I have been to Transmet a few times in the last few years. My first was on a visit to Athens--it was delicious. Now that I'm a resident here, I've been highly disappointed. My colleagues and I have gone for lunch a few times over the last few months, and each time it seems to have gotten worse. 5-10 minutes before we ever see a waitress, another 5 before we can order, 30 minutes of waiting, and then over cooked pizza to boot. Our last visit was during the World Cup, so I tried to be a little more lenient--I know they were busy. But today, was such a huge disappointment. Much smaller pieces than what I'm used to (I was still hungry which never happened before), over cooked, and our waitress couldn't get our drink or simple 1 ingredient pizza slices right to save her life. I live near the Oglethorpe location, and will stick with that one from now on!I want to like you downtown Transmet, but you're making it hard...

My favorite place to eat in Athens. The four cheese lasagna is so delicious! Probably the best lasagna I've had. Pizza is great too, of course. Love the atmosphere of the place. It's decorated well and they play great music. Very Radiohead-like. Definitely worth a try!

Hopefully I can write a review about the food, but the non-existent service may just stop me from getting there. We have been waiting for 10 mins by the hostess desk and no one seems to care to check us in. This place must not care much for business.

This pizza is delicious, and more importantly, their taste in music is excellent. Lots of classic punk songs.

Worst place to watch a game. No A/C and bad service, wish I would have went to Dirty Birds!

Went here with family last week. With all of the food options in Athens it was a tough choice. The atmosphere is pretty cool and service was decent. The side Caesar salad was excellent. The traditional margherita pizza was just OK. Should have gotten a meat on it instead. The crust is good but I prefer a super thin crust for this style.

To quote the great David Byrne: "Stillllll waiting". Two slices of pizza, an hour for each. I hope it's good, please make it as heartfelt as the Charles Bradley show I missed waiting on these handcrafted slices of zza. Don't go here unless you have 1/6 to 1/4 of a 24 hour day to enjoy a Italian style meal. Great ambience if you like watching Blue's Clues and Dora the Explorer. 2nd star is because the pizza was very good.

I absolutely live this place. I'm in Athens about once or twice a week and make an effort to eat here at least two out of three visits. This place has great service and amazing food. I highly recommend.

Very slow service! We came in with a party of 6 and were there for about 2 hours. As far as the food, it was okay. I am Italian so I can be a little on the picky side but the dishes just seemed to be lazy excuses for pizza. The "Sicilian pizza" was essentially only focaccia bread with the toppings and cheese melted on top. I ordered bruschetta and it was just pieces of soft bread with a tomato mixture on top, not bad but definitely not like bruschetta I'm accustom to.

Service was horrible!!! We waited an hour an a half for our pizza slices. Yes slices not whole pizzas. The manager blamed it on them getting slammed when we came in but we had reservations so there was no excuse. Avoid!!

The SLOWEST service. Pricey food for the quality. I really don't recommend this location of Transmetropolitan.

    (2)
  • Tommy D.

The pizza was pretty good, but the service was abysmal. We sat for 30 minutes before the waitress took our drink order.

Great place for a college town! I use to go there from time to time when I was a student at UGA, and even now still a great place. They have great pizza (esp the Thai pizza). The service was a little slow, but not its worth it.

My family and I dined here before my little sister's graduation about a month ago. It was super busy but we managed to get a table outside. We started with the roasted garlic appetizer which was absolutely delicious. You can never go wrong with anything garlic though! We also ordered a hawaiian pizza to share. I'm not a huge fan of pizza so I had the prosciutto panini with a side salad. The hawaiian pizza was ok. I've never been a fan of pineapples on my pizza though. My prosciutto panini was also just ok. It was a little too salty for my liking. The only thing that I really liked here was the roasted garlic app.

Never left a review for anything in my life; however, the spinach and "artichoke" dip at transmet is far and away the worst dip I've ever ordered in my life. It's just blended up spinach and oil. I like everything else I've gotten from here, so I'm not sure how this abomination made it on the menu. Go dawgs

Transmetropolitan has been an Athens staple for me since my undergrad years, and it still remains as the go-to when no one can decide what to eat when we're in town. They have a walk up to order atmosphere, which suits the clientele, but not the restaurant. Even though I know I need to order at the counter, my first instinct is always to sit down first. The pizza is solid here, and my favorite place to sit is upstairs where the full bar is. Not that I'm an alcoholic, but the window seats are better to enjoy from height than the booths downstairs with zero views (unless you consider the co-eds that frequent the place... Go Dawgs).

I came here around 3 PM on a Sunday with a friend of mine. We ordered what I think was called the "Coastal specialty" pie. This pizza is only offered on the weekends and features "fresh" local shrimp, onions, and various herbs. I wasn't impressed with the pizza since the main feature was the shrimp and there was like one per a slice. And on top of that the pizza was pretty dull on the taste.. We shared the pizza and it stuffed the both of us. The large pie was $20 which I thought it was disappointing given the 8/9 pieces of shrimp.

If you like good food and even better service...don't go here. We ordered 2 apps, 2 slices, and pasta. 1 app never came. The other came with the meal, only when we asked about it. The food was cold. We never were given refills on water, wine, or beer. We had to hunt down the waitress just to get the bill. The only thing interesting about this place is that they are still in business.

My boyfriend and I used to come here all the time but we haven't been in a while. Tonight was the first time we went back in about two or so years and we were both very disappointed. Before, it was an order at the counter type deal with beers on deck. Now it's a "wait to be seated" with sorry were all out of everything -_- so yeah, we were kinda disappointed about that. The real kicker wasn't the change in mood, decor, seating, or ordering though. It was the fact that we waited for about an hour and a half for our food to arrive. The service was also very, very slow. We didn't mind waiting to be seated, because that's understandable, but waiting for 30 minutes to be waited on?? Really?? And then waiting for an hour for our food to be cooked and burned?!? Awesome. Maybe it was an off night? But from some of the other review I doubt it. Well might try this place again because it was so dear to us before... But if the next time happens the same way, I would never recommend this place again.

Very good. I ate there for lunch and ordered a pepperoni calzone and the thing was huge!! They give you a big bowl of marinara to dip the calzone in.

It was nice to revisit this little gem on a quick road trip. Surprised at the new interior. While it looks very nice and is well done, I can't help but miss the less sophisticated vibe that it used to have. Pizza is great. Beer selection is good. Service is good.

I went back the other day with just only two people. My theory was correct, both of our foods came out at the same time and both were really good. My pizza was nice and hot. Thus, when going there with a big party, be sure to ask them to bring the pizza out as they are done. Their default service operation must be to bring pizzas out for the whole table together.

HUGE slices. Good selection. Decent taste. Love that you can just get slices. Affordable prices. Will be back.

Not the best pizza in the world, but def not the worst. Like, I wouldn't choose to eat here, but I wouldn't be sad panda if someone else wanted to eat here. I do like how the upstairs bar area and extra little event room are seperate from the bottom or "main" area. Drinks and service is pretty great!

    (3)
  • Odd S.

So sad. This restaurant used to be an Athens staple. Now I am consistently disappointed with the slow service, low quality of the food and general ambivalence of the staff. They recently switched from counter service to table service which has only resulted in longer wait time and overall less enjoyable experience. Their beer taps are always out of almost everything you want and they are often out of key ingredients.

  • Rani C.

I like this place. My little bros ate most of my salad...so they're pretty good b/c I swear I only had five bites of that huge thing. The pizza was awesome. We kept it simple with plain ol' pepperoni. There was nothing left ten minutes after the waitress put it down on our table. You should try it out. Oh and go upstairs, it's calmer.

  • Anon A.

We visited on a Saturday at 8PM during a slow weekend. 1) They were out of most food and drink options. 2) Pizza slices took 75 minutes to arrive and the crust was burned on all of them. 3) The server was inattentive and needed several reminders to bring important items. 4) ** The restaurant was exceptionally hot (almost like a sauna) despite the weather being very pleasant outside.

    (1)
  • Simone B.

Would get four stars if not for staff. I love the Johnny Hectors BBQ, and this is my favorite pizza place, but lately the service has been awful: slow, apathetic... My husband and I stopped in before a movie with a reasonable time to spare. We ended up waiting until the absolute last minute after even telling the staff several times we had to leave- our pizza came out at the last second and we actually ended up eating it walking up the sidewalk to catch our movie! Disappointing, but we will go back because the pizza is good stuff.

  • Janice S.

The service has really gone downhill. Once counter service now wait staff was a poor move. This is a classic case of if it ain't broke, don't fix it. The service when you ordered at the counter was much more efficient. Now, you have to wait for sometime before you get your food. Agree with Odd S. that the wait staff is generally ambivalent and could care less. And, that the bartender is also the only wait staff upstairs. On a super busy Friday evening, the bartender was so busy taking food orders that he couldn't pour drinks. Several folks who showed up after we had gave up and left. It is a beautiful bar and the bartender could easily just have that one job and keep busy. We love this place, but have been disappointed the past couple of visits. Would recommend either of their competitors Amici's or Little Italy for pizza.

  • Sam W.

I enjoy going to this restaurant I usually eat the chicken salad with mozzarella cheese and side of Italian and a side of roasted red potatoes. This location has a cute lil bar on top that opens at night. The pizza is good and sold by the slice. The problem is that during lunch and dinner time this location is packed and the seating and wait time for food is long.

  • Annie L.

I've been here twice already, and both times have been pleasant :) I'm not sure if they still do it but the last time I came on a Wednesday, there were 1/2 bottle priced wines---SOLD!!! Count me in for being there every Wednesday, probably situated at the bar. The food I got wasn't mind blowing or anything but it was still good. I ordered the chicken sandwich and it came with a potato salad side. My boyfriend ordered a pizza with 3 toppings or something----now the pizza....THAT'S something to brag about. It was delicious! The crust was thick and the toppings were layered on generously. With a small bite the pizza totally kicked my sandwich's butt.

Great experience! Great service and wonderful food. Stop looking and go here. The large pizza is plenty big for a family. We paid 30 dollars for five people, awesome. In Athens eat here!

  • Jason D.

I really don't understand why this place is rated at high. Subpar food and okay service doesn't constitute a 4+ star rating to me. I have been to Transmet about half a dozen times in my 15 years in Athens. Every single one of those times I have had bland Italian food whether it was pizza or something else. When friends suggest Transmet, I always do my darndest to avoid this place at all costs. Why go there when you have way better options like Amici's and Little Italy. I hate to say it but this is one of my least favorite places to eat in Athens. But again, one man's trash is another man's treasure.

What happened after the remodel? The food is horrible now. I have been twice since the remodel and they were out of feta cheese for the spinach salad once and now they're burning the pizza, the pasta primavera has two ingredients, and who knows how bad everything else is now. I can NOT recommend this place anymore. Yuck!

  • Marcus O.

bar upstairs. restaurant downstairs. two things wrong with this place: 1) you have to go downstairs to order food. they bring it to the bar upstairs when it's ready. what?! okay. 2) the bartender doesn't know what a $#%$ gimlet is.

  • Ona T.

Went there while on Vacation...it was awesome...I had the chicken Alfredo...the sauce was nice and creamy...My friend had the lasagna special and that was amazing. I will go back.

  • Tonia D.

When I first reviewed Transmet years ago, I was sorely disappointed and spent the next four years avoiding it unless I just really wanted lasagna. Then, I was dragged in about a month before moving away from Athens. As we all stepped in, every single one of use was taken aback at the remodel and updates inside. To say that these were significant improvements is an understatement. The staff seemed friendlier, the food tasted better, and the layout is really nice. My only misgiving is that I now live 1500 miles away and will forever crave a Hungry Sasquatch.

  • Jacob S.

Note: this location now has full waitress service instead of taking orders at the counter, so be prepared to tip accordingly. I haven't been here in a few years and I can't say that I'm exactly a fan of the new layout, but I can see how some would enjoy it more. I ordered two slices. The cheese slice was just as good as I remembered, but the vegetarian pesto slice was a disappointment. Due to being made by the slice, the toppings are still cold when it is served, since the slice is only thrown in the oven for a short period of time to make the cheese melt. I'll return, but won't be ordering more than one topping per slice if going the by-the-slice route again.

Hands Down the Best Pizza in Athens! You know its good pizza when you want to eat the crust first. Any body can put toppings on crust, but its the crust that makes the pizza so great.

I absolutely love Transmet and every time I go to Athens I try to dine there or at least have a few beers. This place has a great atmosphere both downstairs and up. The downstairs area is mainly composed of booths and table restaurant style, while the upstairs is a bar with a great beer selection and sitting areas throughout to watch any game. Transmet prices are extremely reasonable and their servings are quite generous (think leftovers!!) . My party ordered a medium pepperoni pizza which was enough to feed 3 people with their large slices. Their service was excellent as well. We ordered our pizza at the counter and it was brought up to us quite promptly. The server was very helpful and always there if you needed anything. I also went to Transmet to watch the GA game this past week, and let me tell you... this place would have to be one of the best bars to watch the game as long as you arrive early. We found a great place upstairs near the back with a TV a couch, table and chairs which looked just like a living room and just chilled out there while having a few beers. During this instance I ordered the Turkey artichoke paninni sandwich which was delicious, all the flavors melded together in such harmony... YUMMY!! One thing that I do remember that I was not too thrilled about were the new potatoes because they put way too much pepper to the point that they are so spicy, that I can't eat them. Overall, this place is great to watch any games, have a great slice of pizza (or sandwich!!) and a beer. I give this place two thumbs way up!!!!

Transmet has a special place in my heart! In college this is the place we would always go for a fun/cheap dinner or happy hour after class!! A big group of us came here on Friday night- we had just gotten into town and were starving...luckily Transmet was still open- it was already 10:30! I ordered a beer and slice of the hawaiian pizza, the total was $7- AWESOME! The service here is like Felini's where you go up to the counter to order and they bring your food to the table. Dinner was great and inexpensive- the perfect start to a fun weekend!

Good spot for a pizza. Convenient location and good service. Upstairs is normally pretty calm if the downstairs is packed out.

We decided to check out this place because we had walked by the day before and the pizza looked really delicious (big, thick, sicilian-style pizza). For an appetizer we ordered the portobello mushrooms with sun-dried tomato. When it came out it was rather disappointing. It was basically one mushroom cap (cut into 4 tiny pieces) stuffed with sun-dried tomato mush, sitting on a bed of greens with balsamic vinegar. Definitely not worth the 5 bucks. My boyfriend and I each ordered a slice of pizza since we could not finish a whole pie. I got the hawaiian with bbq chicken and my boyfriend had the white pizza, both sicilian-style. Very bland pizza, definitely nothing to rave about. Maybe ordering a whole pizza tastes better than getting a slice? Disappointing because I really wanted to like this place.

  • Holly B.

Transmet is the best pizza place in Athens! The food is delicious and reasonably priced and service is great. The back room upstairs is the perfect place to hold dinner events because it has a lot of space and waiters are constantly coming to check on your party. I love this restaurant!

  • Zlatko U.

I went here with a couple of friends a few weeks back. The food was well priced and came out really fast. The beer selection is decent if you know what's good to drink. As for the staff, they were really friendly. I would definitely come back as the food was mad delicious. Oh, they cater to vegans too, so that's awesome.

It's pizza done "meh." Nothing bad. Nothing spectacular. I don't find the dough to be incredible, but it's good. The toppings are good quality. The cheese is nicely dispersed. I don't think you'll be disappointed eating here, but it just lacks a wow factor for me. This could be any decent pizza joint anywhere in the country.

I wish I could give them zero stars. We were there tonight and arrived at 7pm. We got our salad at 8pm and after waiting 2 hours still had no pizza at 9pm. Not once did the waitress check on us. We had to look for her repeatedly and get our own water at the bar. We had to go downstairs and find the manager to find out that after 2 hours our pizza wasn't even in the oven yet because "our ticket had disappeared." So we finally got our pizza at 9:20pm along with 3 plates... Even though we had a table of 7 people!!! We had to go find more plates in the closet. What a shame because the pizza was good, maybe only because we were SO HUNGRY after waiting 2.5 hours. Even worse is we had guests from South America visiting and we were so embarrassed that this is where we took them. First & LAST time at this restaurant for sure! Also, our only plan was the night was to take our guests from Latin America to see a basketball game at UGA and because of the slow service, we didn't make it til halftime in spite of arriving at the restaurant 2 hours before the game started.

What Transmet lacks in food it makes up for it with its atmosphere. You can either get traditional or Sicilian style pizzas but neither of them are that spectacular. The traditional pizza lacks that nice, crispy bottom and it's too doughy - very one note. The Sicilian dough while thick and hearty is quite tough and I found it difficult to eat without drinking water in between bites. I ordered the Sasquatch, white, chicken pesto pizzas and none of them were extraordinary in flavor. I really liked the atmosphere however - it's dark, cozy and just an overall great place to come with friends for a drink. For the price of their pizzas (about $3 - 4 per slice), the portions are huge and 2/3 slices could easily give you 2 meals. It's a lot of food at a cheap price.

The last time I visited Trasmet was a good two years back, so I was quite surprised with the new renovation the restaurant did to their downstairs. The upstairs area looked exactly the same as it did, with a few exceptions. I really should have gotten a pizza, but I had pizza the day before, so instead I decided to order a classic chicken alfredo and the spinach and pesto panini. I go upstairs to wait on the food and watch a little bit of what's on their giant LCD TV's. One of the first things I noticed when I sat down was the bartender. Although she was cute, I realized she was isolating herself from the patrons. She was constantly browsing through her smartphone, and only really took her eyes off it if a customer wanted a beer, etc. The worst part was when another waiter came to talk to her, and the bartender didn't even leave her phone alone nor even look at the waiter when she was talking. Not a good start. The food arrived in good time, but soon after the food was on my table, the tv started to air a documentary on garbage trucks and their disposal methods. . . What? So weird. Anyways, on to the food. I can't say the chicken alfredo I had here was anywhere near the best I've had.. The whole dish seemed rather dry. The panini fared a little better, but the waitress accidentally spilled the vinegritte sauce on half of my sandwich, resulting in a very strong vinegar taste. By the way, my coke was dangerously low, like an inch left in my cup, and the waiter never said anything about it before leaving. And come on, it's summer time. There must've been like five tables occupied at max when I was there. Definitely not a strong finish. I'll come back to try their pizza, but I hope their waiters and bartender(s) are more attentive to the patrons. The food - 2.5 / 5 The staff - 1 / 5 The new look - 3 / 5

A medium white pizza is exactly enough for two people (plus is super-delicious!). Coming in and ordering is a bit odd. You stand in line order what you want (food + drinks) and then you seat yourself. So, you might end up carrying a beer, water and a table marker back to your table. It's odd because they have maybe 6 beers on tap, but there's a full bar upstairs. You have to pay down front before you eat, but there might be other things you want later. Overall, the food is good, but it's a little confusing to order.

One of the best places to for pizza and salad. Always busy and fun here. Warning the portion sizes are large! Great food and clean establishment.

  • Bailey D.

The wait is the only thing I can really complain about...and that their sicilian pizza is WAY too thick. BUT, that atmosphere is great, can accommodate large and smaller groups. Good place to go with friends and chat and drink beer or do on a date. For lunch and dinner it is great, although it is always overly crowded at dinner. The chicken cesear salad is very different than any other i've had so i get it most times. Otherwise, if you love white pizza, i would highly recommend it. it is so GREAT. Atmosphere, very cool and artsy with brick interior and an upstairs bar. has varying local art pieces for sale.

I like pizza and beer, so naturally I like Transmet. It is a regular stop on our weekend (or weeknight) outings, especially if we are with a group of people and need to eat. The upstairs is a sports bar, with big TVs and an array of beer (which you can get a lot of by the pitcher). I like that they serve Sweetwater 420 by the pitcher here. The pizza is really good and there are a million kinds of toppings available. It can get quite crowded on the weekends and you may have to wait in line for awhile. But, because this place caters to about every type of person in Athens, it is a very interesting place to "people watch".

    (4)
  • Jonathon V.

I've been here twice with large groups when it wasn't very busy, and each time they took more than 30 minutes to get us our food. The pizza here is rather simple, but the sandwiches are very good. I guess I'll just have to come with fewer people next time.

  • Candice M.

This is the spot! The staff is so friendly and down to earth. The food is excellent. The pizza, well, I think it's illegal. We always stop here after the games and grab a drink and some food. The lines do get long, as mentioned in other reviews, but long lines are a sign of good food, good fun and good people so chill out and enjoy your time here. Order your food downstairs and walk your butt upstairs and camp by the bar. The drink specials are great, just like any college town. Eat and drink until your heart is content for around $20 for a party of two. My husband and I just had a full meal and two rounds with tip for $20. Where in Atlanta can you do that?

  • Bonnie B.

I've been going to Transmet for years, and I love it because it's the kind of place you can go by yourself with a book for lunch without worrying that people will think you're weird. The line to order can get kind of long at peak times, so I like to go during off-hours when possible. I always get the caesar salad with chicken because it's amazing, but the pizza is pretty good too. I would ding them half a star if I could because the last time I was there, my chicken was a little undercooked (ew!), but overall I've always had positive experiences at Transmet, and I'll almost certainly be back the next time I'm in town.

  • Amanda H.

Why five stars? The potato soup alone!!! It is divine. The potato soup is sooo good that if you didn't eat anything thing else you would love this place too. I do not particularly care for the Sicilian style pizza because the bread is damn near impossible to eat! I would also check the sandwich breads too because I got a chicken sandwich that had bread I didn't care for. The normal pizza was delicious and there are tons of toppings you can add to it. I also love that you can build your own salad too. I really liked putting the BBQ chicken on my salad. It does seem to take more time than usual to get an order out so be expected to wait even longer if there are a lot of people. Potato soup: Just order, trust Pizza: Good Salads: Good Wait Time: Can vary

Their vegeterian pesto pizza is my absolute favorite pie. Definitely order a whole pizza, as it is way better than reheated slices. I also love their build-your-own salad option, which is often lacking or pay-by-the-topping at most places. They also have a great rotating beer menu, and you will definitely need a beer (or an appetizer), because food is slow to arrive. I've tried several of their sandwiches, and I always regret it. Stick to pizza and salad, and be patient.

My fiance and I have been enjoyed eating at Transmet for the many years we've lived in Athens, but the past year has been sub par. My fiance usually gets the Tofu Panini which according to the menu claims to have kalamata pesto (and in the past always did -- its the major selling point of this sandwich). Five out of the past 5 times we've eaten there, the sandwich has been dry -- no pesto, no sauce of any kind. When we ask for the kalamata pesto, twice they've been out and didn't tell us until the food was brought out incomplete, and the other times they brought it out later on the side. I don't understand why they're being so stingy with this pesto. It's almost insulting that they just seem to think we won't notice. As for my meal, I usually do the build-your-own salad. On the menu it says this comes with a side of foccacia (and it used to) but the only time I have gotten the foccacia with my salad this year was when I asked for it specifically when I ordered (to which the waitress replied "of course, it always comes with that"). Also, my salad is typically missing one of the ingredients I order (twice its been the kalamata olives -- go figure). I just don't know why things have changed so drastically there. And there's no excuse for not being up front with your customers. Transmet has lost two long-time (and generous tipping (30% +)) customers.

I went here with a group on Friday night, and for seven bucks, I had a slice of traditional hawaiian pizza and a glass of merlot. Not bad! We ordered at the counter, took a seat, and our pizza was ready in no time. Some of the girls ordered sicilian slices, and the crust was so thick that it looked like focaccia bread. Delicious pizza, decent wine, plenty of girl talk- does it get any better than that?!

Came here with my family after my sister's dance show at UGA (which was awesome!) and had some snacks. It is here that I discovered I really like pear hard cider (because I'm girly like that). I also discovered that no matter how good the toppings are on bread, it won't be THAT great if the bread isn't high quality. Their roasted garlic app, and the bruschetta app were both just OK because the bread was severely lacking. I loved the bruschetta topping (delicious, tasted like fresh tomatoes & just the right amount of garlic). I just wish the bread didn't taste like week-old toasted wonder bread. Seriously, it was NOT good. I did, however, love that I saw a vegetarian pizza listed on the menu. Athens has a lot of places that make note of their veggie offerings in plain sight, and I really appreciate that. So, three stars for Transmet. Maybe work on the bread quality, and then the place would totally be worthy of four.

The white pizza is great! The menu here is good but the service can be slow. If the line is more than 6 people deep then come back another day.

There is a good reason for the line... I had just arrived from Los Angeles coming to interview at University of Georgia. My potential Faculty Advisor picked me up at the hotel and took me to Transmetropolitan. At first, I thought it was an odd place for a professor at UGA to take me, but quickly realized the charm. After waiting 15 minutes in line we ordered 4 slices of pizza, walked upstairs to order a pitcher of Terrapin Rye Pale Ale, and waited. I rarely give restaurants 5 stars, but I have several reasons for this one... Pros: The pizza is GREAT. I ordered the Hungry Sasquatch and the BBQ Chicken (both were quite delicious). They had a decent amount of beer on tap (in addition to bottled brew). There was a fully stocked bar upstairs. The atmosphere was great with accomodations that seemed to fit any sized party as well as a wide variety of clientele. Cons: Pizza took a long time to prepare (i went on a seemingly busy night, though). "Must get" item: BBQ Chicken pizza Prices: Pizza slices 3-4 dollars (very large slices, though). Not sure on the alcohol prices because my host kindly paid for the beer pitcher.

i really can't imagine anyone giving this place a score less than 4 stars. i mean, if we're really going by the rules, "yay im a fan" is spot on. its not someplace that you CAN have a distaste for, really. there's drinks/bar/tables/group accommodations upstairs. and theres big booths with a relaxed feel downstaris. sure, you order at the counter, but they always bring the food to your table. it seems easy enough to me. no need to sit in silence at the table while everyone reads the menu.

  • JOY T.

good atmosphere, good food, and open late whats not to like?? The pizza slices are huge and its about 3 bucks and some change for each slice. The sicilian slices are thick, crusty, and totally yummy! They loadddd the toppings on the pizzas, especially the hungry sasquatch!! My friend gets the pasta with creamy marinara which is like any other simple pasta, but the sauce is good. I've never had the paninis here, but they are wayy bigger than any other paninis anywhere else. For 10 dollars it can get me overly stuffed with 2 pizzas and a glass of Terrapin andddddd leftovers for tomorrow's lunch.

If I were basing my review solely on the quality and flavor of their food, I would have given 3 stars, but I added one because I really enjoy the atmosphere of this place. I came here for the first time a few weeks ago for dinner with a few friends and it was overall a very enjoyable experience. I got the spinach artichoke lasagna with a side salad (poppy seed dressing). Although the lasagna was uninspiring, I was quite impressed with their side salad. it was very nicely prepared and actually had a good mix of ingredients (whereas most places give you stale lettuce). The service was good and I had a very enjoyable dinner. I've also been here later at night to enjoy the full bar they have upstairs. While chilling with friends and talking, I got really hungry and thus I got a slice of bbq chicken pizza right before they closed the kitchen, and it was pretty good. They give you a really big slice, and for $3, it wasn't bad at all. We were all sitting in the couch area, and it was just a really nice place to talk and sip on a few drinks. So, overall, while I'd never come here to simply grab a bite to eat, I'll definitely come back when I'm with friends at night and we want a place we can hang out that also has the option of food if we get hungry.

Like many other reviewers I'll say that the pizza is really good. The pasta/sauce combos are really good. The salads are tasty. The sandwiches are yummy. The standing in a long line to order your food is annoying. Especially because you'll be waiting for what seems like forever to get your food. The bar upstairs is a nice place to gather with friends. Bartenders always seem to be attentive. If you can scoop up one of the outdoor tables then you've got great people watching. One beef: I went for bloody mary's one Sunday at 12:30 and was told by the staff that their bartender wasn't scheduled to come in until 1pm. The waitstaff was not authorized to do anything other than crack open a beer for us. Maybe this was a one-time deal where the scheduling went awry but it was a major disappointment. My crew got lucky and snagged the corner table outside The Globe and ordered our bloody's and mimosas until it was time to switch to beer a few hours later! Too bad, Transmet. TIP: Just go ahead and order a whole pizza. It'll take just as long to get it and it'll be fresh and full of melty delicious cheese (if you're into that kind of thing). The slices are fine but the fresh pies are where it's at.

Pesto chicken sandwich with roasted potatoes and balsamic dressing = freaking amazing. Also, I love the build your own salad option- they have TONS of fresh veggies, and the blackened tofu is really good. That being said, not everything on the menu is amazing...I've had some sandwiches that were too much bread, not enough filling. The pizza tastes like pizza...nothing too special. Also, it takes forever to get your food when it is busy. Overall, Transmet is a fun place to eat with friends or go on a casual date. It has a cool atmosphere and a fun bar upstairs.

Came here on a road trip with my buddy. We visited his sister who is a law student at UGA, and she presented this place as a pretty standard dinner spot. The food was solid, definitely worth four stars. Chill atmosphere, right in the heart of downtown with the bars and campus a few blocks away. The pizza slices looked good, and the sandwiches hit the spot, Good sweet tea too. Why not five stars? Because I'm an NYC pizza snob. But otherwise, a good date place or a place for a bunch of friends.

I have visited Transmet six or seven times. I like the dark funkiness of the place, I like the jukebox, I like the cheap wine. The food is just "tide me over 'cuz I don't feel like heading to a real restaurant" stuff. Still, I carry fond memories. First time I was here, it was only about 5 pm, still daylight and not busy. We ordered our food fast (not to be the case on subsequent visits, of course), headed upstairs, snagged seats streetside where we happily drank, chatted, and commented on people we observed. Fun being upstairs! My advice to the staff: turn the t.v. down when not one, not two, but five of your patrons at one table barside politely request it! If I hadn't worn earplugs that last, wind-down Sunday night of Athfest 2006, I wouldn't be able to hear now. If the bartenders that night had honored our request, Transmet would receive four stars from me right now... I'll go back...but I'll be certain to have earplugs with me.

I spent a ton of time here on a recent trip to Athens, and there's a good reason for that. The pizza is excellent and the salads are - as the menu says - GIGANTE. Fresh ingredients, awesome bartenders and a laid back atmosphere - I could get used to this place. I did get used to this place. The bartenders usually pick the music upstairs and are happy to play anything you request.

I'm thinking the oglethorpe location must be different from the Clayton location as my experience (twice) was HORRIBLE!!! get there and the place is empty- seated at booth which is swimming with crumbs and dried soda. Order at 11:50. 8 tables come in and are seated. 7 tables get food- we ask about ours (pizza slice and a sandwich)- the waitress tells me that a large togo order came in, everything is cooked fresh, blah blah blah. Why is everyone else eating? Did I tell you our waitrress was patronizing as hell???? Food arrives, sandwich is cold, pizza looks like burnt cheese pizza with a blob of toppings on one side. No apologies for the delay. Yuck. My first time there was bad too, I'm an idiot for going back.

I go here for five menu items and have never strayed from them: Gigante Salad: HUGE salad with feta, olives, and tons of other veggies. We always split this big, fresh delicious salad. If you tell them that you're sharing they will gladly give you two dressings on the side, and will generally bring an extra plate and even an extra wedge of yummy bread. Winner! It is more than a meal if you eat this by yourself. Cream of Potato Soup: Soooo rich, creamy and delicious. On top of that, it is bacon free so it is also vegetarian. Try a cup with your 1/2 of the Gigante salad for a good meal, or get a bowl by itself and leave full. This soup is always on the menu. Pizza: Reliably tasty. What can I say? It's good pizza. Calzones: Way back in the day, shortly after the dinosaurs went back their mother ships, I lived in Syracuse, NY. While I was there I would regularly dine at a place that has since closed, but that use to have the best calzones ever. No calzone could live up -- until Transmet! Sauce comes on the side, so they aren't soggy. Fillings are fresh and delicious! YUM! They're BIG, too. You could split one of these and a Gigante salad with a friend and be very full. Pasta: Pick your own pasta and toppings. I suggest the spinach pasta, artichokes, marinera, and whatever else you love. So delicious! This place is a vegetarian paradise, so head on over. The upstairs is adorable and beautifully decorated, just let them know if they need to bring your food up there. The downstairs is fun and loud. Outdoor seating is fun, with piped music. The place sorta has waiter service - you order at the register, but they bring your food. Tip 'em nicely (as you should) and they'll refill your drinks - otherwise you'll have to trot up to the front (or to the bar upstairs) and ask for more. Restrooms are on both floors - both are single seaters and a pleasant experience. The full bar is upstairs and is NOT handicapped accessible, but the downstairs dining area and potties are.

I absolutely love Transmet :) The checkered floor outside invites you into this casual pizza place. Upon entering you're greeted to the smell of delcious pizza and the sound of noisy crowds seated at the tall wooden booths & tables. However, that's not all Transmet has to offer it also has an upstairs bar with additional tables to dine at. Cheap pizza & an upstairs bar!?!? I'm in heaven! I always order a slice of pepperoni pizza which is consistently good & oversized. The downside though is this place gets pretty busy and the line at times can be a little daunting.

Great place to come with groups. Pizzas and sandwiches are delish. Fun system of bringing the food to your table via music inspired flags. The front porch is great for relaxing and enjoying your food. Fun atmosphere, trivia weekly, and great location.

As an Athens native, I can firmly say that I've eaten at every restaurant in town over the course of the last 30 years. I currently live in Atlanta, so maybe my standards have been raised, if only slightly. Bearing that in mind, I really think the pizza here stinks. We ordered 4 pizzas-plain, veggie, pepperoni, and sausage-and every one of them tasted horrible. Heavy, heavy greasy cheese, almost no tomato sauce on any slices, and thick, chewy dough that was luck rubber. Also, there was a very odd sweetness to all of the different pizzas that overpowered the ingredients. Good pizza is measured by how a plain slice tastes-if the slice isn't good, then no amount of toppings is going to fix that. Transmetropolitain might work for starving college students, but if your palate has evolved beyond ramen noodles and grilled cheese sandwiches, I wouldn't recommend it. b

This place infuriates me. Go at a time when nobody else is eating food and it is fine, the food is decent (although inconsistent and nothing special). But it takes about an hour to place your order and there is better food a block in any direction. It is unacceptable that you must order from the register. There is a constant long line you must stand in to order food. There is only ONE register with ONE person working behind it. It would be so easy for them to put in one or two more registers to speed up the process and to save customers a massive amount of time. It is one of the most glaring bottlenecks I have seen in my life. When I go to Transmet, I feel like they are doing me a favor by taking my order. I really do not feel like they care whether I come or not. If they did, they would put in another register so I could order my food promptly. I hate lines more than anything else in the world. That is why I give Transmet two stars, why I try to avoid it like the plague, and why you should to.

My first time here and it was so good!!! I ordered a side salad and it was so fresh. I tried a slice of vegetarian pizza with the traditional/thin crust and it was amazing!!! I had never had a Sicilian crust so tried that one.."white" I think with cheese, garlic, basil, etc. and it was really good too. The Sicilian crust was huge, I had no idea. It was about 2 inches tall! Next time I'll see if I can get that one on the thin crust. Everything tasted so good and I will definitely go back!!

As with The Globe, I wish I could give this place more than one rating. Transmet is a great bar. (Go upstairs if you're thinking to yourself, "What? I peeked in while walking by and it didn't look so hot to me!") Downstairs has those big cram-everyone-in booths and long tables for big groups, but upstairs has a full-service bar and a big back room for private parties and the occasional music show. There's a barely-used computer with free internet, TV sets above the bar that show The Simpsons, and you can have the wait staff deliver your food up here, too. (It'll help if you tell 'em you're heading upstairs upon ordering your food--that way they won't wander around downstairs for a long time looking for you.) The food service can be ridiculously slow. If you want a quick slice of pizza pie or a more-for-your-money sandwich, your best bet is to go around the corner to Little Italy. if you have time to wait, stick by Transmet and have a drink or more while you chat with friends. Sometimes you wait 10 minutes--sometimes an hour or more. The build-your-own salad and build-your-own pasta bowl menu items are pretty inexpensive and you can create delectable treats that are as healthy or naughty as you wish. Ingredients are fresh and yummy. The list of pizza toppings is extraordinarily extensive--why not try something different? In the last year or so, the once-amazing sandwiches have become blah. Served on warm and thick bread, they used to be served high with ingredients. Now it's rare that the entire piece of bread has stuff on it. (Usually the two slices are touching with nothing in between in more than one spot.) Quite a shame. I've ordered and reordered my favorite, a sandwich with warm turkey slices and artichoke served with a spicy little dipping sauce, only to be disappointed repeatedly. Bad Janet! Stop spending $8 on bread with sparse decor. Leave a buck in the tip jar when you order and/or a buck or two on the table when you get up to leave. Maybe those refills will come more quickly. :)

Alright, alright... Maybe I judged this place too harshly on first take... On my second visit, I enjoyed the "ROASTED GARLIC with toasted bread and kalamata olives" appetizer, with a choice of basil, kalamata olive, or sun dried tomato pesto (I chose the kalamata pesto). The toasted bread was so-so, and the roasted garlic was a little cup of olive oil with cloves of garlic swimming in it, but the little cup of pesto accompanied by a good amount of kalamata olives made it all worthwhile... Based on this experience, I will have to come back to Transmet just to eat the pesto and olives, because, well, I love pesto and olives, and the kalamata olive pesto was friggin' awesome.

Man, these reviewers are snobs! Yes, it reminds you of Fellinis. Big Deal. The guys who started it used to work there. Fellinis has a good system, and good food, so whats the problem? There also aren't any Fellini's restaurants in Athens. I'm a touch biased as the guys who own this joint were my buddies in college and when I worked with them. They're still friends but we've wandered in our own directions... Anyway, i ate here today with 2 friends while doing a craft fest down the street. By doing i mean I was a vendor, get your mind out of the gutter. We got 5 slices total and it was more than enough! I had the regular slice with spinach and ham. It was fresh out of the oven and piping hot with oozy melty cheese! YUM! My friends got different sicilian special slices- the veggie pesto and a veggie chicken pesto type deal. MAN those looked good! I thought about punching Sarah in the face and stealing her food but she was my ride home. Thinking back I should have, because Jay would have given me a ride. Actually, no...thats a good way to lose friends. We had it take-out so i hesitate to give 5 stars. I had no drinks or other experience to give it "as good as it gets". Well, i used the bathroom...those were nice. but not so fancy and wonderful to warrant 5 stars. Oh, and if you order ahead, you don;t have to wait in line. they'll squeeze you in between the next customers! YAY pizza!

What a Disaster. I agree with the two star people except they were to nice. We ordered. Granted we had two calzones which take longer, but after one hour I asked where our food was. The said it was being plated. Still didn't come. We had watched as countless others who came well after us were served, yes they had calzones to. Finally the food shows up. Gooey over garlicky potatoes, awful sandwich. We politely question the server as to our wait time. This seemed to really upset him. How dare we expect to be fed by slacker dude. He was very combative and unapologetic. We witnessed the cashier dry humping some guy who walked in about 45 minutes after us. Looked over, presto he had his food. We still waited. To wait and hour and fifteen minutes for substandard food is truly a mistake I will not repeat. Towards clean up time (and possible tip) they came by once and asked if we wanted more tea. I left my two cents monetarily and literally with two pennies and a note that read Tip: Learn customer service. There are about ten awesome other places literally a stones throw from there. Skip it.

I pay like 2 bucks, and get a giant slice of pizza. I mean, like if I got two I'd be more than full kinda slice of pizza. But maybe I don't want a slice, maybe I want to split something with some friends--and they've got a ton of toppings to choose from, from feta to spinich to blackened chicken and sun-driend tomatoes. Reasonable bar upstairs, too. Not always the best specials or anything, but it'll go well with your pizza.

Had the Italian Meats Cal-zone and a Sicilian slice of Hawaiian. Calzone was very good and unique. Probably wouldn't do the Hawaiian again, but your mileage may vary. Also had the Mozz Caprese as an appetizer and that was, well, it's mozz and tomatoes so it is what it is. They have this thing where you can buy the kitchen a round of beers for $5. I did, and when the waitress went back to the kitchen, we heard a cheer come from the kitchen. And that sort of things just doesn't happen every day where you have a chance to make 3 or 4 people happy for $5. When I asked the waitress if that was a local thing, she said no, its just the kind of thing TransMet does that make it a fun place to work.

The food used to be good. Now it is shit. Also when I talked to the manager about the poor experience I had rather than at least pretending to care he was a rude little hobbit. The staff all seemed to find it entertaining that I wanted to complain to a manager (they clearly knew it was a useless effort) and I had several waiters hear my complaint before I spoke with him. We ordered a pizza and because of previous experiences we asked that it be cooked a little longer than usual. When the pizza came out it had not been cooked long enough by anyone's standard. The crust was dough-y. The manager first said, "That's how we make it." Then once probed longer said, "Well we only have one oven right now." So you're under cooking pizza on purpose because you have one oven?? I have spoken with several friends and co-workers who have also had bad experiences recently. It seems like once they began remodeling the store the food went downhill. The staff is polite but are inattentive and take too long to refill drinks and what not. If you want pizza downtown just go to Ted's Most Best or Little Italy. Even Brixx is a better option.

I went to TransMet without any expectations of the food, but I was told that the food was pretty decent. I'm not easily impressed with food; however, it does take a lot for me to not like the experience. I went to lunch with my co-workers. I had the spinach and artichoke panini. It tasted extremely bland. I was surprised at how much of a lack of flavor it had. Also to add to the disappointment, the side of potatoes were burnt and there was only 3 of them. I wish I could say that I was the only one that had that experience, but most of my co-workers felt the same way and they had different dishes. Two of my friends had the the pasta dishes and they also felt that it lacked so much flavor, they were adding the pizza herbs and spices to it. Another co-worker ordered the Cobb salad which was suppose to come with bacon. The salad was so small and at first different even come with bacon that it had to be sent back. Another co-worker had the lasagna and unfortunately, it looked better than it tasted. I left the restaurant wanting another meal because I definitely wasn't satisfied and ended up going to another place to eat. I was told that the pizza is great and that's what they're known for. I'm not completely ruling this place out. If I end up going again, I'll just get the pizza and reevaluate this restaurant.

For this place being in a college town, the food isn't bad. But the service is terrible. Expect a wait when ordering food and especially drinks. The bar is kind of slow and the wait staff is too. The food on the other hand is pretty good. I had a Louisiana Blackened Chicken Pizza(minus the jalapenos on my half). It was great. Nice and hot and full of flavor. If you have time to spare and don't mind waiting for a while to order and get your food, I'd say it's worth a shot to try out.

Stop #3 in our restaurant hopping for our Athens Day trip was at the Transmetropolitan (Transmet for short) in downtown Athens. Apparently they are known for their pizza, but we wanted to save our stomach for some more food later in the day, so we opted for just one slice of pizza. The Red Curry Thai pizza was calling out to us, with the peppers, onions, breaded eggplant, and mozzarella cheese. I mean, how can you pass that up? You can't. It was glorious. There's a Thai Pizza restaurant in St. Louis that I frequented when I was in college, and this reminded me a lot of it. We had also ordered this to-go and the waitress told us it would be a 15 minute wait, but it turned out to be shorter than that so we were happy. However, I can't speak too much to the atmosphere or service since we did take it to go. Parking: street parking for $0.75 per hour (2 hr max), or parking deck for $5. *Disclaimer: Came here for a day trip in Athens, quickly hitting up some of the local faves.

The worst service I've think I ever had! Only 1 server for a group of 15. She had to be asked to bring out plates and constantly reminded to replenish drinks. Stuck her finger in my glass when she took it to refill. One of our orders was "lost" resulting in having to wait for 2 pizzas to be remade after serving the original order. Margarita pizza was horrid. Sasquatch pizza was pretty good. Hot and muggy inside. Thermostat read 85F inside. While our host was complaining to the manager about our experience, our server could be seen behind the bar laughing about it. I felt like I was in an episode of "Bar Rescue". Where is John Taffer when you need him?

I came here with a large group of 8 people after a basketball game on campus. It had mixed reviews so we figured we'd give it a shot. The food was fantastic but the service was extremely slow! Not sure if our server was new, but it took him about 15-20 minutes to get a bottle of beer. He got everyone else's drink at the table except for this bottle of beer which should've been the easiest drink to serve. Besides the service, the food was very good! We started with the Roasted Garlic dip and focaccia bread. This was the most amazing garlic appetizer I've had in a while! The dip was actual whole cloves of roasted garlic in oil. Loved that! My main entrée was the Pasta Capri. It consisted of cheese tortellini, mushrooms, and baked eggplant (or chicken, your choice) in a basil pesto sauce. The sauce was very thick but not overwhelming. I'd definitely give this place another try with a different server as we may have better luck next time.

Ahhh nostalgia. I was always a huge fan of Transmet when I lived in Athens, so naturally we went here for a late dinner when we rolled into Athens the night before the game. I'm not sure if I had it on an Athens memories pedestal or if I'm spoiled by great food and service in Atlanta, but Transmet just wasn't quite what I remembered it to be. The hostess immediately sat us upstairs, a huge plus on a busy game weekend Friday night in Athens. Our server was friendly, but not the best. (Then again I was once the world's worst waitress in Athens, so maybe I shouldn't judge.) Our table of three ordered a pitcher of pumpkin beer. Unfortunately I do not remember the name of the first pumpkin beer I have ever liked, but I liked it so much I ordered a pint of it after we finished the pitcher. One of my friends was basically not drinking, and the other requested a Terrapin for himself. Only in a college town does "I'll have a Terrapin" result in a pitcher rather than a pint. Gotta love Athens! Now for the pizza itself. I split a chicken pesto pizza with one of my friends. It was good but not great. Antico, Varasano's, Fellini's, and yes even Mellow Mushroom in Atlanta are all better than a pizza at Transmet. It was perfectly tasty, especially when doused in ranch, but truthfully I remembered their pizza as being a lot better. My other buddy got alfredo pasta with an assortment of vegetables and found it to be alright as well. In summary, the service is what you would expect from college kids working downtown Athens and the pizza isn't anywhere nearly as spectacular as I remembered it. The location is great, and the memories are even greater, so I'll continue coming back even if it ain't as good as it once was.

Food was OK. I had the Italian Meats Calzone - was pretty good, big chunks of meat with an unexpectedly spicy marinara with heat that kind of builds. It was a little small for $10. Nothing to write home about. The wait staff was generally disinterested and service was very slow. Over an hour before we got our food and when we arrived there was hardly anybody there. One person in our party got the wrong burger - twice. Other waitress spilled an entire tray of drinks on the floor and amazingly, no one ever cleaned it up. Huge puddle with ice cubes and lemons on the floor for over an hour - they are lucky nobody slipped and fell. There are a lot of great options for food in the immediate area, and this one isn't worth the effort, in my opinion.

This is a cool pizza spot in downtown Athens. The space has maintained the original structure with a lot of character and charm. Especially on the second floor, the window panes, hardwood floors, and overall feel of the venue make you feel like you're in an authentic saloon. For the architecture alone this restaurant gets high marks. The food was delicious. I had two thin crust slices of their vegetarian pesto and loved every bite. Also had a side salad with spinach substituting lettuce and it was really good too. My friends, one couple ordered a medium pizza that had ham and a few other toppings and they devoured most of it. The other couple had a thai calzone and didn't leave a crumb so I'm guessing they were pretty satisfied! Word of caution when ordering, slices are large so if you're not that hungry, order conservatively. The medium pizza that was at our table looked like a large, they are really generous with portion sizes! Service was good. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. This is a downtown spot worth checking out for pizza aficionados.

Has become pretty hit and miss. Out of the past several times I've gone, I've sometimes been satisfied with what I've gotten (usually two slices of a pizza), and other times been kinda disappointed. It's also quite pricey, though unlike Mellow, you can order single slices after lunch.

The food here is pretty decent, but the customer service is absolutely atrocious. The waitresses are all rude and do not have any consideration for their customers. For example, as my family and I were waiting for a table, another group walked in. The group told the hostess that they had a reservation for a party room. The hostess then panicked and told the group that they had given away the group's party room. Also, my mother's food was cold. She ate it, and when the waitress asked how it was, she told her that it was cold. The waitress did not do anything. All she did was give a fake smile, say sorry, and that was is it. No discount. No nothing. I will definitely not be returning to this place ever again.

Worst servers ever. I have been here five times now, thinking, "I'll give them anther chance." Never worked: from lazy servers, to screwing up our meal, bringing the wrong drink AND MAKING US PAY FOR BOTH (even when it was the servers fault!), to getting attitude from a server, it has never been worth it. Food is ok. But the service is terrible and slow. Their pizza is overrated.

I will never eat here again. The worst possible service I've ever experienced at a pizza restaurant. I ordered 2 sliced of cheese pizza TO GO. I waited 30 minutes to get them, and they were cold. This wasn't a busy night or I would completely understand. This also isn't the first time this has happened. I was giving them one more chance and they ruined it. Will not be returning.

These people take pizza to a whole new level! I had a slice of the chicken pesto and the fresh ingredients stood out. Very very good! I opted for the Sicilian size on my second piece and was SHOCKED at its size - wow! Took a few bites and plan to have the rest for breakfast. Nice beers on tap and very friendly customer service ! So glad we are here!

We stopped in here today because we came downtown to have pizza at Amici and watch the soccer match a bit. But they were closed, and this was the next pizza place we came across. We're new in town, so didn't know much better. Haven't gotten our food yet (the correct order, at least), but so far not impressed with service. Been sitting here for about 15 minutes with an empty drink glass. They brought our pizza out, but it wasn't made correctly--barely got an apology out of the waitress as she took it back. Hoping that the right pizza actually is worth the hassle. Back now--the replacement pizza was mediocre at best. Essentially no sauce, the "extra" mozzarella described on the menu was less than what normally comes on a pizza. And we still found rogue onions among the toppings after repeatedly requesting their absence. The crust was good. That's about all I've got in the way of positive comments. The manager was sympathetic to the repeated mistakes, and do offer to take some off the price of the pizza. Not much atmosphere to speak of, very loud inside, and hot. I felt like I was baking at the table. Heard that the upstairs area is nice, but was full so we stayed downstairs. Won't be returning to see what the upstairs actually has to offer.

Party Size = 6 people including 1 future UGA student and 1 student whose boyfriend attends UGA. Make sure you read the 38 reviews that Yelp doesn't recommend on this place and you may think, as I did, that the 3+ stars they are getting are really not deserved. Go to this place IF you enjoy waiting over an hour for the first course of your food i.e. a salad. Go to this place IF you enjoy having a rude waitress who blames everyone else for her slow service i.e. "The kitchen is backed up because there is a graduation party" and does nothing to correct the situation. Graduation parties happen year in and year out in this town. Wouldn't a restaurant figure it out by now??? And how is their lack of planning and staffing my problem again? Oh wait, 4 tables were served before we were by a waiter (despite said grad party) who stood at the kitchen pushing the kitchen staff for his stuff while our waitress fluffed about. Right it's the kitchen's fault. Go to this place IF you enjoy complaining to the manager only to discover the manager is actually the pizza maker and looks like he has done so much weed in his student career he has trouble focusing on what you are saying. Salads = Wonderful Pizza = Awful The "Traditional" is more like 2 inches thick of bread with measly sauce and cheese. The "Thin crust" is edible but has a slightly tasting sweet marina sauce on it. Ewww. Turkey Sandwich = Awful My husband had two bites and left it for the waitress to pick up.

Best pizza in Athens!! Absolutely love this place! If rather pick up pizza from here than to order from a chain pizza place anyway!!! Wine and pizza, what else do you really want????
