Tofu Dhanshag. I had to force myself to stop stuffing this, rice and naan down my throat. I was so full, it felt like I was going to bust from the inside out. The spiciness was perfect and the blend of seasonings make this one of the best dishes I've ever eaten at an Indian spot which is really surprising because of the location. Ethnic eateries tend to be better when they are located near the community of their own people...Niramish really made that a nice surprise. Bad naan, too thick, is always a deal breaker but theirs was great and it wasn't greasy. The rice was perfect. The service is very attentive and friendly. We have eaten there twice and the same people have been working there a very long time.

After having friends rave about Niramish, we thought we had a good go-to Indian place to try when we moved into the neighborhood, so tonight we ordered it for delivery. The delivery was ahead of schedule (this never happens, and it's awesome when it does) and we were super hungry, so great timing. The delivery guy was super nice and thoughtful. That was about where the greatness stopped. The food wasn't bad. It wasn't good either. It just was. It's like going on an ok-cupid date with a guy who is a fine person, tells a good joke at some point in the date, maybe even picks up the check...but who ultimately you're not excited about, and don't care to date again. I wanted to like it, but the korma was rather bland, along with the wings we ordered and the chicken tikka biryani. Granted, we have super high standards for Indian food after living off of Buford Highway for years (Hello, Heart of India!!!!), but we didn't expect things to be so different here.

Do you enjoy having to haggle and beg for your food? If so, order online, and have a nice gentleman show up asking how many people live in the home. Strange, I thought that I had to pay based on what I ordered and the menu. But this only has a distant relation to what was actually demanded at the doorstep. Instead of spending $80, spend $5 on Uber to go to Publix and have a much better experience, with no haggling!

Tried this place over the weekend while cruising GrubHub for some delivery, and I am very satisfied with the results. The vegetable samosa was very tasty. The tarka dal was delicious, and passed the leftovers test with flying colors (it was even more tasty later)! Naan had a good buttery flavor without being drippy and greasy. My mango lassi held up well in the delivery, something I wasn't really sure would happen. Since the inaugural delivery run was successful, I imagine I'll be going that route again, and possibly even putting on pants and venturing into the actual restaurant sometime.

Horrible food with unattantive waiters. Ordered paneer Tikka Masala that came with uncooked gravy. Not worth a single star.

Niramish is usually very good. Sometimes they are stingy with the meat portions (especially for the price you pay). Try the chicken vindaloo, mushrooms with lamb and shaag ponir. Those are amazing! We have had some dishes that are nothing to write home about, but we keep on ordering.

Ordered Indian food for delivery via Grubhub last night - and Niramesh made my not so good, pretty bad day so much better! My order was packaged exquisitely with no spills, and learning how to eat the panni puri was a treat unto its self. Just reheated leftovers and I'm still so pleased I tried this place. The garlic naan, samosas and pakoras were average, the lentil soup a little bland, and the mint sauce seemed to be spoiled. Other than than. My veg curry and rice was perfectly spiced and more delicious today.

I have to give Niramish mixed reviews. The service was superb, but several menu items left something to be desired. My mango lassi was thin in consistency and inexplicably light on mango flavor. The beverage was lukewarm despite the fact that there were several ice cubes in the glass. I tried to cool it by swirling my straw to mix the temperatures but it didn't work. The lamb curry was seasoned well and the platter of rice that came with it was steamed with bay leaf and cumin seeds. Usually restaurants just serve plain rice so that was a nice touch. It meant that every bite I took was flavored with either lamb, curry or rice spices. My side of naan was really good--buttery and flat with crispy air pockets. The entrée was a home run. The rice pudding was a different story. It looked like regular rice pudding, but it was not appetizing. It tasted like someone poured in half a bottle of raisin extract and added spoiled milk instead of cream. I couldn't eat more than a spoonful so the waiter comped it. That was disappointing. Service is probably the reason I'd dine at Niramish again. The waiter was extremely polite. My glass of water never got more than halfway empty before he topped it off again. Two other gentlemen checked in a few times to make sure everything was ok with the meal. Next time I'll be sure to only order an entrée.

Quite disappointed. Worst Mango Lassi ever. It was so watery, I mean who puts a cold drink in plastic bowl (see pictures)? I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala, the Lassi, plain and garlic Naan to be delievered to my room at the W Midtown. The Naans pretty were good. The Chicken Masala was barely eatable. Don't order here if you are hungry. I waited over an hr for my food(even though my hotel was about 2 miles away) and it wasn't worth the wait. You know how truly horrible food is if you complain about it while hungry. Most of this meal went to waste, a first for me... :(

I have not been inside the L5P location of Niramish, but I have ordered delivery from the so many different times. They have amazing vegetarian selections and they know how to properly spice their food. The best price/taste Indian food in the area for delivery!

  • Bree B.

Had two of their favorites the tikki masala and saag panner, both were the worst I've ever had. Trader joes brand was more flavorful. Also took 80+ min to get food. Won't be ordering again.

Great tasting traditional food. Cozy place to dine in, and great for take out too! The service is always excellent despite it being very busy with lots of customers. The flat pieces of naan bread, cooked perfectly at very high heat are often beautiful, with the charring that may remind you of a fluffy pizza crust. Vegetarians must have the vegetable korma!

I have never eaten inside the establishment, I've only had it delivered from grubhub. The food never disappoints, whenever we order we always do the happy food dance. The spices, flavors and texture are a bold symphony in your mouth and your wallet will sing too!! Try it!!

Located in Little 5 points Niramish is a small and cozy Bengali restaurant that serves Indian/Bengali foods. For an appetizer we ordered the Pani Puri dish and taste wise it was unlike any other Pani puri I've had before it was a bit too salty and the chick-pea filling was not that good. For the main course I had Chicken Tikka Masala and it was not like i expected but still good nonetheless. Instead of being creamy and saucy it was more thick and paste like but that doesn't mean it was not good. Flavor wise it was tasty and both me and my friend enjoyed it. As far as an Indian/Bengali restaurant goes its not the best you could find in Atlanta but the service is very attentive and kind. The waiters/owner filled our glasses with water very often and checked on us and towards the end of our dining one of the staff not sure if he is the owner actually spoke with us for a few minutes about people in the community and things we have in common as both me and my friend are Muslim and both know many Bengalis. Overall it was a great dining experience and were it for the service and attentiveness itself I would give 5 stars but the food just did not meet that standard. And one plus they gave me and my friend a to-go cup of rice pudding dessert each which was really nice and appreciated!

Great Indian food here. And their mango lassi is DELICIOUS. no other lassi from any other place compares. Some are too sour and tangy but they make theirs super savory and sweet. Must try. I also got chicken curry, jasmine rice and naan. All very delicious. Try to call in to order if you want to take out the food. Takes a little bit of time. Worth it tho

  • Maek J.

Ordered birani lamp and tandoori chicken. First if all the briani had lamp chunks and the tandoori had chicken with bones, which is the other way around. Briani had few pieces of meat, and tandoori tasted awful, who puts sautéed vegetables on tandoori? The 2 orders rang up a $35 tab totally bad experience.

Little Five Points is cool, and it's cool to eat Indian food, therefore Niramish is cool. The food is done well, great takes on the Indian standards with a lot of vegetarian options. Service is fine, prices are reasonable. There are many better Indian restaurants in Atlanta, so I wouldn't drive to L5P specifically to eat there, i would definitely stop in if in the area, and in the mood for some cool Indian food,

I'm new to Atlanta and I'm always open to good Indian food.. Me and my cousin stopped by this restaurant for lunch the other day and it was really good!! They prepare the food fresh once you order, so it does take a little bit to actually get your food, but it was well worth the wait!! We ordered the chicken tikka Marsala, spinach w/ cheese, garlic naan and I was was pleased that each entree included a side of basmati rice or you can pay $2 extra for brown rice.. Overall the waiter was friendly, good energy, very clean place and the prices were comparable to what I'm used to paying for Indian food..

This place is really good. I love Indian food and have been to a few places that are eh mediocre. We had chicken vindaloo (perfectly spicy- like I like it) and dhanshag (sweet and savory). And, of course, a side of garlic naan. Definitely coming back to try some of their other items from their menu! And the service was great! Quick and friendly and helpful! It was a great experience! Oh! And to top it off, we got rice pudding...on the house! Perfect way to end my weekend!

The only reason I can't give it 5 stars is because they don't serve alcohol. The food was great! My boyfriend and I new to Indian Food but I wanted something spicy. We ordered a couple of the shrimp dishes the server recommended and naan. We loved it! They also gave us a free desert. Definitely recommend.

  • Colleen M.

Very good Indian food....You can tell time is spent preparing it with layers of flavor as if someone spent all day making it. The service was impeccable and friendly. I live very far away from here but will make special trips to visit this establishment. I highly recommend.

The food here seems somewhat hit or miss. The flavors of the dishes are somewhat different from the standard Indian fare, so even though they offer tikka masala and other traditional dishes, they will be somewhat different than you expect. We ordered garlic naan, which was delicious, chicken tikka masala which was good, creamy with a fairly strong tomato flavor, potatoes and spinach (forget the indian name) which was ok, and the Niramish special which had a strange gelatin texture and was very spicy despite asking for medium. The rice was perfect, and they do free refills. I have to agree with other reviewers that the service was very good. They do not offer hot spiced chai, but ended up making some special just for us, and it was rich and creamy. While the waiter pulled some restaurant taboos (reaching across the table), you could tell he really wanted us to enjoy our meal. If you live nearby, it may be worth checking out.

I have been into Niramish twice and have been ordering takeout from there since I've lived in Atlanta. They are one of the few places that finds my apartment, which is a miracle, and they have great, polite customer service. They are incredibly attentive, as most people just order their food to go, so it's never that busy inside the restaurant. Some might even say they're a little too attentive, but I don't mind and appreciate the effort. I love their garlic naan and chicken tikka masala! The perfect amount of spiciness!

  • Amber N.

This is the closest Indian place to my house and the food is great but I've nearly stopped going because of the service. The only way I can explain it is controlling and stressful. The staff is often fighting. I'd go for take-out if you wanna enjoy the very good food.

Ordered Niramish last night for dinner and it was delicious! I ordered via the "Eat" app and the process was Sooo simple. I picked a time for delivery and not only did it arrive on time, but the driver also sent me a text letting me know he was on his way. Everything I ordered was delicious so here's the list: Saag Paneer, Garlic Naan, Indian Hot Chicken Curry with Basmati, Niramish Style Chicken Wings, (So sorry I can't remember the name but I ordered them Hot...amazing!) Raita & Rice Pudding for dessert. This is the first time I've tried Indian cuisine in Atlanta and I am very pleased and can't wait to try more from the menu. Please do not change Chefs, EVER!

Don't expect much. It's Little 5 Points people, not 5-star dining. Your not paying for ambience, just good food. I find that their food is much more flavorful than most of the other Indian restaurants in the area. If you want to drive out to North Druid Hills area, you might find better but you'll be paying a lot more too. I always order the Lamb Vindaloo. Not into spicy? Try the Shrimp Passanda which is a slightly sweet dish. I love their different versions of naan bread and the sauces to go with it. You gotta try the mango chutney with the plain naan. The garlic naan is gonna leave your breath funky, but worth it. All yum! The service is simple but prompt and best of all... They deliver!

Torn between a two and three. Going up to three based on service, not yumminess. So my pal picked this place, random groupon selection based on our wanting somewhere with vegetarian options. So this place was pretty empty, only us and one other table for a pretty late lunch. That being said, it looks like they do a serious takeout and maybe delivery. Service was impeccable. Our server was almost over charming...he definitely knows how to upsale...everything! He got us on mango lassi to start and proceeded from there. The lassis were a super bright orange, uber thick but somehow they weren't cold at all. Flavor was tasty, but the warmth kinda ruined it for me. Warm thick yogurt- yuck....that took away from the refreshment. Server got us suckered into some samosas, which actually turned out to be quite tasty: served up piping hot and virtually greaseless. Anywho, we ended up getting a mixed tandoori platter to share...came with chicken, lamb, shrimp and salmon. So much for vegetarian! This arrived sizzling and steaming hot, lots of grilled onions at the bottom...yum. Super waiter advised that we squeeze lime all over for the best flavor and he was right. It did add an extra element of flavor, but it couldn't do anything to right the chewiness of the lamb or the overdone salmon. We wanted an order of naan, quickly upsold to a fancier version...this one with cheese and onion, that was tasty, but I could totally make do with the plain. Raita...weird texture and color. Would definitely pass on that. It was almost gelatinous. All in all, not bad. Wouldn't go out of my way to rush back, but it could get the job done if I was in the neighborhood.

Everything about this place was fair. My partner and I tried it out last night for the first time and while it was satisfying enough, it didn't impress enough that we would come back soon. The best part may be that they are open until 11 pm, after many businesses in town no longer serve food and that they also deliver for free in a 3 mile radius. Many of the staff are also actually from Bangladesh and are very friendly. The food came out fairly quickly which was good. The pricing is also fair. We spent about $22 for take out food including two dinners which come with rice, and some Garlic Nan bread -that's about what I would expect this sort of thing to cost. However, this price also reflects a 25% discount for ordering it to go. The portions are also fair, but not large. The area for most improvement in my opinion is the food. As others have commented, the nan was ok, but a bit too chewy and not the very fluffy difficult to stop eating type. It can be difficult to find good veggie options when dining out and Niramish has a good selection (as most decent Indian places offer). However, the motor ponir makhani (a green peas with tomato buttery cream sauce) did not live up to expectations. There wasn't a huge amount of flavor except spicy, and this is after we actually clarified whether medium meant "white people medium spicy or Indian medium spicy?" The spice was tolerable but more than we would have wanted (and we are not spice wimps. Finally, the vegetable korma was better but still not amazing.

This was my first visit to L5P. After walking around to other places that were smoky, lack of air-conditioning, or low vegetarian options, I stopped here. I got a dish with chickpeas and roasted eggplant. They can make it mild or spicy. I loved the taste and smell. The servers were very friendly. It has a nice atmosphere.

  • John G.

Delicious flavors really stand out compared to many other Indian restaurants where the flavors can sometimes get lost in all the oil. I have tried many different Indian restaurants in Atlanta. This tops the list.

  • Cindy W.

Holy moly, I tried some takeout from here; samosas, naan, tikka masala (mild), and a red curry that my friend calls "death curry". They got the orders mixed up; the masala was supposed to be hot, and the red curry (sorry, don't know the name of it) was supposed to be mild. They mean business when you say "Indian hot"! I had a few pieces and I thought I was going to DIE! I haven't had anything so hot since living in China....Seriously, no need for alcohol for that Asian glow, I had it after 3-4 pieces.... TL;DR: The food here is really expensive for somewhat ok Indian food. I think free delivery if your order is over $25 (easy). If you ask for Indian hot, you better be prepared.

I love this place! It's my favorite spot for Indian food near me. Employees are friendly and welcoming and the food is delicious. I love their Dal soup!!! It's the best!!!

  • Shelby S.

Usually not massively impressed with this place, because whenever I order take-out I always end up waiting at least 15 minutes longer than they say, and the first couple times the food (like the shaag paneer) wasn't anything to write home about. Why this is a 4 star review: the service is very nice, and last night I got the Shobji Makhani which was absolutely delicious. Seriously amazing buttery tomato sauce.

I was a bit apprehensive to try Niramish while walking around Little Five; the outside is at best unassuming and at worst a bit sketchy. It was completely empty and very plain on the inside. But, oh, I'm so happy I decided to get lunch there. The first thing that stood out to me was the excellent service. My server introduced himself by name (Mirza), shook my hand, and made pleasant conversation. It was a little overwhelming at first, but, unlike a lot of restaurant employee chitchat, it didn't feel forced or awkward. It almost felt like I was a guest at someone's house. He was very quick to tell me a number of ways that I could save money during future patronage (and, trust me, with free delivery and a discount for take out, I'm definitely returning), and, when I told him it was only my second experience with Indian food, he was quick to make recommendations. I feel like I never had an empty glass for more than a few seconds, and food came out quickly. Plus, with how few people were there, I got a window seat for primetime Little Five people watching. I had the mango lassi, onion pakoras, mixed naan, and something not on the menu that my server suggested to me: a lamb dish with bell peppers, onions, and mangoes. The pakoras were good, especially when paired with the sauces that are made in the restaurant, and the naan was delicious. It was still warm when I got it, and it was full of garlic, cilantro, onion, and shredded cheese. I had to text my mom and girlfriend to let them know that I was taking them next time they were in town if only for the naan. The lamb was very well cooked, and the serving sizes are so big that I had a second dinner some time around midnight. And, after all of that, the chef gave me a complimentary raita. It was different for sure, and it reminded my uncultured tongue vaguely of ranch dressing, but it was nice and cool after all the spicy food, and I have also never been given free anything at anywhere that was not a seedy bar. I appreciated the gesture. The only downside I can come up with is that it was a bit on the expensive side. With a 20% tip, my total came out to around $41 for one person. It's definitely more of a treat to myself than a weekly haunt. In short, try Niramish out, and, if you find yourself in Little Five Points with some friends, try dining in. The service definitely adds something to the experience. The food is delicious, and I can't wait to try all the other things on the menu. A great local restaurant.

We love Niramish! Try going to the restaurant instead of ordering in- it is never crowded and the staff is so nice! I don't think I've ever been without being offered a free sample of something, and they are really patient explaining the flavors to those of us not super familiar with Indian food. The portions are huge and very fairly priced.

THIS PLACE IS AMAZING. I love niramish, I have lived in Georgia, California, and Texas, traveled to all different parts of the country, and I've got to say this is the BEST place I've had Indian food. The folks that work there always remember us and our orders and go out of their way to make us feel comfortable and well taken care of. Can't wait til the next time we can stop by.

Went here before seeing The Bangles at Variety Playhouse. It's almost across the street. I pulled up reviews on yelp and most didn't look so bad so I agreed to try. Ok, we live in North Fulton with excellent Indian restaurants and lots of them. I am well versed in Indian cuisine as we eat it often. Maybe that's why I was so underwhelmed at the chicken tikka Marsala. There was no heat to it & sauce was extremely sweet with overwhelming tomato. I ordered the mango lassi based on a yelp review I read. It was ok, nothing out of this world fabulous. The naan & rice was fine. My husband likes his tandoori chicken. Wait staff was friendly albeit service was slow. That's all I've got. Probably would not return again.

I forgot that I had ordered food from this restaurant, so I made the mistake of placing an order again last night. We had vegetable biriyani, shrimp tandoori and garlic naan. The first time we ordered, I thought there was too much cardamom in the food. This time I thought they added just the right amount of cardamom, but too much cilantro. I know that I'm a freak for not liking cilantro, but I can't stand the taste. The food isn't consistent, so I can't give it a great review.

  • Mia W.

I am a newbie to Indian food, so my selections are usually pretty basic (I.e. Chicken Masala, Garlic Nan, & Veggie Samosa). I decided to try Niramish based on other yelp comments. There is nothing fancy about the interior of the restaurant, but the service was wonderful. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. The nan was yummy, but I wish it was fluffier. I've had fluffier/thicker nan at another Indian restaurant. The chicken masala was wonderful. I couldn't wait to eat my leftovers the next day. Go check it out :)

  • Josh A.

Absolutely terrible. Chicken was dry. And there was a grand total of 5 pieces of chicken in the Chicken Tikka...for $14. No thanks. The samosas are the only saving grace keeping them at a mediocre rating. Im pretty dissatisfied to say the least.

  • Nida K.

This place is okay. I've only came here because they had that Groupon promotion. Well, the amount of food they give is very little and I don't even eat that much. For Indian food, the spicy items are not that spicy (I spent 2 weeks in India, they mean business when they say spicy). The chicken wings they use are tiny! But everything else was okay, we enjoyed our meals. The service was excellent and very attentive. My fiance' loved his food and his mango lassi. I would come back here if in the area in the future, but will try other things and make sure when I say spicy I mean it.

Went yesterday for paneer tikka masala and their cheese naan that I'd been DREAMING about. Sooo good! Waiters were constantly around going from table to table if they needed anything (my water was never empty- pet peeve of mine). And we got complimentary pakoras as appetizers. The customer service at this restaurant is better than most I have to say. Good food, good service...what else is there to want!?

Awesome delivery Indian food, if that is your thing :) We tend to order the vegetarian selections. I LOVE that they will make the food as spicy as you wish. Delivery is always fast and the food has never been anything other than great. They have a wonderful selection, friendly staff and a huge menu. This is definitely our delivery go-to when we don't feel like cooking or having pizza. Even my 4-year old likes the daal and rice

  • Karen H.

The food is okay, but I'd stick to take-out. The dining in experience was not great. They don't have a bar, not even beer an wine, which is a little unusual for an Indian restaurant--and, no, you can't bring in your own. The server had to ask us over and again about our order, and not everything made it to the table. We were the only ones there, so really there was no excuse. Everyone was very polite and friendly. We also had to pay for street parking, and that wasn't easy to find. As I said, I might stop off for take-out, but nothing makes this a destination I'd go out of my way to revisit.

This is, so far, the best Indian food I've had since moving to Atlanta last summer. The usual we get is the chicken tikka masala, channa masala, and garlic naan . It's always good. The servers are very pleasant and the manager (or owner?) is always working hard to make sure everything is on point. I will definitely be going here on a regular basis!

I've only had Niramish twice (both delivery) but I'm quite happy with my experiences so far. My first encounter was a breeze - extremely quick delivery (much faster than Grubhub's estimate) and the food was great. Just spicy enough, generous portions, all very good overall. The second encounter wasn't quite as smooth but in the end it worked out nicely. We ordered on a Tuesday night and the order took a good bit longer than promised on Grubhub (about 1.5 hours - apparently it was an especially busy evening), and upon getting our order both entrees were incorrect. I was given Chicken TIkka Masala (instead of regular Chicken Tikka) and my wife (who is a vegetarian) received an unknown dish with chicken (instead of the veggie-friendly Shaag Ponir that she ordered). We called back and mentioned our issues and were told that the charges we paid would be reversed, and the employee was extremely friendly and apologetic. A few minutes later, they called back just to confirm a few things and after that insisted that they re-send the correct order immediately. This order arrived much quicker and 100% correct, and both the employee on the phone and the delivery driver were incredibly friendly and apologized once again for their mistake. Hopefully we won't have too many more mix-ups in the future as it did take a while to resolve, but it's nice to see a restaurant that will correct their mistakes in a quick and friendly way.

Really nice service. Albeit a little slow. I tried something I never have before that was cauliflower makhati. It was really good and the owner spoke to us about how to enjoy it traditionally with naan. Not the best Indian I've had but good enough to bring me back. Pretty tiny however. But good price.

I have eaten at Niramish with my family MANY MANY times!! We are huge Indian fans and take advantage of their super swell delivery!! The food taste & quality is very consistent and is the best we have found in town. We went there prior to Groupon running a deal and have been back both with a without a Groupon. The owner is nice and usually offers us a 25% off our next dine coupon each time we eat in. The decor is nothing to talk about but the restaurant looks clean and always has people eating and enjoying delicious indian treats. I highly recommend giving it a try!

The dining is fairly small for a large group. It can house the same number of people like Starbucks. The food is tasty. The cook/waiter/cashier run by family. They R extremely friendly. Biryani and tandoori are my favorite... It is lil bit on pricey end compared to other Indian diners.

I really wanted to like Niramish. Really. There was a fantastic 50% off discount available via local-discount-provider-extraordinaire Scoutmob, and the website promoted $6.99 lunch, so how could we resist? I'd been to a couple of previous restaurants in this space (Calcutta, in 1994, and probably never again and Bay Leaves, in 2008) and neither had impressed me to return again. I like Indian food (a lot) but there were just so many better choices elsewhere. And, sadly, I would say the same about Niramish. All three of us ordered items from the lunch menu, creating nice thali-style plates with various vegetarian items, including one tofu-based creation. The platters looked perfect upon arrival, but things went downhill from there. Everything, from the daal to the chana masala, was completely bland. Two of us really do not like overly spicy food (I typically choose items in the mild to medium range if given a choice), but this was squarely in the "no heat" department. Just....nothing. Well, almost. The naan had an oddly sweet flavor I've never experienced at an Indian restaurant. That's not a positive. When it came time to pay, the server told us they would not accept the Scoutmob discount because we ordered from the "special" lunch menu. To us it simply was the lunch menu, and there was no Scoutmob disclaimer about the deal being invalid for this menu. Yes, $6.99 is relatively cheap, but we could've had a FAR better experience for $7.99 at Gokul Sweets (or used a coupon at Bhojanic, etc). The restaurant would not budge on their position, so we reluctantly paid full price. I promptly deleted my Facebook and Twitter posts praising the great deal and instead alerted Scoutmob about the issue (and to their credit, they thanked me and updated the listing within minutes!). As we stood outside, reflecting upon the dissatisfying experience, I realized that we weren't ever served dessert! And sure enough, we saw others inside eating theirs, but we were never offered our three desserts (and we hung out at the table for quite a bit after paying). So, yeah, another strike, and that's just too many. If I lived nearby and could walk there, I'd probably try it again, but it's just not any kind of a destination.

I first heard about this place from a Groupon that my fiance' found. I wasn't expecting anything great since I wasn't really in the mood for Indian food that day but I must say, the food was really good! The seasonings were perfect and the server even asked how spicy we would like our food to further ensure that we were not disappointed. We had some soup and the Tandoori Chicken Wings for an appetizer, and my fiance' ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala which she asked for very hot and I had some kind of curried meat (lamb or goat; I can't remember which was on the menu) which I asked for very very hot. I wasn't sure of what that difference would taste like but her food was pretty hot and mine was actually hotter! Even still, the heat from the pepper did not drown out the flavor of the food (which often happens when food is TOO spicy). I also had a mango lassi and she had the mango dessert that tastes like ice cream for dessert. Both were freakin' great! Bottom line, everything had good flavor, was very fairly priced, and the quality and speed of service was pretty good. I will say that we did not use the Groupon because we went for lunch and they do not allow discounts with the lunch special prices so be ye forewarned, but the prices are already pretty reasonable at lunch so don't let that deter you from eating here if you have a taste for some good solid Indian food. I'll be back!

For starters, don't be fooled by their claims of "free delivery." If you compare the prices on their grubhub menu with the dinner menu prices on their site, you will quickly see that they've just added $1-$2 to EACH entree...sneaky sneaky. However, to their credit they seem to be the only Indian restaurant around here that delivers and they do so relatively quickly (40 minutes-ish). The food however is really meh, nothing to write home about. It's not really Indian food, nor is it Bangladeshi food. In some weird attempt to try to appease the western palate while remaining "exotic", they make their dishes really sweet. My paneer makhani didn't have a hint of sweetness, it was downright sugary. Even the naan was weirdly sweet. Also, their aloo saag (potatoes and spinach) was just strange. Overall, the food was really bland too. I ordered the dishes spicy and didn't detect an ounce of heat. As someone who has been to that part of the world, I've never had Indian/Bangladeshi food like this and that's not a compliment. Also their prices are ridiculous for the portion size. $13 for about a cup and a half of vegetarian Indian food served with a cup of white rice is a bit steep. To put things in perspective, the same thing at Tava and Grill was $7 when they delivered. All in all, I think the next time I have a craving for Indian food, I'll just go pick it up from somewhere. Even with $4 a gallon gas, it's probably still worth it compared to this place...

A great low-key value in L5P. Naan is absolutely delicious, the raita achieved a wonderfully balanced sweetness without being cloying, the sag paneer hit all the right aromatic notes. I had the veggie thali, and honestly two people could have gone away satisfied. Wait staff is very attentive without being overbearing. They even have a cute habit of saying "thank you" at the end of every interaction, whether it's needed or not.

The first time I ordered from Niramish, they messed my order up, and sent me the wrong dish. By the time I had gotten to my food and figured it out, I figured it was too late to get it corrected, so I ate it, and wrote a review. The owner who received the review, quickly called me to apologize for the mix-up. He offered me a free meal, to accommodate. I appreciated the quick response, and his kind offer. I ordered food the following evening, and thoroughly enjoyed it. The chicken tikka masala was delicious. Getting the wrong order on my first time ordering with them, was a little disappointing, but I appreciated the way it was handled, and I enjoyed the food, and will order from here again.

True homegrown service at your beck and call. True, the ambiance lacks. True we were pretty much the only ones in there. True, it was overpriced. But the check-in yelp offer makes this place a great date night and affordable too. If you want to try real Bangladeshi food and not just typical commercial Indian food, come here.

Around 5pm on a Tuesday evening, my friend and I were the only people in the restaurant. Given this, our service was a little slow, thus four stars. Everything else was good! The food was tasty, the service was polite, and the restaurant was much cleaner than the neighborhood around it!

Sunny day in L5P lead me and friends here for cafeteria-style Tandoori chicken, vegetable curry, shaag paneer, chicken tikka masala, and samoasas. You can't beat their lunch menu ($6.99) or most of the entree prices. The service was average to good; our food took a little while to come to the table, but we had the samosas and some spiced tea to hold us over. They had lots of vegetarian options, per usual for most Indian restaurants, and the naan was very tasty. The food was pretty good, not my top favorite Indian restaurant in the city, but I'd definitely return.

What a great lunch special! The food was very tasty, but lacked that special Indian flare. There were chicken, fish and lamb dishes available too. I am not a *pro* at Indian cuisine by any stretch. The food was good, but most of the dishes seemed to all taste the same. As a novice Indian eater, I was very pleased and the menu seemed to have something for everyone and at a great lunch price. For experience Indian eaters, this may fall short. Nonetheless, there's a mound of food brought to you for lunch. You won't walk away hungry!

omsnomnomnoms Totally yummy. Attentive servers and well priced delicious food. I was absolutely satisfied with our meal here. A true L5P gem. Samosas for 2 with two sauces - the noms Chicken Korma - so very good and coconutty Chicken Biriyani - delicious and overflowing the serving dish Garlic Nan - I wish there had been more. I was stationed in England when I really, truly started eating Indian food and I fell in love with it. I am so glad that there is a great place to get it within walking distance to the O4W. YAY!!

I think the general consensus is that lunch is great here, but dinner sucks. I just got back from dinner, and I'm being somewhat generous with a 2 star rating. I won't give it 1 star only because it wasn't terrible -- but the place was very mediocre in general. It didn't help when the waiter said to come back for lunch, and that it would be much better during that time. First, the service was ridiculously slow. 6 of us were basically the only ones in the restaurant, and dinner took over 2 hours. Unacceptable. Especially after taking a Con Law exam where we all just got owned. The theory we came up with was that it was obvious the waiter was also doing the cooking -- which is why it took so long. Second, the food was mediocre. The chicken tikka and the chicken makhani were sweet... interesting. Not sure if it was because this place served a different type of Indian food, but I was not feeling the food here. The poori was pretty good, and the chicken tandoori was done well, but two of the more popular Indian dishes were just iffy. The thali looked to be a huge portion -- if I came back here again, I would get that, but it is likely that will not happen. Third, the food was expensive. I mean, very pricey. It was about $13 or 14 for a chicken tikka, and then regular naan was $3 dollars. Definitely not the cost I would expect when seeing that their lunch specials are $6. Overall, fail. Slow service. Mediocre food. Might come back for lunch, but I doubt it.

Niramish has been my go-to Indian delivery restaurant. Recently though, there was a Groupon for dine-in that I decided to take advantage of. First issue: we decided to go early on a Friday evening. Little five points has essentially no parking, all of the meters were full, which meant $7 just for 1 hour of parking. Walking into the restaurant, I was a little shocked. 5:30 on a Friday, and three employees were sitting in the back, but we were the only customers. While they got us seated and gave us menus quickly, it then took 15 minutes of us awkwardly sitting there for them to take our order. It wasn't a busy day, our menus had been shut for 14 of the 15 minutes, but the employees just seemed to not care that we were customers. It got to the point where we were awkwardly trying to figure out how to ask to place our order without being rude. One the food came, it was delicious. I am huge fan of their Chicken Tikka Masala and Garlic Naan, plus it is onion free which allows my boyfriend to enjoy it as well. Yes, it was awkward being the only table in the restaurant on a Friday night. But, the food made it okay. We did see the delivery drivers leave multiple times in the hour we were there, which is awkward as they are leaving with bags of food through the front-of-house entrance. Overall, the in-store dining experience was okay, but you actually get better "service" and better value doing delivery, especially as they usually through in samosas or naan once you reach a certain price-point on the delivery option.

From the outside, I peered into the windows...hmmm...no one inside...uhhh...that's usually a bad sign... Now, I have walked past this place at least 50 times in the last 1.5 years....never did order or go in. FINALLY!!!! Yelp and Scoutmob both found it...the discount gave me a reason to experiment and try it. Got two mains and a side of Naan for $15 with the discount. (For DINNER) We are light eaters so this turned into two meals for the two of us. Read four servings. If we had paid full price it would have been closer to $24...OUCH. Not worth $24. Really tasty, but not friendly enough on the wallet to balance out the cost. Have we ordered since? Nope, just can't get over the price. Oh well, next time there's a discount offer...or maybe the lunch specials Kathleen M talks about...

I only get take out at Niramish so I can't say what's up on the service inside, but take out always goes smoothly. I'd love it if there was an actual parking spot dedicated for pick up, but you know, as the closest Indian place to my house, I can't complain too much. I love their food! It's the cheapest Indian I've ever had, but the garlic Naan and rice go sooo well with any meal. Love samosas and the veggie korma as well as paneer. Be aware that spicy MEANS spicy. Had a rough night of it through that dinner, but if you like spicy, you should go for it. DELISH.

Great little hole in the wall Indian place. The tiki Marsala was good but not great. If you want hot, ask for Indian hot, Good heat without drowning out the food. The Indian tea is interesting with spices in it. Service friendly and attentive.

I saw this place a few days ago while out walking and decided to give it a try. My wife and I went for lunch at about 12:30pm on a Friday, and the place was empty. Not a single customer at any of the tables, which is always a bit concerning. However, my wife and I decided to give it a shot, and I'm glad we did. The room itself is nothing fancy or special, just a little spot in L5P with tables and chairs, a few big TVs, and an aquarium. One good thing, unlike a few other reviews, I found it to be very clean. The service was helpful and friendly, but a little slow, so it may not be the place to go if you are in a hurry. But, the food was really, really good. I had the Lamb Curry with Vegetables, and everything on my plate was delicious. And, the Vegetable Samosas were absolutely amazing - nice and flaky on the outside, so when dipped in the two sauces that came with it - yum. Next time, I'm going to indulge with the rice pudding for dessert. All in all, a good experience. I'll be back.

Went here due to a Scoutmob that a friend had. I wasn't a fan. The service is good and the staff is super nice (although I didn't find them to be very helpful with menu choices or questions) Being that I'm Indian, I've had my share of the dishes mentioned on the menu, and I felt that the dishes served here lacked spice and were too sweet compared to how they are usually made at most restaurants. I was hoping to be able to give it more stars, but just couldn't do it....

Popped into Niramish before going to a show at Variety Playhouse recently. I got into L5P a little early, so had some time to kill. Initially, I wanted to just walk around and people watch, then I noticed the sign for Niramish and remembered it was on my mental "must try" list. First off, you could really miss this place easily if you're not looking for it, Euclid Ave is a tad on the busy side; especially on a Saturday evening. Upon entering the aroma is very inviting. They seemed to have a packed house, I was seated fairly quickly, although it did take a while to get actual service. Found it almost amusing that one of the servers kept walking past me AND looking at me, filled my water once, but never took my order. The person who seated me finally came up after about 20 minutes and I got my order in. Had the Lamb Shobjeer Jhol, which was delicious. Alongside that was some of the wheat dosa, which made a nice accompaniment. The price was fair, the food was tasty, not stellar, although the service desperately needs help. I'd give them one more chance next time I'm in the area for a show.

Ok, so the walls are bare naked and ambiance so-so that's why most of the time I get my food to go. Their yummy saag paneer is my Achilles heel eaten with their soft naan, it's so good it makes me squeal. But I'm sorry to mention consistency is something they lack. And if you want speedy service you should order, leave, and come back. And they don't serve alcohol at least not the last time I was in. I won't fault them a star, but to me, that's a real sin. Also, I find it a bit pricey compared to other joints in town, but for that neighborhood, it's the best Indian food I've found. So to surmise for you what I'm trying to say: great food, lame decor, and you'll probably overpay.

You know those boiling bag packets of heat-and-serve Indian food that you can get in Indian specialty shops (like Patel Brothers) and many grocery stores? The next time you have a choice of heating up a couple of those or going to Niramish for Indian food, choose the former over the latter. This place was great a few years ago but I honestly think that its days are numbered. My dining partner and I were the only customers in the house tonight. I get the feeling that that's a typical evening at Niramish these days. Oh and BTW they failed their health inspection in September 2011 ga.state.gegov.com/_temp… I was willing to overlook that since even some of the top restaurants in town have failed their inspections in the last year since they tightened the scoring criteria. I guess health inspector tried the food during his visit.

Okay I've now gone back twice and I did get to try the food once! I've never had sweet Indian food before without true spice. They were able to do this. The 3rd trip they brought out a dirty glass and when my plate arrived it had some stuck on goo. I just walked out. "No more EVER! Desi spice is for me.

This is my second time trying out Niramish. The first time was right after they opened, and it was not great. However, they have totally stepped up their game since that first visit. I came here for lunch, and was excited to use my Yelp coupon. Turns out, they only honor the coupon on the dinner menu. Normally this would kind of piss me off, but they have it clearly stated on their lunch menu that discounts are not applicable with the lunch special. You can still use your coupon during lunch, just not when ordering from the lunch special. Anyways, the food I had was simply spectacular. I got the lunch special which came with soup (meh), a meat dish, a veggie dish, rice, naan, and some potato pancake/hasbrown thing I've never seen before. I got chicken tikka masala and saag paneer. There are no words to describe how delicious it was. Spicy, sweet, creamy. Simply wonderful. I tried to finish it all, it was so good. Bad idea. I left feeling so full I was close to vomiting. I heard at least one other person tell their server how good their food was (besides me). The service was also absolutely impeccable. Practically begging to help you out, without being intrusive. All it took was eye contact and that guy was at my side with water.

Yelpers beware - Niramish does NOT honor the 50% off offer listed on their Yelp page! Now to the food.... Indian food is one of my absolute favorites - when done right its robust flavor and distinctive spice is like heaven in your mouth. Well for me, tonight, Niramish was Indian done all wrong... My veggie thali was served lukewarm - the veggie curry and chana masala were spice-less and almost unidentifiable as Indian food. The saag paneer (which came instead of the saag aloo i ordered) was so sweet it tasted like dessert. Luckily I salvaged the meal by taking my barely-touched dinner home with me. I was able to perform some magic with a skillet and some spices from Cherians, and my Indian craving was satisfied after all!

Whenever I go to this restaurant I feel like I'm one with nature. There is always live ants on the side of my plate. The lighting is bad. It seems so dark and the bathroom is a nightmare. Why I visited multiple times? I love that naan. The price is nice and cheap, just the way I like it. Lets not forget its in Little 5 Points, right across the street there is a hookah bar! All I have to say is, "I ain't afraid of no ants!"

Went here with my brother based on the scoutmob coupon. I'm not sure if they were just overwhelmed with all the customers from scoutmob or what, but the staff was having trouble keeping up with everyone. They win the award for most bland Indian food I've ever had, which is pretty incredible considering my brother ordered Vindaloo and specifically requested it extra spicy. The samosas looked and tasted like they had just come out of a frozen package in the kitchen. Atlanta is not the best city in the world for Indian cuisine, but I would recommend Panahar, Zyka, or Desi Spice a million times before Niramish.

I really am not sure what other reviewers encountered that totally evaded me, but I had a spectacular meal! I went in for dinner at about 8:30 on a Sunday night. My boyfriend and I ordered an appetizer, 2 curry entrees, and a side order of naan bread and we paid about $33. The service was really great; they refilled our glasses and checked in on us really often. I'm not a huge fan of spicy foods, but my meal was totally mouthwatering. I have to say, I'm a total fan and will definitely be back.

Niramish is one of those restaurants, which forces you to think why Yelp doesn't allow ratings in half-points. A 4* is certainly too high for a restaurant with just decent food and not-so-great service, but 3* seems to be a bit low (specifically for the value for money!). Okay, I will dock half a star for my 2 non-Yelping friends, who didn't like it, when we decided to try this out yesterday. First things first. Niramish, in Hindi, means "Vegetarian". And if a restaurant is named "Vegetarian", I normally would expect it to be purely vegetarian (i.e. serving no meat) This is not the case with this one. You may be thinking why is this a big deal. Surely not for most of us, but can be for some strict vegetarians from India ! Coming to the food, I ordered the veg-thali with chana masala and Tofu do-pyaza (Americanized version of Indian dish Paneer do-pyaza). The thali came with soup of the day lentil soup, onion-pakora, rice and half a naan. Soup was just okay, but chana masala & Tofu do pyaza were good. My friends ordered Veg Korma and their signature dish "Niramish" and didn't like it that much. Also, included in the thali was choice of dessert: rice-kheer or gulab-jamun. Kheer was just okay, but what was weirder was that since I and my friend had both ordered kheer, they brought a common plate for both of us. I don't think this is Bangladeshi custom, surely not an Indian one. But certainly, in terms of value for money, this is perhaps the best Indian joint in town. The lunch thali costs just $6! In sum, I would certainly not be going all the way from Decatur to visit Niramish again, but if I am around the area during lunch time, I won't mind dropping by, and giving them a 2nd chance.

Now that our fearless leader Kathleen M. lives on this side of town, we decided to try out Niramish together. The place is a lot smaller than I had expected it to be, but very cozy. I guess the owner has chilled out on telling people what to get because the service was good and just let us do our thing. I got the Tofu Vindaloo and it was pretty darn yummy. I usually go to Planet Bombay but I definitely will be switching up my neighborhood Indian intake because Niramish is a bit less expensive than Planet Bombay, and just as good. A word of warning, though, they have some funky hours and it's closed on certain days, so check out the hours before you head out.

I finally found an amazing Indian restaurant. The food was excellent. The chicken marsala was great and just the right amount of spice (hotness). Would definitely eat at Niramish again.

Does "Niramish" translate to "hostile" in English? It would seem that way after being treated with such neglect at this L5P eatery. My boyfriend and I waited 15 minutes before growing agitated that someone hadn't taken our drink order. The waiters bustled back and forth across the small room as if we were invisible. Finally, my beau raised his hand and shot an idle waiter some stink eye, letting him know we existed and were thirsty. The waiter moseyed to our table and silently stood. No "I apologize for the wait" or "Welcome to Niramish, what can I get for you to drink this evening?" I made sure to throw in our appetizer order with our drink requests to reiterate the waiter's dismissiveness. We chose the cheese naan, natch, and some fried wheat balls stuffed with vegetables. I wish I could find an online menu and accurately describe it. Illustrating the dish also would be easier if the waiter had brought us what we asked for--instead, he presented us with a bowl of spicy white peas topped with crumbled tortilla chips. When I asked him what was up with that, he said, "Oh, we were out of the other thing, and this is the closest appetizer to it, so I just brought you that. Sorry, I forgot to ask. It will be on the house." How...kind? We split an entree in an effort to save money and not each too much. Our tilapia topped with a special curry sauce, green bell peppers and onions on a bed of rice was plenty. While we munched, a group of teeny boppers at the table next-door loudly discussed how much they hated the Facebook movie. Really? Because I'm dying to see it. I've heard some great things about Niramish and am hugely disappointed with my experience there. The food probably would've sat with me a lot better had the inadequate waiter not left such a horrid taste in my mouth.

This is a review of lunch at Niramish. It was incredible! As the owner of Niramish is also the man behind the incredible Panahar Bangladeshi, I was expecting nothing but the best. And it was awesome. The lunch special is a vegetarian's heaven. There are so many options to choose from. The only downer is that you have to pay extra for nan (which I did) because it only comes with rice. But the selection of curry options were overwhelming. I chose a spinach and cream dish, and the veggie curry and was not disappointed. The lunch special also comes with a chi iced tea which complements the meal perfectly. Sometimes when you leave Indian eateries you can hardly move and have a heavy feeling in you stomach the rest of the day. The portions were spot on at Niramish and I left knowing I will definitely be haunting this place again and again.

Really good Indian food...only thing keeping me from giving them 5 stars is somewhat leisurely (but friendly) service - frequently empty drinks, long wait to place order - when they clearly weren't busy; there was only one other party of two in the place when we were there. Otherwise highly recommended.

First time trying Indian...I loved it. My party redeemed the 50% off coupon that I saw on Yelp! I had some sort of Tandoori chicken with naan and basmati rice. It was amazing. I can't wait to go back to try everything else. Atmosphere was pretty laid back. When music was on, it was good...but intermittently played. Servers were very helpful!

Um did I go to the same restaurant as all you other people? Our dinner was pretty pricey for Indian food--$19.99 for the meat thali and $14.99 for the vegetable thali -- a far cry from the $5.99 lunch special everyone mentioned. I think I would've appreciated that a whole lot more. We probably could've shared one thali to be honest. Both thalis came with a vegetarian appetizer sampler of a samosa and some different pakoras (potato, eggplant, spinach, cauliflower). The meat thali came with chicken tikka masala, lamb curry, a vegetarian curry option. The vegetarian curry came with a daal, 2 vegetarian curry options. Both thalis included rice, naan, and raita. And don't forget dessert: your choice of gulab jamun or rice pudding. Generally, I found the food to be bland, under-spiced (perhaps being Bangladeshi, as someone mentioned) and overly sweet, which for me is a sign the restaurant is catering to American customers. The naan was buttery crispy and sweet enough for me to eat like toast the next morning. I'm not really complaining too hard there. Overall, I feel there are better indian options elsewhere in Atlanta. I don't associate Little 5 Points with great Indian food and unfortunately, I didn't really walk away with a different opinion. However, I'm still intrigued by the Yelp reviews and will likely follow up on a lunch mission.

I've only recently begun my search for great Indian food in the ATL (and if you have a fave place, I'm open to suggestions.) After an exhausting morning at the Rag-o-Rama Dollar Sale, BF and I popped across the street to hopefully satisfy my craving for mutter paneer and nummy hot naan. My delicious peas paneer were not on the menu, but I'm versatile, so we stayed. Before we were handed the lunch specials, the regular menu prices were so ridic that I was planning to order a few appetizers. But $6 for a nice little spread was pretty sweet. I ordered the eggplant and the mixed veg in cream sauce; BF the lamb and chana masala (spiced chickpeas) which were the best thing we had. ... Aside from the paneer pakora we ordered as an app, think like Indian mozzarella sticks, which were awesome, if a smallish portion, and saved the review. My veggies were okay, but not the flavor explosion I'm used to with Indian food, and NOT spicy, although we both ordered it that way. BF's lamb was tough. The lentil soup was quite good, but everything was weirdly sweet and the naan a bit dry. Ambiance/decor is sparse. Service was okay, not great. I had to remind our server that dessert came with the lunch special, and he brought out a small dish of kheer. Wasn't given an option for gulab jamun which is a shame because I love them and the kheer was pretty bland. Have to say, their big windowfront is great for L5P people watching, which is easily already the city's best people watching. Summary: Eh. Won't be back, especially not for dinner.

I've been here twice so far. Once I dined in for lunch and tonight I got take out dinner. Lunch was alright - I got the special to save some money and wasn't entirely pleased with it, but dinner was fantastic. The naan is sweet and delicious and wonderful. The servers are always nice, and they accepted my Yelp coupon without any groans or asking me to write them a review. I'll definitely be a regular customer in the future. Oh, and their chicken makhani is amazing - so much better than Planet Bombay's.

Met the lovely Nikki K here for lunch today and I gotta say... hell yes. Absolutely scrumptious and insanely cheap Indian food in walking distance from my house-- it's all that I ever dreamed of. Unfortunately, given that this is a vegetarian restaurant (but, um, they serve seafood as well?!) I won't be able to get my chicken tikka masala. But seriously, I'm okay with that. They have shrimp tikka masala... I'll try it next time. Today, I took advantage of the lunch special. For a mere $5.99, I got a HUGE platter chock full of curried vegetables (Niramish), chickpeas (chana masala), rice, pakoras, and the soup of the day. For a couple of bucks extra we got 4 big slices of buttery hot naan, which was a sweeter version than I'd ever had before, but I loved it. In addition to being an incredible value, the rest of the food was delicious, filling, with just the right amount of heat. For $5.99 +tip, this is a meal I will be partaking in on a very regular basis. Have I mentioned how much I love my neighborhood yet?

Wonderfully fantastic food! Very happy about the vegetarian options-- the waiter was very accommodating in pointing out the ones that were vegan. Went with a vegetarian meetup group and we all thought it was incredible. I'll be going back soon!!

There are too many good Indian restaurants in Atlanta to waste your time here. Pro: the wait staff are very nice and make sure you have a steady supply of beverages. The bollywoood films playing in the background are nice. Con: the small plates which were intended to be part of a clean table setting were sticky. They were replaced when we asked. The coconut soup was very thick and way too sweet - think sweet potato souffle with shredded coconut. The samosas were also too sweet without the balance of savory. Samosas from the DeKalb Farmer's Market are better. Niramesh needs a new cook.

Where has this place been all my life? OH yes, right up the street from me on Euclid - why have I denied you for so long? I will never darken the doorway to Planet Bombay - I have found my new oasis (until I stumble upon a better Indian joint). This place is intimate, it is quiet, the waiters are attentive and of course they are playing their beloved Bollywood musicals in the background. I ordered the Vegetable Thali and HOLY MOLY they gave me a lot and then felt I should have seconds and piled more onto my plate. The food is savory, the only thing is I'll ask for the spice notch to be kicked up quite a bit. I asked for medium but I guess our definition of medium varies. The naan was perfectly baked and soft. The garlic wasn't over powering and the naan wasn't overly greasy - it was perfect. I could have just ate that by itself (and towards the end...I did, oops!). My partner got the vegetable korma - it was good. I think it was a little bit soupy and the color threw me off - I'm used to seeing it a bright orange-ish color and their was very pale and creamy. Not sure I would order that but the taste was pleasant just not eye pleasing but the vegetable thali?!! Yes, may I have some more because it is that good. I have to come back for their lunch special. Maybe the next time I'm off work during the week.

Grabbed some dinner here specifically cause 1) my friends are vegetarian and 2) we like Indian. We walked in to a very cold (literally) space with no one else in the restaurant. The staff was friendly and unobtrusive. Ordered some samosas and pooris to start. Yummy! Great flavor and spice. Our table then ordered a variety of dishes - vindaloo, korma, niramish, etc - along with garlic naan that were very good. And if it's not spicy enough for you, they'll take it back and make it so hot that you'll sweat eating it! Definitely a surprise that it was really good, and definitely worth coming back again. Just make note that they don't have alcohol - the family that followed us in discovered as the patriarch ushered everyone out with a loud "OMG they don't serve alcohol!"

My recent dining experience at Niramish was a very pleasant surprise. While I had eaten here once before, admittedly I came back due to Scoutmob. It was much better than I remembered. We ordered vegetable samosas, garlic naan, chicken Vindaloo, and Shaag Poneer Makhani. The samosas were good, not DeKalb Farmers Market good, but tasty. Garlic naan was very good. The chicken Vindaloo was delicious and quite spicy (like we ordered it). The Shagg Poneer was delicious. Very similar to the Palak Paneer I'm used to getting at South Indian restaurants, but just a bit sweeter, which actually made it a perfect compliment to the spicy chicken Vindaloo. What made the entrees even better was the exceptional service. Seriously, best service we've had in a while. We both commented that it was a perfect meal. Only con is that they don't serve drinks, but our server said they were working on that. Good, a Kingfisher would only make that Vindaloo better. While there are a couple of South Indian vegetarian restaurants that I think are just a little tastier in one way or another, they are much farther away from me. Also, they probably have the best atmosphere of any Indian restaurant I've been to in Atlanta, especially in this price range. This will definitely be my go-to Indian restaurant from here on out. Oh, even though we went to dinner, we noticed that their lunch specials are exceptionally well priced!

A part of me wants to review this place with a simple mmmmmmmm. But I guess you would wonder why, so I'll say more. Niramish is so freaking good. Every bite is FLAVORFUL. I have not been very impressed with Atlanta's choice of Indian restaurants, but this one is the truth. The samosas are KICK BEEP!!! Even before you truly get to the yummy inside you're already smacked with a delicious flavor. Excellent vegetarian choices. You won't miss the meat and will LOVE the taste. Unfortunately they don't have a menu online or one to take home...they're apparently upgrading it.

Went to niramish for dinner on sunday after inman park festival. it was pretty empty so we were seated right away. the service was ok. the server was just not that interactive. my friend made a joke and he just walked away which was a bit odd. the food came out quickly. i had the thali with chicken tikka masala, lamb and veggie curry. the naan that came with it was really good. the chicken tikka massala was a bit too sweet and not spicy enough. i enjoyed the lamb and veg curry. my friend had lamb boona. it was very good. he also had an order of naan with what i think was apricots in it which was an interesting combo. overall, i enjoyed my dinner and would go back. the prices are good and you get a descent amount of food. and mentioning yelp gets 50% off!!

My favorite new vegetarian spot in a place I hang out in anyway. I guess by now the owner has learned not to be so pushy as others here have mentioned but I feel he gave me just enough attention to advertise their late lunch specials (Tue-Sun, 1:00 pm - 5:00pm) and make a couple of recommendations. I chose the 2-veggie lunch special for $5.99 but he managed to sucker me into trying the fruited nan (bread with fruit inside) for another $3.99. Still a good deal considering the money I waste on daily lunch at the office. My special came with a soup of the day (not sure which one but it had the texture of a lentil soup), onion pakora and Baashmotee (basmati) rice. For my veggies I chose the Begoon Bhorta (roasted, skinless eggplant) and Shaag Aloo (spinch with potato and cheese). It was absolutely incredible! This is why I became a vegetarian and wish I had the skills to cook like this at home. The flavors played well together and with each bite I couldn't tell if the spinach or the eggplant was my favorite. Or maybe it was the spinach, bite of pakora combo. Or, it could have been the fruited nan topped with eggplant. Or... well, you get it. Looking at the menu I'd like to work my way through the whole thing, maybe even a fish dish or two. I barely touched the rice but that was because I was easily getting full on all the other things and didn't need more carbs since I had the bread, but the rice tasted good, if not a bit too dry. My waiter said 'thank you' at every table visit but I kinda liked it and wish a few other places would learn that type of deference. Small but not cozy with a good view of the street carnival that passes by.

Dinner and Lunch at Niramish are always incredible. But as far as lunch in the area this is the best deal around. The price is under 8 dollars for 2 entrée selections (meat/veggie or 2 veggie) you also get two large pieces of nan, a soup, an appetizer selection from the chef, and a dessert. The food is amazing. Very excellent Indian food.

Was surprised how bad the food was. They found ways to make everything a little worse than it should have been. First ,the spice level is geared for non Indians who hate good flavors. The veggie curry, rice nan, dal, and spinach paneer were all singularly lackluster. The spinach dish was way too sweet and under salted. They use the cheapest rice possible (not long grain and definitely not basmati). They put a cardamon pod or two in the rice water in hopes that this little gesture will do. It does not. I love indian food and was hungry but still threw half away. For less $ and WAY more flavorful food(not dumbed down), try Saravana Bhavan. For a similar price and somewhat dumbed down level of spice but still fine quality try Cafe Bombay.

Niramish had excellent food, but it loses points for atmosphere. Also, the owner was a little too pushy for my taste, but he knew the menu very well and is very excited about this new restaurant. I can understand that. The service was a little "over-attentive" to me, as they made sure to wipe every crumb from the table for a few minutes completely interrupting the conversation that I was having. I'm not bashing their eagerness to provide cleanliness to their patrons, but I am just not the kind of person that wants someone lingering around so much. Regardless, I understand that they opened a new restaurant. These things make you excited. :) My boyfriend and I ate the vegetarian combo, and that was absolutely excellent. The best part was the eggplant bhajee to me. Everything we ate was absolutely fantastic, and I can't wait to go back there again. I think that Niramish will become a nice new addition to L5P.

Easily, the worst Indian food I have ever eaten. My friends and I ordered a lot of different things from veg curries (navratan corma, mushroom curry etc.) to chicken curry and biryani. Everything tasted same because of same gravy. The food was super spicy. Nothing seemed to be freshly made. It was a really bad experience and I would not suggest this place to anyone.

If you are in the area and looking for some yummy Indian food look no further!! I have just eaten here and had the lunch special but was quite please. My meat eating hubby had good things to say about the chicken dishes and I am always happy to have any indian veggie dish. The choices were good and the server was quite pleasant. I will be back!

My favorite part about Indian food is the naan bread, but some how they managed to ruin it. It was less like bread and more like a hard cracker;crispy and not nice. Hands down the worst naan i've ever had. The chicken curry was nice. Onion pakora was also nice. All food was freezing upon delivery which took 1 hour. I will not try again.

Another pick for my favorite takeout/delivery places. Now, I'm no connoisseur of Indian food, but everything I've had from Niramish has been great. Chicken tikka masala, wings, naan, samosa - all excellent. A bit expensive, but the past two times I've been there, they've given me coupons for my next meal.

Went here while we were out at Fernbank around 6:30 on a Sunday. Noone else was in the restaurant, but a couple of folks for carry out came while we were there. Small place and quite different than the unique Little Five area itself. I've only been to a couple Indian restaurants in Atlanta and I think Cafe Bombay is a great place to eat if your in North Atlanta. But, I thought the food at Niramish was awesome. We split the Chicken Kurma with some Plain Naan and Garlic Naan. Sweet and just tasted very good. There's no other way to put it. For an appetizer we had the Somasa, which was great as well. With the two sauces that came with it; even better. It was a little spicy, but not much. Definitely recommended.

It's unfortunate that Niramish was as bad as it was and I wish. I should have read yelp first, but alas, I was stuck with a $30 takeout order and an unfulfilled hankering for good Indian. Had the Lamb Vindaloo and Chicken Tikka Massala. The portions were smaller than most places but this may have been because I was ordering takeout (not that I am trying to make excuses for them). But the food was about as bland as it comes. Trader Joes has better frozen Indian options. And on further inspection, the chicken in the Tikka Massala was unmistakably tandori chicken reused for their massala! Not to mention that massala - normally rich and creamy - tasted like watered down tomato soup and the vindaloo like a mild, greasy stew.

A wise Yelper once said "If you do Scoutmob, make sure you can handle it"... oh so true! Came in on a weeknight, a couple of days after the Scoutmob deal hit and the place was swamped. Granted, not hard to do since they have maybe 20 tables, but at 9pm on a Wednesday we waited almost 30 minutes for a table. I didn't mind so much; what I minded was the way the staff was running around like Dorothy before the twister hit: they were banging into each other and running into tables, and obviously overwhelmed. A bit amusing! As other reviewers noted, Niramish is Bangladeshi, not Indian, and it's a lot milder than most Indian food. We forgot to order it spicy. A bit disappointing, as my friend and I both like to shoot flames from our ears as we enjoy our meals, but that was our bad. I'm guessing everything was well seasoned and tasty, but it was hard to tell because every time someone opened the front door we were all blasted with a gust of Artic freshness that rendered the food so cold you couldn't really taste it. Shame. A big bump of spice would have taken care of that ;). My friend and I ordered one each of the meat/seafood thalis. Now those are a great deal! You basically get a buffet on a silver tray (sorry for the rhyme...totally unintentional!). Both options give you several choices...the shrimp coconut curry is nice, as is the chicken tikka masala. The saag paneer is outstanding, and the only dish that really had a kick to it. The lamb must've been angry when it hit the pan...it was tough as clenched fists. I was amused by the sides and desserts served in super tiny dishes that make the server run for refills. Final answer: not bad, but not worth going out of my way for. It was better than the place around the corner and the Scoutmob deal made us a little more forgiving.

This is one of my favorite Indian restaurants in Atlanta. The menu is huge! And the food is always delicious. They never hold back on the spices. The prices are good and the portions are substantial. The waiters are always very friendly and like to make silly jokes.

My craving for Indian food led me to this place and I'm so glad Scoutmob was there to give me 50% off my food. The food was actually good. My friend and I had the samosas (spicy), the chicken makhani (very good), and the chicken tikka biriyani (even better). The naan was ok as was the service. Overall a very good experience. I especially enjoyed witnessing the awkward first date between the couple at the table next to us. That made for a very comical meal.

went here today for lunch. It EXCEEDED my expectations! It was small, but cute and well put together. The plates are served "cafeteria style" which was pretty humorous to me. I kept thinking "You gone eat all your cornbread" lol. But the food was DELICIOUS! I had the Vegetarian Thali(sp). The tofu spinach curry was scrumptious. The bread, awesome. There was something fried on my plate that tasted GREAT but I really have no idea what it was (which is normal with me and Indian). All the food had great depth of flavor. Somebody in the kitchen put some love into it.

If you are going for a quick bite - then this is not the place for you. The service is slow. I mean, I am the only person in there sometimes and it is still slow. They are always sweet with me - but waiting on tables I am pretty sure is not what most of those guys want to be doing. *shrug* I mean - I got to the point where the last thing I wanted to see was another customer and got out of the waiting tables business. However - this place has the vibe that everyone is family . . . I get it. So I make sure when I go there for lunch - I am in no way shape or form in a rush. Dinner may be pricey - I don't know . . . haven't been there for that meal yet - but their lunch special is outta sight! Normally in the $6-8 range and that is inclusive of drink or dessert. And with the heaping amount of food they place in front of your face . . . it is honest to goodness so damn good you wish it would replenish itself!! I normally get a lamb concoction with a side of the saag poneer and some garlic naan. Absolute yums-ville.

What A Great Little Authentic Indian Restaurant...A Hidden Diamond in L5P. I always pass by Niramish when I'm in L5P. I noticed it was on Scoutmob, so I decided to try it, boy am I glad I did! Its very tasty and very authentic. My appetizer was sooo wonderful, home-made fried cheese with a slighty tangy sauce. The staff if very nice and the music is wonderful. I am a HUGE fan of the India Culture so Im a big fan of the music. Such a great little place to dine, also the lunch special is PERFECT. If you are ever in lil 5 and would like to be whisked away to India for a short while, dine at Niramish!!

I love Indian food. Atlanta has a lot of great Indian food, though most of it is out in Decatur. Bhojanic is an exception being a little closer. Unfortunately, Niramish is not an exception. Ordered take out for the first time. Food was quick, staff nice, space clean. That's the positive part of this review. Saag Aloo Paneer: very oily, VERY sweet (?) and one potato amongst a sea of spinach and cheese. Chicken Tikka Masala: VERY sweet (??), stringy dry chicken and I swear there was cheese in this dish. Paratha: Like a sheet of rubber. Vegetable Samosa: Actually, really good. Hot, flaky and steamy inside. Modak dessert: not bad, soggy but I guess that's the point. To add salt to the festering wound that was our meal. All of the above cost $44!!!! with a 10% tip. In my personal opinion, this is not good Indian food. I won't be back, if only because there are so many other options in town that are better. Shame too, as I live in Inman Park and was hoping for some tasty local Indian food. Oh well.

Great little Indian restaurant, a fine addition to L5P. We had two lunch specials, samosas, and 2 orders of naan for under $30 w/tip. The samosas tasted a bit salty at first, but were really great. The soup of the day was excellent and all the portions of Aloo Kopi and Channa Massala were generous. The service was excellent, friendly and prompt. Niramish is light on decor and atmosphere, but the yummy food and friendly staff makes it an easy repeat.

I've been here several times and find the food reliably tasty and reasonably priced. With my first couple of visits, my dining companion and I were lectured by the owner on how to eat our food ("It goes very well to mix with the rice!"), which upped the entertainment value of the meal immensely. The owner has hired additional staff in recent months and seems to be keeping to the back room. Fortunately, the rest of the staff seems to have been instructed in his tableside manner.

  • Laura B.

The atmosphere is not the best but the food is good and portions are huge. Don't let the owner tell you how much you need to order (unless you have 3 invisible friends). He will however let you know how to eat your food...as in putting the rice on your plate and adding the dish. Then you must smoosh them together, you can't just mix them or put one on top of the other. God forbid, that would never taste the same. Totally worth it though. He obviously takes pride in his business and you have to love that.

I'm still trying to decide what was worse, the incredibly inefficient service or the food which tasted anything but traditional insofar as Indian cuisine is concerned. I decided to give Niramish a try because of its endorsement by Scoutmob. Typically, they are on the mark but this one was a complete miss. The service bordered on horrendous with my party having difficulty keeping the waiter at our table long enough to place our order. My husband had dirty knives dropped in his lap...twice...one of our ordered dishes was forgotten, and our table was constantly getting cleared, albeit prematurely. The food was equally, if not more, disappointing than the service. As someone who is married to an Indian and has traveled throughout India itself, there was nothing authentic about this cuisine whatsoever. The tikka masala gravy lacked the creamy, exotic flavor that it is famous for and the thali was thoroughly disappointing with its soggy veg korma and saag paneer which tasted as if it had been dispensed from a vending machine. The only thing that I was thankful for by the end of the meal was the naan, which was non-greasy and made relatively well compared to everything else on the table. Bottom line, if you're looking for a true taste of India, search elsewhere, since it exists in abundance in Atlanta...but definitely not at Niramish.

We went here the other night and I might have a new favorite Indian place in L5P. It was that good. Completely different from Planet Bombay and, in my opinion, much better. I'm vegetarian, and the boy is vegan, and we had plenty of options. Samosa, garlic naan, tandoori vegetables and a channa masal dosa, all were fantastic. Service was great, as well. We'll definitely be back.

New Indian restaurant in Little 5 Pts. My wife and I went here the other night. The food was really good. It's all vegetarian or fish, just FYI. They do a vegetarian combo that comes with three dishes served in smaller portions plus an appetizer and desert. The owner, who is really helpful and friendly, recommended we try this. It was really good, as was the saag paneer. My wife and I will definitely be back.

Good stuff! I was really happy with Niramish. The food was well seasoned and spiced, generous portions. I didn't experience the same over-attentiveness because it was pretty crowded. I think this is one of the best places to eat in Little Five Points. Probably not the best Indian food in Atlanta but it is a convenient location if you are going to a show or shopping in Little Five. I will go back for more.

The service was somewhat brief and rude - it as if they have already decided the customers won't like them? I'm really not sure, but I just didn't get the sense that the wait staff is excited to work here, excited about the food, or excited about the customers. It is a basic expectation these days that a restaurant staff demonstrate that they actually care - your customers are unlikely to care more than you do! The food was also a bit weak - like they substituted sugar for Indian spices, which is a fairly normal way to Americanize Indian food, but isn't my own preference.

Have you ever had one of those times in your life where you wake up one morning and realize that you go to the same places, over and over again? Like that movie Groundhog Day? Well I've been having one of those months. So I decided to shake up my routine a bit and try a new restaurant...something I want to do more often. I drove to L5P and thought I'd give Niramish a try. The one thing I immediately noticed, was how quiet the inside of the restaurant was. It was a nice little escape from the noise outside. I ordered something I forget the name of, but it was quite good - a chicken dish with cream sauce (Pandaloo?), rice and a side of nan bread. The straight-from-the-oven nan bread couldn't have been much better! If I had any gripes, it would be that they didn't have any bottled water, so I decided to go with tap. The restaurant was small, but a cozy kind of small, not cramped. From the previous reviews, I was expecting to be right up against the adjacent tables, but this wasn't the case at all. Niramish is a nice find, and I would highly recommend you give a try. Thanks Kathleen & Nikki for your reviews!

just got done eating dinner here and i am stuffed! the owner is very eager in helping you pick out your food. he recommends the vegetable platter that comes with the appetizer combo, naan, rice, three choices of veggie and a dessert (rice pudding, yum!) to everyone. he also recommends you get a fish dish to have a meat. we went with a tofu dish. everything we had was delightful and we will totally go back. i think my friend was a little annoyed with his specific recommendations on how to eat the food. i didn't really care. i just thought it was cool he was so stoked about it all.
