Quite an awesome experience here. I loved the artsy feeling. The baristas are amiable and were ready to help me decide drinks. Heck, one of them even offered my friend a kitten with his coffee! Definitely coming back if I'm in the area. The mural outside is awesome too.

I had a really great spinach empenada and a strong coffee this week. Coffe was called "Shot in the dark." Sat and made a few sketches by a sunny window. Nice afternoon in a nice spot.

Just noticed this place the other day.. decided to give it a try. Parking was easy, and my latte was excellent. I'll definitely be going back.

Really great neighborhood place to grab a decent cup of coffee and snack. They have a really great selection for brunch on the weekend and everything I've eaten has been really good. The only thing I dont care for are all the children running around. For some reason there are an abundance of toddlers running around. That is the only reason I get my coffee to go.

triple chocolate cupcake = light 'n moist chocolate cake + dreamy chocolate buttercream + mini chocolate chips iced americano = good as it gets this place is just too cute, and i had no idea it was just down the street from me. i'm dying to come back and try a savory cheese and bacon biscuit or a jamaican beef patty. they looked legit! it's a large space, and i spent hours on a couch catching up with a friend. it's knick knacky and unique. the seating set up is a bit awkward, and the crazy couches will swallow you whole. but overall, the coffee, snacks and service with a smile will bring me back.

Love love love Hodgepodge! Beverages: I'm not generally a coffee drinker, so I can't comment like a coffee aficionado could, although I understand that Batdorf and Bronson is good stuff. I usually get the mint tea, which is lovely and fragrant, and lasts through a couple mugs of hot water (which they are happy to provide). I did get the Thai coffee once (that doesn't really count as coffee, IMO, because of all the milk and sugar), which was also excellent and you could absolutely taste the cardamom and other spices. Food: I have "cheated" on my paleo diet and tried the cheddar sausage biscuits, which are lovely and freshly made. My husband went with me to Hodgepodge once, and had a triple-chocolate cupcake, and nearly bit off the hand of the person who tried to take away his plate before he had licked off the crumbs. He then ate a second cupcake just as eagerly. I am dying to try the strawberry shortcake cupcakes! Location: Easy to find on Moreland just south of EAV, with a great parking lot. Space: HUGE. The walls are covered in very affordable local art of all kinds. There are three areas: a cafe part with smaller tables near the back, an enormous main space with several large round tables and a sub-area with kiddie play stuff, and a side space with comfy sofas and lots of pillows. There are tons of windows, which means there's lots of light, but the sun does get a bit brutal in the afternoons when it's setting. Staff/owners: Unbelievably nice and helpful, and seem to love their new place, which is fun to see. :) Other: Free wifi, clean cute bathrooms, casual artsy vibe. Obviously intended to be kid-friendly, which can be good or bad, depending on your situation. They have been holding lots of events, although I have only made it to one (the first swap). They do open mikes, play groups, craft circles, writing groups, and all kinds of cool stuff! My only major complaint is that the chairs and tables are cheap folding-type, and are a bit unstable and definitely not a good height for sitting and typing. I know they're starting out, and furniture is wicked expensive, so I'm hoping they get some new seating eventually when they make lots of money, which I hope they do. :)

Don't go there to eat. Seemed like it was going to be nice breakfast place. It wasn't. Paid 7$ for an egg sandwich on wonder bread that looked and tasted slightly worse than something I could make in my kitchen. It came with side of instant grits? Really too bad. Great space and extremely kid friendly which I need.

Wow, can't believe I haven't written a review! 3 trips so far- and it just gets better and better! Last trip- last sunday. Had some garlic cheese grits with roasted tomato sauce. Still thinking about how good they were a week later. The jerk chicken sandwich is to die for- had it on two visits- tried to order something else, had to have it again. There are various arts and crafts items available for purchase, didn't see anything I couldn't live without. Some were grossly over priced to me. The atmosphere is friendly and quiet. The decor is minimal and clean. The service is super friendly and fast for made to order food. If I lived close by, I would go there everyday! Once a week will have to do for now.

Hummm... sooo, if you are gonna wear a t-shirt throwing shade at Starbucks, you need to make sure the coffee you serve is better... it was not! Actually the coffee wasn't good (I had a latte). I ordered one type of pancake, waited an eternity, and got another type (I think it was the sweet potatoes one); I was hungry so i just ate that. It was good but very dense, wow, it's more like a cake than a pancake. The chairs in the main room at uncomfortable and tables are wobbly. I think the place has potential, they just need to put some thought and effort into making it more homey and inviting. I'll stick to Alon's, Starbucks, and Good Karma for coffee though (and yea, retire the T-shirt, you haven't earned the rights to wear it... yet).

I visited Hodge Podge today as I often do for a great specialty coffee. Nothing new nor the reason for my review. I'm giving this review because of what one worker said to me that changed my day.... I stopped in before taking my sick dog to a vet not knowing the news of my dogs condition would ruin my day (scary and expensive condition but not life threatening at this time). I was looking for a pick me up and pastry before sitting in an office for hours on end. While at the coffee shop, the gentleman who usually cooks the breakfast and brunch items (name I've not gotten but seems to be a care free upbeat black male) started a normal amount of small talk while my mocha caliente was being prepared. He was a lovely guy with a distinctive ease in his conversations. It wasn't until I left that his words struck me. Hit me with thought. Gave me something to ponder. And left a semi smile on my face despite what was ahead of me for the day. Now usually when someone says "ok thanks, have a nice day." One would return it with a "thanks, you do the same." But not him, he says to me "have a nice life, you know that's what we are here for." Ok so maybe it's not extremely profound for a lot of people, but for me this made me rethink my day, my hobbies I've been postponing, and the higher power that made me ME. For me this was everything. For today, this is what I needed. And tomorrow? I hope I remember this feeling.

Look, i'll give any coffee shop a try. I generally find myself sitting anywhere that serves a good cup of joe. HodgePodge may still be figuring things out, but for whatever reason it's not the most inviting place in the world. It's usually empty when I've gone in, and the space seemingly goes on and on, which surrenders a bit in the atmosphere department. With all that said though, the coffee isn't bad, which is fine for me. I'm less than snobby when it comes to a good cup, but this pace gets crazy points with their jalapeno cheddar biscuits. I'll give anyone's biscuit a try, and these hit the spot. While its lacking in atmosphere, it's worth a go. Plus, that end of Moreland Ave could use a few nicer establishments, here's hoping HodgePodge is leading the charge.

I think the space and energy there is wonderful, but the baked goods rather horrible. I am finding myself increasingly annoyed by bad bakery after bad bakery. They keep popping up without any culinary chops to be making food for people. As a chef I get insulted when people without pastry training think that they can just put out any product with fat and sugar in it and the flavor will somehow work itself out... it's insulting to the years I have worked in this business and the years I have worked on recipe development. Please hire someone who can bake or don't make desserts.

I live down the street from here. They have the best sweet potatoe scones however they are more biscuit like than scone like. Their coffee is okay but a little weak for my taste. They have lots of activites going on everyday of the week and even a little play area for the kiddos. I love that they are open early so I can swing by there on my way to work.

I love the coffee here - of course it's Batdorf & Bronson, so it's impossible not to love. Though people have told me I'm impossible, but yet I do love it so maybe it is impossible to love also. I'm confusing myself with my own logic. It's real good, let's leave it at that. I love the ATL Zine Library which is here also. It's such a cool concept of having zines around so you can check out other worlds while you enjoy your beverage of choice. I was so inspired I even wrote a zine myself which you can find hidden away in the stacks. Good luck finding it. And a final story: I came here on a Wed late afternoon a couple of weeks ago, got a latte, picked up some interesting-looking zines, and alternated between reading and writing in a notebook. There were about 2 other people on the place, and I was sitting at the table overlooking Moreland Ave, the August sun blazing. Some bebop was playing over the system. All of a sudden the sun dropped out behind the trees as it began it's descent, and the whole room went from bright to subdued as a trumpet solo fell back to the head and I finished my drink. It was so romantic, I tell you, and I think it was that moment I went from liking this place a lot to loving it. We'll always have the sunset, Hodgepodge.

Three words. BLESS YOUR HEART. Best coffee I've had in years. Also I love all the local art work that is posted and can be purchased. Quiet enough to work but you can still be social. Lovely place to stay and the coffee is amazing and quick.

Yes! Nothing is more pleasantly surprising than friendly hipsters and good coffee. This place is full of helpful staff, cool art for sale, random books, and semi uncomfortable chairs. But that makes it quite quaint. Okay, they do have couches, so maybe those are comfy. The tuna sandwich is delish, the pies smell amazing and the coffee is nice and fresh. Free wifi!!! The music selection is entertaining(Beatles, stones, and German radio stations....).

Atlanta has quite a few coffee shops, but none of them also act as a gallery for local artists like Hodgepodge does. The name of the cafe accurately says it all. It's a large, warehouse-like coffeeshop with a mix of different local art, books, magazines, and some other stuff. I have to say, this is probably the most unique coffee shop I've been to in Atlanta. It has a very...well, hipster feel to it that totally matches the East Atlanta vibe. Now, on to the coffee. The coffee served here is Batdorf and Bronson, my personal favorite local coffee roasters. The coffee was perfect, so at least they got that right! Hodgepodge also serves food that is made to order (I think). I had the roast beef sandwich, which was nothing to write home about, but it's an establishment dedicated to its coffee, so not much to be upset about. The cafe was rather quiet when I was there, and the staff was definitely welcoming. Seating options are varied, so you can come here by yourself, with a friend, or even with a study group. There is a very large room that has several local artworks up on the walls and large cafeteria-sized tables to suit your group or space-hogging needs. There are also some couches for you to sip away on and plenty of material to browse if you get bored. Overall, I would recommend this lovely coffee place. It's also a great place to spend an afternoon getting ideas for how you want to decorate that empty wall in your home.

Was supposed to meet an employee at starbucks in Kroger but apparently there is no starbucks in the Kroger he picked. We searched for coffee shop and breakfast near us. Hodgepodge cafe showed up and I read the reviews and said let's try it. So glad we did! Had free parking in the lot. We walked in and it was a fun atmosphere ...kind of reminded me of a "Friends" atmosphere. Bright airy and friendly. A little eclectic yet fun. You order at the counter and they have a full menu. I got the roast beef hash with eggs over easy and my Co worker got an omelette. We got coffee and tea. Found a table and got our drinks how we liked. They brought our food out to us. We did have to go back up to get our own utensils and napkins as well as ask them for ketchup and hot sauce. Didn't notice it when we were fixing our drinks. The roast beef hash was amazingly tasty! He enjoyed his omelette too but liked my meal so we ordered him another plate of roast beef hash. It's only $8 for a full plate so why not! You can take your laptop in there and sit and work as well. Fun environment and there's nothing else around that's noteworthy. Glad we found them and tried them out.

Summary: Huge space with fun things to do over coffee/tea I was really impressed today with Hodgepodge! It was open during memorial day and there weren't a lot of people, but there is such a huge space that even though there were probably like 15 people there, it felt empty. The tables are huge so I think this would be the best spot for a study group or group project to meet. You can even do arts and crafts here. They also have a couple of comfy couches that you can lay down and read a book or magazine. It's nice they provide some magazines and books for people to read. They also have a unique little kids area for kids to play. I think that's so nice of them to provide that. There is lots of local art on sale on the walls and I think they circulate these paintings every so often and they also have some books and "zines" on sale there too. Their coffee tastes amazing too! I didn't get to try the famous coconut curry latte from the Yelp deal, but I did try the Oh Honey and their thai tea. It didn't really taste like it had honey, but it did taste sweet and it tasted amazing even with soy milk (which I don't drink that often). Thai tea tasted great also, but I didn't like the boba pearls. They tasted a little hard. But it didn't ruin the drink. Service was awesome too. Baristas were really friendly. The music was interesting. There was a lot of variety. It went from oldies, song covers of oldies, to acoustic laid back, and then rock music. I think this is a great place to meet with friends and hang out. There aren't that many outlets, but maybe enough to get you by. Also, I tried their biscuits and the cheddar & chive one was great, but what really impressed me was their gluten free mint chocolate chip brownie. If you're having a sweet tooth craving, definitely go for one of those!

What a great ambiance with good food and good vibes! Huge menu collection! The OMG: OMG, it's OMG! Warm, toasty cinnamon rolls, squished with a waffle iron. It comes with some whipped cream and other good sweetness but the toasty rolls are good alone. The Doc Brown: Sriracha scrambled eggs and cheese with jerk turkey bacon. The menu describes it as a "hangover cure" for a reason. The all-familiar Sriracha not only decorated the top of the omelette prepared egg dish but was hidden inside as well. You'll see the redness when you cut through it. It is delicious and I can handle the spicy. Next time, I'll ask for maybe 75% of the amount of Sriracha though. Served with a small bowl of grits. Nothing too fancy but still warm, grainy, and comforting. Southern Iced tea with crushed mint lightly sweetened with hibiscus flowers: It's iced tea, not SWEET tea (which was what I assumed). Still slightly sweet with a nice scent to it, thanks to the herbs and flowers. It got better as I almost finished it. I might ask for a bit more sweetness if I order again and not try something new. Green tea: Just your plain (unsweetened) green tea. I like the different seating arrangements in the big room. It reminded me of a kindergartener's classroom with adult-sized chairs and tables. This would be good for big groups. It doesn't get too loud. There are some children's toys in the corner if you were to bring your kids. There's another cozy room with couches if you just want to sit around, sip a beverage, read, and chat with a friend. They have open-mic nights. Adequate parking on the side and in the back. When I left on this rainy day though, two cars were not parked in stalls but not blocking people's way.

I came here over the weekend with an out of town friend. We were actually within walking distance, so the walk there was really very nice. The day was sunny and breezy, and a perfect day to walk about a mile away for some breakfast. The place is well-sized. Like a weirdo, I wanted milk, so that's what I got. Maybe I should have tried to coffee, but I think it would have made me severely crash later that day. (Drinking may have been involved the previous night, and I didn't get to bed until around 5am...) Their breakfast menu was short, but fairly priced, I think. I got the Roast Beast and Hash, which ran less than $10 and was enough to fill me up. The potatoes were cooked through, and well-seasoned. The beef was kind of dry and chewy, and the sunny side eggs were a little undercooked, but the meal over all was still pretty fair to good. My companion got some kind of caramel apple pancakes. There were only two, and they tasted like Christmas. Combined, with drinks, the bill ran us about $21. The space was really very cool. One side with chairs and tables, one side with couches and squishy chairs. There was artwork all over the place, and a bookshelf that appeared to be full of local poetry and some books for sale. There was a small homemade poetry book someone had created, which included hand-written notes and sheets glued in. I thought that was really cool. PROS: They serve breakfast. Plenty of seating. Looks like they have some books for sale. (I like when places do that, considering I love to read.) Obviously very community-orientated. There were flyers up for local events, and a lot of art from local artists. Friendly staff, who seemed very chill. Breakfast will run you about $10 with a cup of coffee. Not bad. Looks like they even have some local events here. Neat. CONS: Slightly dry meat, and undercooked eggs for my meal. Apparently they are one of the most kid-friendly coffee shops in the area. I don't like kids, so this isn't a plus for me. THE VERDICT: Pretty cool local coffee spot. Spacious seating, so it'd be a great place to meet up for a group to hang out, and a pretty good location. It's East Atlanta, so expect it to be a little hippity hip, but not unbearably so. The staff was nice, joking around with us, and just very friendly in general. I'll have to try the coffee next time I'm in the area, and definitely some of the baked goods because those seem like a winner as well.

Grunge meets a working cafe. Much more than a coffee shop. Wifi is better than other coffee spots. High ceilings varied seating Not cramped and handicap accessible I had a Jamaican patty, coffee, and lemon cake $9 fair for this spot that has plenty of free off street parking and elbow room!!

Great atmosphere, not so great food... I came for breakfast with my husband and I have to admit, I love the atmosphere of this place. There were other couples, families with little kids, and a few groups that seemed to be a book club and a few business partners or classmates working on a project. They have small tables for 1-3 people or larger tables for about 8 people, and a couple sofas. There is also a kids area with a few toys a boots. It seemed like a nice chill spot. The coffee menu is really nice and I ordered a large mocha and it was divine!!! I also ordered the lumberjack breakfast (a bowl of grits, with two eggs on and two sausages on to) and added a biscuit on the side. They will cook your eggs how you like it, so I got them runny and they, along with the sausages were fine. The grits and the biscuit though....man they need someone's grandma or auntie back there to help a time or two. Now, let me just throw this disclaimer out there, I understand that different areas like their food differently, so if you like your grits & biscuits how they serve them, good, if not, order at your own risk. The grits are REALLY stiff, like scoop it with an ice cream scoop and shape it like play dough stiff. If they took that grits recipe a little further and added cheese and pan saute it to make grit cakes, it would be amazing! If you like southern style creamy grits, similar to what you'd find in most shrimp & grits bowls, you won't like it. Also, the biscuit had good flavor but is very crumbly. It was baked just fine, so the recipe just needs a bit more buttermilk. (if management is reading this review, just keep in mind that baked good may need a bit more wet ingredients when it gets warmer down here in Georgia). My husband's food was delicious, french toast, eggs, & sausage. I'd come back definitely for the coffee, and I would actually try the breakfast again.

This place is huge! Lots of space and natural light. The big tables seat 4 with plenty of elbow room and space to spread out, which is a necessity for me. I tried the Oh Honey latte and it was very good. The coffee was the perfect temperature. Normally I have to wait a bit for it to cool down at other coffee places but not here. There are also several outlets for those who come here to do work. I really like the kiddie corner with toys for the littles. Finally, if you just want someplace to have coffee and read there are some comfy couches as well as a bookshelf full of books! Overall, I really like Hodgepodge Coffee and I will definitely be back to work!!!

Caramel apple French toast was good, wish I'd gotten them a little warmer though. Bacon was great. My wife ordered the lumberjack breakfast. Grits were ok, not great. Biscuits a little dry and flaky. Not a bad experience, will definetly give them another try.

Super funky coffee shop that I may have to hang out at anytime I need to pick someone up from the airport. I needed to study but AT needed to pick up a work colleague from the airport and I was tagging along to have dinner with them. I checked Yelp out for a coffee joint that was in between where we live and the airport. We were going at rush hour on Friday, which is almost equivalent to a death wish. I had no idea how the traffic was running, nor did I care too much, but by some strange luck, I decided to pick Hodgepodge Coffeehouse & Gallery. Maybe the gallery part of the name attracted me. As soon as I pulled in the parking lot, I knew it was going to be a good time. We walked in and saw right away that the place is huge with lots of tables for patrons to spread out and either relax, play games, read books, study, or work. Whatever you want to do that won't disturb too much your neighboring coffee and tea drinkers. I was pretty tired from all the JavaScripting I had been doing that morning and AT had an early start at work because he had to get out pre-4 pm. We decided on coffees. I'm pretty sure they serve Batdorf & Bronson beans here. Anyway, maybe I'm getting his wrong, though I am quite certain AT got the mocha and liked it. (Side note: He is one of those snobby taste people who will spit something out if the taste does not agree with him. I guess I should take this as a good thing, as he will always be honest when I cook or bake him something. And let me say that he's gobbled down everything I've made him. Well, maybe there was thing or two he kind of turned his nose up at, but I would still say my success rate is 99% or higher.) Anyway, I don't remember what he got because I still think about what I got. Oh honey. I had always been kinda squeamish about honey and coffee, thinking that honey belonged better to the realm of tea. Well, I put aside my prejudices and ordered this honey latte. HOLY SHIT. That's all I can say. That may be the first time I used a curse word in one of my 500+ reviews. And it is well placed here. One of the very best coffee drinks I've ever had. Honey goes amazingly well with coffee. Which makes me think I should do something with the huge jar of honey that AT got from the Buford Highway Farmers Market... There is actually a hodgepodge of tables and seats that don't always match, but it adds charm to the place. If you so please, you can check out all the cool artwork on display and for sale. I totally dig the crowd that hangs out here. This place isn't exactly convenient to where I lie my head but since it is on the way to ATL, I know that the first time was one of more visits.

I would give HP 5 stars but there's a guy in glasses who works the register who is very unfriendly. I dread ordering anything from him. He never smiles, there's no eye contact, and he's only talkative to his coworkers. He makes me not want to return. I love how eclectic the vibe is and the large round tables are a bonus because I need a lot of work space for studying. The veggie pies are so tasty and with the rotating art exhibits, I'm never bored there. Of course I'll return because I refuse to let one ignorant person ruin my love for the place I frequent at least twice a week.

What other things can make a coffee shop better besides the actual coffee? How about a super big space with books to read, board games to play and great art to look at. This is exactly what Hodgepodge is and it's what sets it apart from other coffee shops I have visited. I was quite impressed with it, from the outside it looks a little sketch but don't let that fool you, it has a very cool setting and ambiance inside perfect for hanging out with your friends or working on your school or work projects, it has a section with toys for your small kids to play, and if you want to really chill the sofas would do a good job of that haha. Met with my friends Ravi and Justin for memorial day, my friend had ordered an Oh Honey iced coffee that he didn't finish and saved it for me, it was super sweet and delicious, also got to try a bite of their brownies and it was so good. Hodgepodge is really unique overall and I love it for that, I definitely recommend everybody to visit if you haven't already. Awesome place all around.

The breakfast sandwich I had here was alright. The turkey sausage just doesn't quite cut it. I'll need to try the other stuff before I decide if this place is worth visiting or not. Also, their yelp deal isn't active anymore and yet they didn't contact Yelp to take it down. Sketchy...

Update: I used to come to Hodgepodge on a regular basis for their Children's Storytime...which I learned this past Friday on Halloween that it's being cancelled. Which is really a bummer :( My son loves it! Then, a mom who also comes on a regular basis, told me that the person who runs Hodgepodge complained to her about the children who come to the story time. Hodgepodge has received a lot of recognition for being one of the top places in Atlanta for being child friendly. And then the owner complains about it? These parents that come to your story time, give you a lot of money each week. Money for your good food. Your friendly service. I really have liked the servers/staff/the super friendly cook and his wife. And after the dozens of times I've been here, I don't believe I've ever met the owner. But, this really makes me not want to come back. You should never talk badly about your customers to Other customers... ............................................................................................................. Hodgepodge is so awesome! My son and I came here for the first time recently and our experience was great! Hodgepodge is super kid friendly so that's a Huge plus! What drew us in was the free children's storybook time, which is every Friday, with an amazing woman who reads the most hilarious books! The customer service is extraordinary! So friendly, welcoming and accommodating. I'm a mom to a crazy toddler and the staff were so friendly and understanding when my son decided to shoot behind the counter and try to help lol ALSO, the food is so good! I got a gluten free brownie, a pineapple granola concoction that had a creamy coconut cream & got the maple turkey sausage and grits. Dude! I went into a food coma! And my son loved it as well. I didn't get any coffee, but I got a cup of tea, lemonade and juice. All fresh and yummy! Love Hodgepodge!!!!!!

I had been meaning to pay a visit to Hodgepodge for quite some time and I'm so happy I had my first visit yesterday. I had passed by this location dozens of times on drives to and fro on Moreland, but never had a chance to get a good look inside. As soon as I stepped foot inside of the building, I was stunned by the sheer size of what was several rooms. Tons of open floor space, art space, tables, cozy chairs, and more. Reminiscent of an awesome basement living room, but with way more natural light. In case you were wondering about the coffee, you're in good hands -- It's good ol' Batdorf & Bronson. I had a great conversation with a friend the other day with a good friend who said, "You know, Batdorf coffee is just really good. That's why I like it." I can do nothing but wholeheartedly agree. I grabbed a large cold brew and loved it, per usual. Not sure which roast it was, but it was so raisin-y and sweet. Loved it. They also have a wonderful selection of foods prepared in-house. Where I didn't have the time to have a full meal, I did get my hands on a savory spinach and cheddar biscuit. It was so buttery and wonderful. Whomever enjoys one of these will have no choice but to appreciate the deft hands of the baker at Hodgepodge. They are damn, damn good. Also, let me take a second to mention the Paleo Brownie. As I was departing, the owner mentioned that it will be the best brownie of my life... with a paleo recipe. I wasn't sure what to expect, but good lord. As soon as I bit into it, I was having trouble picturing the delectable flavor without butter in the recipe, or milk.... or sugar. Wow. It was perfect texture with a good amount of chew. Paired with my cold brew, it was a match made in chocolatey/coffee-y heaven. I love Hodgepodge. I'm looking forward to a return visit very, very soon.

Not my cup of Joe. I did enjoy the atmosphere and surroundings. The people working there were nice. I went with two other friends. I ordered the biscuits and gravy which came with two scrambled eggs. My friend had bragged on the grits so much I ordered a side of grits. When my order arrived the grits were no not brought out, but when I went back to tell them the grits were brought right out with no delay. Presentation wise the breakfast looked great. Two large biscuits were cut in half with I guess what they call sausage gravy. I guess they try to conserve water because there wasn't much to the gravy. White gravy in the South usually is a little moist and runny. This gravy wasn't. I felt like i was eating a salt lick the sausage and gravy was so salty. The sausage itself was tasteful with the right amount of spice. The biscuits were so dry they fell apart quickly. The eggs were good. Being southern born and bread I like my grits creamy. These were not. They had good taste but all the water had been sucked out of them and the grits were in clumps. A disappointment after my friend had hyped it up. Definitely won't be back.

This place is not too shabby- the food is ok- the service is outstanding! The people in and around were very pleasant. It's a great big ole coffee house with lots of room to move around and view too notch art work on the walls by local artist. They're are instruments throughout the establishment in case you feel like jammin out on the acoustic guitar to a Bob Marley jam- yep, this is the kind of place it is. And they do a good job to keep the vibe "Irie" I would have added a little more variety in the kitchen and add a little soul to the flavor but it's a place that has much potential to grow in the right direction!! Keep it up guys and gals- you all are awesome!!

Local coffee shop / breakfast-brunch-lunch spot has a bit of a bohemian-vibe, featuring local artists in a big space. The menu is quirky, with the two best items being the Rocky Raccoon (Captain Crunch covered French Toast... I repeat, Captain Crunch covered French Toast!!!) and the Hello Dolly (granola, tropical fruit, and whipped coconut cream). We also had the hummus which was simply ok. Great place for kids, with a good-sized toy area. Also good for putting the headphones on and getting some work done.

I was looking for a place where I could spend an entire day working on my dissertation and enjoy a laid back atmosphere and good coffee simultaneously. This place did not disappoint! The staff was friendly, the coffee and french toast were both awesome! They had several large round tables where you could work and plug in if need be and they also had free WiFi. Overall I had a very productive day and I will definitely be back!

Stopped in to Hodgepodge to meet a new friend for tea and crumpets on a very rainy afternoon. The space is great and quite eclectic. Lots and lots of space and nooks and crannies. It has a large performance space, places for community postings, places where you can work on your MacBook, chat with a friend, etc. It's a nice, large, well sectioned, homey feeling space, with lots of light and windows. Until- you get to the coffee bar and food ordering area. The brotherman working back there (making the coffee drinks)did warm up, and got a little chatty, and turned out to be really cool and informative. He saved the staff interaction part of the eval! However, the very pretty, long haired girl, (getting the food and cashiering) was not friendly, welcoming, patient or anything. This after I told her this was my first visit. Yuck. The homemade sausage cheese biscuits were good, coffee was good, and I'd love to try their weekend breakfast- so long as that snotty chick isn't working.

This is my second visit and I really enjoy this place. It's about 2.5 miles from home so not my neighborhood coffee place but it's great whenever I am in need of coffee in East Atlanta. The service is friendly. The place is clean and neat. And I especially like to art on the wall and throughout the space. Bonus! There is a corner of the cafe that is dedicated to small children. That's an enlightened service experience. If you haven't already, check out Hodgepodge!

You know when you order a coffee at Starbucks and you're terrified to drink it for a solid 5-10 minutes for fear you'll burn your mouth? Not at Hodgepodge. The coffee is served perfectly ready to consume on the spot. Automatically earns 5 stars for that, in my humble opinion. I typically get a latte but after hearing about the Oh Honey, I think it's my new drink of choice here. If I'm on the run, you can't go wrong with the Bacon & Cheddar biscuit. If you have time to stay and enjoy, I'm keen on the breakfast sandwich. As a newbie to the area, I'm sure there are more stellar options on the menu, and I absolutely look forward to trying them all. Staff is always friendly. Space is always clean. I love that they sell local artist's goods, which gives me something to look at while I wait. A big and open space that invites you in. Five stars, Hodgepodge.

I'm siting here drinking what they call a kick In The pants. And in feeling it. If you need a jolt they have it in a cup. They have very large tables so you can spread out but unfortunately not to many outlets so you will be sitting close. The staff is nice and there is def an artsy feel and lots of space

I'm definitely willing to give Hodgepodge another shot-- this review is based on a single visit. Will update when I go again. That said... Hodgepodge has excellent parking and an incredibly kind staff. The seating is outstanding, and though a little sparse, I like the space in general. My drink was only so so-- but admittedly, I got a thai bubble tea at a coffeehouse, so what did I expect? I'll try something more traditional next time. The reason I knocked off a star-- and what might keep me from making this a regular coffeehouse-- is that they're very, very kid friendly. They actually have a very nice play area in their main room. I'm sure that's amazing if you're a parent, but if you're not, and you're there to get some work done...it can be a bit much. I have a very good pair of noise canceling headphones, but they were no match for a pair of two year old twin girls in a very echo-y room. I think it's a really lovely thing to have, don't get me wrong, but it does mean that Hodgepodge isn't quite the coffeeshop mecca I'd hoped it would be. I wish they put the toys in the little adjacent room, with the bookshelves? It seems like that space would hem little ones in a bit, and also keep their noise slightly more contained.

I have been here a couple times and I love the atmosphere, coffee, brownies, and especially the brunch menu. I love that they can get creative with their menu. My favorites are the Glo and the OMG, a cinnamon roll waffle. Oh, I can't forget the grits; I have always been an oatmeal person but I love the grits here! You have to try some coffee and pick up some of their baked goods before you leave. So far I haven't found one thing I didn't like. I have been back several times now and this place is still just as good and unique as always. Everyone is super friendly and orders are quick. One of my favorite places right now.

  • Travel B.

They were sold out of curry chicken and grits. Wish I called before traveling 20 miles. Also the cinnamon roll is discontinued. The cashier was rushing me as if there was a line which it wasn't. I hadn't been before and them being out of stuff made me have to look at the menu again. I settled for the slumber jack it's bland and had small pieces of turkey sausage. I agree with the other post I read about the kids area. Bring headphones if you really want to get work done

EAV at its finest, this is a great little hipster spot. The coffee is fun and inventive. The food is also great the menu isn't huge but the items that are listed are amazing. The vibe is very chill and it is one of the few spots in the EAV that is kid friendly. The artwork in hodgepodge is fun and hip and for a price you can own a piece for yourself. So if you are in the EAV stop by grab a cup of joe and eat some brunch!

A really eclectic space. Looks a bit scary from the outside and maybe not characteristics of many cafes on the inside (high ceilings, reminiscent of a former warehouse space), but the staff was friendly and there's so much room and natural light to study. I had the iced coffee and the chocolate chip banana bread while waiting for my friend to get a tattoo down the street. There was a group of kids with their instructor or something discussing art and art projects (I think?). They were a fun group, and provided some amusing eavesdropping opportunities. I thought it was nice that Hodgepodge was big enough and willing to support groups to encourage art and creativity in young people.

I have known about this place for two years, I had a chance to meet the owner. I finally came by this week and today is my second visit in a row. I live very close which makes it worse that it took me two years to stop in but hey, it's been my loss! I will definitely be back friendly staff, clean good smelling environment, food and coffee is in point! What more can I ask for.

This place is great across the board. For a variety of reasons: * A great assortment of foods & tasty coffee * Nice helpful employees * Odd ball artwork * Family friendly & chill Atmosphere * great location ( walking distance for me) * Ample Parking * Events often Also the ceiling has a chocolate fudge appearance that I've never seen anywhere else before. There brunch has a curry chicken & grits dish. Its great.

I have been coming to Hodge Podge several days a week for about 3 months and (even though it's winter) I usually order a frozen drink. Lately, (I don't know if they need a new blender or just a new blade) my drink has been full of large chunks of ice- I end up either chewing/eating my drink or taking it home and blending it myself. One of the staff uses a little magic bullet or something of that nature and gets it perfectly with that- but not all the staff will do that even when asked. I know I could just order an iced drink or hot drink, but frozen is my jam! Perhaps I need to make Drip or Joes my go-to until the summer (when perhaps/hopefully more ppl will be ordering frozen drinks and will also complain).

Holy banana balls!!! This place puts most coffee places to SHAME! I'm not particularly well versed on their coffees because I always get the Oh Honey but you really can't go wrong with it. They use Batdorf & Bronson beans like every other small coffee place in Atlanta, so nothing remarkable there. They excel at creating different drinks though. Like the Oh Honey. Not a lot of places make a honey latte and they really need to. The food is off the chain. I've been raised on Jamaican patties because my mom is culinarily eccentric. I can honestly say that these patties are to die for. Especially the beef. All their snacks are good though. I'm mostly impressed and grateful for a coffee shop that offers more than quiche and danish. What if I'm ACTUALLY hungry?! They've got ya covered! And the ART! OMG! A bunch of my favourite local artists sell here and it's so fun to look and shop around while you wait. Native Bear, Hot Pink Poo, and Scout are just a SMALL FRACTION of the vendors. GO GO GO GO!

If you were asked to picture a hipster coffeshop, hodgepodge would be the poster child. Eclectic and fun on both the outside and inside, the environment of hodgepodge is really great; a nice place to work, shop, or hangout. I went here in the morning for some coffee around opening time and I got the oh honey (the names of the drinks are really cute as well). To be honest, the drink was too sweet for me, but my friends who had the bless yo heart and the hot chocolate really enjoyed it. If I ever drop by Atlanta again in the future, I'd swing by and give hodgepodge another chance and enjoy the environment.

I enjoy trying out all the different independent coffee shops here in Atlanta and Hodgepodge was no exception. Being in hipster central I had high expectations. Unfortunately I was sorely disappointed. They coffee was not bad but there was nothing about it that would make me want to go back. They have the "gallery" that they rent out and it so happens that there was some sort of private clothing sale happening which made the shop extremely loud. The sitting area has some comfortable couches but the main seating area has the cheap and flimsy chairs you would expect to see in a middle school lunch room. Being fairly close to Park Grounds I think I wild go there instead next time I need a coffee fix and I am in the area.

Hodgepodge almost made me miss living in Grant Park and the easy access I used to enjoy to all the cute spots in Ormewood Park and East Atlanta. This place is just so darn cute. The layout is a little odd, but that means there are plenty of nooks and crannies. Somehow, I missed the comfy looking room with the couches that's tucked away just past the bathrooms. Instead, I camped out with my books in the big space with the folding tables and chairs. While I'll concur that the folding chair was not exactly conducive to the large amount of studying I had hoped to get done, I was charmed by the space, and the beading class that was going on in one corner. This would be a great spot to host a child's birthday party or a low key bridal/baby shower, or just bring a big study group that will need a place to sprawl out. If you get your coffee to stay, it's served in a cute mug, and you'll get a free refill of the drip varieties. I also enjoyed a cupcake, which was fantastic. It was smaller than the behemoth cupcakes that everyone seems to carry these days, which meant it was just perfect for a little taste of something sweet. I especially loved the buttercream, which you could taste was "real." All of this, AND they've got their own dedicated parking lot. I'll be back for sure.

I love this place! The coffee is great, the hours are great, the staff and owners are incredibly friendly and all seem to care a lot about the place, and the facility is often used creatively for events in the community and to showcase and sell the work of local artists. It's a great place to work, and I work there often. It's also a fine place to get brunch on the weekends. In addition to having a clear and ambitious vision of what this place could be, I find the ownership flexible and interested in the needs of its community, and since opening, it's been evolving to support those needs and daring to try new things.

Yummy ice coffee for a hot Sunday. Looking out the huge windows is a snap chat of yesteryear, Anywhere, USA. The art work in the main room is immature, but the toy collection is to die for.

The coffee here is simply amazing. We come here every morning. We've been Starbucks customers for a very long time, and would like to think that our taste for coffee is much more on the higher end. Hodge Podge coffee definitely hits that mark. The staff there is adorable and extremely friendly. In conclusion, if your anywhere in the area visiting, and in need of some awesome coffee; I'd recommend coming here. You won't be deprived.

I really wanted to like this place. To set the stage of the review, I went there for brunch and added a coffee onto my meal. Customer Service - Impeccable. That is the only reason this review has 2 stars. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. They were patient in us making a selection and very helpful in explaining the menu items. Decor - I enjoyed the gallery. I liked the different art. I appreciate the shabby chic furniture attempt, but the chairs have to be comfortable. The chairs were pretty flimsy. Coffee - I love a full flavor coffee. I felt that the coffee was a little watered down. There was nothing super special about it. It wasn't special enough for the price. The $1 coffee at the carts in NYC is better. Food - I got the grits and jerk turkey sausage. They are literally the worst grits I've ever had in the city. I got a giant bowl of super stiff, luke warm grits with maybe, 3 turkey sausage links chopped up in it. The Sriracha Omellete was just an omelette with sriracha poured on top. The chef is a great salesman and a horrible cook. I dislike cooking and could have made a much better meal. We got a side of bacon as well. It looked like the bacon was cut in half. We received 4 half slices of bacon. When I pay for a side of bacon, I expect to get whole slices of bacon. I really really wanted to like this place, because everyone was so nice and it would be nice to have another brunch place in walking distance. I go to brunch for amazing breakfast food, that would take too much effort or ingredients I don't normally keep at home. And, it has to taste good! This place missed the mark. I did like the art and overall ambiance, but I don't go to restaurants for decor. I go to eat. I dislike paying for bad food. I saw a lot of the pictures from the earlier posts, so I'm not sure if there was a change in chef or not.

I love this place! My favorite drink is Oh Honey. I have never heard of a honey latte before, so that is pretty unique. For breakfast, try the rocky raccoon- French toast with Cap'n Crunch coating on it. Also, they have a great little play area, so bring the kids.

Cool space in a kind of run down area. Really good homemade stuff, lots of vegan and GF options. Coconut curry latte was fun, but I'd recommend just getting a small. Drinks were extremely hot even though they were for Here. Art inside wasn't all that spectacular. Overall, could look more loved. ..dirty windows, "use other door" sign was faded and illegible, overflowing trash and slowishave service despite relatively empty space. But hey, it was a nice post-zoo stop. My parents really dug their chais.

Really cool space with fantastic coffee. Parking can be a bit frantic, but people are in and out so eventually you'll get a spot. I had the maple jerk turkey sausage with grits. Not the best grits ever. Kinda of reminded me of instant grits. It's a coffeehouse though and that's what they do best! Definitely will be going back!!

Hands down my favorite coffee shop! If you haven't been to this garage turned coffee house you should. The space is an eclectic mix of re-purposed furniture and local artwork - hence the name "Hodge Podge." I love the Mocha, it's just the right amount of sweetness. This past Sunday I tried the Hodge Om (White), mozzarella and spinach. What I like about the omelette were the recognizable ingredients which weren't over seasoned! It comes paired with creamy grits. Perfect after church Brunch! If you're in East Atlanta Village you should definitely stop by Hodge Podge!

I'm just saying, I kind of don't want them to get chairs that are more comfortable, because then there will be a line out the door, and always a wait. This place is awesome, the food is awesome, the staff is awesome, and the local art is awesome!!!

  • Michael M.

The food is amazing, and the coffee is fresh. Anyone on here that ragged on this place on Yelp! is an idiot (you know who you are). The grits are amazing and I highly recommend getting your full of the Captain Crunch French Toast... yes that's a thing here. The staff was just as excited that I got it as I was to order it. If you have a spicy palate that needs tending to, get the Sriracha Omelette. This may not seem like a detailed enough review, but why ruin the surprise. Come see for yourself!

This is one of those rare instances where a restaurant doesn't actually live up to it's name, and that is a good thing...... With the ample parking this place had it's location on the outskirts of East Atlanta Village making a pit stop for a little afternoon or morning pick me up is easier than going through the Starbuck's drive in. I am not a coffee drinker, but I do enjoy a nice tea, and this place a great Chai. Strong black tea with a lots of spices causing a little tickle as it went down my throat! As a Cole Slaw aficionado I can tell you that Hodgepodge has a cole slaw that would be the best side dish to any Fish n Chips if only they served it! The Tuna Fish has a little hint of curry, and fresh grapes reminiscent of the Chicken Salad at Neiman's! So, next time you are in the neighborhood stop by and have a sip of coffee/tea and take in their warm and spacious surrounding.

I'm so thankful to have moved from a neighborhood that had a Starbucks as my local coffee joint. This place is the best. Very kind and accommodating staff. Today I missed the breakfast serving by 15 minutes. The cook had already cleaned up and was leaving for the day. He saw me eyeing the sign and he took it down, held it up and said, what would you like? I declined but he insisted. He went back and made me my breakfast, threw in some delicious grits, and I'm sure had to clean everything up again. He then came out and checked on me and made small talk about my motorcycle. These people are for real.

Love this coffee shop. They have good coffee and tons of specialty drinks to choose from. It's very spacious, yet inviting. The staff is so welcoming (Kris is ace). Their food is also good. Way better than any mass produced scones you might pick up at Starbucks or Caribou. Love coming here when I'm on that side of town for an easy and quiet lunch break.

I'm in love with HodgePodge! Open early, and the coffee is always right on the money. I especially enjoy the Oh Honey! Its espresso, milk and honey...and its perfect. The apricot scone was sweet, creamy and dense with HUGE chunk a of fruit throughout it. And the chive and cheddar biscuit was tasty too! I'm lucky to have such a great place, so close to home.

HodgePodge has everything a good coffeeshop needs (good coffee, good wifi, friendly staff, plenty of electrical outlets for your laptop). They recently added a brunch menu with lots of simple, good stuff. My favorite is the Doc Brown, a tasty, spicy sriracha and cheese omelet served with these totally delicious flavored grits. It's definitely a cut above the usual bagel/muffin thing if you want a snack with your coffee.

... By far, this is absolutely one of the BEST tea / coffee spots in the ATL! I love luv this spot. Almost hate to keep tea / coffee hopping but there are so many interesting spots in the ATL. The staff is very friendly. I loved the uniqueness of this spot too. Very quaint place. Bring your friends and enjoy this time. Awesome place!!!

Too cute. What I loved: they've got ample parking, tea from Mighty Leaf, super friendly baristas, a full menu (they've added sandwiches and the like), Diet Coke in cans, mismatched tea cups, free wifi, and delicious Jamaican meat (or spinach) patties. What I didn't love: the chairs are incredibly uncomfortable, the space is a little awkward (giant round tables in one room, couches in another), kids EVERYWHERE (although apparently there was some kind of mom meet-up going on).

I wanna like this place. I really, really wanna like this place! But they make it so hard..... So, I decided to give the ole' Hodgepodge another go in hopes that this experience would be better than my last. It was, well, in a word: weird. My coffee was hot so that's an improvement. But the cinnamon bun I chose (on a whim) was downright awful! They seem to let baked goods sit until sold rather than trashing them after 3 days, which is the freshness lifespan of most baked goods. Maybe I should have gone for one of those biscuits..... The weird part is that staff barely talks to you, they even ignored one customer's question (I thought for a minute the barista might be hard of hearing) and they never acknowledge customers upon entry. The other weird part was that the barista who ignored everyone seemed obsessed with the one customer that was totally ignoring her and made a line of customers wait while she left the counter and walked over to the lady to ask her flavor preference of a biscuit or muffin or something. Then the barista proceeded to pull the pastry out and it sat on the counter till I had finished my coffee and crappy cinnamon roll and left!! Very odd customer service. One plus for all your parents - its definitely a kid-friendly space complete with a play area. I still think the art is the best aspect of this place.

Well... this place is convenient and the service is great. My favorite drink is an Oh Honey. It is absolutely delish. Now, it can get a bit loud and messy when there are toddlers running around.... I find that rare for a coffeehouse, but, it adds to the eclecticism. I suppose. If you have work to focus on, and concentration is not your strength, this spot may be a bit challenging.

Best iced coffee in Atlanta, seriously. Staff is friendly and unpretentious, making Hodgepodge a much more comfortable and relaxing environment than other coffee shops around town. They recently starting making breakfast food and everything I've tried has been delicious. Same quality food you'd get from most brunch spots around town for half the price. Only negative is that the chairs leave a lot to be desired, not very comfortable or sturdy. Don't let that scare you though, the food and coffee make up for it.

Super friendly staff, great coffee & the most delectable homemade bacon cheddar biscuit I've ever had in my life (ok, it's the first bacon cheddar biscuit I've ever had, but it was delicious none the less)! No sandwich here, this was a crumbly biscuit with reall bacon and cheddar mixed in with dough and baked - delicious! The space is pretty large for a coffee shop, but there is interesting art all around, along with plenty of tables, chairs, or couches (for those of you who like to feel all cozy while drinking your coffee). According to the board inside, it sounds like they are planning activities (i.e. kids crafts & swing dance) at the space.

This is a place I am really rooting for. I first went with a group of students, and even though we swamped the two ladies working they didn't seemed stressed at all and greatly appreciated our business. Their coffee isn't the best but it's much better than Grant Park Coffeehouse. I'm sure they'll perfect this over time. Their biscuits are pretty damn amazing. Hodgepodge also recently had a Scrabble tournament, which is cool that they are trying out new things. I know they also have events like baby showers and whatnot. It probably helps that the building is super spacious. To those who have complained about making a left from the parking lot: Yeah, it sucks making a left without a light anywhere on Moreland. I've been going around the block. It helps.

My girlfriend and I absolutely LOVE this place. Great service, great food, and cool space. I was skeptical at first when she wanted to drag me to a unassuming breakfast joint off of Moreland Ave...but was very pleasantly surprised. Get the Hello Dolly!

Great coffee shop in East Atlanta- Batdorf and Bronson coffee in an artful, if on the bare side, space. Very airy industrial space, the baristas were personable and the coffee was delicious. I prefer an open portafilter instead of spouted but that is nitpicky, the espresso was good. They do have one of those "creatively" named menus so you have to read it to figure out your options. I was later recommended a "slappy pappy" by a friend who is a regular but my Americano misto was hot and delicious. I will be back when in town and next time i want to try one of their good looking pastries! As other reviewers mentioned they make a wide assortment of foods that appeal to anyone with dietary restrictions which is incredibly helpful. My wife is gluten free and so I always note places that carry foodstuffs she can eat. Thanks!

I tried to contact the owner directly, but their website has no contact information so here I am. The coffee, food, and atmosphere here are all great. The reason why I avoid going here, despite the fact I live half a mile away, is because of some of the staff. Every time I've been there, the staff has treated me and the other customers there as if though it is a huge inconvenience for them to serve their customers. Especially, the guy making the coffee. Not only does it take him an exorbitant amount of time to make a drink (10 minutes for a latte when there are only 2-3 people ahead of you), but he acts like you're the one being the asshole because you're forcing him to make you a cup of coffee. This guy has been there every time I've gone in and every time he has treated me and those around me this way. It's very unfortunate because I want to come here regularly, but the thought of having to deal with this guy and the rest of the staff keeps me away.

I visited HodgePodge when I was on vacation a few months back and had such a lovely experience. The staff were so warm and welcoming and they've got a great selection of treats, which they were more than happy to talk me through when I asked what everything was. (It was my first time in the south and there were a few things I'd never heard of before.) My sweet tooth go the better of me and I picked a chocolate cupcake. I was going to be there a little while and tried to pace myself, but it was so good that I couldn't help inhaling it, washing it down with a tasty mug of chai too! So... my greedines then got the better of me and I went back and bought my very first ever biscuit to try too which was really yummy. (A bit like a savoury scone for any English readers.) The space they have is really cool with something interesting to see on every wall. I was visiting on my own so I had plenty of time to have a wander around and see the artwork on display. There were also lots of books on hand if you fancy reading, and some cool local handmade crafts and jewellery to buy, which would have caused my bank balance a problem if I hadn't been having to travel so lightly. Not only was there a lovely atmosphere but it was also really clean and tidy, which is a big thing in my book. It's one thing to be selling good quality food and drink, but it it doesn't really mean much if you're trying to eat it while your elbows are stuck to the table! Fortunately, Hodgepodge was sticky-free and not a single old used mug in sight on any of the vacant tables. My only compaint... is that it's so far away and who knows when I'll get back!

Mmmmmmm. This raspberry mocha I'm drinking right now could not be better. The blueberry muffin was pretty good too :-) Support local!

I just had one of their paleo chocolate brownies and let me just say, that has to be the best brownies I have ever had! And yay, it's paleo! God bless this place and keep up the great work!! Now, just come down to sc, you would make a killing!

ATL aliens and other earthlings teleport here. It's more than a coffee shop. They host different events and support local Atlanta art. Best coffee place in town and free wifi.

I returned to Hodgepodge to try their weekend brunch and was wowed yet again. The banana coconut pancakes were different, but delish and the roasted sweet potatoes melted in my mouth. My latte was also sooooo good. Love this place and it's special quirkiness.

I can't believe this place is as close as it is to the Batdorf roastery and they let them do such a lousy job with thier coffee. I swung through for a quick cup and whatever swill was quickly pumped out of the carafe was hardly on par with a Starbucks. Boring, bitter, and obviously kicking around since the morning I couldn't even finish it. I tried the house blend and the cup was simple, near flavorless unless you count "old" as a flavor and hardly up to the standards that I experianced at other Batdorf wholesale accounts. They did have some cool wooden bowls though... Needless to say I wont be back for seconds.

Hodgepodge has become one of my favorite coffee shops. I have been several times and have always been pleased. The staff is very friendly and patient, offering suggestions to new coffee drinks and baked goodies. As with other coffee shops, there is a large variety of coffee and tea drinks available. They are served in big mugs for those that stay to enjoy, which is a personal favorite of mine. Brunch is served on the weekend, and there are plenty of pastries, cookies, cupcakes, and more that are baked in house. All that I have tried have been amazing. I was surprised at the large size of the shop when I arrived for the first time, but after visiting a few times, I realize it allows for plenty of space to have privacy for a solo work session and cup of coffee or big enough to meet for a small business lunch or planning session. There are plenty of tables and places to sit with outlets located around the perimeter. There is a gallery that displays art from local artists. I have seen t-shirts displayed on clothespins on clotheslines, paintings, wall hangings, tapestries, and photographs on different nights all creatively placed for patrons to enjoy. There is a small stage in the corner. On one visit, a nearby elementary school was setting up for an open-mic night where students were sharing poetry, which was really cool. On one wall of this space, there are plenty toys for children to play with, which is great because it would be great to meet up with friends while the kids enjoy themselves too. In this room, you will see that it is filled with foldable chairs and tables. They are not my favorite, but I understand they are easy to move for the room which is so versatile. There are three different seating spaces, that I noticed, inside and a few seats outside in the back to enjoy some fresh air. I like to sit in the oversized couches and comfy chairs outside of the gallery space. There are also book shelves with a books to swap on it. There is ample parking here. It is super family friendly.

I give this establishment 5 stars for their amazing cupcakes\catering. After a wedding cake disaster I was a month from my wedding with no cake options. A friend told me that Hodgepodge had catered cupcakes for her friend's wedding and they were amazing, Hodgepodge saved the day with the cupcakes and they were SO good at a very fair price point. Catering win As for the coffeeshop, it's nothing fancy but it's a spacious and friendly neighborhood spot. Everything I've had is good and the shop has the feel of a real community inspired space. It's definitely laid back so if meetings mixed with kid shenanigans aren't your thing go elsewhere, however if you're looking for a nice spot in East Atlanta for a good conversation, look no further

Coming from NYC to Atlanta for a conference I was shocked to find a paleo-friendly coffee shop, and right in my area! The coffee is good (apparently from a reputable local roastery), but the paleo pastries and breakfast options baked in-house by the staff are the real star of the show here. Got a coconut chocolate tart and it was delicious. The staff is great too -- I walked in exactly as they opened and they were cheery and more than willing to answer my out-of-towner questions. This place has everything the grains-conscious crowd could ask for, but would be great for "normal" customers as well.

Pros They carry Batdorf and Bronson Staff is friendly The space is very large The assortment of pastries and food is nice Free wi-fi Free parking and a lot of it Cons Uncomfortable folding chairs Couches seemed to be draped with old sheets/cloth Like its name "Hodgepodge" the interior seems to be thrown together (maybe that was the point of the name) All in all I will return but not linger due to their less than comfortable seating, to go please.

One of my favorite coffee shops in town! A great space for a quiet cup or to meet people. The staff is super friendly and the owners get to know the regulars! There is a space for kids and the place is open enough that taking your kids there isn't a big deal. There are a few baristas that are better than others, so more consistency would be nice.

Its a funky spot to get some coffee and art. I didn't enjoy my cup of coffee, actually threw it away. I'm sure that the flavor of coffee is enjoyable to others, but I just didn't enjoy. It was a cool spot and I would return if I am in the area and want to try another flavor of coffee.

Pros: Coffee was good. Staff was was friendly and helpful. Location is great, for me, at least. Cons: Seating. I was hoping to camp out for a few hours and do some work on my laptop, but the seats in the main seating area, as mentioned in other posts, are the cheap plastic folding kind. My biggest complaint, though, is the location of all seating--next to windows facing south, making it nearly impossible to view my screen. Also, the seating area with the couches was closed off due to a private event, thus halving the avaiable seating. Overall, it seems promising, and the location is great for me, but the poor seating and harsh light make it unreasonable for work/study during the day.

I love cafes with a comfortable lounge for work and school work hours, but this cafe lacks the seating comfort and lack of food choices but is cute and artsy. Positive Feedback: (1) Great coffee by Batdorf & Bronson! (2) Great art and decor. (3) Great customer service. Negative Feedback: (1) The parking lot location is probably the worst I've seen in a while. It's impossible to take a left most of the time. (2) No food menu, just vegan/healthy biscuits and maybe a few other things that usually run out by the early afternoon. (3) All of the seats (in exception to the one couch with an unusable coffee table) are basic/standard plastic chairs with no cushion for the butt or back. I cannot see myself staying for too long in those chairs. (4) There is a nice little living room area but no tables to put books, paper, or laptops productively on. (5) They don't serve frozen drinks unless it's Spring or Summer. :o( Otherwise, its a great little place, but not a place to sit comfortably for studying and etc.

The space is splendid. The drinks have consistently not tasted that great. I am literally holding a newborn and the drink I ordered was delivered to me with whipped cream dripping all over the side with the barista telling me "just wanted you to get your money's worth"...so I am literally standing at the counter drinking the drink down and wiping the side of the drink with an excess of napkins and the whipped cream ended up 'being' the drink...which was completely not manageable with the baby in tow...they overpowered the drink with whipped cream and it ended up not havign any flavor or tasting like anything....again, the space is great, but this was the third not so great drink I have had there...

I'm not a coffee drinker but I went in several months ago when the weather was cold to get some hot chocolate and was great. But what really keeps me coming back are the Jamaican Patties - they're a kind of savory pastry filled with beef, chicken, spinach or vegetables and SO good. The place itself is clean, quite large and has a ton of seating and free wifi for customers. Service is militantly friendly, and I mean that in a good way. We definitely need more places like this in the Ormewood/Grant Park area.

I really like this place. Nice people, neat atmosphere, great drinks and their food is pretty damn good too. I had a basil butternut squash soup there and it was FANTASTIC. I like to hang out here, read zines from the ATL zine library and drink a cup of tea while waiting for my laundry to wash and dry.

The breakfast sandwich I had here was alright. The turkey sausage just doesn't quite cut it. I'll need to try the other stuff before I decide if this place is worth visiting or not. Also, their yelp deal isn't active anymore and yet they didn't contact Yelp to take it down. Sketchy...

Its great.

I'm lucky to have such a great place, so close to home.

... By far, this is absolutely one of the BEST tea / coffee spots in the ATL! I love luv this spot. Almost hate to keep tea / coffee hopping but there are so many interesting spots in the ATL.

Well... this place is convenient and the service is great.

  • Kathleen M.

Thanks!

I returned to Hodgepodge to try their weekend brunch and was wowed yet again. The banana coconut pancakes were different, but delish and the roasted sweet potatoes melted in my mouth. My latte was also sooooo good. Love this place and it's special quirkiness.

ATL aliens and other earthlings teleport here. It's more than a coffee shop. They host different events and support local Atlanta art. Best coffee place in town and free wifi.

I'll stick to Alon's, Starbucks, and Good Karma for coffee though (and yea, retire the T-shirt, you haven't earned the rights to wear it... yet).

Quite an awesome experience here. I loved the artsy feeling. The baristas are amiable and were ready to help me decide drinks. Heck, one of them even offered my friend a kitten with his coffee! Definitely coming back if I'm in the area. The mural outside is awesome too.

Plus, that end of Moreland Ave could use a few nicer establishments, here's hoping HodgePodge is leading the charge.

triple chocolate cupcake = light 'n moist chocolate cake + dreamy chocolate buttercream + mini chocolate chips iced americano = good as it gets this place is just too cute, and i had no idea it was just down the street from me. i'm dying to come back and try a savory cheese and bacon biscuit or a jamaican beef patty. they looked legit! it's a large space, and i spent hours on a couch catching up with a friend. it's knick knacky and unique. the seating set up is a bit awkward, and the crazy couches will swallow you whole. but overall, the coffee, snacks and service with a smile will bring me back.
