Went recently around 9pm. As my party walked in we were ignored at the door for about three minutes (there were employees watching us- engaging in their own conversations). We sat down and ordered Texas margaritas - the margarita seemed like it was just mix and tequila with no fresh lime. Being that I went for a good margarita this was slightly disappointing. The server was friendly and her service was good, she spoke to us in Spanish. Our food came out fairly quickly and was okay, not good but not bad either. Steak was alright. Seasoning was light. The salsa was spicy which I enjoyed. I eat authentic mexican food regularly so the food was slightly disappointing. The experience was overall 'blah'. I wouldn't make it in my first 5 choices to go back but if it was my only option I would eat there.

Several of the staff members are rude. They often tell you different times of what time they close other than the time posted. There is one waiter in particular that is ignores and condescending to women, but buddy buddy with any men. The last time I went, it was posted that they closed at 10 and it was 9:30 when I walked in and joined a group that was already there. The waiter ignored me, never asking if I wanted anything. I finally flagged him down and he told me he wouldn't serve me because they were closed. He wouldn't even bring me a water. The group I was with had just gotten their food. It was a ridiculous situation.

Bad service This was my second visit here. The food was OK, not great, in my first visit. Went there again since they close later than other restaurants in the area. Walked in around 9.30pm for dinner. Requested to be seated at a booth as I was experiencing some back pain and the bar chairs weren't comfortable. I was told that the booth section was closed even though I could see 3 tables occupied ( so maybe they had just closed the section). I walked out. No attempt to offer any other option and keep me as a customer. Won't be going back.

This was our go to place for all Mexican food, before we discovered La Botana and El Tarerro. The food is good and the portions are huge.

This is one of our favorite mex places in Dunwoody, great service and good food and even better drinks.

The guy on the phone, to make a to-go order was rude. He made me feel like he was gonna spit in my food. He talked to me with such an attitude. Just because u aren't talking to me disrespectfully, I can still hear the disrespect in your voice. Didn't eat the food, didn't want the guy to spit in my food.

We eat at this location fairly often - tonight we had a party of seven and a $140 bill. When we sat down somebody came over and offered us a coupon for a free cheese dip. We ordered two cheese dips, two guacs and a beef and cheese dip plus entrees for everyone Then a restaurant employee came over to our table and said she understood we had a coupon. We said yes and she informed us they wouldn't accept it, I asked why and she said because it was from another table and oh by the way she had to take it as well. It was an awkward moment while my father had to find this coupon in his pocket and surrender it to the waitress. Seriously, it's worth making a scene in front of my out of town guests over a free bowl of cheese dip? Would it have been so tragic to just give us a bowl of cheese dip?

Great chips and salsa (good texture, not too runny or chunky, and just the right amount of kick for a heat wimp like me). Was probably half full on a Tuesday night and wasn't even that loud despite the number of toddlers present. I got two fish tacos a la carte for six bucks. They came with a red and green salsa blend (YUM) and were kind of spicy but I didn't care because they were so good and the dairy in it muted the heat a bit. Fast service, water was consistently refilled, they take AMEX, solid joint overall!

This place doesn't have good service. It took an hour to get our food. When the hostess dropped the salsa on the floor the salsa splashed on my blouse and on my stepdaughter's dress. they were slow to respond and apologize. I asked for the manager who never came. After we waited about an hour to get our food, that's when the waiter apologized. Theres no genuine concern for the customer. We weren't the only ones that were waited this long. I had come to this restaurant four years ago, now I remember why I never came back. By the way, the food is not good.. came back cold.. and to top it all, they ran out of rice. We couldn't even have one of the main side dishes I do not recommend this restaurant. Go to a Mexican place that has better service and food. This one does not.

It's hard to screw up Mexican food and they don't, the food is fairly standard. Nothing in particular stands out as good or bad in that regard. The service is definitely lacking. Our server was plenty nice and was doing the best she could, but she was very busy with no help. That doesn't mean there weren't plenty of folks to help, it's just no one else would. Many people standing around seemingly with nothing to do. Meh, we'll come back because it's close but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here.

As a vegetarian, the top things I look for at a Mexican restaurant are: delicious chips and salsa, refried beans that are smooth and don't leave you feeling heavy or gassy, and a well balanced guacamole. This restaurant excels in all of these foods. As for entrees, I've always enjoyed their quesadillas, enchiladas, burritos, and taco salads. On top of that, the service is usually quick and attentive, the ambiance is nice, and the location is great if you are anywhere near downtown Dunwoody. I would be a regular here if I lived in the area.

El Azteca has three locations in metro Atlanta: Buckhead, Alpharetta, and Dunwoody. I've visited the Buckhead location a few times and am generally a fan. My feelings for this Dunwoody location are about the same except the atmosphere is drastically different at night. The Buckhead location always seems hopping. On my Wednesday night dinner in Dunwoody, there were maybe two or three other tables. It was eerily dead. The good news is the food was good (and that was my main concern when we stepped inside). El Azteca is a bit nicer than your typical local Mexican joint. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, TVs, and large, comfy booths. The menu is pretty standard of a Mexican restaurant: tacos, burritos, enchiladas, tostadas, chalupas, chile rellenos, tamales, soups, salads, and specials like seafood (shrimp, scallops, tilapia). Most of their dinner combos run between $10.50 and $11.50 each. You can also create your own combos. Lunch specials are $2-3 cheaper. The portion sizes are generous to be prepared to take leftovers home. One of my favorite items to get at any Mexican restaurant are the fajitas. At El Azteca, fajitas for one are $13.50 and for two are $22.95. The fajitas come with any combination (your choice) of steak, shrimp, and chicken with grilled onions and green bell pepper. The aforementioned ingredients are served still sizzling on a black iron skillet along with an additional plate of shredded lettuce, guacamole, sour cream, pico de gallo, Mexican rice, red beans, and three soft flour tortillas. I thought the fajitas here were pretty good. The serving "for one" was definitely enough for two (though you'll probably have to ask for extra tortillas). I'm allergic to shrimp so I only ordered the fajitas with steak and chicken. Not surprisingly, there seemed to be more steak than chicken served. Both meats were of good quality, cut into thick chunks, and tender and flavorful. The steak, presumably skirt, was chewy, but still not bad. The plate of veggies was fresh and crisp. The chips and salsa weren't bad either. The salsa was a little on the spicy side. I recommend ordering an extra side of guac. Our server was James and he did a marvelous job taking care of our table. He was attentive and polite. If you're in Dunwoody and looking for a casual Mexican eatery with comforting food, El Azteca should fit the bill.

We went there spontaneously without knowing the place since the one we wanted to go to was already closed. You get solid Mexican food for a reasonable price. The plates are large and everything is fresh. Service was good as well. The Margaritas were the bomb and if it wasn't so far away from where I live I would go there again.

Food was really good, ambiance is interesting and service was a lot better than what other people must have experienced based on their reviews. Cheese dip is a little runny but delicious. We will definitely be back.

Could have been my choices but food was not very good - watery guacamole - black beans and rice were barely warm - carnitas tacos so so - waitress was sweet and efficient however it took over 45 minutes to get food at lunch

Tops in the most awful service ever received. Food tasted fine, but it was a comedy of errors and being ignored in the server department. Never again, even if free.

I read the reviews prior to going in, after dining there, I couldn't figure out why there were so many bad reviews of this place. We walked in, and we were seated almost immediately. We decided to come by for lunch since we had coupons that we bought to support Dunwoody High School, and our waiter was VERY attentive and nice. He cracked jokes with us the entire time, and constantly made sure our water and sweet teas were filled to the brim. We had a coupon for buy one combo get one, so we just got two number 14's which consisted of one burrito, one enchilada, and one tamale. All were very yummy, but it lacked the "authentic" taste that I seek when eating Mexican. It's not a big deal to me however since it was still yummy. We also ordered a bowl of guac to eat with the chips and the fiesta del mar, which apparently, was DELICIOUS. I would definitely recommend that dish. That plate was wiped CLEAN. It also comes with soup :] Our waiter brought us an extra basket of chips without us even asking, and was constantly checking up on us. Maybe I was just lucky, but service was not an issue.. at all.. for us! If anything, the service made us enjoy our food even more. We have roughly 3 more coupons for this place so we WILL be back! :]

Terrible service and terrible food. First of all, they charged me $7 for a "Mexican Guacamole" when I had ordered a $4.50 Guacamole. Not sure what the difference is, but when I told the waiter I wanted guac and pointed to it on the menu, I wanted to clarify that it was freshly made guacamole. He said, "Oh yes. It's fresh, the Mexican Guacamole." So I thought that was the same thing that I was referring to. It was good alright, but when I got the check I realized it was $7. I guess the regular guac is NOT FRESH. We also used Scoutmob coupon for either $8 off lunch or $10 off dinner. We were there for dinner and when we got the check, they only took $8 off. When I asked the guy why it was not $10 off since it was 7pm, he said "You need to order a minimum total to get $10 off." I replied, "No, that's not what it says on the Scoutmob. It only says '$8 off for lunch or $10 off for dinner.'" Then he tried to cover it up by calling his co-worker over and saying, "She wants to know why you only took $8 off." That guy pretty much looked confused and so our server resorted to "Ok ok, we'll take care of it." Never again. Hate places like these. Oh and by the way, the fish tacos I had were terrible. The "salsa verde" that it came with was bitter and looked like it was made by a 4-year-old. The "cole slaw" looked really limp and had too much mayo and water in it.

This place has pretty decent Mexican food; however it seems slightly more expensive than Los Rancheros down the road which has similar food. They have a few new margaritas, one of which is their organic margarita, and was very delicious. It was the perfect amount of sweet to sour taste. They have a pretty wide selection on their a la carte menu if none of their combinations sound good. I would recommend dining here if you like margaritas and are ok paying a few more dollars for the food.

Nestled in Dunwoody Village, it's in the back part of the loop. If you can ignore the rude service, the food is decent - not the best. FOOD: The complimentary chips and salsa were ok. The chips were thick and the salsa was spicy. I got Shrimp Tacos with rice and beans. I repeatedly said "NO CHEESE" but the beans came with melted cheese on top. The tacos were just shrimp and flour tortillas - nothing else. The rice was ok. Overall, the food was ok enough to eat, but doesn't make me want to come back.

2.5 stars The best part of my dinner was the chipotle mango margarita! They were good, I had 2. The chicken taquitos (rolled tacos anyone??) of course would not live up to my expectations but not too shabby. Everything else was wasted calories. For starters: good chips, salsa was bland in flavor & reminded me of ketchup. I chose the taco and enchilada combo. The enchilada sauce was surprisingly good, 2 thumbs up! The cheese was disgustingly sharp and the chicken lacked seasoning. I was disappointed in the store bought pre made taco shells ... Maybe I'm spoiled from SoCal Mexican but they need to get in that kitchen and fry them tortillas into a crispy oily shell of goodness!! No bueno.

Was there in the mid-afternoon with a friend and her daughter for lunch. We sat in the bar area which had some nice decor with dark wood. The menu is extensive and it took our waiter 3 times checking on us before we could decide. That was a nice part for our waiter, Adrian. Lot of times, a waitperson will come back only once, maybe twice to see if you are ready to order. He came back enough times for us to decide on drinks and ask for some recommendations. Food came out in a short time, but of course, first thing is that you get a big basket of chips and a bottle of salsa while you are deciding. My friends had Enchilada Del Mar and Burrito Panzon while I had Burrito Azteca. The orders are huge! Mine came with refried beans, rice, guac and sour cream and chopped lettuce, tomato and onions. My friends got black beans and rice or black beans and special sauce (for the Panzon). I was famished, so I ate the whole burrito and my rice, whereas my friends ate 1/2 of each of their orders. But we all agreed they were very tasty. I'd driven by this place on a regular basis but just never stopped in, but now that I've had the food and drink, I will be back. They do have lunch specials, combinations and drink specials. Lots more to try!

This is as typical Tex-Mex as it gets. "La Cucaracha" was actually playing when we sat down! Food was okay in an average way. Chips and salsa were okay, entrees were okay, beans and rice okay. Service was friendly. Nothing stood out, no reason to really return anytime soon, even with a coupon. Hasta la vista, baby.

El Azteca is really good. I'm not a huge Mexican fan; I usually get fajitas, but with an extensive menu, I ventured out for some shrimp in a garlic butter sauce and my wife ordered some really tasty steak tacos. The associates were friendly and didn't get offended as I attempted to practice my Spanish when ordering dinner. She even helped me out with pronunciations. It also looks to be a decent happy hour place as there's a bar area adjacent to the restaurant. We didn't go over there but may check it out later. All in all, a pretty cool place.

This place is a solid staple. They have a pretty deep menu, and what I have tried so far has been good and enjoyable. The staff is friendly, the place is clean and well themed, it's your typical neighborhood Tex/Mex place. ...and yes, I'll be back!

Went there for late lunch a couple Sundays ago. The place is definitely average. It is not bad but also not really good. It was just okay. I had the Carne asada tacos and they were good but not great. Chips and salsa were bland. Margarita was the best feature there. I had the regular frozen one. Service was good.

  • Cindi W.

This is one of those times that you wish there was a 0 star. The food is at best average but we wanted to eat in the neighborhood and in the mood for Mexican so we thought we would give it a try and use a scoutmob. After much discussion about size of margarita pitcher to order the guy brings the 2 of us a 60 oz pitcher. Really? Isn't that illegal? When we told him we had ordered the 32 oz one he asks if we want him to bring that. Again, I say really? A waiter asking us if we want him to bring us what we ordered. We answered that yes we did so he brings the correct size, spills some on the table then walks away without cleaning it up or taking our order. After a few minutes sitting there we found the manager and explained to him that his service was beyond terrible and that we were leaving. I really wouldn't go back there if they paid me.

My friends and I dined here with their adorable baby gal. Baby screeched at the top of her lungs whenever we stopped feeding her, but no one in the restaurant seemed to mind. On the contrary, our waitress and other customers kept coming over to coo at the baby. So if you're looking for a family friendly restaurant this is it! Besides being family friendly I thought the food was pretty good too. Being the chip addict that I am I couldn't get my hand out of the chip basket, but still seemed to save a bit of room to share combo fajitas with my friend. Shrimp, beef, and chicken fajitas....the shrimp and the beef were particularly tasty. mmmmm.... While not the best mexican food I've ever had, it sure beats most of our sad options back in Chicago.

This is a tough review for me because I love Mexican food. El Azteca was just OK for me, though. I have to say, the service was good. The chips were good. The salsa was... fine... The place was pretty dead - which may be a symptom of the neighborhood as far as I know. I don't know much about the area and it was like 7:30pm on a Monday night. We sat outside, which was great because the weather was perfectly pleasant. For dinner options, they have a bunch of fixed combos and vegetarian combos. What I didn't like was you can't do any substitutions. Again, that's fine, because they had another section where you could build your own combo, even though that was like $3 extra dollars to have that option. BUT, more importantly they didn't even have all the item options in the make-your-own-combo section. Like I could not make a combo with an enchilada. So I reluctantly went with one of the options which had a bean burrito... My expectations for that burrito were low and unfortunately it came out even lower than that. The beans had like a... gritty texture, if that's the right word. As expected, the burrito had just beans in it and nothing else. There was a bit of cheese and some sauce on top of it. Not a great variety of flavor for a burrito - I guess I'm used to having lettuce, tomatoes, onions, beans, rice, sour cream, cheese, etc. Like a full-fledged burrito. Again, that's not what I expected this bean burrito to be and that's why I didn't really want it in the first place. So what did I want? I actually wanted the enchilada and the tostada, which were also in that combo. The tostada looked great, when it came out. It was the first thing I tried to eat, because it was the only thing with a crispy shell and so I wanted to make sure I ate it before it got soggy. Well, no luck there because it was soggy on arrival. I mean, it's not like I took it go and ate it 10 minutes later. Maybe it was sitting in the kitchen before they brought it out or maybe their tostada shells just suck. I couldn't even pick the thing up. I had to eat it with a fork and knife. Finally, the enchilada - this was actually good. The sauce was flavorful and the cheese was melty and flavorful. That saved the day, or I would've definitely gone with a 1 star. I've had some really good Mexican food in the area, so I have to say that there are better options out there, though I guess those were more towards the Buckhead area. So anyway, this place has potential; they just need to work on a few things to make it right.

I have come to this location over the course of several years from living in the area. The service has always been consistent for us and I'm a big fan of the chicken soup. Regarding Mexican cuisine in the area, it's definitely my preferred spot.

Not sure why the reviews on here are not better. We live about a mile from here and eat here all the time. We have never had a bad experience. Service has always been good and the food is your good typical Mexican restaurant food. Nothing fancy schmancy but not many are. I would definitely recommend for a good margarita, some cheese dip and a chimichanga :)

Why is it so hard to find a decent Mexican restaurant? And by decent, I mean decent -- simple, good, quality food? I'm not asking for much! A friend who'd never been here suggested we try it out. Right away, we were a little put off by the prices. Their menu is pretty standard; it's filled with the same items you'd find in most Mexican restaurants, which is okay if the food is good... but we'll get to that. Where was I? Prices. Who in their right minds thinks its okay to charge almost $13 for a quesdailla? Even their chimichanga dish is $12! Most of their dishes are $12 and over it seems. We figured, okay, if the food is amazing it'll be worth it. The took fooorever to arrive (the waiter even cracked some jokes about it... yeah...). FOR. EVER. AND. EVER. I had decided to keep it simple and just get a $9 taco salad. Can't go wrong, right? It was COLD. The chicken was cold! Not kinda-lukewarm-cuz-I-sat-around-while-your-friends-dishes-were-prepared-cold. No. More like I-was-in-the-fridge-until-it-came-time-to-be-plucked-and-dumped-on-your-salad cold. Look, I get that some ingredients are refridgerated until time to heat up/cook for consumption, but cold chicken in a taco salad is gross. My friend's tortillas for a dip were also cold!

Pretty poor mexican food with all the other options available. They could at least hide the microwave where they "cook" your queso dip. Los Rancheros in Dunwoody is better BY FAR

  • Jim C.

I don't recommend this El Azteca. They just don't try. The service is slow and unenthusiastic. The décor is tired and worn and the lighting is harsh. The food is less than mediocre. And the worst thing is their prices are extravagant for Mexican food. I have never experienced a chain Mexican restaurant with combo platter prices in the double digits. My wife had a wrap that was $13.00. Come on, that's too much for casual Mexican dining. Go someplace else.

  • Eric P.

Normal Mexican fare, so nothing special there. What would make it stand out would be service. Unfortunately, the service is pretty much non-existent. It was pretty much dead when we walked in, and we still had to wait to be seated because no one noticed us standing there. Then, it took far longer than it should have to ask if we wanted anything to drink. After saying water, it took at least 10 minutes for that to come. During that time, we barely saw any of the staff, and when we did, it was only their backs because they were all standing near the kitchen, shooting the breeze. Once our meals finally came (only the 3rd time our server came by at that point), we didn't even see our server until we asked for the check, and that was after waiting around 15 minutes after finishing our meals. My wife had asked for no rice, but instead beans, with her meal. She had thought her meal came with beans. It did not. It only came with rice. The server never said anything until we asked...after finishing the meal of course because that was the first time we saw him again after he dropped the plates off. If he knew the meal did not come with beans, why didn't he say anything when she said she didn't want rice, but instead beans? When we asked about this, he said, "You just needed to tell me you wanted beans instead." Thanks. You can get average Mexican food at a lot of places. Skip the poor service and go somewhere other than this restaurant.

So. This is really your run of the mill Mexican food. I had some ok fajitas here and our margaritas were pretty tasty. Best of all it was CHEAP! The thing that made me give this place one star is the "in house magician" Alex. As soon as we walked in we were seated and attended to immediately. Awesome! But there was a man standing around creepily walking back and forth scoping out tables. (seriously giving me the creeps). Once we got close to finishing up our meal, the creepy man (Alex) came over and introduced himself as the house magician. He did some pretty cool card tricks (and got visibly flustered when we weren't ooohing and ahhhing). After his "grand finale" we thanked him (awkward silence) and he basically stood there for another 45 seconds and nonchalantly (sarcasm) dropped his tips on the table. So I start fishing through my purse for any cash I might have. When I told him I had no cash, he rudely stated "well maybe the gentleman next to you can see what he has." So my boyfriend awkwardly fishes through his wallet and gives him a dollar. Alex then states since we didn't have that much cash we can leave him a tip on the credit card receipt. We left in shock. I've never really met someone so awkward/rude about tips! Hell, we didn't ask for the creepy in house magician to come over to our table and do tricks! Seriously, if you're going to come here for the tasty food and cheap margaritas call ahead and see if Alex is there. If he is, stay away!!!

Haven't eaten at an El Azteca in about 20 years. It was just as I expected, cheap, quick Mexican food. Restaurant was clean, cheese dip was tasty, my a la carte burrito brought a smile to my face from ear to ear. Best food ever? No. But a great food memory that didn't disappoint after all these years. Hope I don't have to wait another 20 to do it again.

Good food, nice atmosphere, but I was NOT impressed with the service. It may have just been our waiter, but he took a very long time taking our orders and then managed to get some of them wrong... I ordered the fajita taco salad, which was pretty good, except for he told me the "crispy shell" was a corn tortilla when it was a flour tortilla. This wouldnt have been a problem except for the fact that I have a gluten allergy. I'd probably still go again, just to give it another chance.

The food here is consistent. They have good taco salads, chips, salsa and other food than just the taco and burrito. The margaritas are good, but I generally need to add ice because they aren't served as cold as I like "on the rocks." It's our "go to" place, since it's right around the corner and on the way home from work, so we end up here once every two weeks or so. I do want to say that they treat my Dad well. He has a gluten allergy and they listen to him and take him very seriously. He LOVES to go there when he's in town. The servers are very nice to him and make him feel right at home. I appreciate that type of service.

On Cinco de Mayo I wanted to try some Mexican cuisine closer to home, so we made plans to meet friends at El Azteca. Still learning about the Dunwoody/Sandy Springs area, I didn't realize there were two so close, with this location near the Fresh Market and the other on Roswell Road. My boyfriend and I arrived at this one, and then ate before meeting our friends at the one on Roswell Road, realizing our location mix up. The food at this one was great, and a staff member from the Roswell Rd location even told us we made the right decision eating at this one, as it serves better food. The staff was very busy and service wasn't as good as it could have been, which is completely understandable given the date. No harm, no foul. Our waitress was very understanding when the 6 other members of our party did not arrive. The margaritas were smooth and tasty, the beans were the perfect consistency, and the beef burrito I ate was delicious. All in all, a great find in Dunwoody.

Ventured down here for lunch during the week. A bunch of us from the office met up with some former co-workers. For this Alpharetta boy, Dunwoody is dangerously close to ITP. Thankfully, El Azteca is somewhat familiar, so I knew what I was getting into! This location is a little smaller that others in their chain. The building is also a little older. I was surprised to find the place rather empty on a Wednesday lunch. They were very accommodating to our group of a dozen or so. Service was prompt and friendly. The food was typical for this chain, which is probably one of the better Mex joints in town. Nevertheless, it is still ubiquitous Americanized Mexican food to me. On this meal, my rice and chicken were on the dry, flavorless side. The salsa is tasty with some heat. Typical, ordinary, boring, predictable... That's El Azteca.

Food was bland. I love refried beans and theirs were lacking. Service was good. Our server was attentive and engaging without hovering. No wait at dinner time which should have told us something. The guacamole was good.

Can you call it the worst service ever when you basically didn't even get service? Well other than to ask what we would like to drink and eat. Otherwise, we were ignored and the restaurant was very slow. All the servers were in the back just chatting it up, we could see their backs. This was my third time at the restaurant. This one experience has ruined it for me. I will not be returning.

Bland, run of the mill food. @Andrea R Perhaps the other customers were trying to calm the child since the inept parent could not? Maybe they were attempting to salvage their meal out? Your attitude is just mind numbingly selfish. Screaming child does not equal family friendly.

Their food is NOT good. I get heart burn every time I eat here! And their margaritas are not all that either!!!

Huge fan of this particular El Azteca for one reason - their pitchers of Margaritas!!! Unlike the other chain locations, they're cheaper here and also offer a 32 ounce pitcher, which is perfect for two people (about 2 drinks each person). They don't skimp on the tequila, either, which keeps me coming back! Other than that, their food is pretty average; can't say I've ever had anything outstanding. Want terrific Mexican? Go to Uncle Julio's and order Camarones something-or-another - it's their shrimp fajitas and the best stuff around. But if drinkin' and cheap eats is on your mind, then El Azteca is the place.

This location has great fish tacos which other do not and the chile rellenos here are the best. They are not as busy as other locations so you can actually hold a conversation. The Cabo Special is a must as well. It combines all my favorites; Shrimp Chile Relleno, Fish Taco, and Chicken Soup. If you find yourself in Dunwoody make sure you stop by and say hello.

I had been going to Atlanta on business frequently and this was a place I made sure to come to each time I was in town. I wish I could give a review on more of their menu, but I could not pull myself away from ordering the Chipotle Chicken. It is a grilled butterflied chicken breast with a creamy Chipotle pepper sauce and mushrooms. Without a doubt, this is a restaurant I will visit if I am ever within 75 miles of the place.

We have been going here for years. It is a very kid friendly place! The fajitas are excellent, chimichungas are great, my daughter love the cheese dip which is just plain cheese no spices unless you want jalopenos in it. I am a huge fan of the Flautas. Very crispy! Even there chicken soup is delicious. Great value great service.

My boyfriend and I recently dined here for our first time. We have been to the location on Roswell many times, but this location was far superior. Our food was hot, fresh, and tasted delicious. It seemed much cleaner than the Roswell location, I would say it was the best traditional mexican I have had in a long time. Aside from its location (a half empty shopping center in Dunwoody), we both really enjoyed this place. I will be going back soon!

I've been enjoying the Shrimp Cancun at El Azteca for years - glad to see the Dunwoody store is the same quality as the others (not Ponce). Great service - price - atmosphere - when I drank we would spend hours at El Azteca - now the diet coke taste great along side those spicy Tiger Shrimp! -

You know it. You love it. El Azteca. You know the food is always going to be fast and good. What's even better though, is when you find one that isn't so packed on a Friday night that you know you're going to be waiting to get your Mexi-fix. This one is tucked away in Dunwoody Village. It's not too far from Perimeter mall. Find it and grab a seat. It's always as good as you think it will be and then some. This is one of those places I always leave stuffed.

Dinner on Saturday evening was decent. I mostly went because they're on my Rewards Dining For Miles list, but I think I like the one in Sandy Springs better. On this particular evening at this Dunwoody location, the pros were the chips, the salsa, and the portions. The cons were the grilled zucchini in my vegetarian burrito seeming a bit overly salty, refried beans (not sure if I could've specified black beans?), and some flawed/slow service in not originally delivering my guacamole and then messing up the charge for it. Went to Alon's for gelato for dessert, and by then was overly full!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
