I love getting off work and heading down to the Melting Pot for a drink and cheese fondue. I love the Whiskey Thistle cocktail that they just added to the menu. It's delightfully sweet with a twist on my favorite whiskey, Jameson. It makes for the best combination. I often add a premium dipper plate to my meal because their selected meats are great and I absolutely love the little red pepper things they add to the plate and the mini pickles. My waitress had colorful hair, it was really dark so I'm not sure if it was blue or purple but she was delightful and very attentive. I cannot for the life of me remember her name but she was just so so nice. The host at the front was sweet too. I love this place for a quick bite to eat, you may not think it when your server is literally making cheese in front of you but if you don't linger and eat your food really slow you can be out in less than an hour. However, if you're cheap and have a hard time comprehending why their prices are so high, just take a look at how hard your server is working for you. If even then you still think the prices are too high then stay in and make a meal at home. Don't take it out on the servers who are carrying at least 25-30 pounds on their trays trying their hardest to make your experience worthwhile. Tip your servers, they work hard for you.

My family had dinner here this past Thursday for my daughter's 13th birthday. We made the reservation several weeks ago. Our server Levi was AMAZING! By far one of the best servers I have experienced. His suggestions from drinks to try to chocolate for dessert were perfect! He is very attentive and personable. A few days before we were trying to find a way to make the dinner special. We came across the celebration packages on their website. Decided to get my daughter the balloon package for $19.99. Called and had it added on. My daughter was very excited when we arrived at our table and the balloons, a bear, and chocolate wafers were waiting on her. I did realize the next day that the souvenir photo advertised was not taken or given to us. Luckily I had a camera with us to take pictures of her. After dinner you can tell the server or hostess that you are ready to leave. They will call the valet and have them get your car ready. Overall, I like Melting Pot, but at times the cooking of my own food can become a bit annoying. I also wish more vegetable options came with the meat. The staff here really made my daughter's 13th birthday special!

Came here for a friend's birthday dinner and sat with 8 other people. I didn't care for their food but enjoyed the cheese and chocolate fondues. I didn't like the food because I ordered the French Quarter and they just destroyed the dish with Cajun seasoning. I don't use salt when I cook and I could feel my blood pressure rising! Also, I'm kinda grossed out now because I had shrimp and someone wrote a review that they didn't devein their shrimp *gags* no wonder it tasted so weird!? The bill was $100 between my fiancé and I, not worth it. Our waitress had personality but he became a bit TOO comfortable with my group. I would go to another location for the cheese and chocolate fondues. Parking in that area is highly annoying but it wasn't a problem the day and time we went.

We went here for dessert while visiting the area a few months ago and were disappointed with the service. Our server made a mistake with our order and as a result, we were charged incorrectly. When we brought this to the attention of the manager, he made a snarky remark and acted like he was doing us a favor. We have dined at a Melting Pot in a different state before and received excellent service, sowe were disappointed not to receive southern hospitality. We contacted the corporate office shortly after and have yet to hear back.

Been wanting to try the fondue experience and Restaurant week was the perfect excuse! We got the $25 menu and that was plenty. The cheddar cheese bowl was nothing earth shattering but it was delicious and I could eat 10 bowls of it cause its melted cheese... who doesn't love this? The bouillon cooking was the same... no amazing flavors I've never had or anything but delicious and very fun experience. The teriyaki marinade on the sirloin was very tasty and the dipping sauces were so so so so good. When you get the plate of the 3 meats, you think, "that's it?" but we were surprisingly full enough to be happy after this. But then... BUT THEN... the dessert plate. This is what I will be back for folks... Oh. MY. GAWD. We did White chocolate fondue.... and the plate included strawberries, pound cake, brownies (best thing I've ever eaten), blondies, rice krispie treats, bananas, and marshmellow peep-type things.... The dessert fully set this experience apart and I will back with friends to do this course! All in all, the $25 menu is normally about $40 bucks. I'm not quite sure the food part is worth $40 but the experience is and that dessert plate is worth every single penny they'll charge. Take a date or go with your friends for dessert!!

First time dining here, came for Father's Day. I thought they had good customer service and the food was good but the deserts are amazing!!!

I went here with a friend for midtown restaurant week. I don't think I would come back again unless they were running a deal. The service was very good, nice ambiance (although pretty corny music), but the food was fairly mediocre. We went with the $25 pre-set meal. We chose the cheddar fondue appetizer (made with a Keystone beer base... high class!), which was meh. I would have preferred a much sharper cheddar, the one we got was pretty lacking in flavor. The entree was chicken, shrimp, and beef to be cooked in a hot liquid. My friend called it "hot pot for non-Asians", which is pretty spot on. I was disappointed. They gave us 5 different sauces-- the gorgonzola was my favorite, the rest were pretty below average. For dessert we had the classic/original which was milk chocolate and peanut butter with a plate of different things. This was yummy, although very sweet things to get put inside (brownies, blondies, cheesecake bites, bananas, strawberries, marshmallows), which made the dessert super duper sweet. I would have chose some granny smith apples to pull in some tart flavors, too.

Asst. Manager James Harris was very accommodating, knowledgeable and helpful. Julia was an excellent server. The food and beverages were awesome. We had a fabulous experience. This location is close to the Fox Theater. We will make it a date to dine here first before a performance. If you are looking for an experience that you won't find anywhere else, this is the place. Try it, you will never forget the experience and want to come back.

I had never been here before and openly told this to our server, who was more than happy to explain how everything worked. He was very friendly and helpful and gave us great recommendations. We were seated right away on a Friday evening. We ordered the cheddar cheese fondue to start, and it was really great. The garlic and horseradish really adds a kick. It was served with slices of baguette and assorted vegetables, all of which were good. For an entree, I ordered the standard land & sea plate, while my SO got the cajun plate. This was sauteed in the mushroom wine sauce. We both agreed the filet was the best. So tender and flavorful. The chicken and shrimp were both solid, the sausage was fatty and had a weird texture. The dipping sauces on the side were phenomenal- overall the filet with green goddess dressing was my favorite combo. We ordered the chocolate peanut butter fondue for dessert. This was served with rice crispies, brownies, toasted marshmellows, fruit, and more. The marshmellows + chocolate fondue? OMG, amazeballs. Our check came to almost $100 which is pretty standard for fondue. Overall, this was a solid 4 star meal perfect for special occasions and with medium-sized groups. You will not leave hungry!

My mom and I went last night at 5pm before our 7:30 show at the Fox. I cannot remember our waiter's name but he did a fantastic job. I made a reservation the night before and we walked in and were seated immediately and were done with an hour to spare. We ordered the alpine, Italian meats, filet mignon and dark chocolate to finish. Everything was incredible. I was surprised by the background music but it wasn't bad. We were starving after not eating all day and left extremely satisfied. We'll definitely be back. Portions are small in my opinion but it turned out to be the perfect amount and the bill was less than I anticipated. We regularly cook fondue at home but this was a nice change. Highly recommend. Go early, eat and drink and be merry.

We didn't have reservations so we had to sit at the bar. I was really impressed with the service of the bartender, Gwen. We eat out a lot and have to deal with a large array of service problems. For example in the past places with the best service actually put too much personality into it. Conversely we have been ignored. It is hard to find the right balance and Gwen and the melting pot did it! She was attentive and professional. She knowledgable and down to earth. The food was tasty!

this place would have never been my choice as im not a fan of going to chain restaurants when im traveling out of town but it was everyones wish to go get some fondue. fine. like most chains. youve been to one, youve been to all. service was particularly nice though. our server even though new was fun, engaging and upbeat. the food was good too. i feel like this restaurant is a bit pricey especially cause you gotto pay attention to what youre doing otherwise you will overcook your meats but thats just my opinion. four solid stars nevertheless because we should dip everything in chocolate.

My overall impression of the melting pot was wonderful. I had a fantastic meal, great service, in a convenient location. The atmosphere is romantic and best for first dates or anniversaries. This is also the perfect place to dine before you catch a show at the Fox Theater. There are tones of specials which makes the high price tag a little bit more manageable!

Food was good. Air inside was like a meat locker. Froze during dinner. Can't understand why they keep it so cold inside. This was my second time there. Freezing then too. My wife brought her coat to wear during dinner. I won't be returning. I don't like paying $150 for dinner where I'm not comfortable at all.

I went here for the first time last night for a wedding reception and it was quite an experience. First to all the new people this is a DIY restaurant , so your given raw food and then you cook it to yourself either in broth or fry it in oil. I had had the four course special where you get a cheese dip, salad, meal and dessert. The spinach artichoke dip and cheddar dip were nothing spectacular and the bread they gave you was dry and stale. The chips were also on the stale side like they've been sitting out for a while and the veggies were alright. I really enjoyed the house salad which was salad base with cheddar cheese and a hardboiled egg,my favorite part of that salad was the dressing which tasted kind of like a honey mustard but very tasty. Next was the entree which came with cubed salmon, sesame steak, filet mignon, shrimp and chicken and seasonal vegetables.I loved all the selection of meats in the complimentary broth. The waiters tried to tell us how long to cook each item but it was confusing so I just left everything in the pot for 2min. At this time everything was cooked perfectly and my beefs were a juicy medium every time. The vegetables were also good boiled or battered and fried. I wish we had gotten dessert but we already had the wedding cake before so that didn't happen but it looked really good. Its a fun place to go with friends for the experience but the food is a little pricey and not totally worth it. The service was really good and they were nice and patient with us and all of our questions. Good place to go at least once with some friends for a different experience.

My husband and I had not eaten at a Melting Pot location in nearly 5 years, so on the spur of the moment we decided to visit the location down the street from the Hotel Indigo. All of the tables were booked up, but the hostess offered us seats at the bar. We accepted, and the ladies at the bar took great care of us! I wish I remembered their names, because they were fantastic and had great suggestions for us! We decided to get the 4 course meal, which everything was so delicious. We were so stuffed by the end of the meal that we couldn't eat anymore. I would definitely love to visit here again if we come back to Atlanta. :)

The service was good. Food was good. Honestly, I just didn't really enjoy it. The food is small portions and the experience is okay. My biggest complaint is the price. For what you get, it's incredibly over priced. For some it's probably enjoyable but I'm just not one of those people.

This spot is definitely a high in demand Date Spot, but please don't going with the mind set of Fogo De Chao because you will be super upset lol. Obvious this is a fondue spot, so be prepared to eat alot of cheese and chocolate. The main course they give two adults 4 pieces of steak, 4 shrimps, and some veggies. Think about what I just said!!!!! To me this spot is overrated and expensive, but it is cool date spot because of the chocolate element.

We had both the Cheese and the Bourguignonne, with a mixed selection of meat. Portion was good and the experience was very special. We did not do the Chocolate fondue at the end - but it looked great. Would recommend for a special occasion and a great experience

  • Chase P.

Taylor took great care of us. We decided to go a la carte instead of getting one of their experiences like we normally would and it helped us save room for dessert. Tried the spinach artichoke cheese dip instead of our cheddar standby - it was good but still prefer cheddar! Couldn't resist the bananas foster dessert as it was so good last time - never seems to disappoint, just wish I wasn't so full!

Been going to melting pot for years and tried to go to this one after a show at the fox. Hostess was extremely rude and wouldn't even help us. Tried to sit at the bar but the bartender was even worse. It was so bad that we just walked out. In the future, we will be going to a different location.

I always love the melting pot! I went here this past Sunday to celebrate our engagement and it was the PERFECT night! Thank you for making our night extra special. A great dining experience with wonderful ambience, awesome service and food courses. We tried the cheddar cheese fondue and the chocolate turtle fondue, and both of them were amazing. They charge per entree per person, and the portion sizes depend on your selection, so be sure to let your waiter know what kind of a meal you're planning out. The entrees come in a partially DIY style, where you complete your dish on the cook top. The spinach and artichoke ravioli and the chicken pot stickers both turned out very tasty. It can be a great pick for date night or a family day out. The three course meal took about two hours, so plan accordingly.

My stepdaughter turned 11 this year, and we really like to give experiences as gifts. She loves cheese and she LOVES chocolate, so Melting Pot was a pretty easy match even though I normally shun chain restaurants. We have 2 kids, one of whom is a teenage dude, so it was definitely pricy, and I wanted to research everything ahead of time so that we walked out with the bill I was expecting. I found out that if you get there before 6, you can do a 3 course meal for $29ish, so that's what I suggested to the kids & hubs and they agreed. Since there were four of us, we got 2 pots of fondue for each course--cheese, main & chocolate. Cheese: We did spinach artichoke & cheddar. Both were really good, but the spinach artichoke was amazing. That was a unanimous everyone's favorite. Main: The uncooked meat comes to you and you cook it in oil or broth. We got one regular broth and one mojo. We had to keep reminding the kids not to put cooked meat with the uncooked, and we probably made them a little OCD about it honestly, because now when we cook at the house, they freak out. Anyway. Both broths were equally good, but the dipping sauces were amazing. Man, I could put that Teriyaki on pretty much anything. Chocolate: Stepdaughter wanted plain milk chocolate, and I had read up and knew that the cookies and cream sounded the best. My stepson and I have similar tastes, so we had one milk chocolate & one cookies and cream. OMG IT WAS SO RICH AND DELICIOUS!! I really thought my stepdaughter would lick the pot clean, but everyone was so full that we couldn't. Other: The service was great and it was a great phone/tv free dinner. Stuff constantly coming to the table made it a great family dinner spot since there was always stuff to talk about, and dinner only took us about an hour. We also got the balloon package for the girl child which came with a teddy bear & chocolate wafers. We walked out about $200 lighter after tip (no alcoholic drinks), so this wouldn't be an every day sort of place for us, and it's not really mine and my husband's scene, so we wouldn't go back for date night. What we'll probably do in the future is take the kids for just dessert or just apps after/before eating somewhere else.

Food is great like many other melting pots we have been to. But service was sub par. If the service was good i would give it 4 or 5 starts

If I could give zero stars I would. We have been to The Melting Pot multiple times in the past and we decided to go to this location after watching a show at the Fox. We walked in and told the hostess we needed a table for 2. She mumbled that the earliest table they had for 2 was at 7pm. Mind you we walked in there at 4pm!!! What?? She was so rude, and just said 7. So we walked out, but then I found it hard to believe so I went back in to double check. She said that, yes there were tables that were not working and the first they had for 2 people was at 7pm. She said we could sit at the bar in front of a pot if it was available. So we walked over to the bar and there were two pots. One had a party of 3 sitting in front of it. We asked the bartender if the other pot was available and her response was, "I don't know". Isn't that her job, to know what the hell is going on. I asked the party that was sitting there If they were using the other pot and they said no. But the bartender gave us such an ugly look that we did not want to stay a moment longer in there. We walked out and drove somewhere else. I would not go back to this location, ever!

Great food, but the service is just awful. Waitress forgot we existed about halfway through the meal... Wouldn't really recommend it.

Okay, my wife and I went on a whim for dinner while visiting Atlanta. Next time we will make a reservation, so we don't have to sit at the bar. That being said the service was amazing. The waitresses answered all our questions and we were able to pick out some very nice dishes to eat. It'd been so long since we've last been to a Melting Pot, this was the perfect way to end our last night in Atlanta. Overall, the night was worth every penny, and I only wish we could come back sooner, but we had to go back to Nashville. That being said, we will return, and we will make a reservation.

Three of my girlfriends and I came here for dessert. May I say I like Melting Pot? All super pricey, franchised, cooking-your-own-food part of it? I think it's because I usually come here with good company and have a fun time chatting, cooking, and eating. We chose the Bananas Foster, which I don't really recommend unless deathly sweet desserts are your thing....go with another chocolate. The atmosphere is perfectly intimate, and the chocolate is less than $10 per person and comes with a variety of dippers? What a steal!

I went with my wife on Valentine's Day. It was a nice experience. The food was good. The service could have been a little better. We had to stop our waitress for drink refills but it was a busy night. It was pretty pricey. Around $150.00 before tip for the Valentines special. It was a four course meal though and it was pretty filling. I think we will try again.

THIS PLACE SUCKS! I will just post the letter I sent to the restaurant administration below to sum up my experience here at this restaurant on Christmas Day for dinner. LETTER: Hello, I tweeted with you on Twitter(@Maurice_TyShon) and you gave me this email address to contact you and tell you about my Christmas dinner experience at The Melting Pot at your Atlanta Midtown location. Well my experience was OKAY, at best. I had made a reservation for two at 8:45pm and we arrived about 15 minutes early and I was happy that our table was ready for us when we walked in. My major complaint that I addressed you about on Twitter was the fact that our server, Andrew, completely missed our second course which was suppose to be the salads. While eating our main course which consisted of the chicken, tuna, steak, etc., I stopped Andrew and asked if this was our 2nd of 4 courses and he answered verbatim, "yes we still have the white chocolate fondue and pumpkin spice." The way Andrew answered the question was as if these were two separate courses and come to find out they were not. Our second server who was also attending to our table was Adrian, and he was a lot more helpful and knowledgeable than Andrew was. When Adrian was fixing our white chocolate and pumpkin spice dessert fondue I asked him if the 4-course Christmas special came with a salad and he assured me that yes indeed it did. When I told him that Andrew never brought us our salads he apologized and said Andrew must of forgot. This was our first time visiting The Melting Pot and I have literally been wanting to try this restaurant for over a year, ever since my mother had raved to me about how good the food and service was here after she visited for her wedding anniversary last year. Unfortunately though I did not receive the same "WOW factor" as she did and left the restaurant very disappointed. I also read reviews of this restaurant on Yelp.com before coming and reviewers had left excellent remarks on Andrew and how he went above and beyond for them, but for my party of two he just did not deliver that excellent service I am sure he is indeed capable of. Regards, Maurice D.

This was my 1st time visiting a Melting Pot restaurant although I have been to another local fondue place in the past. I was expecting something sort of cheesy (no pun intended) as far as decor etc...just because of the name I think. But I was pleasantly surprised by the lovely modern and hip design of the restaurant. My date and I were sat in the very back of the restaurant at a table sort of quiet and out of the way...but that was fine with us. Gave us a great place to talk privately and enjoy the ambiance and the quietness. Our server was terrific (can't believe I forgot her name...or maybe I can as we had several cocktails!). But she was lovely and very attentive. The food was really great I thought. We did the 4 course meal which ends up being about $40 per person. Some would say that's a lot. My date doesn't ever bat an eye about price and always seeks out very expensive dining options. If I were with girlfriends and paying myself...I wouldn't be so thrilled. But you do get a fair amount for that amount. The first cheese course with some veggies and breads to dip, followed by the entrees (We did the shrimp and steak) Portions were ample but not huge. This also came with a few veggies. And then the dessert course was AMAZING! We chose the chocolate and peanut butter fondue. I really did love it all and would definitely go there again. Great place for a date....but not if you are short on cash!!!

Not a bad date spot, went with the wifey during Midtown Restaurant week and well worth it. Takes a while to get the pots of cheese and the such going, but the ingredients were fresh and went well with the sauces given. Probably a little pricey and inconvenient if not on a date with a special someone.

  • Adam C.

We got there before 3 and couldn't get out until almost 6:30. This was a major problem, since our show at the Fox started at 6:30. Our waiter knew this in advance, yet still the time between courses was excessive. It was a 3 course meal--how does that take almost 4 hours? Off the bat, the hostess couldn't seat us, despite our being the only reservation at the time and the only patrons in the entire restaurant. It took a half hour to get a cocktail (in an empty restaurant), and longer to get a water. This trend continued until dessert, when our waiter refused to bring our check. I know it can take some time to split up a bill, but he knew in advance it was going to be split up. On top of that, there is no way it should ever take an hour and a half to split up a check. We wanted our check before 5; we didn't get it until 6:20. I was willing to forgive the lackluster meal--it's fondue and you have to know what you're getting into. But things like our server disappearing for 45 minutes at a time, my inability to ever get a refill of water, and the careless indifference of the staff pushed me beyond my ability for sympathy. The food and drinks were bad, the service was worse, it was WAY too expensive, and they wouldn't let us leave. Worst dining experience I've ever had.

Amazing!!! Food is great, lighting perfect, service next to none. Our server Eddy has provided the best service I've ever had, ask for him and you'll be taking care of.

So, my good gf had a certificate for The Melting Pot and asked if I wanted to join. Sure! It'd been way more than a minute since I'd visited any of the locations, and I am not a huge fondue-lover, but I was game. It was good. We got the cheddar (it's actually sharp cheddar and Emmenthaler (sp?) Swiss with some beer and other seasonings) to start, which was yummy. Then we shared the Pacific Rim - or so I thought, because that's what we asked for - but what we actually had, after reviewing their online menu and remembering what we were actually served, was the Land & Sea. Same price, so not a problem there - but with the Pacific Rim there would have been more "options" to roast! Hmm. The food was yummy (chicken, steak, shrimp ripe to be a-skewered!), and we always enjoy ourselves when out together, but our server seemed a bit overwhelmed even though it wasn't that busy - ie, we sat at the bar and it was never full, but it took her awhile on . . . everything. Our dessert fondue was supposed to be the original chocolate one, but she mis-ordered for us and we got the chocolate and peanut butter (delicious with the bananas, btw!!) . . . that sort of thing. Overall, a pleasant experience, but definitely not one I'd go back for without some sort of coupon.

Fantastic fondue restaurant. Went there on Valentines with the lady and we had a great time - we had the lobster entree and every part of it was phenomenal. The white chocolate fondue for dessert was delicious and really hit the spot. Pricey and it takes some time, but a great date spot for sure.

This place was really great for a date-night dinner before a show at the Fox. Our waitress was fantastic, and very good at explaining everything, as this was our first time at a fondue restaurant. We went with the Wisconsin trio for our cheese, the seafood trio for our entree (with the mojo broth), and bananas foster fondue for dessert. Everything was fantastic, but as others have said, this is not a place to go if you're super hungry and looking to leave full. Their portions are what knock it down a star for me. I mean it is about the experience, but when your chefs for the most part are uninvolved in the actual cooking process, it seems like you could be a little more generous with the portions. There is an option to fry your food in oil, and it comes with a couple different batters to use, so I think when we come back we might try that too.

    (4)
  • Kasandra N.

Eh... The price you pay to cook your own food is kind of absurd. But either way the overall experience is one to say you tried. I did go to another location in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania in which I had a better time but this location is decent as well.

The manager told me the waitress admitted to forgetting us. Ah, but she remembered to charge me $80 (with tip)! The manager offered free dessert if we came back (as if I am going to spend that much money again to get free dessert). He further went on to tell their "yelp contact" that he offered to try to make me happy and I gave him no opportunity (totally not true - I am done).

Came here with the boyfriend on a Friday night. We had reservations for 8, but I'm not sure we really needed them by the look of things which surprised me. I was also surprised by how loud it was in there. Lots of birthday celebrations. I was expecting more of a mellow, romantic ambiance. Our server was really friendly, but not super attentive on the drink refills. The, I'm guessing, manager came by a couple times and asked if we were happy with everything so I think they're trying to make sure people are happy. We got the cheddar fondue and the PB&J chocolate fondue dessert. I myself also had a Caesar salad and the teryaki sirloin. All of the food was really good. In the future my BF and I will be sure to split an entree since it was so much food. All told, it was a good experience.

Yesterday, evening the Melting Pot delivered an extraordinary experience. The smooth rich fondue chocolate garnished with a hint of rum, took my pallets to new heights. Thanks for the Willy Wonka experience in an extravagant setting!

For my latest visit I lucked out and won a lunch for 4 on one of their theme days. Melting pots are kind of odd to me. They are very dark and smoky for obvious reasons, but it's a treat to go here and basically cook your own food. I like everything except for their cheese fondue. I have tried 4 different ones and everyone that I have tried has been bland and heavy. (Even with the dumb apples!) Their house salad sweet and Tangy dressing I could literally bathe in. So good! All in all I don't get the the price because the experience has never been Ah-MAY-ZING but I have always loved that when I go it takes several hours to have a meal. The perfect place for catching up with loved ones and having a unique experience.

So the bf and I took advantage of the free cheese or chocolate fondue sent to us over facebook. How could we say no? We wound up having the traditional swiss fondue AND the same waiter as last time. The swiss paired better with the granny smith apples than the cheddar did last time, but I really wished we had 2 cups of veggies instead. The swiss fondue was as it said, traditional. Tasted a lot like how I make it at home, although it had a touch of cherry brandy, and I'm not sure if it added much to the dish. I'll have to try it again. Consistently fun :) Oh and we tried the blackberry margarita as suggested by our server, it was a bit strong and just reconfirmed the fact that I *really* don't like tequila. I would definitely say it's stronger than the basil lemonade though.

Went for a friend's birthday dinner. The experience was great! The prices are high but if you ever heard of it you already know this. You do save a little however if you have a lot of people for the birthday package.

It's a chain so you know what you're getting here. But our server was great, the timing of everything was perfect. The only down side was I called to ask about any deals on Saturday night and they told me over the phone if I come before 5pm I would not need a reservation. When I got there they were 100% full until 9pm! Luckily we were able to sit at the bar which was fine with me.

I did the major suck-up point thing and took my mom and pop here for Mother's Day this year. Neither of them had experienced fondue before so I thought they would get a kick out of it. We had a blast. We had a server that had a great sense of humor. The food was great, despite cooking it ourselves. I've seen to many sad reviews where people are like OMG we had to cook our own food. Sorry folks that's what fondue is. If you want to do the full experience from cheese fondue, apps, full meal and desert go for the Big Night Out Menu it changes fairly often.

"What are you celebrating tonight?" "...my car not being stolen by the people who tried to take it?" I guess it's a fair answer to have when you aren't particularly there for any reason other than a $50 gift card. But seriously after a morning and early afternoon of absolute suckage, the Melting Pot was able to bring a bit of brightness to my day along with a food coma. We came here last year during Midtown Restaurant week, which wasn't a bad deal, but it was like they stuck us on the right side of the restaurant near a kitchen door for being cheap. We did get moved but that was just funny...this time, it was just fine: nice and tucked away in a corner, although it was kind of weird that the table across from us was a mom and a maybe 13 year old boy (or maybe an older woman with a very interesting taste in guys, who knows) and neither of them would leave their phones alone. I can hear the voicemail bot lady over here. Anyway, they weren't that bad but...voicemail bot lady. I hate her. This was the opportunity to try the whole Big Night Out thing, which is currently a Pacific Island theme, complete with matching drinks. (Next is a French theme, no idea when.) We stuck with that for the most part, except for dessert. They should have called the cheese fondue "triple alcohol" because it had not only white wine, but also sake and mirin. I was a bit put off at first because I had a bit that just tasted overwhelmingly of sake, but it neutralized itself rather quickly. It kind of didn't go with the apples, which are usually my favorite. The cheddar cheese one is indeed awesome for apples. I wasn't crazy about the lettuce wraps for a salad. The flavors didn't entirely go together for me, and I could not figure out how to eat it. I tried both cutting up everything and eating it as a wrap. The wrap was too messy and all the stuff on top didn't work well with a fork. Basically it was a romaine lettuce leaf, topped with a mixture of shredded carrots, bean sprouts, cucumber slices, and somewhere in there some mint. The dressing was really good though, it was a mandarin-ginger dressing with some black sesame seeds. The entree portion was awesome. We substituted the pork tenderloin for filet. I had actually joked to a friend before that I wondered if you could just substitute something for filet, and our server just automatically went with filet when we said we didn't want the pork. Awesome. The chili marinated chicken was great, and I loved the ahi tuna. The teriyaki sirloin is always good, but I couldn't bring myself to try the key lime shrimp. They are indeed limey, from the color to the taste, according to my boyfriend. There were also some veggie potstickers, which I would say you should just toss in the broth/oil rather than try to keep on a fondue fork. You will end up needing the food overboard spoon. Also my favorite thing is to first put the potatoes in, just so I can be in charge of their cooking and then announce "potatoes are go!" And if that is not enough, the dessert menu comes along. And even after stuffing your face already, every single chocolate option sounds really good. We went with the chocolate s'mores fondue, which included fire. Tableside flambee is always a win with me, even more when it involves a marshmallow on chocolate and I get to dip cheesecake in there. You may die when dipping a brownie in here. Just saying. It is really expensive, even with the $50 towards everything (okay we also had 2 drinks and a cappuccino and cafe latte). In any case, I don't think fondue is really something most people do more than a couple times a year if that...if they do, they probably have a fondue set at home (hi, mine is shaped like a Hershey kiss), but it's definitely a good time if you want to treat someone out to a fun dinner. Now excuse me, I must return to my coma.

My only comparison for fondue is Dante's Down the Hatch on Peachtree, so here ya go! Atmosphere: Melting Pot - Modern / Hotelish, seating is far from pot (sometimes have to get up to reach food) Dante's - Cozy, seating is closer to pot (be careful!) Cooking options: Melting Pot - 4 cooking (2 broths, oil, and wine) Dante's - Soybean oil only Vegetarian options: Melting Pot - Artichoke, tofu, asparagus, portobello mushrooms, ravioli, and edamame Dante's - Broccoli, carrots, mushrooms, potatoes, squash, cauliflower Chocolate: Melting Pot - Available at any time Dante's - Must order 48+ hrs in advance, not available Fridays and Saturdays Entertainment: Melting Pot - None Dante's - Live jazz (on boat, $7 per person, but can still hear it if you're not on the boat) Depending on your dining preferences will depend on which restaurant you prefer. If you're looking for a chocolate fix, Melting Pot is the way to go. If you're looking for a romantic date, Dante's is your place. I enjoyed the variety of food in the vegetarian entree at Melting Pot, but the tofu was disappointing and I couldn't eat the ravioli (I don't eat cheese). We chose broth as the cooking style and while it was good (and much healthier than oil), the flavor was a bit overpowering at times. Both restaurants have 4 dipping sauces, 2 white and 2 dark sauces, just slight variations. All in all, both restaurants are delicious. I put 3 stars because of the price and lack of jazz / ambience. My top choice for fondue is still Dante's, but that's because I'm a jazz fanatic and I prefer a more intimate dining experience. Hope this has been an informative and helpful review!

The restaurant was really good and it's a place I have always wanted to go. It's an amazing experience. That being said, it's definitely not the place for a (hungry) vegetarian. The vegetarian entree (the only vegetarian entree on the menu) was $20. It was a tiny plate with 4 chunks each of artichoke hearts, Portobello mushrooms, Thai-peanut-marinated tofu, asparagus and small pieces of pasta. All-in-all, I was happy with the cheese and chocolate fondues, but $40 was too much for such a small meal.

We went here for dinner to celebrate the two year anniversary of our first date. Since it had been a while since either one of us had been to The Melting Pot, we needed to be reeducated on the menu and elected for The Big Night Out. All four courses were delicious, but my favorite was the main course which I could have eaten for hours if there was more food on the plate - can't go wrong with pork tenderloin, beef tenderloin, lobster, chicken, etc cooked up in some coq au vin. Awesome stuff. A nice touch - they poured our bottle of wine into a decantur so it could breathe. The only downside - the waitress wasn't tending to keeping our wine glasses full, so I poured us more from the decantur.......but the wine came out a little too quickly and I spilled some of the very nice (and expensive) wine onto the table. Epic fail!

First thing's first: Change your valet sign that says "complimentary valet" to "$5 valet". Complimentary means free (of course I'll tip), not five dollars. I really don't get the appeal of this place. So I get to be overcharged for food that I'm going to cook myself? I'm not a chef, what do I know about cooking anything? We started with the swiss cheese which wasn't anything special. My mom was making better fondue when I was still eating legos back in the 80s. For entree we got the mix of meat, chicken and seafood. The sauces were all pretty good, but nothing more than you'd get from a jar at Trader Joe's. They tell you how long to cook the items, but there is no clock, so who the hell knows the difference between 2 minutes and 2 and a half minutes. The real star of this place is the dessert fondue. We got the original one with chocolate and peanut butter. We loved the marshmallows and bananas and rice krispies treats and pretty much the whole thing. I didn't really think the whole cook your own food concept was worth the money. When you're going to be dropping over $100 per couple this place is on the bottom of my list.

This place gets 3 stars for the food, but I will give it 4.5 stars for the service. In terms of the food, this was my first time trying fondue, so I was not really sure what to expect. However, we started off with one of the cheeses, which came with bread and fruits to dip. The bread was a bit too try for my taste, but I thought the cheese was well prepared -- and I liked how the prepared and mixed all of the ingredients in front of you. Definitely adds a pretty cool element to the dinner when you have the wait staff prepare food fresh in front of you. The meats were good -- you have options on what you want to "cook" it in, but I went with the traditional oil fondue, which basically means you get to deep fry all of the meats and vegetables that are given to you. You have some sauces and some tempura batter to use. Overall, not bad, but then again, you can't really go wrong with you are deep frying things. I was not impressed with the amount of food though, and felt it was a bit overpriced. However, I will say that it is an interesting place to grab dinner, and probably a good date place, because you can talk and mess around with cooking food. Dessert is probably the best part food wise -- you get to dip fruits and cake in chocolate. That's a win. Overall, a bit too pricey in my opinion, but a fun time and likely a good place to try if you haven't been before.

Went here for the hubby's birthday and I am now a huge fan! We had the spinach and artichoke cheese fondue to start out with. It was amazing and i thought it was really neat that they "make" the fondue in front of you at the table. I had the California salad which was yummy but didn't stand out in my book. Hubby said the same thing about his Ceasar salad. For the main meal I had the Pacific Rim which was quiet tasty. It was fun to be able to cook your own meal though I was a little nervous about under cooking to the food so I probably over cooked everything. The dessert was the best part of the meal in my book. The chocolate fondue was delicious and we were supplied with more than enough cake, and fruit to dip in it. Over all I definitely plan on going back again.

Went to the Melting Pot with the gf. We decided to test the Melting Pot experience. This is a fondue place in the best Swiss tradition. They have cheese fondue for starters (while the Swiss actually have complete Cheese dinners), a variety of fondue options for the entree and then chocolate fondue for desert. The place is organized into a variety of small booths, so you do not really see much of the other guests - some will like this and others will hate it. We wanted to talk, so it was OK. We were in a booth on the side and it was a bit chilly when we got there, it did warm up a bit as the evening went on. They have an all night menu with 3 kinds of fondue and salad, which I am sure some will find enticing and other will find this way too much fondue. Better arrive hungry. We had salad (great sized portions) and two different kinds of fondue appetizers - signature and pacific rim. The entrees were composed of pieces of chicken, teriyaki, shrimp, salmon, ... that you have to cook in the fondue. We had potatoes, broccoli and mushrooms as the vegetables. We has the coq au vin broth for the fondue. It was quite good. The vegetables were on the uncooked side and there was not as much of it as you would expect. They should probably have blanched the potatoes a head of time (hint hint) We had the banana fosters chocolate fondue for desert. It is delicious. Quite a treat but also a bit on the heavy side. We had the month special wine - a sauvignon cabernet - I am sure it is good after it has been decanted. Overall very good food and a nice experience. Our waiter was not really the most attentive. We were initially served by someone else - "waiter engaged elsewhere" :-) She was quite knowledgeable about the options and the various options, but it was at best mediocre service. We might go back!

I went to the Melting Pot on a Thursday evening for a birthday dinner. Parking in the lot next door was no problem. Just make sure nothing is going on at the Fox Theatre. We walked in and were promptly seated at a table towards the back. Our server, Jessica, was great and went over the menu with us; as it was our first time there. She decided on the Pacific Rim & California Cobb salad while I opted for the French Quarter & Ceaser salad. The salads were great, especially the ceaser salad. Next the meats came and our server prepared the cooking broth and told us how long to cook each of the meats and vegetables. The food was excellent, and we really enjoyed trying the various sauces with everything. Next, was the amazing dessert. We chose the "Flaming Turtle" dessert. It was so great, that we ordered another one. :-) It was excellent. It came with strawberries, bananas, cheesecake, Rice Krispies Treats, marshmallows, pound cake and brownies for you to dip into the chocolate. It was a great experience and I'll definitely go back. It's a wonderful place to go for a special occasion. You can go and just order dessert, which would make a great date after a show at the FOX or a nice evening out.

I asked my boyfriend at the time to take me here. We had such a bad experience. First, you have to pay for parking since it's in downtown. Our waiter didn't make the atmosphere fun. Portions was really small so we ate then grab dinner elsewhere. lol

Cheese and chocolate - oh my! I've been to the Melting Pot a few times, but never had an entree. (Between the Yelp reviews and the menu prices, I have opted to not bother.) And this is really a 3.5 star review, rounded up because I'm feeling nice. One of my favorite things to do is grab my favorite person on a random special occasion, perhaps after a Fox show, and start with the nacho cheese fondue, as spicy as they'll make it. (Not very spicy, btw.) You get corn chips, flour tortillas, apple slices, and some veggies with it. Not something I'd crave, but it's filling and tastes good. Then the best part - the chocolate fondue dessert. I opt for the s'mores variety since it is just so darn tastelicious. I think they have dark chocolate, a yin/yang chocolate, and something else, but I stick with what I know and love. The chocolate is accompanied by strawberries, pound cake, rice krispy treats, plain marshmallows, and some coated marshmallows. It's so incredibly decadent that you'll think a Bond villain is trying to seduce you.

I know I should be more into local restaurants than chains, but The Melting Pot holds a little piece of my heart back from childhood. It was the "fancy restaurant" my parents would go on dates to, or take us to special birthday dinners. The midtown location is just as lovely as any other - dimly lit, friendly waitstaff, calm atmosphere. Although as a kid I only got cheese and chocolate fondue, my tastes have matured to enjoy some of the meat selections The Melting Pot offers - the filet is particularly good. The staples, though, are always as good as I remember: cheddar cheese fondue (I hear they actually use PBR as the lager in the 'due) with an array of apples, carrots, breads, etc., and a to-die-for chocolate fondue with every dessert you could imagine. My husband and I shared a meal for Midtown Restaurant Week the other night, and the Pot didn't disappoint. The only somewhat negative in the night was our choice of the s'mores fondue - probably not the best on the menu, and all those slightly soggy graham crackers get in the way. All in all, a fun, romantic experience at the Melting Pot, featuring delicious food, and the parking options aren't terrible. I highly recommend!

My wife took me here tonight as a surprise dinner to celebrate our Anniversary/Christmas and it was delicious! We have been to a lot of different Melting Pot's throughout the years and this one is the best by far. Our server, Andrew, was awesome. He knew a lot about their menu and was very eager to give suggestions. We were looking for something new to order that we had not tried before. We have yet to get anything we did not like and have tried at least half of the menu. Tonight did not disappoint either! Great food and extremely great staff at this location! We will definitely be back!

uum....wow. Okay, so the hubby decided to take me here for my 29th birthday celebration. Here we go: Ambiance - A+,waitstaff - A+, Fondue experience - F! The whole idea of cooking my own dinner while paying the restaurant $165 (yes!!) is absurd. This was not a pleasant experience for me. I was extremely hungry, and decided after 5 apples dipped in cheese, that I would NEVER eat here again. Don't get me wrong. This is a really nice place to have an intimate dinner, but the whole "cooking my appetizer, entree, and dessert" is crazy to me. So, I definitely give this one a thumbs down!!

This is a really hard restaurant for me to rate. The food is fantastic - easily 4 stars - but the service is just so hit or miss that I don't know what to give it overall. I've been to this location probably five or six times, and I can think offhand of two pretty awful service experiences, one moderately yucky experience (the server figured out that we were there with a professional food critic and tried to suck up to us in order to get a good write-up), and the rest...were either pretty decent or altogether unmemorable. The most recent time I went, about a month and a half ago, the service was on the yuckier side. We waited like 20 minutes just to be spoken to, the server brought my companion the wrong meats (I didn't THINK that looked like salmon...!!), and he never really explained the cooking times. Fortunately for my companion, I've been to the Melting Pot enough to fill him in myself. But that's not my job, it's the server's job. What are we tipping the server for, if I'm doing his work for him? The manager did come by and apologize (three times?), which I appreciated. The time before that, it was Halloween (or Halloween weekend, I don't remember). Admittedly, I wasn't really dressed for the Melting Pot: it was a spur of the moment outing, and I had just gotten off work, where we had just concluded a Halloween-themed party and I was dressed something like a zombie. I did put my coat on over the shredded shirt, though...because, you know, that's just inappropriate. But I still didn't appreciate the way we were treated. First we were told that there was no seating available (um, what are those empty tables right in front of us?), then we were crammed into a particularly dark and abandoned corner by their shut-down "backup" bar, presumably so that nobody could see my ~offensively shredded shirt~. You know, the one I covered up with my jacket. I happen to know from experience (prior date night) that the Melting Pot has private, enclosed, two-person tables. Why not stick us there? The restaurant was obviously really, really, really not busy (I saw only a handful of occupied tables), and in the unlikely event that the secluded two-tops were all occupied somehow, we would gladly have waited for one of them, so that my dressed-down state wouldn't be so obvious to other patrons (honestly, though, it really wasn't that bad - I took off my shredded skirt, leaving only normal black pants, and my jacket almost entirely covered up my shredded shirt...I guess maybe my makeup was a little unexpected - messy smoky black eyes - but it's not like I was dripping fake blood everywhere). Once we were actually seated, the service was acceptable (the server seemed amused by my costume), but I still didn't appreciate the way we were treated by the host. So...go for the food, but prepare yourself for extremely hit-or-miss service. Especially if you're dressed like a zombie.

Came here yesterday with my man. Both of us had a pleasant experience. We order the Lobster Indulgence on the Big Night Out promotion that the place had. It was quite good. However, I do recommend opting out on the Wisconsin Cheese Pot if you're not quite a blue cheese person. The taste was quite weird, but we ate it anyway. Ha-ha. Our server was great and very tentative to our dining experience. I probably will pass on the dinner pots and will definitely come back for desserts because it was the best course out of the four.

1991 sitting around an orange fondue pot hoping what I put on my stick will reappear after dipping it in the cheesy goodness.......... now 2011 sitting around a fancy silver fondue pot cooking right on our table! I had the pleasure of visiting the Melting Pot during Midtown Restaurant Week and really took to the place. Many childhood memories came back from dining at this restaurant, I do have to say they have really stepped it up a few notches from the orange colored fondue pot. Not only have the pot changed, but the foundue changes in the courses is what made the night SO much fun! The first course we made a selection of cheese, I think there were about 10 to choose from. This was served with your traditional breads, veggie and not so traditional apples (which was really good). The second course was the cooking oil, wine, herbs, seasons and many more. This is where you select your main dish: Chicken, fish, steak, tuna, shrimp and actually cook your food at your table in your fondue pot. While the food is cooking you can talk, try some wine. After the food is done cooking they set out many different dipping sauces to try. The third and final course was my favorite chocolate fondue! We went with the "original" chocolate because it has peanut butter in it and I am a huge peanut butter fan. The tray of desserts that came out blew my mind, it had cheese cake, marshmallows, strawberries, rice crispy treats, brownies, and cake. Dining experience will be well over 2 hours. The Melting Pot was fun and different from all the other restaurants. Money saver: If you don't want to spend a fortune by eating all three courses, I would advise you to at least stop in and order the chocolate fondue ~ it was WELL worth the money!

The Melting Pot was my first time dining at a Fondue restaurant. For the most part the experience was tasteful and ideal. The service was very good and the wine even better. My party consisted of a mere four persons and we were seated promptly (more-so because we arrived an hour to close). I ordered a 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon, Johnny Walker, Califnornia salad, and traditional swiss cheese fondue. Shrimp and Sirloin as an entree mojo style. The shrimp and sirloin was great but the Pacific Rim that my girlfriend had was more appealing because it offered a better variety. I opted not to go with the chocolate fondue dessert because I was already quite overwhelmed, until I seen my friends desser platter. It consisted of toasted marshmellows, cheesecake, cake, strawberries, banana slices, and brownie bits; all for just $5! The Melting Pot is definitely the place you stop in at after a meal for dessert. Bill topped off at about 50+ per person, and worth every penny.

My fiance and I went to The Melting Pot tonight. They have been around for years, but neither of us had ever been to one, so we decided to go for a special date night. Our waitress was very soft spoken, but very kind in educating us on what this fondue thing is all about. After going through the menu and explaining everything to us, we decided on the Big Night Out with the Mojo cooking style. But first, we started with some drinks. I had a Kettle One dirty martini with blue cheese stuffed olives, and she had the Love Martini. They were very good! The first course of cheese fondue, included pieces of bread, cauliflower, carrots, broccoli, and granny smith apple chunks. The cheese was melted before us in the pot with beer, bacon, chives, and some secret stuff I think. It was good. The cheese dip was good. The bread was hard and stale, but maybe it's supposed to be like that. The apples in cheese was an odd combination, which was not bad, but not great either. Then came the salad. It was a really good wedge salad with blue cheese, tomatoes, and a tasty house dressing. It too, was pretty good. We were off to a good start! Then came the main course.. We got the the Fondue Fusion, which was a mix of lobster tail, angus beef, marinated pork, buffalo chicken, and cajun shrimp. It also came with potatoes, broccoli, and mushrooms as the vegetables. We were excited by this because who doesn't like all that?! Here's where the whole thing went south for us... Our waitress kept referring to us cooking our own dinner. What that basically means is, they bring you a boiling pot of flavored bouillon, and you boil the meat yourself. Boiled meat? Really?? The angus steak looked amazing! Red, marbled, and tender... I should have eaten it raw. Stabbing it with the fondue fork and boiling it for the suggested 2 minutes, turned it into a piece of rubber. It worked OK for the lobster and shrimp, but beef, chicken, and pork, should never be boiled. It wasn't good. In fact, it was bad. I guess I expected the entree to be served cooked, with a fondue sauce of some kind to dip it in. There were sauces... plenty of them. But they only served to cover up the tasteless boiled meat that we were "cooking" at our table. And so far, our waitress was with us. Attentive and on the spot. We didn't complain. After all, this was our first time and maybe this was just how it's done. Finally, our 4th course of dessert arrived. We got the Chocolate Wildberry Crunch Fondue. This is described in their menu as their take on PB&J. And it was... and it was good! Served with oreo encrusted marshmallows, brownie bites, pound cake, cheese cake, rice crispie treat morsels, strawberries, and bananas. This was some good stuff for the sweet connoisseur. Unfortunately, I was there for the main course. Once we finished dessert, we sat there and waited... and waited... and waited. Our waitress was gone. On break? Fired? Quit? Who knows?! But we were really getting impatient. We literally sat for about 30 minutes. Finally, a gentleman came up and asked us if we needed anything.... he was either the bus boy or the manager, we couldn't tell. He brought us our check and we gave him our card. Our waitress suddenly appeared and dropped it on our table, said a quite "Thank you" and walked away. What?? What did WE do? Overall, it was OK if you are going for drinks and a cheese fondue. It's a great place for a late night dessert. But if you want a main course, I think it's disappointing. And then our service at the end was unacceptable. We will not be going back. Maybe all these years of seeing it and hearing about it, built up the hype. But your money is better spent elsewhere, in my opinion. UPDATE: One of the managers called me today to discuss my experience. He was very nice and apologetic for our experience. I'm not sure if we really had a bad experience or we just aren't really into that style of cooking. But he offered to make it right, and invited us back and said he would comp our dessert. I really appreciated the effort and that goes a along way. So one more star. Will we go back? I'll let you know...

I am a big fan of fondue, and having it out and not making the mess at home is a huge plus. But this is truly a time (and money) committment. Don't get me wrong, the food is great and as long as you are with friends and don't mind filling the time with good conversation, this is quite the dining event. My trip was right after they opened and the one in Midtown is trying to be more upscale from previous locations. The waiter was a little unsure but he did well to explain everything and make good recommendations. So if you like fondue, don't mind spending a lot of time for dinner, and are looking to spend the money, try it out, I think you may like it.

Be prepared to completely engorge yourself. There is no eating "light" at this place. I don't even know why they have salads (although I've tried 3, and they're all delicious). I will never again waste the precious real estate in my belly with salads at the Melting Pot. And be prepared to spend 2-3 hours here. It takes a long time. Be prepared to spend a lot of time with your server. Sometimes, there can be awkward silences/small talk as they try to keep the temperature right in the pots, prepare the cheese fondue, explain all the cooking procedures/times, etc. You start with cheese fondue and a variety of breads. One pot per couple. Each kind that I've had is incredible (and filling on its own). Next, is the meats. The only meat I don't recommend is the duck. Hubs and I both agree on this one. The sirloin, chicken, and shrimp are all tasty. You also choose your cooking oil/broth. We usually get the regular one. The meats come with a variety of dipping sauces. My favorite is the gorgonzola dip. This course also comes with a bowl of veggies that you dump into the pot to cook. Potatoes, mushrooms, broccoli, cauliflower, and carrots. Finally...the chocolate fondue. There are so many variations that they need a separate menu. Our favorite is the Yen & Yang, which is a dark chocolate and white chocolate combo that comes in the pot looking like a yen-yang. Pretty cool. This course comes with bite-size marshmallows, rice-crispy treats, cheesecake, strawberries, and bananas. You can spend a LOT of money and a LOT of time here if you're not careful. We went here for my birthday last December. We had a 7:30 show to catch at the Fox and were worried we wouldn't make it because we still had dessert left to do. Our server let us hold off on doing chocolate fondue until after our show was over. How cool is that?? One thing to keep in mind: the floors are SUPER slippery. I've been there several times, and each time I have come this close to busting my ass on the way to the restroom (which is all the way in the back). I have also personally witnessed 2 girls slip and fall trying to navigate the turn to the restroom. They should probably do something about that.

My girlfriend and I made a reservation here on a Thursday night for her visit, and we both had a splendid time. We ordered the Yin-Yang shared chocolate liquor drink, which ended up being enormous! The drink wasn't overly sweet which was nice. For the course, we went with the "Big Night Out". The waiter was very accommodating as he allowed us to make multiple substitutions with courses and was quite patient as we were there for almost 3 hours! Overall, the four course meal was quite filling, with my favorite being the dessert - a Flaming Turtle with dark chocolate, caramel and pecans. Simply an amazing fondue with strawberries (the waiter even gave us an extra bowl of them!) In short, the experience was excellent, the food was delicious, but as others have mentioned before, it IS quite a bit pricier than I feel the experience warrants (-1 star). Expect your meal to be over $100 for two.

My family and I just had our first Melting Pot experience on Sunday night. We gathered to celebrate my mom's birthday, so it was a large-ish group of 7 of us. I made the reservations in advance, and added a celebration package with balloons and a chocolate fondue bar included for around $15. When we arrived at the restaurant, it took them just a few minutes to prepare our table, and then they led us to a private dining room of our own to be seated. The balloons were indeed in place on the table, which was a lovely surprise for mom, and the entire staff had also signed a card and put at one of the place settings for the birthday girl. Our server, Al, was awesome, start to finish. He understood that we were first-timers and walked us through every aspect of the meal. We decided on the Big Night Out (France) option, and basically we just tried a little bit of everything. Our cheese selections were the Wisconsin Trio (so good!!! If you're not a bleu cheese person, though, you might want to skip this), the Cheddar, and the Fiesta cheese mix, which were both very good as well. With a huge variety of dippers - from bread and chips, to raw veggies, to granny smith apple slices - there was no shortage of combinations to try. For our entree, we chose the Mojo, Bourguignonne, and Coq au Vin cooking styles. The Mojo ended up being the overall favorite for our group there. We choose each of the three styles, including the Fondue Feast, the Fondue Fusion, and the Lobster Indulgence. The lobster and shrimp were extremely good, the NY strip and filet mignon were to die for, and even the duck was pretty good! For dessert, we went with the Bananas Foster and the Cookies 'N Cream dessert fondues - both flambeed tableside - and served with a variety of dippers including cheesecake, pound cake, brownies, strawberries, bananas, cherries, marshmallows, and more. Before we left, the manager of the restaurant came by to wish my mom a happy birthday and ask how everything was for us. It was the perfect touch. I read some reviews prior to deciding on the Melting Pot for my mother's birthday dinner that left me wondering if I was making the right choice, but after our experience there the other night, I know for sure that I did.

At this exact moment, my stomach is desperately trying to escape the confines of my jeans. I just had my very first Melting Pot experience, and because I spend way too much time on Yelp, of course this would be the first place I go to after the dinner.... First - I would never ever come here if I had to actually pay for my own food. If you get only an entree, then ok, it's not too bad at around $20 a plate. But come on, its THE melting pot, so you absolutely must also indulge in the cheese fondue and the dessert fondue at the end. If you've come to stab food with little prongs, then you'd better stab away at a maximum (aka order a three course meal). Anyways - I came here in a party of 7, and the bill came out to be approximately $333 (or similar). Second - I agree with Taylor A. at the bottom. Seriously?! "Complimentary valet" but only the first hour is free?? Then it suddenly turns into a $5 valet? Ridiculous. This is the Melting Pot, where it is humanly impossible to get in and out in less than three hours. You're better off braving some sketchy side street, or just parking along Juniper (provided its after 6:30pm). Anyways - so we were seated at these tables that have these large metal bowl-looking things in the middle of them. Service is fancy-fancy (and for the prices, it damn well better be). Appetizers. We ordered three different cheese fondues: Fiesta - The best out of the three. We asked for "medium" hot, and (of course, this is American version of spicy) there was absolutely no fire whatsoever. But this one was very tex-mex-y. Made me think of when I order cheese dips at Mexican restaurants. Cheddar something - the server said that this one was the most popular, and I'm really not too sure why. It was just that - cheddar, and lots of it. It had a beer base, so you could definitely taste the beer through the cheese, but was otherwise not very memorable. Spinach artichoke - very spinachy, very cheesy. What else would you expect? Cheese fondues come with tortilla chips, bread, apples, and other misc. vegetables. Next, we all had our salads, because each entree comes with one. Very unmemorable.. I had the house salad. Typical, mediocre, etc, etc. Too much dressing. Main Course: I had the seafood trio, which translated into 4 pieces of raw scallop, shrimp, and smoked salmon. The salmon was good, but otherwise it was just ok. Wasn't stellar, or the freshest thing I've ever eaten either. Everything cooked fairly quickly. Also, I know that you can get like "special" things to fondue your stuff in... cost like an extra $6 or so. Please, save your money and don't do it. Main course also comes with mushrooms (very large), potatoes (medium size), and broccoli (very large). Also comes with a bunch of sauces to dip everything in. Strangely the sauces that the server claimed were the "most popular" turned out to be my least favorite. Dessert: Smores - my favorite!!! Just think of how a smore should taste, and that's what they gave you. Snickers - our server totally raved about this one. But overrated. Didn't quite taste like a liquid Snickers bar, which is what he had claimed. Cookies and cream - very dark colored chocolate, honestly didn't taste too much cookie and cream... but also very very excellent, and rich. Desserts came with rice krispies, pound cake, brownies, marshmallows, strawberries, bananas, and maybe something else too.. Overall? I think I fit way too much food into my stomach. There is a significant amount of waiting time in between the courses that you can actually feel your stomach emptying. This allowed me to eat enough for several large men. Other than that... quality of food definitely wasn't good enough for the price. If you head up to Duluth area, there are plenty of Shabu Shabu places that taste much better, and is much cheaper as well. The Melting Pot was definitely pretty gimmicky. If I came back, I'd come back for just the dessert.

I really enjoyed The Melting Pot concept but the service sucks, I went on valentines day for the first time. We had a reservation for 3pm and was not seated until 4pm. So we opted to go to the bar for an hour until seating became available. once seated we were seated in the back of the restaurant. The waitress was very rude and unprofessional. We started with the cheddar cheese fondue which was okay but not so great. Then our entree was Shrimp and sirloin cooked Coq au Vin style which I really, really liked. the chocolate was great with the strawberrys, cake and crispy treats. Looking at what was brought out was a shocker for what we paid. At first I felt we were eating like rabbits. until 2nd course then 3 rd course... It was pricey and the complimentary valet was 5 bucks. LOL

  • Raymond H.

Awesome fun. Slightly pricey, but the entire meal is an event (please do not show up at 10:30pm, as the meal can take 2+ hours)...thus, in the end, the enjoyment and the food is worth it.

Four people, one pot. Maybe it was me, but we ordered two of the same dishes and got two plates of meat and one plate of veggies....does someone see a mathmatical error in that equation? I understand that you save dishes and space by bringing out one plate of veggies, but please believe that the amount of veggies on that plate did not look double. The waitress was phenomenal. Three out of the four of us had worked or were working in food service before, so we understood stumbling over words when explaining the menu and forgetting drinks because there was something else to do. (Seriously, it wasnt bad service. It was more humorous.) We had fun messing with her and having her be candid and fun with us. Wednesday Night is the time to go. It's fairly empty. Not a lot of people make it down to Melting Pot on Wednesday nights. There were nightly specials I saw and had I thought about it earlier I would have made more of a mental note and decided to go one one of the better nightly special nights. The ambiance is great. It could be romantic or it could be up-to-date and trendy, depending on your company. I loved that it was so much bigger than it appeared initially. The bathrooms were nice, but average. Not much to write home about but I do like mentioning they were clean. That is always good for a restaurant. The food was a bit expensive. I doubt I'll be going back, but it was a great experience.

To me the food was just ok. I don't think I'd go back. It was great to experience it, but who wants to do that much work cooking food when you can have it professionally done for less. The place was busy and reservations are required on most nights so I must be one of those who thinking the quality of the food weighs more than atmosphere. I will say that the service is excellent.

It should be noted that the staff at this establishment demonstrate exceptional character, they truly take the time to ensure their patrons are treated properly. We received excellent service.

Great service, but the food was meh for the price. My boyfriend and I had $50 off and without the coupon, it wouldn't have been worth it. Drinks are delish though, and the beer was ice cold!

The Melting Pot is a favorite of mine for special occasions, but I just recently visited the Midtown location. I honestly only go for the cheese fondue and the chocolate - the meat is nothing special what so ever. You should know before you go that I don't recommend going for the food, I recommend going for the experience. It's a great date night place. You do have to pay for parking, FYI. Also - a tip, we made reservations and waited for 15 minutes. Then literally got the worst table in the house. A table in the back of the restaurant, right next to the bathroom. Also next to a door, and in November it was pretty chilly. I will definitely request a table in the main dining area next time, even if it means waiting longer. Since the experience makes or breaks it for me, the table pretty much ruined it.

This was part of a girls night out celebration towards my birthday. While the location is in the heart of Midtown, this means parking is a pain. You can either do street parking which is limited to two hours and then you have to go recharge, or you can do valet/self-park in the lot adjacent for $5. I did the latter and was glad because your meal here will take you a while. The ambiance of the place is nice and can make for a good setting for groups or even date night. I would not really encourage kids here unless they are in their teens. Since it was my birthday and I had a group of 7 we were seated in one of their tables in the party area away from the rest of the restaurant. Our drinks were all good. We did some cheese starters which came out just fine. The process of the pot and the melting ingredients is a little interesting, at first at least. Our main course took a while to make an appearance. Apparently quick service is not their motto. Either that or they believe in realllllll relaxed dining! Entrees themselves were good but the process of heating the broth and then cooking the meat can take a while and unless you have a party where conversation is flowing, this might take its toll on the evening. And then dessert , which was just one pot, took longer than the entrees for no obvious reason. By this time, the novelty of the experience had worn out and we really need to move on. They were nice in that they got me a little birthday plate with a candle and some sweet treats but then came the tab and there was no easy way to do it. We had multiple rounds of clarification and card transactions before we could call it a night. It took us a good 3 hours to get done with our meal and half of that was just waiting for the next course even though we had placed our orders when the previous course arrived. I wont be going back here too soon, and even then, only with a really interesting party or some out of towners who might want to experience this.

I've been to the Melting Pot twice. Both times were extraordinary service and a wonderful waitstaff. Maybe, its just me, but after the first time, the whole fondue concept kind of wears off. The second time just seemed to drag out and the "wow" factor seemed to be gone. The food is good, but a little overpriced, especially on a college student budget. I suggest the melting pot for special occasions and if you're bringing people that have never been before.

Typical Melting Pot. Walking distance to Fox Theatre. They have deals for dinner and theatre tickets, but if you already have your tickets they still have pre-show dinner specials sometimes.

Went on the suggestion of a friend. The drinks were great overpriced and not a lot of options. I had the Love Martini, Birthday Cake shot and Ying Yang. As for the food the sauces were great. I am not big on meat that is boiled in broth. We got the Coq au Vin and the Mojo. I could only eat half and left the rest there. I did love the Cesar salad but they put the dressing on for you and I felt that I had too much on mine. I did take dessert home. It was good and the small is enough for 2 or 3 people. I went with a group of girls but this is a nice romantic restaurant. Great for a dates.

I must admit - before last night I was a virgin. I was untouched, clean and full of hope. Before this gets out of hand, I'm referring to fondue, you dirty boy. You'd think, as a child of the 70s, fondue would be as familiar to me as TAB, H.R. Puffenstuff and the Buggle's "Video Killed the Radio Star, " but, no, my mother eschewed such trends and I was left behind. So, last night, the Melting Pot was actually a fun little surprise. Our server was VERY knowledge about the process which, I must admit, was a bit overwheling - cooking styles, sauces, meats, oh, my! But, after a few dips in the cooking oil pool, I got the hang of it - certainly not rocket science. Just make sure you cook it thoroughly (1 minute for shrimp, 1.5 for steak, 2 for pork - they really should have timers on the tables, otherwise, you just have to guess). I'm sold - I will go again; great place to take your folks or someone you don't have a lot in common with (first date) - the process gives you something to talk about. A little on the pricey side, tho, but will all this fondue fun, I barely noticed.

You will love this place or hate it. The service is GREAT. They have free valet. We did salads and cheese fondu. I've never loved paying a lot to cook my own food. Give it a try once, and again the service is great. I would chose to spend my dining dollars more.

I recently took my girlfriend to the melting pot because it's her favorite place. we got the Big Night Out. The food and service were great, however drinks were very overpriced with a very small selection. I will go back again but I probably won't order drinks next time. the total bill was about $175 with 2 drinks each.

I also had the odd experience of being seated at the very back of the restaurant instead of the more central comfortable areas that were readily available. Another odd note - the table next to us was having what looked like to be a photo shoot. Kind of distracting when you're trying to have a romantic dinner. Service was great. Server was very knowledgeable. Food on the other hand not as good. We ordered a cheese fondue and the bread was kind of dry. Veggies were pretty fresh. They give you unlimited veggies, apples, bread with your cheese fondue order. We ordered the white chocolate fondue and it was watery!!! I would have eaten the bananas, rice krispy treats, cheesecake, brownie, etc without the watery white chocolate. I don't think I'll come again. Overpriced for what they offer.

The only reason The Melting Pot gets 4 stars is because I only go there for the desert. The Banana Foster Chocolate Fondue is delicious. I don't really like going to a restaurant and paying $40 to cook my own food, but the experience is good.

Fun place to eat! We did a 3-course and it took about 2 hours total, so don't go there hungry (takes too long to get through all your courses). The dessert is definitely the best course! I am vegetarian, and it was very easy for them to accommodate me with a vegetarian platter to cook.

So I know it's a big chain and the fondue concept isn't the freshest... But dining at the Melting Pot just never fails to be delicious, totally satisfying and fun. I don't find the cheese course to be very impressive, but we still always mange to wipe the pot clean (the Wisconsin Trio is the yummiest). The main course and dessert, however, are wonderful (esp. the Yin & Yang dessert). They provide you with the finest dippers: filet, lobster, fresh fruit and vegetables... as well as almost too many delicious dipping sauces to choose from. While you definitely must make reservations for dinner and allot a good 2.5-3 hours for the full meal, stopping by for just cheese/chocolate and some drinks is so easy and needs hardly any foresight. The Midtown location is now my favorite spot to go for dessert or for hanging out after shows at the Fox. The Melting Pot can be a great date place, as well as a really fun group dining experience. I've so far attended large birthday parties there, smaller family dinners, an anniversary, great pre-show dinners, girls night out... Name the occasion, the Melting Pot is a great place to celebrate.

As their clever and witty name hints, The Melting Pot is a famous US-franchised fondue restaurant. You can find this restaurant in any major cities except in Atlanta...until recently. Finally, The Melting Pot opened in Atlanta! Well, to be exact, Midtown. But frankly, I don't really care whether it's Atlanta or Midtown, as long as I don't have to drive all the way to Kennesaw! Since they just opened, their fondue pots, tables, and everything else in the restaurant is spanking new and clean. It has a very city-chic interior, but it's somehow very comfortable too - quite possibly because of the cushy seats. The restaurant has many private rooms for parties, which is a distinctive characteristic of The Melting Pot. Of course, your waitress/waiter is superbly friendly. As they prepare my Cheese, we talk, talk, and talk more. By the end of the meal, I feel like I made a new friend. When we first found out they opened, my boyfriend and I were worried about parking. It's on Peachtree, how are we going to find a safe and good parking spot? Well, quite conveniently, they provide complimentary valet parking - it's one block away from the restaurant. I would also recommend bringing a pal while you are at it. I realized that fondue is so much more fun when you are there with a bunch of people. So bring a friend. Chat, eat, drink, and be merry!

I went here with a group of friends a few weeks ago for dinner and I asked myself: Am I in middle school again? Why am I going to the Melting Pot? Well, I was there and I was going to make the best of it. There were 6 of us and we were unfortunately seated at a long table verses a round table.....not fun for fondue or conversation. Our waiter was nice, but the service was slow. It took almost 3 hours to have 2 courses. The cheese course was amazing. Dinner; not so much. I would recommend heading here with friends for cheese and dessert courses. Pack your wallet with cash because this is a "big evening out" even according to their menu. Prepare to shower and to launder all of your clothing after a visit.

We went here for our wedding anniversary, and it was a wonderful evening. We had reservations and took advantage of the complimentary valet (which is complimentary for an hour and then it's just $5 after that). Our waiter had really good suggestions and was good about my food allergies. He also had little tidbits of knowledge about fondue. He really seemed to love his job. It's a lot of money, but it's also a lot of food. It was about $50 a person for us. Wonderful way to celebrate a special night!

I'd probably knock this down a half-star if it weren't for Midtown Restaurant Week's awesome bargain, but I definitely enjoyed my meal here. The cheese fondue was great - we tried both the swiss and the cheddar, and I was a huge fan of the healthy dippers (granny smith apples and raw veggies). The "Signature Selection" entree was good, but it wasn't unforgettable. It actually made me realize how amazing and affordable Mini Hot Pot is, and how much more you get for your money. The dessert was amazing, though, and I can definitely see myself coming back just for this - particularly the Bananas Foster Fondue, a mixture of white chocolate, fresh banana slices, brown sugar, and deliciousness. It blew the other dessert options out of the water (or fondue pot, or whatever). I would love for the dessert dippers to be all fresh fruit rather than brownies and cakes (sugar overload), so I may ask for that option in the future. As others have noted, this is not a quick meal. We were there for about two and a half hours, but that's the fondue experience for ya. I think the $25 prix fixe menu deal for Restaurant Week was an amazing deal, and all four of the members in my dining party loved the meal (but agreed they'd never pay the regular prices). I'd definitely consider going here in the future for cheese and dessert fondue, and I think the dessert option and dark, romantic ambiance make for a great date spot. Service is friendly and knowledgeable. Because this is quite an interactive dining experience, you will get to know your waiter - they make quite a few trips to your table and actually prepare several of the courses tableside. Jeff, our waiter, was awesome and seemed genuinely happy to be working here (even though it was his bday the night we went!). If you take anything from this review, please let it be the Bananas Foster.....order it. Now.

I guess I'm just not a 'fondue person'. I went the other night for a friend's birthday, and I was not impressed. I don't understand paying so much money for mediocre food that you have to cook yourself.

Went with a group of 8 last night. We were in the private room which I believes seats 12. Everything from start to finish was OUTSTANDING. The Melting Pot is always a great experience. We were able to try 3 cheese fondues.....all exceptional, 3 cooking styles, and 3 dessert fondues. Service is always on point and the meal flowed from start to finish perfectly. Overall LOVE IT!

I really enjoyed the melting pot. We had the Caribbean cheese fondue which was delicious. I thoroughly enjoyed the house salad, the dressing was awesome! I can not remember the name of the martini I had but the strawberries in it were shaped as hearts...I think maybe it was called, " A Lover's Martini." Anyhow, it was delicious as well. Finally we had the flaming turtle chocolate fondue and it was GREAT!! I will definitely be going back. Service was awesome and our waiter was very knowledgeable as well as very personable.

Went with gf and daughter to the one near Gwinnett Mall but were disappointed by the rediculously LIMITED cuisine for vegetarians! (That's all three of us.) Our waitress at first seemed CONFUSED by fact we don't eat meat, so it was basically cheese, chocolate or fruit. Not nutritious nor cost-effective. Would not even recommend if I still ate meat.

I must admit, I was a bit skeptical of the whole fondue concept. My friend insisted I try it and I really enjoyed myself. For me, fondue isn't necessarily about the food, but more about the experience. It is great for a date or a night out with the girls. I recommend doing the "Big Night Out" the first time you go so that you can try everything and get the full experience. You will get a salad, cheese fondue, main course, and desert fondue. Be sure to get the salad with the house dressing. The dressing is sweet yet tangy and is oh so delicious. You can't go wrong with any of the cheese fondues. Be sure to try apples with the cheese. It sounds disgusting but is my favorite now. As for desert, try the flaming turtle. They literally set it a flame and the caramel, pecans and chocolate taste so great together. Be sure to log on to the website and sign up for their newsletters. I get free chocolate fondue coupons all the time and priority notice about special events.

My boss gave me $150 gift certificate to The Melting Pot which is the only reason I went considering how expensive the menu items are. Don't get me wrong.. I had a good dining experience, but I guess I expected more based on the price. Our server was very pleasant and extremely helpful. The cheese fondue was delicious, but while I was watching it being prepared it dawned on me that (GASP) I can do this at home! For our main dish we got a platter that included shrimp, lobster tail, filet mignon, chicken, pork, salmon, and gorgonzola ravioli plus a wide array of dipping sauces. For desert we chose milk chocolate and dipped strawberries, bananas, pound cake, brownies, and something else artery clogging. I definitely walked out more full than anticipated. All in all, the food was good, but the entire thing was a bit too gimmicky for my taste. Especially for $150. Thank heaven I didn't have to pay for it.

The melting pot is a restaurant that you go to for the experience and not necessarily for the food. The food was decent, my favorite part was dessert. I ordered the cookies and cream with white chocolate instead of the milk chocolate and it was delicious! I had an issue with the customer service initially but our waiter quickly recovered so we were pleased with him afterwards. I came for Midtown Restaurant Week and got the $35 meal option but I can't say that I would return for the food but definitely will for the dessert.

The Melting Pot is a restaurant of ambience and patience. My wife and i have visited many locations for the past 12 years. The experience is created for romantic, family fun and/or conversation. We visited the Mid-Town location for our anniversary. Great time as this was our 4th visit to this location. Parker, our waiter, was awesome. Witty, helpful and genuinely funny. Take you family or significant other. Have fun with the experience. You will enjoy the memories.

Not a bad date spot, went with the wifey during Midtown Restaurant week and well worth it. Takes a while to get the pots of cheese and the such going, but the ingredients were fresh and went well with the sauces given. Probably a little pricey and inconvenient if not on a date with a special someone.

First time I'd been there and out was great. The timing was fun to keep up with and the choices were delicious and of course CHOCOLATE!

Went for a friend's birthday dinner. The experience was great! The prices are high but if you ever heard of it you already know this. You do save a little however if you have a lot of people for the birthday package.

Portions was really small so we ate then grab dinner elsewhere. lol

LOL

Awesome fun. Slightly pricey, but the entire meal is an event (please do not show up at 10:30pm, as the meal can take 2+ hours)...thus, in the end, the enjoyment and the food is worth it.

If you want to do the full experience from cheese fondue, apps, full meal and desert go for the Big Night Out Menu it changes fairly often.
