    I was in Tampa for a conference, and my coworker and I had a break for lunch. We hadn't eaten breakfast, and were pretty much starving at this point. He wanted brunch, and I wanted a sandwich, so I found Zudar's on yelp, and we quickly walked over from the convention center in downtown. The place was packed when we got there, but we found a seat. Our waiter quickly came by, gave us water, and took our orders. He was so swift and was taking care of most of the dining area. I was so impressed by him, one of the best waiters I've ever had. Anyways, I ordered the cobb nosh sandwich with fries and it was comprised of whole wheat bread, smoked turkey, gouda, avocado, bacon, lettuce, tomato, and bleu cheese dressing aka everything I could ever want in a sandwich. The sandwich was one of the best deli sandwiches I've ever had. The fries were good, even better with a side of ranch dressing. After we finished eating, we went over to the dessert case, and I saw a bacon brownie, and I wanted to order it, but the waiter asked me if I wanted a dark chocolate, fudge, peanut butter, bacon brownie instead, and I was kind of in awe by what he said, so of course I said yes. Apparently, they didn't have any in the display case, so he went to the back to grab one for me. I ate it later in the hotel room, and it was one of the best baked goods I've ever eaten. It is a must try for those who enjoy bacon in their decadent desserts, like I do. Anyways, I couldn't recommend this place more.

    Bacon brownies. The sign had intrigued me and mocked me for two years and every time I went to Publix to do some light grocery shopping. No. I don't cook. You already know that. But I craft and serve incredible alcoholic libations. Isn't a Bloody Mary a meal on its own? Couldn't a cucumber gimlet adorned with basil and a sliced cucumber act as a liquid salad? If I only drink those... am I juicing? The sign bothered me. The deli says absolutely nothing in that corner. It is not ugly enough or pretty enough... it is just blah and there. Since I am observing the strictly-no-eating -out-a-lot counsel of my irrational accountant post tax day, I had to grocery shop. He had also advised me to never go grocery shopping while I am hungry. What is a girl to do? I was starving as I held my ecologically caring reusable grocery bags. As my platform heel stepped out of Aurora (Yes, I named my car), a Shakespearean existential question was asked: To eat or not to eat... To eat. Imagine all the money I was saving by not going into Publix famished and depressed. I would have paid for cases of twinkies. I would have bought and carried out ho-ho's (no pun intended. My friends were not with me). I might have kidnapped Sara Lee, Aunt Jemima and Ben and Jerry. No bueno! I casually crossed the street and entered Zudar's. The insignificant outside is misleading. The place was packed. There was one table of two left untouched and ready for me right at the front door. Was this the deli version of Ciro's Speakeasy? It was two o'clock and the place was a convention center for the hungry businessmen. Servers were running around taking orders, delivering food, answering phones and handing out bills. I tried to coyly reach the table in anonymity. It was not to happen. A table of six men (eating half sandwiches and a side of salad) turned and smiled. Up and down and up and down their eyes went. Had they confused me with Angelina Jolie? Maybe. I was having a really good hair day. I might have been pouting even. I knew the fascination with me would end the minute I ordered my food. The green-eyed foodie was with me so we ordered a mixed Reuben (corned beef hash and roast beef), a chicken parmesan sandwich, a side order of mac and cheese (because one can never have tried it enough. I want to be like a barista of the stuff. A macancheeserista.) We had promised to try the bacon brownies somehow too. Even when Zudar's was filled with costumers, the service pulled through. Those tables were turning fast. Within ten minutes we were eating our sandwiches and harassing one another picking out food from the other's plate. Great sandwiches. Huge. Wonderful value. The mac and cheese proved to be a slightly better version of the powdered Kraft one. Even the macaroni itself was a twin brother of the Kraft kind. Disillusioned. I asked for the brownies to go. It turned out that there was also one kind made with peanut butter and bacon. So we did order enough to sample them. I can't say if the experience of them while in the deli would have been any different. They were given to me individually wrapped in plastic wrap and they seemed cold and fudgey rather than brownish. Dense is an understatement. One tiny corner and the explosion of flavors left you baffled. The chocolate dissolves and you are left with serious bits of bacon and bacon fat slathered on the roof of your mouth. I believe these brownies are like one of those love or hate relationships. No matter how you look at them, when it is over you are bound to have a memorable aftertaste.

    I have to say I am really disappointed in the quality and quantity of food lately. Sandwiches look really good and then you realize it's all lettuce and bread. I ordered the brisket special on Tuesday and I regret not taking a picture. I literally had two thin slices of meat on Cuban bread. Did I mention there were probably 10 fries in the basket. The only plus is they have the best blue cheese dressing around and that's what got them the one star!

    I am so disappointed about what's happened to this place. It used to be an amazing deli. Today I ordered the grilled cheese and tomato soup. They bring my soup out totally separate from the sandwich, and the soup is cold. I finish my soup and the sandwich comes out, barely grilled. So really it's just cheese on bread. The wrong bread because I ordered wheat and they gave me white. I don't send food back because of the horror stories I've heard, so I ate a few bites then left. Will never go back.

    We grabbed a couple sandwiches and a slice a pie for take out and came away pleased. We each had the same sandwich: pastrami reuben w/slaw. These aren't NY deli style sandwiches that are too big too for in your mouth but they also aren't priced that way. Sandwiches were great and we'd definitely try some others on the menu. They come w/fries which suffered from sogginess but that's unavoidable w/takeout fries. We got a slice of the caramel turtle pie and that's what really elevates this place from a three-star-good rating to a four. It was delicious! Highly recommend getting a slice and I'm anxious to try some if the pies available. Service was friendly and we will definitely be returning for both sandwiches and pie (abd perhaps some homemade soup too!).

    Super cute little place, nothing special and in a kind of random location, but very easy to get to. Came here for breakfast. Nice selection, I love that they have frittatas! The best! Potatoes (red, the way breakfast potatoes should be) cooked just the way I like them. They have pumpernickel bread, which is my mom's favorite. The grits were a little watery but easily doctored up to taste. It's evident that everything is made from scratch. I'm looking forward to coming back for brunch and lunch.

    We come here a lot for work lunches. The food is always good. Everything from the sandwiches to the quiches and soups. The service is fast and friendly, which is perfect for quick lunches. The building & curb appeal are lacking, but the place is clean so it doesn't really matter. Parking can definitely be an issue so be prepared.

    Zudar's is one of those places that seems like it's been around forever. The waitress told us the sandwich menu has been around since 1959. They started in another location. We came for brunch on a Sunday. They just recently started opening on Sundays. The place was empty at noon. Not sure if it's because of its recent schedule change. I usually avoid places that are empty at lunch time. I mean, how good can they be if they're empty? Well, let me tell you, they can be good. Zudar's is not a fancy place. It's not divey either. They've fit almost 130 chairs in a relatively small rectangular establishment with a counter and a small kitchen in one corner. The place is clean and plain. I usually eat with my eyes first, meaning what I see when I walk in usually influences my opinion. Today they had a tomato corn soup and chicken noodle soup. I came accompanied, so we ordered one of each. Awesome. Good soup. Very homey taste. Would definitely order a bowl instead of a cup next time. They had quiche specials, but we opted for the omelettes. I was tempted by the sandwiches, and I will be back for those. There is no greater compliment I can pay a restaurant than to visit it again. There are too many option to eat out to waste on bad restaurants. This is not one of the bad ones. Our omelettes were nice and packed with goodness. Cooked to order just like we wanted them. The Cuban bread was not that good. I'm a stickler for good Cuban bread. I mean, it wasn't bad, but it wasn't Columbia good. If you are going to sell Cuban bread in Tampa, you gotta be prepared for extra scrutiny. I ordered Cuban cheese toast, and I found them a bit stingy with the cheese. I have to find something to complain about, don't I? They also offer pancakes, french toast, on egg platters with the usual suspects. Service was excellent, although we were the only ones there. Food took a little longer to get here than I would have liked, but since it's made to order I didn't mind. If I wanted fast food I would've gone to McDonald's. Check out the picture of that carrot cake! The Sunday menu is limited. I asked to see the regular menu and I noticed a lot more yummy choices. So I need to come back during the week. So I'm coming back. I won't hesitate to recommend this place to my friends.

    Was in the area during lunch and found this place on yelp. I ordered the toasted BLT to go. It was simple, fresh and delicious. The menu included sanwiches, entrees, soups and salads; everything sounds good. I will definitely continue to stop here when i am in the area.

    We showed up 1/2 hr before closing. Could not believe it, we were received so warmly and friendly. Actually, I was very surprised. Lots of establishments, not that I blame them. They tell you that they're about to close. Quite understandable after such a long day, and having to clean the kitchen before the night is over. Sarah greeted us, very warmly, friendlywith a big smile on her face. I thought I was in the twilight zone. She told us to not rush, take your time look at the menu. Since that was our first time there, And we walked to get there since they were across the street from where we live. You might say next-door to Publix that is on Bayshore and Platte Street, on the Bayshore side you can seeThe backside of Tampa General Hospital. I ordered the meatloaf and homemade mashed potatoes and coleslaw, and it was incredibly delicious. The meatloaf is the way I like The way I like to make mine, savory with lots of spices very moist. Not mushy and bland. Also, my favorite thing to top off meatloaf and mashed potatoes is BROWNNN HOMEMADE GRAVY! The coleslaw was fresh and it was D licious. They serve very generous portions. I took a box home with me, my husband had a sandwich that was HUGE! I do believe it was corn beef with OMG a lot of things in it sorry about that I can't remember the name right now. I will follow up on that one. He ordered fries that looked like steak fries. They were fresh crispy, just made. The owner Eric came in, he said he was a professional chef for many, many years and had just bought this restaurant. They had upgraded the patio outside, The concrete had just been poured to provide entertainment outside at night. Sometime now in October with live music. Well I can't wait this place gets really good reviews, not just the food not the atmosphere. But, the people that work there are fantastic. Before we left, Have the pleasure to meet the young man that was cooking in the back and he was a pleasure to speak with. This is quite an enjoyable evening. The best part is when good things happen when you're not expecting them. Thanks yelp!

    BREAKFAST was meh both times. Dry breakfast sandwich (I blame their Cuban bread), and while their potatoes and eggs are amazing their pancake left a lot to be desired- even the pancake syrup tastes weird! LUNCH: Great sandwiches, great fries! Good selection of beers.

    I really enjoy this place, just wish it was more accessible. So close to downtown you have to maneuver sometimes around the building to find a space, but not a big deal. I'm a huge fan of their food, and almost always get the Rollatini sandwich. I'll ask them to add horseradish and sometimes they add horseradish sauce instead... so I've learned to be clear about what I'm looking to get. Still, it's delicious. And if you have a large appetite, they have several fine deserts to try in the display case. However, I will call them out on their sweet tea. Watery to the point that you wonder why they're charging for it. Ask for a soda, a beer, or just water... because if you ask for their iced tea, you'll be disappointed.

    Came here with the family for a weekend lunch and to calm our curiosity. I have to say that the food was great and there is lots on the menu I will be returning to try. First off... crushed iced! I love crushed iced and when I saw it in my beverage I was sold! I order the Chicken Brie Special (grilled chicken, a slice of melted brie, crunchy granny smith apples on a roll) The chicken breast was not over seasoned or dry and all the flavors went well. My only disappointment with the sandwich was the honey mustard. There wasn't a lot of it but the flavor over powered the brie. Not that the sauce was bad but the sandwich could have done without it. My partner had the Meltdown and a cup of Hungarian Beef and Cabbage. He generously offered me a spoonful of the Hungarian and it was delicious. I wanted a bowl for myself as well as the recipe. Our daughter had the mac and cheese, applesauce and carrot sticks and she was not disappointed with her tray. With us it can be tough to find a place that has a Kids Menu that keeps a meal balanced with at least a veggie or something other than fries. We finished off with a slice of Coconut Cream Pie. I am glad that we all shared it because it was large enough to fill up three stomachs. Zudar's is definitely something you don't seem to find in Tampa. Coming from a large city with many delis, this place seems more neighborly and I am so glad it's not too far. Did I mention Kids Eat Free on Wednesdays after 5pm... busy moms can benefit from this especially in the middle of the week.

    The best Ruben I have ever had! The from the fresh baked bread to the French fries it was superb. I also tried their banana split pastry and wow it was great as well. The service was excellent as well. When I'm back in Tampa again this will be my first stop.

    I got the 1/2 chicken salad sandwich and 1/2 beef and cabbage soup. The soup was okay, nothing special at all. The chicken salad, however, was awful and weird. The Chocolate Fantasy Cake was AWESOME!!! The sweet tea even left a lot to be desired.

    Maybe I ordered the wrong thing. I was craving matzo ball soup and a Reuben sandwich. Well, they weren't serving matzo ball soup that day, so I just got the full Reuben sandwich. The rye bread was fine. There was maybe a smidge too much thousand island dressing. But the crime was that the corned beef was chewy. Every bite I attempted ended up being huge because it was hard for my (perfectly normal) teeth to cut through the meat. So while I found the portion good, I made a mess of myself and felt insanely awkward eating. The fries were underseasoned. The pickle was good. I'm still tempted to return, but I'll have to try something else. Maybe their pastrami is better made.

    The staff is great. I had places an order for the turkey dinner but was given the wrong dinner. Called back in and explained that my order was incorrect. They told me to come back and they will have it ready for me @ nc. oh yeah, the food is good too!

    tried Zudars with my girlfriend after a coworker Told me about it. We showed up mid afternoon around 3pm, their was 1 other table in the cafeteria area yet the Table we went to sit at (and several others around) were all dirty. We decided instead to take our lunch to go. I consider myself to be a bit of a Cuban sandwich aficionado and perhaps I'm jaded having eaten some of the best Cubans on the planet from La segunda and Michelle faedos but there is one sure thing you do NOT do and that's put Lettuce and tomato on a Cuban sandwich and this is what Zudars did. The sandwich, after I removed the lettuce and tomatoes, was mediocre at best, this is Tampa's signature food and if you have the balls to put it on your menu you have to do better. My girlfriend had the quesadilla, at best she described it as "not bad" it was uninspiring. For a side both of us had yellow rice and black beans, they weren't bad either, but something wasn't right with them, they tasted almost prepackaged or something microwaveable from Publix. The highlight of our meal was the Apple pie, if there is one thing Zudars seemed to get right it was this, very flavorful and very filling, top notch. At only 2 stars you would think I wouldn't go back, not the case, I'm willing to give Zudars a second chance. But if they cant fix their mistakes with the Cuban perhaps they should just be a bakery.

    I have only had dessert here. I had a piece of coconut cream pie. It was a very good size. I was able to split it with my cousin and my husband and that was plenty! The pudding part of the pie is very flavorful. The crust was a little on the thick side, but the filling and meringue was so tall that it balanced out the thicker crust. Now, the meringue...I'm not convinced it is a true meringue. It tasted more like cool whip fluffed with sugar. Maybe I'm just too used to my grandma's home made meringue. Either way, for $5 it was a very large piece of pie and tasted great!

    Zudar's is a local staple for great lunch. The prices for the portion sizes are spot on and in the over 20 times I've eaten here I've never had a bad meal. Some of my favorites are the Cobb Nosh sandwich...think bacon, avocado, and fresh turkey on your choice of bread. I also love the cobb and cuban salads. They are huge and usually last 2-3 meals. Their honey mustard dressing is to die for...if you like it sweet and thick like me! If you're craving some great pie look no further. I've enjoyed the coconut cream pie many times. The slices are big and always fresh! It's usually crowded for lunch, but the service moves fast, so don't be afraid to wait a few minutes. If you're really in a rush call ahead or grab one of the prepared items from the cooler, pay at the counter and be on your way. You won't be disappointed.

    I love Zudar's! Every time I've eaten here it has been great. The menu is big enough that you actually want to try something new each time you come in. I usually sit facing the dessert case so I can drool over the pies and cakes while I eat my lunch. Yum! They are worth the splurge. Sandwiches are consistent and great. Go for a specialty sandwich like the Cobb Nosh or the RBT Rollatini, with roast beef, turkey, sauteed mushrooms, cheese, bacon, and a dijon mustard/mayo blend grilled on sourdough bread. Sandwiches are served with crinkle fries but if you are so inclined you can trade those out for something else. I've also like Zudar's salads. The Ensalada de Cuba is eerily similar to the Columbia's 1905 salad. I also like the Southwestern Salad with grilled chicken, cucumbers, red peppers, avocado, pico de gallo, cheddar cheese, tortilla strips and a spicy ranch dressing. Desserts at Zudar's are a must for me. The Chocolate Fantasy Cake is insane. Layers of chocolate cake mixed with cream cheese/cheesecake with a thick chocolate fudge frosting and garnished with big chocolate shavings. The Mississippi Mud Pie is to die for too. You can get a little piece or a larger piece. Whichever one you go for, ask them to heat it up for you. It makes the marshmallows melt and it is fabulous. Trust me. I don't even like marshmallows. I have also used Zudar's take out service. It is quick and efficient. If you are in a hurry, there are usually some pre-made salads, etc. up front in the cooler case. Enjoy!!

    I LOVE ZUDARS, TOO. I always order the Meltdown which is amazing!! I love the garlic blue cheese dressing they make fresh. I dip my fries in it. We go to Zudars at least once a month because the sandwiches are fresh and tasty and the service is always friendly with a smile!! The Club salad is excellent, as well. Keep up the good work Zudars!!

    Staff was very friendly, menu had lots of options. We were looking for sandwiches to grab for a baseball game at U of Tampa. Bread was great and very fresh. Roast beef & BLT sandwiches were huge and delicious. Ham sandwich didn't have much meat but I'd definitely recommend this place.

    A very fine deli that modifies classic Jewish/Kosher classics with local Tampa tastes (hard to be full Kosher serving Cuban sandwiches with pork & ham). This is an old-time favorite recommended by native Tampa friends (thanks Lionel!) Glad we visited early for lunch because it packs up by noon. As a soup lover, I ordered the goulash soup that was very flavorful..and saw they have other options I intend to try, including Matzo ball. The sandwich selections covered all the Jewish deli specialty meats...corned beef, pastrami...maybe tongue too. Well made, heavy on meat and very tasty, served with chips & kosher dill. We resisted the sinfully tempting desserts....lots of tall cakes, cream pies, cheesecakes, cookies and other sweets. Noticed lots of take-out plus you can get family-sized entrees & sides to take home for dinner. And not far away you can get Cajun/Creole specials at Nola's, and drop in for a Black & Tan at 4 Green Fields Irish pub. Who needs the United Nations... I can experience international harmony in just a few blocks of Platt Street.

    This whole section of Tampa is cute! It was great to visit, even for work, and I would definitely consider this area if I ever lived in the city. And if I did just that, I'd be eating at Zudar's often! Their Cuban sandwich was amazing and the staff extremely welcoming. If you're headed somewhere and need to grab a bite to eat or you're planning to meet friends for a meal and need a suggestion, I highly recommend it.

    So much awesomeness.... I first met Didi Zudar about 25 years ago when she had a deli on Bay to Bay... and fell in love with her coconut creme pie then.... It was an occasional menu item then because the coconut is grated by hand and thats hard work. For my very first meal living back in Tampa, I decided to hit Zudar's up in hopes there might be a slice in the cooler... OMG. Its there every day now. The availability has improved, but nothing could improve the flavor of this slab of heaven. The rest of my visit was less exciting - due to a new waitress that goofed and gave me grilled chicken breast instead of chicken salad. I was hungry and in no mood to send it back - she was very nice so I went with it. The sandwich was good, but I would have ordered it with different toppings had I actually ordered that sammich. The only think keeping this from 5 stars was the ordering goof... and I'm certain that the next time I venture in that star will get added. I LOVE Didi's desserts, and the sammiches are awesome too.

    I can never seem to go wrong no matter what I order at Zudar's. Their famous hungarian beef and cabbage soup is like no other soup I have tried. It is just the right amount of both sweet and savory. Their salads are great, and huge! I tend to stick with the chef salad, and always end up bringing a good portion of it home. My favorite sandwich is hands down the smoked turkey special. The pumpernickel bread and avocado really make the sandwich what it is. Be sure to get there before 11:45 or after 1 if you want to miss the lunch rush. This place gets packed!

    Nearest to a Chicago style Jewish-ish (they serve piggy) deli that I've found in Tampa. Delectably enticing deserts at the front counter (dieters, chubbies, and diabetics beware) as well as quick grab-n-go salads and other nosh for the in-and-out crowd. I would drag my butt a mile (I live on Davis Island) over broke glass for their coconut cream pie:) Fortunately my butt-cheeks will remain unscathed due to the fact that Zudar's opens early and is open til 8pm during the week, lunch only on Saturday, closed Sunday (bummer). Prices are a smidge high considering the portions aren't huge but not unreasonable. Homemade flavor don't come cheap:) Fills up for lunch, try to get there 11ish if possible.

    It's like a Manhattan Jewish deli, just 1,100 miles south... The food is spectacular, and the sandwiches are fully customizable. Or, you can pick one of their concept sandwiches, salads, soups, etc. Their Cuban salad is DELICIOUS. They also have a fridge that has pre-made stuff that is just as good. As it's been noted, this place is usually slammed on a weekday lunch. I'd advise trying it either before or after the lunch rush, or sometime on Saturday (closed Sunday).

    Just finished eating a cuban sandwich from there. The quality of the meat and the serving size are both poor. The pork patty tasted like a bland piece of chewy rubber from a microwave. On top of that, you're paying twice as much half the serving of anywhere else I've been. You'll get a much better sandwich from a grocery store deli or even the premades at a gas station.

    Zudar's is usually a hot spot during the weekday with it being close to downtown. It can get busy, but I usually just order carry-out. The prices are on the tad expensive side, but the sandwiches are huge and will definitely fill your stomach. I haven't really been disappointed in any of their sandwiches. I haven't really tried anything else, but usually I don't hear any complaints about this place.

    I had a Greek sandwich on pumpernickle. It was large enough to split with another person! Stuffed with spinach, mushrooms, melted provolone and grilled. Not greasy at all. Coffee was fresh and refilled no extra charge. Service was friendly and prompt. Very clean and organized. Desserts are homemade too! The prices are right, can't go wrong.

    try THE COBB NOSH it doesn't disappoint.. and gosh..there's such an array of desserts to pick from.. the service is quick and friendly.. the seating will be tight during peak times.. so do keep that in mind..

    3 times already that I tried this place, Bfast, Lunch and Dinner and Far more exceeded my expectations for a simple cafe restaurant. The food is delicious no matter what time of day I come in and the service is awesome from Morning to a very late dinner. Staff always smiling and welcoming and always check on you if everything is fine while eating. Excellent service and big parking by space on the side of the restaurant as W.Platt street is one way. Best experience was we had a last Minute surprise guest at 8am and i don't have anything to offer so I told my guest to go to Zudars down the street and will have a breakfast. My guest was a very picky person when it comes to food and they were both happy and satisfied that they even insist to pay for the meal...Happy Meal Happy friends! Thanks Zudar for the consistent delivery of delicious food...E

    Yummy! I'm a fan. I had a delicious grilled cheese for take out one day- chose Cuban bread with cheddar and gouda. Then returned for brunch on the patio with a friend of mine. Everything was delicious and our server was attentive and very helpful. I will definitely return!

    Really wanted to like this place because I live nearby. I have had a decent Cuban there and have seen others with breakfasts that looked good. 2 stars because I had the worst bagel with salmon/lox EVER. To make matters worse, it cost $12... Was craving an everything bagel with cream cheese and salmon and it is nearly impossible to find one in South Tampa. Everything bagel came out toasted but cold with a little container of Philadelphia cream cheese on the side. The salmon was either spoiled or cooked-was not translucent reddish pink but was cooked salmon color of pink and smelled VERY fishy. It also had a lot of those dark chewier areas. The plate of food visibly looked bad and I don't think they should have even brought it to the table. Made me lose my appetite. Zudar's would have done better to not doll up the salmon bagel as a "platter" with tomatoes and lettuce I didn't want. I don't even need the bagel toasted-just smear on some cream cheese and put the FRESH salmon on there and have it just come out like that and cost $7. If people don't order this enough and the salmon sits around and gets old and gross and fishy, just take it off the menu so no one will be tempted into buying it!

    I am so shocked by the high star rating this restaurant has. When we called to place an order for delivery the lady who answered the phone said to call a different number and was annoyed when we asked her to give us all the digits (including area code - we're in from out of town). We ordered the Cuban and the chicken quesadilla. The Cuban was dry and flavorless and the meat was kinda gross. The quesadilla was also flavorless and hardly had any cheese on it. My wife found plastic wrap in her Cuban sandwich. I would strongly recommend choosing something else!

    This is the greatest little neighborhood restaurant ever. I live nearby and can walk over for take out meals. The ambience is so quaint and welcoming. The staff is always the nicest, and the food always makes me feel like my mother would be proud of my eating choices. The Reuben sandwich is amazing, and another favorite of mine is the steak medallion platter. Love this place!

    We've had sandwiches for take-out from Zudar's several times which were excellent, so we thought breakfast would be good too. We were wrong. My wife and I both ordered eggs over medium which were just that. However, her grits were served cold and runny. The server cheerfully ran them through the microwave which rendered them hot and runny. My potatoes were undercooked and her rye and my wheat toast were both cold and hard. But the worst part of the meal, by far, was the coffee. It had a bitterness and a certain burned quality the was most unpleasant. We thought perhaps we had gotten the bottom of the pot but, again, our server was happy to exchange both cups for ones from a different pot. We can only assume that this is how Zudar's makes their coffee. Neither of us finished a full cup. The tab was $17., the service was good, the food, not so much.

    Well.... I wanted to like this place. They are under construction, which is no big deal, but the service was just sub par. My fiancé and I are new to the area and wanted to try this place. The food was okay. Nothing to write home about. The gentleman behind us found a hair in his food and the cheese he ordered was incorrect- Swiss but he got cheddar. The gentleman who was serving us was completely "weeded" with four tables and copped an attitude with someone on the phone who was ordering to go food. Not likely we will return.

    I am giving this place a good rating. We had breakfast here after eating hotel food on previous days. We like local places, and this one is a gem. Great service, very friendly. The food was good quality and very well prepared. I wish I could return tomorrow, but alas, I had a flight to catch. Pity. Great place. Great experience.

    Just discovered this gem after grabbing a quick lunch with a friend! This is a feel good local spot hiding among the tall buildings downtown. They have an awesome lunch menu - your standard lunch sandwich and chips or salad type stuff. Plus the added bonus of fresh baked goodies for dessert! Good quality & fast service! Can't wait to com back!

    This is a nice lunch spot. I like the variety of sandwiches. I had the chicken parmesan sandwich with fries...it was good..could've used more.marinara sauce, and the sweet tea could be sweeter. The prices were legit. Wish they had lunch specials though. Also the service was good. I'd definitely go back to try other stuff.

    I don't know why everybody loves this place. It was dirty. and I ordered soup and sandwich the soup was cold. The waitress brought me out a different soup and it was lukewarm. Even my iced tea tasted old. I did not have any pie. I like Wrights deli much better.

    I hate to go against the average 4 stars but this was not a good showing. Cold fries tough pork on the dry Cuban and cd soup! I will give it another go given all the great ratings but this experience did not rate at all.

    I've been in Tampa for about a year and heard rave reviews so we decided to stop in before our Saturday (or was it Sunday) began. Man, was I let down. My bagel was dry as a cracker with lackluster lox (smoked salmon I'm sure they didn't smoke), service was meh, decor was beige in the literal and figurative way. I guess I was hoping for more of an authentic diner/brunch, local hang thing when we really only got a below-average everything. This place gets great reviews so take mine with a grain of salt. But I'd for sure avoid the lox and bagel...

    I swear I dream about the Cobb salad from Zudars! Great flavor and HUGE portion (which usually lasts for 2 meals). Consistently delicious. I have aslo gotten the traditional cuban sandwich. My sandwich came with fries that are on par with the type that you buy in a grocery store and bake, I expected better. The sandwich itself was average at best. I still think they are worth a 3rd trip and will try something else!

    Zudar's has a really nice menu and always has interesting specials along with about 4 soups. I had the classic reuben and it was very tasty. Lots of sauerkraut and grilled perfectly. Zudar's also offers turkey reubens and an option to sub out the sauerkraut for cole slaw. The fries were ok, just standard. No pickle, which I think should always been included! I also sampled the Cobb Nosh which was really good. It had all the elements of a Cobb salad on whole wheat bread - turkey, gouda, bacon, avocado, lettuce, tomato and blue cheese dressing.
