We were the first patrons for lunch today. By the time we left, there were 3 or 4 other tables. Pros: Bangers and mash dish was good, and portion size was large, appropriate for $13. Service was friendly. Draught beer was cold, fresh, and reasonably priced. Cons: Service was slow. It seemed like the bartender was serving all the tables. While nothing really blew me away, I had a good experience here, and I'll try it again.

Great neighborhood bar. Unfortunately not my neighborhood. The bar is great to grab a small bite to eat, duck fat fries, Mac and cheese, smoked wings. Just be prepared to deal with some drunk locals and regulars that think they own the joint. Didn't give me any heartburn but I'm just sayin.

No matter how much I try, I just can't seem to make myself a big fan of the Elder Tree. Its a beautiful place and looks very nice, clean, and put-together. The food I've had has been alright, but nothing on the menu really excites me. I haven't much enjoyed the mixed drinks I've ordered, though they weren't terrible, but on the plus side I find the bartender to have a heavy pour. I feel their servers are still getting used to working there and getting a good system down - it can feel pretty unorganized and you can sometimes get overlooked. Overall I would recommend trying out Elder Tree, but y'all can go without me.

I have been to this pub 4 times since it opened 2 weeks ago, so I figured I should probably review it. (For the record, I live in East Atlanta so it is a convenient stop.) The space is absolutely stunning and I still can't believe they transformed the nasty Blue Frog. The space is non-smoking but non-kid friendly pub kind of way and it rocks! I used to smoke and some of my friends (and boyfriend) still do, but that doesn't mean I want to take a shower when I get home from a night out - which is the case if you go to most bars in EAV. For the smokers, there is a heated outside patio. The dark wood, ceiling tiles, and dark lighting make this place have a comfy feeling, but so does the amazing food. I'm a veggie friendly girl so this was important to me when ordering. ALL the sides (and there are 7 or 8) are vegetarian except the Winter Greens and all of them were great. You MUST try the Mac and Cheese - its exceptional. Also exceptional is the Irish Cheddar Dip with a mix of gooey quality cheese and creme fraiche served with toasties (yummy bread). Though I have never been to Ireland, my buddies who have were with me and they said the Chips and Curry are up to the standards of the chipperys in Ireland. For those of you who aren't familiar with this dish, its basically fries with a curry gravy type dipping sauce - yum. Vegetarians, you can order any sandwich they serve with a Veggie Burger Patty and I recommend the Aberdeen (Rye Bread, Irish Cheddar, House Made Coleslaw). Meat Eaters, the Cumberland Pie and Corned Beef dishes were among the favorites our times there. The Fish and Chips are good - but nothing super special, just quality Fish and Chips. The bartenders are awesome and know how to poor a Guinness - Greg and Danny are my favorites. And I found a new favorite beer - Weinerstephan. Its a hefferveisen with hints of banana and cinnamon (in my opinion and I'm no expert). I have a feeling that if they can keep the standards up, they will be a a staple in EAV and an asset to a community that's already amazing.

I live in the area and decided to check out the elder tree because there was a loaf deal. I was quite dissatisfied. The food took almost an hour and I had to send back the Irish beef stew because it tasted like they accidentally dumped the whole salt shaker in it. Then we finally got our meals and they were just ok. I got the warm spinach salmon salad and my friend the steak salad. Nothing special at all. The manager came out and offered us a free dessert, but we declined. So all in all, the server was really nice, the wait for food way too long, and the food not so great.

I stopped in at the Elder Tree Public House before heading over to Bound To Be Read Books for a poetry reading. We hit the bar. My girl friend had a beer, and I had two vodka cranberries. My drinks were strong; therefore, they were good. The bartender was pleasant. I'd stop in again for a cocktail.

Real authentic food. They cure their own rashers. Fantastic.

I recently ordered a burger from this place, but was not happy at all. The burger's bread was soggy and overly greasy, the burger itself was over salted. Literally, every bite tasted like salt. The fries were ok, but slightly soggy as well. Just an overall poor meal.

We went to The Elder Tree on a Sunday evening with another couple. There were not many people, other than at the bar, so we really got to experience the atmosphere. Yes, it is beautiful, clean, smoke free (the absolute best part since that's rare in EAV) and the servers were very friendly. It will be the go to spot for those of us in the neighborhood. We'll see how it holds up to the crowds on St. Patty's Day!!

The Cumberland Pie is delicious, well the food in general is amazing, as is the beer. It's a *great* place to go for sporting events and I have always been able to get a seat. The setting is perfect for an Irish pub and the service is very fast.

If only I had more than two thumbs... great atmosphere...great food... great staff. The Public House Breakfast is a fantastic "sampler" plate for any time of the day. The portion was enough for dinner and lunch the next day. Staff is super, super nice.

. First time was a late night with live music & a sparse crowd with one or two really drunk patrons. The night was okay, but honestly the only thing that made it okay was the musician who was very friendly & entertaining. The bartender was a little frazzled from a loud mouthed drunken patron yelling at her so the drinks were sub par. I can't blame her on that. I even bought her a shot to help calm her nerves. 2nd time here was during a packed Thursday night football game night. From that description one would think it would be slightly better. On the contrary, it was worse. There weren't nearly enough servers & it took our waitress over 20 minutes to get to us. No joke, it was nearly half time in the football game when she came & my party & I were there since the first snap. I also noticed it wasn't just our table. 2 other tables were complaining due the lack service. Poor service & poor management on having so few attentive servers on such a packed Thursday night. The waitress was in such a hurry she didn't even I.d members of my party before she served us drinks. After 20+ minutes we finally ordered & 10-15 minutes later our drinks came. Image eating a plate of salty fries with no drink. Good thing I wasn't THAT thirsty. Geez. I even had to get up and physically find my waitress to pay the tab for the table. I enjoy east Atlanta village very much & come here often to go to the bars and 'clubs' that they have. Unfortunately I will not be back to the Elder Tree & will not recommend it to anyone. As I type this on my phone I can overhear disgruntled patrons speaking of leaving & going elsewhere. You have been warned. Do not come here on a crowded night, please avoid unless you enjoy sub par service with sub par drinks.

Wow! We just ate at the new Elder Tree Public House in East Atlanta (where Blue Frog Cantina used to be) and it was delicious! They have pub food - sandwiches, burgers, fish and chips, salads, and also some nice entrees like salmon, hanger steak, lamb, etc. I combined a bunch of sides to make a veggie plate - green beans were cooked just right - still had a little crunch, as were the winter greens...I tried the colcannon (mashed potatoes w/cabbage) and it was great. And the mac and cheese was excellent - made with sharp Irish cheddar - yum!! My husband got the salmon on a bed of fried cabbage with a side of green peas (very fresh-tasting). Really, everything tasted very fresh and was cooked perfectly. The service was good too - our server was friendly and well-versed on the menu. And right now, there's no smoking inside, which was also really nice! The place is completely re-done - they rearranged the space and built a beautiful bar, added tin ceilings...still casual, but it looks really nice.

Incredible food and great atmostphere. As for the patron upset about no children, it is a pub. I wouldn't need a sign on the door to not take my children. Revised since the chef left. It is not the same.

The remodel is beautiful, and the food is decent. But the beer selection is very bland and the music is terrible. I've been 5 times, and every time they are playing hyper-aggressive punk and metal. There is no variety in the music and it is very hard to relax and enjoy your meal when someone constantly screaming at you. I won't be back.

Folllow-up. Went back for lunch and had the shepherd's pie - excellent and huge portion.

Elder Tree is a very strong average to me. After seeing the hella long line at Argosy, we went to Elder Tree, which is right across the street. It was a game night, so it was pretty loud and crowded. The menu is heavily Irish, as I'm sure you could guess. I decided to get their house burger. It really is the definition of a chain restaurant burger- perfectly round, lack of flavor, and almost dry. This does seem to be a good place to watch the game, due to the heavy amounts of huge TVs. They also have a pretty fair beer selection. Overall, I wouldn't make it a destination unless you're going to watch the game.

Ok, LOVE. My favorite Hefeweizen is on draft, what more could I want?! Oh wait, maybe some of that Irish cheddar cheese dip... Oh, and the fish and chips.. Ok, this place is incredible. Will absolutely continue to return, especially to watch various soccer (football) matches. Thanks, y'all!

  • Craig R.

Nice place with a good feel to it. The cheese dip app was so good i could have eaten out without the bead. The pork cheeks app was even better. That being said although the apps were good the dinners were not that great. I had the Cumberland pie and it felt and tasted like they used instant potatoes. The Irish coffee we ordered cake pot cold, like it had been in the pot since lunch. Would have been 1 or 2 stars of our were not for the delicious appetizers.

If you're looking for a soccer pub in Atlanta, this is the place to go. I was visiting from out of town and I'm so glad I picked this place. Lots of regulars (they all play soccer together on Sundays), so it turns out to be a great atmosphere for matches (free shots when your team scores a goal). Defiantly would go back again if I was in town for a match.

Came here recently with a friend that had been there before. Our bar tender was a very kind lady that had tons of awesome tattoos. She was really quick and attentive. I had a burger which was delicious and the fries were pretty tasty too. Prices were good and service was awesome.

I moved to GA two weeks ago and this is already my go-to place. Amazing service EVERY SINGLE TIME. Tonight was my first go at the food, and I'll just say one thing: Mmmmmm! We ordered the Irish Cheddar Dip as an app, and I think the main ingredient might be crack. It's so good, I could barely eat any of my entree. Speaking of the entree, awesome Guinness battered Fish n Chips! Huge portion. Delicious. Fresh, fluffy, flaky cod. Amazing fries. Being from NC, I am kind of judgmental about cole slaw and they nailed it. My boyfriend got the Trotter and he killed it in less than 5 minutes, so that tells me that it was no less than amazing. Two thumbs up to this establishment, and their more than attentive bartender, Toli.

We had planned to eat at another restaurant nearby, but that one was closed, so we ended up here for lunch. The vegetarian options are unimaginative, but at least they exist. I had the pimiento cheese sandwich with tomato, and my husband had a burger. My sandwich tasted good but was extremely rich; I felt a little queasy after eating it. The thick layer of pimiento cheese was a bit much. The fries, however, were excellent, and the service was good.

I have eaten there three times now.The best corned beef I've had in Atlanta. The food always comes out well prepared and with care. And its relatively easy on the wallet. But it is a soccer bar.And I hate soccer.but the food is way good enough I can tolerate the annoying fans.

Great place to grab a magner's and some brunch to watch EPL. This is my husband's and my new go-to spot. It's a welcoming atmosphere with friendly soccer-related banter.

Real English cider on tap, great servers, daily specials, friendly clientele. Menu is more authentic and tasty than any other British pub in the ATL. The wings are gigantic. Free parking in the rear or across the street. Worth a visit.

The food here is pretty decent. But they get an extra star for their legit Irish breakfast. So damn good. I love me some white pudding. Black... I'm still trying to acquire.

I love this place. I live in Alpharetta and make the drive often. Has a great soccer pub culture. They have team scarfs on the walls, tvs in great locations. They were set for the World Cup with the outside area as well as inside. The burgers and wings are fantastic and the prices are really hard to say no too.

My husband and I have been to The Elder Tree about ten times since the start of summer, with breaks between growing shorter. We came across it one Sunday when a restaurant we were seeking out a few doors down was closed. The draught beer selection was far better than most, and for $3 on Sunday you can't beat it! They are in the process of changing the bar menu and I'm curious to see what's next. Sadly, I don't think New Holland's 'Dragon's Milk' will be back. The food is always good. The Irish Cheddar Dip has been our appetizer of choice every visit, but we've tried the Smoked Salmon and Potato Cakes, Loaded Chips and Duck Fried Chips...they are all good, but the Dip is still our favorite! If we come around lunch our favorite sandwiches are The Cottager and The Trotter. At dinner Cumberland Pie, Corned Beef & Cabbage, Fish & Chips or Irish Stew is usually in order. A special served last weekend brings me out of the realm of Yelp Lurkers though. It was Smithwick's braised pork served with creamed leeks and spinach & apple slaw. The pork was tender and packed with flavor. The cream sauce was absolutely delicious. I ordered a side of toast to finish it off. The apple slaw was sweet and tart with a welcome crunch. It was almost painful to share a bite with the other 3 people at my table. I learned that there was a new-ish cook in the kitchen, and gave him the high five that the deserved. The other special that day was Prince Edward Island mussels in a bombadier sauce with Irish sausage pieces, a friend we brought with us ordered it and it was also really good. The 30 minute drive is more than worth it for a good hearty meal, and as the colder weather sets in I am sure we will be visiting more.

It is with a heavy heart that I write this review. I was so excited about Elder Tree when it first opened. The location is great- right in the heart of EAV- and the patio is ballin'. The bartenders and servers are friendly and the drink prices are A-ok. However, the service has declined drastically in the last few months. I had to walk out after sitting at a table for 30 minutes without anyone coming by to take even my drink order. The food is alright but nothing special. Irish-style food doesn't leave much room for vegetarian options and it is a bit greasy. If they can increase quality of service this place will be a solid 3-stars once more.

Can't beat $5 burger night on Wednesdays-- & it comes with fries! Irish Cheddar Dip is pretty amazing too along with their smoked wings. We generally sit at the bar where we receive more attentive service (unless we have our 11 year old with us). Toli, bartender, is great!!

We've been going to The Elder Tree regularly since it opened a few years back, and we have always enjoyed the food. Unfortunately it has really gone downhill from a diner's standpoint. Somehow, this place has become the rowdiest bar in EAV. Friends of the staff take up half the bar, grope the waitresses, and throw things at the bartenders. And that's not even on days where soccer is on TV. This past weekend, a group of rowdy fans were asked to go outside because they simply couldn't control themselves. Try it...if eating in a mosh pit is on your bucket list.

I eat at Elder Tree on $5 burger night A LOT. For me, $5 burger night is more about spending time with my "framily" than experiencing an amazing meal. The Gunner and Red Devil burgers are both just fine; I can't stomach the Spur lamb burger; I suggest you stick with the Rover veggie burger, topped with chow-chow. The sides are pretty decent: the mac-n-cheese is as fatty Sunday potluck as it gets, and the farm salad is super tasty, interspersed with hard-boiled egg and peas. THE BUMMER: the water consistently tastes like donuts. Upon surveying my friends, 100% of my sample group agrees. Perhaps the water filter is a hand-me-down from Krispy Kreme? I've notified several waitresses of this issue (yes, it's a problem when your water tastes like Hot 'n' Ready glaze), and none seem to care. Last night our waitress said, "Yum, I'm craving donuts! I'm going to chug some of that!" Is the Elder Tree a portal to the Twilight Zone? Is the water not water but melted donut glaze instead? Is this why I feel like my blood has transformed to simple syrup for 12 hours+ after eating there? PRO TIP: Bring your own water.

Awesome spot in the EAV best pub grub in the area. Spot is super chill and kid friendly. Darts are epic here and the soccer vibe is awesome. No need for beer list here just shut up and drink a Guinness.

How have I not written a review on Elder Tree? Their food is AMAZING! I haven't had anything there that I wouldn't give 5 stars, and my best friend is like seriously considering marrying their pork chop special. My husband is a little jealous of my relationship with the cheese dip there as well. Seasider and Aberdeen are two delicious & cost friendly options as well. The tap water does taste funny there for sure, but I mean, it's a bar, so I'm probably not drinking water.

My husband and I stopped don't venture out often but I'm glad we did tonight! We've found a new favorite place. The food was delicious. Our waitress (Kim) was friendly and helpful. She suggested the Irish Cheddar dip - and it was wonderful. In fact, our sandwiches (cottager and Aberdeen) couldn't have been better! I was full so I took a slice of praline pumpkin cheesecake home. I'll try that for breakfast. We'll be back. The food is perfect, the beer choices are good - but for us finding out that they offer English and Euro football was the best thing about the evening.

We started going to this place for The World Cup 2014. It was fun, but packed. During non-cup hours, we started to realize what a great meeting spot it is for us. It's snuggled at the top of East Atlanta just after existing the interstate ... very convenient. The food is crazy good. My favorite is the lamb burger! If I could find anything to complain about, it would be the music gets a little too loud at times and I can't hear my friends. Other than that, I recommend it.

I went to Elder Tree recently with a friend of mine and had a really good time. Our waitress didn't know a ton about the menu or the beers, but she was very friendly and was willing to find out the answers to any of our questions. I had the Irish Breakfast for dinner, which was incredible, a huge plate and the black & white "puddings" which are basically different sausages apparently were delicious. Relaxed atmosphere on an almost packed night that my friend and I went and it looked like a good place to watch a game. I will definitely return and update my review.

I had a couple of hours before my return flight back to Cali. Great place. It was renovated restaurant about 2 years ago. Just like the neighborhood it is one that is being retro'd and has a great feel to it. The restaurant itself seems like a long standing British/Irish pub. Food was fantastic. I actually had a salad with chicken but the shepards pie looked fantastic. Bar keep was very friendly and quick on the service. Well drinks are $4 and they use the higher than usual brands to stock their well. Good vibe, great food and service. KennyB from Cali.

There is a reason this place has a very good dinner crowd almost every night of the week. The food is consistently excellent. You can order the same thing time and again (which I frequently do) and you won't have a bad night. The brunch menu is also good and bonus - they open at 11am so you don't have to have your brunch for lunch (a pet peeve of mine). I'm here all the time because (in no particular order) - I live in the neighborhood - it's non-smoking - the food is excellent - the bartenders all ROCK - karaoke on Thursday nights! - I can watch my Boston Bruins play on at least one of the multiple TV's they have - I always see someone I know, or meet someone new that I should know (the place has a super friendly vibe) Friends joke that I should have a nameplate on a booth here, but when you find someplace where you never have a bad time, why not make that your go-to place?

I got charged for shots that the bartender gave to my buddy and me! Had a drink there last night (a Saturday night). Got there at 10 and it was pretty dead. 5 patrons, but we sat at the bar and chatted up the friendly bartender. Ordered beers and the bartender said, "Let me get you guys some shots," which was a nice gesture. She poured one for herself, too, and drank with us. When the bill came she had charged us for the shots! And the bill wasn't itemized, so I'm not sure what the shots were (some Irish whiskey, I think). For all I know, she charged us for her shot, too. POOR FORM! The space is very cool. Bartender was nice until that nonsense. I didn't want to cause a scene (the place had actually started to fill up by the time we left). But I'm not going back.

Had to come check out the new Irish Pub in the Village, and the renovation, food, and beer did not disappoint. The BF and I decided to head to Elder Tree for a post dinner drink and snack. Walking in, you would never know you're in the old Blue Frog Cantina...this place looks great (the nicest bar in the Village)! Dark wood, metal ceiling tiles, and a big wrap around bar are all new updates to this space, and it is a completely different than any of the other places in EAV . We were quickly seated by the host when we arrived, and a friendly waitress introduced herself at our tall bar table and went over the beers on draft (they didn't have a beer list, but I'm not complaining -- they had only been open 2 days). I ordered a snakebite and the BF got a Bass. The menu consists of Irish choices, and I can't wait to go back and try some of the main courses. Since we had already eaten dinner, we opted for an appetizer, The Duck Fat Chips with Curry. These were delicious crispy fries that were still soft in the center - just how I like them! They came out with a curry dipping sauce, which was also good, but I'm not the biggest fan of curry so I mostly stuck to plain chips with vinegar (which is on the table). There are several large TVs for sports (word on the street is this place is going to show soccer games - for all you football hooligans out there), dart boards in the back, and best of all -- the bar is NON-smoking (but they do have a heated front patio for the smokers out there). Overall, this is a great addition to EAV, and I hope it continues to be a great place to have a drink and dinner.

Great spot to catch a game, meet up with friends or/and grab a Guinness. Everything on the menu is pretty good but the Pig wings and Aberdeen Sandwich take the cake.

We recently went here on a Saturday night after Thanksgiving, and it wasn't super packed. After we ordered our food, I went to the bathroom, came back, and our food was at the table. That was the fastest service ever. I got the fish and chips. The fish was so/so, but the fries were pretty great. Our server was really polite, and I heard at least 2 Queen songs while I was eating. I would definitely go here again.

Indeed a nice looking space. I particularly like the row of booths, although seat cushions would be nice. For this first time visit, I sat at the bar on a nicely cushioned seat. The draft list is not enormous nor is it inspired, in my opinion. Offering a few more of the better American craft beers would help. I settled on Dundee Brown as I'd never heard of it. Not bad. Later learned it was a Genessee product, which is fine. Lots of good food options for a carnivore. I worried that my vegetarian wife was going to be disappointed in her choices, but like another reviewer (Sara?), she quickly discovered the sides list and was told the winter greens were the only non-veg item. For myself, I love fish & chips. I know it's a bit boring but I like to try out each new place's version before moving on to other selections (if I come back). Verdict: eh. The fish itself was good quality but the tempura batter was a bit soggy and the tartar sauce seemed like mayonnaise. The pieces were also not sized well for dipping - I resorted to cutting them up with a fork, which takes away from the sensory experience. The cole slaw was completely bland. Service good, and it improved when my two female dining companions showed up. Make of that what you will. Probably more a comment on my own personality. ;)

A nice little addition to the EAV. Irish bar, sports, not douchey. The Elder Tree came on my radar when I read about $5 burger/fries Wednesday. Plain and simple, every Wednesday they have $5 burger and fries all day. Why would I got to one of the fast food places around the corner. They also do $1.50 PBR Tallboys. So for $6.50 I get a burger, fries and tallboy? That right there is my Happy Meal. The Elder Tree does run sports on multiple TV's, they have darts etc. They have a sports loving crowd, but they aren't annoying. They have a nice selection of booze, nice whiskey, good bartenders. But perhaps they cherry on top is the no smoking inside policy, which I love! As long as they keep doing what they're currently doing I'll keep going back.

It's a pretty nice local bar. The staff is very friendly. There were not many people, so made it feel really intimate. Interior was pretty cool, feels like you are abroad. I've heard that wings are fire. They also have darts, some alternative entertainment :)

Probably one of the better kept secrets in East Atlanta Village. The menu is always changing, the food is fresh, unique and great, the staff is friendly, and I really had one of the best burgers I've ever had there. The duck fat fries are tasty but could be cooked more. Love the fish and chips. Great beer selection too.

Absolutely great burgers! I like the Red Devil burger (add bacon). The smoked wings are great too. The bar is a good environment to hang out with friends, and isn't overly noisy like other places nearby.

My first time in here and the service is great, love the laidback atmosphere and music. I had the seasider sammich... delish! Dylan is an attentive bartender and thankfully lacks the pretentious attitude some of the EAV restaurants can have.very reasonable prices.I well be coming back on Wednesday for their $5 burgers and fries.

Let me start by stating the obvious: BLTs are a work of culinary genius. Bacon + mayo - guilt (because you have L and T = healthy) between slices of toasted bread. If anyone doesn't like BLTs, they shouldn't talk to me because I do not acknowledge the existence of BLT haters. Elder Tree made the Barry Bonds of BLTs by adding a thick, juicy slab of pork to the already generous portion of bacon in the sandwich. The pig that contributed said porky meatiness had clearly taken growth hormones. Sure Elder Tree seems to cater to its patrons more as a bar, but the food menu goes above and beyond normal pub food to include things like this BLT and some typical Irish items. As for beverages, they seem to have a sufficient menu, albeit quite limited with beers, and I was pleased to see a ginger beer and whiskey cocktail. Still, the one the boyfriend makes tastes much better. This is definitely one of the nicer -- possibly *the* nicest -- restaurants in EAV. It's clean, new, and non-smoking...which is a huge difference from neighboring bars...plus it has a good menu and decent enough drinks. The service really knocked this place out of the park, as any steroid-enhanced pig would, as our waiter was so friendly and engaging that another waitress joined in on the conversation, and both ended up coming back to check on how we were doing!

Just got back from our 5th visit to Elder Tree. Now, I know what you're thinking - 5 times visited, but you still have the nerve to give it 2 stars?!? What? Well, this time was the nail in the coffin. We sat at the bar for brunch, and the service sucked, the food sucked, it just all sucked. We waited forever to order (drinks at the not-at-all crowded bar), then waited to order food, then waited forever to get our food, were never asked if everything was ok or if we needed anything (which we did...napkins and silverware, ahem.). We waited again for drink refills and by that point, we were so fed up we just asked for the check and bolted as soon as possible. We are usually super generous tippers, but we had to knock some off for the bar service on this one. We haven't been back since, and probably won't. Two stars since not all experiences were terrible, but more often than not, it's been "meh" or worse.

This may be my favorite bar in EAV now. Why? Because it's non-smoking! An extra star for that. Non-smoking aside, I am a fan of Elder Tree. I love the spacious bar and comfortable stools sprinkled with over-sized booths lining the wall and a few high top tables. The atmosphere is nice with the tin tiled ceiling and dark wood. Two large TV screens make viewing available to everyone no matter where seated. The bartenders are great! Every time I have stopped in, I am greeted promptly and service has been stellar. I've only had drinks here and not food so can't comment on that but will update soon. Once I try the food, it hope it becomes a five star review. Welcome to EAV, Elder Tree!

I would call this more of a half-review on my part. But my half-impression of the place is pretty great! I came up here for a few drinks after work one night, sat and the bar and chatted with some people. Friendly bartenders, great priced drinks, and a nice atmosphere. It feels nice and cool, and I like the dark atmosphere of the place. I will check out Elder Tree again and grab something to eat.

Went for a friends birthday party and I was impressed with the food spread. Shepherds / Cumberland Pie, Cheese Fondue, and Corned beef w/ cabbage were all fantastic. There was also something that tasted like (and looked like) fried pork tenderloin nuggets / pork tenderloin bites; odd but also also pretty good. Hard to believe this was once Blue Frog Cantina ( I will miss Monday and Tuesday Taco Nights). I heard this place changed over back in February (same ownership / management). This place underwent a complete makeover from Mexican Cantina to Irish Pub. The bathroom situation / remodel is indeed a huge improvement over the old Blue Frog Cantina restroom. I am a fan and will likely return often.

Great place to hang for "adult night" or with kids. (At a reasonable hour.) Good food, good drinks, good service, and a *full* pour!

Just want to start by saying, BY FAR the best place to drink/eat at in East Atlanta Village. I found this place not to long ago and was blown away with the drink prices!! You do NOT find drinks priced like this, $2.50 PBR/HighLife tall boys... $3 mix drinks and $3.50 drafts (all drafts are $3.50 on Sunday ) the drink prices alone are worth making this place a regular visit. 420 at $3.50 Seriously!! The food has been GREAT every meal, the stew was spot on and Wednesdays is $5 Burger n Fries !! There is always a good special for lunch and dinner. I've never waiting more than 15 minutes on my food from time of order. I've eaten here with friends and they all love the food!! GREAT SERVICE! The place is kind of small but the staff is on top of it. I've only sat at the bar which is HUGE and nice. The bartenders are super friendly and love hooking you up. I don't see the "bad" service and "long wait time" that people are talking about. This place is a new hot spot and I would suggest getting there and trying it yourself!! Over all for East Atlanta Village, if your wanting to avoid a dirty or dive bar you can not find a better place!! Across the street from the Earl and my personal thoughts, The Elder Tree holds the title as the Best spot in EAV, even beating the Earl and Graveyard hands down. The pub is CLEAN, bathrooms are CLEAN, you get draft out of glasses and not plastic, bartenders are happy and eager to pour you a drink and there is parking in the back!! If your a smoker there is smoking on the front patio !! This is my place.

Liked the corned beef and cabbage a lot. (And I pretty much disliked the food I had in Ireland which I found all bland; needed to put salt and pepper on everything.) Seems like a decent sports bar although I didn't come for a game.

Wasn't that impressed with Elder Tree when they first opened, and really didn't have plans to return but ended up attending a surprise get-together for a friend there last night. They were super accommodating; I neglected to get our server's name but she was really great. I only had drinks but some friends got food and seemed to enjoy it. I don't like sports bars at all, but from time to time I'm interested in watching a game in a bar; Elder House is really great for that with several tvs including one humongous screen on the wall. A good time in a laid-back atmosphere. Nice addition to the EAV.

Elder tree is ok, but I'm removing them from my Facebook likes because they constantly advertise certain football (soccer) matches they so not show. " come to elder tree for x match tonight" and As we roll in on time for the match, they're tuned to something totally different. Just doesn't work and not worth it anymore to request slow dude to consider tuning one of the monitors to advertised channel. Both times we have just left and walked to midway. As for the food, it's pretty good. Service can be slow and sometimes neglect you even if you're at bar, but a two to three star place. I hope they get things running properly with food , service and they're advertising.

Hands down the best burger in ATL. Pork wings are ridiculous. This place is a little bit of a drive for me, but I make it down there every week for either Trivia Tuesdays or burger Wednesdays. Seriously though, burger, burger, burger.

My first visit to this place was during the walk to you crawl 5k and pub crawl a few weeks ago. The third stop on the tour after a nice run and I was hungry. I started off at the bar for a drink and enjoyed the decor, it was dark wood, tin ceiling, cool, laid back atmosphere. The staff was friendly and quick, so I decided to grab a table outside on the sidewalk and order a little brunch. The breakfast sandwich I ordered was amazing. Fluffy egg, two large pieces of sausage, the home fries were crispy, just a home run. The Bloody Mary was very good and although I had to eat and crawl, I will definitely be back and I will update the review with a little more detail, but a great addition to The Village.

We went to Elder Tree on a Friday night, and it was great. We will certainly be back. Our server, Keenan, was very attentive but not obnoxious and all up in our business. My dining partner ordered the Fish & Chips, and I ordered the Cumberland Pie. Both dishes were really great, on-the-same-level-as-one-of-our-grandmothers'-cooking kind of satisfying. We also ordered the Irish Car Bomb Cake, which was really nice. The Guinness flavor was noticeable in the cake, not cooked out like I have tasted elsewhere. The frosting was more subtle but went swimmingly with the dense, moist cake. It is worth the note that the beers we ordered were the freshest, most authentic-tasting beers we've had in ages. Smithwick's is my favorite beer, and Elder tree had the best Smithwick's pour I've had since living stateside. Like I said, we'll definitely be back. Soon.

Great addition to the Village. Got the cumberland pie - which is basically a shepherd's pie. Really good - on point with the Marley - if not better. My wife got the corn beef and cabbage - which was also very good. Service was great - especially for first week. My only criticism is the beer list is a little generic. Would like to see some nice micro brews - esp. IPA's - Stone, Bells etc... came back for the $7 fish and chips special - needs some work - the batter is not crispy like it should be. I will stick to the lamb dishes as they are all great.

I love this place. I've not been moved to write a review in a while but I must take a moment to give proper acknowledgement. This has become my go-to in the village for dinner as it is hardly ever too loud or crowded. The interior is dark and cozy. The service has always been outstanding in my experience. And every meal has been better than expected. I thoroughly enjoy the way they prepare steak. Whether it's in a dish or alone. The fish and chips are great. The stew is amazing, hearty and thick. I absolutely love the duck fries with curry. I also recommend the crab cakes and anything that they make with pork. I've heard great things about their bangers but have yet to try them myself. Overall with good prices in drinks and lots of menu items left to try, you'll likely see me here weekly.

Wowie, they really turned that place around from when it was Blue Frog. I was bummed that Blue Frog closed because that's where my friends and I played trivia - however, one look inside the Elder Tree and I changed my tune. Not only is this place good lookin' it also has GREAT food and Magner's on draft. I suggest the duck fries and curry dip.

I enjoyed my initial visit here, but I'm reserving a star for further investigation. Plus, I've been feeling guilty about giving bars and dives the same 4-star reviews I'd give a fine-dining joint. This place is a nice addition to the neighborhood. East Atlanta has a nice concentration of bars, allowing for a bar crawl that could rival the highlands. With its sleek bar and dark wood, this place zags away from the zigging dive bars in the rest of the neighborhood. It adds some nice variety. I wasn't that impressed with the beer or whiskey list, but maybe that will improve. They have an adequate selection, but it seems like they could do better as EAV's standard bearer for a classy UK-style pub.

The atmosphere and service are stellar. Believe the other reviews when they say the Irish Cheddar dip is phenomenal. I had the Cumberland Pie and the serving size was big enough that I had the leftovers today for lunch. I swear to Bob that it got magically better overnight. Will definitely be back!

Dear Sweet Irish Catholic Jesus and Mary, BEST FISH N CHIPS I've had in Atlanta. And neener neener neener they are in my hood. Other food is good too. But, I'm a fish n chips snob.

It's unbelievable that this place used to be blue frog cantina. I love the laid back pub atmosphere and that it is non smoking. The beer selection is fantastic. The service is great. The cheese fondue is ridiculous. The cheese fondue deserves 5 stars.

I like the ambiance here, but every time I have been here on a weeknight it has been packed and difficult to get around. It is a little dark at night too, and could use some more lighting. However, the food is good and there are not a lot of Irish spots in Atlanta to go too, so this place is a welcome addition.

One star for a nonsmoking bar in the EAV. The other star is for the ambiance and the service. As a vegetarian the only real food is the curry fries...which are okay. The beer selection isn't good if you're a beer geek, but if you want some of the Black Stuff they have it.

Just another boring Irish Pub, this one right smack in the middle of EAV.

They offer Kilkenny on tap. Need I say more?! Well if you don't like Kilkenny there are plenty of other beers on tap and bottles to choose from. I have been here a half dozen times now and always am waited on by prompt and friendly staff. I love the fact it is a non-smoking place too. It's a great place to unwind or play some darts. I will be back.

Lots of perks to this place...it's a clean, fresh smelling bar in EAV for starters :-) Padded bar stools...super cozy and yes, this is very important. Awesomely official looking dart board corner. Very friendly service and from my experience a good crowd. My gin/soda was the cheapest one I've found recently so I assume all their drink prices to be fair as well. Didn't eat on this trip, but the atmosphere and service will certainly bring me back. Oh, and the darts.

The entire place is redone top to bottom. Very nice and clean and has a great feel to it. I hope they are successful in East Atlanta Village.

The only thing that kept me from giving 5 stars was the service. As someone in the restaurant industry myself, I was disappointed to find that the server was completely unenthusiastic and nonchalant. I found this annoying considering the place only opened a few weeks ago. Other than that, I absolutely LOVE the atmosphere and the food was excellent. The ploughmans platter is the prefect thing for someone who's in a snacking mood, with its awesome breads, cheeses, house made pickles, and onion spread. Definitely one of my new hangout spots. I really feel like this place is exactly what East Atlanta needs!

Three stars for the food, plus one for the service. The food here is what I would consider A-OK. The standout being the fish & chips which are pretty much amazing. The other items we have had were tasty, but nothing that I would call especially memorable. We've been here several times now, on different nights of the week, for dine-in and take-out, and the service has been consistently competent. Which, for EAV, is just shy of a God's-honest miracle. So, I'm giving it an extra star just for that.

This is our new favorite place to eat in East Atlanta! The food and service have been consistently great. It's also very nice to have a nonsmoking option in the Village, that is one of the biggest reasons we go there over other options. The remodel is beautiful and the bathrooms are always spotless which is very rare at other bars in the area. I just tried brunch for the first time yesterday, and I can't wait to get back to try the other brunch options.
