My wife and I thought the food and service were both great. We got a Pepperoni & Meatball pizza and it was spectacular. Yum yum gonna come back and get me some. Our waiter was a hippie dude - very cool guy with good beer recommendations.

I always enjoying stopping here. It's such a cute, neighborhood spot, and the staff are always friendly and welcoming. It's never extra crowded and I always appreciate that. It's never loud. No one smoking. Great artwork. Goooooooood food.

Ok, so, I love me some pizza and was so excited about this place after reading all the reviews. Buuuuut the pizza was just ok. The sauce was a little spicy, which was ok for me, but my 2 year old was NOT a fan. She didn't eat much and kept telling me her tongue was "too spicy". Cute atmosphere, amazing service, but only mediocre pie- not a pizza I can see myself ever wanting more of.

I love Grand Central Pizza! The crust is thin yet holds well the array of fresh ingredients they have to offer. When I crave pizza, I come here because I know I won't be disappointed and I can try new, fresh ingredients. The manager here is awesome! She is just cool and will chat when it's not too busy. They always have a discounted wine and dessert of the day!, who doesn't want wine with pizza. Their salads are also big and delicious and they offer innovative salad selections. Being in Grant Park, it is also very family friendly and just a simple, cool atmosphere. Not any raucous and they don't have a full bar. You can do a family night, date night or a quick run in. You won't be disappointed - the flavor here is definitely on point!

I was actually going to give this spot 3 stars because the pizza itself was just alright when it was served fresh to the table, one of the main reasons for this was because sections of the crust were a little soggy from all the toppings, but we couldn't eat a whole large so we brought home a couple slices and I ate them for breakfast. I popped those slices in the oven for about 5 and a half minutes and they came out perfect. They have a great quality crust. Also, they have a cheap beer selections from $2-$4 for standard bottles and craft drafts for around $5

This is a neighbourhood joint, and it most definitely holds it's own in terms of service, artwork and food. I had a Caesar salad and two slices and was impressed by the size and abundance of cheese on both. My slices had olives and the crust was definitely worthy of devouring. Went here during a canvassing operation. While we didn't win, the pizza was good.

I stopped in for a quick lunch after a morning of sight seeing and it hit the spot. My lasagna was perfect, the service and atmosphere was cozy, relaxing and fun. I also enjoyed the neighborhood. If I lived in Atlanta, I would be back in a flash.

Thursday, August 14th, Noel, Tony and I decided to go to Atlanta to visit the zoo. After walking around for 3 1/2 hr hours, we were starving!!! So, I grabbed my smartphone and searched YELP app for a nearby restaurant that served beer for Tony and had good reviews...so up pops Grant Central Pizza and Pasta..which was only up the street 1/2 mile...so hey WHY NOT??? Normally, I want to try the pizza but Tony and I opted to share a Calzone with four cheeses and marinara sauce..and we added pepperoni and meatballs.. Noel ordered Chicken Alfredo Pasta and we ordered the Garlic Toast with Mozzarella cheese...we got soda and Tony ordered a PBR in a bottle.. The interior is very nice!!! The waitress was very friendly and helpful!!! It was around 1:30 and not very crowded..you can tell this is a neighborhood eatery!!! They also have a little outside dining on the sidewalk, and plenty inside with a bar area... I loved the interior artwork, looked local!! The food arrived in about 20 minutes, all together so not bad!! There was only three pieces of garlic cheese bread with NO marinara sauce!!! Strange!! but the bread was good!! But a little pricey for the quantity and no dipping sauce! Noel's pasta looked wonderful!! But apparently the chicken was blackened or something and she said hey a strange taste..but it was good and she enjoyed it. Our calzone was large!!! But there was no sauce INSIDE...only the cheese and meat...the sauce was on the side so you had to put it on there yourself..Tony hated that!!! I just put mine on top,, but he had to pull his apart and open it up and add the sauce and there was not enough sauce..so he was unhappy... But, it tasted pretty good!!! I would order it again, but I would have to remember to ask for my sauce INSIDE.... Price, tip and taxes was $35...hummm.... A little pricy for me!! But it was good!! I would eat here again!!

I love how cool calm & casual this place is . I use to work at Zoo Atlanta & would pass by it all the time ! The pizza is cooked to order & the salads are made fresh I love it . Nice place to bring your family & friends . Very nice place to attend after or before zoo Atlanta . I would recommend after because the portion size are large & you will get full

By far the best pizza place in town. Love the calzones, pastas, and the salads. I feel like I get great value at grant central. The good is very tasty. Been going here for years and it's simply the best.

Although a bit on the pricier side, this place is a guilty pleasure. I love their pesto pizza. The crust is absolutely to die for.

This place is great. Great food, great vibe, great neighborhood, IT'S GREAT ALRIGHT!??! Came here last weekend with the wife and George, the dog we were sittin'. Our server recognized George, but not us, which was awkward, but we explained everything. We sat outside and ordered a pitcher of 420 because it's delicious and chatted while we watched biker (as in bicycle) boys drink tallboys and try to lift up old-timey cars at the bike repair shop across the street. We ordered a large meat lovers pizza. I would go here weekly if I lived in the area. Great place.

I ordered two slices of garlic and mushrooms. I wasn't expected huge cloves just to be sitting in the middle of my slice - it was kind of overwhelming. Also, it was clear that the pizza wasn't fresh (at all) and that they had just thrown the mushrooms and garlic on top and put it in the over. While I would rate this experience with 2 stars, I've had their veggie pizza (a friend had ordered an entire pizza....so it was fresh) and it was yummy. So, maybe the key is to stick with the whole pizzas and leave the slices to the dogs. SN: Parking is kind of limited, bike or walk here

Grant Central is a great place with a dedicated staff. Here's a story of staff dedication. On August 7th, 2014 a big storm caused a power outage in the neighborhood around northern Grant Park. The power of course went out at Grant Central too. However, the staff kept taking orders and running credit cards manually. The chefs in the kitchen used flashlights to find ingredients. My salad and pizza still came out extraordinary. A little later the staff got there hands on a generator to keep everything going into the night hours. Why does this matter to you? The staff's expertise and dedication are such that you'll get great pizza and great service every time, even in a power outage.

Wow. Bad service. Bad food. Ordered meatball marinara with FOUR meatballs on menu description, got two. Caesar salad was SWIMMING in bottled dressing. Waitress rushed us and was awful the whole time while the restaurant was EMPTY. Not surprised. Just awful!

  • Carril A.

Pizza was average nothing spectacular, I went around 6pm and service was average as well. I sat at the bar, one of the waitresses was really sweet, while the tall lady who appeared to be the manager or possible the owner was abrupt to the point of rudeness; example: when I asked for a to go box for my pizza, she hastily plopped it down in between me and a customer around 8 mins later and walked away. I wasn't sure if it was an empty box or someone's to go order (the box was closed). Anyway, pizza was okay nothing to rage about.

2.90 Veggie deluxe. Description sounds awesome: artichoke, sun dried tomatoes, spinach, extra cheese, BREADED eggplant... Sounds awesome right? Grumpy cat: nope. Didn't really taste much except the meh generic tomato paste. Wine was good. Crust was good. Nice Xmas lights

After 5 hours of adventure at Zoo Atlanta our appetites were roaring, so out comes YELP to the rescue! A quick search of the area for a family friendly place and Grant Central pops up. A local flavor place not far with a funky menu and brew. Sounds perfect, and well, it was! This is nestled in an older but hip little section of ATL across the street from Loose Nuts bike shop.Oh and this place isn't far from Turner Field so if your down for a game come early and eat here first. Also I can see why others said parking could be a pain especially at peak hours since this is mainly in a residential neighborhood. But there is a small parking lot available if you get there early enough. Anyway the employees were friendly and helpful, the paintings on the wall were funky & fun, and the A/C was working good so it felt great in there. I ordered a Watermelon salad which was refreshing and very tasty. We also got a small Veggie pizza, which actually was big enough for me and my wife to enjoy and have a leftover piece. Its actually about the size of a medium at most chains pizza joints. The veggie pizza was actually really good and seasoned just right. We are usually meat eaters and I really didn't miss it on this one. We got a piece of their crunchy chocolate cake and it came out in a huge slab that the whole group devoured. Overall this place rocks, cool staff, funky atmosphere, good for kids, and the food was great. Definitely coming back here next time I'm in town.

Great pizza, amazing service and really good crust! This place is like an improved, homemade papa johns pizza with a surplus amount of actual ingredients. Their crust is crunchy on the outside - soft and tasty on the inside. The overall pizza was really tasty!

I've given this place second, third and fourth tries but it consistently lets me down. While the pizza is decent, the real failure at Grant Central is it's management and staffing. The dining room is small and there's no excuse for the lack of service. On my most recent visit, the dining room was half empty (maybe 3-5 tables occupied) and still our small order took over an hour. I've worked in pizza places so I know it doesn't take much more than 20 minutes per pizza pie so that's peculiar. Of course, there could be to-go orders holding things up, small ovens or re-do's in out way but how would we know? Time waiting aside, the biggest failure is the lack of communication from our server. Not once were our drinks refilled or told that the kitchen was backed up so our food would be delayed. We had one small child with us and they didn't offer anything to help hold her over (until we asked for a few saltines.) Tables were left dirty, people had dirty salad plates stacked and waiting to be picked up and the servers seemed unable to multitask. The manager on duty seemed uninterested in helping her struggling waitstaff or helping appease frustrated patrons. What's happening to common courtesy and customer service in Atlanta? Did I mistakenly choose to eat at Emo Central Pizza? I beg you, please teach your staff how to communicate with customers and properly manage your restaurant. Encourage them to have personality instead of acting disinterested. Servers work for tips and won't get any with poor attitudes. Grant Central has so much potential given it's location, good food and lack of competition but the lax service ruins it every time. It's a sad day when this Italian girl would rather get pizza from Little Caesars than return to your restaurant. Three strikes, you're out.

Love the slices and pasta. They also have great salads! I eat lunch here at least once a week. I end up eating dinner here at least every other weekend due to the fact that my girlfriend loves the pizza.

Love this place. We are regulars. The servers are always super nice and the food is always excellent. My favorite is the calzone, which is big enough to feed 2 people for sure. I usually get the arugula salad on the side because I love the combination of apples, cheese, and nuts. Also, the lemon dressing is delish. One time we picked up a large pie and took it to a Braves game. The Braves employees were LITERALLY salivating at how delicious the pizza smelled and looked so they tried to confiscate it. FAT CHANCE. Also, I think it's important to note that the East Atlanta location is not near as good as this one. Honestly. We went there once and were seriously disappointed. The Grant Park location is where it's at.

The absolute best pizza joint - local, metro wide or regional! The staff (both the wait staff and the kitchen staff) is rock solid and genuinely glad to see you! Even the cook, thinking he did not get my slice "just right" personally brought another one with his apologies (Even though I thought the first one was perfect!) Sarah, the manager, is awesome and keeps a sharp eye on customers and seems to lead her staff with a gentle, kind but firm hand! then again there isnt better wait staff anywhere.....I'm a regular, and always will be, for these reasons.

The service here is great. I always order a slice or two of their cheese pizza and the arugula salad. If you've never been, it is definitely worth a visit.

The pizza here is sooooooo good! The food is always good, the servers are always nice, and the atmosphere is great. My husband and I come with our dog (they have outside seating with doggy water bowls!) and are never disappointed. The meat lovers pizza is our favorite! We had friends visit over the weekend and HAD to bring them here--they loved it too! I definitely recommend this!

The absolute best pizza I've had in Atlanta! The prices are very affordable and everything is super fresh. The side salad is made exceptionally good because whatever ranch they use is epic! We order from there at least once a week and my job it's so good. Everyone is very friendly even you go to pick up good and they are super cool about modifications to the order.

Yumm! Not many pizza places can compare to the brick oven pizza that I can get back home but this place was pretty damn close. They have only a few speciality pizzas and a long list of toppings that you can choose from if you prefer to make your own pizza. They also have a few specialty beers and ciders that I can't buy at the store! Yum, I had the strongbow apple cider and it was a perfect touch to the great white pizza that I may have devoured in minutes...

My family & I have come here for 20+ years, since our kids were little, until now that they're (mostly) grown. We enjoyed then, and we enjoy now. I think the first time I came was for lunch, either before I married, or right after, then later, I brought my wife for supper, and she liked it, too. A few bum experiences suck, but consistency over decades is remarkable for any restaurant, especially if it's good! I could please my doctor with their lunch salad, not to mention my palate, though I could make my heart surgeon wealthier with a few delectable additions to a pizza or calzone. At supper, I can usually only eat about half of one of their delicious build-your-own pasta plates, so we get a go-box to share tomorrow. I'm enticed to many more returns.

Neat place near Grant Park. We stopped by for lunch and ordered the Deluxe Veggie and the Meat Lover. I had the Meat Lover and it was one of the best pizzas I've ever had. I didn't try the Deluxe Veggie but some of my friends did and they said it was even better than the Meat Lover.

SO GOOD! I came with my family, and we really enjoyed the food. Parking was a litle rough, but the food and atmosphere more than make up for it. My sister and I got Pesto Pizza with Pepperoni - which was AMAZING. My cousin got the chicken alfredo, and he said it was the most delicious thing he ever had. We had garlic bread appetizers, which were a little small, but so good. really wish the appetizer portions were bigger. Will we be returning - absolutely!! the food was awesome, the location is so nice, and the people were super friendly.

I have tried and tried to give this place a chance (about 6 times). I would love to support my local pizza shop. But time and time again this place has proven to me it has TERRIBLE service. The waitress I had last time was literally the rudest anyone has treated me in a restaurant. It made me so mad I won't even consider giving them my business for takeout.

We got take out, the pizza was pretty good and the breadsticks were amazing. Everybody was friendly and the restaurant had a good vibe. I would recommend it but it's not one of the best pizzas I've tasted.

The pizza slices are massive and yummy to boot. I loved the location - right in the heart of EAV. I also loved the cool vibe of the place. Any pizza joint that plays non-stop Bjork and retro movies gets 2-thumbs up from me. I had the 4-cheese lasagna and oh my!! I'm still savoring the cheesy goodness and it's been 3 days! The service was pretty cool and friendly, but the main draw was the pizza, which as I mentioned above, was HUGE! Huge and tasty, or so raved my friends. I'll definitely be heading back.

I went here on a Saturday evening for a pizza with my honey. It was a nice night and we decided to sit outside and eat. The tables are small and sit in a great location so you can see up and down the street. the put bowls out under the tables people that are dining with dogs. I don't have a dog but this was ok with me. The pizza we ordered was medium pepperoni with sausages on one side. It was very good! They put cheese oregano and red pepper out in shakers on the tables. As well as salt , pepper and garlic. You can Spice up your pizza however you like which is an extra special touch! WE also had a salad of the day which had fresh sliced strawberries spring mix toasted walnuts and feta cheese. It was tossed in a balsamic vinaigrette and it was delicious! We shared one because it was huge and only $6.00. In total we spent $27.00 for two beers, a medium pizza which has 6 huge slices, and a fantastic salad! I WILL BE RETURNING TO GRANT CENTRAL PIZZA!!

Abysmal service, mediocre food, and refusing to separate checks means that I will be taking my pizza business else where. This is really saying something considering that I live walking distance from Grant Central Pizza, and the location itself is incredibly convenient. However, too many horrifically slow work lunches with mis-delivered orders and attitude from the servers will have me heading to O4W to Vesuvius for all my pizza needs.

This place is a nice, cozy, cool spot to chill out at! I visited it for the first time today for dinner with a friend. The location of this place is great in the fact that it is right down the street from Grant Park & Zoo Atlanta. The food wasn't the best i've had but it wasn't bad either. I got a slice of pepperoni pizza & a plate of Chicken pasta. The prices are excellent. One person can def go here and get full for under $10. Our waitress(Jean) was really nice and gave us great service! If you are in the neighborhood, def check this place out! Outdoor seating is great also if it's a great day.

This place is not family friendly. The pizza is terrible. Saw a "roach" climbing on a wall. Restrooms are disgusting and stink! Employee going out of bathroom without washing hands! Please, avoid this place! I would rate this place 0 stars but minimum is one. If you love your children, don't come here.

    (1)
  • Keisha E.

I met some friends and their children for lunch after an outing to the zoo. We researched nearby restaurants in advance as the total group count was about 18 people. Grant Central seemed like a good option considering they were close to the zoo and their yelp profile noted "casual," "good for groups" and "good for kids." Well, from the moment we walked in and I saw one of the server's faces, I was uncomfortable. Turned out that she was not our server, which was good, but the other young lady who was started off very good but then seemed to take on the other server's attitude as the children began to play and make a little noise...you know, being kids. The kids were sitting at a booth by themselves (ages 5-7); we were at a long table directly in front of them. When their music making became a little louder, we of course instructed them to keep it down. However, it was hard to ignore the nonverbal looks of agitation we received as the other server walked pass our table. Our server crossed the line when she went to the booth and said something to the children (could not hear exactly what she said, but only heard "stop"). We made eye contact and I asked what she said, but she walked away. It was at that time that I said something to the other parents and one mentioned that the other server had come over and offered the children "a prize if you're quiet." EXCUSE ME?! I was livid. Grant Central should change their profile to good for kids, but with a limit. Their servers should be trained regarding communicating with customers (adults), not their children. I gave them two stars for the salad, which was great, but I've had better pizza. Of course the experience and looks we received ruined the entire experience so I could have done without the salad as well. None of us will ever go back, which I'm sure will not be an issue for the staff who clearly took issue with our children enjoying themselves and one 2 year old who screamed a few times. His mom did what she could to keep him from doing it, but what do you do? This was not a good pick for a large group with just as many children as adults. Not because of our children, but because of the staff who prefer 1-2 children in a party or maybe children who don't make any noise at all.

  • Nicole G.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, you've all heard that this place isn't as great as Fellini's, blah blah blah. And while there's no such thing as "terrible pizza," I will say some of their selections are sub-par. However, the white pizza is amazing. Just don't order any sort of pasta. It tastes a little bland. Overal = Not crap, but man ... upgrade the ingredients on the pasta by going the Paul Newman way or something.

One of my local go to spots. Always friendly and produce a good pie, the crust is among my favorites. The peach cup and watermelon salad are amazing.

Not a fan. The waiter was like a deer in headlights when we walked in with a 4 year old and an infant (mind you, the restaurant is located next to the zoo). The menu had written in italics claiming they are a family restaurant, but to keep unruly children in check and to remove crying babies from the restaurant. You would have thought this place was a 5 star restaurant...it's actually a dump. Our party of 11 was separated, yet we were still automatically charged 20% tip of which he was not deserving. The food was mediocre at best. I recommend everyone stay away! Your not welcome there...they make that point very clear on their menu and through the waitstaff.

I gave a 2-star review in 2009 because we had one bad experience when they were rude on a very busy night. Since it's a great place and we've been there many times since for great service and great food, they have regained our loyalty and I'm icksnaying that review. The pizza is great--thinner, large floppy slice style. The atmosphere is comfortable and laid back, while the corner location, with large windows facing Cherokee Ave (Grant Park's main street), and decor make it the quintessential neighborhood joint. Don't forget to try the calzones, pastas and daily specials--they never disappoint! One of the best things about GCP is its prices. You can get a small salad for $3 and a small pizza for under $8. They also have a nice selection of draft and bottled beer. The same servers and bartenders are always working, so they seem to care which adds a terrific feel to the place. Glad to be back, and look forward to enjoying Grant Central for years to come!

I have lived in Grant Park since 1998, and have been to this establishment at least once a month (sometimes more). The lasagna specials are my favorite ----don't get it To Go because the cheese melting over the hot dish is half the allure. The salads are good, the Veggie Supreme is my fave pie. It's not fancy, it's a neighborhood joint with casual vibe, but it is always clean, and the service is good. You should seat yourself when you walk in, and the server will be right there. There are also a few small tables outside on the sidewalk. Decent beer list, small bar area. Excellent desserts. Parking lot can be a little difficult when busy (watch out for the big grate at the entrance). Overall, a great place!!!

  • Nina G.

This is fine if you live in the neighborhood and have no other options for pizza. The sauce is way too sweet, the crust is soggy (they haven't quite figured out that a thin crust pizza shouldn't be treated the same way as a deep dish), and the toppings are haphazard. Also, incredibly slow service. My husband and I went to dinner last night and waited way over 30 minutes for a very basic pizza order. The excuse our waiter gave us? "Thanks for your patience, we've had a lot of takeout orders on a Saturday night." I mean, who could have expected that a pizza joint would have takeout orders on a Saturday night????? When I looked at the reviews on Yelp before going, it listed Fuoco di Napoli as a "similar" business. Please. They're not even in the same universe. I'd purposefully go out of my way to go to Fuoco (or Antico); I'll never be back to Grant Central, even if I'm in the neighborhood.

I mean really? When you watch the chef walk out of the kitchen, through the dining room, out the front door- all to go out back to pick fresh herbs just for your pizza...you can't get any better than that!! Sooo freakin' good! The white pizza and HUGE calzones are my favorites!

We opted for a low-key Valentines Day, and my husband was craving a calzone. After cruising through a few reviews, and wanting to stay close to home we decided to give Grant Central Pizza & Pasta a go. I just wasn't overly impressed. The tomato bisque tasted like really delicious marinara sauce. Meaning it was just too heavy for a soup. It may have made a nice spread. My Fettuccine Alfredo wasn't creamy enough & was rather bland. Also, the service just wasn't on key. Our server seemed well intentioned, but the timing (especially between when we finished our meal & when she checked in & when the bill came & when the change was brought) was really off. We were definitely practicing patience tonight. Meh. I've had better.

Grant Central is great. Comfy atmosphere, the food is terrific, and service is very friendly. Their pizza crust is just perfect - thin and crispy but baked enough to hold all the toppings you want. Their pasta alfredo is sublime when sprinkled with fresh basil. Never had a bad meal, always had a great time.

Grant Central Pizza IS a neighborhood place. It exudes it from every aspect of the restaurant... from the tables to the bar to the staff. Corner entrance and Creative Loafing stand. Nobody that I've ever seen there is in a hurry. When I first started going there, I didn't think GCP had sunk a dime into the decor. There were visible dust-agtites hanging from the horrific "paint drip"-style ceiling, the furniture was a smattering of mismatchery and there was just general degredation all about. Now they've sunk some elbowgrease into it and it's looking great. Feels completely unseedy and more cozy. Instead of feeling like you were timetraveling back to late 70s Grant Park, we're talking late 90s now. But that's part of the charm. So, enough about the place. How's the damn pizza? It's good. Toppings are sometimes undercooked, the cheese isn't my favorite I've ever experienced. You're guaranteed a not-to-overwhelming amount of grease. It ain't like they do it in the Olde World Italy.... BUT ... they pull it off. It's local American pizza done well. Comfort food. If you are thinking of ordering Dominos or Papa Johns, order this for pickup instead. It's just better... "real" tasting ingredients made by a person and not by a Cyberdyne Systems. It has soul. Kinda like the soul that employs people who are artists apart from their job there. Zero pretentiousness, especially in the generic pizza boxes. And the best part? The pizza, I think, is even better the next day warmed up...after the toppings have had a chance to meld a bit more into one tasty whole. So, either plan to share a pie or plan to eat the leftovers the next day. And yes, you can order by the slice--I suggest it. Their slices are tasty. I haven't had the pasta in a while or any of their specials, but when I did a few years ago I wasn't disappointed nor blown away. I would be surprised if anything ever budged GPC from that streetcorner. It's good enough to fill a niche, small enough not to try to be too ambitious, and the location is pretty good. I wouldn't while away the hours there (while inviting it isn't exactly "fun"), but people often do, especially outside on the sidewalk tables during the summer with their dogs.

This is my spot for pasta! You can create your own combo of sauce, noodles, meat and what not. I love, love, love the pasta! The breadsticks are good, too- they're not so much breadsticks as they are pizza without sauce that you dip into sauce. Tasty! They have killer lasagna and I know I've had their pizza but it has been a while- I can't go without getting the pasta! I'm not a calzone person but they are as big as my head! I could curl up and snooze in their calzones! I love this place! Really the downfalls are the loud, unruly children who seem to take over periodically. I can't stand a misbehaving child- though I dislike their parents more! They used to switch up the art on the walls but haven't much lately. The servers are great and very eager to correct any mistakes- those things happen! It's a real neighborhood spot. Love it!

Another great pizza place! Good female energy and no man camp from what I could tell. Located in this part of town they call Grant Park, I can actually walk to this spot and the park. In my opinion the seating area can be a bit too close but they make up for it with adorable tables in the window looking out as well as out door seating ;) The afternoon staff was friendly but we were the first table. The bar is cute serving beer and wine which is good for them since I like to drown in cabernet with my pizza, and no driving means more fun for all :) This place is not to be confused with Grant Central Pizza on Glenwood Ave. East Village who is really good, but it's not my neighborhood (meaning I can't walk there) or as pretty. Either way they both have my business, but this place just a bit more.

A solid typical family pizza joint in the heart of Grant Park. I didn't encounter surly attitude from our waitress, but maybe that's because we were there for Dining Out for Life and she was feeling especially charitable. Or maybe she was laughing (inside) about how I managed to choose the smallest booth in the place that forced James to sit rather uncomfortably. I swear that wasn't on purpose. As Erin said, the medium we ordered was bigger than expected, with 8 large slices. So props for that. The white pizza was good and flavorful, but nothing that really blew my hair back. The crust was thin and crispy but almost a little to flour-y for my taste, leaving it a bit dry. The caesar salad was good, for sure, but I rarely meet a caesar I don't like. Yum. Prices were very reasonable, as to be expected for a neighborhood type place, and I liked the casual atmosphere. I'd certainly be a regular if I lived nearby, but as it stands I think I'll stick to my local Fellini's when I'm jonesing for a slice or two.

Today was our first experience at this restaurant, but we will be back. The service was good and the food was delicious. It's hard to find a place that satisfies every member of my family of 6, but Grant Central did so and for a very reasonable price.

I love Grant Central. I'm probably biased because its close to my house, but I've eaten here a million times and never get tired of it. Though the slices are good, I really prefer getting the whole pie--just fresher. Fantastic service too. They always seem very understaffed, but everyone is friendly and provides excellent service regardless.

This is my main spot for pizza. And, judging by the fact that I love me some pizza, I come here at least once a month. They do take out as well as eat-in, and are located in beautiful Grant Park close to the zoo and Dakota Blue. I always get the Deluxe Veggie pizza which is full of great toppings including fried eggplant, sun-dried tomatoes, and artichoke hearts. It is around $20 for a large, which is priced more moderately than, say, Mellow Mushroom. They also have very good salads which include feta, onions, mixed greens, etc. However, it is only a starting dish because it would be near impossible for me to order just a salad at a pizza parlor. They have a full bar and nice people working there, and it is just a warm environment that you are sure to find in all of Grant Park. Furthermore, there is another larger location in one of my other favorite neighborhoods- East Atlanta Village. Though the one in EAV is larger, I prefer this location. So, to conclude, if you like pizza (and who doesn't?!?), you should check out Grant Park Pizza. PIZZA-PIZZA!!!

Maybe 3.5 stars. I was totally right about splitting a pie, too. James H & Kathleen M met me for dinner here last night for the Open Hand dine-out. We had the best waitress they have! She's quiet and shy but I know that secretly she's a rockstar. ;) Really good medium? white pizza, side note: this white pizza has no onions like I'm used to up North. Is that a Southern thing to not put onions on it or is it just Grant Central? I know we asked for a medium, but it came out as 8 slices instead of 6 so I'm really wondering about what size we got. Kathleen? I also had the small salad with creamy Italian... good, just not as good as Fellini's. Kathleen and James both had a caesar and ate every last bit so I'm guessing it was good. As I said before, definitely a place to try. *Ever notice that there are a million and one spellings for caesar?

The white pizza is perfect! I like to add kalamata olives and artichoke hearts. They have started pitting their olives. Definitely a holy grail kind of pizza experience for me. :)

The pizza is actually pretty good. The location is just beautiful, located in historic Grant Park. However, the service is just about the worst I've experienced since I've been back in the ATL. We walked in, no one acknowledged us. We didn't really know what to do. And when we asked, we were scorned by the two servers. What a weird feeling it was to watch the two servers be all pissed off on such a beautiful Saturday afternoon. I don't think I'll ever go back after that... shma- Maybe next year...

What can I say, great people and great food. Te service is pretty fast and the atmosphere is laid back and enjoyable. This is your typical neighborhood restaurant-- they will remember you if you go back which is nice. I haven't tried any of the Italian entrees, only pizza. House salad and garlic bread are also fantastic.

Thanks to Grant Central! Looks like there is hope for Atlanta yet. The pizza is very consistently wonderful, the atmosphere is consistently calming, and the prices are so reasonable!!! Thank you Grant Central. P.S. The crust and sauce are both vegan!

While this is clearly not a 4-star restaurant, the service and value is. If you want good food (not necessarily good for you!) then Grant Central is awesome. We order pizzas from here frequently and we've never been disappointed. It has a very homemade quality to it. The pizzas are highly recommended, but I've had a few other things that I also suggest: 1. Calzones. They are huge and yummy. 2. Both their meat and veggie lasagnas are terrific and honestly taste like they were made by your Italian grandmother - not that your Italian grandmother would ever dream of making a veggie lasagna. 3. Salad! I love salad, but I never buy them at restaurants. Why would you when there's pizza and calzones. Sheesh! Well, here's your answer - Grant Central's homemade balsamic vinaigrette. I can't describe it, so you have to go try it. Trust me on that one! It's not expensive either. A couple of people could eat here for $25-30 with a couple of drinks. Anyway, I've lived in Grant Park for 8 years now, and I wouldn't dream of getting a pizza from another place. Good food, great prices, and friendly staff who are just regular people and are not trying to impress you. The food does enough of that!

The pizza was good. I wouldn't say its the best in Atlanta but it was definitely tasty. I like the area its located in. I think its called cabbagetown. Its a quaint little area with a bunch of little shops and eateries.

Total letdown Saturday night. I've eaten here once before and it was good, so after a bike ride from the Dogwood Festival Saturday our group was worn out and hungry, and didn't feel like cooking. Sadly there's no delivery anywhere on Milton Avenue, but there's a few places you can run and pick up, we settled on pizza, but then after viewing the menu we all wanted pasta instead. No matter, they have it, prices are fair, let's go. My friend called the order in, the guy on the phone was loud enough that I heard him repeat the entire order, and it was correct at that point. Cool. Waited 20 minutes, drove over to get it. If you've never been, a Saturday night is a damn busy night here. Parking is street only and limited, I lucked out and got a spot that had just opened up. Walking in it looks like an old church, the doorway is on the corner of the building, in front of steps, you walk in to a large room with tables and booths. There's a bar in the next room, where you pick up to go orders too. Decent beer selection, but we had a ton at home so we just got food (obviously). Guy brought it out quick, went over the order aloud, and I looked at the bill to verify too. Yes, I should have looked at all the food, but I was rushed, so I paid and took off. Bad mistake. Our order of breadsticks didn't make it home. Strike one. The pastas, all three, were as ordered, but scarce on the sauce. Like, there was enough to add color to the pasta, but maybe a total of an ounce per entree. If the pasta had been dry there wouldn't have been enough sauce to even moisten it. It was really that bad. Strike two. We wolfed it down anyway, knowing a call to complain would be a waste of time, as well as a trip back to try and get the order right. Sucks, because the pasta really needed sauce to round it out, and breadsticks would have been nice to sop up the sauce had we got it. Oh well. I'll remember this experience next time and try Dakota Blue instead.

Okay, maybe hunger and a thirst for novelty can skew my judgment. Maybe. However, on Saturday, after a morning being a good son, father, and husband, I went to the EABF - except it was sold out, dammit! So, I hit the Graveyard avec frau and eldest child. We went to a lot of places that day. After drinking a while at the Graveyard, and unshackled by my usual decorum in not eating evil wheat bearing substances out of love and sympathy for my little mutants, I saw Grant Central, smelled the pizza, and would have jammed my face in a pizza if said pizza were available and not boiling hot (as it would have scalded my face and left ugly scar tissue). It was delicious. Extra cheese, pepperoni, bubbling cheese. I don't usually eat pizza anyway, as I am also watching my girlish figure, but damn this was sure worth it.

when I'm jones'n for pizza and a great salad this is one place I love to go. Within walking distance to most people in Grant Park between Boulevard and Hill St. this is one of my other favorites. I love to go and customize a pizza, and bring friends who can build there own as well. I love mine with fresh tomatoes, onions, peperoni and mushrooms. My sister in-law and husband love theres with sausage and spicy potatoes (weird...but it is offered). ***** 5 Stars on the Salads **** 4 Stars on the Pizza, because it's so hard to compare *** 3 Stars on the parking if your not in the neighborhood. Not really there fault. Another unique perk is the daily special which often is not even Italian. I've seen meatloaf, fish, and I even thing steak one night. Deserts are great and the atmosphere is family friendly. Sometimes too much.... because often parents let there kids roam the place.... That's why I set it on 4.

Great place for the locals in Grant Park. Well worth the stop if you are ever in the area (the zoo is just down the street). The calzones are amazing and it is rarely crowded.

Always a great place with good service. They've been around for a long time in Grant Park and have maintained the overall tradition of good simple pizza and Italian food. I live in Grant Park and am always willing to order from these guys when other places are looking bleak.

David and I wanted to help and dine at one of the Tornado Relief Restaurants this past Monday. A portion of our money would go to the neighborhoods that experienced the tornado plus its just an easy way to donate for a great cause. I had a craving for pizza and was relieved to see that Grant Central Pizza was one of the restaurants listed on participating. It's been awhile since we have been here. This is a pretty good place to get a pizza, although not my favorite. Whenever we get pizza we usually get our usual...pepperoni, sausage, green pepper, and mushrooms. What I like about Grant Central is that their sausage is the best! It reminds me a bit of the North when you get sausage on your pizza, you get thick slices of the stuff! The ceaser salad was OK as well, nothing to hype about. I think their stand outs are the pasta, but I always seem to forget they offer that! Good neighborhood place that is usually never crowded. Great if you are super hungry and don't want to wait or want some peace and relaxation.

Having lived in Grant Park for 3 years beginning in 2007, I have frequented Grant Central on a number of occasions. Since the words "pizza and pasta" are in the business name, it's only fair that a review should center around these menu items. I've had many different types of pizza from Grant Central, both eaten in the restaurant and taken to-go. As far as the quality of the pizza, it's typical of small joints in the Northeast. The crust is thin, slightly crisp, and with a good amount of bite to it. I have, on occasion received a pie from GC that was too moist, where the bottom is soggy and requires a knife and fork to eat. Chalk that up to either new employees, too many toppings (their Deluxe Veggie is always a bit wet), or too much time spent in the to-go box. Overall, the pizza is decent, priced accordingly for the area, and never takes more than 20 minutes no matter how busy the place seems on the inside. It's not too greasy, not swimming in cheese, and the sauce is a compliment to, and not a distraction from the whole. As for the pasta, I do remember ordering fettuccine alfredo at some point, but the specifics of my experience have long since faded from memory. I suppose that means it was acceptable, if not exceptional. Also, if you're ordering pasta to-go, you can only expect so much. I think pasta should be enjoyed immediately after coming out of the colander, but that's just me. In any case, Grant Central would not be my first option when considering where to go for great Italian pasta dishes (if you've never been to Alfredo's on Cheshire Bridge Rd, then I recommend you do so right after reading this review). As far as decor, the inside of GC is nothing to write home about. There has been some attempt to paint the place in a New York kinda way, with fake windows, stone, etc. I'm not one for painted on accents, but this is a pizza joint and not a fine dining establishment, so I'll keep my criticism of the walls to that. The place is kept pretty clean, with the booths wiped down each time I've dined in. Regardless, this isn't a place you'd go to for the atmosphere of the restaurant. It's certainly acceptable, but not the appeal. I've read some reviews on here that speak of the rather aloof attitude of the staff, and I can say that's more than likely a case of people expecting to be waited on hand-and-foot by the servers. Yes, there's a lack of explanation as to how you should be seated, but I've never sat down for more than a minute without a server coming over to the table. However, this is not TGI Fridays, so the staff will not put on the smiley face for you. If you want that kind of overly friendly attitude, Grant Central is not going to satisfy your craving for ear-to-ear smiles. In my experience, they've never been rude or inattentive, which suits me fine. When ordering to-go from the bar, the server has always asked me if I'd like a beer or beverage while I wait, which is enough of the extra mile for me. If you're in Grant Park, this is a great place to grab a quick bite or to take home some pizza after work. If you're looking for authentic Italian-style pie servered by smiling teens with name tags affixed to brightly colored clothing, you might want to consider somewhere else.

My favorite pizza place to dine-in. Great atmosphere for families, or even for dates. It makes you feel like you're in a small town and the lighting is perfect - not too bright, etc. We come here a lot on Saturday afternoons or Sunday nights, so I am not the best to comment on the service since I'm never in a hurry. Hi-lites - BEST Salad. Waaay better than Fellinis b/c you can get real lettuce, not iceberg, and great dressings. BREADSTICKS. mm. And I always eat a slice or two of pizza. mm mm.

I agree a great little pizza place, ranks up with the best I've had in Atlanta. The calzones are the BEST and salads rival to any in town.... Always good service and close to the Braves, Zoo, and Grant park. Give it a try. K

This is our local "go-to" pizza place. At least once a week - we call in our usual order - a large pizza with pepperoni, spinach, and ricotta cheese. 15 minutes - then we drive 1 mile and pick up our pizza - SO easy! It's been good 95% of the time - once in awhile they have an off night - but seriously not often. If we want to get out of the house - we'll go up and dine in. Their salads are covered in goodness and the service has always been great. I know they have beer & wine at pretty reasonable prices but I don't think they have a full bar - I could be wrong though. They finally re-did their little parking lot - but it's never very busy around there so it's easy to do street parking. On nice days - they set up 1-2 little tables outside for those of us that want to walk up and sit with dogs outside too! Definitely a Grant Park staple!

From pizza, to grilled chicken salad, to pasta bowls, to lasagna, they nail it! However, the Calzones.........MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM GOOD! Great place to pick up dinner, or a pizza before the game, or just to go and dine in. This place is 2 blocks from the house, I only wish I could go in my bathrobe. Wait a second....maybe I can.

Grant Central is probably one of my favorite finds in grant park! Matt is super awesome as well as the rest of the staff. Every one seems to have a smile on their face most of the time. The food is great and they have a great selection to choose from for beer and wine. They always have a super tasty special and dangerously good deserts. If you go and get a slice of cheese cake ask for a glass of unicorn tears youll be glad you did!. ;)

For those of you that give former NY'ers slack for being pizza snobs do me one favor. DO NOT go have pizza at Penn Station in NY and then tell me you don't know what all the fuss is about. Go have a "Grandma" slice @ any pizzeria in Long Island or a brick oven slice in Howard Beach of the Belt Parkway. On to the review. No its not NY Pizza but I am a fan and must say that I will eat this over Fellinis on most days. The prices are great and I like the area as well...tucked away in Grant Park. Yummy.

I just liked the feel of Grant Central, just kinda warm and cozy. I could have just curled into a booth with a glass of wine and a good book. I did not have the pizza, but I will next time. I had the blackened chicken salad and it was just ok. I also had the ravioli and it was ok also. But they had a lemon cake that made me smile:) It was yummy but the slice was a little thin. Not so stingy with the cake next time Grant Central!!

I've brought both friends and family here and they love it. It's great for just about any kind of crowd you're trying to share a meal with. The food is consistenly delicious and the menu is varied enough that everyone will find something they want, whether it be pizza, calzones, salads, etc. They have tons of pizza toppings to choose from and the staff is helpful in telling you what's good together if you want to be adventurous ("Um, what goes well with broccoli on a pizza?"). They also serve a basic selection of wine and beer, if you like some with your pizza. This is a solid place to get a slice!

It absolutely breaks my heart to write a bad review for such a cool local place, but I have to. While the baked pastas and specials can be really great, I've been disappointed in recent years by the pizza. For a place that used to serve some of the best pies in town, I have to ask who fell asleep at the wheel? Now the crusts are SOGGY! Why? Maybe you could bake the pizza just a few minutes longer or reexamine your crust recipe! Try a little more oregano! The ambiance is so amazingly great. The pizza simply doesn't live up to the promise of the neighborhood and the rest of the dining experience. The service is good and friendly...please give us back the great neighborhood pizza place that you used to be!

  • Carlos C.

The pizza is dependably good and in the not too thick, not too thin style of fellini's/johnny's etc... The calzones are also very tasty and large enough to choke a Saint Bernard. The service is generally adequate but nothing special (but a step above the other too-cool-to-really-wait-on-you tatooed hipsters in the area). As I normally take out, not really an issue for me anyway. Have never been to the EAV location, but have heard from several sources that the Cherokee location has the better pizza. If you are not in the mood for pizza, there are always daily pasta options available as well. I would strongly suggest a meatball friendly pasta as the meatballs here are, in my opinion, excellent.

This a great little pizza joint in Grant Park. There is only 1 server there during the day but the food arrived in reasonable amount of time. The service was great and the pizza was very good. I Always leave a 20% tip here

When I moved to Grant Park 10 years ago, I wasn't particularly impressed with the food here, but it wasn't bad and fairly cheap. Now, 10 years later, this place is now a regular part of our lives. The food is always consistent and the atmosphere cozy and comfy as a neighborhood pizza place could possibly be. I enjoy meeting my friends & neighbors here for a few glasses of wine or beer and looking forward to nightly specials. I'm recently on a calzone phase and like another reviewer said, it's nice to have a variety of quality toppings tha you can add to pizza, calzones, pastas or salads. The waitstaff is always friendly and hip, to boot. If ever I move away, I will miss Grant Central probably more than any other place in Atlanta.

  • Shannon H.

I love the ability to choose not only toppings on pizza, but also what goes on whatever pasta you love. For me it's angel hair with pesto, chicken, mozzarella, mushrooms, and spinach. Yum, yum, yum.

  • Dickie P.

I had a great experience. The place is dripping in cool and it's local which is a bonus. The great wait staff constantly checked up on me to make sure I had everything I needed. The slices I had were great with a nice crust and plenty o' mozarella. Overally, I really couldn't ask for much more from a local pizza place. Definitely give it a second chance if you've been disappointed in the past.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
