First of all we were amazed at how lovely the grounds were, the flowers, they even had artichokes growing in their flower bed out front! The valet guys were friendly and ran to open the door for us when we entered the restaurant. The host stand had three incredibly nice people there that got us in in spite of not having a reservation and it was busy. The room, the bar and the view were gorgeous. Our waiter Ron, was knowledgeable and friendly. He forgot my maple syrup and Mom's Splenda but those were the only two teeny strikes in the service. Food came out as it should and when it should. The onion soup was to die for. The presentation of the soup service was very nice. The cheese tray was yummy with about six different different cheeses. Even the butter with the bread was good. The Brioche toast and bacon were great. I did ask for strawberries as I thought it needed a little something else and I hope the chef might make that small addition as it made a huge difference and made it fantastic. It is clear this is a talented chef with his micro greens, etc. The chardonnay was great and we bought a bottle for home. The desserts were a little weird. We loved the lemon. The onion and chocolate was weird. The music on the porch was great. Overall it was a really really great experience and we made another reservation for our next family event. Loved it.

We love this place, the view and ambiance feels like you are in Tuscany or Napa. Great service with a welcoming approach. The opportunity that exists is the food. We had salad, soup, BLT, burger and dessert. The arugula salad was okay, have had more creative salads, soup was $13 per bowl and was brought to the table in a decanter, then poured into small fishbowl??? A bit strange to use a bowl that is really a flower vase or gold fish bowl. Most of the pea soup stayed in the decanter, and the final portion was a few spoonfuls. Please rethink how you are serving soup, it's not creative, but instead odd, too small and overpriced. BLT was good, burger had a very dry and stale bun. Dessert, a lemon bar and meringue was terrific. Overall, the food we ordered was expensive and left many opportunities for improvement. If I'm spending, I want something special and delicious, I could have eaten the same thing at a chain, minus the soup. The soup is..best forgotten. Please consider a revamp of the menu.

Le Vigne and Montaluce have breathtaking views, incredible food and wonderful wine! The food and service were excellent today. The meal was one of best and tastiest I have had in Georgia! The ambience is spectacular and I will be returning often. Any reviews that complain about quality of food, only based on their opinion of price are way off base. Avoid the traffic Buckhead and enjoy an outstanding dining experience here!

Fantastic building and service. Food is okay but not up to the standard of expectation that is set when you enter the building. Our experience is based on their Thanksgiving brunch however from reading the reviews others have made similar points on their normal menu. What we liked: 1) Gorgeous building and view. The building is rustic and reminds me of a French chalet, however at the same time it is up-to-date in terms of decor and so reminds me of a fine European resort in the south of Germany or France. I took my parents and they were immediately impressed both by the drive up to the building and the initial impression of setting foot on the property. 2) Staff are really nice - especially when explaining the menu and the wine. Everyone was very helpful. We had a vegetarian in the group and they created a vegetarian option for her. They also were helpful in finding my parents the suitable wines for their tastes. 3) The food is okay. It's not impressive, but it's not bad either. I would say it is what you would expect of a good but nothing special restaurant. The turkey and the ham were pretty good. I would have preferred less dark meat in the turkey. The ham had a bit too much of a smoked taste which overpowered the other trimmings. The truffle mash was very good but perhaps a little to creamy. The collard greens were a bit too soggy. The stuffing and cranberry sauce was excellent. The dessert station was pretty disappointing - small mini-muffin type snacks but no proper dessert. What could be better: 1) Get a better chef. At the price they charge the food should be better.

We really enjoyed our visit to this winery and restaurant. Somehow it was not on our radar when we planned a weekend in north GA wine country, but we were pleasantly surprised when we stumbled upon it. Like everyone says, the grounds were beautiful and the food and service were impeccable. I think this is worth coming back to north GA for!

This is my go to restaurant in the Dahlonega Area when I have out of town guests or if I simply want to treat myself and family to the best prepared food and dining experience Dahlonega has to offer! On my most recent trip to LeVigne a couple weeks ago I brought 4 guests in from Arizona that were completely enchanted by the view, the food and the great service. Montaluce Winery and LeVigne Ristorante would be my first recommendation for both locals and out of town day trippers to the North Georgia Vineyards!

I regret selecting this location to celebrate my mom's 91st birthday because 1) after waiting 45 min for our table we were seated in a large empty room that had a table that was available since we arrived; 2) there were several tables available with beautiful views. 3) we had a reservation at 1 PM and when we arrived we were told it would be a 10-15 min wait that turned out to be 45 min for a less than adequate table that was available since we arrived 4) after requesting to give this feedback to the manager three times, she finally arrived and comped us with the promise of a new table, a couple of appetizers and a bottle of wine. We only got the appetizers and I had to ask for the wine to be removed from our bill. I've been to LeVigne several times before this incident. This is my last visit and definitely not worth the drive from Atlanta since the food is lightly above mediocre and the service really was the disappointment. The review gets an extra star for the comps.

Montaluce has everything going for it, in terms of a nice atmosphere, good location, beautiful views, wine...but somehow, my visit there went completely pear-shaped. My friends and I stopped there for lunch on the way to Helen, and, since all the inside window seats were taken, we got seated outside on the deck. The weather was alright, slightly overcast, but nothing too bad. However, there was a large table of about 10-12 women, clearly having a bridal or pre-wedding luncheon right next to us, and they were incredibly loud. Added to the festive ladies were lots of bees flying around. We asked the waitress about it, and she explained that the winery was in the middle of its fall harvest and grape crushing, and the bees were attracted to the sugar. Oh, and by the way, the grape crushing was taking place directly underneath the deck of the restaurant. Her reply and nonchalance made us feel a little awkward, like we were making a big deal of something that was nothing, and her lack of any "if you'd like to move..." reinforced that feeling. We each ordered soup and a sandwich, and I found the food a little lackluster and certainly overpriced. The soup was clearly reaching for something elegant and refined, but I found the presentation a little contrived, with small piles of some sort of powder (mushrooms or some spice, perhaps?) and dried mushrooms alongside the roasted red pepper soup that was more whipped than any soup I've ever had...there were literally bubbles and an odd foaminess to it, and the flavor was slightly bitter. There was maybe....a 1/4 cup of soup total? The BLT sandwich was okay, although in fairness I didn't get to enjoy it as intended. As the plates were being brought out and set on the table, I got stung by a bee. What a surprise! Certainly some of my negative opinion of Montaluce is colored by this, and by the server's initial reaction, which was the standard entree-delivery line of "Do you need anything else?" Seriously - although she returned 5 minutes later with a small ice pack and some Benadryl - I was flabbergasted that she literally did not even acknowledge it when it happened. I understand that the restaurant has little control over the actions of neighboring insects...but still. She also still didn't offer to move tables; we took it upon ourselves to pick up our plates and glasses and relocate inside. But even without the bee incident, I don't think the value of the experience merited the price. All-in-all, not a place I'd return to. And for almost $40 per person for lunch (glass of wine, tiny bowl of soup, sandwich, tax and tip - and no, nothing was comped as amends for the bee sting), Montaluce is positioning itself as a luxury/higher-end restaurant experience when the food and service don't quite achieve this. Save your money and venture elsewhere.

The Montaluce Winery is a beautiful location for a lunch getaway from Atlanta. If you're having visitors to Atlanta and are looking to Wow! them Le Vigne and Montaluce should be high on your list. The restaurant overlooks the vineyard from a few stories up. Very picturesque with huge windows. Definitely a classy place but you don't have to dress up. People were dressed in shorts and some much nicer. I'm sure dinner is pretty dressy. I started with an arugula salad that had cashews and pork belly which is high on my current list of addictions. Great way to start the meal. We also had a bottle of wine, a nice $18 Viognier. This is after a deluxe tasting where we had at least 5 glasses of wine and we were ready for more! I had the BLT which was tasty, but the best part were the house made chips. This things melted in my mouth. The best I've ever had bar none! My gf had the chicken entree and enjoyed it. Very gourmet (Top Chef-ish if you may). I would also recommended hitting the outlets on your way back to Atlanta. Shopping all wined up is awesome!

Beautiful setting. Attentive service. The entree I ordered wasn't available. That was a disappointment but the second option I selected was very good. I like it that so many "local sourced". Our food was expertly prepared and attractively presented. Great flavor profiles. We didn't taste through a flight of wines this visit. Instead we selected a bottle of the Montaluce Viognier. An excellent selection for our food. We make it a point to stop here every visit we make the the North Georgia mountains. Pricvy but worth it.

Went out for a Saturday of Wine Tasting in the Dahlonega area, and went to about five vineyards. We started with Montaluce, and wanted to begin with some food (preferably a nice brunch in our bellies). Well, LeVigne doesn't do brunch, and with the nouvelle cuisine (read that as small expensive food), we almost starved to death while eating $100.00 worth of a food bill. We started with the Marguerite flatbread (nice, but spread with tomato sauce, pesto, and a few sprinkles of mozz ... so thin, it was more of an Italian cracker ... and a small one at that!). Our daughter had the Pork Meatballs and Polenta ... good meatballs ... good polenta ... tomato sauce on both, overly heavy on paste. Wife had chicken breast with butternut squash ... tiniest chicken breast I've ever seen ... must have been a cornish hen! 1 TB of butternut squash! I had a braised beef short rib with broccolini ... yeah, one short rib, and it was half fat. The food was elitist, the portions were miniscule, the table rocked on the floor, and we had to constantly get our server's attention for basic things like drink refills, napkins , and silverware. The wine tastng later was great ... see seperate review. But the food ... miserable. We'll go somewhere else for our next Saturday brunch.

This review is purely regarding the restaurant's reservation system; we did not get to the point of tasting the food or wine. My family and I were on our way to meet our 3:00 p.m. reservation. At exactly 3:05 p.m. (as we were on Hightower Church Rd), the restaurant called us to be sure that we were still coming. At five minutes late, I can see that as a somewhat reasonable call to make. However, the restaurant employee proceeded to alert us that the kitchen would be closing very shortly, and that if we were not there in the next minute or two, they would have to cancel our reservation. They needed to "get us through" as soon as they could so that the kitchen could switch over to dinner preparation. From my eating out experience, this was an unusual and rude explanation to give to a customer. At 3:08 p.m., we cancelled our reservation in person. I don't intend on patronizing a restaurant that threatens its visitors with unreasonable time restraints. I would suggest that they don't take reservations at times that do not coordinate with their kitchen's break for dinner prep. We would have gladly arrived earlier so as not to hold up this process. Out of protest, and barring some kind of survival circumstance, I won't be eating here.

If you are looking for a beautiful to have lunch in a gorgeous setting - this is the ticket! The food was awesome - a bit pricey, but excellent! The wine was excellent - but again overpriced - very rarely will I spend $30 for a bottle of wine - good but not worth that!

Montaluce Winery is my favorite out of all the wineries in North Georgia. The main building - which is absolutely stunning - is home to the tasting, tours, and a fabulous restaurant called LeVigne. I have eaten at LeVigne 3 times. This restaurant could easily be picked up and moved to Midtown Atlanta and it would thrive. Both the wait staff and kitchen staff ensure everything is perfection. The menu is very classic, offering exactly what you would expect at a fine dining establishment, including cheese courses and charcuterie. As you would expect at a winery, each dish has a wine pairing listed on the menu. I wish they offered some sort of prixe fixe with wine pairings offered. Their one shortcoming is that the Sunday "brunch" menu only offers two true breakfast dishes: biscuits & gravy and french toast. I wish they would offer a true brunch (quiche, omelettes, etc.). Everything I've had at the restaurant has definitely been above-average, but nothing so great that I absolutely MUST tell you about it or you HAVE to order it. Anything you get will be good, but nothing life-changing. This last visit I came with my parents for "brunch" but ended up with the pork burger. The presentation of the dish was pretty awesome, but what really made it for me was the apple butter! But apple butter is pretty good on it's own so again- just a well executed normal thing to make, nothing special or unique about the food items itself (but smart move to pair it with pork in the package of a burger!). I could barely finish half of my burger; once stacked it was humongous! And the whole thing together was pretty dense due to the size of the patty. This may go without saying, but the views from the restaurant are absolutely gorgeous. You are essentially on the third floor of the building overlooking the vines and a nice lake they have. There are floor-to-ceiling windows, and the ceiling is pretty high here. Every time I walk into this restaurant I actually get a little dizzy (vertigo possibly?) because the view from the window is just so overwhelming....luckily I get used to it after a few minutes. Try to request a window seat if you can, but the restaurant is small enough that even if you don't get a window seat you'll still have a great view. Also, there is outdoor seating, which just completes the winery experience on a nice day if you don't have a phobia of flying insects like I do. There is also windowless inside seating area, the times I've been there this was used for large groups (8+). There really aren't places to seat groups this large in the areas with a view, so if you have a big group you may want to consider splitting up into smaller tables. If you're wanting to do the tastings at the winery, you can order the flight at your table instead of having to fight for a spot at the bar. This is nice if you are hoping to linger at your table over various courses. This venue is a solid choice for a meal during winery tasting. The take reservations on Open Table so be sure to get your points! Oh, and an added bonus: service staff is all really good looking! My stepmom said, "Do they hire models to work here?!???"

Had a great meal here with friends. The ambiance is amazing - roaring fire in the fireplaces. Helpful, friendly staff (Travis and Jessica are awesome). The food was quite good - I had the rabbit dish. It was on a bed of grute (sp?) which I wasn't crazy about. But the rabbit was delicious. We also had the cheese plate and charcuterie. Overall a great experience!

We 've been to Le Vigne at least half a dozen times over the past 2 years. It is our Go-To restaurant for out of town guests visiting us in the north Georgia mountains. Today, we were disappointed. Their timing and service were off, way, way off. We arrived 10 minutes early for a 1:30 reservaion that had been cofirmed twice. We were asked to wait by the fireplace. Unfortunately, all seats near the fireplace were filled and my 88 year old mother was forced to stand while we waited more than 30 minutes, well past the time fore our reservation. Shortly after we arrived, a party arrived 50 MINUTES LATE vor their reservation and they were seated immediately. At the same time they had just turned away a party whose reservation had gotten lost by Open Tableand they made us early birds wait 20-30 miutes past our reserved time.Excuse me, but why reinforce the bad behavior on the late comers and make an early arrival wait past their reservation and turn away a messed up reservation? Just wrong. To add insult to injury, they were only staffed for 10 tables, while 2/3 of the restaurant sat empty. Somebody obviously blew the staffing for the days after Christmas. Our server sarted out good and the food was excellent as usual, but a the meal wore on, she became less and less attentive. We waited forever to be asked about dessert, had another inordinate delay for the dessert menus and had such a long wait after receiving the menus that we just gave up and decided to leave...but first there was another wIt for the check. In the meantime, those of us seated next to the window were roasting. Sorry Montaluce, another meal with this type of service will make me think twice about coming back!

Setting is beautiful and food was good. However, we didn't have a good experience when making a reservation for a party of 18. They must not like large parties because they certainly didn't act like they wanted our business. Was told they were really booked the day of our reservation and asked us to move up time and to make sure we arrived early so were were ready to be seated at reservation time of 11:00. Also told we couldn't have full menu due to the size of our party. We all arrived from ATL 15 minutes before our reservation time since she had stressed that we be ready to be seated. We ended up sitting for 35 minutes with no attention whatsoever - not offered water, bread, (wine cannot be served until after noon on Sunday.... UGH!) The hostess explained we couldn't be seated until our limited menu's were printed and they couldn't find the girl who was supposed to do them!! Explained we didn't care about the limited menu's, we were happy with the full menus. We were seated 20 mins later than our reservation time waiting on those limited menus!! The restaurant was less then half full by the time we were finishing our meal so don't understand why we couldn't have the reservation time we wanted or have access to the full menu. Wont make that trip again with a large party. There are plenty of other options around here that love having large parties and will do anything to get and keep your business. You go here for the setting and to experience something different.

Exploring the area for work, we stopped in for lunch. As you enter, the wall that houses the wine is beautiful. The bottles are on their side but against the wall, versus in the wall. Walking in, to then see the vineyard beyond the glass window, they had me! I enjoyed the cheese with greek honey, and it was fantastic. The perfect size serving of cheese. Not to be outdone too much, but the appetizer I had was watermelon with a chocolate balsamic sauce, over cucumber slices, with small crumbles of cheese, and a scoop of Cantaloupe Sherbert. It was TOO die for on every account. The watermelon was in cubes and the presentation was amazing. Hopefully will remember to post a pic soon of it! Wines, wines, wines! For $4, I enjoyed a glass of their Dolce wine. It was sweet but lighter then a Riesling. Very flavorful and served at the perfect temperature. My main was a pulled beef sandwich. Note to self, better without the onions and eat it with a fork. No time for dessert because we had one hour to eat. Our server was ON TOP OF IT, we told her we had 1 hour and she had us out on the dot. Checked in on foursquare and received a bottle of wine! Buy wine in bulk at their wine shop and get 10% off, I stocked up to fill up my wine fridge. I look forward to returning, enjoying the breeze and view.

7 course NY eve dinner with wine pairing (2 tiers available) beats Charleston...lovely...favorite place EVER. Favorite courses included first course: Adami prosecco with west coast oyster garnished with coconut pearls, lemon powder, and sea salt air (foam). Second course: duck confit with pickled ramp and black truffle accompanied by a 2007 sella & mosca cannonau di sardinia riserva. Third course: seared tuna with spicy faina, chive creme fraiche, and citrus air (foam!) served with a 2010 Bastianich Rosato (lovely). Fourth course: butternut squash (whipped) soup with toasted pumpkin seed and blis maple syrup with a 2010 standing stone Riesling. And dessert, which was a brown butter marshmallow with popcorn ice cream and salted chocolate served with a 2003 dows port. Courses 5 and 6, while very good, didn't appeal to me as much as the courses I've detailed here (pan roasted grouper with mushroom leek ragout, braised rabbit with kabocha squash gnocchi). The tier 2 wine was phenomenal, the pairings were exactly right every time. As always, the food was nothing short of divine. Go early and spend some time designing a wine flight at the bar, sommeliers are very knowledgable and fun to engage with while you sip! Good selection of top shelf liquors and designer cocktails for non-vinophiles too!

I visited this place during some stressful time and yet my overall impression was great. THE FOOD The starter plate of chicken confit was simply delicious. The meat and skin could easily be cut with a fork and were just perfect in texture and juiciness. Pork meatballs for the main course were done just as well and the glorious amount of polenta served with both made this a rather filling dinner. I also got a chance to steal a piece of moon pie that my wife ordered and it changed my opinion about marshmallows forever. I'll be happy to steal a piece of dessert like that anytime. Mead was delicious, I highly recommend. SETTING It's a large villa by the vineyard, so it manages to be stereotypical, but in an impressive way. The view from the open dining area over the vineyard is simply idyllic. We were also lucky enough to enjoy seeing a quick summer shower come through the area, bringing out all the pleasant smells of the nature. SERVICE Good and unobtrusive. OTHER If you ever need a ride into town for some reason, the people are nice and someone will give you a ride. Valet is absolutely unnecessary there but required. Enjoy.

We were a party of 8 (including one child -- very well-behaved) who came to Montaluce for lunch on 12/27/2013, after making a reservation shortly before our arrival. It's an impressive setting, very beautiful, with a large, comfortable dining room, except that the table was oddly high for the height of our chairs (we are a tall family, and we all felt like midgets!). The service started well, with a friendly server explaining the menu. When the food came out, it was excellent. Everyone enjoyed their dishes, from the butternut squash soup to the cheese plates to the salads to the rack of lamb. I had a spectacularly served smoked salmon that came under a glass dome with the smoke somehow trapped under it. HOWEVER, here is why I can't give this place more than two stars: service totally lacking, especially in comparison with the food quality! For example, when the server (a young guy, not the original friendly young woman) brought out my wonderful salmon under the glass dome, he couldn't be bothered even to move the appetizer plates out of the way. I feel like I missed some of the drama of the presentation for wondering why the heck no one had cleared those dishes already. After all, we had waited about an HOUR for the food -- and this was lunch! The long wait for food was the biggest problem, combined with the complete lack of attention to our table. Dishes remained sitting, glasses went unfilled, no one brought out new forks after the salad forks were taken. For a restaurant with fine-dining pretention and potential, it was very disappointing. On top of that, we noticed too late that a 21% gratuity had been added to the bill. The person who paid the bill added a big tip to all of that. It could not have been less deserved. [UPDATE: We called the restaurant, and they graciously agreed to credit that extra tip back.] I've seen better service in a fast-food restaurant. We would love to see this place succeed, but they have some serious work to do on the service, from the inattentive behavior of the servers to the expediting of the food.

What an exceptional dining experience! I cannot think of one area are where the staff and food did not excel. The three course prix fixe meal, in my case, pork belly appetizer, trout entree and egg custard desert were individually and collectively possibly the best I've had in as far back as I can remember. Montaluce is a winery and the wine pairings were perfectly suited to the courses. BTW, I visited Montaluce's LeVigne Ristorante with my wife and a couple that are LONG time friends and the verdict was unanimous. Yelpers, if you're within a three hour drive or anywhere near Atlanta you owe it to yourselves to dine here.

My grandmother and I went there for sunday brunch. We were greeted at the lovely restaurant by the valet. We headed indoors to see a very lovely place. Decorated perfectly with beautiful views of the north GA mountains. There clock was 15 minutes slow so we had time to look around the place. We stepped out onto the veranda. IT WAS BEAUTIFUL! The tables were pristine and rustic all at the same time. Not to mention there were some pretty good photo ops. A little while later our waitress came in and took us to our table. She lead us into a room that was indoors (so we were out of the heat) but it's floor to ceiling windows made you feel like you were outside. We were handed our menus a few minutes later. They were still printing because they have a fresh menu everyday. We ordered a cheese platter that came out on a rock. Very interesting, but good! Each cheese that we ordered came with a jelly that complimented its flavor. It was very good. My grandmother ordered there gazpacho. It was totally unexpected. It had beautiful fresh whole tomatoes and the jalapeño sorbet that really gave it zing. I ordered two buttermilk biscuits with sausage gravy and scrambled eggs. They were the BEST eggs I had ever had. Fluffy and savory. I couldn't eat all of the biscuits. I had one, and who knows how many calories was in it. This restaurant can give you the best of both worlds, fresh summery meals and southern home cooked food. It was very good and I would love to go again.

I have come here for lunch a couple of times and absolutely love the view and the food. The cauliflower soup is to die for and the flat bread pizza's are very yummy. Call for a reservation and make sure to request a table close to the floor to ceiling windows or the patio if it is available.
