After living in Augusta for several years this was actually my first time visiting the Carolina Ale House. I remember when the restaurant use to be a Tony Roma's restaurant before. My wife and I went in to eat lunch on a Sunday afternoon. Hardly any customers were there, which can be expected for a Sunday afternoon before the church crowd rush. The service was good, we were seated immediately and our waitress came over shortly after. I had to ask for the beer menu because it wasn't on the table nor handed to us with our menus. I found that a little strange considering that this is an ale house after all. The beer selection is decent, I wish they had more of a choice for what's on tap. However, their bottled beer selection is quite extensive. When my beer was brought to our table the waitress apologized that it took so long because they had to change the keg. I had no problems with the wait, especially if it meant getting served fresh beer. Even though the service was good the food was subpar. They have your typical sports bar fare. I ordered the Carolina Cue (barbecue) sandwich which comes with their Carolina Ale House Fries and their house made coleslaw. My wife ordered the BBQ boneless chicken fingers which comes with the Carolina Ale House Fries, celery and carrot sticks, and your choice of dipping sauce. The food came quick. Despite my wife not asking for any they still gave her ranch dipping sauce. Portion sizes were decent. My wife actually received more fries than me though. I was really disappointed by the Carolina Cue sandwich. I am from North Carolina and a die hard Carolina style barbecue fan. This was nothing like authentic Carolina style barbecue. People think that you can just slow cook a pork shoulder, slap some BBQ sauce on it, and call it Carolina barbecue. That might fool some people that don't know any better but for this Carolina boy it won't work. The pork itself was too fatty and the meat was just too wet. The sauce used definitely wasn't the vinegar based sauce which is the trademark of authentic Carolina style barbecue. It was the sweet variety that is more typical of Memphis or Kansas City style barbecue. It was probably some store bought Heinz bottled sauce. Nothing special. I understand that this is a chain restaurant but if you're gonna call yourself the Carolina Ale House then you better bring it in the barbecue department. The kaiser bun that the barbecue was served on was completely soggy. It was disgusting. It just soaked up all the grease and sauce. I had to do away with the bun and just eat the barbecue with a fork. The house made coleslaw was decent if not a bit dry. The sandwich same with pickle slices on the side for some reason. I've never eaten pickles on by barbecue. I hate to say it but the fries were the highlight of the meal. A shame really. They were steak fries that seem like they were beer battered. Not bad. I dipped them in my wife's ranch dressing that came with her meal (and she didn't want). The waitress did bring an extra side of their Carolina Cue sauce which was nice but I didn't need it. My wife let me try a bite of her boneless chicken fingers. They were good. The chicken was tender and the BBQ sauce it was dipped in was sweet (different than the Carolina Cue sauce though). All in all it was a subpar meal for me. If I ever return I'll definitely be getting something other than their joke of a barbecue sandwich. If my next meal there isn't any better then I don't think that I'll ever return.

For some reason the "first come first serve" goes by quicker here than at BWW. And the menu (food and drink) is better here. Plus they have a larger outdoor seating area. I usually come here before chancing BWW. But if you strike out, BWW is still just right across the street.

A typical sports bar with a Georgia flair. The buffalo wings are pretty good as is the beer selection. I had a burger which required a few extra napkins. Not sure why but the burgers are extra greasy.

Sports Bar at its best. Great burgers and entree salads. Fun atmosphere with plenty of TVs. Great outdoor dining with full bar. Good for large crowds as well.

The food is good, however I have eaten there 5x and every single time the service was terrible... From being extremely slow, downright rude to basically unprofessional. I don't understand how the management can put up with this, but I assume that because they're usually full in a town without good bars they don't feel the need to improve.

My honey's favorite place before I moved here, and now it's mine too. Good food, atmosphere, and service. Don't remember the name of the waitress who served us on my 2nd visit, but appreciated the nail shop recommendation as I had yet to find one.

This place is your typical bar and burger house and if there were better options out there, I wouldn't be here so often. Damn my laziness for keeping me out of the kitchen when I'm craving buffalo wings and loaded french fries. I like coming here for game days so I never miss a moment of a big sporting event every time I turn my head just a few degrees. I can catch every single play on my way to and from the bathroom. I like judging a place by their salads and the cowboy salad is the only thing on the menu I haven't found in a 5 mile radius. My only complaint is that it takes a long time for bar drinks to get to the bar tables and most of the time it hits the table, the head is gone and the glass is sweaty. It kind of takes the joy out of drinking a cold beer with your junk food but that's just me.

Lunch at Carolina Ale House!! Totally surprised that this place is open for lunch too. Sports Bar yet family friendly. Fresh food, can choose from soul pleasing food to healthy diet! Jees! We were so hungry! Ordered food at 2 pm but appetizers came out 30mins late, we talked, and then wondered if we should've gone to Applebee's instead or Sonics! ( 4.5 stars) Anyways, Ms Weezie was our hostess a real sweet heart, brought our entrées and soft drinks out. Bacon cheese fries and Fried pickles served with ranch sauce! That was gone in 20 minutes! Talk about being hungry!! Real lunch well, by that time that came we decided to pack it and take it home!! And now... this is now one of my trusty restaurants! Shall visit again!!

I've tried really hard to avoid tackling this review. The service and food here continuously proves to disappoint me. This trip was definitely my final. The outside bar area was always my favorite. Upon entrance the waitress expressed openly to another waitress in an undertone voice. "I'm never gonna finish wrapping this silverware. Now I have to wait on them". Her attutude reflected that for the duration of our stay. The restaurant is premiering a new drink that contains, honey Jack Daniels. She did everything to convince me not to order it. After returning from the bar she announces that they are out of the "Jack". When she handed me my plate it was room temperature. No surprise!! The chicken was cold. I am not in the habit of returning food, but I couldn't ignore the lack of heat. The chicken returned without the vegetables and because they reheated them, tasteless and dry. My fingers and toes are crossed. I hope no one invites me here for an outing. "I'm out"!

The family has been here multiple times, and we've yet to be disappointed in the food. When you're in the mood for a sports bar environment, friendly service, and solid food and drink, this is always a reliable place to stop. As another reviewer mentioned, it's not the best restaurant in town, but it's very good for what it's intended to be. We've tried a variety of burgers, chicken wings, and appetizers, and they've all been really tasty. It's not a place I get a specific craving for very often, but I'm always happy after the meal.

Met a friend here to have a little liquid refreshment and watch a game. Flat screens are everywhere and games were on every screen. Wood and beer are everywhere. it reminds me of a cross between Longhorn's bar and Hooter's crowd. Even though there was a good bit of ladies in the house, the scene really impressed me as a guy's spot. The door handles are baseball bats! #Dudely #VeryDudely It seems like a place where the guys can get together and have a beer or two or three to wash down a bunch of wings and fries... Speaking of wings... The Hot Sweet and Sour boneless wings are so good I mixed some of the sauce in the non-descript, out-of the can baked beans they serve and it was like magic! They have specials on various nights. So, if this place sounds like the kind of place you'd like...then I think you'd LOVE it!

I have been to the Carolina Ale house several times. First thing is that I have never been dissapointed in the food. The Pub Burger, Fish and Chips, Salads, and Buffalo Wings are all delicious. The Batter on the Fish and Chips was likely the best I have ever had. The fish was a great quaility Cod and the CAH fries are crisp and tasty. The Pub Burger is always a hit with me. It is just damn good! I also like the Buffalo Wings beacuase they are seasoned well and the 6 count usually is enough for me. Table service has been hit and miss. On the occasions I had issues, the manager immediately corrected the problem. Three of the best servers/bartenders are Jessica, Anil, and Adgi. This location is on the the places I frequent the most in the area. The food is just plain good! BTW....Wed is $3.00 any pint of draft beer and they have a great selection.

Pretty good selection of beer. Too bad that I can't partake right now. Came here for a section dinner. I wasn't impressed by the food at all. The wait staff were excellent and helpful.

So discussed by this tasteless chain. I was going to eat here on my way thru Augusta but I learned about their business practice of suing every small beer shop in Georgia. #aleyeah I'll be dining elsewhere.

I like Carolina Ale House. Although, I don't visit for the Ale. I'm usually there for other drinks. Friends and I meet here often. Especially with groups. They are always good for groups. The staff is prepared and can typically handle the crowds. They see crowds often for the various games in various sports. There's an indoor and outdoor bar. Indoor and outdoor seating. Inside there's a huge projector screen, which shows the game of the sport that's popular or in season. I like the food. I usually order the fish tacos. They recently updated the menu. I'm not sure what has been added, but it has a new look. The parking is good. It is shared with other stores, so after hours there are plenty of spots to choose from. The staff has always been friendly. No complaints here.

I loved the feel of this place. I had the Carolina cue sandwich and it did not disappoint. It had just the right amount of bbq. The fried pickles were fantastic! I couldn't have asked for a better meal, and the service was great, especially for it being busy. I wish I had one in Florida.

Love this place. The Nachos and Ribs are awesome. I came here 6 months ago and had a wonderful experience with the food AND the staff. Last night I had the same experience, but this time I brought my family from PA to Augusta GA. I'm glad the service, food and wait staff were exactly what I told the fam they'd be.

The good: they have a gluten free menu if you ask for it. The bad: the service is slow, there is a tv in every direction, and conversation is impossible because there is bad 80s music playing too. You'll pay 10 bucks for a Caesar salad you could make at home for 3 bucks. However, if you fear conversation and good food then you should probably eat here.

Went for dinner last night with friends. Restaurant is impressively sized, with outdoor seating. HOWEVER... Beer selection looks good on paper. In actuality, our server denied my first choice because it was out of stock, and denied my buddy's first two choices for the same reason. If you're going to have it on the menu, make sure you keep it in stock. Steaks were tasty, but the cut/amount is something you'd expect at a military chow hall (trust me on this), and still priced at $18. The sides were good too, but it was still a bit too expensive for what you actually got. Service was good, even though they were a bit busy. This won't be the last time I go back, but next time I'll stick with pub fare and not get my hopes up when it comes to the beer menu.

My wife and son insisted I try a burger here when the place wasn't overflowing with sports fans, and it was great, almost as good as Farmhaus Burgers. I haven't been enough times to comment on the service, as other have, but then it was a Sunday lunch and they weren't at all crowded. If their service during peak time is, as reported, very poor, then management really SHOULD address it. What good is it to have great food if people are so turned off by the service that they never come back? It's sooooooo much easier to lose a customer than it is to get them back!

I've given this place many chances. Food and service always suck no matter what day, or what I order. Only good thing is a patio to drink beer and watch tv. If you're into that. The food is usually just bland! There's nothing special about it at all. I usually stay safe and just order chips and a dip. That's about the only food that is edible there.

  • David S.

I will assume that our SERVICE is reflective of being a Sunday Night.but have No Clue as to why the Restaurant is OUT OF COFFEE CUPS....GLAD they weren't out of cream....they brought us The Carton...however they quickly took it away...so I guess we only get One Cup

I have been twice this year. Both times I ordered the CAH Steak Salad with feta cheese instead of blue cheese. The first time I went, it was the best steak salad in a long time. The steak was well seasoned and cooked perfectly. Presentation was nice. The next time I went, the steak was not seasoned and some pieces tasted like liver. My wife order the same drink (Lynchburg Lemonade) on both visits. It was great the first visit so she ordered it the second visit. It came out a pink instead of yellow and tasted like grapefruit juice instead of lemonade. So I would say this place is inconsistent which is not what customer's want. It's safe to say that the cooks and bartenders are not all trained equally on the menu.

This is my new go-to spot in Augusta. The Carolina Spiced Wings are some of the best I've had in that style. Service has been excellent every single time. Decent craft beer selection and everything I've tried on tap has always been fresh. Sub your fries for onion strings and get the spicy ranch for dipping. You'll thank me later.

This place has an impressive beer selection and plenty of flat screen tv's to watch sports games. The service has been consistently friendly. The food is mediocre. I've never eaten anything bad here, but I've never been wowed either. Decent place to grab a drink and watch sports.

Was a regular there for years. Today, I lost a friend in a motorcycle accident. Tried to talk to some people about not using their phone while driving. was thrown out. Never go back to this place again.

The boneless wings were huge and flavorful. Great value for the food. The beer choices were 40 on tap but the website makes it look like 80 or more. Not many stouts and no porters, for an "ale house" it's a poor selection, I felt cheated. For a restaurant with good food and decent beer not bad.
