Located in a strip mall. Ordered the Honey pecan fried chicken. 2 five oz breasts deep fried in spicy butter with honey pecan sauce. Served with rice - bit of a kick. Really good; the rice was a pleasant surprised. Salad with house made bleu cheese dressing. Had a 420 Pale Ale from the Sweet Water Brewery in Atlanta. Good to try a new beer. It was good. The fries are cut like a thin cottage fries almost a chip. Really good. I really enjoyed the dinner. Service was good, friendly.

This place is really a gem. The ambiance is a very casual, rustic feel. Seems very comfortable and not particularly upscale. Yet the food is pretty refined compared to the decor. I should mention that, despite the name, the food is Louisiana cuisine, not French cuisine. We had a really nice smoked salmon appetizer. I had seafood crepes and my wife had a shrimp platter. It was a bit on the pricey side but considering the quality of the food not unreasonable.

Heard this was supposed to be one of Augusta's best restaurants.. so of course my expectations were on the high side. I ended up splitting the full shrimp po' boy with J. I didn't like that there was slaw in the sandwich (actually, it was falling out of the sandwich). I expected it to be served on the side. The french bread was tasty and there was a generous portion of lightly breaded shrimp stuffed in the sandwich. It came with a choice of chips or fries. We got the fries and they were decent. We also got garlic mashed potatoes, which again were average. Nothing to write home about. Nothing particularly savory or impressive. My friend got the blackened grouper (which was on the pricey side) and described it to be flavorless. She didn't even end up finishing her dish. The service wasn't that great. It took a long time for our food to come out and our waitress seemed really busy and slightly flustered. Overall, this place probably deserves 2.5 stars but I'll be generous and give 3. I probably wouldn't go back..

Had drinks and dinner here tonight w/ friends. First impression was that the food smelled great, and that it appeared pretty popular. We had dinner in the bar area, and while it started out fairly quiet, by the end of the meal, the bar was standing room twice over. Some would find this annoying, but since i like bars and crowds, and figured this could occur, I enjoyed it. The service was prompt, courteous and never disappointed. We started w/ the marinated shrimp appetizer. Very good flavor.. After the teaser, I decided more shrimp was in order and had their Barbequed Shrimp Meal. The description states: Another one of our best! Big shell-on shrimp sautéed in beer, garlic, creole seasoning, and worchestershire. Served over rice. This recipe is so hot we keep it locked in a fire-proof safety deposit box. While it was beautifully plated, and had a delicious flavor with a little spice (by my standards), it was far from a 3 chili rating (unless they are rating on a 10 chili scale), especially since 3 chili's was the most on the menu. That being said, I loved the atmosphere, the food and the service, and am excited about the next chance to sample the menu.

Great and unexpected spot! I guess it's not really a surprise to locals in the Augusta area, but I was really happy to end up here on a Friday night. Seems like you can cover a wide range here, with very classic french/creole style food, to healthy options if you're not feeling like heavy fare. We started out with some amazing crawfish, though chickened out on sucking the heads.. (We caught some flak from her family members over the weekend for not doing so..) The food and service were both great, and I got to enjoy a great beer along with the fantastic weather on the patio. All in all a great call, you should be able to satisfy pretty much whatever you're in the mood for here!

We've been going here and the original restaurant for three decades I guess. We always enjoy Tuesday crab night. And tonight the food was good as usual, no real complaints there. We were in for the first time in probably 6-8 months because of a similar experience to what I'm about to describe. This is more of a review for the manager and his waitstaff. We sat down at 7:35. We had drinks in 10 minutes or so, that was all good. We ordered our dinner with salad and gumbo. The salad and gumbo came out in 3-5 minutes. Our dinner came out in 10-12 minutes, while we were still eating salad and gumbo. We are eating our dinner and while my wife has a mouthful and handful of crab the waitress asks us if we are ready for desert. We both have a full glass of wine left and my wife is still eating?? Really? So then she brings the check without me asking for it. I might have planned on spending two more hours drinking $8 glasses of wine I can get for $12 a bottle at Publix. Then she passes by the table every 30 seconds waiting to see if I've dropped my credit card yet. Then when I do she runs it and is back in literally 90 seconds or less. This all happens by 8:26 per the receipt. We had been there 51 minutes and were being shoved out the door. The couple next to us got there 10-15 minutes after us and left 10 minutes before us. Less than 31 minutes. I don't know what the strategy is here, but they need to tell the staff to chill out a little and let people listen to Wayne play guitar and enjoy themselves. It's French Market, not Zaxby's. Lets treat it like so.

I should have known better than to come here. I've gone to New Orleans a gazillion times by now and everyone tries really hard to imitate it and they just can't compare. The three stars was because we had a group of 12-13 people and the server did an awesome job. I ordered the oyster po-boy and raw oysters. The raw oysters were okay but the po-boy was just not good. I did try a crawfish that someone ordered and it actually had decent flavor. I probably won't be coming back.

Had dinner at the French Market Grill on Saturday night 4/25/15, the food was not at all what I expected, and seeing as it has been rated as Augusta's best for 14 years this was a huge disappointment. I found the steak over cooked and cold, lobster rubbery which made the meal not worth the $30.00 price. Found restaurant to be dirty the wait staff didn't seem to notice the mess under tables near ours. The waitress took her time bring drinks and also our meals. Will never go back and if this is the best Augusta has to offer doubt that we will dine out in Augusta, will travel to Akin SC.

I have never paid much attention to the pies (though I believe from Janelle C. that it's great). I've always been OBSESSED with the FMG's bread pudding. It's all about the hard sauce. The house salad dressing, RBR, etouffee and blackened snapper are all great too! FMG is family owned and has been around for at least 20 years. Also, exceptionally good martinis (try the Cajun one). This is one of Augusta's rare treats.

Fun New Orleans theme. Tasty filet and honey pecan chicken that was spicy and crispy. I loved the mint dressing on the salad...even ate the cucumbers in it. The desserts however are oh my god good! Had the sampler between myself and two others. Peanut butter pie, turtle pie and lemon cream cheese pie. PIE PIE PIE I wept from the beauty. Not really but I could have!

Excellent creole cuisine. Fried shrimp are similar to what I grew up with in New Orleans.

Been going here for lunch. Get lunch specials for less $10, you get drink, salad, & entree plus bread. We also get crawfish or steamed oysters. Bread pudding with rum sauce to die for. Get the seafood pasta for lunch. Best New Orleans food in Augusta. The original location prices are higher for lunch. We really like this place. Service is always friendly & timely.

I give this review 3 stars only because the waitress was horrible. She didn't seem to like her job. We had some eye rolling from her. Very ill mannered customer service. The food was great. I don't if we would go there again. Maybe request a different waiter.

Trout almandine...sooooo good! And if you are an oyster fan you HAVE to order the Oyster spinach salad. They make their own bacon vinagerette dressing. MMM....

Went here as a family outing and very disappointed. I ordered the grouper sandwich and it was just plain bad. The fries were way over cooked and swimming in grease. The sandwich was supposed to be on a nice bun and it was on plain loaf bread that was stale. The tomato on top was border line rotten so it got pealed off. For a sandwich like this you would expect a single piece of fish. I got 4 small pieces strewn together that were again fried into oblivion. Some one at my table ordered the same thing and got a similarly bad plate. I would normally refused the meal after a few bites but since this was supposed to be a gift to the family by a single person I had to grin and eat it as not to be rude. Glad i didn't order desert as you could hear people commenting they should have said they didn't want pieces frozen solid. The service wasnt very good either, granted we had a large group,13 people, but at the time there was only 3 other small tables there.and we were our servers only table. Wont be coming back

We sat in the bar area. It was cramped and the server was inattentive. Appetizers were good and reasonably priced. Overall, good food, poor atmosphere due to cramped space, and mediocre service. Needs to expand, change dull signage, and improve decor.

Very decent New Orleans Cajun style food. I had a salad which looked like it came from a bag though. Definitely not using too much "fresh" stuff. I'll go again, but at least my expectations won't be that high. Maybe dinner would be better.
