Got the turkey/cranberry croissant with the Greek potato salad. Pretty good sandwich and great side. Staff was pleasant for my to-go order.

This place is great. It's extremely unique and nothing about the food here is bad. I always have a chopped greek salad, the soups are good too. It's extremely vegan/vegetarian friendly and I've never had a bad meal here. It's located close to the high school in a strip mall, their menu is fairly inexpensive and they offer a good soup&salad serving. The small salad is pretty big and filling. I suggest anyone who enjoys salad to come here and eat a chopped salad, if you're vegan skip the feta cheese but the salad is delicious. very health friendly and an overall great place, my friends/family have been coming here for years and the only complaint is that the decor is outdated and needs to be updated if they really wanted to pick up business. This place looks like my grandma's dining room.

What an amazing hidden gem! Every time we come we get the exact same thing...key west chicken salad and chicken feta soup. Its AWESOME! Everything else looks amazing also but we just cant stop eating our same meal :)

My friend and I were out exploring vintage/furniture shops in Tampa and got a verbal rec to eat here. It is unassuming, but been there a long time we were told. Spit on for lunch! Great home made soups and creative sammies. Enjoy!

So, we don't have a "My Friend's Place" and this is what it's like....right here at Woody's. It's got great sandwiches - my favorite is 1/2 tuna salad and 1/2 egg salad on rye. Their soups are great too - I'm always trying new soups, whatever they've got, I'll try it. Lentil, mediterranean with chicken/lemon.... But back to the sandwiches - they have a great selection and is always fresh. Is a quick bite and during lunchtime, will build up quite a line. But I've never seen it out the door, but it probably happens. The interior could use some sprucing up - the flooring should probably be replaced with wood or stone or tile. Carpeting is so passe. The place is nice, though, the food is even better and the price is right on!

This counter service restaurant is popular around lunch time. We ordered the Lemon Chicken Feta Orzo soup and Chopped Greek salad. The ingredients are fresh and the flavor combinations are delicious. The restaurant is clean and there are lots of tables. Parking can be a challenge but there are spaces in front of and behind the restaurant.

I am a soup whore. I love soup on any given day whether it is 90 or 30 degrees outside. Woody's has the word "salads" in their name, but they are known more for their soups. Today I was feeling under the weather so I ventured to Woody's for some soup. I ordered the Chinese Mushroom and the Armenian Lentil soups today. Both were tasty but the Chinese Mushroom has become my favorite! All the soups they offer here are delicious. My other favorites are the Lasagna Soup and the Lemon Chicken & Feta. I definitely want to come back and try some of their other soups and their salads. The staff is very friendly. The restaurant is clean. Be mindful though, the restaurant tends to get packed after 11:30. Also, Woody's may or may not run out of their soups for the day. Once they are gone, they're gone. Woody's posts their Soups of the Day on the Facebook page which can be found here: facebook.com/pages/Woody… Give them a try - it will be well worth your time.

Quick Summary: Refreshing and lighter lunch foods, a bit dated in the interior but still a yummy lunch. The food is fresh and so very delicious! The sandwiches are packed full of meat and fills you up nicely. My personal favorite was the Lemon Chick Feta Soup.... sooo ridiculously good. I know it can get a bit hot and humid for soup some times, but i love soup and I love this soup! Definitely a great spot to stop in for lunch, careful parking can get a bit hectic!

Just another example of how Yelp makes me realize I have driven past a place for years and never even knew it was there. First of all, I love any sandwich place that gives multiple bread options including sliced. Sorry, but ALL sandwiches do not play well on hoagie rolls. My egg salad on marble rye (Insert your own Seinfeld joke here) was so fresh and big enough for two people to share. Because it is in the title of the business, I had to have one of their famous salads and the chef salad was enough for THREE people to share. Again, freshness in all the ingredients was so obvious in look and taste. Plenty of salad dressings too, like the tangy tomato bacon basil. Employees are so nice, although they should tell you NOT to go to the back for Take-Out if there's a sign back there saying that window is closed. Oh, the soups looked really good, and I have some food remorse that I didn't grab at least 12 ounces of the lemon chicken or lasagna for later. Their "dining room" is wide open and more resembles a condo community room right down to the older indoor/outdoor carpeting. No wonder most people using it seemed of the Del Boca Vista demographic where Jerry's parents live in Florida (Sorry for the second Seinfeld reference, but I swear I walked past Jack Klompus as I went out the front door).

Came in for lunch on a Saturday because the reviews basically proclaim this to be a salad lovers paradise & well I eat salads every single day & felt shame for not knowing such a place existed 5mins away from my home! I had the highly recommended chopped Greek Salad (large) - it was very fresh and perfectly dressed! Not the largest chopped salad I've ever had, truly on the smaller end) but everything about it, including the potato salad was perfect. I must say I was hungry within an hour of leaving... but I look froward to coming back and having a soup as well! They advertise NO MSG! Overall: Sweet people, Fresh food, quick service & like a previous reviewer stated, looks like grandmas dining room when you walk in.

The famous chopped Greek salad and the lemon chicken feta soup are absolutely delicious. I could eat the salad on the daily. They are EXTREMELY quick and know how to move customers through the lunch rush. The owner is nice and always walking around or opening the door for guests. Best place around, please make my wish come true and start delivering! :)

I went with my friend a few weeks ago and got the chicken wrap. It was really good. The inside has many little tables and was fairly busy when I was there, but that means people like it! My food was really good and fairly priced! Nice little local shop if you're into that thing.

Amazing food! And everyone EXCEPT the woman who handles to-go orders is extremely friendly. If I order my sandwich with anything other than the way it comes she gets an attitude- EVERY TIME. Order the same thing at the front and never have any problems whatsoever.

My friend and I stopped in here one day for lunch while out shopping. I had the lemon chicken with feta soup and it was amazing! I also tried the Bleu Max - Boar's Head Roast Beef & Boar's Head Bleu Cheese Sauce with Leaf Lettuce, Tomatoes, Onions and Cucumbers on your choice of bread. Delicious. Very nice little cafe for soups and sandwiches.

I love this place. It is the perfect lunch spot with fabulous soups and fresh salads. The lemon chicken feta soup is likely the best soup I have ever tasted. The lentil is also amazing. I love their chopped greek salad - you can ask them to make it without the weird Tampa Bay potato salad - such a bizarre local custom! I have heard their sandwiches are also great but I always, always order the soup and salad because it is so amazing!!

There are reasons why Woody's remains a South Tampa favorite. Any place that has egg salad sandwiches served with beautiful red tomatoes and piled high enough on my choice of bread (marble for me, please) AND has to have a toothpick to keep it all from tumblin' down is always going to have a place in my heart. I've tried soups, salads, sandwiches and wraps throughout the years but the egg salad sandwich and the Spinach & Strawberries Salad made with bright berries, crispy spinach and homemade poppy seed dressing (so delicious) just seem to pop out of my mouth most times when I place an order. The dining room is casual and can be filled with shirt-and-tie guys, ladies surrounded by strollers, women who look the part of a matriarch and fresh-from-the-gym guys and gals. The food is tasty, seems to be freshly made and is provided in more than adequate - but not over-the-top - portions and the service is typically crisp and polite.

Woody's is my FAVORITE lunch spot in South Tampa! Everything is excellent, from the food to the service. I love the family ambiance of the place and the owner is friendly, helpful, and even remembers me every time I come in! Their chopped Greek salads and lemon chicken feta soup are my favorites. The ingredients are always fresh and flavorful. Woody's is usually my Friday-go-to spot for lunch, but I try to go as often as I can. Thumbs up Woody's!!

Woody's is one of my absolute favorite lunch places in Tampa. I drive in once every week or two from downtown Tampa. I've tried a few things here, but I always seem to stick to the same thing: lunch combo with lemon feta chicken soup (best soup I've ever had!) and the chopped greek. Really, really great place. Everything is always fresh and homemade. Plenty of parking in the back if you can't find anything out front.

I'm surprised there aren't more reviews on this place as it's considered a Tampa institution! I finally had the chance to try this cute little place out today for lunch. It's located in a strip mall on South Dale Mabry that also features a few other local faves so it's in a prime location. Parking wasn't bad and apparently they have lots of space in the back too. My friend ordered the greek salad which she said was awesome and the Armenian lentil soup. She also said that was tasty and it looked super rich and hot. When it comes to soup, you can never serve it too hot, in my opinion. I ordered a deli style sandwich on wheat bread. The tomatoes were bright red and the turkey was piles so high I could barely fit it in my mouth. Don't worry, I made it work. The cheese was that good deli cheese too. None of that pre-packaged crap. I LOVE a sandwich and this was top notch. It's no wonder this is a local fave. I'll be going back for sure!

So friendly and so good! The service is amazing and they have a real small town feel! Asked my name and got to know me a bit. Boars head meats yum! The cheese, lettuce and bread, really all ingredients are super fresh. The servings are large and thru will customize any item to the way you request! I love it!

Woody's was recommended to me by a co-worker one day for a fantastic soup, salad, and sandwhich place that was nearby. So I gave it a chance and have been in love ever since. I have tried many items and been happy every time. Although, my favorite is the Buccaneer. The Buccaneer is a great roast beef sandwhich on an onion roll with an amazing bacon basil tomatoe sauce. Then my favorite salad is the chopped greek, simply done and amazing. They have a variety of soups that change daily, although my favorite is the Israeli Chowder and Aremenian Lentil. Highly recommend this place. You won't be disappointed.

I can only review their Greek salad because it is so good I can't bring myself to try anything else! Made in the typical Tampa way with a scoop of potato salad hidden within, it is consistently fresh and delicious. I prefer mine chopped, and I always get either the large, or a small with extra potato salad. The small is a generous portion. I really should try some other things, I bet I'll make some new favorites. They have lots of salads, soups and sandwiches. I only have one complaint: they aren't open enough! They close at 6 pm, 4 pm on Saturday, and are closed on Sunday. I guess that is the price to be paid for food that is always good in a really clean and friendly atmosphere!

One of my go to places for salads. My favorite is the Asian Chicken Salad: Spring Lettuce, Marinated White Chicken Breast, Shredded Carrots, Shredded Cucumbers, Rice Noodles, Peanuts, Sesame Seeds with our Soy Sesame Ginger Lime Dressing. It reminds me of a modified version of the Vietnamese noodle salads (Bun), except with way less rice vermicelli and a different type of sauce/dressing. The portion is a bit on the smaller side, but I guess that's not saying much because I have a bigger appetite than most. Anyway, nothing really blew me away, but it is still a solid place to get salads. I haven't tried their sandwiches yet, but I'm sure they're good as well.

I don't care a lot for this place. I went once and had a tuna salad sandwich and a cup of scallop soup. The vegetables or the scallops or both were so mushy I couldn't distinguish between them. The tuna sandwich was good but the bread was not what I expected. It was a Cuban roll but it may as well have been a hoagie roll from Subway. Nothing special there. For the price at lunch, I doubt I'll be back.

Woody's is one of my regular South Tampa lunch spots, offering quintessential sandwich shop food-- soups, salads, hot and cold sandwiches. I usually order the spinach, feta, strawberry salad with grilled chicken. It is delicious, fresh and the portion size is generous. My daughter loves the Turkey and Swiss wrap, sliced turkey and swiss served warm in a whole wheat wrap. My son's favorite is their Brooklyn Boy roast beef sandwich. The Key West chicken salad sandwich is a wonderful mix of cold chicken, pineapple, almonds, celery and raisins in a yogurt curry sauce. Great on marble rye. A past reviewer remarked that the environment reminded them of a 1980's office interior and I agree-- it could use some up dating but it is always clean and that goes a long way with me. The counter help always seems frazzled but they are not rude, just harried. Lunch time can be quite busy. If you' re in a rush, phone in your order and pick it up at the take out window. If you live in the area, you WILL run into someone you know whether you go to Plant, work in an office or simply drive in a carpool. What I appreciate most is the wide sandwich selection -- there's something for everyone-- and the fact that the quality is consistent-- you know what your going to get: a fresh, tasty, solid lunch.

I stopped by for a drink and a sandwich while waiting for someone to jump start my car (stupid battery). The inside needs to be cleaned up some... It's a bit dated. The Cuban sandwich was really heavy on the mustard and wasn't as crunchy as I like them. It was nothing special. The girl who served me was nice though.

I tried the chopped Greek salad and was very pleased. My wife had a Chinese chicken salad that I had a bite of and it was very tasty. They do a swift business and I may be more inclined to take it out rather than dine in next time, it's no frills in that regard. But, if you want a very good Greek salad...go for it.

  • Jim B.

Those of us from Tampa know that potato salad in a Greek Salad was an innovation / creation of the Pappas restaurants in Tarpon Springs. As a result, its hard to find a Greek Salad in the area without potato salad in the bottom, and I, for one, will be a fan of that combination forever more. Woody's has made that delectable version forever, and while I know they have many other things on the menu, I have never once gone there and gotten anything but a Greek Salad or Chopped Greek salad (extra feta please). And I've been getting salads from Woody's for decades... One day I'll have to branch out and try something else... but for the meantime... mmmmm.

3.5 stars. Good but not blow my socks off great. Sandwiches were fresh and had interesting ingredients but did not wow. Had the turkey cranberry and turkey spinach mango. Sliced bread was fresh. Soups had flavor but felt the tomatoes in the greek tomato was canned. Decor needs some help but could overlook. Would've helped if the food was up a notch. Service was prompt.

If you go to deli's based solely on the decor you won't enjoy Woody's. Nothing impressive about the basic table and chairs. They haven't changed anything since I first started coming here as a kid. But when you're sandwiches are delicious and salads are great, you could eat on a cardboard box and it'd be just fine. I love The Festivale: Boar's Head Turkey Breast on a Toasted Croissant with Cranberries, Leaf Lettuce, Mayo and Cucumbers. It's a large sandwich and I always split it and get a small Chopped Greek Salad. Another delicious sandwich is Blue Max: Boar's Head Roast Beef & Boar's Head Bleu Cheese Sauce with Leaf Lettuce, Tomatoes, Onions and Cucumbers on your choice of bread. The prices are reasonable and I recommending sharing. It's a great lunch spot that's under appreciated.

When I was a really little kid in this neighborhood, apparantly this was my mom's go-to place for salads. We came back a few days ago and not much has changed from the early nineties - that same 80's-office-chic decor, the same packs of ladies who lunch. According to my mom, same goes for the food. Which by the way is good. We both had small Greek Salads ($2.79) which were the real Tampa deal - fresh lettuce, a triangle of feta, pickled radish, Kalamata olives, a single shrimp, peppers, and in a real local touch, a scoop of Greek potato salad lovingly placed on the bottom of the bowl. Toss it with some vinaigrette and you've got yourself a good salad. (Although they are NOT LYING when they say "small.") We also shared a Cuban sandiwch ($5.69) and I feel no need to explain the contents of a good Cuban to the uniniated. This is why we have Google. In any case, it was pretty good although somewhat bereft in flavor in comparasion to the truly great renditions I've had in the past (and it needed to spend longer in the presser, though admittedly I like my sandwiches CRISPY.) They remebered the neccessary atomic yellow mustard and the slices of dill pickle, and that's more then adequate for my needs. The dining room is done in green and beige and honestly reminds me of an office cafeteria from the early eighties, although I am not exactly sure why. It's all counter service, and we had somewhat of an issue getting our intentions through to the frazzled lady up front, although I guess that is what it is. Certainly our food came out quickly. Also, they offered free saltines - life is good. They also sell tasty looking cookies though I haven't had one in so long that I'm really in no position to assess them.
