Ate here before the Georgia game. Food was really good, the four of us had sizzling rice soup for 4, Mongolian Beef and Shrimp Chow Mein, sooo good and plenty of good!

I ordered the sesame chicken and egg drop soup (take-out). I had just moved that day, so I didn't have silverware, and none was included in my bag. Minus one star. The cashier was very nice, and the food was decent; I guess a it what one would expect in Athens. The rice was good, but it was drenched at the bottom in sauce; the chicken was also sitting in a lot of sauce, making it a little too soft. Overall: decent.

My favorite Chinese in the area! I LOVE the salt & pepper pork, and they always cook the vegetables just right...crisp and green.

I like there food a lot, but I've only been able to order from them about 1 in 3 times... most times I call and the phone rings and rings and rings across multiple calls over 20 minutes or more. I sad to get excited for the food then you can't even order.

This used to be a great place to eat, I'm not sure how authentic the food was but it was good. Now... it has gone downhill greatly. The quality of food is no longer what it used to be, seems cheap now. It is not as flavorful an perfectly cooked anymore. Lower quality meat used also? I used to love the buffet during lunch because of the great price and good options on the buffet, but not anymore. Also, the restaurant itself seems in bad shape. Some of the furniture is broken and taped together and the rest doesn't look like it has been updated in a very long time. I wonder how the kitchen looks if the part were patrons are looks in bad shape?

I love the General Tso chicken & was excited it tastes the same as I remember from my UGA days. Our table also ordered the bourbon chicken (which my husband thought was OK) & the vegetable plate (which my mother-in-law enjoyed). Service was great & portions were abundant, BUT the dining area could use a good cleaning ... especially dusting.

I think the dinner is pretty good here. They give you very large servings which is nice. I've lived in atlanta my entire life so I can say it isn't the best I've ever had, but it's a great place to have a dinner date! It's a good price and will leave you happy. I had the lunch here once which is why I gave it four stars because it was really more of the all you can eat lunch buffet style instead of the quality cooked one. But hey, it's a college town!

Went in for a to-go an hour after lunch hours ended but he still asked if I wanted lunch instead of dinner. That was nice. Great tasting meal. I got the chicken Lo Mein (LOVED IT) with fried rice, hot n sour soup, and an egg roll all for $6.40!

Tried on two different occasions and was not impressed either time. We've ordered via menu and also tried the buffet. Portions were great so you will certainly get your fill - but what it made up for in size could not overshadow what it lacked in taste or appearance. Some of the chicken had a heavy starch flavor which is either their process of cooking or an attempt to save the meat from going bad. The noodles were also rather greasy. Rice and veggies were okay. Very blah

Agreed with Sean. P that there is no good Chinese food here at all. So I'd rather cook Chinese food at home.

It'll do. I've eaten here several times and the food is usually decent, but nothing to really rave about. The take-out portions are large - enough for two easily. The hot and sour soup is pretty tasty, but not the best I've ever had and pretty inconsistent in taste. My Chinese friends tell me that they have another (more authentic) menu if you ask, but they say the quality is rather inconsistent and sometimes items seem less than fresh. Unfortunately, it's among the best Chinese food Athens has to offer.

I have been going to Peking for twenty years. It's got wonderful service and great ambiance. They have a large menu and you cannot go wrong with anything you choose. Love the pork lo mein and the general tsu's chicken!

The food is great, and the atmosphere is too. Aside from the usual menu, they also offer a Korean menu in the back of the regular menu and a separate traditional Szechuan style Chinese menu. It's got probably the best Asian food in Athens.

Where do I begin, I took my elderly mother in to treat her for dinner and we ordered the Peking dinner for two. The soup was fine so we ate that, but when the rice came out it actually LOOKED bad! It tasted even worse and both of us decided it was so bad we would request another batch. Then came the entry, the beef tasted and even smelled foul and was cold indicating possible bacteria build up since any third grader knows it only takes about an hour for meat to build bacteria at room temperature. I told the waitress we could not eat any of our meal and that I was even willing to pay for the soup but that we would have to leave. as if all this was not bad enough, the owner had to make it worse!! Out comes the owner. Now mind you, I am also a business owner and I was raised in an entrepreneur family and was always taught the customer is always right and the main thing is to keep the customer happy. So what does the clown do (I will explain why he is a clown soon) does he apologize for our ruined meal? does he offer to decline my offer to pay for such an awful experience? No, what he does do is insist that the meal was fine! Even tells my elderly mother the meat, that her and I both told him was foul tasting, was FINE! So, not only is he insulting us both, but he was also calling us both LIARS! Its bad enough he was calling me a liar since I am not only a successful business owner but also prior military and hold personal integrity very high and therefore I live a very honest life, but he had the nerve to actually call my elderly mother a liar right in front of me! Well, all I can say is it took every ounce of discipline I have developed in my life not to lay this guy out and if I were not on his property I WOULD have! So, in summary...bad food prepared even worse, but the low life ownership makes the food seem like caviar!! Will never go again and will makes sure to spread the word to as many clients of mine as I can in the local community I server with my business (which is a BUNCH of people)! In the end, probably better pay back than the *** wooping this clown deserved!!

Good Chinese food is nonexistent in Athens - it's all the same. Hell, it's hard enough finding good dim sum in all of Atlanta. That being said, Peking isn't amazing but it's not terrible either. What I do like about this place is that they offer both a traditional Chinese menu upon request and the usual Americanized menu. The traditional menu offers many dishes that many UGA students aren't familiar with but has a wide variety of dishes The Americanized menu is your typical menu and you can find it in any of the various Chinese restaurants around Athens. As for how the food is, it's either done right or overly greasy. If the latter, you'll often find droplet or pools of grease floating on the bottom of the plate. Pretty much it comes down to prices but the prices tend to be similar between all the Chinese restaurants around town. If you're feeling adventurous, go for the traditional or Koreanized menu but you shouldn't be disappointed if ordering off the regular menu.

I have been to this location twice in the past year. The first visit was positive for the most part. The restaurant was clean, the staff was friendly (however our server was efficient but not overly personable), and the food was very good. The second time was take-out. While the food was delivered very quickly (about 20 minutes), I am very suspicious that they took the food out of the buffet. There was also a delivery charge. We ordered sesame chicken and it was dry and had very little sauce and/or flavor. We also order chicken lo mein that was ok, but not great. We also had steamed dumplings, which were actually pretty decent. I have had better Chinese food on the Eastside, so I will probably steer clear of Peking Restaurant in the future.

Not bad if all you're expecting is take-out style Chinese...

This is my Chinese take out place! Really cheap for lunch specials. Get a ton of chicken. I avoid the soups and replace them with an extra egg roll. Rice is very good esp with mustard sauce and soy sauce. I have also been known to go right down the road and buy a bowl of the mustard-y sauce from Choo Choo's and put that all over my Peking rice. The Peking Chicken is great and different from other Chinese, the General Tso's is incredible, the sesame chicken is good. I also like getting the sweet and sour chicken with the sauce on the side(they smother it in sauce otherwise) it is good as well if you are in the mood for that. Overall a great place to get take out from! Has good management. Never eaten inside because the prices are too steep for a college student. Overall it is my favorite Chinese so far.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
