I finally made time to try out Wahoo after having driven past it countless times on my way through Decatur. Now I can't wait to go back. Wahoo has great atmosphere and a lot of interesting options on the menu. I was there for the latter part of Sunday brunch. The brunch selections were much better than your typical brunch fare, which helped me overcome my usual avoidance of buffets. Some of the items: roasted salmon with avocado cream, Greek pasta salad, chicken with a spicy cream sauce, shrimp and grits, banana bread (still warm out of the oven), roasted sweet potatoes....I could go on and on. I ate an insane amount of food, and couldn't stop trying new items. If you're not after the brunch buffet, there are some great sandwiches and omelets on the menu as well. The salmon BLT looked like a winner. I'm definitely planning a return trip soon for dinner.

The restaurant inside is a bit tight and noisy for me. However, they have the absolute best patio of any place I've been to in Atlanta. It is full of trees, plants and blooming for most of the year. In fall there are big heaters and in dead of summer they have a fantastic misting system that keeps you cool. The food for the most part is good but a bit overpriced. My most recent trip I got 3 big crab cakes (full of crab), roasted asparagus and basmati rice. Everything except the rice was very well seasoned and cooked perfectly. Somehow the rice was soggy on the outside and not fully cooked on the inside. My husband's pesto shrimp pasta plate (special of the day) was excellent tasting and shrimp cooked just right so it popped in your mouth. With that said I do need to add there had to be at least an inch or more of olive oil the food was sitting in so that was kinda gross. Service is usually very good there but tonight it was off. We had to ask for refills of the bread twice and it never came. Also, we ordered a bottle of Viognier wine from Calif and she brought out a mixture of wine with only 10% Viognier from France which my husband noticed after waitress had opened the bottle. The wine was good but not what we had ordered. The other thing we noticed is how tattooed the wait staff is becoming. In general I don't have a problem with tattoos but our waitress looked like her full time day job was working in a tattoo parlor. She was covered neck, chest and a lot of her arms. Took away from atmosphere.

Everything here is great...the food is awesome and the service. I really enjoy going here and I can't wait to go for the drink specials and 2 for 1 apps! The bartender there is awesome so if you are getting take out (which is an option) you'll have someone to talk to! I hear brunch is a blast on Sunday mornings, so I'll hopefully get there too!

Dined here last night with a favorite peep of mine. We shared mussels as an appetizer and we both had the shrimp and grits entree. Then to top it off we shared the bread pudding dessert. All very good. Wahoo is celebrating seven years in biz and we were given a complimentary glass of champagne, excellent!

I got married here on July 2nd, 2011, and could not have had a better experience. For our price range, venue choices were a bit limited, but even if I had had a much bigger budget, I would have chosen Wahoo. They have a lovely back garden, which meant I didn't have to decorate at all. There's space for the ceremony and the reception. Even though it was the a day-time wedding in the middle of summer, the multiple misting fans and their new A/C unit left everyone comfortable. The food was amazing (plus, they cook it right there! no vendors to worry about). And Pam, the owner, was incredibly gracious and well-organized. I also enjoyed the fact that Wahoo is located right next to Marta, and I tried to encourage our out-of-town guests to not bother renting a car, and take Marta instead.

I like this casual, neighborhood restaurant. The menu is great. I took clients for dinner and there was something for everyone, even a person who is picky.

Not only has the food been very good here, I just seem to love what they did with this building. Although the dining room is kind of tight, when it is nice outside, they did an amazing job with the back patio with making it covered and very intimate. Great spot to bring a date, or for me my wife. Not that this place is any secret, but being away from the Decatur square, doesn't mean this place is not popular. Thanks for being just a really good restaurant Wahoo.

My wife and I, after living in the area for many years, went to Wahoo! for the first time. We were absolutely blown away with how wonderful it was. Here are the highlights: service was great - our server was attentive but not overbearing; food was DELICIOUS; ambience was lovely - we were seated in the front room and were perfectly happy, but will probably request the beautiful glass enclosed back room next time; price was on par with the other high end Decatur eateries, if not a bit less expensive. We split the polenta appetizer and each had a salad - the beet salad and the caprese (on special that night). I had the mahi mahi entree special and my wife had the ahi tuna entree. All of the food was wonderful with good portion sizes. My wife says it's her new favorite restaurant and we can't wait to go back.

I have been to Wahoo a few times and am never disappointed. Their Sunday brunch is relaxed and the Bloody Mary's hit the spot. I usually sit at the bar and have the Eggs Benedict that usually have an interesting twist. Good luck with a large party, there is usually a line out the door.

Absolutely fantastic! BBQ shrimp was incredible as was the crab bisque. We had coconut mahi and a shrimp salad for our entrees and both were delicious. My husband said his broccoli was great. Service was also super. Awesome place!

I really have had a horrible time lately with this restaurant. I live very close to it, and would love to have it be my local place to go to, but in the past year I have been disappointed every time I have been. One of the last times I went I had the crab cakes, which lacked crab first and foremost and second they were drenched in utterly disgusting sauce that really overpowered what little bit of flavor was in the mediocre at best crab cakes. On this same occasion the person I was dining with had a salmon dish, which came out with the center still cold and had to be sent back. This is about the 4th time that the en tree has come out extremely undercooked in my dining experiences there. I wish I could chalk it up to one bad experience but this place has been in steady decline for the last year at least, which is too bad because I love the outdoor seating area and the location is great for where I live.

I visit Wahoo pretty regularly, and I enjoy my experience there every time. The atmosphere is very relaxed, and the staff is always friendly and professional. When the weather is nice, I like to sit out back in their lovely patio area. The food is solid. My favorite items on the menu are the Atlantic salmon and the tuna. The trout is also very good. The sides are well prepared; my favorite is the cheese grits, and they will happily swap out the mashed potatoes that come with the salmon for the cheese grits. The veggie of the day is usually prepared well also. The food is very reasonably priced, and on top of that they have specials on weeknights if you dine at the bar and a girls night deal on Thursdays.

I love the consistently great service and knowledgeable staff. They are more than happy to offer wine suggestions and tastings, which I love. I've had a few dishes that didn't excite me, but the staff is very welcome to comments and even encourages them.

Went there for Sunday brunch back last September. It was my first time and it was fabulous! Really good buffet, lovely outdoor seating out back. Will go again! Also wins bonus points for being right by a MARTA station.

Wahoo's a fun spot in Decatur with a great neighborhood vibe. I've been twice, both times on their fun patio. Service has been great on both occasions, and their brunch menu has some intriguing options and steers clear of the cliche'd brunch buffet staples you'll find elsewhere. If you're a Scoutmobber you might already have a coupon in your phone.

I like this restaurant. It is a great place to have table of 6 or so and be able to talk. The service is very good and the ambiance is convivial. The food is generally good, but not particularly special. I dined last night with 5 colleagues and was disappointed income ways and pleased in others. The pluses were the fried calamari, which is an inventive take on this staple of seafood appetizers, with a spicy sauce and perfectly, and lightly, fried squid. The special flash-fried oysters with a mandarin orange dipping sauce was also excellent, but with three oysters for $7 it was borderline in the portion department. A big disappointment was the beet salad. It is listed as made from braised beets. If the beets were braised they certainly didn't show it. The beets in the dish convicted of 6 thin slices of what appeared to be roasted beets. They were dry and too thin to get any real beet sensation. The dressing was good, but at $11 this was a decided disappointment to the three of us who ordered it. I ordered the Angus NY strip rare. I got, what I think was a strip, though it was triangular instead of rectangular and it had a clear 2in incision in it as if someone was clumsily checking to see how done was the steak. And well they should as the stake was medium, not rare or medium rare, but medium. It was tasty, but not nearly the rare steak I had hoped for and was grisly to boot. I chose not to send it back, but did tell the waiter that the steak was not right. He offered to take it back, but I just couldn't accept throwing out this piece of meat. It was good, just not how I prefer steak. I declined saying I just wanted him to know it wasn't cooked correctly. He then offered me a glass of wine on the house and suggested a very nice red that was perfect with the steak. This, I thought is how a restaurant keeps customers. It was classy. However there was still one more disappointment to come, a ginger chocolate desert, which was supposed to be a sort of ginger cake filled with chocolate ganache, covered in whipped cream and chocolate sauce, decadent, but special. Problem was that what came was more like a small ginger cupcake (no pol of ganache inside) covered in whipped cream and chocolate sauce. The woman who had broken her eating rules for this splurge was sorely disappointed. Still, everyone enjoyed themselves and I would likely bring a colleagues again, but there is some disconnect with the kitchen. I expect more from this restaurant and hope that they correct their dishes so that the food matches the pleasantness of the surroundings.

Celebrating our five year anniversary my lady and I were well pleased with our decision to dine at Wahoo. The service we received from our bubbly waitress was only to be outdone by the food. She was attentive, friendly and most of all available. The mussels served in a Sherry were excellent (not poopy) and arrived shortly after order. Our main courses were prepared exactly as we requested and palate - pleasing! Though cold outside the establishment was warm, cozy and inviting both aesthetically and physically. We wiil be back!

I don't understand all the hype. On the positive side of things, the ambience is great - very comfortable and the back patio is very pretty. Also, the staff was very friendly. On the negative side: the food. We had the blue crab fritter appetizer which was 80% bread and had a pretty fishy/metallic taste. It had a good sauce, but that didn't save it. Spinach salad with blue cheese vinaigrette was good. Entrees: the Ahi Tuna was seared perfectly and is high quality but the ginger soy sauce is very overpowering and the sesame seed "crust" overdone. The "lump" crabcakes were very disappointing. Nothing "lump" about them - lots of berating and just that sub-standard shredded crab that you might find in a can. The sauce is decent but potent. And finally the sides to the crab cake dinner include steamed corn and broccoli - both of which were as basic as you get. Add two glasses of wine and we walked away spending $108. Definitely not going back - sorry.

A neat little spot in Decatur. Went for brunch during the winter and noted that the patio looks great - not like other patios in Atlanta that overlook busy highways or other not-so-scenic spots. Husband had the burger and said it was good. I didn't get a chance to ask for a bite, which confirms that it was a good burger because it was eaten so quickly. The buffet was a nice choice and had a variety of dishes. Nothing was really outstanding, but everything was good, standard brunch food. The drinks were a little expensive ($10 for a truly terrible cucumber martini), but not so bad that I'd avoid drinking. : ) I would go again, but would prefer to try dinner next time.

What a great culinary experience we had celebrating my wife's birthday at Wahoo. This wasn't our first, though it had been a while, and won't be our last. I'm not big on beets, but like to go off map and try new things, so tried the beet salad, which with their Melbec red, OMG, what a great compliment that turned out to be. Our waiter didn't miss a beat, really knows his wines, all in all some highly inspired dishes enjoyed in a great atmosphere, a cut above without going stuffy. The four of us closed with chocolate cake served with a Port and a roasted banana cheesecake (wow) taken to another level with Sauvignon Blanc. Laaaaa (opera voice). Bravo.

I chose Wahoo as the spot for our book club meeting . The table decided to order seafood for every dish. The portions are not as large, but they are adequate. Martini - Lemon flavored. The Staff is very friendly.

First off, I love how this place is somewhat tucked away on the other side of the tracks in Decatur. It's next door to an auto body shop, but has a great ambience inside and outside on its secluded and cozy patio area. The food is good (probably better than I thought due the fact that I ordered the wrong thing, but that's another story). Fish dishes are good and the others in my party said their fish sandwhiches were excellent. Wahoo's side dishes are the only things that need a little work I think. The vegetable medly I got were more like ingredients that you'd cut up and cook with something else...not as a stand alone dish. Other than that food was good and the patio was great even though it was raining. Almost forgot...they're deserts are amazing! Try the coconut cake; you'll freak.

I've now been to Wahoo 4 times, so I figured it was time for a review. I'm 4 for 4 on good experiences and we have taken lots of our family here and they've all enjoyed it as well. Try the dish they named the place after...the "Wahoo." This is the only place I've ever seen wahoo on the menu, but I took a chance and it paid off. The NY Strip Steak with Blue Cheese was my most recent order and it disappeared from my plate pretty fast. One of the better steaks I've had lately. The salads are very good to get you going and I had a brief taste of the calimari and was very impressed. Don't get the shrimp N' grits...it's not their specialty and you'd be better off getting one of their fish items. Leave the shrimp N' Grits to the flying biscuit...or just go to Charleston. Overall...nice atmosphere, solid food, good times all around. Wahoo!

Second time here. As before, loved the atmosphere but found the food and service less than great. Let me talk about the atmosphere and service first -- this place has a funky vibe with a nicely shaped bar, open kitchen, and garden room/tent. I really want to like it but there's a reason there's been two years btw our visits.... The service is friendly and well-meaning, but lacking in polish. At its price point, the food is acceptable -- but just that. My husband loved his tuna but my fried chicken was just okay (a little burnt). Our friend's wahoo signature dish featured a lot of fish but undercooked risotto. In fact, my husband's global comment was that they the food he'd been served was cold. Desserts -- Wahoo chocolate cake and blackberry cobbler -- were "eh." The wine list was confused, without strategy, and strangely priced (J Lohr chardonnay for $30???). But we did love our bottle of Sean Minor pinot noir. "Eh" sums up the experience. Seems like nice people, a nice space.

Their back porch is like a little haven in Decatur. I think Wahoo! tops any restaurant I know in Atlanta for decor. It feels like home. I went for my birthday lunch (they are only open on Friday during the week for lunch I think). The staff was so attentive-I think everyone working wished me a happy birthday and I had a very yummy dessert of blackberry cobbler. Hands down the best outside off my own Momma's cobbler. The rest of my lunch was delicious also. I can't wait to go back to try their dinner menu!

I went when it first opened and had an excellent meal. (Ordered the wahoo. Seemed appropriate). After subsequent trips (three), I've been disappointed. No horror stories, mind you, but i just leave scratching my head wondering if it's worth the money when I could go get something more satisfying, less pretentious and less expensive at U-joint, Matador or any number of other places.

As if Atlanta needs another fabulous brunch place to argue about on Sunday morning. Well let me make your decision this weekend: if you haven't been yet, dine at Wahoo! The cozy red seats are always filled in this popular restaurant, as sunlight streams in brightening the room. The patio seems lovely - I definitely want to return in a month when it's warmer. The Wahoo omelette and the French toast with strawberries are both scrumptious. As for the breakfast buffet, let me warn dieters against it. You will stuff yourself silly! Perhaps that's not such a bad feeling for a lazy Sunday... In addition to brunch, I went once for dinner and fell in love with the Charleston shrimp and grits. Admittedly, when I moved south three years ago I'd never heard of grits. I think the name turned me off. Slowly they began to seem okay....after having this dish at Wahoo, I have officially become a fan. The south and their seductive cuisine are winning me over!!!

Friday lunch, ScoutMob in hand, an amazing lunch! I tried the pan seared Georgia Trout. The temperature, texture and taste where perfect! I opted for the Swiss Chard which was glazed with a hint of garlic and sweetness. For dessert I tried their bread pudding which exceeded my exspectation and is the main reason I will go back, over and over again. The staff was attentive and my glass was never empty. Spread the word, Wahoo is a must for anyone who appreciates amazing food. Very nice outside patio.

I've been to Saturday brunch at Wahoo and Sunday brunch at Wahoo - two weekends in a row - and was wowed both times. The menu variety for brunch was a nice balance of breakfast and lunch options. I'm not a fan of eggs but I felt I needed the protein so I went for the Eggs Carbonara with a side of chicken sausage. I love that my meat side choices are not limited to just bacon. Wahoo offers chicken sausage and turkey sausage - something for everyone! My favorite part? $5 mimosas (and bloody mary's) are offered on Saturdays and Sundays. They don't skimp on the serving glass or the chamagne :) My next brunch experience was on Sunday when a buffet is offered. I, normally, stay away from buffets but the choices looked too good to pass up and the price was right ($16). I feasted on shrimp and grits, skirt steak that had a nice smoky flavor to it, curry chicken salad with grapes, bite size cinnamon dougnuts, and mayhaw jelly with biscuits. Now, I didn't know what a mayhaw was so I asked the chef as he was observing the buffet. I found out a mayhaw is grown primarily in Colquitt, GA (the chef's hometown) and is like a crabapple. I loved it! It was sweet and tart and perfect on a biscuit. The chef was kind enough to send us home with our own jar of mayhaw jelly. Class act. They have a good kids menu (the mac-n-cheese is divine) and kids food comes out on fun plates. I love that! The restaurant is cozy and the outdoor patio is beautiful. It's truly a hidden gem. There is ample parking and valet on the weekends. Wahoo is my new favorite place and I wish them continued success.

I finally got a chance to experience Wahoo! when I booked a large party reservation there for my husband's birthday last weekend. He loves the little independent restaurants and I was initially looking at Brick Store Pub in Decatur Square; however, so glad I went with Wahoo! instead. Management was very accommodating and set us up in a beautiful private room to the side of the main dining area. Our server, Michael, handled our 20-person group by himself with great ease. We started with calamari and the BBQ shrimp and I was quite pleased with the latter (couldn't bring myself to try the former despite everyone's prodding). I had the shrimp and grits which was AMAZING and my husband loved his tuna dish. Our guests also appeared to enjoy everything as Michael removed empty plates quickly and discretely. The only downsides I would mention are 1) the prices (perhaps a bit much) and 2) the $12 "Dessert Fee" [I brought my own cake from Piece of Cake... why the charge?]. Overall, a great dining experience and one I intend to enjoy again soon. And, after reading prior reviews, I'm guessing that experience will be over brunch next time.

I went here with a friend who was visiting. It was close to her hotel so we decided to check it out. The service was just "ok" but I think that was because our waiter was very busy. Poor guy--he was running to keep up. I forgive him because it wasn't like he was just standing around, he was really working!! It happened to be the 7th anniversary celebration so we each got a free appetizer with our entrees. I had the crab fritter and she had the fried polenta. I think the fried polenta was slightly better. For dinner I had the shrimp and grits (YUMMY, ate the whole thing!) and she had the parmesan crusted chicken. I think I enjoyed my dish more than she did hers, but she seemed happy with it. I also had my 4 year old daughter with us, she had a kids cheeseburger and loved it- she also ate the whole thing. So after a piece of chocolate cake and some bread pudding we rolled ourselves out of there. I will definately be back, I want to bring my husband. I think he will really like it too. Sort of a southern feel to it.

oh wow, this place was amazing!! we went here for sunday brunch, and the spread was incredible... in particular i loved the french toast, and the creole blackened chicken. being born and bred in boston, i had grits for the first time here, and it was quite good. everything was fresh as the cooks kept coming back to refill the trays. the waitstaff was great too, we came with my baby nephew and niece, and they were very accomadating... i still can't get over how nice people in the south are!! the buffet was 15.99 i believe, but worth every penny!

Had dinner at Wahoo! last night. Lovely atmosphere and friendly, laid-back service. There's a "garden room" between the dining room and the patio, and that's where we ate. It was a great setting, though the air conditioner in the corner was a little loud. We started with cocktails (all in martini glasses)... there are no prices on the drink menu, and I was a little confused to learn that the same drink is $5 at the bar and $9 at the table. So there's a tip... get your cocktails at the bar before you sit down! We had the calamari and BBQ shrimp appetizers. Calamari was tasty, a little spicy -- not the typical "dunk in marinara" at all. The BBQ shrimp was totally fabulous... no shells or heads (unlike the way they serve it in New Orleans, and thank God for that), in a delicious sauce over potato cakes. Next time I may get two of these and call it a meal. I had the rainbow trout with cheese grits and asparagus. Comes with a little scoop of pesto butter that you have to distribute over the two trout fillets. It was yummy -- my only quibble is with the way it was plated. The trout filets of course still had the skin on the bottom side, but they were right on top of the grits. So it was hard to get a good forkful of fish and grits with the yucky skin between them. If I got this entree again I would ask to have the grits next to the fish, not under it. So there's another tip. It was Ladies' Night, which meant we got a bowl of bread pudding free... I am not always a big bread pudding fan, but theirs is yummy -- fairly light (for bread pudding) and very sweet. We also got a piece of coconut cake, and the other reviewers are right... it is to die for!

I went here for Sunday brunch yesterday and it was fabulous! I'm a big brunch person and this place was perfect. They had a wonderful brunch buffet filled with breads, shrimp and grits, eggs with herbs, chicken with creole sauce and much more! The buffet is only offered on Sunday. I didn't have the buffet bc I wasn't that hungry. The chef went to the buffet often to see what needed to be replenished and there was also a worker that just cleaned up the buffet area so it looked really clean. I know this bc we sat next to the buffet. I ordered the french toast with fresh fruit. It also came along with a side of bacon or sausage. The french toast was perfect! It wasn't too eggy. You know what I'm talking about. The syrup was a vanilla syrup and it accompanied the french toast wonderfully! My other friends ordered the Wahoo omelette which they enjoyed as well. The atmosphere and service was really nice as well! Next time I'm going to bring my appetite for the buffet!

I'm not gonna lie here...this place is fantastic! I just got home and before my food coma fully hits I will tell you about it! We made reservations yesterday- no prob. I just emailed pam@wahoo or something like that- its on the website. We had 7 people and got the fixed menu which was wonderful. You sit down, get drinks, and then decide on an entree. Then the food just keeps rolling out, perfectly on schedule. We had calamari, mussels, and crab cakes all served family style which was fantastic! We polished it off and then after a perfect lull the entrees came out. I couldn't decide on seared ahi tuna or the 10" NY strip. I finally went with the tun and oh.my . GAWD it was soooo good. Barely seared, encrusted with peppercorns and a spicy sweet sauce....mmmmmm. And as if it couldn't get better... they brought out a big bowl of both blackberry cobbler and bread pudding Our server was a fantastic delight. He was knowledgable about wine and was invisible when we were having conversations. We never seemed to need anything. If I was a tuna I would die to be at Wahoo again! Even if I was lightly seared.

This is a charming and wonderful very cozy neighborhood restaurant with amazingly gracious service and quality food. The signature Wahoo medallions with mashed potatoes and salsa verde is a true modern comfort dish. I like the steak dishes here as well. The little restaurant is always busy, I cannot visit on weekends.,

My husband and I ate here last week, the food was good; however It isn't necessarily anything to rave about. Generally speaking, it was well prepared, the fish was slightly overdone. The sides were delicious, but portions were fairly small. Shockingly, I was full. (Thanks to the complimentary bread and garlic-olive oil) Our waiter was polite, the décor was amazing. If weather permits you should consider sitting outside. The ambiance in the seating area reminds me of eating in Europe. I would return back, but not on an empty stomach. It makes a great date night, because the scenery is amazing..

Went to wahoo last night. What an experience. The food, the staff, the atmosphere. We went with a Groupon and got an app, 2 entrées and 2 glasses of wine. We ended up ordering the calamari. Delicious, this was the best calamari I have eaten in Georgia. The banana peppers r to die for. Then we got the shrimp n' grits and fried chicken. I had to keep from licking the bowl. Lol. Compliments to the chef. We sat at the bar and chatted with the best bar manager ever. Reggie. She was super attentive and very polite. We got two desserts to take home for later. We sampled some of each after getting home and it took everything in me not to drive back up there to slap someone's momma! Lol. The bread pudding is the devil. So good, creamy and sweet. The coconut cake, dense cake and coconut flakes weren't too sweet, which I love! We will definitely go back

Really cute restaurant with a super cute outdoor eating area. The food was good, prices a little on the high side. Mostly seafood, but also has a fried chicken and some veggie options. I had the tofu stir-fry, some calamari and some crab cake. The tofu stir fry was pretty good, calamari great and crab cake just so-so. I would say this is a great place for a date! Nice atmosphere, cool bar also. Good mix of people inside. Service friendly. Parking is valet for $2 or you can find parking on the street in front. I just parked on the street with no problem.

My first and only visit here was for a wedding. It was an excellent choice. The restaurant is much larger than it looks from the outside, but still manages to be cozy. They have a great outdoor patio which was were the actual ceremony was held. It has string lighting hanging above and lots of plants and things. We then ate in the back dining room which is completely shut off from the rest of the restaurant. Again, very nice and cozy. The food was all good, if not a bit early 2000's. We had calamari and fried polenta as starters. The polenta was great, the calamari was calamari... no better, no worse. For our meal we could pick between steak, fried chicken, and sesame crusted tuna. I went for the tuna (obvi). It was seared on the outside and raw on the inside like tuna should be served. The sides were mashed potatoes, pasta, and something green. The pasta with red sauces was tasty. The mashed potatoes were bland. I don't remember what the green stuff was so I'm thinking it was unforgettable (in every way). The only dessert I tried was bread pudding and it was solid. Bartenders were great and kept the drinks rolling. The DJ, which I'm sure isn't affiliated with Wahoo!, was jamming. Oh and valet costs $2.. yeah. All in all a nice place to book out for a wedding or private event. Now, I'll have to try them out during regular business hours. I'll let you know how it goes.

Saw the Charleston shrimp and grits on the menu and didn't want anything else. I wasn't disappointed. The shrimp and grits were on point. Grits were smooth, creamy and perfectly seasoned and the right thickness to handle the shrimp and gravy. The shrimp and gravy was very tasty and would have worked well on any starch. It worked very well on the grits. The hash brown casserole was very tasty as were the scrambled eggs. Out of curiosity I tried the pimento cheese bruchetta. It was ok and would have tasted better on crunchy bread rather than chewy bread. I did not like the mini biscuit. I'm not a fan of thick gummy biscuits and I'm not sure they are made from scratch. You can't call it brunch without a fruity cocktail. My pomegranate martini was really good and I especially appreciated the fact that I didn't have to guess if there was vodka in my drink - yes there was. Great service which makes it easy to recommend Wahoo Grill for Sunday Brunch. I plan to return for dinner one night soon and again enjoy the wonderful patio.

I've eaten here twice and it was delicious! Both times, James was our server. He was so friendly; never let our drinks get low, offered us tastes of a few dishes; wonderful with my young granddaughter! The food was delicious! I will definitely eat here again!

My husband had the Southern Fried Chicken. I had a taste of it and the batter was light, crispy & not oily. The meat inside, moist. Yum! His brother ordered the steak. Though he ordered it medium well, it wasn't the slight bit tough. The taste was good. I had the Ahi Tuna on Sambal. WOW, I love the flavor and the basmati rice that went with the dish was delish. We ordered the bread pudding, it was exactly what I expected. Different from Rosebud. This version was moist, bread soaked and soft. Yumz. Will be back.

My husband bought a groupon for Wahoo Grill and we had some friends meet us!! I had been there once before, and remember it being good, but last night, it was delicious!! We each got a glass of wine and 2 appetizers and 4 entrees with this groupon. When we got our drinks, we started eating the bread, the butter was homemade and was very good!! Then for our appetizers, we had PEI mussels and Calamari. For 13 years my husband and I have been on the quest for the perfect calamari when we found the best at ( a now closed) restaurant, Dish, so we also ordered calamari , after reading the description , there was NO doubt in my mind this was going to be good!! The sauce tossed in the fried calamari was made with mayhaw jelly!!!!! Not many people know what this is, it's a berry tree that grows in the swamps of Sourh Georgia and my husband was in the Mayhaw capital this past week and brought 5 jars home , so needless to say, the Calamari was delicious!!! We also split the Farmhouse salad between the entrees.Everything was great! We each had a different entree , so we could taste one another's. I had the halibut over baked eggplant, roasted potatoes and a marinara sauce lying over the halibut. My husband had the shrimp and grits, he said they were good! Our friends each had something different, the Glazed Salmon, with quinoa and a fresh cucumber salad and last but not the her husband had a steak, it was cooked perfect and it laid on a bed of mashed celery root, it was a great pairing, then topped with fried onion strings on top. It was a good thing the Groupon did not offer dessert, we were so full and could have thought of it! I will be adding Wahoo on my places to go back to eat. It will no longer be on the back burner of my mind! Our service was excellent and she was extremely attentive with all of our needs and was very helpful in suggestions! If you are looking for good seafood in Decatur, head that way , it did not disappoint . It was also a plus that the chef was from Colquitt, GA..... Home of the Mayhaw berry tree!! Thanks to groupon for having this great deal, and to the very at tentative staff! From Four very happy customers, Thanks for a lovely meal out! Jimmy and Juli Newmon and friends

Dinner with two business associates. I was impressed with the range of the dishes on the menu. We all ordered different entrees. Everyone agreed the food was excellent. On a slow night the wait staff was also excellent. A bit pricey for a casual night out but well worth another visit on an occasion.

I was blown away that this place was SO good! The food was excellent, the service perfect, and the ambience is great. We picked it off the Internet when we were in the area, and I see why it got other great reviews. I had the Charleston Shrimp and Grits (gluten-free) and I loved it! My sister had seared tuna and said it was cooked to perfection and the sauce had just the right hint of wasabi. My son had the Charleston Shrimp and Grits also and loved them. My husband had one of the fish filets and said it could not have been better. Our server kept our beverages filled and checked back at just the right intervals to make our visit superb. Highly recommend.

Came here for the ambiance of the beautiful outdoor patio! It's lovely and so beautiful. You feel like your in Europe! Service was just ask great and everyone is extremely friendly. I only gave it 4 stars because the burger that I order was a bit on the greasy side and salty. Other than that, it was perfect!

Came here for dinner with local friends. An open kitchen is always a welcome sign for me. Entry is misleading because once you hit the back of the restaurant, the experience changes. Beautiful atmosphere in the garden and in the dining room overlooking the garden. Had mussels and oysters for apps. Oysters were few, but tasty. The mussels were run of the mill. We also ordered the shrimp and grits which was outstanding, although it looked as if it had sat under the lamp for just a little too long. Two orders of scallops were brought to our table, both were cold. Our waitress was very sweet and accommodating, but when she brought them back from the kitchen, they were cold again! The manager was very nice and did the right thing. He offered to buy us dessert, which we thoroughly enjoyed. I could see it just being an off night... but on a holiday weekend, this shouldn't happen. I'm sure I would have rated higher if the food had come out properly.

I have eaten here a couple of times. This previous time, however, was a bad experience. Upon arrival, we were asked "how many?", which we had 2, and then she wrote our name on a short list (even though there was no one waiting and there were many [10+] open tables). About 10 minutes later she came over and asked how many were in our party again, to which we politely responded "2", again, and were told it would just be a second. 5 minutes later we were seated. We were greeted around 5-7 minutes after we sat by a mumbling waiter who had zero facial expression. We were able to order both drinks and food when he came. About 3 minutes later good arrived at our table, which wasn't ours, and the waiter seemed very confused when we told him it wasn't ours. After watching the food, it was apparent the food belonged to a table across the restaurant. Our food finally came out, not quick but not an overly long wait either. I ordered the Blackened Wahoo and my date ordered the Trout. My wahoo was honestly not very good. The salsa didn't go with the blackening spices at all and I ended up having to scrape it off all the fish. The portion was also very very small. I realize wahoo is an expensive fish, but add another side or something. My dates fish was very food, cooked perfect and flavorful. Her spinach side, though, was devoid of flavor. Overall, a pretty poor experience for the $75+ spent. I would have given it 2 stars but I have had a 4 star experience here in the past. Will be a while before I'm back, which saddens me as this used to be one of my favorite restaurants.

My friend and I had dinner here last night. The food was superb! We started off with with the fried calamari appetizer. The calamari was fried to perfection with the buttery, sweet, spicy sauced drizzled over it. We practically licked the plate. My friend order the Charleston Shrimp and Grits. The shrimp were juicy and flavorful and the cheese grits were creamy and amazing. I ordered the Georgia Trout with cheese grits. It was, by far, the best trout I have ever had. The trout was complimented with pesto butter and sugared pecans. I was in heaven. The cheese grits were so creamy and complimented the delicious trout. I am coming here again!

Excellent food, a diverse menu, and a lovely atmosphere. Great for couples or even weddings! They have several seating areas and some can be rented for weddings or other large gatherings. The front room is an intimate seating area with booths and tables and a kitchen view. My preference is for the atrium area which is between the cozy front room and the outdoor seating area (which I can't wait to hit in the spring time). Even on a very cold night, the atrium was the perfect temperature. I'm writing my review after my second visit, where I enjoyed Wahoo's fried chicken. I was in the mood for comfort food and the freshly fried bone-in breast absolutely hit the spot. A cup of gravy came on the side and was so good I would've eaten a shoe had it been covered in this gravy. The sides were mashed potatoes and greens. A very nice serving size. I was quite full after finishing but not too full for a bowl of bread pudding. My only gripe was, I think the hard sauce had been left off. It was fine without it but since it was a cold and rainy evening I was looking forward to that whiskey sauce to warm me from the inside. Everyone in my party loved their meals as well and we are a pretty discerning crew. We were a party of 6, so the tip was automatically added; something to look out for when the credit card receipts come since the tip slot is left blank even though a tip has been added.

I've been to Wahoo! once for brunch and twice for dinner. Their brunch is fantastic! The wait staff is very attentive and the ambiance in the covered patio type feel is perfect. In the few times I've been there for dinner, I have not been impressed by the food. They have little variety in meat and menu items in general. I've tried the salmon, shrimp and grits, and GA trout, none of which tasted like anything I couldn't have made at home. However, the service was impeccable each visit, and the staff very thoughtful. I had a birthday dinner there with 15+ people which was an ease for them some how! They separated our checks, were quick with drinks/appetizers, and got every order and separated item perfect on the first try. You never know what you're going to get with a big group, and they were one of the best at handling things I've seen. Here's hoping their dinner meets the quality of their brunch in the near future!

My partner and I visited Wahoo Grill for the first time for Brunch on Sunday. We did not have to wait long - maybe 10 minutes. Service was average. The patio/wildlife area was bright, lively, and fun. It was not very crowded on our visit; but I could see how a crowded dinner area would negatively impact the experience. I ordered the Mahi Mahi with Grits& Sausage - $12. It lacked flavor. I would NOT recommend this dish. My partner had the brunch buffet - $18; and was very happy with the selection. Items were fresh and full of flavor. Parking is available on the street next to the restaurant; for those who dislike valet parking; or having to pay for parking. Service was attentive - but not warm indoor genuine. This place is worth a visit for sure. There is just not a WOW factor.

We just finished dinner and had amazing selections! We started out with the mussels in a cream & sherry sauce which was a very large portion for all three of us to share! Along with the mussels, we also had their calamari which was excellent! My son had the shrimp and grits and he could not stop raving about it. My husband loved his grilled salmon. I had their trout over cheddar grits with a pesto sauce on top and grilled brussel sprouts--outstanding! Tory was our server and she did an excellent job! The portions were large and prices were pleasantly small for such an amazing dinner! The restaurant was beautifully decorated for the holidays. We definitely will be back despite the distance from the northern 'burbs. :)

Came here for the first time for a friend's baby shower. After that I decided I wanted to eat there outside of the event. The food at the event was great so I was curious about the dining experience. We had a deal that included two entrees, two cocktails and an appetizer. Now let me tell you, the calamari was the best I have ever had. I now compare all calamari to Wahoo's. The entree I went for was a Hi tuna, it was pretty good. Loved that it was red and not half way cooked like some places I went to. So awesomely executed. The drinks were really good and I liked their beer choices. Will definitely go back, and will get the calamari again, at the least.

This truly is a diamond in the rough. I've never heard of this place but it is delicious!!! I HIGHLY recommend the eggs benedict with prosciutto and arugula. Not only is the food great, but it's also very reasonably priced. I can't wait to go back!!!

GREAT EXPERIENCE! Dinner celebrating anniversary, called ahead (after having a terrible experience with a local florist, please folks, NEVER EVER use Atlanta Flower Market) and I spoke with Chelsea. She said she would do whatever she could with short notice. Once we arrived, they had a table reserved, the service was AMAZING! HIGHLY recommend checking out. Great food, great presentation, great price!

Made use of a groupon special here. Started out with crab cake and calamari as appetizers. Both items were really good especially the crab cake. It wasn't too "bready" and the crab to bread ratio was spot on! The calamari was flavorful but a little chewy but still good. I had the ny strip entree and again no real complaints. It was not the best steak I ever had but it was a decent steak. The greens were a little over cooked but very flavorful. The atmosphere was nice. Our waiter was, again, nice but not extremely attentive. Will come back again..perhaps to try out their brunch.

Wahoo! That little store front holds some treasures inside, you owe it to yourself to check it out. And, I know you've driven past this place. The location is a little odd, being located at the end of a stand alone old strip mall next to an abandoned mechanic garage....park in the back and head on in! The size of this place is deceiving...it's much bigger than you imagine. The main dining room is not very wide but it is very long. Then, as you keep going back, you find the 'other' areas. This includes a huge covered patio and then another, uncovered garden style patio area. Holy crap, it's a lot bigger than you thought initially. (Show-er, not a grow-er?) I was here for a wedding rehearsal dinner so the menu was limited and arranged for us. I had the caprese app, the penne pasta and bread pudding for dinner. Food was very good and flavorful, portions were a little on the skinny side but I understand considering the circumstances. I had only one issue with the meal....the 'penne' was actually spaghetti. I know what penne noodles look like and spaghetti is not even close. I guess they ran out or something but i did not get what I was expecting. The bread pudding was freakin' outstanding! Service was spot on, even for a table of 25 people. They had 2 people working and the rest of the restaurant was not that busy but they still did a kick ass job! I would really like to come back and experience some items from the menu and get a good feel of the place when not in a big party...so far, so good!

Ever dine at a restaurant because of the name of it? That was the case for me when I drove past Wahoo. "Interesting name....does it have good food?" And the answer is yes. Wahoo is located in Decatur. It is a cute, cozy space with a nice patio in the back. It has great ambiance so it is a good date place. The restaurant is focused on organic ingredients which I love. Their cuisine has a Southern flair to it. I ordered a few dishes. They had a fix menu for $19 of appetizers, salad, and entree. Which I ordered calamari, regular house salad, and salmon with mashed potatoes. Calamari was cooked just right and the salmon was done well. I also ordered the beet salad with shrimp and I liked it a lot. On top of the good food, I was taken care of. They do have good service here.

The food was pretty good. The scallops were over cooked. The price was way too high for the portion size. The reason I'm writing this review though is because someone there stole my debit card info and caused me a lot of inconvenience. I know it was this place because I rarely use my debit card at restaurants. I rarely have shutdown meals in Atlanta as I live in Jackson GA. I was told that the fake card was used in Alpharetta about the same time I was in Macon buying a bag of ice. Also the service is snooty. If you like snooty overpriced over cooked food I recommend you pay cash. If and when I get back in that area I'm going to make a point of paying them an unfriendly visit. That waitress better hope she isn't there.

The service is always excellent. The food always well done and fresh. Menu hits include shrimp and grits, trout, calamari, chop salad and more. Soups are fantastic and wine selection is just right. I am not a big fan of the brunch Buffett. Live sitting out back.

I made reservation online and added some comments. When I arrived everything was ready waiting for us, the valer Parking for a little of two dollars is very convenience, the patio is very nice, the place is casual but with a nice touch of elegance, mimosa for $7 at the brunch is awsome and the French Toast are the best that ever had. Definitely I will be back

Wahoo for great local restaurants in the neighborhood! Had the chance to visit here for Sunday brunch and the food was pretty good. I ordered the French toast that was prepared on brioche bread topped with strawberry compote and cream cheese. It was pretty tasty although it was tough for me to finish the entire meal. My friend ordered the omelette and she was impressed too. At the end of the meal, they gave us a bogo coupon to use on our next visit. The plan is to return here soon and try the brunch buffet. Overall good experience.

The service was superb can not remember his name but he was wonderful. They have a nice wine list with some great wines and the menu was great too. There were so many items on there I wanted to try I had a hard time ordering. I went with the scallops and risotto but there was a sauce on it that I really did not care for in fact I thought it ruined the dish. It was still tasty but not the best. My friend ordered the tuna therefor making me quite envious because it was very tasty more so than my scallops! We did dine late in the evening very close to the closing time so the food was not as fresh as I believe it could have been. I do think it would have been better if we dined at a more appropriate time. I'm not so turned off to my dining experience that I would not go there again... Everybody deserves second chances! Loved the ambiance here thou and the patio was very creative and romantic.

Went to Wahoo! Grill with my parents who were out of town and had a Groupon for 4 glasses of wine, 2 appetizers, and 4 entrees. I had a few issues with the overall experience, but my parents loved it. It is a small quaint restaurant, which I prefer over large chains, I stay away from chains as much as I can. The tables are small and you sit fairly close to the table next to you, and I prefer more space. We were greeted about 3 minutes after sitting down, not by the server but by his team member who took drink orders and bought those out. It took another 8-10 minutes to get greeted by the actual server. But, he knew his stuff, the new menu items rolled off his tongue which was nice. Beyond that, the flow of the service was great. Appetizers, entrees all progressed with an appropriate time frame, albeit slower than what I'm used to. I will have to contribute it to the more laid-back dining experience. In reference to the food.. We ordered the bowl of Crab Bisque. Thinner than what I'm used to and the crab was lacking. In addition, it was warm and not hot. I would not order it again. Calamari - was off the chain. It didn't come with that usual orange sauce but had its own sauce drizzled on it. It was a slightly sweet sauce and it made the dish perfection. It didn't make the calamari soggy but super delicious. I'm still dreaming about it. Wine - Nice huge glasses of wine. With the Groupon we could get the house and they were very good. Entrees - Steak - cooked to perfection, with a small amount of steak sauce - this is probably one of the best steaks I had. I hate eating steak with a lot of steak sauce, if the steak is good it shouldn't need it. Ahi Tuna - Perfection, sauce great, mash pot, seaweed salad. Salmon - Great, the quinoa wasn't too appealing. Paella - Chicken was slightly under-cooked (i'm a big no pink/red at all in my chicken person). 2 big shrimp and 4 mussels - probably wouldn't order it again. What we did like was that all servers helped each other. Our glasses weren't empty, we did'n't have dirty plates sitting at our table, and boxed up my dinner. Overall, if I was in the neighborhood, I would go there again, but it's not that great that I would go there because I had a strong desire to go, but still not a bad experience.

Sumptuous seafood, even after 9 pm. The dining room wasn't crowded at all, but the waitstaff treated us like prime-time guests. Their rendition of fried calamari was crisp and tasty...not as light as I'd had, but nothing to send back either. I had something I rarely ever have for an entree...shrimp. Their take had 6 nice sized shrimp surrounding a cup of cheese grits. I had to try it! Not too bad either! One of our party had pan seared Ahi, soy-ginger glaze, wasabi cream, mashed potates with wakeme salad. It looked amazing. It was a bit pricey, but in this case, we certainly got what we paid for.

So I revisited the Wahoo Grill last weekend for a friend's birthday dinner. It was very classy and the management went out of their way to take care of us whilst we waited for the bday girl to arrive. The service was superb. Unfortunately I am downgrading my original rating because I ordered my favorite, the shrimp and grits, and it was disappointing. The shrimp did not have much flavor and tasted like it wasn't very fresh. Perhaps because it was made for the party and was mass cooked? I don't know. It was a far, far cry from my first visit. I'm not from ATL, so I'm looking for spots that can eventually become my regular stomping grounds. I may give Wahoo another chance, but I won't be planning any parties there. My fellow party-goers complained that their meals were "less than" as well - lacking flavor, lukewarm, and bland.

I heard good things, live nearby, and wanted to like it. In short, save yourself the headache and avoid it. Tried this place in mid-August and I'm still disappointed. I would say there's a management issue. Here's why: Valet to park a car 30ft away. Returned it with mud on tire and paint. Must have tried. Enter into a mix of country drab and middle east. That's unique. Server suggested wine at least three times. I got it, really. Food was tasty but with a lot of butter and salt. Unnecessarily high server to guest ratio. Combined with cramped tables, this made for several awkward "brushes" and apologies. Servers shout at the kitchen to give the impression of a loud and "social" atmosphere. It was mostly couples and retired folk. Kitchen exhaust blows greasy air back into the main restaurant. I had to dry clean my shirt and my lady's sweater. Gives the "appearance" of and upscale experience but Gordon Ramsay would tear this place up! For nearby alternatives, try Two Urban Licks or Cakes and Ale. This is the first time I've been compelled to write a bad review. Shame on you Wahoo.

Went here for a romantic date night. The atmosphere was perfect: warm, cozy, and bustling. The food was fabulous. We started with the pimento cheese appetizer, and I think we could have made a meal just out of that! We both ordered the tuna for our entrée, and while the meat was good, I wasn't a huge fan of the seaweed salad. It was, however, all cooked well. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We were attended to regularly, and my fish-like husband didn't ever have to wait long for a refill on his drink. Will definitely try again for a different entree, but maybe only for a special occasion. A little pricey for a regular night out if you're going to get a full meal.

The "valet" that others mentioned is shameful. It's a guy waiting to mug $2 from you. The food is pretty good. I had the snapper, and my girlfriend had the steak. Asked for the steak to be med-rare, but came out closer to the well done. Nevertheless, it was good. The oyster appetizer was underwhelming. It also takes a while to get your check. I thought it was a tactic to make you wait so you'll make room for dessert. Service was pretty slow, but nice overall.

The atmosphere here is absolutely perfect for Sunday brunch! If there are tables available, I highly recommend sitting in the Garden Room. The food here is absolutely delicious as well. Make sure to save some room for shrimp and grits. The pasta is also great. This is a sunday brunch spot that I highly recommend taking a trip to try out one of these beautiful Atlanta Sundays!

We went to restaurant after a long break. The food was very good and the service was okay. The only hiccup was one person ordered the shrimp and grits and the dish was minus the grits. Once it was brought to our server's attention, Wahoo provided additional grits. Everyone enjoyed their meal.

Went here for a business dinner. Was actually kinda hard to get there from my place without a GPS amazingly. But that's probably just a personal thing. I got there (obviously) but in a roundabout way. There is an adjacent parking lot with a decent amount of parking, but probably not enough for a busy night. Only one member of my party was there when I arrived so I was directed to the bar. Once we got a third, they seated us. Since it was a weeknight and not busy, this wasn't too inconvenient for them. I got New York Strip. Yes, yes, I know- how terrible when at a seafood restaurant. Cooked appropriately and juicy. The mashed potatoes were OK. I swapped out the spinach for asparagus which was pretty good. As an appetizer, I got the spinach salad- that was pretty good. Tasted the mussels and they were pretty tasty. The calamari was great. Complimentary bread is provided.

My father, boyfriend and I went to Wahoo Grill last night. It was my first time dining with them and I had a fantastic experience. I'm a fairly slender woman and I hardly ever finish my dinner meal... that was most certainly not the case last night! For an appetizer we tried the pimento cheese fritters which were delish! For the main coarse, my father had the ahi tuna plate and loved it, my boyfriend had the salmon and he said it was amazing and my fried chicken dinner was out of this world! Everyone was part of the "clean plate club" and loved every bite we had. We also tried the bread pudding and the butterscotch pot de creme... OMG... both sooooooo worth trying. The service was impeccable. I have a few food allergies and the chef, Scott went out of his way to ensure none of my food had any cross contamination. He even came out to speak with me before and after the meal...how's that for service! I am seriously wishing I could go there again tonight for dinner! Once you go, you'll be hooked, trust me!

Loved the atmosphere here and the food was awesome. They really went out of their way to make sure we were well taken care of, especially after, accidentally, getting wine on one of my family members shirts. I would gladly return here on another visit to Atlanta. If I had one complaint, it would be that their waiting area is not big enough to handle large groups, but I rather not dock them stars for that.

Excellent red snapper last night - a fish that can be bland and somewhat dry in my experience. But here it was well-prepared, well-seasoned and paired with a couple of delicious sides. Mushroom risotto rocked as well. Good beer selection - not extensive and no drafts, but you'll find what you want, probably. Service was awesome. Seating was also awesome, mostly because we arrived early and could score the corner window seat but I like the restaurant's layout in general. Wahoo! can get quite crowded during the rush. The patio out back is one of the city's best. Not more than a stone's throw from my house, Wahoo! gets repeat business from me.

Loved the overall atmosphere and service provided. Friendly personnel, they did their best to accomodate each and every need of our party. The appetizers (fried calamari and bruschetta) were absolutely delicious. I had the Charleston shrimp and grits and it was absolutely delicious.

A cozy, elegant, secluded restaurant with a covered patio perfect for date night. Or for a relaxing evening with good friends. Or for anything really. Don't be fooled by how the restaurant looks from the front. The interior is classy and the outdoor seating area makes you feel like you've happened upon a secret garden. Service was warm and friendly; food was great. My boyfriend and I got the scallops and the salmon. The scallops were tender though a tad salty. The salmon however, was delicious and not too oily. Everything tasted fresh and simple. Would return for the ambience, food, and service anytime.

I am generally not a fan of buffets, but the Wahoo brunch buffet is more of a choose your own small plate/tasting than a buffet. I look forward to returning for the shrimp and grits and red rice. The service was wonderful as well!

A very inviting ambiance that is only complimented by superb food and service. Their fish tacos are some of the best I've ever had. The things that aren't so great? - Parking lot of hardly paved and easy to get your nice shoes dirty. - Our server didn't bring us bread and had to be reminded - The table for two people is way too long, so you are sitting very far apart. May not be best if you are planning to have a date night here. - House wines are terrible Overall, I see these things as minor inconveniences and the quality of the food is my true judgement, thus 4 stars.

What a great place! The food is fresh and delicious. This is that perfect place you're always looking for. There's a little bit of everything on the menu and it's all really good. Great atmosphere whether you sit inside or on the covered patio, and it's quiet enough to have a conversation at your table. Take a look at the menu and give it a try, it's a great little place. They have great specials at the Bar Sun - Thu too.

We went on a Monday and got a 2 for 1 cocktail deal as well as 2 for1 appetizers. You have to sit at the bar for the deal, and we decided just to have our meal at the bar, as well. Great atmosphere, beautiful porch, kind and friendly staff. The food was amazing. We could not get over the calamari and wanted to order more! It is not your typical calamari- no marinara sauce, and a little bit of an Asian flare. We got the seared tuna and the chicken and gnocchi special, both of which were delicious. We can't wait to go back!

I'm the fiancee of Dana (review below) who was proposed to and I can't think of a better place than Wahoo to get engaged. Dana had been working with the staff for weeks to plan the perfect engagement. The manager, servers and even the valet were all in on it and I was very happily surprised! The manager even sat at the table next to us filming with her phone so we would have this special occasion on video. They offered us a free champagne toast and appetizers. The majority of the party had the shrimp and grits which were amazing. Everyone was so welcoming and incredibly friendly. My fiancee and I are even thinking about Wahoo as a venue for our wedding. I wish I could give Wahoo 5 more stars!

The food here is excellent! If you go, try the crab cakes New Orleans style. The Arugula really compliments the savor in this dish. For the entree, we had the Shrimp and Grits and the Seared Sea Scallops. Hmm! The scallops are complimented with sauteed spinach, bacon and a mushroom butter sauce. The flavor of this dish releases its intensity of it's savor at just the right time! You will definitely want to come back for more. The ambiance was very nice.... the perfect place for an enchanting evening of a date night. Don't let the parking lot fool you.... small and graveled, but the restaurant experience will certainly make up for this.

W had a party and Chef Scott made the moat beautiful platters. The smoked Salmon was fantastic! The vegetarian sides were just as amazing. Jason's sincere, courteous personality and professionalism make me want to come back again and again. I cant say enough about about your entire staff. The food and service is always wonderful.

An unpretentious location near the railroad tracks in Decatur helps disguise the true opulence of the dining inside the Wahoo Grill. Heavenly bliss awaits you, dear readers. It is indeed rare that we happen upon such greatness in such careless fashion but that is exactly what happened this fine evening. We were drawn to Wahoo Grill, not in our normal course of events, but instead to help support Habitat for Humanity. On this night, Wahoo Grill was donating 10% of all proceeds to Habitat for Humanity and when we heard about it, we loved the idea! We made reservations thinking that like-minded supporters would be lining up at the door. This however was not the case and perhaps we should have strayed from our normally covert modus operandi and helped promote this to garner more support. We were seated promptly. Our server greeted us and she was wonderful. You know sometimes you just connect with people? She was wonderfully knowledgeable about the entire menu and when we had questions she couldn't answer, she went and got the answer and returned promptly. Our special dining requests were all honored and they accommodated us in every way. We got started with Charcuterie and Cheese. The meats were delightful and the cheeses were flavorful. At the end of our meal, we were still talking about it! When visiting Wahoo Grill, I highly recommend this appetizer! Melanie strayed off her vegetarian reservation to try the Southern Fried Chicken served with mashed potatoes and milk gravy. This was perfectly prepared and arrived at our table so hot it was minutes before she was able to eat it! This is how we prefer food to be served! Instead of the garlic spinach, the Chef was kind enough to accommodate her request for a small salad instead with buttermilk dressing and Melanie loved this! Our young guest ordered the Brasstown Rib Eye that comes with a homemade steak sauce and served on a deb of artichoke hearts. I was able to wrestle one piece away from her but other than that she was as protective as a dog and her bone. This steak was delicious! When I came in, I almost ran over a man in the door who smelled like fish. He said he was on the way out of the door to retrieve another load of Red Snapper. Our server also mentioned the Red Snapper among the first of her recommended selections. I took this as a sign and I could not order anything BUT the Red Snapper and OH how I am glad that I did! Served with couscous, it had a spicy vinaigrette drizzle that was captivating! This was a wonderful example of how to provide flavor to a dish by complimenting, rather than overpowering, the true flavor of the fish. We were full at the end of dinner, but when our server asked about dessert, how could we turn her down? We knew how good everything else was, we were thinking "what could be in store for dessert?". As it turns out, they offered an Apricot Peach Sunny Side Up that sounded great and tasted even better. Melanie says she would've added just a touch of vanilla and some cinnamon sugar to top it off. The Double Chocolate Brownie served with High Road Vanilla Ice Cream was so awesome though that words cannot describe. If you haven't experienced High Road Ice Cream, you are missing out! We had not expected such a delightful meal we found when we visited Wahoo Grill and we were pampered by the service! Put this restaurant on your bucket list of Atlanta restaurants! Guten appetit! Magical. Enchanting. Remarkable. And downright stunning. And that's just the patio! I was so enthralled by the beautiful ambiance of this gorgeous seating area... even though the food was outstanding, this little area in the back is an absolute gem. Surrounded by trees, soft lighting, hanging plants, and sun shades for a warmer summer afternoon, this place just spoke to me. And now to the food! There were three of us, and we all wanted to try a bit of everything. We started with the flash fried pimento cheese and Georgia charcuterie. The cheese bites were pretty good, and the chicken confit was well, interesting. It's sort of hard to explain. I will say the homemade pickled veggies were out of this world... and the watermelon rinds were the star. I ordered the southern fried chicken, which came with spinach and mashed potatoes and gravy. The chicken tasted unbelievably fresh, lightly and expertly fried. The gravy was on the lighter side but flavorful and the spinach was sauteed with the perfect amount of garlic. We decided to share just about everything, so we passed our plates to the left. I also had a few bites of the Georgia trout and BBQ Pork special (baked beans were awesome.) There was a nice beer and cocktail list to choose from as well. Tori, our server, seemed to have a sixth sense, and showed up only an exactly when we needed her. She was prompt, informative and anticipated anything we could have wanted. This was an excellent overall experience. And I'm telling you... that patio! A perfect date night location, or the perfect spot to relax and unwind with great food and nature at the end of the day.

The food wasn't that bad. Not really the taste I would go out of my way to enjoy. I have not been to the location, they catered for a company event and it feel short of expectations.

This is my second time here. It always takes me 3 minutes after getting upset about the valet parking each time to enjoy the restaurant. I do have to mention that is it frustrating to park, get out of the car, and then be asked to pay $2 because the spot in front of the door is valet parking. Well even if I drove to the valet parking stand, they were going to car my car literally 15 feet from where I was standing. How does that even make sense? Anyways, once you get inside and away from that it is pretty nice. They have a bar area, a room for seating, a covered indoor patio area, and an outdoor covered seating area. The servers are nice and helpful. I ordered the brasstown new york strip. It was cooked perfectly at medium and seasoned perfectly. I would no change a thing about it. It was served with a mashed potato side. I would have liked something green on the plate, some foliage for a balanced dish. But nonetheless, it was great. My husband ordered the ribeye special, which was just as good. Our calamari appetizer starter was average. It was fried and tossed in what tasted like a sweet thai chili sauce. I do have to give a quick mention to the shrimp and grits there, pretty legit. It is was prompted us to return. The bread they serve at the beginning is pretty unique too. There are little olive slices in it. It also comes with seasoned butter. YUM! Overall a good meal.

Ah-mazing. Seriously, I love the optimist for seafood, but this place is right on their heels. What got me was the affordability vs quality. Wow. We had a bottle of wine, two apps, two entrees and a dessert for around $100. The mussels were phenomenal to start, but the entrees stole the show. The ahi tuna seared with the wasabi cream was heavenly. And who would've thought to pair ahi tuna with mashed potatoes? They killed it. The scallops were perfectly cooked as well. And then, to finish it off, the butterscotch dessert. Wow! Just the right amount of salty and sweet to end the awesome experience. Now the service was just as wonderful as the food. Caitlin was our waitress and she had the best recommendations and parings. She was attentive and talkative, but just the right amount. All and all, 5 star experience for us. We will come again!

Excellent brunch!! Came here with a group on Sunday, and while all of my companions chose to partake in the buffet (that sounded incredible mind you), I was trying to save some bones and decided to try the very reasonably priced Chilaquiles for $9.00. They were fantastic and I ate the entire plate! We sat on the patio and it was lovely. I didn't get to go inside the restaurant, but I loved the ambiance in the outdoor space. Gorgeous! I definitely need to come back to Georgia to partake in dinner or the buffet!

Just a fun night out with friends, decided to check out Wahoo. We sat in the back area near the garden and it was beautiful, not too loud. Can see it as a romantic if bringing someone on a date. Service was great! We didn't have to wait too long for our food. We stayed until closing and did not feel pressured to leave at all. The food was AMAZING! You have to get the mussels to start out with. The broth itself was sensational. I haven't had too many mussels but my friend said it was the best she ever had. I had the tuna...was light and fresh. Other people had salmon, pork chops, scallops, and everyone enjoyed their meal. Now for dessert...we shared the bread pudding and bliss cake and both were pure bliss! They are rich so good for sharing.

First time here and im impressed! The ambiance is intimate enough if you're on a date. There is valet parking on the side, so bring cash (I left mine at home of course). I came for sunday brunch after reading the reviews. The buffet is not as expansive as I thought it would be, but there was a nice variety. Also, if you have a craving for a Bloody Mary like I did, dont show up until 12:30! As a consolation, the water was nice lol (im picky with water from restaurants, dont judge me). I will return for brunch but will opt for a menu item next time.

After driving by this place for about 6 months, we finally stopped. I'm really not sure why we hadn't already, but glad we finally did! The drinks were pretty good, although my husbands first drink was almost an empty cup. He was hesitant to order another one, but chanced it and was happy to receive a full cocktail on the second round. The food was all really good. We had the calamari for an appetizer, light, fluffy & not chewy, perfect. For entrees, he had the wahoo (when in Rome) and thought it was quite good. I went with the scallops. When the dish arrived, I was worried because it didn't look like much food, but the scallops were very rich and actually quite filling. We also split the chocolate brownie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, very yummy! We dined in the back dining room, very cute space, dim lighting and well decorated, but it was a bit chilly in there. If we return before it warms up in the spring, we'll probably sit in the bar area.

I went to Wahoo Grill for Saturday brunch. It's a really cool restaurant - it has a big glassed in patio (and an outdoor patio) surrounded by stones and lots of greenery - it almost has a "secret garden" kind of feel to it. I'm usually a fan of savory dishes for breakfast, but decided to branch out and try their french toast (brioche, vanilla-lemon cream cheese, seasonal fresh fruit compote). I was not disappointed - it was an excellent choice. (My husband had the Wahoo omelette with sautéed asparagus, tomatoes, mozzarella, basil, and balsamic reduction, which he loved, but I thought was a bit too bland.) We both thought the white cheddar grits it came with were great, though.

I have held two private events at Wahoo, one was a birthday luncheon and the other a reception. The owner and managers worked with our budget and provided exemplary service. Everyone on staff had a pleasant disposition and were willing to assist us with anything that we needed. The food reached absolute perfection and all the guests were satisfied. I will definitely be going back to Wahoo!!!

The food is awesome! I had the fried chicken, mashed potatoes and cheesy grits and it was awesome! The chicken was juicy and not too heavy for fried chicken, the mashed potatoes were perfect, not too creamy. The service gets an A+++ as well. They were all super friendly and knowledgeable of everything on the me I as well as the beers. Definitely a place to visit if in the Decatur area.

We loved this place. My husband and I arrived a little early... So had a drink at the bar. The bartender was sweet. I had a bear hug cocktail. It was delicious! The blue cheese stuffed olives in my husbands drink were tasty too! She told about half price appetizers- so we ordered the calamari & Cheese plate. Both were delicious. My daughter & her boyfriend arrived and we were seated in the beautiful back garden area. Very lovely atmosphere. My daughter had a cucumber cocktail that was very good. For dinner the guys had the grouper and loved it. I had the scallops and they were cooked perfectly. Delicious! My daughter had the tofu stir fry and said it was amazing. Our server was great and recommended a great bottle of wine. It was a wonderful first experience. Highly recommend this place!

We came here with a ScoutMob. I have lived near here for 7 years. I hate that it took a ScoutMob to bring me here. It was so great, why did I wait? We came here on a quiet Tuesday, not much going on, not much but a dining experience waiting to be had. Plenty of parking, for a Tuesday, easy to find, welcoming staff. We were seated right away and brought menus and waters. We picked two cocktails - the spicy gran margarita, very good, and the Holden Caufield - both were excellent. The staff was very cognizant of my bell pepper allergy and took great pains to accommodate me. I appreciate it greatly. The calamari was excellent - the banana peppers added a great tang and heat. I had the chopped salad - what a way to start my meal - opened my pallet right up. The waiter - Sean - was great with the right suggestions based on my tastes and limitations. I had the steak - it was slightly over, but delicious enough to keep eating - the salmon had a habanero burre blanc that i asked to accompany my steak - I am glad I did. It went with my steak and my man's pork chop - which was the best thing I ate tonight. I lie - the butterscotch pot de creme was. - order this - try your best not to share it, it was so great. We may have won the prize for getting the most out of the container... we tried so hard not to waste a drop. An over all amazing dinner. It is a true European experience - sit back, relax and enjoy the cadence of your meal, conversate with your companions. The rhythm of the meal was that of a slow dance. With each step meaningful and that last dip in the end.... everything.

One of my closest friends had her baby shower here. The atmosphere and the service was outstanding. The food however, was not bad, but I expected more. The staff was really nice. They catered to our every needs. I guess because the baby shower was buffet style, I didn't get to enjoy the food like I would have. But again, the food was not bad. The French toast was really good with the vanilla syrup.

So, we valet the car and walk towards the patio door to see a sign that says see hostess inside to be seated. As we go through the door the woman in front of us turned and asked us, pretty rudely, if we had a reservation. My fiancé and I reply no and the lady says "we are all booked today you can't eat unless you have a reservation." We said "umm, okay...?" and turned and walked back to the valet and waited on our car. I get it is Easter Sunday and everywhere will be busy but the tone in which we were spoken to, in my opinion, was very condescending and made me feel like we weren't welcome. Maybe change the hand written sign to say "we are booked" or communicate with the valet (which, from what I understand, there is only valet parking) so they can let people know as they are parking. Not sure who spoke to us but if she was the hostess, eek. I don't have a desire to go back, although the food I saw on the plates of those who were eating, looked and smelled very good. :-/

I was gonna go to bed but before I do, I feel the need to write a quick review about the amazing brunch I had yesterday at this spot. It was my first time coming here. If there's a spot available, you can park on the street but you can also valet for just $2. We had reservations for 1:30 and we were seated right around that time on the patio. I skimmed the menu and quickly realized that the brunch buffet was the best option for me. It was around the same price as most of the entrees ($18) and it's BOTTOMLESS which definitely excited my inner (and outter for now) fat boy! The food on the brunch buffet was delicious. The salmon and pimiento spreads were flavorful and the breads were so soft. The shrimp and grits are on point! They put them at the end of the buffet and I think it's so that by the time you get to them, you won't have enough room on your plate to pile up. The trick worked on both my trips because there are so many other forms of deliciousness that I couldn't resist. French toast, turkey sausage, hash browns, Cajun chicken, potato salad and mini strawberry muffins just to name a few things. I don't know where this place has been all my brunching life but I'm so glad we've been united.

Food and service is excellent; extensive wine list. I got the trout which was two delicious large fillets atop a very fresh tasting succotash. My friend had the salmon which he said was also very good. The only off note to the evening was the surly hostess who greeted us with an unsmiling "You have reservations?" She looked annoyed when we said "no" although there were plenty of tables available because it was on the early side. Anyhow, the rest of the experience was so good, I'm still giving it 5 stars.

Ordered New York strip, muscles, and scallops. Scallops were a bit salty and the steak was over cooked but the flavor was good.funny enough, the free bread and the butter were amazing.

Not great. Started off with the calamari, and that was the star of the show. You think that calamari is a staple and pretty similar wherever you get it, but the light dressing this was tossed in made it stand out hugely. I ordered the scallops, and my dining companion the mahi mahi. The scallops themselves were okay and a little rubbery, but the wild rice underneath it had a terrible char taste to it, like it was scraped off the bottom of a burnt cast iron pan. Really unpleasant. The wine that came with the Groupon we used was okay. The Groupon made it a good deal overall, but our entrees just weren't good, and it took us about 20 minutes to get our check. And then always that disappointment in the waiter's eyes when you mention the groupon, and a decline in service.

We've been several times, both for the prix-fix during the week and the regular menu. They are consistently good, and their cocktails have improved over the last year. Stand outs include the scallop entree and a long gone pork belly appetizer. The Thursday 1/2 price bottle special is a great deal, and they have a 2 for 1 appetizer happy hour as well.

This place is amazing! I'm someone who has lots of allergies (I follow the Autoimmune Protocol to the Paleo Diet (AIP), and as a result I cook 99% of my meals. I don't often go out, and when I do it can be a hassle. Here, at Wahoo! Grill they were extremely accommodating and friendly in regards to me sharing my allergen requests. Without asking, the waiter, Casey, even got the head chef, Scot to come out. He came out and talked to me, and answered all questions and helped make a dish to meet my needs (pan-seared Georgia trout, and sautéed spinach, onion, and mushrooms in olive oil..YUM). The dish was delicious, and I was just so pleased with the experience. Scot was extremely easy to talk to, and he was really knowledgable about my specific health condition, which was shocking-but a very pleasant surprise. My family also got the pan seared scallops, and shrimp and grits - and they both absolutely loved it. They really enjoyed bread and butter that they serve before the meal, and they had a great selection of beer and wine. The atmosphere was great, I absolutely loved it. Fancy enough for a date, business dinner, etc., but also not necessary to really dress up either. This is a great place, and I highly recommend trying it!!

Food Sunday Brunch Buffet $19 Shrimp and grits. Shrimp is overcooked buts it's sitting on a burner. The grits are not as buttery as flying biscuit but the sauce was more flavorful. I love it anyway. Smoked salmon was also very flavorful. Everything else was good but didn't stand out for me. Decor Fancy upscale brunch place. Service Excellent servers that know what they are doing. Very clean and elegant looking people. Would I come here again? Probably. Fancy enough for a date. Otherwise I would go to cheaper options for brunch.

I visited Wahoo! Grill for the first time on a family excursion. It's located right across the street from the East Lake Marta station in a tiny grouping of store fronts. When I walked in I expected a small, quaint, bistro style setting; to my surprise it was a large, welcoming, southern delight! There is a beautiful garden patio with seating and heaters so even in the evening you're perfectly toasty. There is also an in-between from the inside restaurant and the garden where you can sit under exposed beams, a tin roof, and be surrounded by fresh beautiful flowers. Not overly decorated, it's a simple and inviting space. The menu itself is varied but has an emphasis on Southern food with a twist. It also has a lot of great seafood options to choose from. Crab cakes, fried calamari, and pimento cheese fritters are all appetizer options. One plus for the crab was that there wasn't a ton of breading, a negative was that it was SUPER heavy on the tarragon to the point that it overwhelmed the dish. For entrees we chose the shrimp and grits and crab bisque, sea scallops, and the trout. All were delicious - the shrimp and grits were accented with a creamy tomato beurre blanc that really enhanced the dish. The sea scallops were served with a pesto that was light and paired well with the white wine we ordered. The rice it came with however was a little cold and not very palatable. Our server was good - a little slow, but he did have numerous large parties to attend to in addition to our small table. He thoroughly walked us through the menu and offered suggestions on what to choose. I would return to Wahoo! but I think for a light lunch so I could sample a few smaller plates to mix things up. The fried chicken is something I'd love to try next. On a beautiful day, it's a nice gem hidden away to grab a few drinks and have some light bites.

We went on valentines night... so cliche right? yeah, i know. But i wanted to do the whole fancy pants dinner on the busiest night of the year thing. I'd say we actually picked a good spot for it because it wasn't insanely crowded. We made reservations and so did everyone else with any sense at all. So, there wasn't a gaggle of people crowding the place is what im saying. We had one of the best servers ever. I was taken back by his aggressiveness at first but felt like we were friends by the end of dinner. He answered our questions and made educated recommendations. Started off with the Pimento Cheese Fritters, they were delicious. The jelly with them made my mouth start dancing and I knew it was going to be a good meal. I got scallops for my entree and I'm pretty sure they were perfect. I don't often order them but I was totally happy with my choice. They melted in my mouth and the pesto sauce was just enough sass to go with it. I changed up the sides and got the grits and spinach. The grits were fantastic and I was happy with my choice. The spinach wasn't anything spectacular but still good. My date got the Brasstown Beef N.Y. Strip. The housemade steak sauce was incredible. Steak was cooked wonderfully as well. Unfortunately we were too full for dessert but might go back just to eat it sometime er nother. It looked to be quite good.

What can I say about Wahoo Grill! Well, this place is top knot! The restaurant is beautiful and the food is amazing. My boyfriend and I had the Scottish Salmon which was cooked to perfection. For dessert, I had the double chocolate brownie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream perfect! Service was fast and professional, and YES the restrooms were spotless. Best restaurant so far on my Atlanta trip. Great Job to the owners and crew at Wahoo Grill!

We decided to have our wedding at Wahoo! and it was an amazing decision! The staff was incredibly helpful, flexible, and chill during the months that led up to the wedding and during the wedding. I truly did not worry at all during the day of the wedding, because I knew the coordinators at Wahoo! had everything under control. I was able to enjoy and party with all of our friends and family. We had the ceremony and reception at Wahoo! and the vibe, the gardens, and the space was perfect for us. I would completely recommend this as a relaxed, beautiful, and slightly magical wedding venue in Atlanta/Decatur. It was the perfect size for our wedding (~94 ppl); we had the tented area, outside patio and garden room. If we ever have another big party, I know where we will have it :). Wahoo! is the perfect venue for a variety of events. Thank you, Pam, Reggie, and all of the staff that made our wedding day so wonderful!

I went to Wahoo for the first time the other day as part of a 10-person birthday group. The reservation for this dinner was made well in advance and despite this they decided to sit our group in the least desirable position in the whole place; next to the back sliding door that servers and people were going through every few seconds, sometimes leaving the door open and others times not. The blasts of heat and humidity every few seconds when the door opened were rather uncomfortable to us and distracting to table conversation. A couple of times the servers bumped my arms as they were carrying items outside, and I even helped them open the door from the position of my seat. I can roll with the punches but my seat was at the end of the table closest to the entry/exit point for the sliding class door and at one point a server was carrying a big trey of food directly over my head for an outside table. I began to wonder how the management could allow such a position of a table filled with people who had gone to the effort to make a reservation for this place. Our server offered an unsolicited apology for the other server carrying the food over my head but I wished they had owned up to the overall poor table position and had not put us there in the first place. On to the food, the seasonal heirloom tomato and burrata mozzarella was a delicious blend of flavors and my stir fry tofu entree was enjoyable and healthy with quinoa instead of rice. The food was satisfying and the flavors were on target with timely delivery on bringing out the food altogether. However, the position of the table was so distracting that it really took away from the whole dining experience. And, there's a gravel lot beside the restaurant and they make you pay $2 to park with or without the valet service, which was rather annoying to start out the evening. You can parallel park for free in front of the restaurant but that may be hazardous to your health with the zooming traffic on College Ave.

I have eaten here about a dozen times and never had a bad meal. The food is amazing, service is always top notch, the ambience is just about perfect, and the wine list is extensive. Can't really beat it for a 'date night'. My only gripe is that the patio can get a bit loud...

Slowest service ever at a restaurant. Ever. Brunch crab cakes were served cold, tasteless, and very small. English muffins that came with the crab cakes were stale and could not be cut with a knife no matter how hard I tried. Packaged hollandaise was skimpy and tasteless. Potato casserole was too salty to eat. The one bright spot was the cava drink with raspberry liqueur, which was fabulous! It took over 2 hours to order, eat, and get a check, and this was for cold poorly prepared food. Parking was a nightmare. There were 15 people waiting for one valet. We finally grabbed what we thought were our keys and pulled our car around without any help.

Awesomeness!! I've been here 3 times after seeing them on the local reality show "Love & Hip Hop" All 3 times our food was great and the first 2 times we had excellent servers, the last time I don't think that server wanted our table.. In any case our food was still great! And it's a pretty restaurant especially the enclosed patio. Oh and the prices fit the food..

So I'd been meaning to try this place for quite a while and I finally got around to it this past Saturday. We walked in around noon and, amazingly enough, the place wasn't crowded at all (which, as I'm sure you all know, is a rarity in the breakfast/brunch market). The service was prompt and attentive and the food and drinks were both top notch. I had the shrimp and grits with a bloody mary. It might be considered a little on the pricier side, but I think the prices were very reasonable given the quality of food and beverage. This is a place that I will definitely be visiting again!

We stopped here after church for brunch. We did not have reservations so sat at the bar for a few drinks until a table was available. I had a mimosa which was very good. He had a bloody mary. I don't typically like bloody marys but tried this one and it was actually pretty good. We only had to wait about 30 minutes before being seated at a table. I decided to avoid the buffet and go for the eggs benedict with cheese grits. The eggs were poached perfectly and the ham was great. The grits were nicely cooked with good flavor. He had the buffet which was amazing. They had a large variety of food and it was all good (I will admit to trying some off his plate). Next time I will go with the buffet. The building is nice. The main interior is a bit industrial with exposed brick and pipes. There is a back dining area that looked nice, though I didn't actually go through. The bar is small but well-stocked. Overall, it was very good and we will likely be back.

I was taken here as a surprise for my birthday this past Saturday. I really enjoyed myself here. The food and atmosphere were lovely. Our waitress, Jonesy(sp), was the best. She was very attentive and good with my children. My sisters, who are on a fast and couldn't eat meat or sugar, were able to find a couple of things on the menu to satisfy them. I ordered the southern fried chicken that was accompanied by mashed potatoes, gravy, and mustard greens. The chicken was crispy, juicy, and lightly seasoned. I normally prefer my chicken seasoned well, but didn't mind the lack of it because the chicken was cooked so well. The mashed potatoes were okay, nothing to write home about. The gravy was delicious. The best thing on the plate, though, were the mustard greens. They were tender with a touch of spice and vinegar. They were so good, my sisters ate three or four portions of them. Even my mom, who is particular about her greens, enjoyed them. When it came to dessert, they brought out the cake that I bought and served each of us a slice without so much as a word. Some places have issues with you doing so, but not the staff of Wahoo. They even joined in as my family LOUDLY sang "Happy Birthday" to me. They boxed up everyone's uneaten portions and put the rest of the cake back in it's box when we were through. All in all, I had a great experience at Wahoo. By the way, the patio, where we had our dinner, was lovely. As the natural light left the sky, they began to light the candles on the table. It was very romantic.

Ambience, food, service all outstanding. Salmon and Ga trout recommended. Again last night, could've resist the salmon. Medium well done and it came juicy and with the perfect flavor ( don't like it too fishy). However, the portions were disappointing; while the salmon size was barely adequate, the sides were tiny. Two bites of greens was all there was, and upsetting because it was so good. My friend and I got 4 minuscule slices of bread, when I asked for more, turns out they ran out! And the olive bread was wonderful which made it worse. Really, how much money and effort to put in another loaf.

I think the word 'cozy' smacks you in the face as soon as you walk through the curtain-tunnel doorway. I made my own dinner entree out of the mussel appetizer and a side of macaroni and cheese. The mussels were perfectly cooked and the sauce had a good white wine flavor to it, if that's your sort of thing. Our waitress warned me that their mac & cheese is essentially, terrible. And offered in advance to bring me something else if I didn't like it. Well, I wanted to taste it for myself since I had heard good things about it. It was...sweet? It must have been the type of cheese they used?? Anyway, it wasn't inedible but I probably wouldn't order it again. Finished with the full size bread pudding, probably serves around 4 little portions or 3 regular desserts. My group didn't seem to do their share, so I ate most of it. It was just okay, nothing mind-blowing but definitely not bad. Meh?

This is my third visit to Wahoo! Grill and as always the food was fantastic. I came for brunch and ordered the eggs benedetto. The eggs were poached perfectly and the arugala and pruscetto were awesome. The hashbrown casserole is creamy and so delicious. I would eat that everyday. The only thing I was a little disappointed in was the fruit. $3 for six pieces of pineapple and ten grapes was a little underwhelming. The waitstaff was attentive and very friendly. Drinks were a little slow, but good. As before the food was fantastic and I will be back again. Great place for brunch.

I returned to this after 5 years away. Not by choice - I live in Jacksonville now. But our reunion was a joyfully one indeed. We did a family brunch yesterday for Easter here. They had a huge buffet set out, more than usual for the holiday. Roast beef, shrimp & grits, mini muffins, bagel & lox, eggs, salad, potatoes. Sooo much tasty food. The service was attentive. Our waitress was always around to make sure waters were filled and food was taken care of. She even let me seek the food I couldn't finish out the door. I love how they have expanded the seating over the years and the garden looks so beautiful. I will have to come back again when I visit my home again.

Doesn't look like much from the street but go on in. The back is like a secret garden. Just beautiful. Wait staff was very attentive. Plates were cleared promptly and often. Food was excellent, timed just right and delish. Full wine list and bar. We ate on a Groupon and the house Pinot was excellent too. Would certainly go back.

Great Service!!! I went there for the first time 8/24/2013. I had an awesome experience. My date and I waited at the bar while awaiting a patio seat. The bartender recommended a SPICY drink which was very tasty. I enjoyed the grilled pork chops....very yummy. Our waiter was very attentive:)

The best I can say about this restaurant is "great patio." I've dined here twice and found the food doesn't pass the "can I make this (or make this better) at home test." Every time I drive by and see the droves of people going in, I'm amazed at the extent to which people accept mediocrity.

I recently decided to visit Wahoo! Grill after seeing it featured on an episode of Real Housewives of Atlanta. I figured that if those ladies were willing to haul their self-professed "donkey booties" across town to dine there, then the place must be serving up something spectacular. Although that wasn't necessarily the case during my visit, the overall dining experience was still a pleasant one. Food: I'm pleased to report that Wahoo! has recently revamped its menu to include a more extensive assortment of non-seafood options. Although there are still only one or two appetizers sans seafood, available turf entrees include a New York strip steak, sausage ragout, roasted chicken, and pork loin. During my visit, I was feeling extra carnivorous, so I opted for the pork belly appetizer and the Niman Ranch Pork Loin for an entree. The pork belly was served atop brown sugar grilled apples and was impeccably flavored. Unfortunately, the pork loin didn't fare as well. The blackberry sage sauce was overtly bland and the sweet potato fries were equally as flavorless; to add insult to injury, the pork was tougher than a mastodon's hide. Fortunately, the meal was resurrected by the bread pudding I ordered for dessert, which was topped with bourbon glaze and quite delicious. Service: The service was friendly and attentive, but I did dine on a Thursday when the restaurant was at about 25% capacity. Nonetheless, the waitress was more than willing to offer suggestions and answer any questions concerning the menu. Atmosphere: Wahoo! touts itself as a European-influenced bistro, but I didn't get that vibe; featuring Scottish Salmon on the menu does not constitute European influence. Regardless, the interior of the restaurant is still welcoming. However, it is important to note that they have an open kitchen, which renders the front dining room hotter than satan's lair. Cost: Moderately priced, but commensurate with the quality of the food offerings. Appetizers are all around $10, while entrees range between $15 and $20. Additional sides can also be purchased for $3 each. Desserts are between $3.50 and $7. Other: Although I haven't yet had the opportunity to try it, I have been told that Wahoo! has an impressive brunch on Saturday and Sunday. They also offer a prix fixe menu ($19) on Monday through Thursday that includes an appetizer, salad, and entree. Coupons cannot be used on prix fixe orders.

I've been here several times, and the very first time I ordered the wahoo. It was a thick steak fish, which I am not really a huge fan of, but I thought they did a decent job with it. The next time I went, I ordered the georgia trout, which I loved. The most recent time I went, I wanted to try something different and ordered the fried chicken. It was probably the most bland and tough fried chicken I ever ate. However, my hubby and his friend had the italian sausage ragout, and they liked it a lot. Their desserts are also hit or miss. The banana pudding was kind of dry, but I really liked their banana cheesecake. I feel like the dishes are hit or miss, which makes it difficult to give them 4-stars.

I really like this place. Comfortable, intimate. Wahoo! is a great place to relax with a group of friends, or even just bring a date for a comfortable evening. Service is stellar. Staff took really good care of our table of eight, and everyone on duty seemed to work well with each other. Our waiter was friendly and familiar, made great suggestions, and kept our glasses full. They really helped us put the right touch on the evening. Wahoo! has a very strong menu. Their fresh seafood offerings are always worth experiencing. Everything is hand-crafted in their open kitchen. And if I haven't said it before, I'll say it now: the food is delicious! And portion sizes are well in control. Enough for sharing (or not), but not so crazy that there's no room for dessert. As I may have said, we had a group in for something of a celebration, and we did a bit of sharing. Without hesitation, I will tell you everything we had was nothing short of excellent. Here's some of what went back and forth across the table (I'm borrowing some descriptions from the Wahoo! menu, but the reactions are all mine): Cocktails: *Limoncello: A "Lemon Drop" with some Italian lemon grappa. I would have this again. *Aviation: Beefeater Gin, Maraschino Liqueur, lemon, Creme de Violette. This drink did grow on me. Quite nice, indeed. Appetizers: *Crab Fritter: blue crab, mango-pineapple puree, avocado, and some kind of mint thing. Fantastic. *Wahoo Fish Tacos: sautéed wahoo (yes, a wahoo is a fish), avocado-salsa, nappa cabbage slaw, cilantro cream. I could make a meal out of this. *Flash Fried Polenta: local mushrooms, goat cheese and chive polenta, roasted red pepper coulis, truffle olive oil. Very savory. And delicious. *Fried Calamari: spicy hoisin and mayhaw-citrus sauces, crisp banana peppers. Forget the banana peppers. The calamari is good and needs no accompaniment. *Fisherman's Stew: a mix of scallops, shrimp and fresh fish in a spicy tomato broth. I am tempted to go back and make a meal out of this, too. Entree: I'm kicking myself for not writing down the name of the shrimp & pasta special I had. Penne pasta and some succulent shrimps. Savory tomato goodness. Also fantastic. Hopefully some enlightened fan can clue me in on the name so I can edit this paragraph. Nestled along the railroad-tracks on what I think is the Decatur outskirts, Wahoo! is kind-of like that one flower growing up out of a hot patch of asphalt. It's easy to miss, but very rewarding when you find it.

Came here for a friend's rehearsal dinner and the food was awesome. Shrimp & grits was done more like a tomato bisque with grits base. Bread pudding was very buttery and flaky, not gooey. However, I do see that some other reviewers had a similar experience with the waitstaff. I'm not entirely sure what is going on but everyone on the staff seemed very irritated. While no one was downright rude it made the atmosphere a little tense. I hope that whatever underlying staff issues get resolved as the food is very good.

I just had an amazing celebratory brunch experience at Wahoo! Grill in the city of Decatur and TRULY ENJOYED myself for a variety of reasons. (1) The service ahead of time was amazing! I organized a special brunch with about 15 guests for my girlfriend's birthday. From the very beginning, Pam, the owner was clear, professional, and consistent in her communication via phone and email. Even when I made a few minor changes in the end, she was responsive and flexible - while still clear on what could and could not happen (2) The service on site what great - largely b/c the coordination on the front end was clear. I enjoyed the intimate private room that we were able to use and the personalized attention we received. For example, we used a professional photographer to capture certain images and Ski (co-owner) was gracious in directing us to where we could get great shots. He also worked with the photographer to make it happen. I can't imagine he can do this for all special events, but so glad he was able to make it happen for ours! (3) MOST IMPORTANTLY - the food was YUMMYYYYYY! The menu has selected items and I like that they are not trying to do too much. I stepped out of my box a bit with my order and had NO regrets! In sum, thanks so much to Pam and Ski for making this a wonderful celebration for my girlfriend and our crew. I didn't know you guys were around before now, but you better believe that I will be BACK!

Brunch is one of those great meals that's about chilling out, good conversation and great food! The Wahoo Grill delivers on all three counts, stop by on a quiet Sunday to get your brunch on! Inside it's cozy and old school southern with a lot of woods and warmth. Out back they've got a nice glassed in patio and garden setting which is perfect on sunshiney days! The brunch buffet had about 12 items on it including Charleston shrimp and grits, seasoned eggs, beef tenderloin, creole chicken and more! Paired up with a tangy Bloody Mary and you're good to go for the rest of Sunday. Service was efficient even for our group of six and there was no rush at all. The only challenge you'll find for Wahoo Grill is its hidden location on a one-way street. If you're not paying attention you'll zoom right by and have to circle back around! But you know what? That hidden location means that the Wahoo Grill is a great spot for locals which is the perfect way to spend Sunday for a serene brunch, bon appetit!

Love the ambiance here -- super cute outside background, food was great and staff was friendly. Came for breakfast -- they have a buffet brunch available, but I got an egg white omelette with asparagus, tomatoes, basil, mozzarella, and a balsamic reduction. Super yummy! Would definitely come back, I'm interested in their dinner menu -- seems that it changes seasonally.

ASK FOR GINA (Reggie). We were there for Sunday brunch and were seated outside. We were in the middle of eating when the first few drops fell. The staff sprang into action and within minutes it was full on pouring. The staff found us all a place to sit, moving tables, setting up a dining room in the breezeway... Anything to get us out of the rain and sitting down. We'll be back with a larger group for 1/2 price bottle night!

Food: After reading the may reviews I must concur, Wahoo is overrated. My dining club " Dining Divas" and I ate there yesterday and we were unimpressed. We sampled a good portion of the menu and nothing really stood out except the calamari...and the corn which were excellent. The polenta with goat cheese and mushrooms sounded delicious but fell flat on taste. The shrimp and grits were just ok ..but nothing spectacular. The trout was bland. The salmon was noted as being pretty basic but the mustard greens were pretty good. All and all this is not a place that any of us would try again. Service: Our waiter was nice and the hostess was really cool about moving us from a table outside to an indoor table that was a little warmer. Although it took quite a while for us to receive our meals ( it was a slow night), Ralph (waiter) was very accommodating and attentive to our needs. To end on a positive note the space is great and totally I understand why someone would have a wedding in the gardens. I also love the fact that parking is free always a plus in my book.

I never write reviews. This is a must share. I went to Wahoo Grill for the first and last time. The chef was wearing no gloves and he decided to pick his nose. The manager timidly came over with the poker face to ask if everything was ok. mind you the host had shared the situation with him. Instead of him coming over to the table sooner and acknowledging he was aware of the situation and apologizing. He had me to relive the the experience again. He looked at me like what do you want me to do. That was the most insincere apology I've have ever heard. No I was not looking for a free meal or desert. As they often think that's what people are out for.Not that he offered anyway. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE GOES A LONG WAY.

There's something strange that's been going on at Wahoo for the last year or so. When we first starting going to Wahoo Decatur Grill in 2007, they had excellent seafood dinners and an amazing Sunday brunch buffet. When family and friends from out of town came to visit, this is where we took them. The service, the food and the back patio/garden were excellent. It was our go to special occasion restaurant up until about a year ago. And then we felt the food started to slip. The service and the ambiance are still excellent, but something is going on in the kitchen because the food is now wholly mediocre, when it used to shine. The menu changed, and became much simpler, almost pub-ish rather than the high class restaurant it used to be. The chicken and the fish have been overcooked and dry the last few times we've dined for dinner. The side and veggies have just been okay, and somehow taste less fresh. This place is no longer bustling like it used to be. This all might be slightly more forgivable if Wahoo's new menu had pub-ish/mediocre food prices, but their prices are still on par with the high class restaurants, which sadly they no longer are IMO. If they could just execute in the kitchen a little better, this place could once again be my go to patio dining dinner option in Atlanta. Nothing is more sublime than a glass of wine in their garden at twilight with all the candles and torches lit. I just hope one day the food will match the service and ambiance again.

We reserved a table on the patio for a weeknight Girls Night Out. What a perfect way to be "outdoors" in this gloomy weather we've been having. It was super easy to make a reservation for a patio table and we were promptly seated upon arrival. Wahoo! has an amazing wine list. I was happy to see one of my faves, Robert Sinskey, happily situated on the list. I just love their California wine list (with some Italian and Australian wines thrown in). I ordered the $19 prix fixe menu and it was heaven. The app was large enough to split (I got the spicy calamari - DIVINE), the salad was also large with awesome fresh dressing, and the shrimp & grits are the best Atlanta has to offer. Creamy cheesy grits with awesome spicy tomato broth shrimp on top. Yummy with a spoon. The best part about Wahoo!? The service. It will not disappoint. They really go above and beyond to make your dining experience super special. Overall, this remains as one of my top restaurant recs for Atlanta. Its fantastic to dine outdoors, the food is always fresh and light, the wines are amazing, and the service is unbeatable. Note: There are several wine specials, but they are only available if you are dining at the bar. Just be aware of that in case you are wanting to take advantage of half price bottles of wine Tuesday-Thursday! Specials for Bar Patrons Only! Everyday: 2 for 1 apps from 5-7 Sunday brunch: 1/2 off from 10-3 Sundays: $2.50 wine bottles all day! Mondays: $5 well martinis

I really enjoy Wahoo. Such a breath of fresh air in Decatur's restaurant scene. It's not perfect, but the potential is there and the menu is laced with some real standouts. My favorites after two visits are the polenta appetizer and the crab bisque with sherry--I mean, if you have to try one thing get that soup. Enjoy with the baguette and the bread that thinks it's olive loaf. Cue the barrage of hyperbolic adjectives--this soup is all of that. The menu is overall great, but a tad inconsistent. For entrees, the Scottish salmon delivers but the scallop piccata sadly does not. Kinda tasted more like coconut curry piccata (and I love curry but when you're expecting piccata it's a little weird). Not awful, just not quite right. Service rocks. Bar has some cool drink and food specials, especially on the weekdays early (I think 2 for 1 appetizers from 5 to 7 M-Th). Half price wine bottles, twofor cocktails...just good stuff. And again...great service, great staff, from the earnest young host to the staunchly efficient lady bartender to the hyper-intuitive, pitch-perfect waiter. Amped to go back, and sittin' pretty in my top ten right now.

We had my son's baptism brunch here and it was perfect. Pam, the owner, personally coordinated a private brunch for us in the tent. The food was fantastic, the setting beautiful & the servers so attentive. They handled all the details & it was just like we wanted. This is THE place for special events!!

All I can say is: Sunday Brunch buffet... The Cajun chicken and shrimp with cheese grits and the curry chicken salad. It'll make you slap yo mama! Mimosas (after 12:30). Stay all day and eat til you pop! (No, don't. They probably will kick you out.)

I've really only been to Wahoo twice, both with the fiancee and both times on a whim. And both times, we enjoyed ourselves. Really, it was a surprise to see some folks rate Wahoo so low, but it's a rare restaurant that fires on all cylinders every single time. Or maybe these folks thought they were rating Yahoo which then I'd understand because their webmail kind of sucks even though I keep using it because I'm attached to the address. Anyway, Wahoo bills itself as a neighborhood joint and generally does a pretty good job of it. The $20+ entrees don't exactly scream daily neighborhood joint, but the inclusion of cheaper sandwiches helps to round them out. Not to mention, my own neighborhood is kind of sketchy and shooty so maybe my frame of reference is all wrong. Our most recent trip started inauspiciously as the fiancee called ahead to be put on the seating list which led them to seat us outside. In the 90 degree heat. Under fans that did nothing more than move the hot air around. It felt like we were in a convection oven. But after a requesting another table somewhere on Earth instead of the surface of the sun, they obliged instantaneously and gave us a nice little two top that didn't leave us basting in our own juices. We ordered the mussels which were good, but not the best I'd had. The grilled toast points also needed to be toasted a little longer. The complimentary olive bread is tasty and that's saying a lot since I HATE olives. Maybe it was the herb compound butter on it that I actually liked, but hey, I won't question. I waffled between the grilled wahoo and the night's special. I ultimately ordered the grilled grouper special with a fried softshell crab accompaniment. The citrus salsa and the grouper were on point. The crab, however, was crab-TASTIC! Yum! The Fry Gods smile upon me yet again! The fiancee ordered a salmon dish with tarragon butter and she enjoyed it as well. In fact, the only complaint of the night (other than the initial table they gave us) was the pet peeve I have of being told "tonight's specials" without being told how much they were. I HATE that. I know you're usually supposed to add 10-15% to the most expensive entree's price but, contrary to what my old Algebra teacher used to believe, people don't feel like doing math when ordering dinner. Also, it makes it seem like they've got something to hide. C'mon people, tell me how much the special is! If it sounds good, I'm gonna order it anyway; don't seem evasive. I don't like it when people touching my food are evasive. It's kind of creepy. So four stars for Wahoo! Now if only there were some sort of statement of joy a person could exclaim to celebrate those stars.....

Have a great time eating here with my family- my 3 kids especially love the calamari here. They order the calamari at every restaurant we go to, and their favorite is the way Wahoo makes it! The banana peppers are the perfect touch. My favorite is the salmon... Perfectly cooked and seasoned fish is hard to find, and they serve it here! Yuuum.... Buyer beware, once you have the fried chicken here you will never be able to eat fast food fried chicken again... It is incomparably juicy on the inside here and crunchy on the outside- and no chemical aftertaste. Parking is a little tight, so I recommend getting here early:)

I just got back from my first (and not my last!) meal at Wahoo! Grill. In short, it was amazing. In long format it was a 10+ from start to finish. My mom and I decided to go here after reading a few reviews and checking out the menu online. When I found out they offer one of my favorite winery's Merlot from California that sealed the deal for me (Buena Vista Merlot btw - very good). We arrived at approximately 6:30 to find an almost empty front part of the restaurant. When the waitress took us past all the tables in front we were at first concerned they were going to put us in a cramped table in a corner somewhere. I was pleasantly surprised to find they have a huge indoor and outdoor patio section and there were quite a few other people enjoying their meals. Since I had already perused the menu online I had a vague idea of what I wanted to try. I was even more pleased to find that Monday thru Wednesday they offer a three course prix fixe menu for $19. I chose a fish taco, the Farmer's Spring Salad ($3 extra, delicious but also a lot of food! - next time I'll stick with a regular side salad so I reduce the fappy and food coma result), and the Scottish Salmon as my entree. All of it was divine. Simply delicious. My mom chose the pimento cheese fritters, regular side salad, and the burger. OMG the fritters. I had expected something completely different and I am happy to say that those little gems far exceeded any expectation. I have to go back just to order those. For drinks we ordered a bottle of the Landmark Vineyards Chardonnay. Another awesome feature of Wahoo! Grill is that if you do not finish the bottle they will package it up appropriately so that you can take it home with you without breaking any open container laws. And yes, after all that delicious food (which included full size portions) we went extra fappy and ordered the creme brulee to share a cup of coffee. The creme brulee was perfectly simple and the coffee was freshly brewed just for us. Thank you Megan, you are awesome. I also want to add that everyone else dining at Wahoo! Grill looked like they were having a good time. From date night to family night to girls' night out, everyone seemed happy to be there. The atmosphere is also quite charming. I can't wait to go back! P.S. My mom said the burger was delicious and practically melted in her mouth. That's a good burger.

I've only eaten here once, but I'm already a big fan. The food, service, and atmosphere were all wonderful. The menu is a bit out of my typical price range, but it's worth every penny and makes for an excellent treat to splurge on for a special night out. Plus, my date and I used a Groupon that allowed us to enjoy three courses for a great deal! I definitely plan on returning sometime.

Wahoo! was obviously ahead of its time with the exclamation point inserted midway through the restaurant name. Unfortunately, the restaurant itself now seems a little bit behind the times. To be sure, the setting is still beautiful: the interior warm and romantic, the covered patio summer-y and inviting. But the food just doesn't have that extra pop that most restaurants at the same price point do. My mountain trout was fine, my peas were fine, the calamari we started with was fine, but nothing blew me away or made me exclaim "I would order that again!" Though, other items on the menu did look promising, and I definitely would not be opposed to coming back to explore the menu a bit more till I find that special something that wows me.

Came here for brunch and do not understand the hype. The food here is pretty mediocre. The first feature of the buffet was a basket of dented, flattened croissants that looked straight out of a multipack from Sam's Club. Not a great first impression. They were grape heavy on the salads, I don't need fruit in my curry chicken salad, thanks. The shrimp in the shrimp & grits were chewy/mealy. The steak was tough. Can't really remember anything stellar. AND I heard that their so-called signature seafood soup is dumped from a plastic bag courtesy of Cisco. Hmmm.... I'm giving an extra star for the biscuits (that we had to order separately-they were not on the buffet). Won't be back. Cheers~

I went to Wahoo for a friend's birthday dinner, she actually had reserved the private room for a party of 15. Unfortunately, not everybody was able to make it, but the staff was very understanding and not pissed as I would expect them to be as they were waiting for a larger party. Overall, I was very impressed with this establishment. The wait staff was very helpful and very knowledgeable of their menu and had some great recommendations for drinks (I ordered the drunken gardener, which was really good, and kinda herby as it had basil....interesting combination, very tasty and strong! as well as the Chardonnay which was delish!!) I also went with our waiter's recommendation and ordered the Tuna (I love that fish!) and it was just awesome. The presentations was very cool, it had some seaweed salad in one little pile and then the ahi tuna was cut and arranged in the plate in a very unique way. It also had this sauce which was made with wasabe with some dollops of cream....very attractive plating if you ask me. In terms of taste....well it was delicious. The tuna was nicely seared with sesame seeds coating it and the sauce on the side complimented the dish rather well. The seaweed salad was perfect to manage the heat from the sauce. I also had the mussels and the calamari appetizers. Of the two I would order the mussels, they were perfectly cooked and the sauce they were served in was yummy, it had this creamy and citrusy taste which I just loved. The calamari was alright, it could have been a little more crispy if you ask me, and the sauce that it was served in was a little too spicy for my taste. Overall I really liked this place and hope to come back soon whenever I'm in the area. #365Yelp 44/365

The food is good and the service is awesome. The calamari has been a bit chewy as have been the scallops, which should be spot-on if you're going to specialize in seafood. Once, two people in one of our party ordered the steak medium and one received a mid-rare steak - oops! Another person in the same party reported that trout was awesome though. The prices are high for the quality and originality of the food, but this place keeps getting customers, so perhaps my experiences have been abnormal. Given that, the website boasts they are casual (again the prices are high for a casual restaurant) and for one anniversary the hubby and I got all gussied up without realizing how casual it was only to sit next to people in sandals and shorts... And we spent over $100 for the meal. As a rule I don't like to spend over $100 in a place where I can wear shorts and sandals. But then again, I may be the minority (What!?)

Came here for Brunch Sunday morning for a professional meeting and we both ordered coffee and the buffet. Usually I'm not one to order the buffet because all that food sitting out (especially with no sneeze guard) really makes me cringe, but the food smelled and looked so good, and the selection was really excellent, that I decided against my better judgement. And boy, I was not disappointed. The best part about the whole meal was the shrimp and grits! The shrimp were moist and perfectly cooked, the sauce was incredibly flavorful and the grits were nice and creamy. The scrambled eggs were not over cooked and dry, but were mixed with herbs and cheese to keep them soft and luscious. The biscuits weren't their strongest item, but everything else more than made up for it. I will definitely be coming back with a bigger appetite and some more friends.

We've been there dozens of times since this place opened and have never been disappointed. Everyone I take to it absolutely loves it. The service is professional, the food is fine, the prices are a little high but it's got ambience (not so loud you can't talk) and real tablecloths. I sometimes wish they'd change up the menu a little more, but every time I wish for that they take off something I really like, so I should shut up about that. If you live in Decatur and your mom's in town this is where she should go. Same with friends and business associates. There are fancier places like 246 or Cakes & Ale, there are more adventurous eateries like Leon's, but Wahoo will not disappoint.

If you're looking for brunch in the Decatur area, no one has it better figured out than Wahoo! You honestly don't need to even know the buffet menu...it's high end and worth every single penny. Biscuits, homemade jellies, gourmet eggs, and more make this a step above the rest. And if you keep your eye to the ground, you can regularly find coupons to make your dining experience cheaper as it is on the pricier end. For ambiance, the back patio is the place to be. It's open air and reminds you of being at a summer outdoor wedding reception. Very laid back and happy spirited! For evening dinner, it's a perfect area to set the mood and make that special person know you're putting your best foot forward.

thought the place was below average. not seeing what the 4 stars are for. our waiter was slow to say hi to us and bring us water. seem like he had some else to be other than wahoo grill that day. the fish stew was salty and not very hot. the seared tuna had zero flavor as in captain d's would have tasted better at that point. just wasn't impressed and will not be back

I chose this over other local places based on some yelp reviews. The only bad thing I had heard from the negative reviews was regarding the service. I saw nothing bad about it. The pace of the meal was perfect, as one of my companions commented. Our waitress was friendly and even helped with menu suggestions. I had to try the restaurant's namesake fish, so Wahoo it was. Delicious! Blackened/cajun style, but not overly spiced like you might expect from an inexperienced chef. Well done.

We decided to hit up this place as we had a 50% off Scoutmob coupon. The drive from Buckhead was somewhat painful but the place was pretty cool. We sat in the patio area that is somewhat covered and a little cooler than just sitting outside. The setting and the whole vibe is pretty cool. We went for a really late (3:30PM) lunch so there weren't too many people there, but it's not hard to imagine that this place can be a great place to hang out for dinner and/or normally timed lunch. As far as food... The bread was pretty damn good. As was the garlic butter that came with it. Pretty nice selection of drinks that showed some creativity. For appetizer we got the calimari. It was very nicely flavored but the calimari itself was on the chewy side. I'm hard to please on my Calimari... For my entree I got the Hawaiian Ahi Tuna (which on my trips to Hawaii I probably consumed 10LB of Ahi Tuna). This was seared Tuna. With a very interesting sauce, small portion of seaweed salad and mashed potatoes. All in all it was good. I like my Ahi Tuna to be cold (much more refreshing that way) but this wasn't quite there. The sauces while very good, were a bit too overpowering for the tuna in my opinion. Mashed potatoes average, not sure if it was properly paired in this case. My wife got the Georgian Trout. I liked her dish probably a little better than mine. Nicely prepared trout. Good sized portion. Some grits and green beans on the side. Much better ensemble in my opinion than my dish. The service was pretty good. Our waitress was a little quirky but nice and continued to check up on us periodically. So good place, nothing extraordinary and quite a long drive. If we're in the area again, I would give it another chance probably.

And now I can finally review the food. It only took almost 18 months. Anyway... I got brunch Saturday while waiting for my turn to be tattooed over at Ink & Dagger. They were pretty quiet and I was seated in the garden room. I decided on the eggs and polenta with chicken sausage. There are few things that aren't made better by a fried egg and they know how to fry an egg. The polenta was a good texture and the sausage wasn't greasy at all. The portion was huge and somehow I managed to finish it. It was a tad pricey, but I definitely got my money's worth. It won't be one of my regular haunts, but I can add it to the list of go to places for a good meal when I'm in the area.

The Seared Tuna is fantastic. Since I had this there last year I compare everyone's too this... nothing close. This is the best around. Great place all around. Great ambiance, great staff, and cozy. You can actually have a conversation since its not one of those loud warehouse type places. The patio is very nice.

I've always heard good things about Wahoo so I was excited to go. I had made reservations as there was going to be a group. We got there a 1/2 hour early and there wasn't as many as originally planned. There was something lost in translation because it took a while for us to be seated and they didn't realize I said there wasgoing to be less at our table. Bygones... We were seated on the enclosed patio which was extremely lovely (great for an event). We all had brunch which was DELIC (say with NY accent). The two who had the breakfast burrito gave it a thumbs up. I got the Fried Egg Polenta goat cheese-chive polenta topped with black beans, two fried eggs, pico de gallo. (however I opted for scrambled instead of fried). I definitely want to go back and have it again.

Great food good service. I think if the food prices were a bit more controlled this place is 5 star. I love the food the staff and the ambiance but just a bit too expensive. I am into restaurants that serve and make you feel great but wahoo is great except you feel like you spent a bit too much. I will be definitely going back. Make sure to get there buffet its nice as it gets.

Ok it was hell trying to find the place but once I got there the valet guy was great and super informative about where I was going and once I got up to the door I was taking off gruad it was a really old looking door I guess it added character to the place. I looked over the menu before hand and i already had my mind set on the lump crab cakes...so that's what I choose as a appetizer.. i wasnt that impressed they were a lil too fishy not enough favor to much of an over power the fish taste... so I'm glad I didn't get that as a my main dish.... I ate at the bar, so I could see they had a nice wine selection, The bartender was great (Cathy love you ) I think she made my night a lil better... She created this great Spicy Mango Maritigia which was to die for. I think they should add it as a reg item on the menu. I ended up with the special for the day which was a ny strip with garlic potatoes and sautee spinach.. I think I licked my plate when it was all said and done with.....

Went for lunch and had the Pesto Grilled Chicken and it was quite yummy. The service was a little on the slow side for the amount of business they were doing (not much). The patio is nice out, but the bugs got to me in the summer. I wouldn't consider Wahoo *fine dining", but it's a nice stop if you're in the neighborhood.

Wahoo! was good. The food was fresh and they had some season food items for the season that it was, I visited in Aug 2009. The service was good, but the place seemed snobby, and over priced. Not my thing. As the paying customer, I should be the snob not the staff... Will I eat here again, probably not, unless someone else is paying...

Wahoo! is a great hidden gem, and I am totally biased, but here's why I love it. 1. The garden room and outdoor walled-in garden patio are a blissful environment for brunch, lunch, or dinner. 2. Service is terrific. 3. Special events are wonderful here - we got married here. :) As an event planner, I was so impressed by how easy Wahoo! made our special day. There was a tiny (and I mean tiny) ceremony fee to basically set up chairs outside in the garden. We moved from there into the permanent event tent, surrounded by gorgeous plants and smells. Because it's a restaurant, there's no nickel-and-diming for chairs, linens, glassware, etc. - it's all already there. The food was tremendous, Pam (manager/owner) was easy to work with, and the event was elegant but affordable, which helped us spend close to a month in New Zealand afterward for a honeymoon. Highly recommended spot. We've been back a few times since the wedding for dinner and the food is always terrific. They have a new program where they cook fish that were swimming just the day before - so fresh! Delish. My scallops were cooked to perfection recently as well.

I went for the Sunday brunch buffett. Let me just say I was STUFFED! Everything was wonderfully delicious from the French Toast, blackened chicken, potatoes, breads, shrimp n grits, etc. Really, there's too much to name, but I loved everything. I didn't grow up eating grits so trying it at different restaurants in GA has been an experiment. But I must say, these were some of the best grits I've eaten! Brunch was reasonably priced at $17. I went with a very large group, and the servers kept the buffett full and the line moving. The servers accomodated all of our requests promptly. I will return.

My first time here was for a bachelorette dinner with total of 12 girls. They seated us inside, but right in front of their back patio so we were able to have a nice view of outside. Service was ok, but could have been a tad better. Drinks came out slow, server also forgot a few things, but that can happen with larger parties. Note...I'm between 3 and 4 stars here, but need to give it 3. I'm sure next time I go...this will bump up to 4 stars. A few things.... * You can get the caesar, beet and spinach salads at half size and half price. It's a nice start to a meal, BUT my caesar was heavily dressed. It was tasty, but could have used less dressing. * I highly suggest the Parmesan Encrusted Chicken (covered in dijon and parmesan). It comes with mustard greens and macaroni and cheese. Portion is really big and the price is only $14. GREAT value and flavor! * Some entrees seemed a tad pricey for the size, but I think that's going to be hit or miss. One thing...the spiked root beer float isn't worth the $10. It's a tasty float, but there's less than a shot in it. If you're in the mood for one...made it at home. :) Overall...I will definitely be back to try their brunch and bring my guy to dinner.

A nice stumble upon on a weekend trip... One of those all American places with good food... I had scallop piccata which was 3 breaded scallops... Pretty good... Lemon rice was just rice... Dessert was pound cake with fruit and mascarpone and was delicious.

To start on a positive note....there is free valet on the weekends for brunch! I think you're on your own during the week though. This place is nothing special on the palate and there isn't much extraordinary about the service either. I came once first for a girl's brunch because a friend of mine had a 2 for 1 certificate. I ordered something boring off the menu of uninspired typical brunch eats and it was fine but nothing I couldn't have easily made for myself at home. I was told that the buffet options were better but I skipped on it because it didn't look very tended to/serviced & clean in the 10-15 minutes I spent watching it while waiting for the rest of my party to arrive. I returned on a Tuesday for their 1/2 price appetizer happy hr and ate solo at the bar. I had the mussels which tasted like they were pretty much cooked and soaked in movie theater popcorn butter - I guess you can't really go wrong with that...? I also ordered the calamari which had a strange sticky/sweet sauce - not the salty/savory fix I was expecting but edible nonetheless. I was a little disappointed the bartender didn't really seem up for any small chat but if you're one of those people who prefers to be left alone at the bar this could be a good place for that.

We hadn't been back to Wahoo in 2 years before finally dining there last Friday. While we enjoyed the service - the staff did a very nice job - the food quality just doesn't match the price tag. it didn't help that our favorite dishes from yesteryear are off the menu forever. Monkfish Picatta is now Scallop Piccata, which just doesn't to either me or the Missus, and the fantastic Pecan Pie is now...just gone. Sigh. Everything was decent, just nothing really great. Strongest dish was the flash fried polenta appetizer. We both enjoyed the red pepper coulis that came with it . Strangely the coulis didn't come with the polenta on the vegetable plate. Weakest dish was the mussels. The mussels were small & there wasn't enough bread with it. The broth, normally the star of the show, was at best adequate. It just didn't come together. Overall, without the pecan pie & monkfish, there's not much reason for us to come back, which is a shame. We'll use our money more wisely next time. Why pay Rathbun prices for hotel dining room food?

COMFORT MEETS EXCITEMENT IN AN AMAZING SETTING AT WAHOO GRILL Even those rainy nights in Georgia can't dampen the thrill of dining at Wahoo Grill, in fact it adds to the ambience that Pam Ledbetter has created in her Decatur eatery. As an early visionary in helping to shape Decatur into a fine dining mecca, Pam transformed a dilapidated space on West College Avenue back in 2004 into a welcoming neighborhood bistro that's unpretentious and quite laid back. The best part of walking into Pam's "dreams do come true" gathering spot, besides the hearty foods, dazzling drinks, and ultra-friendly staff is how she designed Wahoo's patio. This glassed-in room overlooks a cozy courtyard that's full of lush greenery and immediately gives the feel that you are no longer in Decatur, but could be sitting with friends at some mountain resort in the Highlands. Not many places in ATL can create such an illusion of being at one place with the feel of being somewhere totally different; this makes for one memorable dining experience. This whimsical feeling can be really amped up with one of the stellar cocktails that Pam, her husband Ski, and the team of talented bartenders have concocted. The Drunken Gardener is pure pleasure and will smooth out any rough edges from the day - made with Crop Organic Cucumber Vodka, freshly muddled basil from Wahoo's garden, and a housemade simple syrup. These crisp flavors taste like a farmer's market in a glass, but with a pleasing punch. The Garden Party is another great sipper guaranteed to brighten the smile. But if you need a jolt of fire to ignite the soul, ask for the Sergeant Pepper - jalapeño-infused Don Diego Blanco tequila, crushed mint leaves, with a splash of agave nectar, grapefruit juice, and sour mix; after a couple of these you will surely sing out of tune. In addition to these hypnotic potions, there is a well thought out beer and wine list - be sure the check out the midweek wine special, it's an awesome way to explore the fruit of the vine. The one thing that is noticeable about the food offerings is that they are not over-the-top nor taken to extremes- they are what they are and what they are is really exceptional. The flash fried Polenta with local mushrooms and a roasted red pepper coulis is amazing. The goat cheese and chive polenta is fried to the point where the outside is crisp but the inside is warm and velvety - a nice yin and yang effect. The Fried Calamari is plentiful and should be shared if you are willing. The lightly battered tender squid with fried sweet banana peppers is tossed in a spicy hoisin and sweet, yet tart, mayhaw-citrus sauce - so many intriguing flavors. The not to be missed appetizer is the Crab Bisque; this is ecstasy in a bowl. Fresh lump crabmeat is blended into a light cream broth with a perfect touch of sherry making for a rich yet soothing mouth feel. This "good to the last drop" soup deserves a glass of the zesty Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc. The menu at Wahoo focuses on fresh seafood, but there is an assortment of delicacies for land-lovers like Southern Fried Chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy. The succulent Charleston Shrimp and Grits is a wonderful representation of this classic recipe. The plump white shrimp are sautéed than simmered in a spicy tomato cream sauce that's served over South Carolina's Adluh stone ground white grits that are given a lift with a touch of cheddar cheese. Before the bowl disappears, ask for some grilled Holeman & Finch baguette slices for dipping in this sassy sauce; it's a yum. The fresh Georgia Trout is another must. The perfectly sautéed filet is topped with a pesto butter and glazed pecans making the mild tasting fish quite heavenly. The Georgia Peach Salad screams good old southern living. Over a bed of crispy baby leaf spinach are slices of juicy yellow peaches, grilled shrimp, cherry tomatoes, crumbled blue cheese, glazed pecans that's drizzled with a lively brown sugar- cider vinaigrette. If this dish doesn't get out at least one "Wahoo" I don't know what will. Realizing that you have been swept into Wahoo's comforting excitement, why not take the feeling to a new edge with any of the sinful yet yummy desserts like the Bread Pudding, Bliss Cake, or even an old-fashioned Root Beer Float. The Bread Pudding comes in two sizes- choose wisely. These warm slices of nirvana are glazed with Kentucky bourbon giving it a rich smoky, earthy character. After that last bite and contentment settles in, and you realize you just found a new hangout to be shared and enjoyed with friends.

The first lady and I go to Wahoo at least once a month, sometimes for coffee and bread pudding sometimes for dinner. We absolutely love the place, the menu is not large but the food is great, the calamari and mussels are to die for. One of very few calamari's in the South that are dried out fried to hades... The staff is always great and the manager is very nice. The only draw back at all is in the front area it's an open kitchen as another reviewer stated, not only is it hotter than Satan's lair you will smell like a cook when you are done with your dinner. The simple request we always make is to sit in the back, which is very nice and decorated very nice as well. This place is very nice, nice staff and nice atmosphere. They also have the best bread pudding in the South!!!

Wahoo has become a Decatur restaurant landmark. Known for it's brunch and really nice patio, it's had a long history of pretty good service and decent food. I find myself dining here only about once to twice a year on average, and even though I never have had a bad experience here, it's just not a destination place for me. Inside is well decorated and things can get a little cozy in this medium sized dining room. They feature an open kitchen, and while chefs don't normally like that, I think it adds to the space. Smallish bar towards the back. Outside on the patio is a great place to grab a dinner on a nice night or brunch when the weather is good. I went recently when it was cold, and they have the space closed in nicely with glass, but it can still be breezy. They have some heaters, but if you are near one of them, it can get toasty in a hurry. I'd prefer sitting inside during a cold night. The menu reads pretty simply and there's not a lot of cutting edge stuff going on here. Apps include bacon wrapped scallops that are good, but not very exciting. Other apps include Wahoo fish tacos, calamari, and a few other standouts. Entrees are solid, but again, nothing outside the comfort zone. Couple of stand outs are the trout and the N.Y. strip. They've got alot of seafood, which shouldn't be a shocker, all done perfectly each time I've eaten here. Cocktails and wine selection are good, but don't quite match some of the other burgeoning restaurants in Decatur. Service seems great and I've never had any bad service eating here. Not saying it doesn't happen, but I haven't seen it. My real beef with the place is it's prices. Business is good, but I don't see a reason to charge so much for the food. You can expect to pay prices similar to much better restaurants in the metro area. I haven't checked out the breakfast buffet for a long time, so I can't comment on that, but it might be something you want to check out.

Wahoo is a wonderful place to dine for any occasion. I love the patio on nice days, especially on weekends when I can listen to music while sharing the best brunch ever with my friends. Inside is cozy, the staff top-notch and, of course, the food delicious. This is one of my favorite restaurants in Atlanta. A definite must try but be warned once you do you will go back again and again.

The service was outstanding, our waiter was attentive, entertaining and knew the wine list, making several good recommendations. The decor is also very pleasing, reasonably quiet. The food was just a bit dissapointing. My adult daughter and I had trout that was tender but largely tastless with greens that were mostly stems - but the grits under the trout were excellent. My wife had shrimp and grits and they also lacked taste, but again the grits were excellent.

The place is "on the other side of the tracks" in Decatur. Tugged away next to a garage and a few other non-desrcript buildings, it a highlight in the area. There is both a regular restaurant room and a patio in the back. The best is actually in the back where it is quiet and relaxed. So the ambience is pretty good. We have been there a number of times both for dinner and brunch. The Sunday Brunch Buffet has a pretty good selection. The food is OK but not stellar. I have had the breakfast burrito for breakfast. It is spicy and rich but without much flavor. We have also tried the eggs carbonara, where the chicken sausage is good, but the rest is too flavorful/spicy for breakfast. For dinner we have tried to surf and turf. The jumbo scrimp was great but it did not qualify for jumbo. The turf was a piece of meat that should probably have been thrown out by the butcher. Overall the meal experience is mixed. Some dishes are great and others are really not much of an experience. So choose with care. The service is also mixed. Sometimes you get stellar service and at other times you have drag it out of them, but they are always friendly. Today we asked for biscuits and had to ask three times before the came (and they were barely a biscuit, more of a snack). We had to ask for coffee multiple times. Other times we have been very well served, so you might be surprised either way. The ambience is fantastic, the service could be great and so could the food, but be prepared for a mixed experience. Who knows they might surprise you with something fantastic.

I love Decatur, and my friend who used to serve at this restaurant could not stop raving, so of course I had to visit. The area is a little sketch (mainly at night time) and the parking is scarce, but the restaurant itself is cute and has a great patio area. Our server was a little distant (late night), but in general he was on the ball. I just want to say, that I would go back for the two-for-one appetizers without a doubt. The calamari that people are raving about? They're raving for a reason. Damn good. The entrees...were OK. I got the Wahoo, one friend got the Salmon, and another friend got the Tuna. I think other dishes have a lot of potential...but I'm still thinking about the apps. Quaint place. I'd saddle up to the bar and get apps and some wine.

I am getting married at Wahoo next year and I encourage you to check it out if you looking for a venue that is warm, classy and relaxed. Wedding planning with Wahoo has been a dream. Everyone at the grill has been extremely helpful and we have been able to plan our dream wedding on a budget that works for us. They offer several options for special event food and host the soirees in a large private tent. Pam leaves no detail unturned. I know my guests will be awed by the setting, brunch buffet and service. As for regular dining, Wahoo is a great Decatur spot. The food is very fresh and the menu has a strong focus on seafood. Wahoo has some of the best service around. This restaurant epitomizes the Decatur feel of showcasing fresh and well prepared foods in a beautiful setting that feels both casual and fancy, but never pretentious. The restaurant is beautiful inside and out, and they know how to make a great drink. I always enjoy their rotating preparations of salmon and the mac and cheese is dynamite!

The dining room gives you a "cozy" feel with wood floors and tables, and an open kitchen and bar area. I had heard they have a nice patio, so that's where we asked to be seated. When exiting the main dining room, you walk into a covered patio dining area and then out to the outdoor patio. As a "patio person", I thought it was nicely done. The only obstacle is the gravel which is hard to maneuver with heels on, especially after you have a bottle of wine. Wahoo! offers a nice wine list . :-) The olive and rosemary bread is served warm, yum! The lump crab and avocado appetizer was tasty and the entree special - grouper served over sauteed spinach with wild mushroom risotto was very good. The service was also very good. It was a Saturday night and we were told to take our time, there was no rush and we appreciated that. Definitely, will dine here again.

It really does make me sad to write this review because this used to be a great place. We had our wedding reception here seven years ago and we always come back for our anniversary. Well... things have changed in the past year. You now have to pay $2 for valet parking. For perspective, the Woodfire Grill's valet is tips-only. When I balked and asked where I could park myself, the valet directed me to the cross-street... which is one-way in the other direction. When we finally made it in twenty minutes later, the staff apparently didn't bother to read through our reservation. I had explained ahead of time that we were returning for our anniversary and wanted to sit on the patio because that was where our reception was. The server had no idea where to put us and when I reminded the staff that we'd requested the patio specifically, there was no seating for us. Our server said she'd get us a table and took us to it... still no seating, and other servers telling us to get out of their way to boot. At this point I asked to speak to the manager. I think the manager might have tried to apologize, but all I heard was a few excuses (including "I would have had your table set up by now if you hadn't made me come out here to talk to you") and some bragging about the huge baby shower he had on the patio. I guess the restaurant has decided to just cater to large parties. I can't tell you if the food has gone downhill as much as the service and the money-grubbing because at this point we left (though I will say that brunch buffet looked pretty sloppy). This was once a lovely place, but not anymore.

I had a bad experience tonight. We had a waiter named Michael who was disrespectfull and verging on rude. I would not be likely to go back, and would never sit in his section again!

Before 7pm, it's 2 for 1 appetizers, so definitely take advantage of this deal. I tried the Lump Crab Cakes with spicy Cajun remoulade and the Hawaiian Ahi Tuna Tartare. The Crab cakes were a generous portion and very tasty and meaty. The tartare was a little too spicy and salty, but the quality of the fish was good. The crispy bread and sauces that accompanied the dish were tasty. Joey, the very friendly and personable bartender suggested that I try the Basil Martini made with Crop organic vodka. It was strong and delicious. The restaurant space is beautiful, with the back portion being the most cozy, facing some greenery on the patio.

Someone said that for the price point the food is acceptable, but what's so wrong about that? There are so many places that fail to hit that mark, a mark that Wahoo hits effortlessly. Normally, Wahoo would be just above my price range, but we landed a gift certificate from Half Off Depot and decided to walk on up the other night. We took a friend up there and shared some calamari, had their complimentary bread, and tucked in for dinner! My husband and our friend both had the parmesan chicken with mac and cheese and peas, and I had the Ahi tuna with mashed potatoes and wakame salad. The chicken was fantastic, perfectly cooked and portioned, and the mac and cheese was pretty darn good-- we're conditioned to the mac and cheese at Palate which is rich and creamy and has spoiled us to death, but I wouldn't stick my nose up at Wahoo's given the choice. It's a different kind, not thick and creamy, but still has layers of flavor that sneak up on you. I didn't try the peas, they're not really my thing, but my husband (who loves them) really enjoyed them. My Ahi was cooked perfectly, and served beautifully! I almost took a picture of it, all laid out to present layers of a meal and a little taste of sauce with every bite. The wakame was good, but it's hard to go wrong with that, though the mashed potatoes left a little zing to be desired. I'm a fan of bold potatoes, and I got confused about something and thought they were going to have wasabi in them (which would have been perfect). All in all, we had a very nice meal-- we left satisfied, but not over full, pleased with our very nice service, and left with the feeling of a thoroughly pleasant dining experience. We're looking forward to being able to have lunch there soon and try the sandwiches!

Woohoo for Wahoo! (Sorry, I couldn't resist). I took my mother here a couple of weeks ago for a nice Saturday evening dinner. The service was impeccable and the food was delish. As in music, I only remember the beginning and the end. We started with the mussels. This dish was spectacular. The mussels were seasoned with a little kick but loaded with flavor. I like when restaurants put a spin on a traditional dish and Wahoo didn't disappoint. We finished with the delightful bread pudding. We shared the smaller portion and it was plenty for 2. The entire dinner bill was around $80, with the tip, for a starter, 2 entrees and a shared dessert. But taking mom to din din at a nice place is priceless. The valets were unpretentious and friendly. I'd definitely go back!

With three kids, we don't go out to nice restaurants much anymore. We decided to keep it local and walked to Wahoo last night. It was great, as always. The food was excellent and the service was fantastic. We have not been less than impressed in the years we've been dining here. Wahoo compares with any of the higher end restaurants in Atlanta but the prices are a bit lower, in my opinion. While the profile indicates this place is not good for kids, they were more than accommodating to our two year old that we couldn't shake for the evening. I also hosted a business meeting last summer in Decatur and took all the attendants here for dinner. They were all impressed and the staff at Wahoo was great.

I first went to Wahoo! during Restaurant Week and was extremely pleased with my meal. The dishes that stuck out were the Georgia Trout entree and the Pasta special- Squash ravioli. The cheesy grits with the trout was a nice combination. The creamy, cheesy goodness complemented the pesto butter flavor topped on the fish nicely. The ravioli also had great flavor--rich creamy squash filling paired with crunchy sugared pecans. This meal definitely bumped Wahoo! up to my top 5 restaurants in Atl, or so I thought. The second time around was not as great. In the hopes of reliving the great taste of the Georgia Trout dish, we ordered it again, and changed up the second dish to the Parmesan Encrusted Chicken. The dishes seemed to have been put together quickly and rushed out. The trout definitely did not have the same flavor, but was rather bland, and the sautéed green beans that came with it were mushy and also lacked seasoning. The parmesan encrusted chicken had way too much thyme and overpowered the dish, while the 3-cheese macaroni side tasted like Kraft macaroni and cheese. Don't get me wrong; I enjoy Kraft macaroni but expect more in a nice restaurant, and was expecting more flavor with the supposed melding of 3 cheeses. For dessert, we ordered the bliss cake, which was great. The spices came together nicely, and the warm, spongy texture of the inside of the cake complemented the crunchy exterior nicely. The garden seating in the back of the restaurant is great. The surrounding plants and vines, along with the glass ceiling create a great environment for a date, and/or for a nice dinner with friends. I would return to Wahoo! in the future, but will not be rushing back as I was after the initial visit.

I loved the smell when I walked in the door. It's been such a long time since we've been here that I've forgotten about the food. I took my husband and step-daugther here for dinner for his birthday dinner on a Wed night. It was a light crowd so it was nice. We ordered the fish tacos and crab cake for appetizers and it was delicious. It was very delicate and very well balance with such smoothness that it melts in your mouth. I had the ahi tuna and my husband had the steak. He said his steak was ok and we ordered the fried chicken also. The side dishes were delicious too! It was the best fried chicken I've ever had. The waiter was polite and friendly. The food came out timely. Overall, it was a good experience and I would recommend and come back again. I also loved the music that they played tonight courtesy of the bartender so it added to the ambiance. The owner or manager came by to check to see how our dinner was. When we walked out the kitchen staff even wished us good night. Great customer service!

Some friends were married here this past weekend and it was absolutely beautiful. The back patio and outdoor area were just lovely and perfect for the event. The staff were incredibly kind and accommodating and appeared to go out of their way to make sure everything went off without a hitch. The food was pretty tasty, as well. The Parmesan Crusted Chicken and the Charleston Shrimp & Grits really stuck out to me and deserve special mention. I had never heard of this place prior to this event, but I'm looking forward to going back for dinner or brunch sometime soon.

I finally got around to visiting Wahoo Grill today for lunch. We were seated in the pretty, airy back area which I found very pleasant. The menu seemed a little ordinary to warrant the upscale prices, but the burger I ordered, which came with a smattering of overcooked fries, was very good. The service, however, was not good at all. Most of the wait staff appeared to be more interested in chatting with each other than attending to the diners. When we finally told one of them we were ready to order, she said she would go get our server. When our server arrived, she made it a point to mention that we had apparently confused the other server with her. I don't generally go to a restaurant to be embarrassed by the staff, but whatever. The general inattentiveness continued for the rest of the meal. I would expect any somewhat upscale restaurant to train their wait staff much better than this. Considering the hype, I expected more.

Words cannot express how much I truly enjoyed my wedding at Wahoo Grill. I had my ceremony and reception there this past Saturday. Pam and the entire staff were beyond amazing. Even from the start Pam was helpful and was a pro in wedding planning. When I went for the tasting 2 weeks ago, they were able to accommodate my dietary restrictions and those they couldn't, they gave great alternatives. Im still in awe at how well everything turned out. My husband and I didn't have to want for anything. We needed something out the car, Pam had someone get it. Really made my husband feel like he mattered too. I had no idea my cake or DJ arrived as Pam and Ashley handled everything seamlessly. My 115 guests truly enjoyed themselves and the food was to perfection. Too bad I had no appetite to eat at the wedding but they made sure we did leave with a little taste of what we missed. Two thumbs and all toes up to Wahoo for making my day so special

I've been to Wahoo! twice for brunch and twice for dinner and I'm heading back next week with my sister. The porch is fantastically romantic on a warm evening and the food has been consistently good each time I've been there. The atmosphere is warm, charming and the servers have always been attentive. The dining room can get a little loud on a busy night but all in all, this is a good solid place for brunch or dinner.

Very inviting ambiance whether you sit inside or out - like you're eating at the house of a close friend. Our waitress was fantastic - knowledgeable about the menu and wine list, smart and funny, provided outstanding service,. The wine list is great (haven't seen Pouilly Fuisse on a wine list in a long time!) The $19 prix fixe is an outstanding value, the heirloom tomato salad and shrimp and grits were delicious and perfectly prepared. We highly recommend Wahoo and can't wait to go back.

Wa-BOO. I went for brunch and I literally had the worst hollandaise sauce I've ever had in my life. It tasted like melted butter and baby powder. I sent it back to the chef and he agreed and re-made all of the hollandaise for the day. Despite the fact that they gave me a certificate for a free brunch to make up for this grody meal I don't feel the need to ever go back. But the patio is really nice. Too bad it's being wasted on this lousy restaurant.

Wahoo is without a doubt my favorite restaurant in Atlanta/Decatur. I don't even know where to start. They have an amazing brunch buffet - shrimp and grits, pastries, pasta salad, fruit. They also have a great patio space in the back of the restaurant. It is the perfect spot for an evening out in the summer or even winter. The patio stays pretty warm. They have good size portions on the entrees. My favorites are the NY Strip with Blue Cheese and whatever Grilled Salmon dishes they are offering. They usually have one that stays on the menu and then a special. They have some of the best grits in Atlanta. I like my grits creamy with a course consistency. These are sure to please. We had our rehearsal dinner for our wedding on their outdoor patio. They have added a tented area. They took care of everything and it was a really beautiful space to have a close knit summer dinner. Pam and her staff will really take care of you if you're planning a party.

Ate here nearly a year ago now, second date with my current and wonderful lady. She lives in Decatur and I wanted to take her some place nice, this looked to fit the bill. Though hard to find and murder to park at, we got in for a brief wait. Really nice decor, relaxing and warm feel, I liked it already. We were seated in a semi patio area, outside but covered, and quickly ordered drinks. They came out quick but were a little weak, so I went to a beer next. The food also came out quick and it was excellent, we finished up and spent some time just talking, but I think the waiter wanted us to order more or move on. Hmph. When leaving I decided to split the bill between my card and cash and explained it, but he somehow mixed that up and charged the full amount, then asked why I gave him $50. I explained again, and instead of refunding I think he charged again, and maybe again, or at least allotted for it, as the next place we went my card was declined. Turns out he ran my card for the full amount (it was like $110) four separate times, depleting my piddly checking account. Dammit. It was corrected by Monday close of business but I was still stuck borrowing a $20 to cover drinks later. That sucks. Honest mistake I'm sure, and I don't hold a grudge over it considering the meal was so good otherwise.

The food here was excellent. Hubby and I both had the lobster/shrimp linguine pasta. I also had the fisherman's stew. Everything was tasty, even the bread was unique (it had olives in it). The only thing we didn't like was the macaroni, definitely not the worst, but not the best either. The restaurant is also really nice and the service was pretty good. The drinks were a bit pricey, so we didn't order any. Overall, I would and plan to visit again.

Another great seafood place. Pretty unusual location (next to an auto-body shop and train tracks), but that's par for the course in Atlanta, I think. Much quieter than it would seem to be; the soft decor keeps the noise down, and the seating is very comfortable. The wait staff is very knowledgeable and not pushy at all. They actually let you take your time ordering and eating. This reminded me of a more European style of eating out, where you are allowed (possibly, encouraged) to take your time at the table. The menu was pretty varied, though it is certainly a fish place. My wife and I split the Calamari as an appetizer. She had crab cakes, and I had seared tuna. We then shared a raspberry-thing for dessert. This was more than enough food! The wine list was sufficient for our purposes, with a reasonable selection at reasonable prices. There is an outdoor seating area, where we did not eat. i have been told it is a great place to sit, though. I would definitely go back and plan to.

Delish! Definitely stop here for a romantic date, a yummy bruch or just a fabulous dinner! Bites to try: calamari, bbq shrimp with potato cakes, the shrimp and grits, mussels are wonderful, and i super love the chopped salad with grilled shrimp! yummo! Also they have desserts that can't be missed...including bread pudding...omg! wahoooo! I love this place!

When I saw the price for the buffet at Wahoo, I nearly crapped my pants. Who charges nearly $20 for a freakin' brunch buffet???!!! People who have a shit-ton of high quality, incredibly tasty food, that's who! Beef tips, blackened chicken, awesome grits, more fruit than you can imagine, eggs. Half of what was on the buffet I forget, for God's sake. MAN!!! I can't say enough about how good the food is here. I really can't. And our waitress was incredible. She was hilarious (in a Jane Lynch kinda way!) I'm serious, if you have $20, eat weekend brunch here. In fact, if you have $20, and you need a kidney transplant, and someone is offering you a kidney for $20, and if it's a choice between the kidney and the brunch at Wahoo... Well, take the kidney. You'd be a moron not to. (Then steal $20 from someone and go to Wahoo.)

I really like this place. I have eaten here twice now as we went back after our first time. I am sure we will go back again. The atmosphere is nice, the wait staff friendly and helpful; and the food is good. Sometimes it can be a little packed and with tight quarters, it can be a little crazy. Overall, it's a very nice place to go. The first time we went I had the crab cakes. They were a little unequally salty but they were still extremely tasty. I did have some sort of blackberry something for dessert this last time and I can say that it was not that great. It was supposed to be a cobbler or something but it was super dry and not much to it. The outside sitting area is quite nice too and your table has plenty of room for you to have some intimate time with your company. I look forward to our next visit.

Always have a good meal and fun time @ Wahoo. The service is always very good, the food is excellent and the ambience is great. The Chocolate Bliss cake is perfection. We also enjoyed the spiced Ahi tuna, parmesan chicken and Caesar salad. The lovely bartender helped us select a delicious Zinfandel. Great time! Great meal.

After a busy morning, we were in search of "the best" Bloody Mary in Atlanta. So, after doing a little bit of research on our cell phones, we found Wahoo! A Decatur Grill - and I'm so glad we did!!! Their Bloody Marys are large and at $5 each, you just can't beat it. Plus, they're the best Bloody Marys I've had outside of Vegas. There are some good choices on their breakfast/brunch menu and I had the Traditional Omelette with hashbrown casserole. We ordered a side of their white cheddar grits to test them out and they were also quite tasty. The hashbrown casserole was very flavorful, with onions, a touch of sour cream and black pepper. Even the service and coffee were good. If you go during the day, I recommend sitting in the quaint garden room in the back - very nice atmosphere. I can't wait until the weather warms up so we can enjoy brunch in their outdoor back patio! Will definitely visit Wahoo! again - next time, for their Sunday brunch buffet. Wild horses couldn't keep me away from those delish Bloody Marys! :)

Service here was very friendly and the food was good. The atmosphere is nice and casual in a very inviting way. I will return if in the area again. I tried the trout with grits and mustard greens. No clue what I would get, being from the north, though have had trout before, but I like to try new things. Plus I just moved to NC so I have to start getting on board. Overall I thought the meal needed a little more flavor but it was well done and still good. A solid 4. The mustard greens had no flavor of mustard; should they? Again read above the no clue part. They were more smoky to me and I liked them. If that makes you eat here you are probably crazier than a loon. Still liked them. The grits ... well. Again no clue if they were good since this was the first time I had grits. That being said they were the best grits I ever had! Again see the loon comment. But not sure what the deal is with grits. They tasted like mashed potatoes lacking the potato flavor. But I am far from an authority on this. If I had the option of grits or a punch in the face I would take the grits, but by a slim margin. The trout with the pecans was good, and that was what was the main meal and the main deal. Nice wine list with several unique offerings especially if you order by the bottle. I sat at the bar and bottles were half price Tuesday through Thursday but I wasn't informed of this. I should have been but I was alone so it probably made no difference. A real good deal if I had a friend. Actually I have 1 but my wife (whatever she sees in me) was home.

Good food and nice patio. It was a little loud sitting in the "indoor" patio, but nothing to make me stay away. Love that they serve brunch and a regular menu on sat and sun. Only a few veg/vegan opens but all was good.

I've been here for both brunch and dinner. For dinner I ordered their salmon, which was okay, nothing special. For brunch, I always order Eggs Benedict whenever it is on the menu. Of all the Eggs Benedicts I have ordered, this is by far the best! I absolutely love their Eggs Benedict! It's served on a crispy croissant, which is a little different from what I'm used to but it made the dish! Their white cheddar grits are also good!!!

I have gone to this restaurant twice. Once for dinner and another for a late lunch. I will give you a run down of food we had on both visits, service and decor. APPS - fish stew - I did not care for it much until I added a hot sauce packet that I happened to have from lunch in my bag. Wow, that added great flavor that was missing. whatever was in it was a little rubbery. - scallops wrapped in maple bacon - AMAZING!!!!!!!SUCCULENT! -calamari - pretty darn good DINNER - a "pasta feature" - ravioli with some sort of seafood inside (can not remember name) did not like. flavor was just not hitting it. - Wahoo dinner - again nothing special and a little dry -Grilled tenderloin sandwich - ok - -Salmon BLT - ok DESSERTS -bliss cake - AWESOME! -blackberry cobbler - tasty but gritty. -bread pudding - nothing special, could have done without it. SERVICE We had pretty good service. I have never had so much water served to me in all my life! On both occasions! The first time was packed for dinner and the service was still good. The second was for late lunch and not as busy and even better service. DECOR The decor was nice. Best feature was the back indoor and outdoor patio, which I did not even know about until my second visit. Would I go back? Probably for appetizers and dessert. The scallops and bliss cake was that good. Other than that...without my scoutmob coupon, no so much.

Can't say anything wrong about Wahoo! Grill....except that I wish I had known about this place sooner! I had my birthday and business launch here last Saturday, and I LOVE IT! The atmosphere, vibe, decor all A++. It's a hidden gem in Decatur, but its great for a gathering, a date night, or if you want to have a drink at the bar. The place is choppy, because they have several areas for different things. The outdoor patio is often used for special events like weddings, catered buffet events, in addition to just eating outside. The inside has 2 main parts where one side is open to the glass outdoor beautiful scenery and the other side, is more of a tucked away hideaway. They also have a private room for private parties! Will be going back, service was superb!

Went here for Saturday night dinner with some friends. I arrived early and sat at the bar. Jane, the bartender, is not messing around. She makes great cocktails. The polenta appetizer was so yummy. My friends and I sat outside and had great service. We shared calamari and a beet salad. My steak wasn't all that great. Over-cooked and not a top of the line cut of meat, which was disappointing for the price. Still, I'll give it another try.

Note that this review is from only my initial visit with Wahoo! I had the house salad and ahi tuna dinner. Maybe it's because it had been awhile since I had ahi tuna, but I thought it was delish. My friends had the crabcakes and parmesan chicken. They said their meals, too, were quite good. Our service was also good. It was crowed, but I liked that in the space. I plan on going again, especially since I bought a halfoffdepot coupon! I'll update my review after my next visit.

Three and 1/2. Solid establishment, friendly waitstaff and great seating. Menu is a little dated, it could use a freshening. Items have that 2007 feel - nothing new or innovative. Volume level and easy feel makes it a perfect choice for a date meal.

Just going to keep this simple, not specify which food nor drink we had. Came here for a special occassion the two of us, sat outside under the stars and heat lamp, everything was dreamy and exceptional, including the free "event" dessert. So nice. Service, timing, portion, quality of food. Came back for another event - dads birthday - 6 months later (last Dec '11) and again, simply they do the right thing by all aspects from the front door to the kitchen, to the bill and an appreciation for your business. Straight forward restaurant business that seems like the wait staff were all trained at higher end places and decided to work here b/c of the clients or owners. Not sure if that is true at all but they come across with a good attitude. Thanks WAHOO!!!!! or WOOHOOO like the 5 stars above on yelp say!!!! The name says it all!!!

We've been going to Wahoo since they opened. It is a neighborhood gem. I wish I had Wahoo in my neighborhood. The menu is a little limited but they seem to hit all the categories so everyone can find something they like. The patio in the back is the bomb for Spring and Fall. The open kitchen in the main dining room is great too. The one thing that really stands out is the value. The food quality is as good as any fine dining restaurant in the city but you won't feel like you will be taking out a home equity loan to dine here. (Like Home Equity exists anymore). The owner actually picked up our diner on our anniversary one year. WOW.

I was here last night with my girlfriend and we had a great time. The place is in a great location between Decatur and Kirkwood next to Ink & Dagger Tattoo (btw best tattoo's in Atlanta). The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable, Im not sure if I enjoyed the decor or the food the most. It's a beautiful place with a mostly fish menu. That being said there are plenty of options for other dishes. We ordered muscles, ahi tuna and a NY strip steak, all cooked to order. Each better than the last. I skipped the Blackberry cobbler but only because we were full from the entree's. I got to use a Scoutmob deal there also so I got a discount of a wonderful meal. I hear that they have a sweet brunch buffet on the weekends so I'll be back for sure.

I went here for Sunday brunch with two of my girlfriends. We sat outside on the beautiful patio on a perfect 70-degree day. The service was spectacular. The food is a bit pricey for what it is--but it was delicious! The atmosphere was decent--we had arrived at around 12:30 and the restaurant was mostly empty. The reason we were brought here was because we had a ScoutMob coupon. Otherwise we would not have traveled so far for brunch. I might return to this restaurant if I am feeling in a "splurging" mood since I think it is a bit overpriced.

We've been to this place maybe 10 times but hadn't been there in about a year before Friday 4/30. A recent discount coupon had us returning for a good meal and some of our favorite calamari. Did I say calamari? Once seated we decided that mussels was more our thing and they were nearly perfect. The bread served (a weak link in too many local places) was excellent and the garlicky butter was super. Our waitress was super and offered me a taste of a Riesling I was debating. (Holy Moley was that good juice!) Our Ahi Tuna and crab cakes were beautiful and rock-star tasty. The crab cakes were rich as butter but that's the way [uh huh] I like it. Whatever you do do not pass on desert, and get the bread pudding. I'd had it there before and still I was surprised at how amazing it was. I dont think it was ever as good as this version. I'd have to say it the best I ever had, and I've had tons of the stuff. Go early or plan to wait. Valet parking is easiest. The outdoor area in back is a good choice but I'd opt for any of the cushiony wall seats if I could and then let your sweetie sit on the soft side. I cant give 5 stars due to the lame music on our visit and the very average seating. I couldnt find fault with anything else. Well worth your hard earned money.

I stopped going here for brunch because Homegrown Atl is so much cheaper, but I really do enjoy Wahoo. Their menu is interesting and most of it tastes good. Of course in these types of restaurants, there's always that one gourmet dish that doesn't quite hit the palate right. The ambience is good and romantical (haha).

I was lucky enough to be treated to dinner here recently. Wahoo has been one of those places I'd always been meaning to try but had never gotten around to it for whatever reason. I'm glad I finally did. It's a nice restaurant and I think we all had a good meal there overall. Calamari - I enjoyed the calamari. It was pretty well prepared though could've been a little lighter. I'd possibly get this again. Wedge salad - This was a typical wedge salad. It was pretty decent, but didn't really standout. I'd probably try something else instead of getting this again. Pesto grilled chicken sandwich - I was really just in more of a sandwich mood than an entrée mood so I went with this sandwich. It was served on some good bread and came with arugula, tomatoes, and raspberry vinaigrette on the sandwich. I really enjoyed this sandwich. It was one of the better sandwiches I've had out recently. Actually, a lot of their sandwiches looked pretty good from what I remember. Fries - Pretty generic frozen bag fries. I'd pass on these. Service - Kind of a mixed bag. It seemed good initially, but seemed to drop off a bit towards the end of the meal. It was lack of communication on the server's part regarding deal on wine. Overall, I think it was a good experience, but I think I personally missed the main focus of the restaurant because of the particularly mood I was in. Next time I'll be sure to dive a bit deeper into their seafood offerings since seafood is really the bread and butter of this place it seems. 3.5

I live in LA and took my mom & son here to eat while visiting her in Georgia. First, it's bigger on the inside and beautifully designed. Secondly, the prices & portion sizes were perfect for lunch. Third, the food was off the chain. My mom ordered the trout... Yummy. I had the Shrimp and grits....Hmmmm. My son 6, for the first time ate all his cooked spinach ( side dish). If this place was in LA I would eat here once a week.

Wahoo is quite the spot. Not much to look at outside with a valet service and crummy street parking, but inside its rather charming. The staff is really friendly and the place is fantastic for lunch or brunch. You can sit inside, outside, or on the patio. I had the tofu stir fry and the mixed fruit plate. It was both filling and delicious. They even added extra veggies to the stir fry. The fruit plate had red grapes and fresh pineapple. Everything seemed to be fresh and flavorful. There are plenty of little drinks and cocktails to choose from. There are even vegan deserts. I am looking forward to my next trip to Wahoo.

I used to eat here regularly. Then their food quality just dropped and it turned on me. That fisherman's stew? Yeah used to love that. Then it became this purreed fish soup (not kidding!). Olive bread was awesome but then it would always arrive cold. Even the coconut cake! That was harder to eat than cardboard. Haven't gone back in 6 months. Haven't missed it.

One of my absolute favorites in Atlanta! The crab cakes are fantastic! Last time I was there, I ordered a side of cheddar grits (just a side, because I can't not order the crab cakes), and they were incredible. They even helped me convince my northerner mother that grits are similar to risotto and flavorful when they're cooked right. The food is great and the service is friendly. The enclosed garden room is also superb in the middle of the summer. It's nice to have a view of the outside without actually dealing with the heat.

Wahoo! is without a doubt my favorite restaurant in Atlanta. The food is amazing, the service is fantastic and fun and it's a good value. It's the kind of restaurant where you can go with your vegetarian friend, your grouchy old grandmother and your meat loving uncle and everyone will have a wonderful evening. I can only say positive things. I recommend ANYTHING, but a few of my favorite items are the salmon blt, the wahoo and any steak that they are serving. Also, the bread that comes at the beginning of the meal is fantastic. It could be a meal in and of itself! Do yourself a favor and GO!

This is a review of the wedding venue as well as the food. We had our wedding there last night and it was amazing. The patio and covered area are wonderful places to have your wedding. Extremely reasonable and so well run. The staff went above and beyond to do everything they could to make sure our wedding day was truly special. They made the night wonderful for us and very, very stress free! Food was amazing. Lexi and Pam were great to work with. Lexi ended up running our event and couldn't have done a better job! I would 100% recommend this restaurant to anyone for food or for a wedding venue!!!! Great job on the wedding and great place to eat! We

The service is something short of terrible. After not letting us make a reservations (told we couldn't because we were a party of two) we were told to just come in because it was not busy. Once we got there they said we couldn't sit on the patio because they had reservations. This was disheartening since we went to sit on the patio and enjoy the beautiful evening but- OK fine- they must be busy. We (finally) got sat in the garden room which was freezing cold despite the doors were open and it was nearly 70 outside. When we sat we noticed that there were not even 1/8 of the tables on the patio filled. Within the 45 minutes we were there, 5 tables of 2 were sat outside and the other tables remained unoccupied. When we asked about this they said, "you should have made a reservation." When I told her we had tried but been told we couldn't do that with only two her response was, "I don't know what to tell you, I didn't answer the phone" and walked away. We rushed through dinner to be done with it and go get dessert at a place that we were allowed to sit outside. The time before we asked the waitress to explain the Wahoo dish (the house signature dish!) and she said "Uh, it's white. I don't really know- I'm new." and then proceeded to not ask someone "who knew" what was it in. As my Grandma would say, "The service is the pitts." The only redeeming factor is that the food is pretty good [but nothing spectacular]. Needless to say, we will not be returning...

Great brunch location and you couldn't ask for a better setup. Patio seating on a lazy Sunday morning with great service and wonderfully flavored food. Not having availability to good Southern cooking in Cali, I opted for the shrimp and grits and yeah, it was good. My friends had the same as well as the crab-cake eggs Benedict. It was all so good... so so good. Oh and they do have a buffet that I'm sure could really hurt you and it took all of my will power NOT to get it but man did it look good.

This morning was the second time I ate at Wahoo! and it was just as lovely as I remembered. My friends and I sat in the garden room which was plenty warm despite the chilly drizzle outside. My experience this morning was basically what any dining out experience should be; great food, prompt and friendly service. This place is cozy and has homey but elegant decor. Nice enough for a celebration but not too fancy for jeans on a Sunday morning. This price was reasonable for the portions and the quality actually exceed my expectation. The grits were especially good. I will be going back, when its warmer, to enjoy the eclectically designed patio. My one gripe is the mandatory valet parking. The parking situation did not seem to necessitate valet and I can park my car. Other than that it was ideal for a relaxing brunch with friends. I'm sure I will go back for other occasions too.

We lived in Decatur for several years, but didn't make it to Wahoo while we were there. Our loss. We had to travel back to Atlanta for a family funeral, and I wanted to arrange for a place for all the cousins and friends to gather afterwards-ALL 14 of us. I spoke with Ski at the Whhoo and explained our situation. He and the other managers were absolutely wonderful in accomodating our party. They were gracious and understanding and set us up to all be together in the main room. The food and service were top notch. It was a perfect place for us all to gather and I can't tell you how thankful I am that we were given such understanding and professional service-and great food. It was a wonderful place to laugh, eat well, and talk the evening away!

Amazingly friendly staff (woohoo for Travis, if you still work there!) And the food....oh man....it's a tie between the food and the atmosphere, especially if you can sit on the back patio on a sunny day and enjoy your fresh lunch with friends....it doesnt get better. My friend is hoping to have her small, intimate wedding in the back "yard" and I'm crossing my fingers that she does. It will be beautiful and homey....and I'll leave with a HAPPY belly! Great place for a date, or a night out with girlrfiends. Mmmmmm.

Wahoo! is a great little restaurant with a fabulous patio located within walking distance of the boyfriend's house. The decor is nice and romantic, and their wine and cocktail list has never let me down, which to me means a great date spot! They have two for one appetizers at the bar from 5 to 7, which means you can try my favorites, barbecue shrimp over potato cakes and mussels steamed in a sherry cream sauce for only ten dollars total. If you eat like me, two appetizers and a split sandwich is the ideal meal for two, and that is only around twenty dollars. (Try the pesto chicken sandwich or the salmon blt...both are fantastic.)

Yes! Just saying the name makes me automatically happy! Wahoooo! And, well, also makes me think of Yahoo. But otherwise, from my visit to Wahoo, I was schooled in the fact that the wahoo is a type of fish, too. So now the name association game goes a bit like this: - Waaahooo! (having fun) - Yahooo (search engine) - wahoo. (the fleshy fish) - Wahoo! A Decatur Grill (super tasty dining experience with killer back patio) Yes, welcome to my brain. During my trip, there was a diverse crowd, and a short wait for a table. . and we ended up sitting on the patio. I will say that I had, some, uh, issues finding it (pre GPS days) but it was worth the wait!

I liked this place! My girlfriend and I recently had a very pleasant meal at the Wahoo! Grill. I had the ahi tuna which was delicious. The sauce they scattered about the tuna was awesome. She had one of the weekly specials which was both tasty and reasonably priced. We had some sort of chocolate cake with ice cream and berries for desert that I really enjoyed. Our waiter was personable and professional. Be prepared to tip well, because the wait staff will earn it. The average plate is about $20, but you get your money's worth in flavor, atmosphere, and service.

Yahoo!! for Wahoo. First off 10.00 cork fee is more then reasonable (some places charge 20.00) which I find is ridiculous. Mike the waiter was very nice and gave great recommendations for the entrees. He definitely recommended the special of the day which was a NY strip w/ blue cheese and mashed potatoes. My friend got the chicken w/ veggies and macaroni and cheese. The meats were so good, but the sides were lackluster. The Mac n Cheese could have been a bit better it was a bit too a dente for me. I also would have enjoyed the potatoes more if it was cooked w/ real potatoes. Tasted like instant Idaho brand Mashed from Publix. The resto is hidden on College Ave. near Agnes Scott. Nice cute quaint place. I really enjoyed the Tuna Tar Tar- but quantity for 11.00 bucks a pop was a mid meager. If they ooopfed their sides, made it less publix and more Self- made I would definitely give them an extra star. The chicken was moist, nicely crusted and very delicious. The meats for both entree was prepared perfectly, and very well seasoned. Fix the sides of Mac N cheese and Mashed Tots, and this place has potential!

Reviews say it all. Bad management. Had reservations for birthday and father's day. We were asked to wait if kitchen wanted us to sit 15 minutes early. What? Never told wedding party had patio. We were Asked to sit at the door, after having had reservations for 2 weeks. Menu has changed and so has management and it shows. Manager Told me he could careless what I posted about a review. Never in my thoughts for a dinner again!

My sister and I dined at Wahoo late one Friday evening, after several months of wondering what the establishment is all about. Plus, I had a Savvy Shopper coupon on-hand at the time, so we drove over to Kirkwood to give it a shot. I was a bit perturbed that the parking was valet only, so make sure to have a few extra bucks with you. The hostess radiated zero personality and seated us quietly with a hint of blah. Our charming waiter Michael made up for the hostess' lack of pizazz. He enthusiastically described the dinner specials and took a lot of care to recommend a wine to my sister that would complement the entree she eventually chose--a wine that not only would suit the meal but also fall into place with her taste preferences. I requested a rather conservative appetizer--a Caesar salad--and I also sampled my sister's tuna tartare, cut into cubes and piled into a heap with some type of sauce. The toast that came with the tuna tartare was brick-hard but still flavorful. My sister and I both opted to order one of the dinner specials--turbo breaded in panko crumbs, served with mashed potatoes and a vegetable medley. I was not familiar with turbo, which is a fish, and it was very flaky and light. I enjoyed the fish, but the panko crumbs tasted a little bit like kitty litter to me...perhaps because the crumbs look similar to the Feline Pine kitty litter I use at home...either way, I still cleaned my plate. The mashed potatoes were fluffy and buttery, and I was thrilled that the vegetable medley didn't look and taste like the veggie medleys high school cafeterias often serve. Wahoo really gets the vegetable trio right, with carrots, squash and red onion, providing just the right amount of kick. My sister and I were too stuffed to cram down any dessert. Although we were seated immediately, I thought the service was a touch slow. But, we loved our waiter, and his charm made the food worth the wait.

Wahoo! gets 4 stars for ambiance, 4 stars for service, 5 stars for dessert (coconut cake), and 2 stars for dinner. The mister had a much better dinner, though, so we'll average that out at a 3. My dinner- the avocado wrap- was disappointing. I've had better wraps at Roly Poly. But Mark really liked the trout, so I should probably give Wahoo another shot and pick something else on the menu. Or maybe they just don't do vegetarian fare as well. The atmosphere is great- the inside has a comfortable, understated elegance, just like a true Southern lady. The patio is oh-so-romantic with soft, twinkling lights. The service is friendly and perfectly paced. And the dessert! Oh, the dessert! After our first bite of the thick, moist cake covered in creamy, sweet icing and the exact right amount of flaky coconut...our eyes met...narrowed...and the battle of the forks ensued. We tore into that poor slice of cake with an unholy passion, desperate to fill our mouths with the sublimely sinful goodness. And despite our attempts to out-do each other by getting the most forkfuls of cake, it was such a large slice that it actually became a struggle to finish it off. We managed, though. I can't wait to try the other desserts, although I doubt they can beat the supreme perfection of the coconut cake. Mmmm mmm mmm.

As usual Wahoo! does not disappoint. Great selection of main course dishes coupled with personable service. So glad that after all these years it is still very very consistent. And by that I mean, excellent. After not having been in a couple of years, and taking my wife with me who had never been, it is good to have this back on the list of great places to eat in Decatur.

Coming from a small town with not many non-chain restaurants, Wahoo! was a GREAT dining experience for our getaway weekend a few months ago. I really want to give it 4.5 stars, but for a few minor things, so I am rounding down to 4. Agreeing with others here, the ambiance is nice (and I didn't even make it onto the patio) BUT they have no waiting area. We had a group of 6 and we filled the foyer and it felt crowded since there was another small group in front of us. If we hadn't been able to be seated right away, it would have been worse. (Since it was three months ago, I am hazy on recalling if there was a bar - I think there was, but I remember thinking it was too crowded for our party to wait there.) The service was good (not great) as I expect my water to be filled and cold. The decanters were nice, and I liked having them on the table, but with the number in our party, the two decanters were empty in one go-round. And there wasn't much ice so it was barely cool. BUT...the good points? The two things that made the evening completely worthwhile (aside from the people we went with!)...the calamari appetizer and the coconut cake. Simply, it was the best calamari I have ever had. A sweet and slightly spicy sauce, with I want to say banana peppers fried in with it. Completely unexpected and totally worthwhile. I would make a meal of just those. And the cake? Oh, the cake. I am a coconut cake fan, but this just blew my socks off. If we weren't headed out on a road trip, I would have bought a cake to take with me. Hell, I even considered asking them to ship me one. I would marry that cake if I could. The most telling this is if we would go back on another trip to Atlanta...and the answer is a resounding yes!

This has been a local favorite of mine since they opened over four years ago. The atmosphere is good, especially the outside patio. Service is always just right. The fish dishes, as expected, are all tasty. The brunch is terrific. I've never heard a complaint from anyone about the buffet. Last week after getting home late from work, my husband and I were looking for a quiet dinner. We decided on Wahoo as it is close to home and serves lots of good veggies with the entrees. We were seated in the outside patio area and greeted by one of our favorite servers. Looks like pleasant relaxing evening is ahead. Then we received a surprise, Monday - Thursday there is a new prix fixe menu in addition to the old menu. Single serving sized appetizer, small salad and entree for $18. Four or five selections in each category. Great deal. I was planning on ordering the trout dinner and it was one of the featured entrees, so my decision was made. Another option was the wild salmon. The salmon was $22 on the regular menu - to include the appetizer and salad reduced the price by $4, so my husband ordered that. Appetizers were calamari and mussels. The calamari is served with a sweet/sour Asian style sauce instead of the usual marinara and is really tasty. The mussels were very fresh. As described on the menu, they were smaller than Wahoo's usual serving, but large enough to satisfy. I'm not much of a salad person, but they were good. It 's hard to make a salad special in my opinion. The biggest surprise were the entrees. I was anticipating a smaller than usual serving, but the plates contained the usual generous portions. My trout included two filets, a large mound of grits and succotash. The large piece of salmon was served with green beans, the veggie of the day and potatos. The trout is a favorite of mine and it did not disappoint. The succotash contained slightly over cooked lima beans, but I have had it at Wahoo before and it is usually an excellent side. The salmon was good and the beans served with it were excellent. Wahoo is always a good option and it has never disappointed me. ps, the desserts are really good. The fruit cobbler is excellent and most of the cakes are from Southern Sweets.

Truly five star experience for Sunday brunch, my wife ordered the crab cakes and they were large and very tasty. I had the brunch buffett and it was AMAZING, everything from broiled fillet to shrimp and grits to eggs, bacon sausage, french toast, pastries (the peach bread was to do for). We sat in the garden room which is open to the outside yet air conditioned and bright and airy. You really would never guess how pleasant this place is from looking at the outside. There was a guy playing gentle guitar to really help set the mood. Our waitress was fantastic, she always had a smile on her face and was super helpful, even telling us she could place our bloody mary and mimosa order at 12:15 and to get it to us asap. This was a top notch brunch experience, we'll be back (again and again).

Wahoo seemed a little expensive for what you get, but the atmosphere is really awesome. The decor and little touches like the rustic water bottles are charming. We didn't get to check out the patio, but I hear it's really nice. There were several larger groups on a random Wednesday night, so it was kind of loud, but the service was really quick. Try the potato cakes---oh so yummy!
