Overall Excellent! sizable portions, great food with a nice twist, reasonable prices, fantastic "diner" environment and music (70-80's punk/ early 80's alternative/ indie) Great service- we will be back! one of my downtown Atl new favorites!

I hesitate to write a review because I am a bit protective of this midtown find. Most patrons are local and the breakfast is my routine. I usually get the huevos ranchero which I will always enjoy but today I went with their signature avocado toast which was delicious. Coffee. . .being from Chicago I couldn't be happier as Hi Five serves Intelligencia. Keep it to yourself but for a new person in town the community seating is great.

Terrible service. Food was cold. Took 20 minutes to get a cup of coffee. I will never go back and never recommend it to a friend.

Food and service was wonderful, I had the tomato basil soup that was more basil than tomato so I probably won't have that again. Our server was lovely and our food came out quickly!

I believe there are 3 things that can set you apart in the business world: 1) Excellent customer service, 2) Genuine kindness, 3) Style. Hi- Five Diner just so happens to have all 3. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted warmly and chatted with the bartender. Due to extreme allergies, I could not taste any food when I walked through the door. However, that wasn't going to stop me from trying the Killer Diner Burger with bacon and avocado that I read about in several articles. I intended on just taking the food home and eating it later if my taste buds ever decided to start working again. By simply asking a few questions the bartender offered a concoction that she said should help with my sinus issues. By the time I arrived home, my sinuses parted like the Red Sea and my taste buds rejoiced in savoring what has to be one of the best classic hamburgers around. It was perfectly juicy, and requires two hands and a hair clip for your hair to really chow down properly:) It's experiences like these that create good karma and good will in a place of business. Hi-Five Diner will certainly become a regular spot to visit.

I keep trying cause the place is so cool and has so much potential. But... As usual it is all about execution. Nasty rubbery and greasy chicken wings? Really? This is something that should be so easy to do well. Who serves toast and makes you request butter pats? And can you really charge extra for tomato on a sandwich when it's refrigerated slightly red mush? Come on guys, get the details right. Oh and when you get cheddar on a sandwich it should not be that shredded cheddar-like stuff that has a melting point of 212. Order the avocado toast - it's consistently good. September 15, Latest update: again it's the details- if you buy lousy, dry, mealy bagels, you will serve lousy, dry, mealy bagels. Invest in good ingredients. The coffee is bitter and you serve it with creamer cups instead of a nice little carafe of fresh half and half. Your service is so good but your management buys cheap. Try a little. BTW the chicken chile is quite tasty.

When this was Villains we only came here to drink because the food was so boring. I had hoped that Hi-Five would be better. We came here last weekend for brunch. I got a Bloody Mary and the fried green tomato sandwich. My drink was fantastic! My food had no flavor whatsoever! My gf got the buffalo chicken sandwich and she said it had no flavor either.... A buffalo chicken sandwich with no flavor???? C'mon! For $10 I expect a sandwich to not taste completely bland. I see the same complaint in other reviews too. This was the same problem that Villains had as well so if I want a tasty sandwich, I'll just go to the sandwich place a few doors down. I wish that there was a separate category to rate the service and drinks because I am always happy with those. I feel like if I have to slather my food with hot sauce for it to have any flavor at all that I had might as well just eat at home.

I'll give them an average rating. (5 for the service averaged with a 1 for the food.) The service from Matt behind the bar was exceptional. He introduced himself immediately and offered recommendations and was very very attentive. Kudos to him. The food I ordered wasn't very impressive. The burger was actually acceptable and had alot of potential, but there was something missing in the flavor. It needed salt bad, but Matt was busy helping other customers at the time I wanted to request it, so I just decided to do without it. The sides I ordered were some of the worst I've ever had. The corn salad which I assumed was cold, came out piping hot... which I thought was odd to serve hot, and the taste was terrible (it needed some salt or something). I told Matt 'this simply won't work' and I requested the Asian slaw. That was the most flavorless slaw I ever had. I seemed to be just shreds of red cabbage with nothing on it. It seems to have had a slight amount of some kind of liquid on it, but for all the flavor it had, the liquid must have been water. The service was good, but I will avoid this place in the future..... unless they offer some kind of BOGO special on burgers.. I'll just be sure to request salt. ;)

This is a really cool idea and great location. Have to love a diner with a bar - and an outdoor bar. The menu is a great take on a more creative, high-end diner. Good ingredients and huge portions. Have to admit though that food execution feel short. It was somewhat bland and but evenly cooked. For instance, one breakfast potato would be awesomely crunchy and a nearby piece would be virtually raw. Overall, good enough to go back for a second chance.

This place isn't good. I want to like them but can't. They get one star only because of the atmosphere. I have given multiple chances but it's always wrong or gross. The bartender Jeff doesn't pay attention. Not coming back.

I absolutely love this place! Reminds me of the quirky diner-style restaurants back in Philly, my former home. We come here at least 3 times a week, at least one of those occasions is strictly for coffee. I'm a huge coffee connoisseur, was even a supervisor at Starbucks for a year, and nothing beats this place. As a vegan since childhood, I love that I have multiple options here, and that my picky meat eater boyfriend does too. It's hard to find a restaurant that caters to enough dietary restrictions like this place does. Staff is knowledgable of ingredients, very friendly, and very attentive. Never had a bad experience and we've been eating here regularly since the day it opened. I even take my ovo-vegetarian parents here when they visit. My father, a penny pinching accountant also loves the prices. My reccomendations? The avocado toast, hi-five salad, and of course the almond milk latte. (The cocktails and beer selection are also extremely awesome, especially the fish-free Bloody Mary!)

beware before getting coffee with your meal....they offer bottomless coffee when dining in, but if you want a coffe to go from your bottomless dine in coffe. ...you will be charged an extra 50 cents....so tacky and petty

I wanted to love this place but service and food were both below average. If the French toast doesn't melt the butter, it's not hot enough. Bacon was raw. Cheese grits were bland. The only very positive comment at the table was for their bloody mary. The wait staff seemed overwhelmed which let to long waits to place orders. Management asked what we thought and was a little combative when we made one comment in one dish. They're new so I'll probably give them one more shot but my 3 stars are pretty generous.

RIP my favorite sandwich ever :( I was a big fan of the Odd Job sandwich at Villains. Based on reviews, I was under the impression Hi-Five still served the sandwich- awesome. Sadly, that isn't true. There is a fried Korean bbq chicken sandwich, but it's nowhere near as good as the Odd Job. The sauce was not the same, there was no mayo or pears (as before) in the "slaw"- I think it was just limp, slightly pickled cabbage. The replacement Korean chicken sandwich is boring in terms of flavor and texture. The waiter said I wasn't the first to complain/ask. Why not give the people what they want? The Odd Job was clearly a hit and, clearly, enough customers still request the sandwich. Worse yet, I talked up this place to a date, who was clearly not impressed. I'd say that generally, the food options were boring and the restaurant is redundant- there are way better diners in the area.

My server was friendly however the food was sub par. I ordered the short stack with scrambled eggs. The pancakes were tough and the eggs were overcooked and very bland. My friend ordered the Buffalo wings and she said they tasted like they were frozen and then warmed up. Between the flies and the gnats this was a bad dining experience. Definitely won't be back.

Totally inconsistent! I have been about 10 times. Food is usually OK, but never the same two times in a row. The service is up and down, too. To the owner that sits at the bar on his computer, look around! Hire people that are customer focused. Maybe even say hello to your customers. I have sat by you more than once without even an acknowledgment or "thank you for coming in." I know that Villains had some connection to the new place, but certainly not the same staff. The prior staff was personable, remembered my name and were very attentive. Make some hard decisions and get a staff that cares. Also, how hard can it be to make potatoes that are cooked? When chopped into inconsistent sizes, the big pieces are not cooked the same as the small ones. Not rocket science. I want you to make it, but at this rate, you will not last as long as Villains. Maybe just open another Grind House instead?

I like High Five- quirky interior, friendly staff with a small but varied menu of food you actually want to eat. Tasty cocktails too. You sit inside or out. Today I had the yogurt, granola and fruit for breakfast. Very good!!!

I just left here and had a couple of grapefruit breakfast cocktails for dinner tonight. My gf had the chicken chili which she was pleased with and I had the fried green tomato sandwich on sourdough that I added chicken to and it was soo tasty. I will definitely be coming back for a couple of other drinks I want to try on the menu. Glad they are in the neighborhood!

What a great, trendy neighborhood find! While visiting Atlanta, we ate breakfast, lunch and dinner at Hi-Five and played "Dirty Bingo" on Thursday night. What a hoot! The avocado toast with tomato and feta cheese is absolutely delicious! And the fried green tomatoes were the best I've ever tasted! The staff is extremely friendly and colorful! Casual, creative and scrumptious! A must place to eat whether you're visiting or live in Atlanta.

I have visited this establishment multiple times and I have enjoyed each experience. I encourage everyone to give this place a try. I have tried the: Roasted Tomato Basil Soup, Chicken Sandwich with Korean Chili Sauce, Shrimp Po-boy, and Kale Salad with Miso Dressing. I have also had items from the breakfast side of the menu (eggs and grits). While all the items previously mentioned were quite good, comments must be extended to a couple of those menu items. The restaurant doesn't cook the grits to a creamy texture. Creamy grits are expected and desired in the South. Although the Tomato Basil Soup has great flavor, the pureed texture may not be what you expect. Try it and you will not be disappointed. The wonderful Kale Salad with Miso Dressing appeared on the menu in one size in the beginning. It has been changed to lunch (small) and dinner (large). I look foward to my next meal.

I had the korean chicken sandwich and it was awesome. This place is going to be a stalwart in the neighborhood if they keep serving a solid lunch and dinner. And, I have a feeling it'll be a go-to breakfast spot that is a huge upgrade from J. Christopher's on Spring.

This must be a joke. We paid $7 for Disco Fries, Poutined (brown gravy & cheese.) They not only completely forgot about the gravy, but they charge $7 much for small amount of potato?! My Canadian relatives would be appalled. Someone should send the owner & cooks from here to Bantam + Biddy so that they can see/taste how great poutine is really done!

Is this a gay bar? I'm not sure if maybe I was hella drunk or everyone around me was gay. Which if so, yay! Because they are fun and fabulous. I came here as mentioned after a day of drinking at the Braves game and then some more at other bars. We ordered the quesadilla and two chicken sandwiches. Maybe it's the liquor talking but everything was SCRUMPTIOUS. Our server was prompt and personable considering our state and I appreciate that a lot because some workers don't have patience for tipsy patrons. Super cute place and I highly recommend it. It's a diner, so clearly a Michelin star restaurant it ain't. For what it is, I approve!

As an Atlantans more native to the typical brunch places serving Benedict as the go-to Sunday meal, I was a bit skeptical trying a diner out for brunch, but I was blown away! The place has a TON of seating, both inside and out, and the bar has a large opening to outside so you can at inside or outside and still sit at the bar. As for atmosphere, the servers are phenomenally friendly, a great example of Southern hospitality. As for the food, I've had a total of one thing on the menu, and it's so wonderful I've returned and plan on continuing returning: the croissant sandwich with scrambled eggs, American cheese, bacon, and avocado. The croissant is perfectly soft but manages to hold everything together. The cheese has always come out fully melted; the bacon has some crisp to it, and they don't skimp on the avocado (which is the best part.) Though I can't speak to the rest of the menu, the breakfast sandwich and atmosphere alone definitely merit the 5 stars.

Walked in and was greeted by 2 staff members! So my first reaction was how nice they were! They are not very busy during lunch so if you want attentive service, they will deliver on that. I ordered the Miso Salad which was mainly kale and dry ramen (creative touch!) and a miso dressing. The portion was big. Not what I was expecting for the price. So I was very full at the end of my meal. They have "Dirty Bingo" every Thursday with prizes and I havent tried it yet but I plan on going soon! This was a great find! I work nearby so I may come here for lunch more often.

Randomly came here since I was kind of lazy in picking what I wanted for dinner. Parking - Not bad. They have parking in the front and in the back. I didn't see the valet folks, so... maybe they got rid of it? I'd also park in the parking garage and hit up Sweet Hut after your meal so they can validate your ticket (2 hours)! But then again, this really depends on how long your meal takes (ordering, cooking, and eating) Space - they have outdoor and indoor seating. They also have an interesting set up for the bar. They have a TV for folks too. My only gripe - wish they'd get something for the flies. Dear Lord. Every 10 seconds I had to swat a fly from my table/chair. Made my mood turn a little sour. Service - So... the girl I had was really inattentive. She was too busy chatting away with her co worker that she failed to pay any attention to our table. We were her ONLY table... ONLY. That alone took away a star. I should also note that the manager (?) was too busy watching the Women's Soccer Team on the TV that he also didn't really look around if other tables (besides the bar) needed help. Again - we were the only table. :( Food - Wings - half buffalo and half Korean sauce. I'd pass on this. Unless you want massive wings with ok sauce. Not going to lie - the wings were pretty big. Bigger than your typical ones. But the sauces were not really that great. I think Zaxby's made better ones. I'm a wing person, so I'll more than likely order wings if I see them on a menu. Mexican Styled Grilled Chicken Burger with Fries - I think they should redo this burger. Grilled Chicken was super dry. The green salsa tasted bland. The pickles were ok in it. I think they should make the chicken a bit juicier + let the customer have red AND green salsas + use something else (not pickles). The only redeeming thing: Fries. They were pretty good. Crispy and hot.

Recently, I've been going to Hi-Five for the restaurant's weekly Dirty Bingo session. Here's my feedback on a few different points: Activities: I highly recommend checking out Hi-Five for Dirty Bingo. They host it every Thursday at 8 pm. I'm always a fan of triva, and this is just as fun except you don't really need to know anything too detailed aside from tv and movie theme songs. Groups/Seating: This place is great for groups with seating both inside and outside. It's loud but not too loud. Food: While this is only based on one meal, I was pleasantly surprised by the food. I ordered the Miso Caesar salad with grilled chicken. The miso dressing and ramen noodle "croutons" gave the kale a great flavor and the grilled chicken was phenomenal. The food was much better than I expected for a "diner". Parking: It's nice that Hi-Five has a private parking lot. The only downside is that it's shared with Bezoria and Noodles, so spots can fill up quickly, However, street parking is easy to find, especially on Juniper (free after 6:30 I think). This is a great option for a casual meal or if you want some fun activities!

Hi-Five opened a day or two ago upon the writing of this review. Villains Sandwich Bar was formerly in this space, and Hi-Five is a venture from one of the partners of that place. That means some of the items from the Villains menu - especially its signature cocktails - can be found on the Ho-Five Diner. There isn't a real diner-style restaurant in this part of MIdtown, and Hi-Five's late hours, full bar, and patio space (including outdoor bar seating), give it some unique touches as well. I had the Cereal Killer. For $4.50, you get unlimited cereal, served in those tiny boxes from the variety packs you may remember as a kid. This, as well as all breakfast items, are served all day and night, and I can definitely picture myself coming back for a cereal fix in the evening sometime soon. I also had a side of bacon, which was more than serviceable. Overall, this new diner is worth trying and has great service. Here's hoping it sticks around longer than its predecessor!

Go here for lunch or breakfast, skip dinner. Their bar program is very middle of the road which for the area is disappointing. The staff is also very middle of the road and hit or miss, don't be surprised if something comes out wrong. The food is solid, but nothing wows me. They've got the classic diner menu down pat and everything is what you would expect or better. As someone who lives within walking distance, I frequent it least out of the places in the area as it is surrounded by great options.

Hi-Five Diner is located in between Bezoria and Noodle off Peachtree Street. Upon entering with two of my friends for a late brunch, a server told us to grab a seat anywhere. Shortly after, another server brought us menus and took our drink orders. INTERIOR/EXTERIOR This restaurant provides booth, bar, and table seating. There's a coffee bar and a cocktail bar. Very nice little joint to grab a quick bite. Chill atmosphere. PARKING Valet or metered or street parking FOOD -Smoked Salmon Avocado Toast: this brunch entree was delicious and light. the avocado toast was so tasty. the avocado was creamy and citrusy. i added smoked salmon and it was perfect. this dish came with a side of light salad and fruits (alot of them were filler fruits like honeydew and cantelopue. meh.) SERVICE Our server was okay. I could tell he was having a bad day, but he pulled through. Answered all questions we had as far as recommending dishes. He checked up on us and refilled our coffee/water.

This new midtown diner has taken over the spot on Peachtree formerly occupied by Villains Wicked Heroes, which was the previous restaurant concept by the same owner. Sadly, Hi-Five Diner, like Villains before it, is lacking some sort of "wow" factor to make it stand out. While the food was good, it just wasn't great. My diner burger was also quite pricey by the time I added all of the a la carte toppings to it. With all of the other choices in the area, I would probably opt for another restaurant over this one. On a floorplan note: they may want to see about adjusting the layout of the space. One of the entrance doors is located directly in front of the seating tables, and since we were there on a cold day everyone in that area was blasted by freezing wind every time the door opened.

Love this place. Yes, they bill themselves as a diner but really...it's a great little restaurant that serves awesome craft cocktails and craft beer. This is FAST becoming one of our favorite places for dinner or brunch and let me tell you why. The food is amazing! The Cobb Salad is one of my favorites...huge salad with fresh lettuce, eggs, bacon, avocado, and chicken. It's a huge portion served with a lemon vinaigrette on the side. It's normally served with blue cheese crumbles however not being a fan of that kind of cheese I always ask them to take that off for me. The Club, which my boyfriend has had looks AMAZING! Again, huge portion with fresh lettuce , tomato , chicken breast. The fries are really good, especially with gravy. Another favorite of mine is on the brunch/breakfast menu: Huevos Rancheros! Soooo good with the Green chilies and over easy eggs. Good local beer selection including Creature Comforts, Terrapin, and Orpheus to name a few. The service is really fun, and they even do things like dirty trivia on certain nights of the week. Did I mentioned the fantastic malts and shakes that they make from scratch?!? Go, now! :).

We were visiting the Margaret Mitchell House and it was around lunchtime and looking for something within walking distance from the house and we stumbled upon the Hi-Five Diner. The restaurant itself does not look too big, but there is outdoor seating as well, which might be shared with the other two restaurants that is by Hi-Five Diner. There's also a bar here, and it's unique as you can sit at the bar either inside the diner or outside on the patio. And the decor makes you think you're back in the 50's. Our visit was during the lunch hour and inside did not look too busy (but also the start of the holiday weekend), and was able to find a table without a problem. Not sure if they were understaffed, but it seemed like it took longer than what it should have for as many diners there was at the time of our visit, but our server was friendly. Food was good - you're typical diner food (breakfast is served all day), but nothing over the top. Overall great visit!

Two stars looks like a harsh slam, but it fits: Hi-Five is just shy of middle-of-the-road. First of all, we were crazy about Villains, the sandwich place that occupied that space prior. Server told me that the very popular Korean chicken sandwich from the Villains days was still available, and it was exactly the same. It wasn't. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't the same as before. Other person in my party got the Hi-Five Club Sandwich & fries. Verdict: Meh. Forgettable. Wasn't spectacular, but wasn't awful. Much better options are available in the neighborhood.

Visited Hi Five with my sister recently. Our waitress was outstanding, and the cereal bar (endless individual boxes of various brand name cereals) is a clever idea-- I'll totally go there for cereal breakfast sometime! I got the burger, and it was just okay. The bun was outstanding, but the burger itself wasn't particularly flavorful, even with the pickles and special sauce. More problematic was that it wasn't really hot. I had the same issue when the place was Villains-- dishes all seemed to be lukewarm at best, and sometimes just straight up cold. I was never a huge fan of Villains. Hi Five is better, but seems to suffer from the same pitfalls Villains had-- a menu that seems to be surprising and innovative twists on classics, but really is just differently seasoned at best and boring at worst. I'll be back...for the cereal bar.

Cozy and very accommodating. Great little hang out spot that has the authentic diner feel. Came in to grab a quick bite while chatting with friends. I am a lover of customer service and its like this place knew it! I chatted it up with my server, another waiter, the hostess and the manager. And no... we were no where near the only patrons in the establishment. They had a nice crowd both indoor and out. Ordered the fries topped with white chicken chili. Ok.. this is a while meal. Huge portion of home style fries topped with onion, chicken (chili), sauce/gravy, beans and cheese. Very flavorful and much more than I had expected. I will definitely be returning!

So I'm in Midtown with an hour kill and need coffee, wifi, and an electrical outlet for the iPhone. Their food and coffee may be great at the 5 but I wouldn't know. Yes, they have coffee, but no wifi and no electrical outlets. And a big guy behind one of the counters made it sound like I was off base by suggesting they might want to get get their wifi router repaired. Really?. I took my bidness elsewhere.

This place is way cool! The bartender is super friendly and so are the people there! They have an outside bar so when it's raining it feels like your in the Bahamas or something. I'm just visiting here but my husband and I have made a point to stop by now at least 3 R 4 times. If your looking for a place to just stop n chill a minute n have a drink I Highly recommend you stop here!
