Cool spot. Lot of drunk white guys.

Try this place for the first time on the fourth. Your typical friendly neighborhood bar. Opens at 5pm on the July 4th. We had the Philly cheesesteak with bacon. It was quite good, it was loaded up with steak, big pieces of mushrooms, and onions. We also had the Irish fries and fried mac and cheese balls as appetizers. Both delicious and not healthy My friend had the bbq chicken sandwich and he devoured it without letting me take a bite. I'm guessing it was good. It has a good beer and liquor selection. Plenty of TVs for sports. Best part, dollar pool table and free darts.

I'm giving them 2 stars because the service was great and I really liked the waitresses. They were out of two appetizers we tried to order, the potato skins and Reuben rolls. We finally ordered the queso which was terrible... And the chips were really old. However, the pita chips we were charged extra for were fried and pretty tasty. We had fish and chips for dinner which was forgettable. Fries were soggy. Drinks were too expensive, watered down mess. Has a lot of potential but I wasn't impressed at all

I've been here twice, and both times have been extremely underwhelming. I've been here for both drinks and food. The bar menu is fine, no better or worse than comparable bars in the area. The front half is chairs/tables/booths with TVs, and the back half is pool tables. It feels sketchy just walking in the front door. The food is terrible - do not go here for a meal. Everything I and my friends has had is either overly salty, overcooked, or completely bland. I especially do NOT recommend the wings - super dry and overcooked. This pub is in a big strip mall / shopping center, so there is plenty of free parking in the lot. Also note that this bar still allows smoking inside, so it always smells terrible.

Do not come here for NFL games on Sunday if you plan on getting even decently fast service. Got told in second quarter couldn't order food due to kitchen being backed up by waitress. I'll be going elsewhere moving forward.

Absolutely terrible service. My husband and I went in to watch football on Sunday afternoon. They were clearly understaffed both front and back of house. We sat at our table for the duration of a WHOLE ENTIRE FOOTBALL GAME without ever having a server stop and take a food or drink order. We kept going to the bar to get our drinks. (The prompt service of the bartender is the ONLY reason this place is getting two stars.) we flagged down a random server and asked if we could order food and she shrugged it off and said no. (I'm really not kidding...) So we went to the front bar and ordered. Took about 50 minutes to get boneless wings. Bar sales (and customer satisfaction & return rate) definitely would have been higher if the servers worked smarter and the bar was fully staffed...

This goes out to anyone wanting to watch Football - don't! The TVs are "majority rules" so basically you just need to work the room before kickoff. The people working don't know which games are on, or how to work the sound, the servers were so overwhelmed I wondered if they even knew that it was the season opener. I saw multiple tables walk out before the game started because they couldn't figure out where they'd be able to watch their game - definition mess. We left at halftime during the 1pm game because it was just too distracting. Wont be back during football season, at least not when there are that many games for them to have to navigate.

I don't like giving a one star review. And I rarely do it, but last night warranted one. I went to the Famous Pub to meet up with some Haunt Actors who were celebrating something special. They were at the bar and when my friend and I showed up, we asked about the menu... The waitress hemmed and hawed (Mind you it was about 8:30) she didn't seem the least bit interested in serving us at all. The tender gave us sodas, so that was fine, But nope the waitress didn't want to give -ANY- sort of service, Period. I'm sorry if we were inconviencing her for doing her job..

I had not been here in years, but recently visited last weekend. It is exactly the same, almost. I did not know there was a "club" dance floor in the rear. They have themed nights. This particular night was 80's Night. There were a handful of people dancing but most were at the bar getting sauced. There is a $5 cover to enter the club area. If you just want to visit the pub there is no cover. Various seating is throughout with the larger flat-screens in the front and the bar is to the left. Several pool tables sit in the middle of the pub. That is why I was there. Pool and wings. The wings are good, however, I ordered Lemon Pepper and got a spicy hot wing with a couple of black peppers on them. Just add ranch and its okay. The ranch is better than the blue cheese here by the way.The potato skins are pretty decent. They could be a little more crispy and include more bacon but they were not bad. My party of 5 arrived around 1130pm and it started getting crowded after midnight. I did notice a trend of several people, ladies in particular, wearing all black looking Gothic. Most of them were going to the club area though. Maybe there was some type of costume contest I am not sure. I enjoyed my games of pool, I was 1-3, but I was just warming up. I do need to practice more though. If you need a cool place to enjoy with friends over beer, wings, games while shooting pool this is a good spot. FYI: You can smoke in here. Smh. I need that to quickly be outlawed in GA.

The last time I visited Famous Pub was 1998. Back then, my friends and I would dump whole rolls of quarters into the Gauntlet II arcade game (or the occasional pool table). Now, the place is changed in appearance, shedding it's late 80's dive-vibe for the appearance of a comfortable sports-bar. There are lots of screens around to watch whatever floats your boat. The pool tables remain. Gauntlet II is gone, but they have a South Park pinball machine, and that is an okay substitute. We visited during a lunchtime a day or two before NYE, and I was actually not disappointed to see the place so empty. (So my friends and I could raucously laugh to our hearts' content.) Reagan took really good care of us. She pours a mean beer, and her recommendations were spot on. Our table shared some medium-hot wings as an appetizer. The burn was good, and it did not blow my head off. (Next time I'm pumping them up to nuclear, just to see what happens). The fish & chips are a clear crowd-pleaser. The burger also looks good, as does the "Chicken By The Bay" sandwich. I promise not to wait another sixteen years before I visit Famous again. Holler if you're coming with.

I stopped by this place on a business trip to the Atlanta area. This place has very large tv screens for your favorite sports game. There are several smaller TV screens throughout the pub. There is good outdoor seating. The service is good. I had one of their burgers - mushroom, onions, and a side of sweet potato fries. I forget what it is called but it is the only mushroom burger on the menu. Cooked to perfection but could be more juicy. This is good food for a pub. The place is clean.

Fun place to go and watch some football. Especially outside on the patio. It is extremely busy ...my gf @ the time was not really into football, but even she had a good time here.

Went to Famous Pub tonight with my fiancé. I ordered the cheese steak, which was pretty light on the steak. Not horrible, but not worth the money either. She ordered the grilled chicken quesadilla without noticing there was a two dollar up charge for the chicken. So it ended up being a $10 quesadilla that was about on par with Taco Bell. We saw a lot of reviews complaining about the service, but it was pretty standard while we were there. Again, not bad but not great. I've been to worse places, but there are so many better options in the area I would be reluctant to go back. I sort of expect to see this place on Bar Rescue one day. A lot of potential in a good location, but it just misses on the execution.

The alcohol and space is awesome. Food, not so much. Had the chicken nachos and they tasted absolutely worthless. Disgusting. Order food at your own risk folks. Two stars for the decor and drinks. Semi friendly staff.

Famous has a decent set up for a sports bar and is a good place to watch a game. It also has a back bar with karaoke options 1 night a week. Besides that, its nothing special. The beers on tap are average. There is food and it is edible. The wings and burgers are decent. The service is actually pretty good for a local sports bar. Its open very late on the weekends and does attract a nearby college crowd. Its pretty large and there is plenty of parking. I just would not go out of my way to go there.

I've been going here for a while to watch sports and play pool. The vibe is always super chill and I tend to have an okay time. But BOTH times I have eaten there, I've gotten sick. The first time I thought, ok maybe it was a fluke occurance, maybe my chicken wasn't cooked all the way through. I should NOT have given them a second chance... vomiting, diarrhea, the worst ever. I'm starting to think they don't change out the grease often enough. If you go, drinks and entertainment only. DON'T EAT THE FOOD. My friend also woke up the next morning sick as hell and vomiting his life away. It isn't worth the risk... they need help, the location is great but they need some major updating and cleaning.

Came here to watch a game and they were very accomodating to turn it on for us and provided some good service. Wings were average but the tenders were real good. They have a pretty good craft beer list which i appreciate from a divey place like this. Dart boards and Thursday night karaoke will definitely bring be back for a return visit. Smoking being allowed at all sucks but it is nice that at least its only after 9pm so you can bring kids if you go earlier in the day.

I came here for a storytelling event, which occurs on the second Tuesday of every month. While I did not spend much time in the main sports bar section (the storytelling was in a room in the back), the food and service there were great. The storytelling event had a nice atmosphere for what it was. You wouldn't even realize you were next to a sports bar. The stories were pretty entertaining, and the crowd was supportive of everyone. If you're looking for something off the beaten path, this is worth a look.

Nope- This is not the place for me. We have been twice, once it was EMPTY and the service was slow, the wait staff was either in a bad mood or they hated us for some strange reason. The other time we went it was for a big football game and it was packed. They have a ton of screens- and that is the only reason they get one star at all. We had to sit outside in the smoking section, and that was unpleasant- but the worst thing was they didn't come out to check on us for more than 30 minutes each time. The only common thing between the full house and empty house was the terrible service.

    (1)
  • John M.

This place is awesome! Great atmosphere and great people. The food is to die for, especially the wings. I do wish they would do without the smoking inside the bar since they have a patio which can be heated when its cold. The Bartenders are amazing and the waitresses are always willing to go that extra mile.

The food and service leaves a lot to be desired. I love wings. The wings are good. The sauces are WEAK!!

Recently moved to the area so was looking for a place to go out. Went in on a Thursday night, and it was dead. Had decent pool tables and other video games, but crowd was older and didn't seem like a place I'd want to go back. Could be a place to watch a game with a group of people, as there are a lot of televisions.

    (3)
  • J D.

The best thing this place has going for it is that they don't have a lot of sports bar competition in the area. Food is decent and they have a lot of tv but there are better places to watch games, eat wings, drink beer etc

    (3)
  • J C.

It's alright! Nothing special....too damn expensive!! Maybe a place to go to when everything else is closed....

  • Preston S.

This place has so much potential that it actually pains me to give it one star. However, despite all of the potential, this place consistently has the absolute WORST service I've ever experienced in Atlanta. In fact, this is the only place in Atlanta that I've ever left because of the service. Please do yourself a favor and do NOT eat here!!!

    (1)
  • Michelle D.

It's a bar, nothing more, nothing less. The food is decent, the drinks ice cold, the service average. At lunch the place is almost empty, so food is quick and hot, and pretty inexpensive. Sandwiches are good, appetizers decent...take it for what it is and you'll be content.

  • Ashleigh P.

The management is making an effort, they are listening to customers and reviews now, and they have updated their menu to a bit more than just bar food and that makes me happy. Their beer selection is getting better, and most of their staff is proficient If they would just have some employee stability it would be a lot better here. That's my update.

    (3)
  • Cliff B.

We got water, then were ignored for 15 minutes by the waitstaff. We complained to the manager, moved to the back, and were ignored for 15 more minutes. No one said, "Hey, we're busy, it'll take us a while." We would have been okay with that. The interaction started normally and then was dropped. Customer service is the basic function of a bar/restaurant. They were unable to meet this minimal expectation, despite being notified of the deficiency. That's the part that I can't believe. I get that everyone (and every business) has an off night. That's why I notified them and gave them a chance to rectify the situation. Oh well.

This is a great place to watch sports with friends! There are two huge projector screens on one wall, and many TVs around the whole bar. They have good wings, and many beers on tap. Their burgers are pretty good as well. Additionally, there are coin-operated pool tables (very cheap compared to other bars). However, they are not regulation size, if you are particular about billiards.

    (4)
  • E. B.

This place is horrible - especially the management. Go spend your time and money somewhere that you're appreciated as a person, and not treated like complete garbage.

  • Vonda D.

Your typical hole in the wall bar. Its clean, the staff is friendly, the food is average.. The only complaint that I have is that service was a little slow. Oh and from where I was sitting there was a huge beam in the way of the other tv. That's annoying when you're trying to watch two games.

Famous pub is a cool place if you want to catch up with friends or sit back and relax with a beer and some pool! Food was pleasantly good! I shared a buffalo Cobb salad and hot lemon pepper wings with a friend and they were very delicious. Customer service was great, our server was Vanessa and she was very attentive and friendly. Some reviews below talk about poor service but it seems they have hired a new staff which seemed good all around! I will be a returning customer

The only reason to come here is the high caliber people watching. Fun for the whole family! Is that a dwarf with an eye patch? Is that a Cee Lo Green's brother? Why is that guy wearing one shoe? All questions you can hopefully ask yourself while having a few beers at Famous Pub.

Food: Typical bar food and they try to offer other things but they are horribly cooked, I guess they are hoping people are drunk when they order the food so they will not know how horrible it is. I had a lunch date there and I went the safe route and ordered chicken fingers with curly fries, they were standard, nothing special about it. My date ordered the 'ribs' (I wouldn't have called them that), they were very fatty and overcooked, tasted horrible. She sent them back after losing her apetite, but here's the kicker...wait for it... After sending the ribs back (keep in mind she had take a few bites) I overheard the bartender tell our waitress that someone in the back ate them and found nothing wrong with them and that they were going to just charge the ribs to them! Our waitress looked at me with a look like OMG I can't believe you heard that. Needless to say I will never go back to this filthy, disgusting place again. Atmosphere: Dark, nasty, dingy, smoked has filled every crack and crevice of this place. Restrooms look like those restrooms at the night clubs where people have urinated all over the place and the fixtures are falling apart. Completely unappealing. Service: Service was fair. The waitress ( a skinny black girl, very friendly and nice) was good, but when we complained about the ribs she said the owner was going to come over and talk with us, he/she never showed despite the fact that she said he was sitting only about 25 yards away at the bar. The cook came out and offered to make something else for my date, but she had lost her appetite. I could tell the cook was very unhappy with our critical assessment of the ribs, but he wasn't rude in any way. He did tell us that the ribs are not cooked at the restaurant and they are ordered from Sysco, pre-cooked (really?!) Disgusting. Kudos to the waitress and the cook, but I have absolutely no respect for an owner that doesn't come over and talk with it's patrons after telling the waitress he/she will. Summary: Disgusting food and a nasty/filthy atmosphere prevents me from ever going to the 'famous' pub.

I was kind of surprised at the reviews of Famous Pub. I thought it was great! Very fun atmosphere, your typical sports bar with tons of tv's, great crowd, pool tables, yummy food, & tons of great beer! Open late, you can smoke in the back after a certain time, I believe (not sure about the front), which didn't matter to me but certainly did to my boyfriend :) We will definitely go back for a fun, hanging out, low key kinda night.

"Fame is proof that the people are gullible." Ralph Waldo Emerson I am not sure what makes Famous famous, but I will say that is A-OK! A sports bar that borders on dive bar depending on when you walk in, Famous is a big bar with plenty of room. They have a nice outside patio which is perfect for just hanging outside on a nice Atlanta night. My service experience has gone from good to poor, but good is the usual. OK, I may be gullible, but I will be back.

I have been in this place two times. Each visit we had a rude waitress named "Halimah." This woman screwed up our order on both visits (and also ignored us both times until another waitress came over and started helping us). The first trip, I gave her the benefit of the doubt and left her a nice tip despite her attitude and botching the order (40%). I mean, hey, we all have off days. This last round, she brought us a wrong order along with an appetizer of cold nachos (it was like the food came from the refrigerator). The place was not even busy! When I complained and said I wanted the check, another kind waitress named Joy apologized, while this woman walked up, slammed our next ordered drink down on the table, and stormed off. LOL! I was stupefied. If the kitchen is the problem, then it needs to be fixed. Notwithstanding, this woman should find a new job if waiting tables isn't her thing. I don't need to deal with rude waitstaff when I am paying for a meal. In short, I am not going back. So much for a local place where we can grab a bite and a beer at 11PM on a Friday night. It's pitiful when Chili's is the better option. LOL! Peace.

WORST PLACE EVER!! My husband and I came in during lunch for a quick bite before the snow started. We were "greeted" by a horribly rude waitress who clearly didn't want to be at work. I ordered the Fried Mac & Cheese which after about 10 minutes she came back to "inform" me that they didn't have it but did it while walking by the table. I ended up ordering something else to eat, mediocre at best sliders. My husbands meal came out before mine. He had ordered a side of ranch when he ordered his sandwich and when it came out with no ranch and no ketchup for the fries we asked her for some and all we got was a big sigh like it was such an inconvenience for her. I've not fun across such horrible costumer service in a long time. The atmosphere is gross, the waiters are rude and the food is mediocre. Why would I ever come back?? Do yourself a favor and find anywhere else in the area to eat!! You'll thank me :-)

Staff was completely rude and might have been from the early 90's. Dated bar and staff.

  • Damien B.

Uh you really complained because someone at a bar/resturant smokes weed while they work. You sir must have never worked in the bar industry. The guys making your food and drinks are impair most of the time. It is just part of the real world out there. Drugs are bad. Famous Pub has always been a bit of a dive. Food is decent, drinks are cold and you have fun. I have coming there since 1999. I am old as hell now so the vibe is different but the place is still a good spot to visit. The thing I am most impressed with is the fact that it looks like the owner or management takes the time to address bad reviews and give you a chance to complain to them directly. I have had bad service there on occasion but I also had some of the great service there as a regular for poker night.

    (4)
  • Jim S.

This place is becoming more and more of a regular go-to for me. I rarely think of it as a first choice, yet when I can't get into my other regular places, I typically end up here. And I don't know why I just don't come here first. The food is decent. Pub fare. Beer options are plenty. Prices are fair. And service always surprises me. I think it's gonna be your typical pub kid taking thier time and being non-attentive. But I ALWAYS seem to hit the best service. Last night, I think the guys name was Ben. Great personality, great attentiveness, non-rushed, and perfect service. Cheers!

I've lived and worked less than a mile from Famous for almost a year now, and just had my first visit there last week. Inconceivable! I feel like I've been missing out on my neighborhood joint. The totally-chill patio, low-key atmosphere, and reasonable prices all make this a place I should be spending more time. Add in the fact that it's in the same shopping center my preferred grocery store is, and it's a no-brainer. A place where I could have a few drinks then sober up while I do my shopping? That's a winner. Service was attentive but not obnoxious, although we waited awhile to order nibbles during our happy hour stop. The buffalo tots we ordered hit the spot, and there were several other menu items that looked tempting, as well. I will definitely be back to find out exactly what makes this place Famous, and maybe even to shoot a game of pool.

    (4)
  • Craig K.

Pretty standard bar food selection and drinks. I always find myself here with a bunch of classmates after an exam and it's probably the location that draws me back here every time. There seems to be a high rate of wait staff turnover. The only issue I've ever had was a waitress rang up another bill using my card. I suspected something when she returned to the table and went back inside with my card. When confronted she denied it, but I had looked up bank transactions on my phone and saw there was a debit in an odd amount. She claimed to have refunded it but could not provide a receipt. Long story short, the charge reversal never occurred.

  • Carrie Neal W.

One of my favorite things about Famous is that the vibe is anything *but* - that is, it's totally chillaxin' . . . a place to go when you want to be under the radar. Have a beer (or ten if it's that kinda day or night), maybe play some pool or video games, maybe just chat with the super-friendly staff. Yeah, it's one of those places. Bar food, typical but tasty (I like the chicken fingers best, being a creature of habit prone to ordering such whenever they're on the menu). Spacious bar plus lots of seating throughout, right-o. Dim lights good for canoodling, check. My fave Blue Moon on draft, yep. Clean bathrooms, yep again. And, it's super close to home for me. What's not to love??

  • T T.

Very disappointing night at famous pub. Health inspection score was a 71. The owner was extremely rude to our party. Because of the rudeness, we decided to leave and asked for our bill. The owner tried to charge us for the items we had not yet received. She proceeded to argue with other staff about trying to make us pay for items we did not receive in front of the whole restaurant. .....Very unprofessional and clearly not interested in customer service.

    (1)
  • James H.

Hey, we have a WINNER! Worst service possible - anywhere, any time. And by using the actual word "service", understand that would imply that there was any service. There was not. We had a large group and had reserved the club room. Everyone there had been charged $16 RSVP weeks in advance. The manager knew exactly how many people to plan for. We sat down at 8:30. The wait staff pretended we were invisible until 9:40. A waitress finally came by and pretended to make mental note of our order and then never came back. We waited another 45 minutes... She must have gone home because the waitress never reappeared so we just walked out at 10:25. So in 115 minutes they couldn't be bothered to bring so much as a cocktail napkin to our table, much less any actual food or drink. Strangely, the front part of the restaurant was empty. With management oversight like this, I would be cautious of this place. If their sanitation practices are as poorly managed as everything else we observed, you could get yourself in a world of hurt eating there.

  • Melanie P.

This place is ridiculous. They hired a bunch of drama queens that rather deal with drama outside then dealing with customers inside and when a ghetto fight broke out they thought it was best to yell at innocent customers and cuss at them to get the f*ck out! rather than handle it it in a professional manner. Will not return to this screwed up place until the owners hire profession waitresses.

I live in this neighborhood but it was my first visit... during March madness. When I first came in, I was like "WHAT? This is a guys' place". Good for watching games. They have TV and projectors everywhere. I had chicken pita sandwich with Cajun fries. It was huge, and delicious! A guy said it could feed 2 people. I finished it finally :)

Not bad. Nothing to put it over the top but I could definitely come back here. It's worth a visit. We went on a random Friday night and were quite disappointed in the small crowd...simply because this place is huge! It was rainy but damn. Make me wonder if this is normal or just an odd Friday. Anyway, this place is long...even without the pool hall in the back this place is pretty big. Lot's of TV's and games to keep you occupied. We had wings and sandwiches. Everyone enjoyed their food for the most part. Wings were a shade on the small side but had lots of flavor. Sandwiches were nice sized and were swallowed up by my fellow drinkers, Yomp! I want to try more of this menu. Good selection of beer!! We sipped on some 60 Minute IPA's. They turned out to be a little pricey but oh well, that stuff is good. Great service from the girl working the bar. She was attentive and kept our water full and made sure we had plenty of drinks. I want to see this place when it's hopping.

Ok so Famous has done a complete 180 since the last time I was there. I went on a Friday late night for a friend's birthday, and was pleasantly surprised to see a bar full of people. There was even a Dj spinning 90s hits. We only had drinks, so I'm not sure if the food has improved. I'll definitely go back to hang out with friends. They have billiards, darts, and a few old school games.

I love fish tacos and have had varying results around town. Fried grouper fish tacos are excellent and 3 for $8.99 ! Service was friendly ,special order for my dates lunch was handled well. We went by for a late lunch and had a great experience.

The three star review for this place is spot on. The positives - Great sports bar with ton's of TVs playing anything you could want. Good beer selection and a dive bar atmosphere, except in the best way possible. Also, I met the owner while here and he was very nice and seems like geniunely likable local owners. The negatives - If you are looking for top quality food, this place probably isn't your best bet. It seems to be pretty typical bar food, but there is a lot on the menu so you can probably find something you would like. But if you are health concious, beware that even healthy opotions like spinach and others are drowned in oil or grease. The person I was with did love the turkey burger though so I will have to try that next time. This is a place that I will return to when there is a good game on because I love the atmosphere. If your looking for a casual watering hole, this is the place to go.

I'm probably going to make this review nicer than it should be, because I will probably be back and I don't want to offend anyone. Why go back to such a crappy establishment? Because, if you're just looking for a place to watch a game, and get beer and bar food at reasonable price, then this place is where to go. The Irish fries? Great. The wings? Okay; don't bother spending too much time deciding on what flavor you want, since all come out with what seems to be the same reddish-orange semi-spicy sauce. There is also usually some sort drink special going on. Why is the place so bad? The service. The waitstaff is slow and pretty incompetent; it's almost an impressive feat that they were able to find so people like this and hire them all in one place. So, if you just want cheap food/beer and to watch some sports, this is a decent place to go, but know what to expect. I'll leave you with my horror story from Famous: I went with a friend to watch a game, and asked the waitress to split the check. She got it completely wrong (overcharging me), so I told my friend to just cover my tip and we would be even. When I get my credit card bill for the month, I find that the waitress decided to add a nice tip for herself to the bill (I guess she thought I stiffed her). Credit card company took care of the overcharge, but it was still a pain in the ass.

Famous is an okay sports bar in the Toco Hills shopping center. I came here to watch some of the NCAA tournament basketball games. In terms of watching sports, it's a great place to catch games as there are multiple HD projection screens and several smaller flat panel TVs everywhere. Famous is a bit dated and therefore has more of a "divey" sports bar feel to it as opposed to say a Taco Mac or Hudson Grille. They also have some pool tables and arcade games which the others don't. The interior is spacious and there's plenty of seating, making it a decent option if you want to watch sports with a large group. I've visited for both lunch and dinner and found the food to be average at best. Typical sports bar fare: salads, sandwiches, burgers, wings, pizza, nachos... you get the drift. I've tried the cheese sticks, "Santa Fe" egg rolls, chicken tenders, and BBQ pork sliders. Nothing was terrible and nothing was remarkable. It's just basic grub and had the same level of tastiness as dishes reheated from the frozen food section at Sam's Club. Despite the lackluster eats, service has always been great. I'd give Famous 2 stars for the food and 3.5 stars for the sports viewing, which averages to about 3 stars.

After a couple other visits, I've solidified my opinion that the food is bland and, even worse, caused some upset stomachs in my group of patrons. The food is the missing component. Again, I'd like to say that the wait staff is wonderful and full of smiles, and there are plenty of TVs. Go for the beer, eat at home.

Famous has been in business in the Toco Hills Shopping Center for a long time; I think at least 25 years now. I know this because I grew up in the Toco Hills / Emory area. Famous Pub has never ranked up in my top ten or top twenty favorite haunts; however, because of the convenience and proximity, I have been here many, many times. I have always liked the fact that parking is never a problem at Famous. Unlike other area Sports bars, there is always plenty of parking and it is always free ( no parking attendants or valet parkers). I have seen lots of changes; some good and some decidedly not so. I am basing this review on two recent visits. This past Saturday night Famous was crowded with people watching the Patriots-Broncos game. There were lots of wait staff in place bringing food and drink to tables. The place was hopping and, although I did not eat, everyone I was with seem to dig the food / bar atmosphere. The band playing in the back room / back bar area was not great (but there was no cover to go back there to hear them play either). From my perspective, beer prices have always been on the pricey side and the food has always been fair to middling. A recent menu change seems to have elevated the food choices and perhaps also the quality levels. A recent no smoking policy has also drastically improved the bar atmosphere. But certain longstanding problems still persist at Famous. I also went here on a Monday night and there was hardly anyone in the place. I sat at the bar and had a couple of drinks and ate a hamburger with spicy curly fries. The bartender was certainly attentive but also a little too smarmy and perhaps too overly concerned with selling or executing the up-sale. The burger and fries were good (perhaps better than I have had here in the past) but also a little pricy given the portioning and quality; I have definitely had better pub burgers elsewhere. The only thing I was excited about is that I learned Famous sells large mugs of "house" beer (Miller High Life) for 4 bucks; these are just like the ones one might procure in any Mexican restaurant.. My bill for the burger with fries, the two drinks (Miller High Life Mug and a glass of Crispin Cider), tax, and tip came to almost 23 bucks. I'd rather eat, drink and watch games at nearby Outback Steakhouse for considerably less scratch. Now that La Parilla is nearby, maybe there too. Perhaps Famous really deserves 2.5 stars but on this visit I will dispense with three.

Love Famous! Great food and atmosphere for plenty of friends. Just stay away from liquor drinks here. Always super weak and not worth the price. Stick with draft and bottled beer and wine because you can't under pour that. What a shame!

I've been here twice, and I have been pleased with the service. I've heard this place has a reputation of being a wild place where strippers hang out, but it didn't seem that way when my wife and I were here. Famous Pub seemed to be a laid back and quiet place. Maybe that isn't for everybody, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I can't believe it has been over a year since I last reviewed this place... I try to make it for poker every Wednesday. So, I guess you can call me a "regular". I would definitely say this is my favorite venue... mostly because it is in a great neighborhood--MINE! But, I also like the "family feel" to this place. It has entertainment for everyone-- pool tables galore.. poker on Wednesdays.. and a LOT of sports...enough TV's to see every game you would possibly want to see (although my husband and I aren't sports fans--they're there!). The management/owners seem to have finally settled on their wait staff. (Very valuable when serving a crowd of 50+ regulars on poker nights.) I used to love Jimmy and Wally-- But, Kim and Yamel have learned the routine perfectly! They know what the players want.. Poker has really improved. Stephanie is a great Tournament Director with the Atlanta Poker Club. She makes you feel like you are literally in Vegas with the Big Leagues..Even if it is essentially "free poker". If you want to learn how to play... this is the place to come. (I suggest getting at least the $10-$20 food/drinks though to get your extra free chips though. Otherwise, you won't be able to play long.) No matter what-- you will have a great time. As for bar food-- there is a variety of many items. I am glad that they brought back some of my favorites. But, I wish they brought back some of my other favorites. The shrimp is really awesome. But, the coconut shrimp was the best. I still have a few improvement ideas... But, just personal opinion... If I ever run into the management owners, I will give them my ideas. No matter what, it is my favorite hang out in a great part of town. I would highly recommend it.

Went back to Famous after a multi-year hiatus. It's not that I was avoiding this place but I didn't really have any reason to go. Until last night that is. The hubs and I wanted to get out of the house and watch the Falcons game and were presented with the debate of where to go. He wanted to go to Taco Mac, I personally cannot stand the place. I wanted to go somewhere over by Perimeter, he didn't want to drive that far. So Famous popped into my head. It's close. The bar food is decent as are the beer prices...so off we went! They had done some upkeep since I had last been here. It's now all non-smoking, although I still left smelling kind of musty, and they have put in a lot of new TVs...perfect for game watching. We arrived a little bit early and got a good table but it filled in quickly and all that was left were booths by the wall with limited view of the TVs. If I had one upgrade suggestion it would be for Famous to install some TVs that can easily be seen from those booths. Anyway, they ended up having a full house with standing room only. It was fun trying to watch the late comers try to find chairs. There was a lot of negotiation and banter about chairs and whether they were being used. Service was good even though it was really busy. The servers all worked as a team which was great. We started off with nachos with chicken per our servers suggestion. The chicken was fried little popcorn chicken - very weird for nachos. Next time we will skip the chicken but the nachos overall were good. Then we decided to split the smokehouse burger. It was also good. Get some tot - they're good here. And if you are a beer drinker get the beer tower. Its a way better value over pitchers. We enjoyed ourselves and will definitely come back in the future.

Good place to catch a game and shoot pool. Gets a bit crowded, but the place is big enough that it's never too cramped. Specials cater to the college crowd. Bar food that's slightly better than average.

Went here with some colleagues from work to watch a football game on a Thursday evening. Wanted to try out a new place to watch games. The place wasn't packed but it took at least 20mins before anyone even spoke to us at the table, and this was after my friend flagged someone down. The pitcher finally came and the rest of our friends showed up. They only gave us a couple menus and again we had to flag someone down to get our order taken. 3 of us had the wings and the 4th had potato skins. What they advertise as 'jumbo wings' were even smaller than what you get a Buffalo Wild Wings and they were overcooked, resulting in dry/chewy wings. At $9 for 10 SMALL wings I felt cheated. Service was HORRIBLE, I asked for a water and it never was attended to, I had to ask for a refill. We never got asked if we wanted another pitcher, we had to flag someone down once again. If that wasn't enough, to add insult to injury, when we got our check a 20% gratuity was AUTOMATICALLY added! It was a party of 4, and they went ahead and added tip for horrible service! When one of my friends asked about it the 'manager' came out and said, "oh it's normal procedure for checks greater than $50." This is the FIRST time I've heard of this practice, normally I would expect it for parties greater than 6. Also, we were never asked if we wanted separate checks initially, nor did she ask if we were ready for our check before it came...of course they wouldn't, since it would have made our checks under the $50 limit. The check was just put on the table soon after she cleared our plates, as if she was trying to kick us out of the place. I noticed this wasn't normal treatment with all patrons, however. A few tables around us were promptly greeted and served in a more acceptable manner. Whether it had to do with the color of their skin I cannot verify, but it seemed like a pretty feasible explanation (none of us were caucasian). So the only saving grace that kept me from walking out was I didn't want to miss any bit of the game. I WON'T be returning that's for sure and I suggest you make a short drive over to Buckhead where the establishments are better staffed and attentive to the patrons' needs. You may actually pay a little less for a hell-of-a-lot better service!

Came here for a Braves NLDS game, looking only for a nibble. So I got a chicken Caesar salad and curly fries. The mix of the cold greens with the warm chicken was fabulous, and the curly fries were just like Arby's.

My friend and I were overall satisfied with the restaurant. Pretty good bar food and lots of TVs. Whatever your team is, you can most likely watch it here. The only thing I have to complain about is that I noticed some patrons were smoking cigarettes inside the restaurant. We could even see from our table that a couple of bartenders and servers were smoking indoors too. We thought this seemed unprofessional. Georgia law says that smoking is not allowed in restaurants where patrons under 18 are served. That means that someone should have been making sure everyone was 18 and up at the door, but no one checked our ID's at any time, and some of the customers looked like they were young enough to be minors. It was an annoyance to an otherwise pleasant experience.

It was a Thursday night and the bar was surprisingly packed. I guess "thirsty Thursdays" still goes on after college. I was told this is the "Emory hangout" but there seemed to be a lot of folks well beyond the typical undergrad/grad school age stationed at the bar that night. I hate the fact that GA has not yet enforced the smoking ban for local businesses, so of course I walked out of there reeking of cigarette smoke in both my clothes and hair. Our waitress was great and she must've checked in with us at least 5 times. Apparently, on Thursdays it's karaoke night but boy, were our heads pounding the morning after from the horrific attempts of the fellow bar goers trying to sing random oldies and a song by Lady Gaga. Oy vey! I noticed this sports bar has everything from the neon lighted liquor ad signs, dark cherry wood furniture and pool tables brightly light by the ever so harsh florescent light fixtures. All in all, it's a sports bar in a strip mall. It's the place you go to if you don't have any other options. I think I would have a better time at Hudson Grille or Stats next time. Still trying to figure out why it's called "famous?" Not sure what makes this bar so elite? hmmm ;) #Yelp 365 - 9/365

Decent variety of bar food. Sandwiches, burgers, and lots of appetizers. A lot of different beers to choose from too, though most of their specials are on light beers. And there are televisions everywhere with every football game you can think of.

I've lived by this pub and frequented the Toco Hills shopping center for years, but never thought to go in here! Well, I finally did last night and it's a great local watering hole to drink at! The bartender was really nice and was wearing sexy pants, so that's always a plus. They have cheap beer ($7 pitchers) and the place is HUGE! There's a bar in the front and then another one in the back. So yeah. I think I found my new spot!

I'm just going to make a numbered list. 1. My boyfriend ordered a Yuengling draft, and received something much too hoppy... was likely the Sweetwater IPA. Noted this to staff, who took the beer back and delivered a new one.... much too dark for a Yuengling!!! He was then charged with the more expensive beer on the bill. 2. Beware, when you order cajun fries, they are actually curly fries. Talked to a waiter about this, and responded that "the seasoning is already baked into the fries when they're frozen and then we fry them"... so these are essentially the frozen fries I could get from from Kroger? No matter, if they're going to serve curly fries on the menu, they should be curly fries on the menu. This is misleading. Arby's does not call their fries cajun fries... 3. Despite our two mixups, no one came back to check up on the beer, or the fries, to make sure everything was ok or that we were satisfied. Just restated how they are the same. 4. The waiter came back to tell us that they didn't have the veggie burger, so we ordered one of the wraps instead... and the bill showed that we were charged the price of the veggie burger (more expensive). 5. Waiter mistakenly told me the wrong price for my well drink, so I was overcharged on the bill. 6. The place was dead slow, but it still took 20+ minutes for the check to be delivered after we asked for it...twice. 7. Don't go here if you don't like being frustrated, being overcharged, and having no one care about your customer experience (unless you're a masochist). I was there for an hour, and it was like I was paying 50 cents a minute to be on an episode of Punk'd, but Ashton Kutcher never came out...and I ended up having to pay for it. So to reiterate about the experience... overcharged our beer, underflavored our fries, underapologized. I live less than a mile down the street, and I will never, ever come back. Helloooo, Maggie's Pub!

Creepy. Lots of weird people at the bar gawking at me and my friend... basically no one friendly or non-predatory-looking in sight. We felt really awkward being here alone. I don't even remember what we ordered (and it was less than a month ago) meaning I didn't think much of the food. Service was bad as well- took 20 minutes for someone to even take our drink order.

Smoking sucks. It's disgusting. The chicken wings, hot & crispy, along with some icy cold BL in a pitcher, are as good as learning that you do not have herpes afterall.

We recently moved to the area, and everytime we head to Publix, we think about checking out Famous Pub. We went there tonight, and it was exactly as we expected - a really good sports bar. Roxanne was an amazing server - very friendly and outgoing, excited that we were trying the place for the first time, and very good about getting things done. Our food was quintessential pub food - no fancy frills, just amazing wings, a great burger (bacon, provolone and grilled onions) and a Santa Fe chicken wrap for my wife. We are definitely planning to check out some football there soon, especially with the drink specials they have(!), and the Mrs. is wicked excited about the prospect of playing bingo in a bar. We didn't order any beer, but plan to in the future. The 100 oz. specials looked interesting, and there seems to be a pretty good variety of beer there. Not crazy big like Taco Mac or Old Chicago, but enough to keep things interesting. The prices were definitely right, and if you have Sparkfly benefits through your work, they participate in that promotion.

WOW. My friends and I went there to celebrate his birthday and we ended up getting discriminated against. The bartender was high and openly admitted to it. The minute we payed our check he told us to clear out immediately. When my friends and I asked for some paper napkins he told us to our face that he cant give any. When we asked him why, he said "It is what it is." I clearly felt discriminated by his behavior and the way he treated us. Never going to that place again.

It's an all-american pub with greasy American food. Not a bad selection or menu, but very average and not somewhere you want to go to for fun on a weekend night. It's only good for their basic southern staples (burgers, fried pickles, beer).

  • Samuel Y.

Really enjoyed this place. As soon as I came in they asked me what games I wanted to watch without me prompting, and looked for a seat with a good angle on both. Not finding one they figured out who was watching what and made it work. Lots of TVs and being open late helps too. The owner was nice and talked to my friend and I for awhile. Drinks were cheap, food was standard bar food fare - you'll get what you expect. I'll be going back regularly.

I've been to famous pub a couple dozen times, but just now getting around to reviewing it. Famous hosts one of the larger poker games in town each Wednesday night, so its a good time to give it a shot. The two servers working the poker game do an excellent job, I've never had a problem with either of them. I can't speak for the rest of the staff though. The food is simply 'ok'. Really more hit or miss. The burgers aren't bad, but I have been less than impressed with most of the other things I've ordered. Plus I will have to note that Famous does NOT have erotic photo hunt on either of their bartop machines, since Adam R mentioned them having it in his review.... it must have been removed since then... how lame is that for a 21+ establishment?! That alone loses a star for Famous. Famous Pub definitely fits in with the Toco Hills theme of "culinary black hole", I would not come here if it were not for the poker game, there's simply too many better places around town.

Methinks not. You need more than a couple projectors to be a sports bar. Only thing I can say they are famous for is a rude Michigan manager and a construction worker clientele.

Famous pub is a nice little laid back place in toco hills. It's a good place to go and watch a game, lots of tvs. Also, good beer specials and bar food; the tots and wings are really good. There's also some games and pool tables in the back which are a plus. What I like about it is that when other places near by my be super packed, Famous is usually not over crowded and it's easy to get a table for a group. Good lunch spot or after work hangout.

Lack of service and food quality. We sat down and were greeted but never given any silverware. The appetizer was good but we werent checked on until our food came out. The food runner tried to take our food to two other tables before it made it to us. My partner ordered a medium burger and it was more than done. They also forgot the honey mustard we asked for with the meal. I ordered a burger and steak fries. While the burger was OK at best but the fries were FAR from being anything like a steak fry. The quality of the food was questionable. The burgers were advertised as char broiled however the burgers we received were cook on a flat top and looked like a pre-made burger you would buy at Walmart. The quality of the meat was very LOW. When the waitress finally did come back she seemed very surprised that my partner's food wasn't good. This is definitely a place we will not be back to. Sad since the drink prices are reasonable and the over abundance of televisions.

Famous has a smaller room in the front of the place, and then after a walk through a somewhat narrow hallway you will find yourself in a much larger room inside this sports bar that is literally somewhat famous for Emory and Georgia State students. I used to frequent this location when I first began my college career. Keep in mind, the times that I visited this location I did not know all there was to know about what makes a bar great. When I was younger I thought famous was one of the greatest bars in Atlanta. Now that I am older I am going to have to disagree with my younger self. Famous has all of the typcial qualities that any sports bar should have, only they seem to have had a cheaper furnishing budget. Famous has many different television sets throughout the entire bar, but they look like they were bought at a pawn shop. They also have several pool tables to play on, but they are usually taken for most of the night by local college kids who would fight to the death before they let someone else play on "their table." Famous is also not located in a very nice part of town. I don't think you would have to worry about getting assaulted in the parking lot, but you may worry about someone breaking into your car. So, for all of the appeal this place may have to younger local college kids, the older less intoxicated crowd may be blind to why this place has any success at all.

Some of my best times in ATL have been at Famous. Sad, but true. I haven't been back since all of my Emory friends graduated and moved back to the northeast, but I still get a bit nostalgic when I'm driving around the area. Famous is dim, smoky, and dirty, but it's very spacious and open, with high ceilings and plenty of seating. I'm a nightmare at pool, but I'm always suckered into a game here at one of their 5 or so tables. Surprisingly, the bathrooms are nicer than those at most pubs or bars. The photo booth doesn't always work (and you'll just have to take your chances - there won't be an "Out of Order" sign), but it's worth a shot; it's helped me piece together otherwise hazy recollections of nights at Famous and Maggie's (the bar next door - the two go hand-in-hand). Can't speak for the food since I've never ordered anything, but the drinks are decent and the service has never been bad. Not sure how often I'd want to go there now, but I look back fondly and with a bit of jealousy toward the new Emory students whose good times are just beginning!

I don't know that I'd consider Famous a dive bar, it just seemed like a typical sports bar to me. On a Saturday night it was pretty empty, save for our large group out celebrating Berlin's birthday. When I ordered a 90 minute Dogfishead, the bartender was kind enough to let me know that it was higher alcohol content than a typical brew. Dude, I know. Why else do you think I'd order it? I mean, we're headed to the Pink Pony later, I need as much booze as I can get at this point. Alas, it would certainly be good information for the uninformed. I will comment at the low low drink prices... life in Decatur is pretty good! The food was also a good bit better than expected for a supposed dive bar. The chicken fingers were awesome and my spinach dip was mighty tasty. While I didn't partake in any of the various games they've got set up around the bar, it looked like they had a pretty good selection. I didn't like the gangplank feel of walking to the back of the restaurant to the bathrooms.... I felt like I was on display for all of the pool players to heckle. And heckle they did. Maybe the grizzly clientele is what gives this place its dive bar status?

  • Adam R.

I went here for the first time for the first leg of Berlin's birthday bash. I liked the inside a lot, it was very open, had large projector screens for sports and tv which was cool. There were pool tables, arcade machines, and most importantly photo hunt. As a bonus they had the hard to find erotic photo hunt in both male and female versions and Berlin now has the high score on the male version. The drinks were great. I was amazed as the prices, especially for a Saturday night. My Yuengling was $3.06 and the mixed drinks were not much more. My chicken fingers were okay, but I felt that the medium sauce was pretty spicy. I am pretty sensitive to spice though. A great evening for me is drinking and playing photohunt so I was happy. The added bonus was having Berlin get wasted and open very interesting gifts. Only downside is they allow smoke inside so I felt disgusting by the end of the night. I really wish a few of these good places with good specials would stop allowing smokers inside.

Famous is a good place to hang out and watch games. The highlight is the two 120-inch high def TVs in the front room. I haven't seen that anywhere else in Atlanta. They also have, like most sports bars, a multitude of smaller TVs so you can watch all the games. The servers are friendly, drinks are good and priced reasonably and you can smoke a cigar without getting hassled. The food is typical bar food and the kitchen stays open late. Famous has four distinct areas. There is a covered patio in front which is great when the weather is nice. Some Fridays they will have live music outside. The front room inside is the main sports bar area. The middle section is where the pool tables are. The back in a strange mix of dance club and sports bar. It's a big place and you can be amazed how many people are there and you didn't even see them come in. All in all, it's a good place with a relaxed atmosphere.

Honestly, I enjoyed my two meals at Famous. Don't get me wrong, it's average pub food battered and fried through and through. But, my hotdog wasn't dried out and my burger was thick and full of flavor. I'm not going to put on blinders here, I'm pretty confident that it's probably frozen and thawed in the kitchen, but hey, it's not bad. I've never been at night, so I can't speak to that, but during dinner hours the restaurant is relatively vacant. The waitress staff is nice, but do expect them to forget about you at least once. They do seem to care more about large groups (read: bigger tip) than a small pairing. I had to walk up to one last time to ask for my bill. The best thing I can say about Famous is that it's cheap, and at the price advertised, it's better than many of the restaurants in the area. If you really want something "pubby" and you're in the Emory area, Famous will suit you quite well.

Famous is one of my favorite places in Atlanta. It's perfect for celebrating the occassional win for FILA FC or for catching a football game on Sunday. The late night clientelle is not always classy, but that's one reason why I love this place. It's my people. At least it was when I was younger and perpetually under the influence. The beer is cheap, the grub is tasty enough for drunken munchies, and the service is always friendly. I don't know much about the "night club" in the back, but a lot of people seem to like it. There's plenty of TVs including two giant projector screens, and they do have Sunday Ticket. If you are going for a football game you probably don't need to be more than 15 minutes early, but it will fill up after kickoff so don't be late. Be prepared to reek of cigarettes whether you smoke or not. Bottom line, Famous is always a good time. Great people watching and cheap booze. I love it.

My Husband and I called around looking for the Mountain sport channel so we could catch our Wake Forest Demon Deacons take on BYU last night. Famous was the only bar we could find that was carrying it. So, they started off on the right foot. We walked in immediately following the Falcon's loss to Arizona in the playoffs, so despite a few drunken stragglers the place seemed like it had just cleared out. We opted to sit on the heated patio, because of all the smoke. We still smelled like smoke when we got home, and we only walked through the restaurant when arrived and when we left. Ridiculous. If cigarette smoke bothers you or worse: you're allergic to smoke; stay far away from Famous. Overall our service was above average, food was average bar food, but it was kind of sketchy, and I just wasn't impressed. If it's the only place we can catch a particular game, then we'll be back. I suggest you seek out your closest Taco Mac for the next game vs. giving Famous a chance.

The second you walk in your first impression is exactly what it you should go by. Its a hole. The service and.food could be awesome one day and bad the next. The only reason I rated it as high as I did is because this is a great regular bar. Once you've gone there enough for the employees and regulars to recognize you your treated like royalty. This is also a great bar if you like to see crazy things. For example I caught a middle aged couple having "fun" in the stall of the men's restroom. I suspected kids and was surprised to find the probable parents of highschoolers. I thought it was hilarious. If you did too you'll love this place. If your disgusted, well take my advice and skip this place.

Any bar with Tulie, Gretchen, Lauren, and fellow friends is a good time in the making! Upon approaching this place, I was unsure what to expect from the loud music beat I could hear from the outside, and the smokers exciting. The staff was friendly, quick to service all of our beverage needs. The place has tv's throughout, including 2 very large projections, along with pool tables in the back. For a Saturday night, it seemed empty, but that might be because the place has a lot of room, even with the outside area. Being a non smoker, I appreciated the extra space, to not smell like a tobacco factory. The price was wonderful, $3 for draft beer, along with the fun bar video games, find the subtle difference in the naked photos below, always fun. Though, I doubt they will ever see the luxury of Gretchen attempting to pole dance again!

The people, bartenders and waiters, here are great. But the food is just abysmal. And overpriced considering how bad it is. Come here if you want to be hit on by a 50 Cent lookalike and hit a burger that makes the Wendy's down the parking lot look good.

Ah, Famous. One of those big flashy sports bars in a strip mall. Its saving grace is that it's one of the cheapest cab rides for Emory students. Thus why I have been here a handful of times. Although there's a weird assortment of people. It's students and old men. Cranky old men. Who knows. If you go (this review won't be encouraging), order the french fries. Not the potato wedges, the fries. They're seasoned really well. Not that people come here to eat... One good thing about this place is there's a little something for everyone. At the entrance there are tables, sports games on TV (voila the "Sports Palace"), and the main bar. Go a little farther and you have the pool tables. Enough of them that you can entertain the idea of being able to play that night. Pool makes me happy (I am such a shark. Or not at all.), so I'm rating 2 stars instead of 1. Throw in a couple of arcade games. Then the sort of creepy room in the back: the dance area. There's a stage, and some people dance around, but it makes me feel awkward. Back out slowly. Exit the strip mall. Go elsewhere.

I like the Famous Pub. I think that the food and drinks are very good and the value is good. There are plenty of TVs. They do have a lot of staff turnover for which the Famous is now infamous. All in all, I'm happy to spend my money here.

Absolutely worst service I've ever had. They couldn't get any orders right and everyone's bill was wrong. Good luck if you decide to go here.

Yummy wings and cheap drink specials - the perfect low key spot to drown away the stress from the job, while you watch the game. And because it is in a low key shopping center, you don't have to worry about getting all dressed up. Which after a long week, is a-ok with me!!

I would give Famous Pub one or at most two stars if it were not the most reliable place in town to catch obscure PPV college football games. It's a lock that I can watch Tennessee play Bumblef**k Tech here even when no other sports bar in town in its right mind would bother carrying that game. The clientele can be sketchy. Drunk men in their 40s and up a lot of the time. Cigarette smoke doesn't usually bother me much, but I think the ventilation in there must be poor, because it seems particularly obnoxious there. The food isn't great even by bar standards. Wings range from gross to serviceable depending on the luck of the draw. Avoid the nachos. Seriously. Beer selection? What beer selection? The list goes on, but I go back to avoid the PPV charges. And for that great service to the community, it gets an average three star rating despite not having much of anything else going for it.

I love this place and go there often. The employees are super nice, their pool tables are excellent, and the drinks are reasonably priced. I totally recommend for anyone who wants to go to a cool, low key, casual sports bar

this time they get four stars, they have increasingly gotten better each time i have gone in, if you've read my other reviews then you know i play poker there, they brought back the chip system, thank you ever so much as this makes not only my life easier not having to ask and wait for updated recipes every time but also makes the bartenders job easier and allows for me to order faster and receive what i order faster. which brings me to the bar tender, she is great at her job there is no doubt about that, when you are in the back room ask for Kim, she is the best, as well my food was brought to me this time, BIG plus from the last time i was there and had to get it from the bar myself. The new Poker TD is GREAT, the tables run smoothly and it seems like she is omnipresent, being at all tables at once making sure the game is running smoothly, while the last TD was good, this one is better, the only reason, and i mean the ONLY reason i am not giving five stars is i witnessed someone working there named Patty or something like that yelling at a customer, i wouldn't stand for it, i don't care who you are or how angry you are, you do not yell at a customer, if i were yelled at by someone working there me and the owner would have a nice discussion, i wouldn't even bother talking with management at that point. other than that they have increased there service tremendously, and i will return, if your looking for a fun night out this is a great place, as long as you don't piss that patty woman off.

I never thought I would be pleasantly surprised but this place did surprise me. I didn't expect much at all from this pub, which is located in a a strip mall shopping center. The bartenders were all very nice, especially since we were a larger crowd, and quite rowdy at that, since it was Berlin's 30th Bday bash! The drinks were pretty good, and the price was wonderful. Cocktails and 5.00 and they were made to quench the thirst of alcohol. Very roomy bar, and not as smokey as I had expected. There is a large room in the back that is a bit darker, cooler, and roomier, which can definitely accomodate if you have a larger party for like a bachelor's party, or a meetup event. Staff were very good at what they did, everyone got their food and drinks without complaint! I'd definitely come back! DR on Yelp asked me why this place should be called Famous.. Well for me it should be famous for it's roominess, it's friendly and easy going staff, and it's ability to let a scary stuffed toy cat that meows, sit on the bar top, without having any problems through out the night. Just trust me on this one, you had to be there.

Disregarding every other review point (food, drinks, etc), I am completely reviewing 'Famous Pub' based on the sketchos that frequent this bar. This would be the second time that one of my girlfriends in our group have had something stolen in this bar in the past 3 months. The first time, my friend's purse's contents were taken and her purse was thrown into the men's bathroom. This past weekend, my wallet, among other valuable possessions were taken out of my purse. I am now left canceling credit cards and applying for a new license. We will not be returning and I urge you not to go. It doesn't attract a friendly crowd.

Famous was the first bar I went to in Atlanta. A coworker of mine, who was a recent Emory grad, took me there on a Fri. night with the promise that we would order a beer tower (a roughly four foot tall tube of beer). Unfortunately, Famous had recently enacted a new "towers only on Saturdays" policy, so we were out of luck. But we did get to see some great basketball on TV -- that was the night the Detroit Pistons and Indiana Pacers started a brawl that spilled into the stands. I'll remember it always. Famous is a total college bar in a less than ideal shopping center. The beer is cheap, there are lots of TVs, but word to the wise: occasionally, somebody gets stabbed in the parking lot.

Bad News for Drunks: a new law has emerged that will no longer allow aging -- or fledgling -- alcoholics to quietly indulge their favorite pastime alone at the bar. Yesterday at Famous I showed up a few minutes after my friend, only to discover that he'd been denied service when he ordered "a pitcher of swill." He was instantly informed that individuals could no longer order pitchers of beer all for themselves. When told this was the way things were, my friend asked, "For how long?" The waitress replied, "Forever." The conversation deteriorated at that point. We finally got our pitcher when I arrived. Just to test the new rule, I ordered "a pitcher all for myself" every time the waitress came by, and each time she politely cited the binding decree. Dark and ominous news for Atlanta's countless avatars of alcoholism...

"It is what we that it was" Come here for a beer with the guys and watch the game.......Don't eat the food unless you want finger food...Drink, drink, drink and maybe the people around you will look a little better... I kid I kid. Who am I kidding no I'm not.

I've been here a few times for lunch and have always been impressed with the food and service. It's been fairly empty, so I can't attest the "bunch of drunken college kids" reviews, but I will certainly be back, at least for lunch. They have great drink specials, too.

Nothing about this place invokes thoughts of famous or regal things ... not sure where the name came from, as it is clearly a misconstrued message. Smoky. Crowded. Noisy. Greasy. Blah.

Pretty good place to go and drink, although the beer is moderately priced, there are better values around. They do have great projectors, so for viewing sporting events its a great place. The food is really greasy and a bit overpriced, so I wouldn't recommend going with an empty stomach, but it has decent finger food and if you get really drunk you can rely on the fact that the kitchen doesn't close until 2am, so there's always something to eat there which is nice. Overall it's a nice hangout but know that its going to be loud and crowded with smoky atmosphere and greasy food. But hey, it's a pub, right?

Decent place to go if its around happy hour and there aren't any college sports on. Other than that it gets pretty crowded and the crowd is a bunch of kids all dressed the same that act like they have never had alcohol before. The best part of this place is the opportunity for people watching.

I found this place to be small but moderately crowded. They have two huge projection TVs in the midst of others for your game viewing pleasures. The best part is that the tables are close to the action so it's not like your average sports bar with the televisions far away. It has a very homey feel and everyone there is incredibly friendly. The music is for lack of a better word, "awesome". Shoot pool, eat food, watch sports, play Foosball or one of the vid-games in the back. It's a really nice place and I got the feeling that if you frequent it, everyone will know your name. The food we had could have been a little better. The chicken fingers looked like some shrimp which was a little odd to me but no complaints. An overall great place to be.

Came here early for the PSU game to watch in the back.. the entire place was packed and kinda smokey.. I didn't like it at all, people were all over the place sitting on the steps because it was so packed. You definitely need to get here at least 45 minutes earlier to secure a position, especially on big game days.

Great sports bar. Never had a bad experience with the service - they're friendly, helpful, and courteous. Food is fine - though I usually go just for a brew (but selection of craft brews is minimal if you tend to disdain Budweiper and its ilk). But the deal breaker is the SMOKE! I left my jacket outside overnight to try and air it out...and it still reeks. Come on, guys: this should be a no-brainer. Get with the times: all that goodness overshadowed by one short-sighted policy? Offering a no smoking area can make one feel unwanted in the otherwise convivial main area. If you must allow smoking, have them be sequestered. One parting shot: bartenders smoking is a real turnoff.

A big and tacky, smoky, hodge-podge place. Mostly a college bar to me, but can be fun.

Oh Famous. I understand the 'Pub' and 'Sports' references but am lost on the word 'Palace.' This dark pub is suitable for watching football and eating a mediocre burger and fries. The high tops and booths are comfortable enough, and the beer is inexpensive. Come early in the evening and play a few rounds of pool. There are even video games in the back reserved for the incredibly mature. I would compare this place to a dim, depressed Dave and Buster's. Beware in the wee hours of the morning Famous transforms into a haven where wasted Emory students dominate. People spill from Maggie's into Famous and back again. Not my idea of royalty, but it's always an entertaining time.

you just gotta love famous' for being a great college bar...i am always amused when i go there...i mean, seriously, where else in the world can you get such good fun next door to a dept of labor office and publix? i think i just love the irony of an employment office next to a bar in a strip mall...that's my toco hills style! famous is surrounded by good places to eat and most importantly near to brusters, for that not uncommon desire for icecream after beer.
