Well this place is crazy on the weekends! We were on the porch and it was really loud! I think the table full of party guys next to us had something to do with that. Drinks seem expensive until you down the first one and realize that sucker was loaded with the alcohol. More than 3 would take out any one...now that table of rowdy people make sense. Menu consists of tapas and tacos. I had two tacos and both were extremely good. Others had the standard Combo Dinner #7 and said the typical Mexican food was pretty good. Only thing bad here was the service. The waiter told us after taking our first drink order that it was crazy busy but 20 minutes between visits is a little long. He got his act together later in the night as the place started to empty a little but when I see the other waiters in our area about 3-4 more times than ours I started to get a little miffed.

Service is terrible and the drinks are over priced. Seriously, we waited for twenty minutes for a drink. Once we got our drinks we constantly got heckled about ordering the buffet. Our group was asked four times whether we wanted to have the $11.99 buffet. It's only $11.99! Are you sure you don't want it? Are you sure? Are you sure you're sure?? Four times! I'm also pretty sure they served watered down shots of tequila.

Great service. Great margaritas and the food was really good. I can't talk about the many activities they seem to have (bingo, karaoke) but I'm looking forward to go! ha

I came in here fully expecting to hate the place just because of the horrible reviews. But dang! This place was pretty awesome!! haha I came here with a biggish group of 10 people, they made us sit in the lounge while we waited for our table to get set-up. While sitting we ordered a Twister (pitcher) and that is serious buiznez! It tasted like alcohol with a little bit of sour mix, so yes it was REALLY strong. We were happy :) Cheshire Bridge aint so bad! So here is break down of why i gave this place 4 stars: -twister will get you a little close to being slizzerd -tacky mexican decor, a must have in any mexican restaurant -amazing yucca fries and cilantro dip! wow! -gave us free round of shot of tequila (with a bloody mary chaser) just for agreeing to move our table -good queso (although small serving) -really good tacos, i got the puerto rican Taco pastor and it was great! i really didnt like the rice or salad but the tacos itself were fab -gave us free pitcher of strawberry margarita just coz they had extra! what?? -last but most def. not the least, who doesn't love trannys??

Omg this place not worth a dime. I would not eat here if the food was given to me free. . It was very bland with no flavor. The service was very sub par. There too many good mexican resturants in atlanta to choose than to come to this place. This place was worst than any standard commercial mexican place. THIS PLACE SUCKED!!

Las Margaritas is the suckiest place ever, and I do not say that in an exaggerated manner.. Went there to play trivia because a friend was hosting, and the management insisted we had to sit on the club-level-loud, overheated, oddly lit, enclosed patio to play trivia, even when I explained I had an ear disorder and had to be somewhat removed from extremely loud spaces. We'd been here on two other occasions; this was the second time that we were forced to leave because of the volume on the patio and the inability to play trivia in the virtually abandoned "restaurant" area. Most of the tables were taken by restaurant staff chilling out, not by customers. On the previous occasion, we noted to the staff that we were leaving because of the volume and overheated patio, and they indicated they couldn't care less. The waitress tonight was downright rude when I asked her to open the door to the patio a bit so we could play trivia. I explained I had an illness that necessitated this, that I was friends with the DJ, and with the owner of the trivia company. Total indifference. I told her that was pretty dumb to voluntarily lose customers because you refuse to open the patio door, but she didn't seem to care. I hate bitchy waitstaff at dive bar restaurants. I hope they close down, especially after I take the time to post reviews about how customer service is kind of a matter of indifference to them. We got our 200 points and had a lovely meal at Chow Baby in Midtown, so, whatever. If you want to be treated with class and respect, spend your money at a classy place where the waitstaff actually cares about having customers. No wonder the place was virtually deserted.

I recently moved to the area and had been searching for a good mexican restaurant. A friend recommended Las Margaritas. I'm glad he did. The steak in their Southwestern salad was amazingly good. Great flavor. Their queso is some of the best I've tried and their salsa is good as well. No complaints here. I've already been twice within the last couple weeks and will be returning again soon.

Awesome margaritas and selection of rums and tequilas. I had the corn nuggets as an appetizer which were delicious! Very friendly wait staff and bartender. Will certainly be back for the all you can eat brunch.

I really like this place! I'm a little surprised by the mixed reviews. The drinks are really tasty, if a little overpriced. I loved the atmosphere and the friendly service. I've always had tacos, either fish, shrimp, or crab. The crab were especially good, as is the coconut shrimp appetizer. Really good! My one complaint is that it can be a little pricey.

Having been a long time patron of Las Margaritas, it all changed about a year ago on my birthday. The upgrades to the bar inside were a pleasant surprise, but that doesn't make up for the poor service, cold food and stale chips we received. To add insult, as a table of 4, we were charged extra for a second basket of chips AFTER ordering a cheese dip and not having any chips to dip in it. I understand charging a table that isn't ordering food or drinks, but after an $80 tab, that was ridiculous. The atmosphere is fun and the drinks are strong, but the restaurant itself has gone down hill. Having introduced Las Margs to numerous people and bringing the restaurant a lot of business, I'm happy to say I will never step foot in the place again. There are loads of Mexican restaurants that are more deserving of your money. Take my advice.

Las Margaritas is an odd little place. The food was decent--I probably should have been more adventurous than ordering a combo plate. The menu is huge. Flavor is not. Unless you are talking about the staff, anyway. I would go back, and try something more unusual next time though!

I had a great time! No complaints. It was a Friday afternoon so not so busy. I drive past a lot and weekend nights it looks packed! They must be doing a good job! The food is not expensive and they have lots of specials and discounts. Food was very tasty to me and my guest. Servers were excited and conversational. I will surely be back!

I think my fellow diner's reaction pretty much summed up our experience here. "I literally cannot think of one good thing to say about what just happened in there." The only positive I can think of is that our waiter was friendly and decent in service. The rest of the experience was simply awful. Our margaritas took about 15 minutes to get out to us. We were told the bartender was in training so he was a little slow. Fine. 2 of 3 margaritas were undrinkable. Had to send them back. The food was equally as terrible. Dried out, bland meat on the tacos. Everything was covered in this mayo-ey gunk. I mean, really bad. I have come here for brunch several times and never had a good meal. The BF had sworn off this place awhile ago, and now I have followed. Will not be back.

I wish I could give negative 5 stars. The food was horrible. I gave this place a try for the first time today. I Ordered the steak fajitas. The entire dish was cold. Cold steak, tortillas & bland rice. The-re fried beans were just as bad. It looks as though the only good thing at this place were the margaritas, judging by the three pitchers around our table. I didn't order them, but I wish I could have, They would have helped me wash the nasty food down. Skip it and go to Taco Bell. Or better yet La Perla taqueria which Is up the street.

I've never had a worse dining experience in Atlanta. My friend had been here before and wanted to go for her birthday. The service was slow but it was a Friday night so it was forgivable because I'm a reasonable person. Then we got our drinks... We both got something different (hers I can't remember but the rest of the table got a pitcher of the Paloma) and both tasted like dirty tap water. Like they made the ice using the bathroom water and then left our drinks out for long enough for the ice to melt. It was bad, so bad we had to send them back and get beers because we dreaded taking another sip and at that point beer was the only taste we trusted. So beers come and some of them are warm and then the manager comes over to ask about the pitcher and by ask I mean abrasively say "what happened to the pitcher". No "hi how are you, I heard you sent your drinks back, what happened?" Nope "what happened"... Like honey I don't know... Why don't you ask the bartender. I don't know if they were trying to stretch their liquor budget or if the bartender was a trainee that night but drinks were bad. The food was good though. Not good or special enough to save the experience but I don't have anything bad to say about the food. The table next to us were friends of the staff and they were having a grand old time and it just made me wonder if our experience would have been better had we had a friend on payroll.

Ehh...just go somewhere else. My friend recommended it to me and my friend, Steve, and we were pretty disappointed. The staff is extremely rude and the clientele was VERY loud and annoying. We sat out on the patio, which had fans running on this very hot night, however, I was still sweating and sticking to my seat. The worst part was the pitcher of "frozen" margaritas we ordered. It was actually served to us MELTED. Nothing frozen about it! And no salt around the rim. Lame. Also, I ordered two spicy tacos. Their idea of a spicy taco is to put some chicken or beef and a hot pepper inside of a taco shell. No lettuce, tomato, cheese or ANYTHING else in the taco. The service ALONE would make me not want to go back, but the drinks and food were awful, as well.

Las Margaritas is somewhere I go for a different experience. Yes, a lot of times people expect places to have delicious food and great service but, if you are like me. I just like having a great experience with the company I keep. The food here is average for Mexican. It taste good but not great. The service could be better but, its not bad. This restaurant excels in atmosphere. The decor is excellent for the type of food they serve. Every time I sit on the patio I really do feel like I am in a Mexican restaurant in Guadalajara. The drink menu is very nice a bit over priced for midtown standards but I digress. A great thing about this restaurant is the owner Oscar will walk around and make sure everything is okay. It is hard to get the owner of a place to get up and make sure everything is good. Overall, if you are looking for a decent meal in a good atmosphere this place is it.

Service is kinda a big deal to me. You don't have to completely entertain me or win me over like the guy at Purple Rain, but it will improve your rating if you do. When you flat out suck, however, I can't even think about the food. In defense of the guy he did tell us - at the end when he was asking us to fill out comment cards - that he was new. Had he put this disclaimer on things from the beginning most things probably would have been forgivable. But he didn't. - Drinks took so long that the manager came over to ask if we wanted drinks after it was obvious we'd been drinkless for-freaking-ever. - He couldn't answer any questions we had about the menu. Just "I don't know." Ummm...how's 'bout you go check and get back to us? - Friend ordered drink on the rocks, it came frozen and then he said "Oh, that only comes frozen." Coulda said that... - Food came out quickly, but the salsa I wanted for my salad? Let me just say that one of my pals had finished his entire dinner before the server came back - without my damn salsa! - Another friend ordered water and 45 minutes in - still no water. She'd finished her margarita before he noticed and said, "I'm sorry, we ran out of glasses." *side eye* Really?? The place wasn't busy enough to warrant mediocre service by any stretch of the imagination. No way I'd consider this place an option again.

I used to frequent this place quite a bit since I lived so close to it and I'd bring a dozen friends for two-dollar tapas on Tuesdays. Everyone loved it and it's an underrated haven for good food. I'm not certain about the meals since I always got tapas, but that seems to be the way to go. If you're a homophobe, you might want to keep driving. I went there with friends for Cinco de Mayo when it was totally packed and we all had an excellent time, but some of my more Catholic friends were uncomfortable. It's like the Village People exploded in there. The pitchers of Margaritas are great, especially with the Gran-Ma, and the food actually has some spice. Get the stir-fried jalapenos to feel the burn, and a Texas pitcher to cool it off. Then try out the yucca fries and the tacos al pastor. The balance is a little funky -- you can spend $8 and be full and then spend $25 on your drinks. I think they do water the drinks down when the place has a big event, like Cinco de Mayo. Otherwise this is a dive-y place next to a pawn shop and ONYX, that flies under the radar, but impresses every time.

The food was pretty good being we have been two times. The fajitas left much to be desired given the chicken was totally processed. The fresh guacamole was fair missing ingredients for sure. for the margaritas were pretty good. Would go back given the atmosphere and just an overall fun spot.

The food is decent if you stick to what you know - the last time I tried being adventurous, I was sorely disappointed and didn't even finish half of my meal. You can make a meal of the "tapas" section (I put it in quotes because they say "tapas" to mean smaller portions - they're not authentic tapas) which includes a large variety of tacos, empanadas and other typical latino fare. Really, it's cheap, Mexican food. The service is pretty good and I like the atmosphere, but overall it's nothing I would write home about.

It's my Zuma's of the south. But since that reference probably means nothing to you, what I mean is this is in my top 3 most visited restaurants in Atlanta. It's possibly even #1. But is it amazing? No, far from it! Yet I keep going back. The big draws are: $2 tacos on Monday, $2 tapas on Tuesday, an ideal chance to repurpose one's food budget. Into more mojitos. Although recently they stopped offering the discount on seafood dishes which resulted in several angry (and let's be honest, drunken) texts informing my friends of this great injustice. When not with a bigger group, I prefer to sit at the bar. This is usually entertaining, considering the Cheshire Bridgey-ness of the place. You never know what you'll see at happy hour. People still strung out from partying the night before... or creepy 'photographer' guy telling the bartender that he 'could be a model' and inviting him to 'pose' at his studio.

40 minute wait once were seated to even order a drink only to find out my rum and coke was nine dollars! I didn't even order top shelf rum. This was a Mexican stand off and I lost. Robbed at the table. The food was only ok. There is really no reason to go to this place when there are so many decent places around.

Stopped in for lunch one day and the food was great. Like, really great. Very tasty, indeed. I loved the decor and vibe of the place, even when it was fairly empty. Unfortunately, I didn't get to try the margaritas (it was a workday) but I will definitely make a point to go back and do so post haste. And I definitely have to go back and check out Crazy Bitch Bingo on a Thursday night. I think everyone has been there but me now and they all say I am seriously missing out.

I had the ropa vieja... it tasted like all the other ropa viejas in town. This place is deec, but I won't be going back. Unless I have a craving for maduros...those things are the best in atlanta. That's it. Go here if you plan on going to the colonnade for lunch and when you get there you find out that they don't serve lunch.... Like that shit won't happen to you.....

  • Chris P.

I've been there a few times. The food has been really good and the owner gets around to most tables making sure everything is ok. I have seen alot of bad reviews on here and honestly I can see how this could happen. The times I have been here I could see the service on a hair string. By that I mean if it got any more crowded it would go to poop. Thats why I gave it four stars and not five. I wouldn't doubt that in my next few visits that the service will make me want to lower my rating but so far the food has been great and I can't complain about the service. My suggestion so far is be prepared for good food but hit or miss service.

I would have enjoyed sitting in the bathroom with food poisoning for a couple hours more so than having brunch at this restaurant today. Fortunately for myself and my friends........we have great senses of humor and have been keeled over laughing since we got home. Seriously though, if you love awful service and want a guaranteed bad dining experience.....check this place out.

Las Margaritas is a place where a good time will be had by all, but there are some hazardous pitfalls to avoid. The decor is nice, desert-y and unique, and the patio is heated and wonderful. Go Thursday nights for CRAZY BITCH BINGO with Bryen Christopher, but only if you are difficult to impossible to offend and only if you enjoy fun. People who don't like fun are invited to stay home. The crowd at Las Margaritas really makes the experience, as it often does. The menu is pretty big with mostly Mexican and a few random Latin dishes (wonderful, crispy croquetas, plantanos that melt in your mouth, yum yum.) It's not award-winning food, but it's better than average and the drinks are good. Their margarita menu is expansive and they have unique things like a variety of mimosa-type drinkies. Service, though, is gon' getcha. At best, nothing goes wrong and your server is polite but it won't knock your socks off. At worst, your server is cheerful but inattentive and scatterbrained (or possibly misheard you over the thumping bass beat spun by Mr. DJ.) The BF is the least picky person you've ever met, which is why he hasn't complained once that his order has been screwed up every one of the last four times we've been there. He'd pretty much eat anything on the menu so he's never unhappy, but I'd speak up. Things tend to go funny, like apps coming after your entrees, having to ask thrice for a glass of ice water, and most recently I ordered one raspberry and one pomegranate margarita that showed up on the bill (and in the glass) as cranberry. Which I suspected but couldn't be sure of. Especially because I thought my server said "cranberry" but I clarified "raspberry" twice and asked again when it came and looked a paler pink than I'd expected and he kept agreeing yes, raspberry. The food is good and the atmosphere is great and delightfully gay (that means two things.) Which I guess is why we keep going back. It's also two blocks from home. So, there you go.

I'm tempted to give this review 4 stars. The ambiance is awesome. I love how they have couches by the bar, and all the neat decorations. It has a nice vibe to it. The food seemed average. Not bad, but not amazing. I haven't eaten much on the menu though. Next time I go back, I will update this review. If you celebrating your birthday ( 21+), you get a free tequila shot!

Every time I go here I leave slightly disappointed. For some reason or another I seem to come here about 4 times a year - usually at the request of the other person dining with me or to meet friends already here. Tonight I got a call from my friend Alec as I was leaving my office. He invited me to meet him and some friends for a drink. We sat outside on the patio and even though it was about 68 degrees they were apparently also using propane heaters in an enclosed patio. At first it was uncomfortably hot and then I guess they realized that it was becoming an oven because they turned the fans up and then it got annoyingly breezy. Drinks were okay. I had a Texas margarita on the rocks while they split a pitcher of frozen ones. I had two very small margaritas and one tilapia taco that came to a grand total of almost $20!! The taco was good and the drinks only sub par, so I was shocked to have a $20 tab. There isn't anything special about this restaurant and it is surprisingly more expensive than most others in the area. Go if you must, but don't make a special trip here... save your money for a meal worth spending it on.

On a Sunday and after I had won my K-Swiss singles league in tennis , my boyfriend and I searched aimlessly for a Mexican-like restaurant... Time for a celebratory lunch. After scouring Buford highway (close to Buckhead though) and strangely going into a couple places whose prices were crazily expensive (I am talking like $40 appetizers... It was weird... Gringo prices I suppose!), we came across cute Las Margaritas! It has a patio that is heated in the winter, and an inside that is decorated with a Latin American-like bright and bubbly vibe. This place has a charm that you don't find in many restaurants. My bf and I actually visit here most often for Latin American food, which is quite similar to Mexican for anyone who is wondering. It is a little far from Castleberry Hill, but certainly worth the drive! The prices are great and the menu is broad with numerous options for even the most picky eater. I can't wait to go back! They have brunch on Sunday's but you can still order from the regular menu (which is what I do). You should definitely check it out if you are craving Mexican (and I cringe saying this, bc it is advertised as Latin American, not solely Mexican) and some margaritas!

Yuck - maybe it was an off night, but something tells me no. Are things that tough for them financially that they have to dilute everything? The cheese dip tasted like warm milk with a dash of cheese in it. The margaritas were like watered-down sour mix and a splash of triple sec (could not even taste the tequila). My dining mate totally agreed too. My dinner had NO flavor. Waitstaff was aloof and also messed up my dinner order. Oh, and the parking's a mess (which I normally don't mind if the place is worth it). Ok, the patio is cool - it's really the only good thing about this place is the big patio. However, it's so close to the street that it takes away from the ambiance. Sorry - I just can't go back and give it a second chance. That's almost 2 hours of my life that I'll never get back.

A colleague wanted some Southern food after we landed back home, but unfortunately Colonnade Restaurant closes at 9pm. We drove across the street to this location. We were seated quickly in the sauna outdoors, still getting used to the crazy heat here, compared to that of Chicago, Cali and Hawaii. Our server was a little hard to understand, but brought out stuff pretty quick. The menu, confusing, as many others mentioned. I was like, Oh, Combos, Oh, this, Oh, that, the more I looked, the more I realized how bizarre it was designed. The food was good, opted to just go a la cart since the combos are limited to only mixing and matching the combo items (another confusion on the menu). A corona with lime, and that was the experience. After seeing a giant bug on the wall, my colleague asked we leave quickly. Paid up, and bailed. Not sure if I'd go back, unless going just for drinks, and to try a Sangria Swirl or Melon Mojito as others mentioned.

I used to love this place. We went for a late lunch on Sunday. The complimentary corn chips were very thick, hard, coarse. We ordered cheese and spinach dip. This was frozen spinach thawed into Queso dip. Almost $5 for the very small portion. Then we ordered a Chipotle cheese steak sandwich and Enchaladas Mole. We asked for no beans on the Enchaladas, they forgot. The sandwhich was pathetic, very little meat on it. We left.

Love this place, have been here many times, and as with anywhere else, you're server can be hit or miss, but the food and drinks are always good! Really, the parking is not that bad ppl. You drive down a slope/driveway and find a spot, not too difficult, you just have to walk up-hill. If it's too "bad." valet next door at Nakato, then take the sidewalk. The drinks are strong the atmosphere is great and yes it can get LOUD (we had a bachelorette party there!) but that is the fun of it. If you want quiet, go elsewhere, this is a party spot!

Sundays, Champagne Sundays - I've gone here for a few years and never really been a huge fan, but on a whim my husband and I tried out the Sunday buffet. Boys in fedoras and smiles are full of compliments and fists full of endlessly flowing mango mimosas will make your head spin for a mere 17 bucks. Beware though, the DJ (yes on the patio) is partial to prog house, which can make one eat and drink fast sending you quickly into a food induced coma or worse, a weeble wobble mango mess. I normally hate buffets, but this was a good time and the food was above average. The omelet bar was awesome, the rest of the food was decent. If you're going to try this place, Sunday is the best, otherwise I would give it a 3 for mexican. Not amazing, but not bad.

I'm not sure how we got here, but I did have lunch here on Sat. Still learning our side streets, my husband and I were on our way to Home Depot, when he saw the sign for Las Margaritas. We decided to give them a try and while it was not my favorite, I thought it was a good value. The waiter started off with a bang, but then we had to flag him down to place our order and get our check. I got the lunch chicken fajitas for $5.95. Not a lot of flavor, but I did make two nice tacos out of the meal. Husband had the 3 way combo and thought it was lacking spice. We did like the chips and salsa, but I don't think we will be returning.

Cheap food, bad service - you get what you pay for. Some friends and I went out for Mexican this past Friday night. We chose this place for its location. When we arrived, the restaurant was relatively empty. It filled quickly though. The good part about this restaurant is its cheap. Most of us ordered the "pick 3" combo for $6.95. The bad part was it wasn't very good. We were super excited about the prospect of ordering cheese dip and when it came to the table it was room temperature and hard - not a good start. The drinks were pretty good, when we got them. Service seemed to take forever. The bar area got busy and the bar tenders couldn't get in front of the orders. Our waited several times brought us the wrong number of drinks. In the end, we drank enough so we had a good time. If your going there for lots of drinks and dinner with friends its an option, but if your concerned about overall quality of food and service you might want to consider other options...

Calling Gordon Ramsey!! ... I saw Kitchen Nightmares was looking for restaurants in Atlanta and this place came to mind... I went for sunday brunch. The mexican food was cold and just not good. They did have omelette station but I did not partake. Another tell tale sign of trouble is that there maybe 10 people total in the restaurant for brunch. Skip this place until you see it on Kitchen Nightmares.

Yea, this place is pretty decent. I understand the other reviewers - good or bad....this place falls in the middle of the road. Our server was attentive and friendly. The food was average I would say. Nothing too special. Just a place to stop in to get your drink on or to get a bite.

My boyfriend and I went there the other day and we walked in and waited to be seated. We grabbed a menu while we were waiting and thought WoW this place was kinda pricy for what it was. We kept on waiting. We probably waited for 7-10 minutes and not one person came to greet us so we just walked out. If you want good customer service i would NOT recommend this place.

Like David K, I only come here at the request of another or if an entire group is going. I came here last night with Jacob, Bert, Brad and Bentley for dinner before hitting the bars. It's probably been about 4 years since I have last been here. Since Jacob and I got there pretty early, we hung out at the bar. Jacob ordered the twister (margarita swirled with sangria) and I got a Watermelon Mojito. The mojito was probably one of the best mojitos I have had in Atlanta! When the rest of the group arrived, we were instantly seated at a table on the patio. The menu is very difficult to read! It seemed very scattered and very difficult to find what you wanted. For instance, why would your combo meals be typed in very small 8 in script, but kids menu and vegetarian in like 16 in script!? I ordered the usual #1, which is the taco and 2 enchiladas. I also had to try the cheese dip to see if it was good. Overall, the food was meh. Seemed like everyone else thought the same way, since no one really finished their meals and just ordered more drinks. I think its a good place for an after work drink or if you are in a huge group and are having a hard time trying to find a place to accommodate you. Definitely try the mojitos though when you are here!

The food is pretty good, the menu is a mix of Mexican and Latin/Caribbean food. They have the basics, and do them well: pork, rice, beans, platanos...no complaints from this latin girl. The cocktails vary from OK to excellent, depending on the bartender, I guess. The decor is bright and inviting, you walk in and expect to have a good time. The wait staff is friendly and accomodating. However, when we went for Crazy Bitch Bingo (LOVE!) they seemed frazzled, and a bit understaffed to handle the almost-full patio.

As far as Latin food is concerned, this is one of the better places I've been to in Atlanta...but not the best. The enchilladas, chile relleno, and tamale were all good. The rice was better than most restaurants. Good beans, good salsa. My wife says the waiters are pretty hot. And the prices are pretty decent. Service could be better.

I love the fabulous gay waitstaff and bartenders here. The food is really good but for some reason the guys always say they don't like it....hmmmm, wonder why ;) All of the food is really good. Love the fun people there too.

The husband and I ended up here randomly after a tiring week-day of work followed by post-work errands around Atlanta. This was our observation: Food--hit or miss. My fish tacos were flavored very well but could have used more meat. The side of plantains and rice and beans were very good. The rice/beans seem more cuban style than your standard Mexican restaurant and I appreciated the change. My husband's strip steak was so thin that they couldn't help but severely over-cook it, even though he ordered it medium-rare. He told the waiter he wouldn't order it again, while I said "don't you know you're not supposed to order a steak at a Mexican restaurant!" Drinks--Margaritas were way too expensive and don't taste that great, but have alot of cheap tequila in them which was a plus considering our tired, frustrated mood from driving around Atl all evening. Ambience--Typical cheap Mexican restaurant decor, dim lighting (as in 3 of the 4 bulbs over our table were out), a little old and dingy. However the patio is huge and had it not been so hot and humid we would have typically opted to sit on the patio. Noise level--outrageous. Since we arrived shortly before their closing time, they had already started playing their music very loud because one of the waiters likes it that way. We asked our waiter to turn it down, but another waiter kept coming back over to the register and turning it back up! This was really bad customer service in our eyes. Don't expect your typical wait staff that you get at most Mexican restaurants (good old Juan and Julio). This is on Cheshire Bridge road--can I saw freak show on yelp? There, I said it, and that's all I'm going to say. They were funny though and kept us entertained!

Ok this place is a little strange...BUT IT'S ON CHESHIRE BRIDGE! I think that should be your first sign that it's on a separate plane of existence...I mean first of all I like that you can mix and match your latin foods...from Mexican to Cuban to Spanish. I like having fried plantains w/ my tacos de carne asada...I'm an American; it's my right. They have AWESOME guacamole...that will keep me coming back if all else fails. Their presentation is really nice, too. They bring it out to you in an avacado shell w/ a little piece of cilantro hanging out of the top and I appreciate the flare. Actually, all of their food is very artfully prepared so it kind of makes up for the lack of flavor...It's kind of like the stereotypical dumb blonde, "awww but you're so pretty..." My husband doesn't really like to go here, not sure what happened to him but he said his #1 tasted like a #2 so we don't really go here anymore. I sneak away for work lunches sometimes so I can hit some of that delicious guacamole mmmm....

Okay, I know other people were having a good time at this place but we sure didn't. The service was horrible, HORRIBLE the night we went. We waited forever to get our order taken, even longer to get the food, and when we finally got it, my food was wrong. When they did bring the correct food, everyone had already finished their meals. And the food was pretty bad. Here's a tip - if you want a sangria, save your money and go to the grocery store for some Kool-Aid. Either way, you're getting the same taste. Oh and if you do end up going to Las Margarita's, avoid parking in their "parking lot" behind the restaurant. It is a giant clusterfuck.

The concept of all-you-can eat combined with made-to-order brunch sounds like an irresistible deal, especially when Mexican food is involved and its only $10.99 You get the best of both worlds, right? Well...not exactly. The menu, features mostly Mexican lunch items, with a few concessions to breakfast (eggs and chorizo, omelets, waffles and pancakes). All the good Mexican breakfast items, like the arepas, are only available ala carte. For all-you-can eat, you get to order up to 3 items at a time...and this is where it goes bad. Unlike most tapas restaurants that serve each dish as it is ready, here they waited until the order was complete before serving it...and it wasn't pretty. The waffles and potatoes were cold, the chicken salad leaked into the ham croquettes. The Mexican selections were hot and tasty, but they were all served on the same plate...from what we could tell, everything tasted good cold, so we can only imagine how good it would have been had it been served hot. If you're not a big breakfast fan, this brunch has heaps to offer from quesadillas to empanadas. I'll go back with a game plan...order just a few things at a time, set up camp, and work my way through the menu a little less haphazardly!

The drink menu is so overwhelming that it took us about 15 minutes to finally order a pitcher of the frozen mango/guava margarita at the suggestion of our waiter. Who knew that a margarita can have so many flavors? - Honestly, I'm fine with tequila flavored margarita. But they did. Our male server dressed in all black with a pink sash tied gracefully around his waist did an excellent job keeping up with our table of four and made sure that those who wanted salt got salt and those who didn't received just a slice of lime on their ordinary plain stemmed glass. . I ordered a shrimp taco with a side of rice and beans for $10! That's ridiculous for what it was. The taco had a total of 3 shrimp - they were delicious and well seasoned. The rice was typical. But the black beans were such a disappointment - the mashed up gray goo, YUCK! I won't be ordering food here ever again. The margaritas we tried were alright - a bit too sweet for my liking, but at least they didn't have that store bought bottle mix you find at most Mexican restaurants. If I come here again, it'll be for the $2 tapas on Tuesday and a plain margarita on the rocks. That way I can sit on their fancy porch on Cheshire Bridge and enjoy watching the cars pass by on their way to the porn shops down the corner.

First of all, dont let the parking lot setup deter you, it is bad but the food is so worth it.The first time I went (2 adults and 2 kids) was on a Saturday afternoon so seating wasn't a problem, wait staff was polite and the Twisters were on point. The second time we took out of town guest large party and they had live entertainment. Kids adults everyone had a great ,time the food was hot the servers were pros, you must try the juca(I think )frys dipped in salsa andcheese. We will be returning soon, just beware of the parking lot.

Bottom Line: If you name your restaurant Las Margaritas, make sure your signature drink, the margarita, is the best thing on the menu and the best one in Atlanta. Sadly, Las Margaritas is neither. It has absolutely the worst margarita I have ever put in my mouth. And this isn't from just one visit. I have NEVER had a good margarita there. For $6, $7 and $8, I expect a good margarita! For $2.99, well, that's different... you get what you pay for. And margaritas at Las Margaritas are NOT $2.99...far from it... It really doesn't matter if your atmosphere is fun, servers are attractive, and prices are fair (although on the high side for Mexican food) if your drinks are almost undrinkable and your food is nearly inedible. I most recently went during a Cinco de Mayo celebration there, and could not find a single soul who liked their margarita. This place needs to go back to the basics...learn how to make a margarita first (change the mix for god's sakes), and then work on the food and service. They already have the atmosphere and servers (didn't necessarily say "service").

went here saturday night and it was ok. I ordered 3 chorizo soft tacos and lets say...well, the tortilla was pretty good. My girlfriend ordered the chili and I quickly wished I had ordered that instead. It was pretty good. The chorizo in my tacos was dry and I had salsa only because we had some left over from the chips and I had to ask for guac. and sour cream. My girlfriends margarita was pretty good. Now the server department was interesting. All the servers are men. And all very pretty men at that. It was a little weird and didn't really bother me until I went to the restroom and found posters of men in their underwear everywhere. And down the hall towards the restroom also. I really could have done without the posters. Or at least throw in a woman here and there? anyway... The food was ok. Drinks were good. Prob. wouldn't go back only because there are a lot of places that are better.

A friend (with apparent low food standards) recommended this place so I decided to check it out. First impression, the ambiance is nothing special, the hostess was obviously wanting to be somewhere else, it took her a while to process our request for a high chair. I ordered the Churrasco, which was not bad but not great, the maduros it came with were good but the rice and beans had no seasoning, people in my table ordered chicken tacos and a paella which was awful and the rice was mushy (ironically the menu said it was one of their best dishes). The worst was a lady (who seemed to be the owner since a picture of her back in the 80's was on the wall) who sat the whole time next to us with her laptop and a big mess, by the end of our meal she was yelling at one of her employees. Not only was she being unnecessarily rude to the employee but she completely ignored the customers around her. I didn't have any drinks from the bar so I can't comment on that area but with the abundance of Latin American restaurants, Las Margaritas is definitely not worth a second try.

Las Margaritas, my local mexican/latin restaurant, I go there every monday for Karaoke night. What can I say? It's an enjoyable karaoke, although not very busy. If you're one of the first three people to sing you get a shot of tequila! Almost worth it! But unfortunately, the tapas is not good, not good at all. The tacos are decent, and the drinks are good and strong!

Our friends and neighbors raved about Las Margaritas, so we finally got them to bring us--it was PACKED at 9:30 PM, so I figured it would at least be solid. The service was really slow, but the margaritas were strong and the salsa was spicy (it could have used a bit more cilantro, in my opinion). My fish tacos were DELICIOUS--spicy, hot (temperature), and wrapped in steamy fresh tortillas. Yum. Prices were a little high, but the atmosphere was lively and fun, and it's a good place for groups and outdoor dining. Nice to know it's there!

I went for dinner on a Saturday night with some friends. I hadn't been there before. The Coronas were moderately priced at $4 each. I ordered #24 which is a combo plate: burrito, enchilada, and chalupa. The choice is beef or chicken, that's it for meat choices. It seems like no matter which meat option, the chalupa is meatless (bean only) and is NOTHING like any chalupa I've had anywhere -- not even Taco Bell. I had it with beef and it was completely bland. The food is, however, cheap. The majority of the seating is on a patio, so the tables and chairs are plastic. It's heated in the winter, but it just seems so chintzy.

Well I used to love this place as they had the best ceviche! I went tonight with a friend and I don't think we will go back. Something has changed, big time! Ceviche is no longer on the menu so I ordered Latin shrimp and it was good. The margaritas----what in the hell? Water and I tasted hardly any mix or tequila. We should have sent it back it was so bad. And the music was way too loud but then again maybe I am just getting too old :-) Pozole's is practically in my back yard and their margaritas are wonderful so we should have gone there! I will not be going back to Las Margaritas!

I've been a fan of Las Margaritas for years The service is sometimes spotty, but the food is almost always solid and the drinks are strong. I especially love their pollo a la Vallarta. I've also had their fajitas and soup, both of which are also good. There are definitely better Mexican restaurants in Atlanta, but Las Margaritas is always a treat.

The restaurant is dope but what brings me back is the Crazy Bitch Bingo. Chris and Brandon bring the fun! I've followed them from Joe's here and I have yet to be disappointed. From the irreverant humor to the disrespectful karaoke lyrics you can't ask for a better time. Oh and by the way hook yourself up with a bucket of the twister and you are ready for a good time. BTW: big ups to Brandon for his FABULOUS rendition of "Single Ladies"; you bring down the house, honey! Asian Wayne, who? LOL!

Again with me and the soup! Seriously though, their latin chicken soup is sublime. Soooo good - I crave it pretty much constantly. The staff is friendly, but if you order to go during the day make sure you check your order. They can be a little slack. But they sure do mean well.

for a place called las margaritas, their margaritas are not the best ive had. but they get 4 stars because i love their food especially the crab stuffed poblano peppers... i like the atmosphere and its a good place to go with friends... the only thing i really hate is their parking,,, i can never find a spot!

Great place to eat! The food is awesome! The carnitas literaly melt in your mouth and the pastor and fish tacos are nothing to turn your nose up to. But beware, if there is a crowd the food quality suffers. Families should be prepared to drink the water at the table because non-alcoholic refills are almost impossible. The wait staff is a bit...well flighty. Go when there is no crowd and be prepared for great, affordable latin food.

Despite the cheesy name, this place is really great! The first time I went here was when a friend of mine had their birthday party here. I wasn't looking forward to what the food was gonna be like. I assumed it would be just another gross El Azteca nasty mexican type menu. However, I was very wrong! Everything we ate and drank was delicious. The second time I came here, with my BF, the staff was very welcoming and friendly. They even brought us out an appetizer on the house which was a warm polenta cake with just a bit of cheese in the middle. The guacamole was fresh and served in the avocado shell it came from. (i love that!) The veggie plate I got was perfect...grilled spinach, mushroom, red pepper, onions with warm tortillas, plantains, rice and black beans. It was awesome! BF got the fajitas which were basically the same thing but more grilled stuff and more $$. I love that the food was authentic. It was definitely right on the mark of a typical latin american meal. They also have good list of beers and tequila. I will definitely be back regularly!

Pretty decent place. I am surprised by the low reviews. The drinks and food was great as was the service. The only thing was that they forgot one of our taco and didn't give us silverware until we asked for it multiple times. Overall, it was a nice hang out place.

Here are some questions to answer to help you decide if you should visit Las Margaritas: Do you like tasty but strong drinks? Do you like Latin food? Do you need a big screen to watch the game? Are you looking for a large covered patio area? If you answered "yes" to any of these questions (especially the first) then Las Margaritas will be up your alley. Do you need a wait staff who understands what you're saying? Do you get frustrated by sometimes having to go to the bar to order another drink/get additional service? Are you looking for a quiet atmosphere? If you answered "yes" to any of these questions, then Las Margaritas is probably not for you. Overall, this is a great drinking spot with some decent Latin cuisine. The twisted margarita has 5 different liquors in it and I recommend doing it with the white sangria instead of the red. Proceed with caution on ordering a second or third.

There are good Cuban dishes. The Mexican dishes are meh. The wait staff was friendly, and knowledgeable, which gives this place the second star. Not sure we're returning, because my compadre was insulted about a particular event. We're in a pretty diverse dining crowd, but he noticed that only certain folks received a complimentary drink. They were all pretty pale in complexion. He asked about it, and the host turned away quickly after saying it was a special Happy Hour event. That killed the mood, so we ended up settling the bill. It's too bad, the owner seemed more savvy. It was shaping up to be a great weekly dinner spot. How the music switches to EDM around 8:30 was weird, too. It's a restaurant, not a club.

Great mexican place. They have a great patio and a large indoor area. They have more authentic mexican food than many of the places around. They had great salsa and chips which were complimentary, and some great burritos. Servers were nice and efficient. We got our meal very quickly. I have no complaints about this place and can't wait to go back.

Yesterday was my first time at this establishment and while the service was extremely slow, the waitstaff and hostesses were very friendly. Additionally, the food and drinks were good. As I said in the Tip section, do partake in the chips and salsa... Me gusto mucho. The salsa in my mind was great with the perfect notes of spice and citrus.I wanted to try everything on the menu, however, my budget would not allow so I decided to get my usual favorite when visiting a Mexican restaurant, the fajitas, which were damn good! (Am I allowed to say damn?!) Anyway, the steak was tender and it had this sweetness to it, Im thinking teriyaki. The veggies were roasted or grilled to perfection and seasoned just right. Pico de Gallo, yellow saffron rice, and sour cream... I was in food heaven. My friends loved the drinks and strongly recommended the "Twister". I would have given it a 4th star but for a place that was not busy they were too slow for my taste, the restroom felt like a sauna, and I received 3 seperate sets of eating utensils that had food particles on them. That last time I just asked for plastic utensils. Overall, it was good experience.

FOOD AINT NOTHING TO BRAG ABOUT. That being said I'm guilty of ordering two egg white veggie omelets. I wish hey had a bigger selection for Sunday brunch, but perhaps my diet restricts the variety they offered (caters to the carnivorous clientele). All you can drink is a nice touch....at first. They went from serving up some delicious mojitos and mimosas to serving nothing but orange juice and minty club soda. NOT OKAY. I'd come again with friends but am in no absolute hurry to go back.

The $12.95 Sunday brunch was a great deal and even included a custom omelet station. You can also upgrade to the $19.95 brunch, which includes unlimited sangria/mimosas/Mojitos!

Met three of my friends for brunch yesterday (Sunday). We elected to have the buffet. I was pleased. Chef on duty to make custom omelette or eggs, pancakes, waffles (whatever your heart desires). Vegetables and protein available to choose to add to your custom dish. Selection was vast, diverse (mac and cheese as an example) and pretty darned tasty. For $19.95 we had full access to the buffet and 1 1/2 hour of unlimited sangrias, mimosas, bloody merry's, and mojitos. While I wasn't overly excited about the quality/taste of the drinks-who really cares with that price point. We were done in plenty of time for me to get over my hangover by late evening same day. Do it just for the experience. #DPursuitIsReal #TellingYouWhatIThink

HOW ON EARTH DOES THIS PLACE ONLY HAVE 2.5 STARS?? After a fun friday night tasting at Sweetwater Brewery we drove a couple miles away for some dinner. We were welcomed by who appeared to be the manager. He promptly setup our table for 7 on the festive patio. We were enjoying our reasonably priced pitchers of margaritas for $28 and $3.95 tacos when next thing we know a drummer comes out to play while the waitress sets complimentary shots down for the whole table! Food and drinks were good and we were treated so well...5 stars it is!

This place was fun, but not awesome. The service was good. Staff here was attentive. But paying for the meal took about as much time as eating the meal. And the burrito I had was not worth the price-point. I had the stuffed crabmeat burrito. I was of the impression it would be, to quote the menu, "real crabmeat baked in a mojo sauce with onions & fresh jalapeños." It was none of the above. Imitation crabmeat with no life, no spice, and frankly, if the onions and the jalapeños were there, I missed them. But the drinks are where it's at. This is the real draw. Plenty of crowd pleasers here to help you get your buzz on. People seemed to like the Twister. I had The Boss. Others had the Skinny something-or-orther. All were tasty. However, I wasn't here to drink. (And as much as I like a good drink, I'm not really into drinking, anyway.)

First, let me state that we went on Cinco de Mayo - not that this is an excuse for poor service or bad food, but I get that it's a busier night than most. That being said - the service was ridiculously slow, food was served cold, the food order was wrong, drinks came out after the food, they never refilled the chips or water, and tried to fix the whole situation with a shot of tequila and barbecue sauce (strange? yes). Terrible experience. Will not ever come back.

Fun time with some work colleagues. We had some drinks, a few rounds, got to watch the game, and we sat outside on the patio for a while which was cool. Good strong drinks, tasty food, and good service at a good price.

So... I was disappointed. I had checked out the menu before my visit and got to the location ready to order. But, they have changed the menu and now do not offer some of the signature dishes they once did. Like the paella dish. I ended up getting a trio which consisted of 2 tacos(on corn) and one chili rellano. The tacos were ok. And I did not like the stuffed pepper. I've heard the drinks are pretty good but I didn't have any of the adult beverages so I can't say. Over all I give then a two because nothing really stuck with me about this place.

Ok, so I'm updating and I still love this place, I wish I could go more often. Tacos are still awesome. Twister margaritas are still delicious (sangria & margarita mix). My companion and I both had tacos this time (3 taco combo). They were all delicious. Service was still great. Owner kept passing out tequila shots to everyone. It's a fun and colorful place to have a great margarita and tacos.

With a name as mundane as "Las Margaritas" I was actually expecting this place to be far worse than it actually was. To the restaurant's credit, the service that so many other reviewer's have lambasted was actually fairly on point during my visit - however, the waitress did mention that it was only her second week, so perhaps she wasn't yet jaded by the parade of Cheshire Bridge tragic that typically darken this place's doors on a typical day. Unfortunately, the food was slightly less impressive - it was readily apparent that the kitchen staff have yet to learn that heat is an integral part of the cooking process. Food: Las Margaritas is a casual Americanized Mexican restaurant that primarily serves food as a necessary prerequisite for ensuring that customers can counteract the effects of their extensive drink menu. Available options include everything from mojitos and pina coladas to spiked lemonade and over a dozen different margaritas. The food menu is equally as extensive and includes a nice combination of standard Mexican fare such as fajitas, tacos, and enchiladas, as well as more novel options like Latin lasagna, stuffed crabmeat chile rellenos, and a Latin burger trio. I ordered the pollo a la veracruz, which was a lightly battered chicken breast, sautéed in lime juice, white wine, and capers - it was served alongside latin rice and black beans, the latter of which arrived in a tortilla bowl. The food wasn't particularly memorable for anything beyond the fact that it was bordering on cold when it arrived at the table. Service: Our server, Cici, was slightly craycray. We actually weren't supposed to initially have her as a server, but she happened to pass by as we were walking in the door and enchanted a few members of our dining party. She had only been working there for a few weeks, so she wasn't able to offer many recommendations when asked - however, what she lacked in experienced, she made up for with personality and entertainment. She even showed up with a complimentary shot for a member of our party whom she inadvertently bypassed while taking the entree orders. Atmosphere: Whoever decorated the interior of this place was either blind or on bath salts. The random Mexican tchotchkes that litter the place were forgivable, but the manner in which they are arranged is baffling. On the patio, there were photos that were hung on the wall overlapping each other and at random angles and levels - almost as if they were trying to strategically cover something. The crowning amenity of this place is arguably the outdoor patio, which is covered to protect patrons from the elements and quite sizable. The atmosphere is very casual and the clientele is mixed, but leans more toward the gay male crowd that predominates most of the Cheshire Bridge corridor. Cost: Reasonably priced. Appetizers are generally $6-$10 and most entrees are $10-$15. Margaritas are around $8/glass and $20-$33/pitcher, depending upon how particular your alcohol preferences are. Domestic and imported beers are $3-$4. Complimentary chips and salsa are served, but any subsequent baskets are $1 each. Other: Las Margaritas hosts different recurring events throughout the week, including "all you can eat" specials on Monday and Tuesday, "kids eat free" on Wednesday, Latin Rib night on Thursday, and an unlimited mimosita/sangria/bloody mary/mojito bar on Sunday. Free and ample parking is available in the private lot behind the restaurant. Vegetarian menus are available upon request.

Enjoyed a spectacular early brunch today. Food was fresh, delicious, and plentiful. It was also quite a pleasure to meet & be served by Talia, and to also meet Oscar afterwards. This place was recommended by one of my (hair) clients, and he was spot-on with his assessment. Will certainly be going back.

It took the waiter about 30 minutes just to give us our water, and when we finally get the water, it's warm without ice, so another 30 minutes of waiting we had to endure. We ordered a pitcher of margarita, and of course the margarita was warm and the ice in it melted immediately and became watered-down. There's was no salt in rim of the margarita glass and the rim was dirty so I had drink my way around the dirty part. I ordered the calamari. The inside was extremely bland, the outside tasted like the Orange or sesame chicken that you get at those Chinese take outs. The calamari seemed synthetic. It looks like the restaurant thew a couple of real calamaris into the huge batch of fake ones to make it seem the calamaris were real. I also ordered shrimp and I'm glad they forgot because we avoided waiting another hour for bad food. We ended up going to Dunkin Donuts to make up for the terrible experience, The food was good, cheap. &, quick service!!' F*ck las margaritas. This place needs to be shut down.

I wasn't sure why this place had a crappy review other than the service was super slow. The food was good and we loved having some strong arse Palomas. The lunch special is a good deal and had great flavor. The cheese enchilada was too cheesy with American cheese but the burritos, tamale and chili rellenos were fantastic. Their salsa also rocks.

Good atmosphere with a laid back attitude. I ordered the cheese enchiladas. They were good, but the cheese is cheddar instead of queso blanco (which I as expecting). The salsa is very fresh and there' s a very spicy pico sauce.

I came here with my partner to meet with some other friends who was already here for dinner. The portion of food was enough for two people and a baby. The drinks was ok but not strong, the problem my partner and I had was the waitress. With 3 couples at the table there was mysteriously 4 pitchers and she said she only charged half price for one of them. And someone needs to take care of her on the tip end since she did that. I thought it was nice of her since it was a benefit to the other two couples but after the 4th time of saying it at every visit to the table I was over it. There wasn't any refill on the salsa and chips after I asked. The couple that suggested the place his partner had to wait on his drink and food. So we didn't leave a tip, as we left she ran outside crying what did she do wrong? The other guy didn't tip me! Like wtf, who, wtf? Did this "bit my tongue" just ran out here with the water works still begin for money. So of course one of the other couples gave her something since they was the one who suggested the place. I was over the place. I would eat here again on an empty stomach but she will not be our waitress.

TERRIBLE. Seriously... My friend was obviously drunk the first time he had dined here. He suggested we come here for dinner around 8 pm on a Saturday. I wasn't really in the mood for Mexican food, but I'm always down for a strawberry margarita and thought hey, why not? Big mistake... The restaurant seemed pretty busy when we arrived, but I really can't understand why. The first table our server seated us at was ridiculously wobbly. I absolutely cannot stand dining at at table that is wobbly/uneven, so I requested another table if one was available. Fortunately, there was, and she quickly led us to the better table. After glancing at the drink menu and getting irritated at the numerous fancy "Fiesta Margarita" options, I asked our server if they offered any "regular" margaritas. Thankfully, they make house margaritas, so I ordered a very basic one - a frozen strawberry margarita ($7). I wasn't too hungry, so I ordered a Chipotle Steak taco in a flour tortilla and a regular Ground Beef taco in a hard shell. My friend got the "1 Taco and 2 Enchiladas" (all chicken) combo ($9.95). While we waited for about 15 to 20 minutes for my margarita, our server brought our first batch of complimentary tortilla chips and salsa. However, my friend noticed that the menu states "2nd Basket of Chips $1". What kind of "authentic" Mexican restaurant charges their customers for chips and salsa?! The chips weren't even warm and fresh-tasting. They weren't good at all. Chili's makes better chips than they do. Sadness. To their credit, however, my friend noticed that our server didn't charge us for an additional basket of chips. As soon as I got my strawberry margarita and took my first sip of it, I knew it was an awful margarita. It literally tasted like a melted strawberry popsicle - and not in a good way. That's the most honest description I can give. I also hated that there were chunks of strawberry in it that tasted like they came from a jar of strawberry jam. Ick. Our food was finally served another 10 minutes or so after I got my margarita. * Chipotle Steak Taco ($3.95) - Per the menu description, this taco contains "grilled steak with chipotle sauce, avocado, onions, lettuce." I requested for no onions in my soft, flour tortilla taco. I guess this meant that they couldn't put avocados in it, either. Boo. If I had paid more attention to the menu description, I would have asked for some. Oh well... I liked the chipotle sauce, which is mayo-based, and the taco tasted decent, but it was ridiculously overpriced at almost $4 for a tiny taco. * Ground Beef Taco ($2.50 per menu, but only charged $1.75) - Yes, I knew this was going to be a very basic taco. However, I didn't think this would mean it would look and taste like something I could make at home myself. The hard taco shell contained flavorless ground beef, lettuce, and some shredded cheese. That's really it, and it didn't even taste as good as a Taco Bell taco (which I LOVE, by the way). Disappointing... Per my request for some hot sauce, the server brought us their "house green hot sauce," which was pretty spicy and made the taco a little bit enjoyable. Overall, Las Margaritas gets 1 star - simply because that's the lowest rating I can give on Yelp. That star goes to our friendly server, who did her very best to serve us in a crappy environment. It wasn't her fault that the margarita was bad and the food was definitely not worth the prices they charge. I will not be back and will warn as many friends as possible to stay away and look for ANY other option in the area if they're craving a good margarita and/or Mexican food. [Review 188 of 366]

Boyfriend and I got food poisoning I suggested going to las margaritas since it was near by, but it was a terrible mistake. We walked in and were greeted by the waitress, she was kind and attentive. The chips were later brought to the table, but were stale and tasted odd/old. We placed our food order and it took a long time even though the restaurant was empty. The food was mediocre; nothing special which was such a disappointment for the amount of time we waited. Later that night my boyfriend and I got very sick, this is the only thing we ate together, so I definitely know this is where we got food poisoning. We will never go to this establishment again. I suggest they change their oil out more often or check expiration dates. Seriously, don't waste your time and money.

I decided that my husband was dressed too casually for the restaurant we spontaneously decided to go to..... so we did an about-face, and ended up at Las Margaritas. Despite the off-hour, a good number of people were already eating and drinking on the the covered patio. This place looks fun! Our last minute change of plans proved to be a good decision. A half pitcher of frozen margaritas was tasty and potent. T -- always on the hunt for authentic chile rellanos -- ordered his stuffed with crab meat. Interesting combination --and good. It was a pretty presentation, too. The beans were served in chip bowl, dyed red. I chose paella. Not necessarily the best I've had -- but a decent choice , with an ample portion of mussels, shrimp, chorizo, chicken, and squid. Mine came with a small, but adequate salad. Las Margaritas offers what sounds like a great Sunday brunch buffet, with omelets and such made to order. A deal at $10.95. Add $7 for unlimited mimosas. This was a fun night. I'm stuffed to the gills and still have a buzz from the margaritas.

REALLY? I went in for dinner with friends. Friday. Been a few times before. The menu is HUGE, and prices are reasonable, but I guess you get what you pay for. This queen kept coming to the table trying to get us to fill out these comment review cards, as if he cared. "I need to know the good and bad", he said. A) Don't interrupt my dinner. B) When I tell you that the avocado was raw and that I WAS CHARGED FOR SOMETHING I DIDN'T ORDER, take it off my bill. Or at least give me some incentive to return. Nope. He said "I'm sorry" in a very disinterested manner and expected me to think that the end of it. The food is bad, but the experience used to hinge on the nice staff and fun decorations. Now it's just bad food, terrible service, and zero attention to detail. Final rating: 0/5

The BF had been here before and said the tacos were really good. So we decided to cruise on over after an intense workout at the gym and get some food. I got two tacos: Chorizo: Grilled Mexican chorizo with Monterrey jack cheese. Fajitas Chihuahua with Chicken: Grilled chicken with grilled onions and bell peppers, topped with queso. We split a Mexican corn tamale (beef). I got to sample some of the BF's chicken fajitas as well. Chorizo taco was OK, nothing to write home about. It was seriously lacking veggies so I took some of the BF's. Not a whole lot of flavor, now that I think about it. I enjoyed the Fajitas Chihuahua taco. In fact, it was pretty much the same as the BF's dish. I liked the corn tortillas here because they were on the thinner side. The tamale didn't have enough meat and the corn covering was just too thick. Before we started our meal, the BF unwrapped his silverware to discover a brownish stain on his napkin -- GROSS! The silverware appeared dirty as well. He grabbed some new silverware off a nearby table. I have no idea what was going on with that dirty napkin.

This location recently got a fairly comprehensive internal face-lift/makeover....It's amazing what a coat of fresh paint, new seating and new management will do! They must have watched restaurant takeover and took some notes [smile] Anyways, Ponchos has long been a regular hangout for me and friends to come for reasonably [READ: CEHEAP] priced pitchers of margaritas.... Generally the crowd was more of a 20ish/young adult /college aged crowd that could get loud and rowdy at times [so if this is not your scene don't bother]....The goal here was cheap liquor, a campy mariachi band [that can get annoying] and sometimes outdoor live band during the summer......Food was a distant second..... Well I'm pleased to say that Ponchos is trying to up its game....the menu selections have improved, the decor is crisp and inviting and the wait staff is far better trained and attentive...... If you've been there and the past and formed a less than favorable opinion I'd definitely give it another go....the new manager seems to be really be trying and it very open to suggestions.... Updated: Hmmm it seems that a number of Mexican restaurants are getting makeovers and upping their game! Las Margaritas has recently undergone a fairly substantial renovations [new expanded bar area, outdoor patio upgrades, new seating and outdoor projector/flat screen televisions]. I never disliked this restaurant but I did have some issues with the hit or miss service [I swear some of the wait staff was high as a kite] and the food was just ok with good but expensive drinks.... Well my here is the skinny on the good and the bad: Good * Expanded drink menu with fairly consistent GOOD drinks * Expanded menu with added American 'bar food items' for those that want Latin Liquor but American snacks. * Much Better wait staff....they seem to have more seasoned waiters [not just arranged intoxicated students making a fast buck] * Nice upgrades to the outdoor patio and the Bar. * More engaged management staff [always walking around to ensure things go smoothly] The not so good * Hmmmm.....all that I can say is the cost for a pitchers....yes the margaritas are good but $33 can be a bit much for some.....the food is mid-priced and better but not over the top great so order accordingly.

I'm landing on 2 stars here, but it could be a 2.5 as well. As mentioned in other Yelper comments - the service is really spotty here and food is ok, but not great. There are a ton more Mexican places in town that you could do much better at. I've been a few times and when they aren't busy, then the service is great, but add a few more people and it's a hot mess. I went to Super Bowl Sunday and will not be back there for a big event like that again. I feel that the servers want to be efficient, but perhaps not possible due to other internal issues. It's very hard for them to communicate (especially when it's loud) and it doesn't help when the manager comes by to ask every table how everything is going, but it's literally a drive by of asking, but not even staying around long enough to hear the answer (strange - why even bother then). Anyway, just know when you go - it's a potential crap shoot. PS- I was overcharged on a few items, but didn't want to wait another 30 mins to get it rectified as it was slow enough to get the food and check out in general.

Went to Las Margaritas last night for dinner and drinks. I've been here about 7 times but never reviewed the place. I finally decided to weigh in with two stars. Service and food are both to spotty and inconsistent for a higher rating; add to that overpriced (weak) drinks and you have a recipe for a two star rating. Admittedly some visits were 4 star, great service and food, but there have been a few too many 1 star experiences. Just know that if you try this place, you're rolling the dice...

I went for Sunday brunch. I have a soft spot for endless breakfast items. Plus they have endless drinks as well & you get to choose between 3 drinks (mimosa, sangria, and bloody mary). All together you pay $20. There weren't that many breakfast items I enjoyed. Bacon was a tad hard and eggs are cooked to order. The waiters were lackadaisical. For AYCD I expect more than two glasses. The drinks are really good.

First off I do like this place and I am a little disappointed after my trip today. My friend and I went on a Monday afternoon, and decided to order the three top shelf tequila tasting for $15.00. Number one it was watered down, couldn't even smell the tequila or taste it. I immediately said something to the bar tender and said it tasted watered down. They came out and assured us it wasn't and said how good and expensive of a tequila it was and the reason it tasted that way because it was aged. We ordered another round to compare the taste, the second round tasted a little better but still watered down. When I went to the restroom I noticed the two bar tenders smelling the tequila and saying things. I knew something was fishy from the first sip I had. They didn't even offer to take 20% off our tab or anything to accommodate us the way they should have. The food is good and our server William was great and did an excellent job. But because of this I will not go back there. Left with spending almost 70 and no buzz. Highly disappointing and won't be returning.

2 stars because the food is decent for what you pay, however the service is consistently bad. The waiters over charge you for drinks and are not forthcoming about drink specials. I'd say this place is seriously lacking customer service. I will not be giving them my money anymore, even if there food is above average for mexican.

I wanted to give 3.5 stars but don't know how to. Anywho's I went to Las Margaritas tonight and it was pretty OK. My waiter was Gustavo and he was really chill and made sure I had what I needed. I ordered a Bloody Mary and was not satisfied with it at all. Gustavo made sure that I had another drink to replace it. I got a Margarita and I didn't really want it at first until I tasted it. Whoa mama! It was good and I'm not a big drinker. Gustavo cared if I was satisfied and that means something to me. I got the 3 chicken flautas. The Bomb! Only thing I would say is either more Salsa Verde or give people a choice of red sauce as well on it. The décor was typical of the Hispanic culture -- bright, vibrant and fun. I liked it. The only thing that pissed me off was the couple who was arguing with Gustavo about 3 tacos I watched them snarf down. Gustavo was a true professional and told them he wanted them to be happy. He adjusted their bill and they still complained-- what can you say? Overall good experience. TRY IT!

Sorry friends, but I really dislike this place and I've been several times. The service is BY FAR TERRIBLE. The food is bland poorly prepared, dried out and overall disgusting. This past Sunday there was a group of about 20 of us. There was only a couple of us that actually enjoyed our meal. I was actually one of them. I just got a quesidilla, figured I might be safe. I've defiantly had better but at least I was able to eat it once I added sour cream and salsa. The lady next to me got the BBQ chicken. It looked like it had been cooked, frozen, and then had its final death in a microwave hours before they brought it out. She kept having to order more BBQ sauce just to swallow it. She finally just gave up. The guy next to me got the ribs, same thing... he tried about 4 different sauces and finally was able to get them down. TERRIBLE! At least they stopped that horrible overly loud DJ from playing on the patio. Its terrible, if Gordon Ramsey came, im sure he'd find a huge walk in freezer packed with food. The chips aren't even good... keep driving, anything else you find will be better.

I went here with my partner and a friend, it was less than great service. The food was Ok, but it took forever for it to come out. We were having some tapas, and it took so long for the food to come out, that we nixed the idea of ordering anything else. There was a table near us with some new customers, after sitting there for 10 minutes someone finally came to their table and asked if anyone had waited on them yet. The wait staff was inattentive and very unorganized. The owner was sitting with friends having some food and drinks, and was completely disregarding that fact that his restaurant is going down in flames. Such a shame that such a great location for a restaurant is being wasted with this mess of an establishment.

The food is ok, but over the last year the service and overall experience has gotten worse every time we go. Tonight we were told to wait at the bar because they needed to clear a table. The host then forgot about us as she sat down to have dinner. Later A manager apologized and took us to a table. We sat 10+ min and no drinks , no chips, no menu, no service. After going back to the host stand and getting our own menus, we finally had a server. Two of us received our food, third person had to wait additional 5 min for no reason to get food. There are either not enough servers or they are too busy having fun. I will miss coming here bc I won't be back. It used to be fun.

After years of driving past Las Margaritas, my partner and I decided to give this place a shot. We won't be going back again. To start with, everything at this place is quite overpriced. La Parilla, which is not necessarily the most amazing culinary experience, offers everything that Las Margaritas does, but does it all better, at a lower price. The plate that I got was reasonable (~$12 - $13), but simply wasn't worth it. The rice was mushy, the beans were extremely bland and the pork, although cooked to a nice enough texture, was pretty salty. If you're going out for a few drinks, then I would suggest going somewhere else. Drinks are expensive - forking out nearly $20 for a margarita with a Corona is simply ridiculous, especially when the margarita mix comes from a bottle. Other places do the same thing for half the price. Finally, to echo some other reviews, the plates and silverware were dirty. Don't be surprised to see a lot of chips and an unappetizing brown color on the edge of your dishes. To go back to value, you can do far better - for three mediocre plates and two drinks each, our bill ended up being $112. Simply not justified, considering the quality of food that you can get at other restaurants here in Atlanta.

I'm usually the asshole that gives 2 stars to a 4-star (avg) place on yelp... but somehow today it seems that the tables have turned. My disclaimer on Mexican food is that I am really not a fan of how its served in the US. Usually they provide Tex-Mex (The greasier, cheesier and deep-fried version of what Mexican is supposed to be like). This time around, it was my friend's bday, so I wasn't going to bitch about not wanting to go there. Funny thing about Las Margaritas: they have the nicest, most friendliest gay waiters I have ever seen. For real, I was getting a little jealous that I wasn't the one getting hit on. The food is what brings me to my 4 stars. The Tacos Al Pastor dinner plate (3 soft tacos, morros (black beans and black rice), plantains and a small salad) was surprisingly tasty. Dare I said it (cause I hate this word), the pork was extremely "moist" and juicy. The plantains were the absolute best part and the salad had a bite to it (i.e. spicy). My friend's chimichanga was pretty tasty too, as it was drowning in a delicious queso sauce. Bonus points for the drink specials on Monday. We got a bucket (which fits 3 margaritas) of mango margarita for $12. Enough to get you drunk, but not enough to make you broke. A small -1 on the waiter for not knowing what "morros" were, since he works there and all. Overall pretty good for my judgy Mexican taste. Yay!

Had Sunday brunch today and ordered the all you can eat buffet. Disgusting. The eggs tasted like powder, the corn was old and dried out, and while my husband enjoyed his waffle, he is now lying down with a sick stomach. After not enjoying the taste of my food, I ate fruit (which was good) so hopefully I'll be okay. Never again!!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
