Agua Linda Taqueria Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

I feel almost ashamed about how much I love Agua Linda. Its not the best Mexican food you are ever going to eat, but its consistent and you can add queso to anything so I'm a fan. The last few times I've been to Agua Linda, my group of friends has been ravenous. The second the warm tortilla chips and salsa hit the table everyone literally started smashing the chips into their mouths. For $3, its silly not to order queso or guacamole (or preferably both). The queso of course disappears faster than the salsa but there are free chip and salsa refills. Domestic pitchers are only $7- another no brainer when it comes to ordering. I typically order two chicken enchiladas with queso and a side of rice and beans for $8. The $9.50 supreme burrito is HUGE. Literally the biggest burrito I've ever seen. So impressive. There are cheaper places in Athens for Mexican food. I like Agua Linda's Mexican flag booths, "outside seating" which is really just a few parking spaces with tables in them, and atmosphere in general. The servers aren't the absolute friendliest, but they are quick and helpful when it comes to dividing up the checks. Parking can be a little tricky but there are typically plenty of spots on Prince if you can't find one in their parking lot.

Mid-August, AC is out, they have some big fans, all aimed away from the crowded front room. Three servers standing in front of the fans at all times. Don't try the mango margarita con chile. My wife says I have to say the food was good.

This place really deserves 3.5 stars. The positives are that the service was prompt and considerate. I ordered a chimichanga, and they were kind enough to allow me to substitute a chile relleno for the meat in it. That kind of care is always appreciated. As for the food, it was cooked well. The real issue is that it just isn't spectacular. This place uses hard shell tacos as opposed to a soft one. It's cheese dip and not queso. The salsas were not seasoned enough. The rice and beans were not bad, but not good. All in all, I think this is an OK American representation of Mexican food with muted flavors, heat, and salt.

I am a vegetarian (pescetarian specifically). Yes, there are not a lot of options for my type at this restaurant but this place has the best fish tacos (3 gringos) and fajitas. The food is authentic and the veggies are fresh. The chips with salsa and cheese with a pitcher of margarita are to die for! A great place to socialize with friends. Especially in the summer when you can sit outside.

GREAT service, food, and prices!!! SERVICE: Our server (Veronica) said "Gracias" to everything--it was genuine, warm, and said with a smile. She was awesome. She kept checking on us to make sure we and our food/drinks were okay (and not in that "pesky mosquito" way some places train their staff). She was knowledgeable and made great recommendations. Furthermore, I ordered a classic mojito that I thought was light on the rum. The server and bartender remediated my drink immediately without the begrudging gestures. More on that later. They definitely made my first visit there a good one (especially as a visitor to the area). FOOD: It isn't just a taco/burrito place! They have all the stuff you want plus more. For instance, I ordered the "Pollo Primavera." The chicken was moist and flavorful. The vegetables (they use mushrooms and zucchini, that says enough) was well seasoned and cooked. The rice was like nothing I had before. I would go there just to get that. all of our food arrived at a palatable temperature. Going back to the drink, they remedied the situation by adding a long pour of rum. I was impressed. However, when it got back to the table, I still couldn't taste it. But, let me say.... I felt it soon thereafter. That is the sign of a good bartender. Also, ad you may have gleaned, they do have a full bar stocked with the elusive mint. PRICE: For my HUGE plate of very filling chicken and vegetables and side of rice, I paid $11. Not bad for what I got including quality. My overall bill was $18 including my libation. DÉCOR: Meh.... They have a patio. The location is kinda questioning. The interior could use a more cohesive update. But, DO NOT let that deter you. I DEFINITELY RECOMMEND *THIS* LOCATION!!!

Have eaten here many years ago before moving away. Recently moved back to the area and couldn't wait to try it again. My family of 3 were all disappointed. My meal was just barely warm. My wife and daughter's meals were both cold. Not sure we will be back with so many options in the Athens area.

I'm sorry Agua Linda, but your higher prices, staff that is obviously tired of serving drunken Greeks, reduced menu choices, and limited parking means that you can now find me at Taqueria la Parilla. You will always hold a special place in my heart, but you need to step up your game to continue getting my business.

Great food for meat-eaters (love that barbacoa burrito), but few options for vegetarians. It is also very loud, crowded, and dark when I've been there for dinner.

Not authentic Mexican, but inexpensive. I'd say right between a chain mexican place and an authentic. Their chips and salsa were good (they were trying out two new salsas that were both fresh and delicious). The standard salsa didn't taste fresh or unique. I had the burrito, and it was about even par. I'd eat it again, but it wasn't something that I'll go out of my way to get. The salsa in the burrito somewhat made it soggy, where I prefer a more crispy burrito. My wife got the tacos and didn't think they were very good. The meat wasn't good, and neither were the toppings. The meat particularly tasted non-natural. Definitely would not suggest this. They do have great drink specials. When these are going on, it is probably worth a stop. Without the drink specials, don't go out of your way.

Your typical Mexican abode. Rating 5 stars because it's exactly what I expect a mexican restaurant in athens to be. greasy, spicy, daiquiri-ized.

Friendly staff....I had grilled shrimp salad. Plenty of shrimp...fair on the salad...my friend loves the enchiladas, and the prices were good...of course, the pitcher of margaritas also helps everything taste a little better too...

Agua Linda is my favorite mexican place in Athens. Authentic Mexican tacos. Affordable and enough food that you'll be full (and have leftovers). The fried ice cream is wonderful, fajitas so tasty, chalupas amazing, quesadilla fajita is just right, chimichanga is so good, and you can get a 64 oz mug of beer. You get chips and 3 types of dip when you walk in and refills as many times as you like. I've been to other mexican restaurants in town and keep coming back here. I especially like the one on Prince because of the atmosphere.

We had supper here last night (Oct. 2010) and it was AWESOME! Service was superb and our order was correctly delivered in a timely fashion. Will definitely return the next time we are in Athens :-)

We just moved to Athens and LOVE Mexican food! This was our first choice, just by our location. We were pleasantly surprised to find that dishes we tried were very authentic. Our salsa had just the right amount of cilantro to our liking and our dishes were piping hot upon arrival! My frozen margarita was not the typical watered down frozen margarita, it was flavorful and quite satisfying on a super hot afternoon! Our server was very attentive and very polite! All in all it is definitely a place we might call our regular watering hole! Thanks Agua Linda for a great, relaxing meal!

Wow! Great food. I think it's better than guapos. Had the carne asada which was delicious. The salsas were great. So was the unsweet tea. Wish the plates were hot though. Nice outdoor seating. Boyfriend thinks this place has the best enchiladas in town.

When I went to Agua Linda, the chips tasted stale. None of my friends enjoyed their entrees, which was really disappointing to all of us. I love Mexican food and can even tolerate the mediocre, but I don't foresee myself ever returning to this place.

My opinion may be a bit skewed given this was the first "real" meal I'd had after a 3-day backpacking trip on the Appalachian Trail, but this was some of the best Mexican food I've had in awhile. We arrived just after noon on a very hot Monday, so the initial rush of the A/C was a welcomed sensation. We were seated right away and offered complimentary chip with 3 types of salsa. The standard salsa was the perfect degree of spicy while very refreshing. The salsa verde and (what I assume was) a black bean-based salsa were also delicious in their individual ways. We requested a second serving of all three. Additionally we ordered a small cheese dip, which took awhile to get because of a mix-up, but once received was perfect consistency and didn't harden up super fast like some do. My husband ordered a steak chimichanga and I got the steak fajita taco salad. His was so good that I didn't even get a bite of it! Mine was also fantastic - lots of steak along side of grilled peppers and onions on a bed of lettuce, tomatoes, and refried beans and topped with guacamole, cheese dip, and sour cream (removed on mine). Holy bowl of deliciousness! Top the meal off with a cold beer from Terrapin and it was a perfect post-hiking splurge meal!

I don't think I've ever been this happy at a Mexican restaurant. There was no wait so I was able to immediately sit down. The waitress comes over with chips and 3 different types of salsa. We also ordered the cheese dip and guacamole. Typically, I'm not a fan of guacamole, but this was actually good and the cheese dip was phenomenal. I've been here twice and the first time I ordered the torta tradicional and the second time, i ordered the Cubano which of course has more things in it. Both times I was not disappointed at all. I really appreciated that the menu had many different types of specialities as well. I got my food quickly and really enjoyed my time here. The food seemed authentic and I would visit again just to try out different items on their menu.

Agua Linda is such an authentic mexican restaurant. It's packed on the weekends, but is a great spot to hit for weekday dinner dates. Their tomatillo salsa is so fresh, you'll want to put it on everything. Same goes for the smoky salsa they bring to you. Cheap date night destination!

This place is a nice little stop to grab some Mexican and relax. The location is okay, nothing fancy, same with the patio. Casual all the way. I do like the lights they have hanging on the patio. I ordered a Mexican taco, an enchilada, rice and beans with guacamole. The guacamole is delicious, a great blend of avocado and the fixings. When I got my main meal I was brought two enchiladas and no taco. I told them I would just eat it as is because I was starving. Not a huge deal but I wish I could have tried their taco too. The food was all good, and the overall experience was fine. The service is very nice and I would come back here again.

Excellent Mexican. I have been to several others around town. I love mexican. None of the ones I have been to thus far are amazing, but they do the trick for a craving. I'll go back.

I had some of the best times ever on the porch of this restaurant. two or three pitchers of delicious guava margaritas will do that to you. the last time I went, in February of 2008, they had changed the menu a little bit but you can still get the garden burrito if you ask for it. this is probably my most-missed restaurant now that I do not live in Athens anymore!

  • Alicia P.

Good, reasonably priced food, and fast service. I find myself coming here a lot. It's not completely amazing, but it's good. The tortas are really tasty, along with the chalupas they're my favorite things on the menu.

I actually reviewed the restaurant located off of Atlanta Hwy last time. BUT I did go here yesterday, and sadly I didn't enjoy this place as much as I wanted to. The food was alright---very typical. I think what really made me dislike the place was the service. Not only did they make us the wrong order but the waitress seemed to be off. We received no apology for giving us the wrong order (they made the wrong thing), there wasn't even any compensation for it. I guess that's asking too much? And we didn't want to send it back (ever seen the movie Waiting starring Ryan Reynolds? exactly...). Margaritas were subpar. Overall was NOT impressed and probably will hit up The Taco Stand or something else that tastes just as generic.

watered down margaritas and a million flies in the patio? no way. The food is decent but not enough to make up for the rest....

I love the free chips and salsa served at most Mexican restaurants. Give me 3 salsas and I am one happy guy. The 1st is a traditional red salsa similar to those at other restaurants. The 2nd is a smoky (but not spicy) darker red salsa that is I liked a lot. The 3rd is a tangy green tomatillo salsa with a little more bite. They are dispensed from a metal cart that reminds me of the carts used to serve Dim Sum in Chinese restaurants. The "Mexican" tacos (a.k.a street-style or traditional) are quite cheap and delicious as well!

  • Glen S.

Agua Linda, muy bueno. I really wanted to rate it higher, maybe 3 1/2 stars, but alas... I have always found the service to be great, which goes a long way with me and makes up for a lot. The menu is huge (even borderline overwhelming) so you should find your favorite or be able to venture out a bit. I always look for a truly authentic dish when I go out for Mexican but always feel like everything has been "Americanized" Maybe it's just me... Having said that, most of it seems to be about average for what you could get anywhere, the exception being the Mexican style tacos. The tacos al pastor seem to be the people's choice, but I found others I like better. Unless I'm mistaken, the re-fried beans are the real deal, not canned, which tells me someone in the kitchen cares :).

This place has friendly staff and good food. I'd love to see a few more vegetarian options, and the place could use some bigger tables, but all in all I'm a fan. The roasted poblano cheese dip is a must-try. It is so delicious. The trio of salsas they serve with chips are also really great. The brown one especially is amazing. The sweet tea is good too. I really enjoyed my enchilada and chalupa, and I love that they offer red or green sauces with everything. I asked for red this time as the server recommended it especially, but I'll try the green one next time.

No doubt that this is one of the best Mexican food restaurants in Athens. The food is plentiful and delicious. The prices are perfect for starving artists or starving college students. The service is great. There is plenty of alcohol on the menu. You can even sit outside and watch foreign football (soccer) games inside. At night this place can get a little busy on weeknights, but if you manage to get there early or even at lunch I am sure you will have a good experience.

  • Taylor K.

The "I've experienced better" rating says it all. I've been to the Agua Linda restaurant on Timothy Rd. several times and the food has always been decent. Recently I went to the restaurant on Prince and it was a slightly different story. It took the waitress 45 minutes (compared to the15-20 min wait at Timothy Rd location) to bring out our food, and it was cold. Out of all of the Mexican restaurants in Athens this place definitely wouldn't top my list.

Best mexican in athens. Authentic and inexpensive. Everything on this menu is great except perhaps their Chile Relleno. Try a guava milkshare, they are awesome.

I've only been here once and it was enough for me. I did not enjoy even a simple quesadilla at this restaurant. My experience was loud and the tables were cramped and I didn't enjoy the food. Even the chips and salsa were less than mediocre. If you want an amazing mexican meal for cheap visit Taqueria La Parrilla down the street.

    (2)
  • Carter C.

Not impressed. I ordered a fajita salad and got something that looked more like runny bean soup with some steak and a smattering of lettuce strips. I ended up eating it like a dip instead of like a salad. I will not be venturing back. Las Conchitas next door is much better.

    (2)
  • Topher B.

Super Mexicano grub, but I second Kristin B's comments on the new menu and higher prices. Nonetheless, I still love their veggie burrito. Ask for their mole sauce on top instead of the red or green, and you will soon be seeing God. Tasty margaritas too.

This is a good Mexican restaurant, and perhaps even the best in town. Unlike most of my peers, however, I'm reluctant to sing its praises all over the place. It's really not that outstanding in my humble opinion. The wonderful things about it? The service is great, the drinks are continuously filled and affordable, and there's a nice outdoor patio for when the weather's seasonable. True, the patio's sort of in the parking lot, but they disguise that a little and it's set back from Prince Ave. enough so you can ignore the road. The tortas (sandwiches with meat, mayonnaise, lettuce, tomato, and perhaps some other hint of je ne sais quoi) are deliciosos. I recommend the steak milanesa torta. After you eat half of one, it gets a little hard to take, however. The combination dinners are good, but not particularly amazing compared to other Mexican restaurants of the same ilk. Burritos, enchiladas, chalupas, quesadillas....You get the idea. They're good, cheesy, and well-made. The bean and cheese dip is yummy. (Plain cheese dip, or cheese with jalapenos for the daring folks, is hard to pass up!) When I drive or walk home from Agua Linda, the food begins to settle noticeably in my stomach. My stomach is not happy with me; I am not happy with my stomach. Perhaps the unavoidable Mexican Food Stomachache would feel more worth it if Athens had an INCREDIBLE restaurant where I could gorge myself to the point of sickness. (Ew--I just grossed myself out.) But to fill up only to feel gross? I'm being too harsh. This I know. If you're to believe the rest of the Athens population, A.L. deserves five stars. So don't listen to this old grouch. Follow the masses and try A.L. But if I'm right, give me some credit. Tee hee. Love from Grumpy Gus.

This Mexican restaurant does not live up to all the hype. I've only been here for dinner and it has always been kinda busy. The first time I had their barbaoca burrito, which was ok. Personally I think the tex-mex burritos from frontera or on the border are better than here. The second time I had their carne asada tacos which was basically a tortilla with salted steak.... and nothing else. Their chips and salsa were just like any other Mexican restaurant and nothing distinct about them. The service was fair, and if you wanted anything then you would have to flag down the waiters to get a refill or any additions. Agua Linda does have different drink specials for each day of the week, like beer and margarita in glasses and pitchers, which is always a good thing!

My boyfriend loves Mexican so we eat here pretty frequently. There's nothing super about it. Pretty much your run-of-the-mill Mexican food. They do have great beer pitcher prices and decent service. They'll make you a michelada (not on the menu) if you request it.

Not impressed. I ordered a fajita salad and got something that looked more like runny bean soup with some steak and a smattering of lettuce strips. I ended up eating it like a dip instead of like a salad. I will not be venturing back. Las Conchitas next door is much better.

Super Mexicano grub, but I second Kristin B's comments on the new menu and higher prices. Nonetheless, I still love their veggie burrito. Ask for their mole sauce on top instead of the red or green, and you will soon be seeing God. Tasty margaritas too.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
