My husband and I were seated in the bar area. At first I was like, oh no- I wasn't really wanting anything loud tonight. Then, we saw a gentleman setting up to play live music. So, we were like "Oh, No! I hope they hurry with our food!" We ordered a small cheese dip, Pollo Loco, and Taco Stand. I love authentic taco's. The salsa was definitely different as it taste more like canned tomato sauce with spices added. When the cheese dip came, it was cold with clumps of cheese. I ordered my tacos with corn tortillas; however, it came with flour. I was too hungry to ask for a change, but to be honest I'm not one to rock the boat and ask for a simple change. Well, I should have. Because, authentic tacos are not authentic to me with flour tortillas. The tortillas were very chewy. The taco stand came with 5 tacos-carnitas, chorizo, fish, steak, and chicken. Altogether, the flavor of the chorizo taco was my favorite. It was a nice surprise as I have never had a chorizo taco before. The sausage was so flavorful and spicy. Delicious! I also loved the sauce that came with the tacos. It's name was not on the menu. It was spicy, but not overly powerful. I can't speak for my husband and his pollo loco dish; however, it was grilled chicken topped with peppers and cheese dip. The sides were cauliflower and broccoli with cheese dip, refried beans, and rice. We were given sopapillas for dessert. What a treat- cinnamon and honey on a fried tortilla! Now back to that musician. When he started playing his guitar, I was very surprised at how good this guy was. I mean seriously he was playing a mixture of Spanish and Caribbean music. It was delightfully relaxing. We were mesmerized. It seriously made the ambiance and the entire visit for us! I told my husband we would go back just to hear this guy play again! While the food was so-so, I was disappointed because I had heard so many good things from a few friends. I will go back and try this restaurant in a few weeks to see if anything is different. I don't think you should judge a restaurant when it's first opening.

My wife and I feel this is the best Mexican restaurant in Conyers. The fajita bowl is excellent and filling. The quest appetizer is a meal in itself with plenty of shrimp, and meat. Have been there several times since it opened and have not been disappointed. Even have taken friends there who have also said they thought the food was good and the portions were plentiful.

The food was great. I had the chicken floutas. The prices are reasonable. The adult beverages are good as well. If you're craving mexican food, I highly recommend it.

First time visiting Cielo and I have to say that it was some of the best Mex that I've had in a while. Really shocked at all of the mediocre reviews! As you can see from the photos, the restaurant is pretty new and is absolutely beautiful inside and out. We were greeted with a smile from the hostess even though we came in for a late dinner. Our server (wish I could remember her name) was at our table in minutes and very knowledgable of the menu and drink selection. Which brings to mind the ONLY complaint that I could have... they were out of Dos Equis and any other good beer on draft. Only domestic... bleh! I was so excited that they actually had Chorizo dip! My favorite and it was soooo yummy! I had Chicken Tacos Al Carbon and Ema had Steak Burrito Al Carbon and they were both amazing. The steak was actually tender and not over-done. The rice and charro beans were really good as well. The owner (or manager) came over to greet us and check on us and made sure to ask us to come again - which I think is very important. We had a great experience! Looking forward to going back!

It's pretty good. Fifty nine cent tacos on Wednesday with $2 beer. Can't beat that even if the tacos are dry.lol

A friend of mine who lives in Conyers suggested this place. I'm happy that we gave this place a chance because the food was good and the decor was awesome. My only issue was the food was cold upon serving. They were happy to correct this but it's nice to eat your food upon delivery. Anywho, I will give it another chance because the server was very pleasant.

Cielo is the newest Mexican restaurant in town. How Mexican is it? I'm still not sure, but it's good and different. I would say it's tropical with some green and yellow plantains as sides, and an attractive Tostones con Pollo appetizer a la Bahama Breeze. This new place brings a fusion of flavors to the area that combine a spicy touch with fruity flavors like guava and mango. Delicious! Definitely try the Cielo dip as appetizer, and the Tequila Tilapia and Shrimp with asparagus and chipotle mashed potatoes as a main dish. Don't forget to top it off with a frozen Guava Margarita with either Texas or top shelf Tequila because you won't go wrong with either one. As with any new place, service is still slow but there're lots of smiles and chips to compensate.

This restaurant was wonderful the first week it opened. Sauce on the tamales was kissed with cinnamon. Everything, everything was delicious. Cut to more than a year later and probably 3 dozen visits. Ordered: A margarita, small Texas guac, a chicken enchillada, and rice. Got entree first, almost immediately after ordering. Guac came 10 minutes later! Premium margarita took 15 minutes and several inquiries-I was told they didn't have a bartender! Not my problem! I was almost finished with my entee when the margarita came. And the $12.99 charge was on the bill. Everything was on the bill. Even the flan I ordered which they could have comped as an apology. But no. Could someone buy this place and open a Mexican restaurant? Please note: Sauces are salty beyond belief.

I have eaten here a few times and I really like the food here. Chicken and beef enchiladas are my favorite. We sit outside when The weather is nice. It's a great addition to conyers for sure!

The worse!!!!!! I gave 1 star only because the server was nice, but the food was gross, drinks was gross, and wait time for the food was horrible.

We ate here on Cinco de Mayo and really enjoyed the service and atmosphere. Not to mention it was a new Mexican restaurant in Conyers, so we thought we'd give it a try on Cinco and then try last night. Let me start off by staying the food is amazing. Both times I had the Steak Fajita Bowl. It's amazing and the meat was cooked perfectly. That was the main reason for our second visit. Unfortunately, the bartender was not social or friendly. If someone dislikes their job that much, they should consider another adventure in their life. With that being said, I have never heard a bartender not being able to give the guest more than one drink at a time. Must be a Conyers things because as a restaurant manager in Atlanta, we allow two drinks in front of our guest at once. I truly hope that we decide to go back, but probably will not be sitting at the bar if the bartender is not in better spirits. Again, amazing food. Definitely worth a try.

I had lunch there with a couple of pals that were giving Cielo's a 2nd chance. Going back is not in the cards which is too bad, but then again...it's up to the business to make folks want to return for lunch or dinner. The waitressing staff pretty much admitted to being under the influence of some medication and was attempting to put the order on one ticket...but having trouble figuring out how she would split it. She was prompt to the table, a little soft spoken for the ambient noise and dialect...but we gave her the benefit of the doubt due to the above WUI conditions (waitress under the influence). We allowed that we would order off of the lunch menu...which is by number. The options were....hard shell or soft taco; do you want that burrito "supreme" which I assumed would be avocado and/or cream cheese. When the $5.99 meal arrived....no burrito....however, one soft taco and one soft tostada with gummy rice and re-fried beans, plus the customary plate and entrée filler...chopped lettuce, and lots of it with a fractional showing of a piece of a chopped tomato. Since she was having a medi-day on the job....we let it ride. I got a $1.99 glass of unsweet tea that never got a refill (although my sugar laden pals were getting their sweet tea and even a half/half blended tea topped off...go figure). The chips were light and alright, the salsa was just the right amount of heat....but enough cilantro to water your eyes; the cook was obviously not getting any assistance in the kitchen to pull cilantro leaves from the stems and the chunky parts of the Salsa were branches of cilantro big enough to get a NFL player suspended if used on his child. But....I digress. The bills arrived in individual folders and to my surprise my #5 Supreme without burrito or enchilada (as memory serves) had moved on up the food chain to $12.99 including tax, tea and temerity. The gauntlet had been thrown. My pal Sam had the same increase in price from the lunch menu that caught his attention. The waitress's only excuse for our lunch flub was "I thought you were ordering from the dinner menu." She did have some young man (in a clean white shirt that was obviously not in the kitchen, food prep or clean up area) make an adjustment which dropped my $5.99 special (supreme...mind you) from $12.99 down to $7.99....plus $1.99 for my single glass of un-sweetened tea. Was the food worth it.....not a chance. Would I bring myself or wife and/or friends here....nope. Was it a trifle aggravating to realize a place with superior location, parking access and a rising Hispanic demographic would waste space that a good restaurant could occupy......pretty much yep. The restauranteur is one that depends on EACH meal as a potential return and then a regular return. In my occupation over the years in homebuilding....the guys that went broke as builders (outside of poor financial decisions) were those "builders" that spent their day in the Waffle House, golf course, bar or flying airplanes too many days out of a work week....rather than being ON THE JOB where the investment is. I hate to see folks lose their money on a good and earnest effort. But the restaurant and bar business avoids the "New Broom Sweeps Good" syndrome wherein after a few good months....someone of a responsible nature isn't on site during the open hours to mandate, dictate and enforce policy...which would include woozy waitresses that should be admitting to the owners that they're "under the influence"....not the owner's customers.

Very delicious. It's like an American twist to authentic Mexican food. It's hard to explain but I'm sure you'll love it. On Wednesday's, tacos are 59¢! I'm new to the area so I'm definitely adding this to My Faves list. The only gripe I have is the wait time. I did "to-go" and waited nearly 30 minutes for 3 tacos and a plate of nachos. Meh.

Based on other Mexican food choices in Conyers, I had to give this place all five stars on my first visit. Granted time will tell but I must say the wait staff was excellent and the food was great. They have a very diverse menu and I plan on going back to try some other entrees. I started with a basic combo #2. Tons of food including a very delicious chili rellenos (yes an authentic poblano relleno). The price was also great at less than $50 for three adults including a few cerveza's. Great location on the south side of Rockdale too. I'll be back for sure! So I have been back and the food is still great. I had one waitress that may have had an off night or maybe she just wasn't that good. That's the only reason I've dropped to a four star rating. I'll keep coming back for great food!

The only good thing about this restaurant is the chandeliers. Really, worst service and food is terrible. I have eaten here three times and every experience has been a nightmare. The other night we decided to host my wife's birthday dinner at Cielos. Big mistake. It started with a whole pitcher of sweet tea being dropped down my back and all over my down Northface jacket. I understand accidents happen but at least apologize, that did not happen. The server was so embarrassed she asked her manager to be moved to another table. Never once did the manager come over and offer me a free beer or to send my jacket off for cleaning. When we paid, I did ask to speak to the manager about the issue and he acted like it was my fault and I should have came to him earlier. I told him my jacket had to be cleaned and he then did offer at that time to clean it. No way, he should have initiated the offer, not me. And to top it off, my food was COLD. Unreal stay far away from this place.

My wife and I wanted some local Mexican in Conyers and decided to try Cielo. It did not disappoint. Good prices and service. Will repeat.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
