You know what the most fun thing to do at Diner is?.. Leave. The service is horrible, The food is subpar- and worse if all, it's painfully obvious no one gives a s$&@. To give them the benefit of the doubt, my girlfriend and I tried it here twice. I think the chef who put this thing together, just thought "Well, Rosebud does well, I'll just open the doors here and it'll be perfect." Fail. Someone there should know, high traffic locations and authentic decor are irrelevant to the actual food and service.

The food was awesome! We both enjoyed The Diner Hash served by Ron Eyester himself. It was so flavorful and I enjoyed every bite. However, the service needs to be improved. We both had empty drinks for 10 minutes at a time even when the waitress walked by several times. This could be solved by having larger glasses. Despite the poor service, we will definitely return! The food was just THAT good!

I came here with a large group (10 people) for an early dinner on a weeknight. Upon entering, I noticed the floor was EXTREMELY sticky EVERYWHERE. So much, that you actually had to use effort to lift your feet from the floor. We were quickly seated (we had a reservation but it definitely wasn't necessary because we were the only people there). Our server was great and ran down the menu for us. However, there was a LONG list of items that they DIDN'T have. I initially thought they might have been specials since there were so many but no, about a third of the menu items weren't available. The food took a while to come out considered only three more people came in after us so it's not like the kitchen could have been backed up. I ordered the crispy chicken thigh which was surprisingly delicious. The honey glaze was what made this dish stand out. It came with mac and cheese and cole slaw. I'm not a fan of slaw so I didn't bother tasting it but the mac and cheese was good as well. We were celebrating a birthday so the server brought us a chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwich. I believe the cookie was gluten free or something because while it wasn't bad, it tasted off or something. While the food and our server were good, the lack of cleanliness and the slow service aren't worth dealing with so I won't return.

---DINER DRINKING GAME--- Rules: everyone brings their drink of choice. I recommend something you can down a lot of. 1. Upon arriving if there is no one at the hostess stand, drink while waiting until someone arrives. 2. If your server says "I'll be right

Beloved (or disliked, depending on who you ask) Atlanta chef Ron Eyester opened his latest restaurant, Diner, in Atlantic Station on March 5, 2015. The restaurant was originally slated to open Summer 2014, but its opening was delayed for months, something that's not uncommon in the restaurant industry. I've been a fan of @theangrychef, years before his appearance on Top Chef: Boston, and his Grateful Tables network of restaurants: Rosebud, The Family Dog, and Timone's. I love that he chose Atlantic Station as the neighborhood for his first restaurant outside of Morningside-Lenox Park. Diner is a contemporary take on the simple and traditional American diner. Located where the old Fox Sports Grill used to be, I think it's a fantastic addition to Atlantic Station. Open until midnight on Friday and Saturday, it's a terrific late-night weekend dining alternative to Strip and Yard House. They open early on weekdays (7am) and serve breakfast all day, seven days a week. The restaurant looks great. The interior is composed of quilted stainless steel, subway tile, and Georgia reclaimed wood. An old-fashioned speckled granite counter and a dessert and pastry display greet you at the entrance. You can order milkshakes and sodas at the counter. The covered outdoor patio faces east over the interstates with views of the Midtown skyline. The restaurant is spacious (over 200 seats) and exudes a casual "neighborhood feel," a trait shared by Ron's other restaurants. There's a full breakfast menu and an all-day breakfast menu (served during non-breakfast hours). These menus have some of Rosebud's popular brunch items such as the Nasty McAlister (fried chicken, scrambled egg, bacon & cheddar, soft bun) and Gordo's Breakfast (fried chicken, buttermilk biscuit, and over-easy eggs topped with sausage gravy). The head chef, Christian Rodriguez, came from Rosebud. As with other diners, Diner's menus are expansive. For breakfast, there's Chicken & Waffles, Shrimp & Grits, various breads and spreads, breakfast plates and breakfast sandwiches, Eggs Benedicts, steak and eggs, omelettes, pancakes, and more. A smorgasbord of items are available at lunch and dinner such as Springer Mountain Chicken Wings (Ron believes in "supporting local"), BBQ Lamb Ribs, Shrimp Remoulade, soups and salads, sandwiches and burgers (including tuna melts, gyros, and chopped liver sandwiches), fish and seafood (e.g. Lobster Cakes, Crab-Stuffed Shrimp), chicken, beef (including steaks), and pork dishes. Expect to spend about $10-15 per breakfast entree, $6-12 each for most appetizers, and anywhere from $10-25 for most lunch and dinner items. Save room for dessert because it is impressive here. They serve ice cream from Atlanta's own High Road Craft Ice Cream. They've got puddings, cakes and pies (by the slice or whole), and cookies (2 for $5) galore, shakes and floats (~$5 each), and even vintage egg cream fountain beverages. There's Mexican Coke, Boylan's soda, assorted coffee drinks, and a nice selection of classic cocktails and martinis, beer, and wine. Foods I've tried include: Breakfast: * Pancakes - sea salt honey butter, maple syrup * Diner Breakfast Hash - shredded potato, housemade breakfast sausage, caramelized onion, mushrooms, and sunny-side egg * Chicken & Waffles - crispy thigh, Tabasco honey, peace marmalade, Vermont maple syrup Dinner: * Disco Fries - housemade mozzarella, brown gravy, parsley gremolata * Crispy Oyster Sliders - bread 'n butter pickles and fried caper tartar sauce * Chopped Liver - boiled egg, Rosebud pickles, rye bread * Chopped Iceberg Salad - pineapple, smoked bacon, radish, bleu cheese, and truffle honey mustard * Meatloaf - Diner's custom CAB beef blend, buttermilk whipped potatoes, garlic green beans, and brown gravy Dessert: * Strawberry Milkshake * Brown Sugar & Sea Salt Cookie Everything I've had has been good. The Pancakes are phenomenal and among the best I've had anywhere. Sweet and fluffy. The chicken in the Chicken & Waffles is crispy, tender, and juicy. The waffles are thin, but delicious with the maple syrup and airy whipped butter. The Disco Fries are addictive and great for sharing. The Oyster Sliders are light and delectably tasty. I love that there's Chopped Liver, a comforting Jewish spread, on the menu. The Iceberg Salad is surprisingly good with fresh, high quality, and crisp ingredients. The Meatloaf is excellent. Ron and Christian's meatloaf is a blend of different cuts of Angus beef from Buckhead Beef. No tomato sauce/ketchup here. The texture of real strawberries is present in the milkshake. And finally, the soft Brown Sugar & Sea Salt Cookies are amazing. You must try one! The service I've experienced has been outstanding from the friendly hostess to the hospitable and accommodating manager, Mari. The best place to park for Diner in the Atlantic Station parking garage is near Stairwell 4 (purple).

Goodness...I was very torn between 2 or 3 stars for Diner. I was hoping that my experience would be better than the average Yelp review. But, as usual, my fellow Yelpers are pretty spot-on with the feedback! I decided on 2 stars, although I feel like it's more 2.5, with an option to improve. And the reason, honestly, is that my food wasn't very enjoyable :-(. Here's what I liked, the restaurant itself is very nice looking for the diner concept. It's spacious, shiny and has a nice patio area. Also, service was good...though, I will caveat that there were maybe 10 tables occupied in the entire restaurant, so I would expect service to be on point. Beyond that, like many people who live/work around Atlantic Station...I have been rooting for more great restaurants to open here and was excited about this one since it was announced. I will tell you that my excitement was a bit tempered by the reviews and rating. Although, I guess I still had fairly high hopes that I would be pleasantly surprised for my lunch meal, but sadly no. The menu itself is expansive and I almost ordered breakfast, which of course you can have any time of the day at a diner. Instead, I chose an item that I love to try whenever I see it on a menu anywhere--Lamb Ribs! This is actually an appetizer and with Diner's preparation, it comes with a cucumber salad. I tend to expect my lamb ribs nearly falling off the bone and these were a bit tough, unfortunately. The sauce on the ribs was just OK and could have been more flavorful. I also ordered the house salad, which has marinated veggies...and the salad was also just OK. I didn't completely finish either dish, which was a bummer. I will say that I would like to try again with the breakfast here or possibly a sandwich. Hopefully that will be a better experience. Happy eating!!!

Something is terribly amiss, here at "Diner" Why are they having trouble obtaining a Liquor License. Aside from bad service, bad food, this place's days are numbered.

I went to Diner in Atlantic Station with my family back in March on my birthday, and was completely disappointed. As the restaurant had just opened, we dealt with a lot of set backs during our meal. Our server was extremely friendly, and walked us through what the diner could serve and what they couldn't, one being alcohol, as they hadn't received their liquor license yet. My brother ordered a club soda, and the server told us they didn't have any, as the "CO2 system was down". My sister and mother started with a bowl of chicken noodle soup (both came out cold and had to be sent back). As for our meal, I had the servers recommendation which was the Nasty McAlister (Fried chicken, scrambled egg, bacon, cheddar, on a soft bun). The sandwich was extremely tasty, although it did come out 15minutes after the rest of my family received their meals. All in all, this was one of the worst diner experiences I've ever had (and I'm from the Bronx NY, which says a lot). I know they had just opened, but that is no excuse for poor quality and service. Months later and it seems they may have gotten the hang of things, but I do not plan on returning.

Had an early dinner at Diner several weeks ago. I really enjoyed our service, server, and food. I have an appreciation for restaurants that really invest in their servers learning their menu and trying the food. I don't remember our servers name but he was very passionate about the food and offered history about the chef and menu items. I was a bit thrown off by them not having a bar and the whole BYOB thing. I am not sure if I'd choose them for a later dinner because of this. Def worth trying!

I was being optimistic when I entered the 2.5 star Diner. The ambiance is nice with old school pics on the wall, diner style U booths and high tops to sit at. They also have bar seating, but no liquor license.....yet....I think that may be a reflection of how poorly they are doing. Only complaint is that it is hot in there, and we were the ONLY table seated around 11:30am, and by the time we left only 3 other tables were filled. For there only being 3 tables seated and maybe 5-6 people standing in the front, the service was never around when I needed it but always there when I didn't. My app plate was dirty. If I am the ONLY customer, why not check it? Also If I am the only customer, why do I have the waiter that has been there for less than a week and can give no recommendations on anything?? I don't blame the waiter, but I do the management. I only got a water refill once, it was empty for most of the dining experience. Very early through eating our main course we were asked if we saved room for dessert....well, how about when we eat more than 2 bites of lunch I'll let you know. Grape leaves - 3/5 - flavor was amazing, nutty, creamy, little too salty. Took off a star because way way way too much grape leaf. It was so tough I had to unwrap it half way and tear it off to even be able to bite through it. Spicy fried chicken and grits - 4/5 - I was expecting a spicy chicken like from chikfila, where the spicy was in the chicken or breading....however, a more appropriate name is buffalo chicken grits. After I mentally accepted what was in front of me, I pleasantly enjoyed it. The egg was cooked like it was supposed to be, the fried chicken itself was amazing (juicy, great flavor and breading), the grits were good too. There was just way too much buffalo sauce on the dish, so it ended up making the entire dish a little sour. Overall, I really did enjoy the dish, probably will ask for the sauce on the side next time. A downside, which can be argued, is that I am writing this review in the bathroom because I believe it gave me an upset stomach (also happened to other person that I ate with). It happened within 30 min of eating, so perhaps it was something else (although breakfast was skipped) but doubtful. Take it for what it's worth. As of now, 2.5 is accurate. I am open to trying this place again, only because I have enjoyed all of my Rosebud experiences.

Gordos breakfast - fried chicken with over easy eggs on buttermilk biscuits, topped with gravy, which also included a side of grits. I honestly expected this to be all separated out, but when the waiter brought out the dish the presentation was phenomenal. The thick chicken breasts sat on top two of the biscuits and the over easy egg was placed perfectly on the fried chicken. The fried chicken was juicy with a nice amount of crunch to it. The buttery biscuit, the softness of the egg, and the richness of the gravy complimented the respectable multiple layers of taste. I'm not a fan of grits, my girlfriend said "they could have been better." After sitting on the plate for a while it lost a bit of texture. I wish I didn't eat too much so I could to try out their desserts, but that'll give me an excuse to eat here again.

This is one of the worst meals I have had in a long time! Everything was terrible. We were anxious to try this restaurant because of the top chef thing but I have never been as disappointed as when we went before catching a movie at Atlantic Station. I ordered the Monte Cristo with the usual fries on the side. It was a greasy tasteless mess. The shaved pork loin inside was grisly and bland. The fries were the little pieces of overcooked greasy potatoes so small it was hard to dip in the ketchup. My wife's grilled cheese was terrible as well and she couldn't even stomach the shrimp bisque and my daughters burger was an overcooked dry patty. All were served with the most limp disgusting tasting pickle I've ever had that appeared like it had been walked on or something. In all I feel like I was ripped off here.

I was here for the soft opening of Diner before it had actually opened a couple of weeks ago, so there were still a few kinks to work out. Take my review with that grain of salt. My fiance and I were at Atlantic Station on a Saturday night to see a movie but we needed to get some dinner beforehand. Since all the usual suspects were filled to overflowing (Chick a Biddy, Yard House, Rosa Mexicana, etc.), and we noticed Diner was open and had no line, we decided to give it a shot. Diner is, as its name suggests, a diner-type restaurant established by a former Top Chef contender. The inside is reminiscent of a typical diner: checkered floor, booths and tables with formica tops, old school and retro decor, a big bar near the front with stools, a glass case displaying desserts at the front, etc. When we dined, the menu was more limited than it probably is now, but our waitress told us that night was actually part of the soft opening before the official opening next week. They had an all-day breakfast menu, salads, sandwiches, burgers and shakes that night. The typical suspects, but with more flair like special sauces, unique flavorings and other twists to make it more unique. I decided to get the soba noodle salad (chicken with soba noodles, mushrooms, peanut sauce and cashews) and my fiance got the chicken sandwich (grilled chicken with cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, mustard based sauce and fries) and we hung out. Here's where I take away points from Diner. For whatever reason, it seemed like the place had no ventilation or air conditioning. Thank goodness it wasn't hot outside, but even so, the inside was quite warm (there seemed to be no breeze or air movement of any kind) and it almost seemed smoky from the kitchen cooking. Like I said, this was the soft opening, which makes me hope it's been fixed now, but suffice it to say, we weren't enticed to stay for a slice of one of those huge cakes displayed near the front in the glass case. The smokiness was starting to irritate our eyes. Our dinners came out and were fine. Not fantastic, but just fine. Then we paid our bill and got on our way. I wasn't unhappy with Diner, but I hope they've worked out some of the inconveniences (and expanded the menu) since then.

::sigh:: Everytime my bf & I go to this place, we say..."let's get there before it closes for good." It's almost as if they're attempting to fast track themselves to mediocrity. The grits were cold and lumpy...nothing like the creamy, heavenly goodness from our first visit. The last two times I've asked for eggs scrambled soft, it just didn't happen. On today's visit, she brought them twice and then just blamed the "spaniards in the kitchen." My bacon had some type of white substance on it. Powdered sugar? The crustiness of old bacon? The pancakes were the only saving grace, but they weren't enough to salvage our sordid love affair with this place. Goodbye, Diner. We'll dream of your pancakes forever.

After the many successes of Chef Ron Eyester (aka The Angry Chef, Rosebud, The Family Dog, & Timone's), had very high hopes for Diner. However, my experience was anything but good and had me wishing they continued to delay the opening even further. We arrived on a Saturday night to a barren space. Nothing at the hostess stand (including the hostess) and only 4 tables with patrons. The soda jerk behind the counter ignored us and the prominent pie and cake refrigerator in front of me was almost empty with the remaining cakes collapsed on their trays with more on on the counter. I almost turned around and walked out at this point. After giving them a few minutes, a server came up to the door and asked if we had been helped yet. She promptly sat us and brought over water and menus. She was extremely helpful, explained dishes, and let us know they opened with a limited menu (it's just a front and back with a handful of appetizers, soups / salads, breakfast dishes, dinner entrees, sandwiches, and desserts). The one thing that caught me was the number of dishes with alcohol in them. If you happen to have an allergy, make sure you let them know. Lots of sherry, marsala, and other wines in most of the soups and sauces. Makes for a very tasty dish, but not noted anywhere on the menu. We ordered up some diner classics including the Tuna Melt and the Breakfast of Champions. The Tuna Melt came out completely cold with cold tuna, unmelted cheese, and formerly toasted bread. Flavor of the tuna was great, but where was the melt??? As for the Breakfast of champions, had such potential but the scrambled eggs and cream grits were cold and congealed and the silver dollar pancakes drowned in butter and syrup. But that wasn't the kicker... I was fine writing off an empty restaurant on a Saturday night. I was fine with slower service, a limited menu, and some growing pains. I would have held off on a review and come back later. But then the server asked if we wanted dessert. Now, I'm at a diner... a malt shop, famous for milkshakes and sundaes and all the wonderful things that make children and adults smile. Our first glances of the menu focused on the desserts. We ALREADY had one picked out. So we go to order and get this response: "Oh, I'm sorry, we are all out of ice cream. Completely out. So, no milkshakes or sundaes or anything. We just have a couple cakes and pies". WHAT??? Completely out of ice cream when it makes up over half your limited dessert menu??? She said they were hit really hard that afternoon and were out. They might have been, but it capped off a rather miserable experience. As I always do, will come back when they get through the growing pains and try things out again. But, for now, I can't honestly say it's worth your money or time until they work out some of the opening kinks.

Pros: no wait on Friday night (I was on my way to a show at the Alliance so this was great), fast service, super yummy milkshake, classic & inexpensive burger & fries (compared to $20 burgers that are easy to find in midtown), nice place to sit outside Cons: they were out of some ingredients for an appetizer we ordered, but this wasn't even really a con since they gave us a different one on the house! Also they haven't gotten their liquor license yet. Didn't cramp my style this time but hopefully they'll offer a drink menu soon. Overall a good meal with no complaints...and like I said I'd definitely recommend the milkshake.

This place was aweful!!! Do not go here...let me start with what they didn't have: No air conditioning No juice No alcoholic beverages despite having a bar No meat on the lamb ribs No sugar in the "sweet" tea No caramel in the "carmel" latte Exactly!!!! The lamb ribs had more fat then meat. The service was sub-par at best.

This is another one of those places that I should have read the reviews on before coming here. Big place great decor, the food well that's the bad part or the sad part in this case. Found out this place was patterned after the classic NY diners [i'm really going to have to look into why so many places want to be like NY]. Anyway how can you mess up breakfast, who messes up breakfast? Crazy right? well the place wasn't even half full but we had to wait and wait for our food to come out & when it did the order was only half right and cold. I'm not seeing this place lasting long unless the tourist keep them in business.

I'm a big fan of classic American diner food, so I was excited when I found out celebrity chef Ron Eyester was opening a joint simply called Diner. After a buildout that seemed to take about nine years, the restaurant finally opened with a limited menu. I'm not sure why since they had the longest buildout in the history of the restaurant business and had plenty of time to figure out the menu. But I digress... I've tried Diner on three different occasions and left disappointed every time. From an atmosphere standpoint, the place is odd. There are elements that invoke the classic diner, but the theme seems off -- it's an disconnected mix of colors and textures which don't seem to work well. I also think they are having some HVAC issues, because two of the three times I visited Diner, I found myself sweating like a whore in church. On my first visit, I tried the meatloaf with a side of whipped potatoes and garlic green beans. The meatloaf was just alright for me, dawg. Mashed potatoes were fine and the green beans were basically raw. Nothing really special -- I've had much better meatloaf in real diners. Hell, the meatloaf at the Irish pub around the corner is better. For my second visit, I stopped in for lunch. It was a beautiful day and the patio was inviting. After waiting until just after hell froze over, my server informed me they were out of my first selection... and my second. So, I just got up and left. Unfortunately, my lunch break was pretty much over, so I was forced to eat a Subway sandwich while walking back to the office. I realize new concepts have growing pains, so yesterday I decided to give the place another go. My best friend's parents were in town, so we took them there for brunch. Again, the place was hot like a sauna. My friend's dad went the safe route with bacon and eggs and they were fine. It's really hard to fuck those up. My friend had the Breakfast of Champions -- a huge plate of assorted breakfast items. He was unimpressed and thought they tried to do too much with simple breakfast foods. My friend's mom and I had the biscuits and gravy, which were as hard as hockey pucks (she had to use a steak knife to cut hers). The gravy was oddly flavored -- I think the chef was trying too hard to put his own spin on a classic. Sadly, I don't give this place very long. On Chef Eyester's Twitter feed, the quote under his photo states "I make fun of the stupid shit people do in restaurants." Uh... maybe you want to spend less time making fun of their stupid shit and try to get yours together. I really wanted to love this place, but I guess it just ain't in the cards.

I love Ron Eyester and Rosebud! but....Diner really let me down. I had such high expectations and the breakfast let me down. Waffles and fried chicken, coffee. Nahhhhhh! I believe honest brokering this review will help this stellar Chef up the game. And there are plenty of 1 and 2 star experiences for the Diner Team to ignore. We can't have enough good food in the A.

4:00pm on a Friday and we were the only ones in the whole restaurant. Took forever to get our food but our server did a decent job filling those small glasses of water considering it was his first shift there. We ordered a slice of carrot cake to go, and when eating it later we noticed it was very greasy. (Meaning it had been sitting out a few days and was no longer fresh.) This was my second time giving them a try but the slow service and okay food isn't worth giving this place any more tries.

Breakfast stuff is fine. Nothing out of this world, but fine. But the prices are crazy. I had the "full" Greek salad and ended up with a $10 pile of iceberg lettuce. Ron Eyester should be embarrassed to be charging that kind of price and calling that thing a salad.

Server was sweet and a 10 but we were practically the only ones dining in the place and it was painfully, painfully long to get any food. In fact I'm writing this as we wait. Seems a sandwich and salad / side wouldn't take so long. Thus far don't have feedback on food!!

There were some good things about the Diner and some not-so-good things but when a restaurant has Eggs Benedict on the menu but can not correctly cook the eggs then nothing else matters to me. I do not order poached eggs anymore because 9 out of 10 times they will be over-cooked but my husband is a very optimistic person and ordered them at the Diner. Again, they were very over-cooked, or as one manager at another place once told me, they were "hard-poached"! My suggestion: if you can't poach eggs then don't put it on the menu. It is difficult to properly poach eggs and I would rather go to a restaurant that states on their menu that they do not offer them than to be disappointed.

We live down the street from Atlantic Station so were excited that Diner was finally open. We were SO disappointed! Great location, space and view. The hostess was bubbly and nice but the rest of the customer service was horrible! The waitress was rude and slow but at least she was working. There were 5-6 other employees just standing around talking. The general manger was actually sitting in a booth talking and laughing with her friends ignoring everything. Our tea was very old and after finally flagging down our waitress she rolled her eyes and brought us a "fresh" glass but it was the same tea! 3 glasses later we gave up and got water! The biscuits and gravy tasted like the box of salt had been dumped in, the steak on the steak and eggs plate was very well done even though we asked for medium, the chicken on the chicken and waffles plate was over cooked and dry! When we called the general manager over she made excuses for each and every problem...I watched them make that tea this morning, I tasted that gravy myself...blah blah blah. She just wanted to get back to her friends! The most disappointing part is that this happened on Easter Sunday, we had reservations at Brio but decided to go to Diner instead...big mistake! Thanks for ruining our Easter! FYI DINER there are so many great restaurants in Midtown so if you have bad food AND bad service (and filthy restrooms) you will be out of business in a month. I would fire all the staff and start over! We won't be back ever!

Uneventful. Was so excited to try this restaurant and chefs food. The plates were lackluster and unappealing. Feta cheese does not make for calling the salad Greek. Chopped salad seemed to come from a bag. Will give props to the side of spinach.

Very disappointing. I've been looking forward for this place to open since last summer. When they handed me the menu I was shocked. They cut the menu nearly in half. I checked out the menu online way before they were ready to open and it looked very promising! The turkey burger I got was - okay. The fries however were so unsatisfying; soggy and bland. I'm willing to give it another try in a month or two, but with no expectations.

Terrible. The chicken and grits had to be the nastiest thing I've ever eaten. Basically it was hot sauce with a side of grits and chicken. My friend had the hash and she didn't seem to enjoy it at all. Rest of my dining guests seemed to be OK with their meals.

I've been to Diner twice since it's been open. Mixed feelings overall. My caveat to that is that the service has always been wonderful and service fairly quick, although both times I've gone, there have hardly been any customers in at all. The first visit was for lunch one humid May Saturday. I selected the fried oyster sliders minus the bread and pickles- not bad, but not really good either-the remoulade took away some of the bitterness. After pondering the entrees, I chose the BBQ Springer Mountain chicken sandwich minus cheese and fried green tomatoes. It was not the best sandwich, nor the worst I have ever had. The chicken itself was flavored well and very tender. The sauce was slightly cloying. I'd grade that experience a B. My second visit was this past Saturday. I wanted brunch in the worst way. After selecting the Breakfast of Champions, I couldn't wait for the plate of delicious goodies to be set before me. I should have waited. To be fair, the scrambled eggs and southwestern potatoes were delicious. The sausage and grits- not so much. I sent my plate back because the sausage looked like two flat burger patties with NO taste at all, and the grits, were, well- just awful. The manager on duty came over to ask what was wrong with my food. I guess she'd heard complaints about the sausage before, but she was slightly defensive over the grits. To paraphrase her reaction- "People rave about our grits!"....Not me. She swapped my sausage out for bacon and brought an extra order of potatoes to make up for the grits. The bacon was, well, bacon- can't really go wrong there. I wanted so much to love the Silver Dollar pancakes and maybe in another life, I would have. I like my pancakes simple and substantial, but Diner's pancakes have strong notes of lavender to them (reminded me of how my favorite household cleaner-Mrs. Meyer's smells) and it was slightly off-putting. I think next time I'll just bypass Diner and keep going to Copelands or Yard House.

Ron Eyester does it again! Great food and nostalgic ambiance. The menu has some real classic favorites and who doesn't like brinner(breakfast for dinner)? Try the strawberry milkshake and the monte cristo.

Order the Ham & chesse omelette. Omelette tasted delicious but potatoes were not fully cooked. But they were nice to substitute with french fries. Great place!

Underwhelming.... at best... Wasn't bad... wasn't good.... Had the turkey ruben... which i was quite excited about... the bread came out soggy... the fries were clearly from the bottom of the bag, since i had a small mound all of which were about an inch long and greasy... my dining companion had the burger which was also just meh..... With so many amazing restaurants around unless they start turning out considerably better food i give them 6 months. As it was only 2 weeks open there were maybe 8 tables at 6:30.... not a good sign. On the bright side.... the location is very nice, the service was good and the ice tea was delicious.... but i can get that on my own porch.

This place has a lot of selections so you are kind of overwhelmed by the choices. We all had different items and the only person who really enjoyed their food was the one who got the breakfast platter for dinner.

Service is A-1 makes you feel welcome from the first step you take into the restaurant. And the food is very dope! Very!

Came for dinner with our family of four. Chicken noodle soup was fantastic (OK my daughter was disappointed it wasn't out of red and white can). Full of flavor with nice chunks of chicken and plenty of vegetables. Crab Omelet and Ham & Cheese Omelets were large and delicious and served with nicely seasoned skillet fried potatoes. Service was quick and attentive. Nice ambiance and music.

I never going back to that place again, food below average, service really bad. Our server Josh he was nice at first but then kind of over that place and the fact that he had to be there. I order the three plate salad because it has tuna salad, egg salad and chicken salad, but when i got it i realize that first it was can tuna, yeah can tuna and it has a lot of celery which i never see anything about celery on the menu, and i cant eat celery so i had to send it back. Don't get me wrong, i mean i work in the industry and it was by far the worst experience i had Ohhh and by the way the place was totally dead and it was only like 8 pm. That should have been our first sign.

Can I give it zero stars? Here is what is wrong: 1. The AC is either set to 80 degrees or is just plain off. I was burning up both times, and I am the kind of person who usually brings a sweater with me everywhere I go. 2. My food was just ok - ordered the same thing both times - but my friends' chicken sandwiches were cold and rubbery, and the bun looked suspiciously like a Sunbeam bun you would buy at Kroger. One friend has his taken off the check and ordered something else that was also bad. The egg salad actually tasted like total vinegar. 3. Service is AWFUL. The two servers we have had were both nice, but rarely came by to see if we needed anything else, which we did, and our food took like 30 minutes to even come out. And there were only about two other tables in the restaurant. 4. They have not been able to sell alcohol there since it opened, what, like a year ago? WTF is happening with the liquor license? It feels like this is definitely a lazy restaurant through and through. I can't believe this is a restaurant owned by the same people who own Rosebud. Diner is DEFINITELY bizarro Rosebud. It's like they opened one great place and said F _ _ _ it! to the second one.

We've been there twice since it opened and thought it was delicious. Each time, I ordered the Nasty McAllister and it does not disappoint. The grits are Devine - maybe the best I've ever had. They always have a giant carrot cake in the bakery case that looks delish - can't wait to try it next time. The prices are on par for Atlantic Station - haven't seen it too busy yet since it just opened, so no need for a reservation. Definitely worth a try!

Went on on a Sunday evening. The menu was only a front and back page and they did not even have a basic burger on it. We opted to just get a desert and then move on. We ordered the B.A. Sunday. It was, at best, ok. I didn't really feel it was worth the 11 bucks they charged. Server with dreds was so nice!

I have dined here with my wife and 5 month old daughter 3 times in the last month. The food was delicious. The portions large. The staff was nice and very accommodating. We will definitely eat here again soon.

The only reason I am giving this one star it's because I can't give any less. I went there for breakfast this morning and had home fries, turkey sausage and oatmeal. This was the worst breakfast I have had ever I didn't eat any of the food and send it all back. My girlfriend had French toast and took one bite and send that back as well as her turkey sausage. When the bill came they charged us for all of the food we sent back. I agreed to play for the home fries the copy and the oatmeal. The manager said they could not comp the food just because we did not like it! I expected to pay for the coffee I expected to pay for the home fries and the oatmeal, but charging for the stuff we sent back was just poor service. We will never eat here again, bad food, bad service... Don't waste your time

I was hoping the bad reviews from closer to opening were no longer true and wanted to try the place on the chef's name alone. It was terrible. Our waiter was polite and served us well but the food wasn't good. I had the turkey Reuben at the recommendation of our waiter over the BBQ chicken sandwich. I didn't finish the meal, and that's rare for me. My friend and I commented as we left, it's diner food, how can you mess that up? Yelp has never steered me wrong, still hasn't. Next time I'll respect the stars.

It's no Rosebud or Family Dog. Here is my ask ... don't call it a tuna melt unless the tuna is warm and the cheese is melted. Cold tuna on toast is a tuna sandwich. Disappointed. I am hopeful they will get it together because we need a good diner in Atlantic Station. Not off to a good start.

Sad really, because the concept of updating diner classics to add some contemporary interest is a good one. But, execution is so poor that they should wipe the slate clean and just start over. We only visited once, but sorry, just not enough hope to go back. The décor is really not right for a "diner".. only the very front area with bar stools looks or feels remotely right. The rest looks like it was adapted from a previous tenant and just tried to make it work. By the way, in most diners, you can see the grill work happening. Not here. Extra tall ceilings make for a total lack of coziness. As you'll read elsewhere, they are stingy with air condition. Even our server was sweating bullets. They did crank it up when we complained. No one's going to greet you when you come in, so hang until they think about it. The hostess was grumpy and has no feel for customer service. We don't need attitude when the first table you show us isn't right for us. We need a bit of cheer. Once seated, don't worry, your server will eventually get to you. eventually. The menu reads great, some really interesting choices. But the food wasn't even average. The chef needs to taste what's coming out and redesign or retrain. And management (if there is any) needs to watch the front of the house, offer a little training and supervision, or...just move on to a job more suitable.

I reallllly wish I looked at reviews before we visited yesterday! I wasn't even going to write a review but I thought maybe the Chef/owner will some how read this so he can understand just how horrible of an experience we had. 1. We walk in and were greeted by a hostess. She seats us and fills our water glasses and gave us menus. 15 minutes after picking out what we wanted we noticed we never even met our server. I asked a server that passed by if he knew who our server was and he said "Um, what does she look like?" And I said "I don't know, we never had one". He walked away looking confused and 5 more minutes passed by before a server(wish I got her name because she was the ONLY good thing about this place) came up to us and apologized because she noticed we hadn't be served and she would take care of us. 2.My friend ordered a frappacino. She came back a few minutes later and said they couldn't make it because they didn't have a blender. What?! How does a diner not have a blender, better yet a restaurant?! Publix is in walking distance go buy one! She was very sweet and suggested a cappuccino so she prefers that. We saw her ask the manager to make it and 20 minutes pass buy and she kept checking on it. We heard her ask the guy at the drink counter and he yells I can't make it only the manager can. She went back to the manager (who looked super overwhelmed and they only had 20-30 people in the entire restaurant!) and she came to our table and says exactly this "Sorry she asked me several times to make your cappuccino and I forgot!" She then says "I won't charge you and you can even have 2!" We laughed it off even though we were annoyed. It gets worse.... 3. We order onion rings for an app and the server said they were out of them but she would give us a dessert in its place. So we told her we will just take our food. After a few minutes she brought onion rings and said they made them for us. They were not good. Lacked salt and had slimy batter on the inside. We still didn't complain because the server was so sweet. 4. While all of this is going on we witnessed 2 explosive fights the manager had with two employees in the middle of the restaurant. She saw us looking and came up after one of them and said "I'm sorry you had to witness that." Wth?! No wonder why they food is awful the Chef was seating ppl, serving ppl, because the manager sucks and instead of helping guest she was fighting employees and blaming them for everything. She also brought the drink over at this point and it looked like cured milk on top of milky coffee. She says "Let me know if it's just gross. I couldn't get the machine to work too well." What?!!!!! 5. We get our food. I ordered the fried chicken and waffles and the chicken had noooooo salt in the batter at all. The chicken had random really dark slimy areas and it was nasty. The waffles tasted like microwave waffles. My sis had shrimp and grits and there was soooo much heavy cream in the grits. My friend ordered the sausage Benedict and she said it was ok, but really lacked seasoning and she felt it was wasted calories. It gets even worse!!!!!! 6. The manager comes around and ask how everything was and we are really nice and tell her it lacked seasoning and she said "Thanks for telling me and being honest" she then reminds us she is going to bring us free cookies because of the drink mishap. She brought the cookies and said she would comp them and the onion rings and said she would bring our check. After having a bad dining experience we just wanted to leave. We wait for 20 minutes and she never brought our check! Eventually I couldn't take it and saw her pass by and said "After everything we've seen today we are still being so nice and all we want is our check. At this point do you want us to pay or just leave?!" She then ran to the register and took off half of our remaining bill. She apologized( not sincere) and we signed and left. We still left good tips because it wasn't the waitresses fault. I leave this long review to say if this place is going to survive, management needs to change. She was so fake with her apologies and the number one thing that bugged me is she blamed everyone but herself for everything that happened. It's your responsibility to let the chef know the feedback and also keep your staff and customers happy. I may have not left a review of the food was just bad, but on top of bad food, we had HORRIBLE service from someone that should have provided stellar service. They will end up covering half over everyone's bill if the food and service isn't good.

I had high hopes for this place since Diner generated a lot of buzz in the local papers when it finally opened. Unfortunately, this restaurant doesn't strike me as one that will last very long, considering the abundance of well established (and extremely popular) breakfast and brunch hot spots nearby. Upon entering into Diner on Sunday, I was surprised by the sheer size of the main dining area (mostly empty on a Sunday at 1pm, which should have been a warning sign). The atmosphere of the restaurant seemed a bit off, as the decor suggested a nicer restaurant than a neighborhood/old fashioned diner. Granted, it's located in Atlantic Station, I feel like it needed a more nostalgic interior. Next up was the temperature of the dining area. I'm not sure if the a/c was simply turned off or if it just wasn't operating, but on a muggy day, I was anticipating (ceiling fans) or anything to keep the place cooler. Lastly, we come to the food, which was disappointing at best. When a dish comes off the line and is served at room temperature, someone screwed up. I didn't want to send it back to be reheated because the service seemed a little slow for a mostly empty restaurant. In addition, one of my eggs was poached so long that the yolk came out completely intact....in other words....the line cook needed to pay more attention. In addition, the hollandaise sauce was runny and the spinach wasn't cooked. It just made for a strange and somewhat forgettable experience. All in all, Atlanta has plenty of awesome breakfast places and I'm sad to say this is not one of them yet. I do hope they tighten up their kitchen operations and make some adjustments so they can complete with the others.

Went on a Sunday for lunch. The waitress stated this was the busiest they've been so it was hectic. The place was not even half full. Ordered the pancakes, veggie burger w/fries, and the salmon club w/onion rings. Pancakes where edible but barely. Tasted like microwave pancakes. Veggie burger was tasteless as well as the fries. The salmon, oh god, the salmon. Was barely able to eat half of it. It was chewy and not fresh tasting. I've been sick to my stomach since leaving there. Oh and the onion rings. They gave me 3. I cannot fathom a respected chef is actually involved with this place. Since I went from feeling great to so sick I'm unable to eat today I will not be returning.

Came here twice, once for breakfast another for dinner Expecting growing pains, but the place was somewhat suboptimal food quality wise. I didn't write a review after I 1st visit which I give around 3 stars accounting for growing pains 3-4 days after opening. At the first visit my ordered got messed up 1 egg instead of two arrived. Breakfast potatoes were a bit undercooked, service slow with waitress standing around by the kitchen counter for 10 min not doing anything.. This is a review of my second visit for dinner about 2-3 weeks after opening: The place is too big for how many people are there, creating. A strange atmosphere. Perhaps it's a good idea to block part of the restaurant out and seat everyone in the same small area the size of a Waffle House? That would make the place more lively. They have a limited menu, so I was expecting limited options. Decided to get the the meatloaf which the waiter praised. Ordered it - waiter came back 20 min later after we finished the appetizer and told us they are out of meatloaf...this was at 7 pm.. This is kind of inexcusable - both the fact that you are out of one of your limited menu entrees and that you told me you are 20 min after we order it. I ordered the salmon which was good, potatoes it came with were slightly undercooked but decent, asparagus was ok. Also had the beef Wellington appetizer which was very good. My friend ordered the tuna sandwich, he said it tasted "ok" after the finished half of it however he started to have burning on the tongue and his tongue got all red, initially we thought it was an allergy, but it didn't swell and he didn't have any other allergic symptoms. So we thought it was something in the sandwich that irritated it, perhaps overload on the lemon or lime juice or garlic? We asked the waiter what was in the sandwich that could of cause it, waiter said he wasn't sure and told us it had lemon juice, coriander and tuna...no one came by to inquire about it otherwise from management team and the waiter didn't seem too concerned about it.. Perhaps better attention could be made to the food prep and the stock of the kitchen? So overall experience is about 2 stars which is dissappointing since I had high hopes. I will try the place one more time after the full menu is out. Will post another review then. Would like to see the place to try to integrate more w surrounding community? Perhaps market to Atlantic station residents?

I wandered in for a quick dinner. Since the diner just opened I knew it wouldn't be crowded on a Monday night. It was pretty empty and I was greeted before the door shut behind me. I was given an option of where I wanted to sit but was ultimately ushered to a booth. Water glass was filled promptly and as the menu is still limited I quickly ordered the chicken and waffle. I was excited about the potential of having a favorite of mine so close by. Alas, my meal was a series of disappointment. The waffle was very reminiscent of Waffle House. Sigh. The butter on top was delicious but that may be because I avoid butter most of the time. The chicken looked crispy and looked delicious. It turned out to be absolutely flavorless and doused in honey. Why oh why? Then there was an orangey marmalade sauce on the side. I could not figure this out since there was more than enough honey on the chicken. Mid way through the meal my waffle got cold and tough. The water was filtered so no complaints there. The waitstaff was attentive and friendly but keep in mind the place was empty. The bar still isn't open so all in all I didn't enjoy my dinner at the diner. They plan to have late hours so perhaps in a drunken stupor I may return to try the shrimp and grits but I'm not hopeful. Happy dinning!

Everything expect the service was horrible. Being that I've eaten at 3 out of 4 of Ron Eyester's restaurants and liked none of them, I have come to believe he is either delusional in the fact that his food is good or simply does not care. The floor was disgusting! Why should people leave their homes, sit in traffic, and pay to eat here when they can cook better food themselves! Sorry, I know it's harsh but it's also outrageous. I'd rather have 1 good restaurant instead of three mediocre ones...

Food not good! I had the crab stuff shrimp and it was awful it tasted like imitation crab and it was cold. The mac and cheese was bland. My boyfriend had the chicken and it was so small he was still hungry and we had to go to another restaurant. However the service was good!

The server was really nice. The Head Chef came to check on me and my party as well as the GM. However, the food came out warm to almost cool temperature. I ordered a burger and fries(which I had to send back) and my guest had the Breakfast meal. His grits didn't pass the butter test(it just didn't melt). The place was empty and there was no excuse. Will I be back? Absolutely. But I have to let the place open fully first. Nice venue tho. Definitely has potential. And hours of operation are perfect. Good Luck!!

Had Breakfast of Champions...for lunch. The best pancakes I've ever had (different than any I've ever tasted). Home fries were delicious. Sausage was more like mini sausage "burgers"...really good. Started off with onion ring appetizer. Very tasty, light breading. Next time will order full order of pancakes...only 2 came in the Breakfast of Champions.

We walked in...and it went down hill from there. Three friends and I went to Diner excited to try something new at Atlantic Station. We had a little something to eat earlier (see The Pig and Pearl review) but wanted something else. I looked up Diner menu online and it looked good and it had a large cocktail, beer and wine list(more on this later). We walked in at around 7:30ish and the place was almost empty. Not good. But then we saw the amazing cakes in the display and got excited again..they looked amazing. But we didn't stay long enough to try them. We were seated and were about to order drinks except they don't have the liquor license yet....so no bar. A little disappointing but it was not a deal breaker. The waiter told us we were welcome to walk down to Publix and get a bottle of wine or a six pack of beer....No Thanks! We wanted an appetizer and asked the waiter what he suggested and he said the House Made Potato Chips with Sweet Onion Dip were his favorite. We ordered those. I wish I had taken a picture of these things when they came out. No joke..when they came out I thought they had served us someone else's order. The "House Made Potato Chips" were right out of a bag. I am not exaggerating nothing was homemade about these chips and the "Sweet Onion Dip" I swear was Lipton onion mix. We asked for the bill...and we left. I have eaten at most of the other places at Atlantic Station and they were all infinitely better than Diner.

This is my first review on Yelp - I was that disappointed by my experience. I'm a big fan of Rosebud and enjoy the Family Dog so I had high expectations for Diner. I went to Diner for Sunday brunch - the service was horrible and the food was mediocre. The entire mood of the place was pretty depressing and I felt I was in a dark weird space where we were sat. I had the hash as my entree and it lacked flavor. My friend ordered an omelette and potatoes and didn't even half of it. The waiter spent more time texting on his phone than paying attention to his tables and the other staff just seemed dead, with the exception of the hostess. She was very absorbed in some kind of artwork, presumably for the restaurant, but she was also really nice. Even though she sat everyone right next to each other in the same section. So half the back section against the wall was packed table to table and the other half was completely empty - odd. The best part of the entire experience was the waffle and I can get that at Rosebud. Would suggest you not waste your time.

I hesitated in writing this review because I really wanted to love this new place as I've been waiting for it to open since last summer! It definitely didn't live up to my expectations, and maybe that's on me, but as a restaurant in general, it was pretty mediocre. Unfortunately the evening didn't start out very impressive when we walked in to a deserted hostess stand. We stood for a few minutes while the employee at the "diner" portion of the restaurant didn't even acknowledge us. What we had to look at was a fairly empty and pretty unimpressive cake and pie display case. Once we were seated, however, our waitress was great. Very attentive and helpful with the menu, kept the waters full, etc. The prices aren't bad either. Please note they are operating on a limited menu right now, so there isn't too much to choose from. My friend noted there wasn't much for him to choose from since he has an allergy and at that point I almost had us walk out. I'm glad we stayed to have the experience but...besides the service I can't give accolades to much else. I ordered the tuna melt which was tasty, but not melted at all. They should just call it a tuna sandwich. Besides toasted bread, everything else was taken directly out of the fridge. My friend ordered a breakfast platter and though he ate it all, said it was all pretty mediocre and had suggested tweaks to all the dishes (too much cream in the grits, pancakes completely soaked in syrup, etc). We were both pretty excited about getting an ice cream dessert, though, only to be told when we asked for the dessert menu that they'd just run out of ALL ICE CREAM. I don't even understand how that happens but...yes. No ice cream, no sundaes, no milkshakes. We tried to pick a cake or pie instead but nothing in the display looked appetizing at all. I am still hopeful for what this restaurant can be, but think perhaps they should have continued to delay the opening until they could do so confidently. I'm looking forward to them obtaining their liquor license (mimosas FTW!) and offering their expanded menu so will give it another try in a month or so. I love the concept and have high hopes!

Not as nice as I thought it would be after the time it took to open. The place does not give you the feeling of a diner. It was just okay. The grits were awful and the turkey sausage was not to my liking. The only thing I did like were the pancakes. Home fries were a 2 out of 10. This place does not get my recommendation unless you are looking for a place to eat after church with no line.

A very "flat" experience overall. Food was mediocre at best, Even the burger had a wonder bread type sesame bun that I paid extra to make it a "deluxe" burger (which meant lettuce, tomato and onion). No pickle in sight. the meat was fantastic but if you order it, throw the bun away, it's pitiful. How can a top chef contestant be using such crap for his breads? Veggie burger was also awful - more like a pile of mush on a wonder bread style bun. No music and only 2 other tables in the whole place so it seemed very ware house like. After 1 full week in Atlanta, this was the most disappointing of all places we ate - including a cold ham and cheese sandwich at home. Service was fair to good. Nobody said good bye, let alone thank you when we left.
