Newly renovated and OPEN. Aside from the pricing being a little on the high side, it's all good. Great bar selection and better food. A nice patio, decent service albeit very busy staff it's a solid place to grab a drink and above avg. food.

After a great day at the Dogwood Festival we decided to try this place on our way back to Marta. It was a Friday evening and we had our kids with us. The host made us feel extremely welcome, considering there were no other kids the whole time we were there. Although it took a couple minutes for the server to make it to us, the rest of the night was flawless: VERY STRONG margaritas, best tacos this side of Mexico and their beans were awesome. We will make a trip downtown just to go here again, guaranteed!

Overpriced food I got a steak tacos and not even full like a year ago this restaurant is getting worse everyday. My partner got chicken fajitas and barely had chicken only had six pieces of chicken for 16.95 this is ridiculous I feel like I got rip off no wonder this restaurant is empty during the week I work around this neighborhood is sad to see this restaurant go down in food and up in price.

New awakening of an old restaurant. Lovely atmosphere. Mediocre food. The prior restaurant was in need of a refresh. The lighting, colors and lack of baskets (they were strewn across the ceiling) is sophisticated and fits the midtown vibe. The food, however, has devolved. Prior, it was organic and fresh. Now, the mass produced Old El Paso seasoning and cheap ingredients leave a foul and unwelcome taste in your mouth. The famous & potent margaritas are now a generic and cheap mix that are also much less potent. Too bad. Not headed back...

Fabulous fresh guac and LOVE the Atlantarita. And phenomenal customer service - I ordered this drink, they're missing a key liqueur, I said my heart was set on it - and the manager went to buy the missing ingredient. Great weeknight and happy hour specials! (Wednesday $5 bottomless guac, thirsty Thursdays, $2 taco Tuesdays)

Made a reservation for 7:45 last night through Open Table. Arrived 5 minutes early and was told that the wait would be 45-50 minutes. I said I had a reservation and was told that Open Table does not guarantee a table will be available when you arrive. Really? I thought that was the point of making a reservation - to have a table. I thought I was in the Seinfeld episode where Jerry argues with the rental car clerk over what a reservation is. There were at least 4 empty tables and people were waiting everywhere to be seated. They had times of 7:45, 8:00, 8:15, 8:30 all available on OT. The person working the host stand was pretty rude and I will not return.

I stopped by a couple of weeks ago and sat out on the deck. It was a bit chilly so not very busy. The food was ok as was the service. Neither were great but I would stop by again if I want some Mexican food and if it's not too busy - which it usually is on weekends.

After doing the firefly run last night, me and my glittered out glow baby friends wanted to eat something. 5k completion gave us a perfect excuse to indulge our inner glutton. Zocalo was close, had patio and they were open with no wait. Actually, the relative deadness of the place maybe should have suggested not super yummy, but we were game to give it a try. FYI...don't expect to leave your wallet at home and have no id and expect to get drinks. My sweet friend Cindy didn't have her id and while we all look great, no one at our table could pass for under thirty...but they take carding very seriously. I suppose that's a good thing, but still. Duly noted. Service was sorta spotty. Two of us had food for about ten minutes before the other two got served. Not a plus. Waiter was uber slow with check and drink refills. Understandable when packed, not so much when not. (Granted, it was hard for him to navigate around middle aged drunk couple who were staging full on soft core porn style make out session in middle of patio. I think all of us diners were ready to chip in to get them a room: but I digress.) Manager did come to table to check on us, much appreciated, and service was friendly. Plus. Also, I thought I had a long hair in my food, but did confess that it may have come from my uber suave neon wig. I wasn't complaining, a fellow dining companion mentioned it, and the manager came back to report that it was indeed confirmed to be wig hair, he still comped the dish. Very kind and above and beyond since it was no fault of theirs. Esp nice since said dining companion also reported that her food sucked. (She was NOT a fan of the black bean cakes that came with her Diez Diez Diez appetizer!) Anywho...tableside guac was awesomely delish, molcajete was scraped clean! My barbacoa enchiladas were a wee bit salty, but tender and flavorful. Delish beans on the side. Rice...meh. Flavorless. Dry. Boo hiss for that. Liked the pickled veggies on top. Two other pals got fish tacos and based on silence from their corner of the table, they must've been tasty. Presentation was lovely and I was jealous of their generous avocado slices! I wouldn't rush back here...mostly because I'm a big fan of cheaper buford hwy Mexican dives, but this place had a lovely patio, friendly service and decent although not amazing food.

Come for the drinks, but eat elsewhere. Salsa has no flavor, food comes out cold, but servers and drinks are wonderful.

the hosts and some of the waiter are nice but the two spanish bartender are very rude. I ask one of them not to put my drink in a dirty glass and he got rude with me and told me its not dirty but I saw hairs in the glass... I will only go back if i sit at a table the waiters are usually ok...

It amazes me that this place has three stars and is still open. Putting the outrageous prices aside....this is by far one of the worst meals I have ever experience. I am all about cheap kinda crappy mexican but this place doesn't even come close to that. The food was practically indelible. Everyone talks about the margaritas but I found there was nothing special about theirs. Do not waste your time, meal, and especially your money. This place is DISGUSTING!!!

Our experience at Zocalo was above spectacular. My boyfriend and I were one of the first people through the door for lunch. Our server, Lauren, was very accommodating and patient in everything that she did. We couldn't decide on which entrees to order, including the multiple lunch specials. We ended up telling her to surprise us and order us an appetizer and two entrees. She did NOT disappoint. Holy moly. We had table side guacamole, which was incredibly fresh and a perfect size for two. My boyfriend had the pork tacos (topped with pineapple!), with black beans, rice, and a side of a sauce that paired so well with the meat. I had the shrimp enchilada, cilantro lime rice, and fried plantains. I have been dreaming about my shrimp enchilada all day. I want to go back for dinner and order it again. That's how good it is. I highly recommend checking this place out for dinner. If anything, I hear they have margarita day on Sunday's (don't quote me on that), but that seems like the most perfect combination. Thanks again Zocalo and Lauren. You've found a long time customer in me.

Wow, for the many times I've eaten and sipped on their margaritas here, I'm surprised I never reviewed the infamous Zocalo! A group of friends came joined me and my buddy Edward L. here after checking out the Dogwood Festival. We were craving 2 things. A cold glass of margarita and some salsa/chips. The place was packed as usual so we ended up at the bar. Luckily there were some unused bar stools that we nabbed and ended up staying the the whole evening. Our bartender made the BEST mango and strawberry/mango frozen margaritas. After sharing 2 pitchers with friends, I do not crave anything sweet or tequila for a very long time! Fantastic energy at this place and met some new friends while we were there. There's always a fun, laid back, casual vibe at Zocalo and everyone here is super friendly. Their outdoor patio area rocks and the food here is equally delicious. Always appreciated the presentation of their food and year after year, their menu items are consistent and classic. The next time you're in Midtown, passing through 10th street, be sure to stop by for a drink at the very least! You won't regret it and most likely come back for more!

Carpenter bees on the deck, expensive drinks, slow bartenders, and an overzealous crowd. This place is super busy and I presume its because of the location, which is great for people watching. If you are a heterosexual male like me, make sure you go with your lady or I would just avoid this place because these cats are aggressive. Go to Senor Patron where the food is better and the atmosphere is more laid back. Won't be back!

Had an amazing time! Loved the atmosphere, and our server Nikki was super bubbly and made our entire night! This was our first time and definitely won't be our last. Highly recommend the enchiladas, quesadillas, and will request Nikki to take care of us again!

Wow the margaritas here are strong! Phew. I had two and I was good for the night. There are coupons for one free margarita floating around too. The food here is pretty good. I've ordered the shrimp fajita and a few of the tacos. The tacos along with two sides were more than enough to fill me up. The fajita was enough for me to have a second meal in leftovers. Yelp also has a check in deal for free guacamole. The service here is just alright. The waiters are always friendly and helpful, but it often takes longer than expected to get your food. As far as parking goes, there's free parking along the street if you're lucky enough to find a spot and valet parking for the restaurant.

Awesome margaritas - awesome guac. Base expectations from a Mexican spot in Midtown. As a former Atlantan, I saw this place and never stopped in in the years I lived here. Huge mistake on my part to wait so long. Catching up with a friend, I stopped in on a Saturday for a frozen margarita and lunch fajitas. Of course, like any good meal one drink leads to two... and well, if I was younger, these would've definitely led to 3,4, etc. The guac has flavor to it - this is more rare than people might think. Just the right spice, cilantro, lime and other things to make is more than smashed avocado. And, it's made table side, so you know it's fresh. I was sorry to be leaving for home Sunday, so I couldn't quite do their $24 Bottomless Sunday Brunch (FOOD & DRINK!). This is an incredible deal Atlanta. In DC, Bottomless Brunch is $40. If I owned the place, I'd charge more as the margaritas and guac alone would get my money's worth!

  • Mike L.

For the price, I expected a little better. It's a casual TexMex spot with some great outdoor seating, and solid margaritas. The chips with the queso/chorizo cheese dip is pretty good. Lots of chorizo. The quesadillas were disappointing. Greasy and just no flavor...other than oil and grease. The presentation is pretty good though. Next time I'll try something different if I don't just stick to margarita's.

  • Raven T.

The three stars is for the alcohol and staff, I would have given the food two. If you want a flight of good tequila for the price of one shot, come here! The staff was was warm, welcoming, and accommodating. On the other hand, the food was just ok. I had al pastor tacos. While the ingredients were authentic and fresh the flavor just didn't come through. I noticed another person in my party adding salt and pepper to her enchiladas so it wasn't just my dish. Would I go back? I would do anything for tequila :)

Came here to satisfy a friend's need for a frozen margarita. I started with strawberry mojito and finished with a couple of fresatinis. The drinks were fantastic! I ordered the grilled chicken tacos with black beans and rice. Nothing extraordinary but all was good. I did like the presentation of the tacos and sides. I'm used to everything just laying there on the plate. Service - very good; food - good; drinks - outstanding; atmosphere - okay (it was winter and enclosed). I will definitely make a point to come back for drinks on the patio!

    (3)
  • Meggan N.

Really great place. The mojitos were really good. I had the mojitos with strawberry purée. Be careful, they will sneak up on you. I also tried the steak tacos, the only sad part was the empty feeling I had when they were gone. I will def. be back for more taco Tuesday experiences. Also, the waitress was kind enough to let us use our check in coupons for queso, instead of guacamole (considering me and my friend couldn't eat avocado). The staff was very accommodating ^_^

So overall i gave this place a 3 because although the food was reasonably priced and it was happy hour so that was a plus but service wise i think they could have done a little better the bartender/server was just ok nothing spectacular she didnt offer me much of anything when i told her i didn't want guacamole but another salsa would be fine until she finally suggested a burrito salsa which they use for their burritos. Margarita was pretty good enjoyed everything but i have to knock the 2 stars for the overall service it was also a bit cramped.

Omg! Randomly found this spot through Yelp and it was FANTASTIC! Let's start off with the short list, the cons. Didn't care for the salsa at all. Okay, now that that is over with, on to the good stuff, the pros! Service! We had Hailey, she was phenomenal! The scene, casual and open air, just awesome. Nothing pretentious. THE FOOD! We got a tableside guacamole, u must order this, nothing like guacamole made right there next to u. We also ordered the steak quesadilla which was seasoned to perfection, best quesadilla I've ever had. The other entree was the chicken burrito with cheese on top, also seasoned to perfection. It's massive tho but we are excited to have plenty of leftovers. We also ordered the Atlantarita for drinks and it was also perfection. I must say, we were beyond pleasantly surprised and will def come back as a new staple for good times and great food in Atlanta!

Two words: bottomless guacamole . This little spot is great and right in downtown Atlanta near a beautiful park. I heard of happy hour specials so I had to check it out. Sure enough , 5$ bottomless guacamole and they make it fresh in front of you every time. They also have a pretty decent drink special going on as well as 2$ tacos. They're tacos were decent, not to die for but good food. What I really wanted to touch on was the service. As soon as I got there, there was complimentary valet parking waiting on you. We were seated immediately and taken care of. Sometimes that's hard to come by.. Right away he had chips salsa and guacamole rolling out. He had our drinks ready right away and was checking on us readily since we were devouring all the guacamole as soon as it came out. Also if you use yelp, you can get a free side of guacamole if you aren't down for the bottomless life lol. Enjoy!!

The first impression was terrible: we had a party of 5 and needed a wheel chair accessible table. The hostess brought us to a 4 chair table, moved one of them and told us to squeeze. We asked her to move two tables together and she said she did not want to. Honestly, we were walking out. This was very upsetting to the whole party. As we were walking out the door, a man said he'd put the tables together. This was ridiculous and, in my opinion, discrimination. Now, to the positive: our waiter was awesome. Fast, polite, and helpful. The food was actually pretty good. I'm unsure if I'd come back because of the initial treatment.

  • James P.

Honestly, their food is nothing to scream about, but their frozen margaritas are game. I live right next door and love coming here for a drink or five out on their patio. The decor inside is kind of dark and depressing, so I recommend you sit outside on a sunny day.

I have been to Zocalo on a number of occasions, mainly because of the scoutmob. Guac is a must here, served in a lava stone and very tasty. However, freshness of their chips can vary substantially. On several occasions, the chips were extremely stale to the point of being inedible. After telling the waiter, they brought out another batch of chips exactly like the first. Yeah, that helped...

Warm greeting!! Waitress Nikki was awesome!! Mgmt was friendly and checked on us! Chips were fresh, Guac was fresh, CoronaRita was on point, and who doesn't love $2 Tacos! First time in Atl and first time at Zocalo..... Will definitely be back and definitely spread the word letting everyone to know to come here !! Thank you for the great dinner experience!!

Stumbled in here with two friends on the suggestion of our Uber driver after we were advised not to try Park Tavern during Jazz Fest (good call). And boy, am I glad he diverted us. While we did not get to try the food, we drank the margaritas, and they were both delicious and potent, maybe the best I've had in Atlanta. But what really stood out was the service at this place, which was quite possibly the best I've ever had anywhere. Not only was the staff here attentive, they made us all feel as if we were lifelong friends. It wasn't just our server Jamie, who was unbelievably friendly, but another server (a short-haired gal, don't believe we caught her name. I'm sorry!) was equally friendly and attentive to us, and even the manager checked up on and bantered with us a couple of times. We thought maybe it was because it was the end of the night, but the restaurant was still half full, and they must have all been drained from serving Jazz Fest patrons all day. I will definitely be coming back here and look forward to trying out the food. It's not often you're able to find service this good somewhere, and I hesitate to even call it "service" based on how welcome we felt.

We came here for happy hour after getting our nails done across the street. I recommended this place because on my first visit during a networking night, the place was busy, we enjoyed impeccable service and great food. Second visit here and sans the networking night, there's another story to be told. We were one of the few tables on the patio and so our server was very attentive and gave our table lots of attention. Not very hungry, I decided to order the Wednesday special: nachos for $4 plus chicken ($2.50). Honestly, for the food I received and for what I paid, it wasn't really a special at all--I felt pretty ripped off as my nachos arrived, hastily thrown together, somewhat cold, and definitely not delicious. I'm not a bargain diner, so if I had known what I know now, I would have definitely paid a few bucks more for a more enjoyable meal. Otherwise, my second experience wasn't terrible; I was just surprised at the quality between my experiences. Third try to average it out?

Got three tacos and a zocalo mango margarita. All were tasty and had a very good amount of flavor. Tacos were packed nicely and meat had great seasoning. Surprising to know that it was $13.95 for 3 tacos, beans, and rice. That's really high, so I'm docking a star. Ambience is an old style feel and open air, and they served my group nicely.

Zocalo is a wonderful place to hang out with friends! We had a wonderful server named Nikki who had spot on suggestions. The margaritas were the bomb.com and the bottomless guacamole were to die for! $2 taco Tuesday is definitely worth the drive to the city. In the words of the Terminator, "I'll be Back!"

Solid Mexican food within walking distance from my boyfriends condo. No wait, great outdoor seating, great house margaritas and the presentation of the food was awesome. Had cheese dip with chorizo which was extremely runny but still okay and Baja tacos with black rice and beans. All had good flavor, i even left my phone charger behind and called and they had it and let me know I could come get it. Great customer service!

Zocalo has a nice, festive atmosphere. It has a huge patio for outdoor seating but since it's winter, indoor seating it was. Dined here with two friends on a weekday evening. We ordered and shared our entrees. -Chicken Quesadilla -Steak Taco Entree (w/ beans and rice) -Tinga Taco Entree (w/ beans and rice) Everything was good. We passed on the margaritas although all the reviews seem to mention something about it. Service was exceptional thanks to our waiter, Patrick. Parking is only valet. We parked elsewhere and walked over. I also realized there was a ScoutMob for this place and put it to use! :)

  • Candice C.

Service was great! Waitress Nikki was very helpful in recommendations. Salsa with the adobo kick was different and refreshing. Not such a huge fan of Barbacoa enchiladas. Meat is a little dry. Husband LOVED his tacos! Rice and beans were some of the best I've ever had! I'm not usually a fan of frozen margaritas, but as Nikki suggested, they were delish!!!! Thanks so much! We will be back for sure.

As I've said before, I only come for the food. The service here is very below par, and after my last visit, I don't know if I'll be coming back. First, the waitress brought me the wrong tacos. That's okay, people make mistakes. But she got testy when I asked her to bring the right ones. Then when I did receive those, the amount of food in the taco was noticeably less than previous times I had gone. And she forgot half the sides that came with the taco. I saw SEVERAL cockroaches while I was there. Gross.

I haven't been to Zocalo in a couple years, so I gave it a try for drinks & some apps on the patio one Friday afternoon. No tables were available, so my friend and I went to the bar to get a drink. It was a joke. The bartender was serving a relatively good number of people, but nothing crazy. He was not courteous and unprofessional. At one point, he stopped making drinks to chug a Red Bull. When he finally did get to us, 10 minutes after standing there, he took our orders. Then he gave us 2 of the 3 drinks we ordered and made someone else's. After another 5 minutes, we finally got his attention again to get the other drink and close our tab. $26 before tip for a less than mediocre margarita, a beer, and a mixed drink. A table was available on the patio, so we grabbed it. The waitress looked disgusted that we already had drinks, but she took our order or guacamole. 15 minutes later we received the guac - it was tasty as was the smokey salsa. After ordering another round of drinks, our waitress was MIA for another 10-15 minutes. This is how the entire dining experience panned out, right until we paid our check. Overall, the food and drinks are over priced, the staff is not friendly, and I saw a guy bring the margarita mix out in a large bucket from the room out back - not appetizing. With so many other great restaurants around town, I'm sad to say that I don't think I'll be returning....

The place is really nice, I like the laid back atmosphere. The mango MoJito was totally legit! Our waitress was intelligent, attentive and very friendly...she was first class! Nicki I think her name was. Moving on, the food was fantastic! Everything we ordered was as excellent as we have ever had anywhere, especially the molé sauce, that was superb. All in all, it deserves a much better rating, although the valet parking thing was kinda of less than awesome, but it was fine and no problem.

  • Kimberly L.

Absolutely horrific! I went there for lunch with some friends. The service was slow, had to ask for silverware three times, and the appetizer was mediocre at best. The worst part, however, came after our main entrees were served. Brace yourselves... partly into the chicken quesadilla, saw a clear piece that appeared to be part of broken glass possibly? Opened up the quesadilla further and found an entire decayed tooth inside it!!! Seriously. This was by far the most disgusting thing I have ever witnessed. We called the management over immediately and while they were extremely accommodating, there is nothing anyone can say or do to erase that type of experience. Personally, I will never be a patron to this establishment again and would strongly advise others to avoid this place as well. Not to mention they should arrange for a health code inspection immediately. The fact that I had to post a 1-star rating to even post this review and relive this makes me sick to my stomach again.

I'm not gonna lie - when I laid eyes on this place, it looked a bit divey for my taste. My friend didn't care where we had lunch so we stayed. SO glad we did!! The food was wonderful. The service was a bit strange b/c he didn't seem to speak English but he was very sweet and smiled a lot so we gave him a pass. Overall, ambiance sucks (or maybe I just expect more) and the food was delish, so will return if I am in the area craving Mexican.

Truly the best margaritas. Not only Atlanta. I think they're the best margaritas in the country. Their frozen margaritas are amazeballs. I don't know how they do it. Rumor has it the secret recipe involves Golden Grain or some derivative. Historically, my body has had an adverse reaction to consuming grain alcohol. Here's the difference - this is no hunch punch. Every Sunday their patio is packed and sometimes the crowd spills out into the parking lot. Technically, their entire dining room is a patio, but I think you know what I mean. They host special events here all the time, so if there's not something going on in Midtown (like Atlanta Pride or the Peachtree Road Race) you might be able to stumble across a fun party here... and they're usually for charity. Yay!

You would think after years of packed Sunday Funday customers a light bulb would light up over the staffs heads "if we have more help behind the bar, we could make more money" unfortunately they haven't seen the light or just don't give a s#%^. Waiting 10 to15 minutes for an $8.00 margarita made from mix and Everclear? Too many other places With better margaritas, service and value.

Not much I can add to what's already been posted. Was going to rate it a 2 star based on the food but maybe that's because I prefer Tex-Mex (this was similar to what I've had in Mexico City). Waiter was good but too busy. Charged us for an extra soft drink but for $2.25, I was not going to wait another 15 minutes for a new check. Valet parking is a nice touch -- especially given Midtown congestion. Heavily gay scene in the bar but they kept to themselves (in case you're homophobic) -- unlike the bachelorette party that was going on next to us.

The hubby and I were in on a Monday night. So, it was a laid-back quiet vibe with plenty of great customer service and staff interaction. The GM, Robert, spent time with us telling us about the recent remodeling of the property as well as menu updates. He was quite fabulous. I think I'm in love with him. (lol) I ordered the grilled chicken fajitas. My hubby had the chicken mole pablano. We were both totally satisfied with our meals. And I have to give a special note to the valet. He was great and by the time we were walking out of the restaurant, he was already pulling our Jeep to the front door. (Ah, the benefits of going on a slow night.) We will definitely return.

Excellent atmosphere!!! It was cozy and comfortable. The staff was incredibly friendly and the frozen margaritas were the best I've ever had! The table side guacamole is a must have! Our group had chicken tinga tacos, marinated steak, and chile rellenos. All were so flavorful and delicious! I highly recommend this place, we will be returning! Did I mention the frozen margaritas and table side guacamole are THE BEST?!

No reason why this place shouldn't get five stars. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted and seated quickly. There was two of us, out for a girls day lunch. So it was really comforting that we could sit outside in the sun and enjoy. Our waiter was Patrick. And I must say, he was F-ing awesome! We ordered tableside guacamole, and it was so amazing. Not to mention, I'm obsessed with guacamole. But now this just made my addiction even worse! They mix it right there at your table so you can see all the ingredients that are in it, and it was so fresh and so tasty. FYI, if you check in to this location on yelp, you get a free tableside guacamole - so hurry up and get it! I ordered the frozen margarita, because Patrick said there was more alcohol in it :-) and my friend ordered a mix of margarita and sangria. The margarita sangria is not on the menu, but Patrick made sure to bring it out just how she liked it, I tasted it, and it was perfect. There was a couple other people on the patio with us, and they seem to be enjoying themselves just as much. Patrick came and checked on us a number of times, always filled up our water glasses, and always cleared away anything extra on the table. I was very pleased with his service, the atmosphere, the food selection as well as the drink selection. I had a steak taco, and an enchilada. Both items were extremely filling and extremely tasty. The prices of the food or understandable for good Mexican food, but I think they were overpriced just a tad. Maybe a dollar or two less, would've been more reasonable. But I'm not going to let them lose a star for that, because overall I had a great time, the service was great, and I will go back again. But this time here was my first time going, but not my friends; she's a regular. So I'm glad she got me to go, and I will be returning very soon! As a matter of fact, I'll be returning tomorrow! Thank you so much again Patrick, I'll be asking for you next time I'm there.

Great, fun place! I came here to escape the train at the jazz festival and was pleasantly greeted with good food, good service and a wonderful atmosphere. My only tip is vegans beware, this is not a veggie friendly place. The only veggie options come with cheese.

I loved it. I mean really. A little pricey, but the Baja tacos were fresh. By this I mean the avocados on the tacos were VERY FRESH, which is the only way to eat them in my opinion! Had a pepino mojito. Was good, but had so much in it that it was difficult to drink it (but by placing the straw strategically, I was able to finish(; ). They also had a corn side that is only served until I think 7, but had cheese and I think mayo coating. Doesn't sound appetizing, but is delicious. Be adventurous! Limited menu, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Horrible experience tonight. Just found out that they have new owners. Had the Arrachera... Use to be the signature dish but they have changed it. (Smaller portion and no where close to what it was before). Very poor service, watered down margaritas, expensive... We won't be back.

There is free valet up front for easy parking. Service was superb! Our server was very personable and had great menu suggestions for us. The drinks are a bit on the strong side, but made well and delicious. I'm only giving this restaurant three out of five stars though because I haven't eaten anything on their menu that makes me crave to come back to.

Place is sucking wind. Odd set up for serving. No draft beer; warm bottled beer. Lukewarm food in small portions. Location a plus; parking a minus. Not a win. One and done.

Free valet parking- great customer service. Brunch special Saturday-Sunday 11-3 $30 for a bottomless brunch. Includes all lunch menu and unlimited drinks. The drinks are bloody Mary's, mimosa, margarita and one other drink I can't remember. They also have daily different specials, that ambiance is a family friendly place. But you can also go and Garba drink and chit chat with your girlfriends.

Out of the two apps and the Baja tacos I ordered, only the beer was worth ingesting. The ceviche was ok, but the fundido app was no bueno. My Baja tacos were also better left in the kitchen. Hell, even the salsa was bland. Our server was nice and attentive, so there is that.

Great atmosphere. Open deck like feel whether seated inside or outside. I had their Tres leches dessert. Awesome. And mojitos were very good too. Very fresh. They make guacamole at your table. Everything seemed to be made with fresh good quality ingredients. And yet reasonably priced. Best Mexican restaurant I have been to. I would definitely like to go back. Oh and spotless bathrooms. And free valet parking! You can't beat that in Atl.

I've been to Zocalo multiple times going as far back as 2009 when my then boyfriend and now husband moved to Midtown. I LOVE their cream of poblano soup. It's one of the most delicious things I've ever eaten. It looks like swamp water because it's a very bright green, but it's sooooo good. It tastes even better if you get the chicken tinga in it. The little bits of sweet corn and cubes of soft cheese perfectly offset the salty soup. Their guacamole is delicious, and they make it in front of you. My husband and I started going here because it was within walking distance, and we wanted to drink margaritas and not worry about getting home. We got a margarita pitcher to share (can't remember which one, but it was a traditional margarita and not a different fruit). It was $30+, but it was delicious, and was super strong. We were both pretty hammered when we were done. I've also had the chile relleno before (I love peppers), and it was also really good, but I prefer a little more cheese in mine. Every time we've been, we've had excellent service. You also can't beat the patio for people watching in nice weather. With all of that said, I've read some disturbing reviews on here that I can't refute, but I've never experienced them (except for occasional stale batches of chips). I will say that the food outside of what I've mentioned is good, but nothing to write home about. If you go to Zocalo because you want to sit on a nice patio in Midtown, drink strong margaritas, eat fresh guacamole, and eat the best poblano soup in the world, this is a 5 star worthy restaurant. If you're looking for something else, it's still good, but not amazing.

Our server Ron was excellent, and the food was incredible. I've eaten some of the best Mexican food around the world, and they know how to do Mexican at Zocalo.

I had the chicken mole to eat, a margarita (or two) to drink, and I was thrilled with the taste of the food and drinks, the atmosphere and ambience of the restaurant, and the quality of the service. I will be back again to visit and to try something new. Great spot!

This place was so good we ate here twice in a twelve hour period on our weekend in Atlanta. The food is excellent- I had the cheese enchiladas for dinner and then had chilaquiles, mexican waffles, and ceviche for brunch (knocked back with their excellent assortment of mimosas, bloody marias, and margaritas. My table-mates and I were extremely pleased with the quality of the food, but even more the kindness of the staff. Their devotion to good service really shone through. Our server even handcrafted a deliciously spicy salsa when my husband requested something hotter than the also delcious mole like salsa that comes standard to the table. Definitely recommend hitting this place up if you're near midtown Atlanta! The bottomless brunch is an excellent deal but be aware that you can't drink alcohol until 1230pm on Sunday.

From what I understand, the margaritas here are the real selling point. If you're drinking, fine - however, I wouldn't make a point of eating here, as you'll find better food and better value in the area, especially for brunch. If you're set on an endless brunch, remember that at Zocalo, your whole table has to do the endless deal. It'll run each of you around $30. We didn't order the endless option - we chose to go a la carte. However, the endless brunch comes with an option for guacamole, which is pretty good. Chips were fresh and pretty tasty, as well. The rest of the meal, however, didn't pass muster. The mollete I got here was paltry - eggs and chorizo were dry, the bread a little too chewy and the "salad" (more like a garnish, than anything) contained lettuce that had started to wilt and turn brown. I was rather taken aback at the difference in serving sizes and overall quality of the food - my partner's dish was decent and was worth what we paid. Service was slow and a little unfriendly and the overall atmosphere wasn't that stimulating or inviting. The intersection of 10th and Piedmont is fickle - restaurants have come and gone here for years. I'm glad that Zocalo has been able to sustain itself all this time, but I do think that the food here will need more consistency and quality for it to compete with the other restaurants in the area.

For the love of God, fire the bartenders. Every Sunday folks line up for the rot gut grain tequila frozen margaritas of death (yes, you are drunk half way through finishing the first drink, and do not drink two or you'll be too drunk to drive home). Every nice warm Sunday in the spring or Fall the bar is packed and yesterday it took 30 minutes to get a drink and it's a free for all experience, with only two very lazy bartenders (a waitress confirmed that they are lazy). And the food is pretty much meh. Hire more bartenders or at least get frozen drinks setup on the patio. The bar area is a fiasco. This a no brainer and they could make WAY more money if they just got their act together with basic restaurant processes.

We have our favorite Mexican place in Midtown, but Zocalo finally offered a Scoutmob, so we tried it out. Late afternoon, so the staff outnumbered the guests. Fine with us. Server was friendly and helpful and the music was low. I've read reviews that this place can get very crowded & loud, but we had the whole joint to ourselves. Food: Chips are thick & salty and the salsa is very good: beany and spicy. I had the house sliders, which is a variety of BBQ, pulled pork, and chicken with good fries. My chick had the chicken fajitas. You know how some places bring the fajitas to the table still popping and sizzling? Didn't happen here. Still, both meals were very good. We didn't have any of their signature booze drinks, just tea. Overall, Zocalo didn't blow our minds, but the food was fine, and with the Scoutmob discount, the price was right. To be honest, we're loyal to another Mexican spot in Midtown, one that's less pricey and less scene-y, but we don't regret giving Zocalo a try.

It has lost all its personality. It used to be laid back and now it feels like mi coccina. If I want mi coccina, I go to mi coccina...I'm not even talking about the steep price increase. The new zocalo or how to lose your customer base. Business 101 for the new owner? You can go to Gatech or ga state or emory, get fresh ideas bout how to diversify and start over.

The food was great and the portions were quite large. Everyone I went with enjoyed what they ordered. The best part was the atmosphere. It was the perfect place to be to have a good, quite time. I will definitely be going back.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
