First of all..... I think it may be a sin to live in or anywhere near Atlanta or even visit and NOT go to a Waffle House. With that being said, I used to frequent this one in between train rides from five points and classes while a student at GSU nearby. But recently they began to impose an extra 20% sales tax. So I stopped. I don't want to pay for the food, tax, tip and double tax. No. By that time, I might as well go somewhere else. But the food is good, I always have great service and it's clean....well as clean as a Waffle House can get. Just not down with the extra money.

Ghetto, Ghetto. Ghetto. Sat there for the longest, no one greeted me, then stood there for the longest no one took my order. One of the girls were trying to ignore me. When I first walked in I had 40 min to get to work. When I finally walked out I had less then 15 to get to work. They are ratchet, unprofessional, and most of the tables were gross and dirty. They should ashamed. Absolutely NO customer service. Won't be coming back because usually I would've exploded but was trying to have a good day. Ignorant.

Let me just start by saying, forget what you have heard. The Waffle House has fallen off! We stopped in this location in Atlanta, GA as our first stop after getting off the plane & checking into our hotel. Many people recommended this place & I am familiar with it as my parents are from NOLA. However, this place was a huge disappointment except for the price. Both of our meals came with grits, which were cold. The sweet tea was ok but not the best I have had in the South & the service was mediocre. I don't know if our waitress was new or tired but she kept forgetting things we needed, like utensils, a straw, syrup, etc. My husband are almost his entire meal before she remembered that we had asked for syrup for his waffle. All in all, I would never go back to the Waffle House & I would never recommend it to anyone.

They were so busy socializing with one another that they left out half of my order that i paid for. They bagged it up & told me to have a nice day without making sure everything was in it

Dear Baby Jesus and Adult Jesus thank you for getting me out of here alive. When I tell you I will NEVER return to this location, I mean it. So we were staying nearby and after a night of drinking we were HONGREE, yes HONGREE (with a O and 2 E's). So we decided to try the Waffle House. Its true.....you don't always make the best decisions after drinking. So, we enter and sit at the counter. Immediately the cook says "We outta meat". WTF! How the hell are you out of ALL meat and everything you sell involves meat. Again, we were drunk and HONGREE somehow we stayed. Well, there were hobos and gangsters in the Waffle House and 2 cops. But the cops were completely ignoring the obvious drug talk and overall indecent behavior. I was so scared. I put on my shades. My shades protect me, at least when I'm intoxicated. I have no idea what I ate because I was so nervous I couldn't concentrate on anything but making it out alive. After we made it safely to the car we all screamed "OMG we are never going back there". RUNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!

Every time I go to the US, I try to eat at least one American breakfast, which for me includes waffles with maple syrup. (I know, that's not exactly what an American breakfast is. Anyway,) I went today to this Waffle House. I really didn't like the neighborhood, but the waitress was very nice and the waffles were great. The poached eggs and the coffee (this one certainty American, says the snob European voice) were sub-par. All in all, if it was a better neighborhood I'd go again.

My wife and we're traveling in the Atlanta area from Chicago. The hotel next door serves breakfast, but was over due to we got up too late. So we went to this little Waffle House. Sat down at the stool counter and waitress nickname the queen helped us right away. Prices were very good and food was prepared fast and hot. Everyone including the customers seemed to know each other which added to the atmosphere of being friendly and the conversation seemed to circle the room. It was very pleasant. Price with tip was $20.

There are three major things that come to mind when I rate restaurants: the cleanliness, the environment and of course the food. Do you know the expression two out of three ain't bad? Well in this case, two out of three ain't good. First the positive: If I had to rate this store strictly from how good the food was, I'd rate it a four. The food is everything I'd want and then some, especially the chicken melt sandwiches. The employees are polite, friendly and always attentive to the customers' requests. This part of the overall experience is all positive. But then comes the negative. This Waffle House is located in downtown Atlanta, across from the Five Points Transit Station and right above Underground Atlanta. Though i'm used to the sketchy areas of inner-city Atlanta, the environment here seems more like a tavern on the rough side of town than a Waffle House. It's one of those places where people downtown with nothing else to do or anywhere else to go....just....hang....around. Many of them order just enough so they can fit the description of a customer. I've visitied here in the morning, rush hour after work, and even late at night and it's always the same. And since Atlanta really doesn't offer a whole lot when it comes to 24 hour entertainment, sometimes people are here just because it's the only thing open all night. On a typical visit, you can expect to sit cheek to jowl in this very small restaurant with "homeless" panhandlers, thugs, and country ghetto types. A "what's-yours-is-mine" aura permeates the air like a fog. Pull out your wallet: all eyes are on it like it was a bottle of Patron. Vagrants sometimes will beg you for money and attempt to make you feel guilty if you say no, staring with forlorn looks as you receive your piping hot meal. There is usually one poor security guy there who appears to be an off duty APD cop with a sheepish grin on his face who just wants to get through his shift without any trouble. Don't expect him to enforce a no loitering policy. It's best to have some idea about the cost of your plate before you arrive there and keep your money in a separate pocket so strangers won't know where you keep you wallet. The restaurant itself appears to be clean behind the counter where they prepare the food but the cramped dining area where the customers sit is grimy and needs a good mopping over. I've never been to the restroom here but I can only imagine what it must be like in comparison. I want to stress that I've never had a problem with the employees here. No matter how crowded it is, they work as hard as humanly possible to ensure that you get a well-cooked, deliciious meal in a timely manner. But it's best to order that meal for takeout.

So... after looking for a breakfast spot that wasnt full we ended up here. Staff is nice but the place is dirty, smelled like pee. I have no words... just dont go.

Its what you would expect from a Waffle House at Underground. "Homeless" folks nursing a cup of coffee for hours, and that smell of ewwww..... I tell you, I havent been gone from there 20 minutes and my throat hurts. I told my daughter when I walked in, it smells in here. Like someone might have pissed on the ground here years ago, and the smell still lingers. Who knows, maybe I've been in Atlanta too long and just cant appreicate the lure of a Waffle House at Underground. It is the smallest Waffle House I've ever been to. Well, the service was slow, we had to request silverware twice, and even when we got it, it still seemed like we needed a glass of hot water to soak it in. After ordering, the waitress bought the food and I told her that my order was wrong...I ordered hashbrowns with onions, peppers and mushrooms. The first time she bought them with just onions. When she finally bought them back it was as if the cook had just throwed the peppers and mushrooms on the grill and then throwed them on the plate, casue the hash browns were COLD and the peppers and mushrooms were still hot. My cousin ordered the All American with sausage, hashbrowns, and waffle, the waffle was COLD...the butter wouldnt even melt and she too thought her silverware was in need of a hot water bath. When she asked for the sugar free syrup, you would have thought she asked the waitress if the moon landing was for tonight, she had no clue. The porkchops and sausage patties were small, but the last time I went to a Waffle House the chicken breast had gotten so small that they were giving you two....to make the size of one....so imagine the size of the sausage and pork chops. Bathroom could have used cleaning and the "records" being played on the jukebox were skipping So not intrested in returning

There's nothing to do in Atlanta at night! Our group wanted to eat at Landmark Cafe (this 24-hr cafe), but since we knew it had two stars on Yelp, we four people decided to ditch after being served water and find what else was open. We ended up at Waffle House near Underground Atlanta since we were really craving waffles. We sat down and were served with some good Southern hospitality. We ordered four different types of waffles (blueberry, chocolate, apple cinnamon, strawberry) and they were all really good, and of a good portion as well! I ordered the Texas bacon melted cheesesteak sandwich and it was pretty good, it wasn't too cheesy and the meat was satisfying; the bread was toasted but not too crispy as to scrape the top of my mouth. Overall, it was a pretty good deal, it only cost me $8 w/ tip and tax. Definitely one of the better places to eat late, since there's no food open in Atlanta!!!!! OPEN 24 HRS.

Even though my stomach hurts, I am pleased with this Waffle House experience, mostly for the Waffle House theme songs that played while I ate my eggs: "It's Waffle House Time" and (my favorite) "I'm Going Back (Back!) to the Waffle House." My fiance and I perfected this duet during the drive back home and have it prepared for our next trip to Southern Comfort. This Waffle House location also offers more technologically advanced amenities than other WaHos. The restroom door said "Vacant" like a Porta Potty, so I kicked it in an effort to get in. "Just a minute ma'am!!!" a woman screamed from the kitchen. She flipped a switch from under the counter to unlock the door. Even more impressive is the flatware cleaning technique. Upon greeting us, the waitress set a steaming mug of water on our table with our silverware facing downward. During that time, several pieces of food fell off the handles and tongs. I'm going back -- BACK! -- to the Waffle House!

Ish. Granted, I'm not one of those people who upon seeing a Waffle House says "Oooh. A Waffle House." And I don't gross out easily. Despite a super friendly staff, this place needs a good scrubbing. Floors, walls, counter tops. Removal of hair attached to said surfaces. Walked out smelling like lard. I'd rather have Cheerios at home.

Stopped in here a couple of times when it was brand new, and I needed a quick meal and cup of joe before my night class at GSU. First, I'm glad that WH took the risk to refurbish the space. This WH is probably the finest dining establishment at underground. I did once get an omelet where they used way too much of that buttery crisco stuff (probably a 1:1 ratio of egg to that buttery crisco). Tell them to hold the buttery crisco, because sometimes the employee will slop it all over everything. It was your basic WH grub, you know what you are getting.

I normally wouldn't take the time to review a Waffle House, but this particular one really stood out to me. First off, I was starving and was reluctant about eating here. However, I was really pleased. The service was great. I walked in the door and was greeted with hello's and smiles that appear genuine. I'm far from a Waffle House aficionado, but this one is different from the few I've been to. I'm assuming its fairly new because it's very clean (Besides food, cleanliness one of the main reasons why I don't really eat at fast food spots). They must have remodeled it because they had flat screen TV, a modern day jukebox, and clean chairs and counters. The staff is great! Everyone is attentive and treat customers as if they're celebrities. I felt the camaraderie between the employees. They were talking and joking with one another, it just had a positive vibe to it. No complaints about the food, it was on point. I left feeling better. Who would have figured?!?!

After having multiple positive experiences at this Waffle House; last night ruined everything! Started off normal. Easy street parking. Open booth to sit at. Placed our order in a timely manner with our Server.... BUT then the most crazy cracked-out homeless people started making their appearances & disrupting our meal. One pulled up a chair & stared at us as soon as we got our food. After ignoring him, he SAT at the booth with a couple behind us. Asking for money or a meal. They weren't compliant & he just got louder. Eventually (like after 5 minutes) their Server stepped-up, gave the bum a dollar and he left. Within 2 minutes another one came in screaming. He started bugging that same couple & instead of making him leave, one of the Servers called him by name & fist bumped with him. He left that couple (who were very creeped out at this point) alone but proceeded to stand behind me starring at me & my food (not buying a thing). He made my husband VERY edgy. We ended up cutting our meal short, leaving a $20 on the table (way more than we owed) and getting the hell out of dodge. We live down the street; so it's not like we're not accustom to the homeless. However there are rights private establishments have when it comes to service & expectations customers have while spending money at such establishments. If this Waffle House isn't going to invest in security, they at the very least need to invest in a night manager with balls. What made the experience the most awkward was that most of the employees wouldn't even take notice of the disruptive men & only after getting complaints would they take action; when there was obvious need for action immediately. LIke if they didn't acknowledge what was going on; that it wasn't happening. That's just bad business & as much as I love late-night Waffle House & love having one down the street... I won't be back...

  • Waffle House is a chain fast food restaurant found throughout the south. They are all open 24 hours, 7 days a week and specialise in breakfast, although they also have grilled cheese and other sandwiches and hamburgers. Surprisingly, their coffee is not that bad. Classic waffle house breakfasts include the old standard eggs as you like them, with grits, bacon and biscuits, or steak and eggs, with either grits or hashbrowns and of course, waffles, plain or pecan or strawberry.

Regardless of what the website claims, this location is actually around the corner on Alabama St SW, about two stores down along the outer part of Underground Atlanta. The above address is the official one though, so that's what I'm going with. For anyone who's been to a Waffle House, you might be wondering why I'm giving 4 stars. This particular chain of diners isn't very clean or very spacious, and I was not very impressed with it's namesake food item. What WAS worth the trip, however, was the outstanding service I got. The young waitress (couldn't have been 18 yet) was probably one of the best I have ever had. I walked in trying very hard not to look like the tourist I was (hard to do when you are the only white person for a mile, carrying a large camera no less...), and the girl immediately greeted me with a smile and sat me down at the front counter, commenting on how nice my camera was while pouring my coffee and taking my order. The place was absolutely packed, but she still managed to check up on me every few minutes to refill my coffee or ask if I needed anything else. This is service at its best, folks. As for the food, it was slightly above-average diner fair, although the hash browns were perfectly toasted and salted. The eggs, bacon, and toast were all tasty as well. I was not expecting the small, flat thing I got that they called a waffle, though, I guess I've become too accustomed to my enormous Belgian waffles. I guess you'd call this an American waffle (so says Wikipedia), but it wasn't terribly good either way.

This is one of the best Waffle Houses I've ever been to. The wait staff is really nice considering the crap the probably put up with at this location. I've eaten at some spectacularly bad WaHos and every time I go to this one I'm pleasantly surprised at how good it is.

This is the perfect place to go if you are looking for a quick breakfast. And, it is perfectly within walking distance from so many other places at or near Underground Atlanta.
