This place gets packed on Sunday afternoons the moment church lets out. And I can see why. Growing up in Los Angeles, the number one thing to do after church was to go and enjoy family-style brunch, preferably soul food style. This place totally reminds me of some of my favorite restaurants during those childhood years, from the fake plants to the oddball seating arrangements. Don't forget the hospitality. I found that the staff was uber friendly, as though we *were* family. Very open and welcoming. I felt like I have been flown back to Los Angeles. The restaurant is split into two sections -- a left side and a right side. We walked down the corridor of seats (which I found strange) up to the buffet style line. But this is not an open buffet. The servers dish out your chosen eats. What seemed most popular was to go for one meat and two entrées. The selections are plenty: Ox tails, smothered pork chops, fried chicken and wings were among the mains. Fish is cooked to order. Then, you get a selection of collard greens, okra, rice, corn (And it is sweet corn, not merely buttered corn FYI), a cheese and broccoli casserole, potatoes and more. Yup, you guessed it: carb coma! What a perfect way to end the afternoon after church. I went with catfish, corn and the broccoli cheese casserole. The meal came with a muffin sized cornbread. I absolutely loved the catfish! While there was just a little bit too much oil that made it into my serving dish, the fish had the perfect amount and type of seasoning and batter. I loved that the catfish wasn't overwhelmed by the batter. That's my greatest pet peeve with fish joints. The cheese and broccoli casserole was amazing! It reminds me of the casserole my mother made us when we were growing up. Very, very cheesy with bits of broccoli that still had a a bit firmest to them. But again, a little bit too much oil in the dish. The corn was the only disappointment. I didn't realize the corn had been sweetened, which is not how I enjoy it. I also found the corn was somewhat rubbery, possibly on account of the oil in it. So the greasy bites aside, I enjoyed the stop. I look forward to trying the oxtails next time. That will be the defining factor for me.

Food is superb! Love the soul food cafeteria style! The service could be better. Although they were fast on a busy day, they could be clearer about prices before you get to the end of the line to pay. Also, the food doesn't cone with a drink. Otherwise, everything else is exceptional!

If you are looking for quick absolutely delicious spot to relax in a very casual setting than this is where it's at! Soooo good! Plenty of soul food options! The staff is so welcoming and kind :) it was a great decision. My group of 5 was visiting from Florida and we were hungry for a good Georgia lunch after having ziplined. We walked in and the staff behind the counter directed us where to go and how it worked and what the lunch specials were. The Mac N Cheese is where it's at! That BBQ chicken and those chicken wings are kickin! Idk if you can go wrong because they had tons of other southern style proteins and side options as well :D

I really like this place for 2 reasons: 1) food is good 2) lots of fresh ready-to-serve food options to choose from This is a cafeteria style place that serves up a host of meat and veggies options with all the soul, love, and flavor you'd expect from traditional southern cooking. You can choose from fried, baked, or grilled chicken, fish, beef, and pork. Some of the meats are jerk style too! They have all types of veggies including multiple variations of certain veggies (e.g., sweet potato soufflé and candied yams) This place has the best peach cobbler that I've tasted in Georgia!!! You can eat there or take the food to go! This place has lots of tables and a few TVs. A must try...on your way to or from the airport, if you don't live in the area.

Great food! We found this place on Yelp of course and they had great reviews so we decided to give it a try. I will say that we passed this place three times before we finally found it. The road sign is hidden by bushes and the building sign is so small, we though the place was closed. The decor is a bit outdated and set up is kind of strange. When you walk in, you have to walk around the corner to start. You pick one main course and two sides. They had so many options, it was hard to decide. I ended up choosing the fried chicken, which was freshly made, mashed potatoes and broccoli and cheese rice. It was all on point! The two others with me got ribs and they were also fantastic. I would highly recommend this place!

Awesome place to eat with a large variety of southern dishes. The staff was extremely nice and the prices are great. Did I mention the food was awesome.

Oh MY! Little place, which we typically find are the best and this was exceptionally fantastic! The people were super friendly, and helpful! We got to taste oxtail, a first for us! We tried the beef& rib tips, the catfish, collard greens, black-eyed peas, Mac 'n cheese-all were AMAZING! If you are in town near the airport-you GOTTA go here! Mmmm

My family and I ate dinner here while in Atlanta. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the oxtails with yellow rice. The oxtails were excellent but my food could have been warmer. The broccoli rice casserole was great. Mac and cheese was solid. The jerk wings were amazing! The other reviews of the cornbread were spot on but I didn't miss it. The uptown sweet tea and lemonade mix was yummy. Great experience overall. I give the food a 4+ and the service took the experience to a 5. It was a really pleasant experience and I highly recommend this place to others.

Cafeteria-style with plenty of options. We got two plates with three sides each for only $21. The food was delicious. Definitely looking forward to returning when I'm in the area.

The food is very good. I really enjoyed the smothered pork chops rice and mac n cheese. This was my first time here. I will be going sooner rather than later.

Sunday afternoons this is evidently the place to be. We waiting in line what seemed like forever but it was worth every bite of pot roast, mac & cheese, mashed potatoes, and broccoli casserole I put in my mouth. Service was awesome. Cafeteria style, if you aren't sure what you want, you will be placed to the side until you decide so that you don't hold up the line. I am not in the part of town often but would visit again if I were there for some reason.

I saw this location on a tv show and since we were staying nearby decided to give it a try. Its cafeteria style where you tell them what you like and they serve it to you. I got turkey and collards and black eyed peas. The food was very good and fairly cheap. The restaurant was pretty clean and lots of places to sit. Its not a fancy place but for the price i sure wish there was something like this close to where we live in la.

While visiting Atlanta from Brooklyn.. I was told Big Daddys was the spot to get my "itis" on.. Got there close to 8.. Long ass line.. Good sign.. While I waited in the cheese line.. The food bins on the counter behind the glass had stars in my eyes and drool on my chin.. So much so that I had to get two platters of goods.. Didn't want to miss anything.. It will be a must stop every time I go back to the A

Venue: Big Daddy's Dish Decor: Cafeteria Like, Plain (Which is cool) Service: Phenominal, professional, assertive Environment: Laid back, not hustle and bustle, Quiet on most evenings Food: Southern, Comfort, Put you on your @$$ Prices: Very reasonable, a bang for your buck Huge Pros: The food, the Price of the food, The service, Lunch Specials, Menu Depth, Free Parking Debbie Downers: Although most of the Items was beyond good, some items like the Cornbread was not up to par. Conclusion: Man oh Man. Where do I begin?! This place is banging. Anything southern...They got it! I'd be lying if I said I tried everything. Believe me, I wanted to! If ever they want to host a taste test at their restaurant, I'd volunteer no problem. They are loaded with beef ribs, pork ribs, pork chops, fried chicken, turkey, chicken smothered, quarter legs, chicken alfredo, turkey wings with sides such as lima beans, blackeyed peas, mashed potatoes, potato salad, green beans, rice, cabbage & more. The Catfish was breaded & fried to perfection. 5 gold stars for the catfish...no doubt about that. This is my kind of mac & cheese (cheesy, has flavor). Not the best mac & cheese in Atlanta but it is probably top 5 on a good day. I wolfed down that broccoli casserole. Spot on! The turnip greens are good...I've had better. The tilapia was very good & recommended if you want to go the fish route. The only knock to me was the cornbread but that is so minor on the menu that you may have to give that a pass. The type of food that make you tap out and feen for a pillow! The service was spectacular and fast. Even if you're an angry man (or woman), it's really hard to leave without a smile on your face. Therefore, I will be back and look forward to giving peers the tips on the place. Overall: A - (Somewhere between 4 & 5 Stars)

Stopped here on a layover and it is the BEST! Best ribs and meatloaf I've ever had! Everything was phenomenal and everyone was so nice! This is a must if you're in Atlanta.

First time eating here and found on Yelp!!! Excellent soul food! Beef ribs were tender and tasty. Collard greens were cooked just right. Fruit punch kool aid reminds you of home if you grew up on kool aid in the South. I will return to this restaurant!!

MY FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAV Restaurant! I eat here once a month and I dont eat here more, because the food isn't the healthiest. Hands down the BEST Soul Food in Atlanta. Everything I have had has been excellent and it tastes just like your Grannys is in the kitchen making it. On Sundays they can get packed around dinner hour, so just be forewarned!

I am a fan of Big Daddys after finding them near my job. So far the Turkey wings, meat loaf, fried chicken and pork chops have all been wonderful. Also, the collards, broccoli rice casserole, dressing, rice (white and yellow), chicken gravy, ketchup gravy (meat loaf only), mac & cheese are all great. I did not enjoy the mashed potatoes, this may be due to my preference for the use of real potatoes as well as some skin and chunkiness to my mashed potatoes. Box potatoes tend to be chalky and not hold up and that was my experience with their mashed potatoes. I also tried the Peach Cobbler. I unfortunately was not impressed and for the sake of me being from Georgia I will explain why. Peach Cobbler has some requirements that must be followed regardless of the recipe, they are: Fresh Peaches when available, Flaky Crust, Proper spices. Theirs did not meet any of these. The crust was over handled as evidenced by it being doughy to the point of almost having to cut it to get a piece on the spoon. Canned peaches were used, which would be fine if the rue within the cobbler had been spiced properly and it was not. Cinnamon was only slightly there, no trace of nutmeg, vanilla or almond extract, or even lemon zest (secret for any great cobbler rue). Also the rue was watery, which may have been because it was on a steam table being kept hot, so I understand as there are rules to keeping food at certain temperatures in the restaurant industry. The prices are amazing and cannot be beat. Anytime you can find a Soul Food restaurant that sales their Ox Tail dinner for less than $16.00, youve found a winner. Most importantly, they have their entire menu everyday! Go Big Daddy's!

This place really showed us southern hospitality. Visiting from Chicago where the people are not all that friendly to others made this place help my decision to move to Atlanta. The food was good and there were plenty of options to choose from. It was a buffet style where you choose a meat and two sides. I had gotten the ribs with collard greens, cheesy broccoli with rice, and a corn muffin. Food was great. I was then recommended to get the sweet tea which I couldn't get enough of. The waitress that helped us out was so friendly and helpful. I have never had a waitress that was that friendly and helpful. I would return just because of the hospitality alone and the fact that the food was good will make me a regular.

Ok, this is the only place that I get excited about baked chicken! It is so flavorful and moist. I got the baked chicken when I was thinking about eating more healthy. I was still eyeing the fried chicken when I was leaving so I got a fried wing. Baked or fried chicken, you cant go wrong, I enjoyed both. The customer service is great.... the sides can be a hit or miss depending on the day you go.

My husband & I tried out Big Daddy's Dish after reading the glowing reviews on Yelp. The food was as good as expected and the staff is as friendly as described. ESPECIALLY our server, Mr. Wilson, who made us feel right at home. If you are in the mood for good old fashioned southern cuisine, I HIGHLY recommend!! :-)

Love it! The food is always fresh, hot and seasoned well! I've been here three times and every time I bring out of town guest and they love it! The staff is friendly and comical.! If you are having a bad day prior to entering this place you will leave here feeling better!

I was staying by the airport looking for an inexpensive place to eat and found this place on yelp. It's cafeteria style with plenty of meat and side dish choices. The portions they give are hearty and the food is seasoned well. It's a nice homey spot. Will go back next time I am in town.

Do yourself a favor and try this place - even if it is out of your way to go there. This is worth a trip to Atlanta all by itself. I recently flew into Atlanta for vacation and was driving south to head to Florida, and my partner was searching for restaurants on his phone when he found Big Daddy's Dish. After reading some reviews, we decided to go. It's not a lot to look at, but the food and the service are unbelievable! As a good Southern boy, I know that my momma's fried chicken is the best I've ever had. After visiting Big Daddy's Dish, I'm not so sure I can say that anymore (just don't tell my momma!!)! The portions are huge and the prices are really low - it just cannot be beaten in my opinion. If you are in the mood for authentic, delicious Southern soul food - this is the place and look no further!

I finally had food from this location despite how much I pass it everyday on the way to work. The menu is large and had such a variety. I decided to eat the meatloaf despite my brothers warning, who happens to be a chef by the way, to just stick with the chopped steak. I order meatloaf with white rice, Mac and cheese and broccoli cheese casserole. I'm sad to say the only thing I enjoyed was the cornbread muffin and Mac and cheese. Best Mac and cheese that I've had in a longtime. Of course the muffin was good and sweet and buttery as usual. The problem with the other items was they added clashing seasonings that just three the taste way off. The meatloaf was salty and the sauce which I assumed was ketchup was too zesty. When salt added to it, mostly tasted like prego spaghetti sauce. The rice was fine. No complaints there. The broccoli cheese casserole was way to salty as well. I've never tasted salt on this particular dish. I'm used to seeing pepper being used. Of course I ate it all, cost me nearly 12 bucks but I think I'll stick with my usually place, Walters Soul Food on Cleveland ave or my aunts place, Ikhlas Superb also on Cleveland ave.

I came here on a Sunday around noon and there wasn't a line yet. I ordered the beef tips with rice, macaroni and cheese, sweet potato soufflé, and banana pudding. The beef tips were awesome as the banana pudding was as well. The sweet potato soufflé reminded me of baby food, so it wasn't my thing. The macaroni and cheese was ok- not the best. The service was friendly and the portion sizes were great. I would definitely go back and try some other sides.

Visiting from out of town and wanted some authentic soul food. Yelp led me to Big Daddy's Soul Food and I was NOT disappointed!!! Fried Chicken was seasoned perfect and very juicy. Mac and Cheese, Collard greens and black eye peas were delicious! Finishing it with a moist corn bread muffin and fresh lemonade, just put this place over the top. I would come back here again and again! I can't recommend it enough!

My wife and i came here during a stopover. Cafeteria style eating Pros: Delicious food, friendly people, decent sized portions, quick Cons: no clear pricing, pretty drabby decor, not very clean We paid about $30 for 2 people, we got the ox tail with mash potates, corn, and collared greens. My wife got the beef ribs with collared greens, mac and cheese, with cornbread. We shared a fanta soda. It didn't look like enough at first but it definitely was. It's southern comfort food... don't expect it to be healthy!

Off the chain goodness! If you are wanting good home cooked food and great portions. Come here! I always get mine to go and I'm able to eat on it 2 times and get full. I've only had the rib tips because I can't get enough of them. All of their sides are delish

  • Shameka P.

Me and the hubby eat here at least once a week or every other week and it's like visiting family. We have tried just about everything and it's all delicious! Definitely home cooked with love. The amount of food you get and the prices will make you stand in the growing line. Although tempting, we try to avoid on Wednesday bible study night and Sunday after church since there are two well known churches practically next door. Everyone goes there in droves on those days and the lines are crazy. The Jerk chicken wings are flavorful with just enough kick. The broccoli, rice, and cheese is a must get everything I come. This is the one place I wouldn't mind getting a veggie plate from because even the veggies are fresh not canned and very good.

  • Sarrah F.

This place is delicious. The tilapia is seasoned with lemon pepper and made to order so it takes it while. There's also 4 different kinds of gravies that you can choose from for your mashed potatoes. The corn is to die for! The red velvet cake was meh but the rest of the food was so delicious that I will give them a pass. If you are in College Park or anywhere near it make sure you visit Big Daddy's. I would hands down come back!

In the process of moving to Atlanta I used to stay in College Park and this restaurant was nearby. I must say I am very picky when it comes to soul food because everyone cannot do it especially in a restaurant, feed the masses, setting. But this food is absolutely amazing there is NOTHING on that food line that will disappoint you. I have taken everyone I know to this restaurant and they have all loved it. My father (a big foodie) stated it was the best soul food he's ever eaten in a restaurant and that is a statement to be made. Love this restaurant. I'm sad I'm in Decatur and never in college park so I dont get to go here often but it is my fave places to eat in Atlanta. Hands down.

One word. amazing! The appearance of this plate might have you wondering but don't let it change your mind about eating here. I had the ribs and the jerk chicken wings with the potato salad and macaroni and cheese. The food was hot and very delicious. Everything was seasoned well. About $32 for two people and well worth it. Staff could be more helpful (was my first time and didn't know how the prices and plating worked) p.s my best friend got the banana pudding and "it was life changing".

  • Alex P.

I was craving soul food and came across this place. I was a little weary because of the cafeteria style set-up but was so glad I didn't let it deter me. You can choose one meat and two sides and there's everything from ribs, to chopped turkey and fried chicken to candied yams, three types of greens and Mac 'n cheese. I decided on the smothered pork chops which were seasoned well and had a good crunch. With the chops, I got white rice and tons of gravy. The macaron it and cheese was creamy flavorful and the collard greens had a little kick to them. Each meal comes with a cornbread muffin which was a tad sweet but the perfect compliment to the meal. If I'm ever in Atlanta again, this is where I will get my soul food fix.

Place is clean Staff are all very polite Business is run very efficiently The food was outstanding. Flavorful and good portion size. I was not able to finish all my sides. I had the oxtails and rice. Very good. The jerk chicken was also good and spicy. Highly recommend this location!!!!

This place was so delicious! I wish they would come to Texas. I ordered the fried chicken with broccoli cheese rice casserole and mashed potatoes. The casserole was so yummy! I also tried the green beans, mac and cheese, and their yams. For dessert I had the peach cobbler, it was so great! I loved everything I tried. It's hard to go wrong here. Staff is friendly and pricing is not too bad either. This place is cafeteria style.

Yelp lead me here and I'm glad it did. Had the rib tips, broccoli cheese casarole, black eyed peas, and sweet potatoes souffle. Everything was great!!! Ribs couldve been a bit more tender, but this is cafeteria style so the food sits in a warmer. Still good. Ordered a peach cobbler too, but i was so full I only made it through the 1st bite. It was good too lol.

Not the prettiest place but that real Southern soul food is AMAZING. I had the Oxtail which was big and tender and full of meat with the broccoli cheese casserole and collard greens. Oh how I miss this food. If we could only get this in Texas

Older looking establishment with good home cooked food in Southern Atlanta. I came here with a friend who was staying near the airport. If you have a rental car and are staying near the Atlanta airport, it's pretty convenient to get here. The food is served cafeteria style. Walk to the rightmost part of the counter and you will find your meats. It isn't a self-serve buffet, but don't worry, the servers will give you a good portion of food. I ordered the rib tips, which tasted decent. You also have a choice of baby back ribs, chicken cooked a few different ways, and fish. There's a fine assortment of sides, which include vegetables, potatoes, macaroni and cheese, and collard greens. I had the yam souffle, which was quite good. Don't forget dessert, on the day I was there, you could order peach or apple cobbler. So why 3 stars you ask? Not quite as good as some other Southern restaurants that I consider to be 4 stars. Big Daddy's Dish, however, has some pretty decent homestyle cooking if you're in the airport area.

Been there, tried that....WON'T be back and don't suggest you do either. Yes they offer a wide variety but it's all high school cafeteria quality soul food Not worth a trip from anywhere.

I was staying at the Sheraton near the airport and wanted to try this place out after reading the Yelp reviews. Being from California, I had no expectations and just wanted some good comfort food. First of all, this is a cafeteria style restaurant with tables and booths for you to sit in. They have daily specials up so make sure to look out for them. I got smothered pork chops with mashed potatoes & gravy. I chose black eyed peas and collard greens as the 2 sides that come with your meal. All I can say was... yum! Not only did it satisfy my craving for comfort food, it just topped off my first trip to the ATL. All of the employees were friendly and provided that southern hospitality.

Big Daddy's Dish is A OK with me!!! Food for the SOUL. If you are a southerner, you could have easily thought you were at your grandmother's getting ready for Sunday's dinner. My girlfriend that use to live here was visiting from, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and spoke of this place from the time she stepped off the plane. I wanted to try the Madhouse Bar & Grill that just opened up of Old Nat. But it was closed so we ended up here, and I'm happy that we did. The food was set up in a cafeteria style. There were so many items to choose from that I was standing there for a while undecided...... I was definitely in hog heaven. My son and I both settled on the pork ribs, they looked and smelled divine. My son order black eye peas, and Mac & cheese, I ordered Mac & cheese and collard greens. The ribs, were just okay in my opinion, but my son claimed them as the truth!!! I've come to realized that I like baby back ribs more than the spear ribs. My friend that was visiting took a different route and ordered smothered pork chops and dressing with gravy, which was delicious!!!! She allow me a taste and I was so mad that I didn't order the chops, seasoned to perfection. The prices were not bad at all, my tab was around $26 after we purchased beverages. My friend tab was around $11 but she ordered a dessert. Big Daddy's is a decent size restaurant, with decent seating. The restaurant was very clean, each table suited with hot sauce, vinegar peppers, ketchup & mustard and salt & pepper. All the thing a southern food restaurant need. The best part about Big Daddy's is Lil Pappa and the other servers ( I asked one of the servers if he was big daddy, he said " no, they call me Lil Pappa" lol ). We were welcomed with open arms at this establishment and left there feeling like family. My son spoke about how nice the servers and cashiers were to him, they gave him some very encouraging words about school and growing into a young man ( it was very nice ). Big Daddy's is probably a 30 min drive from Marietta, but I will be taking that drive sometime soon...IT'S WORTH IT!

Great BBQ and big portions for a reasonable price. Also, the Service was fantastic! There was so many options I was not sure what to get so I ordered two meats! The pork ribs which were tender and fell off the bone, the beef tips with mashed potatoes, Mac n cheese and squash. I am now in pain due to the large quantities of food, however I would do it again!

This place is Great! I had the pork tips, mashed potatoes, mac & cheese and topped it off with the peach cobbler. The tips had an awesome sauce, sweet and full of flavor the potatoes and mac were moist and very good and the peach cobbler is a must have. Staff was very friendly and helpful I gave it a four as I'm stingy with 5's

I found out about this establishment through Yelp like many others. I had the turkey wing with dressing, macaroni and cheese, and broccoli cheese rice casserole. The turkey wings and macaroni and cheese we're good. However the dressing was bland. The broccoli and cheese rice casserole was completely under cooked. I think they brought out a new dish as we were in line because they were running out and did not take the proper time to bake it. The broccoli was crunchy and hard and the consistency of the casserole itself was not good at all. I literally threw that and the dressing in the trash. Would I go again? Possibly. If I went again it would probably be just to try a different side dish to see if I liked it more. The prices were decent which I like but I just didn't enjoy everything on my plate. I'll probably give it one more chance if I come back to Atlanta again.

Where to begin... This place was a great find! After being on the road for hours my boyfriend and I wanted to find some good southern food. I decided to try this place because of the good reviews. When you first walk in you are greeted with a smile and hello by everyone working there. All of the staff are so friendly and helpful. I decided to get the bbq pork ribs and my boyfriend got the oxtail. The oxtail comes with rice and two other sides. The ribs come with two sides as well. The food is served cafeteria style so you just walk down the line and pick out what you wanted. Everything we tried was delicious! I would recommend stopping in for some good soul food!

Sadly this is must first time visiting this spot...but it will not be my last. I had the veggie plate...and it was all good. The meats looked great too...I plan to experience those next go around along with the desserts. Reasonably priced too

Delicious! Your grandma doesn't live in Atl? No worries, Big Daddy's is the next best thing!! Very generous serving sizes. I always make 2 meals out of my orders because it's just that much food. My fave dishes are turkey w/ gravy, dressing, yams, collard greens and peach cobbler. Excellent service as well!

All I can say is WOW!!! Iv been to this place several times and every time the staff has been great. Iv had meat loaf, which I highly recommend oxtails which are effortless to eat I also have had the beef short ribs they are worth the drive across state lines.as for the sides I wasn't excited about the Mac and cheese but the greens are perfect and so are the steam okra.my favorite is the cornbread this is the only place in town I will eat it. It's sweet but not to sweet its light and not gritty..love it the strawberry banana pudding it will make you slap ur momma into next year it's so good I would love to give this place 5stars but the decor is like 1960s and I think it's time for a upgrade

Mmm, Mmmm, GOOD! If you are seeking some good ol', down home, authentic, SOUL food...then Big Daddy's Dish is the location for you! When I walked in I was a bit taken aback due to the size of the place - lots of seating. Everything was in order - very clean. Please note that the food here is served "buffet style". I was not aware until I went to pick up my order. The bottom line is that the food here is amazing and the staff is very friendly (in true Southern fashion).

I found the restaurant in the Yelp reviews while staying near the Atlanta airport. This is a cafeteria home style Southern cooking restaurant. The food is served from steam tables you pick from the server. What caught my eye was the Ox tails, it is served on top of a bed of rice. Let me tell you how good it was. I got done and the waitress was about to take my tray and setting. I told her, that the Ox tails were so good that I had to have another plate, she offered to get it for me to avoid getting in line again. Now that's service. I also had okra and collard greens for the sides. So in summary, if you like Ox tails, this is well worth a trip to try, you too might get a second plate, but I doubt it, since the servings are not exactly small portions. The okra was also very good. Well worth the trip to visit this Southern home style meal!

I went to the new Big Daddy's on MLK Jr. In Atlanta. (Near Five Points). It was the best soul food I've ever had, hands down. Everyone was super friendly. They let you sample some of the food before I decided (they have ALOT of options). I went with the ox-tail, mashed potatoes, corn bread with cranberry jam on the side, turnips, and green beans. All of it was deliciousness! I felt extremely welcome there, conversing with the staff. Free wi-if too. I would most definitely recommend this place while you are in Atlanta.

Ate dinner here. Great quick food, friendly service. The line starts in the back, you should see the sign on the wall stating such. Grab a tray and figure out which meat and carb you want. Several different plate options, and some sort of fried chicken special before 5pm, but there was no menu or anything really posted so you're just guessing at the price and dish combos. Basically, choose your meat from a pretty wide selection... I liked the jerk chicken I got last time and will probably get the fried catfish next time I'm there. Then choose your carb (rice or mashed potatoes), and then pick your 2 sides (they're all decent. the mac is good, a little sweet, I also like the collard greens... the broccoli with cheese was also good). Plenty of seating inside. The guy working the floor got us waters and was very friendly.

I've been to Big Daddy's a few times and each trip was wonderful! Got my favs, fried catfish, Mac and cheese, greens and ohhhh Big Daddy's Peach Cobbler is the best that I've had in ATL so far. The staff is always friendly and the food is always hot. Definite pluses. Never had problems with parking. Location is easy to find. Big Daddy's is also cheaper than a lot of their soul food competitors in ATL.

I was staying by the airport looking for an inexpensive place to eat and found this place on yelp. It's cafeteria style with plenty of meat and side dish choices. The portions they give are hearty and the food is seasoned well. It's a nice homey spot. Will go back next time I am in town.

Ever wish you could go to a fast food soul food restaurant and actually get your food fast? Well you're in luck. Located on the South Side on Old National Highway is one of the best soul food restaurants in the Atlanta metro area. Welcome to Big Daddy's...or as I like to call it Home Sweet Home. Baked or fried with a smorgasbord of sides, the food is so delicious that it reminds me of my grandmother's kitchen. Daily lunch specials include a meat with 2 sides and a drink and generally ranges from $6.99 to $11.99. Personally I always get the fried fish or baked chicken with dressing, macaroni & cheese, collards and yam casserole. The potato salad is pretty good too. But let's not forget about the desserts! My absolute favorites are the Peach Cobbler and Peanut Butter Cake with Peanut Butter Frosting. Beyond just the food the staff provides great customer service and you might even get a chance to meet Mr. Big Daddy himself at the register. So whether your new to Atlanta, visiting or just looking for a fast and affordable down home southern cuisine, check out Big Daddy's Dish. I promise you won't be disappointed. Feel free to dine in or take your food to go.

I don't normally like home cooking restaurants because I'm a pretty good cook and I can usually cook whatever they have on their menu better and for less money. But, Big Daddy's Dish is making a believer out of me. I have eaten lunch here 3 times now and it's always delicious and reasonably priced. I can get 4 veggies and a corn muffin for only 6 bucks and under 500 calories (so long as I avoid the awesome broccoli casserole)! I have got to bring my family here.

So much potential but no one is checking the food for correct temperature. The sides are consistent; however the meats are cold. Probably been in the fridge the night before and didn't mask to let me think was prepared the day of. Second visit and still having issues. I guess the locals don't mind.

Well good friendly service and the food was ok but I should have ordered something else instead of smoother chicken

The food was excellent, purchased 2 veggie plates They had a variety of of desserts are the checkout, which look sooo good, but I am on a diet but if you want some good soul food and desserts this is the place to be. Not to pricey and enough food for the money. Plus they have daily lunch specials I use to go to the location in Riverdale all of the time, they haven't miss a beat

Outstanding customer service from the owner himself. Excellent food! I do lunch everyday at Big Daddy's

Not the prettiest place but that real Southern soul food is AMAZING. I had the Oxtail which was big and tender and full of meat with the broccoli cheese casserole and collard greens. Oh how I miss this food. If we could only get this in Texas

I had the beef tips, ribs, mac & cheese and black-eyed peas. I was stuffed to the brim and still wanted more! Clean, friendly place with the best soul food I've had in quite some time.

  • Allison S.

I was staying by the airport looking for an inexpensive place to eat and found this place on yelp. It's cafeteria style with plenty of meat and side dish choices. The portions they give are hearty and the food is seasoned well. It's a nice homey spot. Will go back next time I am in town.

So much potential but no one is checking the food for correct temperature. The sides are consistent; however the meats are cold. Probably been in the fridge the night before and didn't mask to let me think was prepared the day of. Second visit and still having issues. I guess the locals don't mind.

  • Nik P.

    (5)

  • Gisela C.

Hands down.

  • Alecia W.

One word.

    (5)

  • Christina F.

  • Tineshia A.

  • Ryan K.

    (4)
  • Ed S.

  • Ashley W.

  • Xavier G.

  • Jamie S.

  • Raymond L.
