I've been here once before. It's a college bar at best, and a "god I wish we were still in college!" bar at the worst. Also, they recently stole a shirt design from an indie clothing company (after the indie gave a few shirts to the bartenders). Guess their business practices are as classless as their drinks.

I have been here twice so far for my best friend's birthday. They have a super nice bathroom attendant. I felt so bad that I could not tip her because I had no cash on me what soever. She deserves a raise! I had no idea that this type of place would even have a bathroom attendant. Next time, I'll make sure to stuff some cash in my dress as well. This place has a pretty cool atmosphere and I love going upstairs. This place is well kept. it is definitely an older crowd. College kids or people who still party like they are in college. Drinks were good. I had a fun night. No complaints here.

Came in a Sunday to enjoy bottomless mimosas with friends. All OJ, no champagne. Food is sub-par, typical bar food. My friend ordered the MAC-N-CHEESE- it looked like box Kraft Mac n Cheese, unfortunately Kraft may have more taste than IVY's rendition.

I've been to the Ivy on several occasions for work happy hours and for the first time, I visited it on a weekend in my free time. I must say, I enjoyed it. - COLLEGE BAR, BUT EASY ON THE POLOS. The fact that not all people were dressed exactly the same tells me that it's not as heavy on the frat grad scene as most of buckhead bars. Nonetheless, mostly everyone here was a recent graduate from UGA/Auburn/every other southern school in a business or communications major. Sure, I am profiling, but I can promise you with high likelihood that this is exactly the case for most of the crowd. There was also some number of people who seemed to be the affliction shirt wearing type that went to a community college and are nothing more than trust fund babies. - COOL SPACE - very big open rooms, tons of people having a good time and decently clean. Now, there was a few of those college bar elements where beer bottles are laying in the plant pots, but not overwhelmingly so. There are deer heads lining the hallways, nice decor and just a great design for a bar. - QUICK SERVICE - both the valet and the bartenders were quick. Loved that part, especially given how hopping the place was on a Saturday night.

I hate to write updates to a review - especially when the first two times were great. I recently went to The Ivy. I'm not sure what was going on. The valet wasn't there at opening...Maybe the server was new? He seemed confused and unsure how to respond to a lot of questions about the food and drinks. Typically, on a Sunday you can get a beer-mosa or a mimosa. He had no idea what a beer-mosa was. I don't recall if he ever got an answer if it was available. The food seemed subpar as well. Did not taste as great, it took forever for some of the groups food to come out. In fact, one order was forgotten. I probably will not return unless the waitress (Leah) I am confident with is there.

I am way old for the Ivy demographic ... and so is my husband ... but we live fairly close by and decided to give it a college try. A COLLEGE try. It is brimming with college/post-college age kids - most look like they are tailgating indoors. Occasionally a pink polo with seersucker shorts catches my eye "REALLY? We never saw this in LA?" So - why the four stars? Well, we like to stop in a watch college football and grab a drink before heading to dinner on Saturday night. It is an excellent way to spend "happy hour" - grab a drink and some light bites. The food is not bad and you can wear just about anything (seriously - folks in sweats, folks looking like they are part of a wedding party ...) You can always toss a few back and head to Johnny's Hideaway. Double the age of the Ivy's regulars. Lastly, you can opt to sit inside, outside, upstairs ... that is the nice thing - it offers variety.

Credit card users - beware! They have a tendency to double charge, or charge the incorrect amount of your bill so pay attention. I strongly recommend using only cash. Seems to be a lot of people fresh out of college, straight off frat row - be prepared for the type of behavior associated with an overly drunk, younger crowd, decked out in polos and monograms. Tends to be overrated - usually expect a great night of socialization, but more often than not, leave disappointed. My most enjoyable experience has been for mimosas on a Sunday, when the crowds are minimal and you can actually hold a conversation.

I give the Ivy only 2 stars simply because the demographics/crowd make up is not for the 21-23 African American male. We ended up here on a recent Saturday night for a birthday celebration. We were all dressed nice however, the Ivy (to me), is more like a country club. There were sperrys , tucked in polo shirts and khaki shorts everywhere. There was no cover charge so that was a good thing, because had I payed, I would have been mad. The music I would say is Top 40, mixed with some House music , which would have been okay, but no body was dancing. There was a lot of standing around mingling. Upstairs was sort of better, nice size dance floor but still more mingling than anything. After about an hour I was ready to go. The venue itself is actually very nice 5 stars, however for the type of crowd I was looking for, not really my speed.

Ha, I was pretty much gonna start out my review along the lines of Gretchen O.'s... I went at my friend's suggestion, we're both out of their "target demographic" (I'm in my 30s - he's...older!) But it was way better than I expected - of course, it WAS a Sunday afternoon, not a Saturday night!! Great service from the bartenders. Good beer and drink selection and if you're a football person there are enough TVs to satisfy you. Valet parking. I don't know that this is a place I'll go that often, but the menu looked good so for a weekend afternoon outing, I'm all in.

3 stars mostly for the atmosphere/environment. Service was pretty good too, although it wasn't too crowded when i was there. Food is good but nothing exceptional.

Got dragged here on a Friday night because my buds wanted to be here in a bad kinda way. So who am I to argue? This place is great in a post-college frat-tastic sorta way. Lots of smokin' hot young babes; however, decidely not much fun if you are over this unique niche of a bar scene (or have been tired of it for a long while). You get the idea. Anyway, I have never been a huge fan of the Buckhead bar scene at any rate (especially not the ones with a decidedly twenty-something ex frat / sorat crowd) But again, hey, that's just me. But I still get talked into going back from time to time. So I deal with it. I imagine most mainstream 20 somethings will just dig the hell out of this place for the nightlife / scenery / vibe apsect alone. Can't say much about the food though as I got here way past the grazing hour.

I love this place. I can walk to it from my house and they are always open - even when it snows! The food is great and very reasonable as are the drinks (especially for Buckhead). I absolutely love the decor in here and the fact that it's a "UGA" bar. Servers are always very friendly. I would, however not recommend going there late on a Friday or Saturday night since it gets so packed and both the bars are fairly small and it's often hard to get a drink. The best time in my opinion is for happy hour/dinner or brunch/lunch on the weekends.

Outstanding service & this place was packed on a Sunday afternoon. Great pub style food. We had fried pickles & chicken quesadillas that were very good. Cold beer, live music, who could ask for more. Don't let the valet parking fool you...this is a fun, laid back spot.

The Ivy has found its niche. Whether written two months or two years ago, the reviews on the clientele here still hold true. My bocce ball group have played at The Ivy for four Sunday afternoons. When I first walked in, I felt as though I entered a time warp back to my prep school days, though with an age group a few weeks out of college. This was confirmed talking to a teammate (we attended the same prep school) who informed me two tables on the patio were full of people who attended our prep school. Ah, the consistency of madras. Another teammate is a decade younger than the rest of us, and appears to be days away from establishing residency at The Ivy. Most Sunday afternoons, he regales us with his Ivy stories from that weekend which always have us in stitches. He is as tall as a basketball player and as youthfully good-looking, as evidenced by the fact he has been with more girls at The Ivy than I think I have kissed in my entire life. Good draft beers are $5, the bartenders on Sundays are friendly, and the food looks better than typical bar fare, though I haven't eaten it. The inside is dark and cool, the patio is warm and relaxing, and the bathrooms ain't bad. So long as you don't suffer from ageism, The Ivy is a good place to enjoy a relaxing Sunday with a drink and friends.

Came on a Saturday night during Labor Day weekend. There was no cover charge, score! Majority of the guys there were wearing SEC gear - UGA / Auburn collared shirt, khakis and sperrys with a cap. Some girls wore SEC gear with pom poms on the side of their shirts but a good chunk of them wore going out clothes. I like that this place has various rooms with different vibes/music. Warning: upstairs has no a/c! You will feel like you are taking bikram yoga. My group kept going back to the outdoor area to cool down. Drinks are around $7~ not bad. We had dinner at bar taco across the street, saved the receipt and put it on dashboard for free parking. 4 stars for a fun night!

You know what their burger was pretty damn good. Came for Sunday brunch and had their classic cheeseburger and it was delicious! Wasn't fancy by any means but it was amazing. I killed the whole thing and the fries :) Our server was really REALLY awesome as well! We had a nice rough evening before (bachelorette party) and he got us a bottle of champagne! All the servers were super nice too coming around asking if we were okay! Great spot!

Calling all 30-something guys that dress like they're 21 and still think they can pick up an 18 year old-I have found your home! Welcome to The Ivy! A restaurant by day, club/bar at night that still manages to charge a door fee just to watch a college football game in the middle of the day. I came here with a group of friends to watch the Georgia VS Auburn game and was surprised at the crowd. Foolishly, we paid $5 each to get in but they have a great patio and this is where everyone wanted to go. 2 drink minimum, 1 app per person minimum- you've been warned. Your waitress, Gidget, will remind you of this every hour on the hour as she eats stuff off your plate. Our waitress was MIA and rightfully so, the patio was full of Buckhead Daddy's and she was preoccupied by the OBGYN at the next table. I assume that was his job as he was literally in scrubs (yes, really) and our waitress was always bent over by his table. We had to go to the bar for refills and we got our own food from a different waitress who must've already had her yearly physical. At The Ivy you'll pay $9 for a mixed drink, $6 for a shot and $15 for an appetizer. But don't worry, if you sit the patio you have front row to the sad dating rituals of the Buckhead "elite." Don't know where to wear your new UFC shirt? Lost without the Bebe logo across your butt? Sad you can't function without lip synching like you're having a seizure to EVERY song on the radio? I've found your playground, Cox employees! Wear your dark sunglasses to people watch, pack your patience and leave your dignity and self esteem at the door and you're set. Just don't forget to check ID's if you want to bring a girl home. Just because they're wearing a college name across their chest doesn't mean they know how to spell it or that they know what city the school is in or that their old enough to go to that school. You've been warned. Dear Yvette-My group of 8 was charged a door charge. We were also informed there was a minimum drinks and minimum food order to stay for the entire 4 hour game. We were told the limits were in place due to the amount of people expected to come in the restaraunt to watch the game. Contrary to other Yelp reviews, I do not post inaccurate reviews of businesses. Minimum requirements for food and drink is expected in a lot of restaurants for sports events. With one of the biggest games of the season, it was not a surprise.

Multiple times, the bartenders have increased their tips on my bills. Is this common practice? Not very cool...borderline illegal.

We had a GREAT time here! I've only been here once at night when it was packed and decided to go for $12 Bottomless Mimosas. It was another great experience! The waitress was so kind and kept those Mimosas coming! We had a group of about 7 people and getting a table was no problem considering it was pretty packed for a Sunday at 2:30pm. They had a live band singing mostly 90s type music. They were so good and lots of people got up out of their seats to dance and sing along next to the band. Some customers actually went on stage to sing along with the band like karaoke. Unfortunately, this particular time I didn't eat food but my friends did. Their food looked amazing! The waitress highly recommended the Mac n cheese as a side so my friend ordered it. It's not your typical Mac n Cheese. As a matter of fact, it's penne pasta in a light cheese sauce which was very good! My other friend ordered this huge salad that came with pecans and strawberries. I will definitely be ordering food next time, since we already have plans to go back in the near future! It's a sports bar as well so there's a full bar and TVs everywhere. I recommend this restaurant for brunch and even dinner! Prepare yourself for a GREAT time!

Don't go for the food. Basically a post college bar. Sometimes a little too crowded. Good dance music. Be careful where you park across the street. Met the owner. He tried to pick up my girlfriend. I guess that is the life of a bar owner...Still, I like his place and will go again.

If your idea of a fun crowd is rude waitresses, disrespectful fratty dudebros and chicks wearing last night's outfit to brunch, The Ivy is the place for you! If you want mimosas made with decent champagne and orange juice, The Ivy is not the place for you.

#SUNDAYFUNDAY We were looking for a bottomless mimosas place to make up for the rain ruining our outdoor Sunday Funday plans. I had heard The Ivy was fun and had a band so we checked it out. We had a group of 7 people and although the restaurant was busy they were able to accommodate us right away. Our servers name was Leah and she was AMAZING! Be sure to ask for her. Right away she was telling us what was good on the menu, we didn't even have to ask! Our $12 bottomless mimosas + water were always full. The band was fun, though due to the weather they had to play inside and it was a bit loud. People were dancing, definitely a good time for a wild Sunday Funday. Not somewhere to bring the parents when they are visiting Atlanta though. I ordered a wrap and for my side I got the mac-n-cheese per the waitresses recommendation. It was amazing, white mac-n-cheese with a bit of spice to it. But, pretty rich, I couldn't eat it all. All-in-all most fun Sunday I've had in awhile and cannot wait to go back and will definitely be asking for Leah! *bottomless mimosas served until 5pm. Brunch menu ends at 3pm.

You know, I was expecting worse. I went here for an Alumni networking event and, always the outlier, 'twas concerned about 'fitting in' in this frat haven. Beer specials were freely known. Football remained the center of attention. Roll Tide.

Great Sunday brunch experience. The brunch menu is a perfect mix. We got the chicken biscuit with creole honey mustard and the chicken was perfect. Also shared the PB&J French toast - unreal. Perfectly done sourdough French toast, but wait, you slather some peanut butter and homemade blackberry preserves in the middle of the slices, top with powdered sugar, and dip each bite liberally in a delicious bourbon maple syrup. I didn't want it to end. Speaking of not ending, bottomless mimosas for $15. The math works if you can drink 3, and my money is on you doing better than that. Music was a little bit noisy indoors, patio could use more shade. Keeping it from 5 stars but a place I'll come back to for brunch any Sunday.

Police here are rude!! We wanted to go here for dinner. I was here with 2 beautiful young ladies. As the taxi brought us to the door, an Atlanta police officer hit the window of the taxi with his baton and shouted for us to keep moving. We decided to not eat here. I took a photo of the officer and he grabbed open the door of the taxi and asked if we took his photo (which is perfectly legal). We will never go here. I am filing a complaint with the Atlanta police department as well.

This place is pretty cool. At least for the space that was rent out for an event I attended here. It seems the crowd is mostly college-age folk or those still living the college life. Not quite a place I'd frequent due to the clientele, but their food was decent and the drink selection just okay.

The Ivy is the perfect place to kick back and relax. I would love to catch a college football game at the bar! They have amazing bar food and excellent beer choices. I went for the first time about a month ago and was not disappointed! The turkey bacon avocado wrap tasted delicious with my Blue Moon beer. I plan on going back for brunch sometime soon!

I went to The Ivy for the first time last Sunday for the NFL AFC championship game. When I arrived it was love at first site. I loved the outdoor bar area and the bocci ball court, the inside was also just as nice. The Ivy was extremely packed with mid twenty to thirty something's, and the DJ was playing the most current hits, all while the game was on. My friend and I found two seats at the bar to watch the game and qs introduced to the bartender Hunter who was awesome. Although The Ivy was extremely busy, Hunter was very attentive and gave us a warm welcome. We had a few drinks and scarfed down some sweet potato fries. It was an awesome time and I cannot wait to return!

I've become somewhat of a sunday regular in the past month. Due to my job I can't really come in through the week but Sundays at the Ivy are great. They have an excellent brunch menu and Felicia and Ben are always welcoming and crack me up. They know everyone there and introduced us to all of the other customers. Not to mention they have bottomless mimosas for 15$. Yes Please!!

Food here was merely ok. The space is decent, large with a few televisions. By all standards, this place is overrated. Men are not allowed to wear earrings after 11 p.m. I don't wear earrings, but that someone thought this should be a rule to be enforced is ridiculous to me on many levels. I would recommend that my friends stay far away from this place.

    (1)
  • Ed F.

Don't waste your time. Staff was indifferent at best and rude as a practice. The patio smelled like puke. While there were obnoxiously drunk, bathing suit wearing patrons yelling and bumping into people one of our friends was told he couldn't stay because he had an earring, unless he removed it. So bathing suits are acceptable attire but earrings are not. We thought the guy was joking, but he said "No, this is a private institution and we make our own rules." How about this? I am a private individual and I make my own rules. One rule is I won't ever go to The Ivy.

I've been to The Ivy numerous times. Each time after I leave early I always think maybe I'm having an off-night. Not too long ago my late night visit to grab a drink and be a social 20something was less than thirty minute stop. I was looked up and down upon entering like a criminal. I wasn't over it underdressed for this kind of frat fest so I was a bit put off by it. Not a minute inside a bachelorette with about six ladies in black surrounding her as she violently, drunkenly thrashed about before puking in the middle of the floor through both her hands and on a dear concerned party-goer. I turned around so fast and bolted for the opposite side of the room to wait for my friends to walk by or show up. I ordered a gin and tonic and was served a well-vodka soda. Look, I know this isn't a classy joint regardless of decor, $5 mandatory parking, and a line longer than opening day of Superman at SixFlags--but I'm a bartender. I ENJOY alcohol. I know you have at least 2 different types of gin besides the cheapest. I will pay for what kind of hangover I want the next day. I tried to get another with tonic but a tall group of burly polo wearing guys who were all very nice looking approached the bar and her attention was diverted. I don't hold it against her, but instead drank the plastic cup of flat vodka-water. Short trip to the bathroom which was tragic, a couple was in a huge fight outside the door and she refused to open the door to the bathroom. Man I wished I hadn't drank anything at all. After about 10 minutes I gave up and met up with my friend walking inside. Unfortunately she stepped in the barrel of bachelorette up chuck and was fuming before I could tell her to watch out. Needless to say the experience was continually worse from the jump. To top it off, a different bartender give me a solid F-you eye roll because I asked to close my tab. Sorry I want to pay you and blow this joint. Sucked completely. Don't think I'd return if the food, drink, and parking were free. It's is a super awesome frat bar right out of Athens if you miss college, don't own a suit, and don't appreciate alcohol, a solid cleaning crew, and just the tiniest sliver of a classy atmosphere. I've been to this place a few times and either myself or friends have been over charged. The bill is fine, but a few days later when we check the credit card statement the waitress or bartenders tip themselves a lot more. Last time, I was there for a $40 brunch tipped the waitress $7 ...checked my cc statement the next day and they had tipped themselves $75. The restaurant is nice but it's not worth the headache of trying to get your money back!

If you're looking for a good restaurant, I'd say look elsewhere. But, if you're looking for a good time, the Ivy is a great option.

I love the Ivy. Mind you, I am a 24 year old woman but whatever, this is the spot. I love sitting on the patio during the day in beautiful weather, watching football, and meeting friends here at night. It is also a quick stumble from Johnnys Hideaway if you are trying to get really weird, just saying.

  • Business T.

Fratastic. Unless you wear extremely short pastel colored shorts with the "southern swoop" and a Masters Visor. You are an outcast. It smells, the floor is so sticky, and the "bro's" are a bit overwhelming. Only plus is, for some reason I cannot understand, this is where the best looking single girls in ATL go. But they are all gold digging ditz's for sure. Don't waste your time.

I spent the NYE night here and it was a place that needs renovation and work. Whomever owns this place did a nice job at putting lipstick on this pig. If you go there for lunch or just to sit around it might not be that bad but be warned the building itself has some structural work that needs to be done and what the people have placed over it looks nice but will soon show wear and tear. It was not worth the cover to get in and they seemed ill prepared to handle the crowd. The people were nice enough be they were obviously over tasked. There was also a terrible leak in the ceiling of the lower section that was coming from the bar on the top half. This place needs to be closed for maintenance and reopened. In my opinion I would not waste money going here unless you are just going for lunch. If they charge a cover look somewhere else.

Typical Buckhead bar scene. Nice big venue to meet friends at and valet had great service. Drinks weren't too bad, but it's a lil too homogeneous for me to make it a regular spot. Would go again to meet friends in town, but i personally like smaller less manufactured bars. Overall- meh...

  • Steven S.

Disgusting. I could stop there but I might as well give you some insight. We knew this was a "fraternity bar" before we arrived, but that having been said, that doesn't excuse how disgusting that place is. It's a nice looking bar: very cool, old feel with a nice flow but the people & staff RUIN this place. When you walk in, there is so much garbage (napkins, cups, food) on the ground & no one is making any attempt to clean it up. The staff does NOT care about the guests. My cousin (a guy) tried to get a mixed drink & some d-bag bartender ignored him THREE TIMES to chat with some ladies before he finally made his rum & coke. We went upstairs & so many drunk people were falling over themselves & one guy just puked all over the place & walked away. When we went back downstairs, A STAFF MEMBER stopped right in front of us & blew a huge snot rocket on the ground!!! WHO DOES THAT???!!!...my cousin then used the bathroom & watched a guy PISS ALL OVER THE FLOOR & walk back out...at this point, we cut our losses, threw our drinks away & walked out. I've been to "dive" bars & college bars...this place is a joke. The people are post-college losers that are living in the past, the staff does not care at all & it's literally disgusting...also, valet parking is 5 bucks...lame. I will never, ever be back.

I kind of love The Ivy. Most of my friends hate it though. It's a bunch of fresh out of SEC college kids hanging out here. If you're not into polo shirts and sundresses, then stay far, far away. If you hung out at City Bar of General Beauregard's in Athens, then this is where you graduate to as a grown up (even though a lot of their patrons probably still live at home with mom and dad). It's relatively cheap, a hell of a lot nicer than all the hole in the wall Buckhead bars, has a huge outdoor patio, and quite frankly being asked out by a 22 year old my last time there was a huge ego boost. Call me a cougar in training but I'm a fan!

    (4)
  • Kelly S.

We went in just recently on New Year's Day to watch football. Just like the other reviews said, it is a pretty good scene of SEC school grads and 20 somethings. I'm not too far out of college so I thought it was a good mix. The atmosphere was nice. It wan't super clean, but then again it is a bar. We were starving and ordered some food. Which took a long time to come out to the table and was pretty disappointing. They have decent prices on beer and drinks for the Buckhead area. Our server wasn't all that fabulous, but I will give her pass since New Year's Day is one of the most hungover days of the year. So all in all I would go back again. I probably wouldn't eat anything though.

I don't think the Ivy is all it's cracked up to be. The bar draws a younger crowd of college students and twenty somethings...many of whom rave about the spot. But I haven't been all that impressed the few times that I've been there. First of all, it's kind of an awkward location. It's just far enough from the other Buckhead bars that you would need to drive or get a cab to go from one spot to the other. The only other nightlife spot near the Ivy is Johnny's hideaway. Tin Lizzy's is around the corner if you're up for a little walk. I would probably be more likely to visit the Ivy if it were closer to the other bars. They have a lovely outdoor patio with cornhole sets and a gazebo-style bar. This outdoor area is the best place to hang when you're at the Ivy on a nice summer night. The inside is a bar. That's about all I can say to describe it. It's kind of tough to maneuver around the large wooden bar. There are a few tables beyond the bar by the kitchen, but the social crowd lingers around the bar. The scene is filled with polo shirts, Sperry shoes, and pastels...even after dark. I felt like people had their cliques and groups, and they weren't really looking to mingle beyond their respective companions. A night at the Ivy makes me feel like I'm back in college at a frat party. This can be fun and amusing every now and then, but I don't think I could ever become a regular. A parting tip: Order the mojito. It's fresh, strong, and delicious.

One of my favorite nightlife spots. Food is good for a bar. Cool people. Great patio. Variety of spaces. Young professionals / SEC alumni, so if you're not into that scene, maybe not you're best spot.

Absolutely terrible. The atmosphere and staff are far from acceptable. If you are pledging for a fraternity... this IS your spot. If you have any self-respect, dignity, class... keep moving.

We come to Buckhead often, and we are always looking for new places to have a few after dinner drinks. We came to the Ivy, looking for a new place, but were quite disappointed. We ordered drinks, then were told shortly thereafter that the seat we chose 5 min prior was not available any longer and we needed to move. Despite the fact we just purchased our drinks a few min ago, we were told we could no longer sit in the seat we found when we arrived. After speaking with the manager, he told us we were welcome to sit elsewhere, but we were basically not welcome in our original seats. I understand businesses are at the discretion of the fire marshal; however, if that were the issue, we should have been informed before purchasing our drink that we were not allowed to sit down. Won't be back.

First impression wasn't good. They charge for valet and the valet dude wasn't welcoming at all. Hostess just say there hunched over not really engaged. The waiter was good and attentive but the food was dry and had way too much sauce on it. Prolly won't go back. Too many other places in Buckhead to go to instead.

Living right around the corner from The Ivy it is a good place for me to walk when I want a drink, problem is I not 25 so The Ivy just doesn't appeal too much to me. I've been to The Ivy several times since moving back to Buckhead, often times it has been crowded and at other times it has been dead. I think I like going in there more so when it is dead or has a moderate crowd, as some of the young 20 something year old kids can be a pain in the ass when trying to enjoy a nice cold beverage. With that said, there are some that ok and pretty cool, but there are a lot of them in there trying to be all "Buckhead" with their daddy's credit card and their preppy attire. The service here can be hit or miss no matter the size of the crowd. I've had excellent service for the most part when I have been here, but my last journey here the place was dead and we had to wait a while before the bartender came over to take our drink order; maybe he was outside smoking or firing up a dubee. I have only ate at The Ivy once, and ordered the steak quesadillas. They were ok, but the menu pretty much sports mainly basic bar food as they make most of their money off drinks at night and on the weekends. Personally this is not my bar of choice, although it does have a lot of potential considering the location and the layout of the bar.

This is a super college/post-college ish kind of area. Easy, free parking if you decide to park right across the street. Just another bar in a different area. The dance floor is right next to the bar so it gets pretty crowded...not my kind of scene. Thankfully they have a patio as well.

I am a big fan of The Ivy Buckhead. The patio is huge and even when its packed, you can still move around. The upstairs bar area is really nice, even the outdoor upstairs patio is. This is such a good place to hang out with friends and watch football, especially on Sunday when they have bottomless mimosas. The food is great too - burger, chips and dip, nachos, sandwiches..I've had it all. I'm a huge fan of their drink - not sure the name of it - Kill Cliff Energy Drink, Dragonberry Rum and a splash of cran. mmm!

Great spot!

Don't go for the food. Basically a post college bar. Sometimes a little too crowded. Good dance music. Be careful where you park across the street. Met the owner. He tried to pick up my girlfriend. I guess that is the life of a bar owner...Still, I like his place and will go again.

If your idea of a fun crowd is rude waitresses, disrespectful fratty dudebros and chicks wearing last night's outfit to brunch, The Ivy is the place for you! If you want mimosas made with decent champagne and orange juice, The Ivy is not the place for you.

  • Amelia J.

I've been here once before. It's a college bar at best, and a "god I wish we were still in college!" bar at the worst. Also, they recently stole a shirt design from an indie clothing company (after the indie gave a few shirts to the bartenders). Guess their business practices are as classless as their drinks.

Roll Tide.

PASS

Fantastic place to meet friends for drinks and catch a few sports scores. Spacious, segmented areas. Drinks were mixed well and the crowd was of great taste and size as the night wore on. Two thumbs up!

Good service and standard bar food. Valet parking or you can park at the strip malls on either side and take a short walk. Off nights tend to be empty. Drinks run about what they would elsewhere and OK selection.

As if the Fratastic crowd & the Sorostitutes aren't bad enough... I'm pretty sure the the food is the worst I've ever had as is the service. I'm just too old & too picky for this crap

Ignore the clientele, and this place is awesome. But here's a quote for a taste of the local men: "You're hammered and you've got shit all over your shirt." And overheard from the ladies: "I remember why I'm single." BUT....Wednesdays is "ladies night," meaning half-off everything on the menu for the women, so I guess you take the good with the bad.

We went here for happy hour last Friday and had a great time. There was plenty of parking (valet came later) and the patio was a huge plus. It was really nice to just sit on the patio, relax, and drink wine. Their house wine (Rex Goliath, I think) was good and well-priced at $5/glass. Our server was fun to talk to and did a good job of making sure we had everything we needed without being overbearing. Overall, The Ivy is a great place for happy hour, but it definitely draws a 5 Paces type of crowd at night. The upstairs isn't finished yet, and I don't think it will be for awhile, but it sounds like it will be a great spot for events. I didn't find a website for The Ivy, so I'm guessing that they're still working on that. I'll be back for their patio alone- I hope that they get heaters out there now that the weather is cooling down!

I paid this place a visit a couple of weeks ago prior to downing half a can of FourLoko... and a couple of shots of vodka along with a couple of beers which was a bad idea. Anyway post pre-gaming, we headed here while it started pouring which was also a bad idea as there was a super long line past their awning which took about 30mins to get through. Once inside the place was blaring the latest music you would hear on 95.5 the beat along with some alternative music sprinkled in. The bars were incredibly crowded and a little hard to get the bartenders attention, prob took about a few minutes to get our drinks served. Their bathrooms were surprisingly clean considering the large crowd that they were serving, so I was impressed with that. The dance floor was pretty big and honestly this place is just made for that... dancing, at least after midnight when I came in. One word that would probably describe this place would be fratastic. The crowd was more for those in their early to mid 20s who were more interested in drinking like a fish and dancing the night away. But honestly, I had a great time especially if you are trying to go for a night of drunken debauchery.

Order something fried. I suggest the Tempura Portobella Mushroom Caps, but swap out whatever sauce the menu suggests for their Mojo Aioli. Actually, regardless of your order, ask for a side of the Mojo Aioli - it's awesome. Their chicken fingers are also amazing. The "moist" and "juicy" chicken is encased in some kind of breaded, deep-fried nonsense reminiscent of funnel cakes. I know that sounds weird in theory, but in practice...delicious The pizza is also worth having. Their $4 slices are 1/4 of a full pie, and that is not an exaggeration. Of course, any pizza is tons better if you order the entire thing, and not just a slice..I recommend The Ivy, which has sausage and mushrooms and peppers and something else - maybe another meant? They don't have a menu online. It can get really crowded, but it has the space to accommodate it. The service is decent and I'm sure will only improve. My favorite serve is Kanzone - he is awesome.

In the interest of full disclosure, a friend of mine is a part owner of The Ivy. Despite that, I can honestly say my experience deserves five stars. I went for dinner on a Friday night. The food was incredible. I had a chicken sandwich that was far from a typical bar chicken sandwich. The sandwich was phenomenal. I asked for side salad instead of fries with little hope for anything more than a lame iceberg salad. To my surprise they brought a great side salad with good leafy greens. My friend had a burger - he said it was the best he has had in a long time. Massive flat screens are within view of all seating areas, so I think it would be a great spot for football. The interior is awesome - black walnut drapes the walls making for a sort of upscale trendy cabin feel in the dining area. PS: Park across the street if you're like me and hate valets.

I really liked this place more for the people watching the anything else.. I wish I could give it a 3.5. The service was really good. It was super packed with 23 and 24 year olds watching the SEC championship game. I bet the percentage of people with fraternity tattoos on their ankle was in the 90's. Full disclosure in that I was a Sigma Chi in college. Here is what you need to know: If you don't want to valet park across the street in the shopping center and walk over This place is definitely for every sorority/fraternity dude in a 50 mile radius of Atlanta. If you are in town and want to find that crowd, then go here. Spectacular people watching. I can remember when I thought it was cool to be super loud and obnoxious. It's deifnitely funny watching the girls trying to stop their boyfriends from flirting with cougars. Girls running daddys credit card. Every guy looking to fight somebody. It's bar food. Don't expect anything else. I think my friends ordered nachos and fries. All in all it's not a bad spot. I'd go back, but just realize what you are getting into when you go.

The crowd was a little preppy for my tastes, but give me a good deal and a decent bartender and I'm happy. $10 bottles of wine on Thursday? Done! Additional half off because of scoutmob...Done and Done! The atmosphere was of the upbeat happy hour for the business crowd variety plus a few small groups of guys watching the basketball games. The guy with the guitar in the corner had to compete with the noise, but he was good when I could hear him. The big tables looked like they could accommodate a crowd. I can see Friday afternoon happy hour with the gals from work in my future!

I went to The Ivy last night for the first time. I read several reviews before going, so my friend and I shared the fried mushroom caps for an appetizer then we both ordered burgers and fries for our meal. I was very happy that Rex Goliath is their house Cab. The mushroom caps were delicious (but super greasy, even for fried food), and the burger was good. I wouldn't rank it "best in Atlanta" though. The fries looked like they were going to be delicious, but I was disappointed. The texture was kind of weird. The service was good, and the clientele didn't bother me. I went to UGA and was not part of the greek scene. True to most places in Buckhead, there were frat boys and rednecks, but the place wasn't overrun with either. Granted it was only 7:00 on a Friday night, but everyone was well-behaved. The one thing that disappointed me is the ambiance/atmosphere. The inside isn't as nice as I expected based on the pictures. Since we were just going to dinner and not "a night out" I wore jeans. I would probably return for a casual meal, but it's not a place I'd go to for celebration dinner with friends. For a place with a valet, I was expecting the restaurant to be a little more up-scale.

good service, good food, good beer selection... a definite go to spot. the bit more upscale decor inside makes for an elevated experience accented with a nicer dressed clientele and new flat screen TVs. outside is a nice patio area with a cash-only bar (a good place to grab a drink a little faster). the downside, all of the things i said above leads to a bit of crowd on Thursdays (live band), Fridays and Saturdays. make sure to ask the waitresses/bartenders for the daily special.

I don't know what it is but lately, I have come across some of the worst service in the Atlanta area. I came to the Ivy for happy hour on Friday. I was with a bunch of girls and we all decided to get food around dinner time. I recommend anyone who does not have it - download the 'ScoutMob' iPhone application... it's the best. We received 50% of our entire check which I think substitutes the terrible service here. Ok, back to the review. There is a variety of food choices here... a number of us ordered salads which were delicious. I had the spring rolls which were equally as awesome. My largest complaint is that they screwed the orders up and forgot to put chicken on a number of our salads so they had to send each of them back. While waiting for those chicks to cook, our waitress continued bringing out food separately. I have learned this is a large pet peeve of mine...unless all orders are ready at the same time, please keep them in the back. I hate eating around others who are equally as starving as I am. I would NOT recommend getting the calamari... one word - YUCK. They served it in this spicy mayo that was like watered down battered... it was so gross. They have a decent happy hour crowd, a patio to sit outside, and a cool lounge/bar atmosphere inside. While I may try other places to grab a dinner bit, I could definitely see myself coming here on a weekend night for drinks which I have always heard has a good crowd.

The Ivy is only getting 1 star from me, and i'm being NICE. My fiancé and I went for a nice lunch and were ignored completely for 20 minutes. We watched as 2 teenagers who worked there came up to where we were and were bringing chairs up and re-arranging tables. We didn't hear not once "we'll be with you shortly or we'll be with you in a minute." Too young to care. The food is good, but definitely not worth putting up with poor service. Our waitress looked like she'd been smoking meth in the back, and hadn't had a shower in 5 days. No thanks, I'll take my business elsewhere.

We went to The Ivy for lunch with friends and found both the food and the service to be excellent! We had warms chips with choice of salsa, cheese or guacamole dips, all homemade and all delicious. Three of us had hamburgers and one had the grilled chicken sandwich which sounds like standard fare, but were uniquely seasoned and sauced. Everyone loved their food and would return.

Went there with Chicks in Atlanta meetup. The area we were in was really small. It felt like bumper cars. But it was a great event. Then we heard the band warming up so we went out and mingled. The crowd was the typical guys of atlanta . lol so if you dont look like a million dollars you know how it goes. Thats the only down fall. Great food great service

I used to like it here and used to have fun but lately it has become worse. I went last Friday and had a horrible time. I am used to buckhead bars having managers who tell DJs not to play hip hop until a later time time in the night - but this was just ridiculous. The DJ was told that he couldn't play any kind of popular music until 1am. I nicely asked the new manager/owner why and he said it was because he was looking for a very "specific demographic" to be his customers and that he didn't want an "urban crowd". Excuse me... BUT regardless of race, age, or how "urban" you are - people in Atlanta like hip hop and popular music. There is only so much 80's music and dated 90s rock bands one can stand. Other bars in Buckhead play hip hop and I dont see an "urban crowd" there. They are just as preppy. I have a feeling that The Ivy is going down hill and they are going to lose money fast if they don't cater to age people who like to party and continue to discriminate.

I went here for me and my twins birthday... And I guess the server (jessica) only thought it was my twins birthday cuz she pretty much ignored me most of the night... I had a good time besides the white racist drunk dude that sat wit our group randomly... We told him he could sit and tried to shake his hand and he looked at us like we were diseased... At the end my older sister wanted to pay for everything so we gave her the tickets and she put them in one book with the card... Being a dated gesture our server didnt understand this and came to my boyfriend with an attitude saying "you need to pay this" because she wanted to get off and drink... I went off on her and told her dnt get an attitude u were supposed to run the card for each ticket... And she quickly recanted... I almost pulled the manager because he was very generous to us and gave us a discount but I decided to just let it go... Go place overall... The manager said it was a new staff but I know good service having served at fine dining for 3yrs

Went last night with a friend for the first time...nice place, HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!...Free valet parking from what I hear (though we parked across the street in the shopping plaza), no cover (ever), $3.50 for Budlights and some of the best looking girls I've seen at any bar/club in Atlanta...Nice big bar inside (had no trouble ordering drinks, and I'm black), nice big patio outside with a flat-screen, plenty of seating thats great for people-watching (mainly the girls)....Havent eaten there yet, but I will...Would agree with some other reviews that it does seem like a place where alot of ex-fraternity/sorority people would go, but I'm an alumni of TTKA Delta Iota chapter from Marshall University, so I can't really criticize. Not a bad thing, I'm just trying to get away from that crowd...I also would agree with another reviewer that almost every guy in the place was wearing a different color polo shirt...Honestly though, I loved the place!!...I will definently be going back more often, especially when the weather warms up and post-up on the patio...HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!, plenty of female eye-candy...

  • Em K.

  • Nate D.

good service, good food, good beer selection... a definite go to spot. the bit more upscale decor inside makes for an elevated experience accented with a nicer dressed clientele and new flat screen TVs. outside is a nice patio area with a cash-only bar (a good place to grab a drink a little faster). the downside, all of the things i said above leads to a bit of crowd on Thursdays (live band), Fridays and Saturdays. make sure to ask the waitresses/bartenders for the daily special.

One of my favorite nightlife spots. Food is good for a bar. Cool people. Great patio. Variety of spaces. Young professionals / SEC alumni, so if you're not into that scene, maybe not you're best spot.

I'm a huge fan of their drink - not sure the name of it - Kill Cliff Energy Drink, Dragonberry Rum and a splash of cran. mmm!

Good service and standard bar food. Valet parking or you can park at the strip malls on either side and take a short walk. Off nights tend to be empty. Drinks run about what they would elsewhere and OK selection.
