Solid three for the grub, with an additional star for the friendly service. Had the Chicken Jason with bacon - two rashers for 2 bucks, too pricey an extra - and grilled collards. Sammy was nice but boring. Collards were nice and smokey but needed something more (vinegar, probably). Funky setting. I'd return for some bbq. But probably among the best of Athens, so go.

White Tiger is a great restaurant for vegetarians and vegans too! Be sure to try the grilled tofu and grilled vegetables - super yummy!!

I dug this place from the servie right on down to the meal.. and I had a tofu sandwich. Next time I'm gonna go with a heaping pile of BBQ in some format. From what I hear about their BBQ, I expect to bump it up to 5 stars.

Rockin' BBQ. Some of Athens best. The last trip through I had the smoked chicken sandwich and was blown away. It was moist, tender, smoked to perfection and covered in cheddar cheese on a ciabatta bun. We also had the Mac and Cheese. Perfection. Love the location and the BBQ smoke smell hits you the minute you drive down the street. it's always a treat to eat at White Tiger. Another one of Athens best kept secrets. I haven't had anything that wasn't killer. I have truly enjoyed everything served to me. It's a locals favorite. Give it a shot. You will be happy you did. PS: The chocolate truffles rule my face. DO NOT LEAVE without getting a couple for the road.

Woohoo! New favorite restaurant. Great veggie options. Delish sides. Charming neighborhood atmosphere. "Think local act neighborly"=real motto. Byob!

After intending to go here for a year, I finally made it. The only thing I regretted is that I waited so long. My BBQ was excellent and the atmosphere is great. I had a plate dinner which came with pulled pork, slice of bread, and mac n cheese. I believe next time I would go with an actual sandwich instead as there bread looks great but I was extremely happy with what I had. The other person I went with had a burger and it looked outstanding. He ate every bite, so I don't think he had any complaints. Before leave, we purchased some chocolate covered zapp chips. They were great.

I've started coming here for a brunch group, and it's been a pleasure each time. They have a brunch buffet that has a lot of different options all in the standard-brunch arena (from fruit to french toast, grits, frittatas, veggie stir fry, and a lot more). It is very vegetarian-friendly, although vegans might not have that many options. The space is nice for a large group, and the nice weather makes eating outside even better.

We went for dinner Saturday night after my wife decided she was a little burned out on Sr. Sol (as if that's possible). Our first visit to White Tiger made quite the impression. Just driving up and seeing the outside had my youngest (15) son wondering. We sat down after ordering and he quickly proclaimed that on a scale of 1 to 10, he'd give it a 1! And this before we had our first bite. He's not a fan of funky local joints, I guess. Janis had the Tofu-Q and loved it. The boys both had the Happy Top Burger and also loved them. I had the Alice Burger and was not disappointed. Isaac revised his rating to a 10! after his burger was consumed. He said it was better than Five Guys. After our burgers, we shared some peanut butter pretzel chocolate creations that were superb. So don't be put off by the location or rusticity (is that a word?). Just go on in and enjoy the vibe.

Went here on a food tour - it's very casual and laid back. I liked the tofu dish that I had.

Hands down best pulled pork bbq in Athens. Great portabello mushroom sandwiches and other veggie options, especially whatever magic they do with seasonally changing grilled veggie options! I dream about their asparagus. And my kids swear on their burgers (small 'lady-q' size available for kids). Great brunch casual serve yourself buffet with fab bacon. Also, always nice local art hanging and best outdoor picnic area with neighborhood hellos all around. Very Athens. Some farm-to-table options always featured, but need more ethical meat options and a whole wheat bread option would be great.

I really love this place but I don't get to eat there as much as I'd like due to the fact that they don't take credit cards and I rarely carry cash. BBQ is excellent. Tilapia tacos are my specific craving right now. Chicken sandwich is melty-cheesy-goodness. I know they'll work with you on building your own order (specifically if you're Veg). The owners and servers are cheerful and attentive. BYOB makes it even more unique. The outdoor picnic tables are perfect on a gorgeous day in Georgia. Check it out.

I have been coming to this place for years and love everything I eat there. Currently, I am following a vegan diet and their Tiger salad (Tofu) is wonderful and very satisfying. Under normal circumstances, I love the hamburgers, bbq pork and chicken salad, but am just as happy to be eating their tofu salad. Ken, the owner, is very personable and friendly and adds greatly to the environment. I am excited to hear that they are having a Sunday brunch, that is all-you-can eat. I have been wanting them to be featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives on Foodnetwork.

At first, I'll admit I had my doubts a run down white house in the middle of a neighborhood would not have been my first choice eats but I was pleasantly surprised. On my first trip to White Tiger I sampled the BBQ sandwich which might I add was delicious. Not only is the pork smoked to perfection but the sauce provides just enough kick to satisfy even the pickiest eater (me). Hehe. I also enjoyed their mixed greens salad. The dressing was a little bit too vinegar based for me but the greens were fresh. My only complaint would be that they don't serve mac & cheese all the time. I'm dying to try it!! Anyway, next time you're in the boulevard area give it a try. You won't be disappointed.

ate there tonight for the first time, and both my wife and I got the BBQ plate, bacon and sweet tea. the bacon, pork and Mac-n-cheese were excellent, and the slaw was above average as well. when I picked food up, noticed they have an all-you-can eat brunch on Sundays ($12), which includes coffee and oj, and your kids get to eat for free. for those interested, establishment is BYOB, which is always a plus!

A great place off of the beat and path in Athens. I had the BBQ with pimento cheese and it was great and my children had the burgers. Everyone gave it a 10 and will definitely go back. The website says they do not take credit cards but now they do.

One of the BEST restaurants in Athens for sure. I've never had a bad meal here. I have tried the BBQ (good and smokey and a lot of it), the tofu sandwich (delicious), the salads (mixed greens, fresh veggies and fruit and the best vinaigrette), and my fave is the veggie ciabatta. I hear the burger is best in town and I promise to eat it as soon as I can resist ordering the veggie ciabatta. Oh, and the tomato soup is my favorite tomato soup ever. I recommend White Tiger to everyone.

Four friends and I travelled from Atlanta to Athens this past weekend for the Twilight Criterium. We stayed with some friends who recommended going to White Tiger for some good hearty food in a traveller's price range. We all ordered something different (chilli dogs, fish sandwiches, mac&cheese, and I think a cajun chicken sandwich) and were all thrilled at the amount of food and the tastiness. We even had someone with us with a wheat allergy and he was able to find something that was pleasing and delicious to him. Our friends must know their city: this recommendation was on point!

Wow! I live in the Boulevard neighborhood and have passed this place several times, but I never quite knew what to make of it. White Tiger has quirky hours, but I finally stopped in for dinner tonight. What a treat! After reading other Yelp reviews, I had the BBQ and it didn't disappoint. (Other offerings were meat and veggie lasagna.) The BBQ sandwich had a subtle smoky flavor and packed a punch with the tangy vinegar sauce. The hand-pulled pork was moist and contained a mix of tender interior portions and flavorful exterior portions. It is difficult to find vinegar-based BBQ in Georgia, so I was thrilled to find it right down the street. I coupled the pork sandwich with a cup of pea soup which was rich and creamy, yet still retained a nice texture of chopped peas. I carried out my order, but next time I am likely to eat in. White Tiger is a mix of a restaurant/gourmet chocolate shop/gallery. The place was populated with a jovial toddler and several local families eating dinner. In summary, I would describe White Tiger Gourmet as quirky perfection.

Every time someone comes to Athens this is always the place I bring them. It is truly Athenian and has the most amazing food, for both meat eaters and veggies like me. So if you haven't tried it, stop looking at any other restaurant, and go to White Tiger, you will have some of the best food anywhere has to offer.

Quite good! Kooky name, amazing food- BBQ unreal and a note to vegetarians, do not be afraid of the White Tiger! There were great veggie entrees! I dig the enthusiasm for new experimental menu items. The people are nice, the tables can be shared, and it was nice to wrap it up with an orange cream pop. A+++

Yummy goodness! First time I had the bbq special with 2 sides asparagus and macaroni and cheese. Well, the sandwich was enough for me. The ciabatta bread was very fresh and the meat was flavored perfectly so it did not have to be camouflaged by too much sauce. The sides well they were ok. Second time I went I had just the bacon cheeseburger. Man it was tasty! They are very friendly and you kinda feel like you are a character in their on going show. It is wonderful...

My by-far favorite restaurant in Athens for everyday meals. Everything is good. The BBQ is amazing, burgers are fantastic, and the specials they run are always really good. Had the best serving of shrimp and grits of my life here one night for dinner. Cute atmosphere. Nice owners/employees.

I enjoyed White Tiger's quaint atmosphere and great food. I went there with a friend, and though he didn't enjoy his burger, I couldn't stop raving about my salmon sandwich. It was served on ciabatta with cream cheese and capers. I realize it sounds disgusting. Believe me, I'm not really a fan of capers, but I LOVED the sandwich. This is a great place for lunch.

Stopped by White Tiger for a quick lunch today and ended up wholly satisfied, as usual. I had the homemade chicken salad on a croissant and drooled over every single bite. I highly recommend it! I topped the meal off with a cup of coffee and a piece of dark chocolate-cranberry bark. DELICIOUS, and the service was well above par as usual. So nice to be heartily and genuinely welcomed each and every time you walk in the White Tiger door!

Had the tomato soup, which was excellent, and the burger, which was so-so. Don't get the small burger (too much bun). Get the large one. The interior was a bit eclectic, but all in all a good meal. Wish they took credit cards.

What a unique place. Great collards and pulled smoked pork. The hot dog was cooked perfect on the griddle? Like walking back in time===quiet neighborhood. Wanted a unique place to eat for our short visit to UGA. Worth the drive and search.

Let me first say that I am moving to Athens just so I can be near White Tiger Gourmet! Their specials are out of this world. I had the beef bourguignon (spelling?) which was slowly cooked to tender perfection. The veggies are southern made and organic - the way nature intended! I had the butternut squash soup which was so tasty that I sort of wanted to beg for more but already felt like a pig. On my next visit I tried the BBQ- which stands to be the best in the world as far as I am concerned. My husband was there once upon a time before we meet and he swears he ate 2 BBQs in one sitting and then chased it down with their chicken salad sandwich. The chicken salad that my daughter will now be another one of my favorites. Don't forget to get some of the yummy homemade chocolates. This is a great casual place to enjoy that is away from the Athens sorority crowd and other teenie boppers. They also have art debuts and the owner makes some really cool pottery and sells it there (better than pottery barn). You could actually use it for your place settings at home. The bathroom requires you to walk outside and down a ramp. It maybe a little hike but heck- it's private and relatively clean. Also, if you have kids- this is the place. They can roam around, play the piano and there is no expectation of them being prim and proper. it is very laid back and neighborly like. If you are on facebook- add them as a friend- they post their specials up there I think most days. I highly recommend White Tiger. It is an oasis and an adventure!

To be honest when this place was first suggested I wasn't too excited about going, and then when I saw it I thought we were crashing a picnic at someone's house. Then I tried the food, and it was great! I had the BBQ sandwich and have been unable to try anything else everytime I go back because its so good. Nice staff as well - I definitely recommend!

Wow... this place is amazing. Tons of quirky Athens character and delicious food. I had the bbq sandwich (serious yum) and a green salad and some unsweet tea--extremely satisfying lunch. The bbq was slow-cooked until soft, with just a few crispy bits at the end, like you get when you make it yourself in an enameled cast iron pot (major points). The salad was simple but impeccably fresh. The portion sizes were just right, not too big, not too small. Just plain great homemade food and nice people... love it.

I'm with Janet! I got her excellent review in my email and headed down there for dinner. Surprise - not open for dinner! However, the place looked so welcoming and community-oriented that I came back the next day to sample the chocolate. Oh..my..goodness. 2 handmade truffles (hand rolled, even) filled with rich gooey goodness and several hunks of chocolate bark ended up in my bag. The bark was for a friend's birthday party, but it didn't last that long. Espresso bean and cashew barks were downright delightful. I can't wait to go back! I admit, I didn't even bother to get a sandwich, although they looked great and they had a lot of vegetarian options. I made my whole meal out of chocolate, and I'm proud to tell it to the world!

Awesome hippy vibe. Good food and you pay for the good ingredients. On a nice day, sitting under the trees, eating at one of their picnic tables -- you can't beat it for a great Athens experience.

Food is ok, service is absolutely horrible. I went tonight and was treated like dirt by the employees as well as the owner Ken. The things he said to my friends and myself are too inappropriate to share. He made physical threats and called us things I cannot repeat. I like to support local businesses as much as possible, however this is not a place I will ever return.

Pulled pork perfectly smoky, grilled cabbage buttery and crisp. Barbecue tacos yummy. Wait staff friendly and very reasonably priced. Happy top cheeseburger well done, the way I like it. We'll be back!

Not being in Athens often, I pounced at the chance to attend UGA graduation. This was on our way to Sanford Stadium, so we stopped here for a quick dinner, even though we were already running late. We were hesitant by the "Vegetarian" label on Yelp, since barbecue and vegetarian are contradictory words in my book, but we set that doubt aside and hoped for the best. We drove past it trying to find street parking and we were shocked to find it a run down shack in what looked to be one of the less safe parts of Athens. Once again, we tried to shake off the weird feeling that this was not a good idea. We were the second group of people in the restaurant, as they just opened at 6, and we arrived right at 6. We ordered at the front (non vegetarian meals, phew) and seated ourselves at one of the odd tables in the corner. There doesn't seem to be plentiful seating inside, although picnic benches are available outside, too. After an hour and a half drive up to Athens, plus my hour to get to Duluth to meet a friend to carpool on a Friday afternoon, I had to visit the facilities. To get to the bathroom, you have to walk around the entire outside of the building to the back, which involves stepping down into some rough terrain, so I hope you weren't wearing heels like I was. The bathroom is definitely one of the dirtier bathrooms I've been in, but at least I had low expectations after the hike it took to get there. The lady manning the register brought us our orders: my friend ordered a pimento bbq sandwich, while I ordered the pulled pork sandwich. Our food took a while, but we finally got it, and realized they were essentially the same thing, except my friend's had some extra cheese on top of the meat. The pulled pork was tender and flavorful, nothing to complain about. The side of a cup of tomato basil soup wasn't bad either, although it seemed to be missing a key ingredient, which I couldn't pinpoint. It's also super classy to literally bring me a cup of soup in a styrofoam cup. The Mac and cheese also seemed to be missing some key ingredient, but it still satisfied my fatty carb craving. A note we both realized was they use a lot of pepper in everything they brought to us. White Tiger's layout was very odd to me, with half the restaurant crowded by food storage and an unused glass display case, which could have been better utilized for seating. There was, of course, a stuffed white tiger in the corner of the restaurant. Overall, the food was pretty good and cheap. While the experience left something to be desired, I can definitely say I've had much worse barbecue in my life.

I think this place gets such good reviews in part because of its vibe--it's very folksy in an Athenian way (folksy but deceptively sophisticated). When I went, I liked the pork sandwich I got, but my dining partner was a little less impressed with her burger. They smoke their pork right there, which is neat. Prices are ok.

The food is really good & it has a lot of flavor. The restaurant is a whole in the wall, & the food prices are pretty pricey. One thing they should change is that they should add fries! Other than that, the food tastes excellent, & their burgers are really big in size. I tired the Mac N Cheese & let me tell you, it was amazing, although it was kinda pricey.

Ah, White Tiger. I still remember my first time coming here. So good. So wonderful. I will never forget. A group of friends and I came for brunch, and even though I can't remember what each of us got, there were a lot of potatoes, and a lot of people had meat. And it was just so. good. If you can eat their potatoes, do it. Their mac and cheese is on point, too. My boyfriend got something that had a pancake, and wow. I seriously recommend that. Anyways, this first experience left an awesome taste in my mouth (hahaha get it alright I'll shut up). I came here a second time during dinner with my boyfriend, and he was pleased with his order (a patty melt, recommended by the waitress). Unfortunately for me, the portabella cheeseburger was soaked in vinegar on one side of the bun, which was pretty overwhelming. I'll be ordering something else next time, but there will definitely be a next time. I refuse to give up hope on this place (I mean... why would I?). Good thing the banana pudding is amazing! It doesn't have that weird, manufactured banana-pudding taste. This is exactly how I like my banana pudding. The wafers are soft on the outside and still a lil wafer-ish on the inside.

Old white paint, smoke and vinegar, meat and soy. What do we have here? Though very much still not the biggest fan of tofu and White Tiger isn't letting myself stray from their Tofu-Q. I can't help but love everything about it despite the tofu. Okay, okay. Tofu isn't all that's on the menu. There are salads, some amazing looking pork sandwiches and burgers... chocolate. The dessert part baffles me as it's not ever present. The few times I've been the case wasn't even lit up or advertised. Their entrees don't readily come with sides unlike their other BBQ joint brethren. I've yet to add one myself since the sandwich has been fulfilling for me at least. The indoor area feels a tad crowded, but what can you expect in a small space? They accommodate it as best they can by providing some smokey backyard atmosphere for these summer days. :) All in all, I need to step off that tofu and take a look at the rest of their fine menu. Though damn is it good....

I had the BBQ pork sandwich, and it was really good, but the tomato soup was the real star. That stuff is no joke. Very fresh and a little spicy. I'm excited to try the burgers and tofu in the future!

Incredible bbq! So much food and meat! Their Mac n cheese is wonderful. The coleslaw that comes with it is definitely on the sour side but is refreshing from the Amount of meat you get. It sucks that this place only opens for lunch. It gets pretty busy on weekends. They ran out of bbq and the wait was pretty long. But it was definitely worth it!

Dudes, White Tiger Gourmet is where it's at. Not only is the food delicious for a reasonable price, but the staff is so friendly. When you go to White Tiger you feel like you're going to a friend's house for lunch... a friend who you should keep for their talents in cooking. The cozy atmosphere and the sense of community will keep me coming back.

I've eaten the Alice Burger and BBQ Sandwich. I've also had the mixed green salad and grilled collard greens (I think that's correct). Neither of my orders disappointed me, and it's obvious that this place loves using vinegar. I believe it can be a bit pricey, but it's not a complaint if I keep going to get my fix. I know I'll continue going, and will be trying more of what's on the menu. The building's worn down exterior and creepily decorated interior could be offsetting. Don't let it distract your taste buds or tummy. This place is pretty damn good. Be sure you know the hours beforehand; you might wind up being disappointed.

If you want to feel like a towny, this is the place for you. It is located off the beating path of all the other restaurants in town. They have a wide burger selection. On some nights they have a band or musician playing during dinner. They also have a night where they give you free PBR with your order (I believe it was Thursday night). If your an Athens foody and towny this is the place for you.

White Tiger is one of my favorite restaurants in Athens. It's in a little old house, formerly a general store, on a corner deep in the Boulevard neighborhood, and has a nice yard with picnic benches where you can eat when weather permits. Food and atmosphere are great and very Athens -- a hipster BBQ joint fused with a deli and a hint of daycare (inside). They used to make and sell a variety of chocolate treats inside, too, but... life goes on. The Sunday brunch buffet is variable -- they've had trouble keeping enough bacon on the table. Highlights: pulled pork sandwich/tacos, chicken sandwich, grilled veg, salmon, the lemon vinaigrette on the side salad.

Went here yesterday with co-workers, I had the salmon ciabatta, and both my co-workers had the pull pork sandwhich. I love salmon and is one of my go to items when I see it on a menu so I was pleasantly surprised to see it on the menu here. Oh my it was sooo deliciouso and my co-workers raved about how great their sandwhich was as well. We also shared a side of the okra which was very good too. I definitely plan to visit again and again, and again, lol.

  • Ray R.

This place has so so much much potential but it just falls short. Pros: Their pimento bbq sandwich is amazing. It's worth the trip for the sandwich alone. Cons: Everything else about this place doesn't live up to the hype. Their slaw is fresh but has way to much vinegar in it. The Mac and cheese only has a thin layer of cheese over the top of plain elbows. There is a fine line between having an "artsy" atmosphere and eating food in an old grocery store that should be condemned. A fresh coat of paint would do wonders for this place.

  • Adam C.

I think l love the location and atmosphere more than I do the food. The food isn't bad at all, mac and cheese was "easy" and properly made. Sandwiches were good as well. The food is just good, nothing outstanding. I do love the Portuguese hot sauce though, better than siracha IMO. The location is like what you want your neighborhood to have. Classic lunch bench seating with the fun lights overhead and then complimented by the big oak trees sheltering you from the Georgia heat. The building is an old grocery store now decorated with eclectic southern art and style thrift store furniture. The place is just fun and harps on all the Athens motifs.

I had been told so many times by so many people to try it. The location is truly off the beaten path in the Boulevard residential section of Athens. If you weren't looking for it you probably wouldn't find it. I had the pimento bbq sandwich and it was great. My son had a goat cheese burger that was great as well. Great weather and good food. I will keep this one on my radar.

Super rad go to spot in Athens.... not a BBQ joint but one of the best pulled pork sandwiches I have ever had.. not a burger joint but possibly the best burger in town! Brunch is pretty awesome too! .. love the reviews about it being in sketchy neighborhood (this is one of Athens best hoods) or by god having to walk around the back for a bathroom... some folks should just never venture away from chain restaurants!!

  • James M.

Great location and appeal. Staff was nice. I had a BBQ pork sandwich, which was good but not better than others. With my sandwich, I had a side of mac & cheese. Overall, the side was tasty but there were uncooked elbow pasta. So I chewed cautiously. Another ding on their score was not having lids for tea to go. Why serve sweet tea in a styrofoam cup and a straw and not have any lids? I asked and she said they never offered lids. Odd.

I adore this little hidden treasure! Who knew that you could find such great food nestled away in a quiet neighborhood? Despite being away from the main streets, I could see that this restaurant is popular among locals. While I was standing in line, I noticed that the cashier knew many of the customers. Regulars greeted each other across the small space of the restaurant and family members chatted happily while they ate their brunch. The interior decorations and atmosphere reminded me very much of The Grit. It's an awesome place to eat, relax, and hang out! I didn't get the bunch today. It looked extremely delicious though! I'll have to come back another Sunday. Instead, I got the bacon cheddar burger; it was very juicy and I loved the bread that they used! I think 1/2 lb of beef is too much for me though. I split the burger with my friend. I'm definitely coming back here again!

I've lived in Athens for five years now and have been to every BBQ joint in town, and when someone described this place as "hipster BBQ" I was skeptical. Best place in Athens. Hands down. Pork is amazing, Mac-and-cheese is amazing, and the environment here is very casual and laid back. It's somewhat off the beaten path, but worth the Normaltown journey.

There is something for everyone here, whether meat-lover, veggie-lover, or somewhere in-between. The grilled veggies are such a good side item with smoky pulled pork. Big plus, it's a BYOB with no fee! The outdoor dining area is lovely too.

We finally had a chance to visit White Tiger. We had read so many things on Yelp. I had the BBQ plate with Mac and cheese and coleslaw, my wife had the chicken leg plate with the same sides. The location is a charming old mill village grocery store. The two guys helping us were extremely nice and helpful. There specialty is burgers and barbecue I was told. We place our order at the counter. There wasn't really anyone else there. I heard the flattop grill going and thought that was curious. When our food arrived I knew why. The BBQ tasted like it had been warmed on a flattop the taste was very plain. The Mac and cheese was rubbery with a taste of the swanson's but a little more rubbery. The coleslaw was huge chunks of cabbage in a vinegar based dressing. While the food was passable I wouldn't use the term gourmet. The prices were around $10.00., but the taste was less than thrilling. The white tiger sauce is based on the North Alabama white sauce. It was very watery and lacking the taste of the Alabama white sauce. If you google Big Bob Gibson's white sauce you will find several recipes better than this. I can't speak to the burgers, but based on the BBQ I would recommend trying them over the que.

My friend and I found this place on Yelp and it had decent reviews, so we decided to give it a try. When we got there I was disappointed to see they only had pork BBQ, as I don't eat pork. I was legit upset and decided to go with a chicken sandy called the Jason Sandwich. Boy, am I happy I did. One of the BEST sandwiches I had in awhile!! My friend had the pork BBQ and said it was one of the best she's ever had. We shared grilled veggies (a bit too salty) too. The place is all cash and the service is slow, but I found it worth it for the quality of food. Highly recommended.

This is really a "hidden gem" in Athens. I've been coming for business like in the last 10 years and I can not believe that I've never came here to eat. Well... today my friend Kaitlin took me there for lunch. When we arrived in the car, I told her: What the hell is that??!!!!... from outside, it looks like an old wood home from a horror film. Inside, the impression doesn't change much... ha ha ha :) ,but a smiley face receives you and tells you about the specials. The counter girl was very friendly and nice. I ordered the "Barbarella" (Smoked Pork sandwich with red and white BBQ sauce) and two sides: grill broccoli and grill asparagus... they were all soooooo good!. The BBQ sauce doesn't overpower the smokey pork flavor, it's just the right amount and the pork is just soft with parts of crispyness. Awesome!!!. I would suggest anybody to go to this place... I am a fan now. I think I'll go everytime I come to Athens. Forget about the location, the atmosphere and the sitting... just focus on the food and you will enjoy it.

I am spending a day in Athens and had no time to do any research before I left the Bay Area in Cal regarding the place and things to do. I have been to ATL before and enjoyed the area but nowhere else in GA. Had some pre-conceived notions about this area. Thoughts of Deliverance which was set in Georgia came to mind... totally kidding people ;-) Found this place in Yelp and decided to give it a try. I was more than anxious especially on the drive there I was not sure if the area was quaint or run down. Anxiety went up higher when I pulled up in front of this place and the building looked like it was going to fall apart. I knew I was in for a unique experience, thought not sure if positive or negative... Well, it ended up being really positive. This place ended up reminding me of a place I could find in SF. Very laid back and friendly. The burger was incredibly juicy and hit the spot. The chocolate options were good too. The girl at the counter was great and gave me a bunch of bar recommendations. I also liked that they had picnic like seating outside. At the end of a meal here, decided that this area was indeed quaint.

Visiting Athens for two weeks and trying to hit a number of BBQ places to try as much pulled pork as I can while I am here. Found out about White Tiger from a local bar tender. I think this was the best tip I received all week. Pulled pork was amazing, best hands down in Athens. Not only is the meat amazing, but it is served with the best bread in town. The special white tiger sauce is great too. I will be visiting one more time before I go.

Not a lot of restaurants in Athens do a medium burger well but my Alice Burger came out a juicy medium. The grilled portabella that comes on the Alice adds another meaty texture, the field greens add a peppery kick and the creamy, zesty White Tiger Sauce seals the deal. Just remember to bring cash because they don't take credit cards. It's no Holeman & Finch burger but hey - it's still pretty damn tasty.

If you are Southern and you like BBQ, where else can you get "grilled" collards and smoked pork! This is without question, the best pork inAthens. No frills, no gimmicks, pure quality, and the best. Do yourself a favor and check it out, you want be disappointed, I wasn't!
