Came by after a day at LanierWorld, and wasn't as thrilled by it as other hibachi places. I have drove by this place 4 times a day, 16 times in one week for an entire month doing a favor for my dad, and it always caught my eye and so did other restaurants on that strip. My boyfriend vaguely remembered coming and said it wasn't all that great, but I still wanted to try it, and since we were in the area, we decided why not. The chef was great, very enthusiastic, and very funny, but the food seemed very average. I guess for me, I'm comparing this to the drive that I have to make to actually get here. I wouldn't deem this place worth driving over 30 minutes for. If you're nearby and in the area, go for it. Ordered two combination hibachi dinners, one with steak and salmon, and the other with steak and chicken. Not a fan of the chicken. I ate one piece, and that was all I could do. I definitely should of stuck to just one meat for my dinner. The salmon must of been good however since my boyfriend ate EVERYTHING. The chef seemed more interested in me being Korean and my boyfriend being Chinese and able to speak Viet than he did anything else the entire time he was cooking. The service was FANTASTIC though.

Great staff. They were attentive and helpful. Visited on Sunday about 4:00 for Hibachi, but I've been here on weekday lunch as well with same success. Sushi was good, but I wouldn't write home about it. All in all a very positive experience driven by a great atmosphere and staff.

Food was good, the servers nice. We were the only ones at the hibachi table, so the entertainment was very short. He did a total of 3 tricks. I was a little disappointed at that. I think maybe you get to see more tricks if there is more people to cook for. With that being said, get a table with other people. Also, as a side note they charge extra for rice. The meat is one price and the rice is another. First time, I've had to pay for rice also. I didn't even see rice listed on the menu. Other than that, it was good, the employees including waitresses all dress the part. They speak great English too!

This place is so great. The food is amazing with great customer service. Our waitresses have always been very polite and attentive. (I also think it's cute how they wear kimonos). I've never sat in at the Hibachi area so I don't have an opinion on that, but I still enjoyed our visit there. They have a wide selection of sushi and my favorite was the lobster tempura roll. I had a hard time navigating through their menu at first since it was my first time eating at a Japanese restaurant but I ended up trying their chicken katsu. So delicious! The meal also came with soup, salad, and dessert, all of which were extremely tasty and good portions. (Small but that's great if you're having a larger main course) I'd definitely recommend this place to everyone.

This place was a great recommendation from a friend for my partners birthday. I had never had Hibachi before and enjoyed it. They had no problem accommodating groups. We had reservations but arrived 15 minutes early. We were seated right away. The service was great! We all had the Hibachi and it was incredible. The shrimp, lobster, NY strip and fillet were juicy and full off flavor. The servings are enough to split and the hot sake is......not bad. Overall if you want a moderately priced ($25-$40) evening out in a lively hibachi style atmosphere you can't go wrong!

I really like Kani House... the fried rice is awesome... I get tired of the hibachi entertainment and sometimes just eat on the restaurant side and order off the menu... The wait is less to get your food and your eyebrows aren't burned when you leave.

This place is pretty good; just need to be decisive of what you prefer. The service is pretty friendly. I was eating here with my mom and there were these two guys at the table next to us. While I was trying to catch the attention of a server for the check, one of the guys comes over and asks how we liked the food and everything. I was a little surprised and said it was good. Turns out he was the owner. Good thing it was decent and I didn't talk shit, lol.

The fried rice shrimp, chicken and steak were perfectly cooked and delicious! I agree that the soup is just your average Japanese miso soup nothing special there. However, the main course was excellent and our chef was very skilled and did his best to interact with all the dining patrons. The service was fine the waitress did not appear to have much personality however who cares about that when the food is good. I would go back to this restaurant again.

Overall, average hibachi place. Pros: soup, salad, and ice cream included w/ hibachi meal. Cons: Fried rice (cooking on hibachi grill) is extra $1.50 - they will bring you the steamed rice for free. Another thing I noticed is lack of standard hibachi noodles. Overall, quality is food is pretty good - a bit pricey; not fit for frequent dining.

I loved it! Your experience does depend on your cook but you can ask the hostess to seat you with someone good. What is cool is that they have the cast of "Finding Nemo" in their aquarium!

The Mr. drove all the way to Buford to do some shopping. We were starving and i was craving Hibachi so i looked up hibachi on yelp and the only place was Kani House. We saw the reviews and were like "eh...lets give this a try" The host staff was very friendly...greeted us as soon as we walked through the doors. We got sat at a nearly full table so it didnt take so long to get started. I ordered a frozen margarita and it wasnt too good... Now the dude that cooked the food dragged himself to the grill thingy and we were worried cos he looked a little depressed. He kinda got more excited as the cooking went on. Yes the appetizer was 2 shrimps....wtf...BUT everything was included like a previous review said....soup, salad and dessert(sorbet or vanilla ice cream). The fried rice made me want to LICK my plate clean. and the shrimp was heavenly. Im not a big fan of chicken and also by the time the cook got to that part, i was already full and i had finished my rice!! I really like rice so thats all that matters anyway and i wasnt disappointed. 4 stars for Kani House!!

I love these people. When I'm in town I eat hear 2-3 times. The food is above avg and the staff is incredible, both behind the sushi bar and the bar bar.

The design is very warming. The food is above average. I only eat hibachi there because I enjoy the show. They need to take it easy on their seasoning. It could be VERY salty sometimes. The prices are on the expensive side, expect to spend around $65 for 2 people depending on what you order. The portion is very hearty, but it takes an effort to go through it all with all of the salt. The waitresses are too busy to pay attention sometimes and are feel often ignored. They make a very nice soft-shell crab dish, but once again, could be a little cheaper.

Came here for dinner. The place is large, beautifully decorated, and noise level is not so high that you can't hear your fellow diner's conversation. We were seated fairly quickly by the hostess and asked to be seated at the sushi bar. Waitresses wear traditional Japanese Kimonos which is a nice touch. They are prompt and courteous and very helpful. For those overwhelmed by sushi menus, Kani House offers picture menus of their most popular sushi rolls. Sushi here is a tad bit pricey but WELL WORTH it. Our sushi did take a while to make, although I must add that it is because the sushi chef presented our sushi rolls in one plate so we had to wait until each selection was prepared. What we ordered: $12.95 Flaming Dragon Roll: Shrimp tempura & jalapeños topped with spicy tuna, volcano sauce, green chili, hot sauce, & red tobiko: MY FAVORITE: VERY DELICIOUS NOT TOO SPICY AND THE SAUCES WERE INCREDIBLE: HIGHLY RECOMMEND $11.95 Heather's Roll: Deep fried Kanikama, avocado & cucumber topped with fresh tuna then seared. Then topped with sweet eel sauce, spicy mayo, wasabi sauce, & tempura flakes. $11.95 Rock n Roll: shrimp tempura, cucumber & avocado topped with BBQ freshwater eel, smoked Salmon, tempura flakes, spicy mayo, sweet eel sauce & masago. LEAST FAVE $6.95 Crunch California Roll: California Roll deep fried with sweet eel sauce & sweet cream sauce on top: A GOOD TAKE ON THE CALIFORNIA AND ONE OF MY FAVES $7.95 Tiger Eye Roll: Assorted Fresh fish wrapped in seaweed then deep fried & topped with spicy mayo, sweet eel sauce & sweet cream sauce OVERALL I HIGHLY RECOMMEND COMING HERE SOLELY FOR THE SUSHI! ON ANOTHER NOTE, BOTH SUSHI CHEFS WERE ATTENTIVE AND QUITE CHARMING

The energy and vibe that comes from Kani House can put anyone in a good mood. The people who choose to dine here, and the staff also, all appear to be in a good mood. The portions are huge, every time I go I wish I had shared instead of getting my own dish. The hibachi room is filled with laughter and flames of fire from the grill. The sushi bar and dining room is also available to those who don't want to dine in front of the grill. Their fried rice is the best, especially with that 'special sauce' (the salmon colored one).

I've had sushi and hibachi at this location many times --both are consistently good. The wait staff is friendly and responsive. If I had one complaint it would be the loudness of the birthday celebrations. They get out this drum--and EVERYONE TOGETHER NOW!--sings... oh, it's awful. 4 stars for good food and friendly staff. Just put the drum down!

    (4)
  • Hamad Z.

Wack ass Japanese food that's owned by a Korean. Lolll. Their sushi was mediocre at best. Overpriced for the quality they serve. Don't order their dumplings. They can't even make them right. I opened my wooden box of dumplings and every single one of them was broken. Tofu was pretty tasty though and had a nice presentation to go with it. I would not go back even though I got the waitresses number.

I really like Kani House. This is a great hibachi restaurant that uses very fresh ingredients. They also have very good sushi, and if you sit at the sushi bar the chefs make you special little plates :-) I have gotten the steak, the chicken, and the shrimp. I've never been disappointed and the food is always cooked to my specifications. My husband likes the salmon and the "Hula Steak." The Hula Steak is a steak prepared on the hibachi grill with pineapple chunks in a teriyaki sauce served inside of a pineapple ring. It's really fun and tastes pretty good (my husband loves it). They also give you the standard salad and broth-based soup, along with steamed rice. Fried rice (the kind everyone actually wants) costs a bit extra. My only complaint is that you don't get as many vegetables as I would prefer. They are my favorite part of the meal and I would like to see a larger portion size. It seems like they bring the same amount of vegetables to the table no matter how many people are seated. So, if you are sitting at a nearly empty table, you get a lot. If you're at a packed table, not so much. We like sitting at the hibachi grills and watching their performance, and we enjoy sitting in the table area as well. The service is always prompt, and the hot tea is very good and free.

It was a bad experience for me. When I got there, they told us that it would take 20 minutes to sit at a booth. Well, there weren't that many people waiting but we were so tired from a water park so we went for a side table. The waitress was okay. She forgot a glass of water once but no big deal. I ordered $11 shrimp tempura udon soup. I liked the salad and a soup that came with the entree. However the entrée itself was very disappointing. Shrimps were tiny. The breading tasted cheap. The soup was plain and had a weird combination of vegetables: zucchini, shredded carrots, and sliced mushrooms.

Our first restaurant experience since moving to Buford. My wife and I let the kids stay with their grandparents and went out for dinner and a movie. We love hibachi style food. Kani house was a good experience. The wait staff was helpful but not outstanding. The chef was entertaining. The chicken my wife got was a bit overcooked but not horrible. I got the chef's special which included filet, scallops and shrimp. Everything was cooked very well and tasted great. Standard dinner comes with salad, soup, your meal, STEAMED rice, and either ice cream or sorbet for dessert (included). We paid extra for friend rice and were not disappointed. We will definitely be dining here again.

Kani House is great! I come here anytime I'm in the area for a day of shopping. Today we sat at the sushi bar, which was nice and quiet. The host and hostess who helped seat us were both young, upbeat, and friendly. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. The sushi chef was wonderful. He welcomed us with a smile and immediately started our sushi rolls as soon as we ordered. I LOVE the selection of vegetarian sushi rolls that Kani House offers. I've been to so many restaurants that only have boring veggie rolls, like cucumber or cream cheese rolls. While those are both good, they get a little old after a while. I ordered the spicy tofu roll and a fried asparagus roll. It's always more exciting to sit right at the sushi bar and watch the chef make your food in real time! He really took his time and the rolls came out beautiful. And more importantly, they were delicious! The tofu roll was amazing, and the spicy sauce on top was sooo good. The fried asparagus roll was one I'd never had before. I'm not a huge fan of asparagus to begin with, so frying definitely added to the flavor ;) Overall, I would recommend Kani House to anyone who enjoys asian cuisine, especially yummy sushi!

Took the family out and they really enjoyed themselves. The kids enjoyed chicken hibachi and my wife the salmon. Myself, I devoured a Bento box. A decent portion of Beef stif fry with steamed rice, shrimp, vegetable tempura, rice balls, California roll along with soup& salad and ice cream for $19. For drink I had a Bahama Mamasana. The atmosphere was great for family and they had a small bar upfront. The food was a lot fresher than some of the lower level hibachi style restaurants in the area.

I've been to a lot of hibachi places. I'm not a big fan, but I always seem to end up at one at least a couple of times a year. This is probably the worst customer service and hibachi entertainment I've experienced. I don't like asking for things, but it's a restaurant! I felt as if asking for something was a huge burden on them. I've only received terrible service like this on the Dutch side of st maartin. I don't really care for the hibachi entertainment, but there were kids in our party and the guy was pretty much just cooking silently. No amusing tricks for the little ones. Party poopers. I wanted to try the sushi before ordering a bowl of chirashi, but I guess they forgot about my sushi because they brought it out after I asked again 30 min later when the hibachi guy came out. So much for an appetizer. The sushi wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I might come back here if it's close by for a quick sushi fix. I didn't end up getting the chirashi, but the filet mignon at other hibachi places was better. They didn't use the butter :( My family seems to like it though for the most part. So, I suppose you can take my review with a grain of salt.

My boyfriend and I went there for the first time a few weeks ago. Food is generously proportioned, deliciously seasoned and you can't beat the entertainment. I had the chicken while he had steak and lobster. Soup, salad, tea, and ice cream all add to the full course meal. Very, very good. Highly recommend. We loved it so much, we are planning our next trip! Busy on the weekends so make reservations. You won't regret it!

2 stars is me being generous. The floor is dirty, my steak was well done when I asked for medium. There was no flavor to the rice or vegetables. I ordered steak, chicken and shrimp. I didn't get the chicken. The cook had no enthusiasm and only spoke in Spanish to the Hispanic guests that shared our table. That's cool and I'm fine with that, but really try to communicate with the rest of the table.

I really like Kani House!!! The chefs at the Hibachi tables are very entertaining! At times I was so entertained, I forgot to eat! This past Sunday, my husband and I sat at a regular table and ordered Bento Boxes. Bento Boxes are my new favorite! We got a lot of food for the price. I ordered the Filet Mignon Bento Box. The steak was very tender. (I took home leftovers and my filet mignon was still tender the next day!) The fried rice is hot, the tempura shrimp is light and crispy. Overall, the food is really good! I will definitely eat here again!

Every time it's amazing! The hibachi is phenomenal. They now offer a pineapple steak that is to die for! You get Soup, salad, rice and ice cream with your meal. The chefs are always amazing even late at night when you know they must be tired from juggling eggs all day. And don't forget the sushi. The menu they offer is one of the largest I have seen in the area. The servers are always nice and your drink is never empty. I also love the ambiance of the place. It's a little pricey but Definitely well worth it.

Skip the menu items with tempuras and mayo. Ask for sashimi and hand rolls. I always sit at the bar and ask chef what is good for sashimi. Enjoy the fish , leave the rolls to non-sushi folks. If you have to have a roll go with Ladybug.

Just your typical Hibachi meal type place. Extremely family orientated and very loud almost like a large cafeteria! I had the Chicken hibachi made right in front of me. There were no complaints about the food though the service was a bit slow. It was probably even more busy since there was a Groupon for it and the fact it's right across the street from the Mall of GA. It's definitely worth a try but nothing extraordinary came out of the visit...

These hibachi restaurants are so overrated. It's okay. Steak was a bit tough. Chicken was just okay. Shrimp was good. Filet mignon was good but not the best quality. The grilled veggies were great! The sushi was pretty average. Not terrible but not great enough to rave about either. An average meal for 2 adults and 1 child ran us about 60 bucks or so. A little much, don't you think? Service is also not that great. The hostesses were very polite & friendly. But the waitresses weren't that great. The service wasn't terrible but they could be at least a little more friendly. We had to ask for items at least 3 times before they remembered to bring it out. Overall, Kani House is just another hibachi restaurant. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here. But I'm not saying that you shouldn't give it a try if you haven't yet. The experience that you will have will depend on the staff that serves you. Some better than others.

Sunday night and my party of 4 showed up without reservations. I called an hour and a half before and the girl said yes we take reservations and then I asked to reserve 4 seats for 9 it was 7:30... She then said oh no we don't do "call aheads"... I wasn't showing up in 5 minutes... So I was a little bothered and said ok. No reservations... Just moved up from Miami and LOVE Benihana! Walked in to this place and the ambiance was just strange. Had a bunch of sings and ppl running around in silky night gowns.. This was not Benihana... Got it Was seated within 5 minutes, GREAT! But the seats and floor were dirty. Both with rice and sticky something's. We all ordered beer to avoid having to drink from what we thought would be dirty glasses... This place will cost you a pretty penny but if you like the hibachi experience and don't know much better I guess it's worth it. The food was good, and our cook was very sweet. Also had sushi, and it too tasted good. (Niko Niko is the best I've found this far) Personally, I would not come back again unless someone else was paying and we had no other option. I'm really big on cleanliness and expect clean silverware, cups, chairs, table and floor....

This is a busy, nicely decorated Japanese/Sushi restaurant. I am an aficionado of sushi and in Atlanta every Japanese/Sushi I try is compared to the best I have yet found - Sushi Yoshi (Norcross). The Miso Soup was good (not great) and the house salad small. Excellent was the tempura red snapper that was served as a welcome snack. Kani House's prices are 40% higher that what I pay for sushi/sashimi at Sushi Yoshi and though the portion of fish were large, the quality of was inferior: the salmon was not firm but slightly soft and it had a noticeable grainy texture. I had seven orders of sushi (no drinks) and I paid $33 + tip. Expensive for what I got.

For years, whenever I'm in town, I take my sister here for table service for sushi and a bento box, or with friends, I sit at the hibachi. Service is always great, no matter how busy they are or not. The hibachi chefs are all very entertaining and it shows that they enjoy what they do. The food is always delicious and always PLENTY of it; so much so, that I always walk away with a to-go box. They have a huuuge sushi menu, so you're bound to argue with yourself, trying to narrow down the few you want to select. Or at least I do. :) Prices are comparable to every other Japanese sushi and steakhouse, but I wish it wasn't so high, since they don't have much competition around except for another chain place.

I felt like this was just another habachi place. Maybe cause it was near Mall of Georgia? I dont know. I didnt see anything special about this place The food was great. The service was good. I had no issues overall. If youre looking for a decent habachi restaurant in this area, I would say definitely take a try and you wont be disappointed.

So Kani House is another hibachi grill, I like their sushi better though. It was my second time at Kani's, and this time i went for the hibachi instead of just the sushi. I got the salmon and n.y steak strip combo and fried rice for the hibachi. In terms of flavors, it isnt bad- but it isnt worth the money. In my opinion, really youre paying to watch your chef cook on a show. Sometimes if youre lucky though, you'll get an entertaining one-otherwise its just someone with no personality. The food just never wows me when it comes to hibachis. Try their sushi rolls though :)

Now, I do not mind paying for good food, but I either came on a bad night or have been spoiled by Kirin's House because my meal here was not good at all! We went there to celebrate my friends birthday and she loves sushi and wanted to give this place a try. Once we got there we were pleasantly greeted and I love that the waitresses have on Kimonos(it really made me want one!) and the service was alright. HOWEVER, for what you pay and what you get, I was very disappointed. My friends ordered sushi and I got the hibachi chicken. The hibachi comes with what they call a "shrimp appetizer" which is nothing more than two small pieces of shrimp that is on your chicken hibachi plate. I thought appetizer was before the meal, but whatevs. Anywho my chicken was dry, the sauce was not good and the sushi I tried was Meh. Maybe next time I will sit around the grill for the show instead of ordering from the kitchen because that very well might have made a difference. Overall, I've had way better hibachi for a better price.

Came here once and will not return. The place feels like a hospital cafeteria inside, no warm lighting or decor, just stark off-whites and bright lights and catalog chairs with a million people in the place. I don't see what the appeal is, especially since the food is no better than the septic mood of the place. I served 8 years in the USMC and (other than in the field) we had warmer mess-halls than this place. None of our 8 person group really thought the food was anything special. I'm guessing it's so popular because anything next to Mall of GA will do well as long as roaches aren't crawling all over the place.

It's always someone's birthday at hibachi places; I feel like its the only occasion that we go to a hibachi place. Stopped by with a few friends for a friend's birthday (surprise?) this past weekend. I've stopped by the other Kani locations before, the one by East Cobb and the one by Johns Creek. I feel like this location is the MOST BUSIEST out of all of them though. Sure, the busiest but not the best in terms of quality and or service. The few other times I've been to Kani House, the quality of their ingredients are impeccable as well as their service. That's probably one of the main reasons why my friends prefer Kani House over other hibachi restaurants. One of the main reasons why I'm okay with their higher prices than their local competitors. One of the main things that boggled our minds was that they did not do reservations. I've worked at hibachi joints in my college days, and this is probably the first time I've heard of a hibachi joint not taking reservations. Whatever, so we waited which was kind of long (30m wait time at 8pm in a way OTP restaurant) but just irked me that they didn't do reservations. We ordered 5 hibachi meals and a sushi platter. The sushi quality seemed under par for Kani House that day. I know it was busy, but it took them probably good 30 to 35m until it got to the table. The ingredients didn't look as fresh (which didn't make sense since the turnover should be fantastic on a Saturday) and it was noticeably made in a hurry. E and I complained about how our steak was overly salty while we were eating it; that never happens at Kani House. It's either under seasoned (which I can live with since I eat it with a bit more sauce) or just right on the salt but today, really heavy handed. Also, another thing that really rubbed me the wrong way, they give you less food at this location than at the other ones. I went to the East Cobb Kani House maybe like a month ago, and comparing how much food I got there versus how much food I got at this location, I could tell I was getting less. I was kind of let down at the whole experience here and I don't think I'll ever visit this location again.

This Georgia-only hibachi / sushi deal is a pretty standard stop for me when I am in the area visiting my girlfriend's parents. Since their house is a solid 2 hours (and change) north of baggage claim at ATL, Kani House is a nice middle of the road pit stop for lunch, dinner, or an in-between meal to be named later. In the never-ending debate on hibachi vs. table service...I actually prefer table service. Hibachi is fun to watch, but all that oil they use making the onion blow up and light up various shapes on the flat top inevitably ends up in the food, and then remains in my stomach hours later as a giant lump. However, the table service, anti-frills no-fun hibachi is decidedly void of all that extra oil. Besides that, they make a mean fried rice, and I usually go with the shrimp and chicken, but their steak (fillet) is very good too. Other staples - miso soup is decent, and the salad with ginger dressing is a little creamier than what I am used to - I assume this makes it worse for me (I am a calorie monster), but it is very, very tasty. If I'm in the mood for sushi (which I am most of the time) - there are a lot of rolls to choose from. Pretty much all the standard raw ones, but the majority of the specialty rolls are fried and sauced in some way, which I am generally not a fan of. The menu is void of riceless options; I usually like to supplement my sushi selections with a cucumber wrapped roll - much easier to come by back in the Northeast. The only roll i've had that I wouldn't recommend is the yellowtail scallion; it is laced with wasabi and it tastes like a big burning mess of fire. The quality of sashimi varies but is extremely well priced for the quantity (stress: quantity) you get. I remember a few times going in and getting giant slices of yellowtail with those deep, fresh colors you look for in very fresh fish (this was actually at their Dawsonville location,) and other times getting something that was almost white and was probably frozen for some extended period of time. Tonight was the latter, with disproportionate slices (two big, three small, one that looked like a cube) and color that was somewhere in the middle of white and fresh. On the service side, the waitstaff have been consistently excellent. My girlfriend's mom is allergic to soy, and they are always happy to prepare her hibachi separately so she doesn't have a reaction - definitely something we appreciate.

Whenever I want a hibachi experience that won't disappoint I will go to kani house. The chef I get here is always entertaining and made sure the party have a great time. The portion of the food is also huge so even if its a higher price than most hibachi place, its good and plenty. I also love their extensive sushi menu. I always get a sushi roll with my hibachi. Love it! I haven't been disappointed but I didn't give this place five stars because the service I get here is inconsistent and alot of the time lacking (from the waitress or waiter). Other than that, I would give this place 5 stars.

I've been to Kani House twice, and both times were fun experiences. Our cook was pretty impressive with his hibachi skills and left me wondering how he still has all 10 fingers on his hands based on how much flipping, slicing, and dicing he was doing. The food was great too. Among the five of us, we had the majority of the hibachi options, and nobody had anything negative to say about their food. We all thought the quality was solid, and the chef followed through with everyone's requests to a T. Good stuff. My only complaint is the very limited lunch time window. We came to eat at 2:15 on a Sunday and saw that lunch only went from 12-2. Bummer. They even said "enjoy your lunch" when we sat down, but it was dinner based on their times and prices. I think at least a one hour extension would be nice - who eats dinner at 2:15pm? Apparently we do.

I haven't been to Kani House in over a year and a half I believe; however this is my favorite Japanese spot. I thought I should take the time to write a review as I used to frequent them at least twice a month. When I visit, I always get the Hibachi. The quality of food is excellent. My food is always well seasoned and the portions are very filling. Most times I have enough to take home for a second meal. My drink was always capped off and I never had to ask or establish eye contact for a refill. I love the staff at Kani House. I have nothing but good things to say about them. Oh, might I add that they are very clean too. For me, you can tell a lot about a place by how clean they keep their restroom.

Like a great joke or a perfect jazz song, the value is in the final work....not the pieces. So it's a little disappointing watching someone put my $30 meal together with everyday groceries I have laying around the kitchen. Good food, for me at least, is heightened by the mystique. None the less, the people at Kani were very friendly and hospitable and the guy working the grill made sure we all had fun. With an exception of the Spicy Tofu Sushi, I didn't find the food spectacular but it's a refreshing escape from your everyday dining.

Eason and KC are really great behind the sushi bar. Attentive to customer needs, they prepared wonderful sashimi and additional chef favorites. On the sashimi, Eason cut the fish perfectly. Nigiri, japanese style, with a tail of salmon beyond the rice allowed for dipping without soaking the rice. Care for presentation was evident throughout the meal. Must try are the uni, salmon skin, torched suzuki and broiled smoked salmon couple with Ty Ku sake all made the meal memorable. Highly recommend if you're in Buford.

A guest and I went to the Kani House on Saturday night. We had planned to go to another place, but that place had a two hour wait! When I called Kani House, they only had a 10 minute wait. So, we went there. I had heard good things about the Kani House and hoped it lived up to it's reputation. Unfortunately, it feel short. The good aspects were the decoration and atmosphere. It felt very Japanese and looked the part too. Many of the staff were of Asian decent as well, which lent itself to a more authentic feel. For an appetizer, we ordered a Sumonono. It was a mixture of Sushi. It tasted fresh. The Giant Clam was very tasty. I was looking forward to a good meal with some great teppanyaki action. However, when our chef came to the table, he really just went through the motions. His skills with the instruments was rudimentary at best, flat at worst. Also, he had no personal connection with us. He was quiet and didn't offer much entertainment, even though we tried to egg him on by clapping at the little he was doing. I remember at one point seeing the chef behind him, who was highly entertaining, and thinking how fun it must have been to be at that table. As he continued to cook and I continued to talk with my dinner guest, we were constantly int erupted by their birthday celebrations. I have no problem with making fun of a birthday person and singing a song. But, at Kani House, they bring out a huge Japanese drum and beat it mercilessly to the tune of Happy Birthday. This was very annoying and felt out of place in a teppanyaki place. When our soup got there it was OK. Not great, not bad, just Ok. However, when we got our Fried Rice, I knew that the meal was going down hill. The saltiness of the food was VERY bad. I could hardly eat it. Since I ordered Scallops, which need to be cooked with care and very careful on the salt, given their inclination to tasting saltiness, I was concerned. And, I was right. My Scallops, which were cooked to the right texture, were almost completely ruined by the massive about of saltiness. Their portions were good, so much so that I left food on the plate as I left. But, that was also probably because it was seasoned so poorly. Had it been cooked right, I probably would have taken the remainder home. Over all, The Kani House tasted like a fast-food version of some of my favorite type of food, and that was a huge let down. My suggestion is, if you are looking for good teppanyaki, go elsewhere.

Yummy food with standard pricing for this type of environment. Identical to Benihana's, including the smoke/food smell that gets steamed in your hair and clothes. Love their sushi selection too!

We visit this Kani House a couple of times a month, and always sit at the sushi bar. The chefs greet us warmly, and provide lots of extras and free samples. The other waitstaff has consistently been friendly and attentive. We have NEVER had a bad experience here, and are surprised at all the negative reviews. Granted, we don't do the Hibachi thing, which is just not our style. But if you want decent sushi and reasonable prices, try Kani House.

Only reason I'm giving this place four star is because the sushi is out of this world and they have plenty to choose from. I ordered fried rice.. Never got it. Asked the waitress to bring it out still didn't get it. We went with another couple and the waitress asked if we wanted our bill split and who was paying for the appetizers. However we received one check and was billed for the rice. We had to get the waitress again to take off the rice and split the check. Really should be a 2 or 3 star rating because I hate bad service but the food really was good.

TERRIBLE GAS AND UPSET STOMACHS x's 4 people!!! My family and I have been to this kani house several times before and this was by far our worst experience ever! The food was not tasty at all. I ordered steak and shrimp and the steak was tough. I asked my husband and brother in law about their steak, they said it was tough. We were charged additional for fried rice. We all had fried rice. ?. The veggies were drenched in soy sauce so all we could taste is salt, salt, salt. To top it all off, towards the end of the meal my sister in law said her stomach was beginning to hurt. We sat down for dinner at 5pm. It is now almost 11pm and I have had the WORST GAS since dinner!!! I cant believe we spent sooo much money on our dinner, to have it taste bad and give us upset stomachs and terrible gas. I will not, my family will not ever go back!

The draw is definitely the show, decor and location over the food. But that's what I would probably say about any Japanese steakhouse. We sat at the hibachi grill. Whenever I eat hibachi, I hope for yakisoba on the menu. Unfortunately, Kani House doesn't offer yakisoba. So, I ordered the sukiyaki with a side of noodles. $20 sukiyaki and $4 noodles! I justified it since the sukiyaki included a shrimp appetizer and dessert. Though they didn't allow me to substitute rice with noodles, I'm glad I had the rice because the food got to be too salty at times. However, you have to make sure they bring the rice since they didn't bother to bring mine. Clarification: the "shrimp appetizer" consists of two pieces of shrimp cooked on the hibachi. Not one of the shrimp appetizers from the menu. I also ordered a negi-hamachi roll. My main gripe is that the hamachi meat was grounded up as if it were the old leftover pieces ground up to make the roll. Really unappetizing. The sukiyaki beef was tasty, thought extremely salty. Since hibachi food is plated when it's cooked, you get the vegetables, meat and noodles at different times. Once I had it all on my plate, I mixed it together and it was quite tasty. Clarification: the dessert is sherbert, sherbert that was scooped, stuck with a spoon and frozen for a long enough time to make it a popsicle. Literally. I held it by the spoon handle and shook it and it didn't budge. The highlight of this experience - the clean-up of the grill. If only it were that simple at home!

The Mr. drove all the way to Buford to do some shopping.

Very good birthday celebration experience. One of our party said this was best hibachi she had ever had. Beef and chicken very good quality and well- prepared.

We enjoyed our experience. The waiting service is fair to poor because some requested items took awhile; however, good experience overall.

Well first off they were very hospitable and didn't turn us away eventho we got there 5 minutes before they closed . I ordered the Galbi (short ribs) with fried rice it was good, well seasoned, for what it was I would return again.

The hibachi grill is great and I love the steak, shrimp and rice. It is always fun to see kids reactions to the hibachi chef cooking and flinging shrimp at them. Nice casual atmosphere for families or groups.
