Two Gokul Sweets in Decatur and right across from each other?? Yes!! I was planning on going to Gokul Sweets off Dekalb Industrial Way after heading off to Sona Imports. I had to get my Hindi movies! I like going to Sona Imports cause the owners know me. I've been going there since I was 5 years old. My mom took me and that's how I got hooked to Hindi movies and it hasn't stopped since then :D The new Gokul Sweets is a couple doors down Sona Imports. It's in the shopping center as Patel Brothers. This is Desi Town! It has grown so much since then. I see a new location of Chinese Dhaba and Royal Sweets too. The setup at new Gokul Sweets is just like the other location, except the sweets/desserts are located on the left hand side instead of right. There is definitely more people at new location, maybe because of the convenience of it being in Desi Town. My favorite Indian sweets is jalebi. I've had jalebi from many other places like Royal Sweets and Rajbhog Cafe but no one makes it like Gokul Sweets!! Love it. Ordered many sweets along with some food like Schezwan Fried Rice and Pani Puri. Still so good. I love Gokul Sweets. Seriously do not miss the meat when coming here.

This is their second location and it isn't as good as their first one. The seating is so uncomfortable, I felt like I was sitting with everyone else in the restaurant. The food isn't as flavorful either. My signature favorite, their fried rice, was a big miss at this location but is ALWAYS awesome at the other location. The quantity was also about half of the other location. I am NOT knocking Gokul, this place is the spot if you crave Indian food, but this new location wasn't impressive. The other location across the street is how this place became famous and I will stick to that location.

As an Indian, I felt that the food here is comparable to what someone would eat at home. The food was great, especially the Dosas. The service is not good though, but that is to be expected at any Indian restaurant. Also, the restaurant is not the biggest, and the ambiance is not of a restaurant. Despite the ambiance and the service, I come here all the time to have great Indian food.

This place is sketchy, cunning, and deceiving when it come to prices, customer service and food. I ordered samosa chat and falooda drink. and costed me $10 bucks and it should normally be around $ 6 to 7 bucks in a decent Indian fast food place and you don't get see the prices unless you grab the laminated menu which does not have all menu items. After a long wait for 30 min for what it takes 5 min to prep my order. I have to ask the cashier to bag my food that been sitting on the counter. By then the icecream in falooda had melted and became watery. The samosa is just bad, greasy, no flavor and had a musty smell all over from the oil it is fried in. who know how long they have been frying in the same oil?. Even the frozen bombay bites samosas tastes better than these. Not going back,

great sweets - they have amazing collections and very fresh sweets. However, I am not 100% sure how to rate their cafe - its 100% south indian. South Indian food is very different than what most of Indian eats! Dosa wrap is good, samosa is good - just be careful and do not try items without knowing much about it. HOWEVER - sweets are GREAT and 5 STAR

This is my favorite place for Indian sweets!!! They have wide variety of Sweets which are DELICIOUS. And HANDS DOWN for falooda, it's my all time favorite specially the kesar pista one is just so yumm!!

I came here a few days after going to the other one. I had the dahi puri chaat and a rose lassi. The dahi puri chaat was really good but I was disappointed in the rose lassi. Not enough rose flavor. Oh well. I will be coming back to try their other items. Service was really nice.

Good chaat, delicious Pao Bhajji and Ragda Patti. The only down side was the Masala Dosa. Sambar was on a sweeter side, chutneys were lousy. Again very basic fadt food concept like most Indian joints at this corner of Church St.

Years ago their food used to be good. Don't know what it's like now since we stopped eating there, nowadays I only drop by to get a kulfi or a box of sweets. Their mithai is really good, always tastes fresh. The gobi manchurian and schezwan noodles are good.

I am ONLY reviewing the sweets, NOT the savory food (ie curries, samosas). Gokul's sweets are by far some of the best I have ever had. You can mix and match them too and buy by the pound. Their selection is unbeatable and the taste is out of this world. I wish I remembered the names of some of my favorites and I would tell them, but just try a little bit of this and a little bit of that- you'll find your own. I like the white sweet circle shaped ones topped with savory cream and cherry- they are my go-to each and every time. Thank goodness I don't live too close or I would be chunkier than I am.

The place is ok for Indian sweets but not extraordinary in terms of food available here..One thing I will never understand is their prices...I have ordered same items on few different occasions and for some strange reason prices always vary... apart from the mysterious pricing, their chaat menu to some extent is the only thing I would recommend anyone...everything else tastes tastes different from authentic flavor..

Skip this place if you care for hygiene and cleanliness ... They served me stale food, sweet dish was tasting sour ... On being confronted they sheepishly apologized ... unfriendly folks ... There are better Indian fast food joints near by ... avoid Gokul

Really bad pav bhaji! There is no flavor at all. Other chaats (small plates) are mediocre as well. The ambiance can be significantly improved, and cleanliness really needs attention. Not a place I would want to go again.
