Very good neighborhood place. Wonderful service and decent food. Really nice choice for families who can't decide between Thai and Chinese. Good spice levels, with even hotter levels readily available. Veggies are crisp, selection is good and apps are delicious. Make sure to order at least 4 steamed dumplings per person; they are that good! Best news- if you are too tired to go out, you can order in!

Almost gave up on chinese food in the area. By far, the best Chinese food in sandy springs.

My mom and I shared an appetizer of steamed vegetable dumplings. They were served with two sauces, one of which made my eyes water and my nose run. I loved it because I love hot spicy food. The dumplings were delicious. Mom had Mongolian beef and I had shrimp Hunan. My dish was extremely spicy hot. It was perfect for me. We both had leftovers. As always, Mom said her Mongolian beef was the best thing she had ever tasted. Service was impeccable and everyone in the restaurant was so nice. Too bad this place isn't close to home. The food is so good and the people are so nice that I'm not going to deduct a star for the VERY dark, dilapidated bathroom. They used copy paper to cover holes or something on the wall and the bathroom wasn't as clean as it could be.

We've lived in the area almost a year, drive by Hunan at least once a day, and never tried it - before today. Our one complaint about food in Atlanta was we hadn't found good Chinese (tried Both Canton Cooks and Mandarin house) we almost gave up until we tried Hunan The food was great, server was friendly - and they deliver!!!!! We have officially found our new Chinese place!! Only negative: The really bad 70's and 80's piano elevator music playing in the background....something about Karen Carpenter makes me not hungry....

Hunan Gourmet is a very underrated (and under-known-about) place. I lived and worked in the area for 10 years before I ever tried Hunan Gourmet - I only tried it on the recommendation of coworkers, and now it's in the regular lunch rotation. Service is always very friendly. The restaurant is rather drab inside and that probably turns people off, but if you can get past that, the food is excellent. Recommended dishes: Green Curry Chicken Hunan anything (I really like the spicy hunan duck) Cashew Chicken Hot & Sour Soup (possibly the best I've ever had). Canton Cooks used to be my go to Chinese in this area, but it's been supplanted by Hunan Gourmet (if I don't feel like driving over to Peter Chang's).

Absolutely wonderful. The hot and spicy Hunan pork was as good as NYC China Town. Great service!

My family's favorite local Chinese. They've been here 22 years and have a loyal customer base. They also have a Thai menu, and the penang is the best around. Mandy can spice anything to your taste. Everything is delicious. You want to eat quickly before a movie, or dine slowly? Take-away? Brown rice? More broccoli? No mushrooms? Everything is fully customizable. (The front of the building is currently under renovation, but they're still open as usual.)

Food is great! Steamed potstickers are a favorite- we typically get 2 orders! Moo-shoo pork and Mongolian beef are also great. Unfortunately I have to give take away one star since they often forget sauces with delivery orders (aka moo-shoo pork hoisin sauce or potsticker soy/green onion sauce). They also lose another star for delivery time. Im fine waiting an hour and a half- if they tell me it will take an hour and a half. Tonight I ordered food at 4:45pm and was told it will take 40 minutes to get to us. No problem! An hour and 15 mins later we call to check on it, and are told its another 10-15 mins... Not good Hunan Gourmet!

I ordered takeout during lunch. I always order Mongolian Beef at Chinese restaurants, and today was no exception. The staff was friendly, the restaurant clean, and I didn't wait too long for my order. I was very disappointed to see a health score of 80. That is very low, but then again that seems to be common for Chinese and Mexican restaurants sadly. I paid for a dinner portion so I could have it for lunch and dinner. Price was what I expected. The Mongolian beef was good, but I won't be back for it again. I really like those crunchy white noodles it comes with and it didn't have them and the sauce seemed a little too sweet.

One of our fav places since I was a kid to eat at. Very good but seems to be under staffed right now. I saw they had an"80" but I am sure they will pull it up good food and the owners Are awesome

Two different experiences at the same table. I went with two colleagues for lunch, I and one other got Chinese and the other got Thai. The Chinese was bad. Kung Pao chicken sauce was WAY too sweet. The other Chinese dish was "pretty dang bad" according to my friend. The Thai dish on the other hand looked ok and the person who ordered it said it was pretty good. I gave it two stars based on the Chinese dish I had.

Mongolian beef and pad Thai too sweet, server said chef tends to cook dishes on sweet side, stated we should ask for less sweetness next time. Don't think we will return

We order take from here all the time and eat in every once in a while. The food is amazing and the service couldn't be better. One of the best Chinese/Thai places in town.

We order delivery from here about once every month and love it. Our favorites include the lettuce chicken wraps, curry chicken, lo mein noodles, and dumplings.

The food smelled like dog food, tasted bad, and was expensive. The median age was about 75, and the service was poor. It took about 15 minutes to get the check for the food I barely ate. Overall awful.

The restaurant is just around the corner from my office, so I get take outs once or twice a week. Up front, the food is not as good as Canton Cooks, which is close by. There are however good dishes. I get the Hunan fried rice which is delicious. Fried rice with small amounts of chicken, beef, pork and shrimp. The Chicken Coconut Soup is a favorite at lunch, and although it is not chinese, it is very good. Combine this with the Crispy spring Rolls and you have a good meal. Other good dishes, although not very adventuresome, are the Mongolian Beef, Sesame Chicken and the Salt and Pepper Calamari. The restaurant is spacious, with good service.

Great place to eat when you have the time, I've been here a couple of times. The service store times takes a while but the wait is worth it. Everything is fresh, and tasty! Everything ranges from 9.99-14.99. If you're into spicy food, I say you should order the spicy triple delight. It's my favorite dish there! There sesame chicken is also quite good, if you're the type to have a sweet tooth.

This place was close to my old job, and I ate here like once a week. I did not try much on their menu, but they do have killer General Tso's, and killer Hot & Sour Soup. The owners are super, and if you like either of those dishes, you are in luck. A lot of hot peppers with the General Tso's.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
