This place I've been to twice. Both times the food was excellent and they we're willing to change a few things about the dish I wanted without question. The staff couldn't be more attentive and the owner was always at our table making sure everything was to perfection. Enjoyed my evening and planning on going on many more dinners. Best French cuisine in the Atlanta area!

Booked restaurant on open table and the restaurant put us outside without asking what our preference was. It seemed that those inside were regular guests and if I had known that open table or the restaurant gave no choice of seating preference I would have gone elsewhere. The starters were really nice but my steak arrived cold and I had to get it sent back and the vegetables were not tasty

La Petite Maison is a lovely neighborhood spot . . . a pretty restaurant with a decidedly French ambiance. My daughters and I visited the restaurant for lunch recently and had a wonderful experience. Each of our entrees was delicious. My ravioli special was especially enjoyable . . . the pasta had a lovely bite and was clearly made in-house. The pressed sandwich with tomatoes and goat cheese was lusciously satisfying on an cold rainy afternoon and the the hot goat cheese salad was decadent. We all agreed that we felt as though we were back in Aix-en-Provence again.

My fiancé and I had dinner here last night it was a Thursday. We used open table and made a reservation for 7. We arrived just before 7 to an empty restaurant but we were asked if we had a reservation. We were quickly seated and brought menus and water. Moments after we were seated the restaurant began to fill with people. I believe everyone who came in had a reservation. Probably half the seating the restaurant has is outside. It's a very nice covered area with fans and can be screened in. We sat inside. I would say that if you come on a Friday or weekend I would emphasize if you want to sit out doors or indoors when you make a reservation, because of how much seating there is outside. It is a pretty casual French bistro. We didn't feel underdressed jeans. There were a couple parties who obviously dressed up a little but noting too fancy. There were olives, and toasted bread with a olive purée on the table before we sat down it was all quite tasty. We were brought warm bread that was good, fluffy on the inside crispy on the outside. We ordered the smoked salmon as a starter to share. It was brought out quite quickly, and it was probably the best smoked salmon I have ever had. There was a mustard dressing on top and sweet pickled onions on the side. It was very good. The plate was also very beautifully put together. We both had fillet mignon for our entrees. I got the one with the blue cheese sauce and my finance got one with a peppercorn sauce. They were both very good. The portions were much bigger than what I normally expect at a French restaurant but that's fine. My only complaint is my meat was slightly over cooked. I ordered medium and I was definitely medium well. But I was still very tender and melted in my mouth so it didn't take away from the meal one bit. The potato side was very very good. It was some sort of potato cake type thing. The potato was sliced thin and layered with cheese. It was cooked perfectly. I didn't love the green beans I got as my other side. I have had better. We ordered creme brûlée to share for dessert. The sugar top was not as thick as I like but still very yummy. It came with berries that had a tart berry sauce drizzled over top of them. It was very yummy and complemented the creme brûlée well. We did not order any alcohol because I'm 7 going on 8 months pregnant. So I can't be a judge on that but the food was lovely and we will definitely be back.

The carpaccio appetizer was great. The steak entree with mediocre. Thin cut and overcooked for a medium rare. The fried fish filet was mediocre too. Both entrees were not worth the money. And service was slow when we were the only table for a long time. For the price I would have expected better food and service. The restaurant was empty and the server rushed us to order. What was up with that?

I drove by this place for almost 20 years before finally stopping in. I should have come in 19 years ago. Fantastic food (had the veal normandy). Restaurant was clean and well-designed. The server was relatively prompt, but he seemed to be the only one serving the entire (pretty-full) restaurant. Half star off for that. Also, the foie gras is more of a pate than a foie gras (so half off for that too) but it was still very tasty. I will definitely be back.

Stephanie the owner is awesome!! She was/is so pleasant which makes a dining experience that much more enjoyable but even is she wasn't the food will keep me coming back again and again. It just makes it easier to spend your money where the food is excellent and ownership is as nice as their food is expertly prepared. This is NOT your typical small portioned, over priced, served by a snooty French waiter place. This place has everything you want in a restaurant. Inside has a very clean and cozy atmosphere as well as patio seating, pleasant and knowledgeable service, and best of all Great tasting food that has good sized portions with reasonable prices. The ladies at the table couldn't finish their dishes. It was too good to leave or take home so I over indulged. We had Filet Mignons that were seasoned and cooked to perfection. As good or better than the popular steakhouses in town without the astronomical a la carte price tag. We also had veal in a cream mushroom sauce that was fantastic. My main determining factor on whether a place is good or not is a place I want to return to or not. I can't wait to return to LPM with friends time and time again. Great dining experience!!!

My experience at La Petite Maison was exceptional. It's a very quaint place with an authentic French flare. My friend and I ordered a cup of soup (her/french onion and me/mushroom bisque) and the quiche. Everything tasted wonderful! We will return!

We visited most recently on a Tuesday, one of the slowest nights of the week for restaurants but were surprised to find a good-sized crowd. They take reservations, which earns high marks from me. The space is configured in such a way such that it can easily accommodate couples, large parties and business diners with its assortment of seating arrangements. There's even a covered outdoor patio where you can pretend you're dining in Paris on the Champs-Élysées; admittedly a stretch for Roswell Rd. There's a small bar that "greets" you when you first walk-in that also does double duty as a hostess stand. The owner and hostess extraordinaire was not on-premises this night but the front of the house was expertly manned by two gents right of out of central casting for John Turturro's butler role in "Mr. Deeds". These two were everywhere at every time; one was a magician at pouring water which was quite entertaining to watch. Neither asked if they could change our socks; watch the movie. Monday thru Thursday the restaurant offers a Prix Fixe menu featuring choice of a soup or salad, entree and dessert for $32. Not necessarily cheap but the portion sizes guarantee leftovers for lunch the next day. Only wine and beer are served. There's a decent selection of French wines that are reasonably priced by the glass or bottle. A plate of crisp French bread slices, a good olive tapenade and whole pitted olives are waiting at each table. Individually sized French bread loaves quickly appear and disappear just as quickly. We ordered mussels in white wine. They were juicy, firm and plump but the sauce lacked seasoning. Our plan for sopping up this seafood "potlikker" was spoiled by its lackluster flavor. The French onion soup, (Is it just onion soup when ordered in a French bistro?), was quite good with a cheesy crouton topping. The salads are large dinner-sized portions that could easily stand-in for an entrée. In fact, on future visits, my plan will be to split a salad and split an entrée; there is that much food. The ingredients were fresh and the dressings were well made. Both the salad Verdi and the warm goat cheese salad were excellent. The veal Normandy was the highlight dish. The veal was tender and the mushroom cream sauce, while rich, would make a shoe taste good. A side of stewed tomatoes and sautéed green beans was the perfect contrast. The "Gratin Dauphinois" was also crusty, creamy, "potatoey" good. The sole "Chex Nous" was fried sole paired with arugula, Parmigianino cheese, tomatoes, basil and olive oil served with a side of French fries. It's an example of how those sneaky French can make you think you're eating something healthy when it's really just fish and chips; a good dish. The steak frites "Parisien" was the single biggest disappointment of the meal. This simple dish can rival the best of beef. This version was "Plain Jane" and forlorn-looking lacking the juiciness and seasoning that usually makes this dish shine. The sauce on the side could not resuscitate the poor fella; it was DOA. Ending on a sweet note, everyone enjoyed the Crème Brulée and the Profiterolles. La Petit Maison, or "LPM" as the regulars call it, is a very good rendition of its Provencal cousins with just a minor hiccup or two.

[TL;DR] In case you couldn't figure out from the name, it's French cuisine. It's not pretentious. It's cool. It's quaint. It's awesome. I decided to come here when being painted into a corner as the office foodie and pressed to find a spot for lunch. The lunch meeting was initiated by -- JOKING, JOKING. I'm not providing a background story for this. /ATMOSPHERE This is exactly nowhere you would expect this place to be. I'm pretty sure it's neighbor is a dry cleaner. When you walk in, you run right into the bar. At least they have their priorities right. I didn't pay much attention to the indoor seating since it was amazing outside and a covered patio was available. The al fresco experience was perfect for lunch. The waiter, I'm pretty sure, was not faking his accent. /FOOD I had the chicken chez nous and the some soup. Is it right to call it French onion soup at a French restaurant? What about the French bread? Is it just bread? What about French fries?! I mean, I wouldn't ask for Korean BBQ at a Korean BBQ restaurant. I would just ask for BBQ. ETIQUETTE! The struggle is real. Okay, back to the food. The onion soup was pretty good. I've had better, but I'm not complaining. I finished it all up and wanted some more. The chicken chez nous is a piece of chicken that's steam-rolled to the width of a cheap, thin paperback. It's covered with field greens, hard cheese, and some dressing. Really good. It comes with green beans which were just average. The surprise cup of fries made up for it though. /SERVICE No complaints about the service. Attentive but not extraordinary. I mean, you're not getting synchronized plating or anything. No pretentious attitudes here. Just friendly service. HOW TO READ MY REVIEWS: 1 Star - Does not approach edible. Enter at your own risk. 2 Stars - If I'm in the area, I'd pick something else. 3 Stars - I would stop by if I happen to be in the area. 4 Stars - I would pick this place out of other places nearby. 5 Stars - I would go out of my way to dine here.

Great restaurant. Food was fantastic and service was prompt and friendly. We started off with the charcuterie; nice selection of meats and enough for three people to share and each get to try the different meats. I had the mussels in white wine for dinner - it was served with french fries which was nice because it doesn't state that on the menu. My mom had the salmon which was delicious; grandma had the NY strip with a green sauce over it. Steak was so tender! Definitely recommend checking this place out. It is small on the inside, so I would recommend making reservations.

I really wanted to give it 3 and a half stars. The food was very good in spite of the fact that I ordered chicken and they brought me salmon. The server didn't come back anytime soon, so I ate it. The salmon with bernaise sauce was quite good as were the green beans smothered with stewed tomatoes. The French fries weren't great but I ate every last one so they weren't bad!! For dessert I had the profiteroles which were lovely and ideal for splitting since they serve 4 of them on a plate! I'm really thankful that I like salmon even though the chicken with lemon butter sauce sounded better (which I why I ordered it).

La Petite Maison has a nice, homey feel to the restaurant. Great service, and great prices for most of the food portions. I had a bit of difficulty finding something interesting on the menu mostly because menu items sounded more Italian then French, but I TRULY appreciate how friendly the staff is. I know it's not apples to apples, but La Petite Maison doesn't feel snooty as another local French bistro. Here's what my boyfriend and I had: Salad Landaise: This salad was a big concoction of lots of things that suprisingly work well. A few slices of foie gras, duck prosciutto (love!), apple, thin slices of mango, fried goat cheese, red and yellow tomato coulis. I'm not sure what the dressing was as it was minimal, but it might have had some balsamic vinegar, but I like how the salads contents speak for themselves without dressing carrying it. This portion is huge and definitely shareable among two. Nos Escargots Maison: This comes out in a circular ceramic dish with the contents of 6 escargots. We're eager fans of escargot and while this was tasty and comes with some toasted bread, I felt like it was missing something. It's definitely buttery rich despite how oily it is, but I've had better. Friture Royale: Think of this as a gigantic seafood fry with one softshell crab, some shrimp, some salmon and swordfish and some calamari. Definitely a generous portion for one person. This comes with tartar sauce and a garlicky tomato sauce. Both sauces are good. Moules Poulette: This was definitely a generous portion of mussels as well. The mussels aren't huge which is fine, but they do make up with the number/amount for the smaller size. Perfectly cooked, still tender. The sauce itself was delicious. I shamefully used the provided spoon to drink a bit of the sauce like a soup. Oh, and unknown to me, this comes with a nice cup of frites. Side of Gratin Dauphinois: I thought this was a bit expensive at $8. It's creamy and didn't seem too different from any other potato gratin. Not bad if you want a starch as a side. Side of French Beans: This side was just ok, we felt we needed another vegetables besides the salad, but we probably wouldn't get this again. It's just french beans cooked with tomato. I was hoping there would be more French items (i.e. coq au vin, boeuf bourguignon, granted there were beef entrees), but there was a pasta section on the menu and more than one scaloppine dish. Either way, La Petite Maison is unique restaurant on the stretch of Roswell Rd in Sandy Springs and worth trying at least once. Oh and the baguette rolls, olives and olive tapenade are delicious!

I am visiting from out of town. I have dined at many French restaurants around the world. By far the best duck. So Crispy and so tender this duck was incredibly good. My wife had the Verdi salad. She's a picky eater and she was happy. I strongly recommend it. The owner is a nice French lady with a gracious English accent.

Okay I am into this. The food was good and the waitress had a French accent. I met a friend for lunch. During the World Cup we couldn't get into the nearby sports bar so we opted for La Petite. We sat at a nice table in the corner by the bathroom. Table cloths on every table. We sat down and service was kind of slow. I'm not sure how they normally are on a Thursday at about 1pm. They didn't seem overly busy BUT they seemed short staffed. We got water.. And were brought the specials board by who seemed like an owner rather than a waitress. She read them all kindly. Again it took a while to be helped further.. We eventually got baguettes.. Which were delicious.. Our waters were refilled.. Then a bit longer.. And we placed our order. I ordered the French onion soup (felt necessary!) And the Salad Verdi. The soup was not what I expected. Almost a bit of a thicker, chicken broth-y onion filled soup with the typical cheese and bread on top. Very good and filling. The salad. What a salad! I read a tip that said the Salad Verdi was awesome and it definitely is! Its brought to you like a glorious mound of veggies: tomatoes, avocado, even Lima beans.. and mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses, balsamic vinaigrette. Underneath is lettuce with a creamy salad dressing. The whole thing is just delicious and impressive.. And more than I could eat. I tried to finish more of the salad because I knew the soup would be more ideal leftover than the lettuce. I got a cup with a top to take the soup home and a coffee to-go which I didn't have high hopes for, but it was actually good coffee. It was a bit of a more expensive soup and salad lunch than I am used to but I knew that from the beginning when I ordered it and I really enjoyed the meal. We sat inside but could see they also have a great patio that can be enclosed in chilly weather. All in all a nice place for a nice meal and I'll probably be back when I'm not in a rush!

I'm a big fan of La Petite Maison for lunch. I can go there by myself and have a peaceful lunch reading and eating. The vibe is very upscale and you always get a small baguette with butter as you wait (as if I need it). I've had numerous things here and all have been good, some better than others. The veg sandwich is solid, the nicoise sandwich is gigantic, and the chicken salad is really pieces of grilled chicken topped with pesto next to a delicious small salad and some tasty onions and butter beans. The house dressing that is on the salads they serve is extremely delicious. Most of the time they dress the salad properly too and it is not overladen with dressing. I'm not the biggest fan of their pasta with pesto; quite plain and I make a better version at home. I often get an espresso for after lunch. Keeps me on my toes for the 2nd half of the day. All in all a great place to dine when I want quiet time even if the lunches are a bit more than your average $10 lunch meal.

There is French food and there is La Petite. This place refuses to disappoint me and the host is absolutely wonderful. The food, well, just stop by and try it. I promise you will not walk away unhappy.

Our waiter was kind enough (could have been more personable); yet his service was quick and polite. My "demi poulet chasseur" was not tender and the sauce was just okay. My spinach was bland. A little salt & pepper goes a long way. Also, I tasted my husband's steak and it was just ...okay. Way too overpriced. The wine was quite good though and I felt reasonably priced. Oh, and I did like the ambience.

Really good food and super friendly service. Atlanta is lacking in good French restaurants and La Petite Maison really hits the spot. It's a *little* ways out on Roswell Road, but it's very much worth the drive. The food is delicious and, while not cheap, it's very much fairly priced. We will be back and not just for special occasions.

Reservation was made on Open Table which they said was a mistake but they would honor it. Let me start the review by saying the atmosphere is charming. We so wanted to love this place ! After we placed our order we heard another server detailing the specials... Really? No one told us about any specials. The salad that everyone raved about in yelp was an overdressed confusing bland composite of ok ingredients. Not good, not bad, just ok. I ordered the mussels, half of them were open which means HALF were not. When I mentioned this to the guy who cleared our plates he was clearly embarrassed but he never mentioned it to anyone. Our little secret. And probably the most disappointing dish were the fries.... Cold and soggy! Never once did anyone ever come to the table to ask how everything was, not once! Even when they brought the check. It was sort of astounding. So sorry we won't be returning.

Wonderful old school and charming French bistro. Great service, fantastic food. The person writing a poor review bitching about waiting 10 minutes should go to a chain restaurant if they are looking for fast and boring. Don't go to a romantic bistro if you are in a rush, why bother dining out at all? Very impressed all around. The foie gras was perfection.Nice pours of well priced wines. The duck liver pate was lovely. We will be back.

Really enjoyed the food and experience at La Petite Maison. A quaint establishment with a fresh menu. That evening they offered a prix fixe which was a very good deal with a number of diverse choices. The service was on point; wines selection was excellent as well. Looking forward to another visit soon.

We happened on this place on Thanksgiving Day a few years ago. I always have a grimace on my face when trying to go to a restaurant on a major holiday gives me pause to think of the ticked off personnel that are staffing the kitchens, bar, wait and clean up staff...rather than home with their families. Not so here...this is their life and livelihood. It had been about a year since our last visit and decided it was time to make the drive and enjoy an evening with Aline & Cathy. It is their role in life to make one a part of the family...even after a year's absence. In that year, I had forgotten about the portion sizes. I opted for the menu while Susan went for the Special Dinner Menu...for her, the Goat Cheese Salad, Filet d' Sole and topped off with the mousse. I chose the Salmon carpaccio and the Marmitte de Pecheur (a fish evening for me). The goat cheese salad and salmon carpaccio were size huge....not only huge, but embarrassingly good to have that much heaven on two plates. The main courses were now in jeopardy. The Sole came out with a very light texture of half sauté and half breaded with bean sprouts salad along with pomme frittes. The entrée for me was a bouillabaisse type of meal but in a light tomato sauce that gave a little oomph to the bowl while absorbing the flavors of clams, scallops, shrimps, swordfish cutlets that picked up on the basil and potatoes in the broth. The dessert came with two spoons as Aline could see we were capacity challenged; along with the nice touch of a birthday candle for Susan and two flutes of champagne. The total for the above....$120 with tip. However...the reason we were forgetful on the portion sizes (the quality we never forget)...was due in part to other Atlanta restaurants in the same price range that bring out a thimble-ful of carpaccio or a small salade bowl for the same price as La Petite Maison. Ditto on the entrée portions; tag on the gratuity of the valet...and the expense just sometimes does not warrant the evening repast with others. As much as we enjoy the vests, ties and formality of some locations in the metro; Aline and Cathy have the better deal. One pays for the atmosphere and consistent product from the kitchen, staff & general manager....we love to share those evenings out. But La Petite Maison is our place to go again when you want to just hang out with all the good things that Aline & Cathy have to offer.

My wife and I have dined at La Petite Maison 5 or 6 times over the past couple of years and each time the food and the service were exemplary. Our favorite dishes are the Salad Verdi and the salmon dinners (either the specials or the menu options). La Petite Maison is a family run restaurant with the owners always there to greet and serve guests. Unlike other French restaurants, the sauces here are light and tasty, the portions generous and the food very tasty. Unless you are schooled in French cooking, you could not replicate the dishes here at home. That, coupled with the quality and consistency makes this a five star choice. La Petite Maison is not inexpensive, but if you are going to spend $30+ per person, you expect the food and experience to be top notch and this restaurant does not disappoint. Finally, thanks to Open Table, getting reservations here was easy and painless. We will definitely return soon.,

In my opinion, this is THE best French food in Atlanta. I've been to Abbatoir, Atmosphere, and Bistro Nikko and this place has much more delicious food. I came in with my boyfriend on Valentine's Day and received fantastic service. Don't be fooled by the surrounding Sandy Springs area-this place is a gem. We had scrumptious French onion soup, escargot with the most delicious garlic infused butter, petit filet cooked to perfection with potatoes gratin, juicy duck breast, and of course chocolate creme brûlée. The inside is cozy and the tables aren't too close together like some of the other places previously mentioned.

Decent, way overpriced food with nonexistent service. Would never go again - 10 minutes to drink order, 10 minutes for delivery, 10 more to take food order, too long for delivery of food and never saw a waitress again. Our drinks were empty before our entrees arrived, we were never offered another glass. Was finally able to flag down bus boy to get us to go boxes for left overs. Waitress finally reappears to offer dessert which we declined. Took at least 15 minutes to get check and leave.

La Petite Maison is my favorite French restaurant in Atlanta. I'm pretty sure it's owned and operated by French nationals, and despite the odd location, it's very well attended, which speaks volumes about the quality. If you like "Atmophere" in Midtown, chances are you will La Petite Maison even better.

We celebrated 2 birthdays at La Petite Maison last night - actually, not our first time there, but for some reason, I had not reviewed this restaurant before. This is an absolute gem - superb French cuisine, an elegant but not stuffy atmosphere, wonderful service and an absolute delight. We have lunch there quite often - very good, but I find it hard to get excited about lunch anywhere. Dinner is something else! We ordered a lot (5 of us) and everyone was delighted with their selection. I had the substantial House Salad - a very tasty variation on this standard, beautifully served. Then I let rip with Filet Mignon - the sauce choice was Roquefort or Poivre. I could not decide so the waiter brought both in little dishes! Superb cut of steak, excellent sauces, and served with au gratin potatoes. My daughter had the Magret de Canard et ses Fruits de Saison - a wonderful crispy duck - delicious. Other highlights of the evening's dining included the Plateau de Charcuterie - a wonderful assortment of meats and pate, the special house foie gras - superb, and Moules "Poulette" served in white wine, shallots and cream sauce. Somehow, we managed to top of the feast with Profiteroles and Creme Brulee - again, delicious, large portions sufficient to share with the group. The wine selection is limited but very good - and no full bar, which was probably a good thing given that mine was one of the birthdays being celebrated, and I might have gone even more overboard if cocktails had been available! For a special night out, I highly recommend this wonderful family owned and run French Bistro!

I have been driving past La Petite Maison for over 4 years since moving to the area and had always wanted to have dinner there. Tonight my husband and I finally made a reservation and went. The hostess was very friendly and the atmosphere was wonderful. We were given French bread with olives and tapenade (which was delicious). Our entrees were outstanding; my husband said his steak was the best he has ever eaten. I had the friture royale, which was a tasty assortment of fried seafood (and I am not normally one for fried food) with sauces for dipping. My mouth waters just thinking about the soft shell crab! We had tiramisu for dessert, which we savored down to the last bite despite how full we were. Our service was superb. Eating here was definitely worth the wait!! We will definitely return again for a special occasion or nice night out.

I went several months back while on a visit to Atlanta prior to relocating to the city. I thought it was amazing. The service was impeccable, a great wine selection, delicious fois gras, and even the steak frites were yum! This is one of my favorites!

This was our place of choice for our anniversary in March, and it was delicious! I cannot say a bad thing about the food, the service, the wine, the dessert. It was spot on. We had help from one of the sister's who run the restaurant pairing our wine, she helped me find something just my side of dry. The escargot of course I had an order it's my favorite thing to eat! I choose the salmon, while he had the duck and both were equally as tasty. Definitely a place to try.

Made last minute birthday reservations for two - myself and my college roomate. We had so much fun - We spoke French when we could and it was greeted with polite nods and no pretention. The portions were huge. We ordered the escargo and the steak tartar for appetizers and had plenty of fresh bread to soak up every morsel. As entrees we closed the menu and ordered one each of the specials. Mussels Marinara and baked chicken :) More bread was needed to apreciate ever drop of the Marinara. The wine list was, of course, wonderful and the service was attentive and not rushed in any way. Leave room for the Creme Bruele! Go to enjoy a meal and an experience, not grab a bite.

Sisters Aline and Cathy (pronounced "cat-TAY") serve up authentic French cuisine at this charming bistro in Sandy Springs. Whether you're there for lunch or dinner, be prepared to enjoy European-style dining. The food is cooked to order, and it's expected you will sit and linger over a glass (or two) of wine. If you're in a hurry, get take out. I'm a fan of both their charcuterie plate and the house made foie gras. It's an excellent way to start off a meal at La Petite. For lunch, the mixed salad and a plate of linguini pistou hit all the right spots. The croque monsieur is also well done. At dinner, splurge a little. Order a nice bottle of wine, sit back, relax and let the friendly and efficient staff do their thing. If you're not opposed to veal, the veal normande is divine. The steaks are cooked to order and nicely seasoned with truffle butter, bearnaise, roquefort cheese, or pepper cream sauce. I'm partial to the moules nicoises (mussles in a tomato-basil garlic sauce) but they also offer moules poulette (white wine cream sauce) if you're so inclined. Sides of expertly cooked ratatouille and pomme frites are good sides to round out your meal. Bon appetit!

The atmosphere was heavy and my grouper dry. My daughter ordered medium rare steak and it came well done. Service was well intentioned and warm but overwhelmed and slow.

First to upload pictures for this cute little french restaurant! Feeling like a good Samaritan... OK, I'll stop with the tooting of my own horn. Christmas dinner...another spontaneous pick thanks to Open Table RSVP system. I was surprised at how many restaurants were open on Christmas night! I was feeling like eating some french food... felt for something fancy smancy on this special day...after a day of relaxation (aka laziness) with my sister. We skipped the apps eventhough it's my favorite b/c I wanted limit my food intake. My sister ordered the foie gras platter which she LOVED. I ordered the filet mignon rossini... cooked to my liking - medium rare...with a little foie gras on top! It was buttering and melted in your mouth! YUM. The flavors were amazing...but something about it lacked in presentation... but flavor matters the most! For dessert ~ my sister picked the Pistachio Creme Brulee. I'm not big on ordering Creme Brulee in restaurants bc I can make my own, but hey it's what my sister wanted. The top was more burnt than desired but again my sister likes it that way so she was a happy camper! :) Over dinner was superb with nice service, cozy ambiance, and good food. It's a good place for special occasion as it can get very pricey! Merry Christmas everyone & good eats for everyone! Cheers!

Had a nice dinner here. The environment here is very cozy and inviting. This is an ideal location for a romantic evening. The service here is really great as well-- attentive, friendly, and helpful. To me, the food was generally good, but not particularly remarkable. We had the goat cheese, duck proscuitto, and pear salad. It was good, but I didn't think it was as flavorful as it could have been given the bold ingredients. I had the foie gras dish as my entree. Again, good but not nearly as memorable as some of the other foie gras I've had around town. I tasted the duck dish and to me it was overcooked. Pretty reasonably priced. Generally solid, but not amazing food.

Tried this place after being disappointed at Bistro Nikko in Buckhead and undwerwhelmed by Anis. The location is suspect to say the least but once inside you forget all that. The food is gooooood...The Trout Almondine was perfection, the wine list good, the portions obscene and the service attentive. Best French restaurant (that I know of) in Atlanta.

I loved the food and the atmosphere. The food was delicious and decadent. I love a good croquet monsieur and this one was one of the best I've had. The béchamel was incredible. The decor evokes flavors of France and reminds me of a traditional French café. I especially appreciated the art which appears to be by local artists provided by the local arts society. The wait staff was very friendly and attentive and made sure I was taken care of. It was a very enjoyable lunch.

The food is not great and it is a way too expensive! I had the mussels in white wine sauce. They were ok, but nothing special. I tried the duck and it was not good at all and everything missed salt. The service was really slow, we waited one hour and 10 minutes! The only good thing has been the creme brule.

Went here for the 1st time recently after reading so many wonderful reviews. It was very good in many ways. The atmosphere is charming and makes you feel as though you are really in a bistro in France - complete with french accents of the waiters. We enjoyed all that we ordered but be forewarned, this food is VERY rich. We had beef carpaccio and esgarots for appetizers. Then the steak au poive and 1/2 roasted duck for dinner. Everything tasted very good and cooked as ordered. My only complaint that the nice vegies served with the duck were totally drenched in the rich cointreau sauce that was for the meat - it would have pleased me more if the vegies were more plain. We had the creme brulee for dessert and did not find it overly scorched as mentioned by others. It wasn't the most perfect custard we've had for this dessert but it was good. We enjoyed this place alot and will come back again (after we exercise off the weight me gained eating all that rich and yummy food).

I enjoyed my meal here. Service was a little scatterbrained, but that was partially due to our large party. I felt bad for the waiter, who offered to breakdown our bill individually before any of us realized he had to do it by hand. I was tempted by a lot of dishes on the menu. Ultimately, my husband and I decided to go with the prix fixe menu because it was our first visit. I had the French onion soup, steak frites, and crème brulée. My husband had the beef carpaccio, gratinée of four cheese ravioli, and crème brulée. My onion soup was neither here nor there. It was decent, but not amazing. I tasted some of hubby's carpaccio and wished I'd ordered that instead. But I felt a beef appetizer and beef entrée would be overkill for me. My steak was delicious. It was cooked as I ordered it (medium) and the fries were crisp and delicious. I had a bite of my husband's ravioli and was pleased with that as well. The crème brulée was a little overcrisped, but I liked it well enough. I will definitely be back in the future to try some of their other menu offerings.

French food the way it should be served! My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful meal with another couple. We enjoyed a relaxing meal with friendly service and delicious food. The appetizers were a great start. I had escargot, I shared some of the Salade Landaise (salad with duck prosciutto, roasted apple, goat cheese and other goodies. Yum, that was awesome. This was a large salad - we should have shared it. I had Veal Scaloppini - tasty, but after sharing some of the New York Strip with Shallots and Red Wine sauce - I made the wrong choice. Steak was out of this world. We paired a nice Pinot with the meal. Good advice by the server) We shared several deserts as well. I enjoyed the Profiteroles and the creme brulee was great, but the best was the Tarte Tatin. The meal was pretty pricey, and don't bother going here if your in a hurry. But if you want a memorable meal, freshly prepared,

Went here with some 3 other co-workers. Out of the 4 of us, only one person had visited this restaurant. It was lunch time and the restaurant wasn't full so we were seated right away. It took a few minutes for us to get water and menus but we weren't bothered, especially when it was the owner who joyfully brought our menus and wine list. She was very sweet and gave us the specials and recommended the salmon. I had the Saumon Sauce Miel et Citron (Fresh grilled salmon with white honey and lemon sauce). It was served with green beans which were amazing, and french fries. The green beans and salmon were delisious. I thought the dish could have used a different starch. The portions were perfect sized, the wine was great, and overall, all four of enjoyed our experience there. I will be going back to try dinner there.

First time at this place. Decided to go for lunch. Immediately zoned in on two of the specials: 1. French onion soup (a good test gauge, right?) 2. Scallop citrus salad. Both were quite good, exactly the type of food I would expect. The service was wonderful, and I thought this was telling: An older woman, who appeared to be a regular, walked in. The owner recognized her and said hello. The older woman asked if she could buy some of the homemade pesto sauce. The owner did one better and gave her some. Now that's service! I will be back at some point to try dinner.

cool owners with french accents + carcuterie plate + vino = a nice dining experience This is going to be a to-the-point review. 1) sit inside... Roswell Rd. isn't great scenery 2) order what the ladies who run the place recommends....DO NOT get the foie gras if you've never had it. Now is not the time to experiment... 3) definitely get a dessert, any dessert. split it with your dining companions. 4) the ladies that run the place, I believe they're sisters, they are very very charming. Talk to them.... Pricing can be what you make it. Wifey and I had apps, wine, entrees, and dessert for 93 bucks. I would go back....

The food here is excellent. I was here for the first time on Valentines day and again for my birthday. Both times I had the swordfish (maybe next time I will try something new!) but it was delicious both times so it's hard to try something else! Along with the french onion soup which was also delicious. I also love the atmosphere of this restaurant, cozy and romantic and seems family run which is nice. I would highly suggest sitting on the patio however, as we were first put at an inside table for my birthday, about 3 feet from the table next to us and it was VERY loud inside! Nothing like the first time we sat outside on the patio (luckily, we asked to sit outside and they accommodated us to a nice, quiet table outside. The only reason I can't give 5 stars is because of the service. It seemed a bit rushed, even though I know they weren't rushing us, but the woman taking our order started with "ok, what do you want" which seemed a bit brusque and she was constantly running around it took away from the atmosphere a little bit. Regardless, I will be back!

You can check my Yelp history, I rarely five-star any restaurant, but this little gem is an exception. My lovely bride and I shared a bottle of Grenache and a platter of various appetizers, with grilled peppers and eggplant topped with pesto, penne pasta, goat cheese, ratatouille, and toasted French bread with olive tapenade. It was a sterling beginning. I ordered the sliced duck breast and my bride had the Coquilles St. Jacques. Both were quickly devoured. No room for dessert, but the cappuccinos were delicious. We absolutely loved the warm atmosphere and personal service, and we shall return very soon.

Food was very good and service excellent. Charcuterie plate was generous with excellent meats. Chicken was perfectly cooked although sauce was a bit salty for me. Potato puree (mashed) was not good - mealy and bland but au gratin potatoes were very tasty. Ambiance was sort of continental and not ostentatious.

The food was delicious. I had the duck and it was absolutely fantastic. 5 stars for food, 5 stars for service and 3 stars for decor. It was a bit old school, but some might consider it part of the charm.

Been here twice and have not been disappointed. They make the perfect duck , I don't even really like duck, But I love the Demi Canard roti à la Parisienne. It is just roasted to perfection. Lightly sweet and crisp. (dear me I'm salivating) I fell in love at first bite. I would have to agree with another reviewer about the foie gras. It's served a little "different" from how I've ever had it. We were expecting something like pan seared pieces or a pate' spread. Rather, it was served cold as large chunks in solidified butter/bile. It wasn't bad - just unexpected. If anything, you cannot leave this bistro without ordering dessert. So rich, decadent, and YUM! Prices are a bit high, but portions are large. The atmosphere is cozy, quaint, and rustic. I would definitely recommend this establishment to anyone looking for good French cuisine. The next time I go, I am contemplating scallops and the pistachio creme brulee. I am anxious!

Even though I'm giving it four stars this place is definitely worth your money. I'm not giving LPM five stars because it's not _the best_ french restaurant I've had, but it's darn good. Visit One: My party of 3 was seated immediately; on a weeknight La Petite isn't crowded. The staff was quick, attentive, and friendly. Started with olive tepanade, delicious pitted black olives, and very nice baguettes. Crusty on the outside and just the right chewy-fluffy ratio on the inside. The olive oil and balsamic vinaigrette was great for dipping. My party of three and I shared the Salad Verdi (mozzarella, tomatoes, pesto, refreshing leafy greens, various dressings that paired nicely with all the dressings) and it was delicious!! After splitting into three, the portions were starter salad sized. I got the tuna steak cooked medium rare but next time I will definitely be getting rare because the medium rare is too cooked (not tough, I just prefer more raw) on the periphery. The central parts were red and melted like butter :) . The sauce was brown and creamy but surprisingly not heavy, which complemented the butteriness just right. The portions are very generous and the only reason you will feel heavy is because you ate so much! The mousse is kinda hard, but it's very chocolatey. I wouldn't get it again. Visit Two: My sister and I shared the Salad Chez Nous and the Salmon with haricot vert (french green beans) and buttery rice. Salad Chez Nous: dark greens and light greens underneath generous portions of smoked salmon topped with three triangles of toasted bread, which were each topped with a thick, short cylinder of toasted goat cheese. The edge of the plate was lined with fresh tomato wedges and a shot glass of freshly whipped unsweetened cream, which I didn't really like but it didn't detract from the salad at all. This salad is comparable to lox b/c of the carb + dairy + smoked salmon, and is VERY filling and delicious. Great for an early summer dinner. Salmon: If you agree that it's hard to find a tenderly cooked salmon, you will greatly appreciate this dish. It's one of the cheaper seafood dishes, but the flavor is wonderful and the texture exquisite: the salmon just flakes apart and you need only the softest motion to masticate. The rice is cooked with butter (thought not oily) and surprisingly, one of the highlights of the dish is the roasted tomatoes in the green beans. Definitely some of the most flavorful roasted tomato wedges I have ever had. I wouldn't mind if this was the most flavorful roasted tomato I ever had. Again, we left full full full and satisfied. :)

My friend happened to be hungry and drove pass this restaurant only to bust a U-turn. Her tummy filled with curiosities, unproper attire and unaware that it was the best finding of French good eats. Words about good food spread like wild fires. Her description of the mouth-watering foie gras and fig chutney has me yelped for joy so I had to see for myself. Well, on a Tuesday evening, after a day full of unncessary shopping spree (of all the time to be doing this)... we were hungry and we knew exactly where to go. I was in love with this darling little place, they had an awning for patio seatings, which were more casual than inside. The inside were a bit too romantic because of the dim lights and cozy chairs. We ordered the Foie Gras platter with a dallop of onion relish, mango sorbet, fig chutney, fig slices and a whopping size foie gras pate in the center and toasts. My friend ordered the crunchy fried goat cheese with duck prosciutto over a bed of fancy salads. Ok, I don't eat pork but I love proscriutto and I, again, yelped because it was DUCK prosciutto. For the main course, we both ordered steaks and mine just melts in my mouth. My steak was medium rare so it was very tender and juicy and the flavoring was absolutely divine. I usually don't order french frieds anywhere - unless it's from McDonald's or sweet potatoes since I'm addicted to those. But I had to have me some pomme frites(french fries) at this place. It is now my 2nd place to have french fries. Everything was divine. The service was great and very prompt. Their portions are very generous. The thing about French food from my personal experiences is that it doesn't leave you all greasy and groggy feeling. It's a good kind of fullness that leaves you room for coffee and desserts. Obviously, that's why the french people stay so slim. I love the atmosphere, very semi-romantic outside, quiet and sweet. It's not located in buckhead where everything just feels so rushed. Great date place.

Had my second dinning experience at La Petite Maison on Christmas night and it was great! I had been for lunch a few months back and thought they had a good menu and that the food and prices were really fair. I was excited to see they were going to be open on Christmas and that they had reservations available on such short notice. I have struggled with good French food here in ATL, so I am so happy to finally find a place that has what I am looking for. Great food, good service, cozy ambuanice and reasonable prices. I know I will be back soon!

A sage friend suggested frog's legs and Chenin Blanc (and by that I mean Savennieres and Jasnieres) this evening and there's only one place to get garlicky, lovey, fried amphibian gammes - Petite Maison! Great dinner. Chocolate Creme Brulee was excellent too.

Went here for date night with my baby! I will have to say it is a very nice place for a date, cozy, you can snuggle up, good lighting, good atmosphere. The service was really good too even though they were busy. The food here was good but not amazing, and we are probably a little spoiled by amazing food. First they brought a bread basket which was really good because it had olive spread which I love so no arguments there. Next, we ordered the salade landaise as an appetizer. This was also very good although not spectacular. It had goat cheese, duck proscuitto, and pear in it. The cherry tomatoes were great, so was the proscuitto and pear, but the goat cheese was just pretty good and its supposed to be the star of the salad I felt. As an entree I had the demi canard, and my gentleman caller had the foie gras. I loved the spinach and green beans, the potatoes were amazing in the sauce, but my duck was dryer than it should have been I felt. My man's dish was good, but as I said we're spoiled and it can't compete with some of the other foie gras we've had in Atlanta. That said, it was a good experience overall and I would come back here and give some other dishes because I really liked the place so much. The service is super and not snobby at all; most places we go they look at us like we are crazy since we don't order alcohol ever; since we are on the sober wagon, but our server here didn't give us "the look". He was great. So cozy and cute.

I love their bread! It is so good!! It reminds me of how the bread should be, always!!! The olives they bring with the bread?? Delicious... I've been twice, i like the food there... i got frog legs last time and they were really good!! Desserts are awesome! One dessert costs 10$, but it is huge (for 2 people) and delicious. It is not a cheap restaurant for sure.... but you get what you are paying for. Worth it!

The food, while a little pricey, was very good. I had the duck. However, the service was incredibly slow. From start to finish, we were there for 3-hours. There was a looooong gap between appetizers and the main course. And, the bad part was there was no explanation and no offer of a "free" dessert or some compensation for the horrible service. There was obviously something wrong in the kitchen, but no one took the time to tell us. Yeah, we'll go back, but there better not be a repeat performance.

If this was just based on food, it would be 4-1/2 stars. But the service was 1 star. So overall going with 2 stars. We'll go with the bad news first. We sat for long - and I mean long - periods of time where we didn't get any attention. It probably didn't help that our waitress didn't seem to want to be there. She spent way too much time in long, involved chats with tables. I wouldn't mind if she could still get her job done. But she couldn't. Some of the many examples of poor service include taking two tries to try and bring us our wine selection - ultimately we gave up and just took what we could get. (The first bottle came pre-opened - unacceptable for a restaurant of this level.) Our waters sat empty most of the night. Plates would accumulate. The empty wine bottle sat for the entire meal. She blamed the slow service on the chef. In the end, we just sat with wallet on table, credit card in hand for a 1/2 hour just to get someone's attention to bring us the check. The meal took 2-3/4 hours - maybe they're trying to be a "really" French restaurant, but that's unreal. Now for the good. We had the Escalope de Veau à la Normande (veal scallopini with a mushroom cream sauce), but it was the potatoes that stole the plate - I can't recall what they were called, but it was like really rich scalloped potato and they were out-of-this world. We also had a veal special with was a lightly breaded cutlet with a lemon-caper sauce. It was also terrific. We finished with the chocolate mousse - probably the best we've ever had. Only miss in the food department was the French onion soup - just not that good.

Love this place.....Everyone here is French! I have eaten here many times and have had most of everything on the menu. I have been for lunch as well as for dinner. Great place to take guest too. Try this place you will be glad. The specials are always great too. A great find!

Cute restaurant. Good service. They need to work out a few issues with regard to their food. Most notably is their bread. To put it bluntly, their bread isn't French, and in general, it sucks. The stuff came straight from Kroger- Sub sandwich rolls, heated up so as to create a really thin crust. Really- 1 step up from a cottony hot dog roll. And, they served the crappy bread 3 different times during our meal. First, with some olives, second, in a basket with butter, and third, cut up into triangles for our salads. Other issue is their complete inability to use salt in their cooking. Even their french fries were unsalted. So too the salads and the steaks. Lastly, their Creme Brulee was pretty good. Their 3-course $30 meal is a pretty good value. Add in a couple glasses of wine and cups of coffee, and our tab for 2 was easily sub $100

They bring out some small toast with an olive tapenade and olives soaking in olive oil as well as a basket of bread. I had the Saumon Sauce Miel et Citron - Fresh grilled salmon served with honey lemon sauce and white rice. It comes with some julienned vegetables in an olive oil/garlic/pepper seasoning. C'est tres bon!

Good, not outstanding. Some of the menu is not very French, but it's still yummy. The desserts are big enough for two, FYI. Plenty of parking, but not very nice scenery outside. Servers are nice and bread is yummy. With 4 people having the $29 three-course special and two glasses of wine (total), bill was $145.

I recently had lunch here, and it was so much better than I expected. The place is located on a busy road, and it seems to almost blend in, but it has a very nice outdoor patio. The waitstaff appeared to also be the owners, which is the best because we got the best service! And, everyone was French, which made this an even more authentic experience! The lunch menu is a bit limited, but after much deliberation I got the ham and cheese sandwich topped with an egg. I didn't quite know what to expect, and when it came out the first thing I noticed was the presentation-- it was like i had ordered a $20 dish. I was very pleased! The sandwich was super tasty, and since the presentation was so exquisite, I didn't feel right eating with my hands so I ate my sandwich with a fork and knife-- yeah I probably looked weird. Be warned! This is not a good place for a quick bite, because when you see the presentation, it wouldn't be fair to plow through the food. It really is to be eaten slowly over a great conversation (but we managed to be in and out in an hour). In the end we ordered an espresso to top it off. I got all of this for $13. I think it was a great surprise and a very authentic experience. I will definitely like to go back for dinner and have a glass of wine!

Love this place! Went there twice because the first time it so good but most restaurants will let you down the next go around. But the Steak Frites was so flavorful and it was just as good the second go round. Pretty much everything I had there was delicious. It has a nice cozy atmosphere, excellent place for a date or romantic dinner. It's definitely on my list of repeat visits.

Have been to le petite many times and always loved it. The last two visits were simply stated, disappointing (service wise). I understand that it can get busy, which I would think, for a family run business, would be a good thing. However, on this last and final visit, I experienced a first time level of rudeness from the owner that shocked and overwhelmed me. My husband and I brought my mother in law and two daughters. We ordered drinks and an appetizer, which I understand slows things down, however our meal came one hour and thirty minutes after we walked in the door. I would suggest the rule of thumb at a savvy establishment to time the meal arrival minutes after the appetizer...not 30-45 minutes later. I'm fairly certain that's standard. When the owner sensed that we had enough waiting she looked at me unapologetically and simply told me they were busy. In fact, she looked at me like I had nerve to be bothered by the long delay. My children were asleep at the table and neither touched their meal. I left with one of my children to go to the car and mentioned something to one of the owners. They apparently don't accept or acknowledge constructive feedback. In fact the owner confronted my mother in law and husband who stayed behind to finish their meals and pay the bill, which by the way, she did not discount by one penny. I will never return here. Very rude owners and service. I would suggest that if they are that busy, they hire sufficient staff to handle it.

This restaurant may have had it high and when busy is certainly not very good,One Saturday evening we waited over 75 minutes for the main course. 2 half duck dishes were hard as a rock and awful. The french onion soup as a starter had to be sent back twice as it was served cold. The waiter apologized once, but the two female owners never took the time to come by and apologize. We felt that the price we paid was a gift, but will never go back. Maybe the restaurant should scale back the reservations on a busy night so that the kitchen can put out hot and fresh food.

This is a great spot for lunch. (I haven't tried it for dinner, so I can't share that experience). They have a great menu that's reasonably priced, and always have interesting specials. You don't need a reservation at lunch, and you can be in and out in under and hour with no trouble.

Really enjoyed the food and experience at La Petite Maison. A quaint establishment with a fresh menu. That evening they offered a prix fixe which was a very good deal with a number of diverse choices. The service was on point; wines selection was excellent as well. Looking forward to another visit soon.

Cheers!

The food was delicious. I had the duck and it was absolutely fantastic. 5 stars for food, 5 stars for service and 3 stars for decor. It was a bit old school, but some might consider it part of the charm.

cool owners with french accents + carcuterie plate + vino = a nice dining experience This is going to be a to-the-point review.

Worth it!

Recently had dinner at La Petite... the food was wonderful. I plan to return more often. I had the pepper tuna steak and the salad was super. My partner had the fish special sole I think. I tasted it and it was good too.
