The only Chinese place we go. We dine in, carry out and get delivery. Fastest delivery around. Ever. We are next door:) and there are other tasty spots in our Windward area that we've patronized but I wouldn't say they are necessarily better. We've always come back to Chin Chin Windward. Lunch specials you cannot beat. Staff and owners are always courteous and professional. We love everything from poultry to seafood to beef. I don't think we've ever had a bad experience.

Just okay!! Very bland! ordered broccoli & chicken, sauce was very thin. Chicken was more like shredded than chicken chunks, spring rolls weren't crunchy they were soggy paid an extra .50 for the crunchy noodles they were stale, no utensils or napkins in the bag. Not going back.

This palace stinks. I ate here once and wanted to pike through the entire meal. Thought maybe it would be different this time, but sadly no. Still smells

The best-tasting Chinese I've found in the area. I usually get either the Hunan Chicken, Chicken & Broccoli, Shrimp fried rice, or Beef Lo Mein. Hate that they charge so much if you want fried rice (instead of white rice) & I wish that an egg roll came with the meal (it does during lunch, but not after lunch). The food is always fresh & is ready fast.

Went into Chin Chin for my birthday lunch last week. I'm sorry to say that it was definitely not by my choice, but sometimes we do what we can to make other family members happy. I was bummed to see that they don't offer steamed dishes on their lunch menu. I ordered the shrimp and mixed vegetable lunch steamed. It came out sauteed with sauce on the side, but was quickly remedied. I won't say it was fantastic though - the shrimp were so overcooked that they were mush! Lunches come with your choice of soup & egg roll or crab rangoon. I chose egg drop soup, which was so thick it might as well have been a stew. It was also far too salty. I took 2 bites and left it alone. Needless to say, my birthday lunch won't be spent there again. I will say my family seemed pleased with their choices - wonton soup was fine. Grandmother liked shrimp & lobster sauce and other dishes (General Tso's chicken and Shrimp with Veg as normally served) were well-liked. I'll stick with Asian Table or the Chin Chin in Dawsonville when I get a hankering for chinese.

This place has gone down hill. I used to eat here about once a week. I stooped in, excited to be back at a chin chin. I took my usual seat at the bar. Ordered the general Tao chicken. Ahhh... The soup. I remembered how good the hot and sour soup was. Main course arrives..... The rice was good.... And the egg roll too. The chicken was "stringy" and weird. Not like what I was used too! I was so disappointed. I literally had 2 bites of everything an asked for my check. The server looked perplexed when I told him I did not want to take it home. My exact words were... " this is horrible and completely inedible.". The cashier lady heard and saw everything. I kind of expected a .... "you didn't eat it, we won't charge you" kind of response, however, I simply paid my check and walked out the doors of chin chin forever.......

I have gotten take out here a couple times, and probably won't go back because I'm pretty sure they use a lot of MSG. I have tried several entrees here, and always get an MSG type reaction. Numerous restaurants use MSG, not just Asian cuisine as we once thought. I can usually tell when I've eaten it, or had a large quantity because I puff up like the Michelin man.In general, the entrees I have tried here taste okay, not great.

I've been trying to find a new place in GA that has good Chinese food. This is by far not that one. Getting food from here was a complete waste of money. The food was just bad. My wife and I were really in the mood for Chinese food and we were completely unhappy after eating the food. First time we did not have Chinese left overs... I'm sure the garbage can enjoyed it though.

Never, ever again. Ever. Service was TERRIBLE. I went for lunch. I ordered chicken meat balls, shrimp with lobster sauce and that came with soup and crab rangoon. I ordered wonton soup for my choice of soup. When she delivered it to me, she tried to give me hot and sour. I said no, that I had ordered wonton. She argued with me that I hadn't and then she reluctantly gave me wonton soup that was on her tray that I presume was destined for another table. The look she gave me when I insisted was priceless and everyone at the table commented that they couldn't believe she looked at me like that. Then, they delivered the appetizers. The server tried to give me chicken on a stick. I said no, that I had ordered the chicken meatballs. She walked off confused. It took about 10 minutes for them to make my meatballs. Meanwhile, we watched several tables that showed up way after we did get served. The chicken meatballs were different but good. I couldn't tell if they were made onsite or frozen. But it was chopped up chicken and veggies and chunks of garlic and ginger formed in a ball and deep fried. Very different and it was good. They brought our food out (party of 4) but not all at the same time. One person had to wait another five minutes for sesame chicken. On to the shrimp with lobster sauce. They don't de-vein their shrimp!! HOW GROSS IS THAT??? Who wants to eat shrimp poo? Really?!? That's cooking standard 101. Additionally, they couldn't seem to be bothered with refilling our sodas. I will never, ever eat here again. I'd rather eat McDonalds.

I was thoroughly unimpressed with this restaurant. I ordered the sesame chicken lunch special with a crab rangoon and fried rice. The sesame chicken was nothing special. It wasn't exactly bad - it just wasn't very good. The crab rangoon was mostly dough, with very little filling, and was a complete disappointment. I don't think I will be ordering lunch from here again. There's not much more I can say, really. The food was unmemorable for the most part, and there are better restaurants by my house.

Eh. Standard Chinese (Americanized) fare. In Alpharetta on business - wanted something close to the hotel, so chose Chin Chin. Ordered the vegetable fried rice and pan-fried veggie dumplings. The dumplings were only seared on one side - This wouldn't have been so bad if the dumplings were fully cooked, but they weren't, so the wrappers were exceptionally chewy and mushy - no bueno. The veggie fried rice on the other hand was good - not exceptional, but good. When I'm back in town, feeling lazy and craving veggie fried rice, will return. 2 1/2 stars if I could.

They wouldn't seat a party of one, even though they had two-top tables available. Told me to wait and started seating others who arrived after me. I guess I won't be eating there by myself. I won't be eating there with co-workers either.

After writing another review today an mentioning Sizzling Rice Soup, I decided I wanted that for lunch (in Alpahretta) and a search led me to Chin Chin. I've been to other locations before, but not this one. So I headed over there to check it out. I ordered the large bowl of sizzling rice soup. It had chicken and whole mushrooms in it, along with some other veggies. It was good, but not great. Good enough that I enjoyed it. I also had an order of crab rangoon. They were pretty standard. So, not a bad lunch, but nothing to really brag about. If you're looking for stand Chinese fare, check it out. I'd go back for the soup when I'm in the mood for it.

Not bad chinese especially for the lunch price. Small place but they run this place like a well oiled machine. Prompt service and fast delivery of food. Try the mongolian beef, the beef has a straight off the grill flavor. Stay away from the meat eggrolls, they have an odd taste to them; opt for the non meat version instead. Would give 3.5 stars but closer to 3 since that isnt an option.

Quick option for Chinese lunch on a work-day, but not a place I would recommend compared to other Chinese places within a few miles. Service is quick, food is more stereotypical than authentic.

Not totally horrible but not good either. It's the closest Chinese joint to my house and I've tried several times. Just. Can't. Like. It. Low quality proteins and everything tastes like MSG and sugar. And I dig MSG!

This is your average Chinese restaurant. The reason why they get at least 3 stars is because they're in Alpharetta, GA. Being in a town not known for their Chinese immigrant population, this place was decent and the food was good. Coming from San Francisco, I tend to be a snob with my Chinese food so I was happy to see that this place satisfied my craving for Chinese while on my business trip in Georgia. Service was average and the food was also average. Prices were great (at least in comparison to places in SF....haha). I would recommend this place and probably come back if I were in town again.

I've been visiting Chin Chin for about 6 years now, usually at lunch since their lunch menu is pretty reasonable. Mylast 2-3 lunch visits have not been that great. I usually order the kung pao chicken lunch. The soup is good, the rice is good, but the chicken has been below average. During my last visit I did not get a single decent piece of chicken. All pieces looked to be dark meat and were connected in large clumps. Like the reviewer below says, the chicken resembles the kind you get at the food court. More than likely I will not be visiting Chin Chin again. I'd rather pay an extra $2 to eat a solid lunch at PF Changs.

There is a reason why this place is dead at lunch hour while all the other restaurants are packed. Food poisoning sucks, but it sucks more when it hits you while you are working at your office far away from the comforts of your own home. Please be aware that you may not want to eat here after reading this review or you may lose your appetite altogether. I had two bites of my sweet and sour soup before deciding it wasn't going to get any better and potentially could get far worse if I continued to eat it. I say bites because the soup was so thick it was gelatinous. Disgusting. The steamed chicken (not the soup) was most likely the culprit of my late afternoon prayer session to the porcelain god. Well no, that's a lie because I was on the porcelain god while I yacked in a wastebasket wondering how the hell I could make it home without crapping my pantaloons or causing a car accident when I upchuck. I spent the remainder of the afternoon contemplating laying down in the bathroom stall between bouts of purging and the other half lying on a hard conference room floor wondering what I had done recently to throw the karmic world out of kilter. Surely, I had to have done something horrible to have this happen to me and at my office no less. About the time I had resigned to sleeping in the conference room for the night my coworker came to check on me and offered to drive me up the road to Kaiser's facility and see if they could check me out quickly before they closed at 6pm. Nurse Robin and Representative Cassandra were awesome for squeezing me in very late even though it was time for them to leave. They saved us a trip to GlenLake which I wouldn't have been able to make without using my purse as a vomit bag and my coworkers seat as a toilet. I had a slight fever of 99.5 with chills, I had lost all my lunch by this time and I was feeling less pukey since I seemed to have expunged it all, I was badly dehydrated but had a killer headache from lack of water. After all my vitals were checked, they briefed me on my care, then sent me on my way with a bag of suppositories and a smile. There is no question that what I ate made me sick. The last thing I had to eat before Chin Chin was dinner the night before. I ate Chin Chin at noon and by 3:00 was a passenger on the train to regret. Do yourself a favor and don't eat here. I realize the potential negative impact of my review and after weighing my facts, my doctor's visit and the current crappy (no-pun intended) reviews I've decided to post.

Walked in @ 4pm, it was so dead the hostess was laying down in a booth when we entered. For and appetizer we had the crab Rangoon. Four come in an order, creamy filling with a crunchy exterior, very tasty. I had the sesame chicken, it was okay, not the best. Most of the chicken was dark pieces, and instead of crunchy it was chewy. The sauce was thick and at times had a ginger taste to it. Perhaps it was the time of the day, but it was not the best I've tasted. My friend had the lemon chicken, I sampled it and the chicken was in a different batter and better than mine. The lemon sauce could have been better, it only had a faint lemon flavor. The meals were okay, and edible. Just not the best I've had before. I wanted to give a 'three' star rating, even if based on the appetizer, but I'm going to give 'two' based on the main courses. Dinner menu is $9.25 and up.

This place is not known for its elegance but for the food quality and the service. The service staff is professional and attentive. It's a great place for a busy professional who wants a decent meal at an affordable price. It's no secret why it's always busy during lunch.

A slightly hip local Chinese chain, a bit like a mom and pop P.F. Changs... only the food's GOOD! I used to work in the area, and I ate there at least once a week for a full year and was never disappointed. The curry rolls are good, and although some dishes seem pricey (the Black Pepper Delicacy is $15.95, for example) it's worth it, trust me. I was also partial to the Pineapple Young Ginger with Beef as well.

This place isnt bad. I have tried all the delivery chinese places within my area and this one is consistently good. Their potstickers are better than the frozen ones from Simon's and the icky icky ones from Lee's which is also another darling on here. The soup here is decent-- I get the wontons and thankfully they dont use that thick gross pastry like most others (Simon's included) and there is usually MEAT in there, which it should be. Their Sesame chicken is my boyfriend's favorite and I am all about their tofu w/ veggies and I ask them to add chicken -- basically create my own dish. Their lo mein is decent as well, but I do wish that they had some great noodle dishes.

I was so disappointed in the service and the food at the Chin Chin on Windward Pkwy that I am writing my first ever review. I ordered the special which was Vegetable Masaman Curry. I asked the waiter how it was served and he said with "mixed vegetables," I added tofu. It arrived at my table and consisted of frozen french fries, yes you heard correctly, frozen french fries, a few onions and a few snow peas and the tofu. I waited for the waiter to come back and when he finally did I explained that I was not happy that there were not more vegetables and that it actually contained frozen crinkle fries. He told me to wait for the lady at the counter. I finally went up and explained the situation to her and she was very hateful and defended the frozen fries and the lack of vegetables. Wow, I was pretty shocked. Anyway, they took my food away but still wanted to charge 2.50 for the tiny bowl of egg drop soup they brought out before the meal was served. My husband, who was a long term customer, explained the situation to her but she said she had to charge for the soup. He explained that this would loose him as a customer. She dropped the price of the soup to $1.00. I guess the value of a long time customer is $1.00. Neither of us will be eating there again.

First off let me say that all Chin Chins are not created equally. This one is far better than the other 2 I've been to. The presentation, the place didn't smell like mildew as some other yelpsr said, and dinner portions were really good. My experience tonight made thisy #1 Chinese spot! Best Chinese food ever. Now theservice was ok. The waiters kindness seemed forced but he got the job done. Kung Pao Chicken had I light crisp on it and the shrimp lo mein was a tad too greasy but the quality of the veggies made up for it. 5 stars. . . Make that 6 starts since yoforia is a few doors down! Double yum!!

All food flavor is the same, which means all strong MSG flavor, and soy sauce. For their egg drop soup, just OK, but they always give me Non-crispy noodles to add in when I take out. soft noodle make me feel disgusting! I was fooled so many times, and don't want to be fooled again! What's special? None. I would rather to choose Mos next to it.

Didnt want to leave my hotel room, so thought Id order in some greasy chinese. Thats pretty much what I got. Not a bad thing at all, not great either. The pork ribs I'd probably skip, werent my favorite. They were swimming in grease and pretty tiny. But, the Mongolian beef was good with steamed rice, would be too heavy with fried rice. The hot and sour soup was great. Nice big mushrooms in it and the tofu was good. All in all, pretty good experience. The lady was nice taking my order and the delivery guy was fast and polite. With Chinese places, its probably better if you don't see where it's made or what goes in it. Kind of like hot dogs.

Don't understand the low reviews. Have eaten here 4 times and every time it was very good. Love the Spicy Basil Chicken. Service is very quick. Took my team here for lunch and they all enjoyed it.

  • Tracy W.

The food is mediocre - there are much better quality Chinese restaurants in the area. The service is poor. Most of the time you get the feeling they really don't care whether you're there or not (like if you're not happy, they don't care cause they'll just wait for the next customer to show up instead). After 3 lousy experiences here in a row, I think I am officially giving up on this place and taking my lunch money elsewhere.

Low side of average. Was great in years past but has declined of late. Last trip had shrimp curry. Good flavor but they used French fries for potatoes.

The service is getting a lot worse there. They brought my drink at the end of the meal so they could still charge me for it. Lame.

Had dinner there last Thursday night. Place was dead. One table finished and leaving as we arrived about 7:45pm. My girl friend started with wonton soup and I had hot and sour soup. Both less than memorable. We split an order of egg rolls, at least they were hot. We then split an order of Hunan Chicken. Plenty of the entree to split, a very small bowl of rice and that was it. Most Hunan dishes I have had in the past were much more flavorful and spicy. This dish was not, almost bland. Disappointing to say the least. Won't be going back.

Chin Chin The sweet and sour chicken at Chin Chin in Alpharetta is the best ever. Deep battered, fried and immersed in an apricot sauce with strawberries, grapes and apricots, you have to try it. At Chin Chin you get soup, spring rolls or crab rangoon and either white or fried steamed rice with your meal. Drinks are available, there sweet tea because it's brewed to sheer perfection. Chin Chin has 11 locations in the metro area and they've been rated best of Atlanta several times for a reason. Despite how busy the restaurant gets at lunchtime you can get in and out in forty five minutes. Another wondrous bonus is the Asian themed decor and the circular booths perfect for large parties. Jump on the bandwagon and give them a try by dining in or taking out. Hands down this is the best Chinese food I've ever had. For all locations, visit them on-line at chinchinonline.com . FYI: The Chin Chin on Hammond Drive in Sandy Springs is not affiliated with the other 11 locations. I was crushed when I ordered the sweet and sour chicken only to find it was completely different.

I think this place gets its name from what you would get after eating here often, a double chin. Ha! This place is decent if you're in a pinch for time and can't drive down to Lin's. The quality of the food lacks other joints in town. The chicken resembles the funky chicken you might find in the mall food court. I do like the fried crab and cream cheese things they give you with your lunch. It can sometimes get a little cramped in there at lunch, but so is the case for a lot of the restaurants in this double-decker mall. But overall, Chin Chin falls pretty far behind Lin's and Simon's for the best Chinese in Alpharetta. Update 7 Apr 2008 - YUCK. This place is going downhill. Inside smells like mildew and the chicken dishes were on par with mall food court Chinese. The wait staff were super friendly though. Nevertheless, I'm bumping my rating from 3 to 2 stars.

Ordered take out for delivery, as I was staying at a nearby hotel. The food was kinda bland, and it was probabably because I went with the Chef Special Scallops. On the up-side, I liked the soft shell crab appetizers. Service wise, the lady on the phone was nice and polite, and the delivery was relatively painless. I would rate the food as a so-so, considering the price point.

  • Dave G.

I went there for lunch based upon all of these great reviews. I gotta say - I don't get it. It's a decent chinese place, but not great. For instance, the won ton soup had one tiny won ton, and the portions were small (even for lunch). Try Rasa off of Exhibit 7 on 400. That's a much better value for the money.

  • Erica H.

I have been looking for great Chinese since relocating here from Maryland. The food was amazing, the service was fast and friendly, and the lunch price points were perfect. I will definitely be back very soon with my family for dinner. I had the Sesame Chicken, Crab Ragoons, Wonton soup and fried rice... all were delish!!

    (5)
  • Tim D.

I prefer white meat chicken in my 'pieces' dinners. The Sesame Chicken was dark meat, with a good bit of fat and gristle. We also got Beef and Broccoli - that was much better than the chicken. Because I can walk here from work, I'll dine here again, but will avoid the chicken.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
