Its a very small, home-town kind of place. From the time you enter until you leave you are constantly hearing and seeing diners greeting each other and asking about family members, etc. If you're looking for plants, ferns, ivy vines and wine bottles as decor, don't bother. If you're looking for old fashioned home cooking, where most of the days offerings are written on huge dry erase boards (complete with lines drawn through items that have sold out), this is your kind of place. The food is no frills, honest cooking. Hamburger steaks (Chopped Sirloin to the fancy restaurant folks) are sized and shaped by hand. Biscuits are huge. Desserts are made from scratch. If you're in Canton and looking for a somewhere to get your "meat & veggie, country cooking fix", this is the place. Is there better food around? yes Are there fancier places around? definitely! The staff is super nice and make you feel like you're having a meal in their home. It is a small town, feel good place to eat. Enjoy!

My wife and I decided to try a new place for breakfast, and remembered passing this restaurant on the way to downtown Canton. It's located in a small strip center that has seen better days. The restaurant itself was run down looking. We got the usual fare for breakfast: Eggs, bacon, hashbrowns and grits. While there was only 3 people in the place eating, it took a lot longer than expected to get our food. When the food finally did arrive, my wife's hashbrowns were stone cold! The service was average at best, and the food was nothing to write home about. We usually give places a couple of tries, in case they were having a bad day the first time, but not this place. It's a ONE AND DONE for us.

GREAT Fried Chicken and sides, fed a group of six and glad I got it. Sides were perfect as well and glad I didn't have to cook the other day. Rolls hot and great desert (peach and apple) for a burp filled day after.

Had dinner here (Friday nights only). Daughter had a special request for "chicken, green beans, mashed potatoes with gravy." Wife picked this one. Ambiance: don't expect much. Run down shopping center that has seen better days, same with the restaurant. Service: lady we had was very nice. Some definite regulars go here. Food comes out a bit slow considering the number of patrons in there at the time. Food: The fried chicken is ok, juicy breast, bone-in (which I don't mind but some may). Breading is plain, no flavor. Chicken livers were pretty good, not overdone. Which is nice for a change in a southern "country cookin" joint. Sides: Dressing (stuffing): corn bread stuffing served "southern" style. Loosely translated that means very little flavor and mushy, which most country folk seem to enjoy. I just prefer something different. Pickled beets: canned beets sliced. Zipper peas: not bad, best side in my opinion. Cooked "southern style" (ie mushy). Green beans: salt pork and again " southern style" Mash potatoes / gravy: they were ok, white gravy though. Daughter was not happy about that as she prefers brown gravy. Biscuit: this is not a biscuit, it is white bread in round form. Hush puppies: nothing fancy but cooked well. Conclusion: Not my cup of tea, might try the breakfast though as that seems to be their thing. Will update. Sides:

Wanted to go to Keithburg Cafe but they were closed. So plan B....here. The place is in a shopping center. Lacks the small town character of KC. I ordered the Jesses breakfast which was 2 eggs, tenderloin, grits and biscuit. It was ok but not like the KC! Not as friendly either. Maybe I just hit it on the wrong day but I'd give it a 7 for quality of food, 5 for service and 4 for friendliness. It's clean and all but isn't the KC. The bar is way up there w Keithsburg!

We went to the New Georgian Hills Restaurant after seeing they were voted best Fried Chicken in Cherokee County. They are only open for dinner on Friday night so we we decided to finally give it a try. I had the fried chicken and my wife had the chicken fried steak. Both meals come with two sides that rotate on their big while board. The chicken was good and is probably the best I have had in Cherokee County. Not the best I have ever had but definitely the best in Cherokee County so far. My wife's chicken fried steak was awesome. The restaurant is kid friendly and has a southern small town feel to it. We can't wait to try their breakfast and lunch menu. They are open M-F 6am - 2pm for breakfast and lunch and only open for dinner on Friday from 5pm-8pm.
