Oh man. Amazing. My friend took me here and swore the pizza was amazing. She was right. I figured, hey. It's pizza. How exciting can it be? VERY. Both my daughter and I loved it. Only reason I give 4 stars was the super loud music hurting my ears.

The Antico pizza, while delicious, is not for everyone. Pizza these days, I mean jeez, who wants to sit a family-style table with a bunch of drunken bogans? When you can find a seat, expect it to be loud and then expect to share it with anyone -- not a problem when you know what you're getting into. I'd like to give it more stars, but the staff had an air of aloofness beyond comprehension (I suspect they were not students at the nearby GT) and the beverage menu was limited.

Antico is probably the best pizza (and associated pizza experience) in Atlanta. Everything about it is unique and not what you'd expect way down south. This is meant to be a true Neapolitan brick-oven style pizzeria. Even if you grew up on NY style pizza in the Northeast, this is going to be different. But it doesn't disappoint. The food is great, though the menu is basic and and the pies are all pretty standardized. I've had a few, but the Lasagna and Bianca stand out in my mind. Both were very good, though a lot different (one red/one white). The pizza condiments (red pepper/cheese/etc) are also of very good quality and readily available near the kitchen. It's a BYOB establishment, which is awesome, though the do sell alcohol. It is a communal atmosphere- you grab whatever seats are open, and often sit with total strangers. Some people hate this, but it's part of the experience. The place has a lot of character, and most of the seating area allows you to see the kitchen that is making the pies. You will almost definitely wait anywhere from 5 to 30 minutes in line, depending on the night you go. Just think about what you want to eat, crack open a beer, and let it happen. Additionally, the area around here has been built up considerably into a "Tiny Italy," wi a few more Italian restaurants, an Italian-coastal themed bar, and a gelato/dessert shop. I haven't eaten anywhere aside from the gelato stand, and can't speak to how authentic the food is, but it is a nice atmosphere and makes for a good experience. Overall, an unbeatable experience in Atlanta. Antico is the type of place that will make you feel lucky you live in a city that offers vibrant, quality, and unique experiences like this. If you don't come expecting to be waited on hand and foot, you won't be disappointed.

The reviews are true. The pizza is good and the dining area if u wanna call it that is somewhat odd. Community wood tables and stools... bar and table stools....so if crowded u will be eating with some of folks u don't know! The pizza is $20 bucks for the Margherita and $4 extra to add pepperoni. It's made in about 5min. I went on a Monday about 5pm and it wasn't crowded at all. Only had one problem, when I walked in the door I was completely ignored, the cashier lady was texting on her celly. I actually had to say something to her a couple of times to get her attention so I can place my order. All in all that wasn't a big deal and once I start eating I was ok! Parking is behind the building. This was my second time coming last time they ran out of dough on a weekend visit. Worth a try!

This is one of the BEST pizzas I've ever had! I've been to many pizza spots (deep dish from Chicago and New York pizza from NYC, etc) and this place is just as great! My friend and I drove by this place during a weekend for dinner and the entire spot was packed. You'll find people standing around outside socializing and a packed house inside. You'll find plenty of residential parking in front of the restaurant. This place allows for BYOB, which is great! It was entertaining seeing what other people brought to their tables (beer, spirits, and/or wine)! My friend and I split the Margarita pizza (plenty for 2 people). It was amazing and highly recommended! The dough was hot, crispy, but yet doughy in the middle. The sauce was savory, yet not overpowering. The pizza overall was a hit! I am not local to Atlanta, but if I am back in the city, I would love to come back and other pizzas. My friend and I did not bring a drink, so we ended up buying one of their house wine, each bottle was $25. That's pretty overpriced, but you get what you need in times of desperation. Their white wine was just average. After you've placed your order, they will give you a number and drop it off at your table. They will walk around with the pizza over their head and yell out your number, so pay attention! After you've placed your order, you fight your way through the dining area to find a seat. Seating can be difficult, it is a first come first serve environment. There are many tables laid out across the dining area, so at times, you will be sitting right next to a stranger. Warning, the dining area is really hot! Make sense, they are cooking the pizzas in the same room. So don't dress in layers because you are going to boil. On the left side of the room, there is a sink. At first glance, you'd think it's for washing your hands. However, you'll find plastic cups...for customers to pour themselves a cup of tap water, sadly. On the right side of the room, you will the employees working away preparing our pizzas! Also, the condiments are right at that station. I recommend the minced garlic, it is a great add to the pizzas! You'll find many other condiments such as crushed peppers, parmesan, etc. Overall, this is a great place to stop by if you're looking for great pizza in Atlanta!

Helloooo, food coma. Excellent pizza - as if the reviews don't share this opinion already! It's a small space with two rooms packed with tables and chairs, communal style. You get in line, place your order at the register and find a place to sit. A waiter will walk around with your pizza, calling out your order number. It's a no-frills type of place but the pizza is incredible and it's very, very worth it. The menu is small and simple with no substitutions or halves allowed. They also have wine and beer, bottled sodas and juices. They don't serve you on any plates - the pizza comes on one big tray with some knives and forks and you just dive in. Giggity. We stopped in on a Saturday afternoon, around 12:30, only an hour after opening, and it was busy! The line was to the door. The cashier was probably the only not-so-good part of the experience. We told her it was our first time, hoping for some recommendations, and it turned into some weird type of staring game as we waited for her to school us on what to do, or, you know, even mention what the favorites are, but we got back a hefty dose of ambivalence instead. Mmmkay. We decided on the lasagna pizza since ricotta on pizza is my jaaaam lately, and it didn't disappoint. Meatballs, ricotta and romano and 100% satisfying. The crust, the ingredients, the flavor, the texture, the way it went down so, so easily... I saw a LOT of couples finishing one pie between themselves. It's very easy to do! It took us a minute to find an open seat and not even five minutes later our pizza was sitting in front of us. If you are claustrophobic or hate sitting next to strangers in a small space, this might not be an enjoyable experience for you. The pizza's good enough to make you forget where you are, though. Also, beware of their closing times - it's stated as "until out of dough." The hype is real, guys. The hype is real. This is some fantastic Italian-style pizza. Yowza.

I've been going to Antico for about five years now and I have never wavered on my head-over-heels love for this pizza, especially the Margherita. I had been told that all of the ingredients were freshly imported to replicate the original Naples-style pizza, but I thought, "I'm sure it can't be quite the same thing." A few months ago, I took a trip to Naples and frequently stuffed my face with the real deal. People, let me tell you: Antico IS the real deal. I no longer have any lingering questions of quality and authenticity. Knowing that I can have a real slice of Napoli any time I feel like dropping $20 is a dream come true. Atlanta is beyond lucky to have this place.

I am not a pizza person but once in a while I do eat it. I absolutely love the pizza at antico's. The Calabrian pepper, garlic and different sauces on the side are very flavorful.

The pizza here is awesome! We shared the San Gennaro and sat at one of the large communal tables where we got to watch the cooks in action making dough from scratch. The piping hot fire ovens reminded me of the story Hansel and Grettal. The open space was very loud, but since we arrived near closing time they turned the music off which was a blessing to my ears. Since the place is BYOB we brought our own drinks, root beer of course. Though some reviews say one pie can be shared with 3 people, hubby and I both disagree. The highlight of the evening was the dessert spot next door. Next time we must bring our daughter's and will be sure to try the spicy pizza.

Their website claims it to be the BEST EFFING PIZZA IN THE STATES. when i read that, i instantly thought, "that's a helluva bold claim." But they showed me what's up! By far the best pizza i've had outside of Italy. Doesn't matter which toppings, it's all in the dough. I'm from Chicago, but i would fly back to Atlanta just for this. If i had to pick one thing to eat for the rest of my life, it would be pizza. This, hands down, would be my choice in pizza. Now, if only, there's an Antico in Chicago. *hint hint* i hear Chicago is known for great food, so you'd fit right in. Brownie points for quick and efficient service! Warning: no bathroom? I think it was outside? Nothing like wondering around the entire restaurant in greasy pizza hands trying to find the toilet. Thought that was weird for a decent sized establishment. There is a sink to wash your hands though!

Places like this that get a lot of publicity are always overrated and underwhelming! (See definition of tourist trap). When I got there I was lucky, there was only one person in line. However, after I was there they got incredibly crowded. First of all there is no air conditioning in this place. I'm not sure how a business can legally get away with not having A/C, especially in the city of Hotlanta! We sat in the front room which was the least hot, but well over 80°. Everyone was sweating. All they have inside are communal picnic tables, which means you get to sit with a bunch of strangers and talk while you eat your food. The back room where the ovens are was well over 90°. They had mist fans blowing to try to cool everyone down but were not much help. As far as the food is concerned it is WAY overpriced! $20 for a simple margarita pizza. I asked the cashier how big the pizzas were and of course she did not know even after ringing up about 10 billion of them!! I'd say it was at least 14 inches in diameter. Crust was very thin and soggy and was burnt on the bottom. So about half of the bites that I took tasted like charcoal, obviously not a good taste for a pizza, specially one for $20! The pizza had hardly any sauce or cheese on it; it was mostly chewy dough. The sauce was made with San marzano tomatoes (canned) and there could not have been more than 4 teaspoons of sauce on the entire pizza! The mozzarella cheese was really good however there were just a few glops. I had to get up from my table and walk to the kitchen to ask for an extra cup of tomato sauce because it was so dry. I also shared a cup of olive oil with someone at my table and dipped my pizza into those cups; if I hadn't it would not have been edible. There are no waitresses; they come by to take your tray away (no plates). I had a can of San Pellegrino sparkling pomegranate for $3. It was not very refreshing considering we were all sweating like pigs. Since the pizza was so expensive and the fact that I'm phat, I forced myself to eat the entire thing. After dinner I went across the street and had gelato and spent a total of $30 for everything. Would I go back? Only when fat rabbits fly.

Very cool place. The pizza was some of the best that I've had. The vibe of the place puts it over the top. Very chill atmosphere with Italian music blaring while the employees make the dough, hand slice the meats, and assemble the pies. This place is legit.

I really struggled with this rating. The pizza was probably the best that I have had in the U.S. (NY pizza is overrated, as are NY bagels and everything else from there). The pizza came with the right amount of toppings and an amazing dough. The reason for four stars is that Antico's fails where most of these local joints do: service and pricing. The cashiers are rude and incompetent, as are those bringing your pizza out. There is also very limited seatings and no air conditioning in the summer (it was 95 degrees outside). Then there is the price. $20+ for a pizza is beyond ridiculous for Atlanta, especially since Antico cannot be bothered to shell out some money for air conditioning or proper employee training. Great pizza, but you still have a lot of work to do, Antico.

The pizza is good but I guess all the hype about this place didn't meet my expectations. So many good magazines and articles and "TOP pizza" lists always mentions Antico. Well I'm sorry I can't say I was WOW'd. I'm a girl from the Northeast who's particular about her pizza from plain ole pizza joints. Parking wasn't terrible for us, we were lucky enough to find a spot in their parking lot. And even though there was a line once we walked through the door the line moved pretty fast. We go there around 6:30 pm on Friday. Being that I've never been I wasn't familiar with the serving process. Like typical restaurants there's a host, they seat you and a waitress takes your order. It's much more simpler at Antico, well until you figure it out. Just get on line, give your order, the cashier gives you receipt with a number, you find a seat and someone walks around yelling an number and you raise your hand when they call your number. The girl at the counter wasn't the friendliest. I was a little confused at first and she gave me sour face a mumbled some kind of answer. You don't get plates but they do have plastic cups, utensils and paper towels at the table. We brought our own white wine and wine opener. Normally I like to top my pizza with garlic powder so I went looking around for it. But get this, no garlic powder but what they do have is chopped up raw garlic up for grabs. I've never tried raw garlic on my pizza but it was actually pretty darn good. I feel this is a place that you come to eat and go. It's really busy, probably due to all the hype. You watch people coming in looking for seats and if your done with your pizza you'd probably feel bad taking your time relaxing after your meal. I wasn't even done with my cup of wine and my husband quickly chucked it because it said it wasn't right to let other people stand around while they had hot pizza to eat. Oh well! I might consider coming back to try the other pizzas, but maybe on a slower day if one exists.

Had this pizza for the first time back in April of 2015. I've been craving it ever since! Very unique dining experience, this is a bring your own drink place that you get to watch them making pizzas. This isn't the place if you want to eat and linger for a while as there is limited seating space so people will be waiting for seats. The diavola is by far the best pizza I've ever had!! We got there early and waited for them to open. They brought out samples though the wait line. I don't remember what type it was but it was equally delicious. Highly recommended!

This pizza is amazing. The crust is thin, yet has a delightfully chewy texture. I came here with a friend on a weekday night and we shared the San Gennaro. The dining area is basically an extension of the kitchen with large communal tables, which creates a nice open and casual environment to eat in. This place is also BYOB, so feel free to bring a bottle of wine and enjoy with your meal. I highly recommend it! -L.

I'm sure readers will find it blasphemous that I only gave Antico Pizza three stars, but the stressful dining experience that I always encounter here is what sends me over the edge. A few general facts about Antico: 1) The pizzas are delicious, they really are! They are big (8 slices per pizza), and the crust is the perfect blend of crispiness and dough that just melts in your mouth. 2) There are no substitutions allowed - what you see on the menu is what you get on your pizza. 3) The restaurant itself has a very old school vibe, with an open kitchen (check out the pizza ovens they brought over from Italy), a dough room, and Italian soccer playing on the TV. 4) The restaurant sells a few different drinks, but you can also BYOB. 5) The pizzas aren't cheap and the bill can add up quickly. 6) If you are looking for pizzas to try, then these are a must: margherita, pomodorini, diavolo, and lasagna. They are all loaded with fresh ingredients that are bursting with flavor. The fresh basil that they top most pizzas with is to die for. The dining experience: 1) There is always a line at Antico - be prepared to wait! 2) The seating at Antico is what stresses me out the most!! All tables are communal style, and patrons watch them like hawks to snag your spot as soon as you leave. Not knowing if I will be able to sit and eat my food is quite stressful, and having people hover over you only makes you feel like you have to quickly scarf down your food and get out of there . 3) There are no plates, so if you don't love either A) eating off a plate with lots of other people or B) trying to eat pizza off of a paper towel with sauce and cheese sliding off of it, then this is not the place for you. 4) I would not suggest this place for large groups - it would be difficult to split the bill and seating would be atrocious. All in all, the food is great but this not the place for people looking to have a relaxing meal out on the town without feeling rushed or settling for subpar spaces to eat the food that you just bought.

I was pleasantly surprised by this joint. Let me disclose that I dislike "authentic" style wood-fire oven pizzas. Everyone and their mom where I live makes these, burnt, bland, limp cracker crusts, and put skimp amounts of flavorless toppings on top like soggy buffalo mozz, and charge way too much, and you can't talk s--- about it because it's "authentic." I'm an American pizza type of gal. I eat supremes and love pepperoni. If it has golden brown spots on top, crispy-edged pepperoni, and stretches when you pull a slice it means its good. I am also in the opinion that it's the crust that makes the pizza- I like a thicker, crisp, yet chewy crust with savory and sweet notes. That's not "authentic", but if "authentic" pizza is supposed to taste like burnt, soggy saltines with watery buffalo mozz with a hot arugula and prosciutto on top, it can shove it. This, is the exception. This was legitimately good! The sweet onion and red pepper topping contrasts with the tangy sauce (and a decent amount, where you can taste it!) And the crust- it was crispy and chewy! Now, it totally got soggy in the middle which I hate, but I could live with that because the favor was good and at least half of the slice had decent crust. The weakest aspect of the pizza was that I found the sausage mediocre and sparing ("the food at this place is terrible... and such small portions!"). Yhey allow you to get toppings such as parmesan and hot chilis- I grabbed some hot chili oil and drizzled it over my pizza and that was the bomb. I still prefer "American" style pizza but honestly, if you have to jump on the "authentic" pizza train, this place is legit.

I'm not sure if I came at a bad time of day or if I got the wrong pizza, but I did not like Antico's Pizza at all. My fiance, myself, and a friend of ours went to Antico's for lunch on a weekday afternoon. It was pretty busy and we had to wait in line for a little bit. The menu was confusing because I did not understand what a lot of the words meant, so we randomly ordered the Gigiotto and the Capricciosa. We also had trouble finding seating because everyone was spread out in such a way that no three seats were together. After finally finding a seat, we waited about 10 to 15 minutes for our pizza to arrive, which was not a bad wait time at all considering how many people were there. The Capricciosa pizza was really difficult to eat. The sauce was really watery and the pizza would drip every time I picked it up to take a bite. I ended up having to fold it to get it in my mouth without making a mess. Because it was so watery, the dough tasted like a soggy mess and I couldn't really enjoy the flavor of the artichoke or mushrooms. After being disappointed with my first slice of pizza, I was placing all my hope in the Gigiotto. However, after picking up a slice, I noticed that most of the crust was burnt black. Now I'm not that picky on things being slightly burnt, but this was burnt to the point where it tasted like I was eating ash. I didn't really like the taste of the broccoli rabe either and it kept getting stuck in my teeth. The cheese was very chewy and not easy to bite through, possibly because the pizza had already gotten cold by that point (even though it had arrived only 10 minutes previously). Altogether, I came in with high expectations based on the reviews here on Yelp and I was sadly disappointed. I would much prefer to get a deep dish at Nancy's Pizza than to go here again...and I don't usually like deep dish! Real Italian pizza does not taste like Antico's Pizza at all.

Antico Pizza Napoletana gets the full 5 stars after our group dropped by for a quick tomato pie...or two...or three. Antico Pizza came with the highest recommendation of a couple of local Yelpers and it definitely "panned" out for us. After placing our order for a Pomodorini (with fresh cherry tomatoes) and a pair of Margheritas (with san marzano tomatoes) with pepperoni, we ventured back to the wood-fired ovens and watched in amazement as the tomato pies were moved in and out of the ovens with skilled coordination. Our pies arrived at our table in short order drapped across two aluminum sheet trays lined with wax paper. The wax paper harkened me back to the days when I enjoyed "apizza" at Pepe's on Wooster Street in New Haven. The pizza at Antico was everything we hoped for with just the right amount of 'burn" around the crust and an authentic garlicy tomato sauce. Top shelf.

Best pizza in town .. and that is saying a lot coming for a gal with an Italian last name! The prices are high, but it is worth it! Don't play it safe - venture towards less familiar toppings. You won't regret it. Don't fear the communal table. No one will bite you unless you try to take their pizza!

SERVICE/AMBIANCE: Tonight was my second time dining at Anitco and boy, was it really busy tonight. I don't know if tonight is a normally busy night. The line was out the door and it was raining outside as well. You see the dedication to Antico?! When I walked inside, there were barely any standing room available. It was super stuffy and hot in the back room where all the baking from the ovens were happening. All of the people and the hot events made the experience not as great as patrons were very aggressive in grabbing seats. I think that maybe the restaurant doesn't want to expand it's space because 1) no land or space to expand in the surrounding area as they barely have any parking spaces anyways 2) the small, knit restaurant that they have is part of their appeal. I think it would be more efficient for them to have a microphone to yell out numbers of when orders are ready than to have servers run around with large hot pans holding hot out-of-the-oven pizza screaming out order numbers. The pizzas do come out every three minutes or so and the turn over for tables are very quick. I just would rather them handle the seating situations than to have the patrons do it. You have guests that don't have any pizzas on their tables waiting while others are standing and looking for a table with their pizzas already done. Another thing to add, they allow for BYOB so don't forget to bring your own drinks or else you'd end up paying for pricey drinks. You can also catch up on any sports games while dining in as they do have TVs on. PIZZA: You can share each pizza among two to three people. After three people, I would suggest ordering another pizza as we did. - Margherita D.O.P ($19): I thought the pizza was okay. It's how a margherita pizza should taste. You have large dollops of mozzarella cheese and basil on homemade pizza dough baked to perfection and is served hot and it's not oily or greasy at all. It's a must order for Margherita Pizza Lovers (like my boyfriend). - San Gennaro ($22): I liked the San Gennaro way better than the Margherita D.O.P. I like more substances on my pizzas and this pizza had a fair amount of sausages, red peppers, and dollops of mozzarella cheese. I wasn't a huge fan of the red peppers so I picked those off. I would say that the San Gennaro pizza is one of their popular pizzas. I would order this again in the future. Overall, I think I will try to come during the weekdays if I'm dining in or if I must have Antico on a weekend night, I will do take out. I cannot handle how crowded this place gets. How packed it gets and the lack of parking is definitely a con to Antico. The next time I order a pizza, I would love to try their pizzas with prosciutto as a topping like the Capricciosa or Vesuvio.

Had a cheese calzone and it was good. It is enough for two people. The calzone is very pricey, though. I was impressed with the atmosphere but I feel like I get better value at grant central pizza.

While I'm writing this, there are almost 2000 reviews and the average is 4.5 stars. That alone should be be getting your attention. There are places you go where you wish that time could be stopped so you could enjoy them longer. Everything about Antico is like that. From the menu to the ordering, the benches in the kitchen, everything is just authentic Italian family and the pizza shows it. I frequently see Antico on national lists of "Best Pizza in the United States" and in my opinion, it should be ranked higher than anything in Chicago or New York - sorry, I love Joe's, Roberta's, Gino's, Giordano, Lou Malnati's and Frank Pepe's but the pizza at Antico is beats all of them hands down. In my opinion, you will not find a better one outside Italy. And perhaps inside Italy too. My advice - take some time with Google to understand the ingredients and try something that you might not normally try. You will discover different ways of enjoying what is, in my humble opinion, the absolute best pizza in the world.

The pizzas at Antico's are fantastic!! All the ingredients are super fresh and the dough is cooked perfectly crisp and chewy. I went earlier around 5:30-6pm to avoid the long lines and I was in and out with a pizza fast. The seating inside is cool too, if you're able to grab a seat, with it being an open kitchen. I highly recommend Antico's! Food Rating: 5/5 Service Rating: 4/5 Ambiance Rating: 4.5/5

This is by far and again the best pizza I've had. I'm very particular about my food and consistency is something I'm extremely prideful about. Antico never disappoints. Let's start with the atmosphere: when you walk in here you immediately know you're somewhere good. Long line, communal tables, eating in basically the "kitchen" while dough and fresh hot pizza is being thrown around, ovens are burning hot, and the loud Italian music is blaring, you can't get a more authentic experience! The food: do not be mistaken, it doesn't matter what you order at this place, every time it will be perfect and without mistake. This place executes flawlessly and consistently every time. I'm a huge fan of the margarita pizza with sausage, but no matter what you get, it is all delicious! Highest ratings possible, don't make the mistake of getting any other pizza anywhere, this will beat it every time!

A year ago this would have been a five star review. Unfortunately, I recently found out that Antico's was the subject of a Department of Labor investigation last year into its alleged failure to pay overtime to its workers. Even better, DoL had to take the owner to court during the investigation for allegedly retaliating against workers who attempted to report grievances to the agency. Finally, and my personal favorite, Antico's PR point person tried to dictate headlines on the news to reporters. ( atlantamagazine.com/dini… ). I particularly love how I can't seem to find one single news story written since last October that reports on the status of the investigation. Boooooo Antico. Your pizza may be delicious, but your ethics are nasty.

I don't give 5 stars lightly For a casual spot, this has got to be the best in the city. It truly is the best pizza I have EVER ate. And I'm a pizza but who has been disappointed in Atlanta pizza since I moved here. Haven't had pizza this good even in the NYC. This is my go to spot. I have to force myself to not eat here 3 times a week.

The pizza came out very fast and they tasted mighty good!! We ordered a Margherita and San Gennaro. Although I had better pizza else where the whole experience of dining at this unique place is the experience I would not forget! The atmosphere itself is what makes this place stand out. Because the front cashier wasn't very friendly I give 4 stars but rest of the experience deserves 5 stars.

This was our last stop before jumping on a plane back to Los Angeles, and I felt like I was tansported to Italy. The menu was simple, and to the point. I wish I could've ordered everything. I finally decided on the Margherita with pepperoni. I was not prepared for what came next. As I walked around to the dining room, the air was filled with delectable aromas of garlic and fresh basil, the sounds of happy banter between bites, and the delightful dance that was being performed in the open kitchen. The employees moved with such precision that it could only create the most perfect pizza pie. It is such an experience just waiting for your pizza to be placed right in front of you on its own tray. I absolutely enjoyed every moment, and every bite. It's been months since I've been here, and still my mouth waters at the thought of that pizza, and a curl of a smile around my mouth as I think of how nice, and amazing the staff is here.

The pizza was good! We came here on a Friday evening around 6pm anticipating a long wait and zero seats, but that was the opposite. We waited maybe 10-15 minutes from the time we got in the front door to when we got our pizzas. There were about 8 slices total - although if I cut it it would probably be 10 smaller slices - but nonetheless my husband and I had 2 slices each and packed the rest to go. It's BYOB but they sell wine and other drinks also. The only thing I have to say is the crust was too crusty -- like too much crust, not enough sauce. It was about 1.5" of crust at the end and for me which I'm not used to (NYC Pizza is still the best).

Probably one of the best pizza's you could have in Atlanta. A bit on the pricey side but i thought it was well worth it. This place is authentic, true to NY Style pizza. I highly recommend the San Gennaro Pizza with its Salsiccia which is an authentic Italian sausage with sweet red peppers, and mozzarella, absolute delicious and its freshly made, you can see them tossing the freshly made dough for each order. The crust itself was prefect!

DELICIOUS! Wonderful! So good! This was some of the best pizza I've ever had. I'm fantasizing about it now. The Capricciosa tasted so fresh, light, and garlicky! The San Gerrano was simultaneously spicy, sweet, and tangy. I couldn't decide which I liked better, so I kept eating slices to try and figure it out. Even on a Wednesday evening, this place was super crowded. And it's BYOB, which is nice. My only complaints are that seating sucks. You have to find a table, but the pizza comes out very quickly, so you don't really have time to find one. And they don't care. If you don't have a table, they will just set your pizza on a box in the corner and leave you to eat standing up. Therefore you have to stand around the tables, like a vulture, and give people the evil eye until they get up. Not that I did that. In all seriousness though, if you eat here, and your party is finished eating, and there are obviously people waiting for seats, don't just sit there chatting! Rude. Also, it's pretty easy to get your pizza to go, so that's an option. If it's not too hot, you could just eat outside on the grass or in the parking lot. My other complaint is the the room where most of the seating is located is also the dough room and it was HOT. I get it, they're baking pizzas in there, but so hot! Eventually, they brought in a giant fan, but by then I was already wilted. However, I'd suffer through those minor complaints for some more of this pizza. Next time, I think I'd probably bring it home and eat it in the comfort of my hotel bed and AC. If you live anywhere close to Atlanta, GO HERE!

I cant think of one bad thing to say....other than the fact ill have to fly from Phoenix to Atlanta to get my fix again. This place had the best pizza this side of the Atlantic and even rivaled the pizza over in Italy. Great food and an awesome atmosphere.

So I slow cooked a meal for about 8 hrs today. My friends called me half an hour before it was done and said they were going to Anticos.... Long story short - I put the crock pot food in Tupperware and just finished a 4 slices of amazing pizza. It's THAT good.

Limp crust. Way to greasy! Attitude of the employees is awful n they turn their nose up to u. Seating is even worse. Once u get a spot, someone is hovering over you waiting. Daniel b's palate is confused on this one. It shows how basic he really is! Price is next.....seriously! 5 to 7 dollars to high for the size of the limp pie

Big ups to Yelp and Doug B. on this one. I have never been one to hide my love of pizza and I love everything about Antico, EVERYTHING!! We walked from Marta Arts Center station to get here (on vacation with no car). I love the process of ordering up front getting a number and finding a spot in the packed communal dining room that feels like you are in the kitchen. I love that everything here is on display, the dough making, the pizza makers, the wood fire ovens, THE WOOD, the pile of utensils and roll of napkins on the tables. I love being in a place with such joy and a great equalizer of people eating amazing food with their new neighbors. I love the servers with industrial baking trays (no need or room for plates) yelling numbers to find the owners of some of the best napolitano pizza I have had, which I also love. We heard 159 yelled out, that was us! Our tray was sat in front of us representing red and white. Margherita D.o.p, the dough seared crispy and chewy, the sauce not too sweet, the salty cheese perfectly balance and fresh basil. Bianca, same crust, four amazing cheeses and basil. I can't tell you which one I liked more. These pies were bigger that we expected so when we had our fill we walked over to the stack of pizza boxes and helped ourselves, carried them to Midtown station to funny looks of two people riding a train coveting pizza takeout. If they only knew how worth it the train ride and 3.5 mile walk for the magic we had in our hands was. Well worth it. Antico has made me a pizza hippie.

I used to live in Naples, Italy and it has forever changed my taste of pizza. I'm very picky when it comes to pizza, there have been a few woodfired pizza joints, but nothing quite like I had in Italy. Then I ended up at Antico and all the nostalgia came back to me. All I had was their Margherita pizza, but when a pizza is that perfect you don't need any fancy ingredients. They use real buffalo mozarella and don't cover the whole pie with cheese. They spread out the cheese allowing you to see the sauce as well just like they do in Italy. My expectations were high for this place and Antico far exceeded them. If anyone is planning on making a trip to Italy for the pizza, save your money and go to Antico. Oh and a cool little side note, the last time I went, Usher was there. Yes THE Usher.

Take-out review: Some of the best thin pizza I've had in a long time. Quick and delicious and relatively cheap. The good: The pizzas are amazing. They do take out, but if you do manage to dine in the experience is great. The ovens and cooks are all right there in front of you. But really, it's all about the great pizza. The bad: Not a lot of seating Atmosphere: 10/10 Service: 8/10 Food: 9/10

seriously, pizza like NO OTHER! I find myself craving it so often. The margherita is the only one I have tried but I hear its the best one. Its such a simple pizza but the ingredients are so fresh and they way it bakes so perfectly in the oven is TO DIE FOR! Seating is a little funny, as it is more like a sharing a table with strangers type of deal but its fine because theres plenty of space. If you live in the area and havent been here, youre committing a crime!

Great pizza! As good as the best I've had in New York. The perfect crust, thin with the right amount of char. The service is friendly and the Ethiopian hostesses are gorgeous.

Always always always crowded and hard to maneuver // usually have to wait a good bit for a table. Why? Bc it's GOOD! Only thing is, I wish they'd expand and get more seating. But, it's kind of fun to be in that kind of atmosphere! Oh, and you can BYOB! It's fun.

Pretty much no other way to describe it than best pizza I've had in Atl. I've also been to Italy and I would say it stacks up pretty well. I stick with just normal margarita pizza or the San gerrano. I live pretty close and it's dangerous how much I want to go. The whole little Italy area is such a cool thing they have brought to atl

We had been to the Anticos in Alpharetta and was the best pizza my wife and I had ever had. We had some friends come in town this past weekend and decided to take them to Anticos downtown after a visit to the aquarium. The atmosphere at this location is amazing! Italian music and can see everyone cooking the pizzas in the wood fire grills. So happy because our friends agreed that this was the best pizza they had ever had!! They said it ruined all other pizzas for them for life!

Place totally lives up to the hype. This place is the best Neopolitan style pizza I've ever had -- and I've been to all the "critically acclaimed" places in SF and NY but this place is zee best! Something about the springy chewiness in the dough that gives it a crispiness but fluffy inside. And just overall super high quality ingredients. And the best are the peppers and garlic oil from the condiment bar!! Gotta take that oil and drizzle all over the pizza and dip the crust. Just bite the bullet and have dragon breath for the evening -- trust me. DIVINE!!! I like how this place serves high-end restaurant quality pizza but the dining room is like a low-key cafeteria. Pizzas come out on big, industrial sheet pans with parchment paper, you probably won't find a place to sit on a weekend night and people are yelling order numbers. And of course BYOB -- they only have a limited selection of beer. I loved everything about this place!!

I love pizza and if you're also a pizza lover you have to try Antico's. It surprises me to know that many of my friends have yet to try Antico's. Definitely recommend :) Also try the fresh garlic as one of the side toppings!

Some of the best pizza I have ever eaten. Great place for a group of friends to go have a cold beer and really good pizza. Oh yeah, you can bring your own wine. The pies are ready really quickly and the open style table (you may be eating with others you don't know) give the place a really cool vibe.

Fantastic pizza... It's definitely the real deal. Super fresh ingredients, the sauce was like no other pizza sauce I've tasted before. The lunch hour actually moves pretty quickly which was a pleasant surprise. You order, get a bottled drink (no fountain drinks here!) and grab your own table and wait for the pizza to come out. You can watch the pizzas being made and see the huge brick ovens that were imported from Italy. One tip: take your own drink in. I took water just bc it was a hot day and I try to minimize trash from water cups since I have my own. But my cup was empty by the time I got there so I ended up getting a bottled water anyway. Next time I'll plan ahead.

I am fortunate to have lived in Italy for two years. It's been 15 years and this is the best real Italian pizza of this style I've had since coming back. Hands down - The best. It's super casual and you can sit with a large group. The condiments are amazing and all premium - FRESH grated Parmigiano-Reggiano, several types of hot peppers and good Olive oil. I wish I had this place in California. The crust is tender, with little burned pockets from the brick oven, amazing sauce and ingredients.

Poor customer service and lackluster business practices. If a business is unable to accommodate a patron, then such should be relayed when said patron calls the establishment as opposed to when one shows up not even 10 minutes later only to be turned away. Highly disappointed.

I'm one of the obsessed fans. Eating this pizza takes me back to living in Italy in one bite. Only go on a random weeknight if you don't want to be stuck waiting for ages and stalk people for seats. Byob keeps the price low. Not sure what is happening with the labor dispute with the government but the pizza has staid high quality despite high turnover in staff recently. Every pizza is great so work your way through them all but also try one of the canolis for afters! Tasty and another taste trip to Italy.

  • Joe B.

Oh man-the real deal! Don't go for atmosphere--go for pizza straight from Naples (I know). True brick oven pizza-perfect chew-high quality toppings, made when you order. Excellent. Try the broccoli-rabe sausage-please note...this is NOT Little Caesar's, so come with dough (pun fully intended). If you dine in.... Decor is white t-shirted men, 3 brick ovens, and some mounted tv's. The cruel would call it a dump, but make no mistake the focus is on that magical pizza . Calzones are just as authentic and delicious. Can't wait to try em' all!

I was visiting a friend in Atlanta for the first time. To be honest, I had envisaged myself gulping chicken wings and soul food and dribbling country gravy on everything. It's cliche, I know. But that's why I like traveling. My friend's sister heartily recommended this place, and off we went, driving through the after-work traffic of downtown Atlanta. It's a charming and simple set up, what I imagine a pizzeria in Italy to be. There's communal seating, a no frills menu, a bunch of ovens. I nearly leaped for joy by the BYOB aspect of it. I must have looked the fool asking the cashier to please keep the cork for our bottle of red wine, thankyouverymuch. We ordered the margherita pizza with pepperoni. It was amazing pizza. Thin chewy crust - and I am a definite crust woman - with simple good flavors, and none of that coagulated grease that is so prevalent with fast food pizza. A total find in Atlanta! We stayed and ate until they closed the place up.

I am picky when it comes to pizza... I am kind of a girl who doesn't eat the pizza pie to the end, I leave the crust part on the plate.. But this place blew my mind.. Watching them making pizza from scratch with fresh ingredients was amazing. We ordered Margherita pizza and we didn't take a slice Togo.. I would say everyone should try this place. It is like Italian Pizzeria in Atlanta backyard. This is my new favorite place...

Ok I super love Antico and it HURTS me to give it 3 stars but some issues... Parking: Disastuh. Seating: Limited. Hover OBSTRUSIVELY and fight for a spot. You'll never see these people again. I hope. Prices: Wahhh Pizza: The first few times I came to Antico, all the pizzas (especially San Gennaro) were PERFECTION. The last couple times I was here....this is no longer so. The Diavola was so salty I thought I tasted the ocean. And the toppings! Why so stingy with the toppings... And the worst travesty of all...the crust was SO BURNT. What happened!?!? Antico, please rise up again.

I absolutely loved the calzone! The cheese was melty, salty, and just plain amazing! Frmo my understanding, the owner imports some of his ingredients from Italy, and you can tell because the calzone tasted fresh and authentic. I have not tried the actual pizza, but will update my review once I do! Definitely going there again! Also, you can walk across the street at the end of your night for some gelato and coffee! The ambiance is like a pizza place, so very casual, with lots of college folks. And you order food at the front and then a server brings the food to you.

The five stars are deserved. There isn't a comparable pizza within 1000 miles. I have eaten at most top pizza places in Ny (Di fara, johns, grimaldi's, lombardis, artichoke), nj (star tavern, conte's, Benny tudino's (keep it)) and connecticut (Pepe's, Sally's, roseland). This is as close to those places as you'll get. The ingredients are simply better and they care about how good the food is. The atmosphere is nice and casual, music fits, they have soccer on quite often, cool touch seeing pizzas being made. And they give you a nice little "fixins" bar. Pizza has good variety. I don't eat meat but I have brought many others in and they go nuts for every other pizza. They sell wine or you can bring which is different. They have beer and soda along with water. This is simply a great pizza option. The gelato place right next door offers killer desserts. One stop and good family spot.

Great pizza and love the family style ambiance! Went hear during a wedding weekend, and we got the Margherita DOP with pepperoni. It was delicious. Soft chewy crust with a little char on the base. Fresh mozzarella, San Marzano tomatoes, basil, and to of sliced pepperoni in strips. We didn't have to wait too long either and seating at the time was not bad. I can see how the wait cold deter some people, but the pizza is worth it A word of caution, the pizza is Neapolitan style do the center can get a little soupy. Tasty soup though!

Last night was my first trip to Antico Pizza, and I am already looking forward to my next trip. Everything you have read here is true, you can bring your own beverage, and the pizzas are only sold whole. Our group shared the Lasagna pizza (meatballs, ricotta, and basil) and really enjoyed it. Being a Friday night, Antico was packed and parking was a bit difficult to come by, but the wait was worth it. I am already looking forward to returning to try one of the calzones.

I loved this place until I met the owner, rude and arrogant. Calls himself the owner of the neighborhood, his words! Zero customer attention. Acts like an unsophisticated disco bouncer. A real disappointment.

I found her; she's the one. The Diavola PIzza is my current favorite pizza of all time. BUT, this is a special kind of favorite. This is not favorite in the same sense a Chipotle burrito is my food of choice everyday for the rest of my life, but rather, an occasional special treat. Considering this is a $20 beast, this not your everyday meal. This is a very thin and flavor heavy pizza. Your mouth will be burning with intense salami saltiness and tomato sweetness at the same time. Those out there in the empty diavola-pizza-less void, please, walk towards the light. TLDR: My favorite pizza thus far

Authentic Neapolitan pizza crafted before your eyes in the no frills, basement-like kitchen/dining room. Crazy fast (pizzas beat some of us to the table after we ordered up front) and crazy loud (literally couldn't hear the person sitting beside me). Our three pizzas were larger than normal for a Neapolitan-style pizza, but each was delicious. Simultaneously loved the experience and couldn't wait to get outside, where the Antico Gelateria awaited to offer our ears a much needed respite and our taste buds yet another treat to complete our Atlanta Little Italia experience.

The quality of the pizza is very good and love the ability to pull your own basil for your pizza. However, while it's good, prices are extremely steep for ATL pizza and the atmosphere isn't very desirable. It's chaotic, fighting for seats, and no order, calling out numbers, and fighting elbows for space. It's just not relaxing. Don't get me wrong, it's a very solid pizza, but the environment and experience is just not worth it to me, especially when there are other places to get a good pizza.

  • Nikki G.

This really is the best pizza in town, you just need to come at off-peak times to avoid the insane crowds. It's family style seating, but you could end up standing and eating if it's busy. Somewhat pricey for pizza, but delicious!

  • Kerri C.

Hands down the best pizza EVER and that's saying a lot considering I lived in New England for 21 years! I've tried most of their pizzas and definitely recommend the San Gennaro. This place is BYOB and communal seating which makes it great for a casual night out with friends or a date. It gets packed almost every night so finding a seat can be a challenge but it's SO worth the wait/stalking people leaving. The pizzas are made right in front of you in the back kitchen and the ingredients are so fresh. I highly recommend Antico Pizza!

  • Michael S.

Great great great! Such a cool place with great pizza. Very unique, great experience. Would recommend to anyone, looking forward to going again someday. Not cheap, but fast! Unlike any pizza place I've ever been to. You put your order in up front and take a seat in the back where you have an open view of the kitchen. Italian music is blasting, dough is tossing and pizza is cooking!

  • Aaron G.

Better than the pizza at Pizzaiolo in Florence Italy...uou order and find a spot anywhere you can sit and they have unlimited fresh condiments for pizza(parm.,red pepper, oil, etc.....my gosh is the pizza sooo good and reasonably priced it is almost robbery for how good the pizza is. Only advice: order more than you think you can eat because you will definitely finish all of the food.

  • Edward W.

4.25 stars on the worldwide pizza scale. 5 stars in the ATL. Community tables. Busy. Lines out the door. Limited parking. Terrific old-world style pizza. These are all hallmarks of Antico. The Margherita pizza is the star: delectible with buffala mozzeralla, fresh basil and a crispy, slightly burnt (read: amazing!) crust. If your kids want Domino's style pizza, then bypass Antico, as they won't be happy. This is real pizza. Worth the drive, and worth the wait in line. If you call your order in it's sometimes difficult to get your message across to the order taker. English as a second language can translate into a pizza surprise upon pick up. All in all, go to Antico. Real. Pizza.

  • Tristan A.

From the line out the door...and the amount of people that were sitting down enjoying themselves, the anticipation to eat this pizza was real. I really like the community style tables, where you get to sit next to someone you may not know and make a new friend. Since I went Saturday during dinner rush...there were noooo seats available, unless you had someone sitting and holding a spot for you (which most people in line already done). The atmosphere seems to be really buzzing. I also liked how the people sitting at tables can see the pizzas being made. From the time it took me to get thru the line and have my pizza in hand...told me that this place is built for speed. I always get worried when I get my food too fast...since from my experience, it usually lacks quality... Now for the pizza. I ordered a Diavaola to go. I made sure that I ate a slice in the car before going home, so I can make a fair judgement, since it may taste different when I get back to my place. I expected the crust to be slightly burnt or burnt all together, since those brick ovens are crazy hot. I felt as if the pizza was not left in long enough, since it was extra doughy and when you pick up a slice, it immediately folds down and toppings just start falling everywhere. I did enjoy the toppings and the peppers, just wish they had a little more char on them. After that...I was all types of disappointed. The last thing someone should want...is saggy pizza. I wish I had the chance to visit this place a few years ago...since the reviews rave about this place back in 2012. For me?? I would go for the atmosphere, thats about it.

ALMOST as good as pizza from Brooklyn! The place is medium sized, cafeteria style, and just as loud as one. There's a place where you can watch them make the pizza which is always nice. Th pies are huge and we're idiots and ordered two - the margarita and the pomodoro. It was greasy, hot, cheesy, and delicious. I really liked it. It was a favorite in Atlanta. Pizza is a bit expensive but will definitely come back here!

No words. Its that good. Go and enjoy on a date or with your group. BYOB make some new friends and enjoy this little gem of a place. I've been now for times and waited to write a review on the off chance the good experiences were a fluke. They weren't this place is the real deal in fresh, hot, authentic pies and communal dining.

Delicious. Above all it is DELICIOUS. Next it is inexpensive, FAST (oh so fast), and so fresh. What's more fresh? Doing it yourself in Italy. What's the next most fresh? Pizza Antico. Don't second guess this: not fancy but great food, good date spot, BYOB. Terrible parking but you're going to uber anyways, who are you trying to kid?

Let me tell you! This spot was Sooo cool! I enjoyed the atmosphere and the huge tables. I enjoy meeting new people so if you don't mind sitting at a huge table with people you don't know then you will love this place. They serve Italian pizza on huge trays and we ate our meal straight from the tray lol!! Oh, and you can bring your own wine if you're in to that sorta thing. I didn't get a chance to try many of the additional toppings but I hear they are amazing! Can't wait to go back. I gave it a 4 out of 5 because it was super busy and the hosts and servers didn't seem too prepared to handle the rush crowd but it was cool!!

$20 and up for a simple pizza. They're pretty large for the Neapolitan type though. Enough for two. Pretty tasty but underdone, doughy crust. The cashier girl/order taker wouldn't look up from her iPhone for a couple minutes while I stood there. My pizza was a bit cool and I asked for it to be burned a bit more. A cook said they couldn't do that. As I was about post a really bad review they returned and offered to make a whole new pizza, then threw the first one away. The new one was Americanized with more sauce and cheese, not what I asked for. Walked across the street to check out their gelato store. At $5 for a single scoop with no samples allowed, I passed.

  • Andy S.

This pizza is very good. It's a thin crust pizza that reminded me of New York style. The pizzas range in price and can easily feed three people. There were only two of us and we took some home. We ended up getting the lasagna pizza, which is topped with beef and ricotta cheese as well as tomato sauce and mozzarella. It was very tasty. I think it was $20. This is an order at the counter kind of place. Then the pizza comes out pretty quickly. They have several pizza ovens going at a time.

  • Trent B.

Really good pizza. It is all cooked over a wood fire in huge ovens. You get to watch the cooks make the pizza in front of you. Really fun restaurant with tasty food.

  • Pauline H.

I had way better pizza than this place. First of all, the pizza was burnt on the crust and on the bottom of the pizza. It was so bland and soggy. They gave very little cheese. I had to drench my pizza with Parmesan just to make it taste palatable. I think the pizza is overpriced for what it is. I got the classic margherita pizza and I thought the spread of the cheese and basil was not uniform. (Especially when they only put 3 dinky little basil!) They did not put any love into it.

Really good pizza for those who love that style. Not for the Pizza Hut types. The owner was so nice for our large party, too. A must if you are looking for pizza in Atlanta.

  • Tara S.

I adored my experience here. Don't let the other reviews intimidate you re: the counter girls and seating situation. You will find a seat and you only deal with the counter person for like 45 seconds. Sit in the main dining area where you can watch dough, the wood burning ovens in action , etc. Don't forget the little complimentary toppings bar! I recommend a margarita with peppers or sausage, and a bottle of wine to split for two people is the perfect thing. Get gelato next door afterwards!

  • Britney D.

Antico is the bomb!!! I love their pizza. We always get the San Gerrano. I love the entire concept. BYOB! The only downfall is if it is crowded seating can be a bit hectic and parking as well. I wish they were open on Sunday. Other than that some of the best pizza Atlanta has to offer.

  • Lisa Y.

The best pizza in Atlanta, no doubt. We've been meaning to make a visit here for some time so we finally made the long awaited visit. J recommended we try the San Gennaro since he said they had some rave reviews about it, and we got the classic margherita pizza. Hands down, the San Gennaro was a favorite amongst us. The sweet red peppers added a whole new element to the pizza and I don't think there was enough to go around lol. After having the San Gennaro, the margherita was lacking in the essential flavors we became accustomed to from the San Gennaro. If you only get one pizza, seriously, get the San Gennaro! :) Seating is a hassle! It's packed and the establishment is definitely way too small, however the atmosphere adds more to the experience. We had trouble managing to grab seats but don't give up! You'll get one... Eventually lol. They play loud Italian music that makes it feel a tad over dramatic but we enjoyed it and laughed at how the music made us feel like we were anticipating a gun battle, buildings exploding, or both lol. I would recommend bringing your own drinks such as a bottle of water or a fountain drink. The small cans of soda are definitely not worth the price of almost $2. 2 pies and 4 drinks ended up costing a little over $55 so note that it is expensive, but SO worth it!

I just had my first and last experience at Antico this evening. While food may be great it is the service that really defines a place...this place has VERY poor customer service. As a minority individual I am appalled at the treatment I received while dining tonight. After paying $28 on a pizza (which while good just isn't THAT great) our order was missing. Why you ask? Because they gave it away to someone who claimed they had our order number without checking the ticket. After 30 minutes we inquired about our pizza ourselves. When the servers noted their mistake they assured us our food would be out right away. It came 20 minutes later incorrect. After sending the food back I requested to see a manager. He finally made his way over after we received our correct order with not a hint of remorse. We were told that mistakes happen and I should take a look around and see how busy they are. After I asked for a refund he berated me and raised his voice. I then told him I would never return to Antico...he shrugged then returned to the kitchen to give an animated recap to his staff. Disgusting. Mission number one...I'll be contacting the owners of Antico and pressing post for this review. TERRIBLE... Mr. Manager...whoever you are...though you may have felt smug in front of your employees when you went to the kitchen and laughed and gestured how you silenced me in front of my young mentee (who raved about your place - well used to). I'm happy to let everyone I know and coach and mentor that this is NOT the place to go.

On a recent business trip, our consultants suggested we eat here. We had reservations at another location, but an audible was called since it was late and we just wanted to grab something. One of the consultants said his last meal on Earth would be Antico pizza - so had to see what was about. Can't say I was disappointed. It was very, very good pizza. Great vibe, though I felt old as most of the diners were college age. We grabbed the dough room - which is the room they actually make the dough. There's a table in there and you stand. Although they serve wine, they let you bring your own - which was nice! But 10 of us, just ordering pizza's left and right, standing, and drinking great wine was a great way to end a long day at work. The pizza itself was the perfect, fold it and eat kind. Classic thin pizza with a ton of flavor. We got the following pizza: Margherita DOP, Capricciosa, Diavola (2), San Gennaro, Verdura (2), Bianca, Vesuvio and Pepperoni. My favorite was the San Gennaro - most flavorful of them all.

This place is so cute and amazing. A friend and I went to this place for a quick bite. It is so quaint and authentic. The menu is in Italian and the prices are in eruos and U.S. Dollar. The tables are large community tables and mad for sharing with other people you can watch the pizza as it is being cooked. Our food was served fast. I will definitely go back. The food is amazing.

I like Antico for the following reasons - - family style sitting messy but very relaxed - fast and efficient service - great pizza - yes we heard the oven was shipped from Italy - my favorite is the napoletana - meatball and broccoli perfect balance I like - generous with help yourself sauces and peppers cheese and Olivia oil !!!! - bring your own drink and they give you wine opener ! So it's awesome service again A couple things I don't like - - parking - always crowed and it's hard to find parking if you go during busy times - AC - maybe it's the oven it's too hot in there and one time I almost fainted part of it is alcohol so I can't blame Antico 100% In one sentence - it is the best pizza in ATL!

The pizza pricing is a bit above average, so I expected a bit above average tastes and textures. Totally makes that old saying true, "you get what you pay for" and you paid for a quality pizza at Anticos. I was certainly surprised at the fresh ingredients on my Italian pie. What a nice surprise to find such a pizzeria in Atlanta. This definitely raises the standard. My first bite said more to me than any human being could. It was like having a first date every time I bit into that pizza, which was totally large enough for at least 3 people. After two slices, I was stuffed... and I usually eat 3 at most pizzerias. There has been some controversy over the employees being without legal documents and that really turns people away from what I hear, but Yelp is more about the quality of service and product than it is about politics. I have to say this place is certainly worth a visit though the service can be lacking here, but that didn't even cross my mind when I bit into that amazing first slice.

Really flavorful and delicious Neapolitan style pizza. In the heart of midtown Atlanta, and is ALWAYS busy! We love the traditional and the spicy--each one has a thin crust and just all around yum. A bit pricey for pizza, but I think it's worth it!

Best pizza in Atlanta, hands down. Arguably the best pizza and the South, and heck y'all it wins awards for being one of the best pizza in the U.S. My husband and I adore the Diavola with its spicy ham and peppers. This is a pizza not for the faint of heart. I'm always a fan of a good Margherita pizza with the fresh tomatoes and basil. BYOB! Bring your own beer , wine, or non-alcoholic beverage... although the prices for drinks aren't that bad. I love their peach tea to cool my palette after a hot pizza. Also, Gio's next door serves an awesome menu along with gelato and coffee. I still need to check out Bar Amalfi one of these nights, but until then "Ciao!"

Oh. So THIS is how real pizza is done. Antico is the closest that I have been to true authentic Italian pizza since I was actually in Italy a few years ago. My journey to Antico has been built up for years. Since the day I moved here over three years ago, I have heard of this place. THE best pizza in Atlanta, so they said. Tucked away, a little gem off of 14th Street near Howell Mill in Midtown. Right in the heart of Atlanta, but somehow it took me over three years to get there. The hole-in-the-wall pizza joint is part of a quaint little area fittingly dubbed "Little Italia" corner of real deal Italian eateries centered around the little corner on Ethel Street. Parking is a little bit challenging as the place has obviously become an Atlanta foodie legend over the years. They have a little lot behind the restaurant, but that was all filled up when we pulled up around 7:30pm on a Tuesday evening. We ended up doing a parallel parking job on a little side street across from the McDonald's. When you step up and through the doors of the unassuming little home turned pizza joint, your nostrils are greeted with the pleasant aroma of garlic and tomato and floury dough. My head and my heart and my tummy all agreed in that moment: I was in the right place. As soon as you walk in, there is a big glass window that separates the entry way from a dining room with a long table of hungry and oh-so-happy patrons. So this is the communal table dining I had heard about! How adorable, I thought. But this was only the beginning. We placed our order for a pie to go up at the counter, settling on the verdura (broccoli, tomato, mushroom, garlic, cheese). There are no sides to be had - no silly garlic knots, no salad distractions. It's all about the pizza (though there are a few calzones on the menu if you want to spice things up). They have a refrigerator with sodas, waters, Pellegrinos, wine, and Peronis. You can buy beer and wine on site or opt to bring your own. Be warned - you cannot "mix and match" and do half with meat or other customized combinations. No slice either - just whole pies that can feed about 2-3 people. They do what they do so well that I can forgive them for being stuck in their ways. I actually respect that they stick to the true recipes as they are. The classic black and white menu above the cash register lists out the pies in US dollars and Euros. Real deal, I tell ya. The ingredients for each pie are in Italian, but it isn't too difficult to decipher since most of the pizzas are simple and straightforward with toppings like fresh cheeses, garlic, basil, and tomato. It sounds easy as pie (pardon the pun), but these pizza masters are not churning out your run-of-the-mill pizza pies. Don't believe it? Step right up and watch these pizza pros work their magic. We wandered into the back area that I assumed was just a kitchen, but I was very wrong. Here I came to learn what the real communal dining experience is that I had heard so much about. There are 6 or 7 long tables, about the size of the one in the little dining area by the window in the front of the place. And of course every seat was filled. The dining area was separated from the kitchen by a counter with napkins and such. And my, what a kitchen it is. The pizza chefs are hard at work, spinning dough and artfully placing the ridiculously fresh toppings onto each pie. There are three large pizza ovens, and boy do they get a lot of action. These guys are moving those pies in and out with grace and skill. When I was there, they were even kind enough to let a small group of tourists pop behind the counter for a photo op with the pizza gear. They have boxes piled up along the wall for customers to take home their leftovers. No way you want to leave a crumb behind. All I could do was stand in awe as I took it all in. The dining room and kitchen are not fancy by any means. It looks a bit like a cafeteria hall, and it is a bit noisy/chaotic with hungry customers scrambling for spots at the table. But this place needs no frills - it's all about the epic pizza pie production and consumption. Let me tell you: biting into that delicious pizza may have been long overdue, but it was well worth the wait. The mushrooms were succulent, the cheese was just the right amount of gooey, the tomatoes were juicy, the broccolini was tenderly flavorful, and the dough was utterly perfect with it's not too crispy but just browned enough floury foundation. Cue the salivation. We opted for the takeout option, but I will be making a return trip in the near future for the full on family dining, BYOB experience. So real, so fresh, so unique. I'm now going to be one of "those people" that raves about this little Italian escape in the heart of ATL.

Loved this place! Yummy authentic pizza, great atmosphere and the tables are cool. I wish there was one in Naples, FL!!!! Definitely a must go if your in the area.

Just finished a delicious pizza dinner for 4. Enjoyed everything about this highly touted place, EXCEPT the CASHIER, who took our order was really rude - and seemed angry at us- as we quickly ordered our meal. Otherwise I would have given this 5 stars.

Waahhh. Antico is good if you're not from Chicago. I've been told over and over this is the best pizza in Atlanta, but I just can't get excited about. So, the crust is awesome. It's thin and bubbly and really flavorful. But The sauce doesn't come through at all, which I think is my issue with the pizza. I love a subtly sweet sauce and this is anything but. We got the San Gennaro. The sausage is very good and I have a feeling their other meats are pretty awesome too. I wasn't a big fan of the red peppers - they were pretty overpowering and I don't like my pizza to taste like sweet peppers. I would go again and try something different. Maybe.

  • Carrie L.

The pizza here is really great. It's extremely fresh and every option is tasty. My only complaint would be that sometimes it can be a little overcooked (burnt) from the oven they use. Also, it is EXTREMELY hot here. I suggest getting it to go because the atmosphere is just short of miserable. BYOB also.

    (4)
  • Chris H.

Okay... The pizza was great! I will give them that. Although, the prices are a little high for what you get. I would have given this place 4/5 stars if was't for there subpar service. I travel from time to time to Atlanta and the very first time I showed up during regular operating hours and was told they were closing down... this was 2 hours before closing time! I was told by an employee that they closed because it was a slow night ::head explodes::

It's true, it's true!!! Amazing pizza and well worth it!! I had the San Gennaro and enjoyed it so much. Only wish the place was bigger but oh well. The outdoor seating, ample parking, excellent food and drinks made it all worth the wait. And I went on a Wednesday!

Please excuse the pretension of this, but when I traveled abroad to Italy my last year of college, my friends and I made it a point to try as many different pizzas while we were there and it was wonderful. The pizzas in Italy are unrivaled. Which was unfortunate because every time I ate pizza back in the states, I'd invariably be asked how it compares. "It's good. It tastes like pizza." But I couldn't help feeling a little sad that I didn't achieve that euphoric sensation that I had every time I bit into a pizza in Italy. I'll just get to the point. Antico Pizza deserves its notoriety. It's delicious. I took one bite; no expectations. Then I tasted it. The bufala. I knew these people knew what they were doing. Everything I've been looking for in a pizza has been delivered to mouth on this chilly Southern day and I am so grateful. Thanks, Antico, for caring. I've noticed.

Food = 3 (just average pizza... authentic, but nothing special) Price = 3 (Ridiculously Overpriced...it's just pizza) Experience = 4 (I really like the atmosphere... but, the small seating made me feel really rushed.)

Antico serves by far some of the best Neapolitan pizza I've ever had (including Italy). At first glance, the place looks small, but then you turn the corner to find a whole back seating area with an open kitchen, which just adds to their pizza magic. You get to watch a small army of dough tossers while munching on your own, which in combination with the blaring italian music drove my italian friend to tears (happy tears of course!). If you're looking for a place to gather your friends, Antico also offer a side room with windows on three sides so you feel a part of the italian imagery while remaining separate from the rest of the crowd! If you still aren't convinced that this should be your very first stop in atlanta, consider that my family recently travelled to san francisco (a food mecca) and turned down a chance for really good pizza because we believe that Antico created a higher tier just for themselves when it comes to pizza. P.S. They truly only serve pizza so BYOB and maybe have some salad before if you want greens because they don't have it.

I've been here at least three times since I moved to Atlanta... And a few more times on my visits prior to moving. Every time was amazing. I forget the names of the pizzas I try... which is rare. I was just more involved on eating/inhaling the pizza than taking pictures or yelping iti guess. Afterwards, we go for ice cream next door and then I pass out. Yes. MARGHARITA PIZZA Staple here. So. Damn. Good. The tomatoes are from Italy. SOFIA Named after Sofia Loren, the actress. Cheesy goodness and truffle oil. That is all. COKE Glass bottles the European way. It's actually cold though. COMMUNAL TABLES Most of the tables here are communal, which is awesome. It saves space, makes people socialize, and easier to put a large pizza on the table to share. Sit down, talk, eat, drink, and enjoy.

The Pizza here is excellent, however the service and seating is chaotic. You have to put up with that to enjoy what is probably the best pizza in Atlanta. What is great: 1) The tastiest neapolitan pizzas I have had. We ordered the Margherita with Calabrian peppers and the Diavolo. Both pizzas were out of this world. 2) Good selection of pizzas - they have 5 red pizzas and 5 white pizzas. The range and selection is pretty good and you will find all the traditional italian toppings you might like. But don't expect to order a Hawaiian - that's not italian. 3) Price is decent - pizzas are around $20 each. What could be better: 1) Very hard to get seating because the place is packed - and we went early at 630pm. When we were leaving at 730pm it was impossible. 2) Pizzas don't come out together which is fine for most, but for us who had a vegetarian in the party and they brought that one out last - it was annoying. 3) The delivery is chaotic. It can happen here that you don't hear the waitress call your number and they end up taking the pizza back, or worse someone else takes it. 4) Communal seating in a place as packed as this brings its own issues. Your group may not be seated together.

The most important thing to do in Atlanta is to have Antico Pizza. Having read their history and knowing their reputation, I had lots of anticipations. Their pizza exceeded all my expectations. So well baked and excellent is what i call it. True pizza. I have tried Diavola, San Gennaro and Margherita. Each beats another. One might think they are overpriced but its seriously worth it. Dont forget to try the Cannoli's.

This pizza is the real deal! Yummy authentic pizza! This is what pizza in Italy tastes like! My family is from Calabria and this tastes like my Nonna made it! The Napoletana pizza is my favorite- I love the brocoli rabe, sausage, and buffalo mozzarella. They use fresh ingredients and everything is so good. One pizza is about $22 dollars, which is not cheap but it is a good size pizza to split with 3 people. If you are dining there, be aware that it is family style seating with these long picnic tables. It is always a little hot in there because of the ovens and the chefs are there making all the pizzas by hand, flipping the dough and you can see that while you wait for your pizza. Wait time varies on how busy they are. They always seemed to be packed at lunch time and it is a small place. Garlic, olive oil, crushed red pepper, cheese, and more are back by the kitchen for you to use.

Great place. Not for everyone. Seating is a little weird and it is a bit expensive, but really very good. One of the few true Ny/NJ pies in town.

I'm not even a huge fan of pizza but this pizza was delicious! We got the San gennaro ($23) which has delicious sausage, red bell peppers, and sweet onions. It was the perfect size to split between two people, and it was scrumptious. I had one slice leftover that I ate a few hours later without even microwaving and it was still good! The pizza comes out super fast which is a huge plus because this place can get quite busy. It's also byob/byow!

Good pizza. Super packed. Prepare to wait in line for a while. The environment is very lively. Be prepared to sit with a lot of strangers.

NO thank you! Even before I was a Vegan I did not like their pizza or the screaming atmosphere. I do like that you can bring your own wine but other than that I don't find their pizza very good. Also, as an Introvert, I don't like having to scream to have a conversation with someone. However, if you like pizza and feed off loud noise and crowds it is totally worth a shot. I also would like to mention that it is weak sauce that the owner was exploiting immigrants working here. I saw it on the news. Shame.

  • Adrian C.

I don't understand what the hoopla is about this place. I went here for a team outing yesterday and my crew was super excited and hype about coming here. First off, the staff is BEYOND rude! They were down right cold and nasty to everyone (not just people in my work outing group but other customers as well). They barked directions at us and were cold order takers. When a young lady asked a question about a pizza on the menu, the girl behind the register said, "can't you read the sign?" Wow! That was strike one. If you are down for paying $42.97 for a pizza and a coke, then by all means be my guest! Each pie averages $20.00 before you add additional toppings like pepperoni, sausage, etc which average $4.00 a topping. OUCH! They don't have fountain sodas so you're paying $2.79 for a small aluminum bottle of coke, diet coke, or water. I asked for a cup so I can get water out of a fountain (greasy pizza should be followed with water!) and she pointed to a sink in the back of the restaurant. I thought she was joking but the joke was indeed on me. That was the water fountain. That was strike two. The third and final blow was the pizza. Had I spent $42.00 on pizza and a beverage that BLEW MY MIND, this review would be different. I'm a food whore, so I'm not above paying a decent price for a good meal! The catch was this pizza wasn't good. It was mediocre pizza at best. My coworkers felt the same way. They were very disappointed they had come out here based on reviews just to have a slice of ordinary (yet expensive) pizza. Why wasn't it good? Well, the sauce was bland, the crust was burnt, there was barely any cheese, and the pepperoni was EXTRA greasy (in a 'I think I'm going to be sick' kind of way"). Speaking of sick. . . I actually got sick from the pizza. It may be my crazy stomach, but I've had a nauseous stomach ever since eating here. That is strike three, they're OUT. Sorry guys, I hated it. You may have a different opinions but I wish I hadn't have come here. P.S. most people hate the atmosphere (pick a table and sit next to strangers type of eatery) and the atmosphere was the only thing about this place that didn't piss me off.

Great pizza, the only problem I had was the lack of air circulation. It was hot and humid, which kind of influence the whole experience. Byob! Love it! More restaurants should follow the trend.

?loosing it's mojo. this was my third visit to this establishment. Was absolutely crazy about it the first two times, but somewhat disappointed yesterday. Got two pizzas. one the classic marguerite and the other was the PROSCIUTTO E RUCOLA . I'm kind of a pizza snob and i enjoy making my pies from scratch. i understand the minimalist approach;it's easy to over due it with ingredient. Well, this was under done with ingredient. Don't know if they're cutting corners or just caught them on an off day, but if felt like saying.."hey, but some cheese on this pie..like all over, not just in the middle. other ingredients were sparse. the dough was perfect. i can't ding them for that. not sure if i'll be going back

I almost never care about dining atmosphere when it comes to reviewing a restaurant. Enter Antico. Forget about an open kitchen where you can barely watch the chefs work, here you dine in the kitchen. Three wood burning ovens each with their own name(and perhaps temperature, I didnt ask). Italian music pipped in through the speakers adds to the ambience. Deliveries were coming in while we devoured our pizza, super cool for food centric people. On to the star of the show...THE PIZZA. Was one of those meals where I wish I had two, three, maybe even four stomachs. My dad and I ordered two pizzas with no hope of finishing either. However we are from out of town and wanted to try more than one. We got the traditional margherita pizza and the lasagna pizza. Both were fantastic. Rich, zesty, bright, vibrant sauce, high quality cheese, fresh meat, and a crust/dough with a great saltiness too it and little burn marks. My only slight complaint is i would've liked my dough a little crispier in the middle. Must try for any pizza fanatic. Parking looks like it could be a challenge in peak times. We arrived on a Monday at 1045(they open at 11) and were already 10 people waiting.

don't know what Antico means in Italian but it may very well translate to "Best damn pizza in Atlanta!!" Feel free to confirm. Great service, really cool atmosphere, incredible smells, and the pizza is to die for.. Having grown up in CT and having New Haven and New York pizza at my convenience, it is really tough to find an equally good pizza experience. I have. Antico is really really that good. You start the experience in a queue which leads to where you order. Not complicated, as there are a limited number of choices but all them are great so fear not. Order beverages at same time and take them and your ticket with you to the dining "hall." Stalk a seat next to someone, between people, wherever you can. Listen up for your number, as the deliverers walk around with pizzas shouting out numbers. The whole process takes about 10 minutes.. Hot ovens. Pizza chefs. Smoking pizza. Italian music.. No plates, napkins, or silverware.. You eat right from the tray. It is just awesome tasting pizza. Perfect sauce, just the right amount of cheese, crispy to perfection, and the toppings are ample but not ridiculously piled on. They aren't trying to impress you with anything other than an amazing pizza pie! If you are fun enough to sit cafeteria style with strangers, welcome different experiences, and don't require babying, then you will LOVE this place.. Otherwise? Probably want to go elsewhere. Top 5 pizza joints in U.S. that I've been to.. Ciao!!

The food here is great. I've eaten here a few times. Tried a few different pizzas and calzones. All were awesome! Garlic, olive oil, crushed red pepper, cheese, and more are back by the kitchen. Family style - first come seating. I would not suggest going with more than 4 people. To Go food available.

I don't quite understand the hype. It seems like the kind of place hipsters would be in to for its community style seating and no-nonsense menu. The food was fine, nothing special, overall meh

YOu are going to hear that this is the best pizza in Atlanta. I disagree. I am a Marietta Pizza Co. man. Some people are Fellinis people. I can see why Antico would be some people's favorite. Its worth going once. Parking is non existent. Its crowded with college kids and the staff is surly. It is crazy hot, especially in the main dining area. But its worth trying it out.

I really love Antico! I am pretty picky about pizzas, and this is by far my favorite pizza joint in Atlanta. I would highly recommend a calzone or the sausage pizza, and don't forget to bring beer!

  • Michael L.

Wow...has it really been 5 years since I've been here? It's not the same as it used to be. The crust is breadier/thicker, and the ingredients, as fresh as they may be, just don't give that "punch" or inspiration as it did when I first had their pizza so long ago. I know that some people swear by this place....I think it's above average...but I honestly don't regret not visiting this spot for so long...

The reviews are all true! Best pizza we have ever had!!! Fast paced atmosphere and scavenge for seats makes it fun! There is no wrong choice on the menu!! So damn good and fresh. We tried the margarita pizza and it was amazeballs!! Mmm. basil!! Dough is crazy fresh!!

Bring some beers or a bottle of wine. It's BYOB. It's family style seating and on the weekend prepare for line but it'll move quick. These pizzas cook fast. Lunchtime during the week is a good time to go when they aren't quite so busy. If you like gelato, walk around back.

It's getting harder and harder for me to pick a favorite pizza, but this place is damned near the top of my list. The setup is wonderfully un-fancy, consisting of a series of communal tables in the kitchen area, and some scattered outdoor options. The menu is also simple, and strictly take it or leave it. No deletions, no substitutions, which usually turns me off, but in this case, it makes the process go much faster. Did I mention fast? Lightning fast! We were barely seated when our pies were brought out. This is Jimmy Johns fast, but with better food! Did I mention yummy? Oh yes, there is a whole lotta yummy here. I went with the Bianca White Pie, and it was perfect. The only place I've been to that does White Pie this well is Secret Pizza in Las Vegas. I cannot recommend this place enough, hope to come back soon!

  • Donya T.

Definitely some of the best pizza that I've ever had. If you're not sociable and opposed to communal seating, this is not the place for you but if you don't care about that and just appreciate great pizza, this is definitely the place to go. The ingredients are fresh, the pizza comes out quickly. We waited less than 5 minutes to find 2 seats together. We exchanged pleasantries, thoughts on the pizza had a few laughs with the people sitting at our table. The pizza is great and I will be back as well as giving the location at the Avalon in Alpharetta a try.

Place is v crowded and hot inside coz of open bakery area. Pizza was the best we have tried in Atlanta so far. Just the the toppings were v minimal. Dono if u can, but try asking them for good amount of toppings on the pizza.

Classic example of Business 101 "What Not To Do When Owning A Business".... this place used to be delicious, got a name for themselves, and now quality has totally gone down the toilet. If you want to pay $24 for soggy bread with no cheese and $7 for 2 waters (they do not have complimentary water), and very rude service, then this is your place. Our pizza was mushy and literally had no cheese... funny, as that is the most expensive ingredient on a pizza. Now that Antico got a name for themselves and there is a line out the door, they have decided to go cheap and sacrifice their quality.

Mangia, mangia!! Come through the ATL, you must stop in to grab a pizza and share some seating with the continuous influx of patrons at this wood fired oven pizza. Even though coming in in a Friday noon, with many people in the establishment, we were able to accommodate nine people. Surprisingly enough, the turnaround time in Antico is extremely fast!! By the the you eat, there is someone already assisting you in removing the large empty baking tray out if your table, once you get up, the table is wiped down and immediately there is someone sitting in your place. I saw this revolve through the open kitchen seating area in no time whatsoever. Now for the pizza. Be ready to mangia, because as soon as your order is placed and you grab some condiments, the pizza is coming your way, piping hot on a sheet pan ready for you to mangia it allllll up. The pies are plentiful, topped well, piping hot, the crust has a good bite and a nice chewy texture that you look for in pizza dough. The toppings are simple but well balanced in the creations listed on their menu. It definitely is worth the trip and the wait isn't even that long. I say do it!

Quite possibly, this is the best pizza I've ever had or ever will have. And I'm a person who considers pizza a food group and has been lucky enough to visit Rome.

I hated any hi carb dish but now wish I could eat Antico pizza for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Good for Antico Pizza, bad for mu waist line. BYOB, sit in the kitchen, watch European football, add extra fresh basil to your Margherita pizza, dip the crust in the spicy garlic olive oil mixture (make your own at the kitchen counter), enjoy your pizza

Awesome atmosphere, great pizza and BYOB. Should I say anything more..??? I would anytime recommend this place. I like the concept that once given an order and you can go sit wherever you want. One suggestion if you don't find any parking space in allotted parking area then just park in front of the restaurant.

We just left there about 5 minutes ago. I told the lady it was our first time there & she wasn't too friendly explaining the menu. We ordered the first pizza on the menu, which consisted of tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, & basil & we added pepporoni. I guess something was wrong with the A/C today, because it was as hot as it was outside. Which is 90+ degrees. Our pizza came out in less than 10 minutes, with about 3 leaves of basil & it looked like they had thrown the rest of the toppings just uncaringly on the pizza. Pepporoni pieces were still stuck together & everything was just distributed unevenly. I had such high expectations of this place because I heard of how authentic the pizza is. It's not fun eating a hot ass pizza in a hot ass building, with toppings just thrown everywhere. It's not worth the price either, for $26. We could have went to Felini's.

Is this your first time trying Antico? You will love it! Are you a regular here for the past couple of years? How Antico has been going down in size makes you and I both sad. Definitely a place to try in Atlanta as it's the most reviewed restaurant, like a lot of reviews praise, the pizza is very very good. It may not fit some but you cannot please every one. General rule for me at the Antico, you have to eat it inside. If you do a carry out, the heat from the pizza starts to make the bread soggy. Yes it can be very hectic to find a seating when you go down at the prime time so try to avoid the busy hours. The food to me is a perfect 5/5. It's the price and portion that reduced it to 3 stars. At around $20/pie, though I share it with my wife, we used to have 3-4 pieces left when we first started coming here. Lately when we drop by for a pie it makes us wanting some more, not because how it tastes, but because the portions have became small where it might be able to feed 1 person.

One pizza is huge! The three of us got the San Gennaro, which was quite delicious and big enough for 3 of people. I wasn't a huge fan of the crust because it was kind of burnt but I can still dig it. The seating is free for all and you eat off of napkins. It can get pretty warm in the summer and you're sitting close to a lot of people. It's BYOB and you have little plastic cups at your tables, which is awesome. I asked someone working there for a wine opener and I had to open it myself, which is chill, but they could've helped. Parking can be scarce during peak hours.

As far as pizza goes, you can't really get much better than Antico. The pricing is expensive but in return you get great quality and a pretty large pizza. Two of my girl friends and I split the $22 San Gennaro pizza which had Italian sausage, sweet red pepper, mozzarella, and onions. It was so large that we were all full and still had another slice left over. Another great thing about this place is that it's BYOB and provide plastic cups so we brought 2 bottles of wine to go with our meal. The seating is also worth noting since it's communal, family style seating. The parking situation isn't bad as they have several little lots that you can park at. We parked at the Antico corporate office lot. What's also cool about this place is that you can walk across the way to "Caffe Gio" (owned by the same company that runs Antico) to get some gelato for dessert.

There is something about Antico's pizza that other pizza places cannot mimic. Probably one of the best pizza in Atlanta if you come on a good day, if not, still good but not enough to "wow" you. Stopped by last night with wife and other couple to get a quick grub. Dropped in with a 6 pack of beer and ordered Sofia and Capriciosa Pizza. None of their pizzas packs heavy flavor but just right enough to have you taste all the aspects of ingredients that go into the pizza.

I can't say much more then what has already been said.. This place has a pretty solid pizza! We ordered the margarita and added pepperoni. The best party is the dough. The crust has so much flavor and a good chew to it. This place isn't getting a 5th star based on the service. We ordered to-go and the young ladies at the reg could use a little help in the polite department. Not very nice. But I guess it's worth dealing with a jerk for so killer za!

Oh my sweet goodness. Except this place is not sweet. We got the Margherita. Most people say these words too much, but this was seriously one of my favorite pizzas I have ever eaten. I will undoubtedly make my way back over here whenever I can. It is a one size pizza, keeps life simple. And the thing was ready in probably 5 or less minutes. Those people were just cranking out goodness to all of the ecstatic pizza goers there. This place is not to be missed or passed up on.

This may be a surprise to some, but I'm usually not a big fan of pizza. The combination of flavors can usually be beat out by some other type of cuisine. But...an experience (and it is an experience) at Anticos may make me rethink my overall position on pizza. Luckily for myself, I got to visit with a bunch of coworkers and we were able to order 5 different pizzas, of which I was able to try 4. Easily some of the best pizza I've ever had. The pizzas that were ordered were the 'Margherita', the 'San Gennaro', the 'Lasagna', the 'Napoletana', and the new 'Sophia'. The sophia was definitely my favorite. A white pizza with truffle and mushrooms, just absolutely the best pizza. My second favorite pizza was the napoletana. Another white pizza with an added oomph of flavor that was just delicious. Next, was the san gennaro. This pizza was a red suace pizza that had a slightly sweet flavor from the sauteed onions and sweet peppers that was pretty awesome. Lastly, but not a bad pizza, was the lasagna. I think I'm just not a huge fan of ricotta on pizza but overall the flavor was pretty great regardless. The pizza comes out faster than a dominos pizza but is 1000x better. If you're in need of a pizza fix in Atlanta you need to go to Antico.

Had a great time here yesterday with friends from out of town. This pizza is some of the best I've tried and certainly better than in Italy (I haven't been to Napoli so clearly I missed out because these people know what they're doing). We brought two bottles of wine and they kindly provided us a cork screw. The girls in the front weren't the most pleasant of species but I'm not deterred nor give a damn about them. We ordered the lasagna and the pomodorini pizzas and both were superb, but definitely liked the lasagna better. Next time I'm having the spicy ones! Full meal for less than $50 with wine! Can't beat it.

Wow. Definitely not going to return to this location again. Something needs to be done about the rude staff-- specifically the cashiers. Everyone else was nice. Puts a sour taste in your mouth when you go to an establishment for the great pizza and end up having your initial encounter with the place involve some miserable, angry employee who is supposed to provide hospitality and service, and instead leaves you wanting to slap her mama for the lack of etiquette and manners. Normally, food outweighs service for me but this is the second visit in a row where the cashier was unbelievably rude. A couple friends and I were in line and we made separate orders. Upon completing my order, my friend stepped up to go next. The girl looks at him and rudely tells him he has to get back in line (mind you, the line was out the door at this point). Uh WHY? She goes "because you can't order again." Uh, I'm sorry, "again??" These are two separate orders for two different tabs from two separate people, both of whom were waiting patiently in line. She had an attitude during the entire encounter and was so extremely rude-- all it takes to do your job is count the correct change and smile and she couldn't do it right. I don't even care if she wasn't friendly.. But downright RUDE? No. You're in the service industry lady. Get it together. Definitely won't be coming back here. Hopefully their Avalon location is better so if I really want their pizza again, maybe I will give that location a try. This terrible encounter makes me not want to ever go back because I don't want to support an establishment with such a low level of hospitality and service. This is my second critical review of their service and I hope they rectify this soon. If I could give negative stars, I would. Such a shame because the food is great.

Okay, first of all, don't tell anyone, but I love pizza... Yes, I do. I had my fair share of pies of Chicago, Californian and lots of New Yorker pies and even Argentinian pies too. Thin-crusts, deep crusts, circles, squares, rectangles, etc... I have read the countless reviews here and figured with all the talk, this place has to be the best place in Atlanta to get pizza. It has to be, right? With an average of 4.5 stars with 1,710 reviews, it is a requirement. Last time I stopped here, the place closed about 3 hours early, because they ran out of dough. After a long day, what else can a person want after a couple of 5K's? Margherita pizza! So I stopped here, the place was packed and I ordered myself the Margherita pizza made with fresh mozzarella di bufala Campana and San Marzano tomatoes. To be honest, the prices look deceiving at first glimpse, one probably first notices the prices, then realizes they are in € Euros, not $ dollars, until they look at the left of the sign. With tax, the Margherita cost roughly $22 and it definitely is enough to eat, yet, for a pizza this size and for the price, three or four leafs of basil I feel is completely absurd. The pizza was decent, but did nothing for my palate as a pie from Chicago or New York could. Maybe it is my fault, I'll have to come back and give Antico Pizza another try. Next time I'll order the Pizza Capricciosa and hopefully I will reach a state of euphoria. [Review #226]

4 stars for their pizza. The toppings on our pizzas were good, but the crust was often times too burnt to eat on the edges. -1 star because we felt like we were cooking with the pizzas in the oven. It was ridiculously hot and humid in the restaurant, making it difficult to enjoy our pizzas.

Best pizza in Atlanta, one of the best in the US. Its BYOB but crowded most of the times. There is valet parking conveniently. Also there are a few restaurants around this which serve Italian food and a common area where you can oder from. Must visit place in Atlanta

Pizza is delicious. Pizza is fantastic when it's from Antico. The dining is very open and communal. Once we ordered our pizzas the search for a table was on. It reminded me of the college dining hall days where you search for that group of people who is almost done eating and you wanna play it cool that you want their table without forcing them to leave. This is the 1st place I've been to or heard of a restaurant having BYOB. BYOB people! Paying a little extra for the fresh ingredients is worth it because #1 the flavor is amazing. And #2 byob brings some savings. A great pizza option is margarita and add sausage. The place is very open and great atmosphere. You can see the pizzas being made to help you drool while you wait. Overall, bring your own drinks, be patient with getting a table and enjoy the delicious pizza.

The pizza here is great. No questions about it. My lower rating comes from the overall experience. I don't like to sweat when I eat. I don't like to feel rushed. Both of these come with the territory of this restaurant. However, I do love that you can bring your own booze.

Noticed the top 10 review on cnn.com and I knew I had to go ASAP. I arrived ten minutes early and began waiting in line. A few minutes before opening, we were offered a sample of the margherita pizza. Very cool! I guess i went with too high of expectations because the pizza was ok. We ordered the margherita and the diavola. The crust had a good taste but was a little too burned. The sauce was good, the cheese was good too but I can't say this was the best pizza I ever had. The meat on the diavola was a little too salty, coming from a person who loves salty foods. I'd say it's good to try but I don't expect to be back.

I've been gone out of Atlanta for a year after traveling, and upon returning I CRAVED Antico's Pizza. All the hype you've read about is true...the pizza is out of this world and is unlike any I've tasted in the States. I love both the greasy, garlickyness of New York pizza and the super-cheesy deep dishes of Chicago, but Antico's is something special. Wait times vary depending on when you go (try for lunch instead of dinner) and once ordered, pizza comes out lightning-fast thanks to their superhot ovens. Worth every penny. It's an essential pizzeria in Atlanta if not the South!

Pizza Pizza Pizza! I love Pizza, so this place is right up my ally. There is some parking in the back of the restaurant, but it's not for the claustrophobic. I believe a new cafe opened up nearby, so parking might not be as ample as before. The first time we went there, the ordering process was a bit confusing. You order the pizza when you walk in and pay, and then move onto the cafeteria. They call out your number and collect the pizza. The choices are somewhat limited, but all of them taste good. The Margarita tastes really good. The Pomodoro tastes good as well, but I think the Margarita one was the better of the two. It's pretty cheesy, and the crust is thin. The cheese and sauce have a very good relationship as well, as it's not too cheesy (although I'm much more forgiving if it is) but neither does it feel like the sauce overwhelms the pizza. They also have a variety of peppers that you can put on your pizza afterwards besides the standard chilli flakes. I especially liked these peppers that were pretty spicy, yet addicting. The seating is cafeteria style, so it's not really all that comfortable. The place is loud though, and it can be hard to talk to people at times. The pizza works much better if you could take out and eat somewhere else actually. The prices are a bit high for pizza than I'm accustomed to from NY, but I think that's a theme I've seen all over the South. If you love Pizza, and are in Atlanta, check it out. I don't think you'll be disappointed by the pizza itself.

I have been here a couple times before and now that I am getting married in Georgia, this is definitely on my list of must-do's for my guests. I love the authentic Italian style. You are sitting all together on these benches just as if you were part of huge Italian family. The pizzas are to die for! Sooooo good in fact, the last time I went...Tom Brady...yes the Patriot star was sneaking in to eat here. It's a small joint with a colorful atmosphere. You will not be disappointed!

Orgasmic pizza! We grabbed a pie to-go and it was phenomenal! The line is worth the wait and even if you don't dine-in, take a walk back to the kitchen area. I loved seeing the crew make the pizza in the ovens. It will discourage you from ordering at a chain or deliver place. I wish I lived closer!

Delicious pizza and great ambiance. Antico's has been my favorite pizza spot in Atlanta. It never disappoints! I usually get the margherita pizza. The dough is always soft and chewy. It is my favorite part. I love how they give you fresh garlic as a condiment because I highly abuse it. Don't hesitate, just go! You won't regret it.

I haven't been in a few years. When we went, it was a chaotic atmosphere; not a quiet-candlelit-dinner place by any means. No, we sat at trestle tables and craned to watch the genuine Italians tossing genuine pizza in & out of genuine Italian ovens. The pizza is just that good. It is well worth eating whilst standing-room-only crowds breathe down your neck, anxious to get your bench spot next.

Let me preface this review by saying that I'm not a fan of pizza in general. Having said that, I'm Probably gonna be coming back to Antico. It's a simple menu. You choose between red sauce or white sauce pizzas. This place serves thin crust pizza. The toppings range from simple to sophisticated. The magic, however, is in their wood burning brick ovens. It leaves a distinct flavor to your pizza. Thinking about it makes me hungry. I think I'll try the white anchovies next visit. Plenty of parking behind the building. They have an adjacent Italian pastry cafe next door. Highly recommended.

I went to Antico on the recommendation of several of my friends, its extremely high rating on yelp, and high rankings on other websites. It fully lived up to the hype. I came with two other people and asked the cashier if one pizza was enough, to which she said we should probably order two. I disagree with this statement. These pizzas were huge and we would have been fine with one. These are pricey pizzas so even though we basically wasted an entire pizza it wasn't too bad since we split it three ways. The pizza came out blistering fast. I can't imagine it took more than four minutes for our pizza to arrive. It was so fast I was almost positive it was someone else's order. It was ludicrously hot when it arrived and of course, I didn't wait to bite it. This quickly resulted with me burning the roof of my mouth. It was well worth it though, because it was delicious pizza. My main complaints were that I felt upsold on the second pizza and the pizza was a bit soggy. Despite these rather minor complaints, I loved this place.

You like pizza. We like pizza. The Ninja Turtles like pizza. Pizza is awesome, all the cool kids know it, and Antico is the place to get it. THIS IS GOOD PIZZA. Hot, melty cheese, good dough, and if you'll just fold the front back in on itself, you will fill your mouth with goodness and not burn yourself. Try it. It's a bit pricey, yes, but you get what you pay for, even in pizza.

Obviously, I'm the oddball on this review because both my husband and I were underwhelmed with this "Fave" and beloved pizza place in Atlanta. But, I'm sorry fellow foodies...this is not one of my "Loves". Primarily because we just didn't get enough flavor in our pies. Plus, the crust was just too soft for us. Granted, we're coming from a perspective of people who grew up on NYC pizza, so we're probably biased. If you're from the Northeast, then you know how crazy we can be about our pizza. Unfortunately, Antico just doesn't compare to little Italy Or our local, corner pizza spot (I promise...no shade, really). But, perhaps that's not the comparison I should be making, in all fairness. From an Atlanta perspective, I tend to like Rosa's Pizza downtown for a close NYC approximation. And, I wanted to love Antico's Bianca and Lasagna Pizzas so much, but I didn't :-(. But, PLEASE...if you are visiting Atlanta Or live in metro Atlanta, you have to try this place at least once and make your own decision. Happy Eating!

I don't do lines. And I don't do the whole scavenger hunt for a seat thing. At Antico you have to do both. It was V-day and my mommy was in town and wanted to try their pizza, so I endured both. It really was a drag having to desperately scan the room for seats, but thankfully we found a place for our party of three. The pizza was good. We had the San Genaro, but I can promise you I won't be back until they add a hostess stand and designated seating for a more civilized dining experience.

Another place that I have wanted to try and finally did today. I like how low key it is inside where you just go find a seat and its all very communal. I got the San Gennaro because that seemed like the best choice for my first visit. It was delicious. It came out kind of unbelievably fast, and it was everything I could have wanted. The cheese was great, the crust was soft and perfect, the sausage was delicious, it was definitely one to remember, and yes it is BYOB here which you don't really find anywhere else. I will for sure come back here when I crave some good pizza.

If this is more in line with what real pizza should taste like, we Americans have been doing it all wrong. This pizza is an experience, not just a meal. It's totally worth the price, and smooshing next to a stranger at one of the community tables in order to enjoy it.

Best pizza of life! I've been here tons of times, it's a regular occurrence for me and has honestly harmed my ability to eat pizza anywhere else. I try other places and am left longing for Antico. Yes, it's hot. Yes, it can be a hassle to find a seat. Yes, the lines are long. It doesn't matter, it's the most amazing pizza you'll have. You can't go wrong with the margherita or the pomodorini which actually doesn't have sauce but you won't miss it.

  • Corean M.

Omg! This was the best margherita pizza I've ever had. The crusty char at the bottom of our pizza was probably the best part, next to the little half melted mozzarella disc on the pizza..mmm. The pizza was done within maybe 5 minutes of us sitting down and let me tell you, it's better than waiting 45 for some of these chain pizza places. I wish I could give it a million stars!

If I was stuck on a desert island with only one thing to eat for the rest of my life, it would be pizza. As a result of my love for this amazing dish, I have dubbed myself what we will affectionately call a "pizza snob." Yet, this may be one of the best pizzas I have ever had in my life - no exaggeration whatsoever. For those haters who are doubting, you would be a fool to ignore a 4.5 star restaurant with nearly 2,000 reviews. Now when my friend was raving to me about Antico, I was a bit worried it would be overhyped and I'd have a disappointing eating experience. There is no way you can leave here disappointed, except maybe for the fact that they for some godforsaken reason do not have an A/C and you will be drenched in sweat after eating hot pizza. Felt like I was in Dante's "Inferno" or something. But I suppose that's why you bring your own cold beer or San Pellegrino (yup, this place is BYOB or they sell some in front if you forget). For around $22 dollars you get a ginormous Neapolitan style pizza that can easily feed a hungry two or three with smaller appetites. We had a hungry three so we force fed ourselves to demolish two huge ones (got only the meaty ones 'cause that's how we roll: Diavola and a San Gennaro)... haha. Make sure you go up to where they're making the pizza and grab extra parmesan cheese, olives, garlic, and other toppings for your pizza. The crust is excellent, the bread is not too wet, but soft and chewey. The cheese, meat, and toppings were amazing. I poured a mountain of garlic on each slice so I had intense garlic breath after my feast was over. This place is truly a gem. Calling all pizza lovers of this world, do yourself a favor and get some Antico's.

This place has good pizza, but there is usually a long line on weekends. The noise level is out of this universe insane and you risk losing some of your hearing. I understand going once to try it, but the crowds make it hard to get a seat. There are better places for a good pie and some relaxation.

I love love love love this place. FIrst off, it's really hard for me not to love pizza. But Antico's is so... adorable. In fact, I love the entire "Little Italy" square in this area. You order at the counter, and there are only a handful of premade pizza combinations for you to choose from, but I believe you can also create your own combination. We ordered the San Gennaro which is topped with sausage, sweet peppers, fresh mozzarella, and caramelized onions. There is plenty of seating, but I really like the kitchen/factory style seating in the back room. I didn't even mind sitting next to a super loud fan. The waitresses run around calling out your numbers, so you want to keep your receipt in case you forget what you ordered. Service was pretty quick. I believe we got our pizza within ten minutes of ordering. They have additional "toppings" for you to pick up, such as hot peppers, fresh garlic, and parmesan cheese. The pizza itself is really tasty and I wish I could get dough that good at the supermarket. Definitely worth the $20+ dollars you pay, but also definitely not a weekly affair, at least not for me anyways. Antico Pizza, to me, is a place of many faces -- family friendly, date friendly, and even if you just came here to grab a bite with co-workers, it all works out.

Great pizza place and nice area to enjoy it (somewhat of Atlanta's version of little Italy) . I always get the diavola pizza because of the flavor and spices, it's delicious and I highly recommend it. This is the only legitimate Italian pizza place in Midtown Atlanta. The place can get pretty crowded during lunch times and weekend. They recently updated the area so it's a little bigger with outside seating area, so it's not too bad now. The pizza are pretty pricey (large with 8 slices) , $22 and above, and there's only tap water for free. Overall, it's great for date night and eating awesome delicious pizza! This is the only reason why I didn't give it a 5 stars rating: The only bad experience I had there is when the cashier took my order incorrectly. When the pizza came out, I tried to exchange it with no success. In fact, she yelled at me for making the wrong order when she definitely wrote it down wrong. She was very rude and I have to suck it up and eat some other pizza, which wasn't very good (unlike the diavola).

Not inclined to go back and pay $31 for a pizza and 2 cokes here. This is not even close to the best pizza ever experienced. Reviewers who say that are missing several points. 1. Pizza is not "made quickly": it's pre-made with fixed toppings. You cannot possibly get a pizza made to order from scratch in less than 5 minutes. It's pizza as an assembly line. 2. You can't even order a simple cheese pizza if that's what you want. It's their way or the highway: that's the way to maintain an assembly line, by fixing the possible combinations of toppings. 3. Crust tastes decent, but it's a floppy crust, much more so than normal. The pics are deceptive: they look enticing, but you can't actually lift the slices by hand without toppings at risk of falling. It requires a lot of folding. Having a crust that floppy means it likely hasn't been baked long enough. 4. Cheese and sauce are ordinary. Good, but there's nothing distinctive or special about it. I would have liked to try a plain cheese pizza to be sure. So what you get is a pizza assembly line, with hastily cooked and likely underdone pizza. The materials are good, and the pizza is not bad, but it is nothing close to the best pizza one can have. All it takes little travel to other cities to figure that out, especially Chicago, New York, and Rome (the one in Italy). Haven't tried many places in Atlanta, but would venture there's better pizza here as well.

One of the best pizza places in Atlanta. I'll admit, I'm not a pizza expert and I won't pretend to be. I just know this place is better than almost everything I've had in Atlanta. My go-to spot is either here or Varuni Napoli. If you like spicy, get the diavola. If you like sweet, get the San Gennaro. Both are delicious!

Took visiting family and friends to experience the Italian fabulousness last night. It was the usual packed parking, great pizzas and then desserts at Cafe Gio. However, I must mention a very unpleasant experience with the cashier at the pizza order counter. We ordered 2 pizzas and 5 bottles of Pellegrino. The bill came to $89 which we thought was high as we didn't think the 5 bottles of water should cost $40. As such we asked the cashier to review the order with us. She refused to, said that's the price and ran the credit card...only after that she read the order back to us. She had ordered 3 pizzas, 1 that we did NOT order. So we asked her to credit back to our card. She was rude, no apologies for her mistake, and told us she couldn't credit it until later. Told us to just go ahead to the dining room and then come back later to get the credit back. It was just bazar, absolutely awful and I was embarrassed that I brought my guests to Antico. I've never had this happen before and I've been here at least a dozen times. It was truly WTF experience. Mistakes happen but if you do, then correct it and maybe be nice to your customers for messing them up instead of being a righteous act like we're the ones who are inconveniencing you? CHECK your RECEIPT and hopefully you don't have the #?#Â¥* we had.
