I really like this place for lunch, especially if you're craving seafood. They do a great job of putting together healthy meals that you would make at home without it being too oily or salty. There are no waiters who take your order - just go up to the register and order and then they'll bring you your food. To note: last time I came here I saw a sign that kids eat for free if you bring one parent on Monday or something like that. If I had kids, I would totally cash in on that deal!!

A good, fast choice when you want something a bit more healthy. I always get the fish and I've tried a few different ones and haven't been disappointed yet. Big fan of heat so I like the flavor of the spicier piri-piri sauces they have on the tables. I always get the Piri-piri mushroom topping on whatever I get. I keep meaning to try something new but it's so good I'm reticent to try something new. The sides are probably about the only place you might get hit with something a little unhealthy since most of it's fried but hey, at least it's a real vegetable.

In Atlanta for business; around my hotel, nothing much but fast foods, sushi, trees and a lot of peace. While in the mood for something healthy, delicious and light, I look up restaurants around the area. Looks like hidden treasures all around. Lots of choices for steakhouses, thai, etc.. ssdd. I wanted fish. Boneheads sounded "fishy" at first, but that is exactly what I was looking for. Healthy, grilled fish and veggies- ta-da! I ordered to go; after all, I am traveling and want to be a hotel bum for a while. Getting the grilled Mahi Mahi with Piri Piri Mushrooms, grilled zucchini, I subbed the rice for grilled asparagus. Oh yeah, and a crabcake. A short, pleasant ride later, I arrive. Its about 9pm.. they are closed, but quickly opened the doors and let me in. For being under $20, my food was heavy... so I was intrigued. Crabcake: it was big. Served over spicy cole slaw and remoulade (spicy, almost tar-tar like sauce), everything went pretty well together. Crabcake was cooked very well, so it was nice. The cole slaw was not overpowered by the dressing and had a light, spicy flavor. Main dish: the grilled Mahi Mahi was a bit overdone but seasoned very well. The veggies... now, I am not sure if they are famous for giant vegetables... but the asparagus was scary big. Never the less, I tried it because I love asparagus. It was ok. Not sure if it was the container or the 5 minute drive or the fact that it was plainly overcooked... but it was a bit soggy. Crunchy asparagus is the way to go.. so a piece of advice for the chef.. if boiling the asparagus prior to grilling, due to its size.. either get smaller asparagus or let it grill. Boiling makes it chewy and gross. Zucchini was just as big; very thick.. but surprisingly, very very tasty. It was a lot of food for the buck. So, overall.. my healthy, tasty, fishy craving was satisfied by Boneheads and I will go back again.

I went to Boneheads on 06/11/2013. I reviewed all the reviews here. I must say I took the advise of a fellow "Yelper" and ordered the catfish sandwich with the zucchini. The fish was good, the zucchini could use some seasoning. Overall, I would recommend this place and return again.

This place is a few blocks away from my work place. Have some really tasty dishes and love their sauce and dippings. If you are a fan of Okra this is a place for you, you can get anything and everyting in Okra here. Try their Taco's they have a blend of Cabbage and Lettuce with some lime really savoury..

Reading the reviews of Boneheads reminded me to do my own review as I have dined here a number or times. I like it a lot! My favs are the grilled zucchini, grouper sandwich (yum), the shrimp/fish tacos and those fries. I consider this restaurant a healthy spot as everything is mostly grilled. The taste of the foods are always fresh, cooked to order right in front of you. I noted some comments that I found somewhat amusing and somewhat unflattering concerning the employees, however I have never had any such experiences at this location no matter the ethnic background. The food is inexpensive and its a great quick stop. I was sorry the one in Atlantic Station had closed...it was always crowded so not sure what happened there. I will return for sure

The first time I went here I wasn't a huge fan but I recently went back and loved my entree! So I guess it depends what you order but I give two thumbs up to the Portobello burger and my husband's Greek salad. I like the quick service aspect and the dining room is still very nice to eat in. I would recommend trying it out and I will certainly be back!

This place is nice clean and pretty quick. And most of all delicious and it's grilled fish so probably healthy too. It as the best food I've had in weeks and best decision to stop here as it's right by my house. Try the grilled Tilapia w/ Piri Piri (tangy sauce) mushroom topping. Avoid the side of asparagus, as its okay, but waaay too big (on 2 occasions) and no one likes oversized (tough) asparagus. Other than that, this place is a treat.

I usually go to the Perimeter location in Dunwoody which I love. I don't care for this location. It just seems off. The service is off and the food seems to be put together with less care. My fish tacos were drowning in sauce making them soggy and barely edible. Still love the company but not this location.

Great concept! Fast, healthy Caribbean chicken & fish. A good alternative for takeout over pizza or Thai food. I really enjoyed the salmon with pineapple salsa. I will be back.

I think this place is really terrific! Every time the fish tastes like it comes from some high-priced fish house. Never fails. :) Once again vivacious Valerie made my stop that much better, with her outstanding spirit, service, and attitude! If you love or like fish, Boneheads is an economical jewel. Yes, I've been to Marietta Fish Market and The Atlanta Seafood Factory, but if you're "trying to stretch a buck"(as most are) this place can't be beat! Nice touch with the soothing Pandora Jazz.

I was introduced to the this place by my sister in sunny SoFla years ago but its no longer there, so I get to brag about this place to her every time I eat here. Love this place. Good healthy option - mostly grilled, very little is fried. While I was thinking of great customer service, I thought about this place and realized that I never finished my review! Only God knows how longs its been sitting here...I've been here countless times. The last time I made a visit, it was for my office's Free Lunch Friday! It was my time to pick a place and I chose BH. Love this place from the sauces to the seasoned fries! Anyway, the customer service is phenomenal! Scott assisted me with the orders and even got one of the employees to help him carry out the lunches to my car. When he approached the passenger's side, I remembered how junky my car was. Scott said "these travel best on the floor" and I said with a slight embarrassing tone "um, If you can find some space...". He could care less. He picked up one of my metallic & cork wedges and teased me "wooohooo, Karen's going out tonight!" It made me laugh of course and forget about how the inside of my car looked. So, anyway, on to the food. Here's a list of things that I've had at BH: Mahi Mahi - UH-mazing Salmon - always my go-to! Grouper - decent French Fries - seasoned to perfection Sweet Potato Fries - very good Grilled Zucchini - seasoned to perfection. I get it every time! Shrimp - wooohoooo! tossed on a bed of Asian Slaw - YUMMERS! Greek Salad - a little heavy on the oil, filled with more cucumbers than id like, but really good Caesar Salad - Good Remoulade - what??? Id be a fool to leave this place without it! Sauces - try them ALL!

The food here is so good it's ridiculous. Piri piri chicken and the fried shrimp are my favorites. Seriously the food is OUTSTANDING. Update: still love this place! Besides what I already mentioned I love the mahi mahi, their rice is so good, their zucchini and asparagus, hummus... I've loved everything I've had. Anyone we've introduced to this place has loved it and became ADDICTED. So good!!

This is another place that I tend to visit for lunch - only because of its proximity to my office. I can't say that I really like Boneheads though. Depending on what you order, it can be a lot healthier than most other options in the area, but that's really the only reason that I go here. I tend to order some type of fish on most visits here, usually the mahi mahi or salmon. I've noticed that the fish is often over-cooked with a tendency to be very dry. You have to drown it in sauce to make it palatable, which ultimately defeats the entire point of coming here. My side of choice is usually the grilled zucchini (just because I really enjoy zucchini), but because of the way the strips are cut here, they are frequently soggy. The rice that's served with most of their dishes seems under-cooked to me. The one item that I legitimately enjoyed here were the shrimp tacos. The shrimp were spicy and well-seasoned. Food often takes a long time to be prepared and they can get pretty busy during typical lunch hours. You can't beat the convenience of this location as it's walking distance from my office, but that's really the only upside. Parking in this shopping center is an absolute nightmare.

The food is delicious and so is the customer service, especially the server named Ashley. She is very courteous, friendly, and helpful. Ashley treats customers like royalty. You can't go wrong on any meal choice here, particularly with Jose on the grill. One of my favorites is the grilled salmon. I also like the Piri Piri Burger with sweet potato fries as well as the tilapia fish sandwich. Listening to smooth jazz while enjoying my meal is the icing on the cake!

Excellent food with healthy options available. Recently went in with my Groupon which allowed two meals for $10. That was a great deal for food that was double the price. We were not disappointed at all. Very nice staff and they are very efficient. I will definitely go again.

Edit: I went back, the owner was there, was very nice, said he explained to staff what the large "gluten friendly" wall poster actually meant, comped my meal, etc. So they are okay in my book. I think our office ordered delivery a few times but I never went back in. They tout a gluten menu but have no idea what it means, aside from a marketing gimmick. Last week we ordered take out at the office and we were all quite pleased. I explained that I am very allergic to gluten and they were helpful. Great! New favorite spot...nope. I should explain, my allergy is somewhat recent, and I am more than understanding that no restaurant has food for me...unless the restaurant advertises a large menu on wall and website that says its GF...then I kind of expect at least one person on the shift to know wI am also really easy to please and truly appreciate any effort waitstaff goes to to ensure I am not sickened, and tip generously as I know special accommodations are a pain. So, anyway. Went in today. Cashier looks at me crazy and asks the manager, Mary, what "glued green" is. She correctly interprets as gluten free and says its the large menu to the right, and to ring me up normally and they would prepare accordingly in the kitchen. My food comes. I ordered salmon with asparagus, but there's rice on my plate, all over the other foods, which I learned from whatever truly helpful employee that I spoke with last week is seasoned with something I cannot have (don't know what, just that it wasn't GF). I politely ask Mary if the rice is safe, and she apologizes and returns it to kitchen. It is brought back out. There is still rice on the fish and asparagus. I can't eat it. I return it to the cashier and inform her that I can't eat it because it will make me sick. As just yesterday I had an anaphylactic reaction to some unknown substance and am still kind of itchy, I really can't risk any contamination and am no longer eating there. She has an attitude. Tells cook "she don't want you to remake it for some reason I guess" and says she doesn't know how to do a refund. "MARY! MARYYYYY! THIS GIRL WANT A REFUND!" she yells to the back. She dumps the food somewhat angrily, and I stand there awkwardly. She walks off. Mary didn't come. I was already 45 minutes into my break and still needed to go to Publix for a frozen dinner to eat at my desk, so I left. I called corporate to get my $14 refunded. No answer. I'll try again on Monday and update. Bottom line, staff isn't well trained or very professional. Like I said, I'm generally easy to please and understand if mistakes are made with my food...but they should be corrected. Hopefully corporate has a better attitude than the employees.

Really Yelp?! Really,......!!!! What is the big MoFo deal about Boneheads. It is an alternative place to get faster seafood but this can't touch other places like Pappadeaux or Marietta Fish Market. Healthier costs, remember that. As far as the veggies that they serve, you are better off going to the market and getting that for cheaper. It may be the best one in the Greater Atlanta but you can bet better food anywhere for the better value of the buck. Grade: C

Food is great, but the employees are very lazy. Let me explain: We arrived on Sunday, at around 6:50PM, May 15, 2011. They told us the place was closing. I watched as they turned six people away who came to the door, and saw it was locked even though the sign says 8pm. Also, the doors were completely locked, if there was a fire, we'd be in trouble. The employee was a black female, chubby, about 25 years old. The other employee was a black male, early 20s. And the required Hispanic cook.

4 stars!!!! This is delicious food with some Amazing sprinkled throughout the menu. My favorite is the fried catfish sandwich. It created an instant need to plan my next visit. The sandwich is huge. The lettuce and tomato is fresh. The remoulade sauce is fantastic. The service is ok. I want to say it is good, but I have had issues with this one worker who always seems do something to spoil what would be a great experience. Just yesterday, I decided to call in my order. The lady told me that it would be ready in 8 minutes. I got there in 11 minutes. So I walk in and give this same lady my name. She fiddles with the computer for a second and then walks into the back office. That is when I realized that my order had never been punched into the computer. She asked me if I wanted to wait 6 minutes. I'm thinking, "nah not really, that is why I called it in". But for the catfish? yes my friends I will wait. Good thing for them their food is so delicious. It ended up taking 8-10 more minutes, not 6. The lady never did apologize, but the sandwich did. So that ought to let you know how good the food is. For the record, I'm only giving them 4 stars because I don't see the option for 3 1/2. 4 and 5 stars are reserved for Amazing food. But the sandwich I ate was Amazing. The rest of the stuff I have had in the past is just delicious. So don't be confused by the stars.

Been here many many times as it is so close to home. The fish is always fresh, properly cooked and very tasty. The best selections in my opinion are the mahi mahi, grouper and snapper when available. I usually get a grilled fish sandwich which is served on a fresh bun with lettuce, tomato and piri piri mayo. Yum! Side dishes are average to above average but my favorite is the asian slaw. Piri piri chicken is very tasty but occasionally overcooked. Overall Boneheads is a very affordable and tasty place to eat.

This is a fast food place offering both seafood and chicken. You place your order at the counter and they'll bring the food to your table when it's ready. The cashier was super friendly and nice. Tons of regulars came in while we waited for our food and raved about the place. Boneheads Shrimps $8 - These reminded me of the Bang Bang shrimp from Bone Fish. They were really good, crunchy and smothered in sauce. New England Clam Chowder $4/cup - The soup was hearty and delicious.

Bonehead's is my #1 favorite spot when visiting Atlanta. Everything on the menu is delicious and the servings size makes it all worth the visit. I honestly eat here several times when I'm in town. I really miss that the Boca Raton, FL location closed.

My girlfriend and I went to Bonehead's for the first time today. I told Valerie that we had never been there before and she cheerfully walked us right through the menus helping us pick out our lunch. I had a fish sandwich and my girlfriend had the better choice of grouper with rice and asparagas. I ordered a cup of clam chowder which was so good I would not share. We were stuffed and felt so healthy that we didn't even stop for donuts. It would not have been that great an experience without Valarie.

This is my go to lunch spot when my coworkers and I try to eat semi healthy. I love anything that they grill bc, I'm a fan of the charbroiled flavor. With grilled catfish and chicken you can't go wrong. I normally pair it with a Cesar salad or fried okra :) They are reasonably priced for the portion size, and although they normally get really busy during the lunch rush the line moves pretty fast. The owner is pretty friendly and accommodating as well.

Boneheads serves grilled fish and chicken dishes. This is a fast casual restaurant and one of the healthier alternatives in the area. As you stand in line to place your order, you can watch the cooks grill meats, vegetables, and fruits from behind the glass. There is a specials menu at the entrance (a blackboard) and the standard menu is located above the cash registers. When you've placed your order, you're given a number to set inside a placeholder at your table so the servers know where to find you. You get drinks (fountain), silverware, napkins, and condiments yourself. I went on a weekday for lunch with my coworkers and the restaurant had a steady flow of customers, mostly office workers like us. There's plenty of seating, both inside the restaurant and out on the covered and fanned patio. I ordered one of their specials because it sounded very intriguing, the Piri Piri chicken sloppy joe. It was a Piri Piri chicken sandwich with fresh cole slaw and Bonehead's aioli sauce (with a hint of Piri Piri) on top. The manager told us this was a special sauce that they also toss their signature shrimp dish in. It was tasty and the meat was seasoned well. The slaw was thick, more sliced than chopped, and heavy on the carrots. I also tried Boneheads' grilled pineapples. As a side, the plate comes with three medium-sized slices of pineapples that were both juicy and tangy. Yum. We also shared orders of their fried zucchini strips and fried okra. These sides came with a tartar-like sauce, which was great for dipping. The zucchini strips and okra were deep-fried, but were not salted. This made them lighter and healthier, though still a bit oily. Each table has three kinds of Piri Piri sauce, which you can add to any of your meats. Some of the main ingredients of this sauce are lemon and vinegar, so it's tangy. The sauces range in spiciness from mild to spicy. Overall, Boneheads is not a bad place to grab a quick and healthy meal.

The food here is delicious. Often times - when you're dining out and having grilled food - it equals boring and bland - but not at Boneheads. The grilled chicken and salmon are my favorites. I usually get a side of grilled zuchinni and rice. Everyone I've ever dragged here has become an instant fan. Service can be a little slow during lunch hour and the parking is a little limited otherwise this would be my number one lunch spot.

  • Alecia B.

The servers are friendly and helpful in explaining the menu. The fried catfish and zucchini are my faves. Such flavor- and, the food comes out fast! The grilled fish items are also good. Prices are reasonable. If you are looking for quick, healthy, and tasty, this is a great option.

A great lunch spot for sure. Went here and got the chicken taco combo and I must say, I was really impressed - I like the food here - a lot. They have side options that you don't normally find anywhere else - grilled zucchini, asparagus, rice - all sorts of awesome stuff. It IS a little pricey, but a great alternative from the typical fast food crap that makes up the area.

  • Lucy W.

Soft tacos- great cabbage & lettuce mix and your choice of filling (chicken, sauteed fish or shrimp)- good choice for lunch, though I would have like the fish to be in bigger pieces like a more traditional soft fish taco. I also liked the large zucchini strips for the sides. I was not as big a fan on the sauces that were displayed at each table, including the much mentioned piri piri sauce. You order at the counter, are given a number to display at the table of your choosing, and they'll bring you your food. Efficient and convenient. Overcharged me by $2 though...just noticed it when I looked at my receipt. Hmmm

I like piri piri chicken - I had a shedload of it at Nando's, a piri piri chain that is all over the UK. So I thought that this might be as good. It was good, but it wasn't the same. I had the hummus trio to start - three big scoops of hummus with a lot of pita bread triangles and feta cheese and diced tomatoes. Excellent and more than enough for two to share. At the same time, my chicken breast arrived with a big pot of asian cole slaw and a mountain of yellow rice. The chicken was covered (completely covered) in a hot sauce that tasted like nothing but fire. No real flavor, just heat. I was able to scrape it off and enjoy the chicken. Coke soda fountain and urns of iced tea. Good service by a friendly counter girl who brought the food over.

Well done! Love the healthy choices and tastier than most white table cloth type places. I had the grilled wild salmon and was so impressed. I'm new to Atl from Chicago and will go out of my way find this place again. The manager also took my order and walked me through the high-end, self-order menu. Great customer service. Greek salad was made with authentic ingredients from Kalamata olives Thank you.

Might sound strange but these guys have one of the best burgers I've had and I eat a lot of burgers...better than Flip, Teds, Yeah Burger, Farm Burger, Moxie or US Cafe or that joke of a burger joint Cheeseburger Bobby's... But this place rocks a burger with sweet potato fries... Been there 3 times and get the same thing every time... Go there hungry and be prepared to waddle to you car. ..My girlfriend got the fish and chips once...which was good... But the burger... Mmmmmm, the burger...the Groupon deal is unbeatable...

My lunch cost about $13. I ordered the 1/2 chicken with rice and asparagus. The anemic looking chicken was beyond dry. I almost choked to death! The sauce was yellow and very vinegary- totally horrid. The asparagus was great- too bad it was stone cold. My iced tea was fabulous! The place was packed maybe I ordered the wrong thing;(.

I've been to this place, and this particular location more times than I can count. This is the best one in metro Atlanta, in my opinion-fast service, great portions, great owner. Boneheads is a great alternative to typical fast food. You get your order in around the same amount of time that you would spend in a burger place, but you get fish or chicken with your choice of a topping (my fave is the pineapple salsa!) You get a side of yellow rice, and a vegetable (try the asparagus). Must try - sweet potato fries, salmon or talapia, pineapple salsa, jumbo asparagus. Oh, and if you're a frequent visitor like me, don't forget to pick up a rewards card, after the 10th stamp, you get a free entre!

Great healthy lunch option as this place is near my office. I always get the piri piri chicken or the Greek salad, and both are great. The only thing I don't like about this place is the wait is always long for the food. I suppose that means it's fresh though! I started calling ahead and ordering to go and suggest the same if you're short on time.

  • Mary M.

We've been here before and they do know how to cook fish. Today, we had fish and chips and unfortunately, the fish and the fries both have some kind of seasoning...maybe cajun sprinkled all over them. This makes one taste pretty much the same as the other. At least that is our opinion. The sauce that accompanies the fish - which is perfectly done with perfect breading - is also nondescript. We tested all the Piri-piri sauces and the mild was the best but, as it is also hot spiced it didn't help all the other spiced foods. So, for $9.50 we had 4 delicious pieces of breaded Talapia (so said the waitress) and only a few fries. Seems expensive for 4 pieces of fish. The service was excellent.

I got a whole chicken with a side of grilled zucchini, clam chowder, and fish and chips. The price of the food is really worth it for what you get. The chicken came with seasoned rice, which could be a whole meal itself. I got the lemon & herb chicken, which was good. The flavoring was on the outside, and the meat did not taste marinated. The food is freshly made, and you can see them grill the meat and vegetables through a glass screen to the kitchen. The clam chowder had a good amount of bite size pieces of clams, I was quite surprised, however I will not be ordering it again because it contained way too much heavy cream, I felt like I was drinking heavy cream. The fish from the fish and chips was very moist. It is not your typical battered fish, but a breadcrumb style. Overall, not bad, and I will be visiting this place again, especially because of it's convenient location.

Ate at this location of Boneheads yesterday and it was ok. It wasn't as good as the Perimeter location, but it was still good. I had the Piri Piri Chicken Tacos and Grilled Asparagus. The tacos were pretty good, but I could have done without the asparagus. I did sample some of the zucchini fries and they were very good. The lady that was cooking and delivering the food to the table did a great job, she was really on the ball. But the high school looking kid that was running the register was just plain sorry, he was sitting at a table talking to customers when we came in, acted like he was doing us a favor when he rang us up, and then went back to sit with the girls at the table he was at when we came in. All while the cook was cooking the food, delivering the food, and cleaning tables. If not for this, then I would have given 4 stars.
