I've always been skeptical about trying this place because based on APPEARANCES, it really looks like a fast food joint (i.e. Wendys, Burger King, Mickey Ds, etc). Not that I have ANYTHING against fast food joints, but if I wanted a fast food type burger there's something called a drive-through and much, MUCH easier parking spots. I'm glad I went :] While the burger is still just as greasy, and I'm probably clogging up my arteries with every bite, it is a delicious way of being unhealthy! I'm a big, BIG fan of toppings and five guys offers you just that. Grilled mushrooms? Check. Grilled onions? Check. Tomatoes, jalapenos, slab some cheese and extra lettuce please? Check! Don't be fooled by the name, because the regular burger's got a hearty helping of meat (like two patties---eeek! too much meat for me!). Order the smaller burger size if you want the 1 patty. Someone mentioned that this place surpasses In-N-Out. This is simply NOT the case. In-N-Out seriously has the freshest ingredients EVER....I'm going back to California this summer and the first thing I'm doing when I land is going to In-N-Out (not even kidding). But for Georgia, five guys is pretty good. There's a big box of peanuts which I helped myself to while waiting for my order. Free peanuts? YAYYY I'm a fan!

I had a great experience at Five Guys today from a worker named Matthew. He was genuinely courteous and made me want to continue giving my business to this restaurant! Workers like Matthew are what make going a restaurant a positive experience. Go Dawgs!

My stomach has roughly the same sensitivity as a trash compacter. I can eat anything and everything. Except Five Guys, apparently. The lights didn't bother me, and I like that they have a board proclaiming the origin of the day's potatoes. And those potatoes do indeed make some delicious french fries. I also adored the unlimited free refills, as those places are hard to find in downtown Athens. The burger was good, but I think I went a little topping crazy. Next time I'll have to exercise a little restraint. That is, if my stomach will forgive me enough for there to BE a next time...

First, I am not a burger fan, but, we tried this place and it does have a decent burger. One can go topping nuts here, which is a plus and making each burger the way one enjoys it. I made a huge mistake by ordering their "Regular" burger vs. the small and was shocked to find TWO burgers in my sandwich, one of which I immediately removed. The second mistake was ordering a large fry to share. The large fry could be shared by six and we had a party of three and could not consume more than half. So, be prepared when you go and have a normal appetitie to order the 'SMALL" burger and small fry, if you want the fries at all. Peanuts are available to all in any quantity, so, if you are not that hungry munch on the peanuts while waiting for the burger. We enjoyed the music and people-watching at this downtown Athens location.

burgers - good. I got a little bacon burger. It was $4.something compared to the grill and clocked, it's cheaper. so yay! Fries- sometimes quantity doesn't make up for quality. ya. not very good fries, but plenty of them.

    Overpriced and filthy.

I have no idea how they are so highly reviewed. Maybe because people are writing reviews while they're drunk? The burgers don't have a lot of taste and the last few times I've been the fries have been soggy. Wasting my calories elsewhere from now on.

So the lights will kill an epileptic or migraineur on a bad day and make all the patrons look zitty and washed out on a good day, but sitting outside with your back to the glaring monstrosity works out well! This evening my beau was headed to Five Guys to pick up some burgers and I crashed his party. (Can you tell I haven't gone grocery shopping in awhile? I've been eating out so much!) He faced the bright lights (which affect him too, brave and kind soul) ordered me some Cajun fries and a burger with nothing but cheese & onions on it--my favorite. The cheeseburger was DELICIOUS. The Cajun fries were plentiful (read: enough for 2-3 people to share, in my opinion) and yummy. After a

Initial take on Five Guys is pretty positive. Bacon cheeseburger was indeed a double, and it was quite yummy. The cajun crinkle fries were really spiced up, so watch out for those. Next time, I think I'll just stick with the burger alone, as it was definitely a cut above!

I'm not a fan of most fast food joints and don't remember the last time I ate at McDonald's, Wendy's, or Burger King. I do, however, enjoy a good burger every now and again. I don't like that a single CB, fries, and drink will run $10 at 5 Guys, but I can't deny that it's a decent burger and a little vinegar on the fries makes all the difference in the world. They're pretty quick to get your order out, too.

If you want the perfect greasy burger (especially if you've had some drinks the night before....) this is sent from the heavens above. And I love that you can get a smaller size burger if you like, and the toppings are all assembled nicely for you in good proportions. It's all in the details. However, they give you a ton of fries that are too salty for me. And I really like salt, but these are off the charts. I'd definitely check it out.
