This is a cool place. I was spoiled growing up by an awesome Moroccan restaurant, so coming here the bar was set high. Everyone (unless you're a tot) must order a five course meal. So you order your entree of choice and the rest comes family style. Here's the breakdown: -Harrira/lentil soup: This is yummy and a nice way to start the meal. It'll come with a bowl of sweet shredded carrots and a gravy boat of spicy sauce, not to mention bread. Drink your soup (no spoons!) and dip the bread. -Salads: There's a nice bean spread (similar to hummus), carrots, eggplants, greens and so on. Also good when scooped with bread. -B'stila: The best part of Moroccan food. This version is cornish hen, baked with almonds and spices inside phyllo dough and dusted with powdered sugar and cinnamon. This one you will need forks for, and it's just divine. -Main entree: Yes, it's pricey here. But you're getting a lot of food, so don't be too dissuaded by the costs of the entrees. Compared to other five course Moroccan places, Imperial Fez has a very large menu loaded with options. The fact that every person gets their own entree instead of doing a family style main dish is a plus as well. Just note that the waiters will try to coax you into a more expensive dish. :) -Dessert: Honestly was overwhelmed by a large plate of fruit and baklava. Would've much preferred they stuck with the tea and a smaller dish. We were all way too stuffed by this point. Their food was pretty tasty but not the best ever. Bellydancers were also neutral in my book. This is definitely a good celebration spot (there were a TON of birthdays going on) but not in the budget or atmosphere for a solo or casual dinner.

We came on the 4th of July right when the restaurant opened for the evening at 6pm so it wasn't really crowded and was a bit quiet. The belly dancers do not come out until 7:30pm or so. The last time I came to this place was about 20 years ago. Coming back twenty years later, the food was just as good as I remember. At first glance the dinner menu seems a bit pricey but when you consider all that you get for the price, it's not a bad price at all. If you just a want a quick single dish item so that you can get in and out, you may want to try another spot. If you want a more authentic multi-course Moroccan dinner experience that makes you feel like you just walked into Morocco when you come through the doors, this is your place. My favorite dish was the pastry dish stuffed with chicken and some other things; sweet and savory. I don't smoke hookah so I can't really comment on that but I know that it was an option if you went out to the lounge area. I believe you could bring your tea and dessert out there as well to enjoy with your hookah. The belly dancer Irina was amazing! I think I'm in love! I didn't get to see the fire dance but maybe next time. Not sure about the 2.5 star overall rating but my experience was about what I expected it to be. Some people complained in their reviews about how long the food takes to come out but again, this is a 5-course meal in Morocco and the time is explained on their website so if you are not prepared to sit and eat for about 2 hours go elsewhere. If you aren't in a rush, come here, RELAX, eat, drink, and be merry!

Extremely disappointed by this establishment as well as entire staff. Horrible service & terrible hookah are only a few of the reasons why I will not be coming back. As soon as I arrived, I was not greeted by a single host or server. On a Friday night, you would expect someone to seat you, right? Wrong. I had to forcefully stop a server to get assistance. Finally, I sit. 5 minutes go by.. I watch servers walk past me.. 12 minutes go by.. After not being greeted at all, my date arrives & sits right next to me. We chat.. We patiently wait.. We stare just to get recognized. It felt unwelcoming. Long story short guys, our server we had to race down completely forgot we were even there. Hookah was taken back 3 times due to the dirty taste & at the end was not made properly. By the way, our server checked on us ONCE during our 2 hour date & brought our check back 30 minutes after asking for it. Don't waste your money or time friends.

This place is horrible overall. I came here for a friends birthday and wished for better service... The food is extremely mediocre AND VERY OVERPRICED. We had a large group dine here on Saturday seeing how that they are known to accompany large groups. This was an extreme FAIL. Our dinner lasted beyond a long 3 hours. Everything came out so slowly. Drinks were taken in the beginning and served 30 minutes later. Small appetizers trickled their way out but the entrée took nearly 2 hours! The meal was not enjoyable. Everything here is so overpriced. A pitcher of mojito is $50. My lamb shank was $55 and all it came with was the shank. I could have went to any other restaurant and gotten the same thing for 1/2 the time and price with some kind of side item. How can I enjoy a salty piece of lamb with no veggies or rice? Soooo overpriced. BEYOND OVERRATED. My bill was $81 with the group gratuity already included. So not worth it. I had 1 drink and 1 entrée. A lot of misleading items from Yelp because they took several things off the menu. I advise you all to spend your money elsewhere!!

Venue: Imperial Fez Decor: Middle Eastern(ish) Service: Friendly Environment: Cozy Food: Lamb, Chicken, Fish, more Prices: (see Debbie Downer) Debbie Downers: Flat out..the Price Conclusion: The concept is there. Right on Peachtree is Imperial Fez. Belly dancing, lamb chewing, birthday fiascoing, comfy pillow seating good time. The experience is good, the food is good but the only knock (but a major one) is the price. It does not add up. Don't get me wrong, the décor and the setup is nice inside. However, you can go to Café Istanbul and get the same service, food for ¼ of what you are going to pay here. They don't rush you out the door per se. For a similar type place, definitely had better. Overall: D

Mediocre, forgettable food and extremely expensive for its category: think of an evening at Longhorn, except you ended up paying $100/person. Service was also unfriendly, perfunctory and brutally slow.

Raff B. responds back to my review in a passive aggressive tone first apologizing that he is sorry that I didn't not enjoy my experience on valentine's day and that they did serve 500 dinners. Ok so that means by the time I got there the dishes I ordered should've been perfect, well seasoned, and all the kinks worked out right? Still no explanation on the food. He then goes on to say some of those diners posted positive reviews on YELP. I really don't care about the experience they paid for I care about the lackluster one I PAID FOR! I guess he has blinders on when it comes to the negative reviews that are posted that are parallel to my experience. **shrugs** seems like to me if owned a restaurant I would focus on the complaints and improve. If everyone is saying it's over priced and needs more flavor and a side of complimentary rice, I WOULD DO SOMETHING ABOUT THAT THAT!!! if you have people saying they have actually gone to the countries that serve this style/type of food and it's no where close it, you should be speaking with them and learning about there experiences in some of these other countries not being snide (I will post his remark.) In closing he says my criticism is more hurtful than helpful. Hurtful? Who wants weave flung in their face? Who wants weave wefts/strands falling in their food? I've been to plenty of places that offer belly dancing girls and those women were all 10's from head to toe. they were personable and made the evening an experience! If this restaurant was in vegas, new York, parts of California their 30 year run would've been cut prematurely to 5-6 years tops. But because atlanta isn't that "cultured" and it's starting to become more of a melting pot, dude you can't rely on dusty carpets, jeweled colored dated throw pillows, mediocre in attractiveness belly dancers, and over priced bland food to keep you open another 30 years! Amongst the social crowd chatter If it wasn't for "events" birthdays, anniversaries, etc and atlantas mass restaurants being on repeat (ex. 101 thai places, 101 hibachi places, 101 steak houses, etc) this place wouldn't get any business. I only went because it was valentine's day and my companion and I have eaten just about everywhere in atlanta. Never came to imperial fez because I've always heard "it isn't all that..", "it's over priced.." "the food isn't all that good.." "the belly dancing is just ok..." "don't waste your time, order a gyro from agora and keep it moving.." so when I do finally go and talk my companion into checking it out because it was his first time there as well, it was everything people have told me. Lol

A girlfriend and I went out on a Thursday night for dinner. Neither of us were expecting much but were pleasantly surprised! Everyone chooses an entree which includes a 5-course meal. We enjoyed every course and had a great time watching the dinner show. There was a good crowd and we chose to sit on the little padded seats which were very comfy. Our server was great and very attentive despite being pretty busy. I would recommend for a special occassion or something out of the norm.

A lot of food, great service and the dancer was wonderful. The floor could be a little cleaner but the experience was great. Probably will come back. It is expensive but you get your monies worth. We were going to go out for a night on the time after dancing but we are just too full. If it's just two then order for one. Each of us ordered and we had plenty more. The happy juice is good from what I saw. They are a great celebratory place. Very romantic or good for groups.

This place is not a Moroccan restaurant. I've been to Morocco. I ate at maybe 15 restaurants between Cassablanca, Rabat, Fez, Marrakech and Meknes. I ate at several riads, a few Berber homes and cooked with a chef in Fez. This place is nothing like what I experienced there. It's more like a Moroccan themed strip club that serves expensive, mediocre food where the girls don't take their clothes off. It's what they have to do to sell Moroccan food in Atlanta because few people here are familiar with the culture. Imperial Fez is something special and unique that caters to the Atlanta party / special occasion crowd. If I'm being honest, the owner probably shouldn't change anything because it's clearly successful and the patrons don't seem to know any better. Our meal for two people was $76 + tip for the waitress and tip for the valet, your only parking option. The Food ----------------------------------------------- They served the food in a traditional order of soup, appetizers (called salads in Morocco), Entree, desert/tea. The soup was ok. The bread was hard and cold. More like a biscotti. Our waitress called it "Moroccan bread" and generally put the word Moroccan in front of a lot of the things were served. All the bread I was served in Morocco was soft, crusty and often warm. The Bastilla was small but good, probably the best part of our meal. They served it as an appetizer and usually it's a main course and larger. The Harissa was very bad. It tasted like tobasco sauce and the carrot salad was equally disappointing. The Chicken tagine was not good. First of all, it didn't actually come out in a Tagine. When I asked about this, I was told they didn't have any tagines. It came out on a white plate and tasted nothing like a real tagine. No preserved lemons and a sprig of rosemary? The desert included fruit and a small pastry with a fruit filling and mint tea, the second best part of our meal. The Seating ----------------------------------------------- The chairs are low and uncomfortable because your eating over your knees. Again, nowhere in Morocco did I sit on anything like that. If you've never been to Morocco, or eaten real Moroccan food, this place probably will seem interesting, exotic and fun. If you have been, it will seem bizarre, uncomfortable, cheesy and disappointing.

Came here for a friends bday, and we ALL had a terrible experience from the moment we sat down. Service was ok, not the best. I ordered a glass of champagne, so the bartendar doesn't need to do much except open a bottle up and pour, but that came out in 20 minutes. The courses were ok,but my MAIN complaint is waiting almost 2 hours for my entrée. I got the tilapia, bc on the reviews here it was positive, but it was something I could make at home but I paid $35 for it here and on top of that, it came 15 min before the restaraunt closed...for a buckhead location with an expensive menu, this place sucks. Don't plan on coming here again.

Awesome food, environment, and staff. Have you ever wanted to eat meat with your hands in a massive tent while half naked women spin flaming swords on their heads? If so, this place is for you, and also you are a man. Had a puffed pastry full of sweet meat that tasted like Moroccan heaven, then a belly dancer with a fire sword actually picked up my (hot) wife by the hand and they danced together while everyone clapped. I've never had that happen at Dennys.

Worst Service Ever. Food is good; not worth the price. Let me start by saying there were two tables who left while we were waiting to be served. Reservation was at 8:30pm. Arrived at 8:25...Not seated to a table until 9:10pm. We did not have water until 9:30. The night went downhill from there: Our server finally came after we asked another server to help us. She not only brought out the wrong item but proceeded to argue with us and state that this is what we ordered. We should have left from there but we wanted to at least try and have a good night. While waiting for the courses to come out there were "belly dancers." I have seen belly dancers before in other countries and in other restaurants. I have no idea what these girls were. They were not belly dancing, they were just moving, oddly and humorously. So I guess if you want a comical night - go for it. The food does take a while to come out, which I knew ahead of time. That was not part of the problem. The problem was the wait to be seated, the staff etc.....Finally after we finished our meals, which were good but not the best or even great we decided to ask our server for the manager. We felt like we had to let them know what was going on. She said she was the manager and asked us what the problem was. We told her about the service, the wait, etc. She was NOT the manager. She lied. Not only did she lie she asked if a discount would make my night better. Not only was that offensive but we were staying calm and polite until then. She also made personal remarks about my date. Not cool no matter where you are. We finally got the real manager and her solution was to bring us a free cake with a candle. FAIL. Don't go here. The concept is great. That's why we decided to give it a shot. Save your money and plan a better birthday/date night/etc.

I don't understand how this place stays open...Worst quality overpriced( and basically disgusting) food I've ever had. Went here for a very special birthday dinner. We decided to go all out and get the most expensive/extravagant dish the Moroccan Surf and turf which included a whole lobster,Cornish hen, quail, shrimp, and filet Mignon on a kabob.. The Lobster: Was cold and chewy...When I asked the server if it was supposed to be cold a and chewy he said "oh no let me take that and fix it" They returned it 2 minutes later the same exact two lobsters but now steaming from the microwave...UNACCEPTABLE!!!! Obviously now 10 times more chewy but hot...wow. The Cornish hen was very dry, The filet mignon was overcooked and also chewy, the shrimp were overcooked as well. The only thing I liked was the quail... But $140 is quite expensive for a few pieces of quail. When I complained again they refused to give me a discount but instead gave me some extra quail..sorry That didn't make up for it guys. You ruined a perfectly well intentioned birthday dinner with horrible food and service. Also not to mention everyone around us was also complaining about their food !! I wouldn't suggest this joke of restaurant to any friend....I wouldn't even wish this horrible experience on my enemies.

I first noticed on Yelp this restaurant was pricey, but I didn't mind as long as the food & entertainment is good. When I first arrived valet parking was available. I walked inside to be seated & noticed the sofa exterior was ripped and lil soiled. Not an eye saw but when your paring Ruth Criss prices you expect top notch. The Decor was setup with an Arabic exotic theme which put you in that mood. When preparing to eat everyone washes their hands together over a bucket while the waiter pours hot water on your hands. Then your giving a towel to dry. 5 course meal are served one items after another 10 mins apart. The first item Lentil Soup was really delicious! The 2nd & 3rd items I could of did without. It consist of humus, black eyes peas & salad. I didn't like the flavor of none of them. Here comes the main entree which is my Lamb-Shank which was tender & tasty but a slight bit over seasoned. It shld have been served with rice to eat with the excessive gravy/sauce. For $55 it shld have been served with atleast rice. My Wife had the Cornish-Hen which was pretty good. The Hot Mint Tea at the end was superb. Overall I enjoyed my experience there. It was something different & I wanted to experience the entertainment. They have live belly dancers during dinner who dances for you. I possibly would not go back there again in the near year future unless I had a Groupon deal or something.

We were in Atlanta two weeks ago for the gift show and one of our vendors suggested going to dinner at the Imperial Fez since it was his favorite Atlanta restaurant. It was also one of our friends birthday, which made the evening more celebratory than a business outing. Since it was a Friday, we called in a reservation for 6 at 8:30 pm. We arrived on time and were immediately greeted and seated. The server showed up a few minutes later and explained the menu options. We opted for the prix fixe (had to google spelling) 4 course dinner, soup, appetizer or salad, main course, then desert. 4 course dinner prices ranged between $35 to about $65 depending on choice of main course. One of the guests was allergic to cinnamon and the server assured her the chef will prepare her appetizer separately and he did. Our orders were taken, then our hands were washed at the table using some kind or kettle and urn, in case we decided not to use utensils and eat with our hands. We received out drinks and then multiple kinds of breads and harissa sauce (extremely spicy hot), followed by our lentil soup, which was a little spicy but delicious. There was no rush and took out time with each course. The appetizer/salads followed and the consensus was more pro-appetizer than salads. Bastila is similar to a puff pastry stuffed with a mixture of chicken, eggs, herbs, nuts, and spices, and slightly dusted with cinnamon and confection sugar. It was an interestingly delicious concoction. Halfway through the meal, the belly dancing show started and lasted about 25 min. They took a break and came back out every 30-40 min. The main course was the best part. Chicken kebabs, lamp shank, cornish hen, and best of all my branzini fish tagine. It was to die for! Desert consisted mint tea, a chocolate/coconut pastry, along with fresh cut exotic fruit including pomegranate, kaki (persimmon), pineapple, etc. We let them know of the birthday and the staff/dancers came out to sing with a candle while playing an arabic version of "happy birthday" song. It was a lot of fun. There were at least 4 other birthday parties in the room. Overall, it took us about 3 hrs to finish our dinner and we didn't feel rushed and had nowhere else to go. Everyone was happy with the choice and decided to come back with more friends in 6 months when we visit again for the summer gift show.

Went to Imperial Fez a night before a major ice storm (yes I know ice storm in Atlanta). We were the only party at the restaurant. Surprised that they did not close. True dedication. They have a huge diningroom and you sit on a low pillow or chair. The food is consumed with your fingers. They provide regular cleaning of hands with hot water and a bowl. Different but very nice experience. We had a 5 course dinner with a soup, salad, appetizer, main and desert. The dishes were all very tasty and well prepared. Across the group of four people we had lamb, beef, ... all great dishes and so varied taste. They have a belly dancer every night. Quite a special experience and they did it just for the four of us. Overall impressed with the service, the food and the effort they put in even on a night when only 4 people showed up for dinner.

I would like to begin by sharing that we dine out often, enjoy great food, unique experiences and visit Imperial Fez 5-6 times a year without a GroupOn Deal or seeking anything less than the quality experience we always receive and have for over 15 years. Moroccan cuisine is unique as the chef blends unimaginable flavors that just excite your taste buds. The servers share Moroccan customs and truly cater to the needs of the guests. The belly dancers are talented and work hard to entertain everyone and the "fire dance" is beautiful. Guests are welcomed to participate and really enjoy the opportunity to learn the dances and feel the vibe of this fabulous culture. B'Stella - the famous appetizer that consists of ground Cornish Hen and a blend of spices that include nutmeg inside a puff pastry dusted with powdered sugar is nothing less than crave able. The Beef Kabobs on our last visit were nothing short of tender, phenomenal and flavorful. My vegetarian husband also really enjoys the Fez and leaves very full. Just express your needs or call ahead so the chef can be prepared to impress you . Our friend tried the Cornish Hen Tagine and enjoyed it so much that she requested the balance to go and she never touches left overs . We dine at restaurants like Hal's, Bone's, Fogo de Chao, Miller Union, STK and so many more of the great selection of restaurants, talented chefs and phenomenal choices Atlanta has to offer. Entree prices at these establishments are very similar in price to Imperial Fez at $20-$35 per entree. Different but without the whole experience of 5 courses along with the show, atmosphere and culture. 2 hours compared to 3-4 hours. I really wish those placing bad reviews would compare apples to apples but unfortunately many diners do not have the ability if they rely on Groupon and other deals to make their dining decisions. We highly recommend Imperial Fez and hope you visit with a open mind and hungry tummy!

This was on the list of Atlanta restaurants to try. So the family and I took my mom here for an early Mother's Day dinner... What an experience! We had a five course meal served traditionally and with live bellydancing entertainment. The food was very tasty and speaking as a fellow bellydancer, the ladies were pretty good. I just wish they had danced to more than 2 songs. Anyways, I'm glad I didn't listen to the other reviews and decided to try this place out for myself. Btw... My mom absolutely LOVED the entire experience and can't wait til the next visit! :)

If I hadn't gotten this as at the Groupon price, I would've been livid. They're extremely overpriced and you can get much better Moroccan food in Marietta for a better value. Our waitress was aloof and disappeared for most of the meal. The food itself was good, but definitely not worth the price. If you've never had Moroccan food before, you might not enjoy the food, because they do a lot of savory/sweet pairings that you might not have ever tried before. I, personally love the B'stella, but it is a chicken dish in filo dough covered in powdered sugar. Definitely not flavors you'd usually mix, but I like it. The belly dancing music is UNBELIEVABLY loud, to the point that you have to shout to be heard by the people you're eating with any wait staff who might come by. Definitely would not go there again.

What an awful experience. The food was bad, the service was iffy, and it was just bad. You have to valet, they are a little off putting when you get there, they sit you at low tables, which I was looking forward to, and then they walk away for several minutes and try to figure out whose table you are. Then drinks are spilled by the waitstaff and rice is overcooked and the chicken is under seasoned. The food was poor at best. Powdered sugar on a savory dish? really? I do not know how this place stays open. #25/365 #25/100

I actually had a good time here. when I walked in the atmosphere was inviting. I was late for dinner due to traffic however was greeted by several staff members who knew where my party was located and immediately ushered me to my seat. I was a little uncomfortable sitting in the chairs that surrounded the low table but I am tall and wore heels so not the fault of the restaurant. I elected to move against the wall so I had full view of the room and the lovely belly dancer. I washed my hands right at the table and was given a towel to hold onto for the remainder of the night. not really my cup of tea as I'm a germaphobe lol. the waiters were all nice and endured my horrible Arabic but they were all attentive and cordial. the appetizers presented were not as good as I'd hoped however it could just be my love of middle eastern foods from other countries why I am so biased. I ordered the beef kabob and the meat was perfectly seasoned and cooked. the meat coupled with the rice, vegetables and mashed potatoes were delicious. although my main dish was great I do not understand why the meal cost $55 maybe I was paying for the experience? I had an apple martini which was definitely missing alcohol. for $10 the least they could have done was add some alcohol to it. there were a total of 4 belly dancers however the one who did the whole fire thing was the best. she definitely put on a show and that was the best moment of the night. overall the experience was good but a tad bit pricey for not so great food. but again I could be biased bc I love Lebanese/Greek/Persian food.

The entertainment and ambience here were very enjoyable. However, I can not say the same about the food. The first course consisted of various vegetable salads. The waiter explained the spices used in each salad but I could only taste a sour vinegar flavor. The lentil soup served with it was just ok. The 3rd course was a sweet meat pastry drowned in powder sugar. Yuck. Left that on the plate. The main course (beef kabobs) was served warm. The kabob was good but not delicious. The dessert was a plate of fruit drowned in syrup. I remember describing it as glorified can of fruit cocktail served on a plate. Unfortunately, the below average meal ended with an above average bill :-/ The ambiance was nice but I do not plan on returning.

Good with groupon, otherwise it's a ripoff. Friendly staff, they explain the culture and dining style in detail. Here you enjoy the Moroccan experience than the course meals. Wednesdays they have fire dances, the dancer usually comes every half an hour to entertain you. Good for every once in a while (only wallet parking , keep change). Overall ,recommend for any groups .

The experience was fun! The dancers actually dance on Indian bollywood songs. The Morrocan food has a very nice and unique flavor. i have had better food but the experience was really good since I was out for a great night with friends. Would recommend this place for a fun evening with a group of friends.

Terrible customer service. I made a reservation for 9:00, we were not seated until 9:25. We saw multiple parties go in to the dining room and then leave a few minutes later. While walking in to be seated a man said to us "don't bother, leave now". The waiter finally brought us water around 9:35 and explained that we could not get the tapas on the menu in the dining room but had to order the $55 four course meal. We asked if we could just order cocktails and the waiter left and never returned. At 9:45 we walked out. I will never return to this restaurant.

I came for the Yelp event and it was fine. Why not 5 stars? Pet peeve but one nonetheless - gotta tell ya, when I am asked for a drink order and I specifically ask what is available (as in what are the drinks that are being served as part of the Yelp activity) and then get a $25 bill for two drinks...anyway, I liked the venue, the food was great and the friendliness of the staff was great. I'd like to come back, buzzed, and enjoy a meal!

I have to update this bc my last experience was so lackluster. The food was not as good as before. Dessert used to be so traditional goodness and now is mostly cut up fruit. The entertainment seemed to really have been cut short and before it went on every 30 minutes. Just left me on my mothers bday feeling like something was missing and I really regretted hyping her up for a unique outstanding night here bc it was certainly not that. Not sure what changed but I hope it changed back....maybe I caught it on an off night who knows.

The overall experience is just okay, but you have to go at least once just to say you've been. The decor is impressive at first glance, but you realize how old the place is the longer you stay. A belly dancer performs throughout most of the main course and it's pretty entertaining. She was also the highlight of the evening for me! (no homo) You do have the option of purchasing a hookah separate from your meal. I was a little disappointed, because: 1) hookah wasn't included in the meal considering how pricey it was 2) the hookah "condom" was kind of bootleg... It kept falling off and flying all over the place every time we picked up the end to smoke and 3) you had to smoke in a section that was separate from the dining area, for which I'll call the "smoking section"...and out of all the people in the restaurant, me and a girlfriend were the ONLY one's smoking. I thought that was odd. The food was okay, but I really didn't have a real appreciation for it. I did enjoy the experience of eating on low sofas, relaxing on big beautiful pillows, and eating with my hands. The service was...okay. Our waiter had a slight attitude and everything took sooo long. Ordering our food took forever, ordering hookah took forever, being moved to a separate section to smoke the hookah took forever, and paying the bill took forever. Oh and did I mention how expensive this place was??? lol Again, everyone should go at least once, but I'm sure you would agree that there is no need to visit again.

I have wanted to go to the Imperial Fez since was I was proably 10. I bought the four person, 5 course dinner on Groupon. If you buy the Groupon deal the restaurant treats it like a gift card. For us, we had a $180 credit to our bill. If you don't want any "fees," you should stick to the $45 entrees and do not order drinks. Overall I had an amazing time at the Fez, but it was not the *upscale* dining experience I was expecting. I'm not going to say it was a bad experience, but there wer a few things that could have been done differntly to make me feel the meal was worth the regular price they charge. I made a reserviation for a Wednesday night at 8:00pm. I have no gripes about the complimentary valet. It wasn't too busy, and the one guy working the valet seemed to have it under control. Leaving we did have a wait a bit, but nothing too long. We were about 10 minutes early for our reservation, and they were more than happy to seat us. However, it took about 10-15 minutes before the waitress spilled a glass of red wine on my husband durning the first dance. I'm not sure if it was a bit of rug that was pushed up or the dancer / waitress combination that caused the glass to be dropped. Thankfully they have all those towels for the meal, so we got him dried off and they replaced his chair. We waited a bit longer for the waitress to finally come over and get us started. She apologized for the spill and offered to have someone run out and buy my husband a new shirt. We declined, and they ultimately took off half the bottle of wine. She then explained the menu, explained how the Groupon works, and took our drink orders. I don't recall if it was before or after this that we were finally brought glasses of water. In that regard, I've had better service at Waffle House. If they want to continue to charge fine dining prices, then they need to get their service on par with that expecatation. However, I will say that the service was better than what I was expecting after reading most of the Yelp reviews. It was just odd to me that we were not acknowledged by the wait staff until after someone spilled wine on my husband. As far as service goes for the rest of the night, I don't think there was anything else that could have been better. The waitress let us know that they all work together, and so anyone could help us if we needed it. I never thought there was any sort of unreasonable delay between courses, and both the waitress and the other server that seemed to be her assistant checked on us regularly to make sure our food was good and that there was nothing else we needed. Just before the soup and salads course was brought out, the staff brought a large silver basin and kettle of warm water to wash our hands. They also gave us a towel for our left shoulder. When the soup and salad was placed on the table the waitress let us know that it is customary to eat with the right hand, but they did provide forks it we wanted them. The first two courses included the lentil soup, which was quite delicious. The large tray of salads were amazing. My personal favorites were the collard greens and the carrots. There were so many very different flavors! Also, even if you are not a spicy fan do try a small bit of the red harissa. It has an amazing smokey flavor with an extra kick after it settles in your mouth. The B'stella was unlike anything I have ever had before. I'm really confused by some of the reviews complaning about the sweet & savory combination. Yes, there is powdered sugar and cinnamon on a phylo pastry filled with cornish hen and almonds. I would have been fine if they brought me one all to myself to eat for dinner. I picked the cornish hen with apples as my entree, and I must say that the appetizer courses made the entree seem bland. It wasn't actually bland. I just seemed that way in comparison. My husband had the lamb shank and and I also tried the red snapper my friend had. All were good, but just not as exciting as the appetizers. The mint tea and dessert was wonderfully simple. The mint tea was incredibly sweet, which I'm not sure if that is traditional or if it has just been Americanized. The dessert consided of a bowl of fruit (apples, strawberries, and cantaloupe) and a small pastry filled with a chocolate and dried fruit mixture. Overall I would go back with another Groupon deal, but I would likely not patron the Fez otherwise. Where they could improve: - Make sure the wait staff makes contact with customers shortly after they are seated. As a new patron, I wasn't sure if we were being ignored or if that is "normal" service. -Don't bring out plastic forks with the dessert (or any) course. -Replace the rugs with a persian rug printed carpet, so waiters are less likely to trip. I could comment more, but Yelp says that I've already said enough. :-P All I would add is that maybe Cafe Istanbul and Fez should have a baby.

In town for a week and I have been dying to try Moroccan food, my husband and I enjoy many other African and Arab cuisines but we don't have Moroccan food available in our hometown. We saw the Groupon available and figured we shouldn't waste the opportunity. I was concerned at first about the many negative reviews we had seen here but most of those fears were quickly dispelled. The place was clean, service was attentive, food was good. It's a bit of an awkward walk in and around to find a host at the host stand, but we had made a reservation and were quickly seated in the main dining room. At our particular section of tables, seating was a little awkward - cushions and tables were at the exact same height, but this wasn't the case throughout the dining room. Our waitress was attentive and explained the menu well, and the food was absolutely delicious. Bread was fresh, meat didn't require a knife, the dessert pastry far outshone the fruit salad but it was fresh fruit. Belly dancing was entertaining as well although the music during the dances was a little loud. I think it is worth mentioning that this place is an experience, not somewhere I would go every Saturday, but for a special occasion I might consider returning. The decor itself is worth The only reason this restaurant wasn't quite 5 stars was the price, it was a fantastic deal with the Groupon, but I'm just not sure it would have been worth the pre-Groupon price of $109 for two people. Yes, there was live belly dancing, we saw 3 dances and they were great, but I have been to much less expensive restaurants and seen longer dancing/live music sets. All that said, the place was fantastic, food delicious, I would certainly recommend this to out of town guests or for special occasions.

WHEN IN DOUBT TRY IT FOR YOURSELF! I came upon this restaurant after a client of mine suggested it as a fun dining and entertainment experience. I was sick of the american food scene and i never had moroccon so i started looking it up ofcourse i came on yelp and i saw mixed reviews mostly saying the food was good but the service was poor... I almost did not go because of this however im glad i did A friend of mine was coming in from out of town so i decided to take her there to hang out on friday night, I made an 8:30p reservation because i was working early the next day i didnt want to leave too late. We ended up getting there around 8:45. We passed the place because like many people on here say its in a tiny strip mall with not a big enough sign so if you dont slow down you wont see it. Fast forward to our entrance, yes it is valet parking but there is no charge so relax but they do accept tips. When we entered the first room it looked like somebodys back porch with a few chairs and lame decor i was confused because no one was there but then i saw a door to the right and when we entered it we saw the hostess stand with a few empty tables behind them i joked to my friend that we were the only ones there but as soon as i said it we looked to the left and saw a cozy dimly lit lounge area with lots of diners! It had morrocon themed decor with pillows and rugs. We were quickly escorted to our tables and given menus. A few min later our waitress came and gave a run down of the morrocon culture and menu. they washed our hands with warm water at the table which i thought was a nice touch and gave us hand towels to clean as we were instructed we will be eating with our hands. We ordered the 5 course meal for two which many people who reviewed complained that it was overpriced but the portions were decent and the food was above average. What i loved most about this place it the belly dancing and music while you eat it keeps you pumped inbetween conversations if your there with good people but at the same time its a laid back atmosphere. If your looking for quick eat and go service your better of sticking to your typical steakhouse and/or seafood restaraunt. You wont see the waiters scurrying around you every minute they give you what you need and go. Which is why you need to go with people who you can laugh and talk with inbetween entertainment so you wont be so focused on leaving. First came the bread soup and salad (all served at once which was weird but hey) It was a morrocon salad with chick pea, olives, beans amongst other things i enjoyed that! the soup however was cold but i didnt mind so much as long as the entree was good. Next came the appetizer it was a curry chicken pate' of some type wrapped in a flakey pastry with confectioners sugar and almonds it wasnt my speed but it was nice to try something different. The entree came and i ordered the fish of the day which was roasted in morrocon spices highly recommended by the ladies at the table next to me. And bwoy did they deliver the Fish was sooooo flavorful it was the right amount of spicy salt and the right amount of sweet. I only wished it came with a starch as opposed to the warm salad it was served with. The dessert was a fruit salad and a tart wasnt crazy about the dessert because i am a dessert girl and i love chocolate but the Tea they served with it was AMAZING!! the best tea ive had a restaurant hands down! so my dinner ended well!! OVERALL great environment good food great entertainment definately going back!! Thumbs up!!

So a friend purchased a Groupon for Imperial Fez and invited me to accompany them. I had heard of Imperial Fez but had never dined there before so I was open for a new experience. The Groupon provided 2 Five-Course dinners for us. We went on a Thursday evening at around 6:30 p.m. Parking is very easy since complimentary valet is provided. We parked and went inside. We stood up at the front of the restaurant waiting on a host to come seat us...it never happened. We stood up front(along with a few other guests) for about 10 minutes before we had to go find someone who worked there to seat us. I should have known this was a bad sign. Anyways....we get seat finally and the server comes out to greet us right away. (Sidenote: All the tables and seats are very low to the ground. Taller people will struggle to be comfortable. It's part of the culture tho...so just be advised. -The 6'3 guy), We started our 5 course dinner and the food was decent. The bread and soup they gave us was great and I ordered the Lamb as my entree. The lamb was very tender and nicely flavored. No complaints there. The only thing I can complain about was big though....it took them FOREVER to bring out each portion of the dinner! We arrived at 6:30 and wanted to get back home by 10(Tryna watch Scandal! lol). It was a lil bit after 9 by the time they brought out our entrees. We asked the server to box up dessert for us b/c we didn't wanna be at the establishment until forever and a day. He gladly did so. We then asked for our check. This is where the nightmare starts.....the server leaves and takes 20 minutes to bring our check. He comes back after another 10 minutes and we give him the credit card for us to pay. They never come back with our credit card. After about 15 minutes, we ask for our card so we can go ahead and leave.....these fools have no idea where our card is. I'm a very patient guy so I tell em to find the card asap. I was more pissed that they were already holding me hostage and i'm missing my favorite TV show b/c of slow service and then you tell me you have no idea where my CC is?! Oh ok...gotcha! They finally find our card after about 15 minutes. They apologize and we pay and leave. I probably won't ever come back here again not because of the food b/c it was decent...but b/c of the service and the unorganized fashion of how everything here went down. Thank God we had that Groupon b/c if the meal we had was regular price(this place is expensive) I would have been beyond pissed! If Im paying this much money for something...the service and attention needs to be stellar...not the case at all. The belly dancing was entertaining...but not entertaining enough for me to ever go back here. Two thumbs down.

I understand why this place has a low rating on here. They need Tabitha to come and help them. Service sucks and I detected some attitudinal dispositions. Perhaps a large party needs more than two servers? Perhaps. We waited far, far too long for food to come out. I mean a person who I was sitting by ordered an appetizer and the dinner was over and he never did receive it or any word on it. It was ridiculous. I don't know why the two large parties who were seated in the area behind us ended up leaving after sitting there for about five minutes each. Odd. This place could be so nice though. With the lights dim, it looks really cool with all the Moroccan decor. I enjoyed the belly dancing (and I found out that you don't need to have a certain kind of body to be a belly dancer...). There were times when it was too quiet in there and then music blasting. I'm not a fan of Moroccan food, so I won't speak on it too much. I will say that I had some spinach and feta in a crispy pastry thingie and just thinking about it makes me wanna change to five stars. But no. I was able to taste some different foods, but like I said, not a fan so it could have been great, but not to me. The website says that no shoes are allowed inside, but you can wear your shoes. Nobody said anything about most of the party with shoes on. Also, don't think you're going to go hangout and not order any food. You need $25 to do that. Free valet parking. The bottom line is service needs an overhaul. Also, this place is expensive.

I would like to begin by sharing that I am Moroccan! so I am pretty critical of good Moroccan cuisine. While visiting family we decided to do a moroccan night for dinner:)We made reservations to avoid waiting upon arrival we were greeted and seated right away at our table the chef/owner came out to greet us as if we were family (Moroccan hospitality)and even told us some jokes in moroccan to get our night started Decor was setup with an Moroccan exotic theme which put you in that mood. The lamb tagine and the couscous reminded me of true Moroccan home cooking.Overall You will not be disappoints from the quality of food, the service, the Moroccan ambience, & entertainment.I will be back!

This review has taken a long time coming. I have been to the Fez several times and have taken a lot of friends there. Every visit to this restaurant has been a pleasant experience; all you need to do is keep an open mind. Remember that you are going to have a Moroccan experience; eating Moroccan food in a Moroccan setting. In most other cultures outside ours in the US, the server will only come to your table to bring the menu, take your order, bring out the courses and then bring out the check. If you need something at other times, you need to get their attention and ask them to come over. So, if you want the standard American service with the server coming over to you every couple of minutes to ask you how you're doing or how you are liking your food, then please do yourself a favor and go to Applebees or something more mundane. If you do decide to try something different and pleasing to the palate, go for the delicious cornish hen appetizer and beef sheesh kebabs at the Imeprial Fez. Oh, and the whole idea of this place is a leisurely experience; so make sure you have a full evening (at least 3-4 hours) to enjoy all that the Fez has to offer. If you're in a hurry and want the courses and the check to be brought out in quick succession and the server hovering over your head, as some other reviewers seem to need, then don't go to the Fez.

I went here for my 28th birthday with friends, and to sum things up, it was ok. The Good: -Atmosphere (I love the floor pillows and cushions in the seats, and anything draped in fabric I tend to like, the ceiling and walls were covered in cloth) -Belly Dancers -Drinks (I got the peach mojito, which I highly recommend, and the mint tea is great) The Average: -Service (Not bad, but not that great either. One of the couples at a table close to us looked like they were having a bad time...their waiter seemed extra slow and un-attentive) -Food (good Moroccan cuisine just a bit greasy for me, I'm vegetarian so I got the vegetable taggine, which wasn't that great...the appetizers and soup were better. My friends had the lamb, and they loved it) The Bad: -Prices (This is what got me--you pay anywhere from $45+ person and you have to share most of the courses except the tea, soup and personal entree. If the single price for a person includes all courses, then why do 3 people have to split the appetizers and dessert?) -Dessert (this was AWFUL! The mixed fruit salad tasted like it had been marinating in their fridge wayyy too long, and they only gave us 4 pieces of baklava-ish tiny sweets, no one wanted the fruit salad) And note to anyone who want to go on their birthday: they don't do anything for your birthday--no song, dance, dessert, happy birthday...nothing. Which was fine with me since I don't like the attention...but if you are expecting it, then go somewhere else. If they lowered the prices and gave each person their own 5 course meal, I MIGHT return...

I agree that this restaurants is a whole package and people, who are going there, have to plan to spend there at least four hours. Yes, they are different: waiters do not come meaningless interfering a conversation like in other restaurants, where waiters even ask to pour a glass a water. Of course, taste of food is different, but why people accept that Japanese or Chinese food taste differently but do not want to accept this right for Moroccan food? They offer "show bellydance" and this is one of a very few restaurants that still have a strict routine of performance instead just noodling around the tables asking for tips.

I came here tonight really wanting a great experience with my friends. I am not entirely disappointed but enough to write the review. I understood with bellydancing the place would be loud... but it became completely obnoxious. It wasn't the bellydance music. I swear we heard that da#n birthday song maybe 10 or more times. It was piercing and horrible. The first few times were ok... and by the double digits, we all wanted to run out of there....but the service took so long that we had to wait for our ticket. From the time we got there, we waited for service. The food was pretty good but If I ever go again, it would most certainly be on a weeknight when it would be slower.

I went there on my birthday/valentines day! Nice romantic feel.. Food was Awesome I give this place 4stars bc customer service was good price a lil high. Love the fact that they wash your hands and show you how to properly eat Moroccan style I had fun.. Wish they did more for birthdays like instead of a candle maybe a moroccan cup cake with a candle on it would have been nice

Horrible. I truly thought I was on an episode of punk'ed at a dinner party at Imperial Fez. The reservation was at 8:00pm. After checking in No one acknowledged us for 30mins after we checked our party in. At this point we are very frustrated, we are told we will be seated in 5mins. Which turned into 45mins. Once seated the service was EXTREMELY slow. First course was bland cold lentil soup. The main course finally arrives and is cold as well. 20mins later I get my food again and it looks like someone else's leftovers. At this point it is after midnight. Yes another day and we are still in Imperial Fez. I cannot stress how horrible and unprofessional this night was. I WOULD NEVER eat here again. Management sucks and doesn't care about you as a customer. Oh and you have to take your shoes off to eat there and the floors look disgusting. Food and trash everywhere.

My husband and I purchased a gift certificate from Half-Off Depot. It was $45 for two 5-course meals, which is half off what it would normally cost. We forgot about the gift certificate until the week that it expired, so while this is normally kind of a special occasion place, we went on a random Friday night. There's a valet, so parking is easy. I'd read in other reviews that you have to take your shoes off upon entering, but they didn't ask us to. The restaurant was dark and had little tables that were near to the ground. Our waiter was attentive, asking us immediately if either of us were vegetarian, since the appetizer had chicken in it. The five courses were as follows: 1. Lentil Soup 2. Salad 3. Appetizer 4. Entrees 5. Mint tea and dessert I really liked the lentil soup and the salad. The salad was actually a large plate with like 8 different salads on it. We were told to use our hands or the bread to eat each salad, though they did bring forks in case we wanted them. By this point, we were both pretty full. After a little bit of confusion, they brought us a vegetarian version of the appetizer, which was a filo dough pastry with vegetables inside. For our entrees, I had the vegetables tajine mhammer and my husband had the shrimp pappell. I was not that impressed with either. Maybe it was because we were both really full already, but mine was bland and his was greasy. After they boxed up our food, they poured us some mint tea (watching the waiter pour it from high in the air was kind of cool) and gave us a plate with two pastries and some syrupy fruit. What I didn't like at all about this restaurant was how loud it got. Every 20 minutes or so, belly dancers would come out, which was cool, but when they did, all these strobe lights would flash and the music would get really, really loud. It was distracting. Same thing with birthdays - strobe lights and incredibly loud music - and a lot of people apparently have their birthday here. We must have heard it four times. This place was okay. The experience was fun and different but I probably wouldn't go back, at least not without a coupon.

I can't stand that people gave this place bad reviews. They not only have authentic Moroccan food, but authentic Moroccan atmosphere as well. True, the service is not as good and anal as an over-priced American place, but that is part of their culture- they take longer and are less chatty with you. The focus should be on the food, which is phenomenal. Portions were large and left us with a massive amount of leftovers. The decor was very comfy and cozy, with low tables and pillows galore. There were live belly dancers for entertainment. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is because, as good as the food and the experience is, it is a bit over-priced. One person's meal is about $45.

Wow. That was the most expensive meal I have ever had in my entire life. Unfortunately it was not also the best. I am a friend of mine wanted to share the courses as I've had gastric bypass surgery and don't eat very much. They charged us a $25 fee simply for sharing. Sodas and tea are 3 dollars with only one free refill. The belly dancing experience in the decor were very nice and exotic but I can see this for free at the next pagan festival in town. It was also very very warm inside the restaurant. And parking is a complete nightmare. You pretty much have to do the valet. If you do go make sure you get the Yelp deal for the $20 for $40 worth of food. It at least brings the price down from coronary to slight shock.

I visited this restaurant last night with my family. I can agree with some of the reviews about the decor needing to be" touched up" a bit. Our server, Mohammad, did a good job of explaining the menu and making suggestions. We did have a Groupon for the 5 course meal. We started with the soup and appetizers. The salads and Appetizer B'stella were great. I had the Prawns Pellpell (they are really shrimp), It was good, but nothing to brag about. The kids had the Chicken Kebab and Couscous w/ Salmon. Both of those dishes better than the dish I had. The Salmon was cooked a little to long though. My wife had the Cornish-Hen Tajine which was awesome!!! The best dish of them all. The pricing may seem high to some customers, but they need to remember there is live entertainment going on during dinner.

Very good food. Amazing experience. Wait staff very attentive and interested in your satisfaction. Belly dancer worked very hard. Come for the Moroccan experience and food, but not for an over the top meal. Ps Check prices first.

It seems to me like Imperial Fez is in its death throws. I've been here many times over the years, and have had favorable experiences in the past. I actually used to enjoy the food and the whole ritual of eating here. Now, it seems like they are using Groupon to stay alive and the entire experience feels joyless. The hosts and servers could care less, the drinks are WAY overpriced (no doubt to make up for the Groupon discounts), and the food tastes nothing like it used to. We dined here last night with an 8:30 reservation for a party of 4, and between being seated late and receiving REALLY slow service, our dinner took 3 and a half hours. A table next to us that was seated at 10 left before we did. It was pathetic. The only reason I am giving our experience 2 stars instead of 1 is due to nostalgia for the experiences I had here years ago. I'd like to think this was an isolated incident, but reading other people's reviews leads me to believe it was not.

OMG! This place is freaking horrible! I'm glad we had a coupon from Half Off Depot and that they allowed each of us couples to use separate coupons although they were one per table. I would not recommend eating here if you don't have some sort of discounted coupon, then I would really think about not eating here anyway. First the decor is really nasty looking, kind of like a basement of a frat house with ugly couches and chairs and rugs hanging on the wall. It makes you want to smoke a hookah hanging out in there, but doesn't really set the mood for food. The service here is pretty good, at least the waitress we had. She was very polite, explained the menu and drinks to us and how we should eat the food that would be served. There was another waiter there that we are happy we didn't get because he must have been stoned out of his head as he came over to our table several times thinking he was waiting on us. Not really sure about that guy. Drinks here are expensive and they tasted very weak, so we switched to beer. Good old beer, you can't fuck that up. The food is just horrible. We had the 5 course dinner where you pick your entree and everything else is served family style. 1st course - Harrira Moroccan Lentil Soup - Pretty Good. Maybe the other reviews are wrong about the food. 2nd course - Moroccan Salads with a Side of Red Harissa - I really liked the spicy dressing that came with this and the salad was ok too. 3rd course - Appetizer B'stella - Not real sure if this was an app or dessert? Basically a pastry filled with hen, egg, and other stuff topped with powdered sugar. The egg consistency in it kind of freaked me out. 4th course and main entree - Lamb Tajine - Lamb was very tender, but the crap they cooked it in just ruined it. Lamb Tajine Morozia - Lamb that tasted like they dumped a 5 lb bag of sugar on it. Roasted Lamb Shank M'Choui - Not too bad on this one, it was actually decent but certainly not worth what they charge. Cornish-hen Tajine - Same as the sugary lamb above. A diabetic certainly should not eat at this place. 5th course - Dessert With Moroccan Hot Mint Tea - The hot mint tea was great! The dessert sucked; basically it was hot fruit cocktail and a little piece of chocolate filled dough. Our whole party was pretty damn disappointed by our meal. I would probably give this place 1 star if the waitress we had wasn't as nice as she was. My advice is please stay away from this place. My fiance and her sister both had migraines from all the sugar and MSG they put in the food. The chef here really needs to learn how to cook.

Imperial Fez doesn't strike me as a venue for regular dining. It in itself is WAY more about the overall experience than most restaurants. With that said, I'd say if you've never been it's worth going. If you have friends from out of town it may be worth going. The greatest short coming of this place is the second visit. Upon a second visit you realize you can't remember a what you ate the last visit because you probably had to ask so many questions your first time to your waiter. Additionally, trying to see the menu in the dim light with a candle doesn't allow the menu to stick in your mind.

The good: Beautiful interior decor, multiple belly dancing presentations, the appetizer and the salad (both were colorful and equally yummy as well), and you get to eat with your hand. Ah and free valet parking freeing you from the stress of parking. The bad: the Lamb Tajin entree, extremely salty and fatty. Maybe that's the proper taste of the dish. In that case, I apologize, but I will not order it again. Also while eating our meal, we were rushed by our waitress as she kept on trying to take away what I am eating so she can present the next plate. The ugly: the dessert - fruits used in the dessert dish were canned fruits! Really? and eating food with multiple hands dipping in and out... Note: eating with your hand is all cool and fun, but when you are sharing a plate with another person (or persons), sanitary issue might be a problem... The salad and appetizers came out on a common platter for everyone to eat. With everyone dipping their hands in the food and licking their fingers clean and dipping in for more....yuck. I am not sure if one can ask for individual salad and appetizer plates, but I would definitely recommend that. The menu is a fixed five course meal starting at $45 pp. You only get to choose the main entree and the price goes up based on what you pick. Drinks were outrageously expensive. If you want to drink, drink before yo go! Would I go back again? Not likely...

1st time at imperial fez. The food was Not bad , but not worth the listing price. There was virtually no air conditioning. The service was fair and nonexistent at times. The belly dancing was very entertaining. The environment was a bit musty and w no AC, very difficult to be comfortable.

The positives - awesome belly dancers and atmosphere. You will forget you are in Atlanta as soon as you walk through the door. The negatives - the food was OK (I'm a vegetarian), but I'm not sure it's worth the price. The portions were huge, but sometimes less is better. Our waitress convinced us to get the special punch...big mistake. There was very little liquor and my glass was watered down by all the ice in the pitcher.

I will say what most other reviewers have said before. The entertainment and the ambiance is fabulous!! The food..... meh!! I had a Groupon coupon, which is why my boyfriend and I came here for our "date night" dinner. I would say if I didn't have the coupon, I would have been upset with the total bill, which was $140: 5-course meal at $45 a person + 2 drinks each. Basically, we should've just stopped eating after the appetizer. The lentil soup was good, the mixed salads were delicious! I especially liked the eggplant whatever-it-was. The pastry appetizer was just ok. Too sweet. Tasted like baklava. I had ordered the lamb shank, my boyfriend the couscous with prawns. The couscous was really bland. I had better store bought couscous. I would've expected more. The lamb was ok, though a bit too heavy. All in all, the food left me feeling way to stuffed. However, I do give them kudos for the ambiance. It was fun sitting on the pillows, doing the "ceremonial" hand washing, eating with your hands (come on... what's not to like about that?!?!). But bottom line - I would only come here again if there was a party or if I had another coupon. Because it's just not worth it for the full price.

My wife and I dined here the other night with another couple. It was our first time dining here and we only went because we bought the daily Groupon for the 5 course dinner. We arrived right at our reservation time and were seated (by a very rude hostess who seemed to run the restaurant) immediately. This seemed out of the ordinary for Buckhead however there were only 3 other tables full in the entire restaurant. The belly dancer did a few dances then retired to a table by the kitchen where the staff congregated the entire night. The soup was very good and had a ton of flavor. This is where we should have just gotten up and left. Everything after that went downhill and was borderline disgusting. Granted, I have never tried this genre of food before so maybe I didn't have a proper experience with it. The Groupons knocked off $90 combined however our bill was still over $70 and they wouldn't split the check between the two couples. We had two waiters that took turns coming over and both had serious attitude problems. I could have overlooked that, knowing halfway into the meal that we would never come back, but the restaurant taxes and adds gratuity for the total before deducting the Groupon. I know that's generally protocol for most discount sites, however it rubbed us the wrong way knowing their tip was $36. Needless to say, we will not be back to this restaurant.

Not worth the $$$$. $50 Minimum per person whether you ate or not. I had one drink and my bill was $75.00 which incl. the 20% grat. Food was less than average. Place felt old, outdated, and furniture very worn and dirty.

Ok I will start off by saying my girlfriend and I had never been here and wanted to give it a try. They open at 5pm, and no one even greeted us, we basically had to walk around and find the hostess. The food is over priced and not really that special to be Authentic!!! Also the under cooked my girlfriend's steak kabobs and the waitress took it back and just to over cook it and burn it. After that point I was fed up with this place and was ready to leave. I would not recommend this place to anyone, please try another place Like "Sufi's"

Went here with a fairly large group, about 10 of us. I was expecting a good time, because I enjoy the culture, music, and the art of belly dance. It was not disappointed. Our waiter was charming and nice, but a little slow. The food was okay. The hookahs were good. The belly dancers by far were the highlight of the night. I danced with one. My husband danced with one. We clapped, laughed and had a ball. It was a bit pricey, though. Our group easily spent $1000.

I've gone here for my birthday every year for years. True it is quite expensive, but it's great for a special occasion, or impressing someone while they are visiting town. -I LOVE their food. I eat/make a lot of Moroccan food and their dishes are very suited to my tastes. -The ambiance is very exotic, and the belly dancers are a ton of fun. -The staff is very nice and doesn't try to chase you out as as soon as you are done eating. -The best part is, after you're full from your meal (great portions) you can enjoy a cup of mint tea and a hookah while relaxing on a carpeted floor as long as you like.

Pros: It's a different experience, good for big groups to eat and chill out Cons: Food mediocre for the price, belly dancers were ok For $45/person for a 5-course meal, I expected way more out of the food. You can also choose to order entres a la carte for around $20 and up. The chicken kabob and lamb shank were ok, nothing to blog about. The only plus is the apple hookah which was a fun experience. The entertainment was ok, I appreciated the belly dancers but they weren't amazing. I wanted to be mesmerized, maybe it was a bad night. The music was great though. Be prepared to do a little butt shaking of your own if they come by and tap you. The atmosphere is very loungey with dark lighting and pillows everywhere, you risk falling asleep after the meal. The decor is more kitschy than authentic, tons of oriental rugs everywhere and cloth even covered the ceiling (fire hazard?). I do not want to think about what that place looks like with the lights on. Plus you have to leave your shoes at the door and walk around barefoot (including the bathroom unless you want to go get your shoes every time), yet there's a sign at the door saying they're not responsible for lost items. Also, they split our checks wrong, but I ain't mad since there were like 10 of us.

We went there for NYE. The package was $85 per person for 5 course meal. The first course was a very small cheap lentil soup. Second course was plate of variety different things. It was ok. The third was appetizer which was a small spring roll, one per person. The fourth course was the entrée. We ordered the lamb shank. It was good portion and was very good. The last course was spring roll type of dessert filled with bitter sweet fruit jam and fruit. Very cheap. The belly dancers were nice. Atmosphere was nice. Music sucked. The DJ sucked. When we received the bill, we were charged 20% for tip and they charged use for soft drinks on top of $85 per person. We end up paying $240 for two with no alcohol. Extremely over priced.

This was my third visit to Imperial Fez. It's definitely a special occasion or date night restaurant. To be honest, I've never been that impressed with their food, however was shocked to enjoy it more so this visit than before. I arrived early so I was able to take part in their 3 course early dining special for $29.99 that they offer on Saturdays. It came with lentil soup, and desert and a choice of one of three entrees. I chose the lamb shank. It was pretty good. I would rate it a 7 on a scale of 1-10. Overall the experience was great! Belly dancers were good as usual and the service was great with the exception of having to wait 20 minutes or so for our ticket.

I've unsubscribed, called the restaurant and NOTHING has happened. just this week, i've unsubscribed twice and tried to get in touch with a manager...again. no one seems to care. its annoying. and to top it off, I'VE NEVER EVEN BEEN HERE BEFORE!! if this is how they try to get new business, i def won't be dining here anytime soon...

Imperial Fez is too loud. By "too loud" I mean things like "I experienced physical discomfort", "OSHA would be concerned by these sound pressure levels", or "bring earplugs if you dine here". This was pain. This was suffering. I left the room nearly every time the PA was cranked. Now, lest there be any mistake, I like loud music. I'm under 30. I've seen Godspeed, I've seen Dick Dale, I've seen Mogwai, Man or Astro-man?, Daikaiju, I've seen the majority of the post-rock bands that operate in Atlanta and the surrounding area. I shoot guns. People shout at me to turn the stereo down when they ride in my automobile. I am accustomed to high sound pressure levels. I do not mean this hyperbolically: Imperial Fez is too loud. A loud concert is a different kind of noise than that to which Imperial Fez subjects its diners. Concert venues usually have fewer parallel walls than the Fez dining room. Parallel walls are bad for acoustics, and the Fez dining room consists entirely of parallel walls. Imagine a large rectangular pan filled halfway with water. You take one finger on your left hand and one on your right. You quickly plunge them at the same time to the bottom of the pan, right near one edge. Observe as two sets of concentric rings flow outward. See how sometimes those rings intersect? Those peaks are higher than those of either of the waves that intersected. See also when the dips between rings intersect, and those dips are lower than the waves that joined to create them? This phenomenon is called "constructive interference" and the uneven grid of hot and cold spots that forms inside a rectangular echo chamber is the reason professionals design concert halls to be shaped as little like the Fez dining room as possible. So, you thought it wasn't that loud. You were sitting in a cold spot. I was not that lucky. My ears are ringing from only about a 25% exposure to the Fez's evening audio program. Because... not to be deterred by the lack of deafening pain in the cold spots of the room, the operators of the Fez PA system run it at maximum output level. Actually, they run it beyond maximum output level -- if you cram your fingers into your ears as hard as you can while the noise is blaring, you can hear some details of the signal, and make out crackling and popping that should not be in the output. It was a little difficult for me to tell the cause, but it was either the power amplifier shutting itself down as a fire precaution, or it was the loudspeaker cones reaching their limit of travel. Imperial Fez is too loud. And it's in Buckhead which sucks for more reasons than will fit here. The food was pretty good, though.

Spent my 21st birthday here with my family! I remember I loved the shrimp! I also loved eating with my hands and using a draped towel as a napkin. I enjoyed the belly dancing and enjoyed when they asked me to belly dance too at which point my family thought it would be funny to put dollar bills in any opening of my clothing... The food was great, the atmosphere is fantastic, the entertainment (tea tricks, belly dancers, fire tricks) was well worth the $75 a head price tag - for a full night of food and entertainment!

Please please please heed many of your other yelpers advice and avoid at all costs. Poor service, poor food quality, highly overly priced food (and you are still hungry after.) The only thing positive I can say about this place is that the entertainment is on point, but at the compromise of everything a restaraunt should be I would never go back here again even if the meal was free!

I went there last night for "date night" with my husband. This was not our first time, we last went about a year ago. The place has really went down. As we sat and waited for our table no one asked us to take off our shoes(shoes are not allowed ),we took them off our selves because we already knew. The carpet was very grimly and dirty(I wish I've kept my shoes) When the server came we were asked to wash our hands but not given the full reason (you eat with your hands, which we already knew). Whe our food came we seen the portion size for salad was much smaller . We were also given forks(which we did not use). The belly dancers were GREAT! They were the best part of the night. The dessert was AWFUL. Cheap fruit salad with tooth picks. Really!,??! The plates here start at $45 and go up to $75. Because of the belly dancer $45 to $50 buck is worth it. Not the food alone! The bread was cold, soup was good, salads was to small to be told we had to share it. The fish had a lot of bones, rice was hold and cold. Fruit salad was a joke!. Stick to the plates under $50 bucks , avoid any fish dish, and enjoy the entertainment. Anything more than that is not worth it.

This restaurant has a variety of seating: booths, cushions in the floor, tables with chairs. The venue was very nicely decorated. I couldn't find the food rating and no employee there knew what I was talking about. That was a red flag. I ordered prawns and a Mediterranean salad. The food was really good. But I noticed the pricing is high. They also have multiple course meals and deals on certain days. This is a fun place and I definitely recommend eating here. For the adventurous men out there, this would be a cool date (wink, wink, nudge, nudge.) I wouldn't mind going back. But I would have to find out the food rating. Ha.

Changed name to Imperial FREEZE! It was so COLD we ate dinner with our coats on and we were STILL COLD. We went for my granddaughter's 18th birthday. Party of 4 adults & 2 kid's with a bill of $200.00. First time I have been to a Moroccan restaurant. I will not return. I do want to say that the service was GREAT and did all they could but said problem with the heat was normal.

Went with a group of friends last week. Servers were nice and the belly dancing was cool, but the food was below average and terribly overpriced. I ordered a lamb marinated in spices and a honey ginger sauce: first bite, interesting; second bite a bit sweet; third bite realized I couldn't finish due to it being overpoweringly sweet. My lamb was also dry-- for me lamb either has to be medium rare or slow cooked for hours, mine was neither. Friends dishes were also nothing special. Ambience is cool but does not justify the price, which was surprisingly high (we did drink a bit, ok, maybe a lot). Probably would not repeat.

The main thing to remember when dining here is that you are paying for the whole experience, not just food but also the ambience, and that is the key to relishing the cuisine. What you see from the outside does not prepare you for what you see inside - you are literally transported to Morocco. The whole place is done up very traditionally - interiors, chandeliers, paintings and tapestries.Floor style seating of course but very comfy. They have belly dancers there every night and I went there mid-week to see the place pretty busy and at least a few birthday parties being celebrated, you know as they come out with a drum and sing in Arabic. Their 5 course dinner is priced at $45 and a very reasonable deal when you see the portions and taste the yummy food. Everything is fixed except for the main entree which you can order off their menu. It comes with a lentil soup, salad - a few different small preparations in one plate, both served with bread. Then they serve appetizer which is like a chicken pastry - very nicely done. Then the main course...I tasted both the rice with sweet lamb as well as the chicken with couscous and they were both cooked to perfection. Finally the dessert which was a fruit salad dipped in honey I think or maybe orange blossom water, and some really nice mint tea - hot and sweet. You also get a small piece of puff pastry - dry fruit and nuts wrapped in godiva chocolate in a filo dough , and its a good thing it is bite-sized, it is sweet but not baklava-sweet so it is just the right portion. Eating all that can take a while so be prepared for a long relaxed meal. They encourage eating with your hand as the food is typically eaten to indulge in the full experience. They do offer wine and other drinks but I could just about do to eat all that food for dinner! Their servers seemed pretty nice, they give you enough time to finish each of your courses and check in on you from time to time. They explain dishes clearly so thats nice. Overall this is a great dinner destination. Would I frequent the place? No but I would definitely go there with friends or maybe for a special occasion.

Imperial Fez is like a good work of literature: you start your meal with good exposition, then some good development, the climax, and denouement. I had dinner there with my Dad this week, my first time there even though I've lived in Atlanta my whole life. They make decor and experience as authentic as possible (or so we're told): you sit on divans, wash your hands at the table before and after the meal, and refresh yourself with orange blossom fragrance at the end. We each ordered the 5-course dinner: he got the veggies and cous-cous, I ordered the Lamb Tagine with Ginger Saffron Sauce. They start you off with delicious bread, of an unusual cake-like consistency. Then comes the soup, which was nothing special. The "salad" platter was better--it comes with eight varieties of Moroccan salad, incuding eggplant, cucumber, carrots, and many more. Next you get the B'Stella, which was fantastic. It's a rich and flavorful dish--minced cornish hen, almonds, and spiced egg served in a phyllo dough shell. Amazing. Then comes the main dish. My lamb was fantastic--the meat melts off the bone, and the sauce is addictively sweet. The veggies and couscous were good, but not as incredible as the lamb. Finally, when you think you're about to burst, they give your mint tea and baklava. Then you pay, roll yourself out the door, go home, and fall asleep.

I give it 2 stars at best for the food (maybe even 1 star), and 4 to 5 for the entertainment and ambiance. Yes, it's THAT much of a difference. The Good: Interior decoration. It's literally like you just left buckhead and landed somewhere far and exotic. The music - even though between the arabic tracks they somehow mixed in some latin-american songs, spanish flamenco, AND a reggaeton track. The dancer. It was a Tuesday night, so there was just one. My understanding is that they have more on the weekends. Dance with fire. Dance with the sword. Dance with those little bells on her fingers. Just cool and very skilled. She also pulled up every birthday boy and girl in the house to dance with her, and put on a great act with the tips and everything. definite 5 stars plus on that. The experience. You take off your shoes, sit on the floor or pillows, and eat with your hands. Come on. Doesn't get much better than that :-) They wash your hands for you at your table twice for a three course meal, and three times if you get five courses (third time is with rosewater and orange blossom, which smells fantastic and you get to make a wish). The Salad part of the pre-set 5-course dinner. It's 5 different veggies, fresh, cooked, or pickled, two pallet-cleansers, and a traditional hot sauce. Regardless of your salad preferences, you will find something you like. The Bad: Wine. I have never seen a wine list that poor for a restaurant of this price range. Ever. The two moroccan wines they offered have a "dessert wine" nose and taste pretty bad. Definitely too sweet and fruity to go with the food. Other wines were just not good brands, period. We ended up ordering their $40 Spanish red, which was tolerable, and OK for the price at best. To top that off, they DO NOT ALLOW your own wine. Not with a cork fee, not any way at all. So even though we unknowingly brought a bottle of champagne to celebrate a special occasion, we ended up buying wine - because decent sparklings started at $90 and up. The tea/dessert ceremony. Set-up and enthusiasm around the tea ceremony made us expect something outstanding. But the hot tea was lukewarm, and as sweet as simple syrup, and there was not an un-sweet or less sweet option. There was no choice of dessert - it was a pre-set pastry that was nothing to write home about. And the tea glass was tiny, smaller than an average coffee cup. I did like the pieces of fruit that came with dessert, that was a very nice touch. The Ugly. Food. Yes, the food was way, way, WAY below expectations. The five course meal only allows you to pick your entrée. The "authentic" lentil soup tasted like chili, but with lentils in it. The appetizer was a pastry with chicken in it, but covered in sugar and extremely greasy - so greasy that it made me nauseous just to smell it. Our main courses were simply amateur. The lamb shank that was so very recommended and oversold by our waiter was a big bone, covered with so much salt and spice, that we could not taste the actual meat on it. The other lamb entrée we ordered (Lamb Tajine or something like that) was extremely sweet, with sweet glazed onions and almonds, and tasted like it had at least a cup of sugar on top of it. It was also very bony, so there was not much meat to eat - not that it was good enough to be eaten anyway. Overall, my wallet is $200 lighter (dinner for two), I am 5lbs heavier after the ridiculous amount of sugar and fat I consumed, I am completely mesmerized with the belly-dancer performance and atmosphere, and utterly disappointed with my meal. The only way I go back is if they have some kind of buffet option, and not the preset meals - avoid those at all costs.

I was taken here for my b-day this year. I've never been and didnt' know what to expect. I'm reading reviews on the value of the food for the price, but i can't speak to that since I didn't see the check. I think I had the Taste of Morocco. The chicken was cool, the vegetables were pretty good, and the lamb was delicious. I did leave still hungry though. I also had some Moroccan wine that was pretty jamming. I enjoyed the ambiance of the place, definitely a fun, unique dining experience. The belly dancers were pretty cool, but I didn't understand why they only danced a couple of songs and then stopped....only to come out 10 minutes later and dance for a couple more songs. I just figured they'd be dancing around all night, but what do I know. Here's a tip to the fellas: If you're going to go to the bathroom, they have sandles for you to put on you feet before you go in. Apparently, some guys didn't know this beacause people were in the bathroom in socks, stepping in who knows what. There was literally water (or some other liquid) by the urinals that this guy next to had his socks planted in. Sickening!

This place is so horrible. My girlfriends and I went out and had a groupon for 4 people.... $480.00 later we were very confused!!!! Obviously!!! How could you not be??????? This place is the biggest rip off ever. The music is so low that while your having dinner the table across the restaurant can hear your conversation.... Who wants that???? I literally don't reccomend this place to ANYONE!!!!

I was incredibly surprised to read the reviews that weren't very nice. I had excellent service, terrific food and a really nice time overall. I love that they wash your hands with the Tass, that they encourage you to sit and really enjoy your meal and the live dancers were really quite nice though I was a little sad to miss the fire dancers (they weren't there on the Saturday evening I went). I had the Lamb Tagine with Apricots and my husband the Roasted Lamb Shank. The amount of food was absolutely enormous but I didn't leave a single bit on my plate, it was soooo good! It's definitely rich and fatty but well balanced in terms of overall flavor and perfectly cooked; fork tender doesn't begin to describe how tender this meat was. I thought every dish I had was seasoned well, intricate in terms of spices and melding of flavors. This experience was really everything I was hoping for for my first trip to Imperial Fez. Shout out to Rigo, our server who was really nice and explained each dish in detail. It's definitely expensive but it's five courses! Soup, Salad, B'stella (filo dough filled with cornish game hen and dusted with powdered sugar and cinnamon; served piping hot and incredibly delicious), main course and dessert. I don't think the price is ridiculous considering what they're serving. The meat is all Halal and I can't imagine their spice list comes cheap. Plus they have live entertainment every night. They have specials every night, too if you're looking to have the Moroccan experience for a smaller price tag. Overall, I gotta say, I was impressed.

I've filed a report with the Better Business Bureau. To not speak out about how bad of a service this business provides would make me as irresponsible as Imperial Fez's owner. The bottom line= Don't go, don't go, don't go. Even if you have a Groupon and even if you and your friends think your great companionship will overcome the misery of Imperial Fez, Don't go. Pull out your fingernails instead, cut your losses and save a lot of money. You really don't need to read any more; but, here it is for those gluttons of punishment... Service = Neglectful and resentful. We were not allowed to order anything except the full course meals with preselected salad sampler, appetizer of minced meat, the entree, and dessert. We were punished for not all coming in the restaurant at the same time and had to wait 30 extra minutes to give our beverage order. No rosewater handwashing service, instead we had forks thrown (I'm not being dramatic here) down to us. Our table of 4 received the same amount of salad, appetizer and dessert that the tables of 2 received, even though we paid twice as much for our food. We were scolded when we reminded our waiter that we never received our appetizer. The server must have known how bad the food would be because he never checked on us, not even to see if we wanted another drink. The tea "service" consisted of his angrily dashing (still not being dramatic) fragrant water at us, slopping some tea in our glasses and telling us to make a wish (we all privately wished to be magically transported to another restaurant). Atmosphere = Dirty and Dingy. At one point, perhaps 7 years ago when 2 of us last came here, the fabric was clean and magical. It doesn't appear to have been cleaned or changed out since then. Though the restaurant was packed and bustling with excitement at first, by the time the dancer came out most of the patrons were so sour from disappointment and starvation, it seemed to have affected her performance. So sad for her. She didn't even bother to come around for tips. Food = Just plain bad. The small sample of salads was received eagerly by starving patrons. The appetizer was cold, because we eventually got it after our entree. The entrees were each accompanied by a lovely pool of oil. The chicken was mostly skin and fat and the lamb shank was more grizzle than meat. I rescued my drowning prawns. Dessert was julianned pieces of canned fruit and a sample of some unidentified filo based pastry. The tea was actually water and simple syrup. And for all this pleasure including 1 beer per person, we paid a little over $280 and signed over our next born children (o.k. the child part is dramatic- but, dang! this place was EXPENSIVE). BTW, the gratuity is always added into the bill so it doesn't matter the level of service.

The experience of the Imperial Fez started before we walked through the door. Outside there seemed to be some valet-situation, but it was so disorganized we couldn't tell if it was required... so we got fed up waiting for someone to attend to us that we decided to park our own car, only to get chased down by some upset valet driver. Whatever. Having lived in the Middle East for eight years, I feel like I am someone open to new experiences and aware of Arab culture. This place attempts to give you that "cultural" experience... and in many ways it does, but I think it gives a very romantic image of Arab culture. Yes, you take off your shoes, and sit at VERY low tables on pillows and you will be entertained by talented belly-dancers yielding burning swords (very cool). Things I wasn't too enamoured by: reading the menu by candle light and trying to see exactly how much this was going to run. If you want to keep your meal under $65 each, read carefully! I also didn't like that there were crumbs all over the cushions I was sitting on and sticking to my palms. The sticky vinyl tablecloth might have been authentic, but it didn't fit with my expectations. I mean, if people are getting their car valet parked and paying for $65 meals, I would expect the place to be clean. Overall, the food is very tasty, and we got a lot of attention from the waiter, but I do think it is a little overpriced, the overall experience a little too much, and details were overlooked. You can do authentic without going back in time, or lowering your standards of cleanliness.

I want to give it 3.5 stars, but I'll go 4. Despite what other reviews say about the food, I found that to be the best part. In fact, the lamb shank (specially priced on Thursdays) was the tastiest cut of lamb I've ever put in my mouth. The three-course meal was put together pretty well. Lentil soup arrived first with flat bread. It was hot and flavorful. The salad had quite an array of vegetables, some grilled, some uncooked. My date and I enjoyed 90% of it. The lamb stole the show. It was juicy, perfectly spiced, and extremely tender. Heavenly. I would go back just for that. The atmosphere is fun, albeit a little tacky. The floor seating is comfortable and it is a welcoming change to sit low and eat at your knees. Feels like a picnic. A hookah compliments the seating arrangement perfectly where you can sink down to the floor and melt while you puff shisha. The dancers are talented and put on an entertaining show, but the music sounds cheesy. It's a bass-thumping cheap techno beat with a Morrocan overlay. Not a huge fan. Something a little less intense and more authentic would suit the place better. The low lighting is good for the ambience, but bad for reading menus. Finally, our waiter spoke very quietly and seemed to be reading the preparations and ingredients from a proctor. He was not the most sincere or informative wait staff I've ever had. Overall, a good experience though and would definitely go back again. I'd like to try sitting upstairs on the balcony.

Went there on a Monday night to celebrate a birthday. We went there because it is hard to find a good restaurant open on a Monday that has some kind of entertainment. The web site advertises belly DANCERS. The web site shows a fire show too! I even called them to ask about the show and they said it started 7:30 and ended at 11:pm with just a few breaks. The reason I capatlized dancers was that was not the case. The show actually consisted of ONE belly dancer! I expressed my disappointment to the manage and all he had to say is that is all we do on Monday, that we should come on the weekend for the full show. That is not what they advertise. Food was ok,but very expensive. We didn't mind spending for the food if there was a show!!!

Solid Moroccan affair. the good: - Most of the food that came out had tender morsels - belly dancing was superb. We got a hot chick... sorry other people. - bevo's were yummy. Nice mixers. the bad: - a pitcher of bevo was around $45. Kind of pricey if you ask me. the ugly: $400 for a meal for four. Not worth it... if the meal totaled $250, I would have given it 4 stars.

I made reservations 2 weeks in advance of our wedding anniversary, 6 hours before our reservation time "they called me" and canceled my reservation because of some major event they were hosting, is this any way to treat customers? this is poor management, definitely will not make any future reservations at this place.

Capital A for Awful! I've been to some bad places before but this place was like a lame horse that someone needs to put out of their misery. Service was terrible. Waiters were just sitting around casually as if not even working. The back waiter ruined our already terrible meal with the stale smell of tobacco from the cigarette he smoked seconds before serving our food. The food is in no way worth what they charge and the billing is insane. Doing my own taxes was easier then interpreting how they figured our meal costs. Please close this place now before they steal anyone else's hard earned money.

I give Imperial Fez 3.5 stars. I invited about a dozen friends for my birthday dinner here, and the fun atmosphere made for a really great time. Upon arriving, guests are asked to remove their shoes and are seated on comfy pillows and cushions piled on the gorgeous Persian rugs. Between eating and chatting amongst ourselves, the bellydancers provide some fun entertainment. The food, however, doesn't seem to be worth how much you pay for it ($45-$65 per person); I guess I'm not an expert on Moroccan food, but I didn't enjoy a lot of the flavors in the meat dishes - they were a little too sweet - and I found the vegetable dishes, on the other hand, a little bland. The drinks are delish, but super expensive (like $30-something per pitcher). Definitely still try Imperial Fez for the experience, though - go with a big group on Friday/Saturday night and you're sure to have a good time. P.S. If they know it's your birthday, they WILL make you wear a plastic jewelled tiara and pull you up in front of the whole restaurant to bellydance. Be warned.

I was so excited about taking my mom here for Mothers Day. I joked about taking her to TGI Friday. The joke was on me. Inside, the place is very dark and kinda run-down. I'm kinda grossed out that we had to take off our shoes, especially since the servers all run around with their shoes on. We are seated in the far back corner, which was nice but we couldn't really see the belly dancing because she spent most of her time on the other side of the restaurant. Is it in traditional Moroccan-style to stuff dollar bills in the belly dancer's g-string? When I made the reservation, I specifically asked for the 5-course dinner because I absolutely hate buffets. The server informed us that the buffet was the only option. It was not only more expensive but not worth it. So, the server washes our hands in typical Moroccan fashion (though the American in me really desired soap as well) and we're off to the buffet. Sides: Bread - pretty good, cakey not sweet. Salad - iceberg lettuce, really?! If you're gonna charge me an arm, serve the good lettuce please. Lentil bean soup - ehhh... Couscous - flavorless African rice - dry Vegetables - ehhh... Mains were ok: Beef rib, Cornish game hen, Lamb tagine, Tilapia. I'm assuming they were all traditional Moroccan, tasty, but not a party in my mouth, more like an intimate get-together. Dessert: "Chef dessert" - fillo dough with raisins and powdered sugar. Mom and Boy seemed to enjoy. Poor service. Only came to refill drinks once. Server didn't speak English. Bill was wrong. I was already really annoyed by this point, but I told them, they fixed it, fine. But the worst was when the manager lost my credit card and then accused me of not giving it to him! It finally turned up - I think one of the staff rang it up. I adjusted my tip (I HATE places that include gratuity for BUFFETS!), grabbed my shoes, and roadrunner'd outta there. Passed TGI Friday on the way home. Chainification never looked so good. You can do better "dinner & a show" places. (Check out my review of Medieval Times.) The single-star rating is for the few morsels of food I did like.

We've been to the Fez a half dozen times and it is always been a treat. The food is good, the entertainment good and the ambiance an exotic trip to Morocco. We went again last night and enjoyed ourselves but were extremely disappointed by the "special punch". It is supposed to be strawberry and orange juices with vodka. Grand Marnier, and tequila. Tasty but the pitcher was mostly ice and and little to no liquor. All for *$49* a pitcher! Like saps, we got two. Getting the check my dinner companions said my eyes popped out. Stupid we for not checking the price first. We got fleeced. We might go again someday but will be far more cautious. The belly dancers are better than ever.

Only OK at best. Way way too pricy on all levels. Glad we had a coupon or I would have been way pissed off.

I checked yelp before I went but was a little bummed by the score since I had a Groupon and HAD to use it! ;) But reading yelp really helped me. I decided the no shoes in the restaurant would gross me out so I took some socks in my purse (since it's sandal season), made sure to use the bathroom beforehand in order to not deal with the no shoes in the bathroom/sandals someone else's feet were just in, and took hand sanitizer (which i usually don't do but I agreed with the other yelp-er "traditional" water over fingers wash isn't exactly the CLEAN I'm used to i.e. soap and water). All of these things definitely helped with my experience. Over all I liked it. I really did. The food was.. unusual, but that was to be expected. Honestly the lentil soup and main entree (mine: lamb with mushrooms and my husband: chicken kabobs) were the only things we really enjoyed and finished. They ruined the fresh fruit "dessert" by adding some overly sweet syrup to it but the mint tea was cool. The belly dancer was FREAKING awesome and the atmosphere was very different! Our server was attentive, informed and gave us silverware when we were struggling without it. If we ever go back I would probably pre-game drink somewhere else and just get an entree. After the Groupon and tip we paid about 60$. Had we paid full price though (closer to 120$).. I probably would've been pissed. Just sayin. The experience was nice for something different, but not all that!

Ambiance is amazing and food is great! And if you had any doubts about your capabilities to be romantic and have issues with being close with your partner or a date or even rekindle lost flames, this is the place to go to. Try it with an open mind, an empty stomach and a desire for intimacy...

Disgusting restaurant. Abysmal Service. Horrible food. Extremely overpriced. I wish I could give zero stars.

We went here while we were in Atlanta for a school newspaper convention my senior year of high school. We had a group of 7 and had the $40/person dinner option. It was amazing. When you first get to your table after taking off your shoes and entering the dining room, you sit down on the floor pillows (note: girls do not wear short skirts here) and one of the employees comes to your table to give your hands a rose bath. We were there so long ago that I don't remember the specific meals we all had, but I know people ordered several different specials and they were all very good. The DJ and bellydancer added to the enjoyment of our dinner. She was very entertaining and danced with a candelabra on her head--very impressive. If I'm ever back in Atlanta, I will definitely return here.

No, no, no! This place is awful. I have been to many local restaurants and enjoy dining out, but this is my first Yelp review. I have never disliked a place so much I felt compelled to write a review. The food is terrible, absolutely no flavor and way overpriced. We paid almost $100 for 2 people, even after applying a $40 coupon. The wine list is a joke. We went on Thursday, which is 1/2 off bottle night and the only reason we ordered wine. Basically your choices are red or white. It is original and unique, but sitting on the floor, watching a belly dance every 15 minutes, eating with your fingers and enjoying the decor does not compensate for the terrible food. It is a restaurant, food and flavor should be paramount. I left tempted to go next door to Holeman and Finch just so I could have a satisfying meal, but had just spent too much on the food I barely ate. Don't waste your time or money here.

Summary: Good and pricey food, pleasant service and talented belly dancer. We went on Thursday and had the lamb shank which was literally falling off the bone, it was delicious! The salad and the soup that came with the meals were ok. Interesting experience, but probably not worth a second trip.

I like this place. The food was very flavorful and the staff was friendly. The only dish you get to choose is your main course. All the other courses like appetizers, desserts are pretty much given to you. That was fine with me because it all tasted good. The soup was delish! The belly dancer...geez louise...was SHE shaking it! She's good though, she knows how to get the crowd going. Honestly, this is a good place to go once just to experience something different. It's not somewhere I expect to frequent or anything...although I didn't pay for the meal, the price just didn't seem worth it to me.

My first time to the Imperial Fez was for a recent birthday party and before you read any further, I will admit to being the kind of person that a) doesn't like to sit on the ground or b) eat with my hands or c) generally a fan of Middle Eastern food. However, I was going with friends and tried to keep an open mind. The restaurant itself was gorgeous, really put you in the mood for a feast, sultan style. The belly dancing was entertaining, swords, fire, etc. For me the food was just okay, since I'm not a big fan of the cuisine and wow was it overpriced. I know you are paying for the experience, which was cool, but not that cool. If someone invites me to go there again, I more than likely will decline.

I was stuck between a 2 star and a 4 star rating. So, 3 it is. The first time I went there we spend $300+ on our meals total. I picked over half the meal because I didn't choose any of it. TIP: If you are picky skip the pre set courses. Review the menu and get whatever the hell you want. So, that first time things were ok (only ok) until we got the bill. We were charged $5 for water per person. No, we did not order bottled water, this was just that water that the waiter pours when you sit down. Our waiter swore up and down that it was bottled water. Really? Hmm, ok, since when do you open a 'bottle' of water then pour it into a pitcher, then serve it to customers? I vowed never to return even though I really dig certain med dishes. Fast forward 2 years (yes, I was diligent in my avoidance). My husband's cousin started working there as a waiter and he convinced us to return. I asked him about the water and he confirmed that they used to charge for water from the tap but that it was exposed in the local news (anybody see this?) so they stopped. We went back. This time I picked what I wanted and really enjoyed the food. I went again a third time with a coworker on what I guess was couples night because everyone thought we were an item. She thought it was hilarious so we maded sure to ham it up for everyone watching. I even got up and danced when the belly dancers came around. Some things to know before you go, which I do now recommend: You will have to take off your shoes so freshen up before hand. Your shoes and the bathroom are opposite directions. there are slippers provided if you have to go but, seriously, do I have to explain that part? Parking is in the back/under the building. Bring singles, you get to make it rain on the belly dancers. You are expected to throw the money on the floor. Its not a strip club so you shouldn't try to hook it into anything she is wearing. (Although a few of them don't really mind) The dancers will usually leave the money where it falls. Someone eventually comes to get it. I guess thats the custom. Any body wanna clarify? I met the owner. (Yeah, I tend to do that a lot) Seemed nice. I will return now that the water issue has been resolved. Oh, by the way, get the lamb and couscous. Almost forgot, they have these really cozy looking private room-like areas. Next time I go I will reserve the small one in the back.

This place is fun. I enjoy it for its originality and unique dining experience. I think they're WAY over priced though. The food is good but not amazing. If it was not so over priced, we would go MUCH more often since we like different ethnic foods.

Imperial Fez is an interesting restaurant, it isn't a bad experience, but I would say it is an overpriced experience. If you go be sure to bring your appetite, because there is no boxing it up and taking it with you and for 45.00 per person you definitely want to eat all of it!

definately the worst dining experience i've ever had. by a long shot. at one point we had asked that the heat be turned at least on, since it was 29 degrees outside and it's located in a basement. the gentleman let me know that he could not turn it up much because the crazy guy upstairs that owned the building, who was not even there, would be very mad. after about 20 more minutes it was no better. i was sitting in the seat, indian style to warm my feet with my husbands coat in my lap and my coat over my shoulders in an effort to stay warm. i went again and asked but there was no accomidation. the food was horrible. we had asked for a few things to be brought to my table which were not. and even after the 90.00$ discount to the meal per google deals/yelp deals our total was still 230.00$ with the option to gratuitize taken away because the gratuity is included, which should have been a clue to begin with. if the service and food provided is worth paying for the tipping shouldn't be an issue. don't go..... don't ever go........the best thing about the dinner here was the valet upon exit!

This is a really enjoyable place to go eat and experience something a little different. The food is a little different for me but enjoyable. You walk in and take your shoes off and you are sitting on very comfortable pillows. You get a 5 course meal around 30 bucks per person. They also have belly dancers which is a little different. All in all a good place to go with a date for something out of the norm.

Ehhh This place is beautifully decorated. You have to shed your shoes when you come in and then there are tons and tons of area rugs to walk on...even in the bathroom stalls. The ceiling is low and tented and there is rich draping fabric everywhere. You sit at low tables...either on a built in seat at the wall, or on the floor on a big pillow. Ladies, I do not recommend wearing a skirt, because sitting on a pillow can be challenging. We were with a large party, so several quail & calamari appetizers were ordered. They looked exactly the same...a big mound of phyllo dough covered with cinnamon. I think you are allowed/encouraged to eat with your fingers, but they did bring us forks. The appetizers tasted pretty good, especially the quail once I got over my fear of reaching into the mound of dough to get some little bones out. My boyfriend and I wanted to split the shishkabobs off the a la carte menu, but apparently there is a $25 charge for splitting (lame!). So we ordered 2 entrees, saying to the waiter that we wouldn't each much off the second one so that we could take it home for leftovers. Unfortunately, they took it away while we were up dancing even though it was barely touched. Grrrr! Yes, they have a belly dancer who has some good skills. Towards the end of the evening, she encouraged people to get up and dance with her. It was pretty fun. Lots of people put dollar bills in her waistband, but she kept gyrating and shaking them off onto the floor. All in all, the food was pretty good, and the experience was interesting, but I don't feel the need to ever go there again. I mean if we had just had one or 2 servers instead of about the 7 different people we saw, maybe they would not have taken away the $29 entree that we barely touched. The whole thing was just a bit overpriced, even with the cost of entertainment built in.

We went here with a large group of people - 7 couples. None of us had been before, but had heard about it for years. Before we left, I read several of the reviews here, so in many cases I was not surprised. Yet, considering the restaurant's reputation - and the cost of dining there - I left mostly disappointed. The experience begins by taking your shoes off to be escorted to your table. (If you decide to try Imperial Fez, I highly encourage you to wear socks - or bring them with you. On the short walk to our table, my feet picked up all sorts of food bits - which was rather unnerving). Each seating area has a combination of small booths, short chairs and floor pillows. The interior was full of overlayed rugs, fabrics, and pillows. Everything felt a little dirty, a little dusty, and a little worn out. The meals are a five course dinner. You are served four of the courses without option - in our case it was lentil soup & bread, "salad", a chicken puff pastry, and a hot tea and spiced pastry dessert. You choose the main dish from a menu. Complete meal prices range from $25-75, depending on the main dish you select. Drinks are expensive - for instance, Heineken is $9.50, Bud Light $8, and mixed drinks $9-10. The food was OK. The wait staff was "fine." The concept of eating w/ my fingers wasn't a problem, you go there expecting that. The food was just OK - which is largely where my disappointment lies. For our $150 check (tip was built in at 20% due to the size of our group), I expected better. The belly dancing was decent, but a bit of a let down. For some reason, I thought that we'd see a constant show of belly dancing, but instead we saw only three short dances - about 2 or 3 minutes in length each. There were also the handful of young men in the audience who thought they were in a strip club - gesturing for her to do things; creepy. In the end, I have no regrets because it was really about getting together with friends - and we had a great time together laughing and poking at our food with our fingers. The million dollar questions: 1) Would I go back? NO. 2) Would I recommend it to others? NO

I went to Imperial Fez not knowing what to expect, but was delighted when I got there. The food was wonderful especially the little loaves of wheat bread. I thought it was kind of fun to eat with my hands as i watched the dancers do their thing. This is not a place i would go to often but it was a great one time experience.

They have gotten lazy with service and food... The belly dancing was kinda cool but the music was WAY too loud and the CD was skipping... My first experience here 5+ years ago was great but I will never go back... its too bad actually.

So much fun! We had a late reservation, and the matre'd didn't seem overjoyed to seat us, but after about 5 minutes, I couldn't have cared less. The entertainment (belly dancing and great rei/techno-mixed Moroccan, Algerian, Lebanese, etc. music) was so much fun, and interactive--should you feel like joining in. The food was terrific. And there was SO much of it! We took all the left-overs home and enjoyed them the next day or two. Perhaps an odd comment, but I have to mention just how friendly the valet fella was. I had a great time the night I went!

I went here last week for a friends birthday. If you want to have a good time in a restaurant with incredible ambience go to Imperial Fez. It feels like you are in a restaurant in a mysterious middle eastern country as soon as you walk in the door. The furnishings are plush and nice to look at. Its dark in the restaurant but i think that adds to its allure. The belly dancers are cool and its fun sitting on the oversized pillows. I could turn the dining room into one giant bedroom its that comfortable. Now onto the food. I was a little disappointed. I got the couscous with a variety of meats and vegetables. The vegetables were very soft, overcooked i think. I dont like eating vegetables that turn to mush in my mouth. The meats were relatively good but maybe not as flavorful as i would have expected. The couscous, virtually flavorless. My friend had ribs. I knew before they came out they were not going to be your average american ribs. They were good but i was not blown away by them. The soup and salad were very good though. I would definitely come back here though as the food was not atrocious. It was good but it just didnt quite meet my expectations.

Nice atmosphere, but it may put some people off if they're not comfortable with taking off your shoes, sitting low or on the floor, and eating with your hands. I've been to Morocco (including the city of Fez) and eaten much Moroccan food, and the food seemed authentic to me. The service was not perfect (there were several times when the waiters became confused and different ones asked us the same questions), and the music was sometimes turned up to be very loud in our section of the restaurant. Also, even though there were only two in my party, a 15% tip was automatically added. It's pricey, but worthwhile for an occasional treat.

I have been a handful of times. The idea is unique for sure. It makes dining an experience which I am a huge fan of. Take off your shoes, sit on the floor, eat with your hands, and watch the show - bellydancers and fire. But, trust me, you're going to pay dearly for this experience. The menu is cleverly designed so that you can't decifer exactly how much you are spending. So don't be surprised when you get hit with a crazy expensive bill at the end of the meal - hey, someone has to pay for the entertainment. The food is decent and the sangria is strong (again, I think purposely so the shock of the cost of the meal doesn't hit you until the next day when you are sober). Just think that the pricing is a littl shady. Bottom line - it is a special occassion, every 5-10 year visit type restaurant. Go for the experience, but expect not only to leave your shoes at the door, but your wallet as well.

It's my 5th time here in about 10 years and it never disappoints from the quality of our food, the service, the Moroccan ambience, & entertainment. I even have a few friends up in Atlanta that I have turned in "Imperial Fex" lovers. One you try it, you realize their is no placewithin hundreds of miles like it. From the crazy good lamb and ribs to the belly dancers that never disappoint. THis palce transports you into another culture and country while dazzling the senses from every angle. Highly recommend, worth the price, and you will not be disappointed.

If you are looking for a unique dining experience this is definitely a place you want to check out. The Imperial Fez decor is beautiful inside. The staff is friendly and walks you through the menu and customs such as washing of hands at the table. The food was very good and the belly dancing was very entertaining as well. We ordered the couscous diner with chicken, beef, & cornish hen. I recommend trying the appetizer that comes with diner.... its mostly sweet which would seem more like a dessert...BUT I happen to love dessert before diner. Two of my favorite things were the rose water near the end of diner and the fresh mint tea!
