I love this place for two reasons: cheap tacos and great margaritas. I wouldn't say it's authentic Mexican food, it's more fresh mex but it's amazing for what it is. The tacos are priced so low (under $4) because they are tapas sized portions. The carne adobo tacos have a small bit of spice from the red pepper and guajillo marinade is well balanced with the cilantro, onion, garlic and lime. This is by far my favorite. The beef burria taco was very good as well. The beef brisket and fresh cabbage slaw had a crunchy texture and smokey taste that paired well together. The side of salsa verde is mild but brings another set of great flavors. If you like fish tacos and you don't mind spice then pescado negro is a tilapia taco that brings the heat. I'm not big on really spicy food but I do like some heat if it bring out other flavors and adds to the dish. This does just that. The tilapia is grilled with guajillo peppers that paired really well with the fresh pico de gallo. Their margaritas are some of the best in the city. If you want to save money they have pitchers of house margaritas for $24, or a glass is $6.50. Their Texas is more expensive and uses Grand Marnier and orange juice ($8.50). These are ok, but use a sour mix where as their premium varieties cost about $10 but are all fresh ingredients and do not use sour mix. Did I mention they are strong? You will drink one and order a second but somehow by the time you get it you will be questioning you life decisions. It's ok, after the second you won't care anymore. This is one of the better spots to eat and drink cheap in Atlanta, and the atmosphere and decor are about as unique as the city. Check it out for yourself.

They try to fit 4people in 2people table!! Food attended not trained or in a wrong place.. Don't monitor the tables for cleaning etc. (After all you don't have enough room on the small table begin with.). They don't suggest any. Food price are high for below average food. You have to pay for Chips-salsa... Why?? Also someone please water those dieing plants on the hall way. It doesn't give good impression.

YUM! Had lunch at Bone Garden Cantina for the second time this year, and it was two for two! Great atmosphere, very good service, and delicious food! To start with, get the Salsa trio, it won't disappoint. The smoky chipoltle and grilled tomatillo salsas will dance in your mouth! For vegetarians (and carnivores!) the Flor de Jamaica is a hit. Who would have known that hibiscus flowers taste so good?!! The cactus con queso taco is also yummy. Only negative? They need to move north and create a second location in Gwinnett County!

The food here is pretty good, but I was really disappointed by the Red Goat Soup. It sounded delicious in the menu but was salty and had a bitter aftertaste. The service here is generally pretty good. They get really busy at night despite being located in a random industrial complex. I came with a large party (~15) last time and we had to wait about an hour to get seated and an hour to get our food.

Still my favorite place in atlanta. Goat soup is amazing. The corn...just get it. Whether in a bowl or on the cob. Be surprised and happy! Today for the fish and beef taco. Always perfect. Always happy.

I came to Bone Garden after a friend mentioned that it was the best Mexican food in Atlanta. As a sucker for Mexican food, I HAD to try. When I got into the restaurant, I thought I was walking into an office building place. But then, you get closer to the restaurant, the whole mood changes. Even the patrons were happy to be waiting to be seated. Once I sat down, and got to experience Bone Garden, i was not disappointed. The food was appetizing and did not lack any flavor. I don't remember ever having a guacamole that tastes better in a restaurant in GA. Everything about the food was perfect. The service was not lacking. Even though the restaurant was full, the servers were on point. Conclusion: mouthwatering food, enjoyable mood, and great service.

Oddly enough, a colleague that lives out of state told me about Bone Garden Cantina. And I'm glad she did. I haven't ordered much from the menu, because I'm obsessed with the Citrus Shrimp Empanadas. I just keep ordering them two by two until I'm stuffed (even while I write this review I'm fighting the urge to drive there right now). The guac is chunky and flavorful, and I like the chips as well. I did venture outside my norm and order the Pescado Negro (grilled fish taco), and it tasted fresh and spicy. But those empanadas, tho...YES. And as a self-proclaimed lush, I love that their drinks are super potent. BRB, I'm hungry all of a sudden...

My husband and I had been here on Saturday evening.. This place was completely packed, waited 15mins to be seated but it was worth waiting!! Interior decor is so unique and amazing. We started with 3 amigos: chips with guac, cheese dip and salsa. All three were good but it was too much for two of us, couldn't finish it all. Then we had flor de Jamaica and cactus con quest both tacos were fresh and tasty! The elote was creamy and delicious.. Nom nom nom...

I visited Bone Garden today during my lunch hour and really enjoyed the experience. To find the restaurant, you'll have to park and walk through the office space, or drive all the way around the property, as Bone Garden is tucked away in the corner. Pros: - Excellent vibe - Cool wall art - Food was served quickly - Friendly service Cons: - Chips and salsa are not complimentary like most Mexican-inspired restaurants. Overall, I would definitely visit this place again for lunch and maybe drinks after work.

Came in on Cinco De Mayo with the BF. Super crowded but moved fast. Beer was tasty and so was the margarita. I love Mexican food and will definately go back but not on such a crowded day.

The location is a little obscure, sketchy even at night. West midtown in what seems like a office complex. But once inside, you're immersed in the colorful South of the Border atmosphere! Dia de Los Muertos style artwork, low lighting and lively music. Food-wise, one of the better Mexican restaurants I've been to in Atlanta. Lots of taco options, typical Mexican entrees and some interesting salads and sides. An extensive tequila list, plenty of margaritas and some other cocktails as well.

A group of 9 of us dined here on a Saturday afternoon. We agreed to meet at 5pm, thinking that we could beat the crowds, and we were terribly, terribly wrong. The place was totally and completely packed when we arrived. How many people want to eat Mexican food as a late lunch or early dinner? This many people, it seems--enough to fill up Bone Garden. The restaurant is a bit hard to find, nestled in the very back corner of a warehouse-looking establishment of office spaces. Luckily, I followed a car with a driver who sped by and seemed to know where he was going, so I followed, hoped for the best, and voila!, signs of Mexican food appeared. We were not allowed to be seated until our entire party arrived, which was no big deal because we had to wait for a table anyway. Once seated, we enjoyed quick service. Our server expedited every single part of our meal and somehow did not skip a beat. Within moments, coasters were on the table, waters were out, margaritas were out, and before you know it, he was taking food orders. They really know what they're doing here. From reading all the awesome reviews of this place, I knew I had so many options and wanted to try everything--which I pretty much did. I had the following: -Three Amigos: queso dip, guacamole, and salsa fresca -Esquite: tender corn, served in a bowl, topped with mayonnaise, chili powder, queso fresco, and lime -Carne Adobo taco: grilled steak marinated in guajillo chile, crushed red pepper and garlic, topped with cilantro and onion -Chicharron taco: pork belly seasoned and slow fried to crispy nirvana, topped with onion, cilantro, salsa verde, and fresh cabbage -Holy Chorizo Empanada: stuffed with chorizo, Monterey jack cheese, and scallions -Pollo Diablito: Corn masa filled with chicken, tomato and chile sauce, and chipotle peppers, steamed in a corn husk From my assessment, it seems like Bone Garden does some things very well and some things not-so-well. I loved everything about the dips: the queso was delicious and on-point, the guacamole was loaded with fresh ingredients, and the salsa was addicting. The tamale--also very, very good: perfectly seasoned and spicy, it's an adventure in your mouth. The not-so-well dishes included the Esquite, which I'm sure when enjoying this delicacy in a bowl, the experience is expected to be sub-par, but nothing in the bowl seemed to jive together: cold cheese, lukewarm corn, watery on the bottom, clumpy on top--this wasn't my favorite. Both tacos were okay but not exceptionally good or special. The empanada, which I was most looking forward to, seemed to miss the mark the most: slightly overcooked, dry, and small, this was the most lackluster part of my meal. I'm reiterating some things are great here: service, dips, tamale, while some things aren't so great. I'd love to return again, and now I'll be better equipped with knowledge of what to order!

Bone Garden is at the top of my list when it comes to Mexican joints. I loved everything we ordered, the decor was great, and they had a solid outdoor patio. Our table shared the chimichangas, pork torta, and a couple tamales. Personally I thought the chimichangas were amazing. I'd have no problem ordering that again. The torta and tamales were solid too, but those chimichangas are worth the drive. We ordered dessert and shared the flan and banana empanada. Both were really really good, even though the empanada was a little small.

Bones garden cantina is one of those places that I have never even heard of before I RSVP'd for 'Never have I ever' UYE series. It already has close to 500 4 star reviews, so I am not going to dwell on too many aspects of food that other have already covered. This is my experience dining with 9 other friends at the restaurant on a Saturday evening. To give a background, this place is run by a husband and wife team who wanted it to be 'The place' for authentic Mexican restaurant in Atlanta. Prologue on their menu mentions that everything is made from scratch with freshet ingredients. Also, before going to this restaurant as a group, it's worth to read through rules(last page of menu pdf) to avoid any misunderstanding. Don't worry, it was funny and tastefully written. So on that day we got there at 5 pm. You see, they don't take reservations and We thought it would help us skip the dinner crowd and would be seated right away. Boy were we wrong! It was fully packed at 5 pm but that turned out to be okay. We basically just hung out at the bar until they could seat us. It was at least before 30 mins before we were seated but drinks and the company made it quite fun to be honest. I had house margarita, which I thought wasn't too bad for the price($6.25). The decor of the restaurant was done in the theme of 'Day of the Dead' Mexican holiday, a festival that is celebrated with friends and family! So be ready to see skulls painted everywhere. I thought it was cool. During my visit we have tasted following items 1) Ceviche 2) Three Amigos 3) Red Goat Soup 4) Esquite 5) Chicharron Taco 6) Chile Picante 7) Pollo Diablito Tamale **Ceviche - Bone Garden's version is made from citrus marinated tilapia, red pepper, onion, serrano pepper and topped with avocado. It's slightly less citrusy than ceviche I have had before from other places. While it's not the best, I liked it on it own. But my friend who always orders ceviche if it's on menu wasn't impressed. **Three amigos - tortilla chips served with three different dips - Queso, salsa fresco and guacamole dip. Among three, I think queso dip would be my best amigo. It had perfect heat, thanks to jalapenos, and creaminess. Salsa fresco and guacamole dip were just standard affair and it was good. **Red Goat Soup - it was made with shredded goat, onion, garlic, mint and rice in a Chile de Arbol & guajillo chile based broth. The chile de Arbol chile has heat index ranging between 15,000 to 30,000 scoville units - so be warned that this one packs a lot of heat and dried guajillo chile packs a lot of flavor to compliment the heat. I mean, they mean business here - order only if you can take the heat. South-Indian me didn't find it as spicy and I loved it. For just $4, it's definite no-brainer if you like some heat. My favorite of the night. **Esquite - boiled corn served in a small bowl and topped with mayonnaise, pinch of chili powder, lots of queso fresco and a wedge of lime. It's a nice side dish to compliment spicy items I have ordered. **Chicharron taco - Crispy, slow fried pork belly chunks served with onion, cilantro cabbage. I liked it but not much to write home about. **Chile picante taco - tender cooked chicken topped with spicy salsa and onion. The salsa packed a lot of heat, so obviously I liked it but caution if you don't like much heat. ** Pollo diablito tamale - This was my second favorite dish of the night. At first glance it was just a standard affair - corn masa filled with chicken, steamed in corn husk. But tomato, chile sauce and chipotle peppers adds nice kick and flavor to this dish. Overall, I think it's a no nonsense Mexican restaurant but prices of items and drinks can be slightly lower.

This is one busy spot. And it's cozy (which means kinda small). I have to say that I love the decor, very cool. So, I ordered for my meal a shrimp empanada, a steak taco, and the corn on the cob, all gringo style. That means flour tortillas and no mayo on the cob. Also, I gringo-ed the names as well; this is not how this stuff was named on the menu. Whatever. Onward. I enjoyed most of the meal. The steak taco was really good with a good amount of steak in that sucker. I wolfed that down quickly. However, it was small for $3.75. I love corn on the cob, but corn on cob grilled with butter, cheese, and chili powder is heaven. I didn't care for the empanada simply because the filling was very salty. I'm thinking that someone went crazy on seasoning the shrimp. Anyway, it ruined that item. The house margarita was done well. I got to try a lot of other items as my dining mates, as usual, are awesome sharers (I love my Yelp comrades! Like, so much). I tried red goat soup, avocado dip, salsa, queso dip, banana empanada, ceviche, and churros. I enjoyed the red goat soup and would order that on a next visit. I thought the salsa was good and fresh. The avocado dip tasted bland to me. The queso dip was a winner and had a spicy kick to it. Couldn't stay out of it. The ceviche tasted fresh and light. That banana empanada was excellent. I want that again and again and again. Next, yes to the churros. Happy taste buds indeed. Not the easiest place to find, you need to turn into the lofts off of Ellsworth. It's in there. Our server was great. He separated our checks and took cards even though they claim they don't do such things for larger parties. Food came out fast. Overall, I think I'll be back here again. Thanks to Will and Samantha for setting this up. I had a great time!

Sorry Nuevo Lareo, I think I've found a new westside Mexican spot. Came here on a Saturday night and only had to wait about 15 min. for a table (they don't take reservations). You gotta get the chips and salsa - some of the best in ATL. I ordered the red goat soup and OMG it was so amazing I'll be dreaming about it until I can have it again. $4 for a huge bowl that fills you up - perfectly spicy and so so good! I also ordered a chorizo empanada that was pretty good but the dipping sauce was just "bleh." My husband enjoyed his tacos - very generous portions, none of that wimpy taqueria del sol crap. He also loved the elote. We'll definitely be back! Gotta get my red goat soup fix.

My favorite Mexican restaurant in Atlanta! Great food at very low prices, friendly wait staff, delicious and extensive menu of drinks, and amazingly awesome interior decorations. I'd give them 5 stars if they were open on Sunday's, weren't in the middle of an industrial estate, and drinks were a bit cheaper.

I loooooooove BGC! So much so that I don't even want to tell you about it. Here is what I will tell you... It's small. Really small. And super busy. You need to get there super early or super late, otherwise be prepared to wait. The drinks are yum. I sat at the bar and watched the bartenders working and they hustle. The bar was packed and they were constantly making orders at a fast pace, but I never felt neglected. They were great about making eye contact and getting you your drinks. Food comes out super fast. The vibe is definitely not your typical Mexican restaurant. It's Americanized. I love the vibe and this will quickly become one of my favorite spots.

No reservations accepted. Be sure to arrive with the whole group before y'all are seated (check out the hilarious page of rules at the back of the menu). Salsa: tomatoes. Nothing spectacular. Guacamole: did not look the most fresh but came with big chunks. Queso: creamy and delicious. The chips are thin and all-right, just an instrument to scoop up that queso that is not too thick but also not too thin. It has a bit of a spicy kick to it because it has jalapenos. Thumbs up. Red goat soup: star of the day, ties with the queso. The meat was tender. The soup was adequately spicy. The soaked rice was flavorful and fluffy. Ceviche: fresh. Not as sour as I expected for something that was citrus-marinated and came with a slice of lime (which I squeezed the heck out of). Small portion for $6. Chicharron: crispy pork belly. May be too "crispy". Some parts of it were so hard that it was hard to chew. Shrimp verde: plump succulent shrimp. The mole sauce didn't stand out much. Pollo diablito: Nothing small about this. My bite of this consisted of a red pepper and I got very friendly with why this was named "diablito".. my mouth was on firrrreee! (Nothing requiring instant antidote though). Chile picante: comes with habanero or chili de arbol. I took the 'cautious' route and got the "less spicy" habanero. After trying the pollo, this tasted like it didn't even have any peppers. The heat did kick in at the end though. The menu is quite extensive with many options, ranging from ok to great! Grateful to try different items. Thanks, Will and Sam, for organizing!

I have been to BG numerous times and never left a review yet. I usually go to this location because other people want to go. It is a super odd location. It is behind a warehouse district area. It has a great outdoor patio area that you can sit at and the decor inside is epic. It is like a day-of-the-dead theme going on... super fun. Service and food: The service can be hit or miss. I have had great servers and servers that I thought may be a blind/deaf combination because I just cannot get their attention. We always order chips and guac or cheese dip. Its pretty good, but a lot of times you only can get one basket of chips... so there is always leftover dip unless you make an effort to overload each chip... The food: beware it is INSANELY SPICY. Almost everything on the menu is super spicy... even when it doesn't say it is. This is not only my opinion, but the opinion of many people who have gone with me who say that they enjoy spicy food. When I asked the server for a recommendation of a food that was less spicy, she informed me that there were two tacos that were more mild. They were the brisket and the chicken ones. The chicken was pretty good but the brisket had an odd texture/juice, almost greasy... not the way brisket should be. Honestly after the last time, I don't think I will join, even if that is where everyone else is going.

Really enjoyed the atmosphere here, they really tried on the food but I don't think they can compete with the other upscale Mexican restaurants like nuevo laredo cantina yet. Chips and salsa were very good. Sangria was ok. Entrees: Pollo al Limon , this didn't work for me . I think they should take off menu Pollo Guerrerro , this was ok. Rice and beans were meh. Plenty of parking. Great Decor. Location off the beaten path in live/work lofts area.

Wow! So glad we checked out this hidden gem. Sat on the patio in matthew's section. He was fantastic--- attentive but cool, just let us enjoy our time and seemed to know exactly when we wanted him to come by. Food was fantastic and came out in great time-- never felt rushed or delayed. All fresh and hot. I'm from CA originally? And this is the best Mexican food I've had outside if CA. Had the red goat soup, barbacoa de Chivo taco, and puerco tamale. My husband also had a pork belly taco and thought it was delicious! We had margaritas--ordered house but at matthew's suggestion, swapped for something fresh and without sour mix. Great recommendation. We split an almond flan for dessert. We were too full to breathe but it was worth it Ambiance was really cool. Day of the dead decor inside. Nice, airy patio with music outside. Can't wait to come back in another warm day.

High expectations!!... sadly fell short from being a hidden gem to a just average want to be authentic mexican restaurant. After watching the restaurant on travel channel me and my wife were anxious to visit the place and we said " the next time we go to Atlanta we'll definitely going" and there we went straight from Orlando, FL ; we're foodies and we thrive on finding good places to eat, we're tired of bad and mediocre food, so we gave Bone garden cantina a shot, my wife, sister and me went there last night and we ordered the chips and salsa and the guacamole to start accompanied with tamarind aguas and horchata which was actually good, then we ordered birria, chivo, lengua and adobo tacos with diablito tamal, elote, mucho queso quesadilla, rice and pinto beans and asked for spicier sauce; some of the tortillas tasted rancid probably from the oil/lard, sauces were good, flavor was there, but lack of season, the tacos were good, not great, meats were cooked properly, then again, flavors were there, but lack of season, the tamal was good, loved the smoky flavor although the dough was a little too tough, the elote was delicious and the quesadilla was average. Overall, we had an average good time, loved the decor/art all around, service was average as well as waiting time. I'm disappointed, I must have been influenced by others reviews! !

This place has THE BEST Mexican food in ATL. We keep forgetting to go on a Saturday for Churros, but the smoky margarita does the trick too. We haven't had everything, but can attest that the lemon-chicken taco, goat taco, and beef tamale are all excellent. However my hands-down favorite is the Mexican corn. I dream about it.

I am impressed with Bone Garden Cantina's consistent good ratings through the years. Just before I started writing my own opinion--which does not count for too much, seeing as this place is about to reach 400 reviews--I read some of my Yelp friends' reviews, with some of them dating back to to 2008. Whatever it is that they are doing, they are doing it right. Bone Garden certainly has its own atmosphere, with the colorful skeleton décor and interesting artwork throughout. I came here to meet Panida S. for lunch and was slightly confused when I parked and walked up to the complex's directory. My eyes bugged out. AirWatch? What? I worked at this rapidly-growing software company last year and thought they had opened another office. But in actuality, it was their original office (which they may assume again) and once I got over that, I scanned for Bone Garden and found that it was adjacent to the former AW office. I arrived a bit earlier than Panida, which is almost unheard of. I just hung around the front door and we got seated as she came in just a minute or two after me. Service was friendly and after looking over the menu for a couple of minutes and hearing Panida's comments and suggestions, we placed our order and spent the time between the order-taking and the food's arrival to catch up. Jang C. is exactly right in calling this Tex-Mex food which leans more on the Mexican side. I chose the chicken tamal and sope with pork rinds. When my plate came, I was slightly concerned that I overestimated the portion size but once I dug into my tamal, I knew it was perfect. The tamal was served with a wedge of lime, which I squirted on top of my tamal. The masa of the tamal was yummy with a good amount of well-seasoned chicken in the middle. I was nervous about the sope, as I had never eaten one before. I was moved by Panida's recommendation and when I sunk my teeth into the cheese, spicy chicharrón, and the crispy sope (which is like an über-thick tortilla with a depressed center for filling), I knew I had picked the right thing. By the time I cleared my plate, I was pleasantly full without feeling like I had gorged myself. Water kept flowing during the meal, which I was grateful for, since I usually drink 3-4 glasses of water with my meal. If anyone else wants me to meet for lunch here, I'm down!

Most amazing food ever!! This is my new favorite restaurant! With the awareness if my gluten sensitivity, there were plenty of delicious options for me :-) This was my first time having tamales and being introduced to Mezcal. I am Must trys - FOOD: chips and salsa, red goat soup, citrus shrimp empanadas, pollo diablito tamales, and barbacoa de chico. Drinks: All of the signature cocktails we tried were phenomenal. Ask for Shannon, Matt, Adobi, or Natalie!

This restaurant is a lot smaller than I expected, but my god, I love the decor in this place. Since we had some down time (30 minutes), we waited at the bar and also had an anxious cigarette outside near the entrance, which has a great industrial feel to it. Once we sat down, we ordered the salsa as an appetizer, which was superb. I'm used to going to Mexican restaurants that serve free chips and salsa, but I didn't mind cus I didn't pick up the check, ha. My favorite kind of dining is ordering a whole bunch of different meals and this place is meant just for that. We ordered a side of rice, the chicken empanada (my favorite), the chicken tamale (superb), a bunch of tacos, and they also had this side of guacamole sauce which was awesome. One thing that I did mind was the corn esquite, which was topped with mayo, chili powder, cheese, and lime juice. Mayo is one of those condiments I absolutely hate, but in very small portions I'm fine with, but the esquite was literally swimming with mayo and the smell was just putrid. I know mayo in corn is supposed to be authentic, but it's just not for people like me. Anyway, I will stay away from the mayonnaise and come back next time for the mole!

Bone Garden Cantina is wonderful. I am typically not someone who enjoys eating at Mexican themed establishments, but this place is different. It has a slight hipster feel to it and I'm all about hipsters. (Red by Taylor Swift was a great album.) I highly suggest getting the chips and trio salsa. All 3 sauces are to DIE for. Especially the chipotle flavored salsa. I ordered 3 soft corn tacos at 3.75 a piece which sounded expensive, but I struggled to finish the 3rd. These tacos are packed with so much food that I could barely finish my meal. The house margarita is delicious for only $6. My only caution is to be careful about the hot sauce. It is super good, but it can possibly ruin your next day in the office. BEWARE!

Nice place, but need to update the menu on yelp. I called to order for pickup and the person on the phone was not helpful at all. Long story short, I had to call 3 times to come up with an order that I wanted and by then I was already discouraged therefor I went to eat somewhere else. Maybe they were busy but she just picked up and said look at the menu and call back (every time I called).

the service was kinda slow but I guess because it was a friday evening and it was kinda packed. We sat outside which was nice. The chips, cheese dip and salsa weren't the best. The tacos we had were great!

I went here with 2 aunts and my mother last fall. All I can say is you have got to try this place. The decor is awesome and the sangria pitcher was fantastic. We ordered a variety of al la carte items which may be the only way they do it. The tamales were so good we ordered an extra one! Everything was fantastic. I wish it was closer to Duluth, GA but it's well worth the drive into Atlanta to have a fun evening.

An explosion of color and off beat Day of the Dead décor with lots of whimsical skeletons, create an unusually fun atmosphere. But it's the food that made me fall in love with Bone Garden Cantina. It's billed as authentic Mexican, not Americanized, which means you won't get chips with salsa when you sit down. The menu is totally ala carte, which means you need to put some thought into your order, but you get to sample lots of different things. I chose a chorizo empanada (wonderful and my favorite), a brisket enchilada (excellent) and a shrimp sope, a corn masa cup topped with sautéed garlic shrimp, guajillo peanut sauce, refried black beans, cabbage, cilantro and queso fresco (dry and not something I'd order again). My partner loved the ceviche and the chicharron taco, but the tongue taco didn't live up to his expectations. Even those items we didn't fall in love with popped with fresh flavor. If you've been to Agave, then you've found the city's best margarita, but these were pretty darn good. So good we needed a pitcher! Waits on the weekend are long, noise levels are high, but it's such a fun, engaging place you really don't mind. What you remember is the food.

Bone Garden has been on my radar for a while. However, its location on the Westside makes it far from the first choice when considering where to have dinner. Glad we finally made it. In short, everything was either delicious or close to it. And the restaurant itself is pretty fun with the decor and all, although maybe a bit loud. I can't complain about the volume here, though. This is the sort of joint where you expect that. Barbacoa taco - excellent, and fairly big Chicken empanada - tasty, maybe a little dry Diablito chicken tamale - also tasty Elote - I thought the one I had at Big Tex in Decatur was decadent. This one wins out. Chips/salsa - I don't mind paying extra. The chips are fresh and crisp; the salsa too, although maybe it could be spicier. After devouring the salsa bowl, we actually upgraded to the trio, with guacamole and queso. Both of those were good too, especially the guacamole. Wife's cheese enchilada: "This is a great enchilada. GREAT enchilada" (She likes that turn of phrase, having used it recently with a latte). She also had the vegetarian sopa but couldn't make it through. Too much food. One thing I remarked on was the profusion of different sauces. Along with the salso/guac/quezo trio, four different sauces came with our various food items. All good in different ways.I like that. Texas margarita - not the strongest margarita in town but that's OK with me. Red wine - who drinks wine in a tequila joint? Well, they pour a pretty good cabernet. Service was outstanding. Exactly the right amount of attention. We'll be back. This is the best Mex-Tex place I've been to in Atlanta, which means the two best are within a couple of miles of each other (Nuevo Laredo).

Bone Garden Cantina exceeded my expectations! This place scores huge on service, atmosphere, food quality, and FLAVOR. Our server was friendly, engaging, and knowledgeable. A fellow foodie and I met for lunch, savored a couple tequila cocktails, nibbled on chips and the trio of salsa, guac, and queso (all of which were fresh and delicious), tried some tamales, corn with mayo, and shared a shrimp enchilada. Did we leave satisfied, bellies full, and yearning to returns? Yes! After finding the place (yes, it is hidden), I was quickly approached by server who seated me as I waited for my friend. I read the front of the menu, a quick history on the couple who owns the restaurant and a brief insight on their establishment, which I recommend reading and found very helpful being a first time visitor. The décor is very cool; think day of the dead. This place is surprisingly small on the inside, although I did notice a number of bar seats as I went to the restroom. The drink menu was vast and the cocktails delicious. As a self-admitted lightweight, I did have a small buzz after only 20% of my Corazon Ginger was gone. I was worried the ginger flavor might be overpowering but it had a strong, refreshing mint taste, and the perfect blend of citrus and tequila. They apparently know a thing or two about tequilas as well; they have quite the array to choose from. Everything we ate had more than impressive flavors. I had the chicken tamale. The temperature was hot, the flavors, smoky, and I scraped those corn husks clean. The shrimp enchilada was amazing. I always worry about mixing Mexican and seafood, but I'm amazed and impressed with how they make it work. Elote! Yes, corn on the cob, served traditional Mexican style with mayonnaise and chili powder. Again, the Three Amigos trio was fresh and flavorful as well, the chips a bit salty, but that didn't stop me from eating my fair share. My friend had the pork tamale, which she so graciously shared a bite with me. Our server recommended this over the chicken, and I would say the flavor was kicked up a notch in comparison, again, VERY delicious. The restaurant prides themselves in authentic Mexican cuisine, and they hit the mark. I am a huge fan of Nuevo Laredo, but I always get the chicken chimichanga there, which works because it is so darn tasty and consistent. What I really liked about this place is that they serve everything a la carte. Don't want rice and beans? No worries Amigo! And with sampling fare from different parts of the menu here and being so impressed, I will be back, again and again.

This is a delicious restaurant that I love to hate... only because of the prices. Most of the tacos are very close to spot on -- not the best, but delicious enough for the meat to soak into the tortillas and make them delicious. I like this restaurant. If I were rich, I would like it more. But considering Buford Highway is so close, and the same amount of delicious for less money, I have to give it only 3 stars.

The mezcal cocktail was great. The cheese dip was ok. However, the food was just average . I was disappointed especially since I saw it on the Travel Channel. I waited a couple month to go inside this place . This restaurant is in a weird location with a weird entrance. I wish the food was better . The banana empanadas were good .

Let me start by saying if the owners feel the need to put a message on the menu that states "If you don't tip your server, you are not welcome back" then you're in for who knows what. Our server greeted us and asked if we would like drinks and anything to start. I ignored her half closed "I just got off the Monday afternoon shift at the strip club" eyes and proceeded with my drink order with confidence. My fiancé and I had been here before and had a great experience on multiple occasions so I had no doubt everything would be fine. Drinks and chips came out promptly. About 40 minutes later we had neither been checked on nor did we have our meals. The place was not busy and given our timely experiences in the past I knew something was wrong. Another 10 minutes had gone by and my fiancé noticed his order had been sitting on the expo line for almost 15 minutes. He approached the bar and politely inquired of the waitress by the expo line about our order (our server was too busy talking to the host/security/doorman about why she couldn't keep her eyes open or why he chose that particular denim for his cutoff jorts) and asked that his order be made fresh. As we waited the aforementioned expo line lazy suzan alerted our server that we had been waiting on our food and were inquiring about it. Lazy eyes came over and informed us that "[she was] just doing what she was supposed to do" and went on to suggest she was "letting the kitchen do what they are supposed to do." Well ok then. Glad your didn't break any of your sweet golden rules, hun. We were then brought our plates by yet another lady (yes, a third). My fiancé asked if he could speak to the manager to which she replied she was the manager. He asked if he could have a fresh dish as he knew his had been sitting on the line for quite some time. Her response was "well we've been making a lot of salads" we knew that she was not going to make this situation any better. She then proceeded to smirk at this whole situation as though she was amused. It became obvious that this individual is entirely unsuitable to manage her appearance at work, let alone a restaurant where we would spend our money. Needless to say, we were not there to be the source of entertainment for the evening, so after a brief exchange, we departed and didn't even think twice about bailing on the bill. Moral of the story here is if you walk into a place and the staff if wearing forever 21/ urban outfitters kimonos, run the other way because the owners clearly don't put any thought into who is running their business, nor do they care about your patronage. Spend your money somewhere that cares about your business, not a place that cares more about being "badass".

There was nothing bad about this experience. It's a little place and it was 7pm on a Friday night but we were seated right away. Our server greeted us quickly. Everything about the place was quick. Our drinks were out quickly. Our food was out quickly. Even the check came out quickly. And the food! The food was amazing! Ordered the queso and it had the perfect amount of spiciness. I had an enchilada with rice and refried black beans. So fabulous! I got the esquite as well and it was to die for. The house margarita was good as far as house margaritas go. And so reasonably priced. I wish I lived in Atlanta so I could eat here all the time.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
