First and foremost, Mike and Peter you are dope as shit. I hope you read this to know that. My homegirl is a regular and always talks about this dope pub off of Elliott St down in Castleberry Hill area. I finally went Sat and I am officially a regular. Great convo with both Mike and Peter, delicious sandwiches ( got the Mad Italian) and even better drinks. Mike made me a Moscow Mule with bourbon. yes BOURBON!!! So good I had two!!!

I came here on a Friday night because I heard they had great live bands. Unfortunately, there was no band playing that night. I thought that was odd considering the night of the week. Oh well, better luck next time. The reason they are getting one star is because of the way the male bartender treated a few girls that walked into the bar to use the restroom. While they were not paying customers, I see no problem with letting them use the restroom. The bartender made a big scene about it and kicked them out. Now, these girls were respectful and well dressed. They were also African American. From what I saw, the only reason they were kicked out was because of the bartenders prejudice. After they left, the bartender turns to me (as I was in line behind them for the loo) and says "you're welcome for getting those people out of here." Unacceptable. I immediately left and will not be back.

I got the special! Spicy chicken, jalapeño havarti, lettuce, tomato, onion and Sriracha jalapeño mayo!! There is a great variety of chips to choose from and the potato salad is amazing!!!! The cole slaw is sooooo good too! We got both. Love this place and highly recommend it!!

After a morning of zombie hunting we stopped in to grab a bite at the small hole in the wall. The service was outstanding. Our sandwiches were even better.

**TOURIST REVIEWS** I hate writing reviews about cool, one of a kinda places like Elliotts because well then everyone is going to find out about it and start going there and it's going to become really popular and it will ruin the WHOLE thing. No seriously. This is a cool corner dive bar with beer in cans, and boars head sandwiches. Stickers all around and dim lights. I had a beer and it was cold. I saw a sandwich getting mad and it looked so good. We stopped here before walking across the interstate to the Phillips Arena. I hope this place stays the exact same! A lovely local business.

I come for the live jazz music on Wednesday nights. It's a small intimate place but the music is always chill and groovy. I guess you could call it choovy.

This is a cool little spot with fresh food and cool people. When I walked in it reminded me of a museum with pop culture artifacts. I stopped by after reading the reviews of these famous sandwiches they have. I started with a spinach salad that was good then I got the French dip to go. The dip was pretty good. They serve it on a hard French roll that is great when you dip it in the onion au jus. Overall this place is cool. I would stop by again and grab another sandwich.

Was hungry as hell and went to some other place and found out they were closed due to issues with the health department... seems like every other place in the area is either out of business or closed for renovations. The owner of the closed establishment recommended this place, said the potato salad was a must have. I had two sandwiches that were pretty OK. The potato salad was OK too, I don't know what kind of crappy potato salad the locals are use to but I was not blown away by it. I've had pretty average german potato salad which was much better than this. I had some scotch as well. I don't remember what else I got or paid for but the bill ended up to be 65$ which feels kind of steep for 2 sandwiches and some highland park.

Elliott's is a small divey neighborhood bar in Castleberry Hills. I'm not the hugest fan of the neighborhood, but it seems to be getting better. Elliott's is pretty small but I've never had a problem getting a seat at the bar. The bar tenders are pretty friendly and they have a decent selection of bottled/canned beers plus a full bar. The drinks here are pretty stiff which great thing is. The sandwiches are pretty good and use Boars Head meat and the bread is from a local bakery. The veggies are always fresh and tasty. My favorites are Mad Italian and Turkey Slawich but I don't think you can go wrong with any of the menu items. The best thing about this place is the potato salad. You have to get it! I think they use sour cream instead of mayo and it makes for some of the best potato salad I have ever had. They also have live music in the basement regularly so check their website for the calendar to see who is playing. Overall I am a fan of Elliott Street and will definitely be back soon. I'd probably only give it 3 stars but the potao salad is soooooooo good it bumps it up to 4.

This place is more than just a cool pub, its a great place to hang out and become a local. Mike & Pete are awesome. The conversation is great and the sandwiches are even better. Its a MUST visit place when I'm in the area.

I was in town for business and needed to get a quick lunch before my flight. Yelp you did not fail me! This place is the perfect place for a yummy sandwich. I had the mad Italian pressed on ciabatta. It was so delicious! I will def be back here the next time I'm in town :)

Love this bar! Pete & Mike are awesome, amazing and I have always felt welcome whenever I walk in. You have to stop in for not only the eclectic atmosphere but the sandwiches are delicious! I can never decide which one I want -- great drinks, try the Moscow Mule it's my personal fav! One of Atlanta's best kept secrets for locals.

This was an excellent place. Coming from out of town, my group went for lunch, and their sandwiches were excellent. I had the Greek Pastrami, which was great, and they gave each of us a sample of their loaded potato salad. The staff was also fantastic and friendly. They gave us tons of recommendations for what to do and where to eat in Atlanta. They clearly take pride in their jobs and city. Next time I am in Atlanta, I will be visiting again.

This is a VERY small neighborhood bar, accommodating 8 people at the bar, sharing counter space with two large registers; so a little tight for two people. There is a small eating area outside that is covered, and a few tables in front (uncovered). In essence, this is a local dive bar, with a very ample lunch menu of sandwiches, hot pressed sandwiches (modified paninis). The excellent variety of sandwiches, utilize mostly Boar's Head supplies, are priced around $9. Sides of chips, cole slaw, potato salad, etc. are extra. Note: be aware: No beer on tap during the day, as they are in cool-down mode for the evening/night!!! My Rachel (think Reuben) slightly pressed sandwich of corned beef, cheese made on rye bread (delicious), plus cole slaw, and bottle of beer was $14.25. This is strictly a local hangout; not a destination, unless you are meeting someone in the neighborhood, or passing through , but check hours of operations, as they close down during the mid-afternoon.

  • Stephanie G.

Love this place. Close to home and great for a chill night. It's not crazy or crowded like most of the bars in Atlanta. It's a small neighborhood bar. If that's what you are looking for, this is THE place to go. If you want a big bar environment, go elsewhere. What I love most is that I can swing by here after a long run/bike ride around town and grab a beer and a sandwich to re-fuel! (yes, I'll be the gross sweaty person, sorry!) Oh and the turkey slawwich on multi-grain is amazing here!

Ever been to one of those dive bars in a dumpy neighborhood where there's a bartender-slash-owner who tells the same, unfunny stories over and over and over again while his snap-back-ventilated-trucker-hat-sporting, shaggy hipster beard-wearing, root beer vodka-slurping sycophants laugh uncontrollably like they've never heard those stories before? Elliott St. Pub is one of those places. Ever been to one of those places where the vernacular that's exchanged is clearly unknown to you (or most intelligent English speaking people) and phrases like "zero fucks given" are bandied about like a shuttlecock at a Chinese championship badminton match? Elliott St. Pub is one of those places. Ever been to one of those places where the food is so mediocre and overpriced that you wish you never ordered it, but you were two beers in, got hungry, and one of the wait staff said "yo, if you're hungry, man you should try one of our deli sandwiches made with real Boar's head lunch meat" in a way to suggest to you that Boar's Head lunch meat is somehow, a premium meat? Elliott St. Pub is one of those places. Ever been to one of those places where there is a live band playing thats sounds like four middle schoolers banging on pots and pans while the screech of prepubescent lyrics detailing love and loss travel through a microphone only to be shat out of a crappy sound system making you think "these guys suck", yet everyone in the bar seems to bob h/her head in approval? Yup. You guessed it: Elliott St. Pub is one of those places. Highlights: * Ten bucks for a "premium" lunch meat sandwich you can make at home with any store-bought lunchmeat, sandwich spread, and white bread * Beer you can get anywhere else * Horrendous live music played by rank wannabes not talented enough to make the first round cut at the local high school talent show Welcome to the Elliott St Pub. My suggestion? Skip this joint. Elliott St is for its regulars. Much like the "premium" meats in its sandwiches, Elliott Street Pub is way past its sell date. The coolest thing about this place? The ship's maiden hanging above the door. Quick tip: If you're lonely and looking to make friends, go here knowing the phrase "zero fucks given" and you'll quickly make pals. Go more than once, listen, pick up more insider phrases, repeat them and you'll have friends for life who enjoy Boar's Head sandwiches, warm beer, and shitty music.

An Atlanta gem. Great bar, great sandwiches (my favs are the dirty bird, mad italian & the french dip) great live music, great events (iron pours are Awesome) and the brothers that run the place are super. Two enthusiastic thumbs up!

  • Average G.

Baked Potato Salad is to die for. The sandwiches are solid but the star is the baked potato salad. Great atmosphere and events here including iron pours and the brass bands. If you can't find it on your GPS or think this place isn't legit, then you're elk probably shouldn't waste space here since it is a smaller place. For the rest of us fans, long live the baked potato salad!!!

  • Matt L.

This is a great, cool, laid back place. The performance space in the basement brings in some dynamite talent, but the real draw is the personality. I've been to "nice" places in Roswell where the bar didn't have the alcohol selection and the bartenders didn't have the talent as this place. If you're in the area, drop in!

A true hole in the wall type of place located in Castleberry Hill right next to Fire Station #1. We were in the area shooting a short film and wanted a bite to eat. Luckily Yelp had this place mentioned and it was worth the short walk. This is the definition of a dive bar. It's not a tourist trap and I would hate to see what happens to hoity-toity tourists that get out of line. Maybe that's the special ingredient in the chili surprise. Das tips: 1. Parking? Better not expect any type of parking lot. It's all street action and it's more competitive than a political fundraising event. If you're staying late, ensure that your valuables are hidden. The area does have some shady folks walking around checking for your goodies. 2. In house seating? Hell naw! It's as cozy as it gets. It's for drinking and meeting folks, hence the small confines. If you're claustrophobic, you're screwed. There are some tables outside for those nice evenings. 3. Food. I'm not much of a sandwich person anymore due to my diet changes but they use Boar's Head for meat and the sandwiches are fantastic. Perfect amount of mustard, onions, etc. Yes it will be a little pricey but well worth it. 4. The service is friendly and fantastic. Be aware that you must buy at least $15 to use a debit or credit card. They do have an ATM ($2 fee) if you want to pay in cash. 5. If you stay all night, be aware of your surroundings because there are some shady folks looking for an easy person to potentially rob. The police do seem to frequent the area for check-ups. It's a little out of the way for me but I will definitely keep this place in mind if I'm in the vicinity.

loved this place! An Atlanta must-do in my mind. Organic and genuine little pub with great food, cold beer, but most importantly a warm and friendly atmosphere. Owner Mike and Barman Jordan very friendly and accommodating. flawless service. Was there on a Wednesday night which happened to be when they have very chill live music from local bands a musicians. Very happy I found this place for the 8 hours I was in transit in Atlanta. Mention James with a beard and Mike will give you a free beer (Probably not, but worth a try, ha. prob not official Elliot St pub policy...)

Found myself here thanks to Yelp while I was waiting for a driver to get back to the nearby FedEx depot with my missing shipment. Tiny bar, with friendly bartenders and even friendlier locals. While my colleague and I initially expected to just come in and grab a beer, we ended up killing a lot of extra time with drinks, a round of shots, and some excellent low-key food. Nothing is overly prettied up, but it is all excellent. Looking forward to finding myself in the area again, but if I don't, it will be a good memory.

It's been over three years since I wrote a review about this place and I really must update my original three stars. The sandwiches are on point. The tomato caprizi and the turkey slawich are my favorites. They also have a great lineup of live music now. The place is pretty amazing and a must see if you're in Castleberry Hill.

After 40 min waiting for a sandwich in an empty bar, we ask where are food is... "Are you in a hurry?" Replied the bartender. No but I enjoy eating somewhere near the time I order food. 45 minutes later... Good food, horrible bitchy service. Pms is manageable, see your doctor.

Love this place! It's a little hidden gem of Atlanta. Some days it's the quiet hole in the wall you are looking to peacefully unwind in and others there are 300 people partying in the street with bands and performance artists. I also like there basement music venue The 51, always interesting acts performing. The food is amazing! It's a deli so it's only sandwiches and salads but when I say they are the best sandwiches in town... I mean THE BEST! The staff is awesome too. I have had conversations with them ranging from politics, to music, to current events, to horror movies. Always a delight. Highly recommended! I am editing this review due to an utterly ridiculous review left by Melia B. The owners and staff of this establishment are in absolutely no way racist or prejudice AT ALL! It is a common practice of just about every establishment that restrooms are for customers only. They even have a sign on the front door indicating this.

I wandered into this place because I was turned away by Smoke Ring (which stops serving food at 10, so don't be misled by the later hours posted). It's easier to find a one-eyed Guyanese streetwalker down here at 10 on a Tuesday night than it is to find food, but from outside of Smoke Ring I noticed hints of human activity about a block to the north, and it was there that I found Elliott Street Pub. This place is too hip for me. From the sounds of what I assume was a middle-school garage band practicing in the back room, to the discussions among furry man-children of purchasing fixies and Nikon lenses from thrift shops, it's just not my scene, ya dig? As Zappa stared at me from a painting above, his eyes seemed to be saying to me, "Order the Dirty Bird." And order it I did, and then I whispered an apology to Frank for all the times I've joked about Dweezil playing guitar on Don Johnson's "Heartbeat" and I asked him whether he and ol' Lou had crossed paths and made up on some astral plane since the latter's recent passing, as the kids at the bar passed around a bag of Halloween candy and discussed shit they know absolutely nothing about. Never studied planning or engineering? Never researched traffic studies? Never even read a USA Today article on the subject, with colorful charts and News McNuggets? Then shut the fuck up about anything you think of the 400 toll plaza beyond "It sucks, yo." And if I hear one more dipshit say "Zero fucks given" then I'll be forced to strangle someone with his own sweatband. But I digress... I asked for my sandwich to be made without Swiss and for them to add bacon, but when it arrived, I couldn't taste the blue cheese at all. I'd ordered it exclusively because I was craving bacon and blue, so although it was a pretty good sandwich, I wasn't wholly satisfied. For a brief moment, I actually considered ordering a beer, which happens about as often as you see/hear the words "Starring Aaron Eckhart" in a trailer, but that thought speedily evaporated when I saw how much it cost. I ordered tea and ate silently, until I heard myself mentioning to the vapid wookkies around the bar the sweet Denon CD transport I'd bought for $5 at Goodwill recently... and then I decided it was time to slip out before my transformation into one of the pod people was complete. $15 minimum purchase on credit cards. Bonus points for no smoking indoors. Overall, 5/10.

I would move to Atlanta just for this bar. It's on a quiet dead end. It's a dive. The drinks aren't incredibly cheap, but that's okay.

  • Reba Jean B.

I don't call Elliott Street "my pub". It seems to be just a lil too far away from Decatur to frequent enough to call my own. I would be in deep trouble if this was just next door. The bartenders are incredibly friendly. Drinks are to the point, only one beer on draft. The patrons are just as quirky there as they are on my side of town. Remember, the place is itty bitty and it's easy to get caught up in a conversation with the ENTIRE bar. They still host the iron pour for the Castleberry Art Stroll which is a great event in the city. Live bands play here weekly. They even have a Jazz open mic/ free-for-all every Monday evening in the basement. Elliott Street Deli is a true treasure to have in Atlanta.

A hole in every sense, but a likeable one, and a genuine one. The kind of place that Atlanta needs more of, if the tailgate scene here will ever be like the ones in Chicago or Boston. Just about the only place I'd stop and get a drink at, if I'm going to a Falcons game. Why don't we have more these places? The crowd at the Dome sucks on Sundays. Same for the crowd at Hawks games. Know why? Because the Taco Macs of the world cater to the air-conditioned, well-mannered (see "fair-weathered" fans) that show up late to games and ask you to take a seat because they can't see the game, all the while, they're sitting on their a**ses, while talking through most of the game... (Somebody PLEASE ship these people back to the midwest...) Support your local neighborhood bars. Support your local businesses.

Fun friendly neighborhood bar and grill cold beers and great sandwiches with lots of cool activity's like jazz on the street, Iron poor and my favorite the monthly Atlanta Photography Guild meetings. The owners go out of their way to make feel right at home. I totally recommend Elliott Street Deli & Pub for fun and spirits!!!

In an area that is internet - dry, the free wi-fi is a breath of fresh air! The pub has an interesting history and congenial staff. This place is great for a quick meal, business meeting or casual date.

There is alot of hype around this place but in regards to the sandwiches, I just dont see it. I went on a weekday as to make sure parking wasnt a bitch. I got the greek pastrami and although it was good, I thought it was a wee bit tiny for 8 bucks. I guess I expected a little more pastrami or something. It was stacked like a cold cut sandwich. A tasty experience none the less and next time I go to a game ill stop in to try give something else a shot.

can we give 10 stars? 20? there's not enough good stuff to say about Elliott Street Deli + Pub, the 51 (basement music room) or the owners and staff. food (primarily homemade sandwiches) is epicly good, perfect size bar to encourage conversation amongst patrons (if that's not your thing this probably ain't the place for you). perfectly quaint music room in the basement and a side court + junk yard :) We sincerely love Elliott Street and plan to stop in every time through ATL if possible. cheers guys. hope it's been a good summer. You're one of 3 stickers that have made it onto the van (along with Blue Moon Saloon in Lafayette and Cow Dog Hotdogs in Alpine, TX) update: yelp wanted us to choose an ambiance category - it's all of the above. hipster, casual, romantic, intimate, divey, classy, trendy, upscale and touristy (if you're the kind that doesn't suck :p)

Umm....WOW. This is one of the coolest places that most Atlanta residents will never experience. It's hidden on a little corner in Castelberry Hill and unless you know someone who knows about this place, you'd never find it. The sandwiches are amazing. I've had the Mad Italian and Turkey Slawich. Words cannot describe either of them. I can't wait to try the others. (I plan on sampling the entire menu) I'll put it this way: I almost didn't want to write this review because I don't want anyone else to discover this place. I'd rather keep it all to myself.

I cannot tell you how happy I am that Mike and Pete have changed the smoking policy and no longer allow smoking inside. That was all I needed to hear. A Dirty Bird sandwich was soon mine, and I loved it!

LOVE this hole in the wall bar, hate to tell too many people about it because it's just that cool! You never know who will walk through their door. Fresh, tasty sandwiches, good conversation....cool atmosphere. Mike and Pete are the BOMB, they got this down!

They are what they say. A bar that servers some darn good sandwiches. I had the Italian on rye an found it to be fresh meaty and not too sloppy. If I wasn't trying to slim down I would have ordered another just based on taste. The place has a soul, character and Pete and Mike are welcoming host.

This little whole was certainly worth finding :-) Plenty of shit on the walls to stimulate my eyes and start up conversations. The staff is not just friendly, but they are attentive and have some personality. It's a super small pub and it was pretty dead during the holiday weekend, but the potential to spill out in the street/patio space is a pretty cool. Those sandwiches looked might tasty as well. I don't spend much time in this area, but if I did, or am around again, it's worth at least sitting down for a beer.

i dont usually like dive bars... and this is definitely a late night dive.... but if you have good company to have a drink with, its a cool place to do just that. so i give it 4 stars because theres really nothing wrong with this place, per se. its just not the best place to go. it is kinda small and doesnt have a great bar selection. its not classy and its not expensive. it is however very casual and one of those "everyone's welcome" sorta places. and by everyone's welcome, i mean anyone from teens (they didnt card me) to the homeless (or those who resemble the common traits of such). but before i get an inbox full of hate mail, know that i do like this place. ive heard the sandwiches are awesome.

This is what I love about yelp. Elliott Street Deli and Pub is RIGHT BEHIND MY BUILDING and I never knew it existed, but due to my list of places to eat downtown, someone who may or may not be affiliated with Elliott Street Deli sent me a yelp message and pointed me there, accurately describing it as "right across the bridge." Yesterday I finally got to try it for lunch. I didn't even know there was a bridge behind my building, but lo and behold, the little red building was indeed right across it. Less than a 5 minute walk. Awesome. Even aside from the fact that it is mind-bogglingly close to where I work, I love the chill and friendly feel, and everyone working there is awesome. An Ultimate, served hot, was the favorite, and everyone seemed to love their sandwich. The two of us who ordered diet cokes asked for a couple of refills while we were there and then got the bartender to make us one to go when we left, which he happily did. A solid lunch experience, and it would likely be even better for a drink after work. A few things to be aware of: 1) there is not much seating, and the only table seating is outdoors. So it's not that suitable for larger (6+) groups, but you can make it work, and they'll sure as heck try to help you. 2) there is only one vegetarian item on the menu-a tomato mozzarella type sandwich, and not much room for creating anything else vegetarian. Oh, and the potato salad has bacon bits. 3) the prices are fairly reasonable but everything's a la carte - so chips and/or drink will cost extra. I had a sandwich, chips and a drink for $9.50.

Great locals bar. Good food and the iron pour is worth the trip. Daniel Timms runs the iron foundry. Make a custom iron tile. Get there early to buy a tile and make your masterpiece.

Good place to stop in and get a sandwich. They are quick, modestly priced, and the sandwiches are good. Modestly priced as well. The owners (or who I assume are owners) are not stuffy pricks either, so that's always a plus.

Still I am thoroughly enjoying Elliot Street (and continuing to be a loyal patron, there at least 1-3 times a week). A couple updates: They always have a keg with an IPA beer for $3 that is on an honor system. Also, if you are interested, sign up for their updates on their Facebook page "I love the Elliot Street Pub." Last night, for instance, they advertised "Live Jazz" which was really great. Check it out! And tell Mike and Pete "Katrina" got me to come! HEHE.

Man, this place is damn difficult to locate! Google Maps doesn't tell you that the upper half of Mitchell Street (the bridge), north of Spring Street, is closed!! Know your route before you get there. Or you'll get lost too, because the pub is really tucked in there. But jeez, when we finally got there, the Turkey Slawich was well worth it. A hot-pressed bread of your choice with turkey, provolone cheese and my new favorite condiment on sandwiches most recently, COLESLAW! Heavenly! I applaud the bartenders and deli-makers for an awesome job on a busy night. We were there with fellow bicyclists after an afternoon race, and they offer a great place to host gatherings and parties. Though they are tiny on the inside, all the action was outside on the street, with the cityscape as it's backdrop.

I'm never in Castleberry Hill, but now I have a reason to return. Went here on a Wed night after the Man City / Club America game in the Dome--I thought my pal was off his rocker when he said there was a good bar within walking distance of the Dome. Lo and behold! The reviews about the guys being friendly are no exaggeration. They were fairly busy when we arrived but they made time to greet us and get our drink order immediately. I ordered a sandwich (the "Classic" or something like that) and it was sensational. Very fresh, extremely tasty. There's also a basement and the AC was kickin down there, which was awesome, with a band and a DJ. Elliot St. is a very lightly traveled side street so the party kind of spills out on the sidewalk in front which creates a really nice vibe. For the service, atmosphere, and sandwiches, I will definitely be back.

You can keep your Quiznos, Subway, Jimmy Johns, and Jersey Mikes, no thank you! It always strikes me as a funny thing, that the hole-in-the-wall places are usually, always, the best, when compared to big chains, or high dollar joints. And this place is no different, well actually it is. I'm not a huge sandwich fan, but, I will happily come here once a week or every other week, time permitting. What once was a derelict run down two story building, has been turned into one of my all time favorite places to bring company from out of town, or just to introduce friends to new places. The staff here are laid back, friendly, will talk to you and bring up some very interesting topics. They have a decent bar and tap, but what I come here for, is the food. Roast beef and cheddar on ciabatta please, and make it hot! These are the best deli sandwiches in town, 'nuff said. Top it off with fountain drink, a bag of chips or the home made, and most awesome, potato salad (where bacon is a key ingredient) and you get yourself a full meal for around $15 with tip. Every sandwich they offer there is fantastic, the bread is fresh and so is the veggies. I believe all the meat is Boar's Head, correct me if I'm wrong. But everything from a Cuban to roast beef to a meat mountain, is on the menu. Inside space is limited, large groups really should look elsewhere, but 3-4 person groups can squeeze in if they get there before 9 PM. Seating inside looks to be limited to about 10-15 total. Everyone needs to check this place out. A cool simple atmosphere and good food, it is all I could ask for.

Can you find a cooler more low key place in Atlanta? Probably not! This place has a reputation the precedes it. A tiny bar with excellent made-from-scratch sandwiches and plenty of beer. Leave your attitude at the door or you might find yourself in the gutter as the 2 owners are HUGE! It's in a secret semi dilapidated urban location (only because I can't really work out Castleberry Hill) but if the sun is out you can sit in the street outside. Like the A-Team...if you have a hunger, and you can find it. maybe you can drink at Elliot Street!

My new favorite neighborhood pub, if only I lived in the neighborhood... Elliott Street is owned by two brothers who live in the building above the bar. You'll find one or both of them serving drinks and hanging out with their neighbors nightly. It's small, but has some character. I loved the paintings of Frank Zappa and Willie Nelson on the walls. It's the kind of place where they know their customers, and if they don't they make a point of getting to know you and introducing themselves. Elliott Street Deli and Pub is a throwback to the days of local bars where you can get a shot and a beer and see familiar faces at every seat. As for the food, I had a great greek pastrami sandwich (your typical pastrami with feta and tzatzik)i. Simple, fresh ingredients and on bread baked that morning. Food doesn't have to be complicated or fancy to be good, it's a lesson lots of pubs should take to heart. Special thanks to Karen F. for introducing me to this place. It's such a cool neighborhood pub, it made me start wishing I lived close by. Then I felt guilty about cheating on East Atlanta Village and had to apologize to all my neighborhood bars one by one.

5 stars for attitude, 4.2 stars for food, 3.5 stars for beer selection. If we had 15 more places as cool as this around town, then I would hang out alot more often. These guys rock and checkout their website for Sunday brunch. I wish I could get there for an iron pour or some jazz. Unique, Has Heart, and Worth Every Penny Community Keg in a Crack House they restored WTF!!! Don't forget the bechamel....... wink, wink Chef Invisible--Out

The best neighborhood bar in Atlanta!!! -- awsome beer, best Caprese sandwich. Non-presumptous, small, good people and really tasty sandwiches. The Caprese is to die for. Addictive. Get it with Ciabatta and Spinach. I wondered what they did to make it so tasty so I asked them. They said teh spinach was home grown and the tomatoes + bread were organic, from a local farmers. That's what made so good!! I was there for the Iron Pour. What a cool experience. Pete (owner) and the bartender were so nice,

Okay, so I am a firm believer that everybody has a secret dive spot that they call their own. This is mine. Ive been there with friend before, but really, this place calls to me to ride solo. Only nine seats, a free-standing keg in the corner with plastic cups and a tally pad, amazingly kind staff, and most of all - KILLER food. Elliott St. is by far, hands-down, my favorite hangover cure. Sandwiches are made by the owner in the little somewhat open kitchen, serves on a piece of parchment directly on the bar, and are either toasted or cold to your request. The Dirty Bird in Blue has to be my favorite, Mesquite Wood Smoked Breast of Turkey and Imported Swiss Cheese topped with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and chunky Bleu Cheese - superb. Other greats would be: the Mad italian (Ham, Mortadella, Genoa Salami, and Ham with Pesto mayonnaise, and topped with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, roasted peppers, Balsamic Vinegar, and Extra Virgin Olive Oil) and the Greek Pastrami (Pastrami Beef topped with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, Feta Cheese, and Tzatziki Sauce). Highly recommended and equally addictive.

This place is AWESOME.. Tucked away in it's own little corner, it's a fully stocked 12 seat bar. You may think kinda small, but it has BIG personality. The owners are wonderful and extremely down to earth. The APG hosts their bi-weekly shooting (photography) meet-ups here on Tuesdays. It's a total neighborhood pub with great customer service. I haven't eaten here yet, but I hear their cannolis are AWESOME... Gotta Love it~

An old friend and new neighbor of mine, Mary; wanted to check out the hidden gems of Castleberry Hill and I suggested tht we check out Elliott Street. Mary fell in LOVE with the place and is dubbing it her new local hangout! This is the best place to relax, have a few drinks, lounge out in the patio and chill with the residents and visitors of the neighborhood. They serve really amazing sandwiches and I am addicted to their baked potato salad! My favorite thing to do here, is to take shots of Root Beer Vodka! It taste like those little A&W Barrell candies you had when you were a kid...so good! The owners are really nice guys and it's great to have a really special bar/pub like this in the neighborhood! They also host a couple of events during the year, like an Iron Pour during the ArtStrolls. I only hope more establishments like this will come into Castleberry Hill and keep the charm of the neighborhood. Places like this are the reasons why we love living here and why people come to visit!

What a great little spot that you'd never find unless someone told you about it! Stopped by for a few beers and a sandwich, and man - the sandwiches were FANTASTIC! I had the Dirty Bird in Blue: turkey, lettuce, tomato, Swiss and bleu cheese dressing, on ciabatta and pressed hot. Probably the best sandwich I've ever had. They were out of a couple of beers, so I was a little disappointed by that. But Sarah, the bartender, was really nice and we had a great time talking to her. The place itself is pretty neat - very small bar, and a covered patio with tables. We sat outside while it was raining, and it was neat to listen to the rain on tin roof of the patio. They have some cool old cars that a couple of the guys work on, which just adds to the character. I've gotta go back and see one of the iron pours, which are said to be quite the party.

My coworker Walter R. and I came rolling into Elliott Street last Saturday afternoon. I looked greasy and disgusting, after going for a jog and not feeling like taking a shower. The swirling mess of my hair fit in perfectly at this little dive. We spent at least a couple hours chatting up the bartender, Bonnie, and the owner, Peter, who made the most heavenly roast beef sandwich ever--roast beef, cheddar and horseradish mayo, pressed and accented with spinach, tomato and onion. Walter R. had the Mad Italian and seemed to have a similarly celestial experience. I also ordered a "homemade" brownie. Big mistake. The oily, black square was disgusting. However, since my sandwich and sweet tea were so amazing, and Bonnie and Peter were so damn cool, I won't hold that foible against them.

I've been there a few times because my friend lives in the lofts next door. Last night I went there with 6 or 7 friends and sat outside. We were celebrating so we quickly ran up a tab upwards of $200 worth of food and drinks.... most establishments would covet this sort of visit but instead we were given a really shitty attitude from the bartender who was more williamsburg than williamsburg and had some ironic hipster hat on. Then at 2am the owner comes outside (after we just ordered a full round of drinks + shots) and says its last call and to leave immediately. The guys was extremely rude and confrontational. He then proceeded to tell us "My bar only has 9 barstools for a reason" I guess suggesting that we didn't make the cut for the pretentious hipster hangout team.

This place reminds me of some of the dives I used to visit with my friends in my hometown of Muskogee, Oklahoma. Except in Muskogee, the bikers weren't as nice. Wow, from the minute we walked into the bar (L-shaped and crowded with what looked to be regulars watching the game) we felt comfortable. A couple of them were smoking (it's a bar, after all) so we seated ourselves outside. Plastic tables and chairs, makeshift patio, stucco peeling from brick walls - if this kinda stuff turns you off, don't go. But if you're looking for an authentic neighborhood experience, this is a Diva Dive! We ordered 2 beers (extra points for carrying high gravity Chamay at 9%), a turkey sandwich with bleu cheese and a smoked turkey sandwich with slaw - both pressed. Honest, fun, GUNKY sandwiches - delivered in waxed paper, for gosh sakes! LOVED IT! We'll go back for sure.

Smaller, more dive like, and more fun than i expected. The room the bar is in is approximately the size of my bedroom, but it just makes for an environment in which you easily meet your neighbor. They had Longhammer IPA in the honesty keg, and it was quite tastey. My sandwich was amazing, and it was fun walking around the neighborhood. It's a cool neighborhood spot, but I felt a little silly driving all the way over there. Hope to go back someday. not sure when.

I swear this place is in the middle of nowhere.....even though its freakin 5 min from my school...its like in a secluded part of castleberry hills. I went last Sunday because I was "pumped" about trying one of their famous sandwiches. There's ample parking because like I said there's nothing near the place. Everyone's observations are true...the place is very "quaint" but it does have a friendly vibe. I walked in and everyone was chillin watchin the game and having a few drinks. The bartender was really friendly and ask me what I would like to order. Of course I had browsed the menu online so I knew exactly what I wanted. I ordered the Mad Italian which has Maple Glazed Honey Coat Ham, Mortadella, Genoa Salami, and Cappy Brand Ham with Pesto mayonnaise, and topped with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, roasted peppers, Balsamic Vinegar, and Extra Virgin Olive Oil. (I know it sounds good......cuz it was). I took it home...unwrapped the sandwich and took a bite. It was sooooo tasty.....I wished I had a second one. The sandwich was 8.00 of goodness! I will definitely be back to the boonies aka Elliott's to get another Mad Italian! They supposedly have a really tasty homemade brownie also...but they were out of them when i went. Oh and they have free wifi!

Mike and Pete are two of the friendliest guys in Atlanta. If you aren't a regular, you will feel like one by the time you leave. I found the Pub through my visits every other Tuesday with the Atlanta Photographer's Guild but now whenever I am up in Atlanta, I am always sure to stop in for a Mad Italian and a mojito. A definite stop if you are in town!

I had a delightful lunch at the Elliott Street Pub on Saturday on a warm day with the doors open. My friend and I were there with Peter (an owner) and Bonnie (tending bar) for nearly two hours. This is the kind of small, intimate, and friendly bar that everyone dreams about. It's also secluded and completely hidden in the Castleberry district. It's hands down the smallest bar and deli I have ever been to - or would ever want to go to. I ordered a Mad Italian sandwich with ciabatta bread, pressed like a panini - it was one of the most flavorful sandwiches I've had in a long time. My friend was swooning and moaning over her sandwich as she rapidly devoured it with unabashed pleasure. I would have asked her to compare the sandwich's appeal and sensory stimulation with sex but I was too embarrassed. It was clearly a home run in terms of sandwich nirvana.

As far as pub's go this place is tops and the owners and folks who work here are as well! I go back and forth on my favorites, but love The Ultimate and pressed ham & cheese. If you're looking for a great place to kick back with a beer and a sandwich or a place to chill with friends after work it's easy-peasy :). There's no pretense here, which is really great. There are bikers, babes and Boars Head ;). Plenty of street parking tucked next to fire station #1. Make sure to check out the pics of the original building before Mike & Pete turned it into the awesome space it is today.

So, Mike and Pete have recently expanded the already awesome beverage selection, and they just rock as people. The pub has a great local atmosphere and Two Wheel Tuesday is a total plus. They also let that crazy camera club meet there on Tuesdays - it's crazy. Love, love, love Elliott Street Pub - it's a reason to go downtown.

Great spot for a sandwich, brew and good conversation. The owners, Mike and Pete were engaging and entertaining. Just a perfect neighborhood pub. And for those who have complained about it being hard to find, that was part of the charm to me.

  • Broderick S.

Yes, as good as it gets. I discovered this place through the Atlanta Photographers Guild. If this place was in my 'hood I'd be here 2-3 times a week easily. They mix great drinks, a great selection of beers, and bar food that makes you forget that you're in the bar. My hands down favorite is the Mad Italian sandwich on ciabatta bread. Mike grows his own herbs. Did I mention that this is a bar? Just go already :)

  • Frank L.

This is definitely a pub to visit. It will be in a good location someday, especially as the area cleans up and matures. Mike and Pete are great, fun guys to get to know. Downside (or upside depending how you look at it), the place is small, particularly around the bar. Hard to order and move when there is a crowd. Same for the patio area. The one thing you'd wish is more space, but that might take away from some of the appeal.

  • Robert M.

Love Mike and Pete they have a reat spot here. If you are looking for a sandwich this is the spot.

  • Maigh ..

Mike is the man behind the bar, a friendly face who - as others have said - will make it a point to know you if he doesn't already. The bar itself is cozy in a way that almost says "if you're not already a regular, you don't need to try to be". There are approximately a dozen seats around the bar, another dozen or so on the patio and otherwise you're on your own with standing room or the bench/pew by the front window. The drinks are as reliable and delicious as the Mad Italian (on chabatta with spinach and hot) and if you happen in at just the right time you might also be subjected to the shot of the day. I came to find Elliot St. b/c of the APG and I'm thankful for it. I love shooting here, eating here and yukkin' it up with Mike.

  • P R.

A tiny dive bar in every sense of the word, but with non-dive bar prices ($4-5 bottle beers and $8 sandwiches - just the sandwich, no sides like chips, fries, etc). Not so sure why others rate this place so highly, since I have been to other dives and my definition of a dive includes CHEAP prices.

    (2)
  • Sean C.

This is the best little dive bar that you've never heard of. The location is hard to find, the place is small, the beer is pricey, and the food is great! Pete and Johnny are the owners and are great. They know how to treat their patrons. If you're looking for a good sandwich and a place to have a good conversation, then this is your spot. Cool music, cool atmosphere. A couple tables outside makes for a great way to spend an afternoon with close friends. I've been in Atlanta for 8 years, and just discovered this gem. Try it out, but keep an eye on your tab if you're drinking anything other than light beer or generic liquor. $5.25 for a Newcastle. Min $15 order on Credit Cards.

We popped in unannounced and uninitiated after the Castleberry Hill Art Stroll (and before the unfortunate No Mas experience). It feels like an "up north" bar - tiny, cozy, lots of regulars that don't give you dirty looks for interloping on their turf, but instead invite you into the fold. I got my beers from the pay-by-the-honor-system keg o' Red Hook IPA, sat on a church pew and chatted with people in my group and it felt like home. Didn't eat, but after reading about the sammiches, I'll try it sooner rather than later. It's a bit out of the way for me, since I live in Decatur, but worth the trip based on my visit.

  • Scott C.

This little neighborhood pub is undoubtedly my favorite. It's a 4 minute walk out the front door of my building. There is no attitude, great food, great service and they know you. I was there twice this week. Thursday for dinner and a couple beers and Friday night for their monthly Iron Pour art events. The iron pour drew in about 150 people (not all inside, its a tiny place). The iron pour happens in the parking lot next to the building. They've done a great job mixing activities with food, beer and drinks. Everyone is welcome and they do a great job fostering relationships with those in and outside of Castelberry Hill.

Ya'll are crazy. I couldn't wait to get here after reading the reviews. But in the cold light of day it's quite appalling. Sandwich? I wouldn't even ask for a glass here, I drank my beer out of the bottle. The place hasn't been cleaned since 1963.

ESP rules. It's family run. Friendly to everyone, but especially those come back day after day. They name drinks after patrons. They serve beer on the honor system. The have Frank Zappa on the wall. They are dog friendly. The food is tasty and affordable, as are the drinks. This is the quintessential American pub.

My friends and I visited this place two years ago after recommendations on Yelp. That day happened to be their anniversary and we were invited to their cookout. My friends enjoyed the sandwiches very much and saw first-hand, Southern hospitality. I looked them again today since I will be in that area again. The place is definitely worth a second trip. Things I should mention, it is a dive bar with some seating on the side. We parked on the side of a street.

I am reluctantly giving the second star because people seemed to enjoy the food (which I did not try), and because the ambiance was nice. But beyond that, I was disappointed. First of all the location is HORRIBLE- I brought a map with me and I still had to improvise to get there. Getting home was even trickier, due to the vagaries of one-way streets in the area. I went through some really questionable areas trying to find my way to anyplace I knew and could navigate from. But my major peeve is the fact that the only draught beer was the honour-system keg mentioned in other reviews...granted, it was a tasty beer, and the idea is nice, as long as you know how to properly operate a tap so as not to get a cup full of foam (it's not difficult, but not intuitive either). My ire was inspired by the fact that instead of charging us the $3 per beer indicated on the pricing sign they just charged a $15 minimum, which translates into at least 5 beers...this is really not good, not only for the obvious reasons (and some of us felt slapped in the face about it especially since there is a tally-board next to the tap) but also because the majority of the clientele that night (me included) happened to be motorcyclists- and alcohol and motorcycles DO NOT mix! I hope that none of my fellow riders tried to get their $15 worth. For those who don't know, a motorcycle requires at least twice as much focus and attention to safely operate as a car, and a mistake in doing so has MUCH more immediate and severe results. Given the amount of liability faced by bars these days concerning the creation of drunk drivers, I think that the Elliott Street Pub needs to seriously re-think how they sell the draught beer, or at least do it a little more honestly and mention the $15 minimum on the pricing sign by the tap. The way they treated us about it was dishonest and we felt ripped-off, especially those of us who had fewer than 5 beers (which was pretty much all of us). This draught debacle left me with a sour aftertaste that will probably result in not wanting to return, despite having friends that like the place.

I live a block away from here, so I'm usually here a few times a week, and I still love it. The sandwiches are always AMAZING, and Jordan and Mike can make the most delicious cocktails ever. I also go there by myself quite often because my boyfriend is out of town a lot, and I always feel right at home and super comfy just chatting with whoever is there. So yes, great food, great atmosphere, great people. Oh! And they also have live jazz out in the street every Wednesday night, which is a fantastic good time, especially when the weather is nice. So go go go!!

A group of mine hosted a meet up here that went from 6 confirmed to a full-blown party in a matter of an hour. Most restaurants would flip out when your table of 6 suddenly needs to steal every table in a 12 mile radius just to host all the friends who decide to show up last minute, but not here. The bartenders were every bit as attentive and would alert us to opening seats at the bar (it was too cold and wet to sit at the tables outside - thank you Atlanta Januarys!). Sandwiches weren't entirely quick, but there was only one bartender working on both drinks and sandwich orders, and considering most sandwiches went on the hot press it was somewhat understandable. For all it's worth, the bartender/cook never forgot an order and was always able to match it back up to the face. For a dark bar late at night, I was shocked! Most restaurants can't even do that for two people during daylight hours, so kudos to that bartender! If you like beer, there's a pretty nice selection going on here. If you an honest person, there's a plastic cup with your name on it and a random keg in the corner. Just pay at the end for whatever you drank! Not feeling honest? Probably best to order from the bar, then, and spare yourself the drama with the cops. Good sandwiches, good beer selection, but super tiny with hard to find parking. Lunch may be different, but late at night this is a fun little spot to visit after a game or if you just happen to be in the area. Sure beats Taco Mac!

Elliott Street is great. Cool people, great food( Dirty Bird in Blue on Ciabatta.....yum!) and cool location. Its small, but thats what makes this place. It reminds me of an English pub or Cafe. There is always someone there with a dog, people sitting outside and its avery neighborly. Well worth the trek from any part of town!

Some of the best sandwiches in town. Madd Italian is my favorite to have along with the to-die-for Baked Potato Salad. If you go, tell Mike & Pete Big Dave sent ya.

WHY OH WHY ARE YOU NOT OPEN AFTER 2? Man that drives me crazy, only because i work nights, and i don't wake up early enough to get lunch, but can't wait around til it opens again because of work! I have been there a handful of times at night though, and i appreciate their greatly priced beer, and chillness. Although i really want to try their food, perhaps someday it will all work out

Wow. I mean, WOW. This place didn't look like much when we stopped in here for a bite, but the restaurant and its management impressed us with their warm attitude and DELICIOUS food. We had the French Dip, which was on special that day, and I'm telling you, I've never had a French Dip so lovingly prepared, where the flavors melded and melted in your mouth the moment you took that first bite. The bread was perfectly toasted, and was crisp on the outside, and warm and slightly soft on the inside, but wait! before you know it, you're tasting the roast beef, horseradish sauce and melted cheese explode in your mouth. Dipping it in the side of onion French Dip just made it better.

I have eaten here now twice, and wow, what a sandwich. Love everything about it, taste, size, presentation, etc. Could have bought chips or something, but didn't need it. The turkey slawwich friggin rocked! Just think smoked turkey, sweet coleslaw and cheese on ciabatta bread, pressed. Brought my girlfriend in for one on Tuesday and she also fell in love with it. Had a bit of the caprese sandwich and it too was awesome.

Yahtzee, I was invited by a friend last night I was shocked by how happening the west side is, all the goings on. I or should I say we liked it so much we decided to look into a loft space today, though a bit hung over and not ready to take the leap yet we are super interested and the area seems really up and coming a sorta meat packing district, sorta a Soho sorta Atlanta becoming a city! I am three years new to GA and me and my vintage Ducati will be at the Elliott on the reg.

This place is just excellent. Great sandwiches, great beer, great conversations. The sandwiches are a little pricey, but totally worth it. If you are a vegetarian, ask for one to be made without meat, you can add spinach, etc. Very accommodating!

"This is the place to have a sandwich". I have tried all of there sandwiches and I have enjoyed all of them. My favorite is the "Turkey Slawich". Hmmm!!! Don't forget to have the potato salad they call it "crack" because it is so addicting (duh). One of the few places to have a delicious sandwich and a beer.

This is the quintessential neighborhood pub. It's owned by a couple cool cats that apparently live in the apartment upstairs. It's tucked away near Castleberry Hill, it's almost hidden. It's in this really cool stand alone brick two story building from another era. It's super tiny, but it's just a great bar and a great place to go when you just want to get away from the "scene". It's not fancy, a little divey, but full of character. They have a limited menu that consists of deli sandwiches and salads. I've been there with a couple different friends and both have proclaimed that their sandwich was the best sandwich they had ever put into their mouth.

Elliott Street is my favorite pub in Atlanta. They also have the best sandwiches in town. Mike (the owner) is such a nice guy. Very personable.

The owner has to know this is coming but I'm the suit who just came in today for takeout but you forgot to include my $1.50 chips with my $8 sandwich! Even if you would have included the chips the food is way overpriced for the amount of food you get. And even though I asked for takeout and was waiting for a cab to take me back to my hotel while your chef seemed busy with the other 2 people in the entire place, you still asked me three times if I wanted a drink. I'm not sure if this place is hurting for money or what but it's too bad because despite that its in a sketchy neighborhood and as far as I can tell only accessible by car it looks like it would be fun to have drinks there. Albeit it's similar to all those hipster bars that are a dime a dozen in any city on the east coast it is a gem amongst well ... nothing as far as I could tell in Atlanta. I hope the recommendation to go to Gibney's isn't a bad one. Then I would have paid $10 and a $20 cab ride for absolutely nothing. At least I hope Gibney's won't forget to include the side with my food.

K . So I've been uber busy with my real job and have had to live sans yelping for about a week, but i've been wanting to write this stellar review of Elliot Street the whole time. Finally . Now I've only been here a few times (and $8 may seem a bit steep to a few penny pinching readers), but this place represents all that is true about "you get what you pay for" !! Great Service (not too busy for anybody and the right amount of small talk for a mood of whatever), all premium Boar's Head meats (even the weiners, cause life is too short to eat bad meat - George Clinton wrote "Bullshit thoughts rot your meat" ; well I think it goes both ways), awesome bread (I love the Ciabatta), Hot pressed sammys (is nice even outside of the bedroom), and those killer little touches like spinach on your sandwich, cause when it's hot pressed it doesn't get all slimy and make you think you're eating bad Kimchi in a Koren adventure gone wrong . . . And if I happen to be there - please make sure to ring the bell at the corner of the bar - I'll return the favor - I promise !!

I was just forcibly escorted out of Elliot Street Pub at 12:15am tonight. Ironically I used to live in this neighborhood 13 years prior. I was a guest of one of the local Atlanta Photography group meetings and I was sitting at the bar waiting for my friends to wrap up- admittedly they were running late, ALL 40 of them in a bar that seats 12 people since 7:30pm. I was drinking the honour system beer on tap which was so foamy I got less than half a cup of drinkable beer for $3. I had a sandwich at the bar- which was pretty good for a $8 sandwich wrapped in deli paper with no sides and heavy on the bread. I was pretty happy with the decor, even complimenting the owner Michael, when after ordering another beer ($4.50 after tip) while waiting and spending $5 on the jukebox he turned the sound off and told me they were closing and since I wasn't a local he didn't care and came around the bar and forcibly pushed me out of the bar onto the street. My friends were astounded at his behavior! As a married 39 year old with a child, I have NEVER been treated so poorly. Considering my friends and I spent about $100 for a few hours of relaxation, I don't think I will ever return. The sad truth, despite the overpriced sandwiches, the overpriced beer, and the horrible location, I was enjoying reminiscing about the neighborhood. Sadly, it hasn't come that far- go to "Six Feet Under" or "Tacqueria del Sol" instead, save yourself the trip, the expense, the theft, and the service for your hard earned dollar. Clearly the owners don't care.

About Taco Bell

Taco Bell is a haven for Mexican delicacies such as tacos, quesadillas, burritos, nachos, and other specialty items. Owned by Yum! Brands, Inc. Taco Bell is one of the fastest growing American chains of fast food restaurants. The restaurant operates from 7,072 different locations which are mostly run by independent franchisees and licensees.

The background story of Taco Bell is interesting and inspiring for budding entrepreneurs. The fast-food brand is the brainchild of Glen Bell, who started his first food venture as a hot dog seller in San Bernardino, California. The year was 1948. After witnessing long queues outside a Mexican restaurant called Mitla Café across the street, Bell saw the opportunity and demand for hard-shelled Tacos. He reverse-engineered the recipe and later started selling Tacos and called the venture Taco-Tia.

Later, the name changed from Taco-Tia to El Taco. Eventually, Glen Bell sold the company to his partner and opened the first Taco Bell in Downey in 1962. By 1964, the restaurant also got its first franchise in Torrance. The 100th Taco Bell restaurant was opened by 1965. PepsiCo acquired Taco Bell from Glen Bell in 1978 and the restaurant brand is currently a subsidiary of Yum! Brands which looks after the restaurant business of PepsiCo.
