The food here is excellent. The service can be slow at times on a crowded evening but the food makes up for it. The burgers are the best around and in addition to their herbed fries they have some great, healthy-ish alternatives. The milk shakes are solid as well. The fries don't travel that well when you get take-out but that's always the case. I'm not sure where all these negative reviews are coming from to be honest.

The meat is good. The fries are kinda soggy. The fact they have beer is good. Just a burger nothing special. Wait servers and order takers very friendly. The bathrooms are dirty. The trash can by cashier over flowing with trash. Not good

Just tried this place and it was pretty good. Definitely better than what the ratings indicate. My fave was the southwestern, enjoy!

Firstly, let me just say that I was VERY excited to try Bocado. I'd been wanting it for years, but you know sometimes it's just HARD to get into Atlanta. So a northside location was just what I'd been dreaming of...So I thought. When you go to the Avalon.com site and choose "Boca Burger Bar," you're thinking it's JUST LIKE the original, menu and all, just an added location. This would be incorrect. I went with two friends as part of a planned ladies' night, exciting to eat, drink and be merry. Upon walking into Boca Burger Bar, it's not very clear which way to go or exactly what to do. To the left is the bar (nuff said) and the right has two kiosks a ways in. There's no podium or sign explaining how the whole thing works, so you basically stand there like a contestant on the bachelor, waiting to be acknowledged. Once we WERE acknowledged, I asked how everything worked and had it kind of explained to me. My friends placed their orders and when they asked about some burgers, the girl said "I don't know anything about it, but I bet it's good." Not a great selling point. As I was placing my order at the cashier, my friend's drink order came up. We hadn't yet sat down; the server was not concerned that we were still standing and handed my friend her drink until I finished paying. We then sat down, and the orders started coming up. The wrong orders. One friend got a turkey burger with tons of stuff, they brought her a veggie burger with nothing. Then they brought her a beef burger with nothing. I got a bocado stack with cheddar instead of american, they brought me a plain burger with nothing on it. Then they brought a burger with just the cheese and nothing else that came with it. Now on to the food. The turkey burgers (with pork fat) were just all right. My burger was pretty good. I was left unimpressed by the bun, but the meat was yummy. The fries were soggy and left much to be desired. I got the garlic mayo and LOVED that. The draft coke was not great, either. Nor was the "Bocado cooler" I got, a gin-based drink that promised more than it delivered. We went to my friend's house and made the same drink MUCH better. Overall, Boca Burger Bar was underwhelming and just made me want to visit Bocado Burger all the more.

This restaurant was very good, we went during there soft open and only had access to limited menu items however the food was delicious and service was great. We had a turkey burger and the BLT burger with the herb fries. You could tell the food was very fresh!!We loved the atmosphere!!! only reason why I did not give it a 5 star rating was because they really need heaters outside, which I am sure they will get. Great food, great service! We will be back!

The burger was just okay. The herb fries were okay. $32 for two burgers, two fries, one iced tea and one water.....NOT okay.

Long hair in my husband's burger. When that happens, a manager should apologize and say things to make sure you come back or try to prevent you from writing bad reviews on Yelp. That did not happen obviously. We just left there and the herb fries were good. The burger was tasty but bread was a little dry. The side salad that is $3 extra was so small (like 3 bites). My son loved the atmosphere and running in the green space. However, back to my first sentence: long hair in the burger... Not good. We eat out a lot and I barely ever have time to write reviews. I'm taking time to do this and say we are not coming back.

It was okay but not a good value. They have peroni on tap but not bud or lite. Peroni is gross. No Jekyll or really local beers. One sweet water I think. Got the stack- the house burger and sweet potato fries, hubby got the BLT. We each had a coke and it was $30. Won't be back, too many other places to eat.

Yummy!!! The Southwest Burger is absolutely delicious!! The herbed fries are also wonderful. The only reason I didn't give five stars was due to the weird service. You order from a counter but a server refills your drinks and brings the bill. I'd prefer one or the other...counter service or full service. Absolutely loved the food though!

  • Steve J.

Pretty good burgers, but frys fell short. U have to order at the counter. Kinda small spot, very open feel. Agree w other post - kinda pricey for fast-casual food.

First thought: why does this place only have 3 stars? this place has quickly become my favorite burger place ever! my boyfriend and I have been here 5 times in the past 7 days... it's just THAT good.

Southwest burger (two patties, cheese, avocado, roasted poblano, spicy mayo) is fantastic along with sweet potato fries.

  • Melissa M.

I really wanted to like the burgers. But so many other places hit the mark a tad bit better. They were alright, but nothing stood out. My bread was slightly stale, and it just tastes semi bland. They also cook all their burgers medium well which was kind of a bummer. Haven't decided weather I'll go back or not.

  • Steve W.

Love the menu and the food. The service is terrible. The concept is just a bad idea with the way the food and drink are brought out. Don't waste your time or money. Very very poor management.

Agree with so many of the other reviews I read about his place - they definitely have some kinks to iron out. We walked in on a Saturday afternoon around 3 - stood in the long line to order, and the line never seemed to move. Bar was packed but kept a close eye to see if any seats opened up. Finally after about 15 minutes standing in line, some seats at the bar became available and so we ate there instead. I like how the bar is isolated from the rest of the dining area, but it's location within the restaurant also seems to be a bit of an afterthought, with the actual bar counter extending past the wall behind with all the liquor and glassware. Burger was pretty good along with the herb fries but I have to say the sweet potato fries were pretty awesome. Not sure if I loved them enough to go back to this place. There are other restaurants in the Avalon I think I'd rather dine at on a more regular basis than this place.

Not as much food as other burger places. Not many choices either. Food was good but not worth the $$

  • Donna L.

Loud loud loud !!!!!!! Atmosphere stinks. Like going to a teen hangout. I'm glad I don't live at Avalon I'd have to drive far away to go to a nice restaurant. Food was ok but bun was cold and burger was nothing to write home about. Service was horrible they didn't even wipe our table clean.

Horrible service. Would not recommend this place based on our poor service. They won't last long given their management practices.

  • Alicia V.

Sat at the bar. Our waitress / bartender was sweet but right away said " I'm new and don't know the menu". Ok , really? Ordered a bottled beer was told they don't have that brand ... Wait, another waitress said yes we do... Ordered two burgers... Was told they can only cook medium well to well done... Well then why advertise your awesome beef and burgers you cook the crap out of them til they are grey and dry? There were filthy plates with old food piled up on the bar the whole time we were there. Super nasty Just such hype- food and service not even ok.... The fruit salad was so covered in cumin it smelled like an old shoe. I sent it back, no one cared or commented Won't return , we are not all Okies otp who don't know anything about good food or service

Simply tasteless. Staff not friendly. Will not go back to that place even if food is free.

  • Ben G.

This place has the strangest hours. I've been there twice now and both times it has been closed! What hamburger joint is closed at 3 pm in the afternoon? Not everyone eats regular lunch and dinner hours people. When I did finally get to eat I found the burger to be very good, but very expensive. They seem to think they are something very special with high prices and very strange hours of operation. Worth trying if you time it perfectly and they are actually open for business when you arrive.

    (3)
  • Ryan B.

Way overpriced. My BLT burger was $11 - a Coke is $2.75 (tax included). I understand grassfed beef costs more than cornfed but these prices are ridiculous.

    (1)
  • Annalee S.

I will say that standing in line can be annoying, but the food was worth the wait!!! The BLT burger was absolutely one of the best I have ever had and it was on a gluten free bun!!!!! I asked my server why the price of our lunch was so high in which he explained that while they are elevating fast casual but they are trying to keep the high class food the same. I will definitely be returning for dinner or lunch on occasion. The herb fries are simply addictive! I can't wait until summer when the glass garage doors will be open and the place will transform into a family friendly hang out.

    (4)
  • Carrie R.

Way over priced. Food okay, nothing special. Service is not good. Drinks come out with food and don't expect a refill. I will not go back.

  • Kim D.

Do. Not. Go. From the second we walked in we got the vibe that no one was excited to be there, and that the staff just didn't give a hoot about much of anything. I did not understand their ordering system....order at the counter but then table service where you have to leave a tip....doesn't make sense. Our server was sweet but clueless. Now, the bill.....Our bill for three burgers w/ fries and 3 sodas was $63. That is just outrageous (then add a tip on top of that). The burgers are just nothing special. Every topping is add on of at least $1.50. Fries are extra. My sweet potato fries were way over-cooked and there were not that many in the order. The regular fries were really not impressive. Soda machine was low on syrup and iced tea was out and they did not have any made. There were mosquitos in the restaurant which was really annoying. The line cooks were dressed in greasy t-shirts and had straggly hair and no covering at one point. Just did not look professional, especially in an open kitchen. I am not impressed to see slobs making my food. We ordered banana pudding. In the South you better know how to make banana pudding or forget it. Well, putting vanilla "Snack Pack" pudding with chunks of frozen banana and a stale Nilla Wafer does not cut it. The only saving grace was the manager, Gabriella. She is too good to be working in a dive like this. She spent a great amount of time at our table and listened to all of our concerns and really didn't make any excuses and acknowledged that they had work to do. Hopefully she will wise up and get a job at a better restaurant that can appreciate her professionalism. With all of the options for burgers in Roswell and Alpharetta, this place is no competition. We have no plans on returning.

  • J M.

Bad service. Didn't get a smile from anyone of the staff. Had to ask for one of our drinks several times. No one cared to bus the table until despite it being slow. Bathrooms were dirty and had no toilet paper. Unless this place steps up their service, they're going to bomb with the high maintenance Alpharetta crowd. They've already made a mistake with their counter service concept.

We were excited to try this place and went on a Sunday afternoon. You order at a counter and then sit yourself with a table number. You have a waitress that attempts to give you a full service experience minus the order at the counter but really falls short. While you wait for quite a bit of time for an easy short order menu...she greets you and asks to get your drink which is odd since they have a walk up serve yourself drink station. Our food arrived warm and delicious. My husband had the chicken sandwich and it was incredible. A small ramekin of ketchup comes with your meal. When our server approached 10 minutes into eating we asked for more ketchup. The only problem is we were finishing our last bites when she arrived with the extra ketchup. No napkins were ever delivered as well, so we got up and once again got them ourselves. The concept of this restaurant is really not working. My advice is when the server greets you bring the napkins from the start. If you haven't already gotten your own drinks then allow her to graciously complete this. Put ketchup on the tables with salt so no one has to wait till their last bite to get the request. Otherwise, go without a server and just hire staff to keep the place clean(bathrooms were atrocious) and tables turning. Not sure if we will return!

Went with a group from work today and was very disappointed. The 4 guys I was with ordered burgers and I ordered the grilled cheese. Who doesn't love a good grilled cheese sandwich? Well, it was not good! They use very thick bread, so there is way more bread than there is cheese. They also used white cheese instead of yellow and it had no flavor whatsoever. I've never been tempted to put salt on a grilled cheese sandwich before, but I almost did it today just to get some flavor. It was served with tomato "bisque" which just tasted like tomato sauce and I only had 2 bites. The guys said their burgers were "ok", not the best they've had but not the worst. My boss said his burger was very greasy and you could see the grease left behind on the paper when he was done. He did say that the gluten-free bun was good. The fries were nothing special. For the prices you pay here, the food should be much better. If you want a really good burger, go to The Counter in Roswell instead.

  • Joanne Meegan F.

Not so much! Pricey for greasy burgers that can only be prepared medium-well. Wilted hydroponic lettuce on top. Crisp, chilled iceberg would have been a better choice. Wine prices were ridiculous...$10 for a 4 oz pour of mediocre white wine (Pinot gr)! No desire to go back!

OVERPRICED! Tonight my wife and I had our first dining experience at Bocado Burger Bar in the new Avalon complex. While the burger was tasty, it was way overpriced. I had the BLT Burger which is essentially a Bacon Double Cheese Burger with lettuce and tomato. It very much reminded me of an In and Out Burger or a 5 Guys Burger. The burger a la carte was over $10. Now, what really frustrated me was that on the printed menu, drinks and prices are not listed. Imagine our shock when we found out that the glass of iced tea we ordered was $3.50. Consider, 2 glasses of simple iced tea was $7.00. OMG. Since the price was not on the menu, we felt deceived. Bottom-line, there are other great burgers in the area at much more reasonable prices.

My best friend and I drove 40 minutes to come to this place and we were not dissapointed. The place is clean, service was fast and the staff was nice. We got the standard 'bocado burger' and it was JUST what we wanted. We will be back soon! :)

Went there the Sat. after Christmas for lunch. We were a party of 14 and the manager went over and above to accommodate us on a busy day. The line to order was long, but worth the wait. We will definitely go back! Thank you to a well trained friendly staff!

Went for lunch on Valentine's Day. It was busy, but the staff was working hard and it was very manageable. We lucked into a couple of seats at the bar and spent our time reviewing options. I actually had the fried chicken sandwich and was pleasantly surprised. The slaw and sauce were tremendous and the bun was perfect. My husband had a burger with pimento cheese and it was amazing. Without the cheese my not have been as special but the combination was awesome. Loved the laid back bartender who seemed to have just the right timing. This will definitely be a go to spot for lunch.

I will preface this by saying that aside from portion size, these burgers are really, really good. I'm giving 2 stars based solely on the size and price. My friend and I dined here last night. He had the Bocado Burger Stack and I had the turkey burger. He chose herb fries while I chose regular - with water $25. I wasn't too concerned about price until I saw the burger that was presented. With burgers, SIZE MATTERS - at least to me. This is a gourmet burger so don't expect a messy mouth. We had our burgers for about 2-3 minutes before the fries arrived. Tisk tisk. The ranch dressing which i'm certain is made in-house is wonderful. It's tops the ketchup as a french fry dipping sauce. Ask for 2 because you'll truly want more after you taste the first bite. The staff was really great as well. This place has lots of potential especially when the weather warms. Just please give us a hubcap burger. LOL!

    (2)
  • Darren D.

Not impressed. The only reason it gets a 2 star is for the great service offered at the bar. We sat at the bar because when we arrived there was only 5 people in front of us. After 5 minutes we had not moved and the people ordering when we arrived were still ordering. The food arrived and my burger was in pieces...was told it would be cooked medium and it was well. It was ok nothing fancy. The cost of the burger didn't even include the side of fries. Very overpriced. We'll just go right up the hill and get a bison burger. The line of people when we're leaving was incredibly long...not worth the wait. I felt sorry for them. Great concept poor execution.

Really expensive for what they offer. Nothing spectacular except for the price

  • Beth B.

Pretty good, but not great. I LOVE a good burger and with all the choices in Alpharetta, it better be pretty fantastic. This was....not. It was very good...the meat was juicy and the cheese was...cheesy, but the fries were just okay. The Brussels sprouts were good, kind of a creative sauce. Sorry to say it but I probably won't be back, just because there are too many other burgers in Alpharetta that are better and cheaper.

  • S. W.

Awesome burger...double stack dripping with sweet caramelized onion, woodsy mushrooms, and crispy prosciutto. The sides are really good too, albeit under salted. I have to always ask for S&P. I have only two complaints...it's really pricey for a burger place (one burger, one side and a glass of house wine $29+ (without tip). Second complaint.... Smallest pour of wine in the history of anywhere... I mean seriously. The mark up on wine is so huge, I think they could spare an extra ounce or two. The "small" glass wasn't even 1/3 filled. Come on guys... pour a proper drink. I'd order a second one if it didn't feel like a total rip off, so you lose in the end. All-in-all, the burger keeps me coming back....probably would have given 5 stars if it wasn't for the insulting wine pour.

  • Jason B.

Awesome restaurant! Great burgers, sides, and bar. The fried chicken sandwich and Brussels were novel and tasty! Excellent service as well! Andrew(highlight of our evening #comenthebarbarians), our server was attentive, helpful, and fun (great guy!) Definitely recommended :)

  • Willard W.

Wonderfully fresh burgers with just the right gourmet touches. H&F buns compliment the broad flavor profiles available. Lovely sides and desserts contribute to an outstanding dining experience. The kitchen can sometimes be a bit slow, but the quality shows through with the first bite. In the conversation for best burger in Atlanta...

Main reason for low review is the price of food for what you get. My husband and I got 2 burgers, 2 fries and 2 drinks and our total was $38 before tip - yes, a TIP! The restaurant service model has you stand and order your food at the register, then take a # and sit at a table while they prep and bring out your food. Your "server" checks on you and brings refills. The frustration here is that it's a "sort of" restaurant but self serve too (our 1st round drinks (tea & soda) we got ourselves at the public drink dispenser (like at any fast food/casual dining). Then to expect a tip and bring you the check like a full service restaurant is ridiculous. We should have just gone to a nice, sit down restaurant (a real restaurant) instead of spending so much for burgers at a "double dipping" lazy establishment. Order your food like at a Burger King, get your drinks from a dispenser like at a Burger King, pay $40 for 2 burgers, and then tip your "server." Never again. Food wise, the draw of fresh, local ingredients and more unique burger add in options was outweighed by cost and mediocre flavor for the $40.

Just moved back from DC and was hoping to find our go to burger place, our search hasn't ended. We tried the Dixie Stack: I figured since it was one of their specialities it would be a good reflection of their style. I did like how the bun was just slightly toasted from the pan and acquired some flavor that way but the pimento cheese was over done and took over most of the flavor of the burger. The Herb Fries: not crispy enough for my taste and the herb were more seen than tasted. My husband tried one of their whiskey cocktails which I'm not sure which one but the bitters were over done and became all you tasted. I will say the staff was very friendly since it was the end of their evening. We may be back but we'll still be looking.

Another gourmet burger joint but one that definitely doesn't set the bar for veggie burger lovers. Their veggie patty was a very flattened mix of veggies that included carrots. It is nonetheless very impressive that they make their veggie patties in house but why did it taste more like oil than a mixture of a fresh veggies? Without the bun it didn't excite me at all unlike the veggie patty at Yeah Burger and even Farm Burger (their quinoa patty is pretty dry but more flavorful). I ordered the veggie patty in a lettuce wrap, which at Bocado is code for a veggie patty on a handful of arugula. In addition, I ordered the quinoa side salad, which included avocado, cucumber, cashew lime butter, cow peas, radish and cilantro. The salad was tasty but so small (fyi, the regular salads are the size of a typical side salad). Overall, I was disappointed with Bocado because of the lack of flavor in their burger but it's so typical for a place that specializes in meat burgers. However, my party of carnivores didn't enjoy their burgers either, especially for the exceedingly high price.

Solid choice for a burger. The BLT burger was good, though could have been more flavorful. The accompanying bacon was over-done--more crumbly than chewy. Fries and grilled brussel sprout appetizer were decent. Service was quick, attentive, and friendly. Atmosphere is casual, relaxed, and family-friendly; there's both indoor and outdoor seating, with a small enclosed lawn. The restaurant is located at Avalon Mall. Overall, a good choice for a casual meal.

So. I've been here twice now and feel comfortable enough to write a review. Bocado is a nice, trendy sit-down restaurant in West Atlanta. They are consistently nominated for having one of the best burgers in Atlanta. And now we have Bocado Burger Bar, which is pretty much a burger joint. In addition to their famous Bocado Stack burger, they have a few other burger and sandwich options on the menu as well as some salads. There is also a bar with a decent selection of bottled beers and a few on tap. The restaurant is fairly big. There's a large indoor seating area as well as an outdoor area with picnic tables. During nice weather they open up the indoor seating area by rolling up a couple of big doors. I've only come for lunch. Between 11 and 1130am there really isn't much of a line. Get there at 12 and you'll be waiting about 15-20mins to order and get your food. Ordering is simple. Pick up a menu, place order at register, sit down and wait for food to come out. You can chose from several pre-made burgers or you can customize and make your own. You can also chose a veggie or turkey pattie if you're not into beef. I've had the Bocado Stack (the burger they're known for) and the Dixie Stack. The Bocado stack was a really good burger. It has two slices of american cheese, mayo, and b&b pickles. I actually think it taste better than the one at the Bocado restaurant. The Dixie Stack wasn't bad. It has a fried green tomato and pimento cheese. I wasn't completely blown away by the toppings but the burger was still well made. The french fries are amazing. I've also had an order of the sweet potato fries which are good, but don't compare to the fries. Chocolate milkshake is absolutely banging. It could be a little less thick, but it wasn't so thick where I had to eat it with a spoon; could still suck it up with a straw. They give you quite a bit. Another good option in Avalon. I'm sure I'll be coming back.

I'm not a big fan of Avalon (I find the shops to be over-priced), but a friend raved about Bocado Burger and typically I would have just smiled with no intention of checking it out myself. However, she said there's a middle area outside where the kids can play while you eat. What the what?!? Seriously? My kids can play while I eat, and it's not a fast-food place? I was intreagued and decided to check it out. I went right when they opened at 11am. It's always best to beat the crowd when you've got kids with you. You go to the register and order, I paid there and went to my seat (we picked to sit outside). I was happy to see that the menu looked awesome-- not over-priced like everything else typically is at Avalon. They've got tillamook cheese and I was immediately excited. I ordered the double stack (comes naked, so anything you want on your burger has to be told you want it). I got mayo, ketchup, mustard, lettuce, tomato, pickles, and of course, cheese. I added regular fries and a drink and my whole lunch with tip was under $15. Not only was the outside area awesome for letting my two-year-old play while I waited for our lunch, but the burger was, hands-down, THE best burger I've ever had. It was HUGE and I removed one of the two parties so I could bite into it, but the flavors all meshed together to create a taste explosion in my mouth. So. Good. I definitely recommend Bocado Burger for families with smaller kids, and I'm thrilled to know that I have a delicious place I can go with my youngster and it's not a fast food joint! The only thing I didn't like was the price of the kids meals ($6). My son doesn't eat a lot, so if you've got a tiny one that doesn't eat a lot too, you're better off bringing something from home, or having them share off your plate.

Totally underwhelmed. We went in to Bocado expecting to be blown away. After all it's in the trendy Avalon Center where a hip burger would be a great thing, right? For a better burger and a better value go to Marlowe's... For starters you can wait in line to make your order at the cash register then get cups for your drinks, fill them, then sit down. Food comes out reasonably fast, and the burgers and fries are good. But with pricing that starts at $9.29 and rockets to $11.99 - ala carte - expect a fat bill along with your fat burger. Add fries at $1.75 or a salad at $3.00 and you're touching $20 for a fast food burger experience. Ouch. Now that would be ok if the burgers were truly exceptional. They're good, not great. So for a total value experience it's only 3 stars for the new Bodado Burger at Avalon.

    (3)
  • Mew W.

It's three stars, bcc it's just burgers. It is a clean joint even restrooms (unisex). Order your burger. Fries are greasy. Think Johnny Rockets style with added specialty ingredients like cheeses, aioli, homemade sauces. Different types of burger- turkey and veggie. Staff is friendly. Very busy because quick and simple - affordable compared to the anchor restaurants. Nothing special though for us out of owner foodies.

Another forgettable overpriced "gourmet" burger garage. Ingredients were of modest quality while the flavor was weak and unguided. Portions were insultingly small at this price. Left with a sore throat after trying to talk over the cacophony of noise. Elevated gross factor when we were asked to hand the unused (unwrapped) silverware to the waitress who tossed it back into a central tray of utensils. How many times was MY silverware handled by other customers before my place setting was prepared?

Wow, I'm really shocked at the number of negative reviews for Bocado Burger. I think it's an excellent addition to the suburb restaurant scene and love that one of Atlanta's best burgers is now available OTP. Having frequented the west side location near midtown, I was excited to introduce my mom to Bocada when we planned to meet for a Sunday shopping trip to Avalon. I will agree that the whole ordering at the counter and the paying at the table process is a bit odd. It sounds like they are still trying to work through deciding what the best option is here. I was fine with ordering at the counter and being responsible for getting our own drinks. I would just recommend that you go ahead and pay at the counter. Then once you sit and your waitress introduces themselves, if they provide service that add to your experience, you would leave them a cash tip on the table. I think this would increase the customer experience as they don't feel obligated to tip 20% at the end of their meal for a half waiter experience. The restaurant was nicely decorated with a modern and open feel. We decided to eat on the covered patio since it was a nice day. Even though it was a bit hot outside, since the patio was shaded we enjoyed it. The food arrived promptly and it looked amazing. Since I have frequented the west side location and knew the portion size, we opted to split both the burger and the fries. It was a great decision because it was the perfect amount of food for lunch. We had the Bocado Burger Stack and the herb fries. Neither disappointed! Although we didn't branch out with our sides this time, it was nice to see that they have some of the non-traditional burger sides that they've pulled form their first restaurant. Next time I'll definitely be ordering the Brussels sprouts, kale or quinoa!

I love burgers. They are probably my favorite food item. If I had to choose one thing I had to eat everyday for the rest of my life and be ok with it, it would be a burger. I decided to meet a good friend at Avalon to check out the area and see what all the hoopla was about. We were there on a Sunday afternoon and decided to grab food around 5:30. Everyone told me that the lines for Bocado Burger were crazy long and to go elsewhere for food. Did I listen? No. Good thing, because this place was deserted. By deserted, I mean no one was in line. And only three tables were occupied. Maybe I hit the Bocado Burger jackpot and came at the perfect time. Who knows? This place is not the same as Bocado on the Westside. It's designed more like a Yeah Burger. You stand in line to order your food, grab a number and find a table. Someone will bring your food out to you at your table. Both of us ordered the Bocado Stack with the herb fries. The burger tasted pretty close to the burger you'd get at the other location. Same with the herb fries. The only problem we had was that, unlike the Westside location, the bottom bun fell apart as soon as we picked up our burgers. And since the patties are loosely formed, chunks of meat started breaking off too. Service was ok. Someone immediately came over to confirm our orders and brought our food to us. It took a while to get drink refills. Overall, it's probably a nice addition to the northern suburbs restaurant scene. I live closer to the Westside location so if I ever want a Bocado burger I'll head that way first.

[TL;DR] Four star burgers. Three star everything else. Dropped in on a Sunday around noon thinking it'd be busy enough for a wait. I got duped into sitting at the bar by the very nice bartender who offered no-wait seating. Turned out just fine, though a little chillier than the restaurant end. She duped others to do the same. Clever girl. So, what do you get at a place with burger in the name? Not the fried chicken sandwich. :o) We split the Fried Chicken sandwich and the Southwestern burger. Hands down, the burger was the winner. It was really quite near perfect. Unfortunately, the fried chicken sandwich brought down the happiness bar. Mind you, the chicken was fried perfectly, left moist and tender. However, there was no combination of awesomeness that resonated from the creation. The cole slaw was just completely flat. The burger, on the other hand, was done very well. The patty was loose, nearly crumbly, and seasoned perfectly. This let's the cheese melt all the way over and through the patty. Instead of lettuce and tomato, it's topped off with a poblano pepper and avocado. Crazy. My only complaint -- on the smallish side. Then again, my belly is on the largish side. ;-) Had it with an order of herb fries. We found it very difficult to find the herb. It looked like it should taste herby since it was greenish in tint, had little green leaves all over it with little specks of what appear to be spice but was totally bland to the taste. Between that and the chicken, I'm pretty sure the cook must have burnt off their taste buds on hot soup earlier in the week or something. It's also the reason this place gets three stars instead of a four. Also, here's advice to restaurants that move to the south. Offer sweet tea -- actual sweet tea. Props to the bartender Haley though. She offered some simple syrup with it. Smart.

This is a damned good burger place! I went with my husband and his family for my father in laws birthday (he likes burgers) and we were very pleasantly surprised. There are a few things of note Id like to point out. 1. Staff is still new and there are some very obvious flaws in their service. They are either overly eager or rude. Still, more overly eager/nice people so we are gonna assume this will sort itself. 2. This is similar to yeah burger, meaning you order at the counter and they bring your burger to the table. I didn't expect that for some reason so I thought I'd point it out. 3. They make an AMAZING burger. The quality of their ingredients is outstanding and so the burger is out of this world good as a basic burger. I got the stack but if you wanna over complicate your burger they have a build your own option with fancy toppings. 4. Their herb fries are tasty but very greasy! I'd stick with the sweet potato fries in the future. But if you like deep fried things smothered in more oil, or if you're the kind of person who enjoys mayo on their fries, then the flavor is good and you will likely enjoy them. Overall I would gladly go here again and it stands as one of the best burgers I've had.

Went here today with a friend to try out their burgers. The place was slammed! I mean, seating wise there were only so many available areas, and the unusually packed place made the seating even more limited. The ordering concept here is interesting as we were confused as to how things worked. So you venture in and stand in line to order at the counter. Once your order is complete, you get a number to take to where you want to sit. The food is brought out for you so no worries. There will be employees wandering around to see if you may need anything so it's sort of a half and half dine-in/self-service restaurant. I say self-service because there was an area in the middle of the main floor where I think you can grab extra items you may need (i.e. napkins or utensils). To be quite frank, I am unsure of how things work here. Well, both my friend and I were unsure. Lol! My friend's burger was delish as we decided to split our food. His burger stack was goooood. The avocados mixed in with the tender and juicy meat was flavorful. My fried chicken under the sandwich area was tasty, but I would def recommend the burger. I am saying this because I am not a red meat eater. Lol. The herb fries were pretty good, but it wasn't anything wowing. It was somewhat soggy and not very flavorful to my dismay. The color was misleading since it had the color of fried green tomatoes so it appeared as if it was packed full of goodness. Parking was a pain. I had to sort of fight for a spot, and this was around 2 PM. Was it because it was the day before Thanksgiving? Really. What gives with this many cars in the area? Granted that this place (and the general area) is fairly new, but come on...

BLT burger was good. Added an egg over easy, and the yolk was cooked just right with a little bit of runny goodness. But the bacon was too crisp almost to crumbling. They should cook it right with the burgers. They need some good, regular (non-B&B) pickles for your burger to cut thorough the richness. Brussels sprouts and Fries were nothing special - just OK. Service was attentive.

Not this best, not the worst, but pretty meh. The inside is pretty. Being one of the first people in the restaurant I didn't realize you had to order at the registers. Once I sat down the lady informed me. The setup is awkward since the line where you pay stretches in front of the front door leaving people to continuously bump into one another. Maybe it was just the day we came, but they need a better system. I ordered the veggie stack ($9), because the turkey burger specifically says it has pork fat in it or maybe that it's cooked in pork fat. Either way I don't know and it's kind of annoying, because my typical burger choice is always the turkey burger. Oh well, at least they forwarn. I'll give them that. One thing I didn't realize is that the veggie stack listed on the burgers menu (where all others contain some type of topping) is really just two veggie patties and some arugula. I don't love condiments, but this burger was dry as fuck. I finally asked for a side of some spicy mayo, but it was still on the way too dry side. It could have used some cheese or something else. The patty itself isn't bad, but they should really suggest some type of sauce on it. I order the quinoa, pea, avocado side salad ($6) and it was pretty good. Next time I come I will just stick to ordering salad since the burger options don't really work for me. I tasted a friends fries and those were quite delicious. All in all a pretty meh and slightly expensive lunch meal. I can't say that I would really want to come back with the turkey burger option off the table and the too dry veggie stack.

Best burger I've had in years!!!!!!! No doubt that if I want a great burger or have friends and family in town with an itch for an incredible burger, this is the joint we are going to! I don't like the pseudo fast food ordering and waiter delivered concept, but the burger made me forget about all of that. It's amazing!!!

Great burger but not a great value. I'm a fan of Bocado in West Midtown. I've often thought it had one of the best burgers in Atlanta. As a result, I was excited to see the fast casual version open up in Avalon. Unfortunately, the burger was great but I can't recommend Bocado Burger as I think it is a poor value. A co-worker and I came here for lunch. We each got the burger and both enjoyed it. The problem is that the burger is over $9 alone. Adding fries will add $1.75 while a small side salad is $3. So a burger and fries is around $11 before tax and tip. I had a burger and salad which put me at $13. With tax and tip I was over $15. And we both had tap water to drink. Based upon that, I think the 2.5 star rating as of late February 2015 is appropriate.

Funky little burger place near the new shopping mall. It's a little over priced but the burgers are good. Their veggie burger is delicious and they offer a very delicious gluten free bun option! Service is a hybrid of full service and counter service which is interesting. You order at the counter and then sit with your number-but then once you're seated someone comes over to you to assist with refills and deliver your food and such. Not sure if you're supposed to tip these people and if so, how much? A good experience overall and they have a really nice outdoor area that would be nice with good weather!

So I have been wanting to try this place for awhile especially since I had heard it was similar to Yeah Burger. I normally do not go out for lunch, but since I only work about 5 minutes from The Avalon, decided to take a break, do a little shopping, and grab a burger. I created my own beef burger (which is actually a double stack) on a gluten free bun, topped with the caramelized onions, lettuce, pickles, and Gouda cheese. The burger itself was delicious---too much meat for me personally, so I actually removed one of the patties---oops! I am not a huge fan of Pure Knead gluten free buns, but was happy enough to have an option. I topped off my burger with an order of fries and a side of buttermilk ranch. The fries were fresh cut potatoes and were cooked perfectly. They also went perfect with the ranch. The atmosphere was cool and low key. The staff was super friendly too. Overall, I am a fan and would definitely go back. My only recommendations would be offer more choices (beef, turkey, and veggie) are the only patty options and also it would be nice if the cashiers knew more about what was and wasn't gluten free. I am the most annoying person to eat with because I ask a million questions, but I have to make sure nothing I eat contains gluten or tomatoes. It is nice when I can place an order and not see this blank expression, like gluten, what's that???? If you are shopping around The Avalon and want a burger, stop by!

Loved the herb fries!!! Built my own burger with smoked gouda, grilled onions, mushrooms, and bacon. It was very tast but I think they forgot the bacon because I surely didn't taste it. By the time I realized it I only had one bite left so no need in crying about it. A little pricey for a burger but I will definitely come back.

If I could give 3.5 stars I would, as I don't truly belief this place is 4 star worthy, but I'll give it the benefit of the doubt. Is the food good? Yes. Is it worth the price? No. But then again, this is Alpharetta. Ted's Montana Grill charges $14 for a beef burger, so I can only somewhat agree with the others complaining about the $9 burgers here. To me, Five Guys still makes one of the best burgers if you're comparing "faster service" type places that aren't a true sit down restaurant, but also not fast food. The fries here are amazing, as was the burger, but it didn't blow me away. Their house margaritas are pretty damn good though, and they do $7 specials on those. Service was eh. Hard to expect much from teenagers or college kids. Atmosphere here is unique, but I wish they had some more comfortable seating.

Ate here for lunch with a co-worker on a Friday afternoon. There is good and bad with this restaurant. How it works: You walk in and order at the register and are given a number for your table. You do NOT pay at the register.. you pay at your table. If you ordered a drink, you get your OWN drink. Food is brought out to you by your "waitress" and tells you to let them know if there's anything they can do for you. This is the reason why I gave it 3 stars. By having customers pay at the table instead of the register, while having to get their own drinks, you are making people think they have to tip. Our "waitress" specifically made a point to say she was our "waitress". However, she did not ask us if we wanted refills. She took our plates and gave us our check. I think this is extremely confusing and I gave her a very minimal tip because I was not being waited on fully like a normal restaurant that does everything at your table. I may be criticized for this, but this is the restaurants fault and not the waitress. Although my experience was rough with the restaurant set-up, I do have to say the food was delicious. The burgers look small, but I was full after my meal and I didn't even get fries. However, I did pay $1.25 for a SLICE OF CHEESE.. which the lady at the register taking my order made it seem like it was included with my burger when she said, "what kind of cheese would you like?". I guess I need to look at the menu more carefully to see that cheese is an extra. Another thing about the restaurant- it is SO loud in there. The entire restaurant echoes. You can't hear anyone. I think the lady at the register had to tell me 5 times that I pay at my table. I'm only 21 so I know I have good ears. It's also a bit overpriced, like everything in Avalon. I'll probably be trying a few other places before I go back here.

This place is ok at best. First off, 10$ just for a single burger is completely outrageous. Plus any sides, toppings and a drink. I got a turkey burger with sweet potato fries. The burger was ok, nothing special and the fries were definitely sitting out for awhile. The girl at the front counter wasn't the nicest . The service for three couples to get their food was slow. We had to ask twice for my boyfriend to get his milkshake. It is a cool restaurant, but there are much better burger places for a more reasonable price in town. I can't say I'll be back.

Before visiting, I wondered why/how this place has such terrible reviews... now I understand. It's such a shame because the burger from Bocado in Westside was so delicious, which is the main reason why we wanted to try Bocado Burger at the Avalon. It's safe to assume that they both serve the same burger, right? Wrong! The burgers at Bocado Burger at the Avalon were noticeably smaller, dry, & flavorless; the fries were soggy & greasy. So disappointing. The only good thing about our 1st (& probably last) visit is the service; our server was so sweet & attentive. Bocado Burger is located next to Arhaus at the Avalon. Plenty of parking spots. Cute patio. Prices are not at all reasonable for the food you get. Order when you walk in, then grab a table - I didn't like this set-up at all. Don't forget to tip your waiters/waitresses!

Me and my girl met for lunch here today and considering that we arrived just as they were opening late we got pretty good service. We were greeted by the manager that gave us very specific directions on how to order. After placing our order we picked a seat and camped out. All was good until shortly after sitting the waitress sat a dish in front of me that did not belong to me. In addition, she never got my girl's sparkling water with lemon order. Big disconnect between the order taker and the order fulfiller. After the mix up the manager came over, acknowledged the error, corrected the error and apologized for the mix up...promptly and sincerely. That's all I ask! Way to make up for a small error. The Food: We both thought the burgers was great but a bit too pricey for us. All in all a pretty good spot for lunch.

I enjoyed Bocado Burger, but it wasn't what I expected. I am not a fan of restaurants that require you to order at a counter when you walk in because I always feel rushed to pick a meal. There were several people in line when we got to BB and everyone seemed a little confused as to what to do and then it created just a group of people in a small area trying to read their menu. This is the only reason I give BB 4 stars and not 5. The food was yummy though! The burger was good. Not overwhelmingly big, which I liked. Tasty and filling. Herb fries were awesome! Served with ranch that was delicious. Sweet potato fries were good too. We tried a strawberry milkshake and it was one of the best I've ever had. (Once you find yourself a table, there is a server for that area) Our waitress was very nice. Your server also brings you your bill at the end of your meal, so all you do at the counter is actually order. I will be back, I'm sure.

Bocado Burger seems like a good addition to the Avalon shopping center and it's a great way to bring Bocado's signature "Bocado Stack" to the masses in the suburbs. I think this location is more family-friendly, but to be clear, this location is all about sandwiches/burgers so you're not going to find the unique entrees you do at the Midtown location. However, this location does have a separate bar area for all their hip drinks. I decided to do something different and get the veggie stack since I've had their signature burger before. Not a good choice. It sounded like a good idea, but the veggie stack ended up being two thin patties of cubed veggies, most notably eggplant and carrot (though I'm sure there were other veggies too like jicama), and then plenty of lettuce and some cheese on it. I'm not sure what filler was used to keep the veggies together, but it reminded me of korean pancake batter. I'm not a vegetarian, but I wouldn't recommend this since it was a bit on the flavorless side. The fries left much to be desired. My family and I ordered the regular fries and the herb fries. I remember loving the herb fries at the Midtown location but was surprised at how flavorless these were. They really tasted no different from the regular fries, so maybe the kitchen wasn't having a great day or something? The only different is that you could see the herby greenness and where's the garlic? Normally you could eat herb fries without any dressing but that day, we needed ketchup for sure. As far as value goes, I don't know. It's a little too expensive for what you're getting and I think that's going to be a struggle in a family-oriented area especially if it's casual eats. I'd easily skip the line and decor to go to a Five Guys or something. Service is decent, but this is just another burger establishment on top of the many others in the area.

We ate here as our back up restaurant with friends in late April. It was easy to get in and get a table on Friday night. I ordered the BLT burger for $10.49 and it was delicious! A little more than I would normally pay, but it was good. My husband and I shared an order of regular fries, which again were delicious and cost only $1.75. Our friends meals were much more complicated so I can't speak for them but they ordered the herb fries and actually preferred our order of regular fries. The IPA draft beer my husband ordered was $5. This was my first time at Bocado but I had previously heard many good things about them and I did enjoy the atmosphere in addition to the food. Even after we stood in line and ordered it was easy to add items to our order with the help of our waitress. The waitress was responsive and helpful. She did try to be funny and kind of come across awkward at one point but everything else made it easy to look past. Overall good experience. I would go back and would recommend them to others.

Tried this place at lunch and found the veggie burger to be delicious! The patties (two!) made from eggplant, carrot, kale, onion and arugula were really tasty. A side of sweet potato fries made this a great meal. I would recommend it even if you're paying a premium for the gourmet aspect of the burgers.

Great burgers and great service. I got here pretty early on a Saturday evening. The line had not started to form quite yet. By the time I left, the line was out the door so make sure to get here early! Our meal consisted of two double stacks, kale salad and kids' burgers. Everyone enjoyed their meal. I will say that it was pricey for a fast-casual restaurant. It was over $60 for just a family of four. The food is really good. Also, all the employees were very friendly and helpful.

I frequently dine at Bocado Burger and have enjoyed the food and friendly customer service, however, tonight was different. My food was not prepared as requested but I settled for what I was served because I was very hungry and because the waiter did not stop by my table and check in with me. However, my waiter visited the tables around me several times and asked: 1) if they needed anything 2) offered them dessert 3) etc But to my amazement, he "never" stopped by my table to extend me the same courtesy as he did with the guests; he only came to my table to provide the food, leave the check, pick up the check, and to return my change. I left Bocado feeling very disappointed.....

The burgers were good but my review is about the service mostly. So you order up front, then get your own drink and just wait on your food to be brought to the table based on Your number. But they still have servers? Not sure what they're purpose is other than to come over every 5 seconds and ask if you're ok and make you feel obligated to tip them. I served myself so not sure why you are here. They DO bring you ketchup so maybe for that? We were really confused as to their purpose and felt pressure to tip them even though they didn't really provide a service.

Our original dinner spot was not yet opened, so my group of 7 made our way across the Avalon shopping plaza to Bocado. When we walked in, there was a line of people immediately in front of us against a wall, a bar area to the left and the dining area to the right. We weren't sure if this was a line for seating, but was quickly informed that no, this was in fact the line to place your order. A manager did come by and speak to a few people and answered any questions, but he had disappeared by the time we made our way towards the front after about a 12 min. wait. When we did get to the front, i saw that there was only 1 cashier / order taker and she either was not accustomed to the register or just moved slower than molasses cause we had to repeat our order several times for her to key it in correctly. Once we got our ticket and number, we made our way to the table. After a bit, we got our food, but I realized that my chicken sandwich did not come with the cheese I requested, so I asked a server (one of several), and he came back with 2 slices of cold cheese. I was really surprised because this is a hot sandwich and the cheese was not so i asked for them to take it back and heat the whole thing up like I had originally requested. Obviously, this was a HUGE problem cause the server made the ugliest face imaginable. Even my dinner mates who normally don't comment on stuff like that was put off. We had to ask for water, straws and napkins several, several times. I don't understand why there are 20 servers who come around every 5 min. to ask you about your food but then disappear for 15 min. when you ask for something. On to the food; eh, I've had better. In fact, I think a good ole' chicken sandwich from Chick-fil-a beats out my $9 chicken sandwich here any day in terms of flavor and value. SO had the a burger and it was much, much more flavorable than mine. We did really enjoy our herb fries though and our Mexican coke (but you can't really mess that up!) The whole set up of the restaurant is not great at getting people from the door, to the register and to their table quickly since the register is literally in front of the door.

This burger place is great! I love the environment and decor of this restaurant. The beef from this restaurant is from Creekstone Farms, which means it is certified Halal..but only the beef though, the chicken is not Halal. I personally liked the Bocado Burger Stack..which is what I ordered there. You can also make your own burger. I 100% reccomend this place for you and your family!

ITP's best burger is certainly among the top five or ten within 5-7 miles of the Avalon location. It's top five quality, but only top five in quality and value. Among the chain after chain after chain of Atlanta they can get away with a high price for a small burger. In the much more competitive Alpharetta area, they need to lower the price to compete with the big boys. The fact that they do not have a lobster roll is pure stupidity. There are at least a dozen great burger places not far from here, but only one with a great lobster roll.

The key to this place is to find a spot at the full service bar. Skip the line, have a drink and order. You will get your food before anybody in line. UPDATED (see **) First off, let me preface this review my stating we came on opening day. I will revisit this on my second trip to see if it deserves to be changed for the better. So, on with the review: Our wait in line was rather quick but once we sat down we noticed people sitting after us started to get their food first. A waiter noticed after about 30 minutes and had to ask what we got. We ordered the southwestern, grilled cheese, sweet potato fries and a chocolate shake. Shortly after, he came out with the shake - and it was not what we were expecting. It really tasted like it was sour milk, but that might be the sea salt - we're not sure. We sent it back and got a vanilla instead. We are now 40 minutes in and still without food. I ended up going to Brian the manager to request a refund, and assured we will come back. He graciously apologized, gave us a $20 gift card, our food to go and a refund. So we ate our food at home. The burger was nothing spectacular, but the grilled cheese was good. For now I feel a 2 star rating will stay where it's at until we make it back. This was an unfortunate first-time experience for us, and so we'll plan on coming back once the crowd dies down. ** Edited 11/12 I took a team of guys over there around 2pm (right before the odd closing hours). At first we only wanted some drinks, and lucky us they had just received their liquor license the day prior. So we ordered some drinks, as well as an appetizer. We had to wait a little bit because the bartender had literally just received all of the bar ingredients earlier that day so she was still rifling through all of the boxes. She graciously apologized for the 20 minute wait, but we weren't too concerned since we were there on "business" anyways. She chatted with us a bit, and then told us our bar tab was covered. WHAT! Awesome! Not only did Brian and Corey (managers) come through with the refunds, as well as gracious apologies about our experience, our bar tab was covered during our team meeting. This was a pleasant surprise. I will raise my original 2-star rating to 3 stars, and if/when I go back to eat some food I'll re-evaluate. Overall, great customer service goes a long way. Thanks guys!

Tried to go last night. Arrived at 5:30 (it opens at 5:00), and there was a line back to the bar (maybe 10 people in front of us?). But we stood there about 10 minutes and it didn't move an inch. There were plenty of open tables inside and out. Not sure what the deal was, but we ended up leaving. Maybe we'll go back in a few months when they get their stuff together. Not gonna wait in line forever for a hamburger place. Would have been nice if someone (host maybe?) communicated why it was taking so long.

Not sure if OTPers enjoy much cheaper food than in the city or what, because prices here are in line with any other burger place of this type in town. In some ways the name doesn't do it any favors, since it's not full service like Bocado -- but If you go in expecting something like Yeah! Burger you will be happy. Burgers were quite good and fries were fine...note to mgmt though, those could still be a bit crispier. Vibe was good and will be cool when they can open the big windows in the spring.

First time at Bocado Burger and in the new Avalon shopping area earlier tonight after going ice skating with a friend for an OTP Yelp event. I've never heard of Bocado Burger before but when I took a glimpse at their menu online the night before, I knew I had to try this place out and I'm glad we did! Since it's in the new Avalon shopping center, parking isn't too hard to find and there's also a parking deck available, not too far of a walk. It has a small outside patio with outside seating and a small grass area to play a game of bean bag toss, so I can only imagine how busy/crowded they'll be once the weather starts to get warm. When you walk in, they have a bar to the left where you can eat and drink if you prefer to sit there. Like Yeah! Burger, you order your food first at the register, take a number and then go sit down at a table where the servers bring you your food. I've never been to the one located in Midtown, but this location offers burgers, sandwiches, sides/salads/snacks and a small selection for kids. I ordered a build your own turkey burger with American cheese, local arugula, bibb lettuce, grilled onions, and a farm egg all on a white sesame bun with roast garlic mayo and spicy mayo on the side. My friend ordered a BLT burger (applewood bacon, American cheese, bibb lettuce, and tomato) with an egg and their herb fries that came with ranch. [The cashier was also nice enough to not charge my friend the egg because she forgot to add it on earlier.] Our food arrived shortly after and it was DELICIOUS! I'm really glad with my choice and it tasted great with both mayonnaise sauces. The herb fries were also really good, but a little on the oily side. They had a number of tables with seating mostly for up to four people. There's a table in the middle of the room for customers to get utensils, napkins, straws, and etc. One thing I did notice was that one side of the wall had a roll up gate. I guess when the weather does get warmer, they pull those up and that'll allow access out to the outside patio. The servers were really nice and after we were done eating, came by to take them away. Overall, the food and service were great, so I would definitely go back! Hopefully it won't change depending on the time of day or if they get busy. Plus, there are plenty of stores to check out afterwards and a Pinkberry and Caffe Gio if you want to grab dessert!

The setting is very nice and they are very well staffed but the game plan for their staff is horrible. Prices are outrageous! For two drinks, one burger, one hot dog and a shared order of fries, our bill came out to $35. It took a while to place our order as there was only one cashier and it seemed like a dozen servers. Once you order, you seat yourself and are asked by each of the dozen servers if the food was good. It got annoying after the first few. We visited before noon on a Saturday and even though we waited a while to order, the food came quickly. Overall, we would likely not visit again, as it is overpriced for a mediocre burger joint.

Parking: Plenty of parking in front as this restaurant is located in the shopping center Setup: You order and pay at the counter, but the rest of the meal is serviced by your waiter, from condiments to cleanup. You should consider having some cash on you to tip appropriately after your meal. Food: Bocado Burger was so deliciously moist. I would definitely order it again. The herb fries tasted like normal fries. All in all $13 meal without tip. Service: Great! Everyone from the cashiers to your servers were accommodating and helpful. Bocado Burger seriously needs to reconsider their tipping system, though. Due to the counter, first timers won't know that they are being serviced for most of their meal.

Service was amazing for Friday afternoon! Burgers were a bit salty but great texture - bun was amazing. Both sweet potato and regular fries were good, and the kale salad was superb!

ATL has a variety of hamburger spots to choose from. With that said, you order your meal at the front cash register, unless you sit at the bar, then you order accordingly, which we did. The "Roasted/Fried Brussels Sprouts" were suggested by the bartender & she said it was big enough to split. The food arrived quickly, but the suggested dish to split consisted of 6 baby sprouts cut in half mingling with slivers of cabbage in a drenched Asian dressing. Burgers had flimsy ingredients, bland taste and didn't have the substance to hold with your hands; a fork was a far better alternative. Selections of bottled beers were descent, but the glass of wines was not. Service was basic, nothing outside the box. Pricey place for just being mediocre.

Overall a pretty darn good burger. ( I will skip the fries next time) I got the blt one with bacon, lettuce cheese and tomato. Super tasty. The whole set up was a little weird to me, you walk in a door in the side and then get in line to order, the area gets pretty crowded, the flow of traffic isn't very well directed. Then you place the order and go sit down. A burger, coke and fries was like $16.. ( again, id skip the fries.. and I never got a refill on the soda, so prolly water next time too, or try a milkshake) They bring it out to you and then ask if they can get you anything. We got a couple condiments and the server person disappeared. I think they work sections or free for all and split $.. hard to tell... I would go back but I don't know that it wopuld be a place I would suggest.

Not a good experience what so ever. The concept of waiting in line while blocking the bar and restrooms might work at other locations but not at the Avolon. The food is very expensive for a burger joint. The burgers were TASTELESS and small and the salad I had with goat cheese and beets was also Tasteless. If you want refills on beer or regular drinks, you must wait on a waiter to refill your drinks. I just had high hopes for good burger joint but this is not the one.

Good: Decent food Bad: The "experience" and cost. Went in with my wife and two kids. Like others say, the ordering process is weird. You order at the register, get a number, your cups and pour your own drinks. Wife ordered a glass of wine. Few minutes later wine shows up - precise pour of 5 oz but looked light for $12 per glass for a Chardonnay. You pay less at a ball game for the same quality wine. It took a while for a table to clear - my wife and I had to stand at either end of the restaurant to try and grab a table before others who came behind us did. Food took forever. A "waitress" showed up 15 mins in pretending to be helpful - where were you when we needed a table? No dessert but the check with tip was over $80 - wife had two glasses of wine, everyone else had tea and water.I spend less when I go to a Braves game. I cant imagine this place is still around in 12 months without lowering its prices and changing the entire customer experience. We wont be back.

ordered a grilled cheese sandwich and tomato bisque and received a sad looking chicken sandwich. disappointing... cashier rang up the wrong thing and pretended that it was my fault (even after asking if I "wanted the bisque") at least I got a refund. not going back there...

I love this burger but I'm giving them a 3. I've been here on numerous occasions and they are so inconsistent. Sometimes the burger is perfect, but several times it's very greasy. I've seen numerous reviews about how greasy their burgers are. Not juicy, but sitting in a puddle of grease on your bun. I have ordered the lettuce burger a few times too and that is even worse. The lettuce is completely wilted. Their burgers, milkshakes, and sweet potato fries are delicious but man I wish they would listen to the greasy burger complaints. That's an easy fix. Pricey for a burger, but I don't mind if I could count on it being delicious. Right now it's a 50/50 shot.

I don't understand the low ratings...Bocado on Howell Mill Rd has always been my go-to burger spot and I'm excited that they have opened this new location. Burgers are amazing and the atmosphere is cool. C'mon people give these guys some better yelp ratings!

Good, but inferior to less expensive alternatives. We have eaten at all the burger places in Alpharetta and Roswell. Bocado is more expensive than the others, and not as good. It was not a bad meal, but inferior to BurgerFi or The Counter, and more expensive. I had the Prosciutto Stack burger and brussel sprouts. The burger was decent, but would have benefitted from a sauce. The prosciutto was difficult to taste. For $12, I could have gotten a noticeably better burger at either place I mentioned above. The brussel sprouts were the highlight of the meal, and reasonably priced. My wife had the Southwestern burger. She enjoyed it, but again, not overwhelming. The herb fries were good, but on the bland side. We could have built our own, but the options were limited compared to the other places and the costs were higher. I will stick to BurgerFi and The Counter.

I'm really torn about this place. I really do like the food. They keep switching around the service model - the particulars vary but it's always halfway between fast casual and full service, and that part just makes the service slow and confusing. You always order at the register. Sometimes you pay at the register, sometimes you don't. Tip? Don't tip? When/how to tip? I can't tell. The waitstaff used to handle your drinks - now it appears they handle some (like lemonade) but others (like tea), you now get yourself? If you watch the kitchen it seems like they make food pretty quickly but a lot of times there's tons of plates waiting on the counter to be sent out to the tables, so it's hard to tell why the food is sometimes slow to come out. I really do enjoy the food here so I wish they'd get a more consistent (and efficient) service model.

I have been many many times at Bocado in downtown and have tried their burgers several times so is hard for me not to compare their burgers and I prefer the ones in downtown but it is still a good option as a burger joint convenient to people at Avalon.

Fail. Service is disorganized, you have to stand in line like a cafetaria to place your order, then you have to search for a table and stand around looking desperate until one opens up and then you have to tip a waitstaff for service when all that happened is they brought the food to the table. $65.00 for a dinner for 3 at a hamburger joint with limited service? I think not. Food quality - fries were not enjoyable. Burger was very good. Brussel Sprouts were amazing. Won't be back anytime soon.

I was up OTP running errands and decided to detour to check out the new Avalon mixed-use community. I'd heard so much about the space and wanted to finally see it for myself. But of course, I was hungry. The first food spot I noticed on the way in was Bocado Burger, so I stopped by. I've had the double stack at Bocado on the Westside a number of times for lunch, and a tasty cheeseburger and some fries sounded mighty good. I wish the weather was warmer, because the patio space looked so beautiful! The space overall was gorgeous: very industrial, with a converted garage feel. Plenty of light streaming in all around. I noted in a few other reviews, that diners were surprised that you order your food at the counter and it is brought out to you after. Maybe this is new and unexpected in Alpharetta? Anyway, I ordered the Bocado (classic) burger with a side of herb fries. The patties were small and hand formed, grilled to be thinner than you see in giant, messy burgers. Two slices of American cheese and house made pickles. It's a tasty, well-sized burger, that neatly fits in your hand, and is rightly sized to take a bite from without spilling all the innards all over your plate or shirt. The fries were delicious--hand cut, not too crunchy, with generous seasoning. Yes, they're supposed to be green. Plus, they come with a side of ranch for dipping. Love that. The waitstaff was exceedingly (almost overwhelmingly) helpful. My fries came out regular the first go-round and when I mentioned it to the server who came to check on me, I was brought a new platter almost immediately. Throughout the meal, I was checked on by three (maybe four?) different servers, all of which were really sweet. But then I thought about the counter-order service again. And why they might be so helpful? Please, please, please don't forget to tip!

We've eaten here twice and we definitely feel like the ground beef is quality. You can taste the fresh, grass-fed beef and it's officially the only burger I will eat in town. I always order the BLT, because I just love the classic American hamburger without anything fancy. It truly is delicious in my opinion with thick bacon, crisp lettuce, and a fresh tomato. Non burger items: - The sweet potato fries are one of the better ones I've had in my life. Not number one, but a genuine contender. - I'm not a big fan of the regular potato (herb) fries, but my husband enjoys them as the side to a build-your-own-burger. Though he is a burger person and will eat one from anywhere, he also loves Bocado. - The vanilla-caramel milkshake was just okay, we weren't too impressed so we haven't tried another one. Maybe next time. This is a pricier burger joint (I mean, it is located in Avalon). It's $10-$20 for a burger, but it really is worth it in my opinon. The atmosphere is quite enjoyable, with outdoor access and a lawn for kids. Downfall: the restrooms! As a nurse, I spotted a few problems in terms of germs: (1) they don't have soap dispensers (they use store-bought single-use soap dispensers); (2) you have to flush the toilet by hand; (3) they use an air hand dryer; (4) you have to unlock the door separately and then open the door to leave. Skip the restrooms if you can. None of the three restrooms (one person per room) is baby-friendly (I presume you have to drive to the family area near the cinemas or just use your car should you need to change a diaper). Obviously this applies to very few, but worth noting.

What is wrong with the restaurants in Avalon ? I had a great experience in Bocado Burger Atlanta, so I decide to stop by this new location and was a chocking and disappointing experience. Is not the service, it is the product itself, the burger was smaller, the fries were grease and cold. I would not recommend this place at this time. Give a try in 6 months.

I heard good things about the bocado burger in town so when I was invited to go checked them out, I was all for it. I like the decor and the ambiance of the inside outside seating area. I didn't like that I had to stand in line to order to begin with but no biggie, it's not a deal breaker... I ordered the burger with bacon and fried chicken sandwich and herb fries. As expensive as the burgers were, I did expect it to be bigger but it was barely a 1/4 pounder. It did have some decent flavor but I make much better burgers at home so I was not impressed. Fried chicken sandwich was a disappointment too because a fried chicken sandwich that was just served should not be all soggy... Where is the crunchiness on the outside and the flavorful juiciness on the inside?? now..I did like the herb fries though.. Oh.. our fried chicken sandwich was supposed to have smoked gouda cheese on there that we paid extra for but was not on there when it was served. It took us a while to flag down the server to let them know and when we did, they just took the plate back put the cheese on the sandwich which was cold now. my experience was not horrible but not so great food and not so great service I don't think I will return.

Concept is HORRIBLE! Lack of signage inside and out. Order at counter and wait for drinks to come...if they even do. No tables available to sit once ordered, then had to clean own table when one opened. People who hadnt even ordered where claiming tables leaving other parties, w drinks, standing for open tables. Bar drinks received AFTER food arrived (ordered on someone elses tab). Turkey burger out (found out after LONG wait line/time). Milkshake never received, comped from bill after notifying "server." Had to get up to get refills and silverware/napkins. Bathrooms disgusting. Trash/food/oil piled up outside, visible from parking lot....is this against health code....city of Alpharetta needs to look into this place immediately! Prices are RIDICULOUS! $30+ for burgers, fries and drink excluding tip...which you are expected to pay BEFORE receiving service. According to employee, independent OWNER only concerned about making $$$ over quality of experience. Also says restaurant already on 3rd GM in 5 months, staff unhappy w treatment & lack of $$ from tip system. 2.5 star rating is being VERY generous. Several other hand crafted burger options nearby w more options and less $$$.... and a Cook Out opening soon

We love the Bocado in town and were excited to try Bocado Burger out in the burbs. First I'll say the parking situation is less than ideal - there seemed to be many more cars in the immediate parking lot than people in the restaurant. Once inside, it is a little confusing as to where to line up, purchase food, etc. We ended up bypassing the line and sitting at the bar (no wait), so fortunately we did not have to figure this all out. The decor was bright and modern with lots of windows and natural light. Our server at the bar was very friendly and attentive. The menu is fairly small, but you can order all of the items at the bar. They also a full selection of liquor, wine and beer, as the standard sodas and milkshakes found at many burger places. They were having a $5 bloody mary special the Sunday that we dined here. The burgers themselves were VERY good - maybe our favorite standard burger in the Atlanta area. We tried the Turkey Burger (which was good), and the standard cheese burger (which was excellent), as well as the herb fries (also very good). All of the items are ala carte, so don't expect to get fries with your burger. The prices are ever so slightly higher than the burger prices at the original sit down Bocado in town. The prices are city burger joint prices ($9+ for a burger, $3+ for fries, etc.) and you should know that going in. If you drove to midtown you'd pay about the same at any of the other comparable places with similar ingredients and sized meals/sides. If you are expecting a cheap burger and fries - go someplace else! These are high quality boutique burgers worth the extra price. I would suggest the location look at their layout/ordering process, but otherwise have little/no complaints.

So I've been wanting to try Bocado's famous burger since reading it was one of the ATL's best. Last week I finally had my opportunity. Since we were already at Avalon, I decided to take the family there to try one of these famous burgers. So the set up is strange. The customer gets in line and orders at the register. Then they give you a receipt, but not to pay yet, you take it to your table where a "server"(?) waits on you for the rest of the meal. It was definitely a bit confusing and not like any other place I've been to. The service was a bit lacking, but one of our servers went out of his way to make the experience enjoyable. Now on the the burgers... I ordered the Burger Stack and believe me, it lived up to the hype. I'm not a big fan of mayo or B&B pickles, but I tried the burger anyway and it was fantastic. Lot's of melty cheese and the burger patties tasted just right. I also ordered the Herb Fries which weren't anything special. That burger though was fantastic. I'll be back again for another one in the near future.

Ridiculously expensive for such a small, ordinary tasting burger. Plus $1.75 for a small portion of crap fries on top! No wonder they have such a poor rating. This place isn't on my list any more.

Yikes. Upon first look it's cute, nice enough staff, decor is the mod urban look we are all craving now. But a deeper dive in and the bathrooms are super grimy, toilet paper holders broken leaving opened TP on the back of the toilet. The soap dispenser was full of water. You know those situations where you run out of soap and add a little water to fill? The entire large soap holder was 95% water 5% soap..... So how are the employees cleaning their hands? Lastly, the set up is waiting in line like quick serve, order at the counter, then you go to your table and pay from your table? Why did we stand in a line to order? We sat at our table for 15 min never saw a server and we grabbed our own drinks etc.. The prices are super inflated; $10 for a grilled cheese, $8 for a hot dog, fries/sides not included. This place has potential but could use some fixes.

The walkin order process is a bit odd for Avalon crowd. You have to grab a table quickly to get a good spot. The Bocado Burger is pretty bland but i did like the Southwestern Burger. Servers were very attentive and shared us some good tips about the "To Go" cups to carry out your alcoholic beverage.

I was apprehensive based on the poor ratings, but decided to try anyway. Pros: - I did like the food there (bocado, southwest burgers and herb fires) - Focus is quality here, not quantity - Good outdoor seating with an artificial bacci ball court Cons: - The layout is a bit confusing, but as soon as we walked in, someone helped us get oriented - The value maybe questionable I gave them 3 stars as the place didn't exactly wow me, but they are not as bad as the initial reviews. You have to understand Avalon is attempting to bring mid-town to Buckhead, so set the right expectation when you go in.

So I have been here twice and although they are new and probably experiencing some growing pains, you can not deny that the food is outstanding! The first time I had the fried chicken sandwich and it was delicious. It has a spicy mayo and slaw that is to die for. I love good ole American burgers but the second time I had a turkey burger southwestern style with avocado, poblano peppers and onion. Oh Em Gee! This combo of flavors was succulent and filling. You can't have a burger without fries and the sweet potato fries were fresh, not greasy and plentiful. My daughter had the kids chicken fingers and they were also fresh and lightly battered - not what you normally see nowadays. I rarely give 5 stars but the food literally made me smile and that is undeniable! They are a bit pricey but at least the quality and the taste of the food soon make you forget.

Not a lot of options, and it gives off a prison cafeteria vibe. I got two burgers and an order of fries and after tipping it came to $30 (I tipped 15%). Definitely not worth it. It wasn't bad- but for $10-12 burger I expect something filling. Not sure if my bun was toasted or just stale. For the people of Alpharetta this might seem like a decent place, but coming from somebody that enjoys a good burger, this is a rip-off.

  • Sara A.

The burger meat is from Creekstone farms so it is halal apparently which is great! The classic double stack beef burgers were juicy and the outdoor seating is nice! The only complaint I had was that the fries were under-salted and a little like home fries I can make myself at home-could be better. Casual dining with ordering at the front, and server brings you the order and any additional items.

This was at best a terrible hamburger in a restaurant specializing in burgers. Burgers are not cooked to order, they come over cooked, too salty and are tasteless. That sums it up. You pay no extra for the bugs that fly around. I'm done!

  • Ree R.

Went here because it recently open in the neighborhood, but was disappointed. I got the southwest burger, which was ok, small, very greasy and not flavorful. This burger and fries is not worth $15 per person. It has a very weird setting, where it's kind of like five guys, u order ur food from a line and then the waiter brings u water. That was really strange. Five guys is better.

The only reason this place gets 4 star is because of the ambiance. If I were to only consider the taste of burger, this place serves one of the best veggie burger in Atlanta area.

  • Prima W.

The food was amazing as I am a vegetarian and love veggie burgers but the service is horrible. For 4 burgers, I paid 60 bucks and treated like I paid 6 bucks. There is no designated place for take-out orders to stand so I was forced to stand by the bathrooms. Then as the manager walked past me for 25 minutes, he never offered me water or a place to sit. Then once my food arrived, it was all wrong. I asked for 4 burgers with all the toppings including in each box. Instead I got 8 boxes with toppings in each one and the burgers separate. I had to get to the office and prepare lunch for my executives because the restaurant could seem to understand what I wanted or needed and after 25 mins I was beyond irritated.

3 Stars is spot on. Adorable place. Love the open air garage doors and covered patio option. Simple menu with nice sounding salad/side option. The fried Brussels sound great as does the Beet Salad. The burgers are small double stacked patties. Not the juicy kind. Not much flavor. No salt & pepper on the table and there should be something to liven up my Southwest Burger. Kind of reminded me of McDonald's Big Mac. I see why others have commented not a lot of bang for your buck here. Had to try it for myself because I am a huge burger fan! I was comparing to the likes of Marlow's Tavern, Burger Fi, Burgers 21 and Kona Burger @ Kona Grill. Bocado Burger is okay, hands down last place...just nothing to rave about. Sadly, I will probably never come back unless trying something other than burgers. With options like Marlow's Tavern, Teds Montana Grill and Kona Grill @ Avalon, I think this place may struggle to win over burger lovers. Such a shame. Love the layout and easy breezy feeling.

Definitely a disappointment here. Came with a group of friends for dinner. We sat outside, which was nice. You have to go inside to order, though. They had a variety of burgers to choose from. I chose the one veggie option they had. They had side options including brussel sprouts (my new fav veggie), and sweet potato fries. They also serve beer and wine. I could choose from different sauces, and they had a selection of toppings for your burger like carmelized onions and different cheeses. The lines were huge on a Saturday night, but moved fairly quickly. Service was good. Had several waitstaff check in on the group. So the food arrived sporadically so we couldn't eat all together because the fries would get cold. The veggie burger was bland, and fell apart very easily. The saving grace on it was the spicy mayo. Without it, I couldn't have finished it. The bun was yucky. I don't know how to describe it, but I didn't like the big bloated top bun. The brussel sprouts were okay. They didn't have much flavor, and I don't know what kind of creamy sauce was at the bottom of the bowl, but it had zero flavor. For $16, I would rather eat elsewhere.
