High Cholesterol at Zaxby's

If you are supposed to restrict your calorie count, then try any of the zalads and club it up with a sandwich to fill your stomach with delicious food. To curb the cravings for deep fried food, opt for a small portion (5) of boneless wings and chicken fingerz.

Instead of ordering fried chicken wing servings, you can always request for a grilled sandwich with lettuce, onion, and tomatoes to counter high cholesterol. A sandwich calorie count can range between 900 to 1600 calorie which can be reduced by asking for healthier options.

Foods to Avoid at Zaxby's for High Cholesterol

Salads are often great and considered healthy. However, if you have high cholesterol, then you must be careful while ordering salads or shall we say Zalads at Zaxby's. Fried Cobb salad contains high-fat content which can spike your LDL cholesterol levels. Most food items on Zaxby's menu are high in fat content if you increase the quantity. Instead of opting for 10 or 20 chicken wings from the menu, opt for 5 traditional chicken wings to control your cholesterol balance.

I LOVE me some Zaxby's Zalads. Their House Zalad is fantastic, with cucumber, tomato and crispy onion, it makes for 2 delicious meals. Add to that some zesty fried mushrooms and life is good! The seasoning on their fries is perhaps the best around - though I've noticed that Universal uses something very similar!

Zaxby's is one of the better choices for fast-food in my opinion. The staff at this location leaves much to be desired, but the food is up to the chain's standards. The chicken finger plate is my usual order. It comes with chicken fingers, seasoned crinkle fries, coleslaw, and a piece of garlic bread. You also can choose a sauce to go with your chicken. The chicken is always very tender and the seasoning on the fries is great. I've also enjoyed the fried white cheddar bites as a side. I've never had it, but there's a birthday cake milkshake on the menu that sounds delicious. Plus as an added bonus, you get a card for a free Chicken Nibbler on your birthday if you sign up for their mailing list! It might not be the healthiest option (unless you get a Zalad with no chicken and no dressing..), but Zaxby's sure does taste pretty good!

I lived in Atlanta for 16 years and I have been to Zaxby's several times. My friends that went to UGA in Athens, GA love this place. I think they have a good quality product, and generally speaking a clean environment. I tried the location on Waters and Dale Mabry and the product is consistent. They have a plate called Wings and Things. I supersized it and had a bunch of wings, chicken tenders, French fries, celery and Texas toast. I paid around $10 and it was definitely a lot of food. The chicken tenders were excellent!!! great flavor, moist and...well, tender. The chicken wings were really good, they have 9 different flavors and I went with the Tongue torch, equivalent to a Buffalo sauce. I'd have them again. French fries....good, toast... good. In an objective review I would give them 4 stars. I believe the price for the wings is more consistent with that of a larger restaurant where you get full service; although they make an effort to have a nice décor inside, it's really a fast food restaurant. Now...what's up with that poster at the entrance of the Serengeti in Africa and a feline violently biting into a Zebra? I thought that was a little disturbing. My ex is vegetarian and I used to go with her to Zaxby's and she would have a grilled cheese. If she would have gotten to this store we would have had to turn around and look for some other place. This is an opinion and a very personal judgment that might not affect other customers. I would recommend their chicken tenders and their wings, and I can see myself at the Drive Thru picking some up again.

Zaxby's is a southern fast-food chicken joint that specializes in zesty fresh chicken wings, strips, salads, sandwiches and so on. Founded in Statesboro, Georgia back in the 90s, Zaxby's has expanded to locations in about a dozen states around the southeastern US. They have a bunch of different sandwich baskets and meal deals, but I always equate Zaxby's with spicy chicken wings and boneless strips. The chicken meat is cut fresh off the bird and served as boneless chicken strips, instead of being pressed into little.....ummmmm.....nuggets. The wings are then seasoned according to your taste and served with a variety of dipping sauces. You can also order fries, onion rings, fried mushrooms, a side salad, and Texas toast as sides. Oh, and please don't forget the amazing milkshakes and "dessert drinks" which you'll see advertised on TV in between the commercials for their chicken salads. Yeah, you're probably gonna blow your entire caloric intake for the month in one sitting, but the food is mighty tasty, the restaurant is clean, and the staff is friendly. Go ahead, we won't tell if you cheat on your diet!

I was very disappointed in this place. They messed up my order 2-3 times and I kept having to go back. My meal was kind of cold, the coleslaw was warm like it has been sitting out for awhile, French fries were soggy, chicken tenders were pretty good, onion rings overdone. Overall I just felt like this was a bad experience. Maybe it was just the day because it was super busy, that doesn't excuse them but I will give them another try and update my review then.

I had never heard of this place until last year. Since then I have gone back & still received the same nice and fast service. Southern Georgia hospitality. The food is amazing and is always fresh, a plus since most times it's reheated or left out too long in other fast food restaurants. Best Ice, chicken and the mozzarella bites are amazing too. If you're in the area give it a try it won't disappoint.

I dig it! The wings were really good and the price was cool for a broke grad student like myself. I was a little upset because I only got 4 wings when I was suppose to get 5 (0_o don't mess with my food)... so of course, I had a friend (not me because I'm a fake thug) go back to get my 1 hot wing lol ... they gave me a fresh order of wings to make up for it X-) ... #brokecollegestudentswag

Most disgusting wings I have ever had in my life! Totally nasty! I have the worst stomach ache in the world now. They don't even have blue cheese dipping sauce, WTF?!

The food was pretty good for quick serve. They did get the order wrong but the customer service made the wrong right. Salad was fresh & tasty. Husband enjoy the Buffalo wings. They were not the best but not the worst.

I'm revising my original review from 1 to 3 stars. I may have been a bit too harsh on my criticism. After reading other Yelper's reviews, I decided to go back today with several coworkers. I came at this with a different frame of mind. Zaxby's is not the place you go to eat healthy, nor do they claim to be. I came at it as Zaxby's vs Chick-Fil-A. And in that respect, I decided to revise my rating. I still prefer Chick-Fil-A, but there is a lot to like at Zaxby's. I got their Nibblers plate today, and also ordered cheese bites, fried pickles and Texas toast to share. I still think the deep frier needs some work. The fries could be crispier. The cole slaw was good, and I am a fan of the cheese bites. The chicken was good. I find Chick-Fil-A's to be juicier. But it wasn't bad at all, certainly not deserving of the 1 star review I gave it before. So, bottom line, although I expect to go to Chick-Fil-A more often, I would not hesitate to stop here if the opportunity presented itself. I'm not quite a fan, but I'll say they are A-OK.

The food here is edible, but unimpressive. I really don't know what else I can say about the place. I did hear "Let the Rhythm Hit 'Em" by Eric B. & Rakim playing thru their PA system while I was eating though. That was the high point of my meal.

Well after months of my baby Vikki telling me how much she loves this place I finally got a chance to go yesterday and uhhh well they suck!!! Now first thing first I only had wings and fries because when we drove up they have a big sign that says "real chicken" so that's must be there claim to fame so I went with bbq wings. Now the food comes out and it's on a lil tray and I'm looking for the wings they were super small and it looked like they hand counted the fries lol it had to be 15 french fries on my tray lol. Bottom line zaxbys failed to impress me big time the wings were just okay im not a fan of unbreaded wings the flavor wasn't there and it was just okay...

Finally a wing spot I love. When I was first introduced to Zaxbys was in Leesbergh Georgia where I chomped into those treaty hot honey mustard wings like no other. They have a new one here in Tampa. Its a little far out but I guess this is one of the perks her ok Tampa. Good seasoned crinkle fries and freash tasty wings with fast fried service what more can you ask for. Yay new lunch spot.

So long KFC, hello to the new generation of fast-food chicken joint, ZAXBY'S! The new chicken joint has just opened up for a few months, and I've been there every month for the few months its been open! Kudos to a fellow food-loving co-worker who introduced me to Zaxby's. Well decorated, perfect for those who enjoy sports as they mount several sports photos and plasma T.Vs all around the building. Menu obviously consists of chicken, chicken sandwiches, popular wings(variety of sauces), fried pickles, etc. If you're bombard with the menu and unsure of what to order, try their Most Popular list and go for Wings & Things (several wings, chicken strips, french fries, celery, & sauce). A-d-d-i-c-t-i-n-g Price is oh so reasonable :) A great place for chicken lovers who's sick of the old KFC!

I guess I shouldn't be too hard on them... it is in fact "fast food" after all. We were looking for somewhere new and quick and this seemed to fit the bill. At first, it seemed that everything was fried, except for the token gilled chicken sandwich and the salad. My wife and I had the chicken tender plate and to be honest the chicken was good and the Zaxby's sauce added something as well. The fries however were greasy and limp and the "garlic toast" was mushy and over salted. I was looking forward the chocolate shake, but that too was "icy." The restaurant itself had a nice atmosphere with high booths and kitschy decorations...don't get me started on the poster of the lion tearing at a bloody zebra as you walk in the door! I know this is Florida and places feel they need to have the AC down to 20 below, but in addition they also had all the ceiling fans (12) turned up to eleven. That made it seemed like we were in for a typical Florida hurricane. As I write this... 4 hours later, I can still smell the greasy smell in my clothes. On the whole it could have been a lot better, but I am not ruling out another visit to see if they have gotten any better. Michelle seems to really like them.

Chicken finger plate is always my go to option. Delicious crinkle fries and the Zax sauce in the best! The House salad is a nice healthy choice, just hold the texas toast!

This is my first visit. I got the grilled chicken sandwhich and onion rings. The grilled chicken tasted good. Avoid onion rings. They were thin battered rings - mostly batter and little onion. Average food.

I got the wings and the white cheddar cheese bites. Both were good. I got take out, but the restaurant seemed to be very clean. The employees were nice as well. Will be back to try more of their chicken. I also noticed they have Otis spunkmeyer cookies but did not get any.

First time trying this place. The restaurant was clean and there were many to go orders coming in and out of the door. My friend and myself both had the chicken wings and chicken fingers with fries and celery. The chicken fingers were delicious! Moist, tender and not greasy. The chicken wings were less than desireable. They were small, greasy and the sauce (hot) wasn't tasty at all. I would give the wings a 0 but can't. The fries were average but a bit salty for my taste. The toasted bread was good as was the crisp celery. Their signature sauces were, lack luster at best. It was $25.00 for both of us which is on the steep side for this quality food. I think a better choice would definitely be Chick-a- filet!
