This restaurant is a great little treasure that we found after my son's graduation from Fort Benning basic training. He wanted to take us out to eat after the ceremony and he wanted Mexican. My mom remembered passing this place on the way to the National Infantry Museum, so we thought we check it out. Turns out, this is quite the popular place with the military and civilians in Columbus. LOL I had the chicken chimichangas - all white meat, tender and juicy. My mother had a quesadilla with chicken, steak & shrimp - tons of meat, cooked to perfection (she said it was so delicious she was tempted to lick the plate). The beans and rice were fresh and tasty and the guacamole was as good as homemade (not a puree, but fresh and chunky). Daughters had the enchiladas - no complaints, they were very happy, and my son had a California burrito which was huge. He said he was completely satisfied and that's good enough for me. My daughters were unable to finish their dinners, but the waiter had no problem boxing up the leftovers and packed them nicely in a bag with forks (!) so we could eat them on the way home. If we are ever in Columbus GA again, we are absolutely coming back. Definitely will recommend this place to others in the area!

This place is pretty good. It's lacking a little in terms of the food being authentic but the carne asada tacos are consistently decent. Service is very fast and friendly. If you're ordering an adult beverage I'd stick to margaritas, pina coladas or beer. I say this because one time I ordered a whiskey sour and literally received a wine glass full of well whiskey. Bleh. I tried not to waste alcohol and choke it down, but yikes. If you're at Fort Benning and looking for a quick Mexican place to grab lunch at off post, come here!

This place is not good Mexican food... Definitely not authentic at all. I was disappointed while moving here to find out there's really not that many Mexican restaurants around.

This place was no Bueno. My standards of Mexican food are different than most people around this area. I know what real Mexican food should look and taste like. I'm am totally positive that the people who run this place do too. I am willing to bet that they are catering this bad product bc of the people in this area's perception of Mexican food. Meaning, that people around here thought of Mexican food is cheese on everything. Bland flavors and taco bell style tacos! Come on guys. Get it together.

The enchiladas and burritos were exactly the same thing. A party of 4 and we ordered 2 burrito and 1 enchilada. No difference in preparation with sauce or the manner of rolling. There was no difference in filling between the two either. It seems to be a method of dealing with the lunch rush. The food tasted okay, but everything tasted the same. They could reduce menu clutter by identifying the actual dish. At the end, while in uniform, I did not receive the military discount. This place needs uniformity as another post states such a discount. I am from Southern California, and Mexican food is common to the extent that in certain areas only Mexican restaurants will survive. I guess if you Don't want fast food or steakhouse stop in. I was not impressed.

Random spot in a shady area right outside Ft Benning. Was unsure about it initially but we were in a rush to find lunch and get back to work. Food was delicious and priced decently. I think this was the first Mexican meal I had where EVERYTHING on my plate was delicious. I has the #20 or #22 (it was the huevos with chorizo with rice, beans, an flour tortillas on the side). Delicious! I really liked how it seemed to be filled with regulars and A LOT of military folks. Consistent patronage is a good sign of a good business.

Pretty good place. Food is authentic and tasty. Seafood cocktail, not the best. Octopus was hard.. But other than that, the rest of the dishes were great. I would recommend.

Ordered chimichanga, the tortilla was not crispy. When I asked the server was it microwaved? The texture was rubbery and the chicken was tough. She said yea we microwave to melt the cheese. Ewes big mistake ruined the dish , I sent it back.

This place was pretty good, their salsa is fresh and homemade...the white sauce/cheese dip is the stuff you can get at the supermarket & microwave. The food was decent...the chicken in my quesadilla had a slight farmy taste but overall everything was good. Prices are super cheap, This place would've gotten 5 stars had out server not forgotten to bring the cheese dip after asking 3 times...he mixed up drinks and forgot things from two tables close to us also...maybe he was tired?...or new? will def come back though.

Good margharita, chips were fresh, warm and crisp. Salsa was good and not overly spicy but with just enough kick. The chcken was plentiful in a big burrito and this place is reasonable. Nothing fancy but that is where you find the best Mexican food.

Good food. More authentic than many other Mexican places in Columbus. I have been there five or more times and it was good every time. I will go back. :-)

COCKROACH!! This was awful. The waiter was nice, and service was fast. However, we found a huge live cockroach that my husband had to squish and then told the waiter about. He proceeded to say he knew about them with an embarrassed face, but when we told the manager he said "they are everywhere here" and gave us a pathetic 10% discount. DO NOT EAT HERE.

What a surprise this little unassuming restaurant will have for you! Don't pass this place up if you're looking for good, authentic Mexican. My family came here as we were visiting our soldier and he wanted to eat off base as he didn't was sick of the daily food there. We weren't sure when we walked in...there were huge tv screens and large stuffed deer heads behind a fully stocked bar. The room was big and had knick-knacks all over the place. We opened the menu and our senses were bombarded with pages and pages of options. There was the typical bottomless chips and salsa which was pretty good...salsa was a little watery in my opinion but still tasty. I ordered the tilapia, and the rest of the fam ordered chicken fajitas, and combination meals. The tilapia was not oily at all, juicy and fresh with fluffy rice, side salad, and yummy guacamole. We all were impressed at the portions of the food and the how tasty everything was. I got an horchata and was also pleasantly surprised at how huge and good it was. All in all, friendly service and decent prices makes this restaurant a winner if you're stopping through.

The place is really, really ridiculously cheap and seems to have a lot of liquor stocked up. The beer selection they have is very authentic, one of my co-diners ordered a beer that seemed very, very exported from Mexico. The horchata was pretty good, not too sweet and came in a HUGE glass. The food, was okay I had the carne asada which was surprisingly tough. The weird thing was that it was sliced very thinly and yet took so long to cut through-the knife they gave me had no screws in the grip which made it a difficult to say the least. I'm willing to give it another shot since it was so cheap and the torta looked delicious.

Variety of lunch specials that are very easy on the wallet. The service was excellent and portions were huge, food average. Definitely will return.

Second time there & probably the last. They're not BAD, just marginally OK. First time was for dinner which was pretty good, but I had a couple beers in me & was hungry so that automatically bumped the flavor up a notch. Second time was for lunch & I had the speedy Gonzalez plate since I was pressed for time. Now I wasn't expecting to be transcended to Mexico or anything but the hamburger in the taco & enchilada was bland & the sauce on the enchilada tasted like some value brand canned sauce. But I will say they are reasonably priced & the service was FAST.

I'm a little on the fence about this place. It looks divey, which is fine- those are often some of the best places since they focus more on the food quality (in most instances). And the food was flavorful, definitely more authentic than some other places. Waiter was very nice, if not a tad shy. But...something keeps me from giving this place an extra star or two. Not quite sure what it is, but I just seem to not have made up my mind yet... However, if you're in the mood for Mexican, this is not a bad choice. I left feeling very full and pleased with the experience overall.

I've been here a couple of times now. Not crazy about the food here. The service is just ok, and it can take a while to pay for your foods. Maybe I'm not a Mexican food expert, but the food here is just not that good compared to other places. I ordered the Chimichanga, and it was probably the worst i've ever had. I try not to go here, but my boss always takes us out to lunch here...so...you know.

This was always a favorite after SOA protests. I've spent many a Sunday late afternoon/evening here thinking about what I had just witnessed, talking to friends I hadn't seen in a while, and enjoying pretty decent Mexican food. It's a Mexican restaurant with a taqueria feel. The portions are decent; the prices are excellent, and the service is good.

I have eaten here dozens of times, only during lunch. It is my favorite mexican place in town, and they do great food at a very reasonable price. It is fast as well. A favorite of the RTB, I was first taken there by some of the cadre and became a regular. Lots of soldiers during lunch.

I ate here for the first time yesterday in a desperate search for a new Mexican restaurant. The food was fantastic and reasonably priced. The service was fantastic. I will definitely be returning.

This is the best mexican food in Columbus, Ga. I am a big fan of the salsa & fajitas. This is the only mexican I will go too.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
