So I have been neglecting this review because well, I am a slacker..... I enjoy JJ Fish much better than I do Yums. I only mention that horrible place because they are in the same plaza/Chevron Gas Station location on Pryor Road. There are absolutely no frills in this place. You come in order wait 20 minutes or longer and get your food piping HOT! But let me warn you. If you do NOT like GREASE then DO NOT STOP HERE! Every damn thing is fried! They don't have to go menu's, although the cashier was willing to let me take a picture of the laminated one for Yelp. i declined but they have the usually wing/fish place types of food. Whole Fried Wings, Fish (Whiting, Tilapia, etc.), Philly Steaks or Chicken, Fries, Onion Rings, Cole Slaw, Whole Dill Pickles ($1.07), Cakes by E'Vans. I usually get the 4 piece wing dinner for $4.86 or so. It comes with 4 whole fried wings (Big pieces like a real chicken), Seasoned fries, Two pieces of either stale or toasted White bread and some Cole Slaw (I never eat it so I don't know if it's good or not). To my surprise, they also offer Chicken Gizzards for those of you that are interested. The food can some times be a little too greasy for me but it's nothing 10 napkins can't take care of! This plaza has a lot of people there. It can be hard to park and even harder to get out. At night it seems to get worse and this location is super busy then. Some people may ask you for money so just be aware of that. I wouldn't necessarily say this is a great spot to sit and have lunch but it is much better/safer than the other restaurant in this plaza. They don't seem to have a sense of making sure none of the vagrants are harassing their customers. jjfishchicken.com

Stopped by today for lunch and this restaurant was packed so I decided to order the southern staple -- fried chicken wings. EPIC DISAPPOINTMENT. The food was not spiced and the wings were literally gone in 3 bites. They were microscopic. The lemonade was very tasty and the fries were nothing special.

This is one of my favorite spots to grab something to eat. The staff are kool and funny. They have the homeless cleaning outside and the lobby to make sure they are not messing the costumers. They are friendly to the parking lot security and he or she are always in the area. I like the carrot cake, but I think most people like the red velvet. I'm guessing that is a southern thing.

I wrote a review for this restaurant but it got deleted for some reason so here goes again. I cant believe how awesome this place is. It is so incredible good. The first time i went i got the seafood platter with a side of hushpuppies and onion rings. The platter had two pieces of whitting, catfish nuggets and four huge shrimps. There was also a big pile of awesomely seasoned fries that came with it along with a small cup of creamey, spicy cole slaw. The portions are huge here. The hushpuppies are to die for. I have not tasted hushpuppies this good in years. They are the old school kind that are just so scrumpciously good. Combine them with tartar sauce and they are off the charts. The second time i went here i got the ocean perch. I never realized how good perch was until i had it here the other day. I got the hushpuppies again and onion rings also, The onion rings are delicious too. Everything here is fried so if you want something grilled you are out of luck. Also, the place is cleaned and well maintained with very, very friendly, caring employees. I'm glad i gave this place a chance and you should too.

I'm in a legit food coma currently over this food. This is effing amazing and the best food I've ever had. There is a serious no share policy when around this food so I wouldn't go here on a date you get in monster mode

Everything is fried. Everything. :-( Fish is flavorful. Chicken is bland. Service is poor. I've been there about 4X and most likely will not return.

I just went there and got lunch a few mins ago, and this food had me soooo sick! I only had a few bites of the corn nuggets and tilapia sandwhich and began violently heaving!!! And... it was so thick, it would not come back up!!! I had to call my doctors office! I am actually at work all this time, and my food is trying to come back up! Now that the food wouldn't come up, it had to go down, right? SO... now my stomach is cramped up in pain! How bout, I am STILL trying to get someone at JJ Fish and Chicken on Pryor Rd to even ANSWER THE DAMN PHONE! YOU COULD BE CONTAMINATING THE COMMUNITY. IF YOU HAVE ACCESS TO THIS REVIEW TODAY, LET THEM KNOW!!! UNLESS I START FEELING WORSE, IM GOING BACK TO THEM AND LET THEM KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON

This place has amazing chicken fingers! OMG! They make everything to order so don't expect to be in and out quick. It is worth the wait! This is our go to joint when needing evening munchies! We live in grant park now so can't go as often as we use to, but it's still a favorite! Cole slaw and fries are both awesome! It's always packed and sketchy folks around the gas station but the food is AWESOME!!!! We have only had the chicken finger plate but they are huge and amazing! The staff is always nice and they try to be as fast as possible!!! This is definitely a place to try out if you are in the area!!! Lock your car doors though!!!

JJ's SHOWED me. I had been side-eyeing this place for a couple of months. I always saw lots of cars and traffic, but I admit, due to the sketchy surroundings (it's the gas station next door, I have come to figure out that gives JJ's a bad rep) I had no interest in going near the place. Last night, I wanted something different, and couldn't think of anything. I did a Yelp search, and up popped JJ's, as usual. Mmmm. Fried fish. I took a Yelpers advice, and called. I got the 3pc. Perch with Corn Fritters. The lady was friendly, and said 15 minutes. By the time I fought through traffic, it was ready. I walked in, and the place was SPOTLESSLY CLEAN! It smelled nice, tables nice, floors clean, no riff raff hanging around, and they even have a sign up supporting the kids in school program: weekdays from 8am-2pm school age kids are not allowed to loiter in the restaurant. I appreciate that. I was waited on by the owner, herself! How do I know? Because her earrings said, "BOSS". I was honored. She was quite nice to me. When I got home, and bit into my perch, it was like HEAVEN! I haven't had fish this good since I left Texas 18 years ago! Good LAWD AMIGHTEE! I am HOOKED, SOLD, and DELIVERED! The CORN FRITTERS are the right size and delicious, too. My new spot! TIP: You absolutely MUST CALL AHEAD! (even if you plan to eat inside)

We ordered 2 chicken and gizzards meals on the phone but when we got there they made us chicken and shrimp. We told them it was alright and we'd just take it but they gave us 6 wings no charge along with the gizzards and shrimp. The food was great especially the shrimp.

I had such high hopes. I finally had the opportunity to stop at the ghetto famous JJs. Blah. That was the first word that came to mind street only one bite of my fried fish. All I tasted was fresh flour. What happened to the seasoning man? The grits where good but I didn't come for the fries... They had plenty of seating inside, a small tv in the corner, and very little parking.

I have eaten food from here before, and it was really good. So I don't know what happen this time around. The whole catfish plate that I bought was fried with to much flour and had no seasoning. Seem like it had been sitting in a barrel of oil, it was to soggy. The fries were day old. Should have sent the food back to JJ, but I didn't. Decided not to get take out from JJ again! Waste of time and money!

Had a craving for some fried fish..ended up here. Ordered the fish combo with whiting and scallops, and hush puppies instead of fries. They give you so much food....currently I'm attempting to finish but honestly don't know if I'll make it. Oh, and I got a frozen lemonade too....so good! Food was fresh and service was quick. First time here and will definitely return. I live downtown....so the 15 minute drive was definitely worth it in my eyes.

Stop by there today the one thing they deafly have to do is SEASON the food....be for cooking it, they cannot rely on the flour a long, you must use basic salt and pepper....went to the one on Wesley Chapel......and I tried to contact them about my order b/c they give us the wrong order, we could not reach them the phone numbers listed online and on the menu were out of service.. WTF! Whoever heard of a restaurant not having phone numbers where you can contact them never again.
