Decided to stop in on a Tuesday evening for dinner to give this place a try. The building looks great and is super clean on the inside and outside. They have patio seating which seemed to be pretty popular. While the outside had some people, the (relatively large) inside was almost empty. Strangely, I didn't smell the 'BBQ smell' when we walked up; I should have taken this as a sign. Upon entering, we were greeted by two hosts. We asked if we could have a booth - their response "Do you mind a table?". "Well, no, I guess not." my wife and I answered. Strangely, they put us at a table in the middle of the (empty) dining room... with two out of three booths open on the wall. Weird that they didn't cater to our request (when there are obviously booths open), but we shrugged this off. Certainly this was not what influenced our one-star rating, but it was strange. What brought this place to deserve 1 star was straight up the food. I am not a 'foodie' or anything, but I do enjoy good bbq. I have had BBQ all over the southeast US (including Memphis). This was just BAD bbq. I had a memphis style jumbo pork sandwich with fries - my wife had a MBCBLT with Mac and Cheese. NEVER have I had one bite of a sandwich and stopped eating - until this meal. The BBQ pork had ZERO BBQ smoke flavor, but rather like it had been (over)cooked in a crock pot. The meat had an almost rancid flavor like it had been rewarmed over and over. So much so, that I set my half of sandwich down (my wife and I had cut each of our sandwiches in half so we could share) after a single bite. The BLT was edible, but not great. A sweet (?) mess of slaw, sauce, bacon, and I think some tomato in there on over buttered (or oiled) bread. Strangely, no one (no server, no manager, no host on the way out) asked how my meal was. Maybe there is a reason for that? Not everything was horrible. The free pork rinds were awesome - I could have eaten a whole bag of them. Also the Mac & Cheese was okay. The fries, were, well french fries. Nothing special, but at least they gave me enough of them to eat that I could avoid the rest of my sandwich. Overall, I will not be going back here. I am not a picky eater-not by a long shot. I just found out (while writing this review) that this is a chain restaurant - supposedly 'award winning'. Between the horrible food and awkward seating situation, the only award that I could see this place receiving would be "Worst BBQ".

This place is AWESOME!!!! What a welcoming environment, we decided to have our friend's 40th birthday party here. The staff is gracious and so much fun! Our server was Candice, who was so helpful and warm. Their BBQ is top-notch! I also would recommend the cheese fritters appetizers. Great atmosphere! Great place to eat! We will definitely be back!

Started off on the wrong foot when half the draft beer selection was warm. Also, no liquor license yet so no cocktails to be had. Had the cheese fritters as an appetizer, relatively bland, except for the garlic, luke-warm, poorly presented. Moved on to dinner and had the combo plate with pulled pork and brisket, I have always believed that good BBQ doesn't need sauce, well this needed sauce. The pork was not dry, which was a good start, but it did not have much flavor without the sauce. The brisket was dry and flavorless. I find it hard to believe that a champion BBQ master would approve of this type of food. We should have known that this wasn't going to be overly authentic when we arrived and there was no evidence of smoke coming from the roof of the restaurant, where is the meat prepared? They need help fast!

Met friends for dinner here and the parking lot was pretty full. I wondered if we would be able to get a table. But I forgot how big the place is. We have eaten here through every version of this place over the years so of course we had to check out the new place. Smelled smoke (in a good way) upon entering. I always try the bbq first at a new bbq place and it is odd to me that there are so many other choices on the menu...pasta, burgers, sandwiches, salads, etc. but for this location, it almost seems necessary to broaden the choices. I guess we were here on a good night because the puled pork was delicious, both on its own and with sauce. Moist but not mushy and very flavorful. Slaw was tasty and not overly dressed and potato salad was perfect - not overly salted or mushy which tends to happen at other places. I wanted to try the ribs but I had too much food on my plate so I will try them the next time. Service was very good. We did not lack for anything and will definitely be back to try other items on the menu.

My coworkers and I visited this restaurant for lunch the other day. It was pretty decent. I had the brisket sandwich with fries. I also ordered some baked beans to go with it. The sandwich comes with coleslaw on it, but I had that placed on the side. My coworker wasn't a huge fan of her brisket sandwich as she felt hers was too fatty, so she sent it back and decided to get the pulled chicken sandwich instead. She liked that much better. My baked beans were good. My sandwich was pretty good with the spicy BBQ sauce from the table. The fries were just plain (although I wish they would add BBQ seasoning or something to it for some flare). I heard the mac & cheese wasn't that good, but I didn't try it. I will give this place another shot and try something else. One thing to note, it can be pricey as there is no actual lunch menu.

I'd like to give them 3.5... here are the details: The service is great. Nicest waitresses ever. So sweet and really looked after me. I had a 3-meat combo. Ribs, pulled chicken and brisket. Sides were fried okra and onion rings (yeah, could have picked better). The brisket needs more smoke. It's also too lean. Brisket needs fat. It's not un-tasty, but does not explode with flavor. I'll say the same thing about the pulled chicken. I like smokey chicken and this wasn't there. I wasn't super moist, but not dry either. The ribs were the baby backs, dry rub only. They were great. Not fall-off-the-bone (thank goodness!) because that's not the way ribs should be. They pulled away easily, but with a bit of hold to them. They had a good smoke ring and a nice smoke flavor. The dry rub was perhaps a bit too prominent, but you could always brush some off. Sauces could be more varied. The two sauces are very similar and the spicy one isn't much spicier than the regular. I like to see 3-4 sauces and ideally one that is mustard / vinegar (yeah, nor really Memphis), especially for pulled pork. Decent beer selection on tap and in bottles. Next time, I'll stick to ribs and maybe try the pulled pork so that I've tested all of the primary BBQ items.

My second experience with Georgia BBQ was much much better than the first. Dry rub baby back ribs were excellent as were the beans and slaw. If you do not prefer Memphis style BBQ you may not like it. I will have to go back again and try the pork and brisket but my first try was awesome.

A very welcome addition to Dunwoody. BBQ is good, and very family friendly. They are in the process of getting their bar and draft beer system set up and look like they will have 20+ taps once it is set up. Great TV's in the bar area for watching sports.

Ate here this week with my two daughters. Every dish we had was great! Grilled chicken, hamburger, pulled pork spagetti, cheese fritters and even the Texas toast. Our server, Veronica, was very good and very attentive. We will definitely be back!

It was just okay food. The cornbread was dry. The meat was also dry. It's not really my favorite bbq place. The service was good and the people are nice. I just hope the food improves.

Went in as a last min idea. Nice inside, not a typical "BBQ joint" looking place! Went w. 2 other friends. Was sat immediately. Our server, Leroy was the bomb.com !! Very friendly. Managed not only us but what appeared to be a 5 table section. The food was good actually. I'm a big fan of Fat Matt's in midtown which I think was voted as Atl's best BBQ place and this place was pretty close. Pretty cool looking bar with 2 attractive gals tending to it. Overall staff was friendly. Bottom line is... Good food+great service= happy gracious guests that will not only return but w more people!! Good job Memphis BBQ!! And ps...those Tee shirts that your staff wears and u seek are hilarious!!!!!

Don't go here. Repeat... do not eat at this place. Food is horrible. Poor excuse for a bbq place. U couldn't pay me to eat here again. On a positive note....woops there is none. Haha. The waiter from Harlem was nice

This place was very expensive. After tip, 11.00 for a smallish beef sandwich and fries. NO drink, because I will not pay $2.50 for tea that they make for pennies. The person I was with complained to the manager and he seemed to not be able to care any less. The server (2nd time I had him) was inattentive and got things on the order wrong. I won't have him a 3rd time because I don't think I will visit again. Note to corporate, your Manager blamed the overpricing on YOU.

Went here for lunch a couple of weeks ago and it was a little disappointing. I guess we expected more from a BBQ place. The corn on the cob was either very old or had been frostbitten. It was very mushy. The mac and cheese was just macaroni in a cheese soupy sauce. The buns are a little dried out and the sauce was just alright. We had to go looking for our waitress for the check. The pulled pork was very good and the green salad was fresh.

Attended an event last night they catered. The ribs and peach cobbler good but the BBQ wings were off the chart delicious. Everyone asking where they could get more. The perfect combo of sweet, spicy and crispy. I can't wait to visit the restaurant My only negative was the mac"cheese. Visually not appealing as it seemed to lack enough...cheese!

We had Linner here today. For those who don't use this word, this was a late lunch and early dinner. To make it even more simple, late in the day meal. I will say we will not eat here again. I had the dry rub spare ribs, pulled pork, and beef brisket. I have had plenty southern BBQ both good and bad. If this place represents Memphis BBQ I will not eat BBQ when I get to Memphis. The brisket was dry. The meat was a bit tastless. Dare I say my oven baked ribs have more flavor and moisture. The sides were no better. I had fried okra and potato salad. The salad needed a little more mayo and salt. The okra was fried way to hard and the batter needed seasoning. The waitress was very nice and attentive. The restaurant was clean and inviting. I'm a Southern Gul. I like my food to have seasonings, not over or under.

Memphis Barbecue Company apparently came to Dunwoody with all kinds of BBQ competition awards to their name. Their website boasts about how they have taken the BBQ world by storm, but clearly they are not serving the same award winning barbecue in Atlanta that they are serving in Horn Lake, MS. The pulled pork that I had for lunch was the most dry, flavorless barbecue that I've had in Atlanta. I had to add so much barbecue sauce to try and give it flavor but it still didn't help. Good barbecue doesn't need a bunch of sauce. The service at the bar was fine and the craft beer list was better than a lot of barbecue places. I also liked that they had big TV's at the bar for watching sports and a nice patio. Hopefully their Pitmaster will make a trip to Atlanta and get the food quality issues fixed, but I doubt that I'll return.

Wow...what can I say...very, very good dry ribs! I love me some dry ribs...not those wet, messy things...give me dry with a touch of BBQ sauce on the side...and the Memphis Barbecue Company comes through with this! Wifey had the BBQ Meatloaf...and it was outstanding as well! Made for some great leftovers the next day. Good meatloaf with a BBQ flavor as opposed to a ketchup flavor...wow! Then...BBQ Spaghetti...what an idea...use BBQ sauce on spaghetti...fantastic! Finally...free pork rinds to start the meal...and they are FRESH pork rinds...not out of some bag! Service was good as well...

Had the baby back ribs full slab dry rub. Delicious. Only one wait staff at the time and they had a steady flow, but the manager was helping and we didn't wait long at all for food. Good atmosphere and smelled great as we walked in. BBQ spaghetti was surprisingly good with a spicy kick.

Great Que! A hidden little gem in Dunwoody if you like barbecue. I got the house salad w pulled chicken and a cup of Red Beans and Rice. Red Beans and Rice are legit. Also got dinner to go- pulled pork and greens. They have a spicy que and a regular. Every table also gets homemade pork rinds.

came here for date night. Very nice restaurant centrally located. Great patio outside. Weirdly dead on a Friday night with kids in the area out of school. The chicken was good the sides were nothing special. Very big menu. Fox"s brother, Greenbriar and Smoke Belly is better. We had really good service. Prices are average. So much competition in the area...

This place missed on some many levels its amazing, service, food, staff all of it was a huge swing and a miss. Not sure how long this place has been here but will be happy to see what comes next. I have to assume the 5 trophys hanging above the host stand are made in the back by my sever cause he clearly is busy doing something besides bringing silverware or a check and I cant imagine they were won be the flavorless lack luster meal we just finished. The stand out was the wings cause how can u mess up taking yesterdays chicken and throwing it in a fryer and tossing bottled hotsauce on it . My fiance was able to finish a fair amount of the sysco fried okra and I was able to choke down two bites of the boxed mac and cheese. The corn on the cob well its just like homemade if by homemade u boil a pot of water and serve the corn without iffering butter or any flavor however I guess that fits the theme of this restaurant. I would rather eat at shanes rib shake then go back.

I came in to Memphis BBQ the weekend before Christmas to hide from the crowds and get a much deserved adult beverage and I was surprised how good the 'cue is! I got the baked potato stuffed with pulled pork. To my surprise this massive tater also included sour cream, shredded cheese, bacon and chives. For under $10 I was surprised how big the portion was. I had enough to take home and eat later. If you're offered the free pork rinds-take em! I typically don't like pork rinds but they're perfectly crisp and have an awesome spice on them. They even sell them by the bag at the front door if you need some for the ride home...if they make it that far!

[TL;DR] It's a barbecue. It's done pretty well. Expect to have seasoning salt on everything. You know what really stood out? The chicharrón (pork rinds)! That's their bread basket, kind of. It's good. Went with baby back ribs and smoked turkey sandwich. The ribs weren't bad nor were they the best. The smoked turkey sandwich was decent but a bit salty. Service was friendly. Don't see myself going back though. Not that there's anything wrong with it or that you shouldn't try it yourself... I'm just a fan of other places for the few times I do eat barbecue.

Our visit was awful... When we complained to the Manager he stated to stick to the BBQ items. (Shrimp and grits) Dirty gritty shrimps and grit was cold and horrible, onion rings and chicken strips was so hard and crispy, which they did replace the dish. Saw the owner debuting her restaurant on TV, so we drove 30 miles to try it out. Later called the corporate office, never received a call back!

  • Adina S.

Really, most everything was underwhelming and pretty tasteless. The BBQ chicken and pork had little flavor. Even adding the BBQ sauce to the meat didn't help. The coleslaw was not cold enough and lacked any sort of body. The cornbread was the best thing we ate. I live a mile from this restaurant, but I don't plan on returning. We live in the South; we have better BBQ options.

Since leaving my home Memphis, TN almost 3 years ago, I've had a gard time finding really good BBQ. Well I'm happy to say I've found the perfect spot here in Atlanta. Why is it so good? Because the owner is a Memphis native!!!! Won many BBQ championships. Memphis BBQ is sweet...the BEST!!!!

I wanted to love this place but it didnt do it for me. I had the grilled chicken sandwich with a side of hush puppies. My sandwich came out it was soggy, the chicken was dry and rubbery. The only thing i loved were the hush puppies. They were a bit pricey. 4-5 for $3.00 but it saved my lunch hour. I did taste the shrimp my co-worker had and it was well cooked and seasoned. I woukd like to try them again and see if the kitchen just had an off day...

Visited this afternoon...it was not busy at all, several empty tables. We were seated immediately. Our server finally comes over but doesn't introduce himself just asks what we want to drink. Server never asked if we wanted an appetizer. After bringing the drinks he didn't come back for another 15 minutes to take our order. We tried the cheese fritters, they were like warm and not flavorful. I expected them to be more savory. The ribs lacked smoke flavor and had a bunch of salt poured on top. The fries were greasy, cornbread was hard with no flavor. My husband ordered a burger that he also said had no flavor. We passed this place several times, stopped in once and they were out of ribs so we left. We decided to try them again after seeing them featured on 3 D's on Food network. The best part was the pork rinds. It just isn't my taste for bbq...I like Jim N' Nicks much better.

Overall, Memphis Barbecue Co is a nice addition to a neighborhood in need of some BBQ joints. Service was excellent our first visit (Keasha was our server) and OK our second. Atmosphere feels like a chain (it doesn't quite have the charm of so many BBQ joints) but that's not much of a factor for me. It's on the plus side of 3 stars. As for the food, I'd say it was pretty mixed. The sausage is outstanding - has a bit of a different flavor than most smoked sausage, and it's incredibly juicy and delicious. I've had the sausage 3 times now, and it is definitely "cravable." The Baked Beans are a big win, as well - unlike most baked beans, they were not super sweet sweet and had a predominant pepper flavor (Poblano, I think) that I really enjoyed. Other standouts were the complementary pork rinds (offered on our first visit, but no the second) and the corn bread. The brisket and the wet baby-back ribs were pretty good but nothing special. The dry ribs are definitely the way to go - more flavor than the wet. The pulled pork is good (if you're deciding pork or brisket, go pork). All the meat I've tried were cooked nearly perfectly as far as doneness/tenderness - the ribs were not falling apart, but came off the bone easily, and the brisket was tender and juicy. Unfortunately, both had much more mild flavors than I prefer in my bbq. The menu says they smoke with Pecan wood, which is likely part of the issue - in my opinion pecan wood is simply too mild and works better as an accent than the sole smoke source. The smoke ring looked great, but the flavor just wasn't there. Ultimately, they clearly know how to cook the meats, they just need a better smoke choice, and could do a better job with rubs. The cole slaw is avoidable, which always baffles me. I've probably said this in a dozen reviews over the years, but making a good slaw is soooo easy, yet so many places fail miserably. I really don't get it. I didn't try the Mac & Cheese, but my lunch companion described it as "meh - not very good." It looked like Kraft, and he said it definitely wasn't homemade. Mixed vegetables are done well, and red beans and rice is pretty average. The sauces (regular and spicy) were both pretty good, but not notable. The spicy really isn't spicy, but I prefer it to the regular. Edit: Tried the smoked wings today. Skip 'em - didn't notice any smoke flavor. Basically BBQ sauce on a seemingly otherwise unseasoned wing (my lunch companion had fried wings and thought they were great). Also, they leave the wings whole (i.e. drummette, wing, and wingtip all attached). That's just a pet peeve of mine - I hate it.

Don't go for the pulled pork. It's as dry as the day is long. I'm kind of surprised because be ribs looked very moist. The Mac and cheese had good flavor but how much velveeta do they put in it. I'll stick to fox bros.

The food was average at best and pricey. I had the sampler with ribs, brisket and pulled chicken. The meat had no seasoning and tasted like air. The sides weren't that great either. I wouldn't come back because there are better places. Realistically you can get better BBQ at Kroeger or Publix.

I was born and raised in Memphis so I know Memphis BBQ. This is by far the best BBQ I have ever had in Atlanta and I have lived here for 20 plus years. The pulled pork has a great flavor and the ribs are perfect..tender with a great smoke flavor, the beans are just right along with the slaw. This is now my BBQ Spot in Atlanta. So glad I found it.

This place is very disorganized, the frst odd thing was that they're "not allowed to give us a wait time", but we were finally seated, plates came and went and I have to say these people are truly afraid to use a spice, brisket and chicken were simple, cole slaw tasted like water and the only thing that a pinch of salt was actually the corn bread. Waitress seems to be knew to the gig since our plates were not cleared in a timely fashion, orders were messed up, the whole thing is still on training wheels, I hope they get better with time but for now, it is a no repeat for me.

This is an awful establishment. We were seated quickly, however the waitress disappeared for a long time. We ordered the cheese fritters which came out luke warm, and swimming in honey Dijon mustard. We waited another 20-30 minutes for our food, and in that time the manager ( hopefully that's who he was) came to the table and asked us how our food was. When I replied we haven't ate yet he said oh I meant your appetizers. Then he proceeded to spout a line of bs by saying well I know your food is coming shortly because I saw the ticket number and it will be out soon. This visit from the manager came after the missing waitress came to our table twice and said the food would be out soon. Now I have worked in a restaurant before and I was shocked to see the manager dressed in his attire. If someone would remind him to pull his britches up then people might take him a bit more seriously. When we finally got our food I can say I was disappointed. The brisket was so salty, it made up for blandness of everything else. The chicken my husband had was cold and if course bland. The Mac and cheese, set up like cement in a matter of minutes, the okra had more salt than a salt shaker can hold and the most disappointing part of the meal was the cornbread. It took everything I had to swallow down one piece. Needless to say we were there for an hour or more waiting on food that was disappointing and expensive. Please save your money and time. Unless I see better reviews on yelp I won't try this restaurant again.

Been here twice, the food is excellent, it's great BBQ. The ribs are insanely good, as is the brisket and the BBQ stuffed potatoes. The service has been hit or miss but nothing egregious and anything we needed was resolved quickly and courteously.

I came here lunch with a buddy one day because we wanted some bbq and decided to give this place a try. The inside of the restaurant is quite spacious with plenty of tables, booths, and bar seating. Our server greeted us and proceeded to tell us about the daily drink specials as well as menu highlights. We decided to just get water to drink since we were about to take in plenty of food calories. As for the appetizer, we went with the BBQ nachos. The nachos were on a giant plate and could have been one of our meals! It came with seasoned tortilla chips kind of like Doritos with pulled pork, queso, bbq sauce, lettuce, tomatoes, and jalapenos. We really enjoyed them but wish we had more people to share them with! As for our meals, we both decided to get our own Pitmasters Sampler which comes a half slab of either baby back or spare ribs, 2 other meats, 2 sides, and cornbread. We wanted to try everything so it was the best way to go. I went with the spare ribs, pulled pork, beef brisket, bbq spaghetti, and corn on the cob. For the ribs, I actually preferred the baby back ribs that my buddy ordered as they seemed to be more flavorful even though the same sauce was used for each type of ribs. I enjoyed the pull pork which I knew I would from the appetizer and liked the beef brisket as well. They weren't dry so I didn't need bbq sauce even though they provided some. The sides however were pretty weak. The bbq spaghetti was just noodles with bbq sauce and I couldn't taste any of the meat that was supposed to be in it. As for the corn on the cob, it really lacked flavor as it only had a little bit of dry rub on one half of it which I couldn't even taste. The cornbread was decent fortunately. Service was on point the whole time as we had plenty of questions and our server was very attentive and helped us with everything the whole time. The final check came out to be a little pricey as well for the average quality of the food. It's an average spot in the area but also one of the few bbq joints around as well.

Ahhh Memphis BBQ. Well for a bbq place in the south I found it rather quiet but I did take into consideration the fact that it was a Monday night so maybe that's the way it is around here. It did seem like a typical bbq blues style restaurant for sure so maybe something else was at play. I did order the bbq combo with pulled pork, brisket with potato salad and mac and cheese on the sides. The pulled pork was solid, tasty and tender as it should be. As for the brisket..meh! Very very dry even though it was full of flavor almost as if it was over cooked. The potatoe salad tasted almost Walmart store-ish of sorts and I wouldn't order it again and the mac and cheese on the other hand was creamy and very tasty making my meal a 50/50 split. I'd probably give Memphis another shot, but I'd pass on the brisket and potatoe salad. I did hear the ribs are pretty bad ass.......maybe next time.

Great service and delicious food. We tried the Pitmaster Sampler, which featured very solid baby back ribs, good pulled pork, and flavorful and tender brisket. Fries were perfectly cooked. Corn on the cob ok. The restaurant is clean, and features indoor and outdoor seating. Service was friendly and prompt. A great addition to the Atlanta BBQ offerings.

This place is a solid three stars - a decent option in Dunwoody but in terms of barbecue in the Atlanta metro there's a ton of competition and it doesn't quite measure up. We've only sat at the bar, so can't comment on the table service. Service at the bar has been friendly and prompt the couple of times we have gone here. Atmosphere is sports bar-ish, with pig-oriented decor. Had some good drink specials the night we went, $4 drafts. Food was good, but the sides were a bit bland. Got the brisket and the sausage. The sausage was fantastic, tender and flavorful and delicious on its own. The brisket, however, was pretty bland and dry. Thankfully, they have plenty of sauce to pour on there and the sauce was actually delicious - I enjoyed the spicier variety. Sides were cornbread, corn on the cob, mixed veggies and red beans and rice. Cornbread was pretty weak, as I prefer the sweet kind and it was everything but. Corn on the cob was undercooked and not too good. Mixed veggies were also a miss, steamed and watery broccoli and onions. Red beans and rice had a good consistency and was well put together, but it was very bland and needed a ton of salt. Overall, it's a good local place for Dunwoody residents to come by and have some barbecue, but definitely not a destination. I'll be back for friendly service, drinks and probably some barbecue without sides. Undisputed champion of barbecue in Atlanta remains Greater Good on Roswell Road - nothing has come close yet.

Lunch is busy for good reason. Que is good and the staff is great. The Memphis dip is a twist on the French dip classic. Insert beef brisket smoked to perfection. I must have timed it perfectly coming off the pit. Jerry at the bar recommended it and like the rest of my visit... He was spot on!

I originally found out about Memphis BBQ Company from Thrillist when looking at the "Best Burger" places for Atlanta. I had it set in my mind that I wanted to try this "best burger" but once I got there, my mind did a 180° to BBQ. I was ready, Freddy! Our server knocked us out of our seats right off the rip by pitching, not only how great their BBQ was, but why! He told us about their owner, Melissa Cookston, who is "The Winningest Woman in BBQ". Not only is she a top pitmaster, restauranteur and author (click pic for her book on Amazon), she also won the 2014 Memphis in May Whole Hog World Champion, two-time overall world champion. Underachiever, right? Well, from that point on, I was absolutely SOLD on getting BBQ and as much of it as I could possibly eat. Our server asks "do you like pork rinds?" and I'm thinking to myself "a restaurant that serves pork rinds? Is he kidding me?". The answer is a resounding NO - he's NOT kidding and brings a basket of pork rinds. Now, you Northerners may not know what a pork rind is and we Southerners try to forget, but a pork rind is fried pig skin. Sounds gross, right? Heck naw, it's great! YOU HAVE TO TRY THE PORK RINDS! The basket of Pork Rinds that he brought had a king daddy pork rind in there and they were OH SO GOOD! We couldn't make up our mind what we were going to order, so we just chose the Pitmasters Sampler which comes with a half slab of ribs and two meats. We chose a half slab or classic ribs, pulled pork and a 1/4 chicken. It came with two sides, and we chose to get house salads. We also ordered some additional sides of fried okra, red beans and rice, and potato salad. It also comes with cornbread. Keep in mind that this dish is meant for one person. BBQ heaven soon arrived at our table when our Pitmasters Sampler showed up. This BBQ is so good you will slap your grandma! We cut the ribs in half and my normally vegetarian wife proceeded to tear into like the carnivore I knew she was! I had a couple of bites of pulled pork but that was the best I could do! The Fried Okra was a little salty for me, but it was still pretty good. The Red Beans and Rice was predictable and I thought would have been better over a dirty rice than plain white steam rice. The show stealer for sides was the Potato Salad. Devoid of any mustard base, it was OFF THE CHAIN. Speaking of off the chain, the Cornbread was phenomenal! It was sweet like cake and OH SO MOIST! It's hard to imagine any better BBQ than Memphis BBQ Company serves up. They have a large. Spacious restaurant and is perfect for large groups. Come to Dunwoody and you'll love Memphis BBQ Company! Guten appetit! See our full review: atlanta-food-critic.com/…

In my opinion, this is a step above Shane's Rib Shack and I'm basing that on atmosphere and service. The food at Shane's actually taste better to me. I had the pulled chicken sandwich and it didn't taste fresh at all. I also had the turnip greens, which clearly came from a can of some sort. If you're in the area and want a good BBQ sandwich, I suggest Joey D's which is about 5 min away. The service at this place was decent but I think they need to cut the explanation of the owner/founder's awards because the taste of the food doesn't reflect the accolades at all.

3.5 This place is pretty good, but nothing super fantastic or flavorful. This place caught our eye because it's called "Memphis Barbecue" and my family spent some time and has fond memories of Memphis. However, looking on their website, they have 3 locations in NC, GA, and MS, but none in Memphis or Tennessee. Food: -BBQ Shrimp: We started with this app. It's 5 bacon wrapped shrimp. I chose to order this because another review said they really liked this. To me, this was just ok. Maybe the dish wasn't done the same when I came. Instead, I wish we got the Fried Green Tomatoes because those look really good. -BBQ Combo Plate: (Pulled Pork, Wings) The wings are straight up wings, not those tiny little things at other restaurants. These are pretty good, but really messy to eat. The pulled pork was ok, nothing too spectacular by itself, but the original bbq sauce at the table added lots of flavor. -Pitmasters Sampler: (Baby Back Ribs, Pork, Brisket) This sampler is definitely enough to share between 2 and then some. The ribs looked pretty good, although I did not try any myself. The ribs come with the option (like many other bbq places) to be wet or dry. The person in our party ordered them wet, because they really wanted the flavor to be in there. The slices of brisket looked great and can definitely be used in a sandwich if you're taking some food home. -Potato Salad: I loved this side dish. Maybe it's just me and my love for potatoes, but it has a kick of taste that's quite refreshing after the bbq flavor. -Turnip Greens: I could only have a few bites of this. I felt that it was quite bitter. Other places that I've had turnip greens get rid of that bitterness. -Fried Okra: This is a pretty good side, although it felt like whoever cooked these just threw salt on top of it so the initial taste is quite salty. -Cornbread: The bread is quite fluffy and definitely should be eaten while hot. They also have the Grand Champion and World Champion Platters which, if you have lots of people in your party, gives you a taste of a lot of their bbq options and side options. We saw 6 people in a party get the World Champion Platter and each still had a whole take out box to take home after. Service: Our waiter was knowledgeable and answered our questions thoroughly, but he didn't exude friendliness. Maybe he was having a bad day or had long hours. But he did come by and check up on us and was prompt with our take out boxes and check. Overall: If you live in this area or only staying around this part of Atlanta, this is a pretty good place to go for barbecue, but if you're willing to venture to other parts of the city I would look into other barbecue places to try.

I was looking forward to visit this restaurant based on prior recommendations from the Food Network. Unfortunately I was underwhelmed. Had the Pitmaster Sampler. Here's the breakdown... Spareribs (Dry): Good rub, tender, very little smoke flavor. Brisket: Moist & smoky (very delicious) 1/4 white chicken: Bland & dry Turnip Greens: Ok. Meat smoke flavor Mac n cheese: Very little cheese flavor & peppery. Looked like macaroni salad without the vegetables. Fried Green Tomatoes: Crispy batter & seasoned. Oh well, I guess my spot in Midtown still has the best ribs.

Having had *amazing* BBQ in Kansas City, this place was the best of what we've tried in ATL so far. The Pitmaster Sampler has much to offer: baby back ribs were tender and juicy, brisket was flavorful, pulled pork was moist. Fries were hot and crispy. Corn just so-so (a bit over-cooked). A good amount of food for 2 people for lunch. Service was good. Will come back again for more BBQ!

First off Jesse the host is not a Hawks fan, but at least he's friendly. Actually the entire staff was friendly and deserves some kind of customer service of the year award. My mom loves BBQ and this year, I decided as her dinner treat we would come here and eat BBQ and watch the basketball game. We also decided to come the Saturday night before Mothers Day as neither of us were in the mood this year to fight traffic or crowds, that being said, we were sat almost as soon as we walked in the door and had an option of outdoor or indoor seating. We also, had the option of sitting at the bar where there are some large TV's. We started with the BBQ shrimp appetizer and the fried green tomatoes. While the tomatoes were good, I'd skip them next time and save the coins for more shrimp. Gulf size shrimp, wrapped in bacon, with a bbq- buttery sauce and two pieces of Texas toast. As I sit here and write this review, I'm thinking, I could pick up those shrimp when I get off tonight. They also offer maybe several combos that allow you to try all different kinds of meats, and some side dishes. My mom and daughter went with the full slab of Baby Back Ribs and were asking for a to go box within 5 minutes of their plates being brought to the table. I selected the BBQ combo platter and went with the 1/4 chicken and brisket. The brisket was good. I'm talking bout eat straight out the fridge at 3am with no sauce as you stagger from the kitchen back to bed good. The chicken was honestly no better than any other bbq chicken. My daughter also added a side order of the sausage to the order. I asked if I could buy a side order of the shrimp and was quoted a price of $6 for four shrimp. After getting home, I decided that I should have just went with another shrimp appetizer for $9. Its 5 shrimp, but you get the sauce and the toast, neither came with the side order and when I inquired if I could get a small bowl of the sauce, he came back with a tumbler of cold butter. Not the same thing at all. Skip the mac and cheese and say yes to the Red Beans and Rice and the turnips. 4 ladies at a table next to us ordered these baked potatoes. okay, when I tell you that the pulled pork was falling off the plate it was so much food on that tater. Bring your appetite. You're gonna need it. Bravo to Cooper for earning a 25% tip. He dealt with my mom expertly and with a smile all the way. As my daughter says, mom, you running the man, well I inquired if I was, and he stated that I wasn't. That I was just fine. And it came off very sincerely.

So good! A must try is the donut burger, don't be ashamed to want it! I went twice with different parties and ordered the donut burger both times...we cut it in half and split it on each occasion to save a few hours at the gym. The second time I was there the donuts were kinda hard, maybe slightly over cooked. Other than that would've been 5stars, I'll defiantly be back though....one of my favorite bbq spots in the Atlanta area.

We picked Memphis Bbq while driving down the street. The wait staff was very friendly and attentive. The cheese fritters were good. The honey mustard sauce through me off a little, but I'm not a big honey mustard fan. The Memphis burger was good. The pulled pork was a little dry, but the original bbq sauce gave it a great flavor. We'll definitely return to try the ribs.

Great barbeque and great service at the bar! I stopped in the Dunwoody location last night because I was in the mood for some delicious barbeque and they delivered! We sat at the bar and our bartender, Denise, was very friendly, made great suggestions on both beer and food, and engaged us the entire visit. I went big getting a half rack of baby back ribs, brisket, and pulled pork with sides of BBQ spaghetti and fried okra. All of it was cooked perfectly and was delicious. There were also complementary pork rinds and a couple house BBQ sauces to add to the meat if desired. I personally liked the spicy sauce. The draft beer selection was also great with a nice variety and some local selections I am always interested in trying. There is both indoor and outdoor seating, but the bar is a great place to be with sports on TV and Denise taking care of you!

The pulled pork was sweet and succulent! It could've been a bit more smokey but let's not split hairs. The red beans and rice didn't disappoint either. Turnip greens were delicious too. Baked beans flew a bit under the radar unfortunately. The mac and cheese was good but is very hit or miss every time I come. Cornbread was sweet and descent. The homemade pork rinds stole the show. I'm stuffed!

We'd drive past Memphis BBQ Co on our commute home, and always comment, so this time, we decided to stop. Never again! It was a little after 2:30 when we got there, so it was pretty dead. The server was a mix of overbearing and upbeat...a lot of "that's fantastic" and "it's superb" and while that's not a bad thing, too much of it plus a syrupy sweet drawl can kinda wear you down a little bit, like "dang! May I eat please?" On to the highlights. The pros: *The inside decor was really clean and was very aesthetically appealing. *Very quick with the water refills. The cons: *This is just me but when I'm in a restaurant and it's empty, I expect to see someone doing something at least a little bit productive. Half the staff was standing at the bar looking bored, the other half was standing at the host stand chatting it up. They ALL were loud, and talking about stuff that you just shouldn't talk about at work. *The server was just too much. Going in too much about his personal life. Honey, I really couldn't care less. The food: *The sausage on the sausage and cheese plate (appetizer) was pretty good, the rest was...well, just see below. *The cheese on that sausage and cheese plate was just pepper jack and colby jack cubes that you get out the bag, the crackers were stale. It was just a weird plate all around. *I ordered the bacon cheddar burger: Our server said "since the patties are so thin, they are always cooked well done." Idk where he eats his burgers, but a thin patty that was not. It was two 1/4 lb patties add everything else. The fries were great! I'd order just the fries alone honestly, because the burger could have come from Applebees or Sonic and I would not have been able to tell the difference.Same taste and not very well seasoned. No offense, Sonic or Applebees..just sayin. It was a basic tasting burger. *My mom ordered the BBQ Combo Platter w/ pulled pork and brisket. The pulled pork was actually very lukewarm, and looked really soupy. The smoke ring on the brisket was actually very good, but she said that it just wasn't good. *The macaroni that I ordered on the side...nah. Go head and leave that alone. That's about it. As a place who won 6 BBQ championships, I'd hate to say it but they need to give their trophies back.

I kept driving by this place after work and had been wanting to try this place. Finally tried it out...Memphis BBQ Co. Is pretty new and the inside decor is clean and bright. We were seated quickly and greeted by our server Jesse swiftly he was very nice and was kind enough to give us background about the restaurant which I thought was nice. I ordered the wings as an app and a Pitmaster Platter. They provide fried pig skins which I was told are good(I don't eat pork, hubby does). The food is really great they have the juiciest brisket I've had ever! The chicken breast is even juicy! They definitely give you plenty of good food and you may need a to go bag. Sides were Ok they complimented the meal. Service was friendly and fast and I will definitely be back for lunch! Didn't get five stars as there seemed to be allot of staff walking around aimlessly, but I know this is the beginning and I recommend it. It's good BBQ!

Came to eat with my husband for lunch looking for something different when we came to this Memphis bbq place.we walked in the place was cold and empty only one other person In there when we arrived. We pondered the menu and decided to get the sampler with ribs brisket sausage and mac and cheese and red beans and rice.she asked did we want our ribs wet or dry we said dry because I like a good dry rub on my ribs and add sauce as needed. Food came the ribs looked ok but the cook didn't try to season the ribs and they were tough no fall off the bone here.then the brisket oh the poor brisket tasted like meat out a can no smoke ring no flavor jus bland meat.mac n cheese way definitely for babies teething absolutely gross then these red beans and rice omg change the name because they have nothing to do with red beans and rice taste like Gerber for babies with no seasoning and these cat meat or possum sausages were horrible two people one plate and plenty food left and no to go plate was needed and they put some thing that I think was corn bread but could have been a brick or wheel chock for a bus.please dnt waste your time here if u want good food dnt stop here but if u need bricks for your new house come get their cornbread. Staff sucked as well so won't ever make this mistake agsin wasted 31 dollars on garbage when dollar menu would have been so much better.stay away from places that sell bbq but dnt kno how to cook it.

Visited during their soft opening and the experience was lack luster. I ordered the PP sandwich and instead of French fries, I opted for the onion rings for an upcharge. They food came and there were 5 small onion rings on the plate. The server said she was sorry and would see what she could do. She spoke to the manager and the manager said that is how the plate comes, did not come to the table to address it. At the end of the meal the manager came by and said she would take the upcharge off the bill but it was to late, I was already done. It wouldn't have hurt for them to put a pickle on the plate either. Who serves a sandwich with no green on the plate? The manager seemed annoyed that she had to talk to me, she was from their store in Mississippi and probably didn't want to be in Georgia in the first place. They do not have a lunch menu and not many people I know want to spend $15 plus tip for lunch. I will go back again once they get their footing to see if it is better.

This review is for take out only. I was very impressed with their take out, particularly, the quantities. I ordered the half chicken plate with 2 sides. So often the to go sides at bbq restaurants are served in those teeny tiny cups that hold 2-3 bites. Not here. You get what you pay for. The sides are actually true side portions. I also ordered a pound of pulled pork to go and it was definitely a pound, if not a little more. I appreciate that. When we order pulled pork by the pound from Pig N Chic, it is a joke. At Memphis Bbq Co, they certainly value the customer and what they're paying for. Their pulled pork is outstanding. It has the perfect pink smoke ring, it's not fatty and the flavor is super. Get sauce bc it doesn't have any, which I like, so that the customer can add at their own liking. It's certainly worth visiting and great for to go orders.

A friend gave a very good recommendation, but was a little concerned with tepid and negative Yelp reviews. Our meals were excellent. Wife's brisket was lean and well cooked and seasoned. My pulled pork was wonderful. Mac and cheese, grits, and okra were very tasty. My only disappointment was that they hadn't finalized liqueur license, so no beer. I will frequent this place.

My family of 4 ate an early Sunday night dinner here. Good food. Good service. We enjoyed our meal. I had the pulled pork sandwich with red beans and rice and my husband had the pulled pork platter with a side of brisket and onion rings. He started with a Caesar salad which we shared. Everything was tasty and came quickly. Our kids liked their food and loved the pork rinds the server brought before our meal. They'd never had them before. I thought I wouldn't like them but I did too! All in all a good experience. We will be back!

Boyf and I drove by the other day and saw Memphis BBQ had recently opened and thought, "hey, why not." Knowing it's a chain I didn't go in with high hopes. I left just slightly disappointed even with that low bar set. We got seated right away even though it was lunch hour during the work week and the place was packed with the office crowd. We sat outside, though, so I'm not sure if we would have had to wait for an inside seating option. The hostess got us drinks and our server came out shortly afterwards. We couldn't decide on food so we kept sending him away. He never seemed impatient or annoyed and that is very much appreciated. The menu options are decent. There are the typical BBQ items as well as some unique items (something about a glazed salmon?). That could be a really great thing - offering something for everyone - or a really awful thing (think Chico and Changs). The first disappointment came in terms of side dishes offered. First, no sweet potato casserole. WTAW? This is the south. We love sweet potato casserole here, do we not? SECOND was that they only offered turnip greens and not collard greens. Turnip greens are okay but I was wary of getting them from a chain. So no. We eventually decided on the memphis burger (both of us - it looked so good in the photo!). It's supposed to come with a 6 oz patty and 6 oz of pulled pork (slaw and cheese, too). You can substitute brisket for an additional $3. We wanted pork. I kept the side of fries. Boyf requested baked beans in place of fries. The wait for the food wasn't long - that's a plus. The food we received was not what we ordered, though. First, no one brought out the baked beans for Boyf. The other issue is more of an "issue". We were both too hungry to realize it at first so it wasn't until we were halfway through our burgers that we realized we had brisket and not pulled pork (I kind of looked at it and thought, "hmm, that's not pork." then thought, "Ef it, brisket is good too."). So, I thought it was just mine, but it was Boyf's too. The sandwich itself was good. I'd eat it again (and maybe this time I'd get the pork I ordered?). The fries were standard restaurant fries and I barely touched them. The baked beans were not. Not even a little bit. They taste like beans covered in original BBQ sauce. Very bean tasting. Very BBQ-y. Bushes baked beans in a can are actually better. I kid you not. Lastly, we split a bread pudding for dessert. Our server, bless his heart, said, "and btw, our desserts are all homemade." Oh honey child, sweetie pie. No. Reheating some premade boxed crap is not homemade. So sweet. He doesn't know. The "caramel" sauce was caramel in color.. well.. part of it was... the rest of it looked like melted butter? even mixing it up didn't mix it. The bread pudding was tasteless aside from the canned apples on the bottom. Yeah, those nasty ass apples you get at cracker barrel? That's what the bottom layer consisted of. The table next to us got the mud pie (brownie with ice cream and chocolate syrup). I feel like it's really hard to jack that up so if you go and want dessert you should get the mud pie. We got our check quickly (really, the service itself wasn't bad). We noticed it was a little more than we expected. OH, that's because even though we didn't order brisket we were served brisket and we were served brisket because our server.... really wanted us to have brisket? That's what he put on the ticket. I have no idea how or why that happened but it seemed a little sketchy. Most times, when I get the wrong order it's a kitchen error, not a server error so I'm not charged for their mistake. That being said I'd go back if someone really wanted to go (and try the ribs) but I wouldn't ever recommend it.

We have had food from here a few times. We typically get take-out (which was ok, at best). It was our first time dining in, and it will be our last. I asked the waiter if we could substitute the brisket for the pork on the kids menu sandwich. He looked at me as if I were crazy and said, 'Brisket is pork;' to which I responded 'No it's not; it's beef.' And we had to ask him again to check with the kitchen about the substitution. He came back and said we could sub chicken, but not brisket. Fine. When my daughter's sandwich came, it had several small bones in it, which she found, and asked me what they were. My husband's pulled chicken on a potato also contained small bones. When the manager happened by the table to see how everything was, we told him the chicken had bones in it, which is especially dangerous on a child's sandwich as it is a choking hazard. He simply said, 'OK,' and continued on his way, never coming back by. The food is just ok. In Atlanta, there are many better options for BBQ, which I would suggest checking out before ever coming here.

While working in Atlanta I've eaten at well over 20 BBQ restaurants. This is by far the best as far as taste and service as well. Spike Leroy was my server and I can honestly say I don't know how the service could have been any better

Went to this place on Thursday for dinner and again on Saturday for dinner with friends. The Wed. experience was really good. BBQ Brisket slaw & fries. The portions were good, the service excellent. Took friends back for dinner two days later and ordered the exact same meal, with different outcome. The portion of the brisket was half the size of the Thursday nite portion. The waiter did not know what to say or do, so he called over the "manager." The manager was pretty rude to my husband, and told him that it was a standard size portion, and he didn't see how my husband could eat any more than what was given. If after eating it he still wanted more it would not be a problem. So at the end of eating the brisket, my husband asked the waiter to bring him more, and he finally did after consulting the manager. How does a manager argue with a repeat customer in front of friends when they are trying to establish a new restaurant? I would not take anybody else to this restaurant. It is overpriced, and nothing special! Too many up charges also. We are the type that never complain or ask to speak to a manager. You would think they would want constructive criticism!

You can't ask for more. The food, service and atmosphere is amazing. I had the combo plate with brisket and chicken and the chicken as well as the brisket melted in your mouth. From the hostess to the servers and the management, all were very friendly and aware of the diners. Overall it is a great place if you enjoy BBQ....

Food was ok, not anything to write home to mama about. I had the pulled chicken sandwich which was fine but not very filling. The potatoe salad was bland. Nice staff.

Food was awesome! Beef brisket, slaw, fries and cornbread flavor for days and they don't hold back on portions! Food came quicker than I expected, service was pretty good and the AC was a very nice after working all day in 95deg! I will definitely come back !

It's good BBQ!

wonderful food! My boyfriend is really picky about his BBQ, but he instantly fell in love with the food. it surprised me because a lot of people gave it 3 stars. Service was great. Food came out in a timely manner. We shared a platter. I'm not sure how that one is made for ONE person; we had two to-go boxs. lol. I'll definitely return for another go at their plentiful plates of food!

Don't go for the pulled pork. It's as dry as the day is long. I'm kind of surprised because be ribs looked very moist. The Mac and cheese had good flavor but how much velveeta do they put in it. I'll stick to fox bros.

We love it! The Grand Champion Platter is good enough for 4 and they were tasty. The BBQ taste is not overwhelming. The servers are nice!

The food was average at best and pricey. I had the sampler with ribs, brisket and pulled chicken. The meat had no seasoning and tasted like air. The sides weren't that great either. I wouldn't come back because there are better places. Realistically you can get better BBQ at Kroeger or Publix.

Jess (the server) came through again. We took my in-laws today, got a table right away. My mother in law asked for a sample of the cole slaw which she liked and ordered. Okra was great and everyone loved the ribs the best.

wonderful food!

Sooooooo amazing!!! I'm glad I don't have to drive 6 hours to get the BEST Memphis BBQ. The atmosphere, staff and food are top notch! So excited to have a taste of home here in Atlanta. I highly recommend Memphis BBQ Co.
