Big Daddy's is consistent and delightful! The food, atmosphere and service is always wonderful. Got a try the ribs!

The food was good but the service or at least our server was not that good. Never came by to ask how we were or ask if we wanted refills we had to ask another server for our check.

My family and I decided to try this place out for dinner one evening. My husband had already been with his friends for lunch and really enjoyed it. I'm always iffy about new places because I have three, crazy littles. When we first arrived, we were seated immediately and our waitress took our drink order. We were given a few minutes to look over everything, and then the waitress came to take our order and answer any questions we may have had. There is such a huge variety on the menu, it was hard to choose. :) Our waitress was beyond friendly and helpful. We had only a short wait for our food. We did opt for the corn muffins as an appetizer, and they were fantastic! My kiddos enjoyed their kid's meals, and the hubs and I enjoyed ours meals too (both of us had pulled pork plates- hubs had a salad and fries and I had corn and mac-n-cheese). The food was spot-on, and I had enough to take home for a second meal! I was just beyond impressed with the service, and the food and was great! We will definitely be back! :)

I ordered the Little Daddy ribs with Broccoli Ribs were not hot at all; barely warm. Water tasted a little funny before I added lemon. Ribs were falling off the bone, tender and tasted great (probably better if they were hot). Never had real hash before but the hash and rice was good. Broccoli was lightly seasoned and hot enough to eat and enjoy. The restaurant was appealing inside and out and looked inviting. Inside atmosphere was was pleasant and so was the greeter, he addressed us immediately upon entering. I will eat/review it again.

Ordered a half rack of ribs and hotwings. Big mistake... The portions are HUGE, I could only finish half of half a rack. It was delicious I honestly tried to keep eating but I was too tired of eating and was staring to have a feeling of gluttony. I enjoyed my visit, the staff even hooked it up with a free beer.... Warning...half a rack plus an appetizer is enough for 2 people.

Outstanding BBQ, though some of the other menu items are lacking. I had the ribs, and they were the best I've had in my life - no exaggeration. The sloppy fries were a hit with the family, too. The appetizers and kids meals were pretty mediocre, but we'll be back to try more of the BBQ options for sure. A big part of me wants to say this is a 3 or 3.5, but they get a lot of points on the strength of that BBQ. Being fair, that's what this place is advertised to be all about.

Good food. Love the twice fried buffalo wings. Brittany was a great waitress. We will be back.

Read the reviews and we're keen to try this place. We were on holidays from Australia and wanted some authentic BBQ and we were not disappointed. Amazing food (portion sizes were gigantic!) very friendly staff, would definitely come back.

OMG, This was the best BBQ ever. If we go through Augusta again we will definitely stop here.

For Veterans Day my honey and I stopped over here to eat. They sweetend up the pot by offering service members free southern fried fritters as an appetizer. The batter was pretty bland but the chicken was moist. Our waiter was accommodating and attentive. For our entrees I ordered 10 chicken wings twice fried with a side of potato chips sloppy with chili cheese on top. He opted for a big daddy patty melt and fries. So onto my wings...... They were salty and not really crispy. The potato chips with chili cheese was very tasteful. My sweetie felt that his patty melt burger was dry and the crinkle fries pretty much sucked. Overall experience I gave it a 3 out of 5. I will be back to try their award winning bbq!!!

Awesome baked beans and pulled pork. The hash I felt was under seasoned. The environment was welcoming and the hostess pleasant. The menu prices were reasonable. I would definitely do a return visit and recommend.

  • Daniel H.

Nothing impressive. I tried the ribs, they were warm, not hot, but they had good flavor slightly tough. The hot potato chips were too greasy and not hot. The service was great and our order came out quickly, so why was our food warm/cool?

My Goodness!!!! This is my favorite bbq I've ever tasted. I'm out in Augusta for the masters and we found a local paradise. They "fixed us up". When you come to this place you have to start with a order of the Rib teasers because that's exactly what it is. 4 play before the real deal. I ordered the 3 item combo ribs, pulled chicken, and pulled pork. They make sauce for each protein. The Rib sauce is Heavenly. The service is just as good as the food which seems to be a theme in the south. This place is a hole in one.

I was back in town so I decided to give this a try. Last time I went to Perry Foster's and was disappointed. I was reading the reviews for Big Daddy's and was skeptical. I look back now and the ones that gave a bad review also review hair salons and nail shops! Not to mention most of their reviews were bad reviews of places they have been! I like to write good reviews to keep small businesses going but I will be honest! I will write a Bad review when deserved. The pulled pork was spot on great, and were the sides. Not to mention ice cold beer!! I will say the staff could use a little help and may actually turn the place around to bring more business in. That aside, I went to eat and eat good is what I did! Don't pay attention to the bad reviews and read the good ones. I myself have a large trailer smoker at home and this place gets 2 thumbs up. Keep up the good cooking!!!

This place is by far one of the best places to eat and grab a beer in the augusta area. The service is quick with servers that are very friendly and very attentive. I haven't tried alot of the bbq items on the menu, but the Buffalo wings are some of the best I've tried. If you do come here (which I highly suggest) come on a Friday when they have the prime rib special which is not on their menu. It is one of the best steaks I've had in a very long time. Overall I would give this place 6 stars if I could. Highly recommended!

Great visit, stopped by for some bbq and to get out of the heat. Was a little concerned about the chain feel but the food was good and the server was awesome! James you rock man, thanks! The fried pickles were tasty, the pork bbq was a little sweeter than usually prefer but it was a good counter point to the brisket baked beans and spicy hash.

  • Kathryn L.

Excellent pulled pork!! Try it with the chicken BBQ sauce for a different flavor experience. The Hash is a little spicy, watch out if you can't tolerate the heat.

It has an EVERYTHING menu. Pork, ribs, fish, shrimp, sandwiches, salads. All is served promptly and it all tastes good. The staff seems to be fun loving and they try hard to get it right. You won't be disappointed. Cost about $15 to $20 per person if you eat a lot of good stuff. You can keep the cost down if you choose right. The bar is pretty good too. Got some televisions all around to keep up with the games.

Great services and from what I've tasted so far GREAT food. Being from out of town they made me feel at home had me sample Hash & Rice for the first time. The baked beans were awesome. The ribs were finger linking good. Southern cooking is Freaking Great. Open up a place in So.Cal. so I can have it closer to home.

Took a chance on this place because it was close to our hotel. Shortly after we were seated the owner came over to our table to introduce himself. He pointed out all of his BBQ trophies that were decorating the place. I ordered the ribs and they were the best I've ever had. My friend had the pulled chicken and he liked that as well.

  • Tim B.

I just love the food here! I have spent time in San Antonio and the BBQ here can go toe to toe with anything I have had before. In the end you'll have to swing in and judge it for yourself, and I hope you do.

I really like this place. I sort of want to give them five stars based on service alone, but on principle, I must reserve that for places that really serve exquisite and unique cuisine on an uncommon tier. That said, I have been here multiple times, and every time I have left completely satisfied. The atmosphere is very "hometown comfy." Relaxed, but still reasonably sharp in its casual presentation. The staff is competent, prompt and friendly. Between my wife and I, we have sampled an array of their food, and we have never had a complaint, despite my possibly obnoxious high standards. Oh, the food. Yes. Here's the thing: a lot of it is bar food. Pub food, if you want. But it's consistently GOOD bar food. Their full bar regularly offers various drink and appetizer specials, and they offer an array of beers on tap, although the selection escapes my memory at the moment. First off, the person(s) who runs the deep-fryer is on their game, and consistently so. Whether it's shrimp, wings, whatever, they know how to make crispy, delicious, battered things come out just like God intended. I'm pretty sure their frying mastery could make Paula Deen cry country-fried tears of joy, and that's saying something because she probably has crisco for blood. I have enjoyed their double-fried wings several times and they are amazingly simple comfort food that is well worth the price, provided you don't take them to-go, as they lose their characteristic crunch as they steam in the box. Their fried shrimp are wonderful, as well. Very nice batter, full of flavor and the shrimp do not get overcooked, nor are they presented in a pool of their own grease (cough...RHINEHARTS...but I'll get to THAT review later). The Fried Green Tomatoes/Pickles appetizer was ridiculously good and very difficult to stop munching. I have also tried one of their burgers; it was a generous portion of well-seasoned beef, cooked precisely as requested, no question. I am somewhat of a hamburger bun snob, as I feel it can make or break a burger experience. That said, while I don't particularly remember the details of theirs, I do know that I was not offended by a flimsy, dry or cheap-looking bun, and that's something to appreciate in this modern half-baked culinary climate. Maybe not a Michelin Star burger (if there is such a thing), but again, I emphasize, it's worth the price you pay. I have to admit I haven't tried their BBQ, although my wife may have, so I'll allow her to leave her own review if so. Despite being close to BBQ country, I'm not the biggest connoisseur, so I'll leave it to more qualified reviewers. The smell outside is incredible, though; a very good sign. Bottom line, it's a friendly, neighborhood bar and grill that is dependable, clean, and unpretentious. I encourage others to stop by and compare your notes to my own. I hope your experience proves to be the same as mine!

Friendly staff and decent food. The ribs fall off the bone!! The wings are decent as well. They are always running good lunch/dinner specials on food and drinks. The staff is friendly and helpful. Nice place to hang out to grab a drink and watch a game too.

I had lunch here with a friend. He had a BBQ plate with hash and rice and I had the loaded salad. The salad was good, but it's pretty hard to mess up a salad. So with that being said it was just a typical salad. Now onto the barbecue my friend said that it was a really small portion even for a lunch size portion and that the barbecue was very greasy. I trust his opinion because he loves barbecue and eats it at least two to three times a month. Not much left to say about the food really. It was just average nothing more and nothing less. The inside of the restaurant was very well-maintained it was very clean and the staff was very friendly and very helpful and kept our glasses full the entire time we were there and even offered us a to go glass as we were getting ready to leave. The prices are on the high side for the quality of the food that you are served, ranging from $8 for a burger to over $20 for a barbecue meal.

I have a hard time going above 3 stars on this one. Yes, some will criticize me on my choice of food but its what I like. I don't have to eat bar-b-que if I don't want it. Meal choice was 5 bar-b-que wings to start. They were cooked perfectly but I found the sauce to be a little on the vinegar side. I would have preferred them to be grilled after adding the sauce and not dunked in the sauce, and no, i did not ask to have them grilled after which is my fault. Then I ordered the "Big Daddy's Loaded Salad" While okay, nothing great. The salad looked as though it was premade and stuck in the ice box. The diced chicken was just that, no sauce or anything, just grilled chicken. The bartender was the best part of the night. She kept my beer flowing and was very cute and happy. I really enjoyed watching her. Would I go again? Yea, nothing made me not want to go again but if there were more choices in the area, I might reconsider.

This is my favorite BBQ place in augusta. The service is always polite. I have never had my order made incorrectly. I have probably eaten here about 6 to 8 times. I usually get the Choice BBQ Platter which comes with ribs, chicken, and pork. I add on two rolls so I can make sandwiches out of the chicken and pork that comes with the platter. The ribs here are really good, some days they are damn near perfect with a great bark on them. The baked beans are by far my favorite side. The best part about going here is the value. It isn't cheap, but you get plenty(honestly if you eat it all you are going to be uncomfortable) and it's really delicious. Buyers remorse is not included.

Really great service and awesome food. We came here on a Saturday night and were seated immediately, which again proves that the citizens of Augusta only ever eat at chains on the weekend. Anyway, the ribs, chicken and catfish were all amazing, and the sides were solid too. You can get fries covered in ranch, cheese and bacon! The interior is decorated with the various trophies the owner has won for barbecue. It's nothing fancy, but we will definitely be returning.

Burgers are really good, but the menu is overpriced for the product and the waitress (with maybe 1 or 2 exceptions) are just not very friendly.

A friend of ours, Ali, at Ruth's diner over heard me talking about the lack of BBQ in the area. She suggested I head over to Big Daddy's Bar and Grill. As a KCBS certified BBQ judge, I realize that competition BBQ will never be had at a restaurant...it is just too hard, as comp BBQ goes from grill to the judges tent within a matter of minutes. Ali said I should ask for Tarla. It turns out that she is the GM there and it was truly a pleasure to speak with her. I had the pulled pork, ribs and something that you rarely see on the comp circuit, pulled chicken. Absolutely delicious!! When biting into a rib a judge wants to see their bite mark in the rib with the rest of the meat staying on the bone, not completely falling all at once. Difficult to achieve in a restaurant. Big Daddy's...nailed it. I won't dwell on the chicken, however, if you do not try it on a trip there, you are missing a true masterpiece. How do I know that the BBQ was going to be good? Take a few minutes to read the plaques on the trophies. Big Daddy's BBQ team consistently place in the top five at BBQ competitions, including numerous Grand Champion awards and 1st place awards....in CHICKEN as well as pork. Let me share with you that many BBQ teams can only dream of placing that consistently. Big Daddy's seems to do it every time the enter. I also heard that they ended up in 4th place overall in the "point standings" for the entire year. What does this tell me or anyone else reading this? This is the place you want to go to eat BBQ meat. Others spoke of the sides they had...I can only say that I was there strictly for MEAT, not sides. When I do not feel like spending 15 hours smoking my own pork shoulder, it is nice to know that I can drive a few minutes and enjoy superb BBQ prepared by true masters.

Went for the first time yestaerday. The pulled pork sandwich was amazing. Excellent food. Nice, clean and quiet environment. Our waitress, Kimberly, was a delight. Helped us with suggestions on the menu. We will be back.

Friends who work locally said that they frequently use Big Daddys for catering. Our team is just visiting, and had to come back for more. The pulled pork is nice and tender.

It was a great location for lunch for a group. However, the consensus from my party was, although the food was good, it was also very salty. We all had different meals. I had the lemon pepper wings which were more like lemon salt wings. Also, the sweet tea was extremely sweet, even for the South. We had to mix it with water. Probably will not return here.

The food is pretty darn good. I ordered the BBQ Daddy Burger and it was very tasty and cooked to perfection. My beers were cold and served with a smile. I walked in hungry and thirsty but walked out with a full stomach and my thirst was quenched. I would return to Big Daddy's if I am ever in Augusta again.

  • Justin S.

Pulled pork was great, especially when drizzled in their sweet signature sauce. Their brisket baked beans were an interesting and tasty twist on your traditional baked beans side. Grilled corn on the cob was good as was their "holy grail" cole slaw. Their cornbread muffins are excellent. Mine came piping hot straight from the oven. They make them with whole pieces of corn inside them which is different. I only wish the muffins were larger. I'll definitely be returning and recommending to others. I'll have to try their hash next time to see what it's all about. Being a Carolina boy we don't do hash with our barbecue but I'm always down for trying new things. I talked with Big Daddy on the way out. He's a nice guy and I wish him all the best with keeping this place open and making great food. This place was formerly occupied by Amici's, an Italian restaurant. I hope Big Daddy sticks around longer than they did! We need more good barbecue joints like this in Augusta!

Great management and bartender! I had a drink while waiting for my pork plate to get ready!! Great atmosphere and food!!! The baked beans and macaroni n cheese are out of this world

  • Benjamin S.

Not a huge fan. Wasn't terrible but nothing that really makes me want to come back. Pros: servers were friendly in a very casual way. Vegetable kebabs were good. Mushrooms and onions were good. Cons. Green beans seemed like they from a can. BBQ chicken was unimpressive. My side of baked beans had about 15 beans total in a watery sauce with some jumbo fatty pieces of meat taking up all the space. Probably won't come back here.

Came here for lunch on a Saturday. Service was fairly good and attentive. The food was the only letdown, bland is the best word that I could use for it. Atmosphere was pretty nice with good classic rock on the speakers. I ordered pulled pork plate with slaw as a side. There was no sauce on the table and I had to ask for a small portion in a stainless serving portion with only one type of sauce. I'm from Tennessee and grew up on good bbq, this isn't it. Head down to Perry Foster's just down the road and get some good Memphis bbq.

Decent BBQ. Got the pulled pork plate, which was good with extra sauce. Service was great. Place was very clean.

I'm not sure what the heck the other reviewers are talking about but my experience here has been completely opposite of their experience. This are the best ribs in Augusta by far and the grill master here has won every state championship there is to win. Hints the first place win at our local Banjo-B-Que cook off here in Augusta. The meat literally falls off the bone. There was also a reviewer that was disappointed in portion size which is the most ridiculous thing I've read. You will understand after you visit. Wait staff has always been polite to me and I've had several great experiences watching the Dawgs games. A couple of downright amazing specials there including the corndog breaded in hush puppy batter and it's safe to say their pot roast is better than your Gramma's. I have had a ton I BBQ in my time from coast to coast and I know these dudes can hang with the best of them. You should seriously look past the other reviews and experience their ribs.

  • Heather F.

Ehh.. Not that good. They do not have any good sides to choose from. Every side is a starch. And their green beans are not what you would expect to eat with southern bbq. I also think that the BBQ sauce is nasty. It would be nice for the customers to have a variety of sauces to choose from. I am spoiled on Hudson's BBQ.. The best bbq in South Carolina. Big daddy's has the potential to turn things around... Revamp your menu. Offer a full array of country fixins like Mac & cheese, sweet potato fries, fried okra, country green beans , country mess o greens, hash brown casserole, squash casserole, sweet potato casserole. Mustard base bbq sauce, honey bbq, classic, ect.. One last thing... The prices are way too high for the small portions you get. The two times I went, I left still hungry.

  • Joseph S.

This place is amazing. Best fried green tomatoes and pickles I have ever had!!! The cowboy burger is equally amazing!!!!!! The portions are gigantic so be prepared for some doggy bags. The ribs and BBW sauce are some of the best around. You will not be disappointed

  • Charlotte B.

Service was good but the food was not as good as I heard. The French dip sandwich was lean and seasoned well but the bun was burnt on the edges and the au jus sauce had no flavor. The chips were greasy and cut too thick. They had no crispy flavor. The waitresses also talked very loudly and it was hard to concentrate on our conversation.

  • Lori V.

Today was my second time eating here, it was very good the first time, so we went back for Father's Day lunch. We were extremely disappointed from start to finish. The service was awful, we had to flag the waiter down for drink refills, more sauce, and the check. No matter how good the food was, when your bill is $62.00, you should also get outstanding service. Won't be going back.

  • Lewis M.

Been here twice now. Had a Shrimp Po Boy the first time and a Chicken BBQ Philly the second time. Good food. Good Coleslaw also which is one of the ways I judge a good BBQ spot. I gave 4 stars due to the small selection of beef on the menu. If you like pork then you will have no problems. Brisket on the other hand is another issue. I find Brisket is hard to come by in Georgia as it is.

  • David N.

So I came here because I had heard/read some great reviews about this place when they first opened.... boy was I disappointed. First of all: those "best ribs ever" were completely flavorless. The meat was very tender and moist, but once you got past the sauce on top, the meat was very very bland.... felt like I was eating unseasoned pot roast. The pulled pork and chicken were also bland. And worst of all, for being a BBQ place, they don't even have sauce on the tables for you or serve anything with bread unless you ordered a sandwich of some kind. They also charged $2 extra for substituting for Hash instead of cole slaw... and you only got about 4-5 mouthfuls of it. Not impressed whatsoever.... very tender/moist ribs, but ZERO FLAVOR on the meat.

Got the pulled pork BBQ sandwich with fries and cole slaw w/ a house salad. The sandwich comes on a toasted egg bun and was delicious! Fries and house salad were average. Staff is very friendly. Will eat here again when in the area.

I have had Big Daddy's 2 times over the past few months. Once I was treated to there catering having never heard or tasted Big Daddy's BBQ before and second by visiting the location. Being the BBQ snob that I am, I have always been partial to my tried and true local BBQ spot. Let me begin by saying that the overall feel of Big Daddy's restaurant is awesome. The staff is beyond friendly and helpful, the atmosphere is one that makes you feel comfortable and welcomed as soon as you enter. NOW as for the food, it is second to none! The BBQ I had when it was catered was a 10! I don't know how Big Daddy's can make BBQ better but they just did! And the sauce??? OOOHWEE... so bomb! I went in for lunch one day and ordered Big-Daddy-Belt-Buster Burger....this is a legit 1lb. burger folks... I did not leave hungry or willing to return to work. Def check this place out..... also, they always seem to have a killer drink special.

You Guys are crazy... I'm from Memphis the BBQ Mecca. This is the closest place to GOOD southern BBQ that I've had in the CSRA. I came hungry and left full. The waitstaff was great and accommodated our party. She actually remember the orders and the seating arrangement. SOOOO... Pay no attention to the bad remarks. I like the fact i can go with a date, watch or game or pull up a seat at the bar and feel at home. Greasy fingers and all

1 star is too nice if a rating, I would rather give this place a half or none at all. The people who work here are rude and don't know how to treat their customers with respect. They close at 10pm its not worth going to if you plan on staying there to watch a late night football game because they make people leave when 10pm hit.

    (1)
  • Jessica R.

Not sure what they are going for...casual dining, sports bar or BBQ joint? BBQ is straight from a Curlys BBQ frozen container. Skip this place and find another for BBQ.
