My favorite place-- ask for Julio- he's great! The kids chicken is like the fajita meat and great prices for a lot of food. My mom and I love the margaritas...my husband loves the salads and My dad loves the wings.

Good prices, very very fast service. Uninventive and not particularly good food. They seem to have about 5 things they actually make, and they mix and match those things for the vast majority of their menu items and call it different things. For example enchiladas are burritos with sauce poured on top... It's fine if you want something fast, otherwise... Not so much.

Was there alone tonight 8/3/2015 so I sat at the bar, waited about 5 minutes before anyone even ask me what I wanted to drink, at that time I had to ask for a menu but no one ever came to take my food order, the bar tender was more interested in feeding himself than he was taking care of paying customers and at times seemed like he was trying to stay hidden.

WARNING. Had the Steak Ranchero last night. Heavily salted and the texture was off. I found out why when I woke up at 2AM explosively ill. Here it is past noon and I still can't leave the house. Won't go into detail, but I'm dehydrated from all the fluids I'm loosing being sick from the bad steak. UPDATE: I got to wondering what score the Health Department gave the restaurant so I googled "dawsonville restaurant score" and was in for a shock. Of the almost 100 restaurant scores the Health Department inspected El Campesino had the worst score of the bunch. In fact, it is the worst score I've ever seen a restaurant get. They scored a 68-D. Yikes!!! A 68-D!!! I'll be calling the Health Department on Monday to report my experience.

Second time here. First time there was a bug in my chicken soup. Second time I ordered the worst fish tacos ive ever had. 3 tiny filets in three small corn tortillas. Sour cream, tomatoes, lettuce, and FRENCH FRIES were served on the side. Wont be back a third time.

This place was awesome. I had the chile relleno and it was great. If you find yourself shopping the outlets and you are craving Mexican, you need to give this place a shot. The service was extremely fast and the margaritas were very nice. My wife had the enchilada ranchera and the beef had excellent flavor. The portions were good so you should not be hungry when you leave. I can't believe it took us so long to try it. Now that we know, we will definitely be back.

El Campesino is probably the best restaurant in Dawsonville, if you consider food for money value. Must-haves; Texas Nacho's, Pollo Asada, El Campesino Special. Atmosphere is great. It's a loud place, so don't go for an intimate date during peak hours, but its a blast with a group of friends. Service is top notch. Never have an empty glass or mug, chips and salsa flow like the Rio Grande, and the waiters will usually try to talk us gringos into upsizing our beers, with a pretty good rate of success. The food is prepared quickly and efficiently. Food is great. I have -never- had a bad meal here. Check what I mentioned above as must-haves. Pricing is FANTASTIC. So much value for the portions and quality. Alcoholic drinks are delicious.... And stout! You can't go wrong here.

Not only do I drop in here with my family, but have participated in several motorcycle riding club chapter Bike Nights and meetings here...and never been disappointed. The service is astonishingly fast, even when it is packed out. The food is fairly standard fare for small-chain Mexican places, and portions are very adequate. I recently had the shrimp burrito, offered in a one or two- sized order with rice or beans. They managed to stuff around a dozen good-sized grilled shrimp in there, so the single size was a full meal for me, and I am a BIG dude. They offer discount coupons through our local Kroger receipts, but there are some conditions, so read carefully. Only con that I can think of is that if you are bringing a large group, you may have to be seated on the elevated space, and that's kind of a tight fit. This is now my 24y.o. son's favorite place to dine out, BTW.

You just can't beat the big draft beer and fresh chips and salsa. The guacamole is awesome! The owner always makes sure to stop by and shake our hands. Ask for little Carlos, he is the best bartender/waiter around.

Crappy food, crappy service. The only thing that's good about this place are the giant beers you can consume to take your mind off of the first two issues.

Our favorite place in Dawsonville/Cumming for Mexican! Yummy salsa and cold, cloud beer! My favorite meal is the El Campesino special - chicken and shrimp sautéed with onions and topped with grated cheese. The lunch portion is plenty and only $6.95, served with rice or beans. Nice, comfortable restaurant. Friendly staff.

I actually would give them 2 1/2 stars. Tonight we had dinner which was 2 burrito's and rice for $ 7.00. It was fair - nothing special. One thing we liked was that they left a pitchure of soda to fill up our drinks and the service was very fast. Actually this place would be better or lunch where most people primarily are looking for fast and cheap.

This is one of my favorite places to eat. I have never had a bad meal here and the prices are very reasonable. While I live in Cumming, this is where I go for Mexican food.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
