I was so excited to come here for my birthday dinner! One of my favorite restaurants now! I was bummed because I wanted to get the chicken, but was not able to because it takes a long time to fry. We are in a hurry to get to the airport because we are traveling home, you see. The waitress went above and beyond to drop the chicken in the friar while we were waiting to be seated so I could get what I wanted. Love, love, love this place!

Solid breakfast, had the eggs Benedict. Also had to try their biscuit, so I splurged on that too. Reasonable prices all around. Good service though keep in mind this place gets busy even after the breakfast morning rush. I look forward to coming back to try their lunch options. Their gyro sounds especially good; however, I'll probably skip their fried chicken as it looks not freshly made. Stepdad ordered it and described it as only okay, not as juicy and tasty as it could've been. Mashed potatoes, according to him, were delicious and plentiful.

One word will describe this quaint eatery "WOW"! My husband and I ate there for the first time this morning. The service was incredible, the atmosphere was bright, very clean and upbeat. Now on to the food!! Our plates arrived and we're perfect! The portions are simply HUGE! Everything cooked to order with great care. The price's are great also.

First time here. Place was full 1:30pm but that did not stop the fast service we received. Waitress was friendly and served us fast. . Food was hot and plentiful. A western omelette served with choice of grits or home fries and French dip with cole slaw and onion rings or fries.. Prices were very reasonable. Would definitely return. Would like to try the Greek salad. Saw a few people who seemed to be enjoying it.

They put this weird sauce on their cuban sandwiches that I am not a fan of. Their french toast and home fries are ok but nothing special. They get REALLY busy so maybe I just haven't discovered their special dish yet,

The husband and I met some friends here for breakfast recently. Anytime we are in Zephryhills early in the morning there seems to be a line out the door -- so we decided to give this place a try and find out why all the locals flock to Sunrise. Located on the corner of Gall Boulevard and Geiger Road. There is a private lot but parking spots can be sparse. We managed to finally get a sweet spot in front. Upon arrival we were told there would be about a 15 minute wait (not bad for a Sunday morning around 9:00). There was no room to wait inside but there are some benches out front to wait on your number to be called (no shortage of people watching entertainment that is for sure). When the hostess called us in less than 15 minutes we walked in finding a super busy dining room with music from the 60s booming overhead -- you cannot miss the abundant amount of movie posters and memorabilia that adorn the walls (an All American themed eatery). Stained glass chandeliers hang over the booths lining the outskirts of the dining room and yes each table has a checkered cloth. Nothing special its a diner but the food was pretty darn tasty. My husband decided on the Huge Sunrise Breakfast -- 3 eggs, 2 sausage links, 2 bacon strips, a slice of ham, home fries, and a biscuit with sausage gravy (I called it the Big Butt Special -- that is a lot of food)! Our friends ordered pancakes with fresh fruit and I opted for the biscuits and sausage gravy. Pretty good and authentic. The biscuits are homemade and the sausage gravy was fresh. The manager Manny was very engaging with each and every person that entered. He made sure that our food and service met our expectations. Shout out to Shana for the superb service -- our coffee and water was never empty. Since they serve breakfast all day - I was curious about their lunch menu. Our waitress explained that they serve home-style meals (meatloaf, catfish, burgers, Greek salads, burgers and sandwiches) that are made fresh daily. We will definitely venture back to check out their lunch items. All in all a good experience. Open everyday from 7 am to 6 pm and the best perk -- they have call ahead seating. Shhh! Don't tell anyone :)

Okay, I'm bumping my review up to FIVE stars! Not sure why I didn't do 5 before. The more I'm here, the better it gets. Manny gave us some free dessert this evening and is just as friendly as ever. I had liver and onions. The liver was okay, but everything else was amazingly delicious!! Wish we had this place in Ohio where I live!! Great job Sunrise!!

Manny and family are vacationing in Greece. While away, John is acting manager. I am very disappointed in the degradation of food since John has been in charge. I'm a regular customer, often ordering a Western omelet with cheddar cheese. Today was the second time this breakfast plate was not prepared as ordered and John failed to correct or take any action concerning my complaints. Last week, the home fries were in fact fried mashed potatoes; mushy and lacking any form. When I asked John why no home fires, he simply said maybe the potatoes were cooked too long. There was no attempt to fix the problem or compensate for a failed food item. Today, I ordered my usual Western omelet with light cheddar and light ham. The ham was in fact much reduced, but instead of light cheddar, was loaded with American cheese. I queried the server and she claims sje gave the order correctly. I asked to speak to the manager, John, and relayed my complaint that my order was not filled as requested. He walked away into the kitchen, coming back out and sitting down to a drink, No attempt was made to explain the failed order to me. I confronted John and he became defensive claiming I came in late (after 1500) and claiming the cook used cheddar. I told John that if I came in late I was never informed, and had I been told, I would have gladly gone somewhere else. But I also told John he failed as a manager in that he failed to explain to a regular customer why the order was wrong. John just said he didn't know what to tell me; wrong answer! I asked John what his relationship was to the owner, Manny. He answered with a mumble. I further chided John for failing to provide customer satisfaction. All he had to do was explain the cook's response, even if it was incorrect, and offer some small compensation for a failed breakfast. This is not the way Manny normally runs this restaurant. I will boycott Sunrise until Manny returns from Greece, and I will also ask my family and friends to do the same. To Manny: get a proper manager when you are away and protect your regulars.

Used to be first timers here, but been back already a few times. Love the atmosphere of this place, old fashioned diner with great character, very friendly staff, servers will help even if they aren't serving your table. The owner actually greeted every customer in the room with a handshake, he is always there. Great food for a really good price, seriously low. Portions are very generous. I got eggs Benedict, which were great, I could barely finish it. My husband got their 4egg Greek omelet, he loved it too. Perfect for Greek food lovers. The home made fries, which aren't even close to the traditional fries, and it's a good thing, are amazing, definitely worth trying, loved those, my favorite so far. They were thinly sliced into circles potatoes, crispy on the top, soft in the middle, perfectly seasoned by the way. And they were just yummy!! mixed with hollandaise sauce and eggs made the combination just perfect! Saw some other food carried by, like pancakes, huge and fluffy, and a burger, gigantic and looks delish, which my husband tried too and said it's to die for, but want to come back to try other options. Love the atmosphere, prices are ridiculously low for quality food, so go and try for yourself!

Went there yesterday for the first time, this place used to ABC Pizza which we weren't fond of. Was in the mood for a decent burger for awhile now, tried a different place last week with failed results. As for this establishment I was very impressed. I got a (huge, can't fit in your mouth) medium rare cheeseburger with sauteed onions ($5.19) and it was EXCELLENT, big, juicy and flavorful. It was just what I was looking for. Added on fries (which were battered?) and slaw (sweet, crispy and delish) for $1.59 more. See photo's 17 &19...Hubby ordered the gyro ($5.79), he said it was OK and I have to agree (we've had better) but it wasn't bad. He also got the added on fries and slaw for $1.59. See photo 18. All portions at this place are HUGE, more then enough to share. Our 3 1/2 yr. old did just that. The staff was super friendly, although they were packed, I mean packed which is a good thing, we were seated right away. Our drinks (sprite & sweet tea ) cost $1.89 ea with unlimited refills. Owner and staff alike checked on us several times, were always asking us if everything was ok and if we needing anything. Owner brought our son out two fresh baked chocolate chip cookies ( we didn't order...awesome! ) and another male waiter bought my son a lollipop, which I thought was really nice. All in all our experience was fantastic, we can't wait to go back again, especially for breakfast. BTW...they serve breakfast all day and the portion are enormous for what you pay. Pancakes bigger then your face, platters filled to the brim with good smelling food. Hey Sunrise Eatery, you got my business, can't wait to see you again :)

By far our favorite place to eat. We have a group that goes to a different place to eat every Wednesday. Tonight 24 of us went to Sunrise I was so proud of Manny and all his help they treated us all like family. The food was so good people had everything from just a piece of pie to a sea food platter everything was 5 star. If you have never been to Sunrise you are missing the very best in Central Florida. This was a 20 mile drive for us and worth every mile.

Be prepared to wait during Snowbird season. We were told it would be a 20 minute wait - and it was exactly that. We started with the tossed salad - it was fresh and the dressing was very good ( I had balsamic vinaigrette). I had turkey, dressing & mashed potatoes plus a very fresh hot biscuit. Everything was hot and fresh from the kitchen. This is good diner food. My only problem with it is it's too salty. Mashed potatoes were real mashed potatoes...and did I mention how good the biscuit was? My dinner companion rated the prime rib as average, he also had mashed potatoes. Portions are very large, lots of bang for your buck. We split a piece of banana cream pie. It was a whipped custards concoction- was pretty good but not what we expected. All in all - I would come back and hope for less salt.

Good food. Vegetarian options. Great service. Incredible value. Prices are extremely reasonable. Very busy place. When you are this good you are bound to be this busy. Even though they are busy. They get your order in very quickly. I love this place!

Oh So Delicious!! The pie is excellent - every one! Between us, we had the Reuben, the spinach pie, and the kids Mac. Spinach pie was the best, the Mac was normal but extra cheesey and the Reuben was typical. Terrific service

Great place, the service is fast and the portions are huge. It is nice to go to a locally owned establishment. The owner is on site and visits your table during every visit. The place is always slammed and you can tell it is a very well run operation.

Huge portion sizes and lots of options. Great family restaurant. It is small and you will probably have to wait for seating even if you call ahead.

The food here is wonderful. They guarantee that you will not leave hungry, and that is very true. The ambience there is as other reviewer's have stated. The management and staff are very accommodating. The portions are huge, way too much for one to consume. I will recommend anyone in the area, come give this place a try, you will not be disappointed.

I'm pretty sure all of the table were filled during our dinner at Sunrise, but that didn't stop the staff from making us feel right at home. I don't have any complaints at all. The restaurant is a fun little place with old timey decor and a family environment. Everything on the menu is delicious from what I've heard. Almost everything is under $10 and you get a large main course with three sides. I boxed my leftovers and had enough to eat for a full lunch the next day. We went with my grandparents who are regulars during their winter stay in Florida. The owner, Manny, knew them by name and made it a point to visit with us several time, as well as many of the other customers who were there. To top off the experience, he gave us two free pieces of pie (chocolate mousse and strawberry cheesecake), which was PLENTY for the 7 of us to share. One last thing, when I got to the car, I realized I forgot my leftovers on the table, but when I went back in, the table was already cleared and rest (bussers don't waste time!). I sadly walked back to the car, but to my amazement, our waitress came running out after me...with my leftovers! Sunrise is an above and beyond type place, and my first 5 star review goes to them.

Hubby and I eat No carbs for specific health reasons..when we ordered a plain protein and salad, Manny gave us a hard time stating that salad costs more money than peas.. WILL NOT GO THERE AGAIN

This place has great fried chicken. Atmosphere is pleasant and I love the 50's music they play. The staff is right on board in serving the guess, and Manny always makes us feel at home with his friendliness.

I'm not going to over inflate Manny's head as the rest of the reviews have. I take my mother here every time I visit zhills. Yes Manny is a nice guy and keeps a clean dinning room. For the past 3 years we've had an exceptional breakfast here. I took my wife here for breakfast today and our food and dinning experience had greatly depricated. I ordered a greek omlet which was tasty combination of ingredients, however the eggs were over cooked and dry. The wife ordered an egg and pancake meal. The pancakes were grainy and rough in texture. Not to mention serving cheep brown and serve greasy sausage patties that are served at every hotel free breakfast bar! Yuck..! Come on Manny your customers deserve better quality than this for $8 per meal.

OMG, the best breakfast I've had in years!!! Huge portions, great service, amazing fresh food! Food is fresh country/home style cooking! The manager was constantly walking around ensuring everyone was happy. Excellent!!!!

We were just driving through the little town of Zephyrhills on our way back to Homosassa from the Hillsborough River..... Yum! We are so lucky to have pulled into here. Not only were they quick to seat us, our server Vanessa was the sweetest and treated us as if we've been friends forever. Her recommendations were so helpful and we had the most amazing meal ever and the best time. Staff is attentive and friendly. We are from Miami, FL and we felt right at home in this small southern town. Love this place! Must go and make sure to save room for a slice of pie or strawberry cheesecake! It's a MUST!

Great service and traditional breakfast and lunch fare in this very popular local institution. Get the home made biscuits, you won't be disappointed.

  • Jeffrey D.

Food average (3stars). Service below average (2stars). Spinach Pie Plate looked and tasted like it had been frozen and then heated in a frying pan and over-cooked. Gravy on hot turkey sandwich way too spicy and salty with a very odd orange color. Biscuit tasted like fish. Server took my glass to give refill rather than giving me another glass (big no-no!). Also, they have huge, delicious-looking pies, but we never got to try one because the server never asked us if we wanted dessert...and we did! Worst- server hovered over us as we were leaving table to see what tip was left for him on charge receipt...very tacky!!! Do yourself a favor and drive a little further up 301 for better food, atmosphere, and service. Snowbirds get fooled...locals don't!!!

This is the best place to eat in Zephyrhills if you like good old home cooking. Prices are great and the food is terrific. Just know that you will probably wait in line no matter what time you go. This is where you will find all the locals. We love this place but don't get to eat here as much as we want because my husband doesn't like lines. Our very favorite place to eat. So if you are passing through you won't be disappointed eating here. P.S. The lines go fast.

The most popular place to eat in Zephyrhills. Why? Great food, huge portions, good service and cheap prices. The place is usually packed around breakfast and lunch time especially on Sundays after church. You may want to avoid those times but I've never had to wait more than 10 minutes for a table. The menu has many Greek selections. The open face fish sandwich is huge. A quality, clean well run restaurant. Free WI Fi. Beer and wine are served. Highly recommended.

Ordered sausage rounds, two scrambled eggs and home fries. Pretty easy meal to cook. Home fries were a bit too buttery for me but still delicious.

Best breakfast in Z-hills! Great service, tasty chow and a clean environment! There may be a bit of a wait but the staff is very good at flipping the tables and getting you served quickly.

Mine and my co-workers favorite place to get a huge, delicious greek salad. Portions are extremely generous, prices are very reasonable and the staff is always friendly. Overall a great place to grab lunch.

My party of 4 came on Easter and there was a big line and not a lot of parking. When we came inside, the host (who did not look happy) looked like management did not ask for our name she just gave us a card with a number, scanned the room, and said about 15 minutes and walked away. This place is very small and the table we sat at had ripped chair cushions (need to invest in some new chairs) and waiters and waitresses (including the host who looked like management) kept bumping into our table and chairs (could have said "excuse me"). The bathroom smelled terrible (someone could include a febreeze or install and air freshner). I ordered the two scoop salad with Tuna and potato salad with cole slaw and a different waitress brought the food out to the table. The potato salad tastes like the kind they put in Greek salads (with garlic) which was good but there was hardly any lettuce to eat all the giant 4 ice cream scoops with. The original waitress did not ask if I wanted dressing therefore, I did not receive dressing and had to request it. My sister ordered pancakes and the waitress did not bring any syrup or ask if there was something we needed until the original waitress came back. There was also no butter at the table. I did not get a single refill nor did the rest of my family. Very displeased. The manager asked how everything was and that was nice. I can see this place on that TV show with the muscular guy who comes in and fixes restaurants.

Good food, very nice staff. I believe the owner or manager roams while you are eating and always makes us feel at home. Super friendly an love their food. My favorite is the lasagna and Greek soulvalki dinner. It is delicious.

This place has quickly become one of my favorites! Great food! They have Greek, American, and Italian food, and it is all great! Portions are huge, enough to share or take home for another meal! The management is fantastic, so friendly, they treat you like family! Just wish they were open later, they close at 6pm in the winter and 3pm in the summer. Always busy, which tells you something too!

I've eaten here twice. Both times I ordered the gyro. It was pretty good, especially the wrap it came on. It was pretty big and very filling. I'm puzzled as to why it closes at 6 pm. We arrived at 5:55 and they let us come in. It was packed but it was a Friday night. I think they could do a lot more business if they were open later! It is obviously a family operated business...very good food and we had good service.
