We were actually headed to Fellinis right next door before remembering this was here andI was really excited about this place based on the reviews. When we pulled in at 7 p.m. on a Saturday, for a second I wondered if we would find a parking space. There were a few cars idling around, waiting, and then someone pulled out and we got lucky. It was a gorgeous spring night so we knew we wanted to sit on the patio. As we were walking up we saw two tables were open so we seated ourselves and waited for someone to come by our table. The place is laid out just like Fellinis, from the awning on the building to the inside decor - it's only the patio that's situated differently. They have a good menu: sandwiches, plates with a choice of meat, rice and beans, paellas, burritos, tacos, quesadillas... Everything was reasonably priced, too. For example, the seafood paella is $11.50 for one person, and less than $20 for two. Someone came to our table to give us some chips and salsa and the salsa is delicious. It was fresh and had a nice amount of cilantro. They give a small serving compared to most restaurants but they'll come back around and ask you if you want more. I was so glad I said yes the second time because they practically went out to the ocean to catch the seafood for my paella. Bottom line, for me, is this: You get what you pay for. The food was delicious but it wasn't the best I've h@JanelleHamrick: From my session on Friday. I loved this background! #atlantaphotographer #highschoolseniorad. It'll hit the spot, and that's fine, but... man, it's almost like settling. I read the rave reviews about this dish so imagine my surprise that I pretty much had to go deep-sea fishing into the dish to find the itty bitty scallops. The mussels and salmon and calamari were all delicious, and certainly not overcooked, but the meal lacked in the seafood in general. I had requested to add some chorizo to the mix and it seemed like I got more of that than anything else, but it was still pretty good food, and I'll probably go back, but I've had better. Other notes: My husband had a chorizo quesadilla and he said while it was good it felt like it needed something else (it comes with cheese and onions). He added up adding some of the chipotle sauce they had on the table. He had a nice size of beans and rice on the side, and that was standard in taste. His meal tasted like something I would make at home with simple food from the grocery store, so it was comforting, but it didn't wow me. And I guess that's what this place is: simple. The Texas margaritas we had were delicious. Basically you have a place to get some quick, tasty, cheap grub with a nice patio and awful customer service - if service is important to you, this may not be the place to go. Customer service left a lot to be desired. I mentioned it took a long time but from beginning to end it was cruddy. When we got there we walked in expecting to be seated by someone since it was our first time, and we kind of stood there looking around as employee after employee made eye contact and walked right by us. Finally we got someone's attention and learned we sat ourselves. Someone came by quickly with the chips and salsa but then it took forever to get a menu. Our waiter was abrasive and seemed rushed and hassled by us. When he poured our margaritas he practically threw gigantic splashes into the glasses before slamming them down and walking away. Some of my hair went gray while we waited for our meals and watched TWO groups who sat after us get their food. Maybe it was the paella that took a long time? When our table was cleared we continued the waiting game for our check. And we waited. And waited. Finally my husband got up to track down our server to get the bill, who seemed very annoyed with him. Sigh. Honestly, I'd have given 2.5 stars and that would be for the food only. There was nothing warm or inviting about this place and the food was pretty good but could be improved. Based on the reviews, I'm willing to go back and try the fish tacos or one of the sandwiches. I'll be sure to clear my schedule for the wait time next time, though... :-/

La Fonda is by no means an unknown restaurant in Atlanta. Nostalgically paired with Felini's pizza, this self proclaimed Latina restaurant chain has been in the focus of restaurateurs for years now. I've previously visited the location on Ponce and had a fantastic time. This review, however, is for the location on Roswell Rd. near Buckhead. Atmosphere: Not bad. It got a little loud but I attributed it to the tables around me engaged in jubilant discussion. As I've noticed with most "south of the boarder" restaurants the tables were set a little wider to accommodate a potential surplus in plates, however, this could cause a bit of a conversational gap if there's just two of you. Here's where things went down hill... Service was terrible. And I'm a big supporter of the serving profession, I know w/o them I wouldn't be able to eat. That being said, this guy sucked. Someone else took our drink order, he waited another 10 mins to walk by our table where we had to flag him down and ask to order. He then left, came back to confirm my order cause I guess he couldn't read what he wrote, I was sure this meant my order would be screwed up. However, it wasn't, bonus! The food was honestly just ok. They used store bough shredded cheese, 'mexican fiesta' style if my taste buds were on their game that day. The portion size was fine, I felt like it was worth the money. I got the beef burrito which came with rice and beans, no real complaint cause those are two rather bland side items anyway. It just felt like something was missing overall from the entrée. I would have rather eaten at Chipotle. I know this is a "one time visit" bias review but honestly I don't think I'll go back unless I'm with a group and the majority chooses to go there. But rest assured if I do return to this particular La Fonda I'll be keeping track of my experience and edit this review accordingly. Final thoughts: Go to Felini's instead.

Um, yum! I can't believe that I've lived close to La Fonda for three years now and I just went there for the first time last weekend. It's always busy, so parking is a p.i.t.a. I started with a horchata to drink (sweetened rice milk, cinnamon, and I don't know what else?) and it was so refreshing. I'm daydreaming about it right now, actually. For dinner, I had the paella con verduras, which was a delicious, filling mix of yellow rice, veggies, and a curry seasoning. The portion was big enough that I had leftovers for the next day. And the best part? My bill was under $10. The only thing that I didn't love was the service. There were plenty of servers on hand, but we had to get their attention to put in our order. And, our bill never came, so we just went to the register without one, which ended up being fine. I'll be back- I've got their sangria on my mind!

The food is always perfect. No matter what you order, it's 100% delicious. The salsa that comes with the complimentary chips is made from fresh ingredients and though a little mild (i always add a dash of habanero hot sauce) it's great! Everything is made to order, but it still comes out really quickly. The reason I didn't give it 5 stars is the service. You'll have at least 3 different people bringing you stuff while you're there, and because there are so many runners, your actual waiter won't spend much time with you. After you get your food, good luck flagging someone down for anything!

I give the food and atmosphere 5 stars, but the service is more like a 2 star.... The patio at La Fonda is a great place to grab a cold beer (or margarita) and catch-up with a friend! I went on Sunday after church and the place was packed. We tried sitting outside, but because of the heat moved inside. I think this is where we went wrong- as soon as we moved inside the servers completely ignored us! It took at least 10 mins. before we could put in our order, kind of a long time when there were at least 15ppl. working! The food was good- I had the Andes salad- iceberg lettuce, spinach, black beans, and ranch dressing- yum! Oh course I also had a whole basket of chips and salsa, the salsa is delicious and full of fresh veggies. I will be back!

La Fonda is good because of 3 things: 1. The patio is amazing. It just really has a good feel to it. 2. The margaritas are really good. 3. No matter what anybody writes on here it will still be packed. The parking situation looked a bit sketchy so I Just parked across the street in the strip mall parking lot! I kinda liked it. No valet in ATL! When I walked in there didn't really seem to be anybody really helping you get a table. It was first come first serve (Which I liked). So it was an adventure. If you are looking for spectacular service and attention then La Fonda isn't your spot. I grabbed a table on the patio for 6. There was 2 to start with and we had 4 more coming throughout the night. The waiters were very nice as we had taken one of their tables that they could be using to earn tips and were basically holding it (yes, I was that guy last night). We got a lot of dirty looks from patrons waiting in line, but it only added to the fun. I would say that the food was decent. I had a cuban sandwhich. The chips were so so. The margaritas were outstanding! Would I go back... Yes. Will there be a line everytime you go... Yes. Will parking be an issue... Just go, enjoy yourself, and don't worry about all that!

My guess is that it is a run-of-the-mill good anglo-latin food joint. The chips and salsa were tasty, nothing special but good. If you've been to a place with bad chips and/or salsa, it stands out. So the fact that it has this normal but good starter is a plus. The outdoor seating was nice, though it was dark out and therefore bearable. I wanted to try the paella but when I asked if the bottom was crispy, I was met with a puzzled look and a, "no!" My guess is that it was not paella, but that is just a guess. I went with the cuban sandwich instead, which came with rice and black beans and everything was very tasty. Again, I know it's just another americanized mexican restaurant, but it's good food and the prices are low.

I usually get the chicken tacos or burrito. I must say that my daughter likes this place better than I do. Everytime they put chips on the table I have to salt them or salt the salsa. The salsa is quite bland and honestly, when I get served chips and dip and they're not so great...the rest of the meal is not so great either. Also, my daughter and I had their water...EWW! It's obviously not filtered cuz you can taste the chemicals. The sweet tea...yuck! Well...it was made with the nasty water. We both had to opt for Sprites.

I LOVE LA FONDA! Laid back and casual.. I've eaten there a handful of times. No, it's not fancy or pretty or spotless (chips are crunchy and crumbly and messy!) but it's great food, good prices and a quick in-and-out. Most, if not all, of the times I've been there, it has been with 2 little ladies I babysit - ages 2 and 4. If you didn't know, it is NOT easy to take a 2 year old and a 4 year old out to eat, by yourself. However, going to La Fonda lowers the stress level a little because they are so accommodating. They don't mind the kids and work with me a little. I've had the roasted chicken +black beans and rice, chicken quesadilla and the chicken soup (what? I like chicken) and they are all awesome. Plus, the queso is great for kids and wimps like me since it's not spicy. I've always been very happy with La Fonda.

Very good Mexican food - 2nd to Nuevo Laredo, which is my fave, so that's why only 4 stars. Went here on New Year's Day and the salsa was very tasty and fresh. I had the fish tacos and they are so far the best I've ever had in Atl. Before La F this Sunday, Taqueria di Sol served my favorite fish tacos. Would def go here again.

Best Latin/Mexican restaurant in Atlanta for the price. I have been going to La Fonda on Roswell Road for years. Amazing food and service. Their salsa is the best I've ever had. Their other locations are just as good.

I love la Fonda. It's always good. I usually get a sandwich like the reuben cubano or the bocadillo vegetariano, but between my fiancé and I, we've tried most of the menu. He loves the fish tacos or burrito, but I think they are too spicy. The paella is quite delicious. The drinks are good- not great- and the salsa is very fresh! Parking sucks majorly. Do not park in the shopping center across the street... They WILL tow you... but we have found many "secret spots" throughout the parking lot... the patio is great when the weathers nice!!!

This place seems to always be busy. The food is mediocre at best, but for some reason, I keep coming back. Let me layout the situation: Service - slow and rude (75% of the time) Food - medium (at best, but Megan would argue its awesome) Drinks - really good standard margarita Parking - worst in the world Price - medium (should be cheaper, but not outrageous) Will I return - Yes With options like Taxco (cheaper and friendlier) and Twisted Taco (better parking, lesser quality food), I hope to start venturing AWAY from La Fonda, but until then, I will chow down on some beef tacos.

Probably my favorite place to eat in Atlanta. I've been so many times, I've probably had everything on the menu, but it is super hard to resist the paella, and I usually end up ordering that and tasting everyone else's stuff. I've also been to every location, and love them all. I used to live about a mile from the Roswell Rd location, which was dangerous, so I've probably been there most often. The place has a great vibe, and fantastic food. In addition to the paella (best I've had outside of Europe) I would recommend the Arroz con Pollo, the Quesadilla con espinaca y Camarones, and the brunch.

I have been eating at La Fonda for 3 years now every so often and I feel the quality of... well everything about the place has gone progressively downhill. I'll start by saying I think paella is an art and La Fonda used to be a virtuoso. I loved sitting outside on warm nights with friends sipping mojitos and margaritas eating coastal Latino cuisine. La Fonda was an experience. The last three times I have visited (over a span of several months) the restaurant has been dirty, the service poor, and the food below average. We waited for our bill for over 20 minutes during our last visit. The once inspiring paella has been a mess (the seafood has been rubbery, the rice less than fluffy, and the chicken flavorless) and everything else is just lackluster. The cocktails are still alright, but I'd trade them in a heartbeat for good food and service. La Fonda used to be a good spot and a nice hangout. I won't be going back.

La Fonda is the only place in Atlanta I go for Paella. I frequent this location as the service is a lot better than the rest. They have a very small kitchen area but the food comes out very quickly. I highly recommend the traditional Paella and the grilled fish salad. It does get very busy on weekends so avoid rush hours if you can.

Fast service. Simple food. Tastes good. For me, the open air feel on a sunny and warm day makes the experience even better. However, there is a caveat. As an example, yesterday was one of those days where EVERYBODY was filing into the restaurant without letup. It took about 20 minutes for our party of 8 to get a table. Thankfully, everyone from the servers to the other people in line scoping tables were all civilized and mannerly. People were just lazing in the sun and taking their time socializing. I'd describe the whole scene as organized chaos. We got our food relatively fast. All the while we were waiting and then eating, there were on average 15 people waiting to get seated. This is a very popular place! I got the roast pork with mango salad. Tasty. The horchata was also good but grainy. It should be smooth. Others got fish tacos and they looked messy, but good. No one ordered the paella, but they are really good (based on other visits). I've always eaten at this place in a group. Left up to my husband and me, La Fonda is never on our list of choices. Not sure why.

This warm, casual place has good food, a little different from every other Latin place. Went there with a BIG party and they took great care of us. Even little things like black beans and rice are a cut above... Nice! Like the angular roof, an odd homage to the sixties?

attn fonda fans: neither bridgette, peter, henry nor jane were anywhere to be found. i ordered a pina colada and drank it as fast as i could to get as drunk as i could as fast as i could on one drink. i ate the guacamole and tried not to make comparisons to other guacamole. what does "fonda" mean in spanish? my online data translator operations program suspiciously says "boardinghouse". i don't get it. what does this have to do with on golden pond?

My family went to La Fonda for the first time yesterday. We're originally from Florida, so we are very familiar with Cuban food, and just moved from San Diego, so that covers Mexican food. I was really intrigued to see that the menu encompasses a bunch of Latin American favorites. The wife and I had the Cuban sandwich, which, outside of Florida, nearly impossible to get right for one simple reason: the bread. The La Fonda Cuban Sandwich is served on what seems to be a flaky sub roll. The traditional Cuban is served on Cuban bread which is very close to a french baguette in texture, but is split on the top, and is usually baked with a palm frond on it to give it texture and bit of flavor. Sadly, this sandwich is not up to our standards, but to their defense, we kinda knew that going in. Its probably not that easy to find Cuban bread in Atlanta. Aside from the bread, the meat was good, but it could use a bit more sauce on the sandwich. Our other dishes were great. We had the fried plantains which were a treat. My daughter had the Kids Quesadilla, which came with rice and beans. She also ordered the guacamole, which was freshly made and very tasy. At almost 3 years old, she not only has a passion for guac, she will attempt to order it in every restaurant we go to. Their chips and salsa were great, they refilled it with out asking, and the beans and rice were pretty good too. The service was great, and we got a good value for what we paid. We will go back, and certainly find something else on the menu that will become our go-to favorite.

I'd never been to La Fonda in 10 years in Atlanta, but we were seeking paella and went to give it a try here. I thought everything about our dinner here was very good from start to finish. Other reviews have complaints about parking--that was not an issue for us. We got seated promptly, though a line started to form soon after we were seated. Our paella was tasty, and so many other menu items look good for a future visit. We were really looking for paella at my wife's behest, and to her, it probably rated a 3-star, though her benchmark is the paella at (now closed) Cuerno. For me, though, we had a pleasant dinner, the restaurant had some energy and character, and the portions were substantial and an overall good value. Paella for two and one salad came to $24 with tax, before tip.

Met up with my boyfriend and his golfing partner here after a particularly hot Atlanta day for some dinner. Parking lot was PACKED but we finally found spots. Got to sit on the patio, nice table for people watching, kind of cramped/close to others but I guess that's just the scene. I was happy to find decently priced paella on the menu and happy that it turned out decently good! I'm not too often in this neighborhood but I have a soft spot for Roswell Road from when I first started hanging out in Atlanta (driving in from Charlotte to hang out with friends on weekends), so La Fonda gets a bonus star in my book.

Service was excellent in that they checked on us without being pesty. We were doing a lot of talking and not in a rush to order after we got our salsa, guacamole and cheese dip. The mojotos were amazing along with my shrimp quesadillas. Excellent first visit. Can't wait to go back!

It just doesn't get any better than La Fonda Latina. There are several around with the same menu and same good food. The one I frequent the most is on Roswell Road. I have never had a bad meal and I've tried at least half the items on the menu. Let me begin with the only frustrating thing about the place. They will not split checks under any circumstance. It is inconvenient. It frustrates me. It pisses me off. Under normal circumstances, I would not go back for this reason alone. But their food is so good, in this case, I make an exception ... over and over again. Their margaritas are the best I've had in the city. For frequent guests, they tend to be a little stronger (smile!!). Their salsa is not hot with peppers, but has great flavor. They will provide hot sauce for you to spice it up. There are great salads ... grilled chicken (or pork) & mango ... Andes salad with spinach, chicken, & cilantro (my personal favorite). The dressings are tasty. You've got to try the artichoke dip. It is fantastic. The paella is the best, with several options to choose from. I can't eat it all. It could easily be shared. The chicken with rice is also yummy. The chicken is so tender, it just melts in your mouth. I enjoy their sandwiches too (all of them come with black beans and rice. The traditional ham/pork Cuban sandwich is good, but tends to be a little dry so ask for extra sauce or mustard. They have a Cuban reuben made with chicken. It's great. You won't be disappointed. Their steak sandwich is also a good choice. It has great flavor. My favorite sandwich is the chorizo sausage and peppers. You will lick your lips. They also serve great quesadillas. The chicken or steak will make you happy, but I love the black bean or shrimp/spinach or chorizo. They are the best. You will not be disappointed. I'm not a big fan of the burritos, but the tacos and enchiladas are great. The beef tacos will leave you wanting more, but the fish tacos (I recommend the tilapia over the salmon) will leave you begging for more. Best fish tacos in this city. The beef enchiladas are unlike any I've ever had. Even my vegetarian friends enjoy it. There are several vegetarian items ... veggie paella (even I like it), salads, veggie sandwich, black beans and rice. There are mexican/cuban restaurants all over this city. This is unlike any of them. The food is full of flavor. Nothing tastes bland. Nothing tastes like the mexican restaurant next door. Go. Try several different items. Form your own opinion. Then let me know if you don't agree La Fonda is Top Ten.

Good food, but service is almost always below average. I always wonder if they re-use leftover chips and salsa from the tables, but I still go every few months anyway. Parking is awful.

Yummy yummy! I loved La Fonda and I can't wait to go back and try more! Everything we ordered was delicious, the cuban sandwiches are soo good and I loved my beef enchiladas. We didn't have any trouble parking in the lot, although it is small so I guess I understand why everyone else is complaining. I think next time I will try the paella!

I live in Chicago now, but La Fonda is one of the very few MUST STOPS whenever I come home to visit Atlanta-- and my visit last weekend didn't disappoint. I have been coming to this location for as long as I can remember-- does anyone else remember the grimy fountain and bead curtains in the windows??? At this point, I've tried everything on the menu, though I come back to the Ensalada Pescadero, the Paella del Mar, the Quesadilla with maize y jalepeno, and the fish tacos over and over again. La Fonda has my very favorite salsa of all time, and every time I go with my family we have to stop ourselves from binging on chips and queso before our food arrives. The service is always super fast and they totally indulge our salsa addiction with copious refills. This place is also great for take out-- between eat in and take out, I'd say I ate there probably once a week when I used to live in Atlanta!!

If you're a Tech student, Tech alum, Tech faculty member, or just in any way, shape, or form affiliated with Tech, you, by default, already love La Fonda. Seriously. More serious diners may balk at the small space, the loud crowds, the less than pandering service, but it is for sure a fun place with good food. During my college years, I frequented the location off of Ponce, but this one off of Roswell Rd is one of my faves as it just looks so much nicer from the outside. La Fonda is my absolute favorite place for paella, fish tacos, and margaritas. I mean, it may not be the most authentic or the absolute best, but hey, it's good with those drinks. And hey, it's not expensive, so that's a plus too. Parking is a beeyotch though. And if it's packed, be expected to wait for a while.

The parking here was pretty much the biggest and only big downfall. It was nearly a nightmare. The wait wasn't long for is. Maybe 5-10 minutes, but after we were seated, I saw a LONG line forming. I got some kind of chicken (I think it was pollo a la parilla?). I forget the name but it was on the upper right hand corner of the menu under Cuban specialties. It was excellent. The chicken was well marinated and the rice was very tasty. I actually wished I got more rice! Anyway, it is so far on my top 5 Mexican restaurant list near the buckhead area. Another person in my party got the spinach mushroom and onion quesodilla and raved how delicious it was. A definite "a" in my book!

Their mojitos are fantastic and margaritas also good. They have a mix of cuban (sandwiches), Spanish (paella), and Mexican (tacos, burritos, enchiladas) food. I believe La Fonda means inexpensive eatery in espanol. For me, this a good place to grab a mojito pitcher on a weekend night and chat with friends. It gets pretty loud and it is self-seating...so more on the informal side. I would give them more stars, but they have sometimes been inconsistent with the food quality.

La La La LOVE La Fonda! I've tried everything from paella to the cuban sandwich and I must say it is all tasty. However after trying the tilapia fish tacos I can't seem to order anything else. They are amazing! This is a great place to grab a pitcher of ritas and some great food with friends or clients. I am forever a fan and visit often.

La Fonda is place I've been frequenting for about 7 years now. The menu has always been the same for the most part. The food has always been pretty good to me. It's our favorite queso dip in town & we've tried a lot. The service isn't always consistent. I've found myself on many occasions flagging down the waiter for more tea or nachos. The patio is awesome in the spring & even in the summer time to kick back with a margarita or a Tecate & chill with friends. The parking around the place is a pain in the kiester however since it shares the lot with Fellini's. However the BIGGEST set back... all the suburbanite families around Chastain bring their children here and the place becomes one clown short of a 3 ring circus. Throughout the winter we've been doing pick up orders only for this reason. The place becomes riddled with disorder and a lot of noise... it's much more tolerable when you're sitting outside chilling in the sunshine...w/ a drink in your hand or course!

Chicken enchiladas dry (skimpy on cheese), queso dip is like melted Velveeta, Quesadillas con Chorizo aren't mexican chorizo (some gross spanish sausage, yuk). But, the black beans were well seasoned and tasty. Should've got the tacos. Mediocre, not terrible.

Received a follow up from Mr. Frank (Operations Manager) today. Let me assure you that the level of time and attention that he spent on this issue has been astounding. I think that it speaks volumes as to the integrity and concern that he has placed on resolving this issue. I can assure you that we will be keeping La Fonda on our dining rotation and that we will give them another chance. Thank You

The food here is pretty good, and a bit better than your run-of-the-mill Mexican restaurant. Nothing spectacular though. On my most recent visit, I cam in a party of four. The place was packed and we got the only table available... like 3 steps away from the bathroom. I'm guessing they started cramming seating inside like that because it was too cold to sit on the patio. Most of the other parties that showed up after us had to wait a pretty long time. The place was really understaffed. We waited for about 10 minutes, before I had to go get a server to come to our table. They were all working really hard though, so I'm guessing someone decided not to show up to work that day. The chips and salsa were pretty delicious. The salsa is great, something about it that makes it taste better than your normal restaurant salsa. I ordered the fish tacos. They were scrumptious, but the beans and rice were ehhhh. I've never even eaten the side of beans and rice that always comes with Mexican entrees, so I wasn't counting on them to be great. My amigos also had margaritas and a milky drink thing that I'd never heard of that turned out to be quite good. All in all, pretty good food (A LOT, get a to-go box). Slow service. Obviously a popular place.

La Fonda's Sopa De Pollo (a.k.a. Chicken Soup) is one of my favorite comfort foods. Service here can be a hit or a miss, so when I'm craving a hearty Mexican meal I call in my order and in 10 minutes it's waiting for me to pick up. On my most recent visit, I didn't get the usual topping of avocado but I can't imagine that keeping well in a Styrofoam container filled with hot soup. The girl working the register was kind enough to stock me up with complimentary salsa. For $5 (including tax & tip) I got a big ole thing of chicken & rice soup, plus chips & salsa. Now that's a meal that's good for the belly, soul...and budget friendly.

This place is always packed at lunch!! The food is good but the TERRIBLE customer service is completely ridiculous. I had lunch here with my son and he's 1. Of course kids are messy eaters at times but I pick up after him. Every time he dropped some food on the table the lady would come over and move all our food to wipe it up rudely. She took my food before I was finished eating!! I yelled at her to bring it back! I asked for a to go box and she dropped it on the floor, picked it up and tried to give it to me. I said, "Excuse me... I would like a different box please." She rolled her eyes and walked away. Every one who works there seems to hate their job.. How about find a staff to at least please your customers?

I've been going to Felinis my whole life but just discovered La Fonda about a year ago. I went to the one in Midtown quite a few times but I had my first experience at the Buckhead location last weekend. The atmosphere outside was great since the patio is connected to the outdoor seating area at Felinis. Our server was incredibly nice and very attentive. The sangria is good and the chips and salsa are amazing. The guacamole had a good flavor but it was too chunky and my chips kept breaking trying to get it out of the bowl. My favorite thing on the menu is probably the grilled chicken which comes with rice and beans. All in all the amount of food you get for the price is awesome. I definitely recommend La Fonda to my friends and will be returning myself soon I'm sure!

I absolutely LOVE La Fonda! The food is a great value and I really enjoy the outdoor seating. It is a treat to go to. The paella is delicious and so are the enchiladas. Chips and salsa are complimentary and delicious. A great place!

If you are willing to trade good food for terrible customer service... My friend two young toddlers came there at 11:45 and asked if we could sit on the patio before they opened they were so rude. The manager acts like he could care less if you are there and they are doing you a favor. We must of waited an hour before our food came. They give you tiny bowels of chips and then act annoyed if you want more while you wait an hour. The entire wait staff looks miserable probably bc of the manager.. When my quesadilla finally came it tasted good but that at that point I was so filled up on chips and my child could not wait any longer we had to leave and I couldn't enjoy my food.

i love this place. i've been to many mexican restaurants and have found none with salsa this good. my only complaint is they are SO DANG BUSY and seating is seat yourself. now look, i've tried a few things here and there but always gravitate back to the usual -- salmon tacos. the salmon... the cabbage... and that jalapeno sauce thing... perfect. you can get in and out of here for less than $10 on something like that. i usually go for the 2 taco order since i stuff myself with those chips and salsa. next time i go, i'm finishing it off with horchata. it's settled.

If I had to give this review a title, it would be "They're phoning it in." I've dined here before and enjoyed it very much. This time, meh. The Latino sandwich was slapped together like it was an afterthought. The meat looked and tasted like it came out of a wrapper that said Oscar Mayer. Also ordered fried plantains. Instead of being soft, moist and sweet, these were like hard and dry. We sent them back. Waiter never smiled the entire time. I won't be going back.

Great Cuban food is what you'll find at La Fonda! I've been here dozens of times, and will admit I've only had two items on the menu but it's only because they are better than just about anywhere else we go. If you're in the mood for something on the lighter side, the fish tacos are outstanding. My preference is for the grilled tilapia but they also offer salmon which is nice. The tacos are a manageable size and you get the right amount of rice and beans to go along with it. If you need a little more sustenance then you can't go wrong with the paella. It has a nice variety of chicken, calamari, shrimp, chorizo and other goodies that make it hard to forget. Recently my wife has discovered the bocadillo latino cuban sandwich, and has quickly become her new favorite. While we wait on our food we have always ordered the queso dip with jalapeños which is great to munch on with the endless bowl of chips they provide. I also enjoy the fresh salsa they provide as well. Just watch out you don't spoil your apetite. The seating outside is great when the weather is nice, which is also when we typically find ourselves looking to make our over to this location. The service is always friendly, but has been a little slow on occasion. Finding a table outside on those nice days isn't a big issue but you might have to wait, unless you don't mind eating inside as it seems there is always seating inside if you are in a hurry. If you aren't in a hurry and want to enjoy some great food, La Fonda is a great choice that won't break the bank.

Not as good add the last time I was here. No roast pork on the Cuban sandwich. What is that about? The tostones were on the verge of being maduros. They do serve a mean mojito.

the food at la fonda is really good the only problem is the service which is mediocre at best but sometimes is just down right pathetic. The staff basically abandons you after serving your food, they don't ever bother coming back to check up on you

I'm in love. This place is just amazing. I would go here for just the drinks any time of day. The fish tacos are amazing and the guac and queso are to die for. It's always fresh and the staff is fine. Everybody is pretty laid back there so if you need something, just ask and somebody can help you. Understand that some of the people who work there do not speak English. I got a few blank stares before I realized this. I absolutelu love this place and I am so happy we have found it. Side note, I always go there alone with my infant and 2 year old. I go at odd hours and they are always very nice to me and my kiddos who are at times out of control.

I have no idea how this place has as many stars as it does. My boyfriend and I went on a Sunday, and we both got a quesadilla. I got chicken, he got shrimp. This is possibly the worst Mexican food I've ever had. The quesadilla so extremely dry, and had no flavor. I had to put salsa on mine to help with taste. Not to mention they didn't put enough meat or cheese in the quesadilla for anything! The thing that really ticked us off was what happened with our drink order. We both got sweet tea, and drank them pretty quickly, but we both noticed that it had a really nasty aftertaste. We got a refill to see if the next batch would be better, and it was ten times worse. It was so gross, so we both asked for a coke. The waiter brought back two cans of coke, and cups. When we got our check they charged us for to two teas, AND two cokes. Any restaurant I've ever been to, wont charge you for something that you didn't like. We went to the counter and they would absolutely not take the teas off! They were so rude, and would not budge. The cashier told us we should have told the waiter immediately that we didn't like the tea. So she made it our fault, which is a huge no no. The customer is always right. Needless to say I will never come back here! After over $30, extremely disgusting food, and crappy service it's a no brainer. I wouldn't advice anyone try this place.

I patron La Fonda often but this time it was horrible! I placed an order for to go. I ordered two ensalada con pollo and a cup of queso with jalapeños. The queso didn't have jalapeños and the chips were burnt. They were so burnt that when you opened the bag the smell of burnt chips reeked. It wasn't a huge deal but I called just to let them know and the response was very irate and rude. They told me they had been serving the same chips all day and that they couldn't do anything for me even though they hadn't gotten my order incorrect. So because of this I was unable to enjoy my queso and chips! I will never go to the Roswell rd location again. The manager is a jerk and rude.

  • John S.

First time here. The chips and salsa are excellent! Tastes really fresh and good. Gobbled down 2 plates/bowls. They messed up my mates tea refill. We got the paella del mar for 2. It was ok . . I guess I'm not a big fan of the yellow rice. Not the best paella I'd ever had, but -ok. Service was fair, but got the job done. Food came out really quick. A good place to sit out side and enjoy a cold one! Next time I'll try the fish tacos.

  • Keri M.

The service here is terrible. I was a server and I still bartend. I wouldn't usually complain about service but when ever server is sitting together at a table and we nothing to drink for 10+ mins, there is an issue. Food is decent for Cuban food. If you want Mexican, drive an extra 60 seconds and go to Tacos and Tequilas.

  • I. F.

The Paella del Mar was flavorful and fun. They play salsa music and there are a lot of adult beverages for customers to enjoy here--lots of margarita options. The food is good but the service was weird. After we got our food, no one ever checked on us. When we were finished, we asked two different servers to get our check, yet no one brought it. We asked in English and Spanish. Nope.

    (3)
  • Tom C.

You can never go wrong eating at La Fonda's. I normally come here to eat their different varieties of Paella but I discovered another love here. It is their salmon fish tacos. The main reason why I like it is because they use a sour cream jalapeno sauce and it goes so well with the fish, tomatoes and lettuce. Their sour cream jalapeno sauce is not even spicy. It is SO YUMMY! They give you a good enough portions of salmon as well. Another side I like about La Fonda's is that they serve food like a Chinese restaurant. Meaning, 5-10 minutes after ordering your food, your food comes out. I LOVE that! It's like that even when they are busy. How do they do that?

  • Alexander A.

I am a huge La Fonda fan and have been coming here for years and years, The food is always consistent and tasty. They have a great patio, full bar and it's kid friendly. So why only 3 stars? I have noticed the service has been going down hill over the last 6 months or so. I don't know if they are understaffed or what. I used to order right away and the food would come out really quickly. Now a days, it's difficult to track down a server to order, the food doesn't come out as quickly and it's not easy to get the check at the end of the meal.

Start with the delicious, fresh chips and amazing, fresh, pico de gallo-like salsa. Next, don't miss the Reuben Cubano. Ask for extra sauce. You'll thank me. It's the perfect combination of chicken, cuban coleslaw, cheese, and pickles, all in a perfectly-pressed sandwich. YUM. Bocadillo Latino is the best cuban sandwich in Atlanta. Delish (not as good as the Reuben Cubano in my opinion, but still a great choice). Quesadillas are all terrific. Chicken soup is awesome. Not what I typically order at a Latin restaurant, but trust me: really good stuff. Minus one star for so-so margaritas and *meh* paella. Stick to the good stuff and you'll love it. yelp.com/writeareview/bi…

Awesome seafood paella! I could eat their salsa all day! The guacamole could use a bit more lime and salt. Everything was great, but found a piece of glass in our paella pan. Otherwise, highly recommend this place!

I live down the street and today was only my second time dining here. I'd gone here before on a blind date (it was the only place still open after 10 pm on a workday) and...let's just say I have fond memories of delicious, juicy salsa, hot fried plantains and a yummy yummy frozen mango margarita. I was here earlier today for a long, early supper and again I enjoyed that salsa, a mango margarita and this time ordered the regular paella. Uh...yum. I'm eating the leftovers right now and I got some salsa to go. Delicious. The service is okay, servers and cashier are friendly enough. My friend's boyfriend loved the margarita and we all lover our paella. One thing: it's only Wednesday and I suppose I didn't realize, but by the time we left around 6:30ish, the place was packed. I didn't realize it gets this busy during the week, so maybe come a bit earlier in the evening if you don't feel like waiting for a seat.

The food here was quite delicious. The chips and salsa were fresh, and the veggie enchiladas were wonderful, and stuffed full of fresh grilled vegetables. The atmosphere was underwhelming, and the service adequate, but the inexpensive, tasty food is the main sell.

Overall good food. I tried Quesadillas, Reuben, and Paella. Quesadillas was fantastic. However, Paella was just average. That's why I deducted 1 star. Services were good and friendly, with attentive waiter.

we eat here once a week without fail. la fonda has consistently good food at a great price. why even go to another Mexican place? the salsa here it amazing. I eat two bowls just by myself. mojitos & margaritas are awesome too. an Atlanta favorite for casual Mexican/Cuban food.

I worked right around the corner from here and La Fonda was a lunch staple for me. The chips and salsa, yum, chunky and fresh...the fish tacos, yummy...but my absolute fav and most ordered dish, the paella del mar! SUPER YUMMY! I hear the cuban sandwiches are good but I never tried, I couldn't stay away from that darn paella! I like a little sriracha or hot sauce on mine...I know, weird but it works! Don't judge me...lol

I've been hearing great things about this place but never got a chance to check it out until Saturday night. I'm so glad that my friend Jon was able to introduce me to this location because it was awesome! I had the chicken cuban sandwich and the fact that the cheese is perfectly melted on the sandwich made a huge difference! The night we went, the restaurant was ridiculously busy so service was mediocre but I didn't expect much so all was good. Plus, my water glass was always filled and if you know me, I drink like a camel so that was a huge plus. I'd go back here again in a heartbeat. Yum!

Purdy durn good! i really liked the salsa - nice and thick with chunks of veggies. It seems like so many places have watery salsa these days, and I don't like it.... Thicker is always better! At a friend's recommendation I stayed simple and ordered the chicken tacos. I normally wouldn't have ordered so simple, but I trust the guy. What a pleasant surprise. A nice zesty white sauce, and the chicken itself was tender and tasty. Standard yellow rice and black beans, which were both good as well. This place isn't fancy, which I like. it has a homey fell and a bunch of smiling faces. I can't believe I've never been before, but I will be back!

3 stars: A-OK They have El Yucateco hot sauce. They do pseudo-Cuban/Mexican/Spanish food. It's a good spot. Everything is pretty decent. I've never had anything bad, and if it was, I didn't know it because I doused it in that el yucateco. I really enjoy the maduros and tostones. They also make a pretty mean chicken soup. Throw in some jalapenos and some hot sauce and get over whatever illness ails you. I think I only come here when I'm feeling under the weather, come to think of it.

Curious flavor combinations and bagged salad used as lettuce are the name of the game here, along with excellently prepared food at an excellent price. The decor is drab, the building being mostly outdoor seating, but the service is good. Chips and salsa are plentiful, but the salsa leaves a bit to be desired, being mostly watered down and too heavy on the tomatoes. The tacos are where it's at. The chicken and steak are prepared with care and taste great. The sauces and cheese that get combined on a tortilla with the excellent meat make the flavor truly pop. Add to this a margarita and you're in Mexican cuisine heaven. It should be noted that there are Cuban delights to be had here too. I haven't tried them myself but if others are to be believed, they stack up well against the tacos.

The guacamole and queso rock!! The entrees were good but tasted like they contained a lot of MSG... Tingling lips and tongue as well as headache. I could be wrong. I didn't ask. I'd prefer real food.

The hubs and I are going veggie for a bit and are constantly on the lookout for places that offer reasonable vegetarian fare. While La Fonda has mostly meat options, the grilled veggie kabobs were price-sensitive, delicious, and healthy to boot. Well, okay, I'm erasing the fact that I had beans and rice with them, but I FELT healthier. The chips and salsa were really fantastic. For me, the prerequisite necessity of a Mexican restaurant is free chips and salsa. If you don't have that, I'm not coming back. But the marker of a great Mexican restaurant is how well they do those two items - and La Fonda does them well. Definitely going back - can't believe it took me this long in the first place.

  • Melissa K.

LOVE this place. The salsa is super fresh (high tomato quality) which makes it all too easy to fill up on before the main meal. The guac is chunky, and I am personally in love with the Grilled Pork and Mango Salad. Everything I've tried is amazingly fresh. The service is pretty good, and the outside patio is nice in the evenings. The hours save me because sometimes I finish work too late for most restaurants and I still want to eat something fresh after 9 or 10pm. Try the maduros for a mini dessert (fried plaintains). Or hit them up for Sunday brunch.

My heart is at La Fonda on peachtree but of course this is still La Fonda.. Its a must do. I've had the paella del mar -- which was fabulous.. but I am so in love with the salmon fish tacos I just can't bring myself to order anything else. The service is not the greatest (by a long shot) but, the food and margaritas are definitely worth it.

La Fonda is authentic, trendy, and obviously an "in" spot to see and be seen. The Paella is delightful. It is served in a hot cast iron skiller and is very delicious. This was my second visit to a La fonda while visiting family in Atlanta and I enjoyed it again. I'm sure they have other good things than the paella, but it was so good the first time, I tried it again and was not disappointed.

This place was really great. I've eay=ten here before but I finally went with the other yelpers and got paella del mar. it was fantastic! of course the chips andsalsa is always good! The only reason I did not gie this place 5 stars was because the service is a little sporadic. Not bad, just a little all over the place. of course im going back soon.

I'm no expert when it comes to Cuban food but I think the food here is really good. The reason I give it four stars as apposed to five is the dining room does seem a bit messy. It's an open kitchen, the freezer door faces out to the tables, and there are huge bins of chips stacked up near the wall. But if we are rating the food and service alone I would give those five stars. I had the paella which has really good spicy sausage in it. My brother had the bocadillo cuban sandwich which I tried and it had a really great flavor to it. The mango margaritas are really good here as well. If a messy dining room doesn't bother you then I would recommend trying this place out!

Best Latin food in Atlanta - Very Vegetarian-Friendly This is one of the few places where I have trouble deciding what I like best. Their signature veggie paella is delicious, but so are the veggie tacos, the veggie Cuban sandwich, the spinach (fresh, not cooked) quesadilla and the bean quesadilla. The black beans and rice are both vegetarian. If you'd like, though, you can just fill up on appetizers. The tostones are great, and the salsa and quacamole are the freshest and tastiest in-town. They get my highest recommendation!

I've been going here for years for one reason...Paella. This specific La Fonda has the best paella I've ever had. I've tried some of the other locations but it void of flavor, completely bland and in serious need of salt. The Roswell Rd one is perfect. On their menu they have a few paella choices. I've had them all and I still love the cheapest one. It comes with calamari, shrimp, Chorizo sausage, peppers onions and bake chicken all served to you in a cast iron skillet. I know what you're thinking, "Paella in a cast iron skillet?!" I know it's not the traditional was to make it but it's so darn good! As for the restaurant, I've always had smiling and attentive service.

Wow!! What a delicious gem of a restaurant. Serving up authentic Cuban and Mexican food in a cute little diner setting...does it get better than that? The prices are very reasonable and the drink menu includes all your favorites, like sangaritas and micheladas. The service was a bit slow and unwelcoming; know in advance they can be a bit crispy about separate checks and don't do substitutions. (They will remove items from dishes, however.) Went with 2 coworkers for dinner time. The place was full but not packed to the point where we couldn't sit. We got a table right away and were greeted with chips and salsa. It took awhile to track down a server to order our meal, though. The dishes we ordered were the chicken salad, some kind of rotisserie-style chicken with rice and I got the paella. All were delicious, though the chicken had a couple dry spots. My paella was listed as the house specialty and didn't disappoint. It can be ordered in portions for one or two people. I got the "para uno" size and it was huge - though part of that could be filling up on chips while waiting. PS - they'll bring your check to the table and you pay at the counter inside.

Great food if you order the right thing!! They are very stingy with meat in many of their dishes. I always get the fish tacos which are AMAZING!! Other friends I've been with have been disappointed with their choices though. Great staff and quick service!

I have been coming to La Fonda Latina for over 20 years and it is still as wonderful as ever!!! The prices are SO inexpensive and the quality of the food is perfect. Always fresh! They have an incredible sandwich called the Reuben Cubano, which is a grilled chicken breast topped with Swiss cheese, coleslaw, their special dressing (which I always get as extra on the side because it's so good), pickles, and coleslaw. It is served hot on pressed Cuban bread ... So yummy! On the side, they serve black beans with yellow rice. The chips and salsa are complimentary and like everything else on their menu, fresh and delicious!!!

La Fonda is usually pretty good. It's a great place to meet friends for a pitcher of refreshment, especially when you're more interested in the company you keep than the quality of what's on your plate. But that being said, there are some great options on the menu. Start off with margaritas. Whether you prefer them on the rocks or frozen, you'll find a tasty and strong drink to lubricate your meal. I don't think you can go wrong with this. Sugar on my rim, please. Over the years, I've discovered some excellent hidden gems on their menu. For example, their chicken soup... it's just ridiculously good. I'm not sure what their secret is, but whatever they're doing is addictive. Their sandwiches are great, too. My husband absolutely adores the steak sandwich. The absolute best thing to order, though? Paella del Mar. Here's the secret. You have to order paella early. If you arrive later in the evening, skip it; it's probably been sitting around all night, making the seafood tough and the rice too dry. However, if it's late afternoon or early evening, you'll get a perfectly fresh batch and you just can't go wrong.

Great flavor to this carribean/Latin food. The portions are wonderful and they serve unlimited complimentary chips & salsa. Beans are not over-spiced. Guacamole is light and fresh. My favorite standby is the Parillas a la Veduras vegetable skewers. Service is consistently on the slow side. Apps come out fine, but the entrees & check take a while.

99 A+ ... Why? Well their health food score inspection for one is a 99. Two, very courteous staff. Of course patio seating and getting my quesadilla with black beans and rice combo doesn't hurt either. Yep, worth a go when in the area.

Although La Fonda is close to me, I had yet to go there. I have frequented it's sister restaurant, Fellini's pizza numerous times. I tried it for the first time this past week because my friend was 'craving mexican'. It was seat yourself, so I found a nice table on the patio. Perfect night for outside eating. Almost immediately, I was brought a plate of chips and salsa. The salsa was delicious. It seemed very fresh and almost had a sweet taste to it. Excellent. I ordered a house margarita, which was also quite good. Was strong, but didn't taste too strong, perfect. My friend and I weren't feeling the typical mexican food and we saw that they had Paella. They had it for 'uno' or 'dos'. We were unsure of how much food actually came in each and asked our server. He tried to tell us by hand motions... and told us that one probably was not enough. We are not big eaters, so we were still debating on which one to order and what extra items to get when he walked by us and showed us a paella for 'uno' going to another table. He walked by again a moment later with someone's order for a paella for 'duo'. Wayyy too much food for us. We decided on the paella for 'uno' and a side of their roasted vegetables. Both were delicious. We even had left-overs. I was pleased that the waiter came by and showed us how much food was in each dish. It was something he didn't have to do, but it most definitely helped us make the right decision. One key to note: take your check inside... for someone who had never been here before, we waited almost 15-20 minutes with our check and credit card sitting on the table, thinking our server had forgotten about us before someone finally told us that we had to take our check inside to pay. Just something to remember!

A coworker brought me here I probably would not have stopped otherwise however I'm so glad he did! I had one of the best Cuban sandwiches I've ever had! The bread was perfect, meat was perfect and the rice and beans on the side were as well. Highly recommended for a quick lunch on a late night dinner nothing fancy just outstanding food!

The fact that you can never get a parking spot is a good thing. Their salsa is pretty on point. Kind of mild but that's standard for free salsa. They keep the refills coming for you. Their sangria looks good - although I've never had it. I highly recommend a frozen margarita though - although a few times they've needed less tequila in it (I know that sounds weird). Queso is standard issue - it's white queso not yellow which is good. I usually get the chicken enchiladas platter then dump salsa on top. Their black beans and rice that come on the side are good mixed together. Their fish tacos are really good as well. I love the churros for dessert. Sure they're fried dough, rolled in cinnamon and you dip in chocolate (so not healthy) but they're so good. If you can find a parking spot, you're right on. You might need to park across the street. It's kid friendly, covered patio in case of rain abs lots of indoor seating. I've enjoyed this eating in and taking out and have never been disappointed. Service is quick and friendly. You just can't go wrong.

Food is always good. This place has been a staple for family friends and myself since I was in middle school. Parking sucks, service is slow but every bit is worth it. Typical food, but made better. The chips are thin and crispy! They must put something magic in the cheese dip bc it's awesome. I can't get over the parking though. Why does everyone else have to love this place too?!

I eat at La Fonda once or twice a week, so this review is more a mosaic of innumerable visits since I wrote my last review in 2011. I think for most people the quality of the service is something they feel is lacking, and I honestly think there is some truth to that and there is some cultural aspect to that. The service doesn't feel so different from when I've made trips down to Central America. Perhaps for me as I know most of the waitstaff I get a little more attention, but I would say that few of the waitstaff are particularly welcoming. Sandra, Miguel and another whose name I don't know are always stars. Despite coming here as often as I do, I have a very narrow menu experience base, as I nearly always have the Sopa de Pollo and Mango Salad with Pork. They used to have gazpacho in the summer months, which was excellent but that hasn't returned from 2012. I suspect the reason for that is that La Fonda really cares a lot about the quality of the produce. I find the salad always has excellent quality lettuces. Nothing bugs me more than find some nasty, wretched, wilted (or worse) lettuce in the middle of salad. I don't think that's ever happened at La Fonda to me. I know a lot of people come here and order Mexican food, but listen this place is La Fonda LATINA, which should give you some clue that it's not simply La Fonda Mexicana. Their Mexican fare is good, but for my money, if you want Mexican food go to a Mexican restaurant. La Fonda Latina has excellent Bocadillo, Paella, Arroz con Pollo, etc... That said, I LOVE their salsa, so I hope they keep including the Mexican food on the menu. If you've read this far, you're about to get let in on a little secret. La Fonda makes a drink called a Michelada. I have posted a couple of pics of these things. La Fonda rims a glass in chili powder and salt, uses tomato juice, adds four or five hot sauces, and then fills the glass with a beer of your choice (you MUST choose Dos Equis Amber!) You're probably think that a Michelada doesn't sound that great when described....well it didn't to me, because I don't really like tomato juice or bloody Mary drinks, but the Michelada is perfect after a work out or on a nice sunny day sitting out on the patio. It's clean and refreshing with an excellent flavor that is unique but all familar. Remember, I'm extolling this thing and I don't even like tomato juice! Anyway, I put this little secret at the bottom of the menu, because I don't want them to run out of Michelada for me! Were the service a little friendlier and more proactive, I'd rate this place five stars.

La Fonda is a great place to grab a bite to eat, sit on a patio, & drink a margarita/mojito/beer. The chips and salsa aren't too bad either! I definitely have my go-to meals, and I rarely diverge from the tried and true: 1. Sopa de Pollo - this is my favorite chicken soup! I love the fresh cilantro and when you squeeze the lime in the soup, it adds the perfect bit of tartness. 2. Chicken Enchiladas - ok, to be totally honest, when these come out they're usually luke warm. But after eating way too many chips and dip, I always have to take a box home, and the leftovers are amazing! 3. Cheese Dip - add jalapeños Overall, La Fonda is great for cheap Latin/Mexican food, and the awesome patio and drinks makes it a great place to meet friends or go on a cheap date. The service is always fast, too!

This place has it's positives and OK's. I do like that they offer Tex-Mex, Cuban (Sandwiches) and Spanish (Paella) foods here. Who doesn't like variety? I also like that their prices are very affordable for this side of town. The OK was their service, well it was very slow actually. I'm getting used to the lackadaisical wait staff culture of some restaurants but luckily we where able to flag folks down when we really had to go. FYI- if you need your check, just go to the register. I was here for lunch got their traditional Cuban Sandwhich. Very good and the rice and beans are yummy too. My friend got a vegetarian meal and thought it was yummy too. It wasn't the best Latin meal we had but it was good. I might return and have a drink here when I don't have to head back to work.

Every time I eat at La Fonda, I'm surprised at how good it is. I've been enough times now that the surprise should have worn off; I'm not quite sure why it hasn't. Maybe it's because the place is pretty unassuming. Maybe it's because the place is always packed, such that it looks more like a food factory than a place that actually serves good food. Appearances are deceiving. Sure, the service leaves something to be desired, but it's a laid back, casual place. I don't really expect to be blown away by service in a place that serves plastic pitchers of margaritas. I'm a fan of pretty much everything I have ordered. The drinks are deceptively strong. The chicken soup is awesome, as are the pork enchiladas. The cuban sandwich is always a solid choice. They swear up and down that the black beans and rice are vegetarian, but they are so savory that they don't taste like it! I like that the menu is diverse enough that you can order something light and health or something indulgent. La Fonda is a great, non-fussy choice for this area. I'm not a huge fan of living in the 'burbs, but this place eases the pain just a little bit.

More La Fonda for me! It's always good. If you like ribeyes, like I like ribeyes, you can get a ribeye here for $15. You're not getting a ribeye for that price at many places on the planet. Comes with black beans and what seems like a barrel full of yellow rice. I would be remiss not to mention their salsa. It's outstanding. And you get free chips and salsa with every meal. This La Fonda is extremely busy on the weekends. Good luck finding a parking spot. I usually have to get creative. But it's worth the hassle.

What more do you want besides great food and great service? The Paella is delicious! I'm always amazed at how quickly they get it to the table. It always has just the perfect amount of seafood and vegetables. Their steak and fish tacos are amazing and the salsa and chips are always fresh!

I enjoyed the paella del mar here. The service was just ok, the food wasn't bad, the patio is decent. Don't go out of your way to go here, but it's not a bad spot to grab lunch or dinner.

La Fonda is my favorite restaurant of all time. Before you skim over this review, hear me out. I have been going to la Fonda since I was only an infant. My time spent eating their delicious complimentary chips and salsa would shock you; i would say that I have easily spent hundreds of hours of my life eating at this place. I have grown with la Fonda: watched it undergo renovations, seen staff members come and go, watched in shock as they added new items such as the fish tacos to their menu, and smile with them as I form lasting life long memories under its roof. La Fonda is more than a restaurant to me, it is my family's headquarters. I was dining on their saffron rice when I learned the news of my dad getting a new job. I had my first pubescent voice crack as I ordered a chicken quesadilla. My mom shed a tear as I spit out a bite of enchilada to announce that I'd been accepted to college. La Fonda is more than just perfect Cuban food, it is home. Thank you la Fonda for 22 years of impeccable service, amazing food, but most of all thank you for the memories. I kid you not that a single tear rolls down my face as I scribe this review on my phone. La Fonda, you are home to me. Never change a thing.

I kind of love La Fonda. It's one of those restaurants that I always forget to go to because 9 times out of 10 when I'm craving Mexican food I wind up at a hole in the wall that specializes in chile rellenos and frozen margaritas. La Fonda is a lot more Cuban/Latin inspired than the likes of Taxco, Tacos and Tequila, El Azteca, etc. It's seat yourself and you will be immediately brought chips and salsa. Holy best salsa in Atlanta Batman! Ordinarily salsa does not excite me, and I'm all about the queso. However, the salsa here is amazingly flavorful and full of cilantro. I could *almost* forgo the queso and be content with just salsa. Almost. They have a sizeable outside patio with overhead fans, so it's even doable in the dead of summer. I could happily hang out on their patio all afternoon. Sometimes you do wind up hanging out here nearly all afternoon long because the service tends to be on the slow side. No worries when you're noshing on chips and cilantro salsa though. La Fonda has really good but different frozen margaritas. They are more frothy than frozen, which is odd but refreshing. I think their paella is good - not the most authentic and heavy on the rice, but really good nonetheless. I usually opt for the blackened tilapia fish tacos. Let's go for a Goldilocks and the Three Bears taco analogy here folks: Tin Lizzy's fish tacos are too small, Verde's fish tacos are too big, and La Fonda's fish tacos are just right. They're super tasty, they come with rice and beans, and the whole plate is $8. That's definitely a good deal in my book! I'm also a huge fan of their fried plantains. Really I've never had anything here that I don't like. Sure service can be slow at times, but all and all, La Fonda is a really solid selection for Latin food. It also seems healthier (read: less butter laden) than all of my usual Mexican haunts. It's no Nuevo Laredo, but La Fonda is certainly a solid choice.

La Fonda is a really good hole-in-the-wall Cuban/Mexican joint. Wear your crappiest clothes, wear your cap, wear your sweaty workout gear & you will feel comfortable! That's why I love it! Food is very good... Fresh, swiftly prepared, great service! There's a nice patio as well! Enjoy!

The only thing I liked at this place was the chips, salsa and Queso dip Service - just bad, maybe the guy had a bad day but this was the worst service I've had since I've moved to Atlanta 6 months ago. And I go out to eat 2 - 3 times a week! No in the place seemed friendly at all. We walked in looking for a host to tell us where to sit. Instead we get stares from a cashier and the cooks and the bus women. Finally a server from outside came inside saw us and told us to sit wherever we like. We waited 5 minutes before we got menus. We quickly made our decision and were ready to order. Too bad we had to wait another 10 minutes before the server came back to us. The server never checked on us once during the meal. In fact my husband had to chase him down because he forget the jalepenos for my dip. Then I wanted more chips. Again we had to chase down the server. Unfortunately the food is not worth the wait. I love Latin food and was very disappointed with this place. As I said in the beginning the only thing I enjoyed was the chips, salsa dip. QUESO LA FONDA DIP* - I ordered with the jalepenos..yum. The perfect amount of spice. Not too spicy at all for. BOCADILLO LATINO - Roast pork, ham, Swiss cheese, mustard, mayonnaise, mojo sauce and pickles on Cuban bread . This is a sorry excuse for a Cuban sandwich they call bocadillo latino. It is not the real roast pork, it's more like dry cold cut style pork. The ham is as generic deli as you can get. The bread was dry. It came with rice and beans, even that had no flavor. The greedy big eater that I am could not even eat half of the sandwich. I'm really sorry that this experience was so bad. The place is really close to me so it would have been wonderful to have Spanish restaurant close by. I do have one good thing to say. They were playing good Spanish music which always makes it seem authentic.

Great outdoor dining, great margaritas, great shrimp tacos, Fab chorizo quesadilla and it's kid friendly. Wait staff could be friendlier.

I really like coming here for their paella and Latin fare. The waitstaff is amazing and very attentive. It's a small location so be ready to wait for a table if you go during peak hours. I like their frozen margs and their chips and salsa are on point!

I love LA Fonda. I've always gone to the one off of Ponce but I met some friends for lunch at the Buckhead location. Google maps did not know where this place is so if you're having a hard time finding it, look for Fellini's because it's right next to it. Don't go all the way to Publix like google says. I always get the Paella Del Mar. It is so good and the seafood isn't overcooked. I hate it when restaurants overcook seafood. The salsa is very good and fresh too. Our server was awesome. My friend had to warm up his baby's food and he did it without question. He also saw that I was ready to pay and the lady at the register was busy on the phone so he took my payment when he saw that it was going to take a prolonged period of time. This location has ample parking too. This is a plus if you're used to the Ponce location.

I went with a group of about 8 people just before the lunch crowd. We were seated quickly bit that was where the good service stopped. Our food came out at different times and even though the restaurant wasn't crowded the staff was too busy with each other to pay attention to us. When I got my food is wasntt even hot. But the drinks were good

I've eaten here literally hundreds of times and 95% of the time it's fantastic. Even when it's not amazing it's still pretty good. I would list my favorite dishes but it would basically be citing the entire menu. This is my number one go to restaurant in Atlanta.

I've come here a few times and after trying various items on their menu, I've settled on one of my favorites: The Fish Burrito. At 7 bucks and with rice and beans, I think it's a bargain. I've ordered it a few times and it's always got fresh ingredients and the roasted corn really pushes it over the top. The sauce on their tacos and burritos is also very good. There's plenty of great fresh choices here, and it's worth a try! For less than $10 a meal on Roswell Road, it's a bargain!

I got the fish tacos holmes and it was on money. Now they get 3 stars because they forgot a Persian's guacamole and the service was not the best from the waiter we had, dude looked like he was angry to work there. The guac did taste good after the server hooked it up and the fish tacos were money. The spot is close and cozy and price is right so I will be going back.

I'm disappointed after reading good reviews on yelp. Based on a solid 4 stars I was expecting more and better. Paella del mar had the inadequate proportion of seafood to rice. Tiny pieces of seafood as well. Flavors however were good. My wife had the fish tacos which were unremarkable and the black beans served were barely warm. Noisy and very loud music which they turned down at our request. Sitting on the patio was pleasant.

The salsa is super yummy. The guacamole is really fresh although IMO it could use a little seasoning. The paella is so delicious; perfect flavor and really fresh ingredients. My husband and I and our two year old split paella for two and we were beyond stuffed. The prices are really reasonable and the quality of the food puts every other Mexican joint in Atlanta to shame. We will definitely be back!
