Their Italian sub is made with some sweet honey ham which makes me cringe a little inside. It's my fault for not really breaking down the specifics of the menu and once I bit into it, I instantly knew something was up. In the future, I'd probably stick to more classic like a meatball sub or a turkey club 'cause for $9, I got the soggy lovechild of a honey baked ham and salami. Yuck. But...they win points for their hot sauces and the amazing Coke machine of wonder.

Negative stars. Worst Firehouse sub location. The restaurant is a mess, the tables are dirty. Stood in front of the register for close to 10 minutes without being helped while employees behind the counter talked and kid around with employees in the dining area. If you want to fill your Firehouse sub cravings drive couple of miles down to North Augusta or Wrighstboro Road location where your dining experience will be much better.

I mean, it's ok. It's not terrible. I guess it's a very blah kinda place. Let's see, their atmosphere and setup is your stereotypical chain sub shop kinda place. Nothing terrible, nothing great. Their premise is kind of cool, it was founded by firefighters and some portion of the proceeds go back to helping firefighters or safety, it's a nice idea. The food is disappointing. They make subs, but more like...pieces of bread with various things inside. Let me explain. When I think of subs I think of fresh sliced meat/cheese, iceberg lettuce, veggies, mayo, oil+vinegar, etc. This is not that. This place is more like a Quizno's or whatever. They toast things, grill things, use bland meats/cheese, and the bread is quite tasteless and a bit too dense for a 'real' sub. The positive point is they have a huge selection of various hot sauces you can use. I imagine this is because the sub itself is somewhat tasteless, so it helps when you add a bit of something to spice it up. But that's ok. As long as you know what you are getting yourself into, that's not necessarily a bad thing. Maybe you want a sandwich like this. The only downside in that situation would be the price. $8-9 for a half-sandwich, a small bag of chips and a soda? Really? Seems a bit excessive. You can go to Blimpie and get a more 'real' sub for half that price. And it's be a better sub! On the plus side, the employees at this location have always been friendly!

I love firehouse subs but if you wanna enjoy a peaceful meal inside with your family, I wouldnt recommend this location. There was a drunk lady inside the shop asking for money the whole entire time me and my family were eating. I thought the workers were going to tell her to leave but they never did. It was very disturbing.

They need a list of veggie options to choose as toppings posted somewhere on menu board. I didn't even know they had options other than what was assigned to sandwiches. Server had to read off to me from her cash register. I asked for banana peppers, blk. olives and jalapenos added with an oil/vinegar. I had the Corned beef - it was nicely cooked medium well with some nice pinkish rare pieces. I would prefer to ask for more rare pieces, but it looks like that the meat has been pre wrapped prepare just to slap on the bun. Subs are grilled and cheese melted. You can get Double meat option for $2 more. You can make your sub a LARGE for $2 more. This possibly makes your sub a $10+ sandwich. There are combo options to add a drink and chips...which appears to be over $2+ more also. They have the Cool 120+ COKE fountain to make any concoction flavored drink you want. I was surprised to see a customer put over 10 different flavors in her drink... blech... can't imagine what sugary mess that was. What was unique, were the various choices of hot sauces. Up to heat index 10... and sample lightly... whew... some were just no flavor, but HOT! I liked the gator hammock gator sauce peppery and spicy just right... I seem to recall it had a heat scale of 5 or 6 and had a nice vinegary/peppery kick. The Xtreme was just uncomfortable hot and I began to sweat. And this was just an 8. Dave's total insanity. Was a ten and lite garlicky. But no taste after my extreme! Devils drop was just a watery heat. No flavor. Unless u mix with other ingredients. There are coupons... just need to find them.

Try Online Ordering. Always ready when you get there. This location also has little to-go containers with lids for the hot sauce, and they have had Gator Hammock Gator Sauce each time lately. That girl at the register isn't really smiley, but she is professional and accommodating.

I have always been a fan of this chain and this particular location has not changed my mind. The place is pretty clean, the staff is always friendly and their sandwiches are delicious. I ordered the engineer sandwich which has turkey, sauteed mushrooms, swiss cheese, and tomato, lettuce, onion, and spicy mustard on a wheat roll with a pickle on the side . Its a simple enough sandwich, but oh so delicious. Another thing that they tend to have is a huge variety of hot sauces, now I'm not a fan of that sort of thing but at least there is the option to add some pain to your meal :-) Another incentive for going for those of you that are MCG students is that they give out a 10% discount with your student ID. And believe me this location much better than the one they have on campus... you get a bigger sandwich and more toppings. Overall good food, clean place, and friendly staff. Def recommend if you want something different from Subway and don't mind spending a few more bucks..
