We went there before a show at the Fox. Service was good and the food and drinks were amazing. Our wait staff - Rachel - was great. Good atmosphere and beautiful location - really convenient to the Fox. Can't wait to go again.

First off this place doesn't properly acknowledge reservations. I made a reservation for six people for 9pm to celebrate my two step-daughters birthday after a fun filled day at the Aquarium. We arrived at 8:58pm & was told that even though we have reservations we will have a 30 plus minute wait because they got busy. REALLY.....????? So I ask "what is the point of a reservation if we have to wait" the only explanation available is " we got busy". This is totally unprofessional in business. Your reservation books are always there & available so knowing a 9pm party is coming why on earth would you sit people at the table reserved for the party. Get to the table after 9pm & start to order & two items we ordered were both unavailable. Red Snapper Tacos (Out of Snapper) & Jerk Wings (No wings available for 45 minutes) REALLY???!!! I don't understand how we are in a Carribean restaurant & the signature dishes are unavailable knowing the magnitude of a crowd that is expected. This place doesn't hold down the Negril Village name like the NYC location in the Village. The only reason I decided to take my family to Negril Village while in ATL was solely based on our numerous experiences at Negril back in NYC. The ATL location is a disappointment for me & with my frequent visits to ATL it's SAD because I will NOT return unless I'm taken dragged by my hair kicking & screaming.

This was my first time eating West Indian food since my honeymoon in Jamaica. The food was awesome! I loved my chicken roti, and the fried plantains were delicious. The mac n cheese was also quite tasty. My goodness, that hot sauce is outta this world! Whoo mama! Service could have been more attentive considering there were only a few tables there for lunch. Our sweet tea and water were empty often due to the spicy food. It took a few minutes for our server to pass by and get a refill. Also, you have to pay for parking in the lot beside the building. It would be nice if they comped parking like other restaurants in the area. Overall, it's a good lunch option in the Midtown neighborhood.

So this is going to sound kind of strange given the three star rating, but I really enjoyed this place. The ambience is great- it's located in a renovated 1907 firehouse! Additionally, the customer service was on point. The reduction in my rating results from my perception of the cost to quality of the food. I ordered the jerk chicken and waffles which was $18.00 I also had a fruit punch so my bill came up to roughly $23. The meal was good, but not worth what I paid for it. The same quality of food is served at Mangos for about half the cost! Yes, the ambience is superior here, and of course that is what you are paying for! I will patronize this business again, however, it will be infrequent.

Born and bred Jamaican with a formal training and a degree in hotel management - and I have to say the staff from management to bartender to host were as pleasant as can be as well as attractive and well groomed. Food was an infusion of traditional Jamaican and Puerto Rican cuisine which makes for an awesome blend in itself. Recommend the ackee tostones and cod fish balls and ginger brick chicken. Very healthy but limited menu. Ambiance was good very good location and historic building. 5 stars. Will go back for more

4 because the restaurant itself is extremely nice and the food was actually good. 3 for everything else. More upscale than any Caribbean/Jamaican restaurant I've ever been too. The food was extremely good, even though our entrees came out "not so hot". I tried two different cocktails, the Mai Tai, which is served in a huge tiki mug, but only a 4th of the mug is filled with drink. It was tasty, but I was a little confused by the amount of drink. And, I had the hibiscus margarita, which I didn't like at all. My friend had the Dark and Stormy, that was good. But, can you really mess up ginger beer and rum? Our waitress was nice. But, it did take forever to get food and drinks. I'm not necessarily sure that was her fault thought, because the wait time for everything there was to long. There were only 3 tables with people, but we waited ten minutes to be seated (with a reservation), and another 5 mins to get water. And, it just took entirely to long to get food, that wasn't even hot. Good, but not hot. And, the prices were a little high for the drinks, and the service didn't make me feel good about shelling out $100 on Caribbean food. (I guess they have to pay for that beautiful space somehow) Overall, I would go back because I would like to see this restaurant succeed. Hopefully, they improve on the service part as far as being expedient and not having people wait to be seated when only 3 tables are occupied. It's a sizable place, so I really didn't get that part. And if the food can be hot when brought out, that would be nice too. I'll give them another chance, but may stay away from overpriced undersized cocktails. And, just focus on the food.

Food was good but service sucked. We were celebrating a friends birthday. She wanted oxtails but they were out of them at 5pm. We told the server it was her birthday. Two tables down they came played the song on a horn and brought her a dessert. I asked the waitress if she forgot my friends birthday. She said, oh yeah you did tell me that. They played the song, brought the dessert. Got my bill, the dessert was on the bill. While I didn't mind paying $8, they should tell you it is not complimentary. The manager says no restaurants give complimentary desserts. Tell that to Capital Grill, Asante and practically every reputable restaurant. Not likely to ever go back.

Great for brunch. Unlimited mimosas, live music, and great food make for a nice and laid back brunch. The bread-pudding is amazing!

My experience was overall good.. Ordered the jerk chicken and pineapple infused waffle. Food was really good, fresh, hot, with good flavor. I like the patio area, it wasn't too crowded. My server was ok, seem like he might been busy because he kept forgetting things. I will be back to dine in again.

I was impressed with the food and I tried two dishes in two days with my husband who did as well. I had the jerk chicken and the next day the oxtails with plantain. Then my husband had the escovitch and the oxtail pasta which were divine. The jerk chicken was spicy but it did not overwhelm by being too hot. My husband's oxtail pasta was nothing like I ever tasted and it was amazing with the creme sauce. Then as sides we had the Mac and Cheese and the codfish fritters which were lite with an avacado sauce. You could taste the butter in the Mac and Cheese. Now for the drinks which include the bottomless mimosas on Saturdays and Sunday's with the right touch of champagne. My favorites drinks are the mango mojitos, painkiller( you will feel no pain), Moscow mule with the tin cup. The drinks are flavorful and are mixed to perfection. Last but not least, the customer service was excellent on both days. Our servers were courteous ,professional, friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu. None of their recommendations were bad. Please go because if you don't you are missing out on good food.

Venue: Went here during lunch. This location just opened in March 2014. Beautiful building and has that "upscale casual" ambiance going on. Definitely a great date spot. Also, I can see it being busy on a weekend night. Food: Started with Cod Fritters, the entrees were Oxtails and Curried Chicken Roti and sides of rice and peas and mac and cheese. All plates were delish! I don't even like Oxtails and I enjoyed those. Service: We were the only ones in there so it wouldn't be fair for me to review. But I will say the server was very attentive and kept glasses full and took care of our needs. Why Four Stars: There is a Negril sign for parking across the street at the Bank of America building and they don't validate. I think that if they advertise parking for a garage, there should be validation there.

I dropped in briefly during the preview tonight as I live next door, and it looks like it is going to be great. I did not get to try any of the food, the selection looks good but the prices in the $20-$30 range. They did not have their liquor license yet, but were offering virgin frozen drinks, and they were not just coming out of a mix bottle. The inside of the restaurant is really nicely done, and the upstairs reminiscent of NYC.

I ordered the goat stew and the Jamaican bread pudding for dessert. Both fell short of expectations. The goat stew did not pair well at all with the jasmine rice, and it was very bony. Granted goat is bony in general, but there was very little meat. The bread pudding was the biggest disappointment only because it had so much potential to be great. It is served in deep bowl which makes it impossible to get to the glaze at the bottom and they serve more ice cream then bread pudding. On top of everything the bread pudding itself was cold. If it was plated differently and hot it when have been great.

I brought a large party of 15+ out of town family member here for dinner last week. I called ahead an spoke with the management about what they felt would be special for the evening. We came up with a family style menu with a little something from all parts of the menu. Its was 4 luxurious courses! Service was amazing! From start to finish they treated us like royalty! Half the group was familiar with Caribbean food the other not at all but the staff regaled us with stories about how the food was cooked, the history of dishes and cocktails. IT was great! The bartender and waitstaff were extremely attentive and polite. FOOD: Mic drop! If you can say that about food! We had codfish fritters, lobster bisque, jerk wings, salad, as course 1 & 2. Next the jerk salmon and steak. OMG excellent cut of meat, so tender and flavorful! Also Mac & cheese, sauteed veg, ginger lime chicken (delicious soft and melt in your mouth and I never order chicken) There was so much food and fun!! Hands down one of the best places for large groups!! The family is still raving!!

I will start by saying, I am not a Jamaican food connoisseur so read on knowing I am not going to scrutinize my experience as much as a native would. Other than the annoying $6 parking you have to pay for next door, we had a good time. I did go with a Jamaican friend and she said it was "good"....note, not "great", but "good". The ambiance is GORGEOUS (check out upstairs where they have a beautiful private space). A little odd that the restrooms are super far as they are upstairs and a long walk down. I had the jerk salmon and we had the mac and cheese & fried dumpling as sides. All was delicious. It was a bit empty which was disappointing considering it was Sunday brunch time. I would come back for dinner to see if it is a hipper crowd. They REALLY need to take care of the parking situation and add valet like every other restaurant in Atlanta offers. It is simply obnoxious!

If there were 15 stars I would rate them all 15!!! Food was DELICIOUS! Service was exceptional and God graced me with perfect patio weather to go along with it. I had Jerk Shrimp and steamed cabbage both great. I tried the codfish fritter and it was ok. The strawberry piña colada was on point and the music had me feeling like I was in a vacation. Beautiful building as well

Great food and beautiful decor. Such a cool relaxed atmosphere. I will defintiely come back. It's funny I pass this place all the time and never even noticed it. They need a bigger sign because it is definitely a hidden gem.

Really chill spot that is exquisitely arranged inside. Met up here with the pilot crew last Thursday to bring in the weekend and was pleasantly surprised. Our waitress was attentive, patient, very friendly and made several good recommendations for dinner, among which was the red snapper. My favorite is the lobster shrimp and grits--I know, not even close to jamaican--because it's well executed and hits all the high notes in the savory department. My crew of a baker's dozen also had oxtail, here wings, chicken roti and no one complained... Not even our St. Maarten connect. I'm sure there's more "authentic" Caribbean somewhere, but if you're more concerned with good good and a great atmosphere, this is your spot. We'll be back.

We went here to celebrate a friend's birthday. It is located right outside of North Avenue train station for those that ride Marta. Upon entering, the decor is soothing and nicely updated from Engine 11 (former restaurant located here). There is an upstairs lounge and the restrooms are located upstairs as well. This is a great place for a date night. Valet parking is $10 or you can park across the street at Bank of America for $3-$5 depending on the time. The food was delicious. Collectively we ordered the Jerk Wings (grilled and very spicy....yummy), Carrot Coconut Ginger soup (this is the best soup I have ever tasted), Chicken Roti (flavorful but missing heat, so I ordered a side of pepper sauce and I was good to go), Curried Goat Stew (I did not taste this but I was told it was delicious except for having to take out the bones), and Oxtails (the reviews on this we mediocre...seasoned well but hardly no meat) and their were 4 orders of the Mac and Cheese (it was very tasty but a hefty $10 charge...this could be a meal by itself for the size). I plan on taking my hubby here for one of our date nights. This is definitely a must try if you are in the mood for caribbean food in a classy spot. I rarely ever give 5 stars but this restaurant came close. We were given a broken table and nothing was done about it when we informed an employee; therefore, I had to take off a star.

What a wonderful experience. Ambiance, food and customer service was on point. I love this restaurant. I will add it to the short list of favorite restaurants in Atl that I adore. The jerk chicken and waffles were perfect and the tropical mimosas for Sunday brunch were terrific!!!

I enjoyed dinner on Saturday here. Our reservation was for 7:30. We were running a few minutes late and they were happy to accommodate us. The space was laid back and quiet except for the music which was a good mix of lively and current. Our server Brandy was awesome! She really enhanced our experience. Her personality was great and she was quick to explain the menu plus the building since it is an old fire station. The other employees were great too but we truly enjoyed how personable Brandy was! We thought the food was good but not outstanding. We will be back based on service more than anything.

The food here is great. I do not think it taste very authentic, but it is a nice spin on Caribbean food. Food: Anything Oxtail here is great. I had the Oxtail empanadas. So delicious! I also tried the Oxtail hash. Yum! However it was not enough food for me. The Jerk wings are seasoned nicely, but they are not spicy at all. I've had the waffles with the jerk wings as well. I was thinking the waffles would have had something special about them, but they were just plain waffles. The Mac N Cheese was homemade & delicious! Ambiance: I have sat both inside & on the patio and both were very comfortable, clean & a great setting. Service: I've been twice & the service was always very quick. However, I did also go before the crowd (on a Sunday right when they re-open at 5p & on a Saturday at 11:30am for brunch). Overall I think it is a great restaurant & I will be back!

Loved it!!!! I had the Beet Salad and the Blackened Salmon on top and it was great! Great lunch! Very fast, affordable, you cannot beat the decor. Carrot Ginger soup was a great appetizer! I went with my boss and he has some allergies and they accommodated him with his lunch and his was great as well! The lobster burger was worth the $15 bucks! The veggie quinoa was also fantastic! My co-worker ordered it and she did not want the remainder so I took it w me and ate it the next day IT WAS GREAT!

Negril Village, what can I say. I drive past this spot every week, and never noticed it. It sits between W. Peachtree and Peachtree streets on North Ave. Well, now I'm glad I was turned on to it. They have a nice laid back atmosphere, the staff is friendly and attentive to guest. I didn't have a chance to view the menu, they catered the party I was attending, in one of the rooms on the second level. And the food they served was excellent.... It will definitely be on my favorite places to eat list, and recommend trying it out, if your ever in the North Ave area.

Unlike some of the other reviewers, I had fantastic service here and the food was divine. I'm a wings aficionado and the jerk wings here were perfectly cooked and spiced. I loved the DJ and that all the coworkers were dancing. Super lovely vibe and food.

Venue: We did not eat at the restaurant (my husband picked up our order to-go). He mentioned it being more upscale than most other Caribbean restaurants but he did have to pay for parking. Should have a spot on the street for take-out orders. Food: We ordered 3 different dishes: Oxtails, Ginger Chicken, and Jerk Chicken. Let me start off by saying that all of these entrees were EXTREMELY overpriced!! Our total bill was $75.00 before leaving a service gratuity. Compared to other Caribbean/Jamaican restaurants, the food had smaller portions at a MUCH higher price point and it didn't include the rice and peas - a staple of Caribbean cuisine. They charged $5.00 for the rice and peas side and in my 3-year old's opinion, "was very dry". As for the Oxtail, it was not cooked long enough in that it was difficult to pull the meat off the bone. The sauce had decent flavor but again the portion size was smaller than expected. The Jerk chicken and Ginger chicken were cooked well with adequate flavors. Lastly, the fried plantains were cooked perfectly but grossly overpriced. Based upon our experience, we will probably not return to this establishment and will rely on our true and trusted favorite Jamaican restaurants in the metro area.

Came here for lunch with some coworkers. It's a gorgeous restaurant, very nicely decorated. The verdict? Service - I give service 1 star. The waiter made us feel very rushed. Did not even try to talk to us, only took our order and ran off. Food came out quickly, however before we even took a bite he dropped the bill on the table and took off. No one ever came around to ask us how we were doing or if we enjoyed the food. There was a snafu when we tried to pay our bill and apply a 15% coupon we had. The waiter was clueless and blamed the POS. We asked for the manager and he was able to fix the problem but then never came by to follow up. Management, train your staff and yourselves on proper customer service and etiquette. Food - I give it 1.5 stars. My coworker ordered the snapper fish tacos which he said tasted very bland. My other co worker ordered the ginger lime chicken and she said she could of done a better job at home. The chicken lacked any ginger flavor and was dry. I ordered the chicken sandwich, it also was very dry. Disappointing Restaurant/Parking - Restaurant was really nice and the finishes were very high end. However, parking was $5 or $3 at Bank of America across the street. Overall - We all decided the food was not good, the service was lacking, and will not warrant a repeat return.

Worst West Indian restaurant in Atlanta. Poor customer service! I was in a party of 12 & my order was not recorded. After waiting 45+ minutes, Everyone at the table got their food but me. I was done. It's been a while since I've walked out of an establishment. Enter at your own risk!

Great addition to Atlanta! Love the decor. Great food. Wonderful service. Definitely plan to return again in the near future. Food recommendations include: plantains (they were cooked perfectly), jerk chicken (if you enjoy spicy food - ask for more sauce), rice and peas, and all of the other veggies were good too. Only downside is that you have to pay to park. We had cash with us so I'm not 100 percent sure if you can use a credit card. We also went during lunch which was great because the restaurant was not very crowded; Easy to park and we were seated as soon as we walked into the restaurant.

Throughly enjoyed my visit to Negril Village. The decor was the first thing I noticed when I walked inside and it was very nicely finished. The place used to be a fire station and it was very fascinating to see how the place was transformed. As I walked pass the kitchen to go to the restroom upstairs, I can smell the wonderful smell of oxtails brewing in the kitchen. I had a lobster salmon burger and also had ginger chicken. They both were good. I highly recommend this place if you want to go somewhere nice and have good food. Oh! I almost forgot the best part! Desert! I had rum cake with ice cream and it was amazing! Try it today...don't wait!

Had reservations at first being that I am from Jamaica - not many Jamaican restaurants pass the "test". The food was surprisingly good! They are fairly new so still a little work to be done. It is a bit expensive for lunch - I think they are still on the New York high. I dont think Atlantans will pay that much for lunch - those are more dinner prices. I ordered the Jerk Pork and that was ~$14 after tax, they comp'd our drinks because they didn't have what we ordered - which we really appreciated. A few notes for management for the LUNCH time crowd: 1. Try to keep the lunch menu (per entree) under or at $10 2. The same idea behind the sides - try to keep that under $4 I will definitely go back - but will have some reservations about the prices. The atmosphere is great - they have lots of space upstairs for events and in the basement also. I hope they make it work for the Atlanta market as I see a lot of potential in this place. I will try it for dinner and compare the difference.

I attended Negril Village for a Sunday brunch date and it was an awesome dining experience. The host, busser, server, bartender, and manager were all in sync. I had the Steak and egg, which were amazing(thumbs up to the culinary team). The cut of steak and marbling was perfect for its price point. I give the white sangria a 9/10 and the fruit salad with mango purée 10/10. The decor is also a one of a kind beauty I won't even try to describe. I will be returning soon!

Went this past weekend with a group of girlfriends from out of town. First off, lets say that they offered bottomless mimosas during Saturday brunch that were delicious! I had pancakes and the shrimp and grits. It was awesome. We also had the rum glazed shrimp for an appetizer which was amazing as well. The service was friendly and quick, not to mention we got 10% off for checking in with Yelp. As it was a beautiful day we sat outside, but walking through the building to the restroom, it is gorgeous! Wonderful place to host a party! My friends had the ackee and saltfish and oxtail hash, which they both enjoyed. Must go here if in the Atlanta area. I will be back!

The atmosphere is beautiful right off Marta and there is also good parking. The brunch is the best! I had the pineapple waffles and jerk chicken . the waffles were amazing the chicken was desperately under cooked . And the waiters were a little slow but this place has great potential !

Mixed emotions.. food good.....server......was interesting in one area.....and didn't follow thru on another.. will I ever come back? ........no. Oxtails had great seasoning......rice was cold.......awesome music. How do you NOT know if you have dessert an hour before you close. .....now with that said I couldn't log onto Internet and she pulled out her phone to let me use her personal connection........argh!!!!! I'm so confused!!!! Lol. I don't know why this review wants more....sorta like that restaurant

Worst hostess experience for Sunday brunch even with a reservation. Did not get a table with no crowd and no wait and was pretty much ignored. We arrived at our specified reservation time, was asked to wait at the bar. 20 minutes later (after finally getting eye contact) the same annoyed hostess came and asked us the same questions we answered upon arrival...how many in your party? We answered and still didn't get a table. Ended up leaving and going to Highland Bakery where we were seated right away and served our food quickly after. It was my first time at Negril village and I was very disappointed in the service. Someone said to me that I shouldn't be surprised at the service because it's a Caribbean restaurant, I don't think that should be an excuse...at all. Won't be going back, needless to say.

I'm a week late on writing this review but I had a wonderful experience at Negril Village. It was my best friends birthday and this was her chose. Everyone who worked there was wonderful. The food was great and the service excellent. The biggest surprise was the bartender playing happy birthday on the trumpet. My friend loved it. I will definitely be back.

A REAL Food Review: My bf and I ordered DRINKS: Mango Sweet Tea. The tea tasted like someone made a HUGE batch of tea and sat it UNCOVERED in a refrigerator! It tasted of refrigeration/tap water and sugar. My bf then ordered the regular Sweet Tea (keep in mind we didn't complain to server, because ultimately it wasn't her fault). Even the REGULAR sweet tea tasted of old refrigeration. FOOD: I had Lobster & Shrimp Burger- SALTY as $&@?. Like they literally made a patty of lobster, shrimp, and a pound of SALT! I could no longer take it, so i let the Server know and she let me choose a diff entree. I had Curry Shrimp and the rice was ROOM-TEMPERATURE! The curry sauce was also VERY salty, but i struggled through it. The only thing I will say about the server is that she did not pick up on non-verbal cues :-( She was friendly but our face read: THIS IS HORRIBLE, PLEASE HELP! But once again I didnt want to give her a hard time because it wasn't her fault per sé. My bf had the Jerk Chicken and the rice & beans was ROOM TEMPERATURE (once again). Also we overheard our server tell another guest they were out of a couple menu items (not good for a Friday night). The GOOD: Mac & Cheese is delicious but $8.00 for appx a cup of mac & cheese. Caesar Salad was tasty but had these rock-hard croutons. Unfortunately, we will NOT be back.

Came here to meet up with friends for brunch. Upon arriving some notes to make: the parking lot is very small. However on Sunday's, you can find free street parking in the area. We had a 12pm reservation and got there slightly after. It was our fault for being late, so that could have affected it, but it was as if we didn't have a reservation because we still had a quite lengthy wait. Once we were sat, our server quickly brought us drinks and got our orders. There was live music being played by the band which was a great ambiance, but too loud to easily have a conversation with your friends/family. I ordered the bananas foster French toast with a side of plantains and the drink called painkiller. Everything was great. My boyfriend ordered the jerk chicken and waffles and that was really good as well. I was able to try a friends fried dumplings and mammie (neither of which I've ever had) and both were good!! The only reason this review receives 4 out of 5 stars is because the price of the food doesn't equate to the amount of food received. Either up the portion size or lower the price $5 or so.

Food is pretty decent, which is why I'm giving 3 stars instead of 2. Be the first Jamaican restaurant that honors their reservations and not have me waiting an hour to be seated. Hire professional servers and pay them extra so that they show up for work on your busiest nights instead of telling me the kitchen is an hour behind. Work out a deal with the parking lot next to the restaurant so that I don't have to dodge traffic from parking across the street where there is no crosswalk. Build out your bar reputable to Jamaica. I looked at the shelf and there was nothing up there worth ordering. If you really want ideas, email me. Don't get crappy like footprints

Our new favorite Jamaican restaurant in the city! My sister and I stumbled upon this hidden gem after having a taste for jerk chicken. We quickly learned that the entire menu was worth salivating over. From the rum glazed shrimp, the mac & Cheese, the jerk salmon and lobster & grits. Negril Village Atlanta is a must if you're in the midtown area. Oh yes! I can't forget to mention the Jamaican Moscow Mule - the staff makes their own ginger beer, which is absolutely refreshing. If you're in need of something sweet, please please please order the bread pudding!!! Atmosphere + food + customer service gives this place 5 stars.

The food at that place was lackluster at best. There was only 1 other couple there besides me and my friend- so how could they be out of 2 of the main Jamaican dishes--curried goat and oxtails???? There also was some concern from the staff that they were out of Pina Colada mix...WTF? The food was a bit bland. I had the Ginger Brick Chicken which came with cabbage and about 4 rounds of sweet potato and I ordered plantains. My friend had the curried Roti which came with plaintains. Definitely nothing to write home about. I ate it because I was starving, but my stomach was a bit upset when I got home. We initially sat outside looking DIRECTLY at the gray raincloud and our waitress says "there's no rain in the forecast". Again, WTF??? It has rained EVERY DAY for the last 2 weeks, so we gave her major side-eye. Guess what happened next? We had to move inside because the wind picked up and it poured! How was the band they advertised? We wouldn't know because they are no longer playing there! The place was a ghost town. Although beautifully designed, who gives a rats ass about decor when the food is a bust? Must be called the ambience diet.... Screw that....I'll take my business elsewhere.

I took my VERY Jamaican cousin and my VERY American 4 year old here for my birthday dinner last night, and I actually think I might go back for lunch, today. I loved the Red Snapper. My cousin didn't leave a speck on her plate of her curried goat. And, my baby girl slurped up the Jerk Wings. The drinks were tasty and strong (Jamaican Moscow Mule and the Rum Punch). I was most surprised by how much I adored the Mac and Cheese; probably the best I've had in Atlanta. There was something "Caribbean" about the flavor, but I just can't put my finger on it. The service was excellent. We didn't have to wait long for anything, and everyone seemed to want to help out. The atmosphere and decorations are very nice, and high end. The platings of the dishes goes along with the upscale decor. I would take away, maybe, half a star for the price (a little expensive for Jamaican), but it is upscale and it must be difficult and expensive to get such authentic flavors.....we'll stick with 5 stars.

This place is overpriced, and overrated. I called in for a take out order and it was a mess. I ordered the jerk chicken dinner and was soooo disappointed. The chicken was dry. While the sauce was good, I'm pretty sure the dinner was supposed to include a side. I got a bunch of rice and no side. My significant other ordered the oxtail dinner and also didn't receive a side. For the price we paid for our food I would expect better. I will not be returning.

I went there late on a Thursday night with a few friends. First we had shots. Then when ordered appetizers. The shots were good. The bartender created some kind of drink. It was good. I don't remember what it was. ;). But it was good. The appetizers we had were rice and peas, wings, plantain, and codfish fritters. All of it was good This place was good but nothing beats home!! NYC!!!

WOW is all I can say! We have passed by this place several times and finally got an opportunity to stop in last night. First of all, I was born and raised in Brooklyn (Little Jamaica) and Both of my best friends in life were Jamaican, and my wife and I hae visited Jamaica SEVERAL times so I have had my share of Jamaican food. With that being said the food was GREAT! We started out with the Curry Chicken Roti (really a trini dish) as and appetizer and it was simply amazing! My wife had the Ginger Lime Brick Chicken, it was great! I had the Oxtails and they were tender and very tasty. Our drinks were on POINT! I had the Rum Punch and my wife had the Negril's Rum Cream. The staff was friendly and very attentive. And our waitress was very helpful with helping us select our drinks and entrees The ambiance and decor was great and the music/dj was very nice. The prices ARE high but it was worth it to us. We will definitely be back soon!

Had the oxtails dinner menu. They where excellent. The rum punch reminded me of Jamaica!!! Those things sneak up on you. Overall great experience. Waitstaff was on point. Decor dark woods give that island feel.

I've been four times and every time this business gets it right! I love how professional the staff is. The food is unbelievably great. Do yourself a favor and have the calypso shrimp. The plantain mash is good enough reason to come to Negril alone. Five stars all the way, they literally have done no wrong in my eyes. I highly recommend!

This restaurant has hands down the best mac and cheese I have ever had! And I'm no expert on grits but they were deeeeelish. The food overall is good and I was there with 3 friends and we all got a different drink from the menu, everyone liked their drink. The restaurant is in an old fire house and parts of the interior are very dramatic. I could see this being a good date restaurant. I didn't even mind the ghostly, get stabbed in a dark alley walk to the bathroom in the dark. It just added to the experience! And they have nice outdoor patio seating which is perfect on a warm evening. I am taking off one star because of service as have many other people. We went in on a weeknight and there were only two other tables that were being served. All of the customers were sitting in close proximity so keeping an eye out should have been easy. It was hard to get attention from our waitress, even just to get tableware, as she was casually hanging out a table away chatting with a friend.

Food was great, same with music! Service was rude and incredibly slow, especially on a slow night. Probably why they aren't busy on a Friday night. A place that has prices this high and a beautiful atmosphere needs to get the rest of their act together to make the experience worth it. Given the evening, I wouldn't be surprised if they shut down soon.

I've been here a couple of times before and absolutely LOVED it. Food is great and atmosphere is welcoming. Which is why when I had visitors come in, I bragged about coming here. Well I was so shame. We went on Sunday before last and was completely disappointed. After I boast about the oxtails, the restaurant ran out before we got there (around 12:30PM). So I settled for the Lobster, Shrimp and Grits (not the best). When it was time for my friend to order, she ordered, the French Toast. Waitress said they were out of that as well. WTH! She went for the Jerk Chicken and Waffles (still one of the best dishes on the menu). My other friend ordered the steak which was extremely overcooked. granted the best thing was the Jerk Chicken and Waffles, I was still upset that this JAMIACAN Restaurant had the audacity to run out of oxtails. Plus service was unnecessarily slow. Your Sunday Brunch has gotten more popular. Kitchen and Waitress staff should be able to accommodate crowd. This is one of my favorite restaurants and I would hate for them to go out of business due to poor management of food inventory, scheduling, and efficiency.

Great place. I stopped by on a Sunday for brunch as I was riding through Georgia on the way home from out of own. The food was excellent and customer service was great. It was a little pricey, but certainly worth the money we paid.

Decided to try something new for lunch today. I got to the restaurant at 12 sharp, there was not much people, and I got seated promptly. The restaurant is bright and airy with huge tall ceilings it has the simple elegance of an upscale restaurant with island vibe done tastefully. The food was good, service attentive and courteous, and fruit punch was off the chain great. The price, now here is where my complaint comes in. I spent $20+ for an oxtail lunch and drink, even if I was over the moon I couldn't bring my coworkers back this is definitely over lunch budget. There wasn't any main entry on the menu at $10, the owner may want to consider actually implementing a lunch menu that makes it easier for neighboring workers to be die hard regulars. I did check in and get 10% off, do give them a try on a splurge day

We tried to go to Gladys Knight's, but with a long wait, decided to explore for other options. It was great luck that we came across Negril. We were intrigued by the building (an old firehouse) and the menu items, but we're not expecting he beautiful devote inside - dark wood window sills and bar contrasting with white enamel-painted brick and white-painted pressed tin ceiling. It is a striking and beautiful space. Our server was superb and attentive. The food was delicious. I had the curry chicken roti; the chicken was tender and moist, and the curry very tasty with a characteristic Trinnie flavor. My colleague's jerk chicken was wonderful, starting sweet and finishing hot. The guava butter served with the buttermilk biscuits was amazing. Our other items were also quite good, but these three really stood out. Highly recommend.

Sunday evening reservations with 4 adults and a preschooler. We left underwhelmed and had high expectations. I think management needs to find their groove to smooth out the bumps. I may return after a few months. Good: Atmosphere, music and crowd were great. Attractive groups sitting on patio, inside and at bar. Crowd was light - perhaps because it was Sunday? Macaroni & cheese rocked! Drinks were on point and jerk chicken wings were delicious. Bad: Parking isn't $5 next door (privately owned) but $12 or more when there's a Fox Theater show. There is optional parking at Bank of America that has poor signage to alert you of this. No validation or anything available. Service was questionable. We had about 5 people attend to us but it was to pick up plates or drop off messed up orders - no water refills, no inquiries on how we were doing, what can I get you? O_o Overall: Comment on menu...Surprised that jerk only included plantains & a side. Typical caribbean plates include meat, rice and beans, veggie and maybe plantains. The up charge for another side felt like a rip off. This feels like a bar + appetizer spot and not for a family dinner. They need to break out of auto-pilot with customers and truly PAY ATTENTION to them. Provide takeout bags. Maintain a single server per table and serve them.

I wish I could give Negril Village more stars, but I don't think I experienced all they had to offer. Went last night for dinner with my girls and to listen to live music. Gritz and Jelly Butter was the band and they alone are worth the trip. We had planned to have dinner but the band was playing upstairs and you could only order dinner downstairs. So we opted to sit upstairs to hear the band but then were stuck with a bar like menu that had maybe 6 options. I had the jerk wings and they were a little burned but nice and spicy. Some friends got the fish tacos and thought they were mediocre at best. The codfish fritters were salty and mostly breading. And that's basically all the options they had except for tostones and fried oysters. Its a shame they didn't have more to offer. We would have gladly bought more if there was more. Not even any dessert options were available :-/ Still I want to give them another try because I don't feel like I really got to try the food since we were limited to the mini menu upstairs. Decor is nice, arrive early for parking on lot next to restaurant (it's small) otherwise park across the street.

This place is absolutely amazing. The decor is spot on and the food is well worth the visit. This New York transplant is a great addition to the Atlanta scene!!! The oxtails were tender and tasty, the roti was reminiscent of home. I really wish I had more time to try a couple other dishes, as their menu is truly appealing. Oh, before I forget, there is this drink called "the Painkiller" it's a must try. Who would have thought, creme de cacao and sorrel could taste sooooo good?:-)

I love this place. First of all, the decor of this place is so very posh, yet classic. It reminded me of a resort classy restaurant for a little bit. We went there for lunch and had curried goat and baked chicken. From someone who is used to Caribbean restaurants in Boston that are usually small, dingy and sketchy looking, it was such an awakening experience to be in Negril Village. I absolutely adored their rice (hint of a slight coconut flavor), the serving size was not overwhelming either and was just enough. We had their mimosa type of cocktail and that was very refreshing as well. The waitress was super nice with a big smile on her face. Overall, I had such a great experience there!!

A more beautiful, chic and classy sister version of Negril Village in NYC. Drinks are to die and ambiance is the cherry on top. Best Dinner option if you can't decide when your in the made for the mama's cooking type of night.

Great people, amazing food and drinks. Went last night for a meeting, we stayed at our table for quite a while and were let to talk.. Had ackki tostones, roti curry goat and the "Jamaican Moscow mule (3) for my beverage. I was able to sample the goat before ordering which was nice. Beautiful spot will def go back!

I dined here yesterday with a party of 12. I love the location and the ambiance. I had the oxtails and a sampling of the jerk wings. The oxtail entrée was delightful BUT I wish they'd pair it with another side because I wasn't crazy about the veggies. The wings were amazing! Our party had endless mimosas as well. While they were really good, I think they should consider another serving glass OR make sure that refills are much quicker. If they use another (bigger) glass, it could reduce the refill requests. I will return very soon.

The food is absolutely delicious here especially the Mac and cheese. We went for their Dinner and a Movie night however there wasn't a movie because the projector wasn't working. Ended up watching a little of Madea, a little Inglorious Bastards, and some Denzel movie. Luckily the drinks were strong enough for me to survive through it.

I dined here for lunch. The food was pretty good. However, the jerk chicken could have used more sauce in my opinion. The grilled veggies tasted amazing. The server was nice and the hostess was extremely welcoming. I really liked the decor and the atmosphere. Very nice spot and location. I will return to check out the happy hour events and possibly Saturday and Sunday brunch to check out the cocktails.

OK. Not quite sure where to start here but my experience was bad enough to prompt me to write my first review on Yelp. I arrived to what was a totally empty bar and half filled dining room on a Saturday evening. We were seated right away and ordered the Negril Sangria and the rum punch. These drinks were horrible and sent back for modifications. The Sangria was overpwowering and unlike any Sangria Ive had before while the punch was too rich and sweet. We then ordered the collard green springrolls, chicken empinadas and fish tacos which took 25 minutes to arrive. The Collard green springrolls weren't bad but could have been crispier while the chicken empinadas were just ok. Then the kicker.....fish tacos; I've dined a lot of places all around the world and this is the first time myself or my wife have ever had to spit something out during our initial bite. I tried to get it down but it was horrible. You couldn't taste the fish, the queso fresco looked old and tasted bland while the pickled vegetables tasted like the bitterest piece of Arugula known to man. At that point I looked around and noticed our neighbors dish which was salmon that looked like it was vacuum sealed and frozen while the cabbage looked lifeless and overcooked. The 1 star I gave this place was because they didn't give us a hard time sending the fish tacos back. Matter of fact, they didn't even bother asking us what was wrong! Not quite sure but maybe this place is going thru some changes in the kitchen which would explain the previous good reviews. Thanks, but no thanks.....

I actually set up a yelp app to write this review, because I was so unhappy with the service, pricing and portions I received at this restaurant. 1. The host who is the son of the woman who owns the restaurant was very rude to me and my girlfriend when we attended the Mali concert at their restaurant, we had reservations for 2pm and we didn't get seated till 3:30 because he felt he didn't need to attend to us for whatever reason, there were seats open he could have sat two people at,but he was too busy flirting at the bar and when we finally got seated he proceeded to give us the worst service ever, the food came 45 minutes later and he even disrespected me so much my girlfriend commended me for not starting an altercation. I am FROM Atlanta, my lady and I are huge food connoisseurs to the point all the chefs make it a point to follow us on our social media and thank is for stoping by and having great reviews. I am also a huge supporter of black owned businesses in Atlanta (not because I'm racist) so neither I or my lady ask for discounts or extra, but we payed almost $30 for dinner size portions and we we're so upset with the way we were treated we didn't even want to stay but we didn't want to leave when we ordered already, we asked for the food to be put in to-go containers and were surprised and even more annoyed they brought back "baby portions" not what we paid for AT ALL. So for these reasons. I will never support that establishment and will never recommend the restaurant TO ANYONE. Which is sad because the lady who owns it was very nice. But the staff and her son definitely need some work in etiquette.

Waiters need tables numbered as the bus boys keep bringing the food out to the wrong tables. Ambiance is nice but i made a 9 PM reservations and they didnt have a table ready for me , my only option was the bar or sitting outside which i didnt want to but did as we had no other option. Spoons didn't come out with desert and bus boy brought them out to the wrong table. Food was good though but drinks took too long and we didnt even order alcohol. Lastly, parking is not good they dont have a lot for free you must pay to park no matter what. We Ended up happy didnt sit inside b/c music got louder at 930 and we wouldnt have been able to talk over it. Waiter did comp our desert due to us waiting ten minutes for the spoons. Waiter did try his best though and he did a good job. Id go back.

The drinks were great, that is THE ONLY reason they received 1 star. This was the worst customer experience I have had EVER. First my groups reservation was given away. We waited another hour to be seated. While the acting floor manager did give us all complementary drinks the evening only got worse after. We ordered our food at 10:30 the first plate didn't come until 11:45, then the last plate came at 12:15. (Please note the kitchen closed at 11). One person in my group ordered a meal when it came out she said "this isn't Rato" the store manager came out and said "that's how we make it" and didn't offer another meal and required she pay. Then the ultimate cherry on top - when we went to pay my receipt came back without the card. Thank goodness I noticed the waitress had dropped it on the other side of the restaurant (why was it over there? I digress) - after calling the manager to our table 5x he said "I've already spoke with you guys, sorry" oh. Ok. WORST SERVICE EVER. Don't go if there are more than two people.

My oxtail dinner came in 2 sizes. I ordered the larger portion, but it was still tiny. I literally got one slice of oxtail and a lump of rice. It was also overcooked. Way overpriced.

Visited Negril Village Atlanta with probably too many expectations, since I am a frequent customer at the New York location. Well, I can tell you that the decor in Atlanta has NYC beat hands down. Opulence greets you at the door, simply stunning and the staff were very professional. I ordered the rum punch and wasn't a fan, but the coconut rum punch in NYC is my favorite. I ordered the Red Snapper and was highly disappointed, considering this is a stewed dish and it came crunchy was disconcerting. Overall, I think I will stick with visiting Negril Village only in New York.

A new restaurant has graced MidTown Atlanta with some Jamaican flavor. Originating in New York, you will be pleased at what the menu has to offer. We visited Negril Village on it's second weekend of a soft open. Enjoy my review. Reason: Birthday dinner with a group of 13. Host loved them in NY and highly suggested it to host our celebration. Service: Friendly. Very attentive. Staff had a clean appearance. Parking: $5 3rd party vender. Venue: Nice clean looking space. Very white and dark wood. Beautiful bar. Restroom is up several stairs. I'm not sure if it is handicap accessible. Drinks: They just got their liquor license the day we visited so there was no drink menu. I highly recommend the Mango Mojito (though it taste like a regular Mojito; I didn't taste any mango) and the Rum Runners. Delish and strong! Food: Everyone at our table complemented on how delicious the food was. I had Curry Goat which came with a side of rice and veggies. The goat was very flavorful. I mean very! Even the veggies were great. My friend and I shared the Mac & Cheese. It was tasty although the center was cold. Other people at our table had the Snapper, Jerk Chicken, Ox Tail, and Fish Tacos. The Snapper and Jerk Chicken were generous portions. The Fish Tacos were on the appetizer menu but was a decent main dish portion if ordered with a side. Cost: For the food and location: $$. Dinner portion Curry Goat (comes with rice and veggies), Side of Mac & Cheese (that I shared with a friend but they couldn't split the order), and a Mojito came to $42 I would highly recommend visiting Negril Village and will definitely be visiting them again.

I had late evening dinner here on New Years Eve, and I was please with my Oxtails meal. However, I ordered and paid for Red Velvet cake as a take home desert. My waitress brought my desert out in a paper bag, and I couldn't wait for my dinner to digest on my way home. After arriving I was good and ready to have my second coming, then BAM!! There is was a freaking 'SMALL CUP CAKE'!!! :-/ What the @$#%!&! is that? I had been suckered into paying $8.00 for a freaking small CUP CAKE! If I didn't live 30 miles away, I would have jumped in my car and took that small cup-cake back to Negril Village and demanded my $8.00 back! Food seems good, but the deserts are a big SHAM!!!

This place looks absolutely beautiful!! Unfortunately decor will not fill me up. I went for lunch with my husband. He had the jerk salmon, I had the red snapper tacos. The salmon was clearly not fresh (frozen fillet from a bag). He asked for it to be prepared medium, it came out well done. The tacos had very little fish which was not red snapper, more like catfish. We only ate it because we were both starving and I had to get back to work. We will definately not return.

Went there today for Mother's Day brunch with a party of four. We had reservations for 2:00 pm and arrived 10 minutes early. Did not get seated until close to 2:30 pm but I suppose that is understandable since it was Mother's Day and restaurants are generally quite packed, as was the case here. I am Jamaican and am often disappointed at the food when I try Jamaican restaurants here in Atlanta. Definitely NOT in this case! The food came out quickly despite the fact that they had so many patrons. We had the Jamaican breakfast (ackee and salt fish, bammy, festival, calaloo, fried dumplings, and green bananas), and the Jerk Chicken and Oxtails, both of which came with rice and peas and plantains. All were extremely tasty. We left satisfied and happy and will definitely be back! If you want authentic Jamaican cuisine that is pleasing to the palate and the eye, please check this place out. There are other items on the menu that are also traditionally American from which to choose as well. Happy!

This space, which I have seen as other establishments over the years, is now occupied by what could be the next best Atlanta restaurant. This modern and chic space--with melodic island tunes filling the air--brings it on every level: food, atmosphere, customer service and did I mention food? The companion to the NY Caribbean spot bears all the hallmarks of a go-to place in a city that loves good restaurants. In three visits, I met congenial owners Marva and Sim, who are skilled at creating a memorable dining experience, and upbeat and accommodating Julian, who skillfully executes a tasty, versatile cocktail menu. The front patio will be a difficult table to get once the weather breaks. The decadent upstairs space begs for private/special events. For someone who enjoys food and a place that promotes comfort and socializing, Atlantans should be excited to experience this new gem.

I was excited about trying a new Jamaican restaurant and supporting a good friend who had his book signing there. I was pleasantly surprised at how elegant and sophisticated the decor was but that was the total of what was good about my experience. I made reservations but had to wait more than 30 minutes to be seated. After finally getting seated we waited another 30 minutes before our waitress came to the table. I ordered the quinoia with roasted vegetables and grilled salmon and my date ordered the curried goat. I am one to normally eat food even when it's subpar and just not order it again the next time, but I tried to eat the salmon but it was too charred and I couldn't get beyond it. I asked the waitress if I could get a replacement for the piece I didn't touch and she explained that she would get the manager. Well we waited about 15 minutes and some guy who I thought was the manager asked how we were doing & I explained and he said no problem we will get that right out to you. After another 30 minutes the waitress came by & I explained that I still hadn't gotten my salmon and to just bring me the check because at this point I'm no longer hungry she then asked if I wanted them to take it off the check I said whatever you can do. well she brought the check & I really didn't look at it at first and put the card in there so when it came back I noticed the amount seemed extremely high so I asked for the itemized receipt. When she came back with the itemized receipt apparently it had been thrown in the trash because it was wrinkled and stained and just like I thought she had charged us for 3 entrees instead of 2. She said well since I ran your card already can I just give you the cash. They took $2.00 off for the salmon and that was the extinct of trying to "make things right" . I have no plans to go back after that fiasco!! I'm really surprised by all of the great reviews.

I am writing this review because I like to read reviews about a place or product before I purchase or go. Reviews do help in the decision making process. However, sometimes you just have to take a leap of Faith!! But, the reviews for this establishment were pretty consistent and this was the spot for our Girls Night Out White Out!! Never been here and I must say I wasn't disappointed! This place is centrally located in the city of Atlanta. There is a parking lot right beside the restaurant. It cost me only $5 on a Saturday evening! Not bad at all. Upon entering I was welcomed. We had reserved space for about 15 women. The accommodations was perfect for that size. The atmosphere and decor is so laid back and posh at the same time. I am not known to eating Jamaican food, so I did stick to a familiar choice on the menu. However, I don't eat meat either so my options were few. But the food I had was tasty and reasonably priced. The others in the group all loved their entrée and desserts. I heard there is also an upstairs eating area with a DJ, however, I didn't make it up there. But I have future plans to visit this place again!!

Talk about Caribbean cuisine with a flair! This is what taking Caribbean food to the next level is all about. I ordered the whole snapper, a vegetarian roti, the coconut carrot ginger soup, cod fish fritters, and sides of rice and peas and macaroni and cheese. The snapper was wonderfully prepared! The broth was delicious, and while okra hasn't always been my favorite vegetable, this dish made me fall in love with it all over again. If I went back, I would definitely order the roti and the snapper again. The soup was really good too, though of thicker consistency if that matters to you. The Cod fish fritters weren't the best I've ever had and so I wouldn't order them again. If ordering out, I would suggest getting a double order of rice. I ended up having too much mac and not enough rice. The décor was top notch. Definitely somewhere I can see myself going for an anniversary, important dinner or even a girl's evening at the bar with appetizers. While I am all for a hole in the wall, sometimes you want something with a little elevated atmosphere. Good job to the owners on this one! Feel free to open one in DC! We need this up here!

Finally got around to visiting this spot. The decor is beautiful. You'd never think it was a Jamaican restaurant because there are no flags. Not even reggae music. At least not on this particular Sunday. Not a problem at all. Beautiful restaurant. The staff I came in contact with were friendly. Even the valet guy was cool. Now to the food. So good! I had the Oxtail Hash which had great flavor. My sweetie had the jerk chicken & waffles and raved about it. We didn't get to try any cocktails but will definitely partake next time. Definitely going back.

Let me preface this review by saying my rating is based on my overall experience. 5 people made up our party to celebrate my sister's birthday. One of her friends had made the reservation and told us about this restaurant. As we all are from Jamaica we were excited to share in this experience as there aren't many places in Atlanta that has an authentic Jamaican cuisine menu. Upon our arrival we were not greeted. wait staff rushed by us intermittently saying nothing as a group of 5 people stood by the door looking around wondering what to do next. we were finally seated all the way in the back by the kitchen although there were several open tables throughout. We sat and waited for our server to arrive and when he did he provided waters and left without engaging with any of us to ask if it was our first time what was great on the menu etc. we waited several more minutes before he came back to take our drink order. I actually got up to ask the bartender about some drinks we saw going out to other patrons. it felt like we waited forever for our drinks to come back and when they did come my drink was missing. Apparently the waiter forgot to put it in. I had to ask staff passing by to put my drink in. Turned out that staff was the manager on duty. he had to assist our waiter with our drink/food order. when the food finally came 3 people had to redo their order bc the waiter made a mistake. So we had to wait some more. 3 people ordered the oxtail pasta, 1 curry goat and myself the jerk chicken. The food was actually great. I was not expecting that. The jerk chicken was a nice portion so much so I took the remainder home. everyone else was able to finish their meals, some said the oxtail portion was fairly small and only got 1 piece of meat but they did say the food was good. The drinks were definitely on point. I had a watermelon martini, others had the rum punch and a strawberry piña colada. Don't know who the bartender was but he did a great job. kudos to the chef and bartender. Also want to thank the manager who tried to make up for the waiter. we all felt pretty bad for the waiter bc he appeared to have been having a bad night. he did a poor job when we visited which is what affected our dining experience. I think we all have said we would return and just hope we don't get the same waiter. We'd like to return to check out the 2nd level where a dance floor is as well as a dj. we could hear the music below and hoped that instead of chatter heard from other tables, we wanted to hear music. for now I rate a 2 but food/drinks def a 4. will update my rating if I return.

I really wanted to give this place 5 stars. However, I chose 3 and it really should be 3.5. I'll start first with the food. The food here is delicious, and it's probably superb if you can actually get it while it's still hot. The food was served warm, at best. The appetizers were pretty tasty. I ordered the collard green spring rolls. For an entree, I ordered the jerk chicken. The meal came with plantains, peas and rice, and cabbage. There was definitely more than enough food. I also had a Dark & Stormy adult beverage, which was pretty tasty. They make their own ginger beer! After two of these cocktails, I wasn't as uptight about the mediocre service. Service was slow as molasses. I suppose they work on "island time," meaning they take the easy and no rush approach. When we arrived we waited about 10 minutes to be seated. Now, that's not a long time. But, we had a reservation and there were only about 10 people dining at the time. There really was no reason we should've had to wait. On the other hand, our waitress was pretty good once she finally arrived at our table. The additional wait staff was really nice and attentive. The actual venue, itself is very tastefully decorated. It's very modern and has a lounge feel to it. Because the weather was so nice, we actually dined on the patio, which was nice. The inside space is pretty spacious. It was once an old firehouse. There's an upstairs area with a full bar. Bathrooms are also upstairs and were very clean. But, it is a bit of a climb to get there. I'm not sure how they could serve people with disabilities. Overall, I would definitely give them another try. But, I wouldn't go there starving! If they are slow when they aren't crowded, I can only imagine how slow they are when they are busy! You've been warned! LOL

I had the Jerk Chicken and waffles. It was amazing! The waffles are pineapple infused and so perfect that there is no need for syrup; however, syrup and cream cheese are both provided. The waffles taste great with both! Their drinks are great!! They have bottomless mimosas during brunch on Saturday and Sunday. Negril Village does not get a 5 for me due to their service and the host. The host is rude, I've been on three different occasions and on every occasion he was extremely rude. I think his mom may be the owner but that doesn't mean it's okay to be disrespectful to your guests. Also, every time I've been so far the rules and prices have changed. It's a bit frustrating! But the food is so good that all of the bad ca be easily over looked!

I'm from the Washington DC metro area vacationing here in ATL. I've been looking for oxtails since arriving here Thursday. From the looks of the interior of restaurant here on Yelp and how well the food was plated, I had to try. My mom and sister joined me. We were beyond satisfied. While there, the chef greeted guests table to table. We spoke to him briefly. We had the pleasure of meeting the owner and creator of all the fine flavors, Marva. It was the most pleasurable experience. Also amongst the crowd was one of my all time favorite Djs, DJ D Nice. When you arrive please ask for Marva. Tell her Lashema (DJ Civil) sent you.

I was hanging out around GA Tech looking for food and I met a Chef named Eric. I asked him if he knew a good place and he told me he cooks at Negril Village, and I'd love it. He told me to bring friends because the vibe is excellent. He sold me, so I came in with my friends and we were in love. Our server was great. Attentive and fast. I had a rum punch and my friend had a Pina colada. Very tasty. But the food was truly the highlight. I ordered jerk wings as an appetizer and Jerk Salmon as my entree. My salmon was a perfect medium well, the sweet potatoes were delicious. I can tell the jerk is authentic and I loved every bit of it. My friend ordered Oxtail pasta which she loved. We shared a strawberry shortcake and I had to be rolled out of the restaurant. Thank you Chef Eric for the suggestion, I'll be back very soon.

It was a beautiful night so my husband and I decided to dine outside here. It was about 9:30pm and there were only a few other groups dining. We were seated after a couple minutes, but it took about 7 minutes for a waitress to come get our drink orders and other 10 for us to receive our drink orders. We also requested water, but that didn't come till the end of our meal. Chicken roti was good. Fish tacos were just okay. Sangria was lacking flavor, but the house ginger beer was fantastic! I noticed after we paid, that we had an extra $6 drink charge on our bill for a drink that we never ordered. My fault for not checking ahead of time, but we were in somewhat of a rush and didn't feel like going back to get it amended.

The food was delicious and the Jamaican Moscow Mule was AMAZING! Came here for brunch on Mother's Day. They conveniently did not offer the bottomless mimosas but instead charged $25 for a bottle of champagne and carafe of OJ. I had the Curried Chicken Roti and side of Mac & Cheese. Both items were delicious. My husband had the jerk chicken with rice and peas; amazing! Our daughter had the Blue Mountain Steak and Eggs ... she devoured her meal! lol Her words verbatim 'OMG, this food goes in'! lmbo Hey, she's 11!! We'll definitely return ... the only con is parking. The lot is super small and tight. All in all we really enjoyed our meals and the atmosphere.

I came by for a Saturday morning brunch. I thoroughly enjoyed the Jerk Chicken and Waffles. The service was excellent and the ambiance was great. The Unlimited Tropical Mimosas just topped it all off. I will definitely be back!

This experience was a really good one...this is a nice, grown and sexy spot...I only saw one child and the music was really good...the service was amazing. My friend dropped her glass and before we could bat our eyes, there were two gentleman at our table cleaning the glass up and asking us to please not touch anything so that we would not injure ourselves. Mimosas kept flowing and the food!!!!! The food! Jerk chicken and waffles, country breakfast...great! Atmosphere...we are returning very soon. One of the BEST SPOTS we have been to for brunch and we brunch every Saturday ...#yaaaas

They were polite about it (hence 2 stars instead of one) but far less than accommodating. After deciding to grab brunch there because they are one of a few spots with bottomless mimosas, we entered the restaurant but had to wait a bit because there was no host. When he arrived we were relatively enthusiastic because the place wasn't packed. However, we were told we could not be seated. Another gentleman, likely his supervisor joined him and told us that they were only seating ppl who made reservations, which we attempted to do FOUR times but no one answered the phone. His explanation was they were too busy to answer the phone, only issue with that explanation was, the restaurant was not full and there was no wait. Finally a woman emerges from the kitchen and tells us it's because they are short staffed, everyone has called out, she's going to have a heart attack at any moment and they're just not going to take anyone else. Sad scenario indeed. That was at least a $75 tab sent home with an empty stomach, never to return. If you can't get your employees to show up for work and you don't have or can't find the energy to accommodate your guests, I'm just not sure about the quality of the food.

Amazing food. I had the oxtails and chicken empanadas and I can't begin to describe the deliciousness. The food is savory, perfectly seasoned and well presented. The atmosphere and decor is beautiful. You really don't feel like you're in Atlanta which fit well with the staycation I was giving myself. The service was great and the clientele also added to my experience. Xavier the chef came by and talked to us and you can tell he puts his heart into his work. He mentioned that the recipes are the owners and you can tell the food is authentic.

(Please note this review is solely based on a group event that I attended.) I was looking forward to trying a new place and was here last night for an event with the AISC group. Unfortunately, it was not as great as we all expected it to be. Their building is located directly across the street on North Avenue from the Bank of America building. They have paid parking directly next door for $5.00 and an adorable outdoor patio set up in front of the restaurant. The restaurant itself is well decorated and it is a great spot for date nights, small group gatherings or happy hour. I was just very disappointed to see that the lack of quantity of food and options for our group event last night. Definitely a major fail. We were all left craving for more and disappointed. The only positive was that our bartender, Priscilla P. was fantastic. She was super friendly and made amazing "rum punches" for us that night. In terms of group events, I would NOT select this venue. The presentation wasn't worth much and they did not provide enough food for our group of 25 to leave a positive, lasting impression. I'm hesitant to even come back to visit for dinner with friends but we'll see. It's a beautiful restaurant and they did a great job with the modern decor but my first impression was just "meh."

I am still in mourning from finding out that my favorite Jamaican restaurant closed a few months ago, so I decided to try this place out. I had heard of a few recommendations for it and wanted to take a chance. I didn't read the Yelp reviews first to see that this place considers itself an upper-crust Jamaican restaurant, that likely would have swayed my decision. I pulled up to find that this is the old location of the Firehouse restaurant on North that is right by Peachtree. Ugh... Paid parking. I try to avoid that. But, I was invested by then. I walk up, noticing the mainly empty lot, pay for my estimated parking time. I can see where this would be an issue if it was busier, who can estimate how long they will be waiting in most cases? Ding in the points. I walk in. The waitress is speaking with a lady who came in before me in hushed tones. I wasn't sure what they were speaking of, but the lady walked out and went across the street after just paying for parking. I was confused, but not my circus. I waited to be seated, the place was mainly empty. Now, the waitress lets me in on it. Their credit card machine is down. I looked at her in one of those manners that I have been known for to let her know that 'this is not ok'. I asked her if she was aware that people have to pre-pay to park here and that it is completely unacceptable that no one was in the parking lot a few steps away to warn customers of this. She looked at my pregnant belly and knew better than to suggest I go to the Bank of America (not my bank) ATM across North Avenue. I wasn't wobbling myself across that street in THIS traffic at any rate. She encouraged me to go ahead and have a seat as maybe the CC machine would be back by the time I was done as 'they' were working on it. I look over the menu. I made sure to let her know that I do not do spicy. After being reassured that the oxtails were not spicy AT ALL, I ordered that. I didn't know what to think about lima bean gravy, but... Hey, lets try new things, right? I get my order, the meat was very spicy. The steamed veggies were blah. She ended up having to bring me milk to help to offset the spice in the end. She told me to give my phone number, they would call me to pay by phone. I asked if they had considered just taking payment by paypal where customers could pay before leaving. She explains that the issue is in the surcharge for paypal. I am thinking... that is better than the surcharge of 100% if you take people phone number and they never answer your call, but, again... not my circus or my monkeys. I leave my phone number and email address. She tries my card just before I am leaving, it works. I was relieved. I was kinda leery about giving someone my cc info over the phone, not knowing if they were writing it down or what. Will I be back? Doubt it.

tl;dr: Our reservation was for 2pm, we got seated after 3pm, I did not get my mediocre food until 4:45pm This visit was a clusterf*ck, where to begin... It was my friend's birthday and we had a party of 10 originally that my friend had called the week before to change to 15 people. The reservation was at 2, however, a lot of us were late. I got there at 2:30pm and about 5 of our party were waiting near the bar because we were told that they could not seat us until 10 of us got there. Fair enough. However, when the 10th person arrived at around 2:45, we were told that our table was not ready. We had requested seating upstairs where we could have the brunch buffet and they tried to split our party into two tables that they could not join together. It seems that since they do not really hold reservations, they gave our table away. I understand this practice at restaurants, however, do not tell us to wait and that "our table is almost ready" if you do not have accommodations for us. We were eventually seated downstairs sometime after 3pm after my friend had a word with the manager. The restaurant was packed so it took a while to get our food and drink orders in. I ordered the oxtail hash which comes with sweet potatoes which I cannot eat, I asked the server if I could have them with regular potatoes and he said it was fine. After about 30 minutes, the food started coming out; everyone else seemed pretty happy with their choices but mine came out with sweet potatoes. After finally finding our server, he said that the kitchen "ran out' of regular potatoes and just made it sweet potatoes. I then asked if I could get it without potatoes instead, he said ok, and left. Everyone else's food has come by this point. About 20 mins later, the server came back and said that the hash is made with potatoes and cannot take the potatoes out; I decided to order jerk chicken instead. Another 20 mins goes by, everyone else at the table has finished eating, my food has not arrived. I manage to find our server to ask him about when my food would arrive, he says that he did not know, so I ask him to just cancel the order since the party will be leaving soon. He says ok, the food comes out 5 mins later. I am starving by this point so I eat some of it and take the rest of it to go as my party is ready to leave. I get my check where I was charged for the jerk chicken, a mimosa (which I had), and 18% gratuity automatically added. I understand that a lot of places auto-grat for large parties but it is unfair to do so when the service is so poor. I put down the cash for my meal and asked for the manager. The manager was cordial and offered to pay for my meal, when I told him that the server had already taken the cash, he said that it was "too late" to give me a refund but he could give me extra food or some drinks, neither of which I wanted since my party was ready to go. He did not offer a gift certificate, I would not have taken it anyway, but he should offer. All in all, jerk chicken here is $18, roti is $14, these items normally cost $8-10 in smaller restaurants; if a place is going to charge that much money for Caribbean food, the food should be delicious and the service should be impeccable; I was very disappointed. I will never go back here.

Food was ok. But for these prices I was expecting 5 star gourmet Jamaican food. Save yourself the trouble and roll down to stone mountain and get you some Island Cafe or Golden Crust. I do like the location and the drinks are good but food is definitely overpriced here. Location is A++

So my mother is Canadian and knows the Jamaican cuisine quite well, I grew up with it regularly in our house because of living in Montreal & Ottawa. Negril Village, which has its original location not far from my flat in Manhattan, is a welcomed addition to the Atlanta food scene. The decor is immaculate inside. The sights & smells are aromatic. So we rolled in at an awkward time - around 3:30-4pm and it was obviously empty as they were getting ready for the dinner/happy hour crowd. Started with the Jerk Shrimp, delightful. As I already knew what my mother was going to order - - it was no surprise she snagged the Oxtail, she was happy with it. My dish was solid as well, massive portion. Curried goat roti. Yum. I would definitely go back here, have been meaning to go since I randomly walked past it two weeks after they opened. Nicely Done Negril Village, as I don't plan on flying to Jamaica anytime soon - you'll probably see me in the near future. Feel the rhythm.

Best Caribbean food experience!! Everything from the food to the service was exceptional! Owner came by every table and greeted guests, very sweet lady. I know the first place I'm coming to eat next time I visit Alanta!

Would totally consider this place a midtown jewel! Great bar/restaurant atmosphere. The crowd was very much so sophisticated and lively. The drinks are strong and very tasty. I had the hibiscus margarita and the best piña colada ever. Both decently price. We enjoyed the cod fritters for the appetizer. Which was a tad greasy but still delicious. And the shrimp and grits as a main entree was splendid. All in all the experience truly gave a very authentic Caribbean feel. Thanks to Sopeak our waiter!

I came with my friend to a dinner party of about 12 girls. We walked in 15 mins after everyone else and ordered drinks. After that, it just went downhill, as the kitchen was understaffed and we ended up waiting almost an hour if not more for our food. The food, however was DELICIOUS, and is the only reason I would consider coming back, maybe during another time of the day. I had the Brick Grilled chicken and the seasonings were amazing. The meat fell of the bone and the rice and peas (although a tad dry) gave the perfect balance. I was able to try the cabbage and that also was pretty good. It had some kind of seasoned gravy so next time I'll have to order a side of it on my own.

First things first, I forgot to redeem my 10% off yelp offer with checkin! Don't forget to do that! Park right outside in the lot next door for $5, which is pretty cheap for paid lots downtown on a Saturday night. If the lot fills up, which it will, park across the street in the deck. When you first walk in, you are greeted by a stark white interior, clean and slightly dated. Some of our party was sitting at the bar waiting for us to arrive to be seated, since a majority of our group needed to be present to be seated. However, instead of being seated in this sterile looking area, we were led up a dark staircase to where we would really be seated. It was almost like an entirely different restaurant. It was dark upstairs, and a heavy beat was emerging from inside. They seated us at a series of small tables which each seated two people, three if you squeezed. The twelve of us squeezed into the booths that lined the entire wall. The music was waaaay too loud, but the DJ played some old school stuff with a nice beat that was a good time. We ordered drinks - I ordered the Hibiscus Margarita, which was sweet, tasty, and most importantly, strong - then proceed to yell at each other to be heard. Food was moderately priced, which was a pleasant surprise in a midtown, non fast food restaurant. There were some "normal" classic dishes, but most of the entrees and sides had a Caribbean flavor to them. I ordered Oxtails with an a la carte side of Mac & Cheese. I did not get rice and peas, as the online menu shows, and I don't believe the menu in the restaurant even listed those out as sides. The Oxtails were tender and heavily seasoned. Just wish there were more than just bones and stew. My Mac & Cheese took its dear sweet time making its way to me, so I didn't meet it until I had long since finished my Oxtails entree. I reminded the server a few times before she brought it out. The Mac & Cheese was good, but nothing different or mind blowing for the price that it was. I wish I hadn't ordered the extra carbs, fat and calories in a ramekin of greasy Mac & Cheese. My neighbor had a hard time ordering food. She walked in around 9:30, and tried ordering food before the kitchen closed around 10, but all the food she tried ordering was "out". How can you be out of staple items like salmon?! After she ordered the salmon, half an hour later they told her they were out of salmon, and when she tried ordering other things, they only shut her down, saying they were out of this and that. In the end they gave her free empanadas. From salmon to empanadas... at least it was free. Overall, I had a good time. It's a more upscale restaurant for a less upscale price. For such a large group on a Saturday night, I suggest starting dinner before the 8 PM rush and the loud pulsing music starts playing. This only makes for slower and inaccurate service.

Went for brunch this past Sunday hoping to sample the highly popular jerk chicken and waffles. Was told I couldn't get it since it wasn't on the menu, BOO. I ordered a stack of pancakes (blah) and the jerk wings appetizer instead. I got 6-half wing pieces that were huge, filling and oh my DAYUM they were good! Seriously, all of my disappointment quickly dissipated after savoring those wings, perfectly marinated and mouth watering. They are WORTH their hype. Service could've been a lil better considering there were only a handful of us in there at the time but I'll def be back very soon for those wings again!

I came to Negril looking to satisfy my Caribbean cravings. I had the curry goat w/rice and peas, my sister had the oxtail and my aunt had the snapper. And of course we ordered a side of plantains to complete our Caribbean feast. I was satisfied with my curry goat, nice flavor and tenderness. My sister said her oxtails were a little tough but the flavor was very good. My aunt enjoyed the snapper, the chef recommended it and she enjoyed it. They do serve the entire fish so if you're freaked out by fish heads I would probably not order this dish. The plantains were cooked perfectly! I'm a bit of a plantain snob so I'm hard to please but these were so delicious. The atmosphere in this place is very nice. I believe this location was a fire station at some point. The downstairs has very high ceilings and wood accents, makes u feel kind of classy but it's very relaxed. The only thing I didn't like is that u have to walk a mile it feels like to get to the bathroom...which is upstairs. They upstairs portion of this establishment is very nice, there's another bar, couches and tvs. It's not super spacious but enough room to move comfortably. I would definitely come back here to dine and order those plantains!

After reading the reviews about slow service, I was hesitant. In fact when we pulled in, this other couple was leaving and asked if we could give them $10 and take their parking space. I asked them why they were leaving so quickly and they said they'd changed their minds. Anyway, we went in and though it wasn't very busy, the hostess seemed flustered and asked us to wait a minute. Even though we had a reservation we ended up waiting 15 minutes. I was about to leave when they showed us a table. After that the service was fast, especially when I explained to them we were trying to catch a show. And the food was delicious. The jerk chicken was amazing, and the bread pudding was to die for. My friend had the curry goat which was also very good. They've also done a very nice job of redecorating the firehouse and the wait staff was friendly. If they could get the service right and their own parking lot (or at least validate parking, even offer a reduce rate) then they would get 5 stars.

Amazing food. My boyfriend and I were exploring Atlanta and we stumbled upon this small piece of home. I'm Caribbean and very hard to please when it comes to Caribbean food but Negril Village blew me out of the water. We were there for brunch and I had the mixed plate with ackee and salt fish banana etc. service was great, but my only complaint was portion size. It's a thing with all Caribbean restaurants to skimp on portion sizes.

The beautiful upscale venue and lively ambience create a New York vibe which I really liked. The dishes are truly tasty - especially the shrimp & grits and the jerk. Negril Village gets five stars mostly because it is a professionally-run establishment where attention to details make for a very pleasant experience.
