So I've lived in Riverview for two years now and I've finally found my favorite pizza spot. Half cheese half pepperoni with extra cheese! A little greasy due to the extra cheese but that's to be expected. Nothing a few napkins couldn't take care of. As I took the first slice out the cheese stretched to the point where I had to grab it with my fingers and shove it in my mouth. I instantly new the pizza was going to be great! My wife and son both agreed that this is the best we've had yet in the Brandon area. I only hope they are consistent!

Nothing Special here. This pizza was nearly identical to Fermagios and Fish Hawk Pizza. Cheese isnt real. Sausage is sliced off of what tastes like a bratwurst. Not bad but certainly not memorable especially for the price.

This is the second time we have tried this pizza place. The pizza was good and the price was right. We ordered the 18" pepperoni pizza. We like the New York style and they make it pretty well. We have tried a lot of different places and this one ranks in the top of our list.

This review is based solely on the customer service provided by the owner Joel ... In early March my family was celebrating my son's 3rd birthday and to keep it simple we ordered pizza and wings from Joel's. My husband picked up the food and when he got home, we noticed they forgot all of the wings we ordered (20). I called that evening and the girl on the phone told me she was sorry and I would be credited back the amount on my card. I waited two weeks and didn't see the credit on my card, so I called Joel's back and was told I would have to speak with Joel about the issue and that he wasn't in. A few days later Joel finally got around to calling me and was 1) not apologetic at all about the issue and 2) told me I had to come in and manually swipe my card in order to be issued a refund (this is inconvenient, but I agree to come in ). The day I was supposed to go in, my son got sick at school and I had to pick him up and couldn't make it to Joel's. I called to speak with Joel about arranging another time, but he was gone. I have since left no less than four messages for Joel and he has failed to call me back. Two of the messages were left with a young girl in the evening and every time I spoke with her, she had an attitude. The girls I spoke with on other occasions were very nice. I don't know if his staff isn't giving him the messages (unlikely) or if Joel just doesn't care about his customers. Either way, we will never use Joel's again. I support local businesses, but not when they're ran the way Joel runs his shop. This matter could have been cleared up quickly with a simple apology and quick refund.

I have to give Joel's 5 stars because he never disappoints. Every time I go there, I've had something different and each time, they were spot on. I can tell the food is made fresh and does not come from frozen ingredients. The prices are the best I have ever seen. The place is small but quaint and the owner and wait staff come out to talk with us and ask us about the food. We went there last Saturday night at 9:15 PM. They close at 9:30 but they welcomed our visit regardless. Joel saw my 7 yr old daughter and asked if she would like to dance and sing. He played "Let It Go" on his computer for her. Service-Top notch Food-Delicious and prepared to perfection Prices-Better than average Cleanliness-Everything is clean, including the kitchen I'd have to say this is the best pizza in town.

Pizza was cold. Wings were undercooked. I don't understand how this establishment has the rating that it does. I'm sure the owner is very charming but the food itself doesnt stand alone.

Its ok. If you want to go and eat a slice, have a salad or have lunch, someone will talk to you (not desired when Im with my wife). Then I got lectured on the name of the place - not Joel....but JO-EL...Whatever. Im not sure how they survive based on location. I just wasn't wow-ed with their pizza Will I go back? Nah - I like dominos better

I couldn't tell you how the pizza is because I never got past the order of garlic knots....they were SO GOOD! I got another to go and they were still good the next day.

Excellent NY style pizza place that has a mom and pop feel. Prices are also reasonable.

Been eating here a couple times a month since they opened. Food is absolutely delicious, everything on the menu is worth trying. My favorite is the tortellini Alfredo! The atmosphere can use a little work, but otherwise a great place to have a slice.

I have been craving New York style pizza for a while and we were told to go to Joel's. I am so happy we went, the crust was crispy but had a good flavor and was not dry to say the least! I usually do not eat crust but Joel's was perfect. We got the meat lovers 18 inch which had a ton of fresh toppings and oozed with cheese. This was our cheat meal so after we ate about 2 slices a piece(we were truly full) we took the rest home and shared with our neighbor who had it the next day for lunch. She's from New York and loved it. We havel all planned to definitely go back ! Everyone was nice, knowledgeable and friendly. They made sure our cups were refilled without us having to ask and the have oregano and red peppers and parmesan which is a big plus, even though most restaurants carry parmesan and red pepper ,not many have oregano. It was a great experience, you will not be disappointed. I have been to many pizza places looking for New York style pizza and I can honestly say I can stop looking !

They have the best chicken wings! Pizza is okay! Gave them four stars for their wings!

My first time here I asked the gal at the counter the difference between Sicilian and their regular pizza, she said I think it's the spices. She thinks?! I asked if she would find out the difference. Turns out it square not round and a lot thicke. That's a pretty big difference! How can you have someone working the counter who doesn't know your menu? We opted for the regular. It was terrible! Way to thick to be considered NY style.

We love Joel's. We've been loyal pizza and wing customers for years. While I wish the veggies on the pizzas were a bit more cooked, you can't beat the size, price, flavor and quality of their cheese pizza. Their wings are delicious and well priced. We've had their greek salad which is good as well as their hot and cold subs. We've tried their pasta dishes but we are very picky about our sauces so we have stayed clear of them. Joel has even come in early on a Sunday to accommodate an order i placed for my kids' birthday party. If you haven't tried this place, you have to. We are from Boston and good pizza is a must :-). I hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

This little gem might be tucked away, but it is worth the trip. Very good pizza, fresh Greek salads, luscious pasta dishes, and the Zeppole (dessert) are a must have! Give it a try!

We had the Veggie Supreme pizza - excellent pizza. It was loaded with big chucks of all the veggies (including shrooms - online menu typo), a lightly applied but sweet sauce, elastic and flavorful cheese all sitting on firm, crisp crust. The atmosphere is relaxed. The NFL playoff game was on the TV while a family of loyal customers was conversing with Joel and crew. My wife and I happily stuffed our faces with warm garlic knots.

The food is delicious. Best pizza I've had in a while. New York style and great service. Has a mom and pops feel to it. Definitely something you want to try. I've tried lots of different things at this restaurant and leave happy every time.

I haven't been here since Feb and I was craving a Sicilian ( then again I always crave it) and my last experience was just ok but nearly 6 months have passed and I have become complacent and decided to give it another whirl. I picked it up and it felt good in my hands , usually a good and I do that use word lightly down here , usually if the pizza has some weight to it , generally its a good pizza. I looked at it on the way home and thought about grabbing a slice but it was still too hot and I somehow end up wearing food on me more times than not and Pizza is not something that washes out easily. Unfortunately I was deceived yet again , visually it looked decent but after one bite I realized I just purchased 16x16 of what amounted to as a cheese bread. Sauce was too light and there was way too much crust with no depth to it , it was overly crunchy air. Best way to describe the crust is when some ice cream places fill the ice cream with air to make it appear thicker than it really is. I ended up eating 3 pieces ( 3 is nothing I could easily eat a 12 slice ) on account I was turned off by it. Cheese wise it covered the pizza but it was only a thin layer of cheese , it was 1" in height but 90% of that 1" was crunchy air and a coating of sauce and what it amounted to just some flurries of cheese. I consider myself a pizza connoisseur and I am sure other people will think I am crazy but my experience holds a lot of merit. Having said that I am taking Joels off my list as one of the best in Tampa unfortunately. If you are a cheese bread fanatic then maybe his version will satisfy your craving. Btw , prior to me moving here ,I never had cheese bread especially as a menu option at a pizzeria, *** Overnight Update*** To be fair, this pizza was better the 2nd day so for this review I would give it 2.5 ~ 3 Stars. Heads Up: Joels if you haven't been there is located on the northeast corner of Bell Shoals and Bloomingdale Ave , its set back and is next to the Cheddar Biscuit.

We've been here twice: once for just pizza (which was awesome) and another time for a calzone and other menu items. Their garlic knots were to die for. My kids loved their kids options (chicken tenders and spaghetti) but I noticed there was only 1 meatball in there. Our food has always been tasty and it's definitely one of the nicer pizza places in the area. Especially if you only want a single slice. The girl who answered the phone and the man who greeted us were soooo nice. I will not order from the fast-food pizza places ever again, like Hungry Howies or Dominos because they talk a million miles an hour on the phone and their food is crap. Not Joel's. The price isn't expensive, either. We ordered a large calzone (which was enough for my hubby and I) an order of wings, an order of garlic knots, and two kids meals. $28. sweet!! The only negative I can tell you is that access to this place is not easy. There's only one way in and one way out, and then you have to worm your way through the parking lot to get to them. But it's worth it. Stop eating "hot n ready" crap - and eat some real PIZZA!

I go there for the gnocchi's, which are enough for dinner and lunch the next day. Really good sauce, and it comes with a salad, which most higher-priced Italian restaurants don't do anymore. Great value and great food.

Darn--Not the first to review! Ah well..this place is pretty amazing, but unfortunately it's in Brandon/Valrico, where all great non-chain eateries go to die. Hopefully Joel's stays open for a long time though, because they make an amazing pie..give it a shot some time, you unadventurous Brandon-ites. Put down that coupon for Pizza Hut or Papa John's, you won't regret it! :)

This place is the perfect place for those who wants a slice of pizza without buying the whole pie or buying a serving of eggplant or spaghetti without buying the family serving. If you want to buy the whole pie or the whole serving they sell those too. Also you can get stromboli and calzones here as well. This place blows all others away, the food is great, the service prompt and friendly, and this place is easy to get to. The Pizzas come in one size only, if you looking for a small pie here just put the rest in the fridge and have left overs. My wife and I ordered a NY style pizza, zucchini, and bruschetta. The pizza was perfect as was the zucchini, the bruschetta seemed like it was missing something. The only bad thing is they don't deliver, but we live right around the corner from this place so not a big deal. Will definitely go back here and would like to try the dinners and sandwiches they also have on the menu.

As a native New Yorker and vet, I have been around this country and tried pizza from many places. It is nice to finally find a place in Florida that can make pizza just like a pizzeria in the city. The crust is not too thick but definitely not a piece of cardboard. The sauce isn't too sweet and has great flavors, and their sizes are spot on. The service is very friendly and the indoor seating has a comfortable atmosphere with two TVs on the walls. We have tried other places in the area and have been disappointed. All I can say is that I recommend Joel's to anyone and everyone I come in contact with.

I've only tried the pizza, but I was very pleasantly surprised. It's definitely some of the best to be found in the Brandon/Valrico area. The crust is thin, crispy and delish; the toppings are generous; and the large pizza is HUGE. I only wish they delivered!

Great, great pizza. The best I have found in this area. The staff is so friendly that it feels like you are going to a neighbor's house for dinner. We love it.

You can tell when food is home made. Joel has the best lasagna and the best meatballs. Prices are very reasonable for the amount of food.
