I am so disappointed with my stay here. I have stated at many JW's and this is by far the worst. I was given multiple excuses but no effort to rectify their situation. This is a truly unacceptable stay for this level of business. Save yourself and check into a real four star hotel!

Buckhead appears to be the Palo Alto of the South. This hotel is definitely above and beyond our price range, BUT, we were in town for a convention and clearly the peeps running our convention hooked up the discounted rates for us. As we walked inside we felt like King Jaffe Joffer and my wife felt like Queen Aoleon. Maybe that's a bit of a stretch, but it was quite a warm welcome from the staff. As we approached the walk way on a semi rainy Summer afternoon the Friday before 4th of July weekend our eyes were met with a spotless driveway and lobby entrance. Front desk staff member could see that I was in a huge rush and he checked us in to our room in record time. Our bellhop was stacking the cart with our bags and chatting it up as this was going on and we were in the front door, checked in and back to a friends car in about 12 minutes. We had a wonderful experience with our driver, John. John from New York was easily the nicest guy we met and we met nothing but nice folks during our stay in Atlanta. He drove us to pick up our rental car, made sure we were getting in the car before he drove off. Gave us a ride to pick up some lunch and when we offered to walk back he said, in his never-gonna-get-rid-of-it NYC accent "get outta here. Walk in this heat? Not a chance." He picked us up after we ate and took us back to get our bags and THEN dropped us off across the street at the (very conveniently located) MARTA station. The room was very nice, spacious enough for our needs and the soaking tub was a nice touch. Shower head was one of those fancy pants shower heads. We definitely enjoyed our trip to Atlanta and wouldn't ya know, pimp style mall attached to this hotel. This is a wonderful location if you know there will be a large convention in Downtown Atlanta and you would prefer a bit of tranquility as opposed to the hustle and bustle of a packed downtown environment.

This is a nice hotel however the service is a bit pretentious and phony feeling. The concierge is one of the worst for this caliber of hotel. The gym is very good for a hotel. All in all they dont focus on the things that matter and instead focus on ' in your face " staff virtually everywhere. Also, kill the valet or make it mandatory. This is such a confused system at the JW. I'll only stay again if others from work do. I cant get over how lacking the concierge lounge and service is.....

I thought this hotel was beautiful, but I'm conflicted on my feelings. First, it's a great location. If you cut through the parking lot and cross the street, you have a bus stop. Cross the street the OTHER way and you have a MARTA (train) stop. You can get anywhere in Atlanta really easily. (Location - 5 star) We booked on Priceline and price was a steal I thought, however I really kick myself for not doing enough research. Parking ended up being $22 per day plus there wasn't free Wi-Fi (it was $15 per day) so with the room rate + these add-ons, we could have booked somewhere else cheaper. (Note to self, make sure to check these things in the future.) (Price - 3 stars) The room itself was gorgeous and we had a great view. Beds were almost too comfy, because I found myself not wanting to get out of them. We never really spend a lot of time in the room, but always want to wind down and check our email, Google maps, etc before bed. We can do it from our phones, but it's easier with a computer. The no free internet thing again was a damper. Also, no coffee pot in the room, so add another $3-5 per day for the Starbucks downstairs if you're a coffee drinker. (Rooms - 3 stars) Staff was okay. They didn't seem overly friendly, nor did we get the rockstar treatment that was mentioned in another review BUT they weren't rude either. There was a really phenomenal bartender in the hotel bar downstairs that chatted with us for awhile. (Service - 4 stars, only because of the bartender.) All in all, we didn't have a bad experience and quite enjoyed ourselves, however next time I'm in Atlanta, I would probably stay elsewhere.

Absolutely terrible experience with the leadership staff of this hotel. While staying at the hotel for a conference, we had a camera stolen from our room. Come to find out, the door lock was not retracting completely and anyone could have waltzed into and had access to our valuables. The loss prevention officer witnessed the malfunction, yet neglected to put that into his report. Now, the claims department says that it was reported the door is in proper working order and not malfunctioning... It took 2 months to get to this point and now I am told I was mistaken. Ridiculous. Will never stay at a Marriott again.

I was here for a quick stopover on a Friday night on a Priceline Name-Your-Own-Price deal. The hotel is beautiful, conveniently located and a steal if you go the Priceline route. Our 12th floor room was spacious and offered an unbeatable and surprisingly green view of the downtown skyline. We sat at the hotel bar for a drink the evening before and the beers were, unsurprisingly, overpriced. No big deal just the unfortunate side effect of a big name hotel chain. The staff was friendly and attentive but unobtrusive. Pro tip: look for free on street parking on the street with the MARTA station. plenty to be had and saves you the ridiculous parking fees.

Not too impressed with this venue. Rather average service for a JW Marriott brand. I have a party of 50 guests and despite making arrangements 2 hours in advance for shuttle service to get my group to dinner they failed to meet my needs. Rooms are nothing special. I don't plan to use this venue again in the future.

Excellent hotel close to the Marta station and a Huston's grill. Rooms are big, well equipped and with beautiful views. There is a concierge with decent food and personnel is very nice and helpfuls. The lobby area is very nice with an excellent full bar. The Convention Center is very pleasant, catering is very good too.

***This JW Marriott might not feel as nice as the contemporary, upscale JW Marriott LA LIVE, but it is still a good luxurious hotel with a nice Concierge Lounge, good rooms, nice lobby, and good service*** I have only stayed at one JW Marriott (the relatively new one in Downtown LA). It is an upscale but also very contemporary hotel. In some ways, it was noticeably more upscale than a Marriott, but there were also parts of it that did not feel up to the luxury standards of similar hotels in its category. The JW Marriott Buckhead is similar. It is located in the very high-end Buckhead neighborhood where you will find all kinds of upscale hotels like Ritz-Carlton and InterContintental. This JW Marriott is next to the Lenox Shopping Square and it definitely feels like an upscale hotel once you are in it (the exterior is basic). The lobby is very nice--contemporary but also upscale and comfortable. The lobby smells good as do the hallways--not always the case at big hotels. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The bed and linen were both nice, but like the JW Marriott LA LIVE, the bedding would not be up to the standard of a hotel like Las Vegas' Aria The bathroom was spacious and more upscale than a Marriott. The shower was good--a showerhead that dispersed a wide though powerful cascade of water. While the room was very clean, the inner plastic shower curtain was dirty and should have been replaced. Like the JW Marriott LA LIVE, the room felt nicer than a Marriott but not really upscale like The Cosmopolitan. Still, there were nice touches like an in-room safe and a good leather desk chair. The fitness center was really good. There were more than enough machines and the machines were very high-end--equipped with LCD monitors showcasing a lot of information and an in-screen TV. A locker room and showers were also available. Marriott Gold and Platinum members are provided access to the Concierge Lounge (on the 25th floor) and it is a good one. At night, there was a great variety of food--more of a dinner and not just appetizers. While the food was not at the level of the JW Marriott LA LIVE's Concierge Lounge, it was noticeably better than a Marriott or Renaissance Concierge Lounge. There were entrees including salmon with lime, lemon and a grits-like side, chicken breast in a smoky Latin sauce with mango salsa and vegetarian penne pasta. Small snacks like tuna salad, bean salad and hummus with crispy pita were also available. The cheese offering was far above the standard cheddar and jack cheese with crackers at most Marriott Concierge Lounges. In addition to those selections, there was brie as well as very good goat cheese and blue cheese. Good garnishes were available too like honey, dried fruit and a very good and slightly spicy (pepper jelly) fruit paste. Desserts were served alongside dinner and they were mediocre--chocolate chip cookies and an assortment of cupcakes including carrot cake with cream cheese frosting (the best option) and a rich and dry chocolate cupcake. A big plus for this Concierge Lounge is that it opens at 5pm (most open at 5:30pm). Breakfast also showcased a good variety, but I was hoping the quality would be better (the Marriott San Francisco Union Square showcases a much better breakfast in their Concierge Lounge). Breakfast options here included oatmeal, granola, yogurt, fresh fruit, whole bananas, scrambled eggs (moist but also soupy and bland), bacon (good quality and nicely meaty but it could have been more crispy), sausage patties with peppers and onions (not much color and lacking in flavor), a wide assortment of average looking pastries (including croissants, muffins, danishes, and bagels), and an assortment of cereal (I did not care for the options--Cheerios, corn flakes and mini shredded wheat). There were a great variety of beverages though including orange juice (by carafe or bottle), several kinds of milk and a single serving coffee machine, which also puts out pretty decent hot chocolate though definitely not at the level of the JW Marriott LA LIVE's coffee house-esque hot chocolate. Marriott is now offering free continental breakfast on weekends to Gold and Platinum members and this property has decided to keep its lounge open on weekends (for breakfast only). Service was pleasant and good throughout my stay (consistent with other Marriott properties). Room rates can be reasonable here since this JW Marriott is just outside of the city. This JW Marriott is a nice hotel and if you book ahead, you can get a more reasonable room rate than most similar upscale hotels in other major cities. While I prefer the JW Marriott LA LIVE, this JW Marriott is still noticeably better than Marriott and one to consider for a short or long stay. Self parking and valet parking are available. They charge a fee for both; it is easy finding an open space in the self parking garage.

As an update I JUST received my e-folio and the points credited to my account last night! I checked out of this hotel on May 1st. For this to be a higher-end business hotel this is absolutely unacceptable. Not impressed.

My family stayed at the JW Marriott in Buckhead on a four-day trip to Atlanta. We proceeded to eat at 0 restaurants and do 0 things in Buckhead, but we did get to know the nearest freeways pretty well. Whoops! Probably booked the wrong hotel. Location aside, it was a nice place, if a little bland. We stayed in two rooms (one for the parents, one for the kids), and our room was pretty decent. The beds were comfortable, even if I did share mine with my fifteen-year-old 160-pound brother. I think we got complimentary internet, though I can't be sure - the beauty of traveling with parents is that I never see those bills. (From what I understand, though, the room rates were very reasonable.) The lobby was nice, and we helped ourselves to the various fruit-infused waters. We also spent a little time in the hotel bar, where we had good draft beers and watched a hooker get booted out by security. Everyone we interacted with on staff was pretty great - we saw the valets multiple times a day and they were always friendly. All in all it was a pleasant stay, and I'd recommend the JW Marriott if you plan on shopping and relaxing in Buckhead, which is, by all accounts, a very nice and luxurious part of town.

17$/day for internet? It's cheaper on AIRPLANES. And it's suppose to be so good for business trips... Disappointing. Everything else was fine though :)

Checked in almost on a whim recently while visiting Atlanta for a golf outing. Service was an Utter Shock! Valet. Almost argued with me when I told him that I wasn't going to park my car there and drilled me with numerous questions about where I was going to park. Get over it! I'm parking my car at a friends house. Concierge-- No concierge button on the phone. And the phone was So light that it fell out of my hands twice! The concierge was also so lackluster I almost felt like giving her a class on how to greet a guest and give concierge services. Boy have I got a Tip for You The bell captain called me almost immediately after I got into my room and hit me up for a tip. This after waiting forever in line and then waiting again for over 2 hours for them to get the room ready. It's just plain unprofessional! Thoughts to Ponder-- I'd conclude by saying this to the JW Marriott Atlanta Buckhead staff. I lived in Atlanta for over 20 years. I graduated both High School and college in your town and consider it to be my home. I do not think you adequately represented our city during my stay because I did not feel the warm welcome that the city usually extends to visitor and residents alike. The behavior of the staff on that particular day was "off" and I'd recommend you take a serious look at your customer service skills if you want to gain and maintain an edge in the travel business. I would say this to the JW Marriott Atlatna Buckhead Management group. If you would like to get a rock solid list of improvements you can make please do not hesitate to contact me. I actually wrote a 7,000 word review but was not able to post it here due to size limitations. You have a great brand but you need to work with your staff to round out some of the edges here to make the experience more enjoyable.

I stayed here for business every week for say 8 months back in 2008 and a smidge of January in 2009. This is honestly the best hotel I have stayed at for business in the past 3 years. The staff was great upon check in, after only a few weeks most of them knew me by name and checked me right in and made small talk. In general, the staff throughout the hotel was extremely nice all around! The rooms were very spacious and always clean in my experience. I did one time have a problem with getting hot water in my room, but considering the 25+ times I stayed there, the one mishap was no biggie. They apologized and took off a big chunk of the rate for that day and threw me some Marriott points to make up for the issue. This place has a BEAUTIFUL lap pool, I'd say about 20 to 25 meters long. It is the best pool I've ever had in a hotel due to a combination of length and size (in number of lanes). As I was training for the triathlon while I was here, it was simply awesome! The gym is also out of this world, the only nice addition would be some newer exercise bikes and ellipticals. The ones they have are fine, they just aren't really up to snuff compared to some of the other newer gyms at other Marriotts. This place also has a simply amazing lounge for gold/platinum members. It does an AWESOME breakfast with pretty much anything you could ask for. It also has plenty of food you can take away in case you can't stay and eat. The lounge also does dinner and snacks as well. These are really nice, especially if you are there on business. The staff in the lounge is also incredibly knowledgeable about the surrounding area and will provide recommendations and help you find whatever you need. The rate at this hotel was also not out of this world compared to the other hotels in the area, it was actually rather comparable. There is some decent night life in the area as well, but most of it is driving distance. You're also attached to a mall, the Lenox Park Mall. I went in a few times, but it was nothing terribly impressive in my opinion. To keep in mind, I'm not much of a mall guy, I shop mostly online...

Stay at the Marriott conference center two weeks ago and was disappointed. I decided to stay at the JW this time. This is a much better choice. The food is excellent, the rooms are top notch with great amenities. This hotel is close to the MARTA. The only negative is no free wifi.

During my quick overnight at the JW Marriott at Buckhead this weekend I was impressed by the hotel itself and the friendliness of every staff member I came into contact with. After a late-night check in I got a wonderful (and much needed!) night of sleep and woke to a sunny, picturesque view of the Atlanta skyline. Conveniently located near the MARTA and numerous Buckhead attractions, the JW Marriott is an ideal place to stay while exploring this southern metropolis. The common areas as well as the individual rooms are plush, stylish and very comfortable. Getting the bellmen to help you with a cab or your bags is positively effortless and the rest of the staff really could not have been friendlier. It was all smooth sailing here!

Great place. Very comfortable and quiet. Impeccable service. Navigating to the front of the hotel threw Siri for a loop, though. Do NOT get turned around trying to find the front door right after Christmas! Convenient to MARTA. I had my 2yo with me and she was blown away by the free blankey in the pack 'n play. At least I hope it was free. Stop typing . . .

We dined here today for Mother's Day Brunch on May 10, 2015. I was very excited as I am new to Atlanta and hadn't been to the JW Marriott here previously. The Brunch was a huge disappointment! No fresh flowers on tables or center pcs. anywhere, not one ice carving. Food was alright, good but not great. They were very proud of their Macaroni and Cheese, it was good but not what I paid $70 X 2 for! I don't go to brunches for their Macaroni & Cheese! The only fish or seafood was salmon. That was good also but very little variety. They had prime beef but it was fatty. Very small dessert table w nothing outstanding. Staff was extremely extremely courteous, I felt sorry for them. The restaurant was like a ghost town. JW Marriott: give it up, if you can't do better than that then stop trying. Epic failure. I'm sorry we wasted our money there.

I was very impressed with the JW. The concierge lounge here is awesome and Hanna is a great asset to this hotel. The food there was way better than other lounges I've been to and they also serve Illy coffee at the lounge (latte, espresso, reg coffee)! The rooms were nice but you can hear the noise through the doors. The gym was also pretty small and unimpressive. I enjoyed my experience and will be coming back. Hopefully no loud noises will be heard from the rooms again though.

When in Atlanta I always select this property. The negatives - parking is expensive on property and there is a mall lot right next to it for free; internet regardless of status you pay for - but many hotels and Marriotts have the same issues. The positives - room rate is very reasonable, most times of the year; great staff; for Marriott Rewards customers the concierge is excellent; rooms are nicely fitted and about standard size; gym and pool have all you could want; well located in relation to local restaurants/freeways/transit(MARTA)/mall.

This is one of the greats in the A. Although we stayed before the hotel was renovated, the staff more than made up for it with great service. Never had any issue staying; from check in, to room service, breakfast, drinks at the lobby bar, valet, and check out, everything is in tip top order. Looking forward to experiencing the recent renovation.

It's a nice hotel overall. The concierge lounge is excellent and I'm a fan of the staff that work there. Pros: Clean, big rooms, great lounge for elite members. The gym and pool area are excellent. It's connected to the mall so lots of eating options in walking distance. Also excellent location across the street from a Marta (Lenox Station) so great way to anywhere. Cons: Sometimes can be expensive. Parking can be expensive

  • Char L.

Great hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean, the bed was comfy. The concierge recommended restaurants around the area and even had an appetizer sent to our table when we were eating. The best part about this hotel is that it's connected to the Lennox Square Mall!!! You don't even need to walk outside if it's cold, wet, or windy. Just take the elevator down to the lobby, walk down a corridor, and viola! You're shopping!

Stayed for one night passing through ATL on the way to Birmingham. The hotel was clean and the rooms were nice enough. Staff at check in and out were very pleasant. The only major issue we encountered was parking in the garage. The two times we needed to exit the cards would not work and we had to wait forever for someone to override. Parking is expensive anyway, pay a few more bucks and valet. I used the pool early in the morning and it was nice and peaceful. Sauna facilities as well.

"Larger, Delux King, Corner Room -- Gorgeous 300 square foot deluxe room with large sitting area, separate shower and soaking tub." That's the wording of the room I booked online. When I checked in, the hotel said they were booked full and could only place me in their normal level of room and the 4th floor room had a beautiful view of the kitchen's venting system. Was the staff friendly? Yes. Was the place clean? Yes. Was it at all what I expected or wanted? No.

FRIENDLY STAFF ! - on the evening of 12/3 - Everyone from the bellboy, to staff and especially concierge was very approachable and friendly. Bruce Conger , concierge, was very helpful in researching , recommending and making reservations for a restaurant where I was looking specifically to serve foie gras. The lady in the gift shop was helpful in getting me water and recommending a sinus / cold medicine. The staff just hanging in the lobby were always helpful to find out if I needed assistance. The bellman was helpful in hailing a cab. Ironically, I was not spending the evening here, but just needed assistance. This makes me appreciate Marriott for future stays!

  • Madison L.

I have never encountered such a pleasant and helpful staff! I had a great chat with the ladies at the front desk when I checked in who remembered me when I checked out, the concierge let me use his computer when the printer in the business center wasn't working, the guy who delivered my room service went over my order to make sure everything was present and the way I had ordered it, and everyone was super helpful when I had questions (which I had a lot of). The attitude and demeanor of everyone working there made the experience all that much more relaxing and memorable. I don't travel to Buckhead very often, but when I do, I will definitely be staying here again!

Stayed at JW as a gift but this was the best hotel I've probably stayed in that wasn't a resort or anything like that. The room itself, the view of the city, and the mini bar was very impressive and deserves an A+. Also the location is great for Atlanta! Definitely will stay again!

I spent some time here last weekend while I was in town for a wedding and it is a pretty nice place. There is a jug of iced lemon water sitting in the lobby (it's the little things!) and a nice little cafe with pastries, coffees, etc. The drinks at the bar are a little expensive ($9 for a glass of wine) but that's to be expected. Because I was here for wedding events I spent a lot of time in the banquet hall. It's a big space and they decked it out differently for each event so it didn't even feel like we were in the same room each time. I stayed in the hotel for one night and the room was quite nice. The bathroom was all green marble which looked nice, but it was lacking a feature - a fan. Which is key when you are rooming with several people who need to take successive showers. And, this could really happen anywhere but the maid service had given us two shower gels instead of a shampoo so we had to go to the wedding without shampooing our hair. THE HORROR! Not a huge deal but it did feel kind of icky. One comment about the catering service here. I ate about 3-4 buffet meals here and none were organized all that well. The first dinner was organized so poorly that we had to wait on line for about 30 minutes to get our food. The subsequent meals ran much more smoothly, but I kept noticing the catering staff coming out to replenish dishes and totally cutting in front of guests to refill the dishes without saying excuse me. I found it to be pretty rude, actually. Otherwise, it's a nice hotel in a good location. Right next to Lenox Square Mall if you need to do any shopping.

Attended a Company Seminar here for 4 days, plus extra day stranded by AirTran. Staff remembered us on re-check in. Same room given also. Excellent Service, clean rooms and great meeting place. Breakfast Buffet is $20 but is good and better deal than $17 Breakfast., still too much. Lenox Mall has food court and several fine restaurants surrounf hotel. Their Car will take you up to 2 miles for free. Right on the MARTA rail line very easy 33 minutes to the Airport for 6.50 round trip per person.

The JW. is a one of a kind Luxury Hotel. Its attached to the legendary Lennox Square Mall.. The hotel has an High End Resturant called the Lennox Grille, that serves amazing Asian Fusion Crusine. All around if your into interactment with the chefs, coming to the morning buffet is the way to go.

After further contemplation, I'm "this close" to taking a star away because the concierge failed to tell me about many of the really good restaurants that are in the neighborhood i.e. he sent me to some pretty ordinary places. The bellhop was more help.

  • Jason W.

Standard upscale aging hotel, finest attribute is location in Buckhead attached to Lenox Mall. Level of service for me was poor. Check in efficiency was less than poor. On-site food options are abusively expensive even by four star standards. The level of service they want to present is a veneer delivered by disconnected staff whose heart is not in quality hospitality. I only experienced one positive staffer in the lounge area while ordering food. Aside from that, condescending and rude individuals who made you feel you were bothering them for simple things. All the best if you want to call the front desk from your room. Your phone call will have birthdays. On the 18th floor? Enjoy going down 18 floors for a $3.50 soft drink. In room entertainment is 90's antiquated. You cannot pause paid movies (maybe to travel 36 floors round trip for a Coke), and the audio and video are out of sync. Rooms are well appointed and clean. There is a nice indoor pool and exercise facility. My experience was underwhelming and I would not reward this sloth, unfriendly dinosaur with your patronage unless you absolutely must have the location. Requests for service to room were ignored twice. Unacceptable for JW Marriott. I felt unwelcome here and they pickpocket you at every turn. I felt unsafe leaving even the most basic personal belongings in the room. JW Marriott Buckhead needs retirement and a major, major, major customer service and staff security upgrade. Never again. This is an 80's customer service horror scene wrapped in 2000's marble and 90's technology. No. No thank you.

Stayed for 2 nights last week. And it was great. Especially with cold snowing weather I was so glad that the lenox shopping mall was connected to the hotel. I could still wear light and easily went to shopping and got lunch. It is expensive, luxurious hotel but I do think it was worth it by its location and quality.

Very reliable business-oriented hotel. Not spectacular in any way, but everything is solid. They let me check in at 9am and gave me a high floor with a Buckhead view as requested. It's pretty conveniently located, right across the street from a MARTA station and attached to Lenox mall. (Lenox can't hold a candle to Phipps a short distance away, but still...) The rooms are quite spacious and the beds are incredibly comfortable. The bathrooms are the only disappointment, as they look like regular Marriotts tarted up with marble tile in the showers. The bar is pleasant enough and the scallops with corn and bacon relish appetizer is very good. I didn't try the full dinner menu from the internal restaurant. Service is good--I broke my finger on the sidewalk outside Lenox (don't ask) and they gave me an ice pack immediately. It is very group/convention/God-forbid-a-prom-the-night-I-stayed oriented, so be prepared for that. Not as polished as the Mandarin Oriental nor as genteel-South as the Ritz Carlton nearby, but a good choice if the rate is right.

Extremely pretty lobby well designed. Staff was wonderful. I stayed in a corner room which was huge. The bathroom had a separate shower and bathtub which my hubby loved cause it's rare he fits in a tub an he fit (he's 6'3). The concierges lounge food was amazing, the staff was attentive an the view of Atlanta was gorgeous.

This is a nice Marriott considering the location. I expected Buckhead to be a bit more grand based on the Lenox Mall and the presence of a JW Marriott...instead, I was given a run of the mill location (when compared to Tysons) and a view of...railroad tracks. Yeah, not my favorite thing. The room was a bit better than a Spring Hill Suites - the only thing that made the property nice was the lobby. Bar was too cozy and the conference center ate the property more than I cared for. Also, I didn't enjoy being woken up at 1:30am to the sound of a train...that's something that ruined the whole experience. Will I be back? No. Not considering that I spend a majority of my hotel stays at Marriott properties and this was one of the worst experiences I've had. Staff tried to be good which is what makes it three stars, but otherwise, take a pass.

J-Dub in Buckhead is nice because of the location. I've actually been to nicer JW Marriotts around the country. A little overpriced for what is offered. However the service and the staff really do look out for you. Their courtesy scale was a 125 on a scale of 100. Although the surrounding Buckhead area provides many dining options, within the J-Dub has very good food if you choose to stay here. I would definitely recommend anyone coming from out of town to stay here (if they have the means to do so), if you are hosting an event or seminar. But definitely take advantage of the shuttle service that they provide and the location may have bumped them an extra star! Grade: B

Great front desk service. Everyone we dealt with was very attentive. I like that the bellhop walks you up to your room to make sure your key card works and the room is satisfactory. He earned his tip definitely! Expensive valet, but I guess that's the norm for this type of hotel. I think it was $34/day, and $24/day to self park. Yikes! Also, valet can get a little crazy on weekends when everyone's coming and going. Be patient. Call ahead from your room and (fingers crossed) your car will be waiting when you get downstairs. Wifi is about $13/day. Free if you're a Marriott member. To avoid paying, connect to your own hotspot in order to use the web (good idea to make sure your phone or tablet hotspot is set up correctly BEFORE you get to the hotel). Location couldn't be more perfect for shopping and dining out. Plenty within walking distance.

We stayed @ the JW buckhead for a work trip and had a great experiance. The bell man, David, and the door man, Paul, were amazing. David gave us great recommendations for dining spots and took great care of our belongings. He even went the extra mile and had our updated Bill printed for us when we came to gather our bags!!! Great customer service. Paul was an absolute delight and made us feel like we were VIP. Thank you guys for a great experiance!!

BUYER BEWARE: PUBES IN SHOWER - EXPENSIVE INTERNET - COLD, STALE, EXPENSIVE BACON!!! Dark pubes found upon my first entrance into the shower (they weren't mine). No free Wifi? WTF, that is so last year to be nickeled-and-dimed over an internet connection. Ordered an $18 burger and they forgot the bacon. When it came, it was old, cold, and stale. I asked when it was cooked and they didn't know! That bacon needs to be hot and still sizzling at this price. At a glance, the hotel seems nice, but after a little time, you'll find it's aging, poorly managed, and poorly maintained. Subpar fitness room. Like working out in a storage closet. I don't know why I'm giving them 1 star. Maybe because I had a smooth check in. Pretty nasty hotel.

I found the staff, executive lounge, and most importantly the food and service in the bar area to be professional, thoughtful and extremely friendly. I was traveling by myself and the hotel was hosting a very large group who monopolized the bar area with the exception of a few seats. No bother, as I've been on the other side of that coin. Despite the staff being overwhelmed, I have nothing but good things to say. Great wine by the glass selection and make sure you take (bartender) Lisa's advice about the menu items. When she, and the other nice ladies, say get the mussels - GET EM! They are fantastic and the addition of the lamb sausage is superb. My 2 cents. Greg T.

This can be a great place to stay depending on what you are looking for. If you like a clean hotel room with courteous staff (almost disgustingly courteous), then this place gets five stars. I like it when I can see vacuum marks on the floor when I walk in. Shows they vacuumed. No mold was found. Guess some rooms had mold in the bathrooms from other Yelpers. I guess I was fortunate to get a spotless room with a great view. If you want a place that is convenient to everything, this place gets five stars. Close to the Marta and Lenox Station. It is attached to the mall which has shops and restaurants. Great location. Couldn't ask for more really. If you are here for business (or even pleasure), be forewarned that they charge for internet. This is the reason why it is four stars versus five. I came here on a business trip. While my hotel is reimbursed, I feel being charged the exorbitant amount that they should throw in the internet for free at least. But the lobby has free wifi. Bring a laptop or iPad because it is free for a day. They recognize your IP address and device. With any business trip, a trip to the bar is a must. I am a beer drinker. Disappointing selection. Really? Coors Light on tap? With Terrapin and Sweetwater Brewing Companies here locally, you should promote local! Most people I know have a travel policy - eat and drink things you cannot find at home. I can find Sam Adams at a flipping gas station. I will NEVER drink Coors Light. I'd rather die from dehydration before that touches my lips. All in all, it was a decent stay. Nice fitness equipment. I did not notice any noise like other guests have noticed and I was next to the elevators. I would not be opposed to coming back here again, for either business or pleasure. If I do come here for business, I'd recommend bringing a MiFi or Jetpack to connect to the internet. Working down at the bar for the free wifi is not worth it.

We stayed at the JW Marriot in Buckhead while attending a CrossFit competition. The hotel is located in a very nice part of Atlanta. There is a huge mall (Lenox Mall) that connects to the hotel and there are tons of nice restaurants and bars in the area as well. The Hotel itself is very pretty. Our room was nice and clean and very comfortable. I can't review on housekeeping because they never came to our room in the 2 nights we stayed. This was due to a miscommunication between the front desk and myself. I forgot to remove the privacy tag on the door even though I asked them to please tidy the room while I was out to dinner. Oh well. There is a Starbucks in the hotel and I was happy to see that they don't have a hotel upcharge like other locations do. Front Desk and Concierge was also very helpful and courteous. I would definitely stay at this hotel again if I visit Atlanta.

This is the place to stay in Buckhead if your a Marriott person. Better than the Ritz up the street even if they were equally priced.

I've stayed here a couple of times but this past weekend made me decide to never stay here again! I may not stay at any Marriott property after this experience. My very expensive blazer was stolen. I'm very disappointed. I took pride in using Marriott as my hotel of choice being that I travel so often for work. There's no accountability for staff. I was told my room attendant was a grade a employee, with the assumption she wouldn't take it. Clearly I don't have it and I know where I left it! I'm so upset and disappointed. I'll take my business to smaller boutique hotels from now on! Beware, there are a couple of others on Yelp with complaints of theft.

I usually come here for conventions. Take time to find parking or you may end up paying $20 like I did. The hotel is big, spacious, and clean. When you walk onto their campus, you are greeted by professional staff (valet drivers running back and forth). Once inside, you will find helpful people to direct you where you need to go. There are many rooms for my conference. Bathrooms are clean, and there are plenty of seats for resting/waiting. During the daytime, I like to walk downtown and look for hole-in-the-wall restaurants. I probably wouldn't walk around outside alone in the evening.

Rooms are nice but the elevators up/down signals are not readily visible, so you miss a few. Hotel staff are very friendly. Hotel joins a big Mall which is nice. Garage parking does not connect directly to the hotel. One has to carry luggage down a flight of stairs and go outside to the entrance of the hotel to enter through the front of the hotel. Since I was by an elevator it was very noisy. Not only from people but the elevator itself was loud Thus this hotel is a little below what I would call a JW Marriott. When a hotel breaks away from Marriott's normal corporate profile it makes this road warrior wonder what else is missing.

I am so disappointed with my stay here. I have stated at many JW's and this is by far the worst. I was given multiple excuses but no effort to rectify their situation. This is a truly unacceptable stay for this level of business. Save yourself and check into a real four star hotel!

From the moment I checked in, to the moment I checked out 3 days later, I felt like an ALLSTAR and my home away from home! When you enter, you are warmly greeted and doors open and they point you in the direction you need to go. They take time to know your name and make you feel special. The rooms were amazing, the staff were amazing and the room service was amazing! Even the courtesy shuttles were amazing! I will definitely stay here again.

I'd definitely stay again, especially if I can score a deal on Priceline. Pluses: *Nicely renovated rooms with great views of the city *Great location. Attached to Lenox Square, meaning there are lots of dining options at hand. *Quality toiletries *Super staff! Extremely hospitable and helpful. *Nice pool area with great locker rooms. Minuses: *No free wifi or parking. I can forgive a little because I did get a really low rate on Priceline. *Extremely thin walls. We were next to Loud Family with Screaming Kids and had to call the front desk as they were still at it after 11pm. To their credit, the hotel responded promptly. But ask ahead forbad quiet room if you need one. *Room was not made up at all. We were in and out all day and housekeeping didn't make it to us. All in all, the location and staff are top notch and I'd definitely stay again.

HotLanta Fabulous! We really enjoyed our stay here. Thanks to Priceline, we upgraded to something a little nicer than we would usually get. This is a nice business-oriented hotel adjacent to Lenox Mall in Buckhead. The area is nice, but lacks decent dining choices within walking distance. There is a MARTA stop right across the street which could either be a positive or negative, depending on your point of view... The room was very large for a King/single. It's nice to sit on the bed and not be able to kick every wall! Our room had a nice view of the downtown skyline. Decor and amenities were all very nice. We took advantage of the pool both days of our visit. It is a large pool that is perfect for relaxing or swimming laps but not for practicing that "Triple Lindie" high dive you've been working on. The hot tub was great! We really had no significant complaints at all with the hotel property. All the staff we encountered were very friendly & helpful. He had a nice drink at the lobby bar, but did not try either of the two restaurants. Minus one star for the nickel & dime aspect. Parking was a screw job, $20.00/day. Wi-Fi was $10.00/day. All in all, a great place to stay if you can get a deal. But please, next time I stay there, leave your kids at home if they don't know how to be quite when I want to go to bed. Don't make me call security again, or remove your "do not disturb" sign in the morning....

What could be finer than a little stay-cation over a long weekend in your own city? Oh, how about staying at the JW Marriott? Yeah, that'll suffice. As soon as we pulled up to the entrance, a valet had descended on the car, taken the keys from my boyfriend and whisked it off to the garage. And the friendly concierge checked us in quickly as well as telling us what time breakfast was served on the second floor. When she asked if it was a special occasion, our response was, "No, just for fun. Why not?" Our suite was on the 14th floor with a view of Lenox Rd and the top of the parking lot next to Lenox Mall. Not bad, by any means. And the suite itself was very nice: king size bed with half of the pillows in Atlanta piled on top of it, giant bathroom with separate glassed in shower and bathtub, full sized closet, flat screen TV, etc. Works for me! Because of the excellent proximity to both Lenox and Phipps mall that the JW provides, we made plans to meet our friends for dinner and drinks nearby at Twist (then Tavern) and walked both there and back. Even with the ever present road construction, the walk took 10 minutes tops. The bed was super comfy, however, the pillows were feather down and pretty much collapsed as soon as you laid your head down. Oh well, next time I know to bring my own. And breakfast the next morning was quite nice. We decided on the buffet which had everything you could possibly desire: an omelet station, a waffle maker, oatmeal, biscuits and gravy, sausages and bacon, salmon, cheese and deli meat, fresh fruit, cereal, milk, juice, bagels, toast, little cinnamon swirl pastries, mini fruit danishes, banana bread and muffins. Oh, and Starbucks coffee. Neither of us partook of all this, of course, but it was an excellent spread to choose from and after an omelet, a slice of banana bread, fruit and coffee, I was certainly full and happy. Even though we stayed in town over the holiday weekend, I can't think of a better way to still "get away" for a bit. And the JW was an excellent choice to really feel pampered and classy. One note: beware the valet parking fee, it's $32 per day and I don't know if it includes in-and-out privileges.

I would say this hotel is worth 2.5 rather than 3. I was always under the impression (based on a stay many years ago in Florida) that the JW Marriott was the more upscale version of a Marriott. True to form this hotel is a beautiful venue and on the whole their customer service is sparkling. Random people greet you or if you look lost they ask if they can help so I can't complain there. There are two things in particular that took me by surprise however. The first was my initial check in. I arrived before my colleague who had made the booking, normally the first person who arrives checks in and that's that. When I tried to check in I was told I had to wait for my colleague to arrive before I could check into my room. I explained that my colleague was arriving in another 4 hours time but my check in person insisted that I had to wait and that I should amuse myself for 4 hours in the bar or the Mall next door. She didn't seem to think this was a problem (which dumbfounded me) and her only other suggestion was to pay full price for a new room so that I could check in and get some rest after my 10 hour flight. Fortunately I was rescued by another check in person who heard what was going on and I got to my room. The second problem was sound proofing, for an upscale hotel they certainly didn't think the noise situation through. I had two rooms during my stay (the first one was next to the elevator and the ice machine) and in both you could really hear people talking in the corridors. They weren't even shouting, just talking but you could hear it all clearly. My third gripe is that the restaurant appears to close at 7pm so you're then forced to grab something to eat in the crowded noisy bar. This place is certainly better than the Embassy Suites where I stayed last time but next time I will be trying the Westin.

I have Marriott Rewards Gold status, so I'll write this review from that standpoint. N.B. I'm also SPG Platinum, and prefer SPG. I stay in Atlanta on a weekly basis. It's a beautiful hotel. I've stayed here before and after the big renovation and I do like the changes they've made. It does feel very ritzy. The lobby also shrinks the size of the hotel by offering areas to just hang out. I like the idea of having somewhere else to go stare at my laptop screen in front of a beer. That being said, the lounge hor's d'oeuvres are wonderful! They just end service earlier than competing hotels in the neighborhood, namely Westin Buckhead (which also doesn't lock its lounge). They used to have better breakfast in the lounge, like egg white fritattas and smoked salmon and parfaits and waffles and the usual american buffett. Now it's american buffet with continental options like pastries. Rooms are great, as Gold I got a wonderful room upgrade. BIG room, nice separate shower, and the toiletries are a step above. It feels clean, and they adhere to providing specifications I have on my profile. It's a nice convenient location as it's attached to the hotel (food court) and has a lot of service options. Have not had spa. Have used the great gym, with like at least 10-15 machines, full circuit, free weights, pool with lockers and showers, etc. They're friendly at the front and gladly helped print and fax a couple important documents for me. They were ready and waiting for me to check in. I was running late and finished checking in and even made it on time to Yoga class nearby!

As others have mentioned, this hotel is in a great location. It is connected to Lenox Mall - very high end shopping. Also near several freeways, easy to head to other areas of Atlanta. This is an extremely nice hotel. Many reviews have complained about the service. We had 4 people staying in 2 rooms. The staff was great, very helpful and friendly. 2 reasons I'm not giving this hotel 5 stars. 1) no in-room Internet access. Not wireless or wired. If McDonald's can give free WIFI the JW can step it up too. You can only get it in-room if you pay an additional $13 a day. 2) hotels charges $20 per car per night. We had 3 cars and stayed 4 nights. That added $240 to our bill, a bit excessive in my opinion. Most likely would stay again if traveling with only 1 car.

Great hotel. Beautiful rooms. Clean. Spacious. Nice-smelling bath products. EXCEPTIONALLY nice staff (front desk, valet, bellhop, etc...). This stuff was five-star. Things I didn't like. Paying for internet. This really is a huge pet peeve of mine. I am not the 1%. I wasn't staying in this fancy hotel for pleasure. I was there to work. And it's hard to work without internet and the fact that I'm paying for it with my own money sucks. Ahhh, that feels good to get that off my chest. Also the people who work at the Starbucks downstairs are just rude. TWO different people in two different days (so it wasn't just someone having a bad day). I had to wait for someone to finish her cell phone call before she'd help me (and trust me, it wasn't an emergency sort've call - I'm empathetic - this was just a chat). The other downside is the price of drinks at the bar. OKAY...I know, I'm at an overpriced hotel lounge bar BUT $13 for a crappy glass of red wine or $13 for a cocktail that tasted like koolaid was a bit ridiculous. Hmmm, maybe with all of these negatives I should give it 3-stars. But the location (steps from MARTA and connected to a nice shopping mall) save the day.

I attended an alumni event here over the weekend, so this review is for the sales and catering components of JW Marriott, and not for a hotel stay. I gotta say, these folks really bent over backwards to make sure my group was well taken care of. They were neat, professional, and courteous. The food was also very tasty, and nicely presented. I'd happily look at doing an event here again.

A nice Marriott, all things considered. And the location adjacent to the mall is convenient. Maybe not surprising, it was a bit expensive when you include parking and internet. For my personal, single travel, I probably would have stayed somewhere else if it weren't for the collocated event I was in town for. I am always annoyed when the concierge lounge is closed on a weekend, but they raised my spirits with a complimentary glass of champagne from behind the check-in desk. For a pretty modest expense, that was a really nice touch. It is clean, the staff is professional, you will not be disappointed.

This is a great hotel and a fun location to stay in while on business in Atlanta. OMG---They have an excellent Marriott concierge lounge with a great breakfast. The gentleman who works there has been there about 3000 years and treats his guests and the lounge with a old-time Southern passion. The rooms are nice and the location convenient to downtown, Buckhead and even the "up North corridor". Generally, the hotel bar is a busy place and has great service. The Lennox Mall is adjacent and a short walking distance for shopping, nightlife and a variety of restaurants.

Motorcycle convention/party in the hotel. Staff was polite enough to move our room late at night to get away from the noise of the parking deck from the motorcycles. A lot of drunks in the lobby...and we had small kids with us. They were nice enough to comp us breakfast due to our issues. Use name your own price using Priceline.com for a better deal than what we got.

Love staying here and will forego the downtown scene to come out to Buckhead. Staff goes above and beyond. Lobby bar stayed open late to accomodate us coming back from the ballgame. Furnishings in great shape and restaurant breakfast always a good starter.

I expect more from a JW. The lobby is overly perfumed which makes it unappealing to spend any time there. There is mold, MOLD in the bathroom shower and the bathroom ceiling is bubbling. I will not recommend this hotel.

I stayed in this hotel for 12 weeks while on a project, so I think I'm pretty well qualified to talk about the "J-Dub", as I and my co-workers have christened it. Room Quality: 8 of 10. The rooms are, of course, a step up from those in a regular Marriott, especially the marble-adorned bathrooms and showers. Every room comes with an iPod radio, so you don't have to wake up to a crazy ass buzzer every morning if you don't want to. Concierge levels get a few extra acoutrements, like a robe and a separate bath/shower. The views of downtown ATL on the north side of the hotel are pretty cool, especially at night. However, I would say that it seems just like a souped-up Marriott, and not anything way above and beyond what you would expect normally. Location: 9 of 10. Buckhead is pretty much the nicest part of ATL. My project happened to be in Buckhead so it was pretty convenient for me; if you work in Midtown or Downtown, try the Marquis or Renaissance if you want to stick w/Marriott properties, as traffic can be a bitch in the ATL. Around the JW, there are a lot of trendy, professional-type bars where you can chill with your co-workers or meet singles; since I have a girl, I only did the former :-) The best part is that it's located next to Lenox Square, unquestionably the best mall in the ATL metro area. Service: 7 of 10. This may be the place where I have a couple of qualms with Marriott. The front desk is very nice, and hooked me up with concierge status a couple of times before I actually accumulated the points to get it on my own. Likewise, the concierge lounge staff is generally pretty friendly; all of the business travelers get to know Maurice by name. The only part I have a problem with is the maids. They clean the rooms well, but can be intrusive when you don't leave by a certain time; what's worse, they talk shit about the guests in Spanish, assuming they haven't spent 5 years in LA and don't know the language. Overall, I recommend this hotel for the solo business traveler who needs a central location with good amenities; if you are a casual traveler or have a companion, I'd say stay somewhere else, as the service in the hotel is geared towards working professionals who are only in their rooms 6 hours a day.

An amazing hotel. It's like staying at the Ritz but, not paying the Ritz price. The best part about this place is that it's connect to the Lennox mall so you don't have to go very far for entertainment. Exceptional service and wonderful bedrooms.

Nice hotel. I visited here about 2 years ago. All I remember....the beds are comfortable and the staff was exceptional. The door man was soooooooooooo polite. Southern hospitality for sure. I would like to visit here again. The nice thing about this hotel was that its adjacent to the Lenox mall. So you didn't have to go far to people watch. :)

Very helpful staff, attended a conference here in march 2012, stayed for 5 days, room service was expensive (as always) but the service was great! Front desk and concierge was helpful, I had my car in valet parking (though one could park it themselves at the mall and it would probably be free). I am typically a Hllton hotel person (have points) and have an account with Marriott, but my points have not updated into my Marriott account?? I have to go through all this stuff to get it taken care of which is not fun. Also, paying for internet has just gotten old, when the lobby is free, just offer it free when the room per night is more than $150. That's what kept it from being a 5 start, else I would have given it that many! Would definitely come back here when in Atlanta.

After further contemplation, I'm "this close" to taking a star away because the concierge failed to tell me about many of the really good restaurants that are in the neighborhood i.e. he sent me to some pretty ordinary places. The bellhop was more help.

Grade: B

The JW. is a one of a kind Luxury Hotel. Its attached to the legendary Lennox Square Mall.. The hotel has an High End Resturant called the Lennox Grille, that serves amazing Asian Fusion Crusine. All around if your into interactment with the chefs, coming to the morning buffet is the way to go.

  • Des D.

Love staying here and will forego the downtown scene to come out to Buckhead. Staff goes above and beyond. Lobby bar stayed open late to accomodate us coming back from the ballgame. Furnishings in great shape and restaurant breakfast always a good starter.
